“Do you feel old?” You ask Jude, your voice hoarse from performing multiple songs back to back on the garish karaoke machine his mum had rented out for the occasion. There are now at least a dozen badly shot videos of you singing in Jude’s camera roll, including a rendition of ‘happy birthday’ sung by you and his brother where half his index finger is covering the lens.
“What’d you mean?” After hours of displaying nothing but rash energy, Jude finally feels himself getting sluggish while trying to endure the unbearable gnawing feeling of pins and needles rising up his legs; a big plush sofa sits untouched on the other side of the living room but you’ve both decided to drunkenly cram yourselves onto the armchair in a mess of tangled limbs.
“Just a silly question.” As you flutter your eyes shut, Jude tries to get a proper look at the glitter eyeshadow you had meticulously applied earlier that evening. In the wake of a large round of tequila shots, some of his friends had insisted on having their own ‘sparkle stuff’ and began queuing at the bathroom door like kids waiting to get their face painted like a tiger at the zoo. “Do you feel any older yet?”
“I’m not sure.” It’s the kind of question he’d once been asked in the primary school playground, with a blue birthday badge pinned proudly onto the fabric of his uniform. Back then it seemed very easy and obvious to answer plainly with a ‘no’, though now he’s finding himself stumped for a reply entirely. “Do you ever feel like that?”
“I think the last age I felt was seventeen.” You say definitively as if you've thought about it at great length before. Jude hadn’t known you at that age, but his home screen for almost a year was a photo your mum had shown him of you pulling a horrific face while blowing out the candles of your seventeenth birthday cake.
“That’s probably the same for me.” Embarrassingly, Jude had once referred to himself as a ‘seventeen-year-old’ during a frenzied post-match interview and then had to sheepishly correct himself by clarifying that he had just turned nineteen. Sometimes he feels like the years are slipping through his fingers like sand and there’s no sufficient way to stop them.
“Then before that it was twelve.” You continue as you do a little cat-like stretch with your free arm which Jude finds incredibly endearing along with everything else you do; he supposes it’s a very common side-effect when it comes to being in love.
“I found being twelve proper boring.”  It was something he remembers expressing even at that age. Just as if he had been dropped off somewhere by his childhood and was painstakingly waiting for his teenage years to finally pick him up and take him somewhere exciting. “It’s such an in-between age.”
“That’s true.” The sky in the open window behind you is that awkward shade of grey that appears just before sunrise, like a page when a printer begins to suddenly run out of ink.
“I wish we’d known each other as kids.” Jude feels as though he goes through life with your name humming inside his chest like a second heart and yet this sentence seems so intimate that he can’t even look at you as speaks. Instead, he takes extra care and attention towards staring at the ceiling and inspecting all the sparse helium balloons that have floated up towards it.
“So do I.” Your words come out as a dozy whisper and Jude finds himself smiling up at a star-shaped foil balloon. He’s not twelve or seventeen, but he’s just turned twenty and loves you so much that he doesn’t even care that both of his legs have gone completely numb from sitting with you on this unbearably uncomfortable armchair.

🎸 Eddie Munson - Fluff Alphabet 🎸
Tumblr media
FLUFF ALPHABET TEMPLATE CREATED BY @snk-warriors
Link to Fluff Alphabet Here
Summary: Some Eddie Munson fluff content no one asked for, but here you go.
A/N: There are probably errors I've made with pronouns, so I apologize in advance if there is a random "you" that shows up instead of a "they."
Also, if you liked this fluff alphabet I am also writing a Stranger Things and The Lost Boys (1987) crossover fic! LINKED HERE. There are currently two chapters out.
Pairing(s): Eddie Munson X GN!Reader
Characters: Eddie Munson, Reader
Link: Stranger Things
RATING: PG
⚠️ Warnings!: None.
______________________________________________________________
A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
✨ The kind of guy who would probably be obsessed with going to live music events with his S/O. Wants to show them what kind of music inspires him and spread that same inspiration.
✨ Knows some of the coolest forgotten/hidden locations and will take his partner on spontaneous trips to explore. Is a great storyteller and will make up some fun backstories to locations which they won't always know if they’re true or just him exaggerating details.
✨ If his partner is as into D&D as he is, then he’d love to have them join the sessions with the rest of the Hellfire Club (just don’t expect favouritism during games).
B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
✨ Eddie loves someone who is just as obsessively nerdy as he is. Even if they aren’t into exactly the same music or other interests as he is, he just finds their passion very infectious.
✨ People who can match his energy are also very attractive. Someone who can be just as excitable or can vibe with his high energy attitude.
C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
✨ Eddie is a great person to have around when his partner is going through something. He'll listen to them without interrupting and hold their hand.
✨ Will try to help his S/O feel better by giving them a healthy distraction with his funny stories about everyday life, or try to use humor in order to make them feel better.
✨ Knows just the right music to put on in order to relax his partner, and definitely has a mixed tape made for such an occasion.
D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?
✨ Eddie likes to live in the moment, and that moment is being with his partner. He wants to just take life as it comes and see where things lead with his S/O.
✨ Has dreams of taking his music on the road, taking his S/O along. If his partner is also musically inclined then he'll probably want to play as well as write music with them.
E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
✨ Isn't really into being dominant and will often just let his partner take the lead.
✨ Although, he does prefer to have an equal balance and will try to take the lead on some occasions. This can especially be the case if his S/O has a very dominant personality.
F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
✨ In arguments Eddie can be kind of childish, especially when he knows he's in the wrong. He will admit it, but will be a dick about it sometimes.
✨ Depending on how heated fights can get, Eddie will sometimes just walk out to cool off and his partner might not hear from him for a couple days until he's cooled down.
✨ If his S/O in the wrong he's generally pretty accepting of apologies if he believes they are genuine.
✨ If he's in the wrong he'll be pretty guilty and distraught about his behavior. He might go a bit over the top trying to show how sorry he is. This might be writing his S/O a song and performing for them at their window at night.
G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
✨ Eddie is a very grateful boi. He loves being with his partner and is happy for having any moment he can with them.
✨ He appreciates their support for him with all his creative and nerdy endeavours.
✨ The fact that his S/O doesn't judge him for his unorthodox behaviour and finds it just another charming part of who he is, makes Eddie feels very special.
H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?
✨ Generally pretty honest with his feelings and emotions. Keeps most things up front and center.
✨ However, he can tend to keep some of the harder stuff going on in his life from his S/O and tries to put on a front of humor or good nature to play off any stuff that may be going on behind the scenes.
✨ Might also try to keep things he thinks will hurt his partners feelings. Won't tell them honestly if something they make sucks for fear of upsetting them or hurting their feelings.
I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?
✨ If his S/O stays with him for long enough to get Eddie to open up about the difficult things going on in his life, he might find inspiration to be more constructive and open to those close to him.
✨ Might give Eddie a fresh perspective on those he thought were one-dimensional (i.e. jocks/basketball players).
J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
✨ Eddie can be a pretty jealous dude. Although he'll be loathe to admit it.
✨ He'll bottle it up and his feelings might come out in passive-agressive childishness or trying to get back at the person who is showing his S/O affection.
✨ Some of this behaviour may be directed at his partner, but if they bring up what the hell is going on, Eddie will finally admit begrudgingly his jealousy.
K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
✨ A pretty decent kisser, if not a bit sloppy.
✨ Very enthusiastic and passionate though, and willing to go at the pace his S/O feels comfortable with.
✨ Loves giving forehead kisses to his S/O.
L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?
✨ Eddie would tell his partner spontaneously in the heat of the moment.
✨ Wouldn't notice his admission until his S/O mentions his sudden accidental confession, and that's when he'd really get into how he feels for them.
M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?
✨ Eddie isn't really traditional or focused on the future when it comes to marriage.
✨ His S/O will most likely have to propose to him in order to get him interested in the idea of getting married.
✨ Doesn't really want a big wedding.
✨ Will suggest jokingly that they both do a Vegas style wedding, complete with Elvis impersonator.
N icknames - What do they call their s/o?
✨ Likes the idea of jokingly calling his partner "babe" in a mock surfer accent as a weird joke.
✨ Also might call his S/O a shortened version of their name if they have a longer name.
O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?
✨ A real big teddy bear when he's in love. Just wants to come up behind his S/O and give them hugs.
✨ Eddie also loves expressing his love through mixed tapes that he makes for his partner for when they're apart.
P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?
✨ Eddie is fine with PDA. Is happy to do anything his S/O is also comfortable with.
✨ Really likes being handsy with his partner though. From hugs to embraces, to picking them up and running around with them like they're a sack of potatoes.
Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
✨ Plans some really creative dates which always end up taking their S/O on a new adventure that they are not soon to forget.
R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?
✨ Moderately romantic, but not in a traditional way.
✨ Isn't going to wine and dine their S/O in a traditional night out, but will instead attempt to cook them a meal based around their favourite music (will probably burn the food) and take them on a urban exploring.
S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?
✨ Eddie will always be there S/O's cheerleader for whatever they want to do in life.
✨ As long as he gets to stick around to watch them succeed and your ambitions don't end up separating you forever, he's gonna be in your corner.
T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
✨ Eddie is all about spontaneity, so doing something new in order to spice up a dull routine is something which is going to be a regular theme in his relationship with his partner.
✨ He wants things to never be boring in a relationship. If your getting into to much of a routine then you aren't in a real relationship.
U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
✨ Very empathetic. Tries to understand and relate to his partner as much as possible, especially when they are under a lot of emotional pressure.
✨ Even when Eddie doesn't understand what his partner is going through, he tries his best to listen and be there.
✨ Might sometimes need to be told when is a good time to just listen instead of talking nonstop.
V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?
✨ If Eddie is really in love with his partner then they will mean as much to him as all his passions for the creative stuff he does combined.
✨ They are his rock and his inspiration for creativity. They're a part of his world and something he won't ever want replaced.
W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.
✨ Enjoys when his S/O braids his hair or gives him head massages.
✨ Will sit on the floor while they're on the couch and let them just play with his hair while he relaxes.
X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
✨ Big cuddle bug.
✨ Likes to pull his partner onto the couch and just hold them. Cuddle them until they insist they need to get up to get/do something.
Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?
✨ Is someone who yearns deeply. Will call every day they're away to ask about they're S/O's day and bug them about all the stuff they've got to do together when they get back.
✨ Can get annoying, but he means well. Just gets a little sad when they're not around to hang out.
Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?
✨ If Eddie's truly in love for his S/O there is nothing he won't do to try and be with his partner.
✨ The only thing he want do is try to change himself for his partner. Eddie won't compromise his individuality for anyone.
✨ Individuality is extremely important to him and being told to change who he is if he wants to stay with someone is a dealbreaker in his book.

