Wanna Know Something? (Mary Earps x Reader)
Tumblr media
Yoooooo, i posteddddd. I know, I haven't written anything in so long, my bad lol. Hopefully this makes up for it. Remember, any feedback good or bad is welcomed. Enjoy reading!
Word Count: 1.6k (wtfff idk how i did that ngl)
“Hey, good luck today,” you hear somebody whisper. Turning to look at the speaker you see Mary reaching out her fist towards you. You smile and bring her into a hug.
“Good luck querida,” (darling) you mumble into her ear. Mary places a soft and discreet onto your neck, your legs almost give out at the action. As you pull away you reach out to Leah who was ahead of both of you. She turns and gives a quick hug to you, her Arsenal teammate.
“Vamos Y/N,” Rafaelle says over her shoulder as the officials start to move forward. You quickly get back to your line and try to focus on the game ahead.
Mary had been your girlfriend for almost a year now. You were the starting goalkeeper for Arsenal and Brazil. Sometimes, you couldn’t believe that Mary loved you, she was so amazing, so funny, so kind, one of the best people you knew for sure. Now, you were playing against each other in the Finalissima. This was a big match. Brazil was hungry to prove that they could compete against top European teams and this was a perfect opportunity. When the national anthems start to play you feel a sense of pride grow inside of your chest. Here you were, in front of a packed Wembley Stadium, playing against your girlfriend for a trophy. It doesn’t get much better than that.
As you near the goal you’ll be protecting you do your pre-game traditions. Touch the left post first, then the right, then jump and touch the crossbar. After, you sprint to the edge of the 18-yard box, kneel, and say a quick prayer. Done. You mentally lock in for what you know will be a tough match.
At halftime, you’re frustrated. England had been controlling most of the ball, they had also gotten a few shots on target. You could do nothing more when Toone finished off a fantastic build-up by England in the twenty-third minute. All throughout Pia’s halftime talk you are planning a speech to the team. Just before you guys head back out, you stand in the middle of the locker room and start to speak,
“Listen, I know everyone out there is rooting against us, so let’s use that to our advantage. Let it fuel us, make us hungry to beat them. They came to see an England win, not a Brazil one. Let’s show them why we are Copa America champions!” This gets everybody fired up. You can sense the shift in the energy of the team, everyone is excited and motivated to prove themselves. The second half is a different story than the first. While England still controls most of the ball, your Brazilian team was creating more chances, being quicker on the counterattack, and finally starting to test Mary. As the game heads into stoppage time, you can feel your heart start to sink. You feel yourself start to lose hope. Then, out of nowhere, Mary bobbles the ball and Andressa jumps all over it, putting it in the back of the net. You scream, jumping up and down with excitement. Soon after that full-time is called. Taking a deep breath, you calm your nerves before the penalty shoot-out. Your goalkeeper coach reminds you of all of England’s penalty takers habits.
After giving your teammates fist bumps and high fives, you make your way towards Mary and the ref who are already waiting for you. The ref runs through all the penalty rules for you guys. When she finishes speaking and leaves the two of you alone, you turn to Mary and with a smirk reach your fist to her. She grins at you and moves to fist bump you, only for you to dodge it at the last second. She shoves you with a playful smile tugging at her lips. You laugh, before starting the walk to the goal.
England has the first penalty. You jump up and down on your goalline, doing jumping jacks trying to distract Stanway. As she takes her first step, you analyze her, deciding to dive to your right. It turns out to be the right decision, but you can’t quite get enough to push it out of the net. You groan as the ball ends up behind you. When Mary gets a hand on Adriana’s shot you hold your breath, only to release it as it rolls into the back of the net. When Ella Toone lines up to take the penalty you know where she is going. You dive to your left, reaching your hand out to block the ball. It bounces off your hand, and for a second you can’t believe it, you saved it. The ecstasy is short-lived however, as you watch the ball roll back towards the penalty spot your head smashes into something quite hard. The post. You black out immediately. Most of the fans groan at the missed penalty. Toone turns away and starts to make her way back to her team. Mary’s the first one to realize something is wrong when you don’t get back up right away. She runs over to you, turning you over to see your eyes closed and a massive gash on the side of your head. Panic overwhelms her body, she grabs a hold of your face trying to get you to wake up. Your Brazilian teammates rush over, all screaming for medics. Rafaelle reaches you and checks for a pulse. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief when she finds one. Some of your fellow Brazilians wince at the amount of blood coming out of your head.
