lokispreading (verb): this chair is your chair, you deserve this chair. make sure everyone understands that this is your chair, not anyone else's chair. you were born to sit here, whatever those fools might think! ignore them, they're just jealous of how perfectly you fit this chair that is yours! oh no the chair is too large you were not expecting it to be such a burden to fill the chair, you are filled with worry and self-doubt and also your legs hurt.

MCU Characters Having a Crush
Pairing: Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, Loki, Natasha Romanoff, Stephen Strange, Kate Bishop, Tony Stark, Peter Parker, Shang-Chi x Reader
Tags: fluff, developing relationship, crushes, dating, confessions, hand holding, gentle kisses, pining
A/N: The MCU has so many character to be crushing on, I can't possibly write them all in one post. But I might write a bunch of different ones every time I do one of these.
Tumblr media
Steve, being the gentleman that he is, would approach you careful, and just a little shy at first, strike up a conversation. He wouldn't let you know he's been crushing on your right away, he'd just want to talk to you, at times leaving you feeling like he's keeping you at a bit of an arms length, but then he'd open up to you little by little, smiling at you with that million dollar smile. He'd bring you chocolate, or other types of sweets, little gifts that signal his affection for you, ask you out to dance and slide his arm around your waist, gently rubbing your hip.
Tumblr media
Like Steve, Bucky is a little old fashioned. He'd probably meet you at a bar or a dance club and offer you a drink, feeling out what it's like in your company. He wouldn't give you his number right away but rather ask to meet at the same place at a given time. If you show up, great, he'd make sure to treat you right, if you don't then he'd still wait a bit before going on with his night. He'd always keep eye contact with you while you talked, giving you not so subtle, knowing looks, his human hand slowly reaching for yours across the table, before he intertwines his fingers with yours.
Tumblr media
Sam would be the absolute sweetest. However he'd pine for a while before approaching you. When ever he talks to you though he'd listen to your every word, his eyes lighting up when ever you laugh at one of his jokes. Since becoming the new Captain America he has a bit less time on his hands but tries to keep in contact with you since you developed a good relationship since you've known him. Sometimes you'd be the first one he calls after a mission, letting you know how it went and all the exciting details. You actually think you're gonna have to be the one who needs to ask him on a date before he surprises you with a boat ride and dinner where he asks you to officially go out with him.
Tumblr media
Loki is very flirty and charming right off the bat, making it a little hard to tell when he's being serious about the relationship. Then again this is Loki so he takes a while to trust you enough to open his heart to you fully. Most of the time he teases you a lot, loving your reactions, he also shows off when he's in front of you, which you notice but keep indulging the mischievous god anyway. He'd entertain you with various stories from his long life, occasionally kissing your cheek. His kisses get more and more frequent, until one day he whispers he likes you as he pulls away.
Tumblr media
As someone who is taught to use her charm on her targets you have a hard time telling if Natasha is actually taking a liking to you or if you're somehow her new target. Yet there's something about the way she looks at you that makes you not even care. Not that Natasha would ever hurt you of course. Whenever she sees you she holds your gaze just a little more than needed, she always buys you a drink, her hand always slipping into yours when you walk together. She's not hiding her affection for you, even though she thinks she should. She texts and calls you a lot, saying how hearing you always calms her after a mission, which makes your stomach do flips every time.
Tumblr media
Strange is a very stubborn man. He's also not the one to let his crush be knows easily. At least that's the plan. His cloak however keeps dragging him in your direction, encouraging him to talk to you. It's actually really funny to watch, but you decide to have mercy on the sorcerer and approach him yourself. He keeps his walls up for some time, still recovering from his last heart break, yet he can't deny that he's starting to feel something every time he sees you. He's a doctor, he knows the signs well. He finally manages to work up the nerve to walk up to you and buy you a drink, asking if you'd like to experience a bit of magic in your life. It's a bad pick up line, but it makes you laugh, and that's good enough for now.
Tumblr media
Kate is a complete mess around you. She's awkward and falls over her words when she talks to you, no matter how much she tries to keep her cool. There's always a bashful, dopey smile on her face whenever you talk to her. She'd ask you out for coffee while you're drinking coffee, but how can you say no to another cup, especially when someone as adorable as Kate is offering to buy it. She asks you to come watch her archery competitions, only for you to tell her that you've seen quite a few of them already and you think she looks really cool when she's shooting her targets. Another smile breaks across her face as you give her your number. You don't even get home before you get a text asking you if you're free tomorrow night.
Tumblr media
Tony is used to people falling head over heels for him, not the other way around. Still he's not about to let you be the one who got away, he's very forward with his intentions, asking you out for dinner and drinks, anywhere you want. He teases you all through the date, enjoying your flustered reactions. At the end of the date he'd kiss your cheek, one kiss after the other, pausing before he kisses your lips. This was the first time he ever hesitated with a kiss, which for him only serves to confirm his theory that he's got it bad for you. You're not just someone who he wants to take to bed and never call again, you're someone who he wants to wake up to every morning.
Tumblr media
Peter is a little shy around you, he keeps looking across the room, everting his eyes but not bothering to hide his smile when you look back at him. He'd start offering to walk to and from school with you, which wasn't unusual since you've shared quite a few classes by now. He offers to be partners on science projects, he cracks jokes when he notices you're sad, is more than happy to come over to your dorm room if you wanna talk in private, and the two of you begin to eat lunch together more and more often. He jokes about being a friendly neighbor, even though you're not really neighbors, except sometimes in a few classes. He passes you little notes during class, some helpful some just cute, some with a few too many hearts as your relationship begin to deepen.
Tumblr media
Shang is the first person to talk to you when you begin working at the hotel, offering to show you the ropes as it were. He's very easy and fun to talk to so naturally you can't resist when he asks you to hang out with him and Katy after work. Katy being the best friend that she is notices how Shang starts to look at you the more time you spend together. She gives him that extra push to finally ask you out on a real date, but he tries to play it off as just friends going out at first in case it doesn't end well. However when you part ways he's more than happy to get a text asking if he's free to go to the movies on the weekend.

Friend For All
Tumblr media
This is something I've been thinking about for a while now. In my opinion, Dagur is the only character who could actually have an amazing time hanging out with every member of the Dragon Riders. I don't even think the Riders themselves can say that. Please, hear me out. I know they're friends, but they're a friend group. This is an important distinction because how often do you really see Fishlegs and the twins just having a ball together? (That "wedding" doesn't count because the poor Ingerman was not enjoying himself.) What about Snotlout and Astrid just genuinely having fun without anyone else there? You really don't get that. So, I'll try to explain why I think Dagur could do this. (Spoilers probably. I'll just use the warning to be safe.)
Dagur and the twins could have chaotic fun. It's probably unsafe for anyone around them, but no one else is matching their pure insanity. All three of them have this combination of sometimes just doing things to mess with people or just doing something that then causes problems by accident. Still, I think they'd have fun. They can try to out prank each other (think Loki Day). They also still know how to be serious when the time absolutely calls for it, so they could have less silly times too. Ultimately, I think their best times together would be when they're just causing heck for the world and laughing together about what they've done.
Dagur and Astrid could enjoy the more warrior/protector side of life. I think there would be a healthy competition. Astrid was in charge of keeping the Edge secure with defenses and Dagur snuck on several times. He might even end up being the tester for her new security systems. I could see her trying to make things to keep him out and him being fine seeing how close to death he comes while still trying to break in. Also, since Astrid's got that drill sergeant thing going on that we saw in "Team Astrid," I could see her being curious what types of training he has his soldiers do. They might even trade ideas back and forth to have the strongest fighters.
Dagur and Fishlegs is a friendship I have wanted to see more of ever since "Family on the Edge." They were so adorable geeking out together about Gronckles. They're such an odd buddy duo because they seem like complete opposites, but I think it could work. Fishlegs wanted a spa area and are we really going to say Dagur wouldn't love that? Mr. Meditation and Fruit Baths? Yeah, he'd happily tag along for a spa day. Then, they can geek out more about Gronckles or other things like this. A personal headcanon I have which adds to this is I believe Dagur is pretty well-read. There are little things like him knowing about the third eye, French, how to make the antidote for Nadder venom when he got shot (since they didn't have dragons on Berserker Island), etc. So, I feel like he and Fishlegs might have more things to nerd over than most assume. Dagur even was impressed by Fishlegs's thirst for knowledge. Maybe they could discuss the different topics they've read and studied. Study buddies! (Sorta)
Dagur and Snotlout are a duo I think would be amazing. Like with Fishlegs, there were episodes where I just knew I wanted more of them together. Seeing them fight off traitorous Berserkers, then start providing commentary to Hicctrid in "Mi Amore Armorwing" were some great moments to me. The reason I think they could work is that I feel like they'd be good influences on each other. (Actually, I already have a story out on AO3 that dives into this called "Means We're Friends.") Dagur is himself and always will be. Even in RTTE, there's a part of Snotlout who still wants to be who others...namely Spitelout...think he should be. Dagur could help him learn to just be whoever he really is and not care what anyone else says. Also, Snotlout is more sensitive than he'd ever admit, so I think he'd be able to help Dagur in those moments when the Berserker is just clearly not picking up on how to respond properly in situations to avoid weirding everyone out. They could also do a bunch of sparring together too and get into random things for fun like how Snotlout started narrating Tuffnut's search for Chicken. I definitely think Dagur would've joined in on that.
Dagur and Hiccup...well, of course. They're brothers and friends, so that's a given. These two are going on the wildest adventures because Hiccup will never really stay put and Dagur would get bored if he did. There's that fun protective side too. Anyone around them knows that if they mess with Hiccup, they're dying in the most horrific ways possible. Plus, we'd have to throw in some big brother advice moments from Dagur to help Hiccup out with becoming a chief in the future. We've seen the redhead offer advice to Hiccup before with not letting revenge consume him. We've also seen Hiccup offer some comfort with things like their search for Oswald. So, you'd get the more adventurous/fun side of the friendship along with the more serious moments.
On Monday, I'm going to publish a series of oneshots set both in and out of their universe to show how these relationships could work. Considering Monday is April Fool's, I just knew which group I had to start with...(It's out now and called "Just One of the Riders.")