Quickstep - Cause for Celebration - Strictly NRC Dancing
Author Notes: Maybe someday I'll get used to writing this character. I certainly hope so.... The quickstep in this fic was heavily inspired by the quickstep performed by Charlie and Tommy to "Do Your Thing" by Basement Jaxx on Week 5 of So You Think You Can Dance (UK) Series 1 (2010). Keeping with the rest of this AU, reader is female. I hope you enjoy!
If you would like to read more of this AU the fics can be found here: Strictly NRC Dancing AU Masterlist.
Type: Platonic or Crush/Female reader/Fluff/Dance AU
Word count: 958
Tumblr media
The quickstep was, as Sam described it, the terrifying love child of a slow foxtrot and the Charleston. That, added to the fact that it definitely lived up to its name in terms of speed, was why I was beyond relieved to hear that at least one of my partners was an experienced dancer.
Kalim may not be as used to ballroom dances, but he had done dancing in the past and, from what I’d seen, seemed pretty good at it. Additionally, NRC’s resident personification of sunshine matched the overall happy energy of the dance.
My primary concern actually lied with myself and my ability to keep my shoulders in alignment with Kalim’s. Getting out of balance would immediately result in a loss of points. While that wouldn’t bother me in my own performance with Crewel, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I caused Kalim or anyone else to fail their class.
At odds with my worries, Kalim had utter faith in me, “You’ll do great, Y/n! Just like you always do!”
He pressed my hands excitedly as he gripped them just before we headed out for our lively performance, “You’re a great dancer, and technicality isn’t as important as having fun!”
I smiled at his sunny nature that allowed him to be constantly optimistic and supportive, but shook my head, “Yeah, but if I mess up, you might end up failing the class and having to take another one so that you won’t get held back.”
He outright laughed at my words, ever unconcerned, “That doesn’t matter! I was planning on taking more classes anyway! Dancing is fun, and it isn’t easy to find a partner as good as you are! I bet you could even keep up with Jamil!”
Before he could continue lavishing me with praise, the music started. Blessedly cutting him off as he made a comically surprised expression before hurriedly turning to face the judges and starting to dance.
Starting separately, in an open position, had been an idea that I’d almost hugged Sam for. The idea of immediately stepping lively around the floor and keeping myself level with my lead partner was daunting.
But by the time Kalim and I entered closed hold, I’d relaxed, slowly but steadily matching the perky housewarden's joy. I was smiling before we’d ever even started trotting quickly around the floor, matching the notably quick tempo of the upbeat song.
But that was the great thing about Kalim, with as happy as he always was, it was almost impossible to not relax and simply enjoy yourself when you were with him. Which was why, despite his occasional struggles in class, he managed to stay on par with the other housewardens.
While he may not have been as awe-inspiringly powerful as his peers, he was very good at being there for his students and anyone else who needed him. He lived in the moment, and if you were with him, you had his full attention.
He was a rarity at NRC. A genuinely and almost painfully sweet individual whom you simply could not hate. Even Jamil, who had to put up with numerous inconveniences throughout his life caused by Kalim, could not fully bring himself to detest the person he viewed as his rival.
So how could I be anything but happy as I whirled around the floor in the elegant yet peppy dance?
It came as no surprise when Kalim passed the class with both flying colors and a standing ovation. Apparently, our performance had been incredibly enjoyable to watch, with even Trein describing it as a delight to see.
Kalim himself was elated, hugging me excitedly just as he had when we’d first received word that I would be his partner. I couldn’t help but laugh, ever charmed by the cheerful young man who’d already requested I come over for yet another meal in Scarabia that Jamil would no doubt be cooking.
“You were amazing, Y/n! You lit up the floor like the sun and were more than anyone could ever hope for in a dance partner!” As always, it was hard to look directly into those sparkling garnet-colored eyes as he showered me with compliments.
He chuckled slightly, rubbing at the back of his neck as he still smiled at me. "I almost feel bad; I want to keep dancing with you rather than letting others take their turn," he says, his grin a little smaller than before.
I couldn’t deny that I was slightly taken aback by the young man’s words. But I still smiled, half embarrassed by his shower of compliments and half touched that he’d enjoyed himself that much.
“Well, if you want, we can dance again later…. And if you’re taking more classes, we can dance then too.”
At my words, I watched as the young man brightened, nodding his head enthusiastically as he once again took my hands in his, “Yeah, we can dance tonight at the celebration and have Jamil join us! And I’ll work hard and do my best to get lucky again in later classes so you can be my partner again!”
I laughed slightly at the young man’s enthusiasm, even though I could practically already hear Jamil’s annoyed complaints about the laid-back nature of his friend. At odds with Scarabia’s vice-housewarden, I was beyond thankful for Kalim’s easygoing personality.
After all, it was largely thanks to that carefree disposition of his that our quickstep had been such a success and he’d passed. A relief to me and cause for celebration for him.

Sleepovers at your place are something that’s become a staple in Ricky’s life, and he doesn’t think he’s ever needed one more than tonight. It’s the one night the whole cast has off before opening night, so of course you’re going to spend it together. Tech week was one of the most intense things Ricky has ever experienced. It was one week straight spent at the El Rey, doing homework in between scenes, getting used to costumes, sets, lights, and props, and more importantly, getting used to all of it together. The first full run through felt surreal. If the last few rehearsals had been that exhausting and amazing and exciting, he can’t imagine how great opening night will be.
So what better way to decompress from a week straight of late nights and re-running the same numbers and scenes and working out the kinks, than being where he is right now. Ricky sits on your bed across from you while you sort through the snacks you’d picked up. There’s a comfortable, cozy energy between you, like there usually is. This is exactly what you both need, he thinks. A relaxing, fun night together before you gear up for show time. You’re trying to contain your excitement, but he can see it simmering, growing stronger in the back of your mind.
The door opens and your mom enters, holding the last few DVDs of shows you’ve been in.
“Took me a little while to find them, but here’s Matilda - regular, and the stripped down version - and Fun Home.” She smiles, beaming the way she does whenever she talks about you performing.
“Thanks mom,” you smile at how excited she and Ricky are about your shows. Ricky looks at the titles in her sharpie handwriting on the plastic cases, excitement fluttering through him at getting to see more of you performing. It might be corny to say, but you’re definitely his favorite actor.
“Which ones have you seen so far?” she asks, crossing her arms and leaning against the doorway, happy to have someone to brag about you with and talk about your shows. Ricky lists off all the musicals you’ve watched together over the last few days.
“...And we just finished Tuck Everlasting.”
“That one’s my favorite!” she gasps, beaming, and Ricky agrees. He can see why; you brought the role of Winnie Foster to life, and he can’t believe it had such a short run. She’s about to leave, when she remembers the paperwork she dropped off at city hall earlier.
“Oh, by the way,” she starts, “I heard back from Mitch in permits and zoning, and all the paperwork was expedited. Everything you need to perform at the El Rey has been approved, and you got a green light for opening night!” You and Ricky start yelling and freaking out - exactly what she expected - and you jump off your bed to squeeze her in a tight hug.
“Thank you!” you cheer, and Ricky echos.
“Of course!” she smiles.
“That’s amazing!” Ricky beams, “My dad said it might not be ready in time.”
“Well,” she continues, “I may have pulled a few strings to get it expedited…”
She barely gets the sentence out before you’re loudly thanking her again.
“Okay, okay,” she says, calming down your cheers and heading for the door with a smile “have fun you guys.”
She closes the door, and you’re alone again. He takes in a breath, embracing this moment, here in your room with you. He looks at your decorations, the snowglobe on your bookshelf, the posters on the wall and polaroids taped to your mirror. The jacket you had been wearing earlier is now tossed on the back of your desk chair, and your backpack is still where you’d dropped it earlier when you got home.
He’s overwhelmed with that big warm feeling in his chest he gets whenever he’s around you. He loves your room, loves sleepovers with you, loves… he chokes down the thought. He can feel the urge to spill his guts, to bear his soul, but he shoves it down. As easy as it would be to pull you close and kiss the breath out of your lungs and tell you everything he’s ever felt for you, he knows the timing isn’t right. He fights temptation, helping you unbag the rest of the snacks you got to distract himself from the unspoken words he’s barely holding back. You hand him the stack of DVDs and your fingers brush. His heart jumps at the contact.
"Here," you say, "pick one out." You smile with that easygoing energy that's become so familiar to him. Sleepovers have been a pretty regular occurrence for a while now, and they still fill him with a warm, bubbling excitement. He decides which one he wants to watch first, and you slide the disc into your laptop.
“Oh wow,” he starts laughing at the grainy camera quality, “Matilda caught in 4k.”
“Shut up,” you laugh, nudging him playfully, “this was from, like, 10 years ago.”
At first it was hard to look past the sketchy camera quality and low volume of the bootlegs - or slime tutorials as you jokingly called them - but now he’s learned to see past it. He latches on quickly to your singing, feeling himself get sucked into the story right away. He’s seen another version of you performing as Matilda, but this one is the infamous stripped down one. Even though he knows the reasons behind the drastic set change, the critics were right - it does add something to the way the story is told. He realizes that even though they’ve kind of been flying by the seat of their pants to make it to opening night, it will still turn out okay.
After watching Matilda, you practice your stage makeup, and have Ricky help you pick out the perfect shade of Sharpay pink nail polish. You had put on High School Musical - it was practically obligatory - and you made it about 15 minutes into the sequel before you were in Ricky’s lap. His lips are all over you, pressing into yours, your neck, your cheek. He squeezes your waist, arms snaking around to pull you closer to him. He bites your lip playfully, getting you to gasp a little, and pushes his tongue into your mouth. Your hands are on his face, in his hair, and he can’t get enough of your touch. He lets out a soft moan into your mouth, angling his head to deepen the kiss.
Your phone buzzes as he pulls away, kissing down your neck. He runs his tongue over your skin, biting, and making you giggle. You get so flustered when he kisses you like this, and he absolutely loves watching you get more worked up for him. You glance down, seeing the notification from the pizza place you ordered from on your phone.
“Ricky,” you start, and he hums in response, biting your neck again, “Ricky, the-”
You’re cut off by a knock at the door. He pulls away reluctantly, and you take in each other’s disheveled states.
“Pizza guy.” you finish, getting off his lap to go down stairs. He sighs, staring at the doorway you just disappeared through. He’s still full of that frenetic energy he gets when you touch him. You look so sweet when you’re blushing and giggling for him, he wants to make you even more flustered like that. His phone buzzes with a text from Nini. He’s still getting used to seeing her contact without the hearts that always used to be around it.
Tumblr media
Before he can finish typing out a response, you reenter the room holding up pizza and breadsticks triumphantly. He smiles and sets his phone face down. He wants to be here with you, eating pizza and watching sitcoms, trying not to get too nervous and excited about how close opening night is. The only drama he wants to think about right now is the onstage kind.
Nina sits on her bed, homework forgotten as she rants to Kourtney over facetime. Ricky left her on read. Again. He never used to do that, not until he started hanging around you. Kourtney’s been listening to her talk about you to death for at least an hour, and she’s out of ways to respond.
“I am so done talking about this.” Nini laughs, shaking her head.
“Good, cause-”
“It’s just, like,” she continues, and Kourtney thinks she should have known where that was going. It was at least the third time Nini declared she was done with the topic at hand. Nini continues, “do you think hanging out a couple times gives you the right to be so possessive over someone?”
In the time they’ve been facetiming she’s cleaned her room, picked out her clothes for tomorrow, and finished her homework. She’s half way through her skincare routine, and secretly hoping this will wrap up soon so she can get some rest for tomorrow.
“Like, last summer Ricky went on dates with a few girls - not just hanging out - and by the start of school he only wanted to be with me. So, really she’s just making herself look desperate. It’s just sad that he’s going to dump her soon and come back to me like he always does, and she’ll have no idea it’s coming. Like, that’s going to be really embarrassing for her, right?” the faux sympathy in her voice turns into a chuckle.
Kourtney’s brow furrows. In spite of how sick she is of hearing about this, she can’t shake the feeling that you and Ricky are obviously closer than two people who have just hung out a few times. She’s seen the way you look at each other, the way you talk to each other. People who feel platonically about each other don’t do that.
“Uh, Neen, what exactly did she say?” she tries to sound casual so Nini doesn’t get suspicious, but she’s so wrapped up in her train of thought, she doesn’t notice the I have a hunch about something look Kourtney always gets when she suspects something is up.
“She was like, uh,” she begins in an exaggerated impression of you, “we like, totally hooked up a couple times, but we haven’t made anything official, but that still means he only likes me. Also you dumped him, so… like, you have no right to be in his life anymore, and he basically hates you now.”
Kourtney squints. Through Nini’s very biased recount of the exchange you had, if any of that was verbatim, if you really did tell her you hooked up with Ricky… what kind of hooking up did you mean? Nini seems to think it’s the casual meeting up kind - let’s all hook up at denny’s after the show -  but Kourtney isn’t so sure. It’s none of her business, it’s really none of her business. Plus, pointing this out to Nini would just make her even more obsessed and freaked out than she is. She needs to move on from Ricky, and the last thing Kourtney wants to do is make that harder for her. She and Ricky aren’t together, and she’s certainly not going to be the one to enable any prying or backsliding, intentional or not. Instead, she redirects.
“Uh… I don’t think she can cut you out of his life for him.”
“Right?!” Nini exclaims, glad someone agrees with her. “Like, we’ve known each other since kindergarten. I’ve known him longer than anyone. You can’t get that close to someone that fast.” She sighs. “Also… there’s something about her that’s been bothering me…” Kourtney scoffs.
“What about her doesn’t bother you?”
“No, no,” Nini laughs, thinking back, “it was something Gina said…” it's been itching in the back of her mind for a while, and she can't ignore it any longer. She has to finally figure this out. She shakes her head, knowing she shouldn't keep Kourtney up any longer. "It's probably nothing. Whatever, I'll see you tomorrow night, Kourt."
"Okay. Night, Nini."
Finally, she hangs up. She should go to sleep. She has a big day tomorrow - it's opening night for god's sake - she should go to bed. Instead she opens her laptop, typing 'broadway matilda basement flood' into the search bar. She clicks on one article, then another. Eventually she finds a picture of three girls in matching Matilda costumes and is hit hard by nostalgia. She was obsessed with Matilda when she was a kid, always begging her moms to take her to New York so she can audition and be a Matilda on Broadway, be part of the friend group of other girls her age acting on Broadway together. The girl on the right was always her favorite, and she used to watch the backstage videos she was in for broadway.com vlogs all the time. She completely forgot about her Matilda phase, how obsessed she was with those girls.
She looks at the caption of the photo, caught off guard by her favorite's name. It’s the same as yours. But that can't be you, right? The last names are different. And her parents are divorced. She remembers when you mentioned it at rehearsal once. She opens another tab, continuing to search for an answer. Hours pass and she's deep into the Google rabbit hole. Hours pass, and she confirms it’s you. You played Matilda on frigging Broadway. After extensive research, she pieces together that you and your mom both had you last names changed to her maiden name, presumably after the divorce, and it doesn't look like you've acted professionally since. She opens the same tabs on her phone to look at later. She shuts her laptop and flops back into her pillows. She stares at the ceiling in disbelief that you've somehow managed to keep a secret this massive from everyone.
After eating a majority of the pizza and breadsticks, drinking several cups of tea, and watching some more Netflix, you and Ricky are finally ready for bed and curl up under the covers with each other. You're lying up next to his chest, your body heat minglinf together, and he doesn't think he's ever felt more at peace. Your hand is warm through his shirt, and he keeps pressing kisses across your face just to hear your sweet giggle. You smile at him, blinking sleepily, and when he looks into your eyes he feels it. He's home. He gazes at your face, enamored, never wanting to look away. You look so pretty like this, curled up next to him and half asleep. He's learned to tell when he's going to sleep really well and it's always on nights like this. He never knew how badly he needed to feel his breath sync up with yours, feel your hearts beating in time. He can't imagine being more content than he is right here, with you. Even the air in your room smells sweet to him, just because you're here so often.
He thinks back, running through the whole night again, returning again and again to being right here with you. Every moment with you is amazing. You have this way of transforming the mundane into something special. He’s still in disbelief that he’s the one who gets to lay next to you at the end of the day, he's the one you have whispered conversations with when you're both stupid tired. He gets to be the one to make you giggle and smile over nothing. He remembers a tweet he saw a while ago that said 'You're in her dms, I'm dancing in the kitchen with her while the bread we made bakes. We're not the same.' You might not be in the kitchen right now, but he really understands the sentiment right now. You're cuddled into his chest, melting into his touch, blushing and hiding your face when he looks at you too long like that. It’s him, not some other guy. He doesn't think other guys could be as devoted to you as he is, they couldn't love you the way he can, the way you deserve to be loved.
He's really glad you're with him and not with some fuckboy who would just want you for your body and break your heart. The idea that anyone could even think about doing that to you, even some hypothetical fuckboy, makes him sick. You're so sweet, so easy to love. He doesn't know how everyone you've met hasn't fallen in love with you, how every guy isn't throwing themselves at you. A twinge of jealousy passes through him at the thought. He brushes the thought aside, reminding himself that you're here with him. As if proving his point, you set aside your favorites squishmallow to cuddle him closer and his heart feels like it's going to burst. Girls don't do that if they don't really… really like someone, right?
You settle against him and let out a big sigh. He's had enough sleepovers with you to know that means you're about to be out like a light. He is too, and he fights off his heavy eyelids long enough to get one more good look at you before they close. He smiles as he starts to drift off. This is his favorite part, getting to fall asleep next to you do he can wake up next to you, just like he wants to forever. He can't imagine a morning where he doesn't get to see you, doesn't get to hold you in his arms, and he doesn't want to. He brushes that aside, and focuses instead on how nice you smell, how comforting your breath is on his neck. You're so warm, you make him feel so warm, and he can't get enough of your body heat and his becoming one under the mass of blankets. He doesn't know what tomorrow will hold, but he's so excited to experience it, to have his very first opening night with you.

