you said you needed inspiration so: I’ve been thinking about how did Obi come up with the name “Ben”? Like maybe it was given to him by the reader when they were young and in love but because of order 66 he was led to believe his love (the reader) was dead and to keep the memory of her alive he adopt “Ben” as his new name.
Feel free to change the story line but I’d love to read your idea on how he came up with “Ben” and since my idea is a bit angsty I hope for a happy ending (maybe they reunite or where never really apart-that doesnt really makes sense lol).

Bandages
You made it to the peak, the mountain in your village which was fabled to hold the answer to your dreams if anyone dared to climb it, to see the sunrise. This was a regular routine mostly because it afforded you with some peace of mind, getting your body to focus on a task rather than the worries of running a farm on your own, especially with harvest season close at hand.
What even were your dreams that you longed to come true? You weren’t sure.
Even in your current circumstance, you were content with everything you had, it was not in your nature to want for more. But the sun slowly creeping up from the horizon was always a sight to behold. It was also the exact moment you saw him. As he sat there in what looked like well pressed robes, his eyes closed as he took in the warmth of the sun, his hair molten bronze that it turned golden when it caught the light.
You were sure for a moment that he was an angel, a divine being living here in the mountain top, the one that possibly grants your wishes. His eyes opened and those blue orbs turned right to you. As though he had sensed you. You stood your ground, mostly frozen out of fear.
“Ah, I had a feeling someone might show up.”, he smiled and it averted your worries.
“I’ve been hurt and couldn’t quite walk back. Would you happen to –
Only then did you see his wound, down his leg, a huge tear down the length of his calf that almost looked like a burn mark.
“Oh dear”, you exclaimed as you rushed to his aid.
“ -have some bandages.”, he finished his sentence but his tone had softened, his eyes focused on your features as you glanced back at him. Almost as if he was surprised too.
“I do have some supplies but I would need to take you to the infirmary. A lot of the republic troopers get aid there.”, you explained to which he thanked you.
“Was it a droid?”, you asked as you bandaged his leg in an attempt to make conversation.
He looked at you as though he was putting together a response that would be easy for you to understand but then his eyes softened when he said, “It was my own fault, ignited my saber before it was needed.”, he huffed but your clueless gaze only made him more curious.
“You don’t know what I’m talking about, do you?”, he asked his brows furrowed together as though he was bemused.
“I’m afraid so.”, you smiled noting that he looked rather young, his hair grazing his shoulders, he was most likely around your own age.
“You don’t know what I am?”, he dug further, leaning closer with genuine perplexity.
“Are you the one that grants wishes to those who dare to climb the peak?”, you asked sarcastically to battle his entitlement as you tied the knot to secure the bandage.
“No.”, he smiled softly.
“Then I don’t know who you are.”, you assured him patting his ankle to let him know that he was free to go.
Your gaze however trickled back to the sight you had come to see, the sun shining over your little village and you sought a moment of rest in the quite.
“Beautiful.”, he said.
You smiled, the view was breathtaking and you could agree with the pleasant stranger on that but when you turned, his eyes were never on the landscape, they were on you.
That was how you had met him, three years ago. You had learnt he was a Jedi, he visited when he could, your little romance was a secret, making the long distance feel even lonelier. But every time you trekked to the peak, you would remember him.
But with his student now all grown up and his need in the capital winding down he found solace in your home. He had stayed for almost a month, and when he was here, he was different. He retired his robes and became a farmer along with you, embracing the mundane daily routines with new joy. Life felt complete and wonderful, as though your dreams had come true.
It was one of those nights, where you slept out in the fields, with summer in full swing, the sky was clear to see the stars and the weather was optimum to not carry blankets. He wore a long white tunic that under moonlight he looked out of this world, his hair was shorter now that it fell over his forehead and his beard added to his rustic appeal making you feel drunk just by looking at him. He trudged towards you where you were seated by a willow tree, the fields swayed in the midnight breeze, the wheat heads full of grain ready for harvest.
He laid down next to you to then place his head on your lap, your long satin slip was just as soft as his skin. How was it that with his golden hair he looked like he belonged to the sun but his blue eyes it was as though even the moon has a piece of it in him too?
You raked your fingers through his hair and told yourself this wasn’t a dream. Minutes turned to hours, filled with stories and laughter or the silence with only his hands talking, as they traced your jaw or the length of your legs. It then shifted to when he was narrating his difficulties with raising his padawan on his own, as you leaned back into his chest, that he felt like a parent and an elder brother, the responsibility at times too much to bear. But as he mumbled his story, you could feel his fingers in your hair, tugging on strands softly and when you tried to move away, he told you to stay still.
“What are you doing?”, you chuckled.
“Testing to see if I still remember.”, he spoke and you couldn’t turn to see his face but you were confused.
“Remember what?”, you asked quizzically fiddling with a stray strand of thread, to which he responded with placing your hair over your shoulder.
“There, all done.”, he said confidently.
He had braided your hair mid conversation, your fingers felt the weave as you touched your hair in the dark.
“Turns out I do remember, just a little rusty.”, he kissed your cheek and you sunk into his hold as you turned to him.
“My sweet Ben.”, you said softly, eyes full of admiration for the man who held you, the man you loved.
His eyes widened, it was a term of endearment he had never heard before.
“Ben?”, he asked you quietly.
You traced the rise of his cheek and pushed back his hair that had fallen forward.
“Because I met you on the mountain peak where dreams come true.”, you whispered, your eyes boring into his when he stilled and as the silence rushed in again with the breeze, he placed his lips on yours, kissing you like he needed to breathe, like this was the only thing that could keep him alive, only you could keep him alive.
And he woke up, in cold sweat, in the middle of nowhere, not in a field but in a dessert, with your warmth miles away, only a dream.
“Ben.”, someone exclaimed.
“Your shift starts in ten minutes, don’t bloody doze off.”, his manager in the meat store yelled as Obiwan rubbed his forehead.
No one knew who he was here. Because he went by a name no one knew, one that felt like home only when it left your lips and when it didn’t, it was a reminder of everything he had lost and a bandage for his torn spirit.

