summary: sebastian’s retirement has led him to reminisce his past life and mistakes, including you. little does he know, the universe is about to give him a second chance via a small bookstore in switzerland.

note: this went on WAYYY longer than i wanted it to be and it didn’t really go the direction i wanted either, but we move

content warning: angst, fluff, hurt/comfort, more sebastian centric than reader centric tbh (sorry i just love him so much)

Retirement had been good to Sebastian.

He’d finally been able to spend time in his farm house, plant some trees, grow a garden, and along with all that, still have time to drive cars whenever an event needed him to. It was like his entire life schedule magically cleared up in front of him.

He missed racing of course, he won’t pretend that he didn’t. After all, he spent 15 years in the sport, it was his pride and joy for quite a long time. But that time of his life is over, he’s accepted that. He wanted to enjoy the other things in life instead, be able to see and experience things that the busy life of being a driver didn’t let him experience.

Sitting on a chair in his porch watching the sun set, he reflects on what he could have done differently. Who he could have treated differently. And when only one name enters his mind, the same one that’s haunted him for the past 5 years, he sighs reluctantly and heads back inside to prepare his dinner.

“What do you wanna do when you grow up?”

The question takes you by surprise as you take another swig of your beer. The moon shone brightly on the porch of whatever airbnb your team had set you up at, and the stars were sparkling like they had never before.

“What kind of question is that, Sebby?” you giggle. “Isn’t this what we’re gonna do for eternity? Racing?”

Sebastian shrugs, looking up at the sky on his foldable chair that you had brought on the trip. “Yeah but after that, you know? I’ve always thought about what my life will be like after retirement.”

“Okay old man, because you’re sooo close to retiring,” you tease. He gives you a playful light shove for that, smiling as he does. The air feels freer and lighter than it ever has before.

“But seriously,” Sebastian chuckled. “Have you ever thought about it?”

You ponder for a second before replying, “No, not really. I mean my career’s just starting, I haven’t really thought about the end. But when I do retire, I think I’d like to be a writer.”

“Like those egotistical types to make a biographical book about themselves?” Sebastian asks, earning a laugh from you. The sound made him feel things that he’d only ever felt before with you.

“God no,” you laugh out. “I don’t wanna be like those old blokes who get obsessed with themselves after they retire. I just wanna write fictional books, maybe under a pen name. Just a simple life; me, my theoretical dog, and my theoretical book.”

Sebastian nods with an understanding look in his eye. He wants that life too. A simple one, away from the public. Even now at his young age, the paparazzis and press were getting annoying quickly.

“I want to live in a house far away from the city,” he says. “Maybe the suburbs— no that’s too near…a farm! I’ll live in a farmhouse.”

You smile at the thought of Sebastian Vettel, two time Formula 1 world champion, just lounging about in a farm tending to his animals and crops.

“Wouldn’t it get boring? Or lonely? Milking your cows alone?”

He answers you with no delay, “Well I’d want you to be with me of course.”

You thanked whatever higher power was listening at that time that he couldn’t see how your blush formed over the darkness of the night. Regaining your sense of self, you reply, “What makes you think I’d want to go with you?”

“Wouldn’t you?” he asks genuinely. “You could write your books inside while I…I don’t know what type of farm I’ll make, exactly. But I’ll be tending to that and you can write your books with your theoretical dog.”

“It’ll be our theoretical dog, then.”

Sebastian replied with a soft smile, “Ours, then.”

He had settled on bees. Having a bee farmhouse. It wasn’t easy work, it was definitely more complicated than milking a cow like you had said, but it made him happy, and it made him content.

Well, as content as he could be.

You had your first kiss that night, Sebastian recalled. He remembers because even though you didn’t think it, he could see the red blush dusted lightly on your cheeks, a sign he made the right choice leaning in and making his move.

Preparing his dinner for one in his cozy yet lonely farm house, he realizes he could have had this all with you. If he had just been more kind and if you had forgiven him, you could have had all of this together. A life that both of you had always wanted.

“Sebastian, I’m not asking you to retire or something, I’m just asking you to take a break, please,” you beg. He remembers your exasperated voice as clear as day.

“I can’t take a break, Y/N, you don't understand. If I don’t get at least podium in this race, that's it, my career is basically over.”

Scoffing, you replied, “Your career isn’t over just like that, you’ve still got another year with Ferrari for christ’s sake.”

“You wouldn’t get it,” he mumbled, opting to turn away from you and put on his racing gear instead.

He’d been distant the whole season, the tension between the two of you increasing and increasing that finally it just snapped this race weekend. He’d been icing you out, acting like you didn’t exist because he was ‘practicing for the races ahead.’

At first you understood, you were a driver too. You recognized the difficulty of always losing race after race, how after a while it took a toll on your mental wellbeing. So you gave him space.

Then, when that didn’t work, you tried reaching out, helping him. It was the worst mistake of your life. Every time you tried to talk to him, to ask him what was wrong so you could help, he kept pushing you further and further away, acting like you were getting in the way of his work, sometimes even getting angry.

That went on for the whole season, until finally today, on qualifying morning, you snapped and demanded he talk to you.

“What the hell do you mean ‘I wouldn’t get it’? I have the exact same job as you,” you accused. You’d been patient for months and his vagueness was starting to get on your nerves.

Whipping his head around angrily to face you he replied, “You don’t have to reach the same standard as I do. I have to constantly prove I’m the best, and you constantly prove to be a midfielder.”

Oh.

That was a low blow, even Sebastian knew that. Your relationship had been teetering on the edge for the past year, but this was a make or break moment, and he knew exactly which one of the two it was going to be.

“So it’s like that,” you decided with a tone of finality. Sebastian wanted to ask for your forgiveness right then and there, to apologize, to make up for the last few months of being an asshole, to beg you not to throw away your years together just like that.

But he knew he was in the wrong, and he was too stubborn and egotistical to apologize.

Sensing the silence from him, you nod with teary eyes you tried so desperately to stop from flowing freely. Sebastian wanted nothing more to wipe them away, to hold you in his arms, but he never could do it.

“This is how you want it to end?” You asked him. It was a genuine question. You were giving him one last choice, one last chance to make up for how he’d been treating you the past year.

He stayed silent.

“Enjoy your fucking career, Vettel.”

He won that race. It was his first win of the season, but he felt like he had lost the championship itself as he stood on that podium, eyes looking for you in the crowd like he usually did, finding you absolutely nowhere.

After your argument he tried to talk to you in the paddocks but you constantly avoided him, the act not being hard when he wasn’t allowed inside your team’s hospitality building nor paddock. That fight was the last sensible conversation with each other you ever had.

You retired the year after that. You moved out quietly from your shared home, and he heard you stayed with Jenson for quite a while. He couldn’t blame you, Jenson had always been kind to you— Sebastian had no place to be jealous.

Hearing the beeping of his oven, Sebastian snaps out of his trip down memory lane to grab his dinner. It was a tray of lasagna, one he was sure he would be eating again tomorrow lunch because of the size of it.

He thinks about how he wouldn’t have to place the excess in a container for tomorrow if he just had someone to share it with. If he could share it with you.

Going through his grocery list at 10 in the morning, Sebastian notices a new store out of the corner of his eye. He’s been to this street countless times to do his grocery down the road— they had a brand of milk that no other nearby grocery had— but he had never seen that store before.

It was a bookshop. A small one compared to the large shops that surrounded it, but it stood out enough to be noticed yet cozy enough to feel inviting. It was a cold morning in Switzerland, and the heater inside just invited him further in until he found himself standing at the doorway, taking in the smell of books and the absolutely gorgeous decor.

He will admit, he hasn’t seen a bookshop like this in quite a while. The second he stepped foot inside he felt the love radiate through it, as if he knew the owner personally and how they had a passion for their store.

All Sebastian could think about, however, was how much you would love this. How you would adore running your fingers through the spine of a second hand book, or how you would pick a fresh new one for him to read and he would do the same for you, just like you both did back then.

He won’t pretend that he never looked for your book when you retired. He knew you weren’t joking about publishing one, he just didn’t know what pen name you chose so he never could find it.

“Looking for something specific?” A voice makes him turn his head around to see the woman behind the register looking at him inquisitively. He realizes that he was just standing in an aisle not really reading or picking up a book.

Sebastian shakes his head, “Not really, just browsing. I was thinking about how a friend of mine would have liked to see this store, it’s right up their alley.”

“Why don’t you invite them then?” A different voice speaks.

…It can’t be.

That voice.

No, he was hallucinating, dreaming maybe. Yes, this was a dream. That would be the only explanation why from behind him he heard a voice he missed so dreadfully, one he tried imagining talk to him again some nights, one he watched old videos for, one he—

“Sebastian?”

It was you. He would recognize your voice anywhere. He turns around, and the world seems to slow down as if it suddenly focused on just the both of you. The background blurs and everything is hazy and distorted but you were there. Standing in front of him, actually real. Older than he remembers but not in a negative way, just more mature. More peaceful. More you.

Staring at you in the middle of a bookshop in Switzerland after 5 years, Sebastian couldn’t speak. He didn’t know what to say. What would be right? Would there be words he could tell you that would make you ever forgive him?

“I-” “You-”

You both start at the same time, making you laugh at each other. It was the first time he’s seen you smile since 2016. He used to say he would burn cities to see you smile, and he’s glad he knows now that that feeling hasn’t changed.

“You first,” he says. He wants to hear what you’ll say so he can choose his words better.

“I, uh,” you laugh awkwardly. It was still a beautiful sound to Sebastian. “I was actually slightly expecting to see you here.”

Oh. Well he didn’t expect that. You…you were expecting to see him? Like purposely thinking about him? The thought boggled Sebastian.

Noticing his visible silence, you speak up again. “I co-own this bookstore,” you smile. “I knew you lived around the area so I expected I’d bump into you eventually. It’s not the main thing that I do, but my Swiss friend you just talked to behind the counter wanted to make a bookstore but was low on funds so I decided to help a friend out, you know?”

Oh he knows. You were always so kind when it came to your friends. He remembers, he used to be one of them.

“That’s really nice of you,” Sebastian says. He slaps himself internally for the dumb reply he gives. “You uh, you look great.” Way to fucking go Sebastian. What a great conversation saver.

“Not in a weird way, of course. I mean I would never try to make you feel uncomfortable by saying that. Did you feel uncomfortable? Was it weird? It probably was. I mean I haven’t seen you in so long and that’s the first thing I say it’s so stupid and I could have said something of significance but—”

You stop Sebastian before he rambles on any longer. Holding his fidgeting hand, you chuckle at the sight of the nervous German in front of you. “Relax, Seb. I’m not mad. I’ve moved on.”

Oh.

“You have?” He asks, not thinking before he speaks because he knows he hasn’t. How could he move on from the best thing that ever happened to him and the biggest mistake he ever made?

