So, some folks have probably seen by now that the trailer for Michael's appearance on The Assembly this Friday has dropped, and the first question shown is, "How does it feel to be dating with someone who's only 5 years older than your daughter?"
Already, I am seeing people clutching their pearls in response to this, particularly on Twitter. Saying that it's an inappropriate question, that this person has an opportunity to ask Michael anything and chooses this, that he looks so uncomfortable, and so on. One piece of context that seems to be missing is that (to my knowledge), none of the interviewers are fans of Michael's. They were given the opportunity to do research prior to the interview and developed their questions based on that, but none (again, AFAIK) are coming from the vantage of being a fan. So immediately, that gives a different sense of where the interviewers are coming from and how this shapes and informs the interview itself.
What also came to mind is that if Michael is uncomfortable, it's worth thinking about why that might be. It seems like a lot of fans have created this perfect portrait of Michael and Anna's relationship in their minds, so if we are to follow the logic of that--if his and AL's relationship is as sunshine and roses as many people believe it to be--then Michael might be surprised by the question, but probably wouldn't be uncomfortable. Yet in the trailer, we can see the change in his body language and the way he tenses up immediately after the question is asked. Because for as talented an actor as he is, Michael absolutely cannot seem to hide his true feelings as himself.
I also definitely think that whatever answer he gives to that question will be a PR answer. Which is not to suggest that Michael will be dishonest, but rather that he will be polite, but likely without saying what he really feels about their relationship. Again, do I think he owes anyone his full, unvarnished emotions? No, of course not. But Michael is a fully grown adult man who is more than aware of the consequences of his actions, and he does not need to be "protected" or shielded from such questions. So if fans are uncomfortable with Michael's discomfort in talking about a relationship he's been in for the last five years, it might be a good idea to think about why that is.
The other thing I wanted to mention is that the editing of the trailer is already confirming some of my previously-held fears where the autistic/neurodivergent interviewers are portrayed as rude/weird, and Michael is "so brave" for taking on the "challenge" of being interviewed by "those people." It's somehow a combination of objectifying and dehumanizing, putting us (I include myself, as an autistic person) in the category of "other" for actually saying out loud what other people are only thinking. This both entirely disregards the producers/editors tacit encouragement as part of the format of this, and Michael being willing to answer, and demonizes/places the blame on the ND interviewers instead.
That is my take on the trailer, at any rate. I still intend to watch the full show once it's released, and am hopeful that the joyful atmosphere found in other parts of the trailer will prevail throughout the show. There’s weird in the sense that maybe they’re just a bit different to you, they’ve got interests you can’t relate to or they express themselves in a manner which isn’t the way you would. Maybe you don’t understand it, maybe it annoys you or rubs you the wrong way but ultimately they’re just living their life, same as you. In this case, let em. If they’re approaching you with excitement and/or good vibes just don’t be a dick and I think you’ll be fine. You don’t have to be their bestie and if they genuinely cross a line unintentionally then you can gently let them know, but if they’re nice to you, be nice back.
Sometimes the weird people are actually kinda fun and interesting once you get past your own initial blocks. And that can take some time too. Nobody’s born perfect, and sometimes it does take a while to sort of outgrow certain prejudices and what not. Teenagers are some of the most judgy people on the planet, some outgrow that, and others dig their heels in and make it a core personality trait.
Now there’s the other kind of weird, which is the genuinely being a creep, crossing boundaries, harassing kind of weird, which I also have come across. Again, if you think somehow it’s unintentional, let them know and reaffirm your boundaries, but otherwise block em, report them if it’s something genuinely not okay and move on. In real life, just try to avoid them.

hiiiiiii m! read s2 ep2 and i LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!! <3 i actually am so relieved that steve reader friend divorce era is over......idk why but friendship breakups make me sadder than actual romantic breakups, partly because friendships themselves are so selfless and sort of by design the least selfish, or self interested you can be, with the benefit just being "we get to hang out!". i'm fascinated that steve forgave her so quickly as well, maybe because he's in a vulnerable spot right now (???), but i really did enjoy that reader was willing to make amends instead of sort of just digging an emotional hole for herself and exaccerbating the problem. i'm excited to see if she'll be as proactive down the line when things get more serious between them.
the way you handle nancy is interesting. i'm glad you don't shy away from reader being jealous of nancy and the attention of johnathan and steve and being pretty and rich, which omg, can drive full grown adults crazy, so why wouldn't a teen girl feel it, but also see nancy as like a full person? i also really appreciate your/reader's willingness to see both sides of the conflict, at least so far. a lot of people, from what i've seen, seem to view that night as a very traumatic night for steve where he got his heart broken, and that's true! it is! but it's also a night where nancy got blackout drunk from survivor's guilt that everyone around her told her to ignore in favour of just forgetting everything she experienced. that would make anyone upset! she probably does feel like her relationship is bs if it's main priority is not allowing her best friend's parents to find peace and move on! anyways, what i'm saying is that it's nice to have a realistic yet emotionally mature main character, and one who is so because they themselves are emotional and very in tune and self aware of them and others, instead of for just like, the plot vaguely, or because of modern sensibilities, no it's just an established and consistent part of her character, which is hard to do and it's so cool that you do it so well near constantly!
but i really was cheesing a lot like it just felt like a classic early 2000s CW show which is the high i'm constantly chasing. one tree hill season 1 episode i think 13 college party was very much the vibe i was getting. i should have been wearing cheetah print and leather and listening to the strokes as my friends convinced me that local basketball player was really the only guy who ~gets~ me. "i'll be" by edwin mccain plays in the background as we make eyecontact from across the room. you set the vibe, is what i'm trying to say.
billy was weirdo and creep and i'm happy he was acknowledged as such!!! not kidding when he came up to the reader i was also uncomfortable and it just had that very deeply horrible frat guy energy that makes every person subjected to it feel very objectified, and i think it's even more interesting that this is, from what i remember, one of the first time someone's shown outright interest in her, so i can imagine that that makes it even worse. i also sort of like the set up of johnathan defending her and steve holding him back, feels very much a great physical example of their position so far, with both johnathan playing a larger role in her life, as well as maybe signalling that johnathan's role as her protector, friend, confidant, all that is now passing onto steve's "hands", as steve's quite literally holding him. idk if that's too much i just had fun! and steve's final thoughts. my god. what an oblivious young man. the immediate jealousy and awe he feels.....his willingness to forgive....her promise to him as he confesses........both very moving and also amazed he hasn't realised his own feelings yet and excited that it will take him longer to do so. them making the promise together especially was so good, and such a good parallel to the one she and johnathan made in s1, and i'm excited to see if steve and r are able to uphold it better than johnathan was and how it'll serve to highlight the differences in their relationship.

u touched on something SO BIG and i loooove discussing it: steve forgave reader so easily. and YES it was a bit ??? but later itll make sense. overall weve seen that steve just so genuinely trusts readers intentions with him, he never doubts her honesty and hes been pulled towards her since day 1, so of course he immediately was like “oh yeah we can be bffs again <3”. HOWEVER ,,,, this will play a huuuge role later (next chapter i believe). we’ll get more insight and steves vulnerability that night also def helped
and nancy !!! yes !!! i had to rewatch her scene with steve in the library a million times and i just felt horrible for them both. they want to help each other, and as ive said before about jonathan and reader, steve and nancy take care of people in opposite ways and it makes them clash. nancy wants to be proactive, steve wants to be more on the down low and tend to those he has already. hes accepted and moved on, nancy has moved on but hasnt accepted.
and as for the jonathan n steve scene i originally had jonathan holding steve back, but honestly it didnt feel right. jonathan, as much as he sucks sometimes, will ALWAYS be the first to defend y/n. every time he will. steve will too, but jonathan has that spot rn and hed rather die than let her get hurt </3
as for billy ,,,, so incredibly excited to flesh out his dynamic with reader. it wont be romantic in the slightest, but reader will have some insight into billys homelife due to max, and u bet she’ll use it against billy.

