Nobody asked for this but now that we have all the student trailers these are my actual thoughts on the redesigns (since I know we won't get a trailer for the faculty next week and even if they're unlockable/DLC later I don't trust IS to give them a glow up). I'm only talking personal preference here, no deep analysis into what the costumes signify or whatever.
Edelgard: on its own? It's a cute design, and the hair looks pretty nice in spite of how thin the braid looks. Coming from 3H? Uninspired and bland. The red emperor dress had presence, it signified power, it had that Enormous Bitch Who Will Ruin Your Day energy. I'm not sensing any of that here, it's like they wanted to remind us she's 5'2" and likes teddy bears and probably wears floaties to the beach. 6/10, isn't lower because I like red.
Hubert: massive downgrade. They masacred him for the meme potential. 2/10, would hate it less if his original TS design didn't exist and set such a high standard for Hubert swag, but sadly this is the timeline we live in.
Ferdinand: meh. The hair looks fine but his outfit says nothing. 5/10
Linhardt: Gender/10. The clear winner of the Eagles. He's even wearing a nun collar to boot! May as well be wearing that "I really wish I weren't here right now" button and I love that for him. His whole cozy outfit looks like it would be great for naps. I wish him the best.
Caspar: deserved better. I always hated his TS outfit to begin with, but his undercut gave him a cute shonen boy edge. This hairstyle makes him look like all of my male classmates in middle school, and I went to middle school in the 2000's. I can smell the Axe body spray from here. 1/10
Bernadetta: she looks like an onion. 4/10, and only because I like her outfit and color scheme. No, I don't care that "it fits her".
Dorothea: pretty, but doesn't do much for me. 7/10, but overall a downgrade. The braid is sick tho.
Petra: 9/10. It's grown on me. I like that they gave her sandals, and THE BRAIDS ARE BACK!! Braids good.
Dimitri: 7/10, not great, not terrible, always good to see him with both eyes. His original TS look will always be iconic though. Hard to top that honestly.
Dedue: 10/10. They took everything we love about his design and made it better, gave him his earring back, and gave him a BEARD! AND a BRAID! I am a simple human with simple tastes, and I love everything that's going on in here.
Felix: 6/10. No tsundere thigh highs, no poofy sleeves, he's wearing a bump-it. The hair itself isn't terrible but I got so used to the spiky volleyball hair that seeing him in a hairstyle that actually looks normal feels out of character for him. It's fine I guess, but his outfit is missing that wealthy douchebag energy the old one had.
Ashe: cute, very Ashe, a little bit of gender going on. 7/10, nothing much to say here.
Sylvain: 0/10. They didn't even try.
Mercedes: ara ara/10. Absolute perfection. I do admit I miss the hat, but her hair is so gorgeous she doesn't even need it.
Annette: 10/10. The winner of the Lions. It's like she's ready to open up her bakery. I do still have a soft spot for her old timeskip dress but the hair is very much an upgrade. I want to pick her up and put her in my pocket.
Ingrid: 3/10. I just wanted the braid back.
Claude: 8/10, would be higher if he still had a beard. The color scheme is pretty nice.
Hilda: 8/10, love her look but still prefer the original. I'm glad they didn't really change much and kept it very much her.
Lorenz: 8/10, again not much of a change, he's very Lorenz and I'm here for that.
Raphael: 9/10. It just fits him better than his original TS look. He looks ready to go rock climbing with you. He looks like he would host the sickest barbecue ever.
Ignatz: 6/10. Love the hair clips and side swept thing going on, not the biggest fan of everything else.
Lysithea: 7/10. I will not forgive them for taking the veil away, but the outfit overall is cute, it's just not as great as the original. It's just kinda... plain? Yeah, sorry.
Marianne: 9/10. HAIR DOWN!!! That's it. That's literally the only thing I wanted and I got it so I can't complain. Also she still looks very much like a holy woman, but her hair is short enough that we can see her back window... business in the front, party in the back.
Leonie: 7/10. While I'm happy the short hair is back, the actual haircut itself doesn't say much and would have preferred something much closer to her academy hair. Still a cute design overall tho.

Twilight characters as random animals that I think are oddly fitting
(Also yes, I am roasting the animals as well)
Tumblr media
Edward: He would be a Cheetah. Now I know, seems like a cop out just because of his speed but hear me out. Cheetahs are, at face value, pretty cool. They used to be my favorite animal as a child, but then I grew up.
Cheetahs, through no fault of their own, are severely inbred. Now thats mainly because of poaching, but the cheetas anxiety also comes into play. In captivity, cheetahs are usually given emotional support dogs. I will admit it is cute but it negatively affects the population. Excluding one in the wild, cheetas can be to anxious to breed and thats not good for conservation efforts.
Cheetahs can hit up to 80 miles per hour in a couple of seconds. They are designed for fast running and agility. Their claws are similar to that of a dogs for better traction and they have elongated spines for longer strides. They have a thin build, long legs and a long tail for balance.
This has downsides though. Many times after making a kill, it will get stolen for them by larger predators. Thats right, they get absolutely bodied by the other animals. I should probably make these shorter but I'm on a rant now, so I guess this will be semi educational.
Throughout the series, we see Edward over estimated his abilities and value, constantly getting bodied by others. He's essentially a perfect mormon, though thats on S'meyers. He constantly judges others, dehumanizing them to their baser flaws, without doing any self reflecting. Him viewing himself as a monster doesn't really count to me. While he definitely hates himself, the only thing he is truly demonizing is being a vampire.
Tumblr media
Bella: Picking up from Edwards, Bella is a Chocolate Labrador. Yes, she is his therapy dog. I feel like this is really fitting for her. I know Golden retriever would make more sense, as thats the most common breed for service animals. However, I kind of focused on her appearance. Only at first though! I just know that Edward raved about her human qualities and that would pass over as animals as well. Her chocolate eyes and brown fur, very average and boring. Thats essentially Bella. Even Edward wasn't into her until he got a wiff. Labradors a very loyal dogs and while they have more personality than Bella, I just couldn't shake it. Their also very stupid. Ok that's kind of mean, they're not stupid but when it comes to love, then yeah they are stupid.
I used to have a lab, loved him to death, but god he was something else. Very much danger prone, from their own stupidity or their lack of survival instincts. I know that labs are almost aquatic. They love water, swimming, all that jazz. We can just say that bella has a few screws loose in her dna and is just "not like other labs."
Tumblr media
Rosalie: Now she was hard. There are quite a few animals that I think would fit for her. I'll list the other ones, but that one I went with is the Swan. Like Edward, seems a little on the nose, but I have my reasoning.
I was going to pick a predator for her, as she is shown to be very vengeful and viscous. I would have pick some type of cat, most likely a purebred, from a rich family. It could still work, but the swan just speaks to me on this one.
Swan's are known for being beautiful, graceful, and are pictured as the symbol of love. They are also very vain. Edward constantly brings up Rosalies vanity. She was constantly valued for her beauty as a human, so of course that crossed over in the transformation. She was raised to be married into wealth, she was used as a bargaining chip to increase the family's standing.
Rose has a very strong character and makes her opinions known. She's assertive and aggressive at times. She's not afraid to get dirty.
Swans mate for life and like geese, are known for being great parents. I was also going to choose geese as an option for the maternal instincts. I was wary at first because swans can be really aggressive. Like actually, you think geece are bad? Yikes bestie...
I was conflicted because swans are known for drowning dogs and sometimes people. However, I can actually see Rose drowning Bella. It's not that unbelievable lmao.
Tumblr media
Emmett: Now this one is just ironic. I only associate him with bears. Its inevitable, but picking a Grizzly or Black bear is too obvious. So I went a slightly different route...
So I was going to pick the Sun bear just because of looks alone. Like, I'm not exaggerating, it looks like someone wearing a bear costume. I don't think it fits him but I know for a fact that he would dress up as a sun bear and sneak into a zoo to see if anyone would notice. I'll put a pic of it here
Tumblr media
Like look at this thing. I have no words...
Anyway, what I picked was a Sloth Bear. Now Sloth bears are mostly nocturnal, which either way works consider vamps don't sleep. Their diet is also odd but honestly so is the cullens. They're native to the Indian subcontinent, and are known for being aggressive towards humans. Its said that for the most part they're pretty calm, so I think its just fear of humans that make them act aggressively. Honestly, that's a good thing because they are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red list.
They have some similarities with sloths, which is where they get the name. They have long claws and unusual teeth. They are known to hang upside down from tree branches, and is described as having a messy appearance. Honestly, Emmitt has a messy personality. Sorry bestie but you're a lot of work.
Now heres the biggest reason for choosing this bear. Aside from Baloo from the jungle book being a sloth bear, they are known to run fades with Tigers. Honestly, how fucking badass is that!? Now I don't think there are recorded instances of a Sloth bear killing a Tiger, but when push comes to shove, they can hold their own and I find that incredibly impressive.
Tumblr media
Carlisle: This one was somehow the easiest as well as the toughest. I know Owl seems like the obvious choice, and I can see it. However, I believe Carlisle values emotional intelligence as much or if not more than academic intelligence. He is so charismatic and values other's above himself. He might not be as Saint like as Edward thinks, but he does try and I think he genuinely cares about others. For that reason alone, I choose a Elephant.
Elephant's are very social animals and are extremely intelligent. I could rave about them for ages, I love them so much.
Now elephants live in a familial unit and are usually matriarchal. Bulls usually are on the outer edges of the herd or form little groups with other males. Honestly, they're not that bad aside from when their in musk.
In the group of males, the elder ones will teach the younger where to get the best food, water, how to use things as tools, and every other thing that will increase their odds of survival. This is really cute to me tbh, they do this because the females usually choose the older males because they've proved that they are intelligent and strong, that they have survived and will continue to for awhile. Teaching the younger males these things are to make the odds of them getting chosen to mate more likely. The whole unit just reminds me of a father that has to deal with rowdy teens.
Carlisle likes to take in strays, he might not have a herd but he will make one and teach them to thrive. That's how he envisions it anyway. He just has a found family and is trying his best.
Tumblr media
Esme: Now this might seem like an insult, but I promise it's not! This is in no way misogynistic. I love cattle and ever since I took animal science in highschool, I have appreciated these grass puppies like they deserve. Call me Castro because I love cows.
Yup! I chose a Cow for her. Specifically a beef cow. That might sound weird but its because beef cows have higher maternal instinct than dairy cows. I'm thinking Scottish Highland based on vibes alone.
They are nicknamed the Gentle Giants of Scotland. Super maternal and sweet and ugh look how cute they are!
Esme came from a abusive marriage and had just lost her child, she was depressed and desperate. Her changing was, in a way, salvation. She just fits in. She adopts all these strays along with him and will protect them to the death. She might be gentle by nature, but don't fuck with her family. She lost her first one and she isn't going to lose this one.
Tumblr media
Alice: She's an odd one. There are so many possibilities and maybe I'm biased, but I feel like she would be a Crow.
Ok listen, I'm definitely biased but it just feels right. Crows get a bad rap, they are so cool! They are so intelligent and have the ability to actually sit and think about the past, prest, and future. I forget what its called, but this was only seem in humans! Maybe other apes, I can't remember exactly, but either way its awesome. They do live in groups, or murders, and remember people and faces. They remember locations and are able to pass down information through generations. They essentially have their own language! They are able to use tools too!
Alice's story is really sad. When we first meets her, it revolves around the death of her mother and her institutionalized. She was essentially tortured and forgot everything from her past. All she had was the future and even that wasn't constant. Crows a often viewed as omens, they are associated with death. I personally believe that instead of being the cause, they just know something is going to happen. They are very inquisitive and can be creative.
If you befriend a murder of crows, sometimes, depends or the group, they will bring gifts. Its can range from food to shiny metals and colorful plastic. Hell, I think I've seen a post of one stealing things from people just to gift it to their human.
Alice's love language is gifts. Even if they are focused around fashion, she still goes out of her way to get something that will look good and at least be a little comfortable. By that I mean she tends to forget peoples comfort zones, but she means well.
Tumblr media
Jasper: Honestly not to sure what to put for him. I know a predator would be more fitting, but for some reason I can see a donkey working. I know, seems like I'm clowning on the confederate. Fair, but I'm serious about the donkey thing. Honestly, it would be perfect if it wasn't a herbivore. Porcupine would also work.
Being a predator would make more sense. Given his backstory and his characterization, it wouldn't make sense for him to be a prey animal. Usually I wouldn't count this, but given his gore filled past and trouble with the diet, it seemed fitting.
I see him as a Big Cat. Honestly, vamps in general just give cat vibes. Jasper though especially have some cat like qualities, which originates from hunting and being a soldier.
I specifically see him as a Mountain Lion. Aside from him being blonde, he just has the predatory stealth to him. In midnight sun, we see him use his gift to make the nomads overlook him. He's honestly really powerful.
Mountain lions are known for being stealthy with an air of grace and power to them. They are stong animals. And I mean strong. They can jump 40-45 feet.
They're very elusive and quite. They stalk their prey and tend to attack from behind but don't think they won't hold their ground if need be.
Jasper was changed during the Civil War and forced to fight in the Newborn wars. He was a soldier as a human and as a vampire. He's able to feel and manipulate others emotions. He's covered in scars and is very intimidating.
He still struggles with the diet and honestly I hate how the others handle it. Like they have no room to talk. I don't want to defend the confederate but it just pisses me off. He has to deal with his hunger on top of everyone else's. Like damn, besties always on edge! Everyone doubts him which I don't think helps any.
Also, Mountain lions and Cheetahs can purr!
@aquanova99 I'll do a Volturi one too. That one will be fun lmao

More Souyo headcanons because I sold my soul to the fox guardian to max out their soul link. But like,,, adding more of the friends and the ships I ship with them lol
Yosuke and Yu have their own sets of nightmares, Yu needs skin-on-skin contact like holding a hand or resting his forehead on Yosuke shoulders (Yosuke wears loose shirts so his shoulder is always showing), as where Yosuke just needs grounding words and sometimes to be hold.
Their friends have their own ways of going through all of the things they went through with the murders, tv world, and such.
Though Yosuke's confession went off the plan, Kanji finally building up the courage to ask out Naoto in a cute but painfully awkward way, but none of them has anything on Chie's confession to Yukiko was... Memorable. Chie had lost her ability to speak due to the fears of ruining their friendship (even though everyone who helped her practice said Yukiko actually liked her back and to go for it), became frazzled, yelled she loved steak, ran away, it started to rain, Yukiko chased after her, multiple people in the group slipped on their asses, and then chie did confessed finally in the rain however leaning down for a kiss Yukiko loses balance and both get covered in mud, goes to the inn for everyone to wash up and the next day they all caught a cold except for teddie.
Their sexuality and gender identity (my opinion, if yours is different that's cool please share 🥺)
Yu- Pansexual because of course he didn't see gender, he saw husband material in the trash, and Genderfluid because I don't care that cross dressing moment awakening this part of him and like terrible timing in the middle of a murder cases but gender identities don't come in good timing. Pronouns: he/she/they mostly he and they.
Yosuke: this man is bisexual, first nobody calls their friends partners ironically unless you are not straight and don't bring up cowboy movies into this there are gay cowboy films, v-necks all season long, talks about yu a bit much, headphones, has zero balance, his room being a mess, in mostly all of Yu's dancing scenes and his dance scenes too, your affection, and lastly he rolled up his sleeves. He's a disaster bi and I will die on this hill.
Kanji- pansexual, I know him being straight and liking stuff that normally label you as gay and I got to agree with that like whatever you want, however I love him as pan because it feels right to me.
Naoto- Demisexual, I am a firm believer that Naoto is Demi and when getting to know Kanji they fell in love with him. They are non-binary, pronouns are she/they tho since she/they are not called they as much I'll be referring to them as that because my reasons.
Chie- lesbian. I ain't got to say much, she's totally a lesbian and is in the middle of butch and femme presenting.
Yukiko- also Lesbian, I'm sorry I can't see her liking a guy and like,,, we all saw her's and Chie's shadow scenes and them rescuing each other like,,, not a hetro explanation to be seen.