The question takes you aback, pulling your hand away from his. For a second Sebastian thinks he’s messed up all over again, but you simply reply, “I meant from racing. But I know what you think I mean.”

“Can we catch up? I’ve missed you.” Sebastian hears himself say it before he even realizes the implications of his words.

“Oh.” you say with a pause. It makes Sebastian’s heart sink. Maybe you really have moved on, but in a way that you didn’t want him in your life anymore. He gets that. It looks like you’ve built a nice life for yourself outside of racing. Even if he never gets to be in it. He’s proud of you for being able to move on. “How about we sit down for some coffee first? I know a place near here.”

Oh thank god. Sebastian wasn’t ready to be deprived of you again so quickly.

Walking to the cafe, the air was thick with the tension between the two of you. While your accidental meeting in the library had gone well, the spark of the moment had faded and the reality of the situation had settled in. This was someone Sebastian had deeply wronged, someone he still deeply loved, and there were too many words unsaid there about both.

Sitting down at the window seats— he remembers how you loved sitting there so you could watch the people outside— you flag down a waiter to take both your orders.

“I’ll take a macchiato and— Seb do you still take your coffee black?”

Nodding, he looks out the window with a light blush on his cheeks. The fact that you remembered his— albeit simple— order made him happy and he had to catch himself otherwise he would be smiling like a teenage boy again. It was truly the little things.

“So,” he speaks up, straightening up and looking at you.

“So,” you mimic. “I go first or you go first?”

“My life has been pretty televised before I retired, there’s nothing really surprising in it. You go first.”

You spend the next 30 minutes filling him in on your life, how you avoided the media for the past few years, how you live in a cozy home with your dog, how you still exchange presents with some of the older grid during Christmas (Sebastian admits he got jealous here).

But the most important part was when he heard how you finally wrote that book you always talked about.

“Really? You finally published it?” Sebastian asks. He could see how the smile on your face was genuine, unlike the many times he saw you put on a fake one for the press or the media. It made him happy.

“Yeah, I finally found time after I retired to start it. Surprisingly it’s actually much harder and less peaceful than I thought it’d be.”

“At least it’s not a biographical book,” Seb jokes. The throwback makes you giggle, but it also makes you both acknowledge the elephant in the room. There were still so many things left unsaid, you both didn’t know where to start.

“Y/N back when I said those things, you know the ones, I didn’t mean them.”

Giving him a sad smile you reply, “I know, Seb. But it doesn’t take them back. Besides, that silly argument was just the straw that broke the camel's back, we were on the edge of our relationship for so long, you knew that too.”

“I know, but that was my fault it was on the edge too. I kept pushing you away because of Ferrari and how disappointed I was in my career. I didn’t realize at the time how much it was hurting you until I finally lost you. I know it makes no sense to say it this late when all is said and done, but I am sorry.”

Sebastian’s words stunned you to silence. You knew he never meant pushing you away, despite your last fight he was never intentionally that unkind, it was just racing that pushed him to be like that back then. But hearing the words coming from him hit differently, the way he said the two words you’ve been yearning for for years. I’m Sorry.

It couldn’t make you forget, but it could make you forgive.

“I know you are, Sebby,” you say. The old nickname brings a nostalgic smile on his face. “I’ve forgiven you years ago, just after I retired. I figured I should let go of my ghosts and that’s what I did. Though I won’t lie, your ghost did put up quite a fight giving me tears at night,” you joked. Sebastian could sense the hint of sadness in it.

He wishes he could make it all go away, to fix it just like he used to be able to. But he knows it’s not that easy. Not when the years have separated you both. It’ll be hard getting your trust back to let him into your heart even just as a friend, but goddamn if he wasn’t going to try and fix it.

“Will you ever show me the book?”

The question catches you slightly off guard. “I doubt it. It’s not up your alley anway, historical fiction.”

“Anything you write is up my alley. Maybe you can come over sometime and show it to me,” he says, not realizing the underlying meaning to it.

“Careful, Sebastian,” you say. “Forgiving is easy when you’re given time, but forgetting is harder. Let’s take baby steps.”

Baby steps. He could live with that. To Sebastian it doesn’t matter if it takes days or years to get you back in his life, he’ll let you take your time. You deserve it. And if you choose in the end to walk out of his life again, well, then he deserves it.

You hug each other goodbye when you leave, the hug lasting longer than it should have. He knows he promised baby steps, but when you buried your head into the crook of his neck and tightened your grip around him softly, he couldn’t resist pulling you closer to him and holding you there for a few seconds. He misses this, the closeness of it.

He sends you his address if ever you were in the area again, and you notice how the profile picture he has for you on your number was still the one of you when you were both rookies. It made you happy.

Sebastian didn’t expect anything more to happen, he spent that night contemplating what good deed he must’ve done to bring you back into his life again. Whatever it was, he was grateful he had done it.

The next afternoon as he was reheating the Lasagna— that he ultimately forgot yesterday— in the oven for lunch, he heard his doorbell ring. Opening his door he spots a package on the floor, one that was wrapped with a cute bee themed wrapping paper. It made him chuckle. He expected that whoever or whatever was at the door was you, but this was the next best thing.

Sitting down on his porch chair, he opens the package delicately as if it were fragile. He can feel the outline already, it was a book. Moreover, it was your book. Sebastian couldn’t believe it.

There was a note attached that read, ‘Forgot to tell you yesterday. I missed you too.’

The few words were almost enough to bring him to tears, but he continued and opened the book to scan its contents. The typing Published 2020 stands out, making him realize how long he’s missed out on this.

But what truly catches his attention is the dedication. Smack right in the middle, the words to be seen by everyone, read; For my Sunshine, the amount of words left unsaid will never match the amount of love I still have for you in my heart.

He may not be able to fix his mistake just like that, but Sebastian would wait however long it took for you to love him again, as a friend or as another. As long as his sunshine was in his life again.

THANKFULLY the hunter didn’t catch any of us my heart was gonna burst 😭 and then the next we were at byako plain . i panic and transformed into the wooden barrel near the water stream. idk what’s happening at first bcos i can see the other rebel from where i’m at— they were using sayu. they were standing there with the npcs and the apparently the hunter just couldn’t see them? and then the childe one transformed to a chair . the hunter chased them every where and to the roof. i was the only remaining rebel after the game. pretty fun!!

+ i read then i decided to just watch !! IM ON SEASON 3 RN and halfway thru!! im so excited to meet the rest of the villains . this anime rly proves if villain why sexy. everyone is attractive . god. pls. I KNEW ID LIKE HIM !! ive seen photos of him before and he seems interesting as well as cool . i love him a lot :,)) he and fyodor . ai when i heard fyodor’s voice PLS i was ready to risk it all. HE HAS THE SAME VA AS AYATO. and u know how i feel abt ayato. i love him a whole lot i wanna give him babies.

ngl, paimon was literally a certified scara hater during the quest because she's scared he'll turn around and hurt the traveler 😭 but let the man have his mental breakdown for a bit <//3 although all of them were seconds away from being crushed in that scene, so paimon's inconsiderate urgency was somewhat understandable.

TWO SCARA THIRST TRAPS IN A ROW?? i am clenching my chest dramatically. please, what... what more do you want from me. i thought i already did what you wanted by joining the club officially, you're trying to sap me dry here 🤨 (/j)

[ SPOILERS for sumeru's interlude quest! ]

DW, JAE, I GOT YOU. the quest did leave me feeling kinda empty too and ik you're not a player, so let me explain the summary of the quest! >:)

if you wanna know, scara was the one who wanted to tamper with the irminsul himself so he could erase himself from everyone's memories. his line of thought was that if they've never met him, then all the wicked incidents (specifically, the tatarasuna incident where the people who took him in died because of dottore) that happened because of him would be gone... so, that those affected by it will live and he can right his wrongs that way.

but a mysterious woman voice (we speculate it's istaroth, the god of time) told the traveler that, not verbatim, although memories can be tampered with, the events still stay the same. even after scara did all that to erase everyone's memories of him so that they'll live, they still died but through different means — which meant that his sacrifice changed nothing but memories. only nahida, the traveler, and paimon are the ones who remember his past because everything still happened and his friends still died 😭

SO, BASICALLY !! scara thought that he'd fix his mistakes and redeem himself by taking himself out of irminsul like we expected, but it backfired on him and now, here he is. <//3

ngl, i felt a little empty because i was hoping that they'd elaborate about ei in this quest since it's centered around scara. but this whole being forgotten thing is still kinda trippy tbh fjwkfjjekd it's a 50/50 for me personally ;( but this quest was also the last shove into the scaranation because we finally got to properly interact with him and he is so stupid and cute and—

BUT FOR THE TRADE, i'll give you: what i'd do if i get scara on his next rerun, did you remember when i said people were naming him Babygirl, and i love patrick pedraza.

were you nervous about finally confessing your feelings to akaashi on valentine’s day of all days? absolutely

he was one of, if not the prettiest, impressively athletic, and overwhelmingly intelligent boys in your class

he probably got at least ten confessions on the daily

and valentine’s day simply doubled the number

and here you were, with your tiny valentine’s day card and box of chocolates in hand

you had heard from all the girls that he had been turning down confessions left and right, only adding onto your mountain of nerves

little did you know that he was waiting for you

cherry blossoms bloomed above your heads, falling gracefully like something right out of a shoujo anime. you tapped the tip of your shoe against the pavement, a nervous tick you had garnered that helped keep you grounded. this was it. this was the moment today was leading up to. you and akaashi were standing behind fukurodani, stealing away a bit of privacy. you didn’t need the prying eyes of the other girls watching as you confessed to your year long crush.

akaashi waited with a patient gaze, unmoving from his spot a few feet ahead of you. he gave you space, and didn’t force you to talk right away. it was as if he already knew the intricacies of your thoughts, the way your mind spiraled if you were suddenly put on the spot, especially when it was as intimate and open as confessing your feelings.

“i wanted to tell you, i mean- what i’ve been trying to tell you for years is that i, well,” your tongue felt like it was two sizes too big. your fingers fidgeted behind your back, holding onto the tiny note and chocolates you had made for him yourself. “i like you a lot more than i really let on. you’re always so thoughtful and considerate. you listen to me when i ramble, and you help me with homework or even small things i don’t completely understand. that’s um, that’s really nice of you. i know you’ve probably received a lot of gifts today, but if you could spare a bit of your backpack space to accept mine, it would mean the world to me.” you bowed towards him, eyes glued to the floor as you held out the small box of chocolates and the note you had written.

you didn’t catch the way a smile tugged at his usually stoic features, or the way he tilted his head in thought while wondering how much courage you mustered up to confess like this. still, you felt nimble fingers brushing against yours, the weight of your gift leaving your grip.