“Come on baby, please wake up,” Mary begs to your limp body, “wake up for me please.”
The medics finally reach you, they wrap something around your head to try and stop the bleeding. Geyse takes your girlfriend’s arm and slowly moves her away from the situation. Mary feels tears start to sting her eyes as she watches the EMTs load you onto a stretcher and take you straight to an ambulance. Wembley breaks out in thunderous applause as you get taken away from the field. The backup goalie jogs onto the field while slipping on her gloves. Mary is conflicted, on one hand, she wants to go to the hospital with you and make sure you’re okay. On the other hand, she knows she can’t just bail and that she has to finish the rest of the shoot-out. She decides to stay on the field with the knowledge that she’s going to dedicate the last few penalties to you.
Mary saves two of the last three and lets out a warrior yell when Kelly sinks her last penalty. She’s so happy and proud that she almost forgets about your condition. Almost. When she sees Rafaelle talking to Leah with a solemn look on her face she rushes over eager to see if your best friend had heard anything about you.
“So?” Mary looks at her expectantly.
“She’s still out, but she’s stable. So far everything is okay.” Mary breathes a sigh of relief at the news.
“I’m gonna head there now,” the English goalkeeper decides, moving towards the locker rooms. Leah grabs her arm.
“We have to do the trophy lift,” her captain tells her.
“Leah, come on, can’t I just go see her?” Mary asks.
“You can go right after, but you should be there for the trophy lift, at least.” Mary nods, sighing. During the celebrations, Mary is just going through the motions. She tries to hurry up the process so she can go see you. Finally, Leah gives her the go-ahead and she rushes to the hospital. When she reaches the hospital reception she’s panting heavily,
“I’m here for Y/N Y/L/N,” she says in between heavy breaths. The receptionist nods and shows her to your room. Mary slowly enters, confused when she hears the TV on. Fully opening the door, she’s met with you grinning at her with your arms spread wide.
“Congratulations! Finalissima winners, that’s pretty cool!” You say brightly. You cock your head to one side when your girlfriend doesn’t respond instead just staring at you. “You okay?” She doesn’t answer, opting to hug you. The air gets knocked out of you, but you hug back.
“Oh my God, Y/N. Y-You were bleeding and w-weren’t moving or an-anything,” she chokes out, tears streaming down her face. You kiss the top of her head gently.
“Don’t worry querida. I’m right here, see?” You gently whisper to her, tilting her head up so that her eyes meet yours. “I’m okay.”
“You’re okay,” she nods looking like she’s trying to convince herself. You nod and wipe the tears off of her cheeks delicately. You scoot over and pat the space beside you. She hesitates for a second before giving in and getting into the hospital bed with you. You guys cuddle as you watch the Lionesses celebrations on the TV. She can tell you’re starting to doze off so she whispers into your ear,
“We would’ve won even if you were in the net.” You smirk slightly.
“In your dreams Earps. We all know I would have saved at least one of those.” She rolls her eyes at your antics and kisses the top of your head,
“Just go to sleep, love.”
“Wanna know something?” Mary gives you a questioning look, prompting you to continue. “Metal posts are really, really hard. I would not recommend ramming your head into them. You might not feel great for a bit after.”

The race of fairytales - Sakhir GP review
We have a tendency to see ourselves as the heroes in our life’s story. It’s only natural, after all: we can see things only through our own eyes, no matter how empathetic we are to other people’s struggles. And we always hope our life’s story will be like one of the fairytales we are told as children growing up. We want to be the hero that slays the dragon and saves the princess. This is how we see ourselves.
It never occurs to us that we might just be supporting characters in someone else’s fairytale.
In fairness to George Russell, anyone in the situation he found himself this weekend would have seen themselves at the centre of the story. After toiling at the back of the grid in one of the slowest cars in F1, the young Brit was thrust into the multiple world champions embrace, in what surely must have felt like a dream. And as the weekend progressed and he saw himself first fighting with Bottas for pole, and then comfortably leading the race, he could see that fairytale ending ahead of him: a maiden win on his debut for Mercedes.