i'm back w more au stuff!! this time, centering around a pop duo. to tell you the truth, i kind of built this au around them.
anyway, if you have any questions about the au or anything.. i'm always happy to answer. <3 now... hcs under the cut!
♡ trish is the only daughter of model donatella una and fashion photographer aceto doppio. doppio signs his work as 'solido naso' so he can keep his private life separate from his professional life. diavolo is trish's uncle, who often spoils her when he sees her.
♡ growing up, trish had a rather normal life. donatella and doppio wanted to make sure that trish didn't have to deal with invasive questions and paparazzi hounding her, but she's always been interested in the glitz and glamour of her parents' work. instead of modeling, she wanted to write music and eventually become a popstar. she started with a small youtube channel doing covers, and eventually started doing her own original songs.
♡ lucy is the daughter of steven steel, who is a famous director. she's homeschooled so the paparazzi or any fans can't bother her while she's trying to learn, and she's rather well-versed in navigating the industry thanks to her attending many social events with steven, his former protegé funny valentine, and funny's wife scarlet.
♡ when lucy was ten, she decided to become an actress because she enjoyed cameoing in steven's movies growing up. she did commercials and small tv roles until steven eventually put her in his most recent film, a silent way, when she was 13. it was her breakout role. she appeared on a few tv shows after and people still talk about her even now since they're interested in what she'll do next. honestly, she was considering going into music.
♡ shortly before lucy's fifteenth birthday, she met trish through a public performance that trish was putting on. lucy was impressed. when she went home that night, she found trish's youtube channel. with this, her mind was made up. she'd take a break from acting, and focus her energy on singing.
♡ for her birthday present, she had only one wish; to record music, but only if she could record it with trish.
♡ steven gets into contact with trish and her parents, and they schedule a meeting with each other shortly after. trish isn't totally onboard with the idea initially because she always thought of herself as a solo act. after thinking on it for about a day or two, she comes back and agrees to perform alongside lucy.
♡ they call their act diva riot!! their main sound is glam pop. trish writes a vast majority of their songs, but lucy pitches in with her own ideas as well. their debut album is called roll out the red carpet.
♡ to help them gain some publicity, diavolo invites them to take some photos at passione and offers to put them in the latest issue. they accept, of course. the rest is history
okay!! time for some more miscellaneous thoughts about them together and apart!
♡ lucy helps trish navigate her first few celebrity events, especially since trish isn't the type to suck up to other people. plus, lucy's well aware of who to steer clear of lest their reputations get completely tanked or they get dragged into extremely awkward situations.
♡ in turn, trish helps lucy improve her singing voice. there's a noticeable improvement as they record more albums together, and lucy's grateful for the advice.
♡ one day as a show of friendship, lucy dyes a strip of her hair pink to match trish. in response, trish begins to wear yellow star-themed accessories as a reference to lucy.
♡ lucy idolizes the joestars to an extent, so she gravitates towards star-themed memorabilia. she cameoed in a movie starring johnny once as a kid, and they developed a close friendship with each other since she always hung around set. she hasn't been able to see much of him after his accident.
♡ even before she became famous, trish often hung around passione's studio for fun when her parents were busy. she's friends with bucciarati and the models that picked him to be their agent (abbacchio, mista, narancia, and fugo), but she's still getting used to giorno's presence because he's new.
♡ eventually, lucy begins to hang around passione as well. trish invited her, and she sticks around for someone else as well. who that is a secret between herself and that person.
♡ one time for a concert, trish convinced lucy to perform with actual animals. diavolo secretly paid for it. trish came in on a lioness, while lucy had a snake draped across her shoulders. (britney spears reference? you already know.)
♡ donatello and aceto eventually come to see lucy as a part of the family, while steven does the same for trish. lucy and trish call each other the sisters they never had.
if i had to describe diva riot's overall aesthetic, i'd say it's very bratz inspired. i literally looked up lines i could use for inspo 😭 anyway!! when they're performing, trish's main color is pink while lucy's is orange.

[Maroon vs Rin Singing ReMatch!]
Tumblr media
Ladies and gentlemen and all the amazing gigachads inbetween!
We welcome you all to today's live-stage performance-- a song-out showdown between two competitors from the singing with the mushrooms singing competition!
These two competitors had a surprisingly interestingly-- dare I say disappointingly late competition and one of them was intent to rectify this with a rematch! While former competition is already over, this one is ready to start whenever the contestants are, not earlier, not later!
Speaking of the contestants, let me introduce you all to probably a new face and very likely a familiar face-- or familiar faces if you've seen their performance before!
Tumblr media
The first contestant -- You know her, we know her, her country knows her-- the world knows her! She's a very young but also very energetic and one full of life, the dare-I-say world famous younger sister of the Kagamine duo, the orange loving Blondette of the VOCALOID Team who was second place in the semifinals of the losers bracket of the Mushroom Singing Contest and no wonder she has gotten that far with ease for our first contestant is non other than the youngest girl of the VOCALOID 02 era: Kagamine Rin!
Tumblr media
Our second contestant -- A young man with a reputation of chaos yet those who know him say otherwise, he's a man who's fighting spirit shines brighter than the flames he makes, he may not be known or liked in Lawain City, but there's no doubt he's known by the people of Lilium for he is their young prince! He was the one who made 2 landslide victories in the mushroom singing competitions leaving his opponents in the dust all while it was his first performance with his very surprising vocal range! Say hello to the Prism Dragon of our nation, the controversial Dragon of Destruction, the prince of Lilium Nanada Maroon!
Now those who have seen the Mushroom singing competition already know that they're a fiery duo full of energy, but this isn't a match where they can sing as duos-- no, they're going one on one, mono-a-mono to see who can beat one another!
Speaking about one of the rules, let's get right into the--
- Rules!
The rules are simple: - Each contestant gets one song and in this match only their singing voice matters! - Like I've mentioned before: NO DUETS! This is a round where it's a one on one so don't think twice on adding another member to sing. - Even if you're capable of it, no special powers are allowed! Weird to specify that in a singing match but no magic, aura-manipulation or any other fancy things are allowed to spice up the performance, this is a singing competition y'know! - The voting will begin once both contestants have sung their song of choice, no earlier! Heck, if you're seeing this as a post, this post will not even have a poll until the very bottom! - The poll last at LEAST till break of dawn, but likely longer-- so at least around 8 to 10 hours but probably longer so if you're busy you have at least that much time to vote!
Now, with that out of the way,
SHOUT and SING YOUR HEARTS OUT-
-TIME TO IMRPOVIZE AND VOCALIZE!
Songs:
Kagamine Rin:

Neru - Lost One's Weeping
Nanada Maroon:

