Get to know you: Sims Style
Thank you so much for the tag, @goatskickin! :D I am ill rn, so please excuse the rambling. x) Long post ahead!
What’s your favorite Sims death? Maybe fright? I've only ever had it happen once via ghost, the anim is pretty funny. :)
Tumblr media
Alpha CC or Maxis Match? My Simblr probably says otherwise, but I don’t have a preference! I’ve had nearly every possible CC style under the sun throughout my years of playing, and I constantly think about reviving my 'semi-realism' folder (living vicariously through you, other simmers!). I didn't play with CC until early 2006 though, so MM is a little bit more nostalgic. :)
Do you cheat your sims weight? Hell no! I'm still in awe of Nysha's townie body diversity mod finally letting townies be fat. :D I wish the game had a better way of managing bodyshapes so I could add more variety that way.
Do you move objects? Of course!
Favorite Mod? Of all time? Impossible! My continued interest in gameplay is always because of new mods. :)
I did gain a new outlook thanks to a mod recently, though! My wild romance sim Blaze Biermann ended up 'mood swinging' to fortune before he went to uni, and instead of reverting, it got stuck.
He had a few flings still (pleasure secondary), but after he returned home and met his daughter (for the first time since her birth), he started cringing whenever I directed him to romance his dates. It felt like he had grown as a person, and I loved it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TL;DR: Randomly change your sims' original aspiration/s to give them interesting character arcs! First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack? I mean, not my decision, but our first TS1 EP was Hot Date. I'm pretty sure I got TS2 EPs/SPs in order of release (miss those days of unwrapping a new one every birthday/christmas!).
Do you pronounce live mode like aLIVE or LIVing? We're LIVE, baby! 🎥
Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? I don't usually get very attached to my first-generation sims, but maybe Evonne Milos, from the gameplay/story hood I accidentally destroyed in four days? Never actually played her, but I had a lot of ideas for a corrupt 'sexpot' politician. x)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have you made a simself? Lots! 99% of the fun I had playing TS2 as a kid was me and my best friend making ourselves and our respective crushes of the week, and we'd always live in one of those Veronaville lots that was two houses connected by a balcony. I can't even tell you the amount of times she got me pregnant against my wishes whilst I went to the bathroom, lmao.
Which is your favorite EA hair color? For colour consistency, probably brown? But there are a lot of brunettes in Brunwick (must be the name!), so I enjoy the recessives popping up in gameplay. :)
Favorite EA hair? Does an EA download count? Jeanette is lovely.
Favorite life stage? Ohhh dude, that's so difficult to answer. They all bring different challenges and dynamics to the household! I feel like I've started to appreciate the child lifestage more since Brunwick has grown large enough to have multiple friendship groups. It's fun watching them goof around with each other and be actual kids, instead of sitting indoors skilling. I really need to build a park! :)
Tumblr media
Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?
Tumblr media
Are you a CC creator? Yes, I really love how this game has led me to so many creative hobbies! Would like to tackle BHAVs one day. :)
Do you have any Simblr friends or a Sim Squad? Yeah! I consider us all friends over our shared enjoyment of the game really, but as a chronic lurker I'm not the best at cultivating connections. x) Does anyone wanna make a secret club? xD
Do you have any sims merch? No, but I do have a bunch of rad sims memories. 👉😎👉
Do you have a YouTube for sims? Nope, but I watched plenty of sim music videos back in the day! Found a lot of songs that way. :) Some formative memories here: One / Two
How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing? I sadly don't have screenshots of my oldest saves thanks to a combo of no external HD and no screenshot program, but here's one example:
Tumblr media
But gameplay-wise, a lot! My early years were probably based around creating stories more than actively playing, but when I did I would just emulate perfect families, attempt legacies, and restart BG hoods over and over. x)
Now I'm all about wants-based gameplay; witnessing and interpreting a story, as opposed to creating one from scratch. But I will add drama if I find my interest waning! x)
Who’s your favorite CC creator? Again, super-duper impossible to answer because everyone's CC makes the game fun, but my most recent CC shopping spree was Honeywell and HugeLunatic! :) 🛒
How long have you had Simblr? Technically 2011, officially 2013, but if we're being pedantic, I finally made a dedicated Simblr (this) in 2016. x)
Tumblr media
How do you edit your pictures? These days, just sharpen and shrink! CC previews aren't too complicated either- a blurred out screenshot for the BG and a shadow.
What expansion/gamepack is your favorite? Ooh… maybe Nightlife, by a smidgen? I feel like it gave us a lot of new features and items, and the subhood was nice (as a non-builder at the time!).
Tagging: @daman19942 @aondaneedles @eulaliasims @profesionalpartyguest @tvickiesims @and everyone else, I love reading these! :D

Hello, everyone! ♥ I just got back home from a long day at the office, ready to prepare for another four like it, and was just told about the comments EA Support have made. I've taken some time out of my evening to scroll a few social medias to check out what I've missed, and to try and say what’s on my chest.
I wanted to open my own heart for a moment of weakness to share my view before disappearing off social media to find the mental strength to be able to finish this workweek. In order to get all my thoughts out on what I’ve seen, I’ve taken many notes to address a variety of things and this is gonna be long. But at least now I feel like I’ve said all I want.
Whether you choose to read this or not, I hope your week started well and will continue to be a good one!
I was shocked to see so many have grouped people as "bad" or "good", saying that if a creator uses Early Access they are selfish and greedy and have no love for the community, only purpose for creating being the money. Jumping to conclusions without the heart to know the person, or their story, or a single care in the world for either is what sounds awful to me. If this black and white thinking is how you see the world I feel it says much more about you than anyone else earning something from a creative hobby.
Yes, there are creators out there who earn obscene amounts of money off this and, sadly, exclusivity. But for every one big of them, there's hundreds smaller who earn a week's dinners worth, or even less. Not everyone makes rent money, not everyone can rely on it. How can you draw a single line without any care for the person behind the screen?
My opinion: Early Access is free items. You get the items entirely for free, however many times you'd like to download it. Absolutely no money needs to be involved for you to be able to reach the "download" button. All that is asked of you is to maybe bookmark the page for a little later down the line. People who want and are able to support, do. People who don't want to or aren't able to, don't. The item, in time, will still be entirely, wholly available for you to get. There is nothing about the process of it that forces you to pay. If it does, that is paywalling. That is exclusive content. That is what I believe has forced their hand. And the perpetual corporate greed to squeeze money from any walking wallet.