It could not have occurred to him in that moment that this would, in the end, not be his fairytale, and he was just a member of the supporting cast in someone else’s dream weekend. We should have all seen it coming when he admitted he had to wear boots one size too small in order to fit in the car. After all, if the shoe didn’t fit, Russell could not be Cinderella.
In the end, it turned out to be a day - another one - for the man without a job for next year. Sergio Perez has a knack for snatching podiums when others fall apart around him. Like an opportunistic striker praying on any mistake by the defenders, he seemed to always be the guy to clinch an unexpected spot on the rostrum when the big teams couldn’t keep it together. With two thirds of the race done on Sunday, it looked like this would be the case again, as Verstappen had crashed on lap one, and Albon couldn’t match the pace of those ahead of him.
But then, the fairytale began. In a twist worthy of a Hollywood movie, it was the driver who replaced George Russell at Williams who set about changing the course of history and deny the 22-year-old his happy end. Jack Aitken crashed, the safety car came in and Mercedes screwed up big time in the pit lane. All of a sudden, Checo was no longer on course for a podium; he was leading the Grand Prix.
Russell, as any hero in any story, took this adversity as a challenge and set about righting this perceived wrong. He made mince meat of Bottas, Stroll and Ocon and started pushing hard in pursuit of the Mexican, who had built a cushy gap to those behind. But fate, taking the form of a puncture, denied us the final battle between the two heroes; and so it was that the man who was last on the first lap ended up first on the last lap.
You would be hard pressed to find any F1 fan begrudge Perez his maiden win, even amongst Russell supporters. The Mexican is one of the nicest people on the paddock, and has worked hard all his career in midfield cars to achieve an impressive trophy cabinet. For someone who never had a truly front-of-the-grid car, his results have always been above average. And now that, for once, he was given a truly competitive car, he has made the most of it. He will be best of the rest in the championship even after missing two races.
And he will be doing that after being ousted from the team that he helped save just a year and a half ago. Just before the Mugello weekend, he was told he wouldn’t be racing for them anymore. Many drivers would have been gutted by such news, but he refused to feel sorry for himself. That announcement marked a turning point for him, with results going onwards and upwards ever since.
With a little bit more luck, he would have been on the podium in the last four races. Even if the results didn’t always reflect his performance (that P7 in Portugal does not do him justice) he made clear on track that he deserved more. After overcoming one of the biggest adversities he could face - losing his dream job - he rose even stronger and fought back. Just like a hero in a fairytale.
Talking points * For a couple of the drivers, they must have felt they were living the opposite of a fairytale. Bottas, in particular, had a dreadful Sunday. Beaten by his young teammate off the line, he was not capable of matching his pace at any point and after the tyre mix-up start falling down the order. Even with older tyres, though, he should have been able to defend against much slower cars. This was a poor performance, and Russell’s incredible race only sheds light on how poor Bottas’ was. He must feel his place at Mercedes will be at risk, at least for 2022. The other driver with a reverse fairytale was Albon. Yes, he improved from P12 on the grid to P6 at the flag, but four of those places were due to crashes and the Mercedes shenanigans in the pit lane. Worse than that, Perez’ blitzing drive from the back exposed how little progress the Thai driver made through the race. The Mexican did exactly what Red Bull expects from their second driver: picking up the pieces when the Mercedes are not in contention. * George Russell might not have had the fairytale ending he was dreaming of, but he nevertheless made clear he is made of star stuff. He couldn’t have hoped for a better stake on a 2022 seat at Mercedes, and one has to wonder if Toto Wolff will have been secretly happy that he has made such a statement. After all, it might make what otherwise would be a very difficult decision much, much easier. * Russell might not have gotten his maiden podium, but there was another debutant there. Esteban Ocon didn’t have the most remarkable of races, but made the most of the opportunity. He couldn’t hold Perez or Russell behind, but did just enough to cling at the front, and when other frontrunners had problems, he was there to take advantage. It must have been a relief for him after such an inconsistent year, marked by multiple mechanical failures. It gives him a much needed confidence boost for 2021. * With the Frenchman, there have now been 13 different drivers on the rostrum, in just 16 races. And all it took was for one of the front three teams to have a bad car for the opportunities to open up. * Lance Stroll was also up there, but felt that, just like in Monza, P3 should have maybe been P1. He certainly put in the hard work, having done half of the race in a set of softs, when everybody else didn’t risk running more than 15 laps or so on similar tyres. His second stint, however, was not strong enough to compete with his teammate or even to get close to Ocon in what should be a slower car. The Canadian has shown some good pace at times but is still missing the killer instinct to turn these opportunities into wins. * Daniil Kvyat is definitely making the most of the (probably) last races of his F1 career. The Russian had another strong weekend, and although he admitted he could have finished higher than P7, he was still clear of his teammate in P11. A strong end of the season will go some way in helping him find a future outside of F1. * The rookies did ok. Aitken qualified pretty close to his teammate and was on course to finishing ahead of Raikkonnen when he had his crash, but still recovered to beat the other rookie. Fittipaldi was never close to matching Magnussen and didn’t have the race pace to compete with anyone, but for someone who hadn’t race in over a year, he did reasonably well. The Brazilian is sure of having another shot in Abu Dhabi, and it will be interesting to see if he can get closer to the rest of the field after his first outing this weekend.