The witchling and the god [Loki x Witch!Reader] Chapter 8
Summary: The Avengers were looking for someone to help Loki fit in with the team. To become socially acceptable, so to speak. He had been given the choice of sitting in a cell in Asgard or serving some sort of community service probation on Midgard. The Avengers and Shield both felt that as long as Loki was on Earth, he should be under supervision. This is now your job. Why? Because you’re a witch. You’re not sure why this qualifies you, but here you are, giving it a shot. What could possibly go wrong?

Chapter 8: A snake and a magical artifact
Before you go home to your cottage on this eventful day, you stop by the prince’s suite. Despite Thor's words, you know you won't have any peace until you talk to Loki one more time. Or at least try to. In the tower's kitchen, you've made some tea and have a tray with the pot and two cups floating next to you. It's easier to balance it this way than in your hands.
Loki stands at the panorama window looking out over the city, hands clasped behind his back. The sun is tilting toward the horizon, bathing the sky in a warm orange.
You approach him quietly and with a wave you let the tray float onto the small table. Giving Loki his space, you sit down on the armrest of a couch and follow his gaze for a while before looking at him. "Please don't teleport away like that again. I was worried about you."
"Why? Because you lost track of me like a dog that ran away?" Loki asks without turning to you.
It makes you frown. "What? No!" you explain, "I was worried about you."
You hear a soft "Tsk." from the Asgardian.
"I can understand that this was a situation you just wanted to get out of. But I'm asking you to communicate with me next time."
"There won't be a next time," Loki snaps, finally turning to face you. His expression is dismissive, but when your eyes meet, there is a moment you can see behind that mask. You see disappointment and regret.
Then it's gone again and his next words are bitter. "I let you down. You shouldn't have trusted me."
"What do you mean, Loki?"
"I promised no chaos and no deaths."
You remember your conversation in the car on the way to the hospital. It seems like a long time ago to you, even though it was only this morning.
"Well, at least you didn't start a fire." It's an attempt to lighten the mood, but Loki scolds. You let out a sigh. "We're a team, okay? So if there's any blame on you here, it's just as much on me."
"We are not-...," Loki hisses, but you don't let him finish that sentence.
"Listen, I'm really trying here. I know you don't want all of this. I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry that things are not how you want them to be and that you are stuck here. I'm trying really hard to improve your situation. But I can't do this without you. I'm just asking you to not randomly disappear on me."
Your tone is harsher than intended, but it's been a long day, a lot has happened. You're tired and your patience for further discussion is wearing thin. You brush some loose strands of hair out of your face.
There is a pause in which the Asgardian contemplates your words. You let him take his time, having nothing further to say about it.
"I can do that," he finally says.
You smile softly at him. "Thank you, Loki."
You look at each other for a moment. His expression is neutral, but you get the feeling that it's not a mask, just him trying to process his thoughts and feelings. Humans and Asgardians are not so different in that way.
You nod toward the table. "Tea?" you ask.
Only now does Loki seem to notice what you've brought. "Gladly," he agrees and circles the couch to settle in his usual spot.
~~
The next morning, you enter the suite as usual. "Hello?"
At first you think it's empty, but then you notice something moving in the sun on the couch where you usually sit. It's a snake that lifts its head at your words, seemingly looking in your direction. It is a dark blue color, almost black, but in the light of the sun it shimmers almost iridescent. It is a beautiful animal.
You walk over and place a paper bag on the small table. "I brought brownies," you announce.
After yesterday, Loki had earned them, and you baked them fresh this morning.
The animal watches your every move, tonguing silently in protest as you push it aside to sit down. You're 85% sure it's Loki. At 10% you assume it's an ordinary snake and Loki is just playing a trick on you. For the other 5% the snake is here for some totally unrelated reason.
Your eyes meet.
"If you don't want to talk, I'm sure you won't mind if I read, right?" You get no response, but you're not sure what you were expecting. Probably not that the snake would speak to you. So, with some magic, you summon a copy of the book you're reading at home and get comfortable.
"At least he's not a horse," you mutter as you think back to Loki's tale of Sleipnir.
You don't blame him for changing shape. After everything that's happened, you're glad he showed up at all and isn't hiding somewhere or back to the point of threatening you. You definitely made some progress there.
Soon, you're engrossed in your book. You don't realize the snake has started moving until it tries to get from the back of the couch across your chest.
"Not around the neck," you warn it without looking up, pushing its little head aside. It tongues in protest, but adjusts its path. After a while, it loosely wriggles twice from your shoulder across your chest. You feel the smooth scales against your skin as he gets under your collar, and you pull him away from your neck a bit. At the same time, you turn sideways and pull your feet up onto the couch so the snake won’t be crushed between you and the couch and is also back in the sun. With its warmth and that of your body, it seems satisfied and stops moving.
You turn the page.
Lost in thought, you place your fingers on the scales again and stroke them gently.
Although it's comfy, you're having a hard time concentrating today.
Sometimes the suite is too cramped for you, even with its size and nobody there but you and Loki. Today is one of those days. It's not because he himself takes up too much space - he is just a several feet long snake. But sometimes you feel that you can't concentrate properly when he is near you. Your thoughts are too focused on him. It's your job, you tell yourself. He's constantly circling around in your head as you think about how best to integrate him into the team, what project you can start next, where you could take him out to dinner again. He deserved the latter after his good work. The fact that you might then see him in an elegant suit again is just a happy coincidence.
You give up reading and put your book aside. Somehow you’re even glad that you don't have to talk to Loki today. That would only distract you more. He has a way of pushing your buttons with his words. Silvertongue can be interpreted in several ways.
Instead you're content to sit here in silence with him while you hold your face in the sun with your eyes closed. Perfect to raise your spirits.
Suddenly, a phone ring interrupts the silence.
"Sorry, I forgot to put it on mute," you mumble, glancing at the display. It's Tony, which is why you pick up.
"Hey, what’s up?.… yeah, I'm in the house.... Really?..Okay, I'm on my way."
You hang up and stand up and lift the snake off of you, carefully laying it on the pillow.
"The heroes found something magical and now they don't know what to do with it," you tell the animal, deliberately emphasizing the word hero with humor because you know how he feels about it.
"Of course! They're not smart enough for that." Loki sits on the couch back as his normal self with his legs crossed, making a thoughtful face. Then he rose as well. "Let's go."
"Are you sure you want to come?" you huff, because Loki didn't seem like he had much desire to talk or people today, and in the lab there would definitely be people.
"Something exciting is finally happening. I'm not going to miss it."
So you go together to lab 105, which is located about in the middle of the tower. It's not as big as some of the others, but it's equipped with lots of scientific technology.
Tony and Bruce look up as you enter. Neither of them comment that Loki is at your side.
"Where is it?" you get right to the point and they both point to a table on which lies an unspectacular object.
It looks like the hilt of a sword or a large dagger, without a blade. Just the hilt and cross-guard. It seems to be made of some kind of metal and there are various symbols engraved on the surface.
"Cap and Nat found this in a Hydra base," Tony explains, "Can you tell us what it is? Our scans are all over the place. Nothing makes sense."
"How do you know it's magic?" you ask.
"The blood and skulls lying around it in the base were a strong indicator."
You make a face and turn to the object Loki has already approached and is looking at curiously.
"It's powerful," he says quietly so that only you can hear. "I can feel the magic radiating from it."
"Have you seen anything like it before?"
He shakes his head.
You notice that the grip has a cavity at the bottom, as if a gemstone had once been embedded on the pommel.
"I can perform a ritual and find out more about it." You look at the Asgardian. "Unless you have a faster method?"
He takes a step back and gestures for you to continue. You give him a smile, then turn to the table.
Muttering softly in a foreign language, you run your fingertip across the tabletop, drawing symbols around the handle. Dark lines appear as if they are being burned on the surface. As you complete the circle, you hold your hands over the object and close your eyes. Your murmuring grows louder. Fascinated, the Asgardian watches you work.
The symbols on the tabletop light up and you break off your chanting, opening your eyes. They are milky white and a slight glow seems to emanate from them.
"Not sure if this is cool or just scary," Tony mutters, turning to Bruce.
You let the hilt hover between your fingers and examine it closely from all sides. Your spell gives you a direct view of its magic, which you now try to decipher. A red, billowing aura surrounds it. It appears calm, almost waiting. You hold it against the light, smelling it. The only thing that keeps you from licking it and tasting the magic is the intensity of the power you now feel as well. It's huge for such a small object.
Usually that’s not a good sign.
But you feel drawn to it and slowly you close one hand around it. The red aura reacts to your touch as if it were greeting you curiously. No sooner your fingers wrap around it than you feel a vibration emanating from it, traveling along your arm, tingling in anticipation. You try moving your arm as if you were wielding a blade, and suddenly a strength comes over you as if you could punch a hole in the metal wall of the lab. It's so overwhelming that you drop it on the table and end the spell. You have to blink a few times to get your eyes back to normal. It takes a moment for everything to stop appearing blurry.
The symbols on the table have faded, but you can still make out a shadow of their outlines.
"It's very powerful," you share your thoughts with the class. "It seems to be a part of several pieces. The energy is… not unfriendly, but unsettling. I wouldn't bet on it being used for anything good."
"Not by Hydra anyway," Tony snorts.
"What did you feel when you touched it?" Loki asks.
"It was weird. Almost as if it was calling. Could be some kind of curse." You look back at Tony, "You guys better stay away from it.”
That raises the question of what you should do with it. There’s no way you’ll leave it in the hands of people who don't know a thing about magic. You could take it back to your cottage and figure out the best place to put it. You know some people you could contact about it.
"I can keep it safe," Loki says
"Absolutely not," Tony replies promptly and even you are opposed to the idea.
The Asgardian gives him a sour look. "I know more about artifacts than all of you in this room combined. Magic has been a part of me since I was a small child."
"That wasn't an objection based on knowledge." There is no glossing over the distrust that lies between the men. Loki's gaze darts to you, and you pause.
"Doctor Strange," you say and Loki shoots you an offended glance. But he remains silent and you hope that means he isn’t disgruntled about your suggestion, but probably just the opposite is true. You try damage control. "He has the proper resources to store these kinds of magical artifacts."
You fish your phone out of your pocket, take a picture of the artifact and send it to Stephen along with a short message.
"SHIELD is not going to be happy about this," Tony interjects.
"That's not my problem. You wouldn't leave a firearm in the hands of toddlers, would you?" As long as neither of you know exactly what this magical artifact is capable of, it is a potential threat. You learned to be careful with these kinds of things. You never know when something could potentially blow up in your face. "Depending on what dimension Strange is in, you probably have about a week. But you guys should be careful. That thing can be dangerous.”
"Danger is my middle name."
"Yeah, I bet." You turn to Doctor Banner, who seems to be the more reasonable of the two of them. "And what is yours?"
"Actually, Bruce is his middle name," Tony answers for him.
The doctor shrugs with a sheepish grin and you laugh.
Loki and you leave the lab soon after and walk together to the elevator.
"I've been thinking about what project we can start next," you inform him. You had wanted to talk to him about it before Tony's call interfered. "There are programs similar to 'Make a Wish' and I think that-"
"I'm not going to do something like that again," Loki interrupts you sharply.
Somewhat taken aback by this so suddenly harsh tone, you blink at him. "Why not?" you ask dumbfounded. The elevator doors open and you follow him inside.
"I'm a god! No entertainment for unworthy people!"
"But everyone had fun! Including you - apart from the incident, of course. You were great."
"If I had been great, the boy wouldn't have died." His voice is bitter and stinging like the venom of a snake.
You try to calm him down and put a hand on his arm, but he shakes it off. "That's not true! You had no-…"
"He had a weak heart and I showed him my magic. It was too much to comprehend for this small human boy. He faltered immediately." He turns away from you and stares at the wall of the elevator. With a soft ping, the doors open and he trudges out. You have arrived at the floor of the suite.
You follow him a little slower, watching his dropped shoulders. So that was the reason. Maybe that was why he had been so quiet since then. Not just simple grief but also guilt. For the umpteenth time, you wonder how anyone could ever claim that Loki is a bad person when something like this affected him so much.
The Asgardian interprets your silence as a shock at his confession. He stops at the door to the suite, his hand already on the handle, not daring to look at you. He is afraid of what he would read in your eyes. Hate, accusation, disgust. "Now you know. It was I who kill-…"
"Loki, stop." You wrap your arms around him and hug him from behind. He stiffens. "The doctors told me Felix's deadline was two weeks ago. He bravely held on for many more days. Maybe his soul was waiting for you so he could go in peace."
Loki's voice is no more than a whisper. "You're just saying that to ease my mind."
You let go of him, take his hand that is still on the doorknob and turn him to face you. Your expression is serious and you try to put every bit of honesty that is in you into your words. "You are the god of lies. You should know I’m not lying, when I say that it was not your fault."
His eyes scrutinize you, trying to find a counterargument. Under other circumstances, he would be impressed that you understand how his domain works. Usually people accuse him of lying all the time because he is the God of lies. Actually it's quite the opposite. But most people are too dull to understand that. He knows how to choose his words so that they are not lies. And he senses when someone else is lying.
You don't lie. Your words leave little room for interpretation either.
Slowly he nods and you exhale in relief. You release his hand. The spot feels empty on Loki's skin, the ghost of your touch tingling.
"I still won't do anything like that again," he insists.
"Then we'll find something else," you reply, surprising him again.
He is fascinated by you, by a simple Midgardian woman. But you are not ordinary, he realizes, just as he had suspected when he first met you. There is much more beneath your surface than meets the eye.
"I have one request, though," you add. "Next time teleport us both away together. Then I'll save myself the trouble of searching for you."
Loki raises an eyebrow. "Only if, in return, you won't notify anyone next time."
"If I know where you are, there's no reason to notify anyone," you say with a smirk, holding out your hand to him. It's just to seal your pact and not because you like touching him, you tell yourself.
"I like it when you try to get around the rules. It's a nice change," Loki admits as he wraps his fingers around your hand to shake it.