when i started shipping it: Before I'd even finished my Death Note rewatch honestly—I only binge a max of six episodes a day so I didn't even remember what Mikami looked like when I started reading fics that mentioned him. Deadass I thought he had a moustache, I was so convinced in my old memories before I saw him on screen again 😭 BUT YES I read TrashKing's Composure before I finished the series again and found their dynamic there intriguing :3
my thoughts: They just bring a sort of Riza & Roy, Barty & Tom, Crim & Alessio, Aro & Jane vibe to the table that I really enjoy ✨ The Mastermind™ and their feral attack dog—Light says "Bark" and Mikami goes "At what tone, pitch, and volume; poodle or rottweiler?" and that's just SO much to play with >:3 IT'S ABOUT THE SERVITUDE 🤌🤌 THE IMAGE OF LIGHT SITTING CLEAN AND ARROGANT IN HIS THRONE AND MIKAMI STANDING PROUD BESIDE HIM COVERED IN BLOOD 😩🙏 Mikami is Light's favorite little pet and Light is Mikami's everything.
what makes me happy about them: They are soooo unwell your honor 💕 Two freak ass nerds both thinking they're more righteous than they are. Mikami could probably snap Light in half over his knee (dude is JACKED) but he won't 🥰 They're what I need when I want Light pampered and spoiled and getting everything he wants.
what makes me sad about them: THEIR DEATHS. DEAR GOD CANON DID THEM SO DIRTY, MIKAMI ESPECIALLY 😭😭 There is no dignity in death INDEED
things done in fanfic that annoy me: Honestly? (Don't hate me for this one Moon (๑•﹏•)) I don't like how often L is brought up or mentioned in Mikalight fics. Like Mikami is L's replacement in Light's heart, like he sees L in Mikami—they're literally nothing alike 😭 They both have black hair but if that's the only thing you need to be L's replacement then Matsuda would make the cut. Besides; if I open a Mikalight fic, I want the focus to be on Mikami and Light :') If I wanted Lawlight I'd have gone to the Lawlight tag instead, you know?
things i look for in fic: Mikami being obsessed and Light viscerally enjoying his obsession. That's it :3 I want Mikami to be the devoted pursuer and Light to be the deity deigning to touch him out of amusement and curiosity. I like Light in control and Mikami being super horny about it ✨
who I'd be comfortable with the ending up with: For Light, I like him with pretty much everyone lol (have that man running from his harem 24/7), though L and Ryuk are definitely at the top of the list ;3 For Mikami.... it's harder, because I only like him with other people in situations where Light isn't a factor at all, such as they've never met or Light just doesn't exist. Save for maybe Near, because I think captor/captive is always a fun trope 💫 But with Light there (and specifically in Kira Wins AUs) I tend to like him with either Matsuda or Misa, because I can see both of those relationships turning antagonistic >:3 Mikalight is pretty much the only DN ship I have that doesn't have SOME form of chafe to it, so anything else would need to be made interesting for me to ship it.
my happily ever after for them: Kira wins, Mikami uses his eyes and tenacity to become Light's right hand man, and then they spend the rest of time being righteously evil with Light directing and Mikami wielding the scythe—which he is then reward for by Light allowing him to use his mouth and hands and sometimes cock to make his Kami-sama feel good 😌💖
who is big spoon/little spoon: TOUGH QUESTION. Because if it's in a No Death Note AU and they were both,,,normaler, I'd say Mikami. But in any other circumstance I'd say Light, if only because Mikami kneeling between his legs while Light works is practically the same thing as being the little spoon when you think about it :3
what is their favorite nonsexual activity: Not to get super soft all of a sudden, but probably talking. Mikami is canonically very intelligent as well, even if I think his smarts come more from diligent study than any born-in ability like Light's—they've probably read a lot of the same books and I imagine them sitting in comfortable quiet reading together and occasionally looking up to speak their thoughts about the book aloud, which leads them into calm but intriguing discussions. When they're not being murderous psychos, I think they're both actually quite calm and content people, so things like going for a morning run, drinking coffee together, and reading in the same room are definitely their favorite moments otherwise 💗

I've finished the sketch for a Fang Duobing drawing and I'm hoping to get the lineart done today. (That way I can maybe paint it this weekend.)

I recently finished a Di Feisheng drawing, but I didn't like the paper I did it on so I don't know if I want to post it.
I've finished the sketch and lineart for a drawing of Tinn from Laws of Attraction. I need to find time to colour that (with markers).
I also finished and lined characters from The Legend of Anle( 1) and Heroes (2).
Colouring and painting always take me much more time, so I usually leave that till later/the weekend.
Other than all the drawings I'm working on my protective!Fang Duobing gif collection. As of now we're at 112 gifs from 30 episodes.
Currently obsession: LOL. Mysterious Lotus Casebook. The fact I'm working on three drawings and have already finished 100+ gifs in like two weeks should be enough of a clue, I think.

