Possible House MD AU Project Plan

Someone stop me from making my next project a House MD/School for Good and Evil AU. I think SGE is such a fascinating world (and so much darker than I think people realize, especially people who are only familiar with the movie, there are two genocides in the first three books). I've been obsessed with it since before the third book was published and it is so much fun to adapt characters into. The possible project would be Hilson based, and involve some teacher characters from the actual SGE books.

I did this project with SVU a couple years ago and it was SO MUCH FUN. And all my readers were like "okay I have no idea what SGE is but I trust you" and ended up like "I care about this so much what the fuck is going on at the murder school how will the characters escape." I think the same reason it worked for SVU could make it work for House, though obviously it will be different because the characters are different and have different reactions to things. The issue is I only attempted such a crazy AU after like fifty works published in SVU, compared to what will be seven for House.

So bear with me, here are three possible options:

Everyone (Cuddy, Wilson, House, most side characters) are already in Good, but from vastly different backgrounds. This worked for the SVU AU because I think Good is the more interesting and more horrifying school (at least in Evil you're allowed to be gay). Wilson would be the character from "Woods Beyond" or outside the traditional fairytale realm, from a small village, Gavaldon. House is from an upper-class backgrounds within the fairytale realm. House already knew about the evils of Good, and really doesn't want to be there, because it's what his father trained him for. Wilson realizes he's gay and therefore doomed unless he and House (with help from Cuddy) can escape.

House is sorted into Evil, Wilson is sorted into Good. Mainly focuses on how unjust the sorting system can be, since in the books illustrated that a lot of Evil students were abused as children, which spurred on their behavior. Focuses on whether or not someone can be different from what is assumed (Wilson hates the restrictions and fear in Good, House doesn't want to be Evil).

SGE traditional AU: Wilson is sorted into Evil, House is sorted into Good. They are both from Gavaldon, where they were codependent friends (Wilson was the golden boy, House was the outcast). Everyone is shocked, especially them. But like what happens in the books, they both learn that yeah...maybe there is some truth to the sorting. Wilson does like not having to pretend to be perfect and conform to societal rules, and also having an outlet for his inner mean-streak. House likes not being immediately treated as a monster and learning healing potions. They plan to wait out the school and live together with magic in the woods. Except that House hates Good's rules too, and Wilson discovers about 75% of Evil's students die. Things reach a boiling point when House and Wilson are discovered, and House refuses to apologize. Then they must find a way to escape before they are summarily destroyed.

went through your chores choreman tag, and it opened my eyes to the possibilities. in the past, I mostly focused on hilson and huddy and whatever wilson and cuddy are called but never the fellows. you have correct opinions on valewis and middle-aged men being not normal about each other, so you are definitely right about choreman. tell me more about choreman, please, bc your taste? impeccable.

ok coming round to your ask — i feel you because one my first watch i didn't care abt choreman much, all my focus was on hilson and huddy as well. hell, i didn't even like chase till midway through s3 lol even though foreman was my favorite since episode 1.

second watch though, is usually when i notice the smaller details, and the funny thing about choreman is that i am damn sure all of it is entirely unintended. which is fine! the writers paid more attention to hilson/huddy, chameron got some attention (though not a lot), and then foreteen became a thing too. but if you're paying attention only to chase and foreman, it's a RIDE. which i am putting under a readmore to be considerate lol

so season 1 starts off with foreman being the newest member of the team. it's clear they get on fine in the beginning — we see them having lunches together, chase answers foreman's questions about house's insanity, etc. but by the time the vogler arc starts, it becomes clear that foreman, in all his judgy glory, doesn't actually hold a very high opinion of chase; he obviously thinks chase is a spoiled selfish nepo baby who doesn't care about his job. when vogler wants them to fire someone, foreman's vote is for chase. and then he's sort of proven right when chase goes behind their backs to help vogler. from that point onwards the lunches together and jokes become snark and derision, and it's obvious they're not friends.

season 2 is more of the same, pretty much — until euphoria. i can't emphasize enough how meaningful that moment is, with chase and foreman's dad in the chapel. it's really such a small moment, especially at first glance. foreman's dad doesn't know how to talk to him; he's religious, he's got a spiritual perspective on everything (including his wife's alzheimer's) and foreman doesn't. on top of that foreman clearly doesn't visit his family much. he's not very religious, and this seems to be a bone of contention between them. it's clear rodney cares about his son a lot; he just doesn't quite know how to express it. he finds chase in the chapel (as we know from s1, chase is religious too, to put it simply). chase, who has recently lost his own father, who has been watching rodney do his best with his son while his own dad never bothered, has very simple advice. "tell him you love him." barebones, straightforward, and that's exactly what rodney does. when foreman is at his worst, his father holds his hand and says "i don't want to miss you" and that is what gets through to foreman. and it's such a little moment! but it means a lot for foreman and his dad, and it goes a long way to show that chase does understand foreman better than anyone thinks he does.

season 3. things begin to change. it turns out chase is working in the NICU as well, because apparently his shithead of a dad cut him out of his will for reasons we never find out. the tritter arc happens. tritter plays chase, and everyone easily accuses him of betraying them. unsurprising due to the events of s1 but sad because it's obvious chase has changed. chase's frustration and exhaustion at being singled out is clearly visible. none of them are friends, but chase especially tends to be singled out; he's the butt of most of house's jokes, cameron finds her daddy issues jabs hilarious, and foreman mostly ignores him. chase and cameron start an fwb arrangement. foreman loses a patient and begins considering leaving ppth. house sabotages him. chase, who understands people better than anyone thinks he does, figures it out. tries to talk about it with foreman, except foreman — who is ashamed — cuts him off and tells him "i don't like you. i never have, and i never will" which obviously takes chase aback. he refuses to write foreman a recommendation letter. house bullies foreman more than usual. chase stands up for him and gets himself fired for the trouble. foreman leaves. cameron quits.