I don't know if it has been mentioned in the She-Hulk series yet, but Bruce's full name is Dr. Robert Bruce Banner.

Hot take: Both the 'canyon' and the wider OFMD 'fandom' can turn people away from the show. This fandom's infighting is a waste of time and everyone would be happier looking for fans they agree with vs. spending hours wasting their life arguing about pointless shit. (Yes, this post is ironic, but I'm tired of moralizing, and wanted to rant.)
You as a fan are responsible for curating the community you care about and finding passion there, not endlessly posting rants about how weirdly passionate other fans are.
Fandom is just a bunch of very opinionated people who get online and try to find community and for the most part, that's okay! You consumed a piece of media and have opinions about it, but know why you're creating a post. You're not actually going to get murdered by Izzy lovers if you properly tag your Tumblr posts as Izzy-critical. For example.
I write OFMD meta, it's very easy to pop on Stede Critical if I'm discussing why I don't like aspects of his arc, or Ed-Critical for how he was written in S2. Proper tagging shows respect to Ed-focused or Stede-focused fans without clogging the tag with hate. I enjoy aspects of Izzy's character, and if I'm negative I STILL tag Izzy-critical.
Trying to claim moral superiority for 'choosing the right side' in fandom looks immature on both ends. In the end, yeah, I'm sure people in both camps were harassing people. I've got 15 Izzy-focused words on AO3 in this fandom on all branches of loving-to-hating aspects of his character. I have gotten death threats, from both camps, I get it. But those are shitty people, regardless of fandom affiliation. I don't hate an entire subgroup due to that.
Izzy having a subsect in fandom is not really that different than Ed, Stede, Olu/Jim, or hell, S2 positive fans having their own spaces and communities.
I was in fandoms for Marvel (Loki), Supernatural (Castiel) and Witcher (Jaskier). I know how prevalent some side characters can be, it's as if it's y'alls first time seeing this shit. Liking or disliking a character isn't a moral failing. THIS is the ACTUAL reason I saw people leave the fandom.
Moralizing if participating in Izzy (and TBH, Stede) fandom made you a good person or if you were 'filling AO3 with another white man'. Don't complain you don't have water if you haven't even tried to dig a well. Vice versa with only 'pure holy radical leftist non racists' holding themselves above everyone else for liking characters like Edward, Oluwande, or Jim. Why are you wasting time complaining that they aren't represented on AO3?
If you want more Archie fic? Write Archie fic. If you want Ned to get the villian arc he deserved? Do it. If you really hated Izzy and wanted him to die sooner, you have your audience, be respectful of people and their time.
But reader of this post, you are not the moderator for all content created. Why do you spend your time caring about what another ingroup is doing instead of having fun with YOUR in-group??
When this fandom dies out, my stand-out experiences will be the fond memories of what fic I created and the many friends I made along the way. Can you say the same? Or will you remember OFMD because you keyboard warrior'ed your way into not even having fun anymore?
#304.

