well, thanks to the New Fixation, so far i've got Three New OCs to add to the pile...

gonna ramble under a cut!

So far i've got:

Jude! Jude is my Amir boy. He's a big, burly quiet sort, sad eyes, keeps to himself. Metalhead, ofc, bc I Know What I Like. I think he's a mechanic or smthn? He's definitely the type to work with his hands. He likes music too, and he plays guitar, but never really in front of people. He shy 😔

Does not have a great relationship with his family, or many friends either. He's the youngest of three, and has two older brothers. Probably in his early to mid-thirties?

NEXT UP is Fritz! Fritz is a really buttoned-up, straightforward, no-nonsense type... on paper. He plays straight-edge on TV, but under his office job professional demeanor and crisp business casual attire? Tattoos and piercings galore. He's not quite as wild as he was when he was in his teens/early 20s, but he still likes to unwind in a more high-energy fashion that most people would expect.

...He is very much Enjoying A Chaotic Catboy's Company as a Consummate Mori-kisser. Many would say he has bad taste in men, but i think his taste is impeccable and he just likes to have a good time 😤He's also bossy enough to handle himself just fine

AND FINALLY! <3 Larimar. He is so, so, so, so pretty. Unfortunately, he is very aware of this and uses it to get away with Gremlin Behavior. Aging Punk with Peter Pan syndrome, and delights in the trans man curse of looking younger than he actually is. i do very much like the idea of baby butch lesbian pidge. or futch or however we wanna diagnose what she’s got going on in canon. but i’ve always seen her having a love/hate relationship with her femininity

when she first came out as trans she was veeery little and flocked to femininity like coming home. it was so easy to put on dresses and grow out her hair and play with girl toys. she wanted to!! and katie rolls off the tongue much easier than any other name, but her annoying brother still calls her that old nickname sometimes :/

(but it’s fine. it was pidge from pigeon. it was her first word. for some reason.)

and when she decides to sneak into the garrison detransitioning for the time being made sense. they’re looking out for a girl. with long hair. it’s the best plan she’s got. it’s for her family she can do it. she can do it she can just pick up the scissors… and…

pidge keeps his head down. doesn’t talk much, even to the two (other) guys he’s grouped with. doesn’t talk to them even as they all get launched into space with two more men. just five boys in a giant lion. guys night, right?

but soon enough it gets clear this isn’t temporary. this is real. they’re in this together. they have to mind meld and get along and be on the same wavelength twenty four fucking seven. pidge has to come clean.

so she does. she’s a girl. the name has grown on her but she’s a girl she’s she.

and the team accepts it. loves her regardless. hell, even saw through her botched haircut.

so… yay. she’s a girl and they know. but would they be okay with her being… girly? she’s missed the dresses and the hair and pretty flowers. yeah allura is all those things and they all like her just fine but would it be weird if pidge just suddenly gets girly? she likes the masc look too but damn she misses heels sometimes. she hates having to deal with her shortness

one day allura weasels all of this out of her and allura doesn’t take no for an answer. so pidge is dolled up in one of allura’s best dresses, face beat to the gods, hair done in the girliest style they can manage with her… whole situation. and she’s beaming at her reflection

then allura drags her to dinner, hiking up the skirt so she doesn’t trip over herself as she gets into her seat. pidge toughens up and waits for the laughs to hit her. for someone to assume pidge got roped into this and secretly hates it. the “uhh… who are you and what have you done with pidge?”

but none of that happens. shiro says she looks nice. keith likes the hair. hunk likes the dress. lance demands to get dolled up next.

if anyone notices pidge’s immovable smile for the rest of dinner, they don’t comment on it. and they don’t bat an eye when skirts and dresses make their way into the rotation of pidge’s outfits right alongside her pants and overalls

Oh! Yes I do!

I tend to become self conscious about my own ocs, and because of this I don't share a lot about them due to my...anxiety? LMAO /lh

I have three, but for now I'm just going to share two (I don't really have art of the third yet so that'll wait) I have an OC and I have a Sona/"Self Insert"!

I've posted about my OC, Cricket, before. She also gets called Pigeon/Pidge. Her ref is outdated but the other illustrations are pretty accurate still.

