Time for a long overdue introduction!
I'm Canis/Canid (you can always just call me 'Sirenium' if that's easier!). I am a namehoarder, as well as namefluid, so I tend to prefer different names at different times (I will attempt to stick to a certain pair of names per theme) I'm 18, have ADHD, and am autistic. My pronouns are in my bio, but for the sake of convenience my current preferred ones are it/its, they/them, cor/corpse, haunt/haunts, and hallow/hallows (among others). I cannot keep a consistent theme for the life of me, lol. Despite my current theme, I am not wolf kin; I am werewolf kin, among other kins.
My interests include, but are (just barely) not limited to, the Sonic franchise (I now have a specific tag for sonic related content. It's #random self indulgent sonic related post, and I went through and tagged [hopefully] every sonic related post with it), The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom, music, and LGBTQ+/xenogender flags.

Here, we believe that there's no such thing as an invalid queer identity, and this encompasses lesboys, m-spec lesbians, gaybians, and anything else that people hate for no reason. We are pro endo, believe that pronouns and presentation don't necessarily equal gender, anti capitalism (especially rainbow capitalism), pro-choice, pro self diagnosis, are of the opinion that PCOS can be an intersex condition (but honestly it's up to the individual to identify as such), queer isn't a slur (though I don't immediately jump to demonizing those who think it is, bc there are certainly older people who've had that word used against them in a derogatory way), xenogenders aren't transphobic, paraphile≠abuser, and more that I don't feel are necessary to state on this blog.

hmm... had to think about this for a while and talk about it with co-author, but here's what we got. we mostly base this stuff on how plausible it is in show/if there's evidence for it. with a dash of personal experience. This only applies to residuum, btw. I have different personal headcanons for these characters outside the comic.
april: lesbian. this is mostly based off of the fact that most aprils get with their caseys & the comment she said to dale. which could be taken as disinterest in dale specifically, but she seemed more concerned with impressing that popular girl earlier and that reads as more... saphic, i suppose. or at the very least homoromantic.
raph: raph is just raph. we look at him and basically just *tv static*. go crazy. all we got is jokes or stuff that has too little evidence to support. so, yeah, he's whatever you want him to be i guess?
leo: trans. already said my reason in the other post. also, gay. if gay were a power source he could power the entirety of the united states for five months straight without a single power outage. failing power grid notwithstanding (< thats the actual word. its supposed to be mushed together like that. wack.).
donnie: as much as i'd like him to be ace/aro spectrum rep, he just doesn't have the evidence in show for us to apply it to him in this comic. it's funny, for being hc as ace so often he sure is the most outwardly romantic/sexual turtle in the show lmao. one! cherry: "you're so cute, but you're so mean! why do i always go for your type?" two! astrogirl?? Thanks for all the support! I wasn't expecting this project to get so popular. For this update I've made things much neater, they're organised by date first shown (hopefully) to see how her wardrobe has changed over time. name explanations and more info below :3
basic stuff
-each agency is a clan, not each unit. 14-15 clans would be silly and then we would have some clans with 5 cats and some with 2.
-starpro -> lightclan. i couldn’t call them “starclan” for obvious reasons. light is somewhat synonymous with star, so i’m going with that.
-cospro -> nightclan. i don’t think the cats in warriors know the word “cosmic”, but cosmic implies cosmos implies night sky, so we’re going with night
-rhyth lin -> rippleclan. ripple is sort of a synonym to rhythm….? this one was hard
-new di -> fortuneclan. this one is a stretch but neither “new” or “dimension” have synonyms that really fit a clan name. fortune is something that relates to multiple characters in new di though
-starclan still sort of exists, but the cats do not believe in them the way they do in warriors. they are more of a nursery tale than anything, and select cats (ex: tatsumi) believe in them, but it is not written into their code. medicine cats can still interpret signs, but they do not necessarily think of them as coming from starclan.
-medicine cat forbidden romance is not a thing here
-intermingling of clans is ok and common
-there’s like. other cats in their clans besides just the enstars cast i assume

-tsukasa -> scarletstar (scarletblossom) . he is the leader of fortuneclan because he is one of the new di reps for the summits. both scarlet and blossom were chosen bc of his last name (scarlet is a red color… kinda similar to cherry…. and blossom for the cherry blossom).
-leo -> lionheart. ok this one is kind of cheating because lionheart is already an existing warrior, but…come on….
-izumi -> silverspring. sora describes his color as silver, and spring is in his first name
-ritsu -> frostmoon. his first name means cold moon according to the wiki so i just rehashed it
-naru -> goldenroar. since she doesn’t like her first name i didn’t want to use “storm”, and her last name can be read as “thunder” but that’s a little too close to storm? so golden for her hair and roar for her last name
switch
-natsume -> sageeye. a sage is similar to a wizard, and eye is in his first name . also the “dovesong” mentioned is wataru :)
-tsumugi -> bluewing. he is a bluebird. warrior cats probably wouldn’t straight up call a cat “bluebird” so i put wing there instead. deputy cause he’s the vp
-sora -> skyspring . sora means sky. spring is in his last name. i could have used “stream” instead to differentiate him from sena but i think spring is cuter

