#he better not be dead
Tumblr media
Seriously, the moment I saw him on screen, all I wanted was for him to be happy (even knowing that this was likely impossible, considering the show's premise).

SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 256!!
Yo WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!?!?
Never in a million years could I have expected some shit like this...I don't know whether to laugh or cry rn...
No way I'm believing that Donald is dead. That'd be the most anticlimactic climax ever!! But if he is dead then this is just absolutely CRUEL
What do you mean that the moment Donald begins to question his entire life, he gets hit by a fucking truck of all things?!?!
Now let's look at this from Gray's perspective...
What would one even feel in a situation like this? Gray lost his best friend to the petty actions of some bullies. The same thing happened again to Eugene and now is happening to the person who is the definition of everything Gray hates.
Now gray is a good person inherently. Ain't no way he is holding anything against a person who just almost fucking died in front of him. Maybe this will end up creating a situation where these two will actually end up talking and becoming friends?!?! Understanding each other's situations and sympathizing with each other??
Maybe Gray will finally help Donald live a better life?? Defend him when Cheongang tries to attack again??
Of course all this is assuming that Donald isn't dead...or ends up in a coma like Stephan...which seems like the most probable outcome. There was so much blood around his head...
God this must be so conflicting from Gray's point of view!!! Gray would never wish something like this on his worst enemy and now that it's happening right in front of him...
I think that this is a really good way to get our protagonist to empathize with the antagonist. Unfortunate accidents can happen to the kindest and the cruelest of people. Fate doesn't discriminate. 'The only thing granted equally to everyone is an unfair reality'.
This accident will give gray a chance to realize that maybe Stephan and Donald's situations aren't that different.
They were both wronged by the society because they were exceptionally smart. The difference is that Stephan was also kind to a fault and chose to bear through the tough times whereas Donald lost his mind probably after his mother died or something like that and chose to fight against his oppressors and became the oppressor himself.
In both situations, Stephan and Donald ended up suffering in the worst way possible.
Gray was also in a similar situation to both of them and he was able to get out of it unscathed because gray had friends to guide him into believing that the world isn't pitch black. Donald didn't have that and Stephan was too much of a self sacrificing idiot to confide in gray.
So can gray really hate Donald after learning his story? I don't think so! And Donald also just wants a friend GODDAMMIT!! That is all he ever truly wanted!!! Someone who'd understand him!! Talk about nerdy shit with him!! NOT someone who'd encourage his actions (cough Kingsley cough)
I swear to God if someone doesn't tell gray about donny's past then I'm gonna revolt.
AHHHHHHHEUEJEJJDKEK THIS IS SO GOOD!! I LOVE where this this is going. Lmk what u think!!

The Bronx Zoo has just released Flaco's necropsy results.
He was not thriving, as the people championing the ideal of "freedom" claimed.
He was poisoned.
He was sick.
He was suffering.
"Freedom" would have eventually killed him. A building just happened to do it first.
"Postmortem testing has been completed for Flaco, the Eurasian eagle owl that was found down in the courtyard of a Manhattan building a little over a year after his enclosure at the Central Park Zoo was vandalized on February 2, 2023. Onlookers reported that Flaco had flown into a building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on February 23, 2024, and acute trauma was found at necropsy. Bronx Zoo veterinary pathologists determined that in addition to the traumatic injuries, Flaco had two significant underlying conditions. He had a severe pigeon herpesvirus from eating feral pigeons that had become part of his diet, and exposure to four different anticoagulant rodenticides that are commonly used for rat control in New York City. These factors would have been debilitating and ultimately fatal, even without a traumatic injury, and may have predisposed him to flying into or falling from the building. The identified herpesvirus can be carried by healthy pigeons but may cause fatal disease in birds of prey including owls infected by eating pigeons. This virus has been previously found in New York City pigeons and owls. In Flaco’s case, the viral infection caused severe tissue damage and inflammation in many organs, including the spleen, liver, gastrointestinal tract, bone marrow, and brain.   No other contributing factors were identified through the extensive testing that was performed. Flaco’s severe illness and death are ultimately attributed to a combination of factors—infectious disease, toxin exposures, and traumatic injuries—that underscore the hazards faced by wild birds, especially in an urban setting."
The naturalistic fallacy kills animals in horrible ways. The romanticism of what humans want to think of as a "free, wild, pure life" cannot be allowed supplant the reality of injury, sickness, and death. Releasing captive animals (or keeping them from being recaptured) because it's "better" for them to suffer untethered than live a healthy, safe, captive life is inhumane and horrific.
Flaco's life didn't have to end in pain, sickness, and suffering.
Flaco's death didn't have to be tragic.
But once the idea of "freedom" entered the chat, Flaco's fate was unavoidable.