REQUEST. : 🧁-5’8” cis girl, blonde hair, blue eyes, from the middle of nowhere. I’m a three sport athlete(track, Basketball, Volleyball), but also love reading and puzzles. I’m not much of a morning person, animals, am mostly social with those I know well, when I have to energy to give. I love dirt roads, supporting teammates, friends, other contact sports(football, soccer), and blaring music, but also rain and mellow nights at home. I riden horses(western style), roped and worked cattle all my life. I tend to lean toward chaotic, but organization P.S- even though I’ve only just found your account, I love your writing, and you seem like an amazing person ⏤ @cychurro
that’s so sweet of you to say! thank you for enjoying my writing and for thinking highly of me, i’ll continue to do my best and honour your words well ٩( ^ᴗ^ )۶
and from what you’ve described to me, i ship you with James Potter! for the sake of this scenario, you’re in gryffindor ;)
i. since you’re quite athletic, you naturally make it onto the quidditch team but since you’re not an early morning person, you get to quidditch practice just in time (nearly almost late) and grumpy, which rubs james the wrong way, especially because he’s all about team spirit and putting your best foot forward for the time. seeing your behaviour was not, in his eyes, you putting your best foot forward for the team. nevertheless, he couldn’t deny that you were a good player, although, this made his tongue charper with you than with any other individual so the two of you quickly grew a rivalry on the pitch. this rivalry, somewhat, benefitted the team however, as you’d both compete with each other to score the most goals without abdicating the team’s overall performance in matches, especially official ones.
ii. eventually, james became captain and that was the start of torture for you. you had competed against him for the position but ultimately, lost. james made for a good captain, however, it just didn’t help that he was extra hard on you for your usual slowness in the morning. you’ve heard some of your teammates vouch for your dislike for early mornings but james is strict on the schedule, eager to play all the matches well and win the end of year cup. he knows and can see your potential so it was infuriating to him that you would let such potential go to waste. after some time, however, he slowly began admitting to himself that he had grown fond of your grumpy morning attitude and sleepy appearance, it’s quite an adorable look on you…
iii. when its the weekend, you’ve become quite famous for blasting music in your dorm room for most parts of the day when you didn’t have the energy to interact with other people but did have the energy to listen to all of your favourite songs on repeat. sometimes, james, as head boy, has had to ask you to turn down the music but, for the most part, many of the gryffindor students enjoyed your music in the background and have grown a liking to most of your songs.
iv. on one particular official match against ravenclaw, you managed to get a nasty hit by a bludger and needed to be tended in the hospital wing. james wanted to take you there himself but you pushed him to carry the team to victory and have someone else sub in for you. it took some convincing but james finally relented, “I promise we’ll win this for you, okay?” james promised with determined eyes and a fixed stare on you. you’d be lying if you said it didn’t make your heart flutter. “i’ll be cheering for you captain,” you say good naturedly before being escorted away. needless to say, gryffindor won against ravenclaw by a landslide that day and you couldn’t be prouder. when the gryffindor after party celebration was being held in the common room, james was nowhere to be found; he was at your bedside the entire time.
v. gradually, you and james started talking outside of quidditch and you introduce him to all the muggle sports you enjoy and love. you explain the rules to him and smile at the fascination the swells in his eyes. so it was only natural that you invite james over for the summer to indulge in all your favourite sports, whether it’s by playing it together or watching games at a stadium. You’ve even worked him through a day’s work on the farm, herding cattle and getting used to the horses so that he could go horse riding with you. As a quidditch player, he was a natural and he quickly grew to love horse riding on the dirt paths around the farm land with you. it was a very eventful summer. one that started with lots of learning, was filled with adventures and fond memories before ending in a sweet, spontaneous kiss under the cool evening summer sun, setting behind the horizon.
vi. back in school again, you and james continue the routine of back and forth in the early morning chill of quidditch practice but there has been a noticeable shift in the tone of your comebacks. the team thought you two were acting odd but the usual light bickering escalated into a kiss that wasn’t expected and their suspicions were immediately confirmed. “It’s about time!” one teammate calls out as the others whistle with amused brows. “Sod off before I give you extra laps!” james shouts back, earning a belly of laughter before it was back on the pitch for drills and practising manoeuvres.
vii. honourable mention, i also, lowkey ship you with remus lupin. it’s your shared love for reading and puzzles that bring you together first before remus grows a love for the outdoors and several sports under your influence. you also introduce him to horse-back riding and he adores it. he adores it even more when you two aren’t playfully racing around and merely taking the horses for a walk in the wilderness with a picnic packed away and books for you two to read together on a picnic in the forest where there’s a sunny spot.

Louis Tomlinson
Fabio Magnocavallo·
·September 1, 2022
It’s all happening in the world of Louis Tomlinson. The British singer is in the final stages of his first ever global tour. Seven legs, five continents, and over 80 concerts later, he will wrap things up in Milan, Italy, in just a matter of days. Fear not. As one chapter is about to close, another one has just opened.
Tomlinson’s new song in over two years, “Bigger Than Me,” arrives today as the lead single from his upcoming sophomore album, Faith In The Future, which is slated for a November 11 release. The album aims to not only push the boundaries of Tomlinson’s sound but also to provide a collection of material that has been crafted for more live shows to come.
To discuss the whirlwind of the last two years, I meet Tomlinson on a sunny yet gray day in London on a balcony at his management office. Welcomed by a warm handshake, he is all geared up for a full day of promotion. “Do you mind if I smoke?” he asks. “Go for it!” I reply. Tomlinson picks up his red lighter, which matches the design of his Stone Island t-shirt, and is all business.
Let’s go back to 2020—a memorable time for everyone in many ways. For Tomlinson, he put out Walls, his long-awaited debut album that had been two years in the making. Released on January 31, 2020, he began touring six weeks later in Europe before the inconvenience of the pandemic put everything on pause for longer than expected. While Tomlinson was only initially able to perform the first two shows, it was a short-lived experience he remains grateful to have had. “I’m thankful for having those two shows; otherwise, lockdown would have been a lot of wondering, a lot of light thinking of what might be,” he tells EUPHORIA. “And those two shows, although there were smaller venues, they were incredible. So, at least I was going into lockdown really excited about what was to come as opposed to wondering and crossing my fingers for what I hoped they would be.”
Lockdown allowed Tomlinson to take time out of his busy schedule and enjoy life. Having been used to being on the go constantly, he admits it was a time when he didn’t have to persistently worry about the next thing. “It was the first time in my career, One Direction included, where I didn’t really feel the pressure to be working as quickly as I possibly could,” Tomlinson explains. “I wasn’t creative, especially in the first half of lockdown, but it meant that when I was ready to be creative, there wasn’t as much of a clusterfuck going on in my head. I felt like I just had the time to breathe and actually think about things properly as opposed to finishing this and starting the next thing and just rolling off.”
It didn’t take long until Tomlinson did start to get creative, though. Six months before continuing his tour, the writing process began for the second album. “I didn’t do any Zoom sessions. I know some people had some success through that,” he says. “I think some songwriters, they’re very clinical. I think it does suit a certain kind of writer.” Like many artists, Tomlinson missed being in the room with other creatives and bouncing off others’ energy. For this reason, he resisted for as long as possible so everyone could experience the magic together under one roof.
Tomlinson made most of Faith In The Future in London while completing the rest in LA. Even though the album’s name gives off major pandemic vibes, it has been stuck with him for some time, way before the Coronavirus and another record was even in the picture. “I’ve always had it in the back of my mind that it’s a title that, for some reason, spoke to me. COVID and the lockdown happened, and I thought it was kind of weird and that it felt appropriate to have this hopeful sentiment to go out there,” he says. Having the title before writing any songs helped Tomlinson create an optimistic narrative which he believes his debut album lacked. “The thing that frustrates me a little bit with Walls, even though I’m incredibly proud of it, there is a weight to it emotionally, especially with songs like ‘Two Of Us,’ etc. And that’s not really what I’m about; you know what I mean? So this was a moment with the second record to kind of break away from that and try and create these hopeful, happy, positive stories,” he continues.
The album’s lead single, “Bigger Than Me,” not only kicks off an exciting new era but also plays a big part in shaping this album. He shared that the track became his first moment of excitement in the studio. Described as a coming-of-age song, it helped boost Tomlinson’s confidence and gave him the freedom to explore further. “It’s definitely the biggest sounding song I’ve got on the record, definitely the song that stands out as being one that should be a single,” he says. “I wasn’t certain I was going to have one of these songs on this record that has a big chorus. It shows off my vocals, so I’m really proud of what we got out of it.”
After having several conversations with different songwriters, Tomlinson mentions he wants to be “more careful” and doesn’t want to be “too specific” about what the songs are about this time around. “I think part of music is people making their own opinions,” he insists. What he does share, however, is that the concept for “Bigger Than Me” came about after overanalyzing during the lockdown. “There have been a lot of times in my career where I’ve gone on stage, and 50% of the show, I’m in my own head. I’m thinking about ABC and questioning, ‘Is this right?’ And from doing even those two shows, and I do this festival called Away From Home, you get a sense of what the shows mean for people who come watch it. It’s so much more about what’s going on in my head and if I think I’ve done great or shit or whatever it is,” Tomlinson explains.
He continues, “Everything I do musically, the shows, etc., is a joint effort. I suppose it’s just trying to capture that idea, which is also why I don’t want to shed too much light on the concepts because it’s bigger than what I thought. It’s whatever everyone else wants it to be.”
Faith In The Future showcases Tomlinson’s range like never before. Opening with the pounding drums of “The Greatest,” the song was penned with the intention of being the opener for his next tour. “That was specifically written as a tour opener, not necessarily an album opener at the time,” he says. “Musically, it’s interesting. There’s probably not another song like that on the record. It starts the album with a statement of intent, which I think is important. There’s a certain ambitious level to that.”
The album immediately switches it up and dives straight into “Written All Over Your Face,” an infectious indie floor-filler that we both agree is reminiscent of the first two Arctic Monkeys albums. “I’m a big fan of that sound, big fan of that energy,” Tomlinson says. “I went into the room with these people I’ve done a few sessions with, and I said, let’s try and take this as punk as I can get away with. I suppose that’s where the Arctic Monkeys reference comes from; there are obviously punk elements within what they do.” At just two and a half minutes long, Tomlinson confesses it wasn’t a song he was trying too hard with. The aim was to create a “punchy energy,” declaring this was another song he could imagine performing live.
Still keeping future tours and live performances in mind, Tomlinson continues to compare his previous album to Faith In The Future. If there’s anything Tomlinson believes Walls fell short of sonically, it’s the number of bangers that featured on it, which is why this new record will be jam-packed with even more of them. “There’s ‘Kill My Mind,’ which I close the set with currently. That’s probably the closest I had, but I didn’t have another one like that,” Tomlinson explains. “My band did a great job on this first tour by beefing everything out and making things feel more lively. While on the record, a lot of them sound like mid-tempo. I’d say this new album maybe makes up a third or even half of that energy. That, for me, makes me proud.”
With that, one particular track that Tomlinson is most pleased with is “Silver Tongues,” a joyful and wholesome moment that honors the little intricacies of his relationship. Once completed, he boldly stated it was the first time Tomlinson had written a song that he could imagine being sung by an artist that he is really fond of. “That song was a great part of the writing process,” he says. “On this record, I tried to write with less professional songwriters and more artists, and ‘Silver Tongues’ is a good example of that. What you get with that is a different level of care and love for what you’re doing, instead of making it about money and trying to get the single.” Another reason Tomlinson credits “Silver Tongues” for being so special is its authenticity. “It’s not trying to be anything that it’s not. We were not trying to write a single, and there’s just a certain level of energy to it,” Tomlinson adds.
Faith In The Future is bursting with exciting moments. However, what might surprise fans the most is the fact that Tomlinson is delving back into the dance genre sooner than expected on “All This Time” and “She Is Beauty We Are World Class.” His first-ever single in 2016 without One Direction, “Just Hold On,” saw him team up with hit producer Steve Aoki. A global smash in its own right, Tomlinson had chosen not to revisit that sound until now. “On my first record, I was very particular about the sounds I wanted to use, and I wasn’t necessarily worried about perception, but I wanted everything to be as authentic, bandy, and guitar-driven as possible,” Tomlinson says. “I’ve still done that on this record, but I tried not to shy away from some of the more interesting modern sounds. And it was actually the DMA’s record, their last album they did with Stuart Price, which has quite a lot of dance elements to it, but they did it in a really authentic way, and it doesn’t feel like a play for radio or anything like that. It just gave me real food for thought for the album. There were lots of sounds that I would have alienated on the first record. I took a bit of that inspiration into those two songs.”
After taking on a journey through various sonics, Tomlinson closes Faith In The Future with the melodic and most tender song, “That’s The Way Love Goes.” After playing around with the tracklisting, Tomlinson claims that he “couldn’t get away from that idea,” adding that “you’ve got two options to end the album: you either end with a slap round the face or a little ballad moment.” Detailing a non-sexual love between two best friends, Tomlinson is confident that this is a song fans are going to adore. “I think it’s an interesting story, an interesting visual going through the song. With the way the album is structured, it kind of fits nicely to finish on that message. I wouldn’t have been able to do that on the first album because there weren’t enough peak moments of energy,” he says.
At age 30, Tomlinson has lived the dream and continues to do so. As a member of one of the biggest boy bands of all time, he has won countless awards, performed on the world’s most prestigious stages, sold millions of records, and achieved No. 1 hits left, right, and center. With that being said, how does Tomlinson measure his success today as a solo artist? “It’s a difficult question,” he replies. “It’s very easy to be over-analytical in my job about a million different things. If I leave the stage after a show and I feel like 90% of the people in there have had a good night, then I’ve done a fucking good job,” he continues.
When Tomlinson first came onto the scene, musicians didn’t have to think about trying to secure their songs on Spotify playlists or coming up with TikTok challenges. With those two factors now at the forefront of the music industry, Tomlinson has maintained an ongoing triumph without depending on them, which is extremely commendable and rare. Instead, he credits his loyal fanbase for all his recent victories over the past few years. “That’s where I feel incredibly blessed for the fanbase that I’ve got because in terms of that side of my job and how much support I’ve had, there’s not been a ton of it, to be fair. The reason I’ve sold my tour, it’s not thanks to Spotify, Apple Music, radio stations, or a record label. It’s just down to my fans. It’s as simple as that,” Tomlinson says.
While others may immediately think of Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and Harry Styles as this year’s top touring artists, it must be said that Tomlinson has been considered an underdog and deserves all the mentions. His “Louis Tomlinson World Tour” allowed the Doncaster-born star to perform to over 500,000 fans in eight months. When he could not do in-person performances due to the pandemic, he arranged Live From London, a live-streamed concert, and broke a Guinness World Record for the biggest selling live stream from a male solo artist, shifting over 160,000 tickets. As far as Walls is concerned, it also racked up accolades, reaching the spot in four countries from two different continents, gathering over 500 million streams, and becoming the first artist in nine years on his label to reach the Top 10 in the US.
“This tour has done so much for me, man. So much for my confidence, so much for my understanding of what it is I need to do with my job,” he says. “I’ve waited for this moment for a long time, and I didn’t know what to expect. You know, when I’m comparing my touring experience, I’m comparing it to the pinnacle in pop, the One Direction days. After 90,000 capacity stadium shows, it was a really hard thing to work out what the shows were going to look like.”
Tomlinson continues, “I know every artist says this, but there’s such a powerful connection between me and my fans. That’s what I felt collectively throughout these shows. There is this kind of co-dependency, and I really thrive off them. When I’m having a good show, I can feel their energy, and their levels go up as well. It’s taught me a lot this tour, and it’s probably been the best year of my life, professionally.”
Now Tomlinson’s career is back in full swing, and he’s ready to keep things moving. Fans will be more than happy to know that another tour is fairly imminent. After a crazy year back on the road, he is eager to get back out there and perform all the new material that he has been imagining will go down a treat with audiences. “I want to keep the momentum going. My solo career since the band has been a bit stop-start, some for personal reasons, some for professional reasons. Now, I’m finally feeling comfortable where I am. I just want to keep it rolling,” he says. That’s not all, however. Tomlinson also wants to start working on album No. 3 sooner than expected. “Ideally, I’d like to try and write the next record before I go on tour next year. I want to do something similar to what I’ve done this past year,” he adds.
With Faith In The Future, Tomlinson has already made it clear that he wants listeners to take the album into their own hands and come up with their own thoughts. But, if there was to be one thing he wants them to take away from the songs, it’s that they get a sense of hope. “As long as they get a feeling for that, and maybe if there are times when they need to hear those messages, I hope it makes them feel good,” he says. “I think one thing that makes me proud and that I hope will also make them proud is that I’ve just followed my heart loads more on this record. Through my experience with my fans, when I’m doing what I love, that’s when I really grab their attention, and that shit’s infectious, man. We feed off each other like that.”
Tomlinson concludes, “I hope that they listen to the record and think, ‘This is what Louis should be doing.’”

