It’s a quiet evening, and the Avengers that lived in the compound decided to take advantage of the rainy evening and have a movie night. Steve had called Tony over, who had brought Peter with him. The father and son duo has stopped on the way from the city to pick up a plethora of unhealthy snacks, including everyone’s favorite chips and candies.
They’re currently all settled in the common room watching She-Ra. Peter’s head is resing on Tony’s shoulder, Thor is snuggled up to Bruce, Natasha and Clint are sitting in the same recliner, Wanda and Vision are on one side of the love seat, Steve on the other side of Tony, Bucky and Sam sitting on the floor behind the coffee table.
They’re at the part where Adora is being stalked by Shadow Weaver in Mystacor, when the TV suddenly flickers, the audio warping. There’s a buzzing sound behind them closer to the kitchenette.
Everyone straightens in their seats, suddenly on alert.
“Friday,” Tony barks, pushing Peter behind him, “Lights.”
The lights cut on and everyone in the room watches as the air seems to distort and glow, similarly to when the sun beats down on the pavement, before a blonde man walks out with a cuffed and collared Loki behind him.
Every person in the room jumps into a defensive stance, some already with weapons that are always stashed and hidden throughout the compound, and each ready to fight at a moment’s notice.
Thor leaps over the couch and calls his hammer to him in one swift movement, but he doesn’t look frightened or angry.
He just looks… Mournful.
“Loki?” He says with apprehension, tilting his head.
It looks like Loki, and he’s certainly bound the way Loki should be if he were up to no good. But he watched Loki die. He watched Thanos crush the life out of him and toss him to the floor of that ship as if he were a worthless piece of balled up paper.
The blonde man holds up his hands in front of himself, as if to signal that they’re not here to cause any harm.
“Please, allow me to explain why we are here before this turns ugly.” The stranger pleads.
Thor looks back to his team, making eye contact with Tony and Steve.
They look apprehensive, and Tony has an iron grip on his kid, but Steve nods carefully.
Thor turns back to the stranger and nods, but his focus is mainly on Loki, “Go ahead.”
The man drops his hands and pockets them before beginning his story, “Okay. My name is Mobius, and I am a Timekeeper. My job, like Thor is probably aware, is to keep the timelines safe, intact, and to keep them from ever intersecting. When the Avengers used the Pym Particles to go back in time and retrieve the Infinity Stones; Stark, Rogers, Banner, and Lang went back to the Battle of New York in 2012. When they infiltrated the 2012 Avengers to get a hold of the tesseract, they made an error that caused the tesseract to fall into the hands of that Loki.”
Thor’s brows shot up to his hairline and he whipped around to look at Tony, “What? Why was I not informed of this?”
Now it’s Tony’s turn to hold his hands up, “Okay, hey. We didn’t have time to focus on that, and you were still grieving your brother. It would not have done anyone any good to bring it up while we were still in the fight of our lives.”
“And what about after?” He barks.
“While I agree this is something you all should discuss, I respectfully ask that you do that later,” Mobius interrupts, “I have places to be.”
Thor huffs and gives Tony one last glare before he turns back to the two other men.
“Right, anyways. When Loki took the tesseract and escaped, he broke that timeline. It caused multiple branches off of it,” He starts to take a step forward to the group, but decides against it when Thor’s nostrils flare, “We tracked him down, arrested him, and brought him into custody. He was given the option of life in prison or parole if he agreed to help us fix the timeline and erase the others. And I’m sure you can imagine what he chose.”
“I mean, there wasn’t much of a choice, was there?” Loki mumbles.
“Do you mind?” Mobius mumbles back, then turns to finish his story, “Through several months of helping us, Loki has proved himself to be, well, no longer a universal threat.”
“How do we know you aren’t under some spell of his?” Natasha asks, “Or working with him?”
“You don’t,” Mobius shrugs, “But he does know everything that has happened to him and those around him up until his final death. He was given the choice of choosing where he wanted to go at his time of being released, and I believe it says something for him to choose here.”
“Not much, actually. He’s manipulative.” Steve chimes in.
Mobius holds a finger up, “That he is. But unlike before, he has a lot more to lose this time.”
Thor crosses his arms, “And what would that be?”

You hum as you stock the shelves with the new shipment of books you just received.
It’s a nice day out. Mid April, the trees and flowers are blooming, and it’s finally nice enough outside to leave windows open. The mini fan is running on the counter where the register is, and the music is flowing quietly throughout your shop.
A very pleasant day, indeed.
You hear the windchimes attached to the shop door tinkle brightly, and you call over your shoulder as you finish placing the last few books, “Welcome! I’ll be right with you!”
When you’re finished, you grab the now empty cardboard box and use your pocket knife to break it down as you walk back to the front of the small store.
When you look up, a tall man with dark hair and a black suit is standing by the register, hands in his pockets. He’s incredibly handsome and as your eyes scan his features, you can’t help but feel like you have seen him before.
“Hi! How can I help you?” You ask, tossing the now flattened box onto a pile of others before walking behind the counter.
The man looks at you, tearing his gaze from a picture you had behind the counter, and his eyes meet yours. For the briefest of moments, you think you see grief flash across his emerald eyes. But as quick as you think you saw it, it's gone.
“Hello,” He greets, his voice satiny smooth, “A friend of mine recommended a book, and I was wondering if you could help me get my hands on a copy.”
“Sure!” You lean against the counter and fold your hands, “What’s it called?”
“I believe it’s called Norse Mythology, written by a Neil Gaiman.”
Your eyes light up and you push off your elbows to stand, “That’s my favorite book! Your friend must have amazing taste!” You wink.
He nods, eyes never leaving you, “I like to think so.”
“I definitely have it! Can’t really consider myself a good bookstore owner if I don’t keep my favorite books in stock, follow me.” You walk out from behind the counter and wave the handsome man to follow you. You know exactly where to go, and weave expertly between the shelves of your small shop. You finally come to a halt and reach down to grab the book, handing it to him, “Here you are.”
He takes the book from you and offers a kind smile and he turns it over in his hands, reading the back, “Thank you.”
“Of course, let’s go get you checked out,” You smile, staring at the handsome stranger before you realize what you’re doing.
The two of you walk back to the front of the store, and he lays the book down for you to scan it.
You take another look at him, and you’re not sure what possesses you to say it. You later account it to having been alone for so long.
“Actually- Here...” You lean down under the counter where you have your own stash of books, and grab your own copy of Norse Mythology. You stand back up and place it in front of him, “Why don’t you borrow my copy? I know it’s not as pretty as a new one, but if you don’t like it, you won’t have wasted the money. If you do like it, we can talk about it. Either way, you’ll have to return it,” You look down to the countertop before bringing your eyes to meet him once more, “And I can see you again.”
A beautifully sweet smile spreads across the man’s face. His eyes flicker down, noticing that you’re picking at your nails; it’s your nervous habit. He places a hand on the worn paperback book, “Lovely. Sounds like a plan to me. Shall we say next week, this time?”
Your smile brightens considerably, and you feel butterflies come to life in your belly, “See you then.”
He bends at the waist, bowing slightly, and turns to leave. You watch as his slender hand grabs the door knob, when a thought occurs to you.
“Wait!” You shout, reaching out your hand.
He stops dead in his tracks and turns back to you, an eyebrow quirked.
“What’s your name?”
He stiffens slightly. It’s so subtle that you barely notice it, but you do. Finally, a soft look adorns the man’s handsome features, and he looks a little sad. But he still answers.
“Loki.”

yeah my assumption is that the special place will have to do with testing/forging bonds more than anything. if ruby and neo can reconcile and forge a new bond, it allows ruby and jaune to reconcile, which heals the wound of penny, and potentially gives empathy to not only cinder but salem as well.
blake and yang of course have their own thing going on (yang fails to truly save ruby, blake fails to save yang, blake fails to save ruby) which on top of the powder keg of Never Talking About What They Did In V6 beyond "we did what we had to" sets up an interesting and serious arc for THEM to talk (what they've done, where they stand, what they want in this relationship).
r/wby is about The Power Of Friendship and Teamwork and Love!!! it makes sense that their special world needs everyone to work together to get out (to me at least) though i also understand why people think it's gonna deal with dead characters (though that could be more of a 'they have to work through their pasts' than a legit They Have To Face The Ghosts of Dead Loved Ones and Enemies)
also i think that if they were going to leave anyone behind they would have written an uneven amount of people falling. (yes im holding onto hope that neo gets redeemed and gets to hang out with the heroes :( )
Hi Cherry, thanks for your ask.
Yes, in one of the posts I linked about Jaune, I suspected they were saving the consequences of killing Adam to line up with exploring Penny, and then if Raven turns up in the way I think she does, Summer will intersect with that. A necessary/mercy killing, or one Raven wished she could've done. See misstrashchan's ask about it here. All three lining up is pleasing. So again I really doubt for Jaune to be specifically condemned/excluded for it, at least in terms of narrative consequences.
But yes, I expect to be subjected to another reforging teamwork narrative and probably at least one speech about the importance of friendship. I can't wait.
Obviously my mythic/religious references to underworld descent are constrained in the sense I haven't paid attention to how, say, Oz does it, or other children's literature with Special Worlds does it (at least recently) such as Alice in Wonderland or Peter Pan etc., but I can at least speak on what are the fundamentals you'd expect.
A soft redemption arc for Neo seems likely, but she's honestly not all that evil to begin with (maybe more than Emerald, so that's why she's coming after her) and obviously she's an audience cult favourite. Then again Emerald's redemption was a 'when' not an 'if', and Neo's just seems likely because she's fallen with the others. Or, let's say, it may not be a redemption arc but it would probably be pulling out of the conflict altogether/giving up revenge. (See my fic lol).
I get that my measure of 'evil' is a little higher than others, but the reason Cinder's redemption arc is interesting is because she's actually driven by stuff and does (evil) stuff which interests me vastly more than the other redemption arcs in the show (though Ilia is probably the closest, along with Raven, and Winter - but Emerald's was a gimme, it was absolutely going to happen). But in this case I think Neo is part of doing the matryoshka doll-esque work for setting up future redemption arcs of naughty Maidens like Raven and Cinder.