For me, you are the ones who saved me after covid hit. I had barely anything for food and relied so heavily on the people around me I have no words for the shame I felt. I created in the free time while looking for a job for months on end, and was eventually able to cover food costs for the month, which many times brought me to tears. For that, and your continued support since, I will be forever grateful.
I have been a part of the community since the release of The Sims, I've been through every single pack and remember years of enjoyment. My love for the game, or the community, is not one that will fade. Creating has been an incredible creative outlet for me that has helped me maintain my mental health while gradually having a busier life. In addition to that, the earnings I've made monthly from your support has helped me cover food costs and any new packs for content, which has left my money from my job to cover rent and living costs, as well as paying off my debts.
Could I continue creating and earn nothing? Of course, I did it for five years before Patreon, so I don't see how that could ever change. Then, however, I didn't have a full-time job or responsibilites that took up most my life. I just had my room, warm food provided by a kind parent, some music, and my computer. Life has gotten richer, but also much heavier. I never created just for the money, but the sudden additional income helped me make it a priority in my life, making it not only beneficial for my mental health but for my financial well-being as well.
Please give a moment to understand people's stories. Please let your heart and mind grow to those who may not have lived, perhaps, as luckily as you, or to those who have wholeheartedly given their time to create and in the end happened to earn something from it. There are wonderful people out there, too. Being good and earning money from something you love doing are not mutually exclusive.
I have made promises for August that I intend to keep. I believe this time will be sufficient to also see whether the support messages will go to their public channel for a definite reply. And no, I am not saying I'm blindly ignoring the message in the support chat. I'm saying that I want to fulfill the promises that I've made this month while waiting to see if we will receive confirmation from them, and not support.
For the risk of losing any other rights in the community, I can't say for certain how post-August will look like. Risking losing CC as a whole would be a very heavy hit. And from what I’ve seen on my dash already, I can't say that people who don't know or care for me won't label me as something to support their own perspective. But do know, if anything, that everything I have made for this community, has been with love.

Sims Tag
Thank you @pixelatedpanic for the tag!
what’s your favorite sims death?
Mostly my sims die of old age, but I do enjoy a good death by flies.
Alpha CC or Maxis Match?
"Maxis Mix! My game has zero consistency but I am free."
^ THIS
Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?
Nope.
Do you use move objects?
Entering "move_objects on" is the absolute first thing I do every single time I load the game.
Favorite mod?
Impossible for me to narrow it down to just one. simNopke, midgethetree, BoilingOil and so many others have completely transformed the look and behavior of my game, and I'd be lost without them.
First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?
I got Sims 1 and Hot Date at Target waaaaaaaaay back in the day. 2002, I think?
Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?
"aLIVE" mode.
Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?
I play the premades almost exclusively, but I do have a very, very dark comedy neighborhood filled with original sims that I can never discuss publicly.
Have you made a simself?
A few times, but playing as myself is… weird, and unappealing.
What sims traits do you give yourself?
Loner, bookworm, dog person, family-oriented, socially awkward.
Which is your favorite EA hair color?
Black or red.
Favorite EA hair?
My bland ass really likes the low bun that Mary-Sue wears.
Favorite life stage?
Adult, tbh. It's the easiest and has the most options.
Are you a builder or are you in it for the game play?
An equal amount of both, I think.
Are you a CC creator?
I wish, but it is beyond my abilities.
Do you have any simblr friends/a sims squad?
I do, and I adore them.
What’s your favorite game (1,2,3,4)?
Sims 2!
Do you have any sims merch?
I have a couple of magnets I bought on redbubble (the pink milk carton with Bella's face, and a cowplant), but other than the games themselves, not really.
Do you have a youtube for sims?
Sometimes I consider it, but ultimately, no. I can't stand the sound of my own voice, and video editing seems like something I would not excel at.
How has your “sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?
I used to download CC indiscriminately, and had my game so bloated with every random possible style, just in case I needed it someday. I've cleaned it out a lot, and am trying for a more consistent aesthetic. Grungy and rundown, but not necessarily diseased.
What’s your origin ID?
spookythings or spookierthings, I'll have to look. Mostly my daughter uses it, and I'm just the sentient credit card hitting the "buy now" button.
Who’s your favorite cc creator?
@serabiet
How long have you had a simblr?
Since 2012, I believe. I had finally cobbled together the first chapter of Emperor of the Dark, only to realize that everyone had migrated from LJ over to Tumblr.
How do you edit your pictures?
I have an unhinged assortment of Photoshop actions I've created over the years, and just continuously tweak them as I learn new tricks.
What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?
Obviously Sims 2 is done now, and I don't play Sims 3 or 4, but more supernatural/occult, anyway.
Or maybe something hobby oriented. I like to bake and am learning to knit irl, so a pack of some sort emphasizing those types of things might be interesting. If I played TS4.
I'm tagging @bayoubashsims, @serabiet, @nigmos, @ghostwaltzsims, @medleymisty and @ofmdee, but feel free to ignore.

Hello murfeel, I don't know if anyone ask you this before but what do you think about the news of sims 5 being planned by ea?
Hi! I see we're starting 2023 on a positive note, getting me triggered by EA's shenanigans! 🤣
Yeah, so far I've only commented briefly about TS5 in this post, when EA did that stupid Summit thing where they showed off how much they're trying to one-up Paralives. 🙄 OOoOoo~! They're bringing the color wheel back after swearing on a stack of bibles that CASt was the worst feature in TS3 and TS4 didn't need it and their wacka** LACK of customization was the FUTURE of gaming--zomg lemme get my wallet ready~~! 🤡
Like, EA, everyone knows you're good at Build/Buy mode and CAS--people don't call TS4 a DOLLHOUSE SIMULATOR for nothing. But where is the EFFING GAMEPLAY? I feel the same way about Paralives--I don't need to see anymore of their builds or Paras--I want to follow sims INSIDE their places of work and school (no more EFFING rabbitholes); and see how they act come rain, snow or shine; and I want pets aside from just cats & dogs and RODENTS EA. And different cultural representation, so it's not the same generic American suburban cookie-cutter crap all the time--give me simulated life of the islands, the tundras, the equator, the poles, the Nth/Est/Sth/Wst hemispheres, the cities, the farms, the jungles, the corporate ladder, off the grid--in fully fleshed out EXPANSIONS with living breathing WORLDS, not watered down Game Packs, for crying out loud. Do y'all even remember what Expansion Packs are, EA? If only every pack was given HALF the content and attention to detail that Seasons always gets! It's a sad state of affairs when the best pack y'all ever released was for VAMPIRES. 🤦‍♀️
I get stomach ulcers every time I hear about how people spent over a THOUSAND DOLLARS on TS4 and are clamoring for the torture to be over already so TS5 can hurry up and screw them over instead. The biggest complaint simmers have been screaming at EA about is how dang BORING TS4 is, because
the game is too easy, and people have to cheat to make the game HARDER wtf
the game is too buggy and none of the fancy "features" effing WORK, releasing ENTIRE PACKS BROKEN, with patches that make everything worse
the features TS4 does have that actually work are shallow AF and a lot of them are repetitive/redundant or they don't carry over to other EPs/GPs/SPs to make the gameplay deeper and richer you had one job EA
TS4's worlds are too small and we don't even have CAW, but EA promised us that smaller non-open worlds with no CASt and no Story Progression would make TS4 run so much smoother than TS3--gosh golly, now if only my save would stop laaaaaaagging 😩
where are the skills where are the careers where are the hobbies other than streaming/blogging where are the NPCs where ar--
the sims' emotions & action queues are out of control, but the EMOTIONS were the MAIN thing the dev's pitched when TS4 was announced over a decade ago; why are my sims acting like crack heads when you said they'd be so much smarter?