Hello! I'd like to ask for a music match please :)
My pronouns are they/him (he/him preferred atm), I'd like to get matched for Gabriel (I headcanon him as trans, and that he's insecure about his face a little bit so he wears the helmet! I think it's lovely)
I... Don't entirely know where to start. On the positive, I'm a big fan of music, I love art, I looooove machines. I really wish I was one; the kind of vibes I would give would be immaculate.
I'm big into like, either the most sopping wet pathetic men imaginable, or women who could probably like, crush my skull or something. Don't know why.
On the negative, I've got DID (two alters but they almost never show up), really bad memory loss & migraines, and a complete lack of understanding of myself. Each new day is like learning I'm a different person all over again, and I kind of mold to the people around me, but this is getting better with help.
Additionally, I'm very insecure and I've got a bit of a savior complex. I love dark themes in media, but need a happy ending or I'll cry. I need a good amount of validation or I'll totally fall apart (once again, also getting better with help!!!), but I'm very open & communicative about my needs and willing to negotiate things with people.
I love music with themes of rebellion and attitude, and I love a good story about sticking it to the man and going your own way. In media, I've always loved seeing stories of tragic heroes falling at their own hands but being swept up by someone stronger and sturdier than them, even if it's just for the moment. I've seen myself in the weak one, and I've always wanted to be the strong one.
I've always wanted to save someone from the same situation I was in when I was young, and that's carried onto my adult life. I think this carries into my taste of music and partners; I can't handle anything too happy, or it feels fake. There are very few people who I comfortable with being overly positive towards me.
My life is almost defined by labels. Without them, I would feel lost. I wouldn't be able to just point to a section of the DSM-V and go "oh, right there, that's me."
Silly note, I am mad autistic and start crazy stimming and squealing whenever I hear either a honking bicycle horn, or the KLING of a coin as it's being flipped. I also like to gnaw on things, I'm the guard dog of my friends, and I constantly flip between insanely high-energy and insanely low-energy.
Gen really sorry if this is wonky or too much at all, I'm not good with these... Tysm :))) Also, I'm an INFP-T and an Aries, if either of those help!!!

1. Remember My Name - Mitski a song about feeling valued for what you give others and feelings of inadequacy both past and present. i feel both you and Gabriel would connect over this. for him, his entire creation and purpose was centred around his service to heaven, the council and ultimately the Father. losing this along with his trust in the council and the belief in his creator would undoubtably leave him with questions about his own worth now he was unwilling/unable to fulfill his duties. for what is the fate of an angel scorned by Heaven? "just how many stars will i need to hang around me to finally call it heaven?"
2. Til We Run Out Of Air - Hatchie a song for the saviour complex in you. ultimately about hope after dark times, this is sure to prompt a happy daydream/scenario or two. this song also has parts alluding to self worth issues, which as previously mentioned could be applicable to either of you. true connection and compassion untied to his performance of his duties or role in Heaven is something Gabriel is truly unfamiliar with, but now he has you. you're here for the ups and downs, not keen to give up on him so quickly. "to spend your whole life as your enemy such a crime"
3. Lovesong - The Cure seeing Gabriel struggle with emotions/feelings you similarly have delt with, you recognise and empathise with him in a way that was never provided for him before. i feel this song could apply both ways, your love and care give him the motivation to continue to find his own purpose and worth, and for you he would provide the same compassion in return. as you mentioned appreciating validation the repeated admissions of love could once again go both ways, depending on how you feel at the it might help to imagine this is him talking to you, or you to him. "whenever i'm alone with you you make me feel like i am whole again"

i apologise for the lack of overtly punk/rebellious music, however finding songs that were about a relationship in some way that fit that theme and weren't about unhealthy dynamics was very difficult. that being said i hope you like what i came up with, and if you want an additional 3 songs please feel free to send in another request. also apologies again if i sound clinical/uncaring when i speak about insecurity or similar negative self ideals/perceptions, i'm being direct about what i see patterns/connections with. thank you for reading

