A meme I made a while ago and forgot to post.
Tumblr media
An explanation because this is super niche:
So James Jesse helped to train Eddie Bloomberg when he was still Kid Devil. Then gained personal beef with Neron by defeating him during underworld unleashed, then defeated him again in New Year Evil and then a few years later Eddie went and sold his soul to Neron in exchange for his powers...
Anyway I have headcannons about James and Eddie if anyone's interested in those two.

Things I didn't realize before I started clicking Boop - That you can see who Boops you. So a bunch of people I don't even follow are seeing my name for the first time.
No regrets though.

You are my new favorite person and i will definitely bother you again in the future with my Batman related questions.
I really need someone to fill me in with what happened after the Gotham War thing and Bruce's little breakdown. I was lurking, and saw flashes of what was going on, and then it stopped. Not dissimilar to a fever dream. Here is my current impression of what is going on based on what random panels go across my various dashes.
Bruce had an alternate persona that took over occasionally and took over and was a raging dick to all of Bruce's loved ones. During this time Jason got a microchip in his brain. It is unclear which Bruce did this, so I'm just saying he did that while in the midst of a psychotic break. Alternate persona got downloaded into a robot, Bruce fought it, and that batfamily... did the batfamily help? And I think Joker and Jason are working together in an event called the Joker war? Anyways, I think the robot escapes? And I have no idea what the state of the batfamily is, and who's talking to who currently. Or where the whole people turning into animals thing lies in continuity. I have questions. Is Nightwing talking to Bruce? Have Bruce and Jason talked? Where is Jason? Did Bruce keep custody of Damien?
I know I would have answers if I followed the comics more closely, but I still like Batman and I believe that if I kept up with comics, that would quickly change.

Oh look, a possible answer to my previous post... or the beginning of more questions, could be both
Tumblr media
See, there are words, and then there are actions. And those words and actions are not lining up.
Shortly before this panel, Zur says, “Son, calm down. I don’t want to trigger your fear. What I did to you…it’s inexcusable.”
Like, he’s actually admitting that he did something wrong and apologizing. Step forward, right? No. Because Zur has an aptitude for dishonesty and manipulation that Bruce really doesn’t seem to have.
So, like, Bruce has been a bastard frequently in recent years. Maybe even abusive, depending on your interpretation. But Zur is manipulative in a way I haven’t seen from Bruce. He says one thing and does another. He doesn’t fail at communicating, he just lies. Oh, and he is openly affectionate. He tells Jason he loves him and hugs Damian. He apologizes. He does all these good things that Bruce rarely does. But he’s insincere in a way that Bruce isn’t.
When I read Batman #138, I thought that the backup personality influencing Bruce wasn’t much of an excuse, especially with the clear distinction between whose thoughts were whose (and while Zur’s thoughts were egging him on, Bruce was still clearly the one making decisions)—that it was still Bruce crossing those lines. But, with the way Zur is in Batman #145, the difference between Zur and Bruce’s methods is so pronounced and how Batman acts in #138 is much more aligned with Zur than Bruce. So I’m more inclined to give Bruce the benefit of the doubt for what happened in #138 and attribute most of it to the backup personality.
Of course, Bruce still created Zur, but I don’t think Bruce as himself is capable of the clear manipulation that Zur is using. When Bruce manipulates his family, he does it accidentally and usually from a place of pain. When Zur does it, it’s calculated. And that makes them a lot more distinct in my mind.

A story lives and breathes by its conflict. So if the conflict is stupid, the story falters.
I was thinking the other day, and about how much more enjoyable a romance film/story is when the main conflict is not a miscommunication or something to do with the relationship. I prefer romantic stories where the couple is overcoming an outside obstacle, so that the conflict is not them overcoming each other but overcoming something that keeps them from being together.
But back to the main point, yes characters have to suffer and conflict has to exist otherwise there is no story.
"must a story have conflict?" yes. hope this helps <3

It deeply bothers me there are no fics in Cherry Magic with corporate espionage as a subplot. Or a main plot. Like, I get it, that's not the genre... But there's so much that can be done with a character who can read minds. Just think about it. Reading minds to get inside scoops on deals. So far that's happened once in the anime, and I need it to happen more. I need the thrills and the angst and the laughs because Adashi would make the worst corporate spy.

When somebody shares a quote by a famous author like it's something the author personally said and believed, but you know it was actually spoken by a character you're not supposed to like... 😐

I am a sucker for found family, and father-son dynamics. So I really miss that about this show. And some other things.

I will always, always, ALWAYS appreciate the self-awareness Shaina is written with where she's like, "I do love Seiya, but I'm a pretty fucked up person and even if he did like me back nothing good would come of a relationship between the two of us."
And that's it. The writers don't do any weird will-they-won't-they bullshit or try to make it seem like it's a future possibility. or rather if they do i haven't gotten to that part yet but if they haven't done it already they probably won't anytime soon
They let the love be unrequited and write Shaina to handle it in a non-creepy way. The only thing Shaina does about her feelings is that she won't let him die.
I think I just like how relationships platonic, familial or otherwise are written in this show.

I feel like DC doesn’t do nearly enough with the fact that booster gold is supposed to be secretly travelling through time fixing things. Like imagine how funny it’d be if in the background of a random comic fight you just saw booster appear and like take out a bad guy that was gonna kill someone and then just dip with no explanation.
