Lupin: Literature teacher, the kind robin Williams would represent in a movie, with very peculiar takes on classical authors' sexualities (all the Tumblr takes on literature are part of his lessons, you know it's true)

Sirius: I thought s lot about this one, and social service worker? Because he'd love to work with kids but doesn't have the patience nor the attitude to be a teacher, he'd love to be able to protect kids from abusive households and the fact that he makes little money would 100% ashame his family, which he'd enjoy to no end

Tonks: tatoo artist def, shed become famous thanks to her amazing artworks and get a lot of body modifications herself. Also, she's sent a few lost 18 year olds Sirius' way in the past, when she thought they needed someone that cared more than a tattoo

Hagrid: same job, guarding a big ass forest and befriending the bears and the deers alike, no need to change anything imo

Snape: that highschool chemistry teacher that makes everyone hate the subject and has been reported for student abuse several times. I will take no criticism in this

Molly and Arthur: shed still be a stay-at-home mother, but she'd have a blog with recipes and DIYs for other momma's. He'd fix dishwashers or something like that for a living, but he'd also have a little workshop where he takes pieces that no longer work and put them together to invent things, most of them useless but interesting nonetheless

James: we don't have a lot of canon info on hum, but I'm going to say he inherits his dad's millionaire company. Which is quite fun because he'll often go to a pub with Sirius and Lupin and people will wonder wtf a dude in a 10K suit is doing chatting and laughing with two dudes that look like a coffee shop au, at best.

Lily: she's a important lawyer that mainly works "protect the little guy" cases but will sometimes take quite famous cases and beat the opponents ass in court like it's not big deal, then go back to her small office and use the money to keep rich assholes on their toes. No one quite believes who she's married to.

Dumbledore: he's publicly known as an author, a genius scientist with the mind if a genius that can jump from chemistry to astrophysics without breaking a sweat, and has also won literature prices for his novels. On the other hand, he's also (one of) the most influential persons in the country, having politicians, lawyers, businessman and many others in his pocket, as well as afraid of him

I love how, as much as she messes with every single other time period in the hpverse, JKR doesn't seem to want to even get close to the Marauders. She touches Harry, his kids, young Dumbledore, Tom Riddle's family, the founders, etc. but it looks like she wouldn't touch the Marauders with a ten foot pole.

Allowing the fandom to fill in all the blanks to the point that that side of the fandom has created it's own mythology and headcanons so much that it's completely divorced from canon at this point. Half the stuff that comes out of there not even remotely canon compliant. They're not even hp characters anymore, just ocs with the same name as hp characters like

teddy is the KING of side quests. give him 2 and a half years and bro has probably achieved and experienced everything life has to offer.

he was mastering muay thai in thailand and became a part of an elite martial arts force temporarily. he was volunteering at a soup kitchen and became best friends with a local druglord in the usa. he did some odd jobs in india that had him mastering specialised forms of curse breaking. he taught english at a primary school in japan for a bit and became every school kid’s reference on their resumes that he still gets calls for years later. he visited ethiopia and roomed with an old lady who taught him how to cook all the best dishes and now he’s a beast at ethiopian cuisine. he was snorting coke in a gay club in bali where he befriended every drag queen and even performed himself because his stage presence is unmatched (they’re obsessed with his metamorphing powers). he met the prime minister of canada on the street when they were walking their dog and they exchanged numbers before teddy even knew they were the PM. he got subsequently arrested and bailed out in australia for possessing illegal drugs on him. he tried out for the paraguay national football team and got rejected but not before charming one of the players mothers so much he ended up hooking up with her and becoming opps with an entire national soccer team. he broke into an abandoned, haunted psych ward in the netherlands and covered it in so much of his street art that the place looks like a work of art now instead of something to be feared.

he also got blackout drunk one night and got a stick and poke tattoo of his ballsacks ON his ballsacks in nicaragua and had to go on a whole journey to remove it four months later himself with ancient magic he learned in the most historically reverent parts of greece. all just to remove his ballsack tattoo. he never told anyone about this. the secret (and the ancient magic) dies with him. i like to think he accidentally made himself one of the most OP characters in the HPverse because of this learning curb.

This was a fucking rollercoaster to read and my favorite part about it is YOU KINDA AINT WRONG 😂😂😂😂😂 he 100% accidentally made himself OP because he was trying to figure himself out while traveling.

So, yeah. Yet another piece for @asthmaticbee FMA/HP crossover cause that is causing all sorts of brain rot for me. Since this is meant to be a horcrux for Herpo the Foul, who is not only the creator behind the horcrux shit but also baskilis in the HPverse, I chose to base the shape on specifically a male baskilis, which is said to have a red feather on it’s head. I also chose to make the eye a green tiger eye gem as a reference to something that Ed is given to wear in the story and green so that it reflects the normal coloring of a baskilis. The eyes we do see if baskilis in the film are normally a yellow color but the piece is made of gold, so I inverted the color choices for the skin and eyes here.

I finished this a few days ago but my sinuses have chosen violence and the energy to post this hasn’t been there.

Most Popular: The Magic Word. Wow, turns out it’s in the Carry On fandom, which I flirted with pre-HPverse. Fanfic of fanfic of fanfic! So meta! Bricks & Mortar is my most popular Drarry fic, followed closely by Harry Potter and the Showstopper of Doom. 

Hidden Gem #1: Only a Change of Time. Ah, 2018. I had a stressful job and reliable childcare and a ridiculously long commute, I was obsessed with Josh Ritter (including the song “Change of Time”), and I was on a train typing out this entire fic on my phone in a single go. I usually do careful, deliberate, kind of plodding world-building, but I relaxed into this one and the words flowed in a way I don’t usually get to experience. And then the podfic by @vaysh11 was just incredible. I cried when I heard her gorgeous voice reading it. It made my writing feel real in a way I’ve never experienced before or since.

Hidden Gem #2: Bespoke. I’m sure the Harry/Draco/Ginny triad puts people off of this one, and I get it -- it’s not normally my thing either, but this was such a fun challenge. I loved the wise counsel of @tackytigerfic and others who know things about fashion, and it was fun to write Harry being just as clueless about the clothes as I was. Also, I think “Love is love, Potter. Or hadn’t you heard,” is the best Draco line I’ve ever written.