Rise- graysexual, she felt attracted to Yu but like she could see how much Yu liked Yosuke but little hurt feelings she's fine, beside she doesn't really need any partners as badly as she puts on sometimes her friends and family are more than enough! She's also mtf trans because fuck you I say so let me just have my trans babies!
Teddie uhhh well Teddie is Teddie he doesn't have a sexuality if you are pretty or even handsome he'll flirt with you, also I am sure he has no gender but he present male because it feels right and like he was really comfortable in the cross dressing moment so like he just exist to be a one-of-kind Teddie.
Speaking of Teddie, this man lives with the Dojima's to protect Nanako as a big brother! Yu is very proud of him and grateful for him wanting to protect his little sister/cousin.
Yu, Yosuke, and now Teddie can sing the Junes store theme by heart. It's still Nanako's favorite store and yes she's disappointed in her big bro and Yosuke getting banned for one.
Kanji becomes a fashion designer and he makes his friends wedding attire and clothes for Nanako and send them to her because she deserves cute dresses for her family and damnit she's so cute and when he visits he goes to her and just makes her look even more ADORABLE and send pics of her new outfits to Yu and Dojima and listen okay, these two have been seen crying at their phone because NANAKO IS JUST SO CUTE AND HAPPY AND THEY JUST WANT HER TO PROTECT HER PRECIOUS SMILE AND JUST SHUT UP NANAKO DESERVE TO BE SPOILED AND HAPPINESS FOR YEARS AND YEARS AHHHHH
Yukiko and Chie's cooking has gotten better, Yu are Kanji helped them not make anymore mystery food x again. Yosuke stutters at the utter mentioned of that name.
Yu looks calm, but he's holding back his pure feral rage. He keeps it inside him and then he'll die.
Kanji and Yosuke 🤝 getting bolder around their loves
Yukiko and Yu have thrown movie nights in where they kidnap their friends, use teddie to get through the tv world, and watch movies together and nobody else question it.
Rise came out on her being tran, and Yu became her bodyguard because he saw half the hate by some fans and like she has some already but no he literally placed a hand on her shoulder and said "I want to go with you." and he did went and broke a few knee caps and def met Ryuji and yes in pq2 he def remember Yu because you can't forget someone with a silver bowl cut busting someone knees (Ryuji is trans too btw, because) ((also no knee busting, he wanted to but legally he couldn't... Lol new au delinquent! Yu the true delinquent but yeah he was just there making sure Rise tour was safe so he didn't have to worry about her))
Yu is a mama bear, he calls up everyone ever once in a while and kill not think twice about murdering you if you decided to choose violence towards his friends.
Yu also takes being an uncle seriously, he has Dojima has an uncle he has standards to meet.
Kanji saw Rise new costumes line and he said "these are ugly give me three days" and now he makes her costumes.
Kanji also personally tailors Naoto's clothes because they are still so short-
Naoto gets top surgery, shut up let me self-project here.
Chie also gets top surgery, she loves her chest flat she's more confident and like,,, men shirts,,, a new possiblity.
Yu unironically sings the little mermaid under the sea while cleaning and nobody knows why.
Everyone makes Naoto eat because they just forget to being so deep in a case.
Yosuke and chie 🤝 sleeping in weird and almost uncomfortable looking positions
Yu and Yukiko 🤝mildly worried about their partners.
Kanji reads to Naoto as a thing that relax them and like cuddling with Kanji is like heaven (get it?)
Yukiko has a Halloween type of stuff for the inn's to gain more tourist but like there's three levels of being scared. 1. Very small that won't cause heart attacked, 2. Middle scare, 3. HOLY SHIT level.
Yosuke can draw but like only his friends know this, and like in the crushing years there's a sketch book that is just Yu, everything Yu, and like Chie found it and like impressed but also like felt it because she has written C x Y since like middle school okay.

Things I Want Changed in Fate S02
Better Costumes
Like, seriously, wth happened there? They were dressed awfully, and that's not news. The costumes were like straight out of a 90's teens movies, it was so obvious there was an adult trying do find out what teens used and maybe saw that 90s fashion was trending and thought that was the hype. Costume designer Catherine Adair has been a costume designer in 29 projects, none of them was a teen TV show (except her most recent project, after Fate, which is a disney kids mystery series) and 16 of wich were in the 90s. She has dressed TV shows before Fate but things like Desperate Housewives and The Man in the High Castle- Definitely not even close to the vibe Fate has. Hopefully she'll either do more research or they'll hire another costume designer since she's aparently working on this new Disney series. IMDb says we have a new Art Director in S02 (Justin Warburton-Brown, who apparently done The Witcher S02!!) so my hopes are very high!
New locations and sets!
I loved Alfea and the Winx Suite but I feel like we need more sets. That's not the fault of the art direction or set decoration (which were done by Karl Clifford -who isn't credited for anything but Fate- and Jil Turner who has a very good resume, having worked on Vikings and a lot of other fantasy movies and tv shows), I feel like they did a pretty good job with what they were given. Having the entire season be basically that got very repetitive and because of the number of views I'm hoping they have a bigger budged in S02 to be able to have different sets. I wanna see Magix! The cartoon did a wonderful job with the city near Alrea, it was super cool to see the futuristic town in a fairy show, which was a contrast to what me, as a kid, imagines what a magical town would look like. I don't think they'll to this for Fate but it'd be cool to see like magic being used in day to day lives. Also if Alfea is in the middle of nowhere where do the girls get like stuff? Where do they buy tampons if they need it? I MUST know!! Also it'd be pretty cool to see Solaria sometime. IMDb also told me we got a new set decorator in S02 and he's been the set decorator of Shadow and Bone (Kevin Downey) so I'M EXCITED.
More plot and Backstory for the characters
Let's skip Bloom and Sky because I think @lilshitwayne would do a better job talking about them and then focus on the others.
Aisha
WHERE IS AISHA'S PLOT??? They done my girl wrong, so wrong. Seriously, what is her backstory? What are her goals and dreams? What are her insecurities and challenges? What is her personal arc? What is her role in the series arc? I wish I could answer all these questions but I just can't. I saw @lilshitwayne and @rivusa dms about her yesterday and I want to give them the floor to talk about it so I'm not gonna say what they said, but I do want more from Aisha's character next season and I want her role to not be as suporting as she was in S01. I do think that the fact that she's a poc character had to do with her lack of development and I will HATE it if they make her also LGBTQ+ and continue with Netflix's trend of shoving all the minorities into one character. Hopefully because of the backlash they'll listen. Precious is a beautiful and great actress and she deservers better.
Musa
Musa had a pretty big part in S02 I'd say. She was basically the second most important character after Bloom, BUT she did not have a plot, let's be real. Her whole arch was basically "I hate my powers, they are useless and just make me suffer and I try to ignore them" and then she met Sam and was like "Oh he basically feels nothing so it's nice to spend time with him" and then she found out Sam was Terra's brother and wanted to keep their relationship a secret, then she told Terra and there was like too much drama for a non-dramatic revelation. Then she had to face her powers when Sam was dying but then he lived so she went back to being the same as she was but with a boring boyfriend now (I know people like Sam and that's okay because people have different tastes but I just don't see the appeal, okay? he's boring in my opinion). So like her whole development and plot was based around a guy. No internet struggle solved, no character development. Yes Musa is my favorite character but I still don't like her "plot".
Stella and Terra
idk what I'd say about them. I think one of the other girls in the fate fandom might have takes and stuff. Terra had the self-steem and body issues that basically went no where and Stella has mommy issues and issues in general that are probably gonna get more developed already so I'm not too worries about them.
I know people didn't like that they made Stella have a very different personality than the cartoons and (hot take) I kinda like it. Don't @ me. Stella was hella annoying in the cartoons and I like this very messed up Stella we got, yes she's a bitch but she's got layers and I can't wait to see them Explored.
Terra was not a cartoon character and I have no fucking idea why they didn't just put Flora. Flora in the cartoon had also a very different personality so maybe they thought she didn't fit, but then why not keep her and just change the personality like they did with Stella? Also if they had made Terra latina it wouldn't have changed anything in Terra's plot. Idk what happened behind the scenes but that's what we got. I do want Flora to appear and be this cute cinnamon roll but also badass (and latina) so *fingers crossed*
Riven
ah, Riven... He has so much potential and I can't wait to see his character development throughout the series. I can see a lot of troubles at home and internalized homophobia and fuck he's just so god damn Bi. Hopefully that little interaction with Dane about just liking whoever depending on the gender will make Riven be okay with his sexuality and I really like this plot okay?
Also, yes, as a Rivusa shipper I want that to happen and I've already done two huge post about Riven and Rivusa in Fate so if u wanna read more go and do it (here and here).
The rest idgaf about them (I do but i'm too lazy to type)
Future characters
I wanna see Brandon. They call even make Stella bi and change Brandon to like Brenda or something, I've done that in fics and I think that'd be interesting.
Flora, of course, as said above.
Helia if they bring Flora along. They should pair him with Terra, he's Flora's.
I don't wanna see Tecna and Timmy tbh, might be a controversial opinion but I didn't really care for them in the OG and with all the normal technology in Fate I don't really see a reason for them. Unless they change Tecna's powers like they did with Musa, but we don't need another white basic bitch character.
I think that's it!
If yall want to answer and discuss Fate feel free to reblog! I'd love to talk about how we could improve the show!

AN: So the Billy Bibbit story is up for Monday. This is for Tuesday. I’m trying hard to get these out on time but damn I forgot the balance of school and this. Also I know this is out of character for Chucky but it’s insanely cute and I had to write it. I also apologize for the length. Got a little carried away. Enjoy though!
“This is Halloween. This is Halloween. Pumpkins scream in the dead of night.” I quietly sang as I lugged a pumpkin into the apartment I shared with my boyfriend. “Everybody make a scene.” I trailed off and hummed the rest of the song. My boyfriend appeared in the doorway from the bedroom, sleepily brushing his hair out of his face. “Morning Chucky!” I laughed, kissing his cheek as I passed him on the way back out to our car for the rest of the groceries.
“Morning.” He mumbled, reaching past the pumpkin for his cup and filling it with coffee. When I walked back into the kitchen with another pumpkin, Chucky put down his cup and took it from me. He placed it next to the other one. “So I see you’re prepping for Halloween.” Chucky chuckled as he wrapped his arms around me. I giggled and nodded.
“Of course!” Chucky kissed my neck before resting his chin on my shoulder. “And don’t worry, you get to carve one of those.” I reached behind me and tangled my fingers in Chucky’s long hair. He hummed happily before breaking away from me to get the supplies to carve the pumpkins while I put away the other groceries.
“Damn bats.” I chuckled as Chucky walked into the bats I had hung in our living room. “Hang them shorter next ear.” He grumbled as he walked back into the kitchen with the necessary supplies. I nodded and we got to work designing our pumpkins. Out of all the Halloween traditions Chucky and I adhered to, carving pumpkins was the one we took the most serious. When we had finished, we showed each other.
“Yours is going in the back window.” I laughed as Chucky turned his back to face him.
“Come on! Some of the spoiled brats deserve to be frightened to death.” Chucky smiled at me before shrugging. “Come on Disney fan, let’s put them in the windows.” I nodded as Chucky took his to the back window before taking mine to the front window.
“All that is left are our costumes for handing out candy.” I said. “Do you want to go to Spirit Halloween?” Chucky smirked at me. “What? What’s up?” He slowly shook his head and gently took my hand, leading me into our bedroom.
“You know how I got trapped in that Good Guy doll and they made all those movies about it?” He asked, standing in front of the closet.
“Yeah…” I trailed off. “And they replaced me with fucking Tiffany.” Chucky smirked before nodding.
“Well I already went and got our costumes.” Chucky opened the closet and pulled out a set of Good Guy overalls with a colorful striped shirt. He handed them to me and I put them on the bed. I scowled as he pulled out an all white costume with a black leather jacket.
“I hate you Charles.” I grumbled as I took the costume from him and put it on the bed next to his. “I can’t believe you are making me dress like Tiffany.” Chucky also produced a bag which he handed to me.
“You get your payback.” He said as he pulled a bottle of hair dye out of the bag. I started laughing and hugged Chucky to keep my balance. “You get to temporarily dye my hair so I’m a ginger. It’ll wash out by the end of the week.” I leaned up and kissed him.
“That’s the perfect payback.” I smiled at him before dragging him into the bathroom. I made him sit on the toilet seat before opening the hair dye and reading the instructions. Glancing at Chucky, I started to mix the dye. “You sure about this Chucky? It’s for a whole week.” He nodded up at me from his seat on the toilet.
“I’m sure.” He smiled at me. “I need to look perfect for you.” I turned towards him, dye at the ready.
“You look perfect the way you are Charles. You don’t need to become a ginger to be the perfect version of that damn doll.” I said putting a gloved hand on his cheek. Chucky leaned into it.
“Yes I do.” He reiterated. “Now let’s get this done before I back out.” I laughed and applied the dye to his hair. Chucky sat still while I did it before putting his hands on my waist. “So are we taking turns handing out the candy or are we sitting out front like we normally do?” I finished putting the dye in his hair and shrugged.
“Let’s sit out front.” I said. “That way everyone can see our costumes.” Chucky smiled at me before standing up. “Now we wait ten minutes and then you can wash that dye out.”
“Set a timer doll.” Chucky smirked as I went into the kitchen to set the timer. It was starting to get dark out so I lit the candles in the pumpkins while I was there. “What time does trick or treating start?” I followed Chucky’s voice back to the bedroom.
“It starts in two hours.” I called back. “Plenty of time for the dye to set and then for us to get changed.” I walked back into the bedroom and showed him the timer. Chucky nodded and kicked back his feet. The time went by slowly with the two of us talking about everything and nothing at the same time. The timer went off and Chucky went to take a shower to wash out the dye. I busied myself with getting the tags and things off of our costumes.
“We’ll see how it looks.” Chucky said as he came out of the bathroom, towel around his waist and drying his hair with a towel. I looked over at him as he stood in front of a mirror and tossed the towel he used for his hair towards the bed.
“Looks good Chuck.” I said with a smile. He caught my gaze in the mirror and smiled.
“Let’s get dressed. It’s nice enough that we can sit outside for a while before the kids start coming.” He turned towards me with his head cocked and I nodded. We got changed into our costumes and I smiled wide when I saw Chucky in the Good Guy overalls.
“Looking good there Chucky.” I smiled as I played with the straps over his shoulders. He chuckled at my antics. “Do you like to be hugged?” I giggled as I wrapped my arms around him. Chucky rolled his eyes as he returned my hug.
“Only by you doll.” He admitted. I grinned into his shoulder as his hands slid down to my butt. “Only by you.” I jumped as he squeezed.
“Charles!” I exclaimed as I pulled back and swatted at his chest. “Watch it buddy!” Chucky laughed as I moved away from him only to be pulled back against his chest.
“I couldn’t resist.” He whispered in my ear. “You look so much better than she ever could. I’m going to have a hard time keeping my hands off of you tonight.” I sighed as I relaxed against him.
“I look better?” I craned my neck to look at him. Chucky smiled as he nodded. He kissed my cheek before burying his head in the crook of my neck. I gently ran my fingers through his hair as I felt him press a kiss to my shoulder.
“Insanely better.” He pulled me closer and gently swayed with me.
“What’s gotten into you tonight Chucky?” I giggled as I moved with him. “You’re never like this.” I felt his smile against my neck before he pulled away.
“I’m just being sentimental tonight.” I chuckled as I pulled away completely from him. “You think I forgot what tonight is.” He said, disbelief easing into his tone. Opening the closet, I shook my head.
“I know you would never forget it.” I admitted. “For two reasons. First is that it is also the day that you hate the most seeing as it is the night that you transferred your soul.” I pulled out a box from the closet and looked at Chucky from behind the door. “Second, and this one is the most important, it’s the day you asked me out for the first time.” Chucky smiled and made his way over to me.
“So I will always remember dollface.” He closed the closet door and pinned me against it. I giggled as he kissed me before taking the box from my hands. “Now what is this?” he put it on the table before looking at me.
“Just a little present for you.” I walked over and wrapped my arms around him from behind. “Go ahead and open it.” Chucky started tearing into the paper that was wrapped around the box. I looked over his shoulder as the paper went flying to the floor.