Random Crossover Thoughts
There are ideas I play with and ideas I write. The following is an example of an idea I play with:
Jason Todd, Luo Binghe, and Mo Ran/Taxian Jun and how they would interact. Because they all have similarities... until they don't. (I am not into... I believe the term is batscest. And BIngmei would be creeped out by Taxian. Bingge would take notes). But I think it would be neat to watch Jason's reaction at the moment where he realizes their... different perspectives, and different types of revenges on their mentors.
And then I had to wonder at how he would feel about their interactions with his own mentor/father figure after that. 'Cause if I had a mentor/father figure, I would be distinctly uncomfortable leaving any of these guys alone with him. But how uncomfortable? Which would I be like, I wish they wouldn't, versus which I would immediately drop everything to intercede, if I were in Jason's boots.
I think it breaks down like this:
1.) Luo Binghe from SVSSS, also known as Bingmei. Most comfortable. Basically no threat of harming Bats or anyone really without good reason or purely because they have been a shitty mentor (at times). Would understand the perspective of loving someone with whom you have a complex relationship with underlying tones of guilt, betrayal, and pride. (Familial versus Romantic, but the base is there). Could actually be a sweet scene with either character, until the reveal. Might even be funny in how uncomfortable he would make Bats.
2.) Taxian Jun/Mo Ran would be unsettling, but not like an emergency, get to them immediately. I get the vibe he's a little like the Joker at times, but as long as he's got a reason to keep someone alive he will. I think if he and Jason were working together for whatever reason, he'd leave Bats alone except for being verbally abusive. I get the sense in terms of other abuses, Chu Wanning is the one most in danger at any given time. Same goes for other timeline versions of this character.
3.) Luo Binghe from PIDW also known as Bingge. Instantly get to them as fast as possible. Should probably not be left unsupervised with anyone, but especially not Bats. Bingge should never be left alone with someone who resembles a mentor/father figure, let alone one who has occasionally been shitty. Best case scenario he does the blood thing and bides his time to take revenge. Worst case he doesn't wait, and assumes he can talk his way out of consequences.
It remains an idea I will not write though, as I can think of no plot that could create a solid storyline. That, and I do not have a fully solid understanding of Jason Todd's voice/character that I feel comfortable writing him. But it remains a fun thought exercise to get me through my commute.

Chapter 6: Whipping Pot

Kyojuro sat next to you. Interested in your "play-date" with Shinazugawa and his dog. The younger brother was there, but Kyojuro assumed he was there only because Sanemi didn't have the courage to meet you alone. The older flame haired brother never had a problem with women. Usually because of Tengen, they would flock to him.... But Kyojuro never paid them any mind...
You were different. You never begged for his attention, nor did you chase him. He had been chased for... He stopped keeping count honestly. And when Tengen couldn't get a bite for Kyojuro, the music teacher gave up and shifted his attention to Sanemi.
But back to you. Your two toned lips, soft and plump. He always daydreamed about how'd they feel against his own... And he remembered the night at the club. He just only acted like he didn't. But the way you felt against him felt right. Your thighs so plush and soft. No other woman had felt right against him. Not when they held on to him, he pushed them away. They pressed against him while dancing, he would dissappear in the crowd.
He watched as you smiled about his competition. You were beaming, mostly rambling about the man's dog, Winter. Happy to know about Sanemi's situation with his PTSD. Kyojuro had to fight to roll his eyes as you started to talk about the other man.
"And then I went home! Well not fully home."
Kyojuro perked up at this. Alarmed at the fact that you didn't go home.
"My neighbors invited me to eat with them."
"Ah, your landlords?"
He asked stuff like that to show you he's paying attention. In reality, Kyojuro had followed you to the park. And them back to your apartment complex. Oh, it was easy to find out where you lived. The office women really liked him. Kyojuro could ask them anything and they'd tell him. Yes. He did break into your apartment, on the days he could manage to get away from home. Maybe you thought some of your clothes went missing?
You nodded at his question. Then you looked at your plate. It was empty,
"They're always letting me eat with them."
Kyojuro saw you eyeing his dessert, and slid half of it on to your plate. When your eyes lit up, he smiled. Allowing you to eat and clear your mouth. Then you looked at Kyojuro, your honey eyes shining at him.
"So what'd you want to do today? Or did you have any other plans?"
You had been out trying to do some grocery shopping, and he had "bumped into you". And insisted on treating you to lunch. He looked up and thought for a second.
"Not really. I can join you on-"
His phone began to ring, and he looked at the call. His father, Shinjuro's name popped up and he frowned. He looked at you apologeticly, and answered the call.
"Yes, Father?"
"Just say "dad" damn it." His father fussed, but continued, "pick me up some stuff. I need-"
Kyojuro cut his father short and smiled at you,
"Im on a date. I'll bring your things to you, when I've finished here, alright?"
He was going to get an earful and probaly a smack to the head, but you were the most important thing right now. After putting his phone back in his pocket, he stood up.
"If you'd like we can take a walk. Or-"
You smiled standing up with him.
"Maybe you should get home? I don't want to keep you all day."
Kyojuro frowned for a moment but then he smiled,
"Why don't you just come with me? Senjuro would be happy to see you. And you could meet my father."
He'd make the old man behave if he needed to. Kyojuro respected his father, but if the man started to make you uncomfortable or did any thing that was less than a gentleman... Well punishment would be handed out accordingly. Giving him a smile you nodded and linked your arm with his own. Kyojuro tensed for a moment, it wasn't out of surprise. He was trying to restrain the psychotic part of him that wanted to make you his right in that moment. When you felt him tense, you started to back away. He forced himself to relax, and gently pulled you back to his side.
"Forgive me. You just surprised me a bit."
You smiled at his explanation, and giggled, letting him lead you to his home.

Standing at the door way, Kyojuro opened the entrance and let you walk through first. You both were holding groceries, and Kyojuro announced that he was home. Being sure to say that you were accompanying him. Senjuro rushed into the hallway, excited to see you and gently took the bags you had in your arms.
"Miss (L/N)!! Are you staying for dinner? If so, I've got something special to fix for us!"
You nodded at him and slid your shoes off, setting them next to Kyo's. Shinjuro made his way to the hallway.
"This is her?"
Kyojuro's face twisted in to a snarl, just for a moment, directed at his father. A silent warning to keep his mouth shut. You blinked at Shinjuro, unsure of what to say...
"I've told Father about you. Being new and all to the school. He likes to hear about my day, sometimes."
You nodded, a bit unsure. Kyojuro had never acted like this... You'd only seen it in small intervals... And it was usually over you... You just figured that it was because he was your friend and it just came with being around him...
"Ok. Calm your shit."
Shinjuro waved you both into the house more. And you followed a bit eager to see where Senjuro scurried off too. You heard him buzzing around the kitchen. He had music going, while he cooked, Senjuro was doing a little dance. You smiled, as he seemed to be in his element. Plus it was cute. Shinjuro just stared at his youngest son.
"Boy may have some sugar in his tank..."
He gave you a look and then raised his eyebrow.
"I dont think so. He's just happy to be cooking."
Shinjuro nodded, and smiled a bit. Then kept walking. Instead of following you walked into the kitchen and sat at the island. Kyojuro joined you and nudged you with his elbow.
"SEN!"
At his brothers bark, Senjuro threw the large spoon he had at Kyojuro.
"Dont do that! You know I'm easily spooked!"
Kyojuro caught said spoon and gave it a lick,
"The curry is coming along great! And I have to be sure your aware of your surroundings even at home."