Broken bridges part 2
Here we go for part 2. I think this turned out pretty well, you guys can tell me what I could do to make this better, and thanks to Kannra for her suggestions in this chapter.
During my time here at U.A., I somehow became everyone, go-to training instructor, at first it was Sofia, she wanted to be able to utilize my quirk to the fullest, so I let her in during my training sessions it was when I realized how hard I push myself, after the first set of fifty crunches, Sofia wanted to give up since I built up my stamina and durability when I was six, so I guess it’s become normal for me. I mean when we had our physical, I scored the top spot in almost every test except in the long jump and grip strength test. There was a pretty big margin between me and second place, Jodi.
One day, Misao asked me to train with me. I'm still feeling bad about what I did so training is the most I can do. I ask to do a little sparring session with him, no quirks, just plain fisticuffs, so I can gauge him and figure out where he stands
Misao is sitting at the bottom of the amateur level, his punches are slow and predictable, he has openings all over the place, pretty typical for most quirkies, (The name of people with quirks my mom came up with) if their quirk isn’t some form of strength enhancement they rarely bother with learning proper CQB and Misao is the same. He never really fights but instead stays on the defensive, blocking and dodging throughout the fight. If I was fighting anyone else I would crush them for attempting this, but since its Misao, I’m holding back a ton.
Since it’s him, I’m holding back a ton, to be honest, I could beat him very easily when he blocks by crushing his guard, but I don’t and instead have some fun.
After I had enough fun with Misao, I end the fight for his sake. I faint a punch, he falls for the bait, I spin behind, grab him and the both of us over with a German Suplex.
I get up and look at my work, the sight of Misao with his ass up in the air is too funny, I have to hold back laughing at his pain. I walk over to make sure he’s ok, he looks up at me through his legs to see me, shaking my head in disappointment, “S-so, how did I?” He asks, his charismatic charm still strong through the pain and the embarrassing position he’s in.
“You have a very high mountain to climb,” I reply and Misao’s body gives, falling down, that the final straw, I break down laughing. He’s going to be my greatest challenge to date, I’m fine with that, I love a good challenge.
At first, there was a major roadblock, I use Brazilian jiu-jitsu, a grappling style martial art, I could only teach Misao the basics, anything after that was going to be useless to him. So we spent a whole day looking online at martial arts to find something that would be suitable for him, he eventually chose Krav Maga, perfect for him since it’s a jack of all trade with the main focus being on self-defense. He could even apply it when he has a puppet.
Every weekend afterward, me and Misao have private training sessions together. When it came to training Misao’s body, that was easy, I wasn’t too tough on him since Misao is a long-range fighter, so I started off with light training. Somewhere down the line, we started to go out. (That’s another story I’ll save for later.)
The first few weeks were hell for Misao, it was basically me beating the shit out of him for like 6 hours with him trying his best to learn and live. He ended up being covered in bruises afterward, walking down the hall at school was embarrassing for me since everyone including our classmates mistook the bruises as hickeys and Misao had to correct them, I wanted to die since we weren’t dating at the time, it got worse when we started going out.
Misao was getting the hang of things, his instincts and reflexes were forming. During a session, me and Misao were sparring. He goes for a grab, I break away and retaliate with a lunging kick expecting him to dodge to the side, nope. He’s a bit too slow and I smash my foot into Misao’s gut, he’s down for the count and I pull away and Misao clutches his stomach and falls to a knee, I knocked the wind out of him like he was one of Chibi’s chew toys.