Neo also really embodies Cinder wanting to kill Ruby (threatening silver eyes) so once Neo isn't able to do that for Cinder anymore (and she really can't now, but Cinder doesn't know they aren't all dead lol) then you're also kind of eliminating Cinder's opportunity to kill Ruby, which of the kill/fear duo, there's really only fear left. So that would achieve a lot narratively.

The Crown Is One Of The Hardest Shows To Cast. Here’s How They Do It.
Tumblr media
Casting announcements for The Crown are almost as exciting as the premiere of a new season itself. Half the fun of the show is analyzing the actors set to portray famous figures like Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher, as well as who will next fill the storied shoes of Queen Elizabeth. Season 4 of Peter Morgan’s royal drama was cast by Robert Sterne, who' won several Emmys for his work on the series along with Nina Gold (the duo cast seasons 1 through 3 together, and they were also responsible for the influx of talent we saw on Game of Thrones). Unsurprisingly, casting The Crown poses specific challenges not experienced on any other show.
“It’s not only that you’ve got to find actors who can successfully embody real-life, well-known people, but you’ve got to make sure there’s a continuity as it’s passed from the younger to the older version of the actor,” Sterne tells ELLE.com. “Who’s done it before, who’s doing it after, and who are the real people?”Sterne, who's currently in the process of re-casting the entire series for seasons 5 and 6, adds, “It’s nerve-wracking because people invest in the original people. You do X hours of screen time with them and fall in love with their interpretation, and then you go again [and re-cast] every two years.
”The casting process for each season starts about a year before filming begins; a meeting with Morgan clarifies where the characters will be in their journeys the following season. There were 262 speaking characters in season 4, and Sterne personally worked on all of them. The casting director notes that “you’ve got to think ahead of the game,” and that there are several factors to consider—not just whether the actor looks like the real-life person.
“They’ve got to have some credibility, physically, to be the people they’re supposed to portray,” Sterne notes. “But at the same time, they’ve got to get the spirit of it right.” Below, Sterne breaks down the behind-the-scenes process of building the cast of The Crown.
Perfecting Princess Diana

“Diana was a big deal,” Sterne says, confirming the role has been The Crown’s biggest casting challenge to date. “It was clear as we were heading into the 1980s that she was going to be a major part of it. And we’re starting with Diana at the beginning of her life—we’re not trying to find the icon of the Mario Testino images.”
The casting team embarked on an international search for the person who would play Diana, looking at hundreds of possible actresses in the U.S., U.K., and Australia. They weren’t just auditioning professional actors, either. “It was completely open,” Sterne notes. “We were going into schools in the home countries to see if there was anybody who might be good, since we meet her at 16, as well as looking at people who'd done a lot more work.”
The massive search brought them back to Emma Corrin, whom Sterne had seen in the casting process for season 3. The tense lunch between Camilla Parker-Bowles (Emerald Fennell) and Diana in the third episode of season 4 was used as the audition scene for Camilla—and Corrin came in as a reader to stand in for the part of Diana.
youtube
“I usually read in all these meetings, but we decided because it was this major scene that we would get somebody to come in [for Diana],” Sterne explains. “We asked Emma to come in, not thinking about casting Diana at this point. But as she was reading with these Camillas, all the directors and the showrunner were looking more at her and not at the people playing Camilla—who will remain nameless, of course. When we got to thinking about Diana a year later, there she was in my notes.”
Bringing in Margaret Thatcher
Tumblr media

Sterne was told early on that the big focus for season 4 would be the three main women: the queen, Diana, and Margaret Thatcher. Casting Thatcher, who has been portrayed repeatedly onscreen in the past, was unusual, because actress Gillian Anderson is Morgan’s partner, and the creator himself approached her about the role.
“There was always a list of one,” Sterne says. “We had thought of ideas and talked it through a lot, but we always knew Gillian Anderson was totally amazing. It seemed like a fresh and interesting way of going. We were very lucky she said she’d do it—she’s such a clever character actress.”
While Anderson is a fairly big name, Sterne and Gold aren’t always looking for an A-list star to be part of The Crown. Having someone like Anderson come in is balanced by casting lesser-known actors like Corrin.
“One of the great joys of working on it—and working with Peter Morgan on it—is that we’re open, and it’s a really genuine opportunity to find the best person for the part,” Sterne says. “We get to find the actor we believe has the best skills and the best instinctive connection with the part, rather than feeling like we’ve got to provide big names all the time.”
Carrying Charles Through
Tumblr media
Photo: Des Willie/Netflix
“He’s so three-dimensional,” Sterne explains of the role of Prince Charles. “There are so many aspects to that character. He would have to go on a journey.” It was important that the actor could evolve over a two-decade period, playing both a young version and the one who closes out season 4.
Josh O’Connor's work in Francis Lee’s 2017 film God’s Own Country led Sterne to cast him as Prince Charles. “He totally inhabited the role in God’s Own Country in this beautiful performance that’s very different from who he is. We thought, ‘Gosh, if that guy can do that and run with a character who’s so different than himself, then that will be interesting to see.’ As soon as we started [working with] him, it became pretty clear it was Josh.”
O’Connor has the obvious physical similarity to Charles, particularly in the ears, but Sterne really wanted someone who could make the role their own and not just mimic a famous figure—something especially important to season 4’s arc.
“It’s really important that you’re not getting an impersonation,” Sterne notes. “They have to embody them. We have an amazing team who help with the voice work and the movement work—those technical aspects—but you want somebody who has the skill to take on all that technically, and then leave it all behind. Josh flew with that from the moment he came into the room.”
Finding Young William and Harry
Tumblr media
Photo: Des Willie/Netflix
Princes William and Harry make their debut in season 4 as young children, and the resemblance to the real royals is almost uncanny. A baby version of William shows up in episode 6 as Charles and Diana tour Australia and New Zealand in 1982, while Harry appears later in the season. Unlike with the older royals, Sterne focuses on physical appearance alone when casting the kids.
“They have to be as recognizable as possible,” he explains. “They don’t have the opportunity to say many lines, so it’s all visual. You want people to have the pleasure of going, ‘Ah, there they are!’”
Sterne says the difficulty in casting children can vary depending on the situation. The search involves looking through schools in the U.K. and visiting drama groups for kids. “You have to keep going until you find people who feel credible,” Sterne says.
Casting One-Off Characters and Extras
While the fourth season of The Crown focuses a lot on Charles and Diana's relationship and Thatcher’s rapport with the queen, several standalone episodes bring in one-off characters who are equally important to the narrative.
Episode 7, “The Hereditary Principle,” sees Princess Margaret learning that the royal family’s estranged cousins have been locked in a mental institution. The women, Nerissa and Katherine Bowes-Lyon, were first cousins to Elizabeth II on her mother’s side and both had severe learning disabilities. Sterne and Gold cast Trudie Emery as Katherine and Pauline Hendrickson as Nerissa. Both actresses have learning disabilities in real life.

NETFLIX
“We had a few pictures of those two women and did a lot of research into their lives and experiences, and then did a national search across drama schools and residential care homes to find people with learning disabilities who looked similar to the real women and were interested in acting,” Sterne says. “We employed a lot of the people with learning disabilities we met along the way and put them in small parts in those scenes with Trudie and Pauline. We wanted to find real people with learning disabilities so they were properly represented. There are not as many opportunities as you’d hope for, and when we started looking around, there were so many drama groups. There’s so much talent out there.”
Similarly, in episode 5, Tom Brooke plays real-life British man Michael Fagan, who broke into Buckingham Palace to see the queen—a key moment in understanding the state of England in the 1980s.
Tumblr media

“We knew there was going to be an episode about him,” Sterne says, “and I remember reading stories about him and there were loads of pictures of him. For a character like that, you look at footage of him and read about him. It’s a really extraordinary part to play, so you want to find an accomplished, technically brilliant actor who looks a bit like him. Tom is an actor with a whole lot of soul, and you wanted [Fagan] to have a whole lot of soul.”
Sterne adds, “Fagan's story was a way of exploring Thatcher’s Britain that's not automatically going to be covered if you’re just dealing with the royal family and the prime ministers, which is the usual core of The Crown.”

Hate That I Want You (Part 3)
Sirius Black x Pure-blood!Slytherin!Reader
Summary: At first it’s hate, then it’s confusion. It grows into a healthy amount of curiosity until it turns into hate once more. But not towards each other, more towards the idea of wanting what you’ve tried to avoid all your life.
Words: 4.4k
Warnings: angst, bad family relationships, mild fighting?
Note: So very sorry for basically not updating this story for over two months. That’s just bad even for my standards I hope you enjoy this one though!
HTIWY Masterpost | Part 4
Tumblr media
James loves his quidditch, everyone knows it and nobody is surprised when they see him on the quidditch pitch flying along the field. There’s no match planned, no training on the schedule and still Potter is there on his broom whilst his friends sit in a group on the stands.
Occasionally Remus, Lily, Marlene and Sirius have a go at flying themselves. They’re all good, but of course nothing like quidditch king James Potter.
When the five of them are up in the air, the others cheer and watch from down below. Other students sit in the stands too, watching them or just discussing some of their classes, catching up or admiring the Hogwarts Grounds.
The quidditch pitch isn’t only James’ favourite spot, but also that from many others.
You heard a few fellow Slytherins whispering in the library about how amazing it was to just sit there, reflect, watch the clouds go by and do nothing but breathe. Whenever they felt threatened by the copious amounts of assignments and tests they would go there to unwind and relax.
And so, you were now walking up the wooden stairs, towards the seats and the beautiful autumn sky, trying to finally find a way to ease your mind.
You brought a book, one that you had read a thousand times before but couldn’t get enough of and clutched it between your arms until you found a place to get comfortable. The stands weren’t anything fancy but they gave off a cosy pine smell, the sky wasn’t clear but the sun shone through the clouds in a most beautiful way and most of all… Even though you were alone, you didn’t feel like it.