Not really a question but they're a very few writers that write fanfiction that have really affected me. Not just their work but the way their work and posts reflect them and I can count on one hand how many there are and you're one of them. Your work is just so captivating, I've literally laughed out loud so many times and it is a source of comfort as right now I'm probably going through the hardest period of my life and have to start therapy even though I'm on the younger spectrum of things. I don't mean to dump here, just wanted to let you know that your work really does mean the world, it really really does.
And i love how your choice of obsession is the lovely Jensen Ackles.
Please do let me know if you're still taking reqs or taglists for soldier boy!
:)x
@lifeonawhim You just made my whole week, hun! 🥹
This in particular warmed me:
Not just their work but the way their work and posts reflect them and I can count on one hand how many there are and you're one of them.
That's such an amazing compliment, and it truly means so much to me. One of the reasons why I write fanfiction along with my original stuff is not just to explore fandoms and characters that I love, but also for the reason you messaged me. I'm so glad my work has been able to brighten your day, make you laugh, distract you from your troubles in whatever small way.
Though I'm sorry that you're going through a hard time. Trust me, I've been there, and therapy can be a wonderful and essential part of working through it. Because unfortunately, being young in life doesn't always mean you can escape challenging times, anxiety, or trauma (I can relate). It's more than okay to need help, and to ask for it.
As Jared says, "Always keep fighting." 💗
And you're not "dumping" at all. Thank you very much for letting me know that my work means something to you! That encouragement is just as important for me, as a writer and a person, as is reading things that are able to comfort you when you're down.
Jensen's characters are certainly my current obsession! lol But believe me, I've had others: Loki/Tom Hiddleston, Jon Snow/Kit Harrington, Clark Kent/Tom Welling, and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier/Sebastian Stan just to name a few.
About my Tag Lists:
I've been combing through my tag lists recently to remove blogs that are no longer active or look like bots, so I was able to add you to my Soldier Boy tag list! 💜 If you would like to be added to other tag lists of mine that are still open, feel free to check out my nifty Tag List Form and add yourself.
As for requests:
So my requests are "officially" closed. I've written a lot of requests in the past year, but I still have several in my inbox because a few more trickle in lol. But since you've been so very kind, if you have a request go ahead and send it to my inbox. I can't promise that I'll get to it right away, but if an idea grabs me, I can't not do it, if that makes sense. 😉
Thank you again for sending me such a lovely message to brighten up my day!

MCU Eternals Romantic!Ikaris X Reader & Platonic!Druig X Reader AU Idea (AKA my ADHD/Neurodivergent brain is whipping my butt)
Ok so, I'm just going to spare y'all the misery and brain spiral I put both @valeskafics & @its-actually-minicika through, and give the most recent one. This is a really long post as it will go into a lot of detail about the character's personality and her interactions with other characters. Please read through it, and if you hate the idea. Don't be a jerk! Just move on, and ignore this post! But if this is something that you think would be interesting to read: like it and/or let me know in the comments, or send it to a friend you think will find this idea interesting!
So it goes without saying that the MCU Eternals' fandom has unanimously agreed that Druig is best boi/edgelord, and I have no disagreements with that. Hell I basically live on Tumblr's 'druig x reader' tag. BUT I too thirst after Ikaris (AKA Not-Mother's-Favorite)...look, it's Richard Madden, I'm only human.
If you are one of the maybe 10 followers I have, you will know that I am already writing 2 other fics (a Robb Stark x Yi Tish!OC, and an Ikaris X Water Elemental!Reader). But if you read this post's title...you will see that my ADHD brain refuses to listen to reason...and since starting to write fanfiction...it has only gone into overdrive. You will also know that I love drawing inspiration from mythology...and dragons but that's another discussion.
BACK TO THE POINT! So I have seen a lot of Nature Eternal!Reader x Druig fics, and I love all of them. But I read @spacetalbot's Druig x Reader x Ikaris fic where the reader is basically Persephone, AND @winterlves's Ikaris x reader fic where the reader is Thor and Loki's sister who controls nature. Needless to say...I became obsessed.
Basically, I wanted to explore the idea of an Eternal!Reader whose powers are like Persephone (Chlorokinesis, Geokinesis, Fertility Manipulation, etc.). And while Druig is like Hades, he serves more as this reader's overprotective older brother/guardian. Instead, her main love interest in this idea will be Ikaris.
Druig and Hades actually share a good amount of similarities to each other. Both are mostly disliked/not popular amongst the Pantheon/Eternals and humanity, both are secluded to their own domain/community, both are much more somber compared to their family members, and the list can go on. But the reason I wanted to use Ikaris as the main love interest is mostly to due with his attitude towards humanity and how he interacts with them. While life goes on for everyone else, it just sort of "stops" for him. He doesn't really make any effort to connect with them outside of being with Sersi, and when he leaves her, we don't see any further attempts. And this is where Persephone!Eternal kind of comes in.
Now, unlike my other Oc's/Reader fics, I actively plan on writing this reader to show neurotypical symptoms. For example, she will show signs of having trouble emotionally connecting/socially interacting with others. Her mind will wander in meetings and need a nudge to focus back. She might unintentionally put off someone by how she phrases her question/response. She will prefer to study the differing flora and fauna in the places they visit than interact with people. While she does hold some love and affection towards them, she knows that it's not her the humans love, but rather what she can provide for them. This last part is kind of what lays the foundation to Ikaris' and the Reader's connection.
One scene I intend to write that really shows how Persephone!Eternal's mind works is how she interacts with Phastos when he describes the steam engine to Ajak. Personally, I headcanon that Druig likes to be around when Phastos is inventing something, but more just to be his annoying little brother. Persephone!Reader is not at all tech-savvy, but it's how Phastos' thinks of his ideas that fascinates her. What materials would be needed to build it? Does the materials need to be first sourced by humans? Is the conversion of high pressure to low pressure like when an area with a lot of water flowing into an area with low amount of water? If I decide to write Ikaris seeing this, it will make him notice how Persephone!Reader's mind definitely works differently than his. As normally, he wouldn't question Phastos, just accept it and move on. But he would notice how you are the only one to really connect with him by how you don't outwardly mock him like Kingo or Sprite, and by being the only Eternal to act genuinely interested despite not technologically inclined.
Another scene would be how Persephone!Reader was supposed to be attending a feast for the harvest, and so Ajak sends Ikaris to look for her. He finds her in a secluded area of a forest, and with a cow and her calf. He is confused and so Reader explains that she noticed that the cow had been eating much more lately and been much more tired and unable to work. She overheard the humans wanting to kill it, but then she noticed that the cow was in fact pregnant. So while the feast was busy, she snuck away and made an area so that the cow could safely give birth in peace. Ikaris would notice that Persephone!Reader is smiling and much more at peace alone, than in a crowded area with tons of laughter and noise. You are worried that Ajak will find out and make you not see the animals anymore, but Ikaris promises you that he will keep your secret, and that he will just tell her that you weren't feeling well. This furthers your connection.
Another one is where there had been a big dispute amongst the humans, and some people are severely hurt. Druig and Ikaris get into a fight about it since it was under Ikaris' order that Druig not engage. Ikaris is impassive and stern and Druig calls him a coward. Persephone!Reader is seeing the fight and asks Ikaris why he wouldn't let Druig stop it, if he can do it, why not let him? Ikaris retorts stating that it isn't their place to settle their disputes, to which Reader states that he should care about the humans, and not be so cruel. Ikaris gets angry and tells reader that it is not his job to justify his reasonings to Druig or anyone else, much less her. So he storms away. A few hours pass, and Ikaris hasn't been seen by anyone, not even Ajak or Sersi. Reader finds him in a hidden area and notices that his face is very tired looking. Reader realizes that she has made a big misjudgement on her part in saying that Ikaris doesn't care, and is very careful in saying she is sorry. Ikaris is still upset and tells her to go away. But Reader just stands there and doesn't move, refusing to leave him alone. She eventually gives him a hug stating that she was wrong and she was sorry, and that she should have known better. This comforts him a lot as he allows the hug. Reader also makes him a wreath of flowers of her appreciation of him as her leader, but mostly as her friend.
I got a ton of scenes planned, so like and/or comment of what you think!
If you are still waiting for my Robb Stark x OC fic! The 3rd chapter will be out soon!
Edit: I reblogged this post to add on some headcanons of an additional Eternal!Reader who is Hecate. Check out the reboot part in Notes to see it!