Senjuro, snatched the spoon from his brother and gave Kyojuro a light smack. Then turned to clean the spoon and retrieve a new one from the drawer. He quickly stirred the curry. You took a seat at the counter, and watched the teen cook. You admired Senjuro, he took up a lot of the house work while Kyojuro and Shinjuro worked. For a moment, you wondered what it would be like to be apart of the house hold here...
But you were snapped out by Kyojuro waving his hand in your face.
"(Y/N). Are you ok? You seemed abit out of it..."
His big eyes looking at you gently. You nodded and smiled at the man.
"Yeah! Just entranced by that delicious smelling curry!"
Senjuro smiled bashfully,
"Thank you... its just seafood curry..."
You nodded at him. Eager to eat. Shinjuro walked back into the room and sat on the other side of you. Looking you on the face.
"So. You datin my eldest?"
You snapped your gaze to him, speechless at the fact that Kyojuro's father would even ask that!
"N-no! We're jus-"
"Father. (Y/N) and I are just co-workers."

After dinner, Kyojuro walked you home. You thanked him profusely and he waved it off. Telling you it was fine. Once you scampered off, Kyojuro turned to leave but was stopped by Benimaru, one of your landlords. The elder man frowned at Kyojuro.
"You're the second man to walk (Y/N) home. What the hell do you want with her?"
Kyojuro stopped in his tracks and tilted his head to the side.
"Im just-"
"There are cameras all around here boy. I've seen you break into her apartment. The only reason why I haven't called the police is because I know (Y/N) would be a bit upset."
Shit... Kyojuro had slipped up in his eagerness to be closer to you... He put his hands up.
"I only broke in to return her things. She had left them at the school."
Kyojuro was trying to lie... But he could tell Benimaru wasn't taking any of it.
"Stay your ass out of her damn apartment. Or you'll deal with me."
The elder walked back into his apartment. Leaving Kyojuro to glare after him... He'd have to be more careful...
Uh... so it's been a while... I just lost the motivation to write. But this mf will get finished! And there will be two endings. One for Nemi and the other for Kyo. Thanks for reading. And any feed back is welcome.

Realised Game of Thrones was a great universe to explore how heats have a scent (and taste) that goes from bitter to sweet as the omega goes from false to true heats. Also realised it wouldn’t fit in my main verse (or rather that it was too late to make it fit) so figured out something else to do with it.

The storm that rages outside feels like the one that rages through his belly. Each crash of thunder joined by a cramp.
It’s not just his heat causing his stomach to roll although it isn’t helping. It is also worry for his family. Worry for Arrax. Worry for what his uncle has planned for the night. Both of them staying in the Baratheon Keep until the storm passes and sun comes out.
It would be bad for me to send an heated omega out into a dark storm like this Borros had said as slick had started its slow path down Luke’s legs despite him silently begging it to not. Not right then. Anything but right then in front of a potential ally or enemy and his uncle. I will send a raven to your mother in the morning to come pick up her son who thinks himself better than his designation.
Prepare rooms for them both, the Baratheon alpha had added with a nod with Luke’s Uncle sending chills of failure down Luke’s heat-warm spine. I have more to discuss with the other one.
Not that there’s anything Luke can do about it now. Tradition states that omegas are to be guarded in their heats either for or by their mates. Given nesting materials as if that alone is enough to distract them from the wasted week of cramps and slick.
At Dragonstone he could at least still train. Guarded, yes, his parents guarded him jealously – their only omega so far – but he could still do things.
Here he can do nothing but wait. Wait for the shame of some knight, or his stepfather, coming to collect him and his failure. Or wait for House Baratheon’s head to decide he does want to accept the proposal of marriage to a relative of his choosing but without giving up his fealty in trade.
Luke has long decided he hates heats. Always coming at the most inconvenient times and humiliating and uncomfortable to endure no matter how much his mother tells him it will get better as his body adjusts to create a space for a womb that will carry his heirs.
The door creeks open and Luke feels his breath catch as a shadow enters the room.
The crash of lightning through the window reveals it is his uncle who has come into the chambers.
A better option than the others within the walls that could be creeping in right now. But it is not one that makes Luke feel safe or reassured.
His mother is married to her uncle as is common in their family. And he remembers the way Damon had looked at him like bait on a hook when the topic of Vhagar and her current rider being their biggest threat to getting and holding the throne had been brought up in the meeting.
And now Aemond looks at him like a predator stalking prey.
“Uncle,” Luke says as Aemond stalks over to the bed. Luke vacating it to ensure there is still distance between them. Enough distance he can only catch the edge of alpha musk. “You should not be here.”
“And why not?” Aemond asks, watching him with an eye that flashes with the lightning strikes. “I am merely ensuring my dear nephew is being looked after. It wouldn’t do if word got out that he had been unsullied while on a negotiation for his mother.”
“Well,” Luke says, freezing when Aemond’s nostrils flare like a hunting dog who has just caught the scent of their game. He forces himself to breathe and his voice to remain even. “You can at least safely dismiss any that come your way. As you can see I have been left completely alone until your visit.”
“I suppose I can,” Aemond says almost dismissively as his eyes trace a path along the bed that Luke had barely even attempted to nest in.
He suddenly hones in on something and swoops down like a dragon after a sheep.
Luke lets out a squeak when he stands again, long fingers coated in the thick clear fluid of Luke’s slick. Luke’s underclothes not enough to prevent it from ending on the sheets he had been sitting on these days.
A promising sign your body is developing as it should he kept being told despite how much he hated how sticky and damp everything in his bed ended up after his heat. Unable to meet the maid’s eyes when they came to strip it once finished.
His uncle spares him a glance for it before returning to the slick. Pressing his fingers together and parting them as if testing the consistency.
Luke’s seen the Maesters do the same thing a few times. Not that he believes his uncle has been properly trained to tell anything from his assessment like they can. It much more likely just an obscene display of power. Proof that he can and there’s nothing Luke can do about it.
Aemond brings the slick-covered fingers to his nose, another common assessment. He doesn’t pause to smell it though, instead shoving his fingers into his own mouth.
Luke doesn’t know what to do or say as he watches it. His uncle clearly taking his time with whatever it is he is doing with them in his mouth. Two full rumbles of thunder filling the air before he finally draws his fingers out.
"Still bitter I see," Aemond says, a string of saliva connecting his fingers to his lips from where he had tasted Luke's slick in what was the most depraved way of assessing it. "An omega not yet fully bloomed and yet you are offering your hand in marriage."
"I've presented, haven't I?" Luke asks. "That's more than enough."
It earns him a grunt.
“If that is true you shouldn’t be out at all without a bite on your neck. There are too many who would love to steal you from the den your mother has hidden you all in.”
“Good thing you are here to ensure that does not happen,” Luke reminds his uncle.
The silence that it’s met with is terrifying.
The way Aemond makes his way over scarier still.
Luke knows going for the door is foolish. Not only will the guards likely not care, it could quickly turn the situation much worse in so many ways. So he backs towards the window until he hits the still of it. Seriously contemplating climbing out into the storm as his uncle closes in the distance.
Perhaps if he yells loud enough Arrax will hear him and catch him if he jumps.
“What do you want?” Luke asks when Aemond leans down so he is right in his space, his nose right by Luke’s neck. Both their breathes louder than the storm and Aemond’s lips are parted as if he’s trying to taste Luke’s scent like he had his slick.
“Your heats will be true soon enough,” Aemond says instead of answering the question. “Who will you let have the first taste I wonder?”
“My mate after our wedding,” Luke answers because it is the correct answer. The right answer according to the realm and the Faith of the Seven. And the one that has the best chance of getting him out of this situation unharmed.
“That does not sound like you at all,” Aemond says, his eyes staring up into Luke’s as if he knows him at all, before they trace back down to Luke’s neck.
“And what does it matter to you?” They are all-but at war now. Calling on alliances and houses to see who will stand by whose side.
Aemond just grins at him before drawing back.
“Promise me you’ll keep yourself safe my little strong Lord,” he says, ruffling Luke’s hair like they are just uncle and nephew. “I would hate for someone else to spill your blood before I can.”
“Only if you promise the same.” Luke doubts it entirely but he can’t not try and prevent the tense stalemate from spilling into civil war.
Aemond huffs and turns to leave, finally giving Luke the room to move away from the window himself. Luke watches as his gaze is drawn to the bed as he passes it. The alpha suddenly stopping at the foot of it.
“If Lord Baratheon does not send a raven in the morning, I will return you to your mother myself,” he says, leaving the room in a quick pace before the words even have time to settle in Luke’s mind.
He truly hopes the Baratheon lord is good to his word and sends the raven as he promised. The alternative now much worse than the shame of having failed his family.

