And, the scene of Harry looking at Ginny running after the train is literally the one paralleled in the very last scene of the saga, so don't try and tell me it's not a major scene. At that moment everything does change.

While the song talks about an encounter with more conversation than the amount Harry and Ginny have at this point, the general concept is the one of meeting someone for the first time and being enchanted by them.

Post-Chamber -> Superman - Ginny's pov

And you smile and say, "How are you?" I'll say, "Just fine" I always forget to tell you I love you, I love you forever

This reminds me of Ginny being tongue-tied around Harry and not being able to express herself properly.

Ginny watching Harry "saving the world" and generally observing him from afar, fantasizing about being one day with him when he'll stop being so busy to not even notice her.

Ginny finding out Harry invited Cho to the Ball, watching him watching her... while believing she would be the right choice for him.

I've been spending the last eight months Thinking all love ever does Is break and burn, and end But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again

This song talks about moving on from a bad relationship and finding out the enjoyment of a relationship again. And Harry here is the "bad" guy. While Ginny and Harry hadn't dated yet at this point, Ginny was deeply emotionally invested in the idea of being in a relationship with him and it only brought her heartbreak. Letting go of that allows her to start dating Michael, and find out that liking someone can be simply fun, and enjoyable.

Fifth year -> New Year's Day - Ginny's pov

Don't read the last page But I stay when it's hard, or it's wrong, or we're making mistakes I want your midnights But I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's Day

This song talks about wanting to be there for someone even at their lowest. Even when the party is over and it's time to clean up. Now, tell me this is not what Ginny does for Harry in OotP.

Harry's realisation -> Jump then Fall - Harry's pov

I like the way you sound in the morning We're on the phone and without a warning I realize your laugh is the best sound I have ever heard I like the way I can't keep my focus I watch you talk, you didn't notice I hear the words but all I can think is We should be together

Well, this song is about realising that you are in love with someone you already care about. Very self-explenatory.

Ginny's denial -> Gorgeous - Ginny's pov

You should take it as a compliment That I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk You should think about the consequence Of your magnetic field being a little too strong And I got a boyfriend, he's older than us He's in the club doing, I don't know what

Dean is probably older than Harry so even that checks out.

This is obviously about Ginny being attracted to Harry but still being with Dean, wanting Harry with her in delicate moments like when Ron gets poisoned but not wanting Dean. In short, refusing to admit that she should break up with Dean and just snog Harry.

Also, a friendly reminder that Ginny canonically does Harry's impression.

Harry's pining -> Speak Now - Harry's pov

This is surely not what you thought it would be I lose myself in a daydream Where I stand and say

Taylor here uses the very dramatic metaphor of barging in at a wedding to tell about loving someone that is with someone else and knowing they aren't right together. This dramatic attitude is very Harry-ish and sounds like something out of his daydreams.

Ginny's break-up with Dean -> Getaway car - Ginny's pov

Ginny gets in a relationship with Dean right after breaking up with Micheal and Dean always seems to consider the relationship far more serious than Ginny ever does. And all that time she was in love with Harry.

Ginny's realisation -> Labyrinth - Ginny's pov

Ginny and her curse of being unable to get over Harry.

Accepting that she is very much not given up on him.

Harry's conflict -> Gold Rush - Harry's pov

This is a bit of a stretch because the person that sings here decides to not go for it in the end but there are some very interesting lyrics.

Something I've always really loved about Harry's relationship (not even romantic) with Ginny is that he never had a problem calling her out, he was never afraid of losing her because of it. He is never afraid of being confrontational with her.

Harry killing himself over the idea of someone else asking Ginny out before him. The chest monster at its finest.

Harry having the whole debate Ginny/Ron and feeling guilty because it doesn't matter how much he tries, he can't stop thinking about her, being around her, laughing with her.

Harry not worrying about the end even if somewhere in the back of his mind he knows what it's going to happen.

Harry around Ginny becomes this incredibly normal guy. Just a teenager.

Getting into a relationship that you know is doomed from the start. Ginny not crying, not putting up a fight, leaving as lasting memory her strength.

Post break-up -> Tied together with a smile - Ron's pov

Yep. Ron's pov.

Ron is the only one that knows how much Ginny suffers from the break-up and seems to hold some resentment towards Harry for how he behaved. We see it when they fight after Harry and Ginny's birthday kiss but also in the big argument that makes Ron leave the Horcrux hunt.

Stolen kiss -> Sparks fly

Honestly this entire song is about the kiss in Ginny's room.

Harry's pov:

The uncertainty of where they stand after the war. Harry's awareness he fucked up in the Room of Requirments when he told her to not fight but also his standing by it.

But also Harry's resolution to talk to Ginny.