20 Questions for fic writers
Tagged by @nocompromise-noregrets Thank you! <3
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?: A meagre 45 works aha.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?: 547,326 I can guarantee you that 200,000 of those words are from 2 fics alone.
3. What fandoms do you write for?: Tolkien, Twilight, and a myriad of video games.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?:
Barduil Prompt Collection (6406)
Fireside Shenanigans (Good Omens) (4917)
Iston i nîf gîn (Hobbit Bard/Thranduil) (4734)
As You Exhale, I Breathe In (Twilight Garrett/Aro) (3037)
Easier For You to See (Saints Row The Third) (2924)
5. Do you respond to comments?:
Always, unless it's @morticia-butler then I just go message her on discord lmao
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?:
Probably As You Exhale, I Breathe In. I enjoy a good angsty ending and as far as I was concerned I was never going to write another Garrett/Aro fic again so I wanted it to be bittersweet and angsty lmao.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?: Ah, I suppose the majority of my Barduil prompts/fics. I don't know if the fandom would allow me to kill either of them aha.
8. Do you get hate on fics?:
No, generally I don't get a lot of comments in general because I write for a rare pair and I don't update often enough.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?:
I do, and when I examine the smut its... generally violent and bloody. I'm not sure what that says about me...
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?: I don't think so? I write AUs sometimes based on the world of another franchise but not often.
11. A ghost ate this one
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?:
I think it was a Thor & Loki one, other than that no?
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?:
There was an attempt but I am so spotty with updates and writing that I think I annoyed the person I was working on the fic with. Sorry friend, I didn't mean to frustrate you.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?: Garrett/Aro, it has been in my brain since 2019 and won't let go, and also Barduil but I fear I can't really write for them anymore.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?: Oil and Water my latest Barduil fic. I just don't have it in me to write for them anymore. I don't know why and genuinely there are a gamut of Barduil fic out there being actively written and updates. My works would not be missed so it's all good.
16. What are your writing strengths?:
Emotion- inner turmoil, perhaps dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?:
Updating, maybe description of the world around the characters.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?:
It's fine, but can be a bit clunky and generally adding translations somewhere kind of pulls me out of a fic, but that is my own opinion on it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?:
Yu Gi Oh, babeeeey!
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?:
Probably the one I am hoping to finish this week, Thrall. It is my magnum opus to be quite dramatic about it. I don't think I've ever written anything like it before.
It's very different to the sweet fluffy works I did for Barduil.
But given the characters, it is quite fitting. I have loved and hated writing it. I have had many emotions writing it and gained and lost very close friends while writing it so it harbours a lot of hurt.
I tag: Anyone who would like to fill this out.

Loki Episode 1 Reactions (Less Coherent Edition)
It's been two and a half years, y'all, and what a start to the new season it was. (I've seen mixed reviews in the tag, but personally the initial reaction is I loved it.) What I apparently forgot in those two years, however, is that my in-the-moment reactions notes are not very coherent. So I apologize in advance if you aren't sure what part the note refers to. I'm going to make another post tomorrow with some more coherent thoughts around the episode and some predictions about the season in general (I'm also going to be rewatching the episode later so that might lend more clarity to the next post as well). I also cut out a chunk of my reactions that were just me screaming a character's name when they showed up, unless it makes sense for the next note to leave it in (and there were a lot of these, since it's been two and a half years since I've seen my friends).
Obligatory spoiler warning if you weren't already expecting them. Prepare for some wildness. I've bracketed [ ] some brief clarifying post-ep notes (not everywhere though).
I'm obnoxious, I'm watching the entire recap.
The editing of this recap is interesting.
The bleak theme is worrying. I don't like it. But I do love the color scheme of the logo.
SYLVIE???!!!
CASEY!!!
Okay hopefully that wasn't Sylvie.
Someone give this boi [Loki] a nap. He's had a very very very long day and it's only getting longer.
What the fuck is happening.
X-5 you've got the haircut of a cop, I've decided I don't like you.
Man, I hope we fix this time-slipping in this episode, it's stressing me out too fucking much.
Oh motherfuck. This is driving me insane. This is Sisyphean torture. [I don't remember what specifically I was referring to, so I don't remember if this is an accurate description.]
OH MY GOD I LOVE LIZ CARR I HOPE SHE STICKS AROUND [Man, Liz Carr is just hopping from franchise to franchise this summer. She's in Loki, Good Omens, The Witcher)
OH SHIT. Renslayer and Kang. If they kiss on tape I'm marking it on the Bingo.
I DESPERATELY want to know what B-15's backstory is. She's a fantastic character and I want to know how she used this personality on the timeline.
Keep that Hitler youth-looking fuck away from my girl!
Oh my god, I'm going to be watching this conversation in the hall between Loki and Mobius over and over, because I love every part of it. The panicking, the teasing, the touching, the making each other feel better. Just the entire debriefing, reuniting conversation is EVERYTHING to me right now.
"In order to do that I need a Loki Who Remains." I love this
"I have no memory of having my memory wiped." Mobius. This is Catherine Tate on Nevermind the Buzzcocks telling David Tennant "I don't know songs I've never heard of" solidarity [I understand I'm making obscure 13+ year old references but this quote lives in my head rent free]
Ugh I HATE time travel. But it makes sense why his name is OB now. Also his door is a circle.
OB IF YOU KILL LOKI I WILL END YOUR CUTE BESPECTACLED FACE FASTER THAN YOU CAN SAY "No...wait."
OB IF YOU KILL MOBIUS I WILL PERSONALLY FLAY THE SKIN FROM YOUR OWN BONES
Mobius writing "skin" into the dust on the computer lololololol
WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING JUST LET LOKI CONFESS
OB I'M GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS IF ONE OF THESE BOYS EVEN SEEMS TO DIE AT THE END OF THIS EP
HOW IS HE GONNA HOOF IT BACK IF HE CAN BARELY CRAWL [I started getting really stressed at this point. It's pretty much caps lock from here on out.]
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD WE'RE GONNA END THIS EPISODE WITH MO BITING IT AND THEN LOKI FIXES IT IN EP TWO AND BRINGS HIM BACK
OR LOKI BITES IT AND THE OTHER WAY HAPPENS
THERE'S ELEVEN MINUTES LEFT BUT I DON'T TRUST MARVEL NOT TO MAKE ELEVEN MINUTES OF CREDITS
MARVEL DON'T MAKE ME CHECK OFF THE CRYING BOX [on the Bingo Card] ON EPISODE ONE
MARVEL
I WON'T BE ABLE TO SLEEP
MARVEL
LOKI
MOBIUS
LOKI
MOBIUS
SYLVIE MY DARLING MY PERFECT LOVE THANK YOU OH MY GOD
How wild is it that Loki comes flying back from the jaws of death itself and saves Mobius from getting his skin ripped off and they land on the floor of the TVA in each other's arms, and the first thing Loki does is bring up his ex-girlfriend [I wouldn't classify Sylvie as this, but I'm being tongue-in-cheek, and Mobius did accuse Loki of falling for himself in season 1, so]
OKAY BUT I WAS RIGHT THAT WAS SYLVIE AT THE BEGINNING [Before you reply, remember I can't respond to those, and also I forgot that was the past and at the end Loki's in the future. HOWEVER, I do still think that was Sylvie at the beginning.]
SHE IS IN BROXTON HELL YEAH WHOEVER FIGURED THAT OUT (I don't remember who that was) FOUR FOR YOU HOLY SHIT
Oh Sylvie :(((