season 4. foreman has no choice but to return to ppth. surprise, chase and cameron never left either. initially foreman seems annoyed to see chase, especially since chase is betting against him, but chase doesn't give a fuck and continues hanging around foreman. foreman sort of lets it happen because sometimes in life you just have to pick your battles and he's already dealing with house and the fellowship hunger games. the infamous exchange between house and wilson happens ("foreman seems protected. maybe he's gay." "does he become an idiot around chase?") which honestly sums up their entire relationship development pretty well. but we'll get to that. s4 is quite short due to the writer's strike that was going on at the time, and ends with a whopper of a double episode that still makes me cry like a little bitch. at the very end, when everyone is dealing with the aftermath of amber's death, we see foreman sitting alone in a diner booth — until someone places a hand on his shoulder to comfort him. he looks up, smiles, and moves aside to make place. it's chase. he and cameron join foreman for dinner. just like old times, eh?

but something's changed.

season 5. house and wilson are temporarily broken up, which house deals with very normally. as in he hires a PI to stalk wilson and also be his substitute bff. the PI digs up dirt on everyone — except foreman, who is squeaky clean. this should be a good thing. to foreman, it is not. everyone calls him boring so he goes off to find chase like AM I BORING???? and chase is like. um. yeah? though you're not so much boring as intensely repressed. then again you do have a tattoo so what do i know. foreman's rationale for asking chase is that chase doesn't care about him enough to lie to him. still, Means Something that when he wants an honest opinion, he goes to the one guy he claims not to like at all. foreman gets offered a clinical trial. thirteen is in it. she's on the placebo. foreman, who's begun dating her, is in a Dilemma. who does he go to for advice first? you guessed it; the guy he claims he'll never like. they have lunch together, and chase tells him not to be an idiot. foreman, establishing a precedent he will continue to act upon for the rest of the show, is an idiot. more stuff happens which i will not elaborate upon. suffice to say they're clearly friends now, despite whatever foreman says because, as established, he's an idiot. also, many scenes of chase and foreman having lunch together. as people that hate each other do.

chase gets engaged with great difficulty and a very Healthy ignorance of the dynamics of his own relationship. foreman "kidnaps" him and gets drunk at his bachelor party, chase gets drunk too, and foreman wraps his arms around him from behind and convinces him to have one more shot. chase is holding a stuffed kangaroo and leaning into foreman. it's all very ... you know. colleagues. yes. then chase licks a stripper and goes into anaphylactic shock, because that's just how his life is. when chase is being wheeled into the hospital, he begins to tell cameron about the party, and foreman, who claims not to give a shit about him, quickly puts his oxygen mask up to shut him up and save him from cameron's wrath. fun times. s5 failmarriage bachelor party you will always be famous.

and then. whoo boy. season 6. s6 my absolute beloved. chase kills a genocidal dictator. or, if we're being pedantic, commits actions that directly lead to his painful death. foreman finds out, confronts him. he's the head of department because house doesn't want to be. this is a high profile case. it's his ass on the line. chase tells him why he did what he did, and asks that if foreman wants to call the cops, at least let him know so he can tell cameron first. foreman considers this, goes "naw" and, acting upon the previously established precedent, covers up the murder. in s5 he was at risk of losing his license; here he's straight up at risk of jail. it's all gucci though. friendly reminder of his insistence he doesn't give a fuck about chase. anyway. chase suffers from obvious ptsd and confides in foreman as they examine some dude's long decomposed remains. foreman covers for him when cameron begins getting suspicious. chase tells cameron and she, while previously a-ok with murdering the dictator, is now all GASP. HOW DARE. HOUSE HAS CORRUPTED YOU. DIVORCE! DIVORCE FOR YOU FOR ONE THOUSAND YEARS! chase is understandably upset. foreman is like "i get you dude i just had a breakup too ://" and chase is like be SO for real right now. s6 goes on; chase fits in well with 13 and taub, and it's clear this team is actually friends. including foreman and chase.

also. the karaoke scene. wilson pays house's team to take him out with them so he can stop thirdwheeling him and sam. everyone does so individually; chase and foreman do it as a pair. foreman even negotiates a higher fee; presumably to split with chase. they do karaoke together. looks very much like house is thirdwheeling yet another couple. they have fun, though.

season 7 is the season of the famed chastity belt episode. episode 1 itself starts off with shenanigans, as these two along with taub and 13 try to acquire a neurosurgeon. cuddy wants them to hire a female doc to replace 13. chase hires a hot woman whose resume he fundamentally misunderstands. foreman bullies her because he's mad house didn't ask him. chase is like "can you like, not?" and foreman is like. "shit. you right. ok, i will not" and sticks up for her. doesn't matter, she gets fired anyway. the takeaway is that when foreman is power tripping and chase calls him out, he actually listens. as in, pays attention and values chase's opinion and then corrects himself based on it. they've come a long way. they have a lot of fun moments, like playing rock-paper-scissors to see who has to babysit masters; chase being the world's worst wingman to foreman at a wedding; chase whining to foreman that he didn't get put on a billboard and foreman calling him a pretty boy and a swimsuit model. as one does.

stuff happens. huddy break up. 13 comes back. she's real sad because her honestly? her life kinda sucks i can't lie. masters leaves. they get a patient who won a lottery. chase and foreman get into a discussion where chase is like "well you're worried what it means for the hospital that cuddy's mom is suing house and cuddy, so obviously this means you're repressed as fuck." foreman is like "you're HORNY" and chase is like "am not! i am Going To Wait For True Love now." it's a bet. chase has to try to get a rise out of foreman. no one knows what's at stake here, since they don't discuss money, favors, or anything else changing hands. foreman does say, out loud, in front of God and house and country, that if he wins he gets to put chase in a chastity belt. no one is fazed by this. no one is weirded out by this. no one finds it strange. probably it's a given to them all that foreman constantly wants to dom chase. he does it enough in the workplace anyway. nothing new there.