Hold up, I just realized that watching a show shouldn’t be a chore.
Like- You’re supposed to be entertained? Every time I start a show, I see it as a task. I avoided rewatching Lego ninjago because I didn’t want something I loved years ago to become another chore.
But I’m rewatching it and- it’s fun??? I’m invested?? I’m catching myself laughing and if I try to multitask I’ll pause and focus on whats happening?
And then I realized that’s the purpose of watching a show in the first place. If you dislike something so much that your mind calls it a chore, why are you watching it?

ive seen ppl saying smth in the wider plagiarism discussion to the tune of "don't worry anxious people, it's impossible to accidentally plagiarize!" and i feel like that lacks a lot of nuance that anxious brains like mine latch on to to just dismiss the possibility outright, as well as a lack of life experiences fueling it.
it is possible to "accidentally plagiarize" in that you can read something, forget about it, then a while later have your brain spit the ideas back out without telling where it got them. so of course you just assume they're yours and share them as such, because That's Where Most Of The Thoughts In Your Head Come From! and it both is and isn't plagiarism, you weren't /intending/ to pass someone's else's work off as your own, i'd even say in a way you were just as much a victim of misinformation as your audience. but you very much so did still resuse the work of someone else, even if you don't remember it.
but in my experience, this kind of thing also happens to a lot of people. you tell a friend a joke then wake up in a cold sweat two days later realizing the reason they didnt laugh was because they'd told you that joke a month ago. you reply to a friend's text and after sending you realized you ended it with the same exact phrase as theirs. you're writing edgy poetry and write a line you really like only to see it in a text post two days later saying youve already liked the post. like, it happens. so if it DOES happens and you're just honest and explain, people will understand. something like "oh shit im sorry, i totally have read that, i mustve forgotten and only remembered bits and pieces and just thought they were mine. thank you for letting me know and for the source" works wonders.
people know you can forget things. people won't automatically doubt your apology just because all true plagiarists say it was accidental. HOPEFULLY people can understand the nuance between a genuine remorseful explanation, and a thief who hoped no one would find out scrambling for excuses for why they did it. and those who can't, that's a them problem, not a you problem, you've taken responsibility for your actions as much as you can. they think the answer is simple, that the only thing stopping you from saying "yes i did it on purpose, i knew the whole time and deliberately copied them" is shame/inability to admit to your actions. but sometimes things AREN'T that simple, so imo ppl who are shitty to you for not following the script they made up for you in their head should be ignored
#youre allowed to make up scripts for people in fact good luck stopping yourself since thats kinda just part of how conversation works#is you try to predict how your audience will react to a certain statement#and my therapist actually encouraged me to practice run stuff i wanna talk about in sessions because That Makes It Easier To Talk About#like who cares if it's rehearsed‚ it's still the truth‚ yknow?#however that only applies to the things /you/ want to say. you are the only one aware of this script and the only one who agreed to it in#the first place which is why you plan contingencies into the script#is because you only have control over one character and can only take guesses at what the others might say#if you guess wrong and they do something different that doesnt mean /theyre/ not following the script#it means /your/ copy was a misprint and you filled in the blanks wrong. so do what good actors do and improvise. you'll get back on script#eventually. or not‚ if your guesses devolved into wildly speculative fanfiction‚ but frankly you knew going into it that#most of your script was guesswork so you should be prepared to have to make some things up on the fly#or see again: prepare contingencies#if your guesswork on your copy of the script turns out to be wrong‚ wouldnt it be sooo handy to have a second copy which follows this#version of events much better?#and if not that one‚ maybe this third? how about this fourth? etc etc etc#but really just. when guessing at what others will say. know that you are guessing and dont hold it against /them/ if youre wrong#sorry ik that wasnt super related to the post itself im just also passionate abt that#plagiarism#james somerton