under a cut because this is the most ridiculous post i’ve written (screenshots of other posts at the end ft, @the-spooky-alien & @mellowmanatee)
first tooms watching from the sewer made me think of the grimlocks from charmed. different vibes but equal creep factor.
i really can’t stand colton, he is such an ass. like he’s with scully at a nice restaurant for lunch, trying to flirt with her (and not that she doesn’t flirt back but there’s just nothing actually there like. it just looks like bad banter & obligatory flirting) but that isn’t what gets me. he’s so jealous of one of their old classmates moving up. scully just says “good for marty” and like the literal WHINING he does. why she makes him feel better i don’t understand. then he does the dumbest thing ever
have you had any close encounters of the third kind?

no of course not. but you do work with “spooky” mulder
mulder’s ideas may be a bit out there, but he is a great agent
like. literally she just made you feel better and you’re making her feel like shit? exposing what you think of her work & her partner. giving her a taste of what mulder deals with frequently. and idk she seems so uncomfortable talking about this, maybe because she had that impression of mulder going in but focused on the work, didn’t hold what everyone said about mulder against him…and idk, it’s just bad manners to talk badly about your partner?! like what is wrong with this man, how would this endear her toward him? legit, he’s trying to steal her from mulder and he’s just so bad at it. it only gets Worse.
AND THEN he has the audacity to ask for their help on a case right after this

LITERALLY TRYING TO STEAL HER. and what is his real motive? i don’t get it lol and i just hate him. but i guess it’s about to bring some of my most favorite moments so there’s that.
(also the way they’re discussing gruesome murders over lunch. she’s literally looking at pictures in the middle of her meal 😭 — flash forward to jersey devil when she won’t discuss the case with her lame date over dinner lol kinda funny cuz she could handle it, but regular civilians could not)
and so of course she brings in mulder — because she knows colton actually wanted her to & because she doesn’t work a case without her partner she was explicitly assigned to work with. this conversation simultaneously makes me giggle & hurts my heart
so why didn’t they ask me?
they’re friends of mine from the academy. i’m sure they just felt more comfortable talking to me

mulder, look, colton plays by the book, and you don’t. they feel your methods, your theories, are…

he really doesn’t want her to think he’s spooky. i love the way she’s honest with him but doesn’t want to hurt or insult him, and she tries to do it so kindly (scully has the BIGGEST heart in the world and i adore her)
but then of course colton walks in, and mulder is annoyed & jealous so he decides to mess with colton. i think these two men being all territorial & basically having a cock fight over her really upsets her. and she just seems conflicted. she’s embarrassed by mulder’s behavior in front of colton, part of her wants to move up, but i don’t think she’s loved colton’s behavior so far. she gives them both several chances through this ep…
mulder always gets mocked but he continuously finds important evidence that other agents would never even think to look. (and colton tells scully about his shitty theory 🙄)
mulder loves to show scully old x files & evidence. it’s sweet honestly. too bad scully is annoyed with him and took his alien comments too seriously. she can’t take his theory seriously — how could she? a 100+ yr old serial killer and this is only their third case together.
scully’s conflicting thoughts & feelings are just. so palpable. she already feels a loyalty to mulder but it’s hard to reconcile with her own beliefs & fbi procedure and it’s even harder when they’re working with other agents who ~go by the book~ (but literally scully is TOO GOOD to go by the book when it’s wrong & isn’t actually serving justice yet always does her best to keep mulder in line)
the fact that mulder “asks” her to have a separate investigation. let colton have his and they can have theirs. unclear what her decision really is, cuz it seems like she’s working both — or is it just one to her?
the profile she writes & presents to VCS is pretty damn accurate. tooms looks somewhere between 25-35, he’s got a uniform, blends in when his eyes aren’t all yellow lol
but OOF idk how she gets through it when they start taking a shot at mulder & everyone laughs. she’s too kind & professional for that kind of behavior but saying anything could hurt her working relationship with these guys (and there is still a case to solve…) and it seems to be she’s contemplating a lot. about how mulder is treated, her choices & what she wants, what kind of work environment & partnership she wants…
i love the stakeout scene. it freaks me out that she’s alone?? doesn’t seem right even if others are on site. but of course mulder shows up and she gets all snippy 😂 he’s telling her she’s wrong, she thinks she’s right. AND FINALLY. scully turns out to be right and mulder actually says it. i love him for that.
(also does tooms crawl out of a *closed* vent? does that seem right if he was trying to do his job?)
the lie detector test. more reasons to hate colton & the vcs guys. tooms seemingly passed but the two questions mulder put in, he failed. vcs bros want to let him go but scully still thinks he’s the guy, mulder agrees. but asshole vcs guy let’s him go and colton tries to make scully feel better ~it doesn’t mean your profile’s wrong~ like you’re so dumb bro. literally. that wasn’t actually why she was bothered. but that’s how he’d be feeling, ego bruised.
now it’s one of my favorite moments !!!!!!!!
tom, i want to thank you for letting me put in some time with the VCS. but i am officially assigned to the x files.
i’ll see what i can do about that.