(they both lose the bet, by the way.)

more stuff happens. huddy break up some more. house gives her living room a nonconsensual renovation. house becomes a temporary part of the US prison industrial complex.

season 8 starts off with many changes — foreman is now dean of medicine, and there's no diagnostic department. taub has fucked off to new york, and chase is off surfing somewhere. 13 has found herself a girlfriend. good for her! but then chase and taub come back. two new fellows join the team. foreman tries to boss house around. it goes as well as you'd expect. chase tells him off for being too restrictive and bureaucratic now. foreman is like "shit, you right" and lets them do whatever they want to the patient. chase gets the right diagnosis. the day is saved. this is their first case back.

more little moments. chase and foreman hang out at taub's house while foreman ruminates on the ethics of his relationship. chase plays peekaboo with babies while taub stews in his own jealousy. it's cute, honestly.

then chase gets stabbed, and foreman, for lack of a better word, panics a little. in that he literally can't figure out whose fault this is, so the obvious solution is to get someone else to make that call. he calls in his old mentor. he knows that if it's his fault, he will be fired. he blames himself a bit, wondering if he should've reined house in more. it's ruled to be nobody's fault. chase, reacting in a Normal and healthy manner, starts sleeping around again, then falls in intense Like with a nun. foreman disapproves. the nun ditches him after a religious experience on the surgical table. chase is sad until house yells some common sense into him, and he returns to the team. they get a case with a little girl. chase finds out the little girl's mum is experimenting on her. next scene is literally foreman interrogating the mum while chase stands behind him like they're some medical crime fighting duo. that'd be a fun spin off actually.

treiber, a pathologist who's got beef with chase, gets sick. house and wilson have fucked off to have a grand adventure. everyone panics. foreman tells chase to stop fucking up the case, but also doesn't take him off it. chase puts his entire pussy into solving the case, and decides to leave the team. foreman tells him "about time", indicating he's thought for quite a while that chase has outgrown the department, and is capable of running his own. they hug while a soft romantic song plays in the background. their scenes are cut with those of house and wilson. not sure who the romantic song applies to; probably both pairings if the lyrics are any indication. listen to it here.

more stuff happens. house fakes his death to drive off into the sunset with wilson. foreman is like, i know JUST the guy to replace him!! and hires chase back, the natural conclusion to chase's arc as a doctor. this is a job that foreman has failed at before, and he is trusting it to chase. they've come SUCH a long way. by the end of the show, not only do they respect each other immensely as colleagues, they are close friends who give each other's opinions a lot of weight, and also they are literally parallels to house/cuddy by the end.

also foreman wants to put chase in a chastity belt. there's that, too. may he one day realize his dream. amen.

Recently I’ve been thinking about a version of Baby Ducks AU where Chase is transmasc. House getting custody of 5 y/o Roberta Chase and immediately deciding he is not calling her that because that’s a grandmother’s name. He asks her if there’s a name she goes by. She says she doesn’t know. Her family just called her Roberta. House asks if there’s something she’d *like* to go by, and she’s not sure. She asks House why people call him House. House explains that it’s his last name and in his field of work, people are usually known by their last names. Roberta hears this and decides that if everyone can call House “House”, she’s going to go by her last name, Chase. House is happy to oblige.

House and Wilson noticing quickly that Chase prefers clothes that aren’t super feminine and has interests and hobbies that are more on the masculine side in comparison to Thirteen; very tomboy ish. (Not that Thirteen is a girly girl. I think she’d be pretty evenly split between feminine and masculine hobbies, interests, toys, etc in Baby Ducks AU). Chase gets put into soccer (insists on calling it by its proper name “football” even though Hilson explain Americans won’t understand that) and *loves it*. For Halloween, Chase and Thirteen propose to Hilson that they go as the Skywalker twins from Star Wars. Chase readily volunteers to be Luke. (Sometimes, Thirteen calls Chase “Luke”, even when they’re not playing Star Wars.)

After Halloween, Chase makes a comment about “I wish I could be a boy all the time, not just on Halloween”, and House and Wilson are immediately paying attention and wanting to know more (so they can help, of course). That’s the first time they consider that Chase might just be a boy instead of a girl who’s a tomboy. After exploring that with Chase, they very quickly find out that they have a daughter and a son, not two daughters.