the kids are totally ignored, where the teens are basically young adults with curfews--but zoinks! they're finally going to update the bassinet-babies after TEN YEARS so the legacy players can actually PLAY WITH LIFE and interact with babies! Maybe if we're lucky, they'll patch in some frikkin preteens so the life states in a life simulation game actually make sense!
the alpha vs maxis match saga continues
Look at everything Sims Freeplay has--it's monetized to hell and back, but at least they have COOL stuff! WHERE IS IT in TS4? Will that stuff be in basegame TS5???? EVER? Or will EA just keep showing us how many throw pillows we can rotate on couches in rooms full of clutter that aren't even interactive objects? 🙃 Paralives has Paras ziplining off of rooftops into their pool--will basegame TS5 even launch with pools and swimmable water, or will that feature be locked off behind another lukewarm paywalled EP where you can only ever swim in ONE (1) world? 🏝 And now that EA making basegame TS4 free to play, they have carte blanche to microtransaction people to death with useless Kits full of DECOR and mess in TS5, too, huzzah!
And they keep bringing up MULTIPLAYER--THEY BETTER NOT. 💀
GOD, I hope the TS4 simmers go off on EA and tell them that TS5 CANNOT be TS4 2.0. Don't have EA walking around thinking TS4 was the right way to do life simulation gaming. TS4's enormous player base means diddly squat if people don't play the game to PLAY the GAME, only using it as the base for their Blender renders -- quantity does NOT equal quality, EA!
I'm not even staying on top of TS5 news anymore, listening to Lindsay Pearson lie to my frikkin face; promising me the moon only to have it turn out to be made of government cheese. The proof is gonna be in the pudding once the game actually LAUNCHES in a zillion years; I refuse to get hyped.
But I am PRAYING EA does TS5 right. Or at least that they make something better than TS4--it's a low bar, I know, but baby steps. Believe it or not, but I'd actually like to play a sims game that isn't TS3 sometime this decade. 🙏 TS4 had so many red flags; everyone knew it was a mobile game port, we're not THAT dumb, EA. Plus, TS4 was just too effing ugly for me. I hate the cartoony playdough look, and the lack of CASt and customization was an IMMEDIATE dealbreaker; so at least EA learned ONE lesson in all this time. *slow claps* Now we just have to see what they'll do about the actual GAME, the part that MATTERS.
Lemme stop, before I pop a blood vessel.
Wake me up when TS5 has more gameplay than Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley.

sims tag!
tagged by @simmer-until-tender & @themeasureofasim (so long ago, whoops) thank you!
Favorite sims death?
I've only ever seen drowning, fire, and old age in my game (so boring, I know) but I think I have to go with Murphy Bed for sheer "unlikely but plausible" horror.
Alpha CC or Maxis Match?
Maxis Match with a little soupçon of semi-realism, particularly with hair. I just love that classic Pooklet shine.
Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?
No way -- the Townie Body Diversity Project is one of my favorite mods for a reason! We need more fat sims! If I could have one no-questions-asked Sims 2 wish granted, it would be more diverse bodytypes for all existing meshes (dream on, I know).
Do you use move objects?
Who doesn't? I basically only have it off to place diagonal doors and windows.
Favorite mod?
This is such a hard question because there are /hundreds/ of tiny QOL mods that add up into such incredible gameplay. But I'm going to go with either the Community Time Project or Skilling on Community Lots! The latter especially makes so many community lots... actually worth it. I don't think I could play without it. Why bother otherwise?
First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?
I think I actually got Nightlife before University and I loved it. Everyone was a vampire and had the most expensive car. Life was simple and good.
Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?
Live as in "we're going live!" The other way feels so bizarre in my mouth.
Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?
I will always have a soft spot for an alien sim named Laika from many, many neighborhoods ago. She was my icon for a long time!
Have you made a simself?
Only when I was younger! I like The Sims (and most media, tbh) to be as indulgent and escapist from my own life as possible. Like, what am I doing there?? I have the same reaction to self-insert fanfiction too. What is my purpose in this narrative? No thanks.
What sims traits do you give yourself?
For TS2: Lazy, Playful, Pleasure Aspiration.
For TS3: Vegetarian, Absent-Minded, Good Sense of Humor, Neurotic, Over-Emotional 🥲
Which is your favorite EA hair color?
I assume this is a question tailored to one of the other games, lol. As a kid I always loved shortslick in red because it was a slightly different shade than the other red hairstyles in the game, and it felt like the closest I could get to a new hair color without CC (which I didn't know how to download).
Favorite EA hair?
I really love the paperboycap hairstyle that came with Apartment Life! I wish there were pookleted defaults of it that just retextured the hair and kept the hat. Sometimes I use it anyway even though it doesn't match the rest of the hair in my game. It's cute!
Favorite life stage?
I actually really, really love the Child life state! There is so much that children can do (painting! gardening! cooking!) and it feels like after a toddler life state that doesn't have much variety between sims, you finally get to get a feel for what kind of person they're going to be. Plus, so many cute social interactions between other children and their parents. I'm always sad to see them grow into teens :(
Are you a builder or are you in it for the game play?
Both! I'm honestly not a very good builder and often get impatient because I just want to play and take pictures. But then if the world doesn't feel "real" or visually appealing enough, I get frustrated because the gameplay isn't as satisfying. I constantly have to force myself to stop and focus on building so I don't overshoot on the playing in a way that feels dissatisfying. Fun hobby.