did you think there’s a chance i would let it pass when you let me know i can send more 🤤
then it’s ✨coming back for another kiss✨ (yoona and junho made me do this)
OKAY BESTIE BUCKLE UP because this definitely isn't a drabble 🤣
But my mind went = kdrama = karaoke = kvariety shows always giving the good singers a low score during karaoke themed games and this is what was born ✨
And since we're celebrating the comeback of the century today, I just knew I had to keep the setting musically inclined or else!! 😤
But tbvh, I have like a million different scenarios of Mimi, Yamato and a karaoke booth so this is just the tip of the iceberg, it sure would be nice to ✨visualise✨ them singing together once in a while.
Happy Reading ~
💙~~💚
Two pairs of eyes were sharply fixed on a tiny screen that hung on the wall in front of them. Currently, the display was swirling digits around to the noise of a drumroll and both the occupants of the dimly lit karaoke room stood with bated breath, waiting for the score to appear. Mimi clutched onto the mic in her hand as she followed the numbers rolling around on the screen diligently. She had already scored a 100 on her song performance so there was no need for her to worry so much unless her opponent too ended up getting the same score, which meant another intense face off and she couldn’t be sure if she’d manage to hit all the high notes once again. She sneaked a glance at Yamato from the corner of her eye. He too was holding onto his mic tightly, as if that itself would make him score full points. His brow was furrowed into a deep frown and his jaw was set sternly like this was a matter of life and death for him. Mimi had always known that he was very proud of his singing skills, which is why she hesitated to go up against him at first.
The two had run into each other at a record shop after school, coincidentally buying the same album. Yamato had raised a surprised eyebrow at seeing Mimi’s interest in this particular band but he didn’t make any condescending comments about it. While they waited in the payment line, Mimi decided to question him about his favourite songs by the band, and of course, that’s where the coincidence ended. All the songs that Mimi enjoyed were the ones Yamato disliked and vice versa so it didn’t take too long for their conversation to become heated. Eventually, it moved on from the topic of the band to their musical tastes in general and since they happened to cross a karaoke place on their way to the train station, Yamato suggested that they test out who’s better at singing by having a little match over their favourite songs by the band from before.
Mimi knew that for her singing was a hobby, not a skill she was trained in so it wouldn’t be wise for her to go up against Yamato, who had a few years of experience singing live. But he had looked so smug with that lopsided smile that he rarely showed, as if he’d won the contest even before it had begun. There was no other choice for Mimi but to accept his challenge, she was going to make him realise that her taste in music was just as good and just because he’d been in a band for a few years, he was no expert in the field of music.
From the minute they’d entered the karaoke room, the tension in the air had made her skin tingle but she managed to get a hold of her nerves as soon as she started to sing. She poured every bit of her energy into the song, she channelled the frustration she’d felt through the evening every time she couldn’t get the last word in during their argument because Yamato always had a dry remark up his sleeve, every time he managed to prove her statement wrong by quickly looking up the correct fact or just how annoyed he made her by following her around despite not agreeing to a single word she’d said all evening.
What did he even want from her, was the question that plagued her mind, if he thought her way of picking a good song was so wrong, then why didn’t he just leave her alone and go home? Mimi took every emotion from those bottled up questions and poured it into her song, which resulted in her scoring full points. She’d jumped up and down with excitement as Yamato sat there stunned, his mouth hanging open while he stared at the result on the screen. But the bewilderment only lasted a minute and he quickly pulled himself together, starting his own song right away.
When she heard him sing, the burst of joy she’d felt from scoring a 100 faded pretty quickly. But still, Mimi found it very hard to feel down while listening to Yamato’s voice, the smooth yet deep tone had a gravitational pull of its own that sucked her attention away from everything else and for the few minutes that his performance dominated the room, she even forgot all about their little contest.
But finally, he finished his song and very ambitiously turned to face the screen, awaiting his score. At that moment, Mimi too was able to break out of her trance and stand up from her seat to come to terms with whatever the final result of this competition would be. The karaoke machine did its little gig where it made all the numbers roll around the screen like a roulette and after a full minute of the useless dramatics, Yamato's score was displayed.
97.
Mimi blinked twice in confusion, then she rubbed her eyes and stared at the display again.
97.
“I won!” She screamed at the top of her lungs and began to jump again, this time almost high enough for her head to hit the ceiling.
Yamato stood still, his face a picture of utter disbelief as his eyes continued to look at the number displayed on the screen.
“I won! You lost! I’m a way better singer than you!” Mimi announced loudly and happily to a non-existent audience. The last bit must have hurt Yamato’s pride way more than the score itself because he quickly broke out of the stupor and glared daggers at her.
“This doesn’t prove you’re a better singer than me.”
“Of course it does, I got a full score-”
“Karaoke is very different from actual, live singing.” Yamato threw the mic he was holding onto the couch behind him, folding his arms across his chest defensively, “If we entered a real singing contest, I’m sure I’ll fare much better than you.”
“Sounds like something a loser would say,” Mimi said, bending down to put the mic in her hand on the table between them gently as any dignified winner would.
“I’m not a loser-”
“You scored less than me, the parameters for winning this contest that you decided on was a higher score, ergo, you are a loser.” It felt so satisfying to finally watch Yamato struggle to respond to her that Mimi let this little moment of giddiness take control over her completely. “And since the only reason you could’ve lost is because you didn’t sing as well as I did, that makes me a better singer than you.”
She watched as he attempted to think of a perfect response, he opened and closed his mouth a few times before grumbling incoherently to himself. The sight of him being at a loss for words should’ve been enough for Mimi, but somehow she kept craving more. It was only fair, she justified it to herself, Yamato had spent the entire evening getting on her nerves by being pompous, the least he could do to pay her back was show some humility for a change.
“Anyway since I am now the better singer out of the two of us-”
“You are not a better singer than me-”
“Denial isn’t a good thing, Yamato san, just admit that you lost to me and I am now a better singer than you.”
“Will you stop saying that?”
His loud voice did break Mimi’s confidence slightly but the sight of him looking absolutely livid because she’d won fair and square only made her feel more contented by the feat she had pulled off and she decided, that she wouldn’t stop talking about it till Yamato’s ears fell off from being tired of hearing it. So Mimi met his glare with a determined look of her own, her lips curving slyly upwards into a smirk as she folded her arms and challenged him with a raised eyebrow.
“Make me.”
The words sounded so simple to her then, she had no idea that they would lead to something so intense.
At first, Yamato's mood didn’t change but then she watched as his face softened and eyes widened, as if an idea had popped up in his head. He squared his shoulders and met her smug posture with a conceited smile of his own, “Try and say that one more time. I dare you.”
“I’m a way better sing-”
Mimi didn’t get any time to register what happened next.
Before she could finish her sentence, Yamato leaned across the table and cupped her chin in one hand, for a second he met her eyes, a mysterious glint flashed across his blue eyes telling her that this game, she had lost.
He pressed his lips against hers and Mimi felt her whole body freeze at his touch.
Her mind went blank as he gently caressed her lips with his own. It surprised her that despite the tension between them, he was still soft with his touch, slowly and delicately melting away the shock that had frozen her. Her toes curled inside her shoes when his hand moved above her chin and his palm pressed against her cheek, filling her with a kind of warmth that she had never felt before. At her side, Mimi felt her hands twitch, she wanted to reach forward with them and grab something, anything that would make sure that she would never lose the fuzzy feeling that had ignited in her chest, but after brushing his tongue against her lips once, Yamato suddenly pulled himself away.
The silence that settled over them was more deafening than Mimi’s performance from earlier.
She stood with her hands half raised, lips partially open and eyes still fluttered closed, ready to allow him to delve deeper into her. But as soon as the warmth disappeared from around her, Mimi’s eyes opened with a start. She looked at Yamato, who had now taken a step back, and saw that his face was as red as her skin felt, a hand had shot up to cover his mouth, which seemed like a feeble attempt to keep himself from kissing her again. She frowned as she noticed the confused look on his face like he couldn’t believe he’d just done something like that, he looked guilty and conflicted about what he should do next.
“I’m sorry Mimi, that was way out of line-”
But Mimi wasn’t listening to a word he’d said.
She could feel her skin ache for the warmth that Yamato had carried with his touch, she could feel her heart beat faster every moment she spent apart from him, she could feel the walls of the room closing in on her, the air wrapping itself around her body, begging her to go to him or else she’d be swallowed by the emptiness that surrounded her.
So she stepped onto the table as Yamato stared at her in bewilderment, he opened his mouth to say something again but Mimi had already made up her mind. She bent down and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt with both hands, bringing his face towards her so she could crash her lips against his.
Yamato didn’t push her away however, even if he had considered this a mistake a minute ago, as soon as Mimi’s lips touched his, he snaked an arm around her waist and lifted her off the table with ease, setting her down on the floor so he could bring her closer into him. She let go of his collar as soon as he pushed his tongue into her mouth through her lips, instead her hands raked through his silky hair, grabbing onto a few locks as Yamato tasted every inch of her mouth. While Mimi still felt her body heat up with delight the longer they stayed pressed up against one another, this kiss was nothing like the one they had shared earlier, it was filled with the need to know just how far they could take things before common sense took over.
And that was just another battle which neither Mimi nor Yamato was willing to lose.

So I saw this tweet:
https://x.com/logankenny1/status/1716391512307576945?s=46&t=jR-79KdUQuYpe1B06LLy9g
And it refers to this tweet:
https://x.com/vesperlynds/status/1716278778911989818?s=46&t=jR-79KdUQuYpe1B06LLy9g
And i guess I just wanted to know what your thoughts are? Personally idk if this is true because I’ve never noticed something like this while watching any movie. But thinking back to the Wolf of Wallstreet specifically, I don’t think it’s true for that movie just because I specifically think he elevated Jonah Hills performance. But I’ve also never seen him outside of a Scorsese movie so that could just be Scorsese knowing how to direct him.
It's funny because I hadn't seen these tweets but I had an inkling of what they were going to be about before I read them and I have to say that I have never gotten the impression that he elevates other people's performances the only exception being -- and it's funny because it's the only time I've ever thought he had chemistry with a scene partner -- Kate Winslet. I can see the collaboration there and while Winslet got all the praise for Revolutionary Road, I thought his performance overtook hers despite the fact that I also thought they were collaborative.
But I also don't think he's ungenerous either. It's more like I've gotten the impression that other people have to meet him with the same energy or bigger energy, more gravitas, and not kind of shrink in the Leo-ness of his acting and then they can do something together. So for instance for Wolf of Wall Street, they knew Margot was right for the part when in the audition, she's not cowed by Leo, she gets in his face, and I think she slapped him which wasn't scripted and she thought she blew it but they were like no this is what we need. For Jonah, I don't think he elevated his performance but I remember the first time I watched it and not knowing how to feel about the movie was because I thought they were both acting in different movies, I thought Leo was acting like he was in a drama and Jonah was acting like he was in a comedy. When I watched it again I realized that it worked that way and that Jordan is actually a pretty funny character ("I'm a master diver, do you hear me? A MASTER DIVER) but Leo's humour, to me, got cowed by Jonah's natural ability to be funny and it felt a bit like competing forces but Wolf of Wall Street is actually a perfectly calculated chaotic mess of energies that work.
For The Departed, he's with heavy hitters, he's with Jack Nicholson, he's with Martin Sheen and then Mark Wahlberg has his own big energy so we're not sucked into the Leo-ness of his acting. I wonder if that would've been true if he had more screen time with Matt Damon who I've said is kind of just a guy.
The Aviator, I mean he goes toe to toe with Cate Blanchett, but it's Cate Blanchett, she has gravitas, she has poise, he has to meet her energy.
I'm also very aware that so far I'm only naming Scorsese movies, lmao.
But when you have something like Gatsby, I mean granted it's Gatsby, but do you even remember who else is in the movie or is it just Leo and a Lana Del Rey song?
And that also requires thinking about the roles he chooses because it's more than just being the lead. You have something like Inception, JGL, Elliot Page, Cillian, they all hold their own but they're all characters who are sort taking point from Leo's so their energies are going to be a bit different, Tom Hardy -- I really feel like this is the only Tom Hardy role I actually enjoy -- matches his energy but he's pretty much the only one.
Catch Me If You Can, his character is supposed to be larger than life, he's a teenager giving the FBI a run for their money so he has to exude a certain energy but when I think of Catch Me if You Can, I almost forget Tom Hanks is also in it because Leo and his performance take up so much space and I don't even necessarily mean that his performance is so good it blows everyone else out of the water, it's like what that first tweet said, there's no space or air around him, he takes that all up and I don't think Tom's energy matched that even if he's supposed to be a more understated character.
I don't know if any of that makes sense, lmao.

Jin’s Sing-and-Talk Livestream Side:Alone
Summary of this year’s livestream from Jin’s official YouTube channel. Original video here. Part 2 here. Done on commission!
The livestream starts with Jin checking his microphone and tuning his guitar. He plays a little bit while asking the listeners if the sound is okay. Then he proceeds to thank everyone who is listening and says he would like to perform a number of songs out of the music he has been making until now. He comments that even though it’s the tenth anniversary of his career, he doesn’t want to make the livestream too stiff because of that, and asks everyone to give their opinions about his music on Twitter and the like. He adds that although he decided to make this a two-day stream, which feels like a big deal, he’s actually streaming from his home.
Jin goes on to explain that the theme of this livestream is loneliness, since the first day’s livestream is titled “side:Alone”. Therefore, he wanted to play songs that evoke loneliness. When he starts playing, he stutters out that he’s getting nervous. He points out that the difference between his normal voice and singing voice is too big, and he hasn’t tuned up his voice enough, so he might break into falsetto. As he asks the listeners to wait a little bit, they urge him to hurry and begin, so he decides to just go for it and starts off with “Lost Time Memory”.
After he’s done, he says that he really likes the verse that goes, “don’t say such sad things” in particular. They’re not difficult words at all, but he’s glad to have put them in the lyrics. He then plays “Additional Memory”. Once it’s over, he says that he made the song with the image of “being alone despite having people around you”. He had once heard that when people pass away, they see their life flash before their eyes and an instant feels like an eternity, which had him thinking, “I see”, and that’s how he came up with the lyrics of it.
Before he plays the next song, “Inner Arts”, he says that he had made it long ago and would be happy if any of the listeners know it or like it. After playing, he says he created this song as a sort of cheer from within. He had actually messed up a part of it and explains that it was because he tried to read the comments while playing. He didn’t want to let them go unread and wishes he could do both things at the same time, but admits that he loses focus otherwise.
He then plays “Kiero”, one of his new songs, and says that if there was anyone who hadn’t heard of it yet, he would like them to listen. He says the lyrics are quite dark, but they match the theme “alone”. He quite likes the last part of the lyrics (“shut up, shut up, disappear, disappear”). He keeps coughing and clearing his throat every now and then but guarantees that he’s not sick or anything.
After a little bit of trivia about guitar playing and comments about how hard living is, Jin moves on to “101”, from “Sangatsu no Phantasia”. He’s proud of the lyrics and clarifies that “101” (originally read in English, “one-oh-one”) meant 1-0-1 in Japanese.
This was followed by “Kuusou Forest”. This one, too, is almost 10 years old. He laments ruining such a beautiful song by clearing his throat so much while playing, but can’t play it by himself without doing so because the notes are so high. He notes that all his songs are high and hard to sing, but he can play more or less the way he deems as ideal with an acoustic guitar. He calls it a “high-calorie song”, because it takes a lot of energy to play it.
He asks the listeners to allow himself to ready his heart for the next song, “Imaginary Reload”. Again, a song he really likes. He says he had “Kuusou Forest” in mind when making it. “Kuusou Forest” is a very uplifting song, so both might sound different, but he made them so that they would be like two sides of the same coin. He adds that perhaps quite a lot of his songs are like that.
The song that follows suit is a more cheerful one: “Yuukei Yesterday”. He makes a commentary on the “mitsuketa-ta-ta-ra taiyou wo niramitsukete” part of the lyrics, saying that it’s supposed to be “mitsuketa taiyou wo niramitsukete” and not “mitsuketara taiyou wo niramitsukete”. As to why he made it so easy to mistake, in his own words, he says he simply likes the catchy “ta-ta-ta-ra”.
He then announces that the next song is a bit loud, but goes for it without reserve. After he’s done with “Yobanashi Deceive” (which – surprise, surprise – is yet another song he likes), he says that he likes the funky sound of it, despite it being so hard to play. While preparing his guitar for more, he says that his stamina has come back.
The next song is “Lost Day Hour”, which is rather laidback, in contrast. Jin said he made it while thinking about the people who are treading their paths in life all by themselves. He comments about the simplicity of it and that he thinks it’s a very nice song. He has put the things he thinks about into it.
As the livestream reaches its last 20 minutes, Jin says he has an announcement to make, which might be a little bit late, but he had already posted said announcement to Twitter as well. After “Alone”, he wanted to use “Circle” as the next theme. The word “circle” bears the image of people gathering up, as opposed to “alone”, and of connecting bonds (because, although the theme’s title is “Circle in English, the word “circle” in Japanese has the same pronunciation as the words “bond”, “fate” and “tidings”).
Jin resumes playing with the ending song of LISTENERS, “Love Song”, saying that the one who sings originally is the heroine’s voice actress, Takahashi Rie, but he would be singing a cover of it. He says that when he was writing the lyrics, he felt the chorus surging up within him. Although he always puts his feelings into all of his songs, this one hits particularly close to home and he wanted to convey that to the listeners.
He then takes a break. While doing so, he tips in on the fact that he enjoys coming up with themes to do things. He likes giving the fans food for thought with the meaning of the themes, like, “This song was used for Alone, so that one must be... for Circle, I guess”. He then announces his upcoming album and goes back to playing with a song from it, “FREAKS”. Not much was commented on this one other than that it’s a new song and that he’d like everyone to listen to the new release.
The next song is “RED”. All he says for this one is “This one was a song titled ‘RED’”, and then goes straight to playing “Summer Time Record”, lol. He was only playing half of each song, but as a good Haruka fanboy, he played the entirety of this one. He goes on to explain that these two songs overlap with his childhood days, which has left very vivid and lively impressions in his mind, but he thinks they’re very lonesome songs, so he added them to “Alone”.
Jin starts saying his goodbyes and announces that he’ll be finishing the livestream after one final song, “Gojitsutan” – one that he had written last summer. He also made this one while thinking about his childhood self. After he finishes playing, he admits that the last song got his throat. He says he’s going to train more and get his revenge on said song later. He then thanks everyone and says his goodbyes once more, ending the livestream while asking his fans to do their best at living their lives so that they could meet next time.