Thistle’s last act was to revive Marcille.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even while his desires were being fully consumed by the demon, he recognized the threat it posed and, in his final moments before ‘disappearing’, reached for Marcille’s hand. And in the process… seemingly revived her, given the winged lion’s reaction. Wagh…
Tumblr media
Incidentally… this is also part of why Marcille and Laios say this in the second to last chapter. She needed to be revived to revive the rest of the party + break the seal on the demon (which also caused problems… but it all worked out in the end.) Man.

Presence Pressure
Danny learned the reason why both his adopted parents and the GIW find it a little hard to somewhat track him down in human form (unlike when he's in ghost form) is because when he was still in the LOA he learned to suppress his presence (he was always good stealth, blending in, and other things like that, unlike his brother who didn't have the patience for it) and he does it subconsciously in human form but not in ghost form.
After finding that out he starts to train his ghost form to suppress his core/presence to that nearly of a blob ghost (and boy has it been fun being able to sneak his way into fights when his rogues come to town. Skulker is both the best and worst, he enjoys the challenge, Danny won't lie he enjoys testing his abilities against the 'greatest hunter')
Once Danny got a good handle on it, his parents suddenly burst into his room and announced that they're heading to Gotham tonight!
Cause apparently that 'ghost scum' ecto-signature has been detected there and they finally found it after months of recalibrating their inventions to find his trail. (And where his parents went the GIW have their eyes in his parents which meant they're not to far behind)
Danny is stunned (he forgot Damian and his DNA were very similar due to being 'hand-crafted' and the fact they grew up around the Lazarus Pits, that Danny suspected was dirty ecto now)
Oh... oh no.

Prompt 207
Danny does not come out of the portal.
In fact, he’s lost. Very lost. He just wants to go home and is getting scared of everything around him because he doesn’t know what’s going on. But! But he’s found an (admittedly also terrifying) castle or keep or whatever they’re called that all the ghosts avoid!
It never exactly enters his mind that they might have been avoiding such a place for a reason.
In unrelated news, the first thing Fright Knight sees after his sword was (accidentally) knocked free from its prison is not a blob ghost- they’ve done it a few times over the eternities- but a ghostling. A newborn ghostling, who promptly bursts into tears to his genuine horror. What did he do?!

Prompt
Tim is a genius, so it’s really no surprise that he’s got the number of each batfamily member saved in his phone long before he becomes Robin.
But then Jason dies (and comes back to life) and Tim is struggling to keep Bruce alive and Dick from spiraling.
To cope with the stress of having the lives of Gotham’s two most important vigilantes depend on him he starts leaving Jason voicemails and text messages on his old number detailing progress and setbacks, fears and hopes, and the dream of finally finding somewhere he belongs. Along with the crushing realization that Tim’s own hero — Jason— is long dead.
Unbeknownst to Tim, Jason listens to and reads every single one of the messages.

Generation Loss is a comedic tragedy in every sense of the word. Every character we see exemplifies this fact, but no one other than The Austin Show proves its truth.
We begin at the carousel. Austin, Gay, takes his turn by pleading for himself to live because he has a wife and children back home. The rest of the cast interrogates him about his “wife and kids,” clearly suspicious of his truthfulness without even knowing his dubbed “title.” Everyone in the room treats Austin like a joke.
In turn, so do we.
Tumblr media
Next, we reach the closet and shortly after the failed drag show, Austin remarks, “Look, I uh… I didn’t expect to die here.” It’s a moment of pure honesty, whether we like it or not. It happens again when the Puzzler tries to party with them, and Austin has to angrily remind him that they are his captives and are actively trying to kill them.
Austin: “What are you doing? What are you doing? What are you doing? We're trying to get out of here. I have children and wives— wife. One wife! What is this some sort of game? I’ve been stuck in hear for hours it seems. We’re trying to get out. Why is nobody else freaking out? We’ve got C4 strapped to our neck…”
It isn’t until Ethan’s death, his blood pooling out from underneath the door, Austin screaming at the others, begging them to have a reaction, to care about their circumstances, to care about death, that we finally understand Austin’s role in Generation Loss.
After all, in every great comedy, someone always has to play the straight man.