Are you a CC creator?
No, but I have a lot of practice downloading things :)
Do you have any simblr friends/a sims squad?
I've never been in the Sims community consistently enough for that, but there are plenty of names that give me the happy little "ah, you! 🥰" thought bubble over my head for when I see them on my dashboard!
What’s your favorite game (1,2,3,4)?
Must you even ask?
Do you have any sims merch?
I have a pair of plumbob earrings! They're understated enough that I feel like I can get away with wearing them to work. Someone actually correctly ID'd them once, too!
Do you have a youtube for sims?
No, editing pictures and posting here is enough of a timesink on its own. But I love watching speedbuilds!
How has your “sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?
Wow, so much. If this is about visuals, I didn't really have a cohesive style until I stumbled upon GOS in 2007 or so. The grungy look and my emo phase were like a wine & cheese pairing for the ages. When I got back into the Sims again in college in 2012, I'd shifted to a brighter style bordering on cartoonish (hello snapdragoned psd!). I think now I'm a sitting somewhere a little more muted, but hopefully still fun to look at 😬
If this question is geared more towards play style, I'm playing in rounds for the first time in... ever. I used to just wander into households and play until I got bored, or focus only on one family. What a difference it makes! I don't think I've ever been so hooked/consistently eager to play.
What’s your origin ID?
You people still use Origin?
Who’s your favorite cc creator?
Don't make me pick! There are a mind-boggling number of active creators out there still making beautiful, functional content. I adore and appreciate all of them! The game still feels so new and fresh. It was such a treat to come back to after a long hiatus.
How long have you had a simblr?
...eleven years 🥲 My GOD, do you ever feel old?!
How do you edit your pictures?
I should have read ahead before I mentioned the PSD, lol. I use Greenshot to take screenshots, then manually resize them in an old, super legal copy of Photoshop. Then I run a batch Photoshop action (sharpening, brightening, making colors more vivid) on them. Done and dusted.
What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?
I guess I'll use this section for my dream mod. I would love more crafting benches/craftable items and more hobby options for the Freetime hobbies! Or a new Supernatural life state.

iirc newer simmers are rly into family play so ea is focusing family friendly/actual aspects of life.. teens and young adults are played most even in sim stories so i think thats why we get more content for those life stages. i dont even see ppl on simblr play elders and everyone is so quick to age up kids..
i don't think this is really fair to say though... of course people skip through the child and elder stages more than anything else because those are the most lackluster life stages in ts4. elders get jack shit to do, literally nothing except age up and die in 3 days. no bingo, golf, volunteering (one that's not a rabbit hole), synchronized swimming, group walks, puzzles, scrapbooking (would be perfect to use the in-game photos), etc. etc. that's not even mentioning things like walkers, canes, wheelchairs (wheelchairs should just be a thing already in general, i can't believe they're not). as for kids, they're boring as hell because ts4 made them boring. their school day is a rabbit hole so you don't get to see them for most of the day. even after-school activities / clubs are mostly rabbit holes. then when they return, they have to do homework for hours. the parenthood game pack did some great things as far as personality goes, but kids still have nothing to actually do. they have 30 varieties of boring activity tables, but no new interactions with new objects. no hobbies or skills that are specific to kids. let them perform in goofy school plays!! let them have violin performances, sports games, ballet recitals, etc. hell, make them cut scenes if you need to! there’s just..... nothing. the sims franchise thrives on family players, that's true. so that's why i'm all the more confused why they refuse to give us such basic gameplay for families 🤔
btw i’m sorry if this comes off as aggressive towards you, that’s not how i mean it at all. i just don’t like to give EA credit for charging people thousands of dollars for a “complete” game that’s not even complete because there are so few features available

Sims tag
Thanks for tagging me, @twofee!
1. what’s your favorite sims death?
If I need to kill a sim without cheats, then fire because it's quick and easy. In my normal gameplay, however, I'd say any death that feels random. Most of my sims live until the old age, so having the game pull the rug from under me is always exciting.
2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match?
A secret third thing aka my downloads folder is older than most modern CC systems.
3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?

24. How do you edit your pictures?
I cut them down and adjust brightness in PS.
25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?
Not relevant to TS2, but I guess I'm interested in other life simulation games that are in development now. Don't think I'll ever move on from TS2 as it's been my hobby for almost two decades now, but competition is good for the genre.

Cars Expansion Pack
What would make "Cars" big enough for an Expansion?  I had to think about this one. But the answer came quickly once I got started. What's the one thing that makes a pack worthy of being called an expansion...A new World.  So, what if we got a new world that was designed to be routable... So, not a completely open world, but a more routable world so you see your sim driving.
As for the previous worlds, we would only have animations like TS2 where you pull out onto the street and then they disappear. But  what about a world made for cars. A world with car washes,  used car lots, mechanic shops, chop shops, car lots that sell lemons but you work your way up to selling expensive cars, collectable cars, classic car shows you could enter and win prices. New clothes and hairs (naturally), new radio station, new woohoo spots (could you imagine coming out of the car wash with bubbles all over you. They've done dumber.) and maybe even a tv channel showing race cars.
And for builders they have new lots to create. EA loves builders. They could even add on to the Interior Designer career if they had job orders to build a fancy garage or organize the home garage. New shelves, tools, hang bikes up etc.  We'd get decor for organizing the garage and maybe even think big like IRON MAN, he had a cool garage! Teens could need driving permits and of course the return of the fixer-upper.
Teens could break curfew and take off in the car late at night or we could get burglars back with the pack and have to put car alarms or they get stolen.  Naturally you would have moodlets for and relationships with the car (Christine), and this would also give new aspirations and careers. Careers could span from car salesman, to race car driver, to drivers ed  teacher.
New traits like Car Enthusiast, and the introduction of the Mechanical Skill (new hobby). Maybe the new Aspiration would be to own 10 cars worth a million dollars. An Aspiration to sell 50 cars. An Aspiration to win a car show or refurbish a car and sell it for a certain amount. Maybe they even add motorcycles back from TS3. Ahh, just think of the hot girls in those cool bikers jumpsuits.
They could also bring police back with a police car to give you a speeding ticket right as you pulled up to your location. LOL  But a new world would be a reason to put the EP price tag if it was designed in such a way that you have larger routable areas and the town had maybe 3 neighborhoods that offered something special.
Maybe one hood is for the car show "festival", another is for the chop shop and mechanics in a more urban or rural setting, and the third could be for the high end cars for the rich and famous. You know, the cars on petal stools spinning high up with the lights flashing like they are trying to send the batman signal. LOL Well, maybe not that grand but something like it. Anyway, Yeah. I'd move my sim there.