Listen, there's no way in hell they didn't argue after the war about some things that Harry did (cough cough room of requirements business) and between traumas and the topics at hand and their tempers there must have been at least one very bad argument. And I think it made Harry panic a bit about losing her due to the previously mentioned trauma.

Harry's questionable actions towards Ginny are due to his crippling fear of her dying like all the people he previously called family.

These lyrics are like Hinny: the summary.

Harry and Ginny are tied together since the very first time he sees her at King's Cross, and finally, after the war, everything falls into place.

This song is the definition of Harry and Ginny in the summer after the war.

Harry is aware that he can never really give Ginny peace due to who he is.

These lyrics are meant to be about doing completely normal things together, and Harry and Ginny went through a war to be able to live a normal life together.

And there's a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you dear

I find something about this strongly reminiscent of that je ne sais quoi that exists from the start between Harry and Ginny.

Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years?

I think this is a great reference to how immediately comfortable they are with each other from the start of their relationship.

Harry's pov:

Can I go where you go? Can we always be this close forever and ever? And ah, take me out, and take me home You're my, my, my, my Lover

Harry references Ginny as his home more than once during DH, and of course, once they marry that would become official.

Ginny's pov:

Ginny waited a very long time to be with Harry and went through at least a couple of heartbreaks but it was worth it in the end.

And back to both:

And how can we not conclude this with a reference to Harry and Ginny's shared sense of humour? Something that connected them even before they were proper friends.

The members have decided to make some time to go on a vacation together!

It is said that they seriously(?) thought about where to go.

Among the numerous options, where is the final destination they picked?

It is the amusement park that Yoosung★ strongly insisted on!

It was reported that this season's amusement park was also operating a horror-themed haunted house in preparation for summer, so some members became curious and voted for the amusement park… 🧐

It's been a long time since we all spent a holiday together, and some of the members who shouted, "Let's stay at home on our days off!" are said to be secretly looking forward to it.

The members ended up going to the amusement park due to Yoosung’s★ suggestion of trying to play like children to celebrate Children’s Day!

It feels a bit hectic in the bustling atmosphere, but why do they feel excited, whether it's because of the sunny weather or the people they’re with …?

Opinions are already starting to diverge between let's prepare a lunch box vs. let's just go and buy it since it's too much of a hassle. Jaehee, who mediates in the middle, is said to just be sighing.

Headbands are an essential part of amusement parks, and we’re looking forward to seeing what each member chooses.

The Starlight Initiative Presents: A Weekend of Gift Giving!

Hello there, and happy holidays to you and yours!

The Starlight Initiative is here, and we would like to invite you to join us in Mateus on the Crystal Data Center from December 8th thru the 10th! On that particular weekend from 6 PM - 11 PM Central time each night, you are invited to come over and ask us and our wonderful Little Helpers for something you'd like this Starlight Celebration! The main events will be taking place at the Starry Garden in Empyreum, Ward 9, Plot 42!

More information as well as a Discord link under the cut!

No worries if you can't make those specific times! Feel free to inform us of any time concerns you have, and we'll make a personal delivery at a time that is good for you!

If you would like to join our Discord for more information, or even to volunteer your own time and efforts, you can find the link here! Note that raffles for our high-value items (5 mil gil+ items) will be held here so that we can coordinate how best to get winners their prizes! Otherwise, we are willing to answer any and all questions you may have through the Ask system, in-game if you see us, or through Messages!

We have crafters, gatherers, people who are eager to run content, and more who have all generously donated their time for those that would like something they've been looking forward to this year. We also have a great many things stockpiled ready to distribute for those that are looking for such things.

This is our very first year holding such an event, and we're all very excited to fulfil just about any wishes that you might have! Due to this being our first year, we do have some requests for people to please bear in mind:

Keep your wishes limited to three per person if you could, please!

Make sure that what you're asking for is tradable or can be farmed! We do have people willing to help farm for some stuff up to a point. We're not confident enough this year to say we have dedicated raiders to help with Endwalker and most Shadowbringer farms, but we can certainly do our best to have a space where you can coordinate these efforts with the help of those that we have that are confident enough to do so!

Be sure not to ask for things that may cost more than 5 million gil -- much as we would love to gift you something that is that price and more, we don't want to stretch our funds immediately across everyone who has been willing to donate gil. Hopefully next year, we can truly be able to gift anything at any time!

We are always looking for volunteers or donors that are willing to contribute to the event in any capacity if you're feeling generous! ^_^

Yes, it depends on the country (in Mexico it is celebrated on May 10th, in Britain on March 10th, in some Orthodox countries it is two weeks before Christmas), but generally it is taken on the second Sunday of May and yes, the mother is an extremely important figure in the family because it gives offspring and preserves it and takes care of it. Also, there is a lot of religious significance, especially in the Christian one, when you look at Mary, the mother of Jesus, who took care of Jesus until Jesus started his activity and teaching others. Also, there are a lot of fictional mothers in various literary works, films, plays, comics, video games and cartoons of various genres. Well, it's the same in Donald Duck comics and Donald Duck cartoons, which I'm particularly attached to.