“thank you, y/n,” akaashi told you gratefully as you stood up to your full height, “i’m glad that you feel the same as i do.”

he settled for those tiny heart shaped candies, knowing that you had quite the sweet tooth

he wasn’t gonna leave you hanging on valentine’s day, sweetheart

kenma held your hand in his as the two of you walked home together. the day was rainy, small droplets of water pattering against the shared umbrella the two of you were situated beneath. you were talking about school, something or other about the clubs you were in and how passionate you were about starting your very own this year. kenma listened tentatively, an easy smile on his face as he watched your eyes light up and your free hand gesture and fly about as you spoke.

you were adorable.

the two of you soon arrived at your house, and you promised kenma that you would call him tonight so the two of you could play games or watch some netflix together over the internet. you two had been particularly invested in some k-drama that always left the two of you at the edge of your seats. you planted a gentle kiss to his cheek, his face erupting in crimson right to the tips of his ears. giggling quietly, you wished him goodbye, your hand beginning to slide from his as you went to leave. to your surprise, he held on tighter.

with his gaze cast down, you watched as he pulled out a tiny bag of heart shaped candies from his pocket. “i know it’s not much, but i saw everyone else getting their partners gifts and kuroo said that it would be good if i got you something too.”

you accepted his small token of affection with shaky hands and flushed cheeks. peering inside the clear bag, you saw a whole collection of multi-coloured candies reading cheesy phrases such as ‘b mine’, ‘true love’ or even a ‘cutiepie.’

“kenma, i love it. oh my.. haha! i thought you forgot since you didn’t mention anything about gifts for today.” kenma’s hand squeezed yours, his eyes lifting from the wet ground to meet your own with a small yet confident smile.

“i wouldn’t forget something as important as you.”

an absolutely chaotic mess on valentine’s day

he’s so excited that he finally has someone to spoil, so he wants to go all out

he figured that the best present to get you was the biggest teddy bear he could find

he went to 6 stores and dragged asahi and tanaka with him

he saw a teddy bear that was literally twice his size and went “I’LL TAKE IT”

mans has no chill, he spent literally his entire allowance on it

his grandpa didn’t even bat an eye PFFT

when nishinoya showed up at your doorstep with a chunky teddy bear in tow, you had no words. truly. it had been at the stroke of midnight when he texted you to come outside and see the valentine’s gift he had gotten you. you had said that this could wait until morning, but he insisted that this could not wait another moment. it was technically valentine’s day, after all! this resulted in you dragging yourself down the stairs of your home to greet him at the door. to your surprise, yet at the same time not surprising you in the slightest, was noya carrying the largest teddy bear you had ever laid your eyes on. not only that, but tanaka and what appeared to be a very exhausted asahi accompanied him.

“y/n-chan!” nishinoya shouted boldly and triumphantly, getting down on one knee which instantly made you panic. he wasn’t going to propose, was he? no he wouldn’t. would he? oh god. your words got caught in your throat, trying to formulate some kind of response to his sudden and incoming declaration. yet, a proposal never came. he held up the teddy bear as if it were simba from the lion king, the entire stuffed animal basically shielding his shorter form from your view. you suppressed a snort with your hand.

“i searched far and wide for this gigantic teddy bear for you, please accept it this valentine’s day!” nishinoya said loud and clear from behind the bear. you were having trouble stifling your laughter because from your angle, it looked like the bear itself was saying these words to you. you attempted to take the huge bear from his arms but it ended up being a lot heavier than you anticipated.

“noya, really this is-”

“take the picture!” noya whisper shouted to tanaka, who was holding up his phone camera with a thumbs up. noya posed beside you with an arm tossed around your waist, throwing up a peace sign and sticking out his tongue. leave it to yuu nishinoya to spoil you with the biggest bear he could find. it was incredibly endearing, especially when you found out from asahi that he nearly got kicked out from a walmart after knocking down the entire teddy bear display. he could be the biggest dork sometimes. but you wouldn’t trade him for the world.

they were cupcakes red velvet with pink, buttercream frosting

easy, right? it would be a cute little date, you could even stay over at his house while you watched a romcom or something of the sort while they were baking

“shit fuck, oh god- shit!” koushi mumbled to himself as he was spilling some of the red cupcake mix over the side of the bowl. you were trying your best not to laugh too much but you couldn’t help your giggles when koushi shot you a playfully annoyed glare, his nose powered with sugar and flourmaking him look straight out of a victorian magazine. baking with koushi had gone just as well as you thought it would. there was a lot of flour being thrown around, a few stray chocolate chips and sprinkles now on the floor serving as reminders of past quarrels. koushi had always been a rather chaotic individual behind his “soft boy” demeanour he liked to flaunt. he could be so goofy and fun. he could be your greatest hype man but also the person you knew could be in your corner when it counted. and here the two of you were, making a mess in your shared kitchen at nine at night for a valentine’s day date.

“honey, you’re mixing it too fast!”

“i’m mixing it just fine, see look! it’s supposed to be this thick,” his ahoge bobbed back and forth atop his head as he mixed with quite literally his entire torso. his tongue poked out of the corner of his mouth as he focused hardcore on the making sure the mixture was abolished of any and all chunkiness present. you rolled your eyes, a wide smile on your face despite his stubbornness. “the oven’s been preheating for thirty minutes now.”

“well the oven can wait,” he huffed, tapping the neck of the whisk against the bowl to remove the excess mix before grabbing a ladle to begin scooping all the mix into the muffin tin. not without another mess, of course.

“kou, stop moving the—”

“i’m not moving anything, you’re just making me laugh!”

“hand me the spoon, hand it over.”

“it’s not a spoon!”

“it’s a big ass spoon.”

“y/n!”

you were bickering like an old married couple as your hands reached greedily for the ladle that already had some cupcake mix in it. koushi held it out of your reach, causing him to back up into the counter while you hopped in an attempt to get it back. in your desperate attempts, you slipped on the flour from your little past war and caused the two of you to collapse to the floor in a heap of giggles and laughter.

yeah, you two would definitely never be touching any sort of recipe after that day, you absolute menaces.

Can we just talk about the ending of KawoShin open discuss. *sort of spoilerish*

I feel like I’m the only one who’s like reallly disappointed LMFAO--ya’ll there’s so much “canon” alternative universe and merchandise for Kawoshin in Evangelion that it kind of makes me upset to realise this couple just went down the drain. Yeah, I can see how people were like, “Kaworu’s toxic” or “Kaworu has a hero complex for Shinji” to which I say are valid points. But the toxic thing I feel like can also be applied to pretty much everyone around Shinji tbh, except for Rei. I did NOT, like Asuka at all but I really love her character though, and I felt for her a lot throughout the series.

I did not ship them either because honestly, Shinji and Asuka seemed better off playing the sibling dynamic instead of trying to play bf/gf which honestly is kind of forced by their living situation. Also since they’re in a similar disposition non existent father and dead mother, you’d imagine they would rely on each other for emotional comfort. Though Asuka—her personality I feel like she can’t differentiate between familial love and romantic love and the affection she wants is a bit of both. But, her character tries to be “mature”; she wants romantic love more and does this through sexual means and romantic gestures e.g. like kissing. One of my friends told me that you can’t stay friends as a boy and a girl cause eventually you catch feelings. Which I say is kinda dumb cause I have a lot of male friends, and I definitely don’t harbour those feelings, but I guess it’s a common phenomena.

I think this is what happens in this case, of Asuka and Shinji. Even after rejection of instrumentality they actually are depicted as childhood friends. But knowing how they both were before to each other, it was not good tbh. Also to mention the choking like thrice— bro if anything, this showcases a really abusive relationship and I think this outstretches the idea of their character tropes. Which I firmly stand by saying they’re superficial to each other. AsuShin were never really there for each other and are using each other in a forced situation. However, you can’t deny that they didn’t at some point catch feels, also Shinji is pretty consistent how he still cares about everyone around him. Which I really like how they add that to his character because it reminiscent of Yui, because you see a duality of both his parents personality in Shinji throughout the series—it’s a really nice touch. But bruh, if we gonna talk about that coma scene—I’m out LOL.

Thoughhhh, she is a true definition of best girl I really like her arc, fighting drive, and her skills as an Eva pilot 😭💗--but bruh she’s still a toxic and sometimes annoying tsundere trope, but still she’s 14 what can you do. So I feel like Kensuke and Asuka are actually a pretty good combo, cause he’s always been pretty mature even without parents. Also Asuka was into older guys, so I guess this is a win win?? Also Rei and Shinji, I honestly cannot get my head around it cause that’s pretty much his mom—so in a way that’s like either his half-sister or mom-ish clone?? Idk but Yui is definitely the donor LOL.

Kaworu and Shinji I felt like brought a bunch of things out of each other. I don’t know which timeline begins first, but I’d like to think the manga, the anime (plus its movies), and then to the rebuild series. Because I think that order is kind of pivotal to observing Kaworu’s character development from being a person who’s trying to understand human feelings to then the kinder person we see in the final series. You can tell how he’s changed and he knows Shinji a lot more as well as being considerate to him e.g. giving him personal space or letting him work at his own pace. Also that “we’ll meet again.” Is an obvious nod to how he’s done this before.

His literal story in every timeline is always romantic LOL, like bruh I can’t remember which game it was but basically a bad ending of Kawoshin route is that you reject Kaworu and he starts the third impact 🤡. Also I don’t know why but I started to see a weird dynamic between those two, in the manga their interactions reminded me of Asuka and Shinji—which Shinji is the tsundere Asuka here. I don’t know if this is relevant but the older character relative to the character they’re with seems to play off a mature vs a childish person trope. Asuka is younger than Shinji and Shinji is actually younger than Kaworu. Then again I could be overseeing this but istg manga Kaworu and Shinji mirror the whole Asushin dynamic. Like he’s seriously agressive against Kaworu, then after killing him he admits liking him. 🤡 I don’t know which is funnier no homo Shinji, homophobe shinji, or just closet Shinji who needs to realise sexuality is a spectrum so he could’ve idk—come out as bisexual, but whatever manga Shinji lol that timeline is over.

Anyways the development of these two is real and I think the rebuild timeline shows them at their best bringing their own personage out from each other like how they both enjoy music together--WHICH I’M SO SAD WE NEVER GET TO SEE THAT CELLO AGAIN. Then there’s those feelings of humanity, love, kindness, etc. Which yeah an angel could represent those things, but Kaworu is still his own person, self-aware of a cycle and if you think about how he initially was there to USE Shinji, but ultimately turned on that plan set by SEELE because he loved Shinji (and a bunch of other things like him showing Kaworu humanity). I also can see the argument, how “ideal” Kaworu is to Shinji, but he’s more self aware of the time he has before he KNOWS he’ll die and knows how to act for himself in that duration to make the most of it. All with Shinji. At some point, I think he fell in love with Shinji tho I don’t know where it began tbh—considering that all those alternate universes do exist. Kaworu does romantically love Shinji--so, in some universe they both reciprocate their feelings to each other.