Plus they could add in the transportation that TS2 had, where school busses and taxi cabs magically appear in front of the house to take you to school and work, only to blast the horn annoying the neighbors until you finally get in the vehicle before it slowly pushes forward and then disappears into thin air. LOL  It was great in TS2. I wouldn't even mind them surprising us with a helicopter, since they already have them in San Myshuno already. LOL   Anyway, Yeah. I could see cars as an EP, if they did all of that!

NIFTY KNITTING - GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW 🧶
Gameplay was what I was most excited for with this pack. As an irl crafter + crocheter, this is the dream! ✨ (Still would like a hobby pack though, EA).
I ended up going a lot more in-depth than I thought I would, so obvious “spoilers” under the cut.
Tumblr media
I was provided with an early access copy of Nifty Knitting to review via the EA Game Changers program!
Tumblr media
Getting started with the knitting skill is as easy as plopping a bag or basket of yarn into your sim’s inventory and picking something to create! At level one, you’ve got the choice between nine different beanie variations for all ages.
I noticed my sims had a tendency to gravitate towards rocking chairs for knitting, unless directed to sit elsewhere. You can pick their knitting spot by clicking on any sittable surface and telling them to knit in the pie menu.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, the bag or basket has to be in your sim’s inventory to do any sort of knitting. In my opinion, this sort of defeats the purpose of having yarn sitting around the home. It’s honestly a shame, since my apartment is covered in random bags of yarn and half finished projects. It doesn’t stop you from placing them for decoration, but it does make for some useless spending for sims on a budget. And honestly, what was the point of voting on what this looked like if we’re never going to see it outside of inventory?
Additionally, each sim will need their own basket of yarn in their inventory if multiple members of the household want to knit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As your knitter progresses through the skill, more things will become available.
level one - beanies
level two - socks
level three - mailbox cozys, hanging plants
level four - rugs
level five - sweaters, the ‘teach to knit’ interaction
level six - poufs
level seven - decorations (cacti, turtle, octopus, penguin, llama)
level eight - toddler and baby onesies
level nine - sweaters with scarves
level ten - child toys (bear, grim reaper), mentoring sims in knitting
completed aspiration - yarny toy, yarny sculpture, ‘sacred knitting knowledge’ trait, bonus when teaching other sims, ability to dispel the sweater curse
I was honestly pretty disappointed that onesies require such a high skill level. I’ve really been looking forward to decking out all the babies in my 100 Baby Challenge in cute new clothes. Like I mentioned in my CAS review, I don’t foresee Day having the time to devote to knitting in the forseeable future, much less getting to level eight.
Thankfully, items are available to buy on Plopsy!
Tumblr media
According to the gurus, Plopsy can also be used on the computer - but I never even thought to try it. I was honestly surprised that it was fully functional on the phone, both for buying and selling items.
Buying something on Plopsy is just like anything else in the game - funds are immediately deducted and the item can be found in your inventory. When purchasing clothes, you’ll need to select the item once it arrives in your inventory and hit ‘add to wardrobe’ in order for it to appear in CAS.
I specifically tested purchasing baby onesies, and it seems like a mod I have prevents them from actually being applied to the baby. I have no idea which one, but I tested two onesies purchased from Plopsy in a CC free game and had no issues.
Failed item variations cannot be purchased on Plopsy - your sims will have to make those all on their own!
Tumblr media
Selling items on Plopsy is probably my favorite part of this pack, and has the potential to be a huge money maker! Most things your sim can craft with a quality value assigned to it will have the option to be listed online from the sim’s inventory. I was able to list paintings, woodworking sculptures, herbal brews, photographs, flower arrangements, potions, candles, and knitted items for sale!
One of my test sims knitted a sweater dress and the cost of yarn was deducted automatically from her household funds - §50. She listed the dress on Plopsy, and within 24 hours she had an offer of §747. 💰
After knitting and selling duplicates of several items, it definitely seems like the cost varies a bit depending on the buyer. But I was always able to sell at a profit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Believe it or not, there are dangers to knitting! This pack doesn’t come with a new death, but instead a curse. In my opinion, this is a super fun change and I’m so glad for something different.
There’s a chance that when giving a significant other a knitted sweater, both sims will become cursed!
Oh no, you’re cursed! They say couples with the Sweater Curse are destined to break up, so be very, very careful. Maybe don’t try anything romantic for awhile, because it will not go well. The threads of fate can be cruel.
So naturally, I cursed Bob and Eliza and then spammed the hell out of romantic interactions. They were all rejected. Their relationship plummeted in the span of a few sim hours. I didn’t stick around to see if they would organically break up on their own, but it wasn’t looking good.
It’s worth noting that I was never able to get this to work while they were married, but the second I demoted them to dating they got hit with this nasty seven day long moodlet. So if you plan on gifting sweaters to significant others, it’s definitely worth completing the aspiration.
Tumblr media
As fun as the failed knitting items and the forbidden sweater look in CAS, there are consequences to wearing them in game!
The moment a sim puts them on, they’ll receive a negative moodlet:
Itchy Knits (From Clothing Item) It’s as if a thousand tiny insects are nibbling the flesh!
I’m a little disappointed that these aren’t feasibly wearable in game, but I’m sure someone will fix it with custom content. It does add another unique repercussion to knitting, though!
Tumblr media
On a more wholesome note, the ‘teach to knit’ interaction is absolutely adorable. 🥰 Knox sat down with Bee, his daughter with my simself, and got her skill all the way to level four!
Children can knit on their own without being taught, just like adults. But I have very fond memories of my grandma teaching me to crochet as a kid, so this was an interaction I was SUPER excited to see in the game.
Tumblr media
I still feel like this is a small pack as far as physical content goes, but the gameplay is pretty fun. Plopsy is an amazing feature, and I definitely see myself using it often! Both with buying and selling, I really feel like it adds another layer to the game and gives more self employment opportunities for sims that don’t want a traditional career.
There’s a bit of gameplay I feel like I didn’t get the chance to fully explore yet, but I’m looking forward to integrating it all into my game.
My initial reaction to playing this pack was disappointment, but I honestly think my expectations were too high. This is a stuff pack, it’s bound to be small. After a few days to sit and play around with it, the gameplay specifically grew on me. I still have a lot of mixed feelings - some things I really like and some things I’m just not crazy about at all (cough cough, buy mode. why did everyone vote in crazy pastels? it matches NOTHING).