I’m curious, got any more cotc snippets or fics you maybe working on? Also, how do you like S4 so far :)
I've mostly moved on from my old Craig of the Creek fics, but I do intend to finish the Missing People AU fic sometime because it's based off of someone else's story. The reason I haven't done much for it the past few years is that I lost a lot of motivation for it, and I really want to do the story justice.
Besides that, I do have some unfinished fics/concepts kicking around. I looked through the docs and there were some that I even forgot about, like a Raj/Shawn fic that seems like it was going to be hurt/comfort and invlove thinking about growing up and all that jazz. I also had a rough outline done for a fic about how the champions were chosen and got their powers, but I wasn't meshing well with what I had and eventually Champion's Hike came out and somewhat addressed that topic so I put the idea to rest. There was going to be at least one more entry in All The Kings Men called Royal Blood. It involved Cheyenne getting fed up with Xavier being around the house all day and being the spoiled brat he is, so she and Randy both go to the creek to find a way for Xavier to somehow be unbanished. Royal Blood is technically the ending of that series, but I also had some other ideas I could always revisit, and as it is All The King's Men does have a satisfying conclusion with Another Side, Another Chance.
I actually have this snippet that was cut from Sweet as Honeysuckle. I wrote it before I decided I was going to make a series, and before I knew what I was going to do with the Champions. After I figured out what I was going to do with these characters and the series as a whole, it obviously needed to be trimmed so they wouldn't be out of character, but I liked it enough to hold onto it. Here it is:
Shawn's shoe connected with a long, slender leg, and he fell to the ground. His face practically glowed with embarrassment that he'd been tripped in front of his new boyfriend, even though Raj had seen it happen before. It felt so different now.
Raj wasn't concerned with the grace, or lack thereof, of Shawn, however. He was by Shawn's side in an instant, and helped him up. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" he asked, brushing off the dirt that lingered on Shawn's shirt.
"Yeah," Shawn answered.
Two laughs were peppered over their exchange. Raj cast a glare past Shawn towards the perpetrators. Shawn could recognize the sound of Keun and Aggie before he turned to join in with his own scowl. The person who tripped him in question stood over him with a wide grin.
Watch where you're going, stupid,Jackie signed, shoulders shaking with laughter in spite of his silence. Shawn looked away from him so he wouldn't have to listen to him anymore.
Raj huffed, "Who are you trying to impress? Your "king" is gone, and no amount of sucking up to him is actually going to give you any more popularity or power."
In response, Jackie shaped his hand into an 'L' and held it up to his forehead, earning another spatter of giggles from his two companions. No one needed to understand sign language to know what that meant.

As for season 4, it's great! There are so many episodes I rewatch time and time again, like Hyde and Zeke, Galactic Goodbye, Dodgey Decisions, The Quick Name, and Champion's Hike especially. I'd name more, but I don't have the time lol, I'd be here all night!
So yeah, cotc fics again sometime in the distant future, and most of the ones I'm set on doing are already planned/outlined. The second chapter of Children of the Creek and bits of Royal blood have even been started. It's all about when I find the motivation to get back to working on them. In the meantime, expect a lot of Pokemon and Pizza Tower, since those are the only things getting me through my finals at the moment.

Wanted to check back in to say 1) the guilt has gone away. It's FICTION so i dunno why I was struggling lmao. 2) I finished the Golden Age Arc and had to immediately rewatch the first ep so I could see them smiling at each other again (in between fighting each other at least haha).
I can't believe how beautiful and QUEER their dynamic is! I wish I'd known about these two LONG before now. Their story really is going to stick with me I think. (And I plan on writing smutty fanfic about it, so I don't mind it at all.)
Glad you enjoyed it, and that you're not feeling guilty! tbf I think current fandom, with its judginess over fictional characters, makes it a lot easier to end up feeling guilty over little things like that, but I'm glad that's not a concern now. And nice, that's awesome to hear! The fandom always needs more griffguts fic!
btw, not to be one of those obnoxious nerds lol, but if you've only seen the memorial edition anime, I would definitely recommend checking out the manga, or the 97 anime in a pinch if you prefer watching stuff. The ovas cut out quite a lot of the story, especially wrt Griffith's character, and the griffguts relationship. Totally get if you're not too interested, but I feel like I have to mention it lol.