Umk thoughts:
No-one deserved to come last, it was such tough competition. Like yes Kaarija was a very deserved winner, but everyone else was also great and would've done well at Eurovision. Generally vocals were much better than last year, but the camera work was a bit dodgy
Robin: I still hate the words he sings, but if it wasn't in english then this would be an absolute guilty pleasure. He was a little pitchy, but he has so much charisma, and I think this was one of the best stagings tonight. It matched the song well, looking professional but also fun. Again I can't ignore how much I hate the words, but I did actually enjoy this otherwise
Kuuma: I loved the camera cuts in the 2nd verse, really effective. Singer was bang on the whole time which was great. Visually they had a strong opening, but the final but when they walk around the stage it looks kinda flat and aimless. I also just kinda forget about the song, like it's pleasant but doesn't make a huge impact for me
Kaarija: First up the song is an absolute banger ofc. And I love the lil dance in the poppy part at the end, and the train. However something isn't quite right with the dancers in the opening. There's too much of them or their facial expressions don't work, but definitely some changes need to be made. I'm also a bit worried that I couldn't hear his live vocal very much. I'm hoping that gets a bit clearer at Liverpool and they fix up the staging, but this is still my fav selected song at the moment.
Keira: choreo and visuals were better than Bess last year, but I don't like the song as much. A little pitchy but not tooo bad. I don't think Keira hit the right attitude in some places, and she instead looked bored and not in a cool way. She needed to do some vocal gymnastics at the end to give it a bit more life
Benjamin: this was my personal favourite going in, but I knew to be worried about the live vocal. Considering what I was concerned about, he actually did better than I expected. Not perfect, but it definitely sounds like he did a lot of prep and it worked. I also like the new take on doable vocal gymnastics at the end - I don't think it worked quite perfectly but I liked the intention and shape. I'm so mad about the camera work just not being slick enough - it did detract from what was otherwise amazing staging. Not having backup dancers was a bold move but I think the correct one - they would've distracted from him and his energy. And yes work those light poles! I loved the staging concept, altho I think it could have been just a little lighter so we could see his face just a little more in parts. Ultimately that was a pretty minor concern tho, and this did not deserve last imo. It's interesting how polarised the juries were on it - some 0 points and some 12 points. Still mad about the camerawork, but otherwise I really enjoyed this and I hope he comes back in a couple of years
Lxandra: this is one of my favourite ballads ever I think, just so beautiful. The staging was really tasteful and well done - the moment when the sheets fell was such a moment. Her vocal was 99% perfect and she's really emotive. Why did the public put it last, that was an absolute tragedy. She's incredible and this was basically a perfect performance to me.
Portion boys: this was the most fun, their energy is so infectious and I just had an incredible time watching. I'm obsessed with the segway drums, absolutely inspired move. If this had won I couldn't even be mad because it'd be a guaranteed fun song I'd enjoy. Absolute banger, would love to see them live bc I think it'd be pure fun

SD: Sympathy for the Devil- 2018 Winter Olympics, Pyeongchang South Korea
This is probably my all time favourite VM program. As I discovered more of them there are others challenging for the top spot but this is the one I always want to watch and is the one I attach my first impressions of them to- there is always something with this program that I’m watching them like its the first time.
I’ve already raved about the costumes multiple times so lets just get straight into it.
1. The Opening (pose)
Once again we are talking about first impressions here. The first impression of VIRTUEMOIR. And what an introduction it is. I mean holy shit.. they just exude confidence. They really entered that arena and skated onto that ice like they owned it. Like instead of the olympics logo on the ice it should’ve just said ‘property of VM inc’. That soft breathe T takes as she passes the judges, them getting to make eye contact one last time before both turning to face the front. Scott telling her “lets go”. And not in a loud, excited, amped up way. Very calm but full of confidence and, yes now looking at it after knowing so much, a bit of foreboding, like, “alright T, last SD, lets show what we’ve got”. Also his clap and rolling his hands together, ughhhhh I melted… like thats just something you would not have seen him do ever before this season, maybe before this very performance, yet it doesn’t feel unnatural at all. It exudes confidence, he’s so ready to go. It just sets such a tone right away and tells you you really have no choice but to watch them. Taking their time to get to the still starting pose. The sass in their shoulders, the matching pointed toes, how their exact positions are different but complement each other PERFECTLY! Just everything about it I love it all!! Then the one shot on QUEEN T… I think this may have been where I stopped breathing. There is something about that shot of her every time I watch it where I feel like I don’t know her (i don’t- not personally, but given I blog about them everyday I feel like I have a familiarity with them now) something about it still feels like that first time where I thought ‘omg she is so stunning’- not just her physical beauty, but again, her confidence (which I’ll talk about eventually was such an important thing that she be able to have). Maybe it’s that she doesn’t often on or off ice wear make up that heavy, but I loved it and I just felt like I was looking at this real life wonder woman. She was so intimidating (in the best way possible) and just this huge energy which at the same time was so settled and contained. They haven’t even started dancing yet and I’m already shouting about how freaking empowering it was to see a woman in the most nerve racking moment of her life look that unstoppable.
Tumblr media
Ok, sorry. This post is meant to be about breaking down the program.. lets do that now and keep the gushing to a minimum. 🤫
2. The Opening (movement)
I can’t stress enough how hard I immediately fell in love with them when I heard that first ‘OWW’. This is one of my fave songs ever and really with the costumes being the first impression and being so different to typical latin (esp ice dance) costumes, not that I thought about it but once the music started it made so much sense that THAT was the song.
On that first ‘OWW’ as T does her point and (idk what to call it so I’m just gonna say) ‘seduction moment’ and she kinda spins a bit on her blade. That had never happened before (in a performance at least) so I wonder if that was maybe one of her little micro bobbles that only she felt. It doesn’t at all look like she was off balance or it wasn’t meant to happen, in fact it looks AMAZING like this because it stretched out that moment and made it so indulgent, and especially when it’s slowed down it’s just freaking magic.
Kurt Browning said in his commentary that Scott looked like an animal who hadn’t eaten in a month when he started and the way he looked at T. That is such a hard quality to pull of well- not have it be over the top or cringy. I always come back to with this dance that they managed to balance being extremely into each other as well as into themselves- acknowledge their own attractiveness and sexuality and play off that together. [The ‘being into yourself’ bit is not to be pompous or arrogant- it about abandoning any fear of judgement and not letting any insecurities show]. That’s what I feel as though specifically Scott’s ‘animal’ vibes are. Wanting to devour her and know she’s gonna want to be devoured by him. All that already portrayed in maybe.. 2 seconds…. 2 seconds into their program and you’re already getting that sense of performance and story from them.
I love that their latin movement compared to a lot of other teams was so much more, relaxed, as well as really dancey and not out of the ‘latin for dummies’ book. It looks so fun, like they are dancing in a latin bar. The latin movement fits so naturally in their bodies (and if it didn’t fit naturally they make it look as though it did). T’s hips are fantastic. She’s not over the top with it which again makes it feel more natural. Blending it with this more casual ‘rock’ music vibes as well helped in it not looking like a typical impersonation of Latin dancing- it was entirely their own thing.
Tumblr media
3. THE SAMBA ROLLS
THE MOMENT I WAS SNATCHED.. by that I mean that if I wasn’t already hooked by the costumes and their confidence and their beautiful faces and the MUSIC then this is where I was like oh damn! This was really my first experience watching ice dance with the understanding that it is different than pairs.. my closest understanding of it was ballroom tangos and waltzs. I’m not a trained latin dancer but I know enough about it to differentiate the styles and samba rolls are an iconic movement in samba dancing. When it’s done really well its like the man is stirring the woman. I’ve seen it done where the woman is bending almost equally to all front, back and sides, which also means the man has to be quite flexible for her the bend forward over him as he bends back. TS do this movement incredibly well. They are doing it faster then I’ve mostly seen it done and obviously their footwork is different because they are skating- they have a wider lunge position where as on the floor you would be taking more smaller steps. SO, to see a literal DANCE movement in a skating program done so well and so appropriately as to recognise this as a ‘samba’ dance, not just samba rhythm music (which I feel is what most other teams were doing) which up until now I had admittedly a naive understanding of skaters’ range of dance ability (which I still to this day maintain they are the ball around dancers without a doubt).
The movement after this is fantastic and all still in maybe the first 10/15 seconds of the program is setting the tone as this fun, dancey good time still with all the technical superiority. I almost feel like in that moment just after the samba rolls where he spins her under his arm and they have a little face to face moment, he asked her is she was all good with that little uncharacteristic slide/spin on her very first movement. I obviously have no way to know but in this interview she mentioned in the very beginning of both programs they had some tiny little glitches that only the two of them would’ve felt. Idk, its not a big deal either way but its nice to think about. It looks like they were saying something but it could’ve just been one of their scheduled key words.

