in year 11 one of our core topics for modern history was cuba and one of the key subtopics was the missile crisis & this just so happened to coincide with round 3 of my intense xmcu hyperfixation and let me tell you. i used that shit as an excuse to watch xmen first class so many fucking times.
#the dots were barely connected but the relationship between a fifteen(16?) year old girl and her hyperfixation cannot be downplayed#i got an a anyway#i mean not bc of the xmen. Because i was a teachers pet & history was my favourite + best subject and i love Cold War history#i’m sharing this cause i almost added xmen movies to that 9 fave movies post but i thought I’d keep my superhero bs out of it#also cause i saw something that reminded me of my old teacher a while ago and i’ve been…. pensive… ever since#i was the HISIE department’s teacher pet they all thought I’d go to uni for history and were disappointed when i said i’d picked law instead#one said i’d be unhappy with it (he was an ex lawyer turned history teacher) and you know what.. he was right.#too late to turn back now though lmao but i do regret it

the older i get and the closer i am to reaching 30, the more the people around me try to deny me my age. it’s a constant ‘oh you’re just turning 29 again teehee 🤭’ or ‘dont tell your SO that, he’ll leave you for a younger model 😉’ and i just???? hate it?????????
i spent my entire teenaged years fighting for my life. i crawled through the deepest pits of my depression to cling to the promise of a life beyond that pain. i was so convinced that i was going to die young, that i would never see the grace of my age starting with a 2, let alone 3.
so im going to turn 30, and there’s not a damn thing anyone can do to stop me from loving it.

guys I had this realization the other day that Redwall works really well for reading aloud, and kinda half-remembered something about the author reading to kids? So I looked it up to see if I had made a connection.
And it turns out, yes, actually, because he read aloud to kids at a school for the blind. But all the books they gave him to read were depressing. So he wrote Redwall, a story about heroism and courage and making it through struggles, and filled it with so many sensory, visual details so he could give them something better and I just-- that's so wholesome-- help

Listen. There is a list of actual plant fibers that are directly made into fabric: cotton, linen, ramie, some hemp. I’m sure I’m missing a couple.
But if you’re wondering “huh how did they turn that plant material into fabric,” 99% of the time? It’s RAYON.
All rayon is made by putting plant material in chemical soup, dissolving out everything but the cellulose, and turning the cellulose into filaments/fibers.
The source of the cellulose has zero effect on the eventual fabric.
Rayon made from bamboo or eucalyptus or seaweed is not any better than rayon from any other sources.
Don’t let companies mislead you!