(When Hilson & Chase explain the whole thing to Thirteen, she’s absolutely thrilled to have a brother because now they’re “JUST like Luke and Leia!!!”)

okay Yes big big fan of house nesting when he’s sad/lonely but also finding it demeaning. like he just HAS to make himself miserable it’s his fav hobby.

what iffff during a particularly bad time (bad pain day, case gone awry, etc etc.) house shuts himself up in his apartment & nests, because all he wants is to be curled up with wilson but he figures this is as good as he’ll get. but then wilson (sensing that something is off) comes to check on House and finds him curled up in his nest,,,,, like would he comfort house & try to look after him?? if so would house let him?? or would he just pretend he never saw it (even though he reallyyyy wanted to intervene) so that it didn’t cross any boundaries?? what if house heard him come into the room & then leave?? what if house whined & asked him to stay in the smallest saddest voice?? what if house tried to push wilson away and wilson refused and said he’s not going anywhere????? !! ??

i’m in desperate need for some hurt comfort hilson omegaverse angst 😔🤙🏻

In the burrow of dirty laundry and throw blankets, the sound of gentle knocks hardly came through. Faintly, he heard his own name being called from the hall. House didn't move to answer but the whine that left his dry throat came out unbidden anyway.

Go away, he wanted to growl. Isn't someone's home supposed to be their sanctuary?

Even if that were true, Wilson always had a spare set of keys.

The traitorous lock giving way still managed to be deafening even when House went the extra mile to crush his head under the pillows he'd stowed away in this shitty little stress-nest. He pressed it harder against his ear the closer those Oxfords came, biting back another whine when Wilson beckoned again. The bedroom door opened wider, silent except for the one spot in the hinge where it creaked softly.

"I saw your bike, I know you're h-- oh."

As if it couldn't get any more mortifying. House couldn't see him, buried as he was, but he could practically feel the mild concern, already picturing the little furrow on thick brows. He didn't dignify him with an explanation, even a fake one. It had been a long day.

Footsteps came even closer and House curled up tighter, warm with shame.

"This is.... a bit much, don't you think?" An opening, the words light enough to allow for an out.

House, dehydrated and voice unused -- if one doesn't count involuntary whines, whimpers, and growling -- since he left the hospital who knows how many hours ago, could only croak back, "Get out, Wilson."

It was met with a sigh so heavy he nearly flinched. "There wasn't anything you could have done for that boy, House."

His eyes wrenched shut. That boy, his last patient. He hadn't even been old enough to drink yet. Brought in after collapsing at the park while watching, not even participating, with a basketball game among friends. Innocuous symptoms turned acute, false leads meant useless test, meant wasted time. What was initially brushed off as low blood sugar and heatstroke turned out to be an incomplete fetal rejection; a mark from the alpha girlfriend he cheated on combating the pregnancy from the affair itself leading to a malformed embryo literally killing him from inside out. If only he figured it out sooner that kid could have been getting dumped instead of chilling in the morgue.

So deep in his head he hadn't noticed Wilson leaving and coming back in until a cold water bottle was slipped in through the slit in the weave he had been using to breathe through. "Sit up so you don't drown." A bitchy suggestion from a friend, not a command from an alpha. Commendable when sometimes the voice was the only thing that could push through House's contrarian attitude.

"Why are you here? I'm not gonna kill myself because one patient died." Water after days of hospital coffee might as well have been ambrosia. "You've done your good deed, you're free to go now."

The bed dipped under Wilson's weight as he settled in close by without invading the nest itself. He spoke easily over House's warning growls. "No."

"No?"

"No. Glad to know you're not gonna off yourself, but I think you forget you're in a nest right now. You're not in heat," damn him for catching the excuse House had locked and loaded, "and you're sure as hell not pregnant, which can only mean you just feel shitty for your patient dying anyway. It's almost sweet how hard you take it sometimes."

House's growling took on a dangerous tone.

"My point is," the stupid, beautiful, sickeningly perfect alpha continued with placating gestures House could not see, "if you feel bad enough that you need to do all this, then I don't feel comfortable leaving you alone."

"Go away, Wilson." They were equally stubborn at times so House knew he was probably wasting his breath, but whatever.

He was met with the sounds of shoes slipping off socked feet and the rustle of an ugly tie being loosened. "Okay, well, what if I told you I'm staying to make myself feel better? To... satiate my savior complex or whatever."

Growls tapering into a sigh, the fight in him gave way. When life gives you lemons.... House snaked a hand out of the nest, palm up, whining in such a way he could only manage without the added stress of eyes on him. Begging.

With a snort, amused and surprised, Wilson folded his tie into House's hand. Nice, very nice, he'll be taking that, thank you very much, but not quite what he was asking for. Pianist fingers wrapped tightly around Wilson's wrist, tugging in demand. Wilson hesitated for barely a second before he cautiously let his arm be tugged into the ramshackle nest. The tie was extricated carefully from between them to be tucked under House's cheek, to be nuzzled into, a token of comfort for an omega soaked in the scent of an alpha.

Then, gently, with a touch so light it tickled, delicate fingers traced along Wilson's hand, from fingerprints to forearm where his sleeve was rolled up. He shivered when a thumb pressed softly into the gland on his wrist, then again at the sound of House's deep inhale and sigh. Bravely, Wilson started to purr, a wordless reassurance that what was happening was okay.

To his immense delight, House purred back. It was going to be okay.

Can I ask, who are your top favorite romantic couples (can be canon or non canon) of all time from any media? Why you love them? Thx :D

here i go with another grand list that i was very happy to write! i’m in love with these asks, really. i’ll mention all of them, but at first i was in doubt if i could include one that isn’t ‘canon’, but rather rpf. either way, i added bonus couples for good reasoning! let’s go.

1. wangxian (lan wangji x wei wuxian), from mo dao zu shi — they are THE moment, they are THE couple, they are THE goals. who ever could have imagined someone would come up and write a troublemaker who falls into demonic arts and gets reincarnated to fight together with a sucker-for-rules expressionless man and make it work? they fit into any au as well, this fandom rocks. my lovely cultivators!

