i know almost nothing abt demon slayer but have some thoughts abt douma
you wake up in his little cult w no memory of who you are right
the woman taking care of you grins and tosses the wet rag she used on your forehead to the side
nd with this widened almost terrifying smile, she says "our lord has come to visit you himself! what a blessing~"
the first time you see douma you just feel like somthing is. off
hes pretty - stunning, honestly - in this mystical, dangerous way that should lead you away from him instead of bringing you closer. but, its the opposite for his followers - they hang onto every word he says and believe him so earnestly its kind of sad
douma immediately thinks theres something wrong w you. you dont have that foggy, starry-eyed gaze everyone else does when hes near. you look cautious - aware. it makes him hungry
he leans down to face you, "hello, stranger! stay as long as you need to, hm?"
your skin crawls but you nod anyways
staying in paradise is odd. again, everyone hangs on douma's every word and trusts his every action. they devote themselves to him. but youve noticed -
people are going missing, women specifically.
his followers are v obviously in lust w him, bragging abt the nights spent alone w him and begging to be the next chosen one
"it'll be me," one girl says as she dries the freshly cleaned dishes. she perks her chest up smugly, "i've got his favored assets."
"he's been spending more time with me," another argues, "asking for me personally."
"don't act so mighty-"
and then the man himself appears in the doorway with a soft, barely there smile. "[random name], we have some things to discuss. see you tonight?"
everyones attention shifts to the smallest one in the kitchen, eyes large and timid. her hands shake so hard the plate shes holding falls to the floor and shatters. douma tilts his head, "everything alright, sweet? should we have our session a little earlier?"
"shes going to die."
it comes from your mouth before you can stop it. multi-colored eyes snap to you, his nose crinkling slightly. you simply stare, "when they disappear with you, they vanish. die."
douma hides the way his eye twitches. the bustier girl stammers, shoving your shoulder roughly. "you shouldnt say such things! apologize to lord-"
"its okay," doumas eyes twinkle, "curious cicumstances, hm, [name]?"
she doesnt die. its as if douma is proving a point to you - proving you wrong. she lives that night - only to vanish the next. "a personal trip," douma speaks. he dismisses everyones concerns except for yours.
and when you start speaking up more - predicting everyones death - he begins to punish you
the water you wash dishes with is either scalding hot or below freezing. theres a new night shift to the sanctuary that you take care of, staying awake for days on end. cleaning the entirety of paradise by yourself. watching as every other member feasts heartily while your portion is forgotten or unavailable.
douma even tries to throw you off his trail. he speaks to numerous people - has those secret conversations with men and others out of his normal type. but you always seem to know the exact one hes going to consume - the one who will die.
as if you predict it
and that makes him so curious! youre such an annoyance ; a hazard to keep around. but what if you could predict the future? what if maybe you were just that observant?
it doesnt help that you arent afraid of him. most of the time, you simply stare and blink at him, like youre bored
and that starts his obsession with you
the women he takes to his room are reminescent of you. your eye color ; hair color ; height ; the way they speak ; the letter of their name - any similarity to you and theyre done
starts calling you "precious" , "chosen" , or "blessing" to make sure you know hes keeping an eye on you but to also make the other followers hate you
i think youd catch on but but this is where my thought stopped lmao

lol. my top one is In the End, the World Still Turns. Which doesn't surprise me bc it's my only Oblivion fic.

YES sometimes it takes me a while to get around to it though because I have the memory of a goldfish

Not Dead (Yet) will definitely have the angstiest ending when we finally get there. We love tragedy in this house.

nah. frankly I don't think I would be any good at it so I prefer to just allude to sex and leave off right before or pick up right after. also to be real with you I'm still getting over my just came out of the closet lesbian repression. so maybe we'll get there eventually.

My one Palia fic would be an Oblivion crossover! But idk if it will ever actually get written. The plot and lore in Palia interest me and I really think the effect they and the setting have on Celeste is interesting but I have so much Elder Scrolls fic I want to write that I just don't know if it'll ever be at the top of my to write list. Not to mention my personal project.