also I had a breakthrough today that I had in fact overthought a Specific Problem to Death and that I had created a monster in my own mind and that’s why it felt like I was being eaten alive every time I tried to solve it.
#not to put too fine a point on it but that’s what happened with the whole is Maria going to become a nun question tbh#and I needed a counselor to say to me objectively and yet also crucially without any knowledge of me or my past:#you have overthought this and now you’re terrified of it#anyway it’s so obvious but it came home to me today. slowly.#like it was just like. Oh. You did it again#you’re terrified of this because you have thought of every possibility and every outcome and every twist and turn and shadow—-#until it has become a bloated demon in your mind that is totally separated from reality#while made up of real facts and details! and tbh I know it’s a common problem#but the anxiety chokehold I can put myself in is something that is so impressive and so disturbing#I can render myself absolutely helpless through the meanderings of my own thoughts#and what makes it worse—immeasurably worse—is that I get OUT of problems through careful thought and analysis#I’m programmed that way#so I can’t escape it by the usual means. I have to back away from the monster and see it and NAME it and then it can die away.#and only THEN can I apply my usual ways of going about things. I don’t know it just all clicked today#these past few days have just been bringing it all to a fever pitch for me#anyway I guess it’s also important to me that I still be allowed to be analytical about it!!! I have to use my brain!!!!!!!#in my desperation I have tried to shut it off to feel only with my heart. To try to catch the whisper of God’s voice in the wind#but tbh I am meant to use the gifts I have! Also, vaguely tangential to yesterday's post... Part of the reason I think pushing back on the whole "Edward literally has no friends" is worthwhile is tied up in the themes / messages from the show.
If we take Edward literally (and accept a few very common assumptions from the same general school of meta), then the OFMD writers are telling a classic and rightly criticized story where happiness is tied to the love of your life sweeping you away from everything you've known. Edward had no meaningful bonds in his life before Stede, no one who he could be even somewhat himself with in a way that mattered to him. Just a sea of distant subordinates and endless expectation of violence. His only escape was meeting his soulmate, at which point he can just cut loose his entire existence prior to that moment because it doesn't mean anything. He's got a true love now, and his love's new lifestyle and hobbies with his love's new friends, while everything we see from before - his life as Blackbeard, piracy, captaincy, Izzy Hands - is actively making him miserable and contains nothing worth salvaging.
And that's a terrible message?
Like, if this story is deliberating hitting a lot of relatable struggles - mental health, discrimination, loneliness (especially in middle age) - what is it offering for anyone who doesn't meet their stars-aligning, fireworks-exploding soulmate? Edward has probably lived through over half his life already, and the verdict is "Well, there was no Stede yet so it was just a chasm of loneliness he tried to ignore from childhood to about 45 😘"? That's so bleak. Just because you reskin the princess locked in a tower to be a gay poc pirate doesn't mean I stop noticing the prince charming storyline - or the appalling lack of agency and independent life that the princess has. The savior prince is uncritically the only thing that matters in her his existence, and it's gross.
Stede, at least, gets to make the decision to start improving his life on his own, and they directly address both how he fucked up leaving in the middle of the night and how he actively contributed to his own social isolation due to his issues. Stede could have made efforts to improve his life years before, without running away to sea. It's still tragic and inspirational and sympathetic for him to be doing this now, but it's not the hopeless message that he was just doomed to suffering until outside forces intervened.
I want Edward to have genuine friendships (even if they're a bit battered) and genuine meaning (even if it's lost a bit of shine recently) in his life before Stede, because the alternative is another story about how only true love matters and if you are unhappy still waiting for it - get fucked, I guess?

yknow yakuza 4 is a lot more enjoyable the less seriously you take it
#same goes for dead souls but I think (at least I HOPE) that’s a given#like the ending is overdramatic and theatrical and it’s more fun when you accept it for what it is#don’t get me wrong it’s got it’s serious moments too but just. overall. The Yakuza 4 are pretty silly#rambling#I see a lot of hate for y4 for usually reasons that are understandable (the plot being not the best and also kinda messy)#but like. idk. i don’t care that much#no shit I wouldn’t rank it high amongst other rgg games for its story. but it’s got it’s charming aspects and introduces some Major#characters- mostly doing so pretty well#I guess this is an overall thing you can apply to most games really. most of the time it’s like. not that serious

look. not to get sappy on main but like.
call it cringe call it silly call it whatever you want but do you know what it felt like to be a depressed teenager and hear the doctor say “do you know, in 900 years of time and space, i’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before”?
cause let me tell you, hearing that… there are whole years of my life that i barely remember because of my depression. chunks of my time on earth that i’ll probably never get back. but i do remember watching that damn special because it meant something to me, even in that fog.
#emotional about dr who tonight#dr who#doctor who#prof rambles#my life#mental health#no but see the dw marketing team knows their audience. the writers know their audience the actors know their audience#this shows been going on for a damn long time and there is a consistent trend of like. people ages 9-25 who are extremely depressed#not that there aren’t other fans obviously but that is a Large demographic and it always has been to some extent#i have friends parents who were into dr who in the 60s and 70s and that was a big demographic even then#and anyway my point is: they put that line in there for the fans because they knew it would mean something to hear the doctor say that#and that just like drives me crazy like the. i guess the inherent kindness of having a beloved character say something that’s in character!!#but like also very much vague enough to apply to the audience#it’s like having kirk say ‘hang on tight and survive. everybody does’. and that always sustained me as a depressed child#because i watched star trek tos religiously and still do#anyway#shoutout to showrunners and writers and marketing people and actors and everyone who makes a show#for seeing their fanbase of young mentally ill people and saying here#have this character that is amazing and that you love say this really motivational and loving thing#idk it’s nice#and just a good line in general#yeah#that’s all#byeeeee living up to my prof RAMBLES tag