2. kagehina (kageyama tobio x hinata shouyou), from haikyuu!! — i dont even play volleyball. i dont even like sports! why do i love this anime and this duo specifically so much? they are so passionate about their hobbies, the rivalry and frenemy relationship? the POTENTIAL. the STORY they have. the "someone better will come and find you" promise. sheer beauty. they are silly and fresh and cute and i dont think i'll ever get tired of it.

3. yizhan (wang yibo x xiao zhan), from the untamed cast rpf — i know all the problematics about writing real person fiction. i KNOW, okay?? but people, let me like them and support them in peace?? 😔 i have so much love for these men, and its overall hella fun following their life unfold, even if they are not working together anymore. nonetheless, they are my dose of serotonin when i need it.

4. daiharu (kambe daisuke x katou haru), from fugou keiji: balance unlimited — i will not scream for a seson 2 here. i will scream for more FICS of them here! there ain't enough! its not even about the 'sugar daddy' appeal, its more about the 'partners in (solving) crime' appeal. oh and also the 'i hate you you arrogant prick but i WILL do anything for you' part. everything and every detail of this show.... seriously though: gold.

5. hilson (gregory house x james wilson), from house m.d — oh, my sweet stupid and repressed doctors, i would do unspeakable things for you. wilson has been through every hard moment of house's life. you can name them, he's been there. through every ridiculous situation of his too. it is overwhelming, honestly. the ending couldn't have been more reasonable and fitting for them, in my opinion.

6. hannigram (hannibal lecter x will graham), from hannibal — this gif alone of them with scratches and smiling conspiratorily to each other sums up their entire dynamic. they're toxic and no one's doing it like them. like, yeah, no shit, who would even dare, right? murder husbands can do anything and eat the rude as much as they want, i will be sipping on my drink and watching intently. (man truly looked at this detective he framed for murder and said he would remember their moment together forever??? just dont throw him in jail then???)

7. shiguang (lu guang x cheng xiaoshi), from link click — these pretty boys traveling through time invented the concept of yearning, and i will not explain more to not give season 2 spoilers. i fell in love with them as soon as i saw the first shot of the anime. it doesnt help that they have the same dynamic as wangxian, too. cheng xiaoshi, my beloved, you would never do anything to harm anyone (not purposefully) and i (as well as lu guang) worship you 🙏

8. renga (hasegawa langa x kyan reki), from sk8: the infinity — let's be true tho, can they never do a sports anime without pulling up homosexuals?? not that im complaining at all. please continue, in fact. every couple in this story is valid (adam does not exist), and i love this spirited, young concept of redescovering the beauty of a hobbie. lovely, all of them, but most specially my langa and his admiration for reki. their dynamic has no complications, its just so sweet.

9. moshang (mobei jun x shang qinghua), from the scum villain self-saving system — i will not share a pic of moshang official art because i find shang qinghua appearence too much childlike and annoying, meanwhile i find him much more interesting in the book and fanarts. in any case, i love this couple more than the main couple simply because our airplane-bro can make everything so hilarious. there are fics of them out there which are peak entertainment (check this one!). mobei's tsundere attitude and shang qinghua's shamelessness are a great combo.

10. hualing (hua cheng x xie lian), from heaven official’s blessing — the longing is unbearable. hua cheng loves this man so much, for real. waiting 800 fucking years?? being his most devoted believer? can you believe the audacity?? my man, though he has low self-steem, does anything to protect his god. he doesnt care about any realm. he only cares for xie lian, his dear god. they are the cutest couple.

HI OH MY GOD im so so so obsessed with your House MD fics on ao3, I literally can’t put it into words. every day, I reload ao3 looking for House fics, specifically Hilson. YOU LITERALLY CAPTURE THEM PERFECTLY!!! I read Mr. Magic Hands when it first was posted, then have reread it over and over and over again. I just read A Delightful Foray Into Repressed Sadism and like—can we PLEASE talk about Wilson being a sadist???? And you’re SO right- House isn’t a sadist or a masochist, but so desperate to please others (mainly Wilson) and find out all of the secret details. There’s a part of the story that I wanted to highlight.

“You delight in provoking me because you know it’s going to get you this. You want my pain. You think you deserve it.”

THIS IS LITERALLY SO?!?!!?!? oh my god. Not only is hilson smut so <3, but it also is INCREDIBLE from Wilson bc he’s right—I think House does provoke Wilson because he wants to see how far he can go. He wants that “punishment” of sorts, but he also wants to pushpushpush until he can’t anymore. (Also, House is literally a such a bratty bottom and I’m so grateful to see someone finally agree.)

And it’s not just the smut!!! You capture them so well even in fluffy writing!!! House is absolutely the type to start with pet names ironically, but then realize that he’s sickeningly obsessed. I’ve always had the thought of him calling Wilson ‘doll’, but ‘honey’ works just as well. I’m obsessed with it. Because, well, OBVIOUSLY a it’s a joke guys…. and then House is saying it and thinking it when no one is there to see it as a joke. And the last line of Honey drives me utterly insane (in the best way!!!) because Wilson calling House ‘baby’ is EVERYTHING IVE EVER NEEDED PLEASE it’s just sosososo good and I’m so grateful for you and your writing. I disagree with anon. They both would have had to get GLAAD's blessing because neither of them are out to the public. GLAAD was also involved in the movie. It was Nick who said that he got GLAAD's approval, not Matthew (as far as I know). Nick is publicly straight and is presenting somewhat as straight and probably isn't CO anytime soon so there is a reason for him to mention getting GLAAD's approval. He's treading carefully with the gp to avoid getting backlash for playing queer roles while presenting as straight. There's no reason for TZP to mention anything since he has never talked about his sexuality and isn't presenting as straight. Matthew and GLAAD have talked about how important it is to cast queer actors in queer roles. I doubt that Matthew, an out gay man and gay activist, would have headhunted a straight man to play one of his main leads in a passion project. A closeted one, yes.