Of course, so that I didn't do anything related to that holiday (and there will be those drawings for sure), I will post earlier drawings like the ones I did last year, only on this blog of mine where I publish my drawings, otherwise I did this last year related to Duckvember themed around mother ducks. I chose three maternal figures from the Duckverse (Disney comics and Ducktales) namely Grandma Duck, Daisy and Della Duck.

The first drawing was related to the 80th anniversary of her first appearance, and I mean Grandma Duck (Elvira Coot). And certainly she is responsible for the development of Donald Duck, as well as his sister and his cousins. And all her children are together, some around her and some in the portraits. Yes, I drew Grandma Duck (Elvira Coot) as I envision her in the Quack Pack version, as well as the rest of the Duck family. Yes, she's alive in my version of the Quack Pack AU, only she's much older, but mostly she's happy to have living descendants around to take care of her. Especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The other drawing I did was Della Duck with her sons, Huey, Dewey and Louie plus Phooey Duck (Donald’s fourth lost nephew) and Daisy Duck with her nieces, April, May and June Duck. Della and Daisy are mother figures to them, and their children are teenagers. Yes, as in the previous drawing, I drew in the Quack Pack version or the way I imagine. I hope you like it. A 10 songs bilingual Sycamore/Lysandre playlist (in honor of Pokémon X&Y's 10th anniversary)

Why a bilingual playlist? Well because I'm a bilingual guy, for a start, and because my experience with Pokémon X&Y in general and this ship in particular has always been bilingual as well (even trilingual, arguably.) I wanted to put together some of my favorite songs in English for them and introduce English-speaking fans to some of my favorite French songs for them, too. A lot of those songs are songs I've quoted, mentioned, or even used as inspiration for art and fic.

(Why is Augustine on the English side and Lysandre on the French side? Because I thought Lysandre would be offended at the idea of being on the English side while Augustine wouldn't care about it as much.)

The flooding in Texas right now is honestly scary. My campus and most others in our network have been and will be shutdown for days. I just hope we can get thru finals next week. GEMINI SEASON: Jigsaw Pieces

Gemini season bounds in, bright-eyed and with a mischievous glint, and boy, will we be having a good time in our personal lives or within our intimate selves.

The energy of Gemini is like battery being recharged, which makes the pursuits we have been doing get a boost of energy and jubilation.

Not Like The Other Astrologers.

I have been contemplating what place Astrology and spirituality/wellness have in my life going forward. Truth be told, I have been doing really well without it. I don’t know if I have needed these tools; maybe I just needed the confidence in myself and to focus on developing a strong sense of self through my actions, trials, tribulations, and life experiences. You know when the sun comes out and we stop being depressed? This is also where some of you may find yourself, too—considering what life you want to live and what things, coping mechanisms, tools, and comforts are slowly losing their importance and value in your life as you outgrow them.

Puzzle Pieces Don't Fit

The piece of the puzzle was fitted in wrong and needs to be removed to allow other pieces to come together. Social justice upheaval and change is becoming more and more a focus how can we be in community with each other, help and lift others, the me me self of capitalism is getting put in a trash bag and thrown out. I am seeing power to the people, and the fall of celebrity culture in the West due to the consistent exposure of corrupt people causing harm. The war in the Middle East takes a surprising turn, and the powers, or perceived powers, shift toward those who are continuing to fight for the Palestinian people who are resisting the genocide and removal from their homeland.

For months, many of us have watched powerless, detached, desensitised, and numb, but are we growing collectively towards overthrowing the big bad wolves that have dominated and controlled our societies for as long as we and our ancestors can remember?

There is a force that tips the table over, shakes it down, and the result of this is not as expected, which shifts our collective perception of ‘power,’ force, and control.

Let's see what Gemini season is presenting to the signs.

Gemini, Happy Birthday!!! It's your season finally!! (as you roll your eyes at me). You are not Leo or Virgo or Scorpio who feel superior when their season rolls around. For you, I see you more focused on a mission, a side quest, a secretive task, putting the clues and pieces together. This has been going on for a while—since Capricorn season, I believe. Happy upcoming holidays everyone!

With the Christmas/New Year season coming, I’ve decided to take a small break away and reduce activity, recharge and figure out what 2024 is bringing.

I’ve been here for a while, since 2020 and I’ve watched the community go through a lot of changes. Some good, some ugly and some brought more pain than they should have. I’ve made some wonderful friends through this community but I’ve also had my boundaries overstepped by selfish people. So many things have happened and it will do me some good to think about what it is I want to do moving forward.