Clusters of friends were scattered around the pitch, chattering along and filling the air with happiness. In a place like this you could never feel alone because of all the friendly faces around. It didn’t matter what name you were given or the blood you were born with. The quidditch pitch was a safe place and thanks to that one Slytherin in the library you now knew that.
Focussing all your attention on the book in your hands, reading every word as if it was the first time, you didn’t realise the giggles zooming through the air above your head were ones you knew. Until the person flew so close you could basically feel the breeze flying over you and messing your hair around.
Lily was trying her very best to lose James who desperately chased her, in a friendly attempt of course. Her laugh pierced the air and brought a smile to many others’ lips. Even to yours without realising it. James, of course, was much faster on his broom and caught up with her in less than thirty seconds. He reached out grabbing her arm in the air, making Lily scream out of joy and also maybe a little because she didn’t like losing.
Her scream brought your attention upwards, away from your book and towards the duo who hysterically laughed at one another. After a while Lily averted her attention to you too and waved with such a happy smile, you felt your heart grow. You waved back, a little more shy than her but at least just as joyful.
As Lily turned her attention back on flying alongside James, you averted your eyes higher up. Remus was there chatting with Marlene about who knows what, both several feet in the air and dangling their legs off the sides. You couldn’t possibly imagine looking that relaxed while sitting on a hovering stick, being a little scared of heights yourself, but they didn’t seem to mind one bit.
Realising you were staring by now you turned back towards your book but something seemed off.
Not the book, there wasn’t a problem with the book.
You felt off, like something was trying to catch your attention but you couldn’t make out what.
Your eyes roamed back over the stands, catching a few Hufflepuffs sitting in a circle, a Gryffindor and a Ravenclaw holding hands whilst whispering to each other. You smiled at that, not caring if it made you look like a lunatic.
But what kept you on the edge of your seat like this? What was making you this uncomfortable you could barely concentrate on one single word of your forgotten page?
After several seconds you realised, much to your displeasure, that the “what” was actually a “who”.
There he was once again, with his long messy black hair and his piercing grey eyes, looking right at you as if it was his favourite occupation. Honestly, as of lately you couldn’t tell if Sirius did it on purpose or not. Contrary to the other years at Hogwarts when he used to only give you attention in the form of barking remarks and swift hateful glances, now for almost a week he had seeked you out in any crowd. You did the same to him you had to admit, otherwise you wouldn’t even have know about his prolonged stares.
His looks weren’t friendly, but they weren’t full of hatred anymore either. They were more like a gaze, as if he was looking at you but at the same time right through you, lost in thought.
Right now, even as you were looking right into his eyes, it was as if he didn’t realise what he was doing. His head didn’t turn or even move an inch to the left or right, his eyebrows didn’t knot together like they did up until a week ago…
Something had been going on inside his head and obviously you couldn’t complain. If Sirius could finally stop holding a grudge against you, purely for the family you were born in, then anyone could right?
Or so you were trying to tell yourself. But you were smarter than to keep on hoping it would get better, it never did in the last six years.
*~*~*~*~*~*
His mood had been swinging from left to right, from cheery and upbeat to plain out irritated by the most insignificant matters.
James talked too loud, Peter chewed with his mouth open, Marlene’s high pitched laugh pierced his ears, professor Mcgonagall called him out for every joke he pulled no matter how subtle they were,... Nothing was going his way.
On top of all of this, there seemed to be an itch in his head he wasn’t able to scratch.
Everywhere Sirius went he saw two particularly unwanted eyes reading a book or concentrating on ink spilling out of the tip of a quill. Green accented robes and an obnoxiously neat skirt flowed around knee length socks, also accented by that same deep colour of emerald green. It’s the kind smile, though, that makes him hate it all more. It’s out of character, those lips aren’t supposed to look that innocent and friendly.
Sirius hasn’t been himself ever since the encounter with you after potions class. He’s tense, stressed even and he doesn’t get why. Was it because you called him out on his obvious ignorance? Maybe because the words that left your mouth that day were both filled with obvious anger but also hurt?
You had genuinely sounded hurt, Sirius now realises that. You looked at him as if he had grown two heads, opening your mouth just slightly before closing it. The corners of your lips turned downwards and your eyes lost the sparkle of that always present wit. Your shoulders had slumped down and you made yourself as tiny as you could without being too obvious about it.
The conversation still rang inside his head every time he so much as caught a glance of your silhouette.
“You honestly still believe I stand for what my family stands for?”
Your voice was so small, you had almost whispered it and if his attention wasn’t solely focussed on you he would have probably missed what you were saying.
He knows his reaction to your fragile demeanour made you stand up straight again. As if seeing his perplexed eyes was enough to remember what you were dealing with. He could see it in the way you pulled your books against your chest, how you twisted your face into a scowl.
That angry look, that was the one he recognised.
It made him snap back at you, like he always did, trying to put you back into place. But your answers…
They weren’t what he expected, they weren’t what he wanted to hear. His plan was to confront you, to finally get the hateful words to spill from your mouth and proof his friends wrong, so he could tell them how wrong they were about trusting and defending you.
“Do your family’s actions reflect onto you? Have you ever considered I could be in the same bloody situation as you are, or is the hate towards Slytherins just so damn huge it doesn’t even matter what my opinions are? You’re just going to keep accusing me of sh*t I’ve never done, or better, never even said!
“I never shared their love for our bloodstatus let alone my whole opinion on who’s worthy and who is not! It may be a surprise to you, Black”, you made sure to spit out his surname as if it was a pawn on a chessboard, “but I consider someone worthy as soon as they step foot in this world, from there on it’s up to themselves if they deserve to walk among the others or not.”
Those definitely weren’t the words he expected.
That night wasn’t one where sleep found him quickly. Questions kept sliding through his mind, all basically asking the same damn thing.
“Some people don’t wish to be disowned and thrown on the streets, Sirius! Of all people I would think you would be the most understanding of that!”
Was he wrong all along?
Now he sat at dinner, three weeks later, with a fake smile plastered on his lips. Irritation, rage, frustration,... Confusion.
All those years he had known you, walking along with your parents at King’s Cross, not once had you stepped out of line with them. When they grimaced at muggleborns, you turned your head the other way. When your parents talked to his you made sure to get as far away as possible. He always held that against you, believing you wanted to get away because he, a friend of muggleborns, was there right next to them.
Were you just scared?
He had heard stories from his parents, from before he ran away and left them for good.
“The (Y/L/N)s had a particular encounter with a mudblood, Walburga, have you heard?”
“I’m afraid not.”
“Don’t worry though, they put the vile bastard in it’s place.”
He remembers conversations like that too vividly, vulgar and sickening details following suit.
How you hadn’t left after all that your family had done, said and inflicted upon innocents… It remains a mystery to him. It’s why he always saw you as one of them. You didn’t seem bothered or even fazed by all of it. You never talked back, never gave a kick.
When someone asked you about it you just ignored the question and went on with your day.
How could you? Why would you?
Sirius questions everything, sitting there whilst shoving potatoes around his plate.
You remain a mystery he can’t seem to solve.
*~*~*~*~*~*
When the owls come flying through the Great Hall the next morning, you expect to see grandma’s tiny brown one to land in front of you, lay down a letter and ask for some petting. It’s routine by now and it’s what keeps you grounded, makes you realise there’s someone outside of these school walls that still cares.
This time that doesn’t happen, though. You see other people receiving The Daily Prophet, others get letters from their parents and family at home.
Grandma’s owl never appears.
Instead you see a black one, as dark as the nights on Hogwarts grounds, fly towards you. It lands gracefully and for several seconds you can’t help but stare.
This isn’t what’s supposed to happen, grandma never forgets to write.
Even though this isn’t the owl you expected, you still recognise the stark yellow eyes that contrast with the deep feathers. It’s your family’s owl.
The loud screech of the bird takes you back to where you are, momentarily pushing down the panic away from your head. It settles deep, making you feel nauseous as you take the letter from the sharp beak. Your owl flies away without any hesitation.
Other people around you have been alerted by the loud noise coming from your place as well. Of course they have to keep staring, making your nerves even more prominent. You do as you do best, though. You plaster a fake not bothered look on your face, lay down the letter next to your plate and keep eating like nothing had happened, like your stomach wasn’t refusing every bite you took.
As you tried to calm down, over time you were able to make out the details of the letter. The handwriting of your mother on the front, the big black seal known to be your family’s,...
And then you noticed the obvious red colour of the envelope.
The letter was a Howler. You were definitely not opening that in front of everyone, it was staying shut until you were in your room, alone, with no roommates to disturb you.
For the remaining time of breakfast you kept your eyes on your plate, anxiously thinking about what could be written inside. You dreaded having to listen to your mother’s voice, most probably screaming at you for some unknown reason.
But most importantly, why didn’t grandma write?
Why did it have to be your parents instead?
Lost inside your own thoughts, leaving breakfast on auto-pilot and with a blank stare in your eyes, you just forgot
You didn’t even realise you  left the Howler right next to your still half full plate.
*~*~*~*~*~*
Sirius saw everything, never diverting his eyes away from you for more than ten seconds.
He saw your hopeful smile when the owls started flying in, saw how that smile slowly turned into a frown the longer you waited. Your lips had fully fallen open when a black owl landed in front of you.
He saw your hesitation, heard the loud shriek that made you jump in your seat.
He saw the red envelope.
And there it was again, that unbothered look you always glued onto your face, the one that makes him angry every single time he sees it.
He always addressed it to you actually not caring, but now he just couldn’t. You had looked so devastated and almost terrified just a second ago.
Were you hiding what you were feeling?
Was that what that look was? You just didn’t want others to see what kept going on inside that confusing head of yours?
That would be exactly what Slytherins were good at. Sirius now sees the sly move, realises how good you are at lying. Not with words but with your demeanour.
He definitely doesn’t miss you leaving, head down shoulders slumped because even you aren’t that good at telling lies. He spots the red paper still on the table, left and forgotten about.
There’s a big decision now, right in front of him. Is he stooping that low?