The question; You’ve been telling queer stories and thus casting queer characters your entire career. But the debate around auditioning and casting gay characters with consideration of actors’ sexuality took a different turn with the news around young Heartstopper actor Kit Connor. As someone of the community that is casting for LGBTQ roles, where do you fall in that conversation in terms of your own projects?

Sexuality is a long journey. It’s a lifelong journey because sexuality isn’t at the basis — sexuality is who you fancy, who you fall in love with, who you’re attracted to. But who you’re attracted to — the who — is the most important thing. It’s not a type. It’s a person. The line Alex has in the movie is, “I fell in love with a person who happens to be a man and that man happens to be a prince.”

To me, casting actors to play characters is so much about who they are as spirits; what their souls are like; what their psyches are composed of. I know so many people in my life who thought they knew who they were at 20 and then discovered at 30 that they were somebody else and that at 40 they were someone else still. Sexuality is not a fixed thing. I also know from experience in other projects that playing a specific role changes the way you think about who you are. You have to change in order to play a part. You have to change in order to pretend to be someone you’re not. The work we do, we’re not tax attorneys. The work actors do changes them. I’ve seen it happen so many times with roles that have nothing to do with sexuality or little to do with sexuality. An actor’s job is to transform themselves and to challenge what they believe about themselves. I can’t ask somebody to be something they’re not in order to get a job because I’m already asking them to be something they’re not, which is this character.

I could never tell anybody how to make their movie, and I could never presume to tell anybody how to cast their movie. By the same token, I don’t ever want to be told by anybody how I should make my stories or the criteria upon which I should hire the actors that I want to hire. It isn’t unimportant, but I find that it is oftentimes the least salient part of what makes an actor special. And the thing that makes most actors special — the actors that I want to work with — are those ineffable things. It’s Uma, and it’s what makes Uma, Uma. It’s what makes Rachel Hilson, Rachel Hilson. Rachel Hilson is the perfect example. We saw so many people for Nora, and then I watched Rachel, and I worked with her in her audition, and I was like, there you are. There’s that creature that is Nora Holleran. I have to apply that same metric to every character that I cast and every actor I work with.

So what i'm reading through the lines here is that Matthew knows he seemingly casted two straight actors in queer roles and he's trying to defend his decision (a controversial one) without outing anybody. He's trying to downplay sexuality as a factor for hiring actors in queer roles, but at the same time says that some actors find out that they are queer while playing queer roles (even if they are older). So he's kind of saying i know they are 'straight' but they might 'figure out' that they are queer and come out later.

False Positive

House MD fanfic, Greg House/James Wilson (hilson)

A scene that keeps playing in my head. Probably should be part of a larger fic, but I don't wanna. Dubious timeline, I've only seen up to half way of season 5. Fluff, getting together, usual House/Wilson prank stuff.

Summary: After an incident during lunch, House has been agitated, more so than normal. Enter Wilson, trying to make things right. Enjoy!

The sky is dark, and long past time for him to go home. And yet, House finds himself still in his office. Using the handle of his cane, he balances his red and white oversized tennis ball. He gives it a little toss and catches it on the handle, silently mulling over what had happened earlier.

A knock on his office door brings him out of his thought process. He looks up to see Wilson through the glass. His jaw tenses and he rolls his eyes, going back to playing catch.

The door opens, and Wilson lets himself in. "Hey, can we talk?"

"Aren't you worried about being in a room with me after dark? Apparently there's a rumor floating around that I'm gay." House doesn't look at Wilson when he talks. He focuses on his cane and ball. "Wonder what caused that."

Wilson shuts the door. "I said sorry."

"Never said you didn't."

"And you're still here sulking." Wilson sits down in the chair closest to the door. "It was one kiss. One kiss to avoid the attention of someone I... didn't want to talk to."

"Your boyish charms causing problems with women doesn't mean you get to kiss me in the middle of the cafeteria unprompted. You knocked my cane out of my hand, I could have fallen." He tosses the ball to Wilson.

Wilson catches it, spinning it in his hands a few times before tossing it back. "So if it was prompted, it would have been okay?"

House catches the ball on his cane and stills. He knows he needs to choose his next words carefully.

Even taking half a moment to think is too much, and Wilson pounces on it, "Wait really?"

House takes the ball and puts it back on his desk. "Help you trick someone? Yes, obviously! I just need a heads up so I know to hold onto my cane tighter."

"Oh ho, as if that was a problem!" Wilson gets to his feet. "I'm sure my bicep is bruised with how hard you grabbed onto me!" He walks closer to the desk, crossing his arms.

House gets up. "Of course I grabbed onto you, my cane was on the floor!"

House tries to walk to the door but Wilson side steps, now directly in front of House and staying there. House in turn takes half a step back.

Wilson, of course, notices it. "I have... a few theories as to why you're upset. I could use a differential."

House's jaw sets and he grips his cane tighter. With his free hand he gestures for Wilson to continue.

"Theory one, you're upset I did it to you. You like being in control, you would have wanted to have an excuse to kiss me, so I'm all surprised and then the rumors are about me being all lovesick."