In the last movie during that convo with Shinji. Like bREH it’s so emotionally moving because Kaworu remembers ALLLLL the timelines and how he’s been with Shinji and later Shinji himself recalls the events too. Where they show the scene from the manga and anime. Kaworu cries after being set free from the EVA cycle. Which, I definitely understood what he meant by him saying “it’ll be lonely” and how Shinji changed or that he’s actually different this time.

Either way, Shinji did right by him because it’s always Kaworu who has the purpose of “trying to save Shinji” but it always ends up the same. I thought that was really moving because Shinji tells Kaworu he’s gonna let him live a life for himself for once and he wants the same for everyone as well. Which was honestly so meaningful cause I think Kaworu’s character and like Rei too when they start to realise how to “live” like a person and not another puppet it’s truly liberating. Another thing I forgot, bruh Kaworu calls Gendo his father and ngl I feel like this is kind of a weird lore situation because I for sure don’t think he’s the donor. I think he calls him that as an insult because he knows Gendo’s whole doing and relative to Shinji—I kind of see it as a joke LOL. Like it’s equivalent to saying, “daddy chill”, or “hey look it’s daddy and his plans to end the world” also I kind of like to think of it as a father in law thing cause you know, Kawoshin *winks amirite*

The ending, I’m honestly hoping is just an open ending because it gives everything an actual start of their adult lives not being dictated by extraterrestrial forces. Though, I’m kind of wondering if the world doesn’t have EVAs does that still mean everyone else still has the same backstory, and do they remember? Maybe Mari really is just a coworker lmfao, and there’s still a chance for Kaworu and Shinji cause ngl, they did have a convo (presumably from the spoilers) about still remaining close afterwards and that stare at the ending seems very hopeful.

I call bs from Anno saying, “oh Shinji is based off him and Mari off of his wife”, like honestly any OCs made theres always some part of yourself made into that character. Which is probably why a lot of people relate to the characters in EVA because they’re based off real things (e.g. those war machines characters are named after and people around them). I think why Kaworu and Rei are together at the end, is bc they’re very much the same. They’re mass produced dolls—which oddly enough that’s the case for all the children except they don’t recall the loop. Kind of funny also how both Kaworu and Rei became farmers lmfao so ig it runs in the family (yes that’s right I like the idea that they’re siblings it was always noted that they’re like “the same”).

Another thing, i think why the rebuild really did well for Kawoshin and in my opinion canonised it—the convo with elder Ryoji Kaji (Misato’s baby daddy) that there was a time he felt incredibly lonely and depressed thinking Misato didn’t love him and so he started looking out for himself. So self love and found himself a hobby in farming which he suggests to Kaworu—basically saying he might feel like Shinji doesn’t love him but he’s gotta remember to take care of himself. if I go thru a breakup ill feel like it’s the end of the world but Kaji says y’a gotta self love broe and take care yo self gad dam fam 😭 💗.

Though, that look at the end from Shinji to Kaworu—I’d like to believe there is still hope that one day when they’re a bit stable in their adult lives, they’ll run into each other.

A/N: I'm in such a Raleigh mood lately so I had to write something with him, but I wanted to make it really perfect and tbh I'm not sure if I achieved that so feedback is really appreciated! Also I didn't really proof read it so if there's any mistakes, I apolagise.

TW: nothing really maybe just mention of characters death and light smut

The sound of celebration is clearly heard in the room as you lay with Raleigh on the bed, in complete silence. People are celebrating the end of the war, you and Raleigh closed the Breach, and after the two of you went through many tests to see if you had any health issues, you came back to the Shatterdome. Neither you and Raleigh were in the mood to celebrate so you went up to Raleigh’s room and now the two of you are cuddling on his bed, in silence. You’re resting your head on his shoulder, his arm is wrapped around you, holding you close. You only knew each other for a few days, but there was a strong bond between the two of you. Earlier, when you asked Raleigh if he thinks it’s because of the drift, he immediately so confidently said he’s sure it’s not only the drift, you wouldn’t have matched with him during the tryouts if there wasn’t something more. His answer relaxed you, but also made you nervous about your future.

“What will happen now, Raleigh?” You ask quietly, you don’t need to clarify what you mean, your mind is still somehow connected to his. People who drift can ghost-drift for like a year, so your and Raleigh’s brain are still connected, melted together.

“What do you want to happen?” He turns his head to look at you.

“You know what I want.” You whisper again, looking him in the eye hopefully. His eyes skim over your face, drinking in every little detail before he speaks again.

“I don’t want to lose you either. You’re the only one left for me.” he whispers. None of you had any family left, you lost your sister during a fight with a kaiju, just as Raleigh lost his brother during a fight. You decide to be bold, and lean closer to Raleigh to press your lips to his, in a gentle, small kiss. He looks at you surprised first, then he cups your face and leans down to kiss you, softly, as his tongue slips between your lips into your mouth, massaging his tongue gently against yours. You moan the same time as Raleigh groans, and he pulls you closer to himself. You break the kiss breathlessly, and Raleigh touches your forehead with his, a gesture he seems to really like.

You honestly think this whole press tour is ridiculous, you weren't in the mood to recall all the painful memories of the past year’s events, and to answer the reporters, and you know that Raleigh feels the same. The nice side of this whole circus was the nice hotel rooms and meals you got, you don’t remember when was the last time you had proper coffee, and the first time you finally drank coffee again, your body melted. Raleigh and you were sleeping together since the night the war ended, you didn’t had sex yet, but both of you could sleep better when you shared a bed. Until one night it happened. You were making out in the bed, hands are all over each other, and soon Raleigh was on the top of you, deep inside of you, moving perfectly, when it happens again. Your mind connects ro Raleigh’s and his to yours, and suddenly everything what he feels you feel it too, and your pleasure is suddenly his too. You moan his name, hugging him closer as you make love to each other while you ghost drift. You see and feel yourself through him, you know what he thinks about you, and his pleasure adds to yours. Raleigh is about to whisper that he loves you, but he doesn’t need to, you’re in his head and you know he’s about to say it, and you say it back to him, make him feel loved the way he makes you feel loved. Both of you pour your hearts out to each other, completely open your souls for each other.

“Where are we gonna go after this ends?” you ask Raleigh sadly. None of you had a home, and you absolutely have no idea where you should go.

“I have an idea, if you agree with it.” he says with a small smile. You look at him curious before you ask what he has in mind.

“A farm.” Raleigh says happily. You look at him surprised, a shocked expression on your face.

“A farm?” you ask him in disbelief.

“Yes.” he answers and steps closer to you, he places his hands on your hips, pulling you closer to him. “I figured it would be a good escape. We could have some animals, away from people, away from the ocean. There’s always something to do on a farm so we both could keep ourselves a bit busy.” you watch him excitedly express his ideas about your future with him and you can’t help, but smile at him.

“I really like the idea. And you’re right, we should be as far from the ocean as we can.” Both of you had enough of it, and it always brings up bad memories for both of you.

“But you still haven’t answered my question. Where should we go?” you ask Raleigh again.

“How about Budapest?” he asks you, and again, you look at him surprised.

“Why exactly Hungary?” you ask him, but then, you remember. Memories, not yours, of young Yancy and Raleigh floods your brain, you watch the young Becket boys play around. You remember the story, Raleigh and his brother spent a summer in Budapest, and Yancy always wanted to go back there, and this is why Raleigh wants to go there.

“What’s that?” Raleigh asks with a smile.

“I want bunnies.” you answer and Raleigh lets out a laugh.

“You want bunnies?”

“Yes. And chicken.”

“Alright.” Raleigh smiles at you then leans down to kiss you.

And this is how you ended up in a farm, outside Budapest, a really beautiful, big farm, with chickens and bunnies as you wished. It’s almost winter, and Raleigh built a house in the garden for your animals, so they won’t freeze. Raleigh really enjoyed this farm life, every morning he wakes up with such joy to go and feed the animals, collect the eggs, and do whatever he wants to do. And you, you planted flowers and fruits, and even some herbs, and you loved to take care of them, and collect your own fruits and eat them, there was something satisfying in eating something what you grew. You’re sitting on the porch with a hot tea in hand as you watch Raleigh do some work. He wears a simple dark blue knitted sweater, his hair is a little bit longer, so is his beard. You watch him happily work, ever since you moved here both of you are relaxed and really happy. You deserve this, you think, both of you do after all the things you went through. Raleigh slowly walks towards you and sits down next to you in the swing bed what he built, he puts an arm around your shoulders and pulls you close. He places a kiss on your forehead and you lean your head on his shoulder.

“Are you happy?” He asks you and you look at him confused.

“Of course. Why are you asking this?” Raleigh shrugs.

“Just wanted to make sure.”

“And what about you?” you ask Raleigh. He smiles at you softly, there’s something in his eyes what you can’t read. You don’t ghost drift anymore, or at least not as much as you’d like. You genuinely liked ghost drifting with Raleigh, liked feeling so connected to him, it was something unexpected for both of you as lovers, and it made both of you feel incredibly close to each other.

“I’m beyond happy.” he answers and kisses your forehead. You don’t say anything, you keep sitting on the porch in Raleigh’s arms, watching the sunset. At one point Raleigh said you should start making dinner, so you went in the house and you guys made dinner together what you ate, then watched a movie together. You’re sitting on the bed in your fluffy robe, drying your hair with a towel when Raleigh walks out of the bathroom, wearing nothing, but a towel. You look him up and down, water drops dripping down on his perfect body. He walks to his drawer and pulls it out, taking a boxer out and he sits down on the bed next to you. He looks at you with a soft smile, his eyes are full of with admiration for you.

“You’re so beautiful.” he whispers and you smile at him, but before you could say anything he continues “I never thought I could find happiness again after what happened to Yancy. But you came into my life and in the first minute I saw you, I knew I was in love. It probably sounds silly, but it feels like our meeting and that we were drift compatible were all destiny. Two broken people found each other and they found a new family and love. I love you so so much.” he says and takes a small box and places it between you and him on the bed. He opens the blue velvet box and reveals a beautiful, simple diamond engagement ring in it. You gasp when you see it, you look at him shocked.

“Will you make me even happier and will you marry me?” Raleigh asks and you feel tears in your eyes as you nod.