If i was in the marvel fandom in 2012 i would've been a major loki hater ngl. I started to warm up in the dark world. I know its controversial but i liked him in Ragnarok but then they killed him in infinity war im sfill mad abt
I like Loki a lot, and I liked him least in Avengers (2012). I watched the movies out of order at first (A1> T:TDW> Thor 1). I enjoyed him a lot in the Avengers, I was drawn to him because he's fun, but he also gave me second-hand embarrassment because he was just so arrogant yet got his ass handed to him(And I didn't know the backstory). I didn't think about Loki for a long time, until I watched T:TDW, where I fell head-over-heels for him. Without Loki, that movie would have felt like watching paint dry, so I felt especially grateful to Loki for that. That eventually got me to finally watch Thor 1. LOL. I enjoyed him in Ragnarok a lot, as well, and shipped him with Valkyrie, but I was not in the MCU fandom at the time (I was in another fandom). I am also still mad about Loki being killed off like that in IW!!!! Let's mourn!
Bear in mind I am biased towards antagonists and villains while reading this. This is my history of how I ended up obsessed with Marvel's Loki. And I am not sure if I should tag this post as "anti Thor" because I mention my extreme dislike of Thor from the past (and reasons). But I mention at the very end he grew on me. It's up to you if you keep reading.
The first time I saw Marvel's Loki, it was on a Hulk v. Thor cartoon on Netflix. Loki looks like an evil DILF in there. And Hela is a hot giant goth lady. I remember I googled norse mythology for the first time because up until then, I had thought "Son of the Mask" made up Loki, and I wanted to learn more about Hela (Hel). And I learned about Sleipnir and how hilarious myth!Loki was.
Tumblr media
I found cartoon Thor annoying because he felt too perfect, and that's the kind of character that grates my nerves. And he survived thanks to a kiss from Amora, ugh, that's so dumb. I didn't go to watch Thor (2011) for the longest time because Thor just annoyed me because he felt too perfect and Gary Stu-ish in that cartoon.
And the comics I read at the time, specifically for Loki, made me dislike Thor more because they were like "Thor is the FUCKING BEST! AND ALL THESE SCANTILY CLAD WOMEN WANT TO FUCK HIM. BLEH BLEH. "(I was reading some omnibus by Matt Fraction on readcomicsonline). But I was more of a lurker in fandom, with no tumblr account, so I didn't express it.
And it annoyed me that some Marvel re-tellings of the myths (think it was Ages of Thunder) substituted Loki's cleverness (that saved him in the myths) for Thor being merciful or coming to the rescue. And they'd make Loki not only much eviler, but also dumber than in the myths when scheming and wprd-play is supposed to be his thing. Like, let Loki have something! You don't even have to write it because the myth you're adapting is there already! And ugh. Like no offense to anyone, but I don't really feel bad over Loki being so popular because those comics that existed for 5-6 decades annoyed the fuck out of me.
Also, at the time, a bunch of comic book nerds and dudebros would lose their shit over Loki's popularity. And Loki would be the subject of really fucked up homophobic jokes in parodies (*cough* The Key of Awesome).
Thor started growing on me in Ragnarok, IW (coolest Thor), and EG (EG!Thor is my fave because he's just so sad and I love sad men). And he was actually not Gary Stu-ish in Thor 1, I just didn't appreciate it at the time (unlike in other Marvel media). So I definitely like MCU!Thor way more than in many of his comics runs.
I also feel like I have different Thor and Loki preferences than most of the fandom, because I was a lurker and didn't interact with the fandom until 2022 and then making this blog, thanks to the Loki series bringing back my Loki phase.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @ollieofthebeholder
How many works do you have on Ao3? 65
What’s your total Ao3 word count? 905,117. That's...more than I thought
What fandoms do you write for? Currently TMA, previously RT/AH, the X-Men alternate timeline movies, Good Omens and a few other fandoms
What are your top five fics by kudos? Awake and Unafraid, Cold as Cryospace, Beauty of a Secret, Put Your Mouth Where Your Money Is, and Borderline
Do you respond to comments? Very rarely, because I am still kinda shy and not at all good at responding to positive feedback or kind words (besides just keysmashing)
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? You know, as much as I love some good angst, I don't really do angsty endings. I think the closest is A Snowy Night just because it was prequel to canon so it couldn't end without separation
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? They've all mostly got happy endings. Best I'd say is Awake and Unafraid
Do you get hate on fics? If I ever did I don't remember it. If I did I deleted the comment because I'm not dealing with that shit
.Do you write smut? If so, what kind? The very slow kind, because it takes me forever to write smut. Like I'm fighting for every damn word.
.Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Outing myself as 2013 tumblr cringe, but I wrote a Loki/Sherlock crossover series long before Bendy Cumby was cast as Doctor Strange. It was fun
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Don't think so
Have you ever had a fic translated? No one's ever asked me, so idk
Have you ever co-written a fic before? In high school I did hand-written RP with a few friends, but that's it.
What’s your all time favorite ship? Hard to say all time favorite because I love them all equally. Right now its GerryMichael but JonMartin are still very dear to me
What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Besides my active WIPS I need to finish my TMA/Addams Family crossover or my beta will kill me
What are your writing strengths? Once I get a character's cadence in my head I can write their dialogue pretty accurately. Also I've unlocked the great writing secret of "I will write what I want to write" which helps sometimes when I get stuck or can't commit to a fic direction. Also when I have shit writing and need to fix it, I don't feel guilty about changing what I wrote to something better.
What are your writing weaknesses? Shit writing. When I put the words on the page and it doesn't read the way I want and is missing my personal touch. Editing that is a bitch.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I've made that mistake before when I was younger. Now I'd maybe reach out to a native speaker before trying google translate, because my personal standards are higher and because google is shit these days
First fandom you wrote for? I think it was the Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 anime. Something for an ex friend
Favorite fic you’ve written? Awake and Unafraid my beloved. Because I'm deeply proud of it, both the story itself and all the details I worked into it. Its the longest thing I've written, has the highest hits and kudos, and most importantly, its the fic that I wanted to write and it turned out beautifully.