3, 5, & 8 for the new years writing ask!! Happy new year :)
3. Do you anticipate writing for a new fandom this year? Which one?
I have no idea! It’s definitely possible but I have no plans for any other fandoms at the moment! I’ve definitely had ideas for other marvel fandoms (especially crossovers with Loki characters but also others being involved) but other than a vague idea I jotted down for Sylvie and Peggy Carter meeting I don’t have any planned fics for other fandoms!
If I had to predict, the only one I could imagine is if my rewatches of Steven Universe allow that show to dig it’s claws back into me lol. I wrote a few snippets for things when I was like 17-18, after I’d stopped writing/posting fics officially but had short little scene ideas I wanted to write down. I adore that show still but I’m not at peak obsession/interest like I am with the Loki fandom! But we’ll see! It’s always possible that something like that (or maybe even season 2 of Our Flag Means Death?!) could inspire me enough to write something else!
5. Which WIP is first on your list to complete this year? Will you post a snippet?
I have a few that are first up! The main one is my 5+1 Christmas/New Year fic, I need to finish that soon so it’s not *too* far beyond the holidays lol. I’m a bit over half done and it’s short little sections so hopefully soon! Here’s a little preview!
Sylvie shrugs and starts tearing into the present, the goofy mustache themed wrapping paper being shredded effortlessly. She pulls out a long piece of fabric, bright green and covered in a slightly gaudy combination of gingerbread cookies, candy canes, Santas, snowflakes and reindeer. Holding it up in front of her and shaking it out reveals a long fleece onesie.
Loki gives an exaggerated frown that doesn’t stick as he lets out a laugh. “Shall I guess what mine is?” Loki gestures to his identical package.
“I have one too,” Mobius grins, cheeky and way too proud of himself. He clearly knows that his two much more stylish partners aren’t taken by the loud patterned pajamas, but when he’d seen them at the store he couldn’t resist.
“We’re meant to wear them and, ah, ‘twin’, are we?” Sylvie smirks slightly, her eyebrow raised.
“Triplet, yes. And I have more for the other Lokis when they come over tomorrow. Croki included.”
8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is this the year? Can you tell us about it?
It’s not fully in the vault, as I do have a bunch of notes and planning and even a few snippets for it, but it has been dragged along for a while and beyond what I have on the page there has been an insane amount of just sitting and thinking about it trying to sort it out in my brain and make it click! And that would be my Boastful Loki fic! In the vein of having written origins and/or rescues for the other void Lokis, I’ve wanted to tackle Boastful’s story for so long. I have a whole document of outlines and notes from conversations with people like @insert-witty-user-name-here where we discussed ideas and thoughts, all trying to build to the full fic, but it just hasn’t come together yet. Because we know so little about him (barely a personality beyond a few traits and no backstory) there are so many directions it could go, and I already have the main event that causes his deviation (briefly hinted at in “In the Middle of the Night”) but deciding exactly how I want the story to unfold to make it as impactful and fitting as I want, it’s just not there yet 😅 I hope this is the year it finally gets done!! I’m not sure if it’d be better or worse to finish it before Season 2, it’d be nice to solidify it with my own ideas but there’s a possibility he could show up again and we’d get some canon stories for him 🤔 Ideally I’d like to finish before summer/season 2 but we’ll see lol. Even if not the origin, I do have some plans for Boastful to show up and get some more time to shine in the found family series!!

Three Ships
Buck x Eddie (9-1-1) - They’ve had a grip on me since early 2020 when they showed up on my dash and have never let go since. I have no clue if they’ll ever go canon, but I’m going to root for them always.
Pacey x Joey (Dawson’s Creek) - I can’t call them my first ship, but it’s a close damn thing. I remember watching DC every week and just despising Dawson. I know it was technically his creek, but damn was he annoying, especially when he was with Joey. And then there was Pacey. Still one of my favorite television characters ever. They were so cute together and seasons 3 & 4 of the show were just excellent, mostly because of their chemistry and how many scenes they shared.
Bella x Jasper (Twilight) - Team Edward/Team Jacob, who? To be honest, I don’t really know where this one came from. I have just been in the mood recently to read some Bella x Jasper fic, and luckily there are some excellent ones out there. These moods have always ebbed and flowed, but this pairing always seems to come back every so often and they’ve got a grip on me right now. I’ve even started rewatching clips from the movies (??? what am I doing with my life???) and looking for fanvids on YouTube. I’ve always gone for the unexpected/rare pairings, I guess. Thank fuck for fanfic and fan created works.
First Ship
Kimberly x Jason (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) - Does it make sense? Not so much. But I haven’t ever made sense, even as a child. I always remember being mad that Kimberly got with Tommy and would think up scenarios that could change canon even way back then. I was writing fanfic in my head before I even knew what it was. I wasn’t joking about those unexpected/rare pairings.

Thanks for answering that last ask, lol. I half-expected you were going to ignore it tbh. I was hesitating when I wanted to send the ask, bcs, well, duh. It's controversial af lol. Just wanted to let ya know that you're not the only one with that view. (Great minds alike, am I right?) So please don't stop. Really.
This is gonna be a bit of a rant, and if you feel the need not to answer this ask, due to the fear of causing controversy in your blog, I 100% understand. Dunno if tumblr will cut off my ask so i'm hoping this is sent in its full-form.
I honestly agree that Tony gets maybe a *bit* too much spotlight (especially after the CACW shit and fans picking team tony/steve), and I hate that Stephen is just used as a plot device. I don't get why exaggerating a char's innocence is a good thing. Especially if they put other characters *too* antagonised and spiteful. It's petty. And putting another character in it (refer this as Stephen) as a plot device to make the main char more angelic is just.... idk. I'm only using rather insensitive words bcs I'm on anon ngl hahahahah.
Which is why, when I found your ao3 profile, I felt like you saved my life. Cus like. Idk. It's rare to find fics alike. Not really good with words so yeah.
Also thanks sm for tagging your fics properly, lest I wouldn't have found your works.
Ik some authors who share the same idea with the matter, but either they wanted to reach a wider fanbase by venturing into ships and fulfilling people's cravings (that require an ooc stephen, wince), or they simply don't have the writing capabilities to match their intentions -- like you do -- yet, I'm not so sure.
So basically yeah. Binge read your works this week. You're doing super great. Please keep going or else I would've probably never been here in the first place.