noooo but I have co planned a LOT of them with Cat even if they haven't been written. s2g they will someday.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I mean I think we all know its Ayem/Nerevarine lol. I think it shines a really interesting light on Almalexia and gives you the opportunity to dig into her character. It also implies an interesting Nerevarine (imo not to toot my own horn here lol) because it requires them to understand the danger of meeting someone who quite literally murdered you in a previous life and then still show them vulnerability and compassion. Idk shipping is sort of an exercise in character analysis to me, and I like what the Nerevarine can draw out of Almalexia and vice versa.
With Meri and Almalexia specifically they're two chronic liars who meet someone that knows their tells and that's the closest to honesty they can get. And that breeds an interesting form of codependency. Having one person in the entire world who can see you for who you are no matter how hard you try to hide it, and then accepts and even loves that person even though they objectively kind of suck lol.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Don't have any atm! My only wip is Not Dead (Yet) and I'm so fucking determined to finish this even if it takes me years.
16. What are your writing strengths?
fuck if I know. I haven't been doing this long enough to have any real idea about it I'm just kind of throwing shit at the page and hoping for the best. I like to believe it's my character work.

THIS one I could give u a list a mile long lmao but I will say I think I show my hand too early and I tend to lack subtlety. Working on that quite deliberately rn.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I mostly throw in bits and pieces for emotional effect. Terms of endearment and the like. I know basically nothing about linguistics or being bilingual so I feel like I would want to a lot of serious research before I tried anything more serious than tossing a few dunmeri cuss words or velothi nicknames into a fic lol.

NOT DEAD YET. NOT DEAD YETTTTTTT. it's the first multi-chapter project I've ever attempted and also I care so much about this story and these characters that it's really motivating me to try to improve my work every single time I sit down to write.<3

A take that I've seen pop up more than a few times is the idea that those of us that think Claude is OOC in GW are actually just Dimitri stans who want Claude to follow him around like a puppy. Which I found to be super weird, because of a lot of the people I've seen say that Claude is OOC are... Claude fans, for the most part.
Like yeah a few Claude fans don't think he is because they erase/downplay traits that are very important to his character so that he could fit their evil grimdark edgy fanon version of him sorry not sorry, and most Dimitri fans think he's OOC, but for the most part it's people who like Claude (for who he is in the game itself, not WhAt He ShOuLd HaVe BeEn FrOm ThE dRaFtS) who are saying this.
But would you look at that, almost without fail, you go into the profile of someone spouting that take... their fave lord is Her Majesty, and/or they ship Edel///claude. DAMN NEAR EVERY TIME. And wouldn't you know, Claude is punished for ever standing up against Her Majesty in BOTH of their routes (by the Deer in GW and through LITERAL DEATH in SB's bad end) and is rewarded for doing good by her and never inconveniencing her (through gaining people's trust).
Hm, really boggles the mind why it's mostly Her Majesty fans who like Hopes!Claude, can't really see the connection here. And it TOTALLY isn't projection when they say that it's Dimitri fans who want Claude to follow Dimitri around like a puppy, that totally isn't what they want Claude to do for Her Majesty nope totally isn't the case.
Sorry, had to vent somewhere because my god, I just wanted to go into the dimi/claude tag on Tumblr (and it's in the tag itself, not just the search, how fun) and I saw this take that has LITERALLY NOTHING to do with dm/cl crop its dumbass head (written by, you guessed it, an Edel//claude shipper) and I had to get this off my chest
ayy dw abt it gotta vent somewhere. i wouldn't really know what types of people in fandom are into gw claude bc i don't really go anywhere else but my curated tumblr experience, but it would make sense for edelstans and/or edel//claude shippers to prefer him more bc he is a lot better suited to their version™ of the three houses universe and the characters in it. the entire point of verdant wind is that he wouldn't choose her side bc of what she wants and especially how she goes about achieving that and that he's different from her bc when he is presented w/ new evidence abt the church he listens and chances his view. i know one red emperor who would never (and would never let him do that, either). lmao. ive seen throuses claude enjoyers who were really happy abt thropes claude tho, so i know they're out there.
also idk abt other dimiclaude shippers but there is nothing less interesting to me than claude "following dimitri around" or whatever the hell like girl i want claude to gently but firmly soft-dom dimitri into taking care of/loving himself. i want them both to get satisfaction out of their relationship and be tender and feel loved and inspired in each other's presence. i want them to discuss the future of fódlan together as equals and have long conversations abt their hopes and dreams and their fears and faults. etc etc. like sorry all y'all want some guy to walk after a girl who doesn't want him to think for himself but im different

right now its only Macgyver(2016) and Call of Duty! I've made a marvel crossover, but not anything else. Once I'm done with uni and actually have the time to write and see shows without feeling like I should be doing other stuff, I will definitely write for more! I want to write something for stuff like Knives out, Phantom of the Opera, Star wars -- but mainly a ton of Macgyver and call of duty, lol