All The Plans We Didn't Make (Chapter 1/?)
@marveltrumpshate auction fill for @mischievousdope
Pairing: James Bucky Barnes/Loki
Rating: Explicit
Tags: Angst, Drama, Mpreg, Hurt/Comfort, Genderfluid Loki
Characters: Loki, James Bucky Barnes, Thor, Sam Wilson
Summary: It's the anniversary of King T'challa's death and Loki comforts a grieving Bucky, but his good intentions come with unforeseen consequences.
The remaining light of day was a ripple of red across the horizon. A figure appeared at the connecting balcony, casting a large shadow that swallowed the sun and half of Loki’s face in the mirror.
"Going somewhere, brother?"
"Ask me again, why don't you," Loki said with a sniff. "I love being asked questions you very well know the answers to."
Unflustered, Thor decided tonight was as good a time as any to feed his long-contained curiosity. "So it is serious, then? You and the Winter Soldier?"
"Don't call him that," Loki rebuked his brother sharply. "He has not been that for a long time."
"Sorry."
"People forget." Loki softened his weighted statement with a pensive, "He mourns."
The mood in the room turned sombre.
"As do we all," Thor said quietly. "At this time of year."
"I would have liked to have known the man," Loki said. "What I know of him I learned from others."
"He was a great man," Thor said gravely. "A great king."
Mismatched eyes met green ones in the mirror, both pairs steeped in varying degrees of sorrow.
Thor had come to his brother's chamber looking for gossip, but now he found himself disheartened by the sudden turn in conversation.
"High praise, brother," Loki murmured. "Coming from you."
"There was no one more deserving of it than T'challa. He was the best of us."
Loki exhaled slowly. "Of course he was."
He had heard it all, of the late king's limitless kindness…not from Bucky, but from people around him. Bucky was no more forthcoming with his past than Loki himself.
"What are you planning to do?" Thor queried.
Loki turned his head, allowing Thor a glimpse of the half-smirk the mirror did not catch. "Get absolutely plastered. I am Asgardian, after all."
Thor clapped his brother on the back a few times and quietly closed the door behind him.
Loki had found someone. A complicated man with a complicated past but who remained a good man, as claimed by Thor's own friends.
As far as Thor was concerned, that was all that mattered.
*********************
"Tell me about him."
"You've seen him," Bucky said. "When he was alive."
Loki was nothing if not persistent. "Tell me what I didn't see."
Bucky tried to think of the right words to say, but the strongest memory was of his first tussle with the Black Panther all those years ago in Bucharest. "He wanted me dead the first time we met."
Loki bumped their shoulders together. "Hey. Don't feel bad. I too have that effect on people."
Bucky sighed. His gaze fell on the empty bottles and cans lying in disarray on the coffee table.
"He blamed me for his father's death."
"Oh."
When Loki stayed quiet, Bucky felt his anxiety stir to life. "I didn't do it."
“I know.” A brush of Loki’s lips against his temple quietened his nerves. “Wilson told me.”
“He did, huh?”
Loki’s fingers were gentle as they sifted through his hair. “You need not fear judgement from me, Bucky.”
Inexplicably, Bucky's eyes watered. He blinked furiously, but tears still clung to his lashes.
"Wolf."
"Sorry." Bucky pressed the heel of his hands into his eye sockets, so hard it made his head throb. "I'm not really good company today, I guess."
"You're perfectly acceptable company, no matter the day," Loki said with an unwavering conviction that rendered Bucky momentarily speechless.
“How did I deserve you?” Bucky wondered aloud when he could finally put into words his awe.
“Hmm. Perhaps you’re kind to animals?” Loki ventured a cheeky guess. “I personally think it's your overwhelming sense of guilt. The universe has had enough of it and sent you me to set you straight."
"Wow. You're brutally honest."
"I am known throughout the cosmos for my radical candour," Loki said modestly. "It's one thing your scholars got right about me in the books."
"Nah. I'm not much of a reader." Bucky stretched his legs and leaned back on jos hands. "And I don't think I'm…straight? At least I don't think I am. Not anymore. I'm not sure. It's all very confusing.
"Allow me to unconfuse you." Loki pushed Bucky onto the floor, pinning him down by the shoulders. "Close your eyes."
Bucky did as he was told, and was soon rewarded with a series of kisses. He was not a romantic, but if he could describe Loki's kisses tonight, they were tender yet careful, yearning yet patient.
Something tickled Bucky's cheeks. It was soft, the caress of breath against skin, but proved to be too much of a distraction.
He opened his eyes a fraction.
"Loki?"
"Hi," the vision before him said shyly.
Bucky prised the long lock of hair off the side of his face and fingered its unearthly silkiness.
He gazed up at the Goddess of Mischief, eyes unreadable. "This is you?”
“Part of me. The real me. All of me.”
The vision then made an outrageous offer, an offer no man could refuse. "All yours."
“Loki…” he moaned. Yes.
In this form Loki felt delicate, as opposed to the usual solid mass of muscle Bucky was used to, but Bucky knew better; the fragility was an illusion.
The next thing he knew, Loki had transported them both onto the bed, and was now straddling his thighs; as she rode him faster and faster, her glossy dark hair tumbled past delectable collarbones and tickled Bucky's chest.
Bucky made love to her deep into the night, his grief a distant memory. He explored every inch of Loki’s body, spending many minutes kissing all the curves and edges, old and new, vaguely familiar yet different. All Loki.
All mine.
"I love you," he blurted out at one point.
"Say it again when you're sober," was all Loki answered, not unkindly.
*******************
"I am cursed. I am cursed. I am cursed."
It had been more than five minutes since Bucky had awakened to Loki's frantic mutterings, and he was starting to get really worried now.
"Can you please tell me what's going on?" Bucky implored as Loki, now back in his male form, paced up and down the room like a caged tiger.
Loki whirled around, eyes wild and crazed. "I can't find it."
Bucky was not sure what he could do to help, but knew he would accomplish nothing by sitting around while Loki scampered around like a headless chicken. "If you could just tell me what exactly you're looking for, I can help you look for it."
"That thing!"
"What thing?" Bucky asked in growing exasperation.
"I don't know what it's called in your language," Loki muttered.
"Okay…" Bucky scratched the back of his head, and looked around the bed, gloriously rumpled from the frolics of the night before.
He had absolutely no clue what he was looking for, but he had to be seen doing something. "When, uh, when did you last see it?"
Loki's panicky expression turned sheepish as he ran his hands down his naked torso. "Two hundred years ago, give or take a few decades?"
A soft gasp. "Do you think when I died and then came back that it didn't come back with me?"
Bucky's heart skipped a beat, before it began to pound like a sledgehammer. "Loki, you are not making any sense. What is 'it'?"
"Something invisible. Something potent." Loki's throat bobbed up and down in fear. "Something important."
Bucky was wiser than many people gave him credit for, on account of all the things he had seen and done. Loki was the same, so whatever he had lost, it must be damn big for Loki to react this way.
"Calm down," Bucky said in his most soothing voice. "This thing. Is it going to kill you if you don't have it?"
"Yes!" Then Loki caught himself. "No. Maybe." He winced. "I'm not sure. I can't tell yet."
"Good. Okay. I can deal with maybe," Bucky said. "When can we know for sure?"
Loki did not answer, so Bucky lunged and caught a wrist the next time the frantic demigod walked past the bed. "Hey. Sit down. Talk to me."
Loki plopped heavily onto the bed.
"In a few months," he huffed. "We'll find out in a few months."
"About what?"
Loki did not answer. He cupped the side of Bucky's face. "Are you sober?"
"Yes." Bad hangover aside, Bucky was stone cold sober now.
"I love you," Loki confessed.
"You cheat. I said it first," Bucky said.
"You're going to change your mind."
It was too early for one of Loki's riddles, but for some reason, Loki sounded close to tears, and that scared Bucky more than anything.
"Nothing's going to make me change my mind," Bucky stressed, making his voice hard on purpose, but instead of convinced, Loki only looked more stricken.
"I have to go," Loki said abruptly.
"Loki, what's wrong?"
"Nothing." Loki gently extricated himself out of Bucky's embrace. "Simply…an inconvenience."
"Will I see you later at Sam's?" Bucky asked.
Loki gave him a pasty smile. "I wouldn't miss it."
"Wait," Bucky exclaimed, desperate for Loki not to go, but his lover could not stay for a moment longer.
In a blink, Loki disappeared in a whirlwind of green magic, leaving Bucky alone to his racing thoughts.
What the hell just happened?
*********************
Only the day before, Loki had stood in front of the mirror, in anticipation of the night ahead.
Today, stripped of every piece of clothing, Loki stood before it again, this time scrutinising his reflection for the smallest, most minute change.
It was too soon to see any, of course.
Impossible.
Loki had realised it this morning when he awakened with a sinking feeling in his gut.
If he had not been so inebriated, he would have sensed it…sensed its absence, before he took the risky move to shift his form into one that he had not taken in a long, long time.
And for good reason too.
Not impossible.
The protective spell that his late Mother had weaved for him centuries ago had unravelled, God knew when, and he did not even realise it.
Loki laid a hand on his belly.
All it takes is a bit of magic, he cajoled himself. Take a look.
"No, I won't," he said aloud. "I can't."
Take a look. This time, he heard it in Bucky's voice, loud and clear.
Here goes nothing.
Loki surrendered himself to the call of the trance and reached out with his seidr, seeking for any sign of life deep inside him.
And there it was. A flutter. A caress of breath on skin, from within.
Loki sank to the floor, his knees slapping the hard, cold tiles, but he hardly felt the it.
Norns, have mercy.

"For Sylki is obvious: toxic, toxic and they're basically the same person"
Is it crazy how people can be so off base? I don't know in what aspect Sylki, who actually bring out the best in each other is supposed to be toxic… This word is used so much today without people seeming to understand the definition, that's when same crazy… Oh and the delusion of Sylki being the same person, is, I already explained, completely false. The series and the creators have been very clear on this subject, yet people persist in saying the opposite which annoys me deeply. It's like people who insist on saying that the Sylki romance is not the center / driving force of the plot… When it is in fact the case, the series shows it and the creators confirm it . Also, Sylvie was compared to Loki's new glorious goal in season 1 in a fucking dialogue and the antis always make fun of the pro Sylki to say that indeed Sylvie was in some way Loki's new glorious goal. I am literally angry with these people after seeing their message mistagged with the sylki tag…
Yeah I do think antis like to throw out these buzzwords like toxic, inc*st and the newest one I've seen is them saying sylki is ab*sive. That one in particular always leaves me puzzled because they never elaborate to explain in what way sylki is supposedly ab*sive and also they ship him with a guy who held him prisoner in season 1 and put him in a time loop where he was kicked in the balls and punched in the face repeatedly, so apparently by their reasoning sylki is ab*sive because reasons but their ship isn't? (To be clear though I don't think either relationship is ab*sve just pointing out that their statement is more than a bit hypocritical.)
The whole 'but they're the same person' argument is getting a bit tiresome, especially as writers etc have addressed it and said they aren't, yes they used it to send a message about self love, but that wasn't the defining aspect of their relationship, I feel like antis have tried to boil their relationship down to that one aspect of them being variants of each other when really their relationship is a lot more complex than that. I would also argue that as much as Loki loves Sylvie for the ways she is similar to him, he loves her more for the ways she isn't the same as him. He loves her for who she is as her own person not because she is the same person as him, as much as the show and fans joke about him falling in love with himself, the show has made it clear that they had very different lives, different ways of doing things, different views and even different personalities.
Another buzzword that gets thrown around is queerbaiting, this idea that the only reason L*kius isn't canon is because disney and marvel are either too scared to show lgbtqia+ representation or because they hate the lgbtqia+ community and so will never show a gay couple. Which is just false. Marvel and Disney have shown and written characters of different sexualities and identities into their newer projects. Loki and Sylvie are bisexual, that was clearly stated. Valkyrie is also bisexual, it was confirmed in love and thunder that the valkyrie who died protecting her in the hela flashback was her girlfriend. America Chavez in Multiverse of madness had two mothers. Phastos a main character in Eternals had a husband and child and honestly was one of the most beautiful relationships I've seen in the mcu so far. In hawkeye one of the female larpers mentions her wife. And lets not forget Korg and his partner Dwayne who he made a baby with whilst holding hands over a lava pit. I do think disney need to continue working on their representation but they have already made a good effort of adding more representation into their projects, including more female heroes which was something else they were lacking in the past, but its not going to happen over night and just throwing two guys together because its a popular ship as fan service isn't the way to go, it would be too forced. So if L*kius isn't canon its not because Disney refuse to have representation in their projects, I mean with eternals they lost money because some countries banned it because of the scenes between Phastos and his husband, disney, apparently, were given the option of removing those scenes but they refused. The only reason L*kius isn't canon is because they were never meant to be romantic, the importance of their relationship was based in their friendship. Mobius is the best friend, Sylvie is the love interest.
It is also annoying when they put their posts in the sylki tag, my advice to all sylki shippers there would be to use that block button liberally. It's actually impressive how many accounts I've had to block since season 2 started airing.
But as frustrating as it can be to see, let them stay mad. Like you said we've got the canon ship, we've had amazing statements from everyone with creative control on the show confirming our ship and its importance to the show. So now when I see a post bashing sylki or making some insane claim that sylkis have misinterpreted the show and that really l*kius is the real love, I think well I know they are wrong because the writers and producers said so, and then I move on and leave them to it because ultimately they are the ones that have misinterpreted the show and I'm confident in my ships validity. 🤷‍♀️