Hey it's all chill, my anon friend. I really try not to hate on folks, even when I don't agree with everything they say or do. The world needs more empathy after all. And you've done nothing wrong in this ask here.
I personally don't ignore asks. It may take a month or two to get to some as it has in the past during busy or bad seasons, but I get to them. (I also don't get a ton so they're easy to answer haha.) The only ones not answered are short fic prompts that have taken me over 2 years to get to, which I'd like to finish eventually... some day.
I expanded on the topic about other characters in the last ask so I won't get into it again here, but I will say that unfortunately Stephen is not a terribly popular character compared to many other MCU characters like Tony, Bucky, and Loki. It makes finding fic starring him very challenging. He's also a difficult character to write well, though I applaud folks for trying, truly. It's great when people challenge themselves and don't let the fear of failure or judgement keep them from trying.
Anyone who hasn't written Stephen because they're not sure how to write him, or have written him but aren't confident with their writing of him, I recommend rewatching his origin film in particular as that's often forgotten for what we saw in IW and Endgame. There's also some good video essays about the character on YouTube. Some fanfic of him is good, while others are very bad, so it's a hit or miss there. One shot character pieces that are not concentrating on a ship tend to be more reliable, in my experience, for a better character analysis because the goal of the piece as a one shot is more a character study, and without the romance you aren't looking at the character as part of a unit. You need to know the character before you study how he works as a romantic partner, IMO.
I'm hoping his film helps his popularity, but I do have some fears that it will be drowned out a bit by Wanda. We'll have to see what happens on AO3 in particular, which is where my primary fandom interest lies in this case. I really, really want to see fic that isn't just reader inserts. Totally legit fanfic, but romance is already not my cup of tea and, if they aren't just smut pieces, those tend to be caretaker-Stephen fics which are a dime a dozen with his fics with Tony and Peter. So yeah, hopefully there will be more variety in the coming weeks. Of the action/adventure/drama type. A girl can dream.

honestly dreaming about surprise songs is one of the most fun things about going to the eras tour lol my show isn't until the end of 2024 and i'm ready thinking up surprise songs that i'd want to hear. since she'll be resetting surprise songs and i'm assuming we'll have rep tv by the time your shows are, i am keeping my fingers crossed that she sings a rep track for you! the folklore and evermore sets are probably my favorite during the tour because they're so incredibly stunning, especially visually. the projections during august, the moss piano for champagne problems, the choreo of willow...everything about those sets are perfect and were probably my favorites of the eras tour. the rep set also really goes off so i know you'll have a great time then. the whole concert is amazing! that would be a super cute look for tour, the lover heart around the eye is *chef's kiss*

Omg don't even worry! I totally get it. I was so insanely busy with work and everything, it's a miracle I even get to open tumblr anymore these days.
What have I been up to? Hm, I'm still coughing really bad like 3 weeks later, so I think I might have possibly had the C-word. Work has also been busy, since I work at a bookstore and holiday season... retail hell and so on. Working at a store doesn't really make me appreciate the holidays any more. People can be so horrible and I've barely been keeping it together.
I'm crossing my fingers for King of my Heart for Vienna concert because the friend that I'm going with (and that got me a ticket as a gift), that's her favorite song, so I really want that. I've given it a lot of thought obviously, but The Lakes would be amazing, since it's one of my faves, but also DBATC because it took me forever to not mess up the lyrics and I would proudly scream it, and I just love it so much. Ahh I am so happy you liked the folklore and evermore sets, that makes me even more excited. In a way, I'm super happy we got the movie, because that means I won't be worried about every detail, and I'll be able to be more present. I'm just so incredibly excited!! 137 DAYS!!!!
Of course I will! I'll try to get some for the holidays, maybe I'll have some time to read then. I need a break for real. So this is gonna sound funny, but there's this YA really old book series called Sadler's Wells/Ballet Slippers. And I kinda wanna do a Nace AU loosely based on the main love story in it, so I'm re-reading that hahaha. Also sometimes it just feels good to read something like that for the nostalgia, you know?

i've been rotating your earlier reply in my head since i got it, the one about alvareider and the cross-cultural, cross-class aspect of their relationship, and the power they have over each other that they don't abuse, and the way penelope punches up at schneider a lot and figures he can take it.
then it cross-pollinated with your thoughts about ouran host club, and i started thinking about how any fic shipping haruhi with any of the hosts that goes beyond a fluffy one-shot is going to eventually bump up against the power and class dynamic. it doesn't need to be a huge focus, but it's definitely there around the edges all her interactions.
that would be especially true with tamaki, who has the most direct power over her because of her debt but seems unaware of it; and kyoya, who's extremely aware of the financial leverage he's got, and presses on that in pointed ways, but also comes to truly respect haruhi. they're not her landlords and can't literally kick her out of her home, but that's still one hell of a relationship factor! (plus there's everything about the beach episode, but that's more than i'm willing to grapple with if i tried to write this ot3, at least at first)
thinking also about how the hitachiin twins initially think that tamaki is just collecting his richest and most influential classmates, but he genuinely just wants to be friends with all of them, and how he sort of does the same thing with haruhi and is then very upset when he considers that he may have been demanding too much of her time.
...now i just want to rewatch ohshc.

I did see it around, read this thing but never really shipped to the point of actually looking for content but now? NOW. well. I really want to write aokagakuromomo but where kaga & kuro are just friends
—okay, I finally dragged my ass to work on my wips instead of just continuously creating new ones. worked on the momoriko because I’ve was huh, that’s one is close to finish & because I was in the mood for them. I checked and apparently it isn’t… I don’t know why I thought it was but I HAVE WORKED OUT THIS THING THAT HAS BEEN BOTHERING ME. which! is! good! what isn’t good: everything else. fuckkkk why is smut so hard to write for. so much deleting and rewriting, ha. T.T but…practice…makes perfect…. I am proud of myself! I preserved instead of immediately dropping it like a hot potato when it got difficult. okay, so i got to a decent part I’m satisfied with it. there’s only this little part that bothers and I want to revise, but I’ll do that maybe tmmr because I most definitely need the break now. like oh man, I wrote +211 words but the MENTAL EFFORT IT TOOK. one day!! im going to master smut writing!! and it’s going to breeze

I guess memories are bullets (Isabelle/Raphael, Shadowhunters) it’s pretty angsty by design.