Pidge is a 27, Cis, & Bisexual. She's 5'0, and weighs 110lbs. She grew up in Seattle to a deadbeat dad and an overbearing mother. Eventually in her teen years, her parents split and she moved to San Francisco with her father, who inflicted a lot of bad shit upon her before she packed up and moved out on her own. She lived alone perusing modeling & photography before she was Got after a party in the city.

Waking up, she found herself in an auction room. Derek buys her, takes her to the hunt. I have kind of a few 'versions' of how the hunt goes for her, some ending in possession or sacrifice, or just death, but the main one is she stabs Derek but doesn't have the guts to kill him, so he takes her home and she basically becomes his lap dog via repeated abuse and torture.

I'm not sure what parts of her 'story' I should expound on and what parts I should sum up quickly, haha.

Personality wise, she's very dry, doesn't smile much. She got a lot of shit for being an ice queen growing up, and tends to come across apathetic, even when she isn't. Very sarcastic and can seem catty, but usually is trying to cover her own ass. She has a huge soft spot for other girls, especially fem folks who are in trouble, and will often put herself in danger to help others who are vulnerable/in danger.

She is afraid of her own capacity for attachment, which is why she refuses to let herself attach to anyone. This provided a lack of support in community around her, and made her a better target for kidnapping, since no one would notice her gone or take much action if they did.

In reality, she is desperate for connections and keeps herself from interacting intimately with anyone due to her fear of becoming over attached. This really blossoms later as hee Stockholm Syndrome with Derek kind of...Happens. Haha

Eventually Derek rubs off on her and she gets into some trouble, and starts killing at the hunts that Derek drags her to. You can also imagine she gets used a lot by the whole hunt lmao

Then we have Kade/Juju. This is my "Self Insert". I haven't posted about him much yet, I have been redoing his reference 100 times it feels like, and this is what I have at the moment.

Kade is 28, He/Him trans masc, and mlm. He's an American Red Fox, and grew up on the dense forests of the west coast. His family is estranged, and he ran off to the cities after he was of age to go to school for Botany.

His schooling and thirst for Travel causes him to move North, where while he's attending school he runs into a Specific German at the bar.

He's a quiet dude, kinda nervous, and has very big "Homeschooled by a forest ranger" energy. Loves to infodump about animals, bugs, plants, you name it. Pretty decent survival skills, which also lends to him being a bit of a slippery captive.

I eventually want to put him in a situation with both Lawrence and Mason also, but I haven't been able to sit down and Think in a hot second. If he ends up in Strade's house, he either gets killed for attacking Ren or also gets pet-ified. In that instance, I really like the visual of Strade just having this duo of Fox pets that are constantly horny but also kind of at each others necks a lot (Male foxes have no chill around other male foxes)

I'm starting to get lost in the sauce here so I'll leave it there and if anyone wants to know more, I'd love to answer whatever curiosities may plague you!

Paladin redesigns

So... my friend @adaphyl and I have been working on a Voltron rewrite because canon Voltron? Eughdghf god awful, we all know. But it's ok, it's not real it can't hurt us.

We've been working through the cast and redesigning characters. I'm posting the paladin redesigns first just because my Altean redesigns need a bit more explanation... there's a lot of lore and I just don't got it in me rn.

I say these are the paladin redesigns but I did also include Keith's dad for reasons, we called him Jim. Anyways here are my redesigns as well as some notes on our rewrites of the characters (I will go more into this at a later date, but for now just some important notes).

Keith:

He's trans ftm, wears a binder. He needs to be wrestled out of said binder because he will wear it for too long. He is on hrt but has been off of it for a while cause space.

Keith is itty bitty, we made him 5'5.

He has more non-human features, the stripes on his arms are Galran markings, as well as the "freckles" on his face. He does get more Galran features in the future (will be in a future post).

Shiro's son.

He's autistic because I say so (I'm projecting but also honestly none of them are neurotypical lets be real).

Lance:

Lance is amab and nonbinary, goes by he/they.

Fuckboy with a heart of gold but like... genuinely. He comes off as a fuckboy to many people but he truly is just a silly little guy. Canon Lance but far better.

He's average height, 5'10.

He wears friendship bracelets made by his nieces and nephews, and always has hair ties on him for anyone who needs one. The anklet is from his mother.