“You okay there, Sirius? You’ve been awfully quiet”, Lily remarks and everyone turns their heads his way.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just not been feeling too well since waking up.”
“Have you guys gone partying without us again?” Marlene asks with a pout hanging off her lips, big round puppy eyes following not long after.
“We wouldn’t dare”, Peter answers before everyone chuckles at the thought of that happening last time. The girls had been mad for weeks.
“I’m done here, I’m full as can be”, Remus says after a while, standing up and pushing off from the table, “If anyone feels like joining me before having to leave for class-”
He can’t even finish his sentence before basically everyone at the table follows his lead and leaves their plates for what they are. All except Sirius.
“Aren’t you coming, mate?”
“I’m going to talk to my brother first, it’s been a while”, Sirius responds, not lifting his gaze from the Slytherin table. Unbeknown to his friends it’s not because his brother is sat there.
“As you wish. Let’s get going, guys!”
*~*~*~*~*~*
Just when you’re about to turn another corner, you snap out of it.
Emptiness is refilled by panic and you’re running before you’ve even realised you were standing still.
The letter! How could you forget to take the stupid letter?!
Your heart beats like crazy and your breathing is deep and irregular. How much more could go wrong today? It’s only half past eight in the morning, classes haven’t started yet and here you are, running your lungs out of your body because of a Howler your family left you.
When the entrance of The Great Hall comes into sight you finally let yourself slow down. Still your legs move in an obvious fast pace, stressed and rigid with your hands fidgeting in front of your stomach.
Just as you reach the grand doorway Sirius Black walks through. You see him hesitate for a second, locks eyes before he quickly gathers himself and walks the other direction. You couldn’t care less at this moment. He’s not what’s concerning you right now. It’s that bloody red letter right next to your plate.
You enter, scan the Slytherin table trying to recall the exact place you sat at.
Penny still sits there, the fifth year Slytherin you know from spending too much time in the library. She sat not too far away from where you had been eating only minutes ago.
As you pass seat after seat, even passing the one you could swear you had been seated, you didn’t see a single letter. No Daily Prophets, no regular white letters,...
Not your very prominent red letter.
“No”, you breathe out. No one hears you.
“Please, it has to be here.” This time you speak louder.
“Everything okay, (Y/N)?”
You look up, silently thanking Merlin for this sweet girl, Penny, for at least caring enough to check on you. You’re quite sure you look like you’ve seen a ghost, figuratively speaking of course.
“No, I-I’m sorry for bothering but have you seen an envelope lying right at this spot? A red one?”
You wait as she looks down to where your letter should’ve been. The longer she takes the more you lose hope.
It’s been several seconds now, you’re almost sure she’s going to ignore your question and get on with her day but then she speaks up as if she only just realised what you asked.
“The Howler you received?”
Of course she knew you received a Howler, Penny was known for being an observant girl, still you had slightly hoped she didn’t notice. You had hoped no one noticed. Obviously that wasn’t the case.
“Yes, Penny, the Howler”, you answer slightly annoyed she had to bring it up in front of her friends. She seems to realise her mistake, though, and looks at you with apology written across her face.
“Actually, yeah we saw”, Duncan who sits in front of the girl answers, “Sirius Black picked it up and left.”
That’s when everything starts to spin. The words have barely reached your ears but you know enough, he’s going to ruin you. This is going to ruin everything.
You swear tears are starting to form in your eyes but rapid blinks keep them from rolling down. You can’t lose it now, not in front of everyone. The breathy voice that leaves your lips is a dead giveaway of what is going through your head right now, though.
“And you just let him take it?” It’s barely a whisper, but you know Penny heard well enough. She turns her head down to her plate, guilt prominently edged onto her features.
“We thought he was going to bring it to you”, Duncan answers, also slightly taken aback by your demeanor.
You shake your head, not believing what’s happening still. “Oh yeah, because we all know Sirius Black is such a good friend of mine.”
The response is filled with frustration and most probably a lot of obvious resentment, but you can’t get yourself to care about that right now. You’re running again, this time out of The Great Hall, trying to catch up with the guy who has your whole future on this school right between his fingers.
*~*~*~*~*~*
He feels wrong. The red envelope clutched in his right hand is burning into his skin. This doesn’t feel right, no matter who the piece of paper belongs to. Why did he do it? Is he so desperate to make your life hell? Is he so set on proving you’re a horrible person?
Sirius doesn’t have the answers to his own questions, he regrets taking the letter and it’s now stressing him out.
This isn’t about doing the right thing anymore. Now he is being the horrible person out of the two of you. He debates walking back to your spot and laying it right where he had picked it up, but it was too late for that. Everyone would’ve seen what he did, if he went back they would only confront him about it.
The more distance he puts between himself and The Great Hall the worse he feels. He takes steps by two, looking down at the red letter in his hand with your name elegantly written on the front. It’s definitely a Howler from your parents, he recognises the black stamp that seals the lid from the many letters your family had sent to his parents.
Why would they send you a Howler?
Maybe they were going to praise you? That could be it, they were only trying to brag about how good of a Slytherin their precious daughter is. Amazing grades, never out of line, always proper and prim,...
But the more he thinks about it the more he starts to question whether his friends were right.
Howlers weren’t sent by loving parents, they were always sent by people who had some bone to pick. Sirius remembers the time Martha, a Hufflepuff, received a Howler from her grandparents, yelling at her because apparently if she didn’t start studying for her OWLs she would be in big trouble when she got back home.
Or that time when Kyle tried to pull a prank on one of the professors but injured a student instead, his parents were livid.
Sirius stops walking, now taking that bloody letter into both hands, staring at it as if he wanted to burn it right then and there.
Anger fills his head as he focuses on your mother’s handwriting. What could your parents possibly be humiliating you for? There was not a chance you were doing anything wrong, anything against their standards. You studied hard, got amazing grades, were good at pretty much anything that involved magic.
The fact he was becoming concerned for you, a (Y/L/N), confuses him to no end and it makes him even more livid.
Nothing made sense anymore.
“Sirius Black!”
Your loud voice echoed through the halls like never before. Not once has Sirius ever heard you scream in all those years he knew you. It takes him back to reality, out of his thoughts and into the world where he can feel nothing but loathing at your mere presence.
After the initial shock he turns around, a prominent glare is fixed onto his face.
And there you are, getting closer with every second, walking with loud steps but still as gracious as ever.
Before he realises it you’re right in front of him, eyes wide and deep breaths filling the air between you. You’re seething, staring daggers at him. If looks could kill, Sirius would be lying on the ground with a cut open throat right now.
“If you give it back I won’t speak a word about this to anyone, Black.”
He expected you to make a scene, but you surprised him with an almost gentle voice, a whisper so no one else could hear but him. It’s a big contrast to your body language.
Your outstretched hand is patiently waiting for him to lay the letter on your palm.
“No can do, (Y/L/N).”
He turns away from you, trying to walk away as quickly as possible but you don’t let him.
Sirius feels his hair being tugged backwards, his scalp stinging from the pull. You know it’s a low blow, almost childish if this was any other situation but you’re so angry, so furious, so full of hatred right now that it’s the only thing that makes you feel satisfied.
His guard is down as he is too distracted and startled by the move you just pulled, literally, that it’s easy for you to grab for the envelope in his hand.
When he feels the paper slipping between his fingers he grips on tight, refusing to let go. He’s in too deep by now, he’s not giving up on that letter.
Sirius never meant for you to be humiliated, as nasty as he could be sometimes, never once did it cross his mind to harass or demoralize you in front of everyone at school. His hatred was private, he made sure only you knew about his distaste. Yes, others picked up on the grudge between you two after a while but never was anything said in full public view.
Never, absolutely never did he mean for this to get so far.
One of you must have pulled too hard, maybe the stamp was weak from the beginning,...
When the black seal broke away from the envelope there wasn’t enough time to realise what was happening.
Before either of you could react your mother’s loud voice filled the hallways and you were there in the middle of everyone listening.
Sirius stumbled back out of pure shock, eyes wide pleading for something to stop this.
Had he gone too far?
Yes, he did. He realised it as soon as he saw your face.
Your tears dripped and hit the floor right between your feet.

"You Know I'm Gonna Get You."
Part 3 of the series "Keeping Her"
This is a TICKLE series. If you're not into that, you don't have to read.
PLATONIC Avengers x reader. Dad! Bucky
Warnings: You might get a cavity from the sweetness.
Summary:
On a snowy night, the reader is spending time with Tony, Steve, and her father, Bucky, when Bucky threatens to wreck her during the father-daughter duo's playful antics.
Tumblr media
It was a calm evening at home for the Avengers. It was snowing outside and the window panes were frosted over. Everyone was in comfortable clothes, doing their own thing around the compound. You changed into your pjs and decided to spend time in the main living room where Tony, Steve, and Bucky were hanging out. Tony was relaxing barefoot in his recliner messing around with who knows what on his tablet. He had on glasses, an emerald green sweater, and black sweatpants.
“Tony, do you know if Peter is still out patrolling? It’s dark and cold out there.” You asked as you walked in. The living room was cozy with the fireplace crackling and warming the room with it’s soft glow.
“He’s not patrolling, y/n, he’s going to be here any minute. He’s spending the weekend again.” Tony said, smiling as your face lit up with excitement. Tony was just as excited as you to see Peter, if not more.
“I didn’t know he was coming over! You don’t tell me ANYTHING, Tony!” You whined dramatically. He simply rolled his eyes at you. He mostly keeps you up to date with what’s going on, but he didn’t get the opportunity to tell you this in particular.
“Well it’s not my fault I’ve barely seen you the past few days.” Tony stated, not looking up from his tablet.
“It’s because this guy was making me do extra training.” You pointed at your dad, Bucky. He was laying across the entire couch, and wearing a long sleeved shirt and pajama pants. He was snacking on a big bowl of caramel corn, ignoring you and focusing on the movie he and Steve (who was in the other recliner) were watching.