darkened underpass, risqué business (Discworld, Adora/Moist), quite a few of my Femslash February Drabbles series... I tend to love my open-ish, “things could still happen after this” endings, which makes this questions difficult lol.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven’t written any... yet. I try to actively resist the crossover ideas that invade my brain, I have quite enough with the ones that I have for my singular fandoms some. Some of them are pretty insistent though, so it’s not unlikely I’ll end up writing a way too serious Black Sails/Legacies crossover (Billy Bones meets Ablah the Jinni in Skeleton Island!!), OR an appropiately dumb Desperate Housewives/Supernatural case fic xDDD
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not hate-hate, but somewhat annoying comments, yes. I still remember someone that started writing completely unrelated prompts for me to write next lol.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do, but as for “kind”, it’s hard to say? Whatever the story calls. I haven’t gotten to post that much smut yet; a few PWPs, a longer one in an original story on my writeblr. Some examples were a PWP of a established couple trying something new and fun (Adora/Moist, Discworld); a one-shot about the morning-after kind sad sex between people who should be enemies (Anna/Ruby, SPN); or what’s supposed to be the one night stand of two people that nonetheless connect, find something they needed together, and will eventually be the love of each other’s lives (original work, femslash).
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope. I’d love to, I’m. Kind of a translation/languages nerd and I’d be way too invested lol.

Nope, and I think I’m too propietary of my writing to ever do it lol.

Gabrielle/Xena has a very, very special place in my heart. I haven’t written fic of them and I don’t know that I ever will. Some things are not meant to be touched. OTOH I plan to rewatch/complete my watch of the show eventually, so who knows lol.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Ideally I would love to finish strange bedfellows (Isabelle/Meliorn/Raphael) and forget the hearse ('cause I never die) (post-EG ironfam) one day, but I’ve stopped making promises. I consider the WIPs that I’m invested in at the moment a priority over those, especially wings high over me (but really, all my SPN and Black Sails WIPs lol).
15. What are your writing strengths?
I like to think my strength lies in characterization, in getting the characters’ voices right, both for dialogue and for the narration from their POVs. I also enjoy, and think I’m pretty good, on expanding on those characters, on creating details that enrich them especially when they were more secondary in fandom. Likes, dislikes, interests, routines, etc., that make them pop and feel unique and different from the rest.
I’m also still proud of myself for writing exactly 28 100-word drabbles for Femaslash February this year. I don’t know what I’ll do next year to top that lol.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing things <- keeping that LOL. I juggle to many ideas at once, struggling to get anything done ugh. And I still struggle with action and its description more than I will ever do for characters’ inner monologues, which come far, far easier to me. And I’m the worst when it comes to editing, because when I’m done with a chapter or story, I suddenly get SICK of it and can’t look at it for another moment lmao. I need to either let them rest -which I’m often too impatient to do-, or post them immediately and go back later lol.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I did a couple of sentences in one fic -and the footnotes option in ao3 was a blessing. I know I won’t ever do it in a language I’m not fluent in, that’s for sure. Too afraid of being called out on a bad translation xDD
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I became a lurker in the BTVS and HP fandoms at the same time, so either of those lol. The first fandom I posted for was Shadowhunters, with innocence, your history of silence and we stand up peerless on the 3rd of September of 2017. Late bloomer xD
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
I think I’ve written about the ships I’d like to write, but I’ve definitely not posted for many of them. Almost none of my Black Sails ones, for one. I really look forward to that.

yeah it’s pretty wild how I knew this was what happened and was already bracing for it and yet STILL got completely misled by the narrative??? MEN I tell you MEN. I’m also going to use this ask as a method to reply to some of the other commentary if you don’t mind since this seems like a good place for communal frustration (here is my original post for anyone scrolling around lost)
@meg-hemmings: I agree with all of ur thoughts and I would TOTALLY read anything you wrote for Zutara … your writing is among my absolute favorite ever and I think you would write the Zutara dynamic so beautifully!
@one-man-propaganda-machine: I am - begging - you to write it yourself.
I... am not going to make promises, but I may have to. I want something very specific and that never bodes well for me. I doubt it would be more than a one-shot, but there are multiple scenes that could have occurred between episodes that would flesh out what was there (and of course I’d cut the final 15 seconds of the show, much like another epilogue I loathe and ignore)

I’m going to put azula at the top. not because she’s a good person obviously but she’s FULL. OF. HITS. every time she’s on the screen the narrative gets immediately more interesting. she’s savvy and self-assured and I love it. her ending depressed me although I like that it was kind of about the loss of her two best friends? if that had been more of a focus I think I would have enjoyed it more but yeah, losing mai and ty lee could have been rightfully devastating. who among us is not totally obliterated by friend breakups. I also really loved uncle iroh; if anything that’s why I wasn’t invested in zuko’s storyline until close to the end, because watching him disappoint his uncle was very difficult (I get it, he’s a teenager, he’s growing and evolving and whatnot, but also I am closer to being his uncle than to being him so like, yeah). I also hope the peter pan revenge guy (JET that’s his name, sorry pregnancy kills my brain cells) did hook up with both katara and zuko. I love that journey for all three of them. I wanted more time with mai than we got, so there wasn’t quite enough there to love... but I was very down with ty lee interfering on her behalf. what a pivotal moment
of the core characters I think I was quickest to love sokka; the episode where he apologizes to suki and asks her to train him cemented it for me. I think it’s a big deal to show boys apologizing on-screen and owning their misconceptions. I like katara a lot—she’s what a lot of people do with fanon hermione. toph is also great, and part of me feels there is a strong basis for a ship with aang that balances their opposing energy, though I also like the idea of them being platonic besties. aang is... twelve. pretty much every time he was on the screen mr blake (a teacher) was like “man, aang is such a seventh grader,” so it was nice how convincing that was for his emotional journey, but at the same time it was hard to forget he was in seventh grade. appa and momo are STARS. I am sure I have mentioned this before but mr blake really loves animals and he was devastated by appa’s kidnapping; he hugged our dog for about ten minutes after aang found appa. after he decided I was zuko, he speculated that he is closest to aang but he’s not happy about it lol. “ugh, aang and I are such boring pacifists” was I believe his take on the subject

yeah, I think it really sucks that katara, as the emotionally nurturing character, felt shoved into the role of love interest. it’s everything wrong with the distribution of emotional labor in male-female relationships but sure, WHATEVER, apparently nobody thought to ask me in 2008