Shark tooth necklace is because it's his favorite animal (and because sharks are MY favorite and I'm projecting).

Pidge:

Transmasc genderfluid, uses they/them pronouns primarily but is fine with any.

Pidge is still the shortest, around 4'11 iirc.

Pidge is aroace because I say so, romance and sex repulsed they do not give a shit about any of it.

Their hoodie was originally Matt's, they stole it in order to sneak into the Garrison and decided to just keep it. Pidge misses their brother.

Pidge wears a binder and is very good about not wearing it for too long. They set a timer for how long they should wear it and will take it off as soon as they can, as well as set reminders for break days. They are on top of this shit.

Hunk:

Hunk has tattoos (not pictured, we're working on designing them). We wanted to really represent Hunk's culture and because he's Samoan we wanted to give him some traditional Samoan tattoos as a treat.

He's everyone's bestie/big brother actually and I love him can you tell I love him?

iirc he's around 6'0 tall.

Paints his nails the voltron colors, one finger for each member. His thumbs are painted yellow so he can point to himself.

Shiro:

Shiro is a trans man, he has had top surgery and is also on hrt.

Shiro is Keith's stepdad... kind of. Kind of stepdad kind of adopted dad. Simply dad.

Shiro is also around 6'0, shorter by Hunk by an inch.

Oh he also has a tongue piercing hehe haha.

Jim (Keith's bio dad):

Jim is Jim.

No but really, he was in fact a firefighter, we are keeping that. He dies in a fire and Keith now wears his dog tag.

He may have held hands with Shiro at some point :3c

There isn't much to say about him (I simply don't remember everything) but just know I love him.

hoo boy am i glad you asked. although i’m gonna be real, my issue is less with fandom characterization, because you do you i don’t give a shit, and more with how people go batty if you personally are not a fan of fanon characterizations.

like, lemme be obvious and talk about my biggest example. i am a brown eyed lance truther. we know this. the amount of weirdo comments, weirdo DMs, and weirdo asks i get is atrocious. i post a lot of them bc they’re so stupid they’re funny but the amount of people per week that tell me to kill myself is lowkey wild. the amount of people that love to say some variation of “i liked your fic but you ruined it by making lances eyes brown! his eyes are blue!” and i’ve checked other brown eyed truther’s fics — either they delete their comments better than me, or they do not get the same thing. idk what the deal is lol.

i will concede to the point that i’m a contrarian and annoying about it, but a list of the following non-fanon headcanons/characterizations i hold that have been commented on in some derisive way:

**the allura hate is ridiculous and largely rooted in anti-Blackness. it should not be a fight to say that she had a reason to feel betrayed by keith’s heritage, that she did not “get in the way” of klance, that her death was stupid and ridiculous, that she is often pushed over in favour of klance (not as in she’s less popular, but that her/her death are used as a plot device to further klance), and that she is as interesting, nuanced, and multifaceted as the rest of them.

***people, inevitably, feminize characters in fandoms (largely because many people in fandom are young women, i know i feminize characters simply bc i’m making them like me and i’m feminine lol), and my issue is that people (in the general sense, not everybody) love to feminize keith and then get really mad if anyone else is feminized. this is not about fem or trans woman keith btw. this is about people omega-ifying him and then losing their MINDS if i don’t share that headcanon.

****i literally only wrote this once and then never again because people lost their minds. but as much as i love bi lance, i think it’s interesting that usually, when we see “boy crazy” or “girl crazy” characters, especially if they have a lot of chemistry or homoerotic tension with a same-gender character, people are like oh ya that’s comphetting. that character is desperately trying to outrun the gay thoughts. but with lance, who was definitely girl crazy and cared more about having a girlfriend than actually dating and falling in love (think “mrs blue lion” — he didn’t give a fuck about who he was marrying, so long that it was a girl), calling him gay will have people saying you’re erasing bisexuality. as if he was not fucking straight in the show. so.

Keith opens the door in his binder, thinking that it's Shiro but it's Lance who immediately starts freaking out at the glimpse of bare midriff at the bottom of Keith's binder. By glimpse, I mean that Keith immediately closed the door and put on a shirt.