well, they've changed quite recently, since i jumped headfirst into the COD fandom and was welcomed very nicely! So, right now, theyre:

phew, that is one good question, because I honestly don't know. I have a tendency to end things either happy and hopeful like, or dark and like, with the vibe of things just being uncertain but not necersarily angsty? Lmk if im wrong lmao.
I think the closest is in A dog needs a garden, but then again, its not really angsty - at least not to the characters. just... dark.🤷♀️
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
hm. I mean, in my two fics Sir and his good boy and my baby’s got a gun (that I struggle to read myself now bc while I do have a soft spot for them, I hate my writing lol.) I make poor Mac go through a lot of shit, and they both end up on a happy or hopeful note- so those two, I guess? For now, heh.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
mmm, not really. When I do get some questionable comments, I either just answer in a jokingly manner or ignore it. I think I've only deleted one comment, lol. 💀
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
hah, YES. what don't I write. Despite being ace and not really being interested in sex irl, I sure do write a lot of smutty smut. I mostly write kinky stuff, a lot of BDSM ones. A lot of darker stuff too. I mean, out of 53 fics I think maybe 13 ish of them doesn’t have smut in them? So yeah, I write a bunch of smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Well, I've only written three (so far) lol. Two of them was just... Angus Macgyver and Jack Dalton having a threesome with a character from a different fandom, LMAO. I've written them having a threesome with Bucky Barnes from marvel and then one with Simon Ghost Riley from Call of Duty.
The craziest one technically isn’t a crossover lmao, more just the fact that I made twilight vampires canon in a Macgyver fic I wrote once 💀😂 it’s called this is the skin of a killer, Jack and yes, I find it funny and stupid myself.

Mmm, not technically, no. I don't talk often with a lot of fanfic writers, (im shy and idk how to become friends with people) but I do have 2 wonderful sweet friends I met through the macgyver fandom, whom i'm very grateful for and love lots. (They adopted my imposter ass who hadn’t even seen the show) They have managed to deal w my annoying ass for like... almost 2 years, I think and somehow isn't scared away yet. So, what I was going with that is, no, i've not co-written anything, but they do spar a lot with me and we discuss ideas and such, hehe. They've def helped me with a lot of fics.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
That is one good question that I honestly don't know the answer of. I'm pretty open to most ships, as long as they're written well in the fic or the show. (and legal. and not *ncest or pseudo *ncest.)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
don't call me out like this, I have a lot of WIPS. But honestly? Probably Wet footprints on the wooden floor (Macgyver). A part of me wants to, but its been like 1,5year or so, i think. At this point I would probably just delete it, then rewrite the entire thing and post it again, lol, because I do like the concept.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I don't know, actually. I like to think I write somewhat interesting plots whenever I'm trying not to just write pure smut. But eh, idk. I think I have an okay sense of humor too? but I am also biased.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Weird sentences! English isn't my first language, Danish is! and the structure of a sentence can be very different in Danish, so sometimes my English sentences ends up weird bc they're translated, lol. I'm working on it and I have definitely become better ver since writing my first fanfic, lol.🤷♀️
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I like to read it, but I struggle with writing it! It's hard, especially when you dont speak a certain language. I sometimes go with google translate, but I've tried just writing it like this when its in another language, lol. so ye, fun but hard.

Eh, i mean, I wrote a fanfic or two when I was like 15 or something, but I cannot, for the life of me, remember what for. probably marvel or twilight or something😂
If we go with the boolger account time-line, then it's Macgyver!

The many deaths of a phoenix(macgyver), since I like the plot ideas lol, even though I feel stuck with it atm.