Here are some upcoming things to be aware of:

From the 15th of December to the 15th of January, I will not be dash active for those who aren’t connected to my bots in some way. If you do not have a special tag/classed as an important person then I will not be reblogging anything from you during this time. This is to minimise my activity and focus on the connections I have. You are welcome to tag me but I will not respond.

I have recently redone my tag list and blocked a lot of people who have continued to not follow my simple request of mutual effort. I have said this so many times and it is on my rules, I’ve made posts in regard to this and it is something everyone has issues with. If you tag me and I interact, I expect the same effort from you. I am no longer going to warn these things, my rules are simple and a lot of us have multiple bots that interact so it really shouldn’t be getting to a point of constantly repeating. From now on, it’s a block, not because I have issues with you but because it keeps my notifications clean and saves me interacting with people who don’t give in kind.

If you have multiple bots and it has become a pattern of constantly making and deleting/abandoning them — I will block you. It’s a waste of time and effort to interact and engage with an account that is gone within the following month. Do as you will, of course, this is again, keeping my notifications clean.

I will slowly be reaching out to those I have chats with and checking in. I know chats take time to get through but I would like to know how things are going for you and make sure we are on the same page moving forward.

People who are wanting to start new chats will have to wait until after I’m back as I do now want to start anything new right now. I will be focusing more on DMs during my break and hopefully moving things forward.

If a chat has been inactive for 2+ months, it will be deleted. Again, shouldn’t have to constantly be chasing certain things and it’s unfair for me to be waiting around for someone who doesn’t want to communicate or give effort. There may be some exceptions to this but since I do make it clear that communication is important, it is unlikely at this point.

What is happening in December:

I will be doing two ask games over the next two days. One is catered towards partners/interests of the bots I run and the other is for everyone. The game that is for partners is ONE ASK per couple.

Each bot will get a post next week, this will be the final post for the year.

Christmas presents will be queued up and the recipient tagged over the 24th - 26th. Please be aware that not everyone who is connected to a muse will get a gift. This is depending on their bond and how well they know each other; this is to reduce the amount of posts I need to make. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, please reach out.

Wakana 3rd Album Details Revealed & New Artist Visual

Following the little teasers from yesterday, we finally have some concrete news today.

Wakana’s 3rd original album 『そのさきへ』 ("Sono saki e") will be released physically/digitally on May 31st. The first new album in over 3 years welcomes Satoshi Takebe as producer and is comprised of a total of 10 tracks including the songs "標 (Shirushi)" composed by singer-songwriter Yoshiko Hanzaki, “明日を夢見て歌う(Asu wo Yume Mite Utau)” composed/arranged by Satoshi Takebe with lyrics written by Wakana as well as "Flag", a character theme song for the mobile app “Memento Mori”. Thomas, Lord Erskine was born January 10th 1750. During his lifetime he became Britain's foremost advocate, through his defence of people accused of treason and corruption.

His defence of Thomas Paine, accused of high treason for his work, The Rights of Man, cost him his position as Attorney General to the Prince of Wales. Later, Erskine totally alienated George IV by defending Queen Caroline against the king's attempt to deprive her of her rights and title.

Rather go into all the boring education, career stuff I will focus more on the man, the character, for I think Lord Erskine was a bit of a character, he had a favourite dog with him at all his consultations in Chambers a favourite a large Newfoundland dog called "Toss". He taught it to sit upon a chair in chambers with his paws placed before him on the table. Erskine would put an open book before him, a wig upon his head and one of his advocate's bands around his neck. What his clients thought of this exhibition we do not know, but it is unlikely that they would have forsaken him for another counsel.

He was obviously an animal lover a dog he kept by him was one he had rescued from some boys in the street when they were about to kill it. Later, on March 2, 1811, he sent a bitch to a fellow peer with a note to say that, "her name is Lucky and may all good luck attend your Lordship".

He also had a pet goose which followed him about in his grounds, a macaw and a great many other dumb friends. He even had two special leeches which he believed had saved his life when he was ill and which he called his "bottle conjurors". These he kept in a glass and, he said, he gave them fresh water every day and had formed a friendship with them. He would often argue the likely result of a case on how they swam or crawled.

Erskine said he was sure they both knew him and were grateful to him. They were called "Home" and "Cline" after two celebrated surgeons with quite different dispositions. He amassed the company at a party given at his villa in Hampstead, near "The Spaniard's Inn", by talking about his regard for animals and, in particular, those to whom he was attached. He then produced the leeches in their glass which he placed upon the table. It was impossible, however, wrote Samuel Romilly who was present, "without the vivacity, the tones, the details, and the gestures of Lord Erskine, to give an adequate idea of this singular scene".