you said mulder was out there. that guy’s insane.
like. she says that after they’re so aggressive toward mulder. i get it, he seems crazy. but he’s an fbi agent for a reason. just because you don’t like what he investigates (because y’all would be so far out of your depth and USELESS like you are with this case) doesn’t mean you should be so aggressive & disrespectful. like where is the professional decorum. it’s so fucking embarrassing.
and besides that, the vcs guys don’t listen to her. and even when mulder doesn’t agree, he listens to her. even as he’s pushing his own theory. he listens to her and they follow the evidence.
sincerely the way colton treats her like a damsel is ridiculous. drives me crazy.
AND THEN THE SCENE. scully starts out frustrated but mulder is mulder
you knew they wouldn’t believe you. why did you push it?
maybe i thought you caught the right guy… and maybe i run into so many people who are hostile just because they can’t open their minds to the possibilities that sometimes the need to mess with their heads outweighs the millstone of humiliation.
it seems like you were acting very territorial. i don’t know, forget it.
of course i was. [fingers get necklace & she looks down at his hand] in our investigations, you may not always agree with me, but at least you respect the journey. and if you want to continue working with them, i won’t hold it against you. [he walks away & she’s contemplating everything that just happened]
no-oh. i don’t know. you must have something more than your polygraph interpretation to back up this bizarre theory and i have to see what that is.
LITERALLY I WANT TO DIE. first he tells her that he thinks she caught the right guy *and* is honest about why he’s behaved the way he did. and then he validates her even more admitting he was being territorial. he focuses on the work because at this point, their relationship is professional (and it’s definite it comfort zone after being vulnerable). but he gives away so much more when he reaches for her necklace. that was a different kind of territorial. that was FLIRTY. it’s truly just the way he didn’t let her doubt that he was being territorial. yes, it was because of the way they treat him. and because he believes she’s right & respects her work. but it was also him being jealous & territorial. THIS IS THE THIRD EPISODE.
and then !! he gives her an out. mulder really wouldn’t blame her if she wanted to work with them, leave the x files, get away from him. and this is when she makes the choice. she follows him, asserts her loyalty under the guise of curiosity. he’s shown her so much honest respect. he’s validated her. he listened to her. it’s what they do for each other.
and so mulder shows her the fingerprints (the computer work is wild to me, he’s just pressing keys and shit happens — i know that’s a thing but i never learned that stuff lol)
i love scully’s stunned face. and the way she never believes his theories & ideas yet she always turns to him for answers, like he should have them all & know everything.
just a thought about tooms — how does he choose his victims? like we see him stalk them. but. why them? i would assume he wants healthy lovers to sustain him during his hibernation but how does he know?
(this feels like the first time we really see what a great team they make. this case has been impossible to crack, with no evidence until they came on the scene. they gathered the evidence, followed the evidence, creating profiles, set up stakeouts, found tooms, connected the past cases — with more to come. all the while being disregarded & shown contempt.)
and this scene lollll colton is freaking out at the latest crime scene, yelling at everyone when scully & mulder show up and of course, he tries to stop them.
look at this point i’m willing to give any theory a shot…any sane theory
what’s the matter colton? afraid i’m gonna solve your case? [he grabs mulder ?!]
tom, we have authorized access to this crime scene. a report of you obstructing another agents investigation might stick out on your personnel file.
look dana, whose side are you on?

all of this was delicious.
one of the things that gets me about colton is how much he cares about moving up & looking good — not so much about getting the case solved. he’s so desperate. and i think scully thinks she wants to move up until she witnesses his behavior. because scully genuinely cares about justice, putting away murderers, solving the crime, finding the truth — and she isn’t going to prioritize herself / her career over that. she’ll do what it takes even if that means not getting full credit or any credit at all. yeah, she wants that approval & validation, but there are other ways to get that. i think this is the case where she really makes that choice. working with someone who values her work, mind & companionship — and who genuinely shows her care & respect — will win out over moving up. *especially* if it means shitting on someone & interferes with solving the case.
ALSO i love how she has no problem using what she knows about colton to defend mulder & stake their rights on the case. colton is fucking flabbergasted & livid. and wholly inadequate to solve this one. he can’t even say anything else because he would just further embarrass himself.
(theres such a *sound* to 90s shows & the way they speak !! something about scully specifically reminds me of charmed. (of course this was first but charmed was my pre teen obsession so it always goes back to that lol) and i just LOVE IT. maybe it’s specific to supernatural shows, idk. and i have no idea how to describe/explain it.)
anyway. this is when mulder finds another of toms’s fingerprints & that he took a keepsake. something VCS hasn’t seemed to pick up on at all? (embarrassinggggg) and so they continue *their investigation* find out what they can about tooms — fake address, hasn’t been to work since he was arrested. they bounce some theories back — scully thinks it could be different generations. parents raising the kid, passing on the sociopathic behavior. but mulder doesn’t think that can explain the fingerprints. the way they always ask what the other thinks really gets me. it’s precious.
(and the way mulder couldn’t figure out 30 years from 1993 is hilarious. scully didn’t even have to think about it. he ought have an eidetic memory but scully is the true genius & nerd here. AND his “and you’re gonna be head of the bureau by then” line is my favorite. he thinks so much of her. he knows she could play the game to move up if she wanted to. and she really is that good and only gets better the longer they work together. FEELINGS.)
so he goes through birth certificates, marriage certificates & death certificates for gods know how long and can’t find anything for tooms. but scully finds the original investigator
“i’ve been waiting 25 years for you” he never let go of the case. never solved it. but he knew it was tooms, kept all the evidence. official & unofficial — including a picture of tooms looking exactly the same from 30 years ago & the same address they have on file — and gladly hands it right over to them. (idk how i feel about his comparison but his line ‘these horrible human acts gave birth to a human…monster’ is really something)
frank whatever-his-name-is was fully aware tooms took the livers *and* a personal belonging of the victims. crazy what you could learn from properly connecting cases !!! because even if scully is right & it’s generational, it would be logical to think they’d follow the same patterns. and if mulder’s right, it’s the same guy following the same patterns lmao
this scene always cracks me up too. find a creepy hole in the wall and just head right in. crazy people. they find the trophies & a ~nest~
oh my god mulder. it smells like…i think it’s bile.

another damn instance of agents being dickheads to mulder. calling him spooky to his face, laughing at him. yet he just walks away. flash to colton confronting scully & being the biggest ass yet again. i love the way she wants to avoid the conversation “i have to meet mulder”
she’s finally lost all respect for him.

literally scully switching from tom to colton here is such a move. (he never called her agent scully, not even dr. scully. always dana despite this being a professional setting. he never actually showed her respect or courtesy. he was using her & trying to make it appealing to her. too bad he fucked up so badly.) and it’s so funny — what is a sign of respect, professionalism and eventually camaraderie & intimacy (of course also a way to keep some healthy distance in their partnership lol) with mulder is a demotion for colton. he lost the privilege of knowing her personally.
so, she lets colton makes the call, heads home & calls mulder. she so wanted to commiserate with him, but he doesn’t answer either (cuz he went to the stakeout 😩)
mulder, you must have gone out since colton has given us the night off. i say we file a complaint against him. i am furious. give me a call when you get in. okay. bye.
why is this SO ADORABLE?! like. yes they’re partners, they need to talk about this. but it’s so damn sweet the way she says all of this to him?!
and tooms is already at her places as mulder discovers her necklace among his trophies — which he obviously recognizes immediately and he speeds off to scully’s. cuz he knows where she lives. and he breaks down her door for the first time…
scully already got her warning though. the nasty bile so she’s able to go for her gun, but tooms still manages to surprise her gdi. and mulder is just in time to watch her escape him, stop him from escaping & cuff him to her bath tub. AMAZING. mulder was terrified for her but now he’s just in awe of scully. my favorite mulder.
{EDIT: also they really should report colton because he purposely interferes with their investigation — they had just cause for the stakeout. they literally found the trophies from the victims, going back to 1933 & 1903 and the current victims and his freaky nest. in no way was it an irresponsible use of man-hours. and i hope it destroys his career when scully is attacked & she catches tooms.}
cut to frank keeping a clipping of the newspaper article saying tooms was caught — cut again to tooms making another nest & mulder watching him, waiting for scully.
i guess there was a lot in this episode but i’m so glad they *finally* acknowledge she’s a doctor. (she ordered tests, many abnormalities yada yada) like why didn’t she have anything to do with the autopsies? bet she would have found ~something~ they missed. like mulder found the the fingerprints & realized he took trophies.
the way he’s contemplating that the general population has no idea there’s something else to be afraid of & protect themselves from. fancy alarm systems won’t save them from tooms. “it again enough” and scully SO SWEETLY touches his arm, slides her hand down to his bicep & squeezes until he turns to leave with her — she’s so touchy too !!! how many touches did i not notice in this season? like idk man. the comfort she wants to give him. she doesn’t use words, saying they caught him. no. she uses touch. a small one but it feels like a big deal to me. i can’t remember her touching him after getting him back in the second episode, or any time during. besides the handshake & the hug in the pilot, he was always the one to put his hand on her back or arm.