@gaeleria: THANK YOU!!! Ugh omg that “I’m confused” kiss scene made me actively hate the ending. I knew ahead of time they were endgame, so I tried to make myself accept it early on. Like, I really didn’t like the pairing, but I wasn’t going to be emotionally invested in the romance and it was just going to be like, whatevs. AND THEN THEY WROTE THAT SCENE??! 1000% no. What was even the point of that scene? If they had written it to make Aang have some introspection and realize it’s not all about him, Katara’s feelings matter too, or even apologize, or anything… but no, there was literally no point to that scene. No character growth, it was never mentioned again. Ugh.
this is in answer to both you and beloved @zabbini: yeah this was a fuck-up for sure lol. I think it may come down to editing for time; the series is very irregularly paced, what with the majority of the action taking place in the final three episodes of a 16 episode season. or maybe it’s just because MEN CAN’T BE TRUSTED TO WRITE ROMANCE but either way yeah this was a real misstep and just truly, truly reeked of a particular (white) male attitude about how women think and what they owe. had a bad day, dudes? buy a gun, kiss your forever girl, do whatever you want and it’s fine! (I’m exaggerating but barely)
in terms of what’s so angering for me: a character like katara who previously had tons of agency was robbed of it when it came to her romantic arc, which is just really upsetting. and to be fair, I was equally upset when zuko instantly agreed to the agni kai with azula because it was like okay well katara’s extremely valuable, as you know, but now you want her to just sit on the sidelines...? (more of a story flaw than a relationship flaw, but my chest sunk a little at the idea that katara was going to sit by and watch as an accessory to zuko’s story when she’s a crucial weapon in their collective fight. what a waste, right?)
it’s also especially hard to buy into the aang thing when zuko’s method of problem-solving on katara’s behalf is there for comparison. he asks her what she needs in order to find closure and then from there, does everything necessary to get it without having to be asked twice. versus aang, who is a twelve-year-old pair of rogue lips who never wins any of his fights without the aid of phenomenal cosmic powers...? ugh I’m getting off track but in the end there’s just a complete lack of understanding what female audiences want, though again, I don’t think they were really considering that at all. which I guess is... fair, it’s not the point of the show, but then why make the ending romantic at all? to show that their brand of hero gets everything he wants, I guess
in conclusion in 2008 I’m not sure the industry was capable of doing better, which sucks but isn’t surprising. still, it does fit the components of “stuff I write fics for,” which is I enjoyed most of it but find myself enraged by slivers I compulsively need to fix—WHICH IS STILL NOT A PROMISE but ugh I can already feel myself giving in