Bucky, who you called “Daddy,” “Dad,” and sometimes “Bucky/Buck” simply because of how much you loved his name, absolutely adored you more than anything. He hadn’t expected to be a father, and when he found out he had a daughter after all he had been through, it definitely took a while for him to process it. After all his recovering, you had become his life. It’s like you two had never been apart in your lifetime. Bucky loved being your dad. You two got along so well and loved to play fight/ tease each other, like you were doing now.
“Stop hogging all the caramel corn!” “I want some!” “Daddy! Share!”
Bucky kept pretending to ignore you while eating with a smirk and watching his movie. That is, until what you did next.
“You’re gonna get chonky!” You said, squeezing his tummy. This caused him to jolt with a smile, before turning serious, and glaring at you with his bright blue eyes. He slowly sat up and set the bowl of popcorn on the coffee table, not breaking his glare. You giggled and backed up to Steve for protection as you knew what was about to go down.
“Y/n, come here.” Bucky said, casually, still sitting on the edge of the couch.
“No!”
“Y/n, just come here.”
“No way!”
“Why?”
“You’re gonna tickle me!” You blushed profusely. Though you liked being tickled (which you could never admit), you would still always get nervous and shy when you knew they were about to get you. It was still fun to you, though.
“Now why would I do something like that?”
You then tried to climb onto Steve for safety but he set you down, giggling at you adoringly that you still always come to him for protection. Steve had been trying to wean you off of him and encourage more independence in you. You had trouble in training with keeping your head up. You had the habit of running to Steve, sometimes even with lots of crying, instead of learning self-defense. Ever since the accident and rescue, you had become very attached to Steve. He loved this and often bragged to the others that he was “the chosen one.” However, after some time, he knew you needed to get stronger, so he won’t allow you to depend too much on him anymore.
“This is YOUR fight, y/n. Go get him.” Steve encouraged.
You gave him an annoyed look and ran right to Tony, climbing onto him. Unlike Steve, Tony snuggled you to his side.
“Don’t worry, y/n/n. I’ll protect you.”
This made Steve so jealous that he thought his blood was literally boiling. He had a very pissed off expression. He regretted not protecting you. Bucky, on the other hand, just chuckled at you for shying away from his tickles.
“I’ll get you. You know I’m gonna get you.” Bucky teased, casually leaning back on the couch, continuing to watch his movie.
You didn’t say anything back. You just stuck your tongue out at him. Tony then distracted you by showing you some new Spider-Man suit advancements he and Peter had been working on. You both became focused with that. You and Tony tapped around the screen, as you asked him all kinds of questions, which he happily answered.
Several minutes went by and you had become distracted by all the cool suit designs and Bucky and Steve seemed to have gotten lost in the movie. This is when Pepper walked in.
“Well you all seem cozy! Would you like me to make my hot chocolate recipe?” She asked. You leapt to your feet in excitement.
“Yes, please!”
Pepper smiled and went to go make her delicious cinnamon hot chocolate.
Suddenly, you were snatched from where you stood, causing you to yelp.
“Gotcha!” Bucky yelled, throwing you on the couch and hovering over you. You blushed and awaited your fate. “You didn’t think I’d forget, did you?”
You giggled nervously and pushed at his chest.
Bucky dug into your sides and laughed at your reaction. You squealed and giggled and wiggled around trying to escape his hands. He then began tickling your tummy, bringing out everyone’s favorite belly laugh of yours. Bucky, Steve, and Tony all looked at each other, laughing. You were so flustered, but you were having a lot of fun. Yet, it tickled so much that you couldn’t stop wiggling.
“Why are you such a wiggle worm, y/n? Does it tickle?” Bucky teased. You didn’t answer. You just tried your best to cover your face with your hands.
“Stahahap thahahat!” Bucky laughed, shooting his fingers under your arms. You immediately brought your hands down and kept wiggling and laughing your precious laugh.
“Steve, hold her down, please. I’m trying to tickle her, but she’s not cooperating!”
You were laughing at both the tickling and Bucky’s funniness. He always made you laugh even when not tickling you.
“Of course!” Steve said. A teasing tone was also apparent in his voice. He grabbed your wrists and held them above your head as Bucky ruthlessly tickled you in all your worst spots.
“TONY! HELP!” was all you could get out.
“I’m sorry y/n! Peter’s here! I’m going to go down and get him,” Tony announced, walking out of the room toward the elevator.
Bucky began to vibrate his fingertips into your ribs as you tried to squirm out of Captain America’s grip. You just couldn’t help but try to squirm. Bucky tickles are more on the rough side, but they never hurt. He was still gentle, even though he squeezes, shakes, and drills as part of his tickle skills. This is only when he’s wrecking you though, like now. He could give more gentle tickles too. You preferred to be wrecked by him.
He then vibrated his fingertips in your tummy and your laughter went silent, and you must’ve turned blue, because this is when Bucky finally stopped and Steve let you go.
You caught your breath again and playfully kicked Bucky’s chest, before hiding your face in the couch, flustered.
“Awww, did I tickle too much?” Bucky said in a babyish tone to embarrass you even more.
“Daaaddy don’t talk to me like that!” You whined, even though you had a big smile.
Bucky scooped you up in his arms. “But you’re my baby.”
You loved the fatherly affection your dad showed you. You grew up never shown any love for most of your life. You had seen Bucky around quite often in the different facilities you lived in, but you never knew who he really was. Sadly, Bucky never knew who you were either. He never knew they made you by taking his DNA. He was still grateful for you, but feels a large amount of guilt for never knowing you. He also has a ton of anger. Anger that you were taken away from him. He didn’t get to teach you, watch you grow, or anything. Not even when he was free. It wasn’t until he began recovery by the Wakandans that Steve and Tony, and Bucky himself, finally allowed you to be around him.
You smiled at Bucky and kissed his cheek, which he in turn attacked your cheeks with kisses, making you giggle.
A few minutes later, you heard the elevator ding, signaling that Peter and Tony were here. They then walked in and you launched into your best friend Peter’s arms.
“Oh! Hi! I m-missed you, y/n! And also, thank you. I need your warm hug, b-because I’m freezing!” Peter was shivering and there were snowflakes in his curls.
“I missed you too, Peter. Come here, by the fire!” You pulled Peter over to the couch and wrapped a blanket around him. Tony and Pepper brought in the tray of the hot chocolate Pepper had been making.
“Here you go, Pete.” Tony said, handing Peter a mug and combing the snowflakes out of his curls with his hands. Steve then handed you a cup and you sat next to Peter, asking him about all of his latest adventures.
You spent the rest of the night watching movies and spending time with your family. You fell asleep between Bucky and Peter on the large couch. That night became one of your favorite memories.

The 15 craziest Episodes of Legends of Tomorrow:
„Crazy“ is an ever changing measure, especially in the Arrowverse. When Time Travel and Parallel Universes were introduced it was a heavy leap from the norm. A couple of seasons later it was pretty much normal. So this list reflects changes in the norm, episodes that pushed the crazy and unusual. What is crazy for on show is not crazy for another one.
„Legends“ kind of went nuts in Season 2 and never became sane again, it became even nuttier from season to season. So it’s a question of degree here even more than anywhere else compared to what happened around the episode in question:
 So let’s get into it:
  15.  Doomworld (Episode 2.16/32, Written by: Ray Utarnachitt, Sarah Hernandez, Directed by: Mairzee Almas)
Alternate timelines are kind of an Arrowverse thing, but this one did not came to be through time travel but through the Legion of Doom rewriting history to their own liking. Therefore there is no cause and effect to the changes, which allowed the writers to have vigilante Felicity, hero assassin duo Sara und Amaya, janitor Ray, Bossman Jax, timid Martin, and Master Baker Rip – well that one came about because of different circumstances, but yes, this episode has to be seen to be believed.
Tumblr media
 14. Camelot/3000 (Episode 2.12/28, Written by: Anderson Mackenzie, Directed by: Antonio Negret)
From the far future to Camelot and King Arthur – this episodes travelled far and mixed those two areas up quite nice. In true Legends fashion Ray became a Knight of the Round Table, Sara got to hit on Guenevere, and Mick got to beat the adversary army with his brain. Yes, you read that one right. Just ask poor Martin about it.
Tumblr media
 13. Witch Hunt (Episode 4.2/53, Written by: Keto Shimizu und Matthew Maalaa, Directed by: Kevin Mock)
Here „Legends“ inserted the a singing Fairy Godmother into the era of the Salem Witch Trials. While Zari got to confront her own anger about certain things, the Fairy Godmother was really not the fairytale kind, but rather an evil one, but boy, she could sing.
Tumblr media
 12.  Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 5 (Episode 5.0/68, Written by: Keto Shimizu, Ubah Mohamed, Directed by: Gregory Smith)
“Legends” provided Time Travel and it’s characters for most Crossovers, but this one was special because it was a Crossover Episode in pure Legends Style. Our heroes got to confront a gigantic Beebo, Ray took a selfie, Mick had a book signing, and everyone thought they were going insane - and around all of this Earth Prime was established and Olivers fate was confirmed. Most viewers who did not know “Legends” were probably very confused during this one.
Tumblr media
11. The Virgin Gary (Episode 4.1/52, Written by: Phil Klemmer und Grainee Godfree, Directed by: Gregory Smith)
John Constantine joins the Legends in the time for a murderous unicorn at Woodstock that roofies most of the team and gets Ray to snog a tree, Mick and Nate to exchange loving vows, and Zari to chase lights. Plus Gary almost gets eaten by a unicorn. Matt Ryan had doubts about signing that contract on his first day on set for this episode, you know. But we loved it.
Tumblr media
 10.  Helen Hunt (Episode 3.6/39, Written by: Keto Shimizu und Ubah Mohamed, Directed by: David Geddes)
Helen of Troy single handedly destroys the Golden Era of Hollywood, simply by being there and driving men nuts. Studio exes try to kill each other in order to get her, while Damien Darhk becomes her agent to wreck even more havoc. Hard to remember sometimes that this is the guy who killed Laurel, given how much crazy fun he became.