"Good theory." House mumbles. "Doesn't cover everything."

"Okay, theory two, you're homophobic." Wilson steps closer to House.

House snorts. "You're an idiot." He fidgets with his cane.

"Right, of course." Wilson nods. "So theory three... you liked the kiss. You're upset because something you ended up finding meaningful, I've played off as a joke."

"And the others gossiping, does that contribute?"

"You've never cared what people thought before, I doubt you'd start caring now." He steps forward again, and this time House does step back. "What's your opinion? Got a favorite theory?"

"The first one sounds like me. I think it would have been funny to see your dumb face all shocked and..." House trails off as Wilson steps closer again.

"Right..." Wilson uncrosses his arms. "Well, we should run a test. Rule out a couple theories and find our diagnosis."

Wilson starts to lean in. He's close, closer, until House just has to barely lean in. Wilson's eyes close, and he's waiting. It's a trap, Wilson wants House to cave, to admit he cares, and- Oh fuck it.

House closes the gap, harder than he meant and way more vulnerable. It's worth it when House hears and feels a pleasant noise against his own mouth. Wilson's hands are on his hips. House drops his cane, resting his on Wilson's arms. He feels Wilson's mouth open just enough for House to let him suck on his bottom lip.

Finally House is the one to break the kiss. He's breathless, heart racing. He opens his eyes, still being held by Wilson, who still has his eyes closed.

House exhales through his nose before he pulls back a step. "There. You ran your test."

Wilson blinks and takes a breath. "Yeah, yeah I did."

"You got your diagnosis, you can go." House doesn't look at him now, moving to pick up his cane.

"Why would I do that?"

House pauses and faces him again. "Obviously you were testing if I liked you. Congrats, you got your answer. Go."

Wilson stares at House and puffs a laugh. "House I knew the answer before I walked in here. That test was, well," He scratches the back of his head. "It was for me."

That grabs House's attention immediately. "For you? And you... liked it?"

"Well, unless this test is a false positive." Wilson smiles. "We should... retest, to make sure?"

House stares and tilts his head. "Dr. Wilson, are you coming onto me? I may have to file a sexual harrassment lawsuit."

"You bastard." He laughs in reponse to House's empty threat. "Fine. No retesting, I'll go." He turns around and heads to the door.

"Wait," House blurts.

Wilson stops immediately. "Yes?"

House fidgets with his cane. He looks around the office then at Wilson. "Are you going to make me say it?"

"Yes. I am." Wilson nods. There's a gleam in his eye, and a sweet smile on his face that House has never had directed at him before.

House takes a breath, and as if it pains him, he mumbles, "I want you to stay. Please."

The silence is comfortable, and Wilson is relaxed as he walks back to House's side. "Since you asked so nicely, I'll stay."

House nods. "Thanks, Wilson."

"Anything for you House."

hi i saw your House posts, should i watch House??

I mean. If you like problematic medical dramas where everyone is an asshole to each other from the 2004-2012 era of television where Supernatural’s most iconic seasons sat so neatly in that same ‘homophobically gay’ category… personally I watched it at the time it was airing (!) as a young teenager and really Latched On so much (to House and Wilson) that my mother bought me a House M.D. watch for Christmas (had Hugh Laurie’s face on it? didn’t know how to explain to her that I was really only a religious fan of the show for House and Wilson’s Gay Vibes.) But having said that I haven’t brought myself to rewatch the show SINCE 2012 because despite being very overjoyed and vindicated in the tv tropes trenches that Hilson won the quite aggressive ship war (aggressive between the women x House ships, mostly House/Cameron and House/Cuddy iirc) it simply is not quite worth the amount of Medical Drama going on for me to rewatch it. TO ME. Though if my friends all continue down this rabbit hole never say never, maybe I’ll find a way to watch it as background noise. Maybe that’s a good way to watch it, as background noise.

Uh. All that to say, I would recommend watching 15 seasons of Supernatural before I recommended someone watch 8 seasons of House, on my own personal general enjoyability level, and I very much told my coworker last week ‘DO NOT WATCH THE TELEVISION SHOW SUPERNATURAL’ when he asked if he should.

The babysitting disaster

So this is another house fanfic it's huddy and a little of hilson at the end I hope you enjoy it

He wished now he didn't ask her but he was pressured into doing so, so one night he went to her door and asked her on a date she said yes but only if he will look after rachael whilst she worked he of course said yes but wasn't thrilled with the idea and blamed Wilson but if course Wilson thought it was an amazing idea

(cuddy) as I came in from the snow holding the baby carrier I saw house I walked to him, oh I actually thought you wasn't going to come in today and avoid this like the plague he looked me up and down and shook his head "of course I wasn't if this is what I have to do for you to come out with me I suppose I'll do it" I smiled handing the baby carrier to him. Now Rachel you are going to spend today with uncle house be good I said kissing her and walking off

(house) I looked down. At the baby who looked at me uhh OK let's get this over with I got to my office placing the baby onto the table everyone looked at me. It's a little deal I have to do so cuddy will go on a date with me

(forman) and she left you to look after a baby? As I said that the baby cried

(house) uh now look what you've done I said shhh … , shhh I picked up the baby rocking it back and forth everyone stared at me what? Forman shook his head

One hour later

(house) whilst the team was running tests I sat on my chair switching on cartoons for the baby who stared at the colours with amazement she then started to fuss. It's OK sweetheart I picked her up standing up and carrying her around the room making funny noises was the only way to not make her cry

(cuddy) I went to check on house and when I walked up to his office and was about to go in I stopped seeing Rachel laughing and house smiling. It melted my heart. I watched for a little longer how Rachel held his face as he held her up in the air and she smiled. I walked away going back to do paper work

One hour later

House was on clinic duty he took the baby in the rooms with him which was a big mistake because everytime he would ask questions the patient would pay more attention to the baby but he wasn't complaining it made him do less work

(reception) Dr house a note for You

(house) grate I placed the carrier down taking the note i then went to go and refill my vicodin I walked back and looked around…. Where did the baby go? I asked the woman shook her head. I rolled my eyes going back to my office, OK very funny where is she? I asked come on this isn't funny cuddy will fire me

(13)We don't know what you are talking about . I looked at him and he had no baby with him. Oh my god you lost the baby?