“(Y/N)!” Chucky cried. He whirled around and pinned me against the table as I laughed like a maniac. “How dare you!” I picked the box back up and held it against my chest.
“Come on Chucky!” I exclaimed. “He’s cute! And guess what?” Chucky gritted his teeth and stared me down.
“What?” He growled. I took the doll out of the box and hugged him.
“Hi! My name’s Chucky. Wanna play? Hidey ho! Ha ha ha!” the doll said. Chucky scowled at it.
“Get rid of it.” He growled at me. I rolled my eyes.
“Chill out Chucky.” I said as I set the doll on the table. “He’s going to work with me tomorrow and staying there. He’s just here for tonight.” I wrapped my arms around Chucky’s waist and kissed his cheek. “There’s only one Chucky for me.” I nuzzled his cheek as Chucky started to relax in my arms.
“Only one?” He asked, putting his arms loosely around me.
“Only one.” I reassured him. “And he’s right here in my arms right now.” I pulled back and looked at Chucky. He was biting his lip and looking at the doll.
“Just tonight.” Chucky said as he put his finger in my face. “And then he goes to your office tomorrow and he never,” Chucky gently tapped my nose. “Never comes back here.” I squealed and pulled Chucky into a kiss.
“I love you Chucky.” I whispered against his lips.
“Good to know that’s all it takes to earn your love.” He laughed when we broke away. I rolled my eyes at him before he kissed me again. “I love you too (Y/N).” He hugged me close and picked up the doll by the arm. “Now how does he play into our plans for tonight?” I smiled at him. “I’m not transferring my soul back into one of these if that was your plan.” I shook my head.
“Not what I had in mind at all.” I took the doll from him and hugged him gently. “He just has to sit in your lap while we hand out candy.” Chucky cocked his head.
“I thought you were sitting in my lap.” He said. He looked so cute when he was confused.
“Ok then he’ll sit in my lap.” I said as Chucky picked up the candy bowl. He looked at the doll for a second.
“Ok.” He said before taking my hand and leading me outside. Sitting down, Chucky pulled me into his lap and helped me situate the doll so he wouldn’t fall over. Chucky pressed a kiss to the back of my head as the first of the trick or treaters came up to our steps. We handed out candy and many people commented on our costumes and the doll. There were a few teenagers that came to gawk at Chucky but he just indulged them by telling them a couple of things the movies got wrong. By the end of the night, we were running out of candy and when I had gotten up to get more from the kitchen, a little girl dressed up as Chucky in doll form had come up.
“You’re the real Chucky?” I stood in the doorway and noticed the girl’s mother was starting to come up the walkway to stop her. I held up my hand to show the mom that everything was ok. Chucky smiled and nodded at her.
“Yeah. I’m the real Chucky.” He said softly. The girl had climbed the stairs and was standing in front of Chucky. He still towered over her even though he was sitting down but she didn’t seem frightened by him. She took a step closer but nearly tripped on the step. Chucky’s hand shot out to catch her but she caught her balance at the last second.
“Were you really a doll?” She asked him. Chucky nodded again.
“Yep. A Good Guy doll in fact.” Chucky looked next to him and picked up the doll I had put down. “Just like him.” The little girl smiled at Chucky.
“That had to be fun.” She said with a small giggle. Chucky smiled at her again.
“Not really. But it’s more fun to dress up like one now.” The little girl looked back at her mother and she smiled at her daughter. I moved onto the porch a little and watched Chucky continue to interact with the little girl.
“How did you get out?” The little girl was standing on the porch next to Chucky. They were eye level now. Chucky looked at the girl’s mother before looking back at her.
“It’s a long story.” He muttered. “You have a lot of trick or treating to do tonight. You don’t want to hear me tell the story.” The mother shook her head.
“It’s ok Mr. Ray.” She said, startling Chucky. “We live just around the corner. We’re almost done for the night.” Chucky looked at the mother in shock.
“You’re sure?” he said, disbelief on the edge of his voice. I bit my lip, realizing that this was the first time someone was asking him out of pure curiosity rather than morbid delight.
“She’s genuinely interested.” The mother said. “Besides she’s normally really shy around strangers. When she heard it was you that lived here and you were handing out candy, well she practically begged me to bring her here. Don’t ask me why, but she adores you.” Chucky looked at the little girl in shock and she nodded. He smiled shyly at her. He slowly held his hand out to her and she took it.
“I’m Charles Lee Ray.” He gently shook her hand. “But my friends call me Chucky.” The little girl looked at him wide eyed.
“Can I call you Chucky?” She whispered excitedly. Chucky nodded and laughed as the little girl nearly tackled him in a hug. He held her tightly and caught my gaze over the girl’s shoulder. He smiled at me before pulling back from the little girl. “I’m Beverly.”
“I guess it’s story time then Beverly.” He chuckled. “Want to sit in my lap?” The little girl nodded enthusiastically. Chucky let her get settled in his lap before passing her the doll. “You can hold him.” Beverly clutched the doll with one arm while the other held Chucky’s arm tightly. He started to tell the story of how he got out of the doll, censoring parts of it for her. I smiled as I watched the two. When Chucky reached the part about me finding him and bringing him as a doll and bringing him back to the apartment, he turned towards me and made Beverly aware of my presence for the first time.
“You’re really (Y/N/N)?” She exclaimed. I laughed as I sat down next to Chucky and put a hand on her back.
“Yeah. I am.” I smiled at her and held out my hand for her. She shook my hand and looked between Chucky and I. “Nice to meet you Beverly.” She smiled and turned back to Chucky, giving him her full attention while he finished the story. By the end of it, Beverly had her head resting on Chucky’s chest and I was holding the doll. Chucky had his chin resting gently on the top of Beverly’s. I looked over at her mom and smiled.
“(Y/N/N) is really the one who got me out. Not Tiffany. Even though (Y/N/N) is dressed like Tiffany tonight.” Chucky snickered. I gave him a dirty look but Beverly turned towards me and reached out for a hug.
“Thank you for getting Chucky out.” She said as I wrapped my arms around her. I looked at Chucky in shock. No one acknowledged me for my part in anything Chucky did, even before he got trapped in the doll. My eyes welled up as Beverly pulled away.
“It was easy.” I assured her. “Besides, we all need Chucky back in the real world even if some people disagree.” Beverly nodded eagerly. Beverly’s mom took another step towards us as Beverly layed back down on Chucky. I chuckled as Chucky hugged the little girl to him.
“I know none of this has been conventional but would it be too much to ask if I can take a picture of you three?” Beverly’s mom asked. I looked at Chucky and smiled. He smiled back at me before turning towards Beverly’s mom.
“Sure. She might as well have something to remember tonight with.” Chucky slowly moved so he didn’t disturb Beverly too much and I knelt behind him. I wrapped my arms around the two sitting in front of me and rested my chin on the top of Chucky’s head. The doll had gotten tossed back into our apartment. We smiled for the camera and Beverly’s mom took a picture. Then Beverly shocked everyone by kissing Chucky’s cheek. I could see from my vantage point that Chucky’s face had turned red and I could stop myself from laughing. The flash went off on Beverly’s mom’s camera and I just knew that I had to ask her for a copy of that picture. Beverly’s mom smiled at us all.
“As much as I hate to break this up, we need to get you to bed Bevvy.” She said and held out her hand for Beverly to take. Beverly reluctantly got off of Chucky’s lap before making her way halfway down the stairs. She turned around and ran back up the stairs with Chucky leaning forward, ready to catch her in case she tripped. Beverly threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly again.
“Thank you Chucky.” She said before turning away and running back down the stairs to her mother. Chucky abruptly stood up and made his way down the stairs.
“I know how this is going to sound but can I walk her home with you?” Chucky nervously asked. Beverly’s mom looked at him shocked. She turned to look at me and I shrugged as I made the trip down the stairs as well.
“I...I don’t see why not?” Beverly’s mom said as she looked at her daughter jumping up and down excitedly. I shared a look with Chucky and had to bite back my smile as he turned back towards Beverly. He held out his hand for her and she held up her arms. Chucky looked at her mother and she laughed. “That means she wants you to carry her.” Chucky nodded and bent down to pick up Beverly. I smiled as her mother got another picture and I walked up to the two.
“Beverly?” I said sweetly. She turned towards me and looked down at my hand. I held up the biggest candy bar we had. I originally planned on splitting it with Chucky but I was sure he’d agree with me that she deserved it more than we did. “Don’t forget your candy.” I put it in her little pumpkin bucket before handing the bucket to her mom. Beverly’s eyes went wide as she realized that it was for her. I smiled at Chucky when he saw what I had done. He smiled and nodded in agreement.
“Ok. Now you gotta tell me how to get to your house. You think you can do that?” Chucky asked Beverly. She nodded and pointed Chucky in the direction of her house. I smiled and fell into step with Beverly’s mom.
“I’m Sidney by the way.” Her mom held out her hand to me. I laughed and shook her hand.
“I’m (Y/N).” I said. “Everyone calls me (Y/N/N) though. And obviously that’s Charles Lee Ray carrying your daughter.” Sidney laughed and looked over at the two in front of us.
“She really took to him didn’t she?” She said to me. I nodded.
“Well he took to her too.” I told her. Sidney looked over at me. I nodded. “All night teenagers have been coming and basically laughing at him. He doesn’t show it but they get to him. He usually just threatens them and they run off scared.” I shrugged. “There’s something about your daughter that threw him tonight. I don’t know exactly what it is that has him so attached but if I had to guess, it’s how she was genuinely interested in him and not the novelty of him.” Sidney looked at her daughter laughing as she played with Chucky’s hair.
“I’ll admit I felt bad about her running up to him and asking all those questions.” She said, never taking her eyes off the two. Chucky was laughing as he gently put one of the overall straps back on Beverly’s shoulder. “But looking at them now, I think it’s just what they both needed.” I nodded as I watched the two. “Her father died last week.” My eyes shifted back to Sidney.
“I’m sorry for your loss.” I said quickly. I then looked at the two again. “You wouldn’t think it looking at her.” Sidney nodded.
“Not right now.” She agreed. “But she didn’t even want to come out tonight. I made her anyway. Keep some sort of normalcy for her you know? Then she overheard some of the older kids mention Charles Lee Ray’s house and she nearly took off without me. She’s not going to forget this night for a long time.” I smiled.
“I think that makes two of them.” Sidney smiled at me. “If it’s possible, could I get copies of those pictures you took?” I bit my lip. “I’m sure Chucky would love to remember this night too. He’s been through so much and after all of it I’m not sure how he’s going to come out on the other side. He still has one or two more trials and I know he’s going to have a hard time getting through them. This would keep his spirits up enough to at least continue fighting.” Sidney nodded and put her hand on my shoulder.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll get you copies.” I let out a sigh of relief. “I think you’ll need them as much as him if you don’t mind me saying.” I nodded. “Tell you what. You and Chucky are free to visit anytime you want.” I smiled in gratitude. “And I’ll be sure to keep your number handy in case I ever need a babysitter.”
“I think you’re right.” I took one last look at Chucky and Beverly. “Thank you. For everything. I know it means a lot to me but it also means a lot to Chucky even if he won’t say it.” Sidney patted my shoulder and walked up the steps to unlock her door. I watched as Beverly hugged Chucky tightly. He gently put her down and waved as she ran into her house. He stood there until the door closed. I smiled as he turned towards me with a smile on his face. “Have a fun time?” I asked as Chucky drew close. I put my arm around his waist as his fell across my shoulders.
“Aside from the night I asked you out,” Chucky said as he kissed my temple. “Best Halloween ever.” I laughed as we walked home and I filled him in on what Sidney had told me. “Yeah. It was the best Halloween ever.” Chucky said later as we changed out of our costumes and got ready for bed.

Movie Review: My Summer as a Goth
Tumblr media
”If you don’t care what people think, why did you just ask me what I thought?” Overview and Plot My Summer as a Goth is a crowd funded movie directed by Tara Johnson-Medinger. It stars Joey, a morose teen who constantly talks about her dead dad and gets angry when other people talk about her dead dad. Since her mother is a prolific author set to do a book tour, Joey is shipped about 45 minutes out of town to her grandparents' house for the summer. There she becomes interested in the neighbor boy, an even more sullen teen called Victor. Victor notices Joey's interest and whisks her away into the world of goth summer romance. In terms of production, very nice looking film. Professional. I liked that the beginning of the movie looked very washed-out and reflected the mood well, getting warmer as the summer went on. I also loved the texting graphics. The movie was well-paced and a good length, however the passage of time in the movie was a bit odd. VERY soon after the movie says summer starts it’s the Fourth of July, then again only a short time later everyone’s talking about how the summer is almost over. Joey even gets mad at her mother in one instance for not being available in time, but it seems like the mother responded back in about a day while Joey makes it out that it took weeks. The in-movie passage of time was very confusing for me. Most of the characters were well-written with some hiccups mostly on the grandparent’s and Antonio’s end. Costume design was on-point. Sound was fine and the music choices throughout were wonderful. Overall, the film had really good production value.
Moving into spoiler territory, Joey’s grandparents are a ride as they swing from giving Joey hundreds of dollars and baking her pot brownies to telling at her she can’t stay out late and that she needs an exorcism. Antonio, a punk, starts the movie off by getting into a fist fight with Victor, but later becomes a loveable member of the cast. We meet Cob and Pen, the “goth swan couple”. They’re Victor’s friends and a breath of fresh air; despite having morose interests they’re very bubbly and outgoing. I wish more of the movie had them in it. They along with Victor decide to give Joey a makeover and invite her to a few different events over the summer including a silent disco in a graveyard, a party at Pandora’s house, and a concert. They also go on a camping trip with Joey, her grandparents, and one of Joey’s high school friends. Eventually, Joey gets annoyed with Victor’s constant toxic attitude and finds out he’s cheating on her. Everything’s fine in the end as the summer comes to a close and she goes back to school with Antonio as her new boyfriend and her new, darker look.