Tumblr media
 9. The Fellowship of the Spear (Episode 2.15/31, Written by: Keto Shimizu, Matthew Maala, Directed by: Ben Bray)
This episode is “Legends”-Homage to Tolkien and his works. However the most quotes and nods go to the Peter Jackson Movies, which is no problem, because we love them too. The Legends recruit Tolkien out of the trenches for a treasure hunt, however things go bad and some fans were not to happy with one of the team betraying their own at the end of this episode. But don’t you guys remember Boromir?
Tumblr media
 8.      Seance and Sensibility (Episode 4.11/62, Written by: Grainne Godfree, Jackie Canino, Directed by: Alexandra La Roche)
What have Jane Austen and Bollywood in common? Both a represented in this episode that features a Bollywood number and the death of Jane Austens writing career. Everyone gets roofied (again!) but this time it’s just sex dreams, and well Zari starts planning her wedding to an Indian God, while Mona turns hulky and tries to kill Jane Austen. Yep, that’s Legends for you.
Tumblr media
7. Aruba (Episode 2.17/33, Written by: Phil Klemmer und Marc Guggenheim, Directed by: Rob Seidenglanz)
The Finale of Season 2 features two sets of Legends, while the team goes back to the event of „Fellowship of  the Spear“. While Malcolm, Damien, and Snart are mostly confused Eobard strikes back by recruiting a lot of his former selfes. Legends die, Legends live, Sara saved the day with quite a neat trick, and Eobard gets what he deserves, but we all know he will be back to haunt Barry anways, so that does not really matter, does it?
Tumblr media
6. The Good, the Bad and the Cuddley (Episode 3.18/51, Written by: Marc Guggenheim und Phil Klemmer, Directed by: Dermott Downs)
In the Season 3 Finale we got a massive Beebo who fights a gigantic demon. The Beebo was created by a Legends Orgy and symbolizes … well love I guess. While the Finale is kind over overstuffed with plot, the fight at the end makes up for it all. Damien sacrifices himself, Zari has an unlikely romance, and we get to see a lot of old faces again. What a weird Season Finale indeed.
Tumblr media
5. Raiders of the Lost Art (Episode 2.9/25, Written by: Keto Shimizu, Chris Fedak, Directed by: Dermott Downs)
This is officially the episode where „Legends“ went nuts. Oh and it’s a delicous one. George Lucas never became a filmmaker after being scared of by Malcolms and Damiens attempts to kill amnesiac Rip Hunter who thinks he is an American filmstudent, whose script is basically the plot of the shows first season. Too bad he can’t find a decent Vandal Savage. And that everyone thinks he is this Rip Hunter guy. Also Mick gets a brain surgey, Ray and Nate change occupations, and Amayas babysits their attempt to get George Lucas back to film school, and thanks god she does otherwise … well otherwise there would be no „Star Wars“ or „Indiana Jones“, would there?
Tumblr media
4. Beebo the God of War (Episode 3.9/42, Written by: Grainne Goodfree und James Eagan, Directed by: Kevin Mock)
This was supposed to be the sad goodbye to Martin Stein and it still is that as well, but mostly it’s the episode about Beebo Day. You know, the blue god, who hungers for war and conquest? Whose birthday we celebrate once a year in december and … wait? What was I talking about? Oh, yeah Leo tries to make Mick quit drinking and Beebo get’s squeezed a lot.
Tumblr media
3. Legends of To-Meow-Meow (Episode 4.8/59, Written by: James Eagan und Ray Utarnachitt, Directed by: Ben Bray)
Sulky about missing out on the Crossover the Legends crossovered with themselves in Season 4. John and Charlie destroyed the timeline for selfish reasons, and now everything is wrong and everything they do makes things worse instead of better. Zari gets to spend most of the epsiode as a cat, the rest of the Legends get turned into puppets, we meet the Sirens of Spacetime and the Custodians of the Chronology, and a gay kiss saves all of spacetime. Why can’t all shows be more like „Legends“?
Tumblr media
2.      Meet the Legends (Episode 5.1/69, Written by: Grainne Godfree, James Eagan, Directed by: Kevin Mock)
In this episodes Ava tries to race money for the Time Bureau by making a documentary about the Legends and their work. This episode is the documentary and the making oft he documentary. Think Arrows „Emerald Archer“ only way carzier and funnier. 1.      The One Where We‘re Trapped On TV (Episode 5.13/81, Written by: Grainne Godfree, James Eagan, Directed by: Marc Guggenheim)
And the award for the Craziest TV Episode of all time goes to this one, where the Legends are trapped on TV. Charlie put them there to protect them, and so we get very familiar but strange versions of „Friends“, „Downtown Abbey,“ and „Star Trek“ with the Legends as the main characters instead. We also meet a murderous Mister Parker, get another musical number lead by the Tarazi siblings, and are as amazed as Mona about everything that is going on here. Can „Legends“ ever top what they did here? Let’s not challenge them, I am sure they can. But until then, we have this one.

Something was off about you. Everyone started to notice. The way your eyebrows furrowed when you were asked to retell stories from your past, the way you bit your lip when a certain detail just didn’t come to you, the way you stuttered trying to piece words and phrases together.
No one knew what was going on, except for him.
Renjun watched worriedly as you tried to tell the others a story from your past, but were failing catastrophically. His eyes stayed glued to the way your fingers would occasionally clasp and unclasp, a sign which would not be obvious to anyone else, but he knew exactly what it meant.
You were faltering.
He figured something like this was going to happen.
Renjun tilted his head to the side as he continued to listen to your story. His friends, who he referred to endearingly as “The Lost Boys,” were all gathered around you, some sitting cross legged on the ground and some on the low branch of a nearby tree. You were perched on top of a smooth stump, hands properly folded on your lap. Chenle, the second youngest of the boys, was sitting closest to you, completely enraptured by your tale despite your occasional pauses. Whenever that happened, he would nod his head, gently encouraging you to take your time and pace yourself.
Renjun smiled at the interaction, but it was laced with a tint of sadness. You would not have had to go through that if it wasn’t for him. He should have never let you stay here, no matter how much you claimed you did not want to go back.
Despite Chenle’s attempts to get you to keep going, you could tell the others were getting restless. Jisung was fidgeting on the branch above you, incessantly tugging on the leaves and scrunching his nose whenever you stopped to think. Jeno was drawing patterns in the dirt, only half listening. Donghyuck had his legs pulled up to his chest, arms resting on his knees and his chin on his arms. Jaemin was leaning against him, his usually bright and loving eyes now plagued with fatigue. You paused again for the nth time, brows furrowed and lips downturned. An exasperated sigh left your lips and you clap your hands together, garnering the attention from the five boys in front of you.
“I think I’ll stop there for today. We can continue the story tomorrow,” you said.
Chenle whined and reached up, tugging gently on your pinky. “Aw, but you were just getting to the good part.”
You laughed softly, moving your hand to hold onto his. “Then that just means we’ll start from there tomorrow. Consider this a cliffhanger.”
You looked to the others, noticing Renjun standing close by. There was a gentle smile on his face as he looked at you, and you immediately diverted your attention elsewhere, hoping that no one else saw the scarlet gradient appear on your cheeks.
Your efforts to hide it were tarnished by Donghyuck’s teasing and Jaemin’s mischievous smirk. You shooed the devilish duo away with a flick of your wrist, and off they went with a laugh back to the hideout, dragging a confused Jeno along with them. Chenle, who was still pouting from your abrupt ending of the story, was clinging onto Jisung as the youngest of the boys tried—and failed—to carry his best friend.
“You guys go on ahead. I’ll follow in a bit,” you called out to them, receiving a wave from Jeno and a thumbs up from Donghyuck.
“See you at home, Y/N!”
Chenle peered over his shoulder. “Promise you’ll finish the story tomorrow?”
“I promise.” You waved him off with a gentle gaze and he, along with Jisung, trudged back into the shadows of the trees.
As soon as the others were out of sight, the smile on your face disappeared. You slumped against the boulder behind you, head tilted back and eyes closed. You heard the soft crunch of dead leaves as Renjun made his way over to you and sat down. Without even having to look you could tell he was waiting for you to say something, anything.
A few beats of silence followed before you mustered up the courage to speak.
“I’m not going to remember it tomorrow, am I?”
He didn’t say anything back. You sighed. Your head fell forward, eyes landing on the tiny droplets of water dripping from the edge of a leaf. It had rained earlier that evening, causing the seven of you to abruptly stop the game you were playing and seek cover. The other boys were considerably upset by that, and you couldn’t blame them. It was the first time in a few days that they had the chance to go outside and play to their heart’s content without having to worry about the pirates. However, thanks to your quick thinking you eased the tension by inviting them to crowd around you as you presented them with a story from your childhood. A story that was once ingrained deeply in your memories, but now you can hardly remember it. Blinking back tears, you sharply turned away from Renjun, refusing to meet his gaze. You knew that one look into his eyes would render you completely and utterly vulnerable.
“Why are you putting yourself through this? You know you can always go back?”
You didn’t respond. Your body language told him what you wanted to say.
Renjun’s gaze softened and he placed his hand on your shoulder, smiling softly when you didn’t shove his hand away like you usually did. He knew he was basically beating a dead horse at this point, but he needed to be sure that this exactly what you wanted. He’s witnessed the others go through the same predicament, and he’ll be damned if he let you go through with this decision only to regret it later on.
“Are you willing to sacrifice all those good memories you had?” he asked. Renjun felt you tense up under his hand. You whipped your head around to look at him, cheeks soaked with salty tears. A thin line of scarlet rimmed the edges of your eyes, outlining days of emotional baggage.
You’ve been in Neverland for two months. You didn’t think you could handle it anymore.
Maybe...he’s right, you thought. It might be better for me to go ba–
A loud splash and flurry of giggles interrupted your train of thought.. Peering over your shoulder, your eyes immediately spotted the flash of vibrant colors jumping in and out of the ocean. The mermaids had emerged from their cove and decided to take advantage of the peace and quiet now that the ships were nowhere to be seen. You silently marveled at their beauty, entranced with the way their tails seemed to sparkle under the setting star, shining more brightly than ever before. Their hair was let down in loose waves; strands of crimson, teal, periwinkle, and emerald bounced along gently in the sea. Some of them were perched on the rocks, basking in the warmth of the sun, and the others were submerged in the calm waves.