4. Non-touch midline step sequence
(Bloody hell that’s a mouthful)
So this sequence mostly stayed the same throughout the season. There were actually some fun moments in the very first version at ACI, but my fave specific version was definitely SCI. It’s almost identical but there are some upper body movements that I love in this earlier version. There just seemed to be more musical detail. For example the little shoulder moment right after they round the corner. Also even though he ‘messed it up’ I like Scott’s ‘centre stage’ moment at SCI (with the ‘eyebrows’ ☺️). Other then that really there’s not much difference (I do not know how to differentiate the skating steps all I care about is the edge quality and the musicality. Their NTMLSS are in general phenomenal and beyond just their amazing skating technique which I just have to take everyone’s word for since I’m not qualified to determine that for fact (but it’s obvious) but one of the things I can identify as part of their excellence is the way they use their upper bodies. This is of course partly them having good choreography but the thing about good chore is it needs to have good dancers doing to make it appear good. I don’t like to call out specific teams on here to compare TS to, but with something like this it’s more a general thing with lots of teams. It’s what I call ‘YMCA’ skating.. where you get all the edges and turns on the music, but quite simple and stiff upper body movements. I will link the full 2018 SD event here so if you have a spare couple hours you can watch for yourself. But anyway, what I find with these types of movements is you start to see the skaters who aren’t actually “dancing” on ice.. The movement becomes broken down into lower body and upper body, with some separation in style and rhythm between the two. It doesn’t look fully coordinated, or the movement is very simple to allow for the skaters to be coordinated. I noticed this a lot both in this seasons (17/18 latin) and the season before (16/17 hip hop/blues) so you can also watch the worlds SD event to see the same thing in some teams. In BOTH TS movement you can see their shoulders move, their hips move, their body rolls. Just look where they both stop in the centre- how far Scott bends back- in a side view photo he’s bending almost 90 degrees back (that’s an exaggeration but it’s really fkn far!) It’s also in their characters- they don’t drop the spirit of the dance just because they are skating difficult steps individually. To summaries they are, you guessed it .. DANCING.. which considering the sport is called ice dance, that’s what I want to see, not skating sections and ‘dancing’ sections.
Tumblr media
5. The musical transition
To be perfectly honest.. the very first time I was kinda bummed when the music started to fade out of SFTD.. I was just kinda like ‘oh what that’s all we got of that’. BUT that was literally only for the first time I watched it because watching it a second time knowing to was coming.. it’s is such a fantastic musical transition. I kinda hate how in ice dance they often have to have ‘medleys’. Simply because of the requirements specifically in the SD/RD that has to be at least two “distinct” musical styles. I think I maybe remember reading at one point that in the rules for, I think this season but it may have been the season before.. that the NTMLSS had to be skated on a different rhythm to the set patter, so in this case rhumba. So inevitably unless you find the perfect music that has both the rhythm being used for the compulsory rhumba pattern (coz most teams did not you what I would describe as ‘rhumba’ music) and another of the optional rhythms, at least 2 pieces of music would have to be used. If there aren’t good musical transitions and good choreography to fit those changes, I really tend to hate the medley format. This musical change from SFTD to HC was ✨INSPIRED✨. The way the ‘OWW’s continue but gradually stretch out from 4 counts apart to 8 counts- the first of the last ‘OWWs’ where HC comes in and they hit that layback position 🫠 the sustain that glide itnto the corner. That last one being on the leg flick in the compulsory pattern. It was a tonal shift that along with the layout of the choreography fit so perfectly in creating the whole vibe of the program: This fun and dancey, but also hot and intimate smoothness- rhumba not being on upbeat music, gradually transitioning out of the iconic SFTD lyrics and samba beat.. it was just beautiful..
Tumblr media
I’ve already talked extensively about the rhumba pattern so I’m gonna skip that in this post
6. Choreographic moments between the rhumba and the circular step sequence in hold
Ok here we go, everyone’s favourite moment (although there didn’t appear to be a kiss this time ☹️). I reblogged this moment (from the TE) a long time ago when I first started posting on here that I had a very different take on this moment. Basically the gist of it was that I didn’t see it as purely this, hot, intimate, romantic, confirmation they are fucking moment. Yes it is incredibly hot and intimate and made my heart skip a beat, once again, that it’s their job to make you believe that but should be respected when they say that what most assume is not the case off ice (wonder if I’ll ever be able to stop saying that 🙄). But I personally found this to be more of a moment for them where they aren’t executing an element or any particularly difficult/complicated skating steps, to just take a moment to pause, get very close and just check in with each other. It doesn’t last particularly long but in a fast moving program, even a brief moment where they can just come back to their eyes and remind each other they are doing really well and just keep to breathing and stay focused. It can 100% be both that and this hot and indulgent moment at the same time. They can disguise it being a special moment for them in something that serves the character of the program. Also from a choreographic perspective it creates this light and shade in the program. The more complicated it is generally means there is more movement and more steps in it and with skating how it is that they are essentially always travelling and if not then standing on the spot, this acts as a nice highlight moment that also offers some calmness amidst all the intricate, technical skating.
All the lovely intertwining steps following this moment are fantastic as well (hard to see from this angle). That moment where they do stop and do their little latin swaying movement together was great and the best that moment ever looked because a few times earlier on it looked a little uncoordinated.. being much closer and making it more about their bodies then their arms waving I think is what makes this moment much smoother. After this is when I really start to love the partnering because it starts with Scott just manipulating her by holding her waist and it’s like T is rolling around him so effortlessly. Kind like he is playing with water and it just flows through his fingers and flows over each surface. T truly has the most beautiful movement quality. She hardly ever hits a bad position and the way she just fits so naturally in just about every style of movement is just magical. That is so hard. The fact that she started as a ballet dancer and took it very seriously as a young child had clearly stayed with her in the way she caries herself and used that strong core foundation to then add layers of different dance styles. This, then the fact that Scott without that strict foundation ballet training that T had can match her so beautifully while maintaining his own distinct quality of movement is just what makes them the most pleasant team to watch. Nothing feels fake or forced.
Tumblr media
7. Some highlight moments in the circular step sequence in hold
So the key requirements for this type of step sequence (*that I know of), (the other being the NTMLSS) is this one has to be fully completed touching the whole time- including in twizzles. It must start in foxtrot hold and finish with a ‘spin/skid stop’ to indicate the end of the sequence. What I like about this step sequence is the flow in and out of traditional holds and more modern ‘open’ holds. It’s again the fluidity of their movement which especially for a rhumba is an ideal quality. In this program they do 3 really distinct Latin styles (cha cha at the end there is only as small sampling with both the twizzles and lift in that section). They dance all these styles distinctly and with the appropriate carriage, energy and expression unique to each one, but have a fluid character storyline running through the whole program which doesn’t make it feel choppy.
I love this first moment in killian hold where they stay on that one LFI turned out edge and in unison passing their free leg from to back with that beautiful epaulement and head line on that high note in the music. That followed by that lovely arch back T has. Again, so indulgent- I’m using that word a lot for this program even though there isn’t really many moments they get to indulge for too long in. Somehow though they are able to create this light and shade through fast moving movement to create moments to feel indulgence and pleasure.
Then of course another fave moment, the ‘which part of T’s arm shall I bite moment’.. aka the ‘Nivea lotion’ moment (- for those who don’t know T posted a pic of this very moment from the team event where S was very close to her bare arm and captioned it ‘when that @ Nivea lotion just smells so good’.. our one and only QUEEN being sassy, flirty, and savage all at the same time 👑) this once again very intentionally but not at all apologetically or designed to stir shit up, is another example of their maturity and new found comfort in their artistry together to express very sensual themes and carry them off so naturally. It’s in the middle of a ‘required element’ where they have to remain in contact and hit all their edges and turns, yet come up with very creative choreography to portray their theme and energy and carry that throughout the dance. It’s like what I was saying earlier about the split you get in weaker teams of the ‘dancing’ and the ‘skating’ moments. With TS it’s this seamless blend of both athletic art forms.
Tumblr media
8. Twizzles
It’s really what happens right before these twizzles that I love so much. So once again we get a great musical transition from HC to Oy Como Va. this one more abrupt but the way it goes straight into the guitar solo and really says ‘here we go, home stretch’ like the final song of the encore at a great rock concert. The movement I really love on the build up in the music before the guitar solo starts, is they are in kinda a hand to hand hold, then Scott has his right hand on her back, he kinda delays it there and they look to each other for as long as possible before taking literally one step and then flying into the catch-foot twizzles. I love that kinda delayed contact with his hand on her back, idk it kinda makes me think of it like they’re playing tag or something, or like, ‘ready, set go! I’m gonna race ya!’ There’s something about that and the way I think of it that makes it seem really fun and without actually racing each other- like getting out of sync or off the music, is kinda a great energy to take into those very fast twizzles and the rest of the program as a whole. I also really love what they do with their hands/arms between each of the twizzles- the first one that outstretched arm and jazz hand going into the LBO twizzle, then bringing the arms down again with jazz hands before the last set.
Tumblr media
9. I just really love this moment
Ok this is just straight up fun from here on out. I love that moment perfectly on the guitar flick where she pushes off his chest and throws her hands up into that twizzle, then by holding her round the waist he swings her round and that fabulous sweeping edge change.
Tumblr media
10. Lift + Ending
Ok here’s where I’m gonna really expose my ‘first timer ice dance viewer ignorance’. At the time I did not know that ice dancers we’re not allowed to do over-head lifts.. VM did this lift-one of their signature lifts for that matter and I thought.. “huh.. that seems a bit simple..”
Now let me explain this. I did not think this lift was easy or simple, it was certainly spectacular- the speed at which they rotated, the one hand in the middle, the smoothness of it, oh yeh and they are on fucking ICE.. what I mean by my initial reaction is a) I was not aware about the no over head lifts thing- I just expected on of those one arm pairs press lifts or something. And b) this is a classic ballroom/Latin style lift I had seen professional Latin dancers do not even to this quality. It looked like a dance lift to me- I just wasn’t expecting that from skaters. It is of course such a great way to finish and in this same event seeing other lower ranked teams attempt this lift then seeing VM do it is really impressive and once again from a comparison pov puts them way ahead of everyone else.
The ending is just so happy. Almost immediately after the music stops they drop the hot, sexy Latin vibes and just become incredibly precious and squishy with their overwhelming joy and pride in each other that they had danced so well. That’s the other thing about them that as amazing as they are and what great actors/performers they are, they’re incredibly genuine and can’t hide their excitement (and for that matter disappointment in those instances) they always remain incredibly professional but to see their personalities shine, especially when this is the first impression of them-it just makes them instantly loveable.

Note
ok you mentioned it what would all of these fools go to karaoke songs be
I was just gonna pick songs from potential voice claims but since I'm not sure of those yet I'll avoid doing that and just go with songs that fit their vibes and themes.
Banner: I'm Not Calling You A Liar by Florence and the Machine. It is melancholy but sweet and allows her to be appreciative of her group which she can't always say in her own verbal words. Not a bad singer but is not a performer so some lyrics that should be belted are soft so as to not stand out, maybe just a tad flat due to shyness. Was most likely urged on stage and has the ads very enthusiastically cheering them on while they lament on how silly and embarrassing it all is. He still had fun in the end tho. 9/10 on the accuracy, 5/10 on voice.
Vidie: I Need a Woman to Love, Kesha Edition.Lloves the theatrics that can be involved in karaoke and wants a song that equally matches that. Was thinking of putting Hermit the Frog on her or Seventeen by Marina but so many pink ads are already Marian coded and it somewhat doesn't fit with Vidie's vibe to me. She like being the center of attention by provocing and this song does it for him. I imagine she more concerned with putting on a show than the lyrics so some things may sound off, just to get a point across or mess with the group... most likely Banner or Spam. 4/10 on voice (no control when singing) and 6/10 on accuracy.
Surv: Life in Her Yet by Rag N' Bone Man. I know you were thinking something really upbeat but I think Surv's singing voice is more suited towards mellow melancholy songs. It's probably Banner's tastes rubbing off on him or Audi's love of sentimental tracks seeping in, but he likes how they feel to sing and likes to direct the songs, especially ones like this one, to his partners. Plus it's nice to be smooth after all the intense peppiness he has to have for commercials and stuff. 7/10 on voice, 10/10 on accuracy.
Audi: Maple by Haley Kioko. This is a song that you don't necessarily need to be a strong or even great singer to sing. I like to think Audi would be playful and adlib with it, giggly like a teenager performing for their high school sweetheart(s). Audi is not a singer by any account and knows it and also doesn't care. He'll belt this song like it's a ballad for the audience and its partners but also like just them having fun. Lots of voice cracks and missed lines, maybe even asking the DJ to play something back so he can "nail it". 3/10 on voice, -100/10 on accuracy.
Spamton: Fear and Delight by the Correspondents. Idk if anyone saw the short animatic with the song but I can imagine a very not sober addispam giving the song all the energy he has and doing it pretty well. He, of course, misses some notes, but it's just the pace, tempo, and vibe he would nail if he had the confidence to do it sober. Plus, he could absolutely ham up the performance for the crowd and the other addisons. 8/10 on accuracy (the glitches mess him up) and 7/10 on voice ( a bit shy like Banner but also the glitches).
Now you may wonder what type of karaoke bar has this variety and range of songs, but you must remember this is the literal internet they live in, I think just about anything that was ever sung is at their disposal.