here’s a plot wishlist of things i’m thinking about lately but would prefer to plot than write opens for. i’d also prefer to plot on discord but it’s not entirely necessary since obviously i’ll be writing on this account. some of them are kind of variations of the same thing but i think it makes it clear what kind of stuff i really love lmao. if you like this i’ll im you, but even if you like a lot of them it would be amazing if you could whittle it down to 2-3 tops. reblogging and messaging people when i’m online in the morning!
hot & heavy by lucy dacus inspired — the angst of your first love, homoerotic teenage best friend angst coming back to haunt you, bitterness and nostalgia mingling in the worst way, you hate her and you still love her after all this time. optional: period piece (70s, 80s, 90s, early 00s), a dead friend dragging them back to town, one of them is still closeted.
fear street inspired — small towns where dark, horrible things have happened and keep happening but not everyone can afford to clear out, young people taking on a legacy of evil in the name of love, the truth of the past being unearthed, the loss along the way. optional: period piece (90s), we can run with something similar to fear street in terms of why the killers exist or come up with our own thing.
college sleuths — a body found in a classroom or maybe an old unsolved mystery, a small campus cradled by woods and hidden from the world, a desperate need to uncover what everyone else wants to cover up, a righteousness or maybe an obligation to the dead, an eventual game of cat and mouse as they creep closer to the truth. optional: literally everything i listed can be tweaked, i just love the idea of a pair of people (even reluctantly) solving a murder.
scooby doo inspired, college cryptid/supernatural hunters — they’re the only ones who believe and maybe that’s okay, could be a mumu/could utilise npc characters if we’d like a group. optional: more of a buffy style scooby gang who are solving problems/include creatures in it.
dark academia, the secret history inspired —
zombie apocalypse romance... with a twist on top of that — what’s more romantic than finding your soulmate at the end of the world? well, i guess if she’s also an unhinged person who will murder humans too, if they cross her. finding out she killed her last s/o somehow doesn’t phase you. basically: muse a has met someone after so long alone but muse b is a little crazy and they get into shenanigans.
thoroughbreds inspired — unsettling girls forming a strange bond in rekindling a childhood friendship, uncomfortable step fathers, murder as a tool to solve problems rather than a ghastly act, taking blame as a romantic gesture. gifset for fun inspo.
a return to the hurt/comfort fanfic tag. i’d like to explore deeper things while also dealing with the relationship between two characters. optionally but not limited to: grief, abuse (tentatively and with discussion about parameters), child custody issues, divorce, etc.

Okay so I hope you guys r ready for a long one because baby I’ve had an interesting week.
So on Monday I accidentally no-call no-showed to my second job. I only got the messages like an hour after my shift was supposed to end so like I really fucked up. The next day, I got an email asking me what happened and I was immediately overcome with anxiety and just didn’t respond. Then on Wednesday I was like okay I really need this extra income so I will deal with this. I’d had a great day sales wise at my Real Job (tm) so I was feeling jazzed enough to want to deal with it. I got home an immediately I was The Opposite Of Jazzed and send off my login information for my email to my best friend who dealt with it because she’s the best person on this fucking planet.
So then today, Thursday, I got into my Real Job and found out that my boss was recommending me for a full time leadership position. I was very pumped and still am. Then, after that shift, I hightailed it to my second job (the one I no-call no-showed at on Monday) and sat in absolute fucking agony for 30 minutes while I thought about what to say in the impending Corporate Meeting Regarding My Behaviour. I got in there and turns out I was going to be completely on my own for my first close and I was like cool great I don’t have to Have a Meeting.
Everything was going good for a while until I met my fucking supervisor: a middle aged man with a ponytail. Immediately the vibes were off but I was like Nah you’re just not used to working with men. My Real Job (tm) only has 12 men on the payroll company wide and my previous jobs have all been predominantly staffed by women/queer people so like I just don’t see many straight/cis men in the workplace.
Anyway I was right to have weird vibes about him because the ENTIRE NIGHT anytime we came face to face he was hitting on me. At one point I was trying to get him to come over without hollering over a customers head by making eye contact with him. He comes over and just said “oh sorry I didn’t think you wanted me to come over I just thought you were checking me out” and I just laughed uncomfortably because there was a customer right in front of us. He proceeded to get uncomfortably close to me and do the task I was trying to do completely wrong.
And then finally, it was time to close. This was my first time closing and I had no clue what the procedure was in the slightest. I get locked in a fucking cash office with him while he got uncomfortably close to me and we counted my till. At every other job I’ve ever had I’ve either counted my own till and had it verified by someone else the next day or just not had to deal with it. And normally I am not the type to feel anxious about being locked in a tiny room with someone because I know I’m fuckin safe but this dude?? Dog the only thing that brought me comfort was the fact that we both knew there were cameras in there. Like I know he was probably trying to be nice / funny and all but like he just gave me the creeps.
Anyway I’m counting down the days until I find out if I get that leadership position at my Real Job so I don’t have to go back to my second job ever again. A 30% discount on groceries is not worth it at this point what the fuck. Like I’d already lost patience with my second job pretty soon after I started but like this is just another nail in the coffin. I’m losing my mind because realistically I’m probably just missing a joke of some kind so I can’t really go to HR with anything cuz like he didn’t do anything but have pungent vibes and creep me out but also I don’t ever want to work with him again because I care about my own peace too much. I’ve got a light at the end of the tunnel so I’m just gonna avoid him until I can secure a full time gig at My Real Job

Hello, and welcome to my nerdy little spot! :) I'm BB, I'm 24, and I'm a queer Korean American college student living in upstate NY :))
I'm genderfluid and nonbinary, and go by they/them. I'm also pan and demisexual, but I also vibe with bi as a label, so I just generally describe myself as queer when it comes to my orientation labels :)
I post about Daniel Jackson (Stargate SG-1) and K-Pop the most (I’ve been a multistan since 2012!). I'm also new to self-shipping, and currently write about my f/o and s/i, Daniel Jackson and Ji-Yu, respectively. I also write the occasional Daniel Jackson x Reader fic, as well as some Stargate headcanons, but I am a full-time uni student with a part-time job, so my ability to write fanfic is generally sporadic lol. Self-Ship Update:
Regarding my self-ship, "Can I touch your heart?", I currently have a handful of chapters uploaded for the series, but I plan to rewrite it and reboot it sometime this year (2024). Ji-Yu being a Korean princess from a planet resembling the Joseon Dynasty, joining the Tau'ri, and her and Daniel getting together will be kept the same, but the general background and quality of the plot will be improved in the rewrite. I just wanted to tell you that I LOVED part 2 of Final Girl. Very well written and it had me dying of laughter at certain parts 🤣 like Stu going 'Your mom is hot!' had me done 💀 and the way our mom called us out - 'Do not roll your eyes, he's not a 'monster trying to ruin your life' was so funny for some reason 🤣 Wells sounds like a piece of work and I can't wait to see him and Y/n interact at some point.
All we really know about Wells so far is that Y/n despises him, he drinks alot, and that he's apparently a creep who shows too much interest in Y/n's skirt size 🤢 I think that's the gist of it. I adore our mom lol their mother-daughter dynamic is so cute. Out here threatening to sue the hospital and making us stay overnight 💀 MOM just lemme be FREE 😮💨
The way Billy got wistful after seeing us interact with our mom 🥺 and Stu got this strange look too. You can tell Billy was remembering his mom. Also love how competitive Stu and Billy seem to be when it comes to us 🤭 Overall great chapter ❤️