(....ok that made me sound pretentious as fuck. and maybe i am, but this needs to be said, cause i’m getting....real, real tired of a Certain Corner of this fandom and as a result, this is gonna be a discourse-heavy post so feel free to scroll past if that’s not your bag. as always, my salt posts all carry the catch-all #salt for ts tag, which you’re free to blacklist/filter at your leisure. i’m Very Annoyed at the moment, which will probably come through in the following post, so just. yknow. be prepared for that. or ignore it, that’s perfectly valid too.)
under a cut bc i do care for my followers and their sanity i swear lmao
there’s a real serious issue in this fandom with not understanding what queer terminology actually means or implies, especially when applied to a fictional narrative.
i’m specifically talking about ‘coding’, here. (if i were in a more meme-y mood, i might have said ‘the atla fandom found out about the term “gay-coding” and haven’t shut up since’.)
to the people who say ‘zuko is gay-coded’, i have this to say: you keep using that word. i do not think it means what you think it means. because he isn’t. i’m sorry, but he’s not! and the fact that this is such a prevalent claim in this fandom is distressing, bc it says to me that none of y’all know what gay-coding is or when and how to apply it! please, i’m begging you, go and look up these terms and what they mean and when they should be used before actually trying to plug them into your critical analysis, because when you misuse them and then call other people delusional for disagreeing with you it casts a pall over the entire fandom and is, i think, the root of some of the worst toxicity this fandom has to offer.
and the thing is, there are cases where gay-coding would apply--for instance, a couple series that are famous for queerbaiting their audience by coding their main characters as being attracted to one another (sometimes even despite their openly stated sexualities) come to mind, but those shows bare no similarities at all to atla and how zuko was written and portrayed! (and it would be funny, if it weren’t so obnoxious and infuriatingly wide-spread throughout the fandom, because the only queer couple we actually seen on-screen in either show wasn’t even queer-coded in any respect, and they’re canonically bi! [yes, i’m shading korrasami, or more accurately i’m shading bryke for refusing to give ka the build-up and development they deserved].)
this absolutely isn’t to say that headcanoning zuko as gay is a bad thing or invalid in any respect. (although the tendency for zukka shippers to do this specifically to keep zuko away from katara and/or invalidate his canon relationship/attraction to girls is more than a little eyebrow raising. especially since sokka is usually allowed to be bi, bc fans have no problem letting sukka stay in the background bc it’s no real threat, while jetko shippers are happy to have both boys be bi. [possibly bc katara is less a threat to jetko bc jetkotara is every bit as valid as any single ship between the three, but zukka can’t exactly let katara join in, and if the potential exists for zuko to be attracted to her then canon giving them the far deeper emotional bond becomes a threat to zukka’s existence? idk for sure--you be the judge.]) i prefer to hc zuko as bi (and always have, long before the atla renaissance), bc i don’t think zuko being attracted to boys is outside the realm of possibility, and it isn’t a threat to my ship since zuko&katara had a deep and emotional bond in canon that is very easy to develop further into something that becomes explicitly romantic--but the headcanon itself isn’t really the problem (although what it’s often in service to can be).
it’s the strange insistence that this is the only way to read his character, bc he was coded that way and so anyone who doesn’t see it must be too straight to understand--and i really shouldn’t have to say why and how that is so incredibly fucking insulting. (the ‘hetero lenses’ comment wasn’t cute when it came from bryke six years ago, and the same sentiment being repackaged and delivered by zukka shippers ain’t cute now.)
calling zuko gay-coded not only demonstrates ignorance as to what the term actually means, and how to usefully apply it in critical analysis, but also validates the frankly bullshit insertion of institutionalized homophobia in the world of atla where it was neither needed, nor wanted, nor ever hinted at in canon. as a queer woman i’m still infuriated by one fucking comic panel shoving institutionalized and systemic homophobia into a world where it was entirely unnecessary (and doing this in the first installment of the franchise showcasing a queer relationship??? making korra and asami worried about ‘coming out’ when they could have just gone on to have cute adventures together and tell people ‘hey we’re dating’ and have everyone else be ‘that’s awesome =DDD’ [because it is, in fact, possible to just have a world without homophobia i promise!!!!!] double yikes, i’m still pissed at bryke about it), and i doubly hate that ‘zuko is gay coded’ has become so widespread that ‘ozai hates him bc he’s gay’ has become a staple in that part of the fandom.
not only does making zuko gay and implying (or outright stating) that ozai hated and abused him because of it completely undermine zuko’s character arc by making his abuse about his sexuality rather than ozai’s toxic pride and anger at seeing himself reflected in his ‘weak’ son, but it comes very close to outright stating that abuse and trauma are inherently gay experiences, and they aren’t!!! they really aren’t, i promise!!!
abuse and trauma narratives exist outside of ‘my dad hates me because i’m gay’. and, quite frankly, there are MORE THAN ENOUGH queer trauma narratives out in the world. we do not need to start trying to retroactively make them canon in a series where they didn’t exist! if you’re gay and see yourself in zuko and project your own experiences on him, that’s understandable and valid. that does not make zuko gay-coded. and honestly, the insistence that he is makes very little sense to me, because you’re essentially trying to give the show credit for work you put into interpreting the characters! why would you want to do that? why not own your own headcanons and take credit for them, rather than insisting they are canon and everyone else is wrong for not seeing them??? like, i’ve said before that i’ve always headcanoned zuko (and katara) as bi, and even support it with my interpretations of evidence from the show, but the difference between ‘i think zuko is bi’ and ‘zuko is definitely gay-coded’ is that i know that bi zuko is my interpretation of canon, and that it is work i’m putting into the show that wasn’t actually intended by the creators/writers, no matter how much sexual tension i read into the jetko swordfight.
and like, zuko’s character arc doesn’t actually parallel a queer one all that well to begin with. it’s easy enough to do the work and twist it sideways just enough to make the general points fit, but the fact is, zuko’s arc is not one of self-discovery. it’s not one of coming to understand something fundamental about himself that he can’t change, that he was hated for, and coming out to his father in a dramatic confrontation where he shows that he understands himself and doesn’t need his father’s acceptance to be fulfilled.
zuko’s arc is actually one of trauma and healing. and those can (and often are--like i said, there are more than enough queer trauma narratives in the world, atla really doesn’t need to be one of them) be part of queer narratives, for sure! but they aren’t uniquely queer. and zuko’s confrontation with ozai during the eclipse doesn’t read like a ‘coming out’ at all. (yes, i’ve seen that post. yes, i rolled my eyes and moved on, bc unlike some people, i’m capable of not clowning on correctly tagged posts i disagree with.) zuko is specifically confronting ozai over his abuse, because his arc wasn’t about discovering anything fundamental about himself (and therefore realizing that ozai was hating him for something he couldn’t change)--it was about realizing that he was not at fault for the way his father treated him. it was also about realizing that the fire nation was broken and corrupt at its core, and that his father was an aspect of that he needed to break away from so that he could help the world begin to heal.
he says it himself:
Zuko: No, I've learned everything! And I've had to learn it on my own! Growing up, we were taught that the Fire Nation was the greatest civilization in history. And somehow, the War was our way of sharing our greatness with the rest of the world. What an amazing lie that was. The people of the world are terrified by the Fire Nation. They don't see our greatness. They hate us! And we deserve it! We've created an era of fear in the world. And if we don't want the world to destroy itself, we need to replace it with an era of peace and kindness.
making this about zuko being gay and rejecting ozai’s homophobia, rather than zuko learning fundamental truths about the world and about his home and about how there was something deeply wrong with his nation that needed to be fixed in order for the world to heal (and, no, ‘homophobia’ is not the answer to ‘what is wrong with the fire nation’, i’m still fucking pissed at bryke about that), misses the entire point of his character arc. this is the culmination of zuko realizing that he should never have had to earn his father’s love, because that should have been unconditional from the start. this is zuko realizing that he was not at fault for his father’s abuse--that speaking out of turn in a war meeting in no way justified fighting a duel with a child.
is that first realization (that a parent’s love should be unconditional, and if it isn’t, then that is the parent’s fault and not the child’s) something that queer kids in homophobic households/families can relate to? of course it is. but it’s also something that every other abused kid, straight kids and even queer kids who were abused for other reasons before they even knew they were anything other than cishet, can relate to as well. in that respect, it is not a uniquely queer experience, nor is it a uniquely queer story, and zuko not being attracted to girls (which is what a lot of it seems to boil down to, at the end of the day--cutting down zuko’s potential ships so that only zukka and a few far more niche ships are left standing) is not necessary to his character arc. nor does it particularly make sense.
(and before anyone brings up his date with jin--a) he enjoyed it when she kissed him, and b) he was a traumatized, abused child going out on a first date. of course he was fucking awkward. have you ever met a teenage boy????)
anyway, uh, that was a lot of words, so have a tl;dr: zuko is not gay-coded. there is nothing uniquely gay (or even uniquely queer) about his character arc or characterization, and he was certainly not coded gay in an attempt to sneak a queer character past the censors. if anyone involved with atla was gonna try that, it would’ve been in lok, and as established, they didn’t even manage to queer-code the actual queer relationship before the last few minutes of the final episode. headcanoning zuko as gay is absolutely fine (though if it’s only done to keep him away from female characters he may otherwise be attracted to, that smells more like misogyny than anything else), but insisting that this reading is the only one that makes sense, and anyone who doesn’t agree must be straight (hello, queer woman here making this insanely long thinkpiece) is very much not.
ship what you like, but stop trying to invalidate other ships and other interpretations of characters just to make your ship seem more plausible. it’s really not a good look.