So I wasn’t sure if you wanted me to continue on from the other two I wrote or do a stand alone. So I’m writing this as a stand alone.

Authors Note:

This is based off something that happened to me once lol

Keith ran his hand through his hair, trying to brush out the tangles that formed during training.

There was a knock on his door and he made his way over to open it. Shiro said he was going to stop by after they cleaned up. They had been watching some Altean show together that they were both surprisingly intrigued by.

He opened the door, not really looking at the person on the other side; after all, he was expecting Shiro. Not Lance.

“I uh-sorry!” Lance stammered out and Keith quickly understood the position he was in. He was standing in baggy black sweatpants and his black half-tank binder.

Keith quickly slammed the door shut, grabbing the first shirt he touched in his closet.

He reopened the door after he slide it on, Lance still standing in the same spot. "...can I help you?" Keith was a bit surprised about how nonchalant he was. He hadn't told anyone on the team except Shiro, who knew before Kerberos, and Coran who helped him copy his testosterone prescription.

Maybe he was tired of hiding it, maybe he knew that the rest of the team wouldn't care; especially after Pidge came out.

Lance still looked like he saw a ghost or something terrible. "I uhhh.....sorry I don't mean to interrupt you changing or anything."

Keith blinked at him, "...okay?" He still didn't know what Lance wanted.

Lance looked at him a bit longer, clearly debating the next words he said.

Keith braced himself, preparing for the 'are you trans' question or some overwhelming support he didn't really need. He was confident in himself, he didn't need someone telling him he was a real man, even if they meant well.

"You wear a cropped undershirt? Is your jacket not enough?" Lance asked.

Keith felt his face scrunch up in confusion, that wasn't what he expected Lance to say. "What?"

"Your undershirt. It's seriously cropped? That's an interesting fashion choice."

"You're seriously judging my fashion choices?" Keith found himself playing along; pushing his confusion to the side.

"It's a weird choice!"

"What's going on?" Shiro appeared beside Lance, wearing his own comfortable clothes.

Lance looked at their leader, "Keith wears a cropped undershirt."

Shiro made his own face of confusion, sending Keith a panicked glance before looking back at Lance. "He does?"

"Yes! I just saw it, and then he put a shirt on. It's weird right?!" He looked at his leader with pleading eyes. Needing someone to side with him.

"We all have our different styles were prefer."

Lance rolled his eyes, "whatever."

"What did you need?" Keith finally spoke up.

"Oh...yeah so I was wondering..." he looked at Shiro. "You know, I'll catch you later. Have fun watching your sitcom!"

Keith and Shiro watched Lance bolt down the hallway, completely bypassing his own room.

“What did he want?” Shiro asked as he entered Keith’s room.

Keith let the door slide close, “I have no idea.”

Shiro chuckled slightly as he took his normal spot on Keith’s bed. “He thought your binder was a cropped undershirt.”

Keith chuckled some, “I would have been okay if he figured it out.”

Shiro nodded, “maybe he wanted to ask you on a date,” he wiggled his eyebrows at the other boy.

Keith threw a pillow at him, “shut up!”

i'm aware fandom has always been filled with intense arguments and was never a happy fluffy paradise, but there was etiquette that just feels like it has disappeared. people have really abandoned those unspoken rules of fandom in favour of petty drama and it's extremely frustrating.

if you want some silly drama read a ku erotica book or watch a soap opera. why would you actively engage in fandom content just to make people angry? the worst part is they tag wrong on purpose because it's not about loving x inflammatory ship or x inflammatory character, it's just about pissing people off.

and it's deeply obvious who does this because they may think they're being subtle but there is a frankly embarrassing amount of "oh i don't care about your opinion! look how much i don't care! (but i'm gonna refresh my blog every ten seconds until i see an angry comment or reblog)" energy coming from these posts.

not to sound like an old fart, but i miss the old days where the biggest drama in fandoms were ship wars that were frankly easy to avoid by blocking tags and wether or not pidge from voltron was trans.