“Yes! Yes of course!” you say happily and you hug Raleigh close. He hugs you even closer, wrapping his big arms around you. You eventually pull away and kiss him passionately, and when you pull away he slips the ring on your finger, and you start a new chapter in your life together.

i was gonna draw smthing in response to this but i’m getting busier so i figured i’ll just write out a response if that’s okay w/ you! i’m probably gonna ramble too cause i really like shane and abigail (I’M SORRY i’ll definitely put it under a read more so my followers can ignore this

so it is a teensy bit outdated only bc way i was rushing on the loves vs. hate portion of her reference. honestly i just think tulips are cute and also i developed a backstory for her revolving around how much she hates joja AFTER i made her so i only realized she hates their products then. i still think her besties are the same would be the same except i’d add sam

ANYWAY if it wasn’t obvious kiki is just drawn to people who are closed off like haley or sebastian. i like dynamics where introverts are bothered by extroverts and opposites attract i’m sorry again

kiki + shane friendship

kiki first noticed shane walking out of the jojamart she habitually avoids and deduced he worked there

having his 2 heart event confirmed that so they were able to bond over a mutual hatred joja - his situation reminds her a bit of her dad since he worked for joja before he... died (which i alluded to a few asks ago)

i'm gonna try not to reveal much about her past since i wanna illustrate it but they bear a lot of similarities in terms of depression

like in the 2 heart event he talks about feeling like failing and not being strong enough, etc. and she gets it b/c that’s why she moved to pelican town too

it’s more like she understands he needs emotional support as opposed to ppl feeding into his insecurities and encouraging bad habits

it’s NOT a friendship where he is constantly leaning on her. i don’t want a codependent friendship to form

like her friendship with haley they’re supposed to be mutually emotionally supportive of each other and help each other grow

while she encourages shane to get help, he’s encouraging HER to also get help instead of layering all her problems under a happy-go-lucky persona

as close as she is to say haley (her #1 best friend imo), i still think shane was actually the one who saw through the whole purely ^_^ part of her for a lack of better words

he could tell she was faking being happy (not that her personality is an entire farce, but all the time would be unrealistic)

he was probably rude enough to say it to her face. but you know when they became friends it became more of a “idc why you ran away but you’re my friend and this is a problem that will inevitably lead to a mental collapse, kiki”

on a lighter note though he used visit the farm habitually because he didn’t trust her enough to take care of the chickens in her new coop for a while

now he just comes over b/c they’re friends and all and also he accidentally got too attached to her chickens since he watched them grow up

they might not have a ton in common but i think she tries really hard to watch stuff like gridball with him even though she fucking hates gridball

abigail + kiki friendship

i have NOT thought about this one a lot i am so sorry i’m a dumb lesbian when i first played sdv i wanted to marry abigail off the bat solely b/c she was a cute gamer who owned a sword. i have high standards for men so i have to make up all sorts of shit to find sebastian bearable but women can do anything and they’re perfect

whatever i still think they’re besties. if she’s dating sebastian, she probably hangs out with abigail and sam by extension. their friendship isn’t as heavy as her friendship with shane but it doesn’t make it less significant to her

also if you recall that one haley comic i did. i actually drew abigail at first but decided i wanted haley

even if kiki didn’t tell abigail about anything that happened to her in zuzu city she drops by pierre’s so much that she visits abigail a LOT. it’s even easier to visit abigail than haley sometimes

i stole this from my friend amal but i also like thinking abigail gives the friends that will let her platonic cheek kisses and kiki is one of them b/c she loves them so much abigail is so cute

and they do it in front of pierre LOL they clown him so much cause he’s such a conservative

kiki intentionally jokes about stealing abigail from him by marrying her (with abigail’s permission) which tbh is a homage to her being the first person i wanted to marry

like kiki still does it to pierre while dating sebastian because yeah pierre knows it couldn’t happen but she just likes making him mad. sebastian gives a fuck either because he hates pierre too

when emily’s too busy abigail helps her redye her hair when her roots start to show. i know apparently abigail’s hair is naturally purple but abigail just thinks it’s fun

and of course she brings abigail to the easier levels in the mines. they practice sword skills together but abigail picks them up so quickly that kiki swears abigail will surpass her one day. it’s also nice to have abigail back her up when she needs to mine ore. she brings abigail more than sebastian because abigail can handle herself

someone please ask me about one of these for haley too. i swear i have a lot more thoughts on her friendship w/ haley. but on that note thanks for sending me this ask! i needed to decompress with oc junk

who is/was your favorite “villain” on the 100?

You know what? That question is too hard. Because there have been some great villains, and then sometimes those villains don’t STAY a villain, and what makes them great might have been what makes them great non-villains. So in order to answer that appropriately, I’m gonna have to go by season.

Season 1-- Bellamy Blake. He most definitely WAS a villain. He was the main villain on the ground for the first half of the season. And the same qualities that made him the best villain made it so Clarke could bring him to her side. Setting up the essential dynamic of learning to understand your enemy as your own shadow, making peace with them, and in so doing, becoming a whole and healthy individual. He’s not the enemy anymore, but that yin yang push and pull gave season 1 it’s energy.

Season 2--Lxa. Wow I never thought I’d say that. But I am. For much the same reasons as Bellamy. The enemy shadow within yourself thing. She might not have stayed a villain (although I maintained she was Clarke’s love interest/antagonist through s3 because she was an obstacle to her getting the peace and unity that she wanted,) but she started one. She’s the reason the grounders attacked the delinquents. She was ready to annihilate them at any moment. Revealing that the water girl was the heda was SUPER bad ass and great female empowerment. I don’t personally like Lxa as a character, but as the villain/antagonist of s2, that’s some good stuff. And tbh, the alliances she made with Clarke, the FRIENDSHIP, the ROMANCE are part of what made her a good villain. Because we thought something good could come of it and then. OMG THE WORST BETRAYAL OF THE WHOLE DAMN SHOW AND THE TRAUMATIC EVENT THAT SET CLARKE UP FOR NEAR DESTRUCTION. Maybe I can say this now because she came back in season 5 and apologized, admitted she was wrong and said that love wasn’t an enemy, thereby allowing Clarke to process and heal from that trauma. hmm.

Oh wow. Wait a minute. There’s a correlation between Clarke’s shadow being Bellamy in season 1 and her shadow being Lxa in season 2 and 3. [symbolism and deep analysis coming up you may want to look away until s3 villain also yes, it subordinates CL in the story to BC, tough noogies. CL is subordinate in the story to BC.] Okay. The same dynamic is set up with BC and with CL with Clarke attempting to win L to her side with the same techniques as she did B. It didn’t work. L refused to partner or give up her power or honor her agreements, leading to that terrible trauma of betrayal, genocide and horror, which she ran away from and was dragged back kicking and screaming to face. I think they used the Clarke’s shadow story of CL to actually deepen the connection between Clarke and Bellamy. They couldn’t have had him betray her that badly and have it come back to be something like a healthy true love relationship. But I think they needed Clarke to sink to the dark side while letting Bellamy rise from his dark side, in order to create the symbolic balance that has them spinning around each other... like binary stars, right? She needed the pain from love but he couldn’t be the one to give it to her. Therefore they brought in another love story to punch Clarke in the heart. Very cruel. Very hard. Intensifies everything. Wow I don’t know if I could do that to my characters. But it was effective. In the long run. Even bringing her back for that resolution after 6 years of healing. (all of this is really about a way to tell a story and make it deeper and more difficult without harming the essential romance irredeemably. Use a mirror of the relationship that plays out some of the possibly harmful elements. Make that relate subconsciously, but not really. you guys can all ignore it. it’s not really about villains. although i like it because you get the enemies to lovers thing but the harmful parts are shifted into the secondary relationship.)

Season 3-- PIKE. I LOVE PIKE. LOVE. I get Pike. Pike is a teacher and he will do ANYTHING to protect his kids. And he was a really good leader and managed to keep Farm Station alive despite being hunted across the mid atlantic. Hey. This also follows the shadow villain theory, because Pike is BELLAMY’S shadow. He is who Bellamy could have become without the balancing element of Clarke. He is a good man at heart who has demonized “the other” in order to protect his own. (This is also what Lxa did, btw. Although she did make alliances when it was in her benefit.) He would not have become as violent as he did if he hadn’t been attacked, but in reaction he became a xenophobe. I mean, I can’t say this isn’t a reaction to the trauma that he experienced. Being hunted by Azgeda. I do think that he could have changed if he’d lived. He was already cooperating with Indra, and while he’s biased and bigoted against grounders, he was not blind. He recognized, I think, that he was wrong and there was room for him to learn. Alas, Octavia took care of that. Also, other than Bellamy and Clarke, he’s tops on my own “hot” list. I know he’s too old for all y’all, but not for me. :)

Season 4-- The real villain is Praimfaya, so I’m gonna pick Roan as my favorite villain. Is he a villain? Is he an ally? No one ever knows. One minute he’s working with them, the next minute he’s capturing someone. One minute he’s making deals with them, the next minute he’s putting roadblocks down in front of them. One minute he’s refusing to be allies, the next minute he’s allying. MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND. If he weren’t raised in Azgeda under Nia, with all that politicking and power plays he might have been a good guy, but he can’t help wanting to replicate the domination of his mother. Too bad because he’s funny and insightful and sarcastic and I think he really LIKES Clarke and Bellamy.

Season 5-- TOUGH TO DECIDE. Is my favorite the awful truly awful Octavia who mucks everything up because she’s gone to the darkside. Or is my favorite the awesome Diyoza who is no longer a villain by the end of the season, but was formidable and quite the opponent, and really another shadow of Clarke, who Clarke could have been if she had been pre-apocalypse. I think I’m going with Diyoza, because she’s funny, and reasonable, and she likes everyone and Octavia is just so damned grim and vindictive. It might make a more evil villain but as for who I like better? I think it’s Diyoza. Both were fun, but Diyoza is fun as in I liked her character, and Octavia was fun as in, OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE SHE DID THAT. Octavia also has that storyline of being the symbolic representation of the toxic state of humanity, caught in the cycle of violence and perpetuating it. She’s definitely more important in the storyline but I like Diyoza better.