you made that post with your writing advice a few days ago and you mentioned google keep and i remembered to look it up yesterday and !!omg i love it! its great! i have a lot of ideas/inspo that is less "coherent thought/actual scene or event" and more "general vibes/single frame of a movie that i can see in my head" and ive got LOTS of these ideas that dont make as much sense written in a bullet list or something but !!!google keep lmao also do you have any tips for using it? <333
Yes!! That’s how my brain works too! I’m glad you like it! It’s been awesome for me 😊
So google keep. Like I said in that post there’s an app (for android, idk about ios) and a web version (keep.google.com) and they sync through your google account so that you can make a note on your phone and then open the web version on your computer and boom! There it is!
Some features I use:
Dark mode! Self explanatory I think lol
You can pin notes so they stay at the top. I like to pin the ones I know I’m going to write soon or want to keep top of mind
Checkboxes! If you’re making a list you can set the note to do checkboxes and when you check something off it gets crossed off and drops to the bottom of the note. I don’t use this very often because it forces everything in the note into a checkbox line. I did use one for a 5+1 fic I wrote so I could check off the instances of the five things, but otherwise I mostly only use it for shopping lists or stuff I need to do irl, not really for writing.
Archive! You can delete a note and have it move to the trash which gets emptied every 7 days, or you can archive the note so it leaves the main page but isn’t gone forever. I like to archive just in case during editing I end up cutting it and decide to resurrect it to use somewhere it fits better. Or I just like to browse through and be like Wow! look at all this cool stuff you’ve used! Or see if there’s something that can be repurposed and tweaked enough that it fits somewhere else.
Color coding! You can change the color of the note. I like it when all the notes that correspond with one fic are the same color, that way I can tell at a glance which notes belong to which fics and which ones are a random idea/convo/aesthetic that I haven’t put anywhere yet
Labels! I just started using these actually. They work like tags so that you can filter the notes based on the label used. I started using these in conjunction with color-coding. The label shows up in a little bubble at the bottom and you can use the menu on the left to filter so it only shows the label you click on.