But with tempered expectations in mind, I would ultimately recommend this pack for the gameplay elements alone - especially to crafters. As always, different people enjoy different things. If this style of gameplay isn’t your cup of tea, pass it up or wait for a sale!

22 facts about Josie ❤
Tumblr media
Here it is! I wrote this and something else today during my short study breaks and it was hard to then come back down to Earth from the world of my imagination and focus on the “real” things. Just...a little behind the scenes fact haha.
Full name: Josephine Lyra Grant, soon-to-be Vatore 🥰
Height: 165 cm
Sexual orientation: Either straight or heteroromantic demisexual, she would really fit that definition. But she herself doesn't really think about this much.
Where are they from: Windenburg
Occupation: Well, she's a witch who helps people with her spells, so I guess…that. She didn't require it at first, but they paid her anyway, so now she does it for money. I mean she’d be dumb not to, sooo...
Bad habits: Biting her nails and the skin around them when she's nervous. Yup. She hates it, but she doesn't even notice when she does it.
Insecurities: Like most girls, she sometimes has body-image related worries. They’re not as bad anymore, it used to be much worse growing up.
What makes them proud of themselves: She's never been cursed. Same can't be said about her soon-to-be husband…
How would they describe themselves: “A girl who never thought the stuff she had read about could be real, but she’s really happy they’re her life now.”
Hobbies: Playing the guitar, singing, gardening
Dream vacation: Nature. Doesn’t matter where, as long as it’s pretty, peaceful and far from civilization.
Favourite animal: Cat! She's a total cat person.
Favourite music: Either stuff like Hozier or Lorde or some chill 60s/70s music.
Guilty pleasure: She still likes to watch cartoons. (Saaaame.)
Pet peeve: People who make others feel bad about themselves. Like, come on! No one needs your negativity!
Favourite subject at school: She liked Biology. Learning about plants was her favourite thing.
Anything strange about them: Technically it’s not that strange, but she still can’t believe it. I didn’t really show it in my gameplay (just hinted at it), but her family actually comes from the magic realm. The magic bloodline just got really weak over time, but it was restored with Josie.
Best friend: I don't wanna sound uncreative but when most of my ships are the "friends to lovers" kinda ships…I've gotta say Lucian 😅
Partner: Lucian
One trait they like in others: Selflessness
How would you describe their aesthetic: Comfy and getting witchier and witchier as the time goes on. (is “witchier” even a word lol? I mean it looks right and wrong at the same time to me)
Random fact: Before Realm of Magic was announced, I was going to have her, Lucian and Claudia form some sort of a band. But then RoM was released and I decided to change my plans. It was worth it. Maybe I’ll do an AU if we ever officially get bands in TS4...pretty pretty please EA, give me a band pack or something like that and I swear I’ll stop complaining after that
Thanks for the ask! ♥

Snowy Escape Musings
Just some thoughts on the new expansion AND the new free updates. Just gotta get it out somewhere! Under the cut so as not to bother anyone with a potentially long post of my personal opinions haha.
I am so excited to be able to have rental/vacation lots on non vacation worlds! While I am sad that you can’t live in Selvadorada I am at least USED to that since in both TS2 and TS3 you couldn’t live in vacation worlds without mods (although sims 4 is supposed to IMPROVE upon these features but I digress). I can’t wait for bed and breakfasts in Windenburg and tropical resorts in Sulani!
I’m not a very good builder but it is awesome that you can do split levels purely for the awesome builds I know are going to come from the community. Can’t wait to download them!
Sentiments seem interesting. I’ve seen a lot about how they have the potential to be rendered completely useless due to the fact that the buffs they give can be easily overtaken by other buffs. In the stream this sim had a rage buff from being near an enemy with a +1 and was EASILY negated by all the energetic buffs he had from various things. I hope modders might be able to adjust it and make it more meaningful and impactful. Otherwise it’s a neat idea. Definitely not what we needed (i.e. overhauling the already bland and useless trait, whim, and relationship system OR adding a decent memory system) but cool nonetheless.
Lifestyles are...eh. I miss hobbies from sims 2. There really don’t seem to be very many lifestyles and frankly they just seem like what the traits SHOULD be (i.e. add buffs, make certain tasks easier and others more difficult, affect needs or skill gains). Like we already have an active, romantic, outdoorsy, etc. trait that should have already been doing what the lifestyles are now going to do so...falls flat for me. And there just aren’t enough to make your sims unique especially considering how shallow and basic they are. I would have preferred that they just fix the traits and add a hobbies/interests system like sims 2 had. Oh and fixed the whims that they seem to just be avoiding lol.
The world itself looks visually great. I like the addition of unique cultural things that also add some gameplay (can you take your shoes off in any world? Please say yes. I don’t know anybody here in the US who keeps their shoes on indoors). The build/buy looks awesome. CAS looks awesome. Sims 4 is nothing if not a pretty game. The mascot is pretty cute. I love the addition of actual hiking and being able to go as a group and autonomously take pictures (do they actually save anywhere?). The festivals seem alright. I don’t mind the festivals in City Living IN THEORY but in practice I do them once with each new family and then never go again because....why? They are also buggy and not worth the effort. We’ll see how these go.
The new activities are, again, cool. The hot pot at the kotatsu (I believe that’s right) is awesome. The snow sports are very cool (but too bad you can’t just go sledding in other worlds). I already love the little Simmies that you can collect as collectables ALWAYS add more gameplay and fun to sims. Again hiking looks fun but I really hope it applies to Granite Falls because...that would make sense there’s literally no reason why you shouldn’t be able to really hike in that world. Festivals I talked about above along with Yamachan. Onsen/hot springs are also pretty nice but we’ll see how much it really does for your sims that makes it better than just a hot tub or sauna. Am I missing any gameplay? Oh yea, mountain climbing.
Here’s the thing...I’m not sold on the mountain climbing. It seems boring to me. You’re just having sims climb different levels and making sure their needs don’t decay too much. Then you get to the top and it’s empty. Yes you can build on there but is it really worth that effort to go back up afterwards? And the little cave you can explore is pointless to me. What happened to the what they did for basegame in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs where going in those holes (tree or mine) actually took you somewhere? Either way I don’t think I’ll be risking my sims life for mountain climbing in this pack.