Season 6-- Hands down: Josephine. We again have the shadow aspect of Clarke, trying to TAKE OVER Clarke. She’s not as arrogant as Russell, but she’s more psychotic. She’s also funnier and more charming. Kind of combines the fun and evil aspects of Diyoza and Octavia from last season. And she probably edges out Pike as my all time favorite villain because she is both evil AND likeable, whereas Pike was misguided and likable. Well, maybe less likable.Some of him was likeable. And he wasn’t writing pro eugenics books. He was volunteering to go down with the delinquents.Anyway. Josephine has a fantastic story. The way she refused to relinquish Clarke’s body like the entitled brat she was, and then tried to mess with everyone around her to get her way. Of course, when Bellamy had her, and she started digging into his relationship with Clarke that was great for story momentum, and then we had the sympathetic True Love story of Josephine/Gabriel, even though you knew it was wrong. Sympathetic but also toxic. Is true love really good if it enables such evil to be done? ANywAY. Loved Josephine. Also, great outfits. A+ for getting Clarke into some decent clothes. That tailored coat was great.

hey guys sorry about the couple of days i wasn’t posting!! this thing took a little longer than i thought-- but yeah! i’ve seen other artists draw their own interpretations of all the incarnations of Links, and i finally decided to draw the versions i’ve made up together with a friend of mine all in one place! get a load of these fools

Time (Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask): - post-majora’s mask but he still has the scars from oot(dont ask me how idk either) - Really Fucked up. Very Strange Grandpa - despite actually having had the years to grow up this time he still acts like a kid - idk i can’t really describe him but he’s just been through so much stress his only remaining emotion is essentially just “:)” - he’s gone back to hyrule and is just kinda wandering around he got those two shoulder pads as a gift and they’re based off of the ones he has as a ghost - the gauntlets are redesigned golden gauntlets only because i forgot what they looked like - he’s missing his right eye from a wolfos and lost his finger when Ganon slapped his sword out of his hand also he has goron tattoos on his shoulders - headcanon that he’s Zelda’s twin brother but they just never were told about it

Sky (Skyward Sword): - he’s got Sleepy Bitch Disease - just wants to rest...... please let him Sleep For Once - he gets very snappy and Rude, especially when he’s tired but he’s pretty patient and sweet around people he’s fond of - headcanon that he has some form of asthma(because in game hes like constantly gasping for air) - after the events of his game hes just Tuckered Out and just wants to sleep for the rest of his life - i didn’t really give him any redesigns, just let him keep his skyloft outfit - his scars are from demise and ghirahim(jerks)

Twi (Twilight Princess): - COUNTRY BOYYYY I LOVE YOUU - furry boy go awooo - amazing with animals and kids but doesn’t really cope too well in social situations because he gets Nervous - GAY. I WONT ACCEPT ANY OTHER ANSWER - headcanon that he’s the direct descendant of Time - goes back to his Farming Ways after the War and just chills with the rest of Ordon village - most of his scars are from those stupid Ghost Rats but he also has some others from Ganondorf

Wild (Breath of the Wild): - ‘scuse me everyone certified ROWDY BOY comin through - he seems very normal from a distance but as soon as you get close to him you will realize that you just found a Raccoon - *sees anything* oh! yum! - really, really loves cooking and is actually really good at it even if his ingredients come from questionable locations - headcanon that along with every other memory he lost, he also forgot most of what was pressuring him before his Death and is now completely unhinged and will not stop for anyones social standards - he has a couple scars from being blasted by guardians but honestly most of his other ones are because he just really loves rolling down mountainsides

Warrior (Hyrule Warriors): - hh,,, Anxious boy :( - he just really wants approval and he damn well deserves it - when he first got appointed as the hero of whatever and got the master sword he was honestly starting to get a bit cocky - but then Cia Promptly ripped all of that confidence and Rude Boy Behaviour out of him and he became :( again - he could speak beforehand but he got an injury during the battles and is now rendered practically mute - has a couple major scars underneath his scarf/tunic but he managed to keep his face mostly unscathed somehow

Albi (A Link Between Worlds/Tri Force Heroes): - Shy,,,, doesnt like Attention - honestly just wants to be left alone but since he’ss the hero of whatever people just Gave Him Too Much Love - broke down and is now Fashionable - sometimes likes to sew or paint - headcanon that he’s colourblind(tritanopia) - those little marks on his skin are little “wall cracks” from merging too often - has a few scars but no important ones tbh

Minish (The Minish Cap): - small and Super Mad About It - he’s extremely quiet and only really ever talks if he’s mad or asked a question - and even then he says as few words as he can possibly muster - really dedicated blacksmith and is pretty good at his job despite his age - still hangs out with Zelda a whole lot theyre still Best Friends - the scar is from his fight with Vaati and he got an undershirt with a collar to hide it a bit because he feels a bit self conscious about it :(

Engi (Spirit Tracks): - BABY BOY. BABY - fuckin LOVES trains. he would Probably Die without them. still an engineer - completely polite and sweet, calls you sir and stutters a whole lot - also likes to fidget when he doesn’t have anything to do with his hands - secretly completely RIPPED and could probably break you in half if he just weren’t such a sweetheart - missing tooth from Byrne smacking him in the face with his Metal Hand and constantly has scratches but thats just cuz hes clumsy - headcanon that he’s the grandson of Wind - another headcanon that he can see ghosts since he was the only one who could see Zelda when she got absolutely annihilated

Wind (The Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass): - SHIP AHOY BITCHES - absolutely Stupid. goddamn Fool, complete and utter buffoon - tends to be a bit direct and a little too honest but as i said before. complete Dumbass - ADORES to tease and poke fun as long as no one gets hurt - swears like a sailor and IS a sailor. Its All Connected - has a crooked nose because SOMEONE launched him at a wall that one time. Also from that explosion that launched him into that other wall that other time - all his little jewelry things are treasures he found along the way

Alti (A Link To The Past/Oracle of Seasons/Ages/Link’s Awakening): - oof this boi has been through So Much - just so tired of this shit.......... wants a break already - has pink hair because nintendo cant convince me otherwise and also has black roots because that’s his hair colour in the gameboy games - still misses everyone from the wind fish’s dream :( also idk know if he ever came back from the ocean tbh - honestly i know jack shit about any of his games so,,, sorry my boy

Classic (The Legend of Zelda/The Adventure of Link): - the boy who started it all!!! god i love him so - honestly don’t really know much about him either,,, and honestly i dont think there is a lot to know the classic games are pretty plotless - but i like to imagine he’s like every Good Protagonist trope but none of the other links appreciate it a whole lot - “dont worry guys i believe we can do this! :)” cut to the whole group throwing trash at him - also gave him sectoral heterochromia to match the way his eyes look in the first game’s sprites

Quarantine tag game

I was tagged (kinda??) by @germanellewoods

1. Are you staying home from work/school? yep.

2. If you’re staying home, who’s there with you? this might defeat the purpose of quarantining but i’ll try to explain as best i can. Right now i’m with my nan, pop, aunt and uncle, my three cousins, and J’s girlfriend at my uncle and aunt’s farm, but we’re split between two houses and a converted bus.

my nan and pop, being the most at risk, are living in the bus for now. Jo and my aunt and uncle are all still working as normal and are in the other house to prevent cross infection. J, N J’s girlfriend (who im gonna call S from now on) and I have the run of the main house. We still have family meetings most nights and have dinner together when we can, we just have to be careful about being seen all at once (the police came knocking cause they thought we were having a party but it was literally like 4 of us having a rave in the kitchen to 2000s pop.).

also Jo won’t sop making Fire Emblem: Three Houses jokes. So thats something.

TL;DR: staying with like 8 other people, could be seen as slightly dodgy.

3. Do you have pets to keep you company? yes. My dog Benny and my uncle’s dog Lilly.

4. Who do you miss the most? since I’m quarantining with my entire fam, i’d say @cursedmybedroom . Love ya Liv!

5. When was the last time you left your home? This morning it was my turn to run errands since i had to sort out something at the centrelink a few towns over.

6. What was the last thing you bought? usb adapter for my computer, and groceries.

7. Is quarantine driving you insane or are you finally relaxed? its not quarantine thats driving me nuts, its online uni.

8. Are you a homebody? yes.

9. What movies have you watched recently I watched Hidden Figures last night with my nan and pop, but im more of a tv show person imo

10. An event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled? My uni’s performance of Wicked. You can get free tickets to shows that the performing arts guys put on every few months if you’re a student at my university. I’m sure there’ll be others but I’ve wanted to see Wicked for ages. Let’s just hope Legally Blonde isnt cancelled.

11. What’s the worst thing that you’ve had to cancel? J’s 21st.

12. What’s the best thing that you’ve had to cancel? I had two quizzes for a class that have now been merged into one and pushed back a few weeks!

13. Do you have any new hobbies? Nope!

14. What are you out of? milk.

15. What music are you listening to? mainly dance/edm, early 2010s pop and bands like Muse or Breaking Benjamin.

16. What shows are you watching? Castlevania and Stranger Things (for like the 50th time lmao)

17. What are you reading? Nothing except my textbooks rn tbh.

18. What are you doing for self-care? Video game nights with my cousins! Jo seems particuuarly insistent that he can kick my ass at Mario Kart (spoiler alert: he cant, doesnt stop him from trying tho). Besides that, we’re outlining a Castlevania AU that will probably never see the light of day, but its fun to plan out, unitl it gets angsty.

19. Are you exercising? There’s still chores and stuff to do around the farm but apart from tat i’m innundated in uni work so not really??

20. How’s your toilet paper supply? No idea lmao. I know there’s plenty at my place though.

21. Have you made any changes to your hair during quarantine? nope!

Dasey Post

Filmmakerdream asked me in another post to tell them a little more about Daseys daughter that I headcanon , so I’m gonna talk a little bit about the whole fam, but mostly their daughter, ok here it goes.

Her name is B. Beatrice Ida Venturi.

Casey had Beatrice picked out since she was 13, and Ida was ½ of an elderly couple that Dasey met when they moved to Toronto that basically adopted them. She was born 06/06/2017. She’s an only child, because with Edwin, Lizzie, and Marti; Derek and Casey basically already raised 3 kids (if you don’t count their parents). She’s the oldest of the 10 cousins.

Marti had her oldest son, Richie, when B was two, and her youngest son, Robbie, two years after that. And since they all live in Toronto together; B and her boys are really close.

Richie and Robbie have different fathers, and tbh Marti doesn’t actually remember their names. But to be fair she was 20. And while a single mom, she became the youngest detective in TPD history. She eventually fell in love with her partner Nick and they had a little girl named Ruth.

Edwin became a lawyer and he lives in Vancouver. But his wife doesn’t have a family of her own so the MacDonald-Venturi clan gets both of them and all their kids for the holidays. His wife Fiona was a little hesitant to have kids, but once Edwin convinced her, she had baby fever. They had 2 and adopted 4.

Lizzie opted to be the designated “fun aunt”. All the perks, none of the responsibility. She tried art school, but ended up moving about an hour outside of Toronto and living in a commune. Like a hippy farm where they grow and sell their own produce and organize environmental rights protests in their spare time. She’s bi and doesn’t have a long term relationship until she meets her girlfriend Kate. They end up Turing the commune into a safe haven for LGBT+ kids.

But back to B. And Dasey.

Derek and Casey finally got together on the night of their parents 10th anniversary. Casey through them a huge party and Derek forced her to take a break and dance with him. They went for it as soon as they got back to their parents house (shared basement guest rooms). They told all their siblings about their relationship pretty quickly but hid it from their parents for a while.

The week of Valentine’s day 2016, Derek took Casey to Iceland, somewhere she always wanted to go, and they eloped on the 17th. They didn’t really mind the fact that it was winter, it’s not like they left their room anyway .

When they got home they told their parents. George and Nora were not happy. They never saw it coming and had a very comfortable life, in their little rose-colored, Brady-bunch, bubble. Dasey asked them not to reach out until they were ready to be supportive and out of loyalty all the kids stopped taking to their parents. Except Simon, being a child he didn’t really have an opinion. (I’m sure after a few years they swallow their pride.maybe.)