Joey the babybat has daddy issues. In the beginning Joey feels acts catty and defensive about everything. Don’t worry, she never really grows out of that. Pretty much everything about her revolves around either the fact that her father is dead or her relationship with Victor. She does have an art hobby that’s shown throughout the movie but she seems almost embarrassed by it? It’s never actually brought up by any characters and no one ever looks through her sketchbook or shows interest in it. Which I found really odd because a lot of the goths I know in real life tend to be pretty creative and would love it? Anyway, she falls head-first into goth because of a boy. I know that’s how some people get into the subculture, but it kind-of sours the movie because it seems like she also only stays in the subculture because of the boy. In the beginning she mentions liking the music and how it helps her express how she feels inside, but other than Victor, we really don’t get to see how she thinks about the subculture. She’s friends with Cob and Pen because they’re Victor’s friends. She goes to events because Victor goes. She dresses up because Victor wants her to. But once Victor is out of the picture, why does she stay? Other than the passing mention of music at the beginning, she really has no interest in the goth scene. She’s never shown engaging with the scene on her own terms, and I find that a little disappointing. When I was a babybat I was reading goth blogs like Stripy Tights and Dark Delights, I was trying to get my hands on back issues of Gothic Beauty, I was watching a ton of different youtubers talk about the scene and I just wanted more. There’s none of that with Joey save for a short scene where she watches tutorials on how to do her hair and make-up. (Which, admittedly was really cute.) I didn’t understand WHY Joey stays a goth at the end of the movie and I think it’s because the movie really didn’t portray the positive aspects of the subculture as much. Also, Joey needs to work on her attitude problem. She mentions her dead dad quite a bit at the beginning and gets upset when other people mention it back to her. At the end of the film she calls her mom over heartbreak and when her mom tries to talk about it with her, she acts sarcastic and shuts her mother out, getting mad that she reached out at the wrong time. I’m unsure if it was just Joey going back to her old coping strategies or if she was in the right because I have no idea how much time had passed since the phone call. I’ll never know. Either way, she does dump Victor which is nice and she reconciles with her mother as well. I do like that she feels more comfortable with herself at the end of the movie and begins doing things on her own terms, even if others don’t “get it”. Victor is a VERY well-written, manipulative dick.  Storytime! So, there weren’t many goths at my college and we never really had any classes together, but I remember seeing this one kid walking across the street to the art buildings with a flowing black velvet cape over their backpack, an unlaced black poet shirt, platinum white hair in a side-hawk, knee-high black leather boots and a TON of silver jewelry. Honestly, they would have looked so cool if their harem pants weren’t made of chiffon and completely see-through. (Batman boxers!) Seeing Victor for the first time immediately reminded me of that. Over the top, charming, charismatic and a bit silly. I liked him at first. His wit is dry and in the beginning he didn’t take himself of the subculture TOO seriously, making jokes about vampires. I liked that he seemed to be having fun chatting about music and dressing up Joey. And then there came the lipstick. Honestly, the lipstick was used absolutely perfectly to show how the relationship is souring and how manipulative Victor really is. It really is a gradual showing of how things are going south in their relationship and how Victor isn’t as much as a downcast victim as he puts on. Later on in the movie he starts reminding me of that Bruiser sketch where there’s two goths and one of them is just badgering the other one that he can’t take his sweater off in the summer or join in on seasports because it’s “not goth”. He begins chastising Joey for not looking perfect at all times or not knowing things about the subculture despite the fact that he just dresses her up and brings her to parties instead of actually trying to integrate her to the local scene or teaching her about music or history. Eventually he goes back to hooking up with Pandora, something he apparently does frequently because Joey is not the first person he’s cheated on and literally everyone in town warns Joey about it. Victor clearly has a massively inflated ego and you love to hate him in the end. There are definitely his type in goth scenes around the world and I can see how he stays in good graces with the other asshole friends he has. Some people just really like being elitists. The one thing I can’t figure out, though, is why Pen and Cob are friends with him. They’re so nice compared. A punk by jacket only and why casual homophobia makes me salty. Antonio is... hoo boy, is he a thing. First introduced starting a fight with Victor you think, "Ah, this is the antagonist of the movie. I wonder why they made the punk an asshole? Usually punks are okay with goths." Luckily for us, he apologizes for the outburst and becomes a friend of the main cast. We learn he likes canasta and plays guitar. Oddly, he doesn't seem to have any punk patches or pins on his jacket and never actually mentions punk music. He does, however, mention goth music and he seems familiar with the other goths in town going to their events, so it seems he's on good standing with them despite bullying the goths at the beginning of the film. Seeing as goths would rather pretend to be haughty vampires than get their tail coats in a twist, Antonio makes for a heroic figure in the movie when Joey is in trouble. In my notes I wrote, "Ten bucks says punk kid is gonna save her,” and lo and behold, Antonio comes out of nowhere to save Joey from some bullies. I do like that he uses his rough appearance to his advantage to help people and do the right thing. That pretty accurately describes every punk I’ve ever met. They look tough as nails, but you’ll only see that side of them if you absolutely deserve to.
It's also revealed that Antonio is not straight as he's seen making out with some guy at a concert, mentions having had a previous relationship with Victor, and is being made fun of for being gay in the end. He also ends the film by being Joey's boyfriend. Pardon, what? I'm kind-of tired of this heteronormative nonsense where movies have to end with all main characters (Sans the villain, of course.) end up in a happy straight relationship. Joey's non-goth friend who's in the movie for a very short amount of time also ends up with a goth boyfriend because happily-ever-after and all that. It probably wouldn't have sat as poorly with me if they didn't make fun of Antonio for "looking gay" which in context makes no sense since he's pretty gender conforming compared to the goth men in the film. It also didn’t help that there were comments about lesbians at the beginning of the movie. At one point Joey's grandparents suggest she might like girls and Joey rebukes it with vitriol saying her grandparents are "too cool". The same kind of vitriol you hear when a straight person tells you they could never imagine being gay, that's disgusting. Oh, but they support your "choices", hm? I just wish Antonio’s character was a bit more fleshed out and he didn’t end up being back-up male love interest that’s only there to save female lead from bad guys and heartbreak.  First rule of Goth Music is you don’t talk about Goth Music? The movie introduces goth along with music. The music in the film is honestly really good and a good portrayal of what goths actually listen to. Joey mentions she likes the music near the beginning and she goes to events such as a silent disco, a party, and a concert. Despite music obviously being a major source of community in the movie, no one actually talks about it other than that one instance of Joey mentioning she likes it. No one suggests bands to her or actually goes to the parties or concerts to do anything other than make out. The silent disco is the only real instance of them listening and dancing to the music and it feels like it's over in a flash. Though, the corny goth dance moves in that scene kind-of make up for it. At one point Antonio pulls out a guitar and asks if Joey wants him to play “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”. She mentions she’s never heard of it which leads Antonio to ask if she’s new to the scene. At another point in the party, Joey asks someone if they like Marylin Manson. While this is an obvious faux pas to anyone actually in the goth scene, no one actually engages with her in conversation about it. How was Joey supposed to know his music isn’t goth? Wasn’t she listening to goth music earlier at the silent disco? Or the music she said sounded pretty from Victor’s room when they met? How did she get this far liking these bands but not noticing that they sound nothing like Marylin Manson and did she never look them up on her own to listen to them later? She obviously likes them, so it really surprises me that she only got in the goth scene for a guy.
Robert Smith NEVER has smeared lipstick. /s The emphasis on appearance is a little annoying throughout the movie, but I guess it had to be. It fits Victor's personality to change Joey's personal style to match his, and the makeover scene was fun, but I wish there would have been more diversity in the cast of townie goths who attend the parties, concerts, and discos. I counted one person with blonde hair and a small handful of older goths. I didn't notice any non-white goths and unfortunately the movie placed quite the emphasis on pale skin and trying to avoid tanning. I know people like the white face along with dark make-up and looking vamp-ish, but when all your characters are in white greasepaint and there's no PoC to be seen in goth garb it sends a message that only white people can be goth and that's really something we need to kill in the subculture. I did, however, like the wardrobe choices. I liked that Joey got her wardrobe from a thrift store and that she dyed a top she already owned. She looked up tutorials on how to do her hair and make-up and it never looked perfect. That's a good thing. Baby Bats won't know how to do a bats nest hairstyle, they won't know to blend foundation to the neck, and they won't have a perfect eyeliner wing. No one mentioned alt-brand name clothing and no one had a perfectly couture outfit that media likes to sell as a stereotypical goth teenager. The goths actually looked like goths. Their wardrobes were things you'd actually see in a club and we get to see that they wear a plain black tank top and shorts when milling about the house, only breaking out the corsets and top hats for big events. The older goths were more well put together and that makes sense because they've been in the subculture longer and have had time to figure out what they like and what looks good on them. The costuming department did a really great job with this. Ah, but as a side note about wardrobe, who donates brand new, tall Docs to a thrift store??? You can’t sit with us. And sadly, the worst part of Goth in the movie- community. What was that, film? Other than the three main goths, we only get to see other goths at large events and they all seem a bit catty? You have the silent disco, which was cute but no one really spoke to or interacted with each other. Pen and Cob are kind-of doing their own thing throughout no matter who they’re with. We also have the house party and the concert. The other goths there are.... pretty much just there to be judgy because Joey’s new? The first time I went to a club in a new city and didn’t know anyone some random person grabbed my hands and dragged me to the dancefloor. It was fun! People would ask the DJ what he was spinning and they weren’t shamed for not knowing. If someone’s jacket ripped, five people would come out of the woodwork with a safety pin and afterwards we’d all pile into Denny’s and laugh and joke and talk about nothing. I’m not saying there’s no “Gothier-than-Thou” types, believe me I’ve met more than a few, but in a movie that’s trying to portray someone WANTING to become a goth, why not portray the subculture as more inviting? Also, with the comments from Victor and a few other remarks, it seems like alcohol is needed to blend into the goth scene, and that definitely isn’t the case. Sure, a lot of us love absinth or a snakebite in black, but it’s not needed to fit in with the cool kids at the club. The community really is my favorite thing about this subculture and I feel it was a disservice that most goths were showcased as uninviting. I can understand Joey not being wanted at the party initially as she wasn’t invited in the first place and perhaps the eldergoths in the room didn’t want to have to have an impromptu etiquette and history lesson with a babybat when they’re supposed to be relaxing, but the point of the movie was to showcase why Joey wants to be a goth. She never makes friends outside of Victor’s immediate group and never tries to find community or information about the scene online or anything. I guess that is how babybats do act a lot of the time, but again, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, the point of the movie is showing why someone would WANT to be a goth.  Final Thoughts. The goth scene in the movie looked like a regular goth scene. I liked the emphasis on thrifting and DIY and that newcomers don’t come out of the womb knowing the lyrics to the entirety of Floodland. The music was phenomenal. I liked that the music featured was goth music, but not the main five bands that everyone already knows. I liked that the events attended were focused mainly around music. I liked seeing actual goth dance moves on screen. I liked that people in the movie did use terminology found in the subculture and made jokes about the subculture that insiders would actually make. I liked that Pen and Cob were wonderfully peppy despite their dark interests, I liked that we got punk-goth solidarity. I liked that it did remind me a bit of my babybat years and got me missing clubs and events. I miss all my friends... I really do...
I was put off by the passage of time in the movie, Joey’s cattiness with anyone who tries to help her, the light and casual homophobia sprinkled in, and the negative-leaning portrayal of the goth community. Other than that, though, I did think it was a good movie with a satisfying ending and I would really suggest people check it out. It’s probably the most accurate portrayal of goths in any media, really, and it’s worth a watch. At the very least, go listen to the soundtrack on BandCamp.

Snapshots
Here are 6 short fics based on items from this post.
I decided to write this for @randomregularmd, who’s a doctor, as a way to thank her for her service. 🙇‍♀️
(There’s more under the cut.)
. . .
37. Tender Kiss
Valentina glances up from her magazine to look at Juliana, whose eyes are focused on her laptop’s screen, her brows furrowing adorably.
It’s a typical weeknight for them. They’re sitting on the couch in one of the Carvajal mansion’s living rooms, both doing their respective homework. Juliana is leaning against the couch’s arm, her legs stretched out over Valentina’s lap.
Valentina, who will be graduating from university in a couple of months, has been going through one of her assigned readings. Juliana is browsing the internet, looking for ideas for one of her class projects, which requires her to design a full ensemble based on the works of female artists. Juliana has been spouting off facts about the likes of Frida Kahlo, María Izquierdo, and Leonora Carrington at random times for the past few days. Valentina thinks it’s the most adorkable thing.
Juliana looks up just then, meeting Valentina’s gaze. “Qué?” she asks, giving a lopsided smile.
“Qué de qué?” Valentina returns, smirking.
Juliana starts chuckling at the familiar rejoinder.
Valentina is overcome with a wave of affection. She leans forward, caressing Juliana’s face before capturing her lips in a leisurely kiss. She can feel Juliana’s smile against her mouth, so sweet she can almost taste it. When Valentina pulls back, Juliana is still smiling.
“What was that for?” Juliana asks, her voice as soft as the look in her eyes.
“Nothing,” Valentina says, shrugging slightly. “Es que te amo.”
If possible, Juliana’s expression gentles even further. “Te amo también, Val.”
47. True Love’s Kiss
Juliana approaches Valentina’s sleeping form as she buttons up her white shirt.
They’re in Valentina’s bedroom, Juliana having spent the night there. She has just taken a shower and is now getting dressed for school. Valentina, who only has afternoon classes that day, is having a well-deserved lie-in.
Not wanting to disturb her girlfriend’s slumber, Juliana bends down slowly to give Valentina a light kiss, but it quickly becomes clear that Valentina isn’t asleep as she reciprocates with little delay.
When she pulls back, Juliana giggles at Valentina’s bright smile, eyes disappearing and dimples showing. “I thought you were asleep.”
“I was asleep,” Valentina says, the gleam in her eyes telling Juliana that she’s about to say something really cheesy. “You woke me up with True Love’s Kiss.”
Juliana bursts out laughing. “True Love’s Kiss?” she repeats once she has recovered.
“Sí,” Valentina insists through a grin. “Eres mi Principe Azul, remember?”
Juliana can only shake her head and smile before Valentina draws her in a longer, deeper kiss. Her heart feels so full of love for this girl who has made a fairy tale out of her life.
2. Nose Kiss
“I mean, he does have a crush on you,” Erika declares casually.
Erika is one of Juliana’s old friends from fashion school and is now working as a costume designer for a popular telenovela. Juliana has visited her on the show’s set a couple of times. Presently, they’re talking about one of the actors who was apparently too chatty with her.
“No way!” Juliana denies vehemently.
At the same time, Valentina exclaims, “I knew it!”
Juliana has told her about the overly-chatty actor, of course, and she had some suspicions about his crush. Valentina didn’t say anything because she wasn’t really sure, but Erika has just confirmed it. Valentina already dislikes the actor on principle, but unlike when they were younger, she doesn’t get too irritated about his crush on her fianceé.
She used to get so jealous of anyone who would even dare to look Juliana’s way. It’s not that she didn’t trust Juliana, she just hated the thought of anyone else desiring her girlfriend. It took her a while, but she’s come to realise that she can’t stop people from having good taste. Besides, they can crush on her fianceé all they want, Valentina’s still the one who gets to go home to her every day. It also helps that Juliana never takes kindly to being told that some guy fancies her. She seems to take it as a personal insult that men would find her attractive.
“Ugh!” Juliana says, her nose wrinkling in distaste. “I’m never going back there again.”
Valentina lets out an involuntarily squeak at the adorable sight. Unable to help herself, she leans over and places a kiss on Juliana’s nose. “You are too cute, mi amor. No wonder Mexico’s most eligible bachelor fancies you.”
“No. Just… no.”
Valentina chuckles before putting an arm around Juliana’s shoulders and turning to Erika, who is sitting across the table from them, looking quite entertained. “Erika, you can tell that guy that this eligible bachelorette--” she points at herself, “--has already claimed Juliana Valdés’ heart.”
34. We Survived Kiss
The dirt road is unlit except for their little vehicle’s dim headlights. They’ve been on the road for what feels like hours. Their flight was delayed so they missed the car that was supposed to pick them up. They had to take a bus to the town centre, and now this motorised rickshaw to the private resort that they booked for their holiday.
“We’re going to die, we’re going to die, we’re going to die,” Valentina chants repeatedly, gripping Juliana’s hand tightly. “We survived the drug cartels and kidnappings just to die here, in a remote island in the Pacific.”
“Val--”
“What was that?” Valentina asked, letting go of Juliana’s hand only to throw her arms around her neck.
“What?”
“There’s something on the side of the road!”
“I don’t see anything, Val,” Juliana says. “Maybe it’s just the way the plants are moving in the wind?” she tries to reason.
Valentina falls quiet then. The only sound they can hear is the thrum of the rickshaw’s engine, sputtering whenever they drive over a particularly bumpy part of the road.
Just as Juliana begins to think that Valentina has calmed down, she starts talking again. “Juls,” she says seriously, “I want you to know, if this is our last day on this earth, that I won’t rest in our next life until I find you.”
Juliana’s heart stutters at Valentina’s declaration. Trust her girlfriend to say the most romantic thing during a moment of fear. She maneuvers them so she has her arms around Valentina instead, and she starts rubbing soothing circles on her back.
“Me too, Val,” she says. “But we won’t die here, mi amor,” she adds soothingly. Juliana knows Valentina will recognise that once she starts thinking rationally. It’s just that sometimes, Valentina, with her writer’s brain, can sometimes let her imagination get the best of her. “I promise.”
It’s not until their rickshaw stops almost a mile away from what looks like a big house and their driver tells them abruptly in broken English to get off, that some of Valentina’s fears start creeping into Juliana as well. After they’ve gotten out, the driver flatly tells them to “stand where they are,” and Juliana can’t help but think that he is going to attack them.
“Val,” Juliana starts quietly as they stand staring at their driver, gripping each other’s hands. “When I say the word,” she says, thankful that the man doesn’t speak Spanish, “run to that big house okay? I’ll hold him off.”
“What? Are you out of your mind? I’m not leaving you with this man. If anything, I should hold him off.”
Juliana is about to argue back when they’re interrupted by a car approaching from the direction of the house. It’s one of the resort’s staff, apologising profusely for not being able to meet them at the airport because they thought they cancelled their reservations. Serving as translator, the staff explains to them that their driver, who knows someone in the resort, texted ahead to inform the staff of their arrival. The resort is situated on a hill, and it’s too much of a climb for the little vehicle.