He introduced into the Lords a Bill for the prevention of malicious and wanton cruelty to animals, saying that it was a subject very near to his heart. Disgusting outrages, which he said

"were too painful to describe, were being perpetrated upon animals whilst the law did nothing. This was because animals were considered only as property. They were entirely without protection from cruelty and they had no rights. Yet man's dominion over them was not given by God for their torture but as a moral trust.

Nature had provided the same organs and feelings for enjoyment and happiness to animals as to man -- seeing, hearing, feeling, thinking, the sensations of pain and pleasure, love, anger and sensibility to kindness. Such creatures might have been created for man's use but not for his abuse. Towards them, as in all other things, men's duties and interests were inseparable. Extending humanity to animals would have a most powerful effect on men's moral sense and upon their feelings and sympathies for each other."

When the speech was published as a pamphlet, its editor suggested in the Preface that it should be introduced to families and schools and deserved to be circulated "among the lower classes of society by the clergy, and by all moral and pious persons'.

When the Bill was in its Committee stage, Erskine pointed out that during his 30 years of Parliamentary life he had never before proposed any alteration in the law. He still had no wish, he said, to link a statute with his name; he had a better motive. If the Bill were enacted, it would not only be an honour to the country but would mark an era in the history of the world. In the event, the House of Commons proved not to be ready for animal rights and the Bill was defeated but eventually went through in 1809.

Lastly and briefly, perhaps our Lord Erskine was also a wee bit of a romantic, he survived his first wife, Frances, she passed away in 1805 after 35 years of marriage, on October 12, 1818 he married Sarah Buck in Gretna Green, he was 20 years her senior.

It is said he never missed a day in court and led a very healthy life but in 1823 Erskine set out by sea on a visit to Scotland with one of his sons, hoping to see his brother the Earl of Buchan. But he became ill with a chest infection on the journey and was put ashore at Scarborough.

He managed to travel to the home of his brother Henry's widow in Almondell in West Lothian, where they were joined by the earl. He died at Almondell on 17 November 1823 and was buried in the family burial-place at Uphall in present day West Lothian.

Sage: Oo-o-oo-obviously I’d know that out of all things….!

Jay: Ahahaha, you sound like the fans I run into when I’m out in town

Jay: Ah, I see. Did you fight against a strong team then?

Sage: Hmm… I’d say that’s half-correct. North is, or rather Marion-kun, without a doubt a cut above the rest from the same generation.

Sage: But, the matter of luck plays a huge role in who you go up against, so that’s not the part that I have regrets over

Jay: Ooh. Surprisingly, you are able to analyze calmly.

Jay: So what were you evaluating then?

Sage: …Regarding the team’s capabilities, it should’ve been able to turn into a good fight with Marion-kun.

Sage: Even then it was a complete loss, and the biggest reason for it is my own lack of ability…

Sage: Everyone fought in a way that showed the results of their training, and I was next to them unable to do anything in return.

Jay: Oooh…

Sage: When I tried to lend a hand to my teammate, he said “I’ll protect myself by my own means” right back…

Sage: The least I’m able to do at the moment, was not needed in the slightest back then

Jay: You know cooperating is important? You get told that time and time again during your daily training, no?

Jay: Whatever the results may be, having acted in a way that involved cooperating with your teammates is a point worthy of praise.

Sage: …Sensei also taught me how I have to prioritize teamwork.

Jay: Sensei?

Sage: Ah, my mentor…Robin Goodweather, I mean. I refer to him as “Sensei”…

Jay: Aah, you’re one of Robin’s rookies, huh.

Sage: You know about Sensei?

Jay: Of course. I acted as a mentor for the 10th generation. While he wasn’t a mentee under my direct guidance, we did spend those three years side by side.

Jay: He always had a friendly smile on him,or rather he was a guy who I couldn’t quite read due to how he was smiling whenever.

Jay: Haha, I see, I see. He became a mentor and is raising his own rookies

Sage: Uwaaah… To think there’s someone that sees Sensei in such light! It’s truly refreshing♪

Jay: Could it be that you're Robin’s favorite student?

Sage: Favorite student?

Jay: I had the chance to talk with Robin not long before the 12th generation got admitted. At that time he told me about a boy he knows who’ll be joining too.

Jay: He was smiling as he always did, but you could see how happy he was.

Jay: It made me think how there’ll be a kid with a lot of promise joining, and I looked forward to it quite a bit myself

Sage: Sensei, did that…?

Sage: Ahaha…. I love being praised by Sensei more than anything, but it’s making me blush a little to hear it like this from other people.

Jay: Anyone would think of their own student as cute.

Jay: Now with that out of the way…. To get back on track, as someone who only just got admitted, you should properly listen to what your mentor has to say

Jay: In the case Robin said to value teamwork, then you are not in the wrong for having listened to him. Have more confidence in yourself.

So while I know that asking dc to make decent Jason Todd content is futile at best and a monkey paw’s curse at worst, there are some ideas I wish that they’d explore.