Dasey were upset at first but they were too happy to care when they found out about B.

They wrote a book together about their story. It sold fast and they are fairly wealthy to put modestly. They have a nice house in Toronto, and a penthouse in Paris. Where they spend every summer.

Not that they need day jobs but; Derek works for Casey’s dad, they’re best friends now. And while Casey was in political journalism fresh out of college, she hated her job and Derek talked her into quitting and starting her own event planning business. Her calling.

But now onto B.

She’s got soft brown hair and green eyes (her mom has blue her dad has Brown). She looks so sweet and innocent and is just as kind and bubbly as her mother. You’d really think that she was Casey. Derek thought she was gonna be Casey. He spent her whole childhood worrying that she would grow up to be just like her mom and end up with sometime just like him.

But then one day, when she was about 16, Derek got called into her school to find she had been expelled. For punching some girl in the face. After presenting her family tree project and said girl Making fun of their family. Less than a week later she got kicked out of her new all-girls school for protesting the dress code by starting a shirt-burning riot in the court yard.

And that was when Derek realized that his little girl wouldn’t end up with someone like him. Because she IS him.

She’s all of her mothers girl power, adorable, hyper active heart. With all of her dad’s over protective of loved ones loyalty and ready to kill anyone who tests her fam.

She’s never that teenager who hates her parents. Her parents are her favorite people. They come to all her bands shows, they support her leaving school, skipping college, and starting her own business, they’re her best friends.

What else? Ummm….

While she’s still in school; Dasey are on the PTA. Casey is that mom that all the other moms hate because she doesn’t have a plastic surgeon or a personal trainer she just looks that amazing AND has the hottest husband. Neither one of them ages, Derek says it’s cause happiness keeps them young.

Derek’s that dad that actually teaches her stuff. Guitar, life lessons, other languages. He’ll even learn something new just to help her Learn it easier. He’s ride or die supportive too. She could be brawling on the playground and he could walk into the fight 10 minutes late and instead of getting involved he’d just smile proudly and place a bet on his baby girl winning.

Casey’s that mom that packs overly nutritious lunches but burns everything at dinner. She’s that mom that totally takes over all the school projects. She’s that picking up B from daycare “MY DAUGHTER DID NOT BITE YOUR DAUGHTER AND I WILL TAKE THIS TO COURT” kind of mom.

When B is a teenager she likes to take sneaky videos of her parents being cute or play fighting, but she never gets much footage, cause they always end up making out and she has to leave the room.

Even when they’re old, they can’t keep their hands of each other. They’re that couple that everyone hates cause they’re too perfect and so in love.

And after a 10 year wait they deserve it.

OKAY, SO, his parents were blue-collar workers. his mother was a grade school teacher & his father worked as a farm hand that helped cultivate whatever crops/resources were in season at the time.

both of his parents died in a car accident when he was ten & his sister was 8. as a result, they both moved in with his grandparents, who mostly got by on union checks & what not.

in other words, money was always tight. obviously, in such a small town, a tragedy like that didn’t stay a secret. kade never really had the time to thoughtfully process his emotions regarding the death of his parents, tbh. he felt as though he was responsible for taking care of his sister & his grandparents almost immediately.

sooooo, he became very stoic ? in a way ? he didn’t want anyone to pity him, nor did he let anyone see how much the tragedy impacted him. he kinda just … internalized it all, i guess.

it didn’t take long for kade to realize that to provide for himself & his sister, he would need to get OUT of greenville. the easiest way he thought to do that was through education. aka, dude let his nerd flag fly.

BUT he tried to do his best to never let his studies impact his social life. he is naturally a pretty good dude, very charismatic, sarcasm is a minor defense mechanism ( he can be a lil salty & he isn’t shy about it tbh ) , he was a part of a lot of clubs in high school, as well as the school soccer team. he was social & got along with most but he has never been the guy that was really in people’s face about things unless it comes to defending people. so he would’ve been a little less loud, a little more quiet, always happy to let other people take the spot light.

he is protective AS FUCK & he isn’t afraid to stick up for the people he cares about or for those who he feels like are being unjustly harmed ( kade is a bit taller than zayn, about 6’2”, and has a bit of muscle on him for reasons that i’ll explain in like … 2 seconds xD )

upon graduation, kade received a scholarship to NYU. so, he moved to new york city to study business and worked as a barback to pay for extra expenses . however, the scholarship doesn’t cover all of his expenses & he was still sending money home to his sister to help her get her what she needs. so, he got a position as a bar back at a popular nightclub to pay for it all. BUT SHIT IS EXPENSIVE & it wasn’t anywhere near enough money.

soooooo, through connections he made at the nightclub, he became a high end male escort. yup, you read that right, KADE IS A PRICEY GIGOLO. aka why he has a bit more muscle on him, as being physically fit increased his prices. the escort service he works for was experiencing a shortage in male escorts because most of the men that work for the service catered to male clients. so, even tho kade is bi, he only has female clients. kade is primarily attracted to women anyways, but there is the occasional male that he is like “damn”

ANYWAY, most of his clients are wealthy, married women in early 30s to early 50s. i cannot stress this enough: HE DOESN’T HAVE SEX WITH ALL OF HIS CLIENTS. shocking, ikr. he was just as surprised. but being a male escort is a lot more than just having sex, he has to provide an entire experience to meet his clients emotional needs. sometimes, that means he has sex with them. other times, it can mean going to an event & flaming their egos, or taking them on a date & giving them the romantic experience they are lacking in their marriages. it honestly varies.

as a high-end male escort in new york city, kade makes a shit ton of money. like … a lot. enough to pay off his student expenses that aren’t covered by his scholarship, enough that he can help cover some of his sister’s expenses now that she is in college ( she went to nyu to be close to him ) , and save a little on the side.

he graduated recently with his bachelor’s in business. he did so well as a male escort that he now works more on the business side of the escort service but he still sees a client or two every week or so.

like he was in high school, kade isn’t very loud or in your face with his wealth tho. he likes nice things but he primarily saves his money. he definitely is A LOT more confident in himself and is more charismatic than he was. it goes without saying that that confidence is primarily because of his job as an escort, he learned a lot more about developing relationships with other people, the human connection, etc.

he is a sarcastic piece of trash but not in a shady way ( unless he is being protective or he just doesn’t like someone, in which case he is totally shady )

in new york, he doesn’t really care what other people think about his job but he will be less open about it at the reunion. he won’t lie about what he does for a living, but he won’t readily bring it up either xD

Top 5 Things I Liked About RWBY Volume 4

This is going out later than I was hoping, but hey better now that never. Anyways, I honestly think that V4 is a pretty underrated Volume. There’s a lot that I really enjoy about it and after the insanity of V3, I’m glad that we got a more lowkey season that let everyone begin to heal. I’m hoping that RvB18 will follow that path tbh, but that’s not important here. There’s a lot to like, so let’s talk about the Top 5 Things I Liked About RWBY Volume 4!

#5. The Switch to Maya/Improved Animation

For Volumes 1-3, animaiton was primarily done in a program called Poser. This was mainly because it was what Monty liked to use, especially for fight animation. Poer isn’t an animation program, it is a modeling program that Monty was able to work for what he needed, but again it is not a proper animation program. V3 looks amazing, but I think that it was clear that they had reached their limit on how much they could push it. Add that with now having a larger animation staff, and it was time for a change. As such, they shifted to Maya, a common animaiton program in the field, and I am going to say it… it was 100% the right choice.

The animaiton in the Poser Era wasn’t bad, but… there were plenty of times where it felt like expressions and casual movements were very stiff. V4 changed that massively. There is so much more facial expression, but not just that. Take Blake’s cat ears for example. They are SO expressive in every scene that she’s in. Sure it might be because she threw out the bow, but still! I really don’t think that they could have done that in Poser. Animaiton models improved, like Sun’s abs no longer being glued to him for example and his little necklace sometimes daggling about. Environments look more vibrant. Environments have improved. Things like shading look better. And while the fight scenes aren’t Monty-like anymore, they are still really good! Seriously, Qrow vs Tyrian is still awesome~

I know that the shift wasn’t something liked by everyone, though I think that the vast majority have come around since V4. The animaiton has only kept improving after this, and it’s crazy going back to V1 and seeing the difference. But they sold me the second that they released the Ruby Trailer in the lead-up to the volume. Maya has allowed for a lot of improvement and new opportunities, and I believe that RT made the right choice in transitioning over to it. V4 looked so good, especially with how many new locations that it introduced us to, and I freakin’ love it~

#4. Expansion On The World

Volume 4, above all, is a world-building volume. We spent all of our time in the first three volumes primarily in Beacon and the city fo Vale. The only locations that we got a substantial amount of time in otherwise were Mountain Glenn and the Amity Arena for the Vytal Festival. Otherwise, we’ve been stuck in one place despite knowing that there is a much larger world out there. Thankfully though, this volume takes us outside the Kingdom of Vale and finally allowed us to explore the rest of Remnant… well, parts of it. Still, more than the other volumes had.

This was an advantage of using the multiple plotlines.. We got a really good amount of new locations. RNJR was in Anima, which had a lot of Asian-inspired scenery and naming. Yeah, we mostly spend the time on trails and villages, but you can still see the difference between the villages and Vale. Which we got to see what it’s like outside of Vale. Some villages like Higanbana are nice, while others like Shion or Kuroyuri… well… it emphasizes just how bleak the world truly is. Vale was an overall safe place, and even that wasn’t safe. If you don’t live within a kingdom though? Hope that luck is on your side.

We also get to see Menagerie for the first time. Sadly we don’t get to see as much here or in V5, but we do get to see how cramped it is and it overall looks nice. You can see that, as Blake said, they tried to make it a welcoming place for Faunus. We get to see Weiss’ home, which is as empty and cold as you would have imagined it being. It looks grand, but it’s just… empty and quiet with Weiss, more or less, alone aside from Klein. Patch is nice, you can certainly see why Tai would raise his kids there and in contrast to Weiss’ home, it’s small but the peaceful and comforting environment that Yang needed. Salem’s realm is eerie. Oscar’s farm is… a farm. And Mistral? Amazing.

What I’m getting at here is that we learn so much more about the world. Even outside exploring new locations, we learn about the Relics and the God Brothers. We start to get an understanding of the war between Oz and Salem, though of course, we learn the true scale in V6. The volume does a lot to make Remnant feel more like an actual world full of stories, problems, and history. It took us out of the hub that we were used to with Volumes 1-3, and I think that they did so very well. Very much appreciate it~

#3. Yang Plotline

While Yang got the least amount of focus, I… don’t view that as a bad thing. A story can’t be dictated by screentime alone. You have to look at how well they executed what they needed to do in the amount of time that they had. For example, they didn’t do very well with Ruby in V5 with the time that they had, but we’ll save that for the V5 posts. For V4, as I said, Oscar didn’t get the proper development and they didn’t utilize the amount fo time that they had for him well. But Yang though? I thought that they did her very well here.