When you first arrived in Neverland, Renjun decided to bring you on a tour of the island. The first stop was Mermaid’s Lagoon. The lovely ladies of the sea were undoubtedly excited to see him, judging from the way they all swam eagerly to the rock the two of you had landed on. You didn’t blame them. At that point you had only known Renjun for a few days, but you were already charmed by his charismatic, yet humble personality. It was honestly impossible for anyone to have ill feelings towards the young boy.
However, upon seeing you taking refuge behind their beloved Renjun, the smiles on their faces instantly dropped and were replaced with scowls instead. You cowered even more. Sensing the obvious, growing tension, Renjun briefly wrapped up what he was saying then grabbed your wrist, tugging you so you were right next to him. He proceeded to wrap an arm around your waist and pushed himself off of the rock, flying up, over, and through the arches until he finally found his way back to the Hangman’s Tree.
For the next few days, you avoided going anywhere near the lagoon. Renjun had just laughed when you refused his invitation one day and took off with a shrug.
“Suit yourself, little lady!” he had called out.
However, that very same night, Renjun had returned with a pouch and dangled it in front of your face. You looked up at him in surprise and he responded with a goofy grin.
“What’s this?” you asked.
“An apology gift,” he replied, dropping the pouch on your lap.
You raised your eyebrows and picked up the brown lump, tipping it over and letting the object inside fall into your palm. You gasped. What came tumbling out was probably the most beautiful seashell you have ever seen in your entire life. It was a conch shell. The outside was a striking shade of orange, fading into a darker shade of scarlet and magenta further into the shell. Specks of gold and silver were scattered all over the conch, reflecting the rays of the sun. The shell was relatively large, almost as big as your palm.
You glanced over at Renjun who was already staring back at you with a fond smile on his face. The Lost Boys had surrounded you, each of them climbing over one another to get a look at the sparkly object in your hand. You paid them no mind.
“Who is this from?” you asked. Renjun’s smile widened and he pointed behind you. You followed his finger and your eyes widened when you saw where he was pointing.
“One of the mermaids felt bad about what happened the other day, and she wanted me to give you that as an apology,” Renjun said, hopping off of the trunk he was sitting on. He skipped over to you and clapped a hand on your shoulder.
“She hopes you can forgive her and her sisters’ behavior and wants you to come visit again sometime.”
Needless to say, you were quite speechless.
Of course you had forgiven them, and even accompanied Renjun the next time he visited. Since then you’ve grown quite fond of the ladies of the sea, going as far to call them your closest friends (Chenle had complained about that when you first expressed it to the others).
A pathetic laugh fell from your lips, and you reached up, wrapping your fingers around the shell hanging from your neck. You treasured that memory. It was the first time you felt like you truly belonged here.
At that moment, you knew what had to be done.
Wiping your tears from your face, you shot up, taking Renjun by surprise.
“Y/N?” he peered up at you curiously, eyebrows furrowed and lips set out in a pout. You offered him your hand.
“Let’s go.”
“Where are we going?” he asked, taking your hand and pulling himself up. You wasted no time and began dragging him across the damp sand. Renjun eyed you suspiciously but made no move to tug his hand out of your grasp. Instead he chose to carefully observe his surroundings, trying to see if he could find out where you were taking him. It only confused him more when his eyes caught sight of the familiar tree in the distance. There was no mistaking it.
Renjun saw the multiple engravings on the trunk of the tree, courtesy of himself and the Lost Boys. Jisung’s floppy has was dangling from one of the branches, and Jeno’s jacket was tied at the base. The closer the two of you got to the tree, the clearer Renjun could hear the whoops and whistles of the boys inside. He fought to stifle his laugh as he took notice of your exasperated expression upon hearing that the others haven’t gotten ready for bed yet. But instead of stomping into the hideout like you usually do, you stopped in your tracks, tugging Renjun forward. He stumbled.
“Here’s the answer to your question,” you said, crossing your arms over your chest. Renjun stood up, dusting the dirt off of his pants. His confused look was fixated solely on you.
“Huh?”
You sighed and pointed to the tree. Renjun was even more confused.
“Okay, just because you point to something doesn’t mean I’m going to understand what you mean, little lady.”
“You asked me earlier if I was willing to sacrifice the good memories I had. At first I didn’t know what to say. The question was overwhelming, and my response could have gone in many different directions.” Your looked down. “If I’m being honest, I actually considered leaving.”
Renjun’s breath hitched. Needless to say, he was quite surprised at your revelation.
Ever since he brought you to Neverland, away from your home, away from your old life, you vehemently refused his invitation to go back. He had warned you of the consequences, but nothing worked. Renjun knew little about your past life. The only knowledge that he obtained from you came in the form of tears and a plea for him to take you somewhere far away. Not one to refuse a genuine request, especially from a lady, Renjun complied. He brought you here. He thought that removing you from your situation would make you happy, but as the days passed and he saw your memories slip out of your mind, one by one, he began to regret his decision.
So he tried. He tried and tried to convince you to go back home. Every single time you refused.
“I thought that maybe you were right. I could easily go back and regain all of those memories I’ve lost,” you continued. “But then I realized something.”
You walked towards the tree and plucked Jisung’s hat from the branch. Your fingers gently grazed the brim, nails tapping against the soft fabric. Then, without missing a beat, you reached behind you, untying Jeno’s jacket with one fluid motion. You folded it neatly and draped it over your forearm whilst Jisung’s hat dangled from your index finger.
“Back where I used to live, my fos–...the man and woman I lived with would always say ‘Let’s go back to the house.’ I never really thought much about it, but then today, Hyuck said ‘See you at home, Y/N!’”
Renjun was staring at you intently. You turned back around to face him.
“Home. He called it home. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
You bit your bottom lip, silently praying for the tears not to fall.
“I was with them for two years. They never bothered to remember my name. I’ve only been in Neverland for two months, and yet you lot—you, the Lost Boys, the mermaids—were more like a family to me than they ever were.”
You turned away again and made your way over to one of the many secret entrances that led to the hideout—your home—and lifted the hatch. Before jumping in, you looked over your shoulder. Renjun was still sitting on the ground, overwhelmed by what you just said. It may not have seemed like very much to anyone else, but to him, you practically laid out your entire life story. He didn’t need to know all of the little details. What you said was enough, almost too much even.
A soft chuckle from you drew him out of his stupor. The two of you made eye contact and his heart clenched at the sad smile on your face.
“So to answer your question, yes. If sacrificing my good memories means that I get a family in return, then...so be it.”
You jumped in, shutting yourself away from the outside and quite possibly, shutting yourself away from your past entirely.
Unfortunately, you couldn’t keep your promise to Chenle because the very next day, the story you were telling slipped from your mind completely.

Entertainment Weekly Arrow Article
We never get any big articles of Arrow, so yeah I am posting the whole damn thing. There were some interesting little tidbits and of course discussion around Emily Bett Rickards’ exit. Is it wrong that I am low key pissed that of course Arrow gets the cover of EW after she leaves? Is it also wrong that while I’m happy Arrow is getting some attention, I’m annoyed it wasn’t an Olicity cover? Cuz that’s where I am at. (X)

How Arrow saved the TV superhero — and why it had to end
As 'Arrow' prepares for the end, Stephen Amell and the producers reflect on its origin story and preview the 'Crisis'-bound eighth and final season.
Stephen Amell is dreading the eighth and final season of Arrow, though you wouldn’t know it on this hot, sunny July day in Los Angeles. Wearing Green Arrow’s new suit, the CW star seems perfectly at ease as he strikes heroic pose after heroic pose on a dimly lit stage. But once he’s traded heavy verdant leather for a T-shirt, jeans, and baseball cap, his guard drops and the vulnerability starts to creep in as he contemplates Arrow’s last 10 episodes, which was set to begin production in Vancouver a week after the EW photoshoot took place and premieres Oct. 15.
“I’m very emotional and melancholy, but it’s time,” Amell — who is featured on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly — says as he takes a sip from a pint of Guinness. “I’m 38 years old, and I got this job when I was 30. I’d never had a job for more than a year. The fact that I’ve done this for the better part of a decade, and I’m not going to do it anymore, is a little frightening.”
Tumblr media
Developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg, Arrow debuted in the fall of 2012. The DC Comics series follows billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Amell), who, after years away, returned to now–Star City with one goal: to save his home-town as the hooded bow-and-arrow vigilante who would become known as Green Arrow (it would take him four seasons to assume the moniker). What began as a solo crusade eventually grew to include former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), quirky computer genius Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), lawyer-turned-hero Laurel Lance/Black Canary (Katie Cassidy Rodgers), and the rest of Team Arrow. Together they’ve defended their city from a host of threats — dark archers, megalomaniacal magicians, and the occasional metahuman — while Lost-like flashbacks revealed what Oliver endured in the five years he was away, first shipwrecked and then honing his skills around the world to become someone else, something else.
The premiere gave The CW its most-watched series debut since 2009’s The Vampire Diaries. But before they launched Arrow, Berlanti and Guggenheim had to suffer through a failure: 2011’s Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds. The duo co-wrote the script but lost creative control of the film, which flopped. So when Warner Bros. Television president Peter Roth approached them in late 2011 about developing a Green Arrow show, they were wary. After much deliberation, Berlanti and Guggenheim agreed, on the condition that they maintain control. Says Guggenheim, “As long as we succeed or fail on our own work, and not someone else’s work then maybe this is worth a shot.”
Their take on the Emerald Archer — who made his DC Comics debut in 1941 — was noteworthy from the beginning. Taking cues from films like The Dark Knight and The Bourne Identity and series like Homeland, the writers imagined a dark, gritty, and grounded show centered on a traumatized protagonist. “As we were breaking the story, we made very specific commitments to certain tonal things, such as ‘At the end of act 1, he has his hands around his mother’s throat.’ And, ‘At the end of act 2, he kills a man in cold blood to protect his secret,’ ” says Guggenheim.