(house) no.. No, the baby is fine, look she's here, can't you see her? Well I missed place her and I Need you guys to help me find her

(forman) house we have a patient and why should we help?

(house) is the patient dying? "no we just put her on meds she is getting better" kutner said see and also if you don't. Help me and I get fired. You will be out of a job because we both know that you can't work anywhere else. He nodded, "OK guys let's find this baby" he said all of them stood up. Listen if any of you see cuddy just tell her that the baby is fine they nodded walking off.

Hour later

(13) she's not in the toilets she's not in the ER I had to lie to Cameron I said

(Taub) she's not outside

(forman) we should be telling cuddy if someone else took her a stranger we should at least call security

(house) I checked the corridors and that's when I bumped into cuddy ahhh!!! "house?" um hi

(house) I….i….. I Don't have her I said to cuddy who looked panicked

(house) I…. I…. I, I huff cuddy you see (gets cut off from baby fussing) I looked to my side seeing Wilson holding her I wave of relief went over me

(Wilson) house there you are I changed her for you I said handing her to cuddy I smiled

(house) that's what I meant when I said I didn't have her I ment I didn't have her at the moment

(cuddy) I smiled. That's fine I'm glad you looked after her today house why don't we make time you can pick me up? He nodded I walked off

Hours later

(house) I opened the door to Wilson's office walking in where did you find her? I asked he stopped writing looking up at me

(Wilson) one of my patients found her in the lobby she gave her to me

(house) why didn't you give her back? I asked

(Wilson) I don't know, I shrugged "oh my god!" what?

(house) you're jealous "what no!" you don't like the thought of me being with cuddy I smiled wow you took her didn't you? so I could look bad

(Wilson) no house I didn't take her I huff "everyone is right you totally like me" I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out "uh thank you" what?

(house) You could have said something to cuddy but you didn't so thank you I said walking to the door and I was about to shut it before I heard "you owe me a date to" he said I turn back. Do I? I asked with a smirk on my face I nodded OK you pick out where you wanna go and I'll take you.

(Wilson) you'll get lucky with me even if you don't with …. Cuddy I, said feeling myself blush

(house) lucky me, see you then I said walking out of his office

until the casting announcement that was made yesterday i was feeling pretty confident that she was zahra. however. if Sharon Clark is zahra, then I think sarah is june as im not sure who else she could be. i know a LOT of people don’t want her to be june as she’s an older actress but honestly i would rather her be june than no june at all. but i refuse to believe they’ve written her character out, she plays too big a role in alex and henry’s story. i also do not think sarah looks 40 at all and was surprised to find out her age when i looked it up, if she acts the part well i dont really care if shes 41. i watched 30 year olds play 17 year olds in glee and cory monteith as finn hudson remains one of my favorites to this day.

Ellie Bamber - Bea

she’s just gotta be i mean look at her. before casey confirmed rachel hilson was nora i thought maybe possibly rachel was june and ellie was nora but alas. i hope ellie knows how to play god save the queen on electric guitar.

Aneesh Sheth - Amy Chang

amy is canonically trans in the book and so is aneesh, which is what leads me to believe she’s amy. i’m also so sad i wasn’t familiar with her work sooner as based off everything she’s posted on instagram she seems like an absolutely incredible human being. super excited to see her in this movie no matter who she is.

Polo Morín - Rafael Luna

if that man is not luna i dunno who else he could be as he is pretty much exactly how i would picture luna looking. maybe cash???? but he seems way more like a luna.

Ahmed Elhaj - Pez Okanjo

didnt he make his instagram profile picture a pez dispenser shortly after the casting announcement?? like i swear that was a thing that happened. its not anymore but it definitely happened.

Akshay Khanna - Shaan Srivastava

akshay is an indian actor and shaan is canonically indian, so this seems like the logical conclusion to come to but i could be wrong. its happened before.

Sharon D Clark - Zahra Bankston

as i said earlier with sarah, if sarah isn’t zahra sharon is. and i think it would make more sense for sharon to be zahra bc isnt zahra canonically african american?? she also matches more closely to what i envisioned the character looking like. however i also know the world doesn’t revolve around me so sometimes it doesn’t matter what i think

Malcolm Atobrah - ??? Cash…maybe ???

similar to stephen fry, i have absolutely no idea who this man is playing. if ahmed wasn’t already cast i would be inclined to say pez. someone suggested maybe he’s spencer which i could see.

Thomas Flynn - Philip or Liam

i know the actor is british, which makes me inclined to say philip…but i also feel like he’s too good looking to be philip. or maybe alex described him as not-so-attractive out of bias 🤷‍♀️ he could always put on an american accent and be liam, or maybe they’ll tell us we’re all wrong and he’s WASPy hunter