After thanking their driver -- and giving him a more generous than normal tip for thinking he was going to attack them -- Juliana and Valentina climb into the car. They get checked in quickly, then one of the staff leads them to their bedroom and politely wishes them a good night before closing the door behind him.
Finally alone, Valentina throws her arms around Juliana and kisses her soundly on the lips. “We survived,” she says, relief clear in her voice.
“Morrita,” Juliana says, laughing, “I don’t think we were in any danger to begin with.”
Valentina only responds with an embarrassed smile and a slight shake of her head. She steps away from Juliana only to grab her hand and pull her towards the bathroom. They’re due for a long, hot bath.
44. Public Kiss
The allure of #juliantina has drawn fans from all over the globe ever since Mexican heiress Valentina Carvajal went on national television to declare her love for one Juliana Valdés.
The aftermath of that declaration, coming on the heels of the Carvajals’ drug and money scandal, ran the gamut of possible reactions: from frenzied excitement, to reasonable scepticism, to toxic cynicism. Time can shed light upon truth, however, and in the months that followed, the cynics have fallen silent, the sceptics have been converted, and the fans have become even more excited.
The fans’ primary source of content is Valentina Carvajal’s Instagram. With permission, she talks a little more about her girlfriend in some of her stories: like how Juliana grew up in the USA but is still very much a Mexican; or how Juliana made Valentina beautiful blouses when they were still getting to know each other, and how she’s now studying fashion design. Valentina’s page, which went quiet after her father’s death, is now regularly updated with pictures, some of which are of herself and Juliana. The two women look so happy and in love that anyone seeing the pictures feels privileged to witness such beauty.
Despite Valentina’s occasional posts of the two of them, her relationship with Juliana remains private. The more dedicated fans have followed their family and friends -- and tried to follow a locked account that most definitely belongs to Juliana -- in the hopes of witnessing more of their moments, but they’re met with little success. They have seen Valentina and Juliana hug and throw their arms around each other, but they have never seen them kiss.
That changes almost a year after the famous declaration, thanks to one of the couple’s friends. The name of the friend is irrelevant, what’s important is that they’re posting stories of what appears to be a pool party in the Carvajal mansion.
Valentina seems to have gotten herself into a contest with a guy about who is the faster swimmer.
The first video clip shows people around the pool counting down; at zero, Valentina and her opponent dive into the deep end of the pool. The next video shows Valentina progressively gaining ground on her competition. In the next one, she’s won, climbing out of the pool and throwing her hands up in the air in victory. In the fourth one, she runs up to Juliana, who’s waiting for her with a towel ready.
It’s the next few video clips that send fans into a frenzy.
Juliana wraps the towel around Valentina, who, undeterred by having her arms trapped in the fluffy cloth, leans over and plants a triumphant kiss on Juliana’s lips. As if that wasn’t enough, Valentina takes the towel from Juliana’s grip and swings it around her shoulders, then she throws her arms around Juliana to give her a longer kiss.
Their friends cheer.
Less than an hour later, #juliantinabesos trends on social media.
20. Reunion Kiss
Adrenaline continues to course through Valentina’s body even half an hour after her interview with Victoria, making her more anxious with each passing minute that she’s still in the studio. Victoria and several of the crew wanted to congratulate her after the interview, and Valentina found that she couldn’t dismiss their kind words after enduring so many rude ones from her so-called friends and her own sister.
Finally, however, Valentina thanks the last of the crew who came up to talk to her. She checks her phone as she stands up, her stomach dropping when she sees that Juliana hasn’t replied to her text. She already tried to call her once, but the call cut off after more than a minute without being answered.
.
She’s met with more people as she leaves the studio, one particularly bold interviewer asking her to say a few words to the LGBT community. She glances down the corridor -- the exit -- before answering as safely as she knows how to. The reason for her coming out is a very personal one. She did it to be true to be herself. She did it to let everyone -- especially those who tried to tell her it was wrong -- that her love for Juliana is abiding and unshakable.
Valentina glances down the corridor again, and there, like an angel granting her wishes, Juliana is walking towards her.
For the past half hour since her interview, Valentina has felt like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders. Now, with Juliana smiling so sweetly as she approaches, Valentina feels her heart lift.
*
Juliana practically stumbles out of the taxi that she and Lupé took to get to the El Centro building. She looks back at her mother, who’s still paying the driver, only to be hurried off with frantic waving. Not needing further encouragement, Juliana turns back towards the building, takes a deep breath, and goes inside.
The whole place seems to be in a furore. The two men standing guard by the door are listening with great interest to a woman, whose tone suggests that she’s sharing some gossip, allowing Juliana to go by unnoticed. There’s a crowd gathering by the receptionist’s desk and another one by the elevators. All of them have Valentina’s name on their lips.
Eavesdropping on their conversations -- and blushing at hearing her own name -- Juliana manages to figure out where to find Valentina.
.
The noise of the press reaching Juliana’s ears tells her that she will find Valentina as soon as she takes the next turn in the corridor.
She pauses, hesitating, as the realisation sinks in that she will have to show her face to the reporters and their cameras if she wants to go up to Valentina right at that moment. Then she thinks of Valentina’s words from half an hour ago, reflecting everything she’s done since they confessed to each other that they were in love. Valentina has always believed in their relationship, and now she has braved the judgment of a nation just to stand by it.
Juliana isn’t about to let her face everything by herself.
With a deep bracing breath, she starts moving again, turning the corner to see Valentina talking graciously with a crowd of reporters.
And then Valentina is turning in her direction, catching sight of her, and the nervous smile she sends Juliana’s way has Juliana falling in love all over again.
*
Words are spoken.
Juliana asks if Valentina means everything she said, as though she doesn’t already know the answer to that. Valentina tells Juliana that she can’t imagine her life without her, just to convey the extent of her feelings. She tells the reporter that what she has with Juliana is the most beautiful relationship in her life, because the world needs to realise that there is nothing wrong with their love.
More is said by Juliana’s wide smile and the sparkle in her eyes, by their synchronised giggles, by the way Juliana reaches out for Valentina’s hand, by Valentina’s kiss on Juliana’s hand as they walk away from the reporters, by Juliana’s head on Valentina’s shoulder, by the way Valentina kisses the side of Juliana’s head.
And so the world knows.
But, like Juliana said what felt like a lifetime ago, their relationship and love for each other is for no one else to judge. It’s between them, it’s theirs and theirs alone.
*
They manage to evade the reporters as well as the groups of people discussing the now-famous interview. Valentina leads them up to the top floor of the building and to the chief executive’s office.
“This was my dad’s office,” Valentina says, closing the blinds as Juliana looks in awe around the bright and airy space. “Lucía moved here after he-- after we thought he died, and now she’s-- we should be left alone here…” she trails off, thinking of her stepmother, and thinking how, the last time she was in this room, she was crying to Lucía because Juliana was kidnapped.
Juliana turns to her. She closes the short distance between them and grabs both of Valentina’s hands in hers. They stand toe-to-toe as Juliana waits for her to continue.
Valentina takes heart at her presence, at the love and understanding shining in her eyes. “Juls…”
Juliana smiles at the way Valentina says her name, like it’s the most precious one in the world.
“I’m glad you came,” Valentina says. She was worried that Juliana didn’t see her interview, and then she was worried that Juliana did see it and wasn’t pleased with what she did.
“Me too,” Juliana says honestly. “I can’t believe you said all that,” she adds.
Before Valentina, she never thought that love is in the cards for her. And up until the moment Valentina said her name on national television, she never thought that someone would shout their love for her to the world. It feels surreal.
Valentina bites her lip. “Was it-- was it too much--?”
“No. No, Val,” Juliana is quick to correct her. “It’s just… you said you were worried about your family. No one has ever-- I’ve never-- I mean, I don’t--” Juliana huffs in frustration at her inability to express exactly what she feels.
Valentina thinks she knows what Juliana is trying to say. She leans closer, making sure that Juliana is meeting her gaze before speaking.
“Te quiero, Juliana,” she says clearly, squeezing Juliana’s hand. “Te quiero mucho, te quiero tanto. This, what we have, it’s ours, but I will shout it to the world over and over if it means that we get to keep each other. It’s what I should have done long ago. I love you, and I’m not afraid of who knows that. I want to be with you, if you’ll have me?”
“Val, of course,” Juliana replies immediately. “Yo también, te quiero tanto. I’m sorry I broke us up, but--”
“No, Juls,” says, shaking her head. “Please don’t apologise over that. Everyone was trying to separate us, and you were worried about so many things. You’re not to blame for that.”
“I still hurt you, Val, and I’m sorry for that,” Juliana insists. “But I promise,” she swallows, “I’ll never let anything or anyone make me stay away from you again. I want us to be together.”
Valentina leans forward to press their foreheads together. Juliana inches closer so their noses are touching, their lips millimetres apart, their breaths intermingling. And then they’re kissing, soft and sweet at first, then deep and all-consuming, lasting for minutes and minutes until the need for air draws them apart.
They smile as they gaze at each other, all bright eyes and flushed faces and swollen lips and mussed-up hair.
“Te amo, Juliana,” Valentina says, trying to convey the depth of her feelings in her voice as well as in her words.
Juliana sucks in a breath. No one has ever said those two words to her before, but she knows without a doubt that she feels the exact same way. “Te amo, Valentina.”

Big Fluffy Bat
@cruciferousjex
“Ta da!”
When Entrapta said that she had a present for Hordak, and she’d be waiting in his quarters when he was ready, there were a lot of ideas that went though his mind. What he saw before him was not  among them. Entrapta sat crossed-legged on their bed (When had it become their bed? ) wearing what he assumed was some kind of oversized costume.  It looked roughly like it was intended to be a pink and purple horse with a horn on it’s head. Tiny silver wings were attached to  the back,  and like most things Entrapta liked, it was covered in very fluffy, soft fur.
“Don’t you like it?” She asked.  Her hair, which hung out along the edge of the hood that formed the costume’s head, drooped.
“It is…. Very you.” Hordak finally said.  She beamed, and her hair picked up a box from under the bed, and thrust it into Hordak’s hands. “I made one for you too!” She exclaimed, then upon seeing Hordak’s horrified face said, “Don’t worry,  it’s not a unicorn. It’s a black bat.”
Frowning in confusion, Hordak lifted the lid  of the box as though it contained something that might bite him. All he saw was a mass of plush black fur. He touched it carefully, and found it to be - again, like most things Entrapta really liked- very very soft.
“I do not know why you’d want me to wear this.” He said as he looked back at her. He tried to imagine  himself in a similar outfit, but in black.
It was laughable, and he felt his ears flick down and burn.
“... You don’t like it.” Entrapta said again, her hair drooping. Hordak  growled and looked away from her.
“It’s not..” He sighed. “It looks fine on you. It suits you. Even if it’s…. A little silly to my tastes, to be honest, it suits you.” He frowned at the box in his hands. “This would not suit me.”
“You don’t know if you don’t try it.” Entrapta said softly. “I think you’d look really cute!”
Hordak gave  a frustrated growl. Sometimes he questioned Entrapta’s tastes. “I know that I would just  look ridiculous.” He hissed.  He glanced at Entrapta, which was a bad idea - she was starting to look sad.
“I just….” Entrapta looked aside, pulling the hood down over her face. “I just… I think it’d be nice to cuddle with you while you wore that.   It’s just, it’s so soft, and warm, and it’s really comfy, so I thought you’d like it.
Hordak realized then, in that moment, that before the night was up, he’d  be wearing this  stupid looking thing. The image in his head of him, the Warlord of the Fright Zone, wearing this fluffy furry thing.
At least he’d only be seen by Entrapta, and when he really thought about it there was definitely more embarrassing things she’d seen him in. Or not in.
“Help me with my armor.” He finally hissed. Entrapta gave a little happy squeal before she started taking off the  panels of his armor. When that was off, he  pulled the costume out of the box and held it up.
As she had promised, it was clearly a bat. Large, cute black eyes were on the hood, a little dog-like nose, and big  eats which perked up from the top of the hood. There were  black wings hanging off the back,  fangs at the edge of the hood, and that  soft black fur was all over.
He frowned, then just decided to get it over with. Entrapta wouldn’t force him, but she had  clearly gone out of her way to get these garments, and  for some reason he’d never fathom, wanted to see him in it. He quickly pulled off his dress, and pulled the costume on, buttoning it up in the front
He felt his ears burn  once he was in it, the hood up over his head. It was very warm, which was perfect for him; Hordak hated the cold- he just wasn’t designed for it. It was quite baggy, very loose all over allowing him to move easily, which he also liked.
It was also very comfortable. It was perhaps the most comfortable thing he had ever worn. There was a thin layer of fur on the inside, which rubbed gently against his skin, making him want to pull the whole thing tighter around him.
He resisted that urge.
He took a breath, and turned to face Entrapta, who  had pulled a mirror over so Hordak could see himself.
Ridiculous.
He was Hordak; The Lord of the Fright Zone and The (former) General of the Emperor of the Known Universe was now stood in the middle of his personal quarters, looking very much like a very large stuffed doll, save for his face peeking out under the hood,   his eyes wide, his mouth fixed in a frown, and his ears  just visible at the edge of the hood, bright blue and burning.
“I look-”
“SO CUTE!” Entrapta exclaimed, and started giggling happily.
Entrapta did a thing  sometimes when she got very happy, or excited. She’d give this happy squeal, give her laugh that ended in that adorable snort, and her hair would do this frizzy thing where it puffed out.
The whole thing made Hordak strangely feel like his chest was going to burst, though today, he compared it more to feeling like having a bit of this fluffy fur  inside his chest. He felt a slight smile flickered over his lips.
“Do you like it?” Entrapta asked, excited.
“I.. .” He hesitated. She was so excited, he didn’t want to end that. “It’s… very warm, and admittedly comfortable. “ He glanced back at the mirror, and looked away quickly. “I look silly.”
“I don’t think so.” Entrapta stated. SHe got up, pulled herself towards him with her hair, and grabbed him in a  sudden, tight hug as she rubbed her face on his chest. “And now you’re so soft, and warm and  comfy!”  She picked him up with her hair, pulled him to the bed and pushed him down.   Before he could protest or say anything, she was curled up at his side, snuggling into him.
“.. If you just wanted to have something soft to  hold.” Hordak  said softly, “You could have gotten one of those blankets you have.”
“But I wanted to cuddle you.” She stated as thought it was obvious, “Besides, I think you’re cute, and you deserve comfortable thing, so you get cute, comfortable  things!”
Hordak looked away as his ears burned, but he put an arm over Entrapta. He felt  almost obliged to say that she was wrong, he wasn’t designed to be cute, he was designed to be a general and a warrior.
But, oddly, he didn’t think he necessarily minded if Entrapta thought he was cute. Even if she was wrong.
With a sigh, he turned over, holding Entrapta close to him. She was slowly starting  to fall asleep, a big smile on her face which was half  hidden by the outfit she had provided for him. She looked so happy, so content in his arms.
It still amazed him that she could be like that because of him.
He was lost in thought when  he felt something land on his hip. He started up, worried for a moment, his ears burning at a possible intrusion to his quarters, but it was only Imp, who was wearing  an imp-sized costume  just like Hordak’s.
“She got one for you too?” He asked. Imp looked at Hordak, snickered, then  curled up between Hordak and Entrapta,  a content look on his face as  he started to doze off.
Hordak still felt embarrassed to be wearing this  outfit, and if it ever got out that he wore such a thing, he was honestly  unsure if his reputation would ever recover. But  the only person here was Entrapta,  Emily in the corner, and Imp. Imp could record audio, but thankfully  not visuals, so there was no worry there, and if Entrapta was made so happy by it, if Imp seemed content and happy…..
And if he was honest, even he felt it was  very, VERY comfortable…..
He figured  he could keep it around. Maybe wear it every now and then if and when Entrapta asked. And if she thought that he was cute in it, well, he had a hard time in this moment convincing himself that any other opinions mattered.