That’s all the tips I have! There are other functions I don’t use like you can “collaborate” (whatever that means--I’m guessing you can link notes across accounts with other ppl? So you can both add to it? Sounds cool but I haven’t used it), copy the note to google docs, set reminders, insert images, and DRAW which I just tried out for the first time bc of this post. I made this awesome doodle lmao

Name: bxzukhov (my ao3), which used to be my tumblr url as well, before i changed it to something a little less associated with any one particular fandom (plus “kafkastan” is easier to say out loud). it’s a reference to pierre bezukhov of war & peace/great comet fame, but “bezukhov” is taken on both sites already, so i had to settle for something i usually pronounce in my mind as “bix-zukhov,” but this is unwieldy enough that i’ve genuinely considered changing my ao3 name a lot in the past year
Fandoms: these days, it’s mainly moby-dick or 15th century rpf, usually centering around margaret of anjou and/or anne neville & co. i write a lot of modern/reincarnation AU stuff for both fandoms bc as much as i love the age of sail & medieval aesthetics, i don’t quite trust myself to write in them with any level of competency. in the past, i’ve also written for hunchback of notre-dame (the novel specifically), ghost trick, rosencrantz & guildenstern are dead, les miserables, frankenstein, and the favourite (2018).
Where you post: pretty much entirely on ao3. if there’s something i like enough to share with others, but not enough to post publicly, i might put it in a pastebin and send it to a discord server or smth
Most Popular One-shot: “a glorious triptych”, which was my contribution to yuletide 2019. i assume the fact that it was part of yuletide is what got it most of its hits, but maybe the fandom around the favourite (2018) is just more active than the other ones i usually write in?
Most Popular Multichap: “musings from an april spent indoors”, which is pretty much exactly what the title describes--the highlights of my 30-day “escapril” attempt to write a poem each day based on a simple prompt. this is my most popular multichap simply bc i basically never write multichaps
Favourite story you’ve written so far: “transmogrification” always feels the tightest and neatest to me, plus i got an amazing comment on it that still makes me swoon whenever i remember it. by contrast, “this crazy lazy river we call life” is one of the messiest, most self-indulgent things i’ve ever posted and i adore it. the rest of that modern/reincarnation AU series is messy and self-indulgent as well, but the first entry still feels so raw and personal that i can’t help but love it a little more than its follow-ups.
Fic you were nervous to post: my first entry into any fandom always intimidates me, but the 15th century rpf tag especially bc i know for a fact that i’m not anything resembling an expert on the time period and i still have a little fear in the back of my mind that someone’s going to post an Epic Takedown of my characterizations in the comments. other than that, pretty much all of them tbh, sharing your writing is terrifying
How do you choose your titles: totally depends on the fic. sometimes i have a title in mind before i even start writing, it just comes to mind as soon as i have the initial idea, but other times i have to think of something right before posting. they’re usually either song lyrics or a word/phrase that i think sums up what’s going on; idk they tend not to be very clever
Do you outline: not really, no. for gifts (such as for yuletide/other fic exchanges), i’m more likely to just because i’m trying to work off of someone else’s initial idea, but when i’m writing purely for myself it usually begins under the guise of “writing practice” and then balloons into something i actually feel comfortable sharing
Complete: i think everything currently on my ao3 is complete; i have a couple series that are open-ended in case i come back to them (and i actually plan on posting another entry that fits the theme of both of the series before the end of the year)
In progress: two different fic exchange gifts--one for the histories ficathon and the other for yuletide. the former is further along than the latter, but i don’t have a full first draft for either yet (i have two papers due in a couple days that are in a similar state so i shouldn’t even be spending time on this post let alone fic-writing lmao)
Coming soon/not yet started: a little something for an exchange a discord server i’m in is running & the mystery fic i mentioned above (it’s going to be another super self-indulgent modern/reincarnation 15th century rpf fic)