All those deco buildings that you can’t do anything with! So boring. So lifeless. Why are they so afraid of rabbit holes? Yes we can build our own retail stores but why should I have to use my empty lots on putting down a bunch of stores (unless I want to) when they could just include rabbit holes on those deco buildings? Seriously they could do this in every world like sims 3 (yes I know you put those on lots but you could also really customize worlds in that game so it’s different to me). Grocery store, gardening shop, clothes shop, etc. Plopsy has a randomized item list so I don’t see why they couldn’t also do that with these hypothetical rabbit holes too (different seeds, flowers, fresh produce, etc). Enough with all those boring swag stalls all over the place. Food stalls can stay. And anyway, I really miss souvenirs from sims 2/sims 3 can they please bring that back?!?
And you can’t use the train?!?! So lame. Seriously just...why focus on it so much in the trailer. That whole welcome wagon at the train station was just scripted junk. AND NO SIMSTAGRAM updates which stinks. Cute editing but would have been nice to make it a feature. Seriously if modders can (and do) add their own useable social media apps why can’t the sims just add more to the one they already have? They just teased us (probably unintentionally cause they just seem so oblivious sometimes).
Uniforms are cute but I really wish they added back private schools like the other games. The world specific addons really bother me because all these packs lately just seem to only be tied to whatever new world got added and it literally does nothing to build on basegame and if I’m not in that world I honestly forget what I even bought the packs for. I’m absolutely all for adding special cultural and world specific things in packs but they could AT LEAST also add other gameplay things that affect just basic gameplay. Make it worth the $40.
This was super long but I have a lot of feelings about sims 4 expansions as we’ve been through a lot of them and are usually left wanting. I am NOT looking forward to these updates breaking my mods but I will buy the pack because there are things about it I think I’ll really enjoy. Worth $40 though? Eh I don’t think so but that’s EA for you. If you actually read this thanks!

Get to know my play style tag
I was tagged by @cantseemtohide Thank you :D I had a lot of fun doing this one ^.^
FAMILY SIZE AT THE START: Usually 1-3 sims (either just a single sim with or without a pet, a couple with or without a pet)
LIFESPAN OF MY SIMS: Depends! For my legacy saves I play on normal but I have some saves with long life spans. Sometimes I even play with aging off depending on what I’m up to.
FAVORITE FAMILY I HAVE PLAYED: Ahh I love all my families Q.Q HOW DO I CHOOSE JUST ONE? I mean I loved the sim I completed the 100baby challenge with in Sims3. I also obviously love the Peanuts. I really can’t choose though I get way too attached to all my babies.
AM I A MALEVOLENT OR BENEVOLENT GOD: Depends on how the dice rolls really. I pretty much use a legacy roller and take it from there. Sometimes it rolls in their favor other times it doesn’t. I guess that kind of makes me a chaotic god letting my sims suffer or live a good life based off chance.
WHAT I LIKE BEST ABOUT THE CURRENT VERSION OF SIMS I PLAY: I’m currently playing Sims4 and Sims2. I’ll do stuff for both I guess. - Sims4: graphics :). I also really like the expansion packs as of late, I like how a lot of them have kind of core systems that you can build upon. I think this sort of stuff is really important in a sandbox game. I also really appreciate the CAS and build items the team has been giving us lately. In older versions of the sims I don’t think I could play vanilla but I think EA has been on point with a lot of the designs lately. Sims2: Nostalgic value XD. Gameplay wise though most likely the humor in all the interactions. A lot of the stuff that happens in sims2 seems to have just a hint of dark humor and it amuses me greatly. I also appreciate all the stuff there is to do, I feel like it truly is a random game and I’m always finding things I didn’t know existed.
WHAT AM I MOST ANTICIPATING FOR THE CURRENT VERSION OF SIMS: What a loaded question! Gosh I could rant about that for ages. Let’s do dot points.
I’m super excited for Island Living.
MERMAIDS
TROPICAL ISLAND
Witches (and pretty much any supernatural life state)
Story progression. Please don’t make me progress my townies lives. Let them live their lives and birth many children without my interaction. Please. Even if its optional for people who can’t handle the lag or don’t want it.
Living off the land style of pack (aka what eco living should have been instead of laundry. Yes I’m still bitter lmao.)
extra trait slots! Even if we had to do something to earn them like we did in previous versions (i.e. pass university or join a certain influence etc.)
World selection UI overhaul. Please sort it A-Z instead of chronological based of pack release. I’d love it list still with words instead of pictures. I am not a visual person. I need words and order.
Review on teens. Teens are just mini adults. Change that.
I’d really like to see the part time jobs enhanced (and enabled for all ages)
after school activities that felt more like jobs.
Review on elders.
give me a bingo club?
travel groups?
fun stuff for my elders to do instead of waiting to die
Bring that spinning machine from Sims2 into Sims4. You know the one I always post screenshots of lmao.
A family tree UI that doesn’t potato when you have lots of sims. My big family trees always look like a hot mess and only show a couple generations.
A hobbies pack that has like dancing, sports, crafts and similar kind of things. I would prefer this over a teen overhaul because it’d most likely help with the teens.
More story packs >:D Similar to strangerville or sims3 world adventures.
Zodiac signs
I’m going to stop ranting now, I’m sure I could think of more though. I’m usually pretty happy with the packs EA releases quality wise. There is more kind of core features and UI changes I’m after.

LGR - The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting Stuff Review
Tumblr media
[EDIT] Just to drive home how creatively BANKRUPT EA is, after a 30-minute google search I compiled these inspo collages of knitting, crochet & lace works done RIGHT -- you’re welcome.
Tumblr media
(High-res here)
Tumblr media
(High-res)
MY THOUGHTS RANT ALERT (below the cut):
Me: Omg the first draft of my thesis is due in LITERAL hours, and I DO NOT have time for distractions.
Also me: CURSE you, LGR!
Okay, so it’s a known fact that EA’s been nickel and dime-ing TS4 HARD for the past....oh....EVER. LGR’s been done with TS4 and especially its Stuff Packs since their inception, and he’s right: this is ridiculous.
Think back to the TS3 Store’s premium content. Compared to TS4′s $10 Stuff Pack, for 545 simpoints ($6) we got the Toy Machine, which can be purchased with or separately from Midnight Hollow (one of TS3′s best worlds). Though of course thematically & functionally different, essentially the Toy Machine and TS4′s knitting do the same thing: make kitschy crap and toys.
Tumblr media
Then we have the Prism Art Studio venue, a 1900 simpoint ($20) bundle. Along with an entire premade lot, new easel, and the return of the legendary L-shaped stairs thank the LLAMAS, the venue included the Glass Blowing Machine, which makes A TON of stylish new accessory jewellery for CAS.
Tumblr media
Yes, because the Glass Blowing and Venue are lumped into one, this is more expensive than a Stuff Pack, but the value’s in the amount & quality of content.
