One reason I like Elementary's Sherlock is he is representation for the kind of fucked up posture my spine conditions give me.

Elementary is probably my favorite show to casually rewatch because it has the procedural format I find comforting, is very well written, and I care about the characters but have not (yet) hyperfixated on any so I don't feel added stress.

When you are alone and have a heart attack. What are you gonna do then?
Take a 2 minute break and read this:
Let's say it's 5:25 pm and you're driving home after an unusually hard day's work.
You are really tired and frustrated. All of a sudden your chest pains. They are starting to radiate in the arm and jaw. It feels like being stabbed in the chest and heart. You're only a few miles away from the nearest hospital or home.
Unfortunately you don't know if you can make it..
Maybe you've taken CPR training, but the person running the course hasn't told you how to help yourself.
How do you survive a heart attack when you're alone when it happens? A person who is feeling weak and whose heart is beating hard has only about 10 seconds before losing consciousness.
1. But you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very strongly! Deep breaths before every cough. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at the hospital or until your heart starts to beat normally.
2. Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heartbeat. Here's how cardiac arrest victims can make it to the hospital for the right treatment
3. Cardiologists say if someone gets this message and passes it on to 10 people, we can expect to save at least one life.
4. FOR WOMEN: You should know that women have additional and different symptoms. Rarely have crushing chest pain or pain in the arms. Often have indigestion and tightness across the back at the bra line plus sudden fatigue.

Saw a story of a rabbi talking to students and was reminded of when my old rabbi visited my Hebrew School class. Everyone else had very normal elementary schooler questions, such as "what do rabbis eat?"
However.
My father is an atheist, and had been talking to the rabbi for a while about his place within Judaism when he didn't believe in God. So he decided he would play a little prank on the rabbi. And I was the medium of said prank.
So he asked me casually after dinner, "If we're supposed to believe in miracles, why did God not use a miracle to stop the Holocaust? And if miracles aren't real and we all just have free will, how are we supposed to believe in Torah stories like Passover?" And 5th grader me thought this was a very good question (it is), and I was like "I'm going to ask the rabbi when he visits" and my dad was like "aha the next phase of the pla--I mean, good idea sweetie."
So the rabbi is listening to the normal elementary school questions "why do we have a whole holiday for trees?" "why is pork not good for us to eat?" etc and then....
"If we're supposed to believe in miracles, why did God not use a miracle to stop the Holocaust? And if miracles aren't real and we all just have free will, how are we supposed to believe in Torah stories like Passover?"
The rabbi took like a full minute to respond and was like "I---uh---it's an ongoing question in Judaism." Then he left pretty quickly (I never got an answer to my question bc I don't think there really is one).
My teacher told me I was thinking very deeply about Judaism, I was very proud, and I imagine my dad laughed his ass off.

One time my rabbi told us, “imagine you had a box with a little bit of god in it. What would you do with the box?”
So we were like ?? “We’d protect it and keep it nice and clean and polished” and he was like “your body’s that box. Stop eating markers”

Anyway my School for Good and Evil thoughts I will publish so far that do not require several paragraphs of explanation I think (though I certainly could provide if questioned)
Lady Lesso is the best I love her so much she is my favorite and was one of my first full-blown character hyperfixations so she holds a special place in my heart forever and ever she can do no wrong please ignore the atrocities
Clarissa Dovey, for at least 30 years, enforced a school policy that systematically destroyed all queer students who could present as cishet. This is never acknowledged in the same way Lady Lesso's Evil tendencies are and she never wrestles with it, and she stands by it until she dies. She can therefore kick rocks and does not deserve Lady Lesso.
Despite its many, many, many, many issues , this is a superior magic school for AUs because 1) way higher intrinsic stakes (no need to make up new scary monsters or evil overlords when the system is this scary and fucked up) than certain book series that shall not be named, and 2) it is not created by an evil transphobe who uses the proceeds from her work to fund hate movements. I hope to prove the valor of SGE AUs forthwith.
Someone needs to tell this author that fatphobia is bad actually.
This magic system makes no sense.
A pen is probably not God (though I don't remember the end of the sixth book so maybe it is idk) [and yes non SGE knowing followers: "is this pen literally a Christian-style omnipotent God" is a very serious philosophical mystery in the books, I really love this series sometimes]
This series is especially ideal for a House MD AU because of the sheer level of chaos it can reach in any given chapter. The "Is a pen God?" thing is in fact representative of the kind of nonsense that happens. Really the only two pieces of media I am very confident I could describe the chaos of and then be certain that someone who consumes the media based on that description would not be disappointed are SGE and House MD.

Returning to the School for Good and Evil books to do a full reread via audiobook. On book two. This series is just as strange and problematic as I remember (good to know some things never change) but now I have Many Thoughts and am debating whether I should post them. Two reasons to not are: whenever I go to post analysis it always ends up like twenty paragraphs long, and that most of it is critical, and I don't want to hate on something people like (though some of it is I think important notes about how it propagates fatphobia and ableism at the very least) (let's just say the movie's choice to show Sophie's "ugly side" by prominently enlarging her nose was not against the spirit of the books) (but hey foolish of me to think we could have a magic school book series without antisemitism)

Okay here goes nothing. I usually listen to the same albums or songs over and over again, and have a limited range of artists as a result (I don't usually go exploring for new things). Yes I am aware some of my artist selections are extremely angsty teen girl but 1) that's what I was when I was forming the foundation of my music taste that I have rarely strayed from since, and 2) there's nothing inherently wrong with that.

Hey. Hey you. The person aimlessly scrolling, stuck in an immobilized standoff with your brain
It's not your fault. You won't be stuck forever. I know you're trying. I know you hate it. It's ok.
And tell the Mean Voice in your head that it's not helping. It knows as well as you do that you would get up and Just Start the task if you could. You're not doing this on purpose.
Take a deep breath. Relax your jaw. I see you trying so hard to break out of it, but you can't force it. You'll get Unstuck eventually. All you can do in the interim is be kind to yourself.