girly you have me near tears!! i love this so much and i was having a rough day (migraine and someone almost rear ended my car!!) and this made me so happy :)) I answered your question at the end of my rant in bold lol,, feel free to scroll to the bottom (also i'm having so much fun talking about them and their dynamics, so if anyone wants to have a final girl talk, send me something!!)
I don't want to spoil anything but i will say that when we finally get a Wells interaction, a lot of things will be made clear. He does kind of have a pervy vibe but that's not what Y/n hates most, not to spoil things but i'm just going to say that Y/n's mom in a relationship and Y/n's mom single are two different people.
I'm so glad you love the mother-daughter relationship as it is going to be a little bittersweet :)) I picture her as a more frazzled Lorelai Gilmore type (if you've watched Gilmore Girls lol) and even though they're super close, Y/n and her make mistakes when it comes to each other but it's all just bc they grew up together, y'know?? And their relationship really affects Billy and Stu.
First off, I really think that Billy and Stu would have a big thing for dependency. Especially Billy (cough, cough mommy issues). A big thing in their lives is absence of positive family bonds, and that's part of the reason they're so close, and so when they first started feeling interested in Y/n (Side note: I actually think Stu would develop a 'crush (obsession)' first and then try to convince Billy to talk to her bc he knows she's special) , and they learned about her home life, they'd resent that relationship with her mom for two reasons.
The first reason--if you're so close with your mom, they're not going to be all you have. Y/n is going to be inherently less dependent on them because she has another support system.
The second reason--they won't really admit this to themselves, let alone to each other, but they're jealous. It's kind of a petty jealousy, but it is a jealousy. I think Stu would be a bit more vocal about this because of the kinda passive aggressive jokes he makes, but it would hit Billy harder. Sometimes he might even lash out at Y/n after seeing her mom do something particularly motherly.
Even Wells kind of plays into this jealousy at first because neither Billy or Stu have met him. They know Y/n complains about him, but they think it's all superficial. A girl who doesn't want a stepdad, that's it. They'll joke or make comments about it even when Y/n gets cagey and uncomfortable and they can tell. They don't mean to consciously, but they're kinda 'punishing' you for having so many parental role models in your life.
Until they learn the real reason Y/n hates Wells because the situation does get worse and Y/n can't keep it secret forever. Then they both really start to hate Wells (and then they feel a tiny bit bad about all the comments they made) and then they get a tiny bit annoyed at you for not saying anything sooner.
they do kinda get a bit better with Y/n’s mom tho!! (she warms up to them and makes one maternal comment and they’re both left shaking fr) mainly bc Gloria is just built different like that, she’d fr solo ghostface with a fresh set of acrylics after a friday night margarita 🙄
Anywaysss,,, sorry i took this as an excuse to ramble about them!! but if anyone wants to talk about Final Girl pls send me stuff!! i have so many thoughts about their dynamics and things to plan!
And!! To answer your question: how many chapters will Final Girl have? That's a little too good of a question lol, I can picture it having around 20 parts bc i think i want to do shorter chapters and more frequent updates, but if y'all prefer longer chapters with a little bit more of a wait between them...lmk!!

What is your favorite horror movie/book?
(it's amazing how I immediately forget all movies and books I ever watched/read as soon as I see the question)
I'm having a hard time deciding on a movie. With horror movies there are two types I like. One, the ones that actually scare me, make me feel uncomfortable or haunted and then there are the ones that end up being a bit silly (intentionally or not). I'm gonna focus on the first kind.
Valhalla Rising
Technically not a horror movie, but it genuinely makes me uncomfortable and creates this creeping tension that I don't see in a lot of other movies. It's about a thrall that escapes only to be recaptured by some Christian Norsemen, who want to start a crusade to the Mediterranean countries but accidentally end up in Greenland, where they are brought to the edge of their sanity and eventually get (rightfully) killed by the natives.
There's not a lot of dialogue and instead many long shots of foggy mountains and the sea. Lots of nature with no living being in sight. But that's what I like about it. It makes one feel powerless, lonely and you can understand why the characters all go slowly insane from the solitude. When there's not complete silence or natural sounds, you have this slow droning in the background that's also very haunting.
As for books: Skull Throne by Jake Ozga
It's a Warhammer short story, but the setting is pretty easy to understand even without any knowledge of the world. Premise is, you have a girl or young woman living alone in a desolate land and abandoned village. Every now and then (human) agents of a chaos god (representing violence and hate) come by looking for survivors to terrorize. The whole thing is set up as a mystery around who the POV character is. There are many clues that become even more meaningful on the second read, like a casual remark that there are bodies underneath her floorboards and sometimes she talks to them. It's told from the first person perspective, and has this very surreal and dreamy narration style, mainly because the mc is high for most of the story.
The girl has visions of someone who looks exactly like her getting captured and decapitated by three chaos agents. She doesn't know if this is her future or her past and tries to block out the visions with drugs. Eventually, one of the men from the vision comes by and she manages to detain and kill him, which makes her feel alive for the first time in forever and she decides to set out to find the other men to take back "her" skull. What makes me especially like this story is that in its essence it's about the intense and deranged bonds between family members.
Below are two of my favourite scenes.
I like this very detached and casual approach of the mc to violence, which fits with having to live in such an awful place and also...her relationship to her parents, which gets revealed later

It's not a movie or book, but I also want to give a special shout-out to this audio short story.

The voice acting is incredible, especially for the tech-priestess. It's one of my favourite type of horror stories. Innocent, unassuming person accidentally stumbles into a world of horror. What they thought of as familiar becomes unfamiliar and frightening and they eventually pay for their carelessness. The helplessness of the protagonist at the end is especially cruel to witness. Even better if the person stumbles upon a secret laboratory or something. I sometimes try to incorporate that into my own writing like Jin finding part of Kenjaku's research in Stitches Across The Eye or Wasuke visiting Jin in Quiet of the Cold, where he first only subtly notices something is off until finding Jin's corpse. They both don't get directly harmed in those cases and what they find isn't nearly as horrifying as this story, but I tried to go for the same kind of vibe.