Favourite story you’ve written so far: oh mannnn i gotta say where the light goes. especially that first chapter, just,, damn. what was i ON ?? its so good!! what the heck!!! quite proud of my metaphor work there, even if balancing prose/poetry feel is very stilted at times . in terms of that balance i think i did a Really good job with and neither did the both of us bc i went back and reread where the light goes for inspiration and i was like “oh god this is DROWNING in metaphors i need to lighten it up a little”
Fic you were nervous to post: i was nervous about where the light goes bc i had such high expectations going in, like i Knew people were craving what i had but i was like, did i do it right?? will this be my breakthrough in the mdzs fandom??? and it sort of was and sort of wasn’t, which,, fair. also SUPER nervous for astriferous bc i had written it all in like, one (1) day and it was for an exchange LMFAOOO (and you can really tell it was all written in one go......it was only when i hit the end that it got Good)
How you choose your titles: when i write fic i’m often scrapbooking a TON of different things together so titles are often just whatever it is i’m already drawing from. there are a few exceptions, like here, then, begins the mending, or and i need nothing more where a phrase popped into my head during the writing/drafting/brainstorming process and i was like OH THAT’S REALLY GOOD. TITLE IT IS
Do you outline?: usually only if it’s plot-driven, like my (incomplete for . Reasons) (ok i was being pestered bc i took it as a prompt and my promptee was. hm) YW multichap equilibrium, for which i outlined EVERYTHING. it was so annoying but i also lowkey liked it because these were MY messy outline notes and i could go as ham as i’d like

i think either how do i even... say that? bc the subject matter matters to me and actually grew out of my own need to process some things -- verbalizing what you want during sex is scary ok! -- and i think people also took it that way? there have been some really kind comments on it, specifically about the message i was trying to convey/stumbled upon while writing, so that is wonderful! i actually never responded to any of those comments bc i suddenly got self-conscious about author comment etiquette and im thinking it would look weird to do so now, but i am really surprised and humbled by them!
or warm water for reasons im not gonna go into until ive finished it, but yeah, it gets a special place in my heart, too, trust me on that. it also unfolded in such a great way as i was writing it, it really took a different turn from what i had originally planned out, which has been such an interesting process and it really made me feel joy to be writing again, you know? when characters/scenes just sorta take over? so it’s been definitely the most enjoyable to write i’d say. but also the least haha, which makes it so special.
fic i want to rewrite/expand on:
i feel like my very first fic could lend itself pretty easily to being expanded and becoming a proper AU, it would be pretty hassle-free to continue, but i don’t know if that’s a path i wanna go down. maybe some time in your sheets bc i did weave in that they’d been fucking regularly and i kinda liked their dynamic there, but my goodness, it’s so plotless! all my smut fics are so plotless! technically even the spanking fic could like, get another chapter of more spanking, but what would be the point?
maybe how do i even... say that? would be the most interesting to continue, to see how beth learns how to vocalize her wants and needs in bed, how she grows in that, but idk if i am equipped to write such a thing. hmm. im gonna think about it, after i finish the beast that is warm water.
share a bit of a wip or story idea you’re working on:
so ive got some dialogue between beth and stan sitting in my drafts bc i love a beth/stan friendship, but it didn’t fit in anything else i wrote, nor will it fit with an AU like warm water. im excited to use it one day, not bc the dialogue is any good (it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if literally none of the actual dialogue ever makes it to the actual fic) but i love the vibe in that scene. they discuss d*nsie, so unfortunately that fic must include that douche canoe, so that’s sad
what i also have is a barely-there rough draft/idea for a beth/rio/rhea threesome fic (mostly inspired by one particular sex position i wanna see them in) that is gonna take a while to actually write bc as @foxmagpie has pointed out it’s really hard to try and make that not be completely ooc, and i think im not gonna start until finish warm water.