✨️ Sapphics in Space ✨️

Have some headcanons for this very specific AU that absolutely no one asked for:

All of their names are nicknames that they go by, none of these ladies use their actual names

Keith's name is Akira Kogane, but she started to be called Keith as a joke from the other firefighters in her dad's department, but it kinda just stuck and she secretly liked having a special nickname from the firefighters anyway, even if it was a traditionally male name

Shiro's name is Tatsuo Shirogane, but she and her family are originally from Japan and during kindergarten in America her classmates began to call her Shiro since her name was hard for them to pronounce

Lance's name is Alejandra McClain, but got her nickname from her family when she was younger and always wanted to play soldier or guard. Veronica was the first one to use it and then everyone else started using it, too, and Lance absolutely loved it

Hunk's name is Halia Garrett, and her nickname came from, well, almost everyone. She's always been curvy, but the added on muscles she has gave her her nickname in late middle school

Keith and Lance are adoptive sisters in this AU, where Keith joined the McClain family at 16 after being in foster care since she was 8. Originally, she was there temporarily, but the McClain's adopted her a few months after she'd been in their care

Their one-sided rivalry started in middle school but only got worse after Keith moved in, but settled down after she was adopted and the two actually became friends, but in a I'm-not-going-to-acknowledge-that-I-care-about-you-outloud-but-will-always-protect-you kinda way

Lance teeses Keith about her crush on Shiro, and Keith teeses Lance about her crush on Hunk, and this almost always ends with the closest inanimate object being hurled at each other

Pidge is also cis swapped in this and he and Coran are the only two men on the Castleship and Lord help them, they are terrified

Keith and Acxa are twins, with Acxa being older by about seven minutes. Keith never knew she had a sister, let alone a twin, until she was stranded on a space whale with her long lost mother

Thace and Ulaz are mates, and Regris is their kid. Regris is about five years older than Keith and Acxa, and is their only cousin, as Thace is Krolia's little brother

Kolivan and Antok are in a queer platonic relationship, as Antok is aroace and Kolivan is pan and polyamorus. Kolivan and Krolia end up together and very much in love, eventually getting married

Speaking of, Keith is a lesbian, Shiro is a lesbian, Lance is bi, and Hunk is pan

Hunk as always been a phenomenal baker, as baking is a science, but cooking was something she had to grow into as it's more of an art. With time, practice, and a lot of encouragement from her moms, she became a master chef by the time she was fourteen

The shell on Lance's bracelet was the last shell she grabbed from the beach before her family left Cuba when she was fourteen and moved to the United States for her father's work. She wears that bracelet all of the time, feeling a sense of peace whenever she touches the shell when she's anxious or depressed

Shiro has an older sister named Mayumi, and the two are very close. Their whole family is close, actually, and their parents support both girls when Mayumi comes out as trans and Shiro comes out as a lesbian

Hunk and Lance have been best friends since their freshman year of high school. The two get into a lot of mischief together thanks to Lance, but almost always avoid actually getting into trouble thanks to Hunk

Pidge joined their group when they entered the Garrison and his first thought was "These girls are gonna get me into so much trouble." His second thought was "Lance is crushing so hard, how does Hunk not know??"

Allura absolutely loves to have Girls Nights with the Paladins, where they all get together in her room and have a giant sleepover, complete with blanket forts, unhealthy snacks, teasing, and so much nail painting that Keith is pretty sure she's gotten high on more than one occasion

While Allura is fascinated by Keith and Lance's sisterly relationship, Shiro and Hunk are simply Tired Of The Bickering

Keith is 18; Shiro is 21; Lance is 17; Hunk is 17; Pidge is 16

Shiro and Keith have been best friends since Keith stole Shiro's car and the older bailed her out of Juvie. They got very close while at the Garrison, and Shiro gave Keith her dogtags before leaving for Kerberos. She carries them with her at the bottom of the bags on her hip. There was an unspoken understanding between them that they loved each other, that they wanted to always be together and they cared about each other more than anything, but the time was never right

Shiro and Keith finally start dating while in space after realizing that love doesn't wait for the right time and there's no time like the preasent to let yourself be happy, but Hunk and Lance don't start dating until they get home to Earth because they are, somehow, more awkward about their feelings than Shiro and Keith

Eventually Krolia and Kolivan have a son together and name him Yorak and Keith absolutely adores her baby brother and Shiro absolutely adores seeing Keith with a baby

Kosmo is the bestest teleporting space wolf doggo 💙