The Mandalorian Chapter 11; the rewatch edition
I have found a bit more enthusiasm for this one on the rewatch, so here goes!
- din snapping ‘I’m trying my best here!’ in a vaguely annoyed tone as his entire ship is going up in flames around him because he mostly doesn’t get angry as much as sulky... the height of cinema
- I love frog husband’s clothes, because they’re in a very similar style and colour scheme to frog lady’s but also incorporate the knitwear we see on the people of trask, so it both underlines his belonging with her and implies that he’s been on this moon for quite a while, they may have been apart for some time
especially his scarf is a darling detail and there’s a bit of contrast in texture to it next to his wife’s, it’s nice. he’s wearing a similar kind of vest to what we see on the fishermen later, too
- I think my favourite part of this entire episode (well second after din cradling the baby against him after nearly drowning) is just the design and Vibe of the planet and especially this harbour
for one I LOVE that it’s shown that even in the middle of the day it’s dark enough that the electric lights are still on when it’s overcast (it reminds me a bit of norway during the winter, actually, when dawn just never quite breaks and then slinks off in embarrassment before it’s even noon). and there’s also the... sails? nets? hanging around looking almost like flags, which are very Aesthetic but god knows what they’re for. maybe for drying fish on in the summer?
I think the building in the distance behind frog husband’s back here is a lighthouse? or it could be one of those towers for loading you see when they scout out the empire ship too, I suppose!
and one for my strange obsession with Texture on this show: these fabric-covered crates!!! they look exactly as dingy and moldy as you’d expect them to be in this climate, I wonder what they’re for (& I vaguely want to touch them)
- from the sound of it din’s vibroknife is uh ‘on’ when he pokes the squid thing, and he also goes for the tentacle the furthest away from the baby <3
proof the calamari flan have been scratched up a bit during all that time in din’s pockets! (the attention to detail in this show sometimes istg)
- this is 100% me reading too much into things again, call the overthinking police I’ll do my time meekly lol, but the boat looks a little bit like the mudhorn signet from this angle:
again din keeps his hand on or sooo close to his blaster in this entire scene, he knows this is sketch as all hell
a) once again I want to praise the effects team for how GOOD the aliens look in this episode holy shit and b) the hell is this dude wearing on the straps of his overalls tho
- the dude mando (axe woves) uses his little... wrist launcher thing to shoot with to finish two off the fishermen, so my theory that they can be loaded with other things than the whistling birds for slightly less effective use (maybe without the level of honing we’ve seen din’s be able to do?) is looking good!
- din actually has quite good form when diving into the water, I’m guessing he can swim at least tolerably when not in full armour, being stabbed at from all directions, having just had his son eaten by a sea monster and also being trapped in with said sea monster (I’m a strong swimmer and I can tell you that there’s a reason they make you swim with clothes on from time to time to see how hard it is, it sucks. with metal plates strapped all over you as well? yeah good luck) people don’t tend to hit the water that gracefully without some kind of training in my experience lol. might be some of the training with the jet pack has carried over too, considering he throws himself off that cliff in chapter 12 with similar confidence?
it’s interesting that they’re once again showing us a threat where the armour doesn’t help and even hinders him. we’re so used to the ways it can make him near-invincible, but it can also drag him down (literally, in this case. aha ha ha. well if I’m not here for my own entertainment then what am I here for honestly)
- din’s voice sounding like he’s just on the verge of crying as he cradles the baby (and the sound he makes as he realizes the baby’s alive) is my kryptonite, turns out. fucking breaks my heart into tiny pieces every time, I would die for this man and he wouldn’t let me
- in support of din’s paranoia: so far this season we haven’t been able to go five minutes without someone talking about peeling the precious beskar off a mandalorian corpse, I can see why his mind was primed to move in one particular way there
- I think the fabric of din’s cape has been treated with something that makes it waterproof; the water seems to pearl on top of it rather than soak in! can you imagine how heavy it would get if it did absorb water tho christ
(a bit hard to see at this size but that’s what it looked like to me close up anyway! could also be that it’s wool and that’s why it looks that way but I prefer an elaborate sci-fi explanation here, because it doesn’t look particularly weighed down afterwards) might also explain why he doesn’t seem worried about it catching on fire when he uses the jetpack haha, maybe this is something the mandos do with fabric they’re going to use for a long time
I also enjoy part of the gambeson/undersuit thing poking up from under the shoulder pauldron and cape; I think this is about as disheveled as we’ve seen him since immediately post-mudhorn
- the sound mixing in this scene, where din’s breathing is layered a bit over everything else so you almost feel like you’re in the helmet with him listening to what the others are saying........ oh my GOD, it embeds you so deeply in his POV but so subtly
- not to be biased or anything... but din and the armorer’s armour design is so vastly superior to these guys it shouldn’t even be a competition lol
din looks like an honest to god knight in shining armour except also sci-fi western and the armorer looks like a fucking war goddess from a time beyond memory; the clone wars mandos look like high end cosplayers (eh maybe it’s just my dislike for the boobplates that has me so 😒 lol. also a lot of dudes were very shitty about that whole thing and I don’t say anything but the ‘vaguely-concerned will remember this’ telltale message pops up in the corner every time)
moment of saltiness over: I do like the differentiation between their individual character designs
the differences in body type and helmet design is nice! they look like a unified team, but with individuality. I suspect the ladies have those belts and their armour plates on the hips instead of the front of the thighs to emphasize the ‘female’ silhouette, which. okay fine whatever
- bo katan looks very pointedly down at the baby after saying ‘a group of religious zealots who want to return to the ancient ways’ which makes me VERY nervous for reasons I can’t quite articulate
- the mournful guitar version of the mando theme as din watches the sunset...... hmmmmngh (this might be some Symbolism happening to us folks strap in for the identity crisis he still hasn’t processed)
- I Cannot get over din being so unimpressed by and uninterested in bo katan’s ‘retake mandalore’ sales pitch from literally the first moment dfhasdkjfhsad sorry lady kryze this man just does not do main quest shit, he’s all side quests all the time and that’s why I love him
- as someone who after chapter 8 wrote a whole-ass fic that was wholly & exclusively about din telling the baby he’ll always come back for him... some of the shit he’s been saying this season does feel like it’s been written to mercilessly victimize me, personally and specifically
- guessing this structure in the background is the traffic control tower! doesn’t really matter, I just thought it was neat
- this part of the soundtrack is called ‘ship o hoj, mandalorians!’, which I found incredibly charming haha (it’s ‘ship ahoy’ except how you write it in swedish, good one herr göranson)
- bo katan is vague about who exactly the new mand’alor would be if they took back mandalore to begin with, she doesn’t specify she is planning to be the ruler until she’s already got din on the ship and in no position to refuse to help. gotta respect the grift at least lol
I do love her voice, though, it reminds me a bit of jennifer hale as shepard
- “I need to get back to my ship, with the foundling” your honor I uh love him so fucking much
- frog lady stroking the baby’s back a bit as she holds her hand behind him to make sure he doesn’t fall backwards while playing with the tadpole ;___________;
and also frog husband and frog lady reaching out to hold hands and frog smooching as din and yodito leave ;____________________________________________;
- when din says the exasperated “mon calamari. unbelievable” line, the baby makes that little blowing a raspberry sound he does as if to agree ‘uh-huh unbelu -- unbelly -- unbelievable dad smh’ and it is very very adorable
- there’s quite a bit of Stuff in the concept art that didn’t make it in this time around; I wonder if maybe they cut some stuff for pacing or whatever and that’s why this episode is so short? water leaking into the cockpit of the razor crest, something that looked a bit like whaling going on on the docks and more spaceships taking off (maybe there were originally meant to be some smaller ships defending the big empire one?), there’s quite a bit here