i woke up this morning with A LOT of feelings about winx club, so I decided to try my hand at some redesigns!! this show meant a lot to me growing up, but I always had issues with the ways some of the characters (ESPECIALLY stella) were portrayed, and the costumes in the first two seasons were really boring and strange? & they had same-body syndrome, which I didn’t like. so I’ve taken it upon myself to IMPROVE some things!!!
justifications under the cut :)
BLOOM: I love Bloom. I’m one of those people who does, genuinely like the protagonists best, because I’m basic and easily led. That being said, though, I feel like her original design doesn’t match up with the way the show insists that she’s ultra special and the best and has this big cool magic... my redesign just gives her outfit a little more flair. Bloom is now the shortest member of the Winx Club, but there’s a lot of kick in that small package. Her outfit has some neat angles and pointy bits to evoke dragon claws and scales--I mean come on, her power is the dragon fire and we’re just going to ignore that? Also her hair is flames because aesthetic. Her ears are a little pointy, and her teeth are a little sharp, but not so much that she doesn’t still pass well enough for human...
STELLA: Stella. Wow. Obviously she’s undergone the most changes in design, and that’s mostly because I freaking HATED her as a kid. She’s kind of stuck up and annoying, she’s a dumb blonde, she’s the Shopping One, and also her design just never worked for me in general. In my redesign, Stella is the first fairy Bloom meets, and the first alien. She could pass for human if she really wanted to, but the glowing orange eyes and shimmery skin (it looks like she took a bath in bronzer!!) stand out. She stands out in general by being, like, over six feet tall without heels on. She shines like the sun! I made her look Black partially because I just think orange looks so much better on dark skin, and partially because she is still the fashionista and I love the idea of her having like 20 thousand different hairstyles. You can do so much stuff with Black hair. (Also also, it’s dumb that Layla/Aisha is basically the only dark-skinned character in the entire show.) My Stella’s also a bit less annoying, I like to think that she’s just in general a big sweetheart. Show!Stella was... iffy about that sometimes.
MUSA: With this redesign I mostly just wanted to make more callbacks to her cultural heritage. In the original show, her world is very Chinese-inspired, so I gave her a cheongsam-y dress. I think it suits her. I also gave her those combat boots to show some personality. I don’t have a lot to say here. She has pointy ears because she’s an alien.
TECNA: Ugh, Tecna. Listen, I know some people love the hat. I am not one of those people. Bye-bye, hat. Tecna was always really neglected by the show, so I’ve designed her with a bit more detail... she’s a cyborg, she’s constantly keyed into the fairy internet, she’s really smart, and... yeah, that’s my motivation. Also, the old jumpsuit was SUPER BORING. Let Tecna be the tomboy she deserves to be. Also, she’s green.
FLORA: She’s soft and round now because it’s cute. She’s probably the closest to the original of the squad, all I really did was change her body type and make the costume a little more floral-looking and less revealing?
LAYLA/AISHA: Big strong arm muscles for giving big strong hugs!!! I grew up calling her Layla and you can’t stop me. I’m not totally in love with this look, but I figure it’s dumb to have landwalkers ruling an ocean planet, so I tried to give her some kinda.. weird neck fin things? And she’s got that sort of sporty tomboy adventure vibe, so I amplified that with an outfit that looks like an athletic swimsuit, and put her hair up out of her face in a high pony. She still has wedge heels though... why? Because I like them. And because I think she likes to be tall. HC that she can make them come and go as she pleases.

Thoughts on Sofia the First Part 1:
I wrote these almost every time I watched an episode but I’m just going to post the more ‘meaningful’ ones out here. Only the episodes that I care or got mad about will be featured. I know it’s late and I should have posted these every time I finished a season but it took a week to convince myself just to post this since the finale is today. It will be divided into 5 parts and maybe an additional sixth part if I feel like talking about Forever Royal.
Season 1
Sofia the First Once Upon a Princess
Not a bad pilot. I could barely remember the whole thing so this is basically still new to me. Suddenly becoming a royal must be a huge culture shock for Sofia though shouldn’t Miranda also have a hard time? She probably took lessons or something, maybe it’s also because she’s a full grown woman? Idk.
I like how it showed Sofia struggling in trying to keep up and it doesn’t help that Amber was sabotaging her.  Also hearing the good ol’ Mr. Ceedric brings back memories. I feel like I’m gonna have a lot of second hand embarrassment for Cedric in the future eps.
I personally like Cinderella's advice and song for Sofia and how she and Amber patched things up. A good introduction to the series.
Just One of the Princes
The usual girls can’t do boy’s things just because they’re girls. The song’s catchy and everyone’s voices are good, especially Amber’s. Minimus is amusing and I’d like to see him again and judging by them being in the derby I probably will. I also kinda hoped that Sofia wouldn’t actually win because she never rode a horse let alone a flying one in her life and didn’t have enough practice time. But since this is a kid’s show (Get ready to hear this a lot) she just had to win.
Winning isn’t everything and I wish they showed that and still praised Sofia for trying to make a change, maybe then she and Minimus will just have to practice more for next year. My favorite moments were Amber supporting Sofia, getting worried for her and giving her derby tiara to her sister as a prize.
The Big Sleepover
I don’t have much to say for this ep. I’m loving Amber’s singing. Ruby and Jade annoyed me a bit but I’m starting to like Clio. Glad that they showed a different personality and not just cardboard cutouts of typical haughty princesses.
Cedric's Apprentice
This was the episode I remembered the most and still love, even more than when I first saw it. Cedric’s parents are fun, doing the devil angel thing. His song was nice, it explained the reason why he wants to take over the kingdom. It really shows that he has low self esteem. Even if this was the episode I remembered the most I forgot that he was pretty patient with Sofia when he taught her.
“Not every royal sorcerer can be as gifted as your father.”
That line was like a slap to the face. Roland...dude, the hell?
No wonder he has low self esteem. Even when I chuckled at Baileywick’s burn, that was still sad. Everyone seems to look down on him except Sofia.
Sofia leaving him rubies arranged into a heart, risking herself with the lizard potion and giving him a gold star gave me diabetes. I feel like magic’s going to be the princess’ forte. I’m seeing a beautiful friendship blooming and I don’t think Cedric’s truly evil, maybe this will go somewhere.
A Royal Mess
Another catchy song. Amber fanning was hilarious, as well as Cedric’s “Oh it wasn’t me your Majesty, it was the chiiildreeen.” The lesson was simple and nice.
The Shy Princess
Sadly it’s the typical approach of a shy girl but sorta done better. I like James’ and Zandar’s friendship and I want to know more about the adorable chinese princess. The way Sofia handled Vivian’s shyness was okay. Maybe the reason I thought it was mediocre was because not everyone is gifted or loves music as much as Vivian. I know music helps people deal with their stage fright. Heck, it helped me when performed onstage but what if music wasn’t her hobby? What then? Still, I find her interesting and I really want her to not be suddenly confident like she wasn’t shy at all in the future episodes she will be in.
The Princess Test
I love the song and I like how Amber gave Hildegard more confidence in herself but something about it doesn’t sit well with me and I don’t know why. Maybe I’m thinking too much into it like what if more than one helped Fauna? Would she have conjured up more books and more obstacles? Maybe it’s because of the way the fairies awarded everyone?
The Little Witch
This didn’t really sit well with me. Lucinda did a lot of harmful hexes and her being easily forgiven disturbed me. Jade has every right to not invite her. That witch should learn that there are consequences and not everyone can be forgiven so easily. Also where are the adults? If she has been doing this for a while then someone must have at least reported to the king or have done something. Still a kid’s show after all.
Two to Tangu
The first time we get to see another land and kingdom. Not gonna lie, that carpet also frustrated me. Amber’s ruffled hair is cute though. It was Sofia and Amber’s bonding moments that made this one gold.
Finding Clover
Clover I swear irritated me a lot and I hated the fact that the episode implied that it was Sofia’s fault too. She did nothing wrong and I just felt bad for her.I love how Sofia threatened the magician.
“I’ll go to the castle, I’ll get the guards. I’ll get my dad.”
I do like the lesson though, a pretty realistic moral.
The Amulet and the Anthem
I adore the Enchancian Anthem especially with their combined voices in the end. I also like how Ruby is more forgiving than Jade. Cedric was really fun in this episode. Belle’s song was nice and Sofia trying to sing along is cute.
Princess Butterfly
Another favorite episode. Amber’s character development is going well and I’m growing quite fond of her. Wormwood and his sorcerer playing checkers and them sleeping is precious. Cedric’s “NoOO.” and “I CAN’T imAgine what went wrONg.” was hysterical.
The costume is beautiful but I also love Sofia’s. Cedric manipulating Amber was also good, their interactions are amusing. I also find it funny that Sofia noticed Amber’s attempts on trying to get her amulet but not when Cedric does his schemes.
Sofia willing to to sacrifice her amulet for her sister and Amber realizing that she doesn’t deserve this was A content. It was so adorable when they leaned their heads on each other.
The Floating Palace
Sofia’s mermaid form is nice along with Oona and her family. I don’t mind Sven, he actually didn’t annoy me. The animation is improving, the water and clouds look amazing and I love Emily’s design. I also noticed that Cedric is more devious in his sea creature form? Wormwood as a small squid is cute.
Ariel used to be my favorite and seeing her again just hit me with nostalgia. Wow, Cedric actually tried drowning a child, maybe he gained animal instincts? The whole sequence with Emily stopping the storm was epic. I guess we’ll have more mermaid adventures in the future. It was a good special.
Holiday in Enchancia
A good holiday special. Wassalia’s one of my favorite songs and Amber hits those notes so right. I love all of the winter get ups except for Amber’s. For a fashionable princess, she surely has the most plain outfit of them all, they basically just made her usual dress darker but her coat makes it a bit better. I didn’t like the reason Aurora was summoned and I felt that her appearance was wasted. It was too short and didn’t have any real meaningful lessons. Sofia could’ve easily thought of that herself.
I do love that they gave their gifts to the children, especially Amber’s “We have enough presents.” My girl’s growing, I’m proud.  It’s an uplifting episode.

Clara Oswald’s Wardrobe: The Eleventh Doctor Years
Yeah. You read it right. I’m back, bitches.
After a brief sojourn (like...two years) into not covering such fascinating topics as Martha’s elegance, Rose’s scrappy jeans, and River Song’s backwards-forwards style routine, I’m back to discuss Doctor Who and costume design, because we all have things we’re good at and mine is yelling about hemlines! So while we all mourn Bill Potts—please come back to the show, Pearl Mackie, I beg you honest-to-god—let’s throw in a flashback to a long time ago, and play around with CLARA OSWIN OSWALD.
Tumblr media
One nasty bit that’s kept me from getting to this post earlier is that Clara’s series 7 arc, thanks to the fragmenting-into-ten-thousand-tiny-pieces bit, is a little hard to view from a “character/costume” perspective. Do I count Oswin as part of her, despite significant differences between "our” Clara and Souffle Girl, or do I view their costume choices separately? What about the Clara from “The Snowmen”? What about the one who ran after Tom Baker in a terrible incident of green-screen-enabled acid reflux?
Tumblr media
Lord. Her feet don’t even hit the floor.
So after a lot of debate, I’m counting them, albeit shyly, and without extending to them the same connective layer I generally use between a character’s costume choices. They’re a part of Clara, so I can’t ignore them, but I won’t assume every choice they make extends to our Clara. After all, discussing all those Claras would just be impossible, wouldn’t it?
Tumblr media
I know. Great segue, right? Join us, pals, for a new edition of The Companion’s Wardrobe.
Tumblr media
When we first meet Oswin, I’m falling over myself because I love her so much. Ok, no, not really. But it’s hard to fend off the charm of this first outfit—it’s a mix of Pure Sex, Geeky Cool Kid, and Perky Sixties Air Stewardess that knocks together a couple diverse style types and leaves us unsure what her whole deal is. There’s the cheeky red dress with the asymmetrical neckline, the rose she tucks behind her ear, the sci-fi tool belt and watch, the youthful-chic sneaker-heels. It goes together, but what ties these into a cohesive character?
Tumblr media
Uh, yeah, Os, and if you’re gonna sass me the whole post you can do it in a more productive fashion. What these posts do is analyze—not assume what the designers meant, ever, but take what we know from the dress, delete from our brains our own metas and conjectures and far-flung notions, fling whether we think it’s pretty out the window except for that one rose tyler outfit. it deserved to be sassed, and try to embrace this as Character Translated Into Dress™ (while of course letting insignificant details slide because not EVERYTHING ties into your analysis, dumbass). We’re being told something, here, or else it’s just shitty costume design.
Which is always perfectly possible.
But no, Oswin’s dress is aiming for something: perfection. Everything about this dress is right, but it’s also TOO much. Too clean. Too fun. She’s polished and pretty and happy and comfortable—and none of it could possibly be real, with a Dalek just outside the door. While most of the wrecked passengers we’ve seen in past under-siege dramas have looked a little wrecked, with a dusty spacesuit or a tattered hairstyle to prove it, Oswin’s perfect bouncy curls and scratch-free outfit signal us far before the Doctor does that something is off.
Tumblr media
Besides the perfection of this outfit, unstained by real life’s messes, there are other hints of what Oswin’s got going for her. The bright red, like a warning signal, should hit us over the head: every other companion is a mish-mash of different hues and patterns, while Oswin reads like a stop sign. The heeled sneakers I love so much are almost kid-like, if not innocent—as is much of Oswin’s made-up life, as she calls her mum and lounges in her chair. She reads as both red-hot “NO” and a perfect, happy, straight-out-of-Pushing-Daisies “yes.”
It’s no wonder we didn’t know what to make of her the first time she showed up. She was popping into every different direction, and somehow making it work.
The next time we see her, the costumes hit us over the head with how this is the same character. Because guess what? The Lady in Red is back.
Tumblr media
Same hair, same low neckline, but a subtler shade of red this time, all over.
Tumblr media
I honestly don’t have a lot to say about this outfit (though it’s INCREDIBLY beautiful), except that red immediately marks Clara out as bold, and vivid, and a little bit larger than life. Remember how Rose dipped into dark reds slowly, after growing out of the safer pinks she got from Jackie? Clara’s already there, wearing blood red all over, inciting the Doctor to do something.
Tumblr media
Until she isn’t. Count me confused.
I’ve got no answers why her bland young charge picks up her red, or why Clara suddenly wears something that departs so drastically from everything she’s coded into her dress previously. Sure, she’s in “disguise,” but isn’t she closer to her true accent now? Why align herself color-wise with the ice monsters? Why ricochet between blue/green and red to further this split personality deal?
I got no answers. Sorry, lads.
Tumblr media
Modern Clara’s still got a touch of that “come on!” red, but it’s minimized. She’s wearing one of those light, tiny-pattern, floaty-fabric things that were SO EVERYWHERE in 2013, but that’s all we get from her. She’s a mystery, dressed in whatever’s currently in fashion, flaunting past a gravestone.
Tumblr media
But the lady in red is never gone for long.
Tumblr media
This is our first time with Proper Clara, and it lays out the elements of Clara’s personal aesthetic that we’ll see for quite some time. Little, adventuresome boots; black tights; a flimsy little dress with a subtle pattern; a big coat, comfortable and practical. The flying bird necklace is lovely. The skirt has the high-low hem of many skirts from this year; we’ll see one like it again. Aside from the visual shout-out to Dalek Oswin in the red dress/short boots combo, all this aligns with what little we know of Clara at this point—she’s competent at whatever she sets her mind to, she’s young, she's both adventuresome and fashionable; she’s very tidy and put-together.
I’d argue her look is still way more put-together than most normal people achieve—think of Rose’s slapdash jeans or Martha’s tank tops—but if I bite the inside of my cheeks and take deep breaths I can accept this as an outfit most TV costume designers would claim is normal, in the same impeccably-dressed “normal” vein of Iris West. It’s pretty, it’s contemporary, but it doesn’t tell me anything much.
Tumblr media
[this briefly-seen outfit, with its cardigan and vintage-y blouse, marks Clara as a sort of pretty-librarian type, though again this look is very in with then-contemporary style.]
Which gets to the root of a problem I have with many of Clara’s outfits in Series 7. Clara is frequently accused of being “boring”—and I firmly believe this has loads to do with the way she dresses, divorced from any opinion on the writing or the plot at this point. Jenna Coleman is an engaging actress, but a lot of the costumes from this era give us a cute, ordinary woman at the expense of furthering her arc in a particular direction.