A hero committing murder? That was practically unheard of then. Having Oliver suit up in a veritable superhero costume by the pilot’s climax was radical too. Sure, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was deep into Phase One when the producers were developing Arrow, but TV was traditionally more apprehensive about comic books. Smallvillefamously had a “no tights, no flights” rule and only introduced superhero costumes in the last years of its 10-season run, and there weren’t any masked avengers running around NBC’s Heroes or ABC’s No Ordinary Family, the latter produced by Berlanti (Let’s not even mention NBC’s The Cape, which was essentially dead on arrival and never did get its six seasons and a movie). But Arrow not only fully committed to the idea of someone dressing up like Robin Hood to fight crime with a bow and arrow, it introduced a second costumed rogue, the Huntress (Jessica De Gouw), in episode 7.
“It’s just comic book to the extreme and the fans seem to really love it,” says Batwomanshowrunner Caroline Dries, a former writer on Smallville. “They still maintain it very grounded, but it’s very different with everyone in costumes. The appetite for superheroes has changed in my mind in terms of like they just want the literal superhero [now].”
Not that the team wasn’t meticulous about creating Green Arrow’s cowl. “We had to have so many conversations to get it approved, but that’s why we got [Oscar winner] Colleen Atwood [Memoirs of a Geisha] at the time to [design] the suit,” says Berlanti. “We were determined to show we could do on TV what they were doing in the movies every six months.”
“It’s really easy to make a guy with a bow and arrow look silly. We sweated every detail,” says Guggenheim, who also recalls how much effort it took to perfect Oliver’s signature growl. “I actually flew up to Vancouver. On a rooftop during reshoots on [episode 4], Stephen and I went through a variety of different versions of, basically, ‘You have failed this city,’ with different amounts of how much growl he’s putting into his performance. [We] recorded all that, [I went] back to Los Angeles, and then sat with the post guys playing around with all the different amounts of modulation.”
That process took eons compared to the unbelievably easy time the team had casting Arrow’s title role. In fact, Amell was the first person to audition for the role. “It was Stephen’s intensity. He just made you believe he was that character,” says Guggenheim, recalling Amell’s audition. “We had crafted Oliver to be this mystery box character, and Stephen somehow managed to find this balance between being totally accessible in a way you would need a TV star to be, but he’s still an enigma.” After his first reading, Amell remembers being sent outside for a short time before being brought back into the room to read for a larger group: “I called [my manager], and I go, ‘I know this is not how it’s supposed to work, but I just got that job.’”
Tumblr media
In the first season, the show’s chief concerns were maintaining both the “grounded and real” tone and the high quality of the stunts, and investing the audience in Oliver’s crusade. Beyond that, though, there wasn’t much of an over-arching plan, which allowed the show to naturally evolve — from introducing more DC characters, such as Deathstroke (Manu Bennett) and Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), sooner than they initially intended (the shot of Deathstroke’s mask in the pilot was meant as a harmless Easter egg), to promoting Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity from a one-off character in the show’s third episode to a series regular in season 2 and eventually Oliver’s wife. Even the whole idea of a Team Arrow — which, over time, added Oliver’s sister Thea (Willa Holland), Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) and Dinah Drake/Black Canary (Juliana Harkavy) — was the result of the writers allowing the best ideas to guide the story. “Greg used to say all the time, ‘You have a hit TV show until you don’t, so don’t save s—,’ ” says Amell.
Also not planned: Arrow spawning an entire shared universe. “We went on record a lot of times during the premiere of the pilot saying, ‘No superpowers, no time travel.’ But midway through season 1, Greg started to harbor a notion of doing the Flash,” says Guggenheim. “I’m a very big believer that it’s great to have a plan, but I think when it comes to creating a universe, the pitfall is that people try to run before they can walk. The key is, you build it show by show.” And so they did. First, they introduced The Flash star Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen in the two-part midseason finale of Arrow’s second season. From there, Supergirl took flight in 2015, then DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in 2016, and Batwoman is due this fall. “It’s like the hacking of the machete in the woods and then you look back and you’re like, ‘Oh, there’s a path,” says executive producer and Berlanti Productions president Sarah Schechter. But even though Arrowis the universe’s namesake, Amell doesn’t concern himself with the sibling series outside of the now-annual crossovers. “I never think about any of the other shows,” he says. “I want all of them to do great, but they’re not my responsibility. My responsibility is Arrow, and to make sure everyone from the cast to the crew are good.” His sentiments are seconded by Flash’s Gustin: “I don’t understand how he does it — his schedule that he maintains with working out, the conventions he goes to, the passion he has for it, and the love he shows towards fans. He’s always prepared. He cares more about that show being high quality than anybody else on the set.”
That said, the universe’s expansion precipitated what is widely considered to be Arrow’s best season, the fifth one. After focusing on magic in season 4, the show returned to its street-crime roots as part of “a concerted effort to play not just to our strengths but what made the shows unique,” Guggenheim says of balancing their four super-series in 2016. “Because Arrow was the longest-running Arrowverse show, we were able to do something that none of the other shows could do, which is have a villain who was basically born out of the events of season 1,” he explains of introducing Adrian Chase/Prometheus (Josh Segarra), whose criminal father was killed by Oliver. “That gave the season a resonance.”
It was midway through season 6 when Amell realized he was ready to hang up Oliver Queen’s hood. “It was just time to move on,” the actor says of pitching that Oliver leave the series at the end of season 7. “My daughter is turning six in October, and she goes to school in L.A., and my wife and I want to raise her [there].” Berlanti persuaded him to return for one final season, which the producers collectively decided would be the end. “We all felt in our gut it was the right time,” says Berlanti. Adds Schechter, “It’s such a privilege to be able to say when something’s ending as opposed to having something just ripped away.”
But there’s one integral cast member who won’t be around to see Arrow through its final season. This spring, fans were devastated to learn Rickards had filmed her final episode—bringing an end to Olicity. “They’re such opposites. I think that’s what draws everyone in a little bit,” showrunner Beth Schwartz says of Oliver and Felicity’s relationship. “You don’t see the [love story of] super intelligent woman and the sort of hunky, athletic man very often. She’s obviously a gorgeous woman but what he really loves is her brain.” For his part, Amell believes the success of both Felicity and Olicity lies completely with Rickards’ performance. “She’s supremely talented and awesome and carved out a space that no one anticipated. I don’t know that show works if we don’t randomly find her,” says Amell, adding that continuing the series without Team Arrow’s heart is “not great. Arrow, as you know it, has effectively ended. It’s a different show in season 8.” And he’s not exaggerating.
The final season finds Oliver working for the all-seeing extra-terrestrial the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) and trying to save the entire multiverse from a cataclysmic event. “[We’re] taking the show on the road, really getting away from Star City. Oliver is going to be traveling the world, and we’re going to go to a lot of different places,” says Guggenheim. “Every time I see Oliver and the Monitor, it’s like, ‘Okay, we are very far from where we started.’ But again, that means the show has grown and evolved.” Adds Schwartz, “This is sort of his final test because it’s greater than Star City.” Along the way, he will head down memory lane, with actor Colin Donnell, who played Oliver’s best friend Tommy Merlyn in season 1, and Segarra’s Adrian Chase making appearances. “Episode 1 is an ode to season 1, and episode 2 is an ode to season 3,” teases Amell. “We’re playing our greatest hits.”
But season 8 is not just about building toward a satisfying series finale. “Everything relates to what’s going to happen in our crossover episode, which we’ve never done before,” says Schwartz. Spanning five hours and airing this winter, “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will be the biggest crossover yet and may see Oliver perish trying to save the multiverse from destruction, if the Monitor’s prophecy is to be believed. “Oliver [is told] he’s going to die, so each episode in the run-up to ‘Crisis’ has Oliver dealing with the various stages of grief that come with that discovery,” says Guggenheim. “So the theme really is coming to terms, acceptance.”
If there’s one person who has made his peace with Oliver’s fate, it’s Amell. “Because he’s a superhero with no superpowers, I always felt he should die — but he may also not die,” says Amell, who actually found out what the show’s final scene would be at EW’s cover shoot. “I cried as [Marc Guggenheim] was telling me. There are a lot of hurdles to get over to make that final scene.” Get this man some more Guinness!

“It’s just comic book to the extreme and the fans seem to really love it,” says Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries, a former writer on Smallville.
In the first season, the show’s chief concerns were maintaining both the “grounded and real” tone and the high quality of the stunts, and investing the audience in Oliver’s crusade. Beyond that, though, there wasn’t much of an over-arching plan, which allowed the show to naturally evolve—from introducing more DC characters, such as Deathstroke (Manu Bennett) and Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), sooner than they initially intended (the shot of Deathstroke’s mask in the pilot was meant as a harmless Easter egg), to promoting Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity from a one-off character in the show’s third episode to a series regular in season 2 and eventually Oliver’s wife. Even the whole idea of a Team Arrow—which, over time, added Oliver’s sister Thea (Willa Holland), Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) and Dinah Drake/Black Canary (Juliana Harkavy)—was the result of the writers allowing the best ideas to guide the story. “Greg used to say all the time, ‘You have a hit TV show until you don’t, so don’t save s—,’” says Amell.
But even though Arrow is the universe’s namesake, Amell doesn’t concern himself with the sibling series outside of the now-annual crossovers. “I never think about any of the other shows,” he says. “I want all of them to do great, but they’re not my responsibility. My responsibility is Arrow, and to make sure everyone from the cast to the crew are good.” His sentiments are seconded by The Flash’s Gustin: “I don’t understand how he does it—his schedule that he maintains with working out, the conventions he goes to, the passion he has for it, and the love he shows towards fans.
“My daughter is turning six in October, and she goes to school in LA, and my wife and I want to raise her [there].” Berlanti persuaded him to return for one final season, which the producers collectively decided would be the end.
“Because he’s a superhero with no superpowers, I always felt he should die—but he may also not die,” says Amell, who actually found out what the show’s final scene would be at EW’s cover shoot. “I cried as [Marc Guggenheim] was telling me. There are a lot of hurdles to get over to make that final scene.” Get this man some more Guinness!