It’s a good thing when young adults realise that, though there is NOTHING wrong with liking stuff meant for kids and teens, or sometimes feeling younger, that they are fundamentally adults and, in when it really comes down to it, in the same group as other adults. Like, if you’re in your early twenties, you are closer to people several decades older than you, than to people just a few years younger than you. That doesn’t mean you have to get on or be close with much older people; it doesn’t mean you couldn’t be jolly good buddies with teens. But fundamentally, though not mathematically, 25 is closer to 50 than to 15. Don’t forget that.
This is also especially important when it comes to romantic or sexual relationships. If someone assaults you or gets too close to you in ways that make you uncomfortable then that is ALWAYS wrong. But, say, a much older person is not a creep or pedo just for being attratced to you when you are a young adult – they are a creep and an assaulter when they don’t respect your No. But the same goes for a person your age. On the other hand, being a twenty something who likes cartoons or stuff doesn’t make it okay to be in relationship with a teen – “feeling like a kid” doesn’t change anything. On tumblr in particular many adults like to “categorize” themselves as children, in ways that are truly concerning, especially in their attutude towards actual children.
I do not play down the vulnerability or inexperience of very young adults, nor the complexities of growing up or the fact that legally coming of age doesn’t mean that one isn’t just a full blown adult just now, or the dangers of people who want to exploit just that. But infantilizing actual adults is NOT the solution to that. It’s better to point out that people who are not pedophiles can be really bad people and exploit aspects of a person’s development or life circumstances, rather than to pretend that anyone pushing thirty is in acute danger of becoming a victim of child abuse. It’s also important to point out that mere sexual attraction to an adult person – if unrelated to any sort of misbehavious – is not a sign of perversion, even if that adult person is young. And also that there is a growing problem of young adults who think their “childishness” and youth would justify a sexual or romantic approach to actual kids and teens.
And because this is tumblr, let me repeat:
Sexual assault is BAD. People have to respect your rejection. BUT people are not perverts or creeps or pedos if they are attracted to you when you are a LITERAL ADULT.
You can like and be friends with kids if you’re an adult. You can just... not vibe with older adults, but you need to recognize that they are not some evil different species.
Liking kids’ stuff as an adult is FINE. But it doesn’t make YOU a kid. It does not make the STUFF for adults either. Just deal with being an adult enjoying children’s media.
At a certain age your liking of children should be from the perspective of an adult; not from the perspective of a peer. If you’re a very young adult who’s attracted to an older teen, then that is actually normal – but you’re the one with the responsibility to handle that for yourself and leave them out of it. If you dislike the attentions of an older adult, you are absolutely in the right for that, but don’t pretend that’s because “you’re still a kid”.
People always develop, even adults. People can always be predators, people can always be assholes, and people can always exploit a person’s “deficiencies” or circumstances. But being some years younger than someone else doesn’t automatically place an adult person in a very terrible situation, even if it is a factor to consider in romantic, platonic, professional or other relationships – one of many factors.

Why do I feel like you look amazing in blue? Like you’re sitting in class with a white sweater and dark blue jeans and cute brown ankle boots with buttons on the side and the sun shines on you just right from the window and your eyes look like they have tiny stars in them and your skin is shadowed with a dark shade on a part of your face as the other part is hit by the sunlight. This is all as you make your adorable concentrated face cause you’re paying attention in class and sit near the front. It just seems like your vibe you know? Also idk why but I can totally imagine you looking amazing in a short bobcut with blue highlights. Maybe piecing and rings too? Overall just hardcore blue fairy vibes is what I get from you.
I know it’s been a minute. Sooooo to cope with TR ending I’m currently reading Lore Olympus and I’m obsessed. Already halfway through and I just started yesterday 💀💀. I don’t choose the obsession the obsession chooses me 😌. I put off reading it for so long cause people were really pushy (and in annoying way) about it and that kinda made me lose my initial interest and I wanted to read it in my own time. I honestly end up with diet errors coping mechanisms like seriously unconscious why? (In a confused manner I mean) But like it’s a double-edged sword cause Hades and Persophone remind me so of Mikey and Takemitchy (they’re my OTP everything abt them just absolutely destroys me in a good way tho so much love and comfort and angst UGH) There had not been a night where I haven’t cried over them and their story and TR subsequent I started reading TR so like. Yeah. God I love that story so much. I cant believe it’s over. Izana brainrot still going string btw I even have a plot to our love story 😌. Lore Olympus has give me a bunch of ideas for both my love story with Izana and Takemikey fanfics 👀👀. Have you heard of Lore Olympus? It’s a webtoon and it’s just breathtaking. I highly recommend it. Cue me not liking minthe and I'm so glad that Hades fell for Persephone and not her, cause persephone fits his rugged personality so well; its been months since I read last cause I forget that things have been updated with so many busy things happening at once; I read other works as well like the remarried empress, I love yoo, i used to read unordinary now idk what the scenario looks like, home sweet home- been a while since i read that, lookism, eggnoid, my dear cold blooded king, siren's lament, i was reading windbreaker... and let's play. Even that one with bts in it but then I dropped reading it (save me was it…?)
I absolutely love the art style of Lore Olympus. Maybe I should pick it up to see if things are fine with Hades and Persephone... Lore olympus reminds me of... *got struck by an idea* brb cause you'll see after I release this.
I'm doing pretty good! Fifa is here and I'm pretty excited - cause we take football pretty seriously here- working on a new piece (and dw its angsty fluffy; just finished with Nagi and I'm on Oliver now - wanna cry cause this man doesn't exist)

Hey again, it’s the love light gleams anon! Omg I loved, loved, loved yesterday’s update. It was soo in-keeping with the Evie/Beckett dynamic when she first arrives at the cabin and he’s desperately wanting to kiss her, hold her, ask her to stay forever. Your chapter had that pining, yearning, emotionally repressed combination of Anthony and Beckett down so well! Would you ever consider writing a future chapter from Anthony’s POV or swapping perspectives? I’m super curious what he was thinking when poor Kate was self-doubting thinking she made him uncomfortable and that he doesn’t return her feelings!
Also, Kate’s ideas for the farms are so great! Reminds me of some of the farms I’ve visited in upstate NY and New Hampshire that have all these seasonal related activities such as apple-picking, bakeries selling apple-cider, apple cider donuts and apple pies etc, pumpkin patches and hay bale mazes. Then of course the Christmassy things for Winter. Cute baby goats for everyone! Lol now I’m getting carried away. But thanks again for the new chapter, you captured so well how there are so many things Anthony wants but doesn’t feel he can ask for. I’m so glad he has Eggnog to keep him company until Kate can return to Aubrey!!
PS ketchup on eggs is absolutely horrific! I’m with you and Ant there. So excited about Kate’s return to the farm and hoping for another Michael cameo!! 💕

it's been interesting trying to meld them sort of, but i still want them to feel like kate and anthony. they are definitely different from their canon counterparts but hopefully you see them peek through. anthony is grumpy just like beckett and he's certainly not as wound up as canon anthony but he has that melancholy vibe still. family comes first to him still (he still thinks he knows best, but in a modern!verse he's been put in his place a bit more). love and loss still terrify him. and he's the nicest man in england aubrey (even though he grumbles most of the time). he's going to be different from beckett in a few ways -- he doesn't suffer from aversion of too much noise, but he doesn't like bit sudden noises (you find out why later).
kate i feel like i haven't quite hit the mark with. i don't think she's too similar to evie other than being burnt out at her job (which is fine with me tbh). she doesn't have the need to go anywhere -- that's why her trips such a big deal. she's be content to live her life in the same place, doing the same things for almost a decade. she's not a risk taker, she's not impulsive, she avoids change. i just don't know if i've captured her voice. idk.
as for a POV change i'm thinking about it, orrrr i'm just going to write a one shot from anthony's pov what he thought all through december. yet to decide. but i do know he's just met the most stunning girl who looked so alive on that empty street, who seems to be attracted to him too, who fits in with his friends/family, and is thoughtful and kind. snag is, she's only here for a weekend and his house is her only refuge. what creep makes a move on a girl when she's all alone in a place she doesn't know, a little tipsy and too late to go anywhere else if she's uncomfortable? could never be him. besides, it's not like she's going to visit again anytime soon. ;)
don't we all just want a little life on an idyllic farm? sign me up.
tbh i know anthony is more of a cat guy but i just saw that pic of the dog i used for the moodboard and had to incorporate it.
michael will be back a few times in this fic, so no worries there ;)