Imagine, a story that shows us more of pre-homeless Jason’s life and contrasting that with current Jason’s isolation. No overt tragedy. No focusing on Catherine’s addiction or Willis’ abuse/crimes. Just a normal ass day where the angst is created by the juxtaposition of happy baby Jason and current depressed Jason. Like I love angst and tragedy, but sometimes instead of showing us how fucked up his life is, why not just show us some good days and make the reader sad via fluff.

This is going to be kinda long and rambly so I’m putting the rest under a cut.

Have the story follow Jason on a day off. Just straight up no vigilante work. No costumes, no planning, no crime.

When he wakes up, have him already be kind of melancholic (and for a free fanservice shot because it’s a Bat comic and those are a requirement now I guess) and make sure to show the date as May 10th *. There is a message from Stephanie on his phone telling him, “Thanks for agreeing to cover me on Sunday.”

Have us follow him to a corner store that he used to go to when he was a kid. Have him be known as Cathy’s Boy instead of Willis’ kid. Fuck Willis we’ve had enough of him, show us Catherine’s relationship with Park Row. Have the shop owners call Jason “Flaquito”, because we’ve seen the Harlowe’s call him “Skinny Jason Todd” and nicknames never die. As George Lopez once put it, “You shit in your pants one time, you’re Caca for the rest of your life. It could be a grown man, fucking Caca. “Guess who’s getting married.” “Who?” “Caca.”

Have it so that not everyone knows what happened to the Todd family (even in tight knit communities you have to remember that people are self-centered and sometimes someone just disappears and you hope that it was because they moved. Plus would you think that the kid you once knew got adopted by a billionaire? Also, despite everyone making the Waynes celebrities, I can assure you that most people don’t know shit about them.) and they’re happy to see Jason again.

Have Jason pick up ingredients for a recipe he remembers Catherine making when they had money (because I don’t know how to tell you guys this, but when you’re poor you still splurge on some things. Money is always tight and money is never a guarantee so you need to enjoy things when you’re able to). Maybe she learned it from some old neighbors. Maybe Jason knew these old neighbors who moved away from Gotham. (Give the boy some fucking bonds that didn’t end in tragedy dc!)

Have Jason go to a family selling flowers by the road. It’s a different family then the one he remembers, but over a decade later and there’s still people here selling flowers. He specifically buys some pink carnations with a flashback showing Jason ask Catherine for her favorite colors so she could get the prettiest flowers. She says favorite colors are pink and yellow but she doesn’t like yellow flowers because, “Yellow is too depressing a color for flowers, Jay.” **

On his way back home Jason passes by a group of people having a party in a small plaza near the apartments. There’s a bunch of people dancing but it seems to mostly be middle-aged women having a blast with one another. Have a flashback to the exact same women but younger dancing with Catherine who encourages Jason to dance with them because “Women love a man who takes them dancing.”

Have Willis be someone who used to take Catherine dancing because my god do authors try to fit Jason into this toxic-masculine role (which they can I guess) but if Latinos, a group of people who are entrenched in a toxic-masculine mindset, still have some non-violent or oppressive ways of expressing themselves physically (dancing) then so can Jason. Please let me give my son some sort of physical way to destress that isn’t tied to cape-life (I know Dana called Jason a shit dancer but here’s the thing, you can be good at dancing some good things and horrible at others. The amount of people I know who can fucking slay at rumba, samba, bachata, cumbia, etc. but are lost as hell when it comes to American music is staggering. Even more when they only know how to dance with a partner). Plus there needs to be a reason why Catherine stayed with Willis pre-Jason, might as well make him be a bomb-ass dancer.

Jason gets roped into dancing with the group of aunties because you can’t say No to aunties it's against the law. Have him be a little clumsy before getting back into the hang of it (again flashbacks of a happy Jason dancing with the same tias because if there’s anything a tia loves, it is a polite (which we’ve already had confirmation that Jason was a polite boy from the Harlowes) boy who listens to them and can dance) and have the exact woman he danced with as a kid be the one he’s dancing with now but years older.

Just keep going through his day and have him try and connect with his old neighborhood in memory of his mom. Let him bring his walls down for one day.

The story would end with simultaneous panels of child and adult Jason putting on music (with child Jason putting on a CD while adult Jason is using his phone) before cooking dinner with the words of Juan Gabriel’s Amor Eterno playing in the background as we slowly zoom out.***

Some info for things I didn’t really explain:

* May 10th is Mother’s Day for Mexico and Guatemala but I’ve seen other Latinos adopt it. My own personal experiences with this day are that several working class Latina moms would take this day off to celebrate and then pick up extra shifts on American Mother’s Day so they can make more money by working all day while other moms try to get the day off. I believe Catherine would do the same so she could spend the day with Jason and not lose money.