Also yes, EA’s been piece-mealing us since jump street, but at least they gave us more for our money! Ts3 regularly got new WORLDS, LOTS, VENUES, and PREMIUM CONTENT at the Store, ON TOP of the TWO EPs & TWO SPs we got EVERY year.
Then we have this tiny AF Knitting Stuff Pack. Which came on the heels of a random AF eco living EP that added candle making of all things to their dystopian apocalyptic garbage dump (even though the modders had already beaten EA to the punch on that 2 years ago, just saying, LOLZ).
Tumblr media
I mean, come the eff on, @greenplumbboblover created this entire Sewing Machine mod for FREE!
Tumblr media
Granted, this SP has some adorable content in it. Knitting is one of the things I’ve always wanted, especially for Elders, to give sims more things TO DO other than party, flirt, and woohoo. But as that Youtube comment I screencapped above said so plainly: knitting should’ve been part of a Hobbies EP.
What TS4 DESPERATELY needs is more interesting expansions. The overall  batch of them have been freaking sad. Seasons is the only one that truly fulfills its purpose in EXPANDING CORE GAMEPLAY; making the sandbox grow, not shrink, through crap like locked off content in CAS (a modder will inevitably unlock them, but still).
A handful of sweaters & beanies any CAS CC creator could make for free (and better), and some toys? o_O For TEN DOLLARS!? O_O
And the rocking chair, ZOMG the rocking chair~~~! That in TS3 was included in AN EXPANSION (my fave, Supernatural) as an AFTERTHOUGHT, cuz it’s just a EFFING CHAIR that happens to rock back and forward--WOW, the space-time continuum just got REKT. Meanwhile in TS4 there was an entire deep dive on a frikkin chair!? Is the level of bare bones been there done that so obsolete that THIS is what the community has to get hyped for nowadays!?
Tumblr media
I’m weak, I need to sit down.
Tumblr media
EA. WTF are y’all doing? Other than ripping people off, of course.
Knitting is super cute, and this content looks great, but no way in EFF should this have been sold separately. This should be in a pack, or even better, a free patch. Buy this on SALE, if you must buy it all.

My Honest Opinions So Far on Sims Mobile [A Positive Takeaway]
So Sims Mobile released (mostly) worldwide yesterday and I and a lot of others were texted about it this morning. I just want to start out with saying that I grew up playing the Sims from the first game at about six (I’m almost 23 now) and I adore the franchise. Believe me, I know it and EA are not perfect. However, I actually have really really enjoyed playing this new game so far. Also, my friend code is ADVKRUU if anyone wants to add me I still have 30 open slots.
I want to start with the positives. I love how the game looks and feels. I’m giving Freeplay another shot and ironically redownloaded it about the time this new Sims game dropped. With Freeplay, I really struggle getting past how the sims look and I really don’t like how to unlock marriage and babies and basically any additional perk in the game, there’s quests that time out and if you don’t have what you need to extend them and don’t want to pay actual money, you just don’t get that aspect of the game. The first time I tried and quit Freeplay back in about 2014 was because my toddler quest timed out and I just can NOT play Sims without toddlers. It’s one of my favorite age groups. Anyway, I’m getting away from the point. With the Sims mobile the first thing I noticed and the first enormous positive is that marriage and age groups are unlocked by level and if you keep playing the game and play pretty regularly throughout your day, you hit those levels very quickly and can begin the game married and with children pretty quickly if that’s what you want to do.
A lot of people on the Sims mobile forum on EA’s site who played the soft release were complaining about their not being need bars anymore. Honestly, I don’t miss this AT ALL. I prefer the Sims being able to use their bed, shower, and toilet once a day to get more energy. Another downfall of freeplay was that after you played the game a while and your sims needs deteriorated, you spent most of the day getting them back to white if you didn’t have lifepoints or cake or whatever the microtransaction advantage was. A lot of people have also been complaining about the new tasks during careers, hobbies, and relationship events. I don’t think these individuals realize that when your sims has energy and you take the time to tap them along, each little task within the event only takes five seconds and they can finish it much faster with your help. Speaking of, I love the way the Sims mobile notifies you when your sim’s energy is full—they say they could do it better with you and as someone with depression and anxiety, it’s really encouraging. I know it’s just a game, but I like the way the app provides a sense of your sims needing you. Energy refills fairly quickly, too. I’m an online student and a mother and frequently am looking after my niece and nephew, so I haven’t noticed exactly how long it takes to fully refill, but when I need a break from a paper or get some time between taking care of the littles, I have really enjoyed being able to just pick up my tablet and give my sims a boost in whatever event they are working on.
Now, of course, there are some negative aspects, but I just want to preface these by stating that I’m hopeful they will change. The team was really receptive to those who spoke up during the soft release and though I’m not naive enough to believe they’ll read this specific post or anything, I’m hopeful if enough are outspoken and honest with their thoughts on the app, it will only improve. First off, I do agree wholeheartedly with the complaints on the object packs in the store. I know any mobile game is going to have microtransactions and was not at all surprised to see the cupcakes and simcash having a place in the store, but they are available to earn at a smaller pace as you play the game and I intend to just do that and not pay anything towards them. The object packs, however, are ridiculous. I don’t know anyone in their right mind who would pay $90 for a bedroom set in a mobile game. This is the highest one and the others I believe are closer to $10 but even then. I’m not paying the amount of a game pack for five items within the game. The cost of these is way too high. Say what you want, but if I’m going to pay cash for a mobile game, I want to feel it’s worth it and two couches and a rug and lamp are not worth $10 in my game.
I also really don’t like that we aren’t able to customize or dress toddlers, children, and unplayed adults in the household. I’m hoping the team is already working on adding this into the app. I also am a bit confused about the sim slots. I think I’m about level 18 now and I still only have 2 adult sims slots. 2 of my household children have aged up to adults and the ability to promote them within the family photo screen is greyed out. The only way it looks like I can get a third and fourth slot is to pay like 170 simcash and I only have about 80. The smallest simcash microtransaction is $5 for like 400 or something. I would have honestly paid $1 or $2 for 100 or 200 to get the slot, and that is not currently an option. The third slot may still unlock at a higher level, but regardless, it’s driving me nuts that I can’t customize any of the sims I’m not playing and I’m not ready to retire the first couple in my generation yet.
All in all, I love the game and I’m hopeful the team working on the app will continue to see what the community thinks and make changes and add content as they feel is best for the game and what we want. I’m very optimistic and I wish people who downloaded it and played it for only a day would just give it an actual chance.