How strictly do you follow canon? — I’m a little bit of a stickler when it comes to following canon. I do it to the best of my ability and try not to bend the rules to much to the point where it may seem far fetched. As an OC, I’m inserting something made up and non-canon into something canon. For me, I want her to be as believable as possible. I want her to fit in with the rest of the characters and story without disrupting that original story too much.
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals. — In canon, there’s no character quite like her in Bleach. Bleach has a surprising amount of rather diverse female characters, but I really liked the idea of having someone who was strong, at their top of the game but wielded an ability and set of skills that is classically “feminine”. Her love of flowers, gardening, and being soft and gentle doesn’t compromise her ability to lead or to fuck up your shit. She’s honed her skills so much she can turn the division into something of her own, much like Urahara did by turning the 12th into the research division (a specialization that remains even after his exile) and made a name for herself that is wholly unique.
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?). — People may find her interests boring or on the surface, her avenues of interaction repetitive. Maybe they can’t see their character interacting with a captain or someone from the soul society. Maybe they find her bubbly and friendly personality boring to interact with, because they prefer dramatic or angst driven story lines.
What inspired you to rp your muse? — I’ve had Miki for a long ass time. Her original inspiration is shallow and embarrassing, so I’m going to pretend not to acknowledge it and simply say that I really wanted a shinigami that had a flower based zanpakuto. Like literal flowers, not just the aesthetic of flowers (like Byakuya).
What keeps your inspiration going? — The people that I rp with frankly! I love my gorl, but it’s the other people I really write with that help bring her to life in a certain way. Oh no. My answer is just “the friends we made along the way” lmao.

I think without it, it’s hard to grow as an artist/writer (I’m leaving this thought of Lainey’s bc I agree lol). But its one thing to come and bash when you are only scraping the surface level of someone’s portrayal. Like, you can’t come to me and offer “criticism” if you haven’t bothered to read all the information that’s available to my character. As for my writing in genral, I welcome it. I’ve never professed to be a strong writer, I actually never really liked writing when it came to school, it is not a flowing talent for me like it is for others. I know sometimes I can get stuck in loops or sound repetitive. Sometimes I sit there and I know the feeling I want to portray but just can’t come up with the right words. So really, if you know of a way to shake that up, tell me!
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character? — Yes!! Though sometimes I feel brain dead and don’t know how to answer lol...but I do my best!
If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why? — I mean, unless it’s something that blatantly goes against something in canon, since she’s my own character no one can really say shit.
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it? — Tell them they can go if they don’t like it?? I understand that she will not be everyone’s cup of tea and can’t possibly hit everyone’s boxes with her but...if she doesn’t vibe with you I don’t need to hear it, you can just go and not interact with me, lol.
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it? — Obviously, since she is a character of my own creation, I DO want people to like her. I also realize that not everyone is going to like her though, by virtue of people being people and her characterization. We all have preferences. If you really HATE HATE her I’d maybe like to know why..because that seems like a really strong emotion and naturally we are curious. If it’s like “I hate her bc you make titty jokes sometimes” then get outta here, lol
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors? — Yeah, please, just fix it for me if its in a reblog. I’m pretty good with grammar but sometimes I just miss stuff and don’t catch it before it goes to post. Do me a solid.
Do you think you are easy going as a mun? — I”d like to think I am very easy going, but I also subscribe to the stupid idea that no one actually wants to talk to me, so I tend to keep to myself a lot and I find it hard to get really friendly with new people. I have my handful of people that I know I can say anything to, but it’s taken a long time to get there. But seriously, I don’t bite. I am a nice person. But also, don’t just come up to me and be like “whats up” and then when I respond you’re just like “cool” and nothing else. Fuck outta here with that.