** This quote is straight from my mom’s mouth. Yellow flowers aren’t generally seen as depressing, but cempasúchil (Mexican Marigolds) are famously used for Día de los Muertos so some people associate yellow flowers with funerals.

Catherine’s favorite color being pink is also a little nod to fandom’s take on Talia being like a mother figure to Jason. Since her main outfit for a good while was a pink jumpsuit I made it Catherine’s favorite color so Jason can honor them both in one action.

*** Amor Eterno is a famous song created in 1984 by Juan Gabriel about his mother after her passing. It is an incredibly famous song and one that is played both at funerals and Mother’s Day.

Feast Day: Michaelmas, or St. Michael and All the Angels

Happy Michaelmas!

Michaelmas celebrates the Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael; and in Anglican and Episcopalian tradition includes two other angels from apocryphal (not in Biblical canon) texts named Uriel and Jerahmeel. However, as the name suggests, most of the day is about Michael. Regarded as the warrior who drove Satan out of heaven, Michael is associated strongly with protection and military might. He is the patron saint of police officers, warriors, the sick, mariners, against lightning and windstorms, and of many places including France, Germany, Vatican City, and Ukraine and its capital Kyiv.

Michaelmas was one of the major observed saint's days in mediaeval and early modern England, Scotland, and Ireland. Keep reading to find learn about how the Devil was yeeted from heaven, if you're going to get married soon, and why you shouldn't eat blackberries after October 10th.

History

As an angel, Michael doesn't have a 'life', per se, but he is well-known and venerated in a variety of Abrahamic religions. The earliest recorded mention of his is from the Book of Enoch, a Hebrew apocalyptic text from the 3rd century BCE. The Book of Enoch contains other bits of juicy information on the origin of demons, moral justification for the great flood in Genesis, why some angels fell from heaven, and a prophecy for the thousand-year reign of the Messiah. Though it is not accepted as canon in Christian and Jewish traditions, it provides extra scholarship on canon occurrences and apocryphal traditions. Michael is not given an introduction by the Book of Enoch, implying that readers would already be familiar with him, and his legend may date back much farther. He is mentioned in the Book of Daniel, which is included in the Christian Old Testament and is one of the Jewish Talmudic writings. The Quran and Hadīth also acknowledge Michael as an archangel (often spelled Mika'il).

In the Christian Bible, Michael is explicitly mentioned in Jude 9, Daniel 7, and Revelation 12:7-12. This last passage is the most famous, and depicts Michael doing battle with the Devil and driving him out of heaven. As a result, he has very militaristic associations, often portrayed as the leader of the armies of God in the warfare between Heaven and Hell, good and evil. In the mediaeval and early modern world, people lived with these images and concepts in their everyday lives. Vivid depictions of the Last Judgement, or the end of the world, adorned church walls -- they make up a whole genre, called "doom paintings", and were often on the west wall of the church, which was most visible to the congregation. They sent powerful, unmistakable messages to those who could not read or understand the Latin service. In addition, many people lived with firsthand experiences with brutal, real world conflict; and the power of the church in law and society created overwhelming preoccupation with the afterlife. We have only to look to paintings like Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights of Hans Memling's The Last Judgement to see what nightmare fuel people truly believed in and feared. Michael was therefore an important protector figure in a serious battle against the forces of evil -- the OG Satanic Panic, 24/7.

A little bit about the other angels commemorated: Gabriel is responsible for announcing God's will to humanity, and communicates the birth of Jesus to Mary and of John the Baptist to her sister Elizabeth, respectively. Raphael is not mentioned in the Bible, but tradition identifies him as a healing angel who stirred the waters at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:2-4). Uriel is also not mentioned in the Bible, but is in texts recognised as apocryphal by the Roman Catholic Church, and is also a figure in folk Catholicism. He is usually depicted as a cherub, representing repentance and holding the keys to Hell. Jerahmeel is mentioned in texts recognised as apocryphal by the Anglican Communion, and serves as a gatekeeper to Heaven with St. Peter and guides souls on their journey to the afterlife. All around pretty metal stuff.

Michaelmas and its Traditions

As Michael served as a benevolent force against darkness and evil, his commemoration asked for protection in the cold, long winter nights, where Satan's powers were supposedly more powerful.

In mediaeval England, Michaelmas marked the start of a new agricultural year, when the harvest ended and people could start preparing for the coming winter. In England, Ireland, and Wales, it was one of the quarter days, or four days during which major legal business was settled. Contracts for would begin or expire, rents and taxes were collected, school terms would start, &c. Hiring fairs were held around Michaelmas for labourers and servants looking for work. On manors, a "reeve" or estate manager would be chosen from among the peasants. Following this custom, the Lord Mayor of London is still elected on Michaelmas; and some British and Irish law courts and universities use a "Michaelmas term" to denote an autumn session or semester.