Tumblr media
There are clues, of course. From the quality of her clothes, she’s somewhere in the middle-class range—not quite as effortlessly classy as soon-to-be doctor Martha, but not quite at Rose’s level of street style either. Clara probably reads The Guardian. Those boots aren’t cheap.
Her outfit is very well put together, though it doesn’t push any boundaries of style. Clara is always tied into contemporary fashion, from this point onwards, with her boots and jacket bringing a little frisson of tough to counter the femininity of the dress and bag. The bag’s a sharp, bossy red, and all together it kind of gives us who Clara thinks she is: perfectly turned out, girlish and flirty, tough enough to deal with a crisis, with just a small splash of opinionated red on the side.
Tumblr media
There’s red, again, in the flashback. (side note: how young is her dad????)
Tumblr media
“Cold War” mixes it up, though this is still Clara: there’s the slightly flared skirt we’ve seen in the past two looks, and the tough jacket firmly in evidence. I love the buttons up the front, though, and the icy shimmer is a nice departure—a little more glam than we’ve seen before from Clara. Considering Clara thought she was heading to Las Vegas, we can see what she thinks is appropriate for a night out right now: that vaguely-retro 1950s look Taylor Swift started, with a strong streak of cute, but nothing your grandmum would hate. (Amy would have had that skirt at least 6 inches shorter and narrower.) She’s girly and tough.
Tumblr media
“Hide” runs along the same lines. (also, bless all these full-costume promo pics.) The gentle cardigan look is back, and aside from the heels it’s all quite demure. It also looks great for the spooky tone of this episode! Incidentally, this is Clara’s third blue outfit in a row, leading me to wonder when we abandoned the vivid red Claras of earlier for these calm, cool, inward-looking young ladies. It’s almost a visual rebuke to the Doctor for seeing her only as the red adventuresses of earlier—those girls were red, sir, but this one is blue, so get your head together and consider the color symbolism.
Tumblr media
Oh. Or fuck me for trying, I guess. That works too. Who needs consistency, am I right?
Aside from me throwing myself out the window because the red keeps coming back but I can’t figure out WHY, this dress is a lot like Clara’s others. Her favorite pair of boots is back, and it’s quite buttoned-up and modest, if a little shorter than before. And the tightrope of bold-but-girly continues to be Clara’s calling card, with the minimal jewelry keeping her just on this side of not-too-dressed-up.
It’s telling that she stands out in this episode, though: she’s in stark opposition to the cold blues worn by the Doctor and his TARDIS, a visible antagonist as these two question and frighten her about her right to belong.
“The Crimson Horror” gives us two great Clara looks, which is great because holy shit look what they did to this skirt.
Tumblr media
I can’t quite explain what happened here, because for all the world it looks like they took apart a 1910s-style hobble skirt and  threw in a gradient underskirt for the solid reason of Why The Hell Not, but I love it despite it being bonkers-levels of  historically inaccurate.
Then there’s this.
Tumblr media
I LOVE THIS TOO, but character-wise I really have to grit my teeth because I don’t get why Clara, ordinary girl from the twenty-first as she seems to be, would have either the knowledge or the inclination to dress her hair in the elaborate fashions of the period.  But it’s a spot-on perfect dress, with none of the historic bumbling Rose managed on her first try. It lacks the super-puff sleeves of the 1890s, but I can live with it because of those fantastic little V’s down the front. It’s perfect.
Tumblr media
We’re back in red for “Nightmare in Silver,” and everything’s very much Normal Clara: the little heeled shoes, the slightly flared skirt, the tights and the tough jacket and the trim little collar. With stronger fabric choices, she looks more in control than ever; she’s developed slightly away from the girlishness of those high-low skirts, though that girly quality is still there in the short skirt. Her arc has not been consistently signaled so far in either silhouette or color choices, but this outfit marks Clara as being more in command than ever before.
Tumblr media
In the finale, she’s in same silhouette as last time, but new shoes (Clara seemingly adores footwear that combines heels, boots, and little oxford-y things into one package). Compared to her first modern outfit, she’s much more visually controlled—dark-hued, geometrically patterned, no more flounce or flutter. The color scheme is much more similar to the blue/green of the governess outfit, and red’s completely vanished—she couldn’t be farther from the saucy little barmaid act in “The Snowmen.” And yet by the end of the episode, she’s shattered into her—and into a girl with spikes on her jacket, and a girl dressed like Sarah Jane Smith, and a girl and a girl and a girl and a girl.......
Tumblr media
I can’t explain this. I’d love to say that Clara coalesces into a firm costume arc over the season, but I can’t find a clear arc without pushing my designer’s brain to untenable conclusions. Through costume, I watched Martha grow from a confident student to a warrior; I watched Rose grow from a thoughtless girl to a brave woman. River developed in ways that suggested where she was going and where she came from, despite the challenges of a plotline her costume designers couldn’t plan for. Series 7 Clara stretches my brain, and I still come up empty. Where was all that red going? Can a change so slight as “pretty girlish” to “a little less so” count as an arc? Did someone not tell Howard Burden the plot, so he couldn’t plan a clearer costume progression? What happened here????
Thankfully, Clara’s not done growing yet, though. Onto the specials!
Tumblr media
Clara begins "The Day of the Doctor” in, again, red. I quietly scream because red can be such a dramatic and weighty color and I hate seeing it just pop up for reasons I can’t make sense of. Clara ignores my protests and hops into her adventure.
Tumblr media
This outfit’s perfectly within the same realm as Clara’s previous gigs: heeled boots, check; black tights, check; small-print non-geometric pattern on lightweight fabric, all present sir; cheeky red and tough black jacket, reporting for duty. This outfit could have shown up any point in Series 7 and I would have accepted it. Clara’s working as a schoolteacher now (a very chic one), and the whole outfit reads as saucy and cute and just a little badass.
And then “Time of the Doctor.” Oh, I love the “Time of the Doctor” costumes. This is great. This is when Clara starts making sense.
Tumblr media
Clara gets two outfits in this: the cheeky yellow-sweater one, and the red-plaid-skirty one. They’re both very twee and pseudo-vintage and Britishy, which is very much in Clara’s realm so far, but they take what Clara’s already had and push it—heartily, extremely, and in a way it’ll never recover from—into bold new territory.
Tumblr media
Clara’s style has shifted in this episode. With the proud geometric plaid, the bright red hue, and the overall sharper fit, Clara has absolutely moved on from the girlishness from “The Rings of Akhaten” into something far more confident and controlled. There are significant details: the little infinity-symbols of her cardigan, the spikes on her necklace and bracelets, and the old-fashioned lace on her blouse make an unusual combo that finally distinguishes her from an H&M commercial. It’s strong and decisive, a little bit bossy, with boldness winning out over cute. Fashionable? Yeah! Modern? Always! But powerful, too, taking up the screen with tight shapes and controlled blocks of color.
Tumblr media
The yellow sweater and leather skirt hit the same notes. The feminine flutter of early Series 7 is truly gone; without changing Clara’s style completely, the smack-you-in-the-face mustard sweater and the edge of the leather angle her away from “feminine adventuress” into “adventurer femme.” The priorities shift. It’s the signal of where Clara is going from here—into deeper, darker territory.
Tumblr media
So, what do we take from this? Though Clara started out as a bit of a cipher—thanks to red dresses leading us in one direction, and then cute little floral pattern outfits taking us in another—over Series 7 Clara gradually came together as a bolder, more in-command character, and even started to develop a style of her own that verged beyond the norm. Where could that take us in Series 8? How will her costumes change to interact with an entirely new Doctor? Will I ever get to see that bird pendant necklace again? (yes.) Who knows! I’ll have to write a post about it!
Whatever happens, it’s going to be an awfully big adventure.
Tumblr media
[Got thoughts & questions? Come at me! I love talking about costume, and anyway I had to edit this post extensively to even get it to post, so I couldn’t even mention things people might wonder about. LORD I LOVE COSTUME DESIGN SO MUCH.]

The Agust D Costume (Dad!Yoongi x Reader)
Tumblr media
Admin: Mimi
Prompt/Ask: can i request some min yoongi fluff maybe something with him being your husband and father of your kids
Fandom: BTS
Genre: Fluff
Pairing: Yoongi x Reader
Warnings: None! I think lmao
Word Count: 2214
A/N: Fun fact: my mother’s nickname for me is Minnie too lol. Anyway, I’m a soft binch for Yoongi, especially Yoongi as a dad, so I loved doing this (even if I’m not too happy about it, but I never am with my fics lmao). Regardless, I’m so sorry for the wait as always, and I hope you don’t mind that I changed the prompt around to fit with Halloween! Happy reading!
Yoongi can recall the day you told him you were pregnant as if it happened yesterday; the fear that spiked through him when he thought of how soon it was for him to have a child, the shame of allowing it to happen, and even the refusal to admit that you were pregnant.
He felt much like a child himself in that moment, not ready to face another stage of adulthood just yet, but he had to suck it up for you and be a father. And in the blink of an eye you were in labour, and after a gruelling 11 hours Yoongi was holding the most beautiful baby girl in his arms with the gummiest grin he’s ever produced in his life. His fear, still lying beneath the surface, was now mixed with love and excitement – his very own flesh and blood sleeping soundly in his arms as he was now faced with the task of protecting her with his life.
Little Soomin, with a head of dark hair and equally as dark eyes, was the very reincarnation of Yoongi. A sleepy, quiet child, she only complained when there was a distinct lack of food in her tummy and when the world was too loud for her delicate ears, keeping an adorable pout much like her fathers on her face at all times.
Truthfully, she made the horrors of being a first time parent much easier for Yoongi, and he flew threw 4 years like a breeze, making memories left, right and centre with the one girl who owned his heart just as much as you did.
And when Soomin told him she wanted to dress up like her daddy for Halloween, he was charmed like a snake, and thought it would be the simplest thing to do. After all, he was Agust D, he knows what he wears. Not hard, right?
Unfortunately, for him, Soomin was just too picky.
“No, Daddy! Not that one!” she whined, huffing exaggeratedly and crossing her short arms, brows furrowed into a cute scowl. Yoongi sighed for the umpteenth time that day, placing the small grey hoodie back onto the rack monotonously, like he’s done the other 500 times. The workers in the clothing shop gave him looks of pity as they passed by, laughing in amusement at the father and daughter’s antics. He reckons he’s been stuck in the kids section of the shop for around an hour trying to help with choosing the right clothes to make her into a mini Agust D. Problem was she hated everything that made her look exactly like Agust D.
“Minnie, please,” he begged, fingers making their way towards his face and pinching the bridge of his nose in agitation. The bright colours of the children’s section were an eyesore, and his head was beginning to throb painfully in what he predicted would be the migraine of the century. “You wanted to be daddy for Halloween, this is what daddy wears,” he articulated, but the child was having none of it.
“No, that looks ugly,” she pouted, stomping her little foot, and Yoongi watched as the sketchers lit up in an array of flashing colours while he sighed quietly through his nose.
Again.
“Are you calling me ugly?” he asked simply, his mind failing to think up anything smarter, and instead smiled slightly at his daughter while he awaited her answer and tried to diminish the boiling in his blood from having to be in this section for so long.
Except if he was hoping for something as sweet as sugar, he wasn’t going to get it.
She is his daughter, after all.
“Yeah,” she said matter-of-factly, and he went slack jawed at her blunt response. Her dark eyes searched the racks of clothing, scanning over each and every piece she saw while her father stood dumbly by her side, mouth opening and closing in shock. He shook his head after a beat, scowling and mumbling incoherently under his breath.
Taking the opportunity while she was distracted, he slipped his sleek phone out from the front pocket of his ripped jeans and opened up his contacts, searching for your name as if it were second nature. After three rings you answered, the faint sound of rustling in the background reaching Yoongi’s ears.
“Yello,” you mumbled over the lollipop in your mouth, and Yoongi rolled his eyes. He knew you’d steal something.
“The sweets are supposed to be kept for the kids, you know,” he droned, and you made a scoffing sound in return, the lollipop leaving your mouth as you smacked your lips.
“Hello to you too,” you said sarcastically. “And I’m an adult, I can do whatever I want. I can just buy more,” you explained, and Yoongi sighed once more at your childishness. Why were the women in his life so troublesome? What did he do to deserve this?
Ignoring your comment, Yoongi ploughed straight ahead with the one thing he wanted to say since you answered your phone.
“Help.”
You laughed loudly, your cackles echoing through the receiver and straight through Yoongi’s brain, his irritation spiking even further when you unexpectedly called over Hoseok to the phone.
“What’s he doing there?” Yoongi asked, jealousy spiking through him. The two of you were probably going to eat all the sweets! He wouldn’t even get to have any. He silently prays neither of you found his hidden stash underneath the kitchen sink.
“He’s helping me cook dinner, I couldn’t cook for nine all by myself. You’re on loud speaker, say hi!” He heard Hoseok’s boisterous greeting through the phone, so loud, that he had to place the phone some distance away from his face to protect his eardrums.
“Go away, Hobi,” he drawled, and smirked when Hoseok began to whine like a baby missing its toy. “Anyway, as I was saying, I need help.”
“Yoongi, babe, it’s not that hard,” you laughed, Hoseok following suit as you revelled in Yoongi’s misery. “You’re Agust D, I would think you would know what you wear,” you remarked, slurping the lollipop obnoxiously.
“Funny,” Yoongi deadpanned, eyes trained on his daughter as she looked through the shelves lined with shoes. “Would be pretty easy if she didn’t hate every single thing I showed her.”
“I find that hard to believe,” Hoseok commented. “She always likes the things I get her. She never has any problem then.” Yoongi bit his lip from saying something rude about how smug Hoseok sounded right now, but you, ever his font of love and support, saved him.
“That’s because she’s as cute as a button around her uncles and strangers. She doesn’t want to seem anything less than saintly. But around us, that’s a different story altogether. Around us, she’s more comfortable, so she can be as assertive as she wants. Isn’t that right, Yoongs?”
“Yeah,” he agreed, giving a laugh of disbelief. “She called me ugly.”
There was a beat of silence before Yoongi had to tear his phone away again from his ears, some workers in the store even turning their heads at the loud crackling sound emitting from his device. You and Hoseok laughed loudly for around a minute straight until it died down to stupid giggles, his face etched into a scowl as he awaited a chance to speak.
“Oh, oh my god,” you breathed, snickers overcoming you once more while Hoseok simply guffawed and clapped like a seal beside you. “That is the best thing I heard all year. I love her, my offspring is so perfect, she’s amazing. Thank you Yoongi for helping me create her. Fantastic, 10/10,” you babbled, Yoongi tutting into the receiver.
“Any time,” he replied cheekily, and vaguely heard Hoseok squawking about preserving his innocence. “But seriously, help me. Everything that looks even remotely Agust D, she hates it, and doesn’t want to wear it. Says it ‘isn’t right’, or something. I don’t know what to do,” he mutters dismally, heaving a sigh that lifted his shoulders.
“Did you try asking if she wanted to be something else for Halloween?” Hoseok suggested, and Yoongi made a noise of agreement.
“Yeah, but she’s dead set on being Agust D. That idea went completely over her head. Halloween will be ruined if she’s not dressed as daddy, apparently,” he reiterated, feeling weary and exhausted. He just wanted to go home and eat his candy.
You hummed and went quiet while Hoseok listed off different suggestions distractedly, but Yoongi knew you well enough to know you were thinking this through carefully. Your intelligence and thoughtfulness were one of the things he love most about you, after all. You spoke up after a moment of contemplation.
“Let her.”
“What?” both Yoongi and Hoseok asked simultaneously, and you laughed lightly, clearing your throat.
“Let her pick the clothes she wants. Let her create her own version of Agust D. She wants to be you, but let her create her own identity. A mini Agust D prototype. I’m surprised you didn’t think of this early, Yoongs,” you chided gently, and Yoongi felt a wave of shame wash over him. Why didn’t he think of this earlier? He nodded, quickly adding ‘yeah, I guess’ when he remembered you couldn’t see him. “Hmm. Now, hurry up and get her costume sorted, I want both my babies back home in time for dinner? Capiche?”