I've been digesting the Loki season 2 finale and have a lot of conflicting thoughts. I'm hesitant to post here because I feel like I always end up upsetting people when I share my candid thoughts. But where else is my autistic ass gonna brain fart this shit? I feel an overwhelming need to share my love of fandom with people but it's not something I can often indulge in in real life. So here goes, in no particular order.
I ended up having to mute a particular tag here. I firmly believe that everyone has a right to ship what they want. But it was difficult for me to find posts that were just about the show or character. It seemed like every post was about that particular ship. FWIW, I don't have a particular canon ship regarding Loki. I'm ecstatic that he's bisexual but other than that he is not a character that I feel needs romance. In my fanfic I do ship him with Darcy. I'm sad they never got to meet onscreen. But not because I think they would fall in love. I just think they'd be really funny together.
Anyway, that finale. I am a fan and reader of the comics though if you quizzed me I don't know how well I would score. So my thoughts are mostly around the MCU plus a bit about Norse mythology.
I liked season 1 better than season 2. Season 1 had a very cohesive narrative both visually and with the story. For me, there was not a disappointing episode in season 1. I think that was in large part due to Kate Herron's passion for Loki and the amount of thought and research and hands on work she did for that season.
As much as I love Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead, I think their chaotic style - combined with changes in the writers' room- led to a disjointed season 2. Some episodes were great. Others felt like they dragged.
Here are some of my chief complaints/disappointments overall of the finale and season:
Season 1 built up this romance between Loki and Sylvie as though it were a key focal point and then it pretty much got dropped in the second season. I don't ship them but I would have appreciated at least one realistic conversation between them about how he felt. Or even a conversation with someone else about how he felt. It just seemed like the whole thing was sort of abandoned? I know he looked for her and cried a bit but it was all very vague.
The crying. He seemed to cry a lot this season? And of course we do need to see more men crying onscreen but it felt like a little too much. Kind of out of character. The opposite of rage isn't crying. So if they were trying to show growth by having him cry a lot it just didn't hit that way for me.
It honestly felt like it ended on a low note. I don't just mean for Loki. Everyone seemed kind of sad and unhappy. And I know it's not a show about happiness but I guess for me there's just so much bad in the real world right now that I needed to see a message of hope. I needed Mobius on a jet ski. I needed Sylvie doing something nice for herself. I needed the people at the TVA to do whatever would be fulfilling for them.
And honestly? I needed to see Thor and Loki together even if it was just quickly. Loki had the power to go anywhere and any when and not once in all of that did he go see his brother to say a proper goodbye? Or even to his mother for that matter? I understand he loved his friends at the TVA and that's a good thing but it felt like everyone else in his life was forgotten. He never even made mention of them.
All that being said, I LOVED seeing Loki come into his power. Though it's interesting that both he and Thor only truly came into their powers after losing everything. Which leads us back to the sadness of the ending. I'm glad they didn't kill Loki. And I'm glad they didn't kill Sylvie. But I'm sad that Loki is stuck doing the one thing he came to fear most: living life alone. He has not had one single moment of happiness in this arc and I hate that.
In a way, his ending is reflective of the Norse mythos. True, he's not bound by a snake and being tortured by venom. But he is essentially trapped. And were he to let go then all the worlds would end.
So what does the future hold? I'm not sure. I think we've seen the completion of Hiddleston's arc as Loki. He might pop up here and there again but doubtful as the main Loki. I'm guessing we'll see either kid Loki or Young Avengers Loki. Personally, I'd love to see Agent of Asgard Loki. Whoever it is, they will have some big shoes to fill.
So these are just some of my thoughts. Not gospel. Just one person's feelings about the show. I will say, ironically, I do feel inspired to write which is something I haven't done in a while. Ironic because of him becoming the God of Stories. Though I gotta admit, the way he kind of sneered at Ouroboros for being a writer stung!

New tag game! Name nine fictional crushes (option to include photos)
Summarize it and/or let your followers drag you for your type :)
Thank you @acydpop for the tag! IDK that i have crushes of the twu wuv kind, but! i've definitely imprinted on some fictional characters harder than others. Here's a selection! Also, i cheat ;-) If you, yes YOU, would like to be tagged, then yes! You're tagged, come and play along !
1/ SPOCK!1!1!1!!! (Star Trek: TOS and the subsequent films only; the constant retconning of the new versions is... not for me, but kink tomato and everything). First saw the original show dubbed on TV as a pre-teen; Spock was me, Spock was aspirational, Spock was who my best self could be. Small me trained in front of a mirror to be able to raise one, and only one, eyebrow. It worked (but i only trained one eyebrow). This was before i knew of fandom and of course slash, and the internet was barely starting; i wouldn't even have heard about it. It may very well still have been the Cold War, or at least the death throes of the USSR. (Kirk/Spock forever!)
Tumblr media
2/ Saint Seiya!! Not Seiya himself (lol nope), but otherwise... Max Whump (Hyoga and Scorpio? i MEAN! A quick look-see on Youtube showed me only dubbed versions, too-short versions, or WHAT THE FUCK is this video-game reboot or something??? ANYWAY) Central! Our Heroes keep being Mega-Whumped, but the Power Of Friendship etc etc. And when i say mega-whumped... From Shiryu who keeps blinding himself, to Shun and his many, many issues with self-worth, to that fight i mentioned with Hyoga still crawling forward even as Milo (Scorpio) keeps wounding him... And Ikki and his Tragic Backstory TM and sacrifice for his baby brother. DON'T start me on the gold saints and the ladies, k? (Yeah, i know, misogyny etc)
Tumblr media
3/ Methos from Highlander Ooooh boy. He's sarcastic, self-serving, detached - or is he? Is he? (Yes, Methos/Duncan forever. What can i say? i'm basic) First fave in the morally grey area for this list... but not the last ;-)
Tumblr media
4/ Daredevil/Matt Murdock *points at all the fic on my AO3* Yeah, so. Yeah. Nuff said. Picking this gif because crucifix + blood. Taking off a bloody shirt, the crisp white kind he'd wear in a court room as a lawyer, in a church: quintessential Matt Murdock. i just *clenches fist* Have Feelings
Tumblr media
5/ Root (and the whole Person of Interest team) She's unhinged <3 Picking her because out of the whole team she's probably the one with the most compelling arc, IMO.
Tumblr media
6/ Rodney McKay and John Sheppard and Ronon Dex (SGA) Über-nerd McKay was my first fave (yes, he's a jerk. Your point?), but also-über-nerd Colonel Sheppard and dead-pan Ronon Dex were faves as well <3 (AND RADEK!!!!) (Yes, Ronon Dex is Baby Jason Momoa before he grew huge muscles, and he is quite charming!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7/ Sherlock Holmes (ACD or Granada versions mostly) He, too, in unhinged :D i probably don't need to introduce him, right? In the larger fandom, i also have a soft spot for JOAN Watson, in Elementary.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8/ Loki (and Cap and Iron Man, yes it's cheating) (so you're getting a two-fer in the gif) We shan't mention the various character assassinations that occurred in the MCU, k? There's an arc that shows change and growth, and then there's inexplicably ignoring huge bits of previous motivations, backstory, or characterization. But i digress
Tumblr media
9/ Severus Snape So it's a bit hard here, because Rickman!Snape has never been my Snape, and i've only watched... idk, maybe the first... three? films? So i can't really provide a pic that fits. Anyway, loved the character from the start (he's funny, what can i say?), and when his childhood was revealed i was extra-sold. The social commentary behind his very poor origins, how he didn't fit and was bullied and grew bitter, and everything else... i discovered fandom at the time i started reading the books, around the time Goblet of Fire was published, so i first gravitated towards two fandoms: Star Trek and Harry Potter. Hence those two characters bookending this post ;-)