Michaelmas earned the name "Goose Day" from the tradition of eating a roast goose on this holiday. The end of September and beginning of October are naturally when geese were ready for eating, and they were also common fare for celebrations in general. Geese prepared for this time of year were referred to as a stubble-goose or an embling or rucklety goose. Goose fairs proliferated up and down the country, selling geese and other food, as well as providing entertainment. (The Nottingham Goose Fair continues in this tradition, happening around October 3rd every year.) A likely apocryphal legend provides a fun reason behind this tradition: Queen Elizabeth I was eating a goose when she heard of the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588, and vowed to eat it for Michaelmas. Others followed suit, and thus goose-eating helped ensure financial security for the year to come. Geese were also a great way to bribe your landlord, as including one with your rent might gain you a little more favour. Another fun goose tidbit: if the breast bones of the goose are brown after roasting, the winter will be mild, but if they were white or of a slightly blue hue, the winter will be harsh.

Gathering blackberries after Michaelmas (old style October 10th) was deemed unlucky. Supposedly, when Michael cast Satan out of heaven, Satan landed in a blackberry bush and got tangled in its brambles. Cursing the bush, Satan either spit, stamped, scorched, or peed on it, or a combination of all of those things, making the fruit unfit to eat after that date. Blackberry pies, called Michaelmas pies, were often made to use up the last of the blackberry harvest. In Ireland, bad blackberries are also attributed to púca, a shape-shifting spirit that can bring both good and evil.

In parts of Scotland, particularly the Hebrides, the eldest daughter of the family baked Sruthan Mhìcheil, or St. Michael's bannock, on the eve of Michaelmas. Sruthan Mhìcheil is a scone-like bread or cake, consisting of equal parts barley, rye, and oats, and without using any metal implements. Some recipes are cooked in lamb skin. As the person making the Sruthan turns it on the fire, they utter a variant of this blessing over it: "Progeny and prosperity of family, Mystery of An Dagda, protection of Bride". There is also a Hebridean blessing which runs: "Là Fhéill Mìcheil nì sinn struthan, Gabhaidh sinn dheth gu cridheil cairdeil, Mar bu choir a bhith" or, in English, "On St Michael’s Day we will make a cake, we will partake of it in a joyful friendly manner, as is proper". Special Sruthans, made in memory of absent loved ones or those who have died, are blessed at Michaelmas mass and given to the poor.

Another Scottish tradition involves carrots, the last of which are supposed to be pulled up on Michaelmas day. Finding a two-pronged carrot is considered extra lucky! There's a Gaelic rhyme for this task, too, which accompanies the carrot pulling: "Torcan torrach, torrach, torrach, Sonas curran còrr orm, Michael mil a bhi dha m’chonuil, Bride gheal dha m’chonradh" or in English, "Cleft fruitful, fruitful, fruitful, Joy of carrots surpassing upon me, Michael the brave endowing me, Bride the fair be aiding me."

I found a good deal of Irish traditions relating to Michaelmas, varying region by region. One legend tells of a king who choked to death on a goose bone and was brought back to life by St. Patrick. In honour of the saint, he ordered goose to be eaten on Michaelmas. In parts of Ireland, geese were given to the poor, and in some regions slaughtered sheep were also thrown in with the donation. Many people took pilgrimages to holy wells associated with Michael to take a drink from the blessed waters. A ring would sometimes me placed in a Michaelmas pie, and the person to find it would be married soon.

Towns often implemented winter curfew on Michaelmas. The church bell would ring at 9pm, once for every day of the month that had passed, to remind everyone to get inside. Curfews usually lasted from Michaelmas (September 29th) to Shrove Tuesday or Lady Day (March 25th), another quarter day. Chertsey in Runnymeade, Surrey, still rings a curfew bell between these dates; their oldest church bell dates from 1380.

Michaelmas daisies, or asters, bloom around this time of year, one of the last flowers to bloom before the onset of winter. Some say they represent a final, hearty burst of light before the darkness and barrenness of winter, just like the celebration of Michaelmas. A rhyme says: "The Michaelmas Daisies, among dede weeds, / Bloom for St Michael’s valorous deeds. / And seems the last of flowers that stood, / Till the feast of St. Simon and St. Jude." (Sts. Simon and Jude is October 28th).

And of course, no feast day would be complete without a plethora of weather wisdom! Here are a few:

"If Michaelmas bring many acorns, Christmas will cover the fields with snow."

"If the ice is strong enough to bear a man before Michaelmas, it will not bear a goose afterwards." (see Martinmas, November 11th)

"So many days old the moon is on Michaelmas Day, so many floods after."

"If St. Michael bring thunder, rough weather will follow."

Thomas Tusser also advises to pick fruit after Michaelmas if you want it to last the winter.