His face flushed at the pet name, knowing Hoseok most likely heard it, but he confirmed that he will return home to you soon, now that he knows what to do.
“I love you!”
“Shut up, Hobi.”
Hanging up quickly and placing the phone back into his pocket, he headed towards where Soomin was standing, browsing through the vast selection of jeans on the racks. He patted her head softly, and she gazed up at him with wide eyes.
“See anything you like?” he asked, and she grinned a big, near toothless smile, pointing towards a pair of baggy jeans with little dark patchwork designs in the holes on them. Right, not bad. He could work with that. He flashed her his own gummy smile, and took a pair in her size. “Nice choice, Minnie,” he complimented, and watched as she glowed underneath her father’s praise, his own heart swelling with happiness at the sight of her.
“Alright, what next? What else do you think Agust D wears?”
Her chubby fingers grabbed his slender ones and tugged him towards the jackets, picking up a purple hoodie with silver sparkles running through it, the light bouncing against it in every direction. At least it was a hoodie, he thinks, as he takes it from her and asks what’s the next item of clothing she requires.
She all but threw a tiny pair of silver converse in his face, small voice emitting a ‘sorry Daddy!’ before she was running off towards the hats and picking up a black bucket hat. Yoongi was dumbfounded at that; he expected her to pick up just a regular baseball cap. “Nice choice,” he said, slightly impressed at her taste in hats, and she merely gave a smug smirk too similar to his own in response, causing him to shake his head. Honestly, why couldn’t she have gotten more of your traits, other than the annoying ones?
Heading to the cash register, he listened to his daughter’s excited ramblings about Halloween and her outfit, placing the items on the countertop as he lifted her up into his arms. The woman behind the register rose an eyebrow at the choice of clothing, an uneasy smile on her face as she looked up at him, but he simply gave her a cold look, one that had her cowering and ducking her head, scanning the clothing as fast as she could. If his baby wanted to wear those clothes, she could. No two ways about it. Paying the total that the clothes came to, he grabbed the bag and walked out of the shop, Soomin’s arms linking around his neck as she rested her head on his shoulder.
“Will I make a good Agust D?” she questioned, and Yoongi chuckled lowly, squeezing her close to him as he walked.
“You’re going to be the best Agust D,” he stated, tone soft as cotton, a tone only reserved for his girls. “Even better than the man himself.”
She nodded her head slightly, clutching him even tighter than before and feeling pleased at his words, hiding her smile in his neck, but Yoongi wasn’t fooled. He could feel the Cheshire grin against his skin.
“Daddy, can we get some hot chocolate please?” she asked quietly, and Yoongi knew resisting her was futile at this point. So, he nodded, heading towards the closest coffee shop with her as she planted a soft kiss upon his cheek, and Yoongi smiled stupidly. He couldn’t resist her any better than he could resist you.
Maybe that’s what she picked up from you.
“After we have dinner later with all your uncles, I hid some candy for us to eat later, just the two of us. Sound good?” he asked, pushing open the glass café doors with one hand as he balanced his child in the other.
“Oh, Mommy and I already ate those, Daddy.”
“Wait, what?!”

Season 2 Episode 14- Floundering Finale
It’s no secret that I think these designers stumbled to the finish line this season.  Unfortunately, Daniel, Chloe, and Santino really didn’t step it up going into the finale and we got three fairly underwhelming collections. None of the collections A) felt like full collections or B) had any surprising wow pieces.  This made it feel like I could take any look from one collection and throw it into the other and it would fit in.  Everything was just “fine”.
3. Daniel V.
Oof what a disappointment this was.  Daniel seemed to be the preordained winner of the season, but this collection was just a conglomerate of mall wear with a few “fancy dresses” with ugly appliques. There were certain flashes of brilliance, but he had too many starting points and never really went anywhere with any of them. It was such a shame to see Daniel fall so hard, but guess what?  We all done known this!!! He wasn’t that great on the season and this collection showed that.
Tumblr media
Serving you Blanche Deveroux realness.  Tacky floral? Check.  Shoulder pads? Check.  Fit and flair? Check.  Congratulations you’ve made your first grandma jacket!
The skirt is nothing.
Tumblr media
The boring daughter of the woman in the first look.  I can get that top at J.Crew, Gap, Macy’s, literally any department store.  There is no design here.
Tumblr media
This is a cute coat, and had he run in this direction I think he could have eeked out the win because the judges really loved him.  The collar is wonderful and it is impeccably made.  the silhouette is gorgeous, too.
Tumblr media
And we’re back to mall wear.  The only part that is remotely designed are the shoulder straps.  Yawn.
Tumblr media
I agree with Michael Kors, I want to rip that thing off of her chest.  The pleating on the bottom is cute but still boring.
Tumblr media
Had this shirt been a mini dress I would have loved it, but it isnt.  The top is cute, but once again the skirt is nothing.  I also hate the two together, especially with the boots.
Tumblr media
Where did this come from?  It has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of his collection.  Had this been in the same cool tones I would have given it a pass, but changing the pallet and design details is too much.  I actually really like the pants but, as we know, I hate the under boob scoop.
Tumblr media
Oh look! He took my advice and made his shirt and skirt a mini dress for his thirteenth look.  This is cute and totally in line with the best pieces in his collection.  It isn’t shown here but I love the cowl neck back to these pieces.  I would have switched this piece and the previous piece in his lineup for a smoother transition.
Tumblr media
I want to like this but I just can’t.  Each piece individually is cute but all together it gets a bit costume, like someone on a Disney show.  Had he gotten rid of the purple sweater, which is a nothing piece already, it would have been much more successful.  But again with the damn chest patch.
Tumblr media
There were strokes of greatness in this collection. I absolutely love this top, it is so soft and delicate, the best parts of Daniel’s designs.  The pants are wonky but at least there is design there.
Tumblr media
J. Crew Outlet
Tumblr media
I like it but once again it does not fit with his collection.  No where else has he played with transparent volume or monotone multi-piece looks.  I like that he played with volume and top and on bottom, but was able to balance it out by keeping it body con in the middle.
Tumblr media
This dress is horrendous from beginning to end and not what I would want to leave in the mind of the public and the judges. The patch needs to go, but past that there are many more issues.  The color is so blah and the two browns do not mesh well.  All of the detail in the back looks very western, like cowboy boot or saloon door details.  Mess all around.
2. Santino
Santino created a lot of beautiful dresses for his finale collection, but he showed very little range.  It was quite boring and after a while and a lot of the pieces began to blend together.  That being said, there were no truly bad pieces in his collection but it didn’t feel like a full runway show to me.
Tumblr media
This is a gorgeous gown but it doesn’t give me the oomph I need from an opener.  The proportions are great and make the model look super tall and I love the fabrics he chose. It’s just a bit safe.
Tumblr media
This is cute and fun.  I love the leather pants, they add an edge to an extremely saccharine look.  The top is cute as well, I just wanted some more oomph again.
Tumblr media
Everyone on Project Runway has created this dress, and it’s normally in a quick or unconventional challenge.  I don’t need this in a 13 piece collection.  Love the color though.  Why this was in the middle of his maroon and pink looks I will never know.
Tumblr media
Yawn.  At least the blue dress was made well. What is up with the hem.
Tumblr media
It’s a beautiful slip dress with a wonky back.
Tumblr media
For the 13th look it was more designed than any of the previous 3 looks.  Still, it needs even more.  Maybe if the lace was in a different tone than the dress?
Tumblr media
This one I love. The jumpsuit is nice but the star here is the cape.  It falls beautifully around her shoulders and arms and scoops around her neck wonderfully.  The only problem is that this should be a low point in a collection in terms of amount of design, not a high.
Tumblr media
She’s a majorette. The dress is ok but that jacket is hideous.  The horizontal lines are cutting her off at too many places.I
Tumblr media
I love the sudden pop of super saturation.  It’s the same cut on top as many of his other dresses but I enjoy the mix of fabrics.  I wish he had continued that into the skirt.
Tumblr media
And then this comes out of nowhere in the collection.  I kind of enjoy it just because I was so bored by everything else.  I don’t think he used the right fabric for the skirt or sleeves, it has too much structure for what he wanted.  I would have loved to see more of this leather work in his collection, but overall it’s a bit too Ren Fair.
Tumblr media
I. Love. This. Fabric.  He only used it in 2 pieces but I would have loved it in about 5 or 6.  And he knows how to work with it.  The way it flows around her body and drapes down is amazing. The pleating is amazing. I need Santino to stay in this lane because this is where his strength lies.
Tumblr media
His blue dress but in puce.  I like the lines of the trim though and it seems much better executed.
Tumblr media
Yes yes yes yes yes yes.  He should have opened with this look and gone from there because this is by far the best look in the collection.  The extra drape in the front is such a beautiful and understated edition.  I just love it, possibly the best look of all 3 collections.
1. Chloe
Chloe deserved to win just because of the lack of imagination of Daniel and Santino.  Still, it isn’t the best collection in the history of the show.
Tumblr media
She had the best opener of any of the finalists.  It is fun, cool, and most importantly, interesting. It’s a new take on a classic coat dress.
Tumblr media
I haaaaate this print.  I have never been a fan of dark green and pink and the floral looks dated, even for 2005. The actual dress is cute and a lot of girls would rock that silhouette.
Tumblr media
The same ugly fabric but in a much more boring silhouette.
Tumblr media
I’ve been on the fence about this dress, but I’m coming down on the side of quite liking it.  The pleating on the bottom are something I’ve never seen before and I like the folding detailing of the shoulder.  The fabric and sleeve length make it a bit grandma but overall its a success.
Tumblr media
This is cute. The fabric could have easily gone grandam but the cuts make it young and fresh.  The dress is cute but the shrug is amazing.  The way the two pieces make a cutout in the back is sublime.  She did a great job with volume in this collection.
Tumblr media
This look I don’t like as much.  It’s a little too stiff and stuffy and doesn’t match the easier fun attitude of the previous looks.  The tuxedo stripe is problematic, she tried to be different by angling it to the pockets but it doesn’t work.
Tumblr media
The same boring dress Santino made twice.  The fabric is way too thick and stiff, it looks like maternity wear.  You can tell this was her 13th look.
Tumblr media
From the waist up I like it, a chic little cocktail dress.  The color is also extremely rich.  The fit and flair leaves a bit to be desired just because I’ve seen it so much.  I wish should have taken the pleating from her 4th look and added it to more pieces, maybe this one.
Tumblr media
In my opinion, the printed pieces in her collection were the least successful.  The lace up top looks costumey and the shirt hits the model and an odd length, accentuating her hips.
Upon closer inspection it may not be a print but a lace overlay an odd choice considering the abundance of solids and lack of lace in the rest of her collection.
Tumblr media
I have no clue where anyone would wear this dress.  The front is too stuffy for a cocktail party but the back is completely inappropriate for the workplace.  I love the power of the cobalt blue though, she looks powerful.  The seams on the front make her look extremely tall and lean.
Tumblr media
I am really not responding well to the print’s that she chose.  This looks like random islands or a deconstructed globe.  Aside from that it is the same basic empire waist dress I’ve been harping on, but this time in a maxi.
Tumblr media
I don’t mind the print as much here because a lot of the focus is on the gorgeous cobalt blue.  The sleeves and back make this dress.  The rest is a bit underwhelming.
Tumblr media
This is a strong second to last dress, but I would never use it as a closer.  This shows a restrained and edited design eye but doesn’t scream “this is who I am as a designer”.  I really have no issues with the actual dress, and the back is fantastic.
A well deserved win for Chloe, even if it was by default.

Suspenders? What are suspenders? Lol at my tendency to dress my characters in things I can’t draw cx once again sorry for picture quality. Anyhow, here’s August! Read on if you’d like to learn about her~
Name: August Shaw Age: 25 DoB: 11/22 Height: 5'4 Weight: 137lbs Blood type: A+ Orientation: Panromantic Demisexual Occupation: Street performer, pro hero, field medicine instructor at U.A.
Quirk: Healing Tears/Empathic sight - Her quirk is centered around her eyes. Her tears can be used to fully heal minor wounds or partially heal more sever ones through direct application. Ingesting them increases vitality and cures things like stomach upset and heartburn. She can create them near to constantly if she has a source of water to stave off dehydration but prolonged use causes headaches and blurry vision. They keep for 24 hours before losing potency unless frozen. In addition she can see the aura of emotions projected around people and influence or change the emotions of anyone she is making eye contact with. Both the aura vision and empathy are activated quirks with seprate ranges. She can see the aura of anyone within her line of sight and even catch a faint glow through walls and other objects with enough focus but can only influence people within fifty meters of herself unless she bursts the ability, increasing the area affect to 300 meters but losing precision. She does not willingly use this ability often because it is both mentally taxing and affects not only her intended target but everyone within the area.
Hero Name: The Gentle Hero, Angel Eyes
About her costume: Simple in design and soft in color she wanted a welcoming but distinct look that still offered full body coverage. Powder blue and baby pink gaind her the nickname Pastel when she was interning. The most interesting part of her outfit would have to be her goggles, created with small wells inside that collect her tears so that she can funnel them into the vials along her belt. -additionally, she fights with a bo staff or using hand to hand combat.
Some more info! -Born and raised in California, she has extended family in Australia and England -She doesn’t quite have a good hang on Japanese yet, can’t read kanji for the life of her. She does know a fair amount of French however -Registered nurse, she recieved her bachelor’s degree from the same school as Aiko at 21. -Ballerina from age six to present, though she practiced less seriously once she got on the hero track, she enjoys other styles of dance as well -Never had a really flashy debut, she’s not very flashy in general, but she received attention after using her quirk to locate several civilians trapped underground after a villain attack. Her fans often say it’s her gentle look and soft spoken demeanor that really catches their attention amongst the normal heroic bravado.
Likes -Birds! -Dancing, especially free form -Coffee anything -Table Tennis -Interesting soap -Google maps -Science! Dislikes -Spicy foods -Unclear directions -Sudden, loud noises -Crossing busy intersections -Skipping showers -Large crowds -Boredom Personality -Mom friend 100% -Gentle -Sweet -Intelligent -Quick witted -Timid -Nervous -Humble (often to the point of self depreciation) -Pushover -Clingy -Introverted Health -Physically the picture of health. She can’t remember the last time she had so much as a runny nose and she attributes it mostly as a side effect of her quirk. She does however suffer from achy ankles and knees, especially when it gets cold, and needs supports in her shoes for her feet since ballet has done quite a number on them. -Mentally she has a lot of fortitude, has built it up over the years. She often takes on the emotional burdens of others and sometimes finds it easier to manage the emotions of others rather than herself.  She does suffer from anxiety and struggles with selfhatred, specifically centered around feelings of inadequacy and her perception of the empathic part of her quirk. Most of these are tied to the same event from her sophomore year of high school. When her then best friend was struck and killed by a bus running to meet her one morning the overwhelming shock, horror, and despair triggered her quirks’ burst ability, until then unknown, and sent the majority of her school into a frenzy of despair and confusion. She was reprimanded and ostracized for the event, losing the vast majority of her friends and isolated until the others left as well, believing herself a monster lacking in control. It’s taken a lot of work getting her to a place where she can use her power of influence at all and she uses it very sparingly. She hates the thought of causing people pain and fears that if she slips up everyone will leave her again, she’ll deserve that again. She’s a little more attached to Aiko than she probably should be and gets nervous when they’re out of contact for too long. Afraid of abandoment while also believing herself worthy of it.
Style -Cute! She loves cute things and cute style. Lots of pastels, fluff, bows, things that scream sweet and soft. She prefers skirts and dresses to pants but almost always wears shorts underneath since she does street dancing with Aiko. A-line is her favorite style but poodle is a close second. In winter she wears those thick, long ones. Suspenders are a favorite acessory and she likes cute collared blouses with ruffled sleves or cute bowties. Cardigans are a go to for milder chills and when it’s really cold all of her sweaters have cute patterns on them. When it comes to shoes she wears cute, soft slip ons, tennis shoes, or boots. Heels tend to hurt a bit too much and most don’t work well with her inserts. She will, on ocassion wear wedges though. Curious about lolita style but a lil offput by prices. Over all just an adorable woman~