Yang’s plot is, of course, recovering after losing her arm and getting back into fighting condition so that she can go after Ruby. We see that she has PTSD, having flashbacks and nightmares and her emotional state is… not in the bright place that we’re used to. Chapter 4, the chapter mainly focused on her, shows how concerned she is about taking the first steps of recovery, though we do see her start to laugh and joke around again. With Tai’s encouragement and support, Yang ut son the new arm, trains again and Tai helps her see the disadvantages of her fighting style/Semblance reliance, and opens up to her about Raven. In the end, Yang’s ready to go after her sister. She’s not 100% healed, but she’s got her drive back and is ready to move ahead.

Now again, Yang gets the least amount of focus. She only gets one chapter dedicated to her, and otherwise, her’s appears the least out of the four RWBY girls. But they utilized that time very well. They don’t drag it out or rush through it. They set up Yang’s mental state, show us signs of her PTSD, have Tai give her the proper encouragement, and have her start to get back on her feet. I’m glad that they were just straightforward with it, there was no need to drag it out especially since V5 and 6 show that there are still things that she has to work through. The point for this volume though was to get Yang well enough mentally for her to get back out onto the field, and they did that very well. She was in a positive environment as well, and that probably helped her.

So yeah, when I look back at the Yang plot, I have no issues with it. I think that it was given the amount of attention that it needed. It wasn’t rushed, but it wasn’t dragged out either. Yang didn’t fully recover, but she got well enough to move forward. That was the ultimate goal for everyone’s plotline, and they achieved it here. But I’m gonna leave it at 3 since it is a bit of a bummer that she got limited screentime. But for what it’s worth, they used that time properly and I am happy with the final result.

#2. Weiss Plotline

Out of all the plots, Weiss’ is my favorite and imo, the best one done. This is because this is the conclusion to her three volumes worth of character development. As I said n the V3 Likes post, her plot had her decide to finally cut herself away from her father for good and move ahead with the life that she wanted. Sadly, due to the Fall, Jaques had the perfect excuse to got o Vale and force her to return to Atlas with him. So just as quickly a she was able to embrace her freedom and the choice to never turn back, fate dealt her a bad hand and she was her father’s prisoner once more. Which she literally becomes a prisoner after her outburst at the charity event and gets stripped of her title. It’s just… horrible to watch that scene. Really, any scene with her and Jaques is uncomfortable, especially when he slaps her.

This is when we truly get to see Jaques abuse first hand, and it is as horrible as the previous hints indicated. He’s condescending and passive-aggressive to Weiss. He treats her like she’s a child and an employee more than as a parent. Compare it to Tai or Ghira with Yang and Blake, where they are nothing but caring and supportive to their daughters. Ghira especially welcomed Blake back with open arms despite how she called them cowards in the past and was just glad that she found her way again and was safe. Jaques only cares about Weiss for his image and to use her when it suits his needs, whether Weiss is willing to do it or not. He makes her sing rather than ask her. He refuses to let her out fo his sight during the charity gala. He talks down to her. He tries to gaslight her into everything being her fault and like her outburst was wrong.

Weiss did NOTHING wrong. She, and maybe Ironwood, were the only ones at that charity who gave a damn about Vale. Seeing her in that environment, where people were snobby, argumentative, and only cared about their own petty problems makes you really, really appreciate how much she had grown. She had broken out of that mindset after V1 and when the Trophy Wife claims that Vale deserved what it got, she rightfully calls her and everyone else out on their bullshit and refuses to let Jaques shut her up. Yeah, it ends badly with Weiss losing her title and Whitley rubbing it in. Weiss had no one aside form Klein, who is an actual good person who showed Weiss kindness and care moreso than her own family ever did. When Weiss breaks down, ti just… hurts. But luckily, at her lowest point, Weiss decides that enough is enough. She gets back out Myrtenaster, perfects her Summoning Glyph, and decides to break free once and for all. Klein helps her escape, and she manages to get onto a plane heading for Mistral. Which leads to… more problems, but that’s for the next volume.

Weiss’ plotline was very well done. It gets you to see how far that she’s come since Volume 1. She wanted to break free and become better, and she did. Jaques tries to lock her away again, but he failed. Weiss had gotten a taste of freedom, and she was going to reclaim it. She was going to redeem her family name her way by being a Huntress and no one was going to stop her. As This Life is Mine stated, “I won’t be possessed/burdened by your royal test/I will not surrender, this life is mine.” Yes Weiss, it is indeed.

Weiss was great, but there is one character whose focus I appreciated not just because it was good, but because it saved that character in my eyes.

#1. Ren Becoming a Character

I haven’t talked much about Ren and Nora, and that was because up until now… there wasn’t much to talk about. While I liked them fine enough, in V1-3 they’re just… there. It felt like they existed just because Jaune and Pyrrha had to be part of a four-man team because they’re nothing more than supporting characters there. Nora at least was funny and bubbly so she was at least fun, but Ren? He was just… quiet and the straight-man to Nora’s antics. That was it. He didn’t feel like a character, he just felt like a necessity needed to fill in a spot. My biggest hope with V4 was, now with JNR traveling with RWBYt hey would do something, anything to flesh out Ren and Nora. At least for one of them.

Fortunately, I got my wish.

To be fair, RWBY Chibi had gotten me to warm up to Ren since they got a lot out of him in several of the skits. More than I thought that they could. But I also like Chibi!Neo FAR more than I like Canon!Neo, so that wasn’t saying much. But fortunately, Volume 4 came around! Ren was really great in this volume! He’s still the quiet one, though he gets more here than any other volume. Which is something to note real quick. Neath has done a fantastic job as Ren. I can’t imagine how it had to have felt since he was taking over Monty’s spot. His brother’s spot. But he has done a perfect job since Day One, and I can’t imagine anyone else int he role at this point. He especially shows his range in this volume, and for a guy who had never voice acted until he started doing Ren, he pulls it off perfectly. I love Neath.

Ren is from Anima, but outside Mistral, so he’s of course the most knowledgeable of the area. We get to see more of his tracking and fighting skills, which is as fun to see as it was in Volume 1 which was the last time he got to showcase his fighting style. We get to see him interact with not only Nora, which was really nice especially with Jaune. But most of all, we get to see how Ren’s past affected him. His reaction to the destruction fo Shion perfectly fits due to what happened to Kuroyuri. His refusal to go back there makes sense since… well, no one likes to revisit the source of their trauma. He tells us about Oniyuri, and through him we see just how difficult it is to live outside the Kingdoms. We saw that with what happened to Shion, but Ren is a character that we’ve known for years and we get to see and hear about it through him. Which makes it hit us harder because it affects a character that we’ve known for so long. And when we get to the flashback and see how happy Ren’s life was and how it all went to Hell in just one night? It breaks your heart. We also finally learn his Semblance, which fits him perfectly so that was also appreciated.

But most of all, we get to Kuroyuri, and it’s the first time that we see Ren lose it. He’s always been a very calm, very tranquil person but when the Nucklavee attacks, he is understandably terrified… and then just lose it. We’ve NEVER seen him get angry before, but seeing the monster that ruined his life, killed his family, and destroyed his home? Yeah, that’ll make anyone snap. But thankfully, Nora snaps him out of it and this is when we see just how strong their relationship is. When Ren lost everything, he found Nora who had absolutely no one, and befriended her. They fought together. They survived together. They went through everything together, both good and bad. So fo course Nora could see that Ren was losing it, and she was the only one who could pull him back and stop him before he lost himself I’d still like them to be more clear on if Renora is canon or not cause I still really don’t know. But at least we get to see that their dynamic isn’t just the ‘hyper girl, calm guy’ dynamic. There is a true bond there, and it’s just beautiful.

It ends with Ren suing his father’s knife, the only thing of his family that he still has, to kill the Nuclavee. For his parents. For all the lives stolen. And, of course, for himself. This was him confronting his trauma, and finally putting it to rest and moving forward. That’s the biggest theme of this volume honestly, taking what brought you down, and moving forward. Yang began to stand up again after her trauma. Blake decided to quit running and to rise up against the White Fang once and for all. Weiss broke free of her father despite him trying to pull her back. Ruby saw just how bad the world truly was along with the Fall of Beacon still haunting her, but took ti and strengthened her resolve to be a Huntress and make things better as much as possible. And Ren? He chose to go back to Kurroyuri to save his friends and destroyed the monster that made so many suffer but without giving in to his sorrow.

The volume just made me love Ren and see him more as a character than I had before. He’s one of my absolute favorites no. I’m hoping that V7 is going to do the same with Nora since at this point, I feel that she’s the most under-developed of the main cast. But we’ll just have to wait and see. Regardless, V4 changed my opinion of Ren completely and his story was done very well. As such, it my favorite thing about RWBY Volume 4.

And another volume done! So… next we get to Volume 5. Ho boy, I haven’t revisited it since it ended and not for the reasons that you think. But we’ll talk more on those posts. For now, thanks for reading everyone~!

was (kinda) nice to the farm station prisoners because there’s certain rules of prisoners of war he abides to like basic human decency and necessities like fucking food and water and rest (but tybe didn’t obvi)

remained under tybe’s orders until bellamy and crew turned up with the royal seal

was gonna kill tybe himself when the generator explodes

(for rp purposes) he’s captured by bellamy and crew and taken to arkadia where he can idk meet all the gang and eavesdrop on praimfaya and all the second dawn bullshit

idk gets released, goes to polis and watches the conclave. gets to hunker down w/ the bunker crew

season 5

spends 6 years with wonkru, probably did have to fight in the pits a few times because he’s a little shit who tends to get into fights on a regular but ultimately he’d not get too involved with bloodreina

(i’ve got a lot of thoughts on how the bunker sustained itself beyond food / water tbh but wonkru isn’t a thing that erik would particularly stand by. he’s azgeda and no one’s taking that from him)

also i have no idea what happens in this season beyond the major events so like

when echo shows up erik’s just gonna be like 👀 noah fence but im gonna side with her in all things now thanks bye

(alternatively) he could go with spacekru up to the ring, bit of a shock

would likely get along better with echo and emori rather than any skaikru for a while

mostly because they all know he was one of the warriors responsible for the slaughter and indentured servitude of farm station survivors

erik would be very interested in all the tech and would likely spend the time on the ring learning everything he can about machinery / technology and reading whatever digital books were available on the ring

on the ground he would have likely sought out any azgeda survivors in wonkru and spent the whole time siding with echo over any kind of decisions

get’s frozen in space or smt whatever

season 6

i have no idea what this season is so lets just say erik is echo’s shadow person the whole time idk