"I THOUGHT YOU'D DODGE THAT, ARE YOU FOR REAL?!" I yell, being so worried that I really hurt Misao that I’m not controlling the volume of my voice, shouting everything.
"Mm... how was I suppose to know... '' Misao wheezes.
"TELL ME ABOUT IT, I DIDN'T WANT IT TO TURN LIKE THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE!" I retort.
"Um... Cortney?"
"WHAT?!" I ask, voice still on full blast.
"You're shouting... like a lot," Misao responds making me realize what I’ve been doing.
"That's because I'm worried, sorry." I calm myself down and help Misao to our dorm then lay him down on the couch and make him some ginger tea to help his stomach.
Sometime later, we could no longer hold our sessions at the gym due to some things that happened and were forced to have them at my place instead. It wasn’t too bad but my sister, Lisa, kept a close eye on us.
When I told my family I was about Misao, they didn’t have the best impressions of him at the start, due to his woman-charmer vibe, but they quickly saw that he is very much in love with me and would even die to protect me. Except for Lisa, she is the one most opposed to us going out and has personally stated to his face that she doesn't like him, and shouldn’t be anywhere near me.
She has always been very protective of me, especially since she had to take care of me by herself most of the time, so at times she comes and watches over our training to make sure Misao doesn’t try anything funny. It’s not all bad since she can cover the faults with my training, after going overseas in America for 4 years and winning the UFC women’s championship belt, she’s gotten even better.
Actually, this brings me back to when I was a little girl, most normal kids beg for candy or toys, not me. I begged my sister and father to let me train with them, so I could become a great hero. I remember what caused me to beg to this day, Deku jumping into a fight to save a woman and her child from a villain on the news, that was when I knew I wanted to be a hero like him.
He was one of my biggest inspirations, hell, I even went so far as to mimic his wind pressure attacks by rewatching videos of his fights, they’re nowhere near as strong as his but I kept going at it until I had something I could be proud of. But sis will always be first for me since she was there to help me every step of way even when Mom and Dad couldn’t, such as being me food or water when I would push myself to my limit, or patch me up when I got into a fight at school and thanks to her, she helped me become the amazing fighter I am today.
During a spar, Misao actually manages to dodge my punch, then is able to pin me down on my back and hold me down, “Good job,” I say waiting for Misao to advance, however, he uses his quirk, which is illegal during spars, to bind my arms above my head.
“Uh?” I’m left a bit confused for a second during which Misao grabs my sides with his free hand, my sides are stupidly ticklish and he knows it. I try to break free but he presses on harder with his tickle attack, I’m left at his mercy due to our positions.
“Pleee-ease Misao,” I beg him to stop, I’m ridiculously ticklish, “We’re supposed to be training,” I remind him what we were doing, Misao stops his tickle assault allowing me a chance to breathe, unbind my arms and gets off from on top of me, I look away while crossing my arms angry at him for breaking the rules and to also hide my blushing face.
“Come on Cortney, you know I hate fighting, and I could never hurt such a pretty face.” He replies while stroking my cheek, he knows exactly what to say and do to make me melt like butter.
“Spoiled bastard,” I tell Misao and he responds by blowing a raspberry on my cheek, washing out any anger I may still have, “Stop that, it tickles.”
I can never be too mad at him since I forget to give myself breaks and he’s there to tell me to go easy.
Time goes on until one Misao receives a call from Lisa telling him to come to get something for me I left at our house, when he gets there Lisa grabs and drags him to our training spot before throwing
“What’s going on?” Misao asks from the very sudden invitation.
“Simple, break up with Cortney.” Lisa bluntly replies.
“Why?”
“Because Cortney shouldn’t be wasting her time with you, and I’ve watched you two, you constantly charm her and never take her training seriously.” She angrily answers with her evidence.
Misao gets up and brushes the dirt off himself, but Lisa interrupts him before he can say anything, “No talk, we’ll settle this with our fists,” She retorts raising up her fists and getting into position, Misao does the same seeing as Lisa won’t listen to him.
Misao waits for Lisa to take the first move, ready to counter, however, Lisa is right in front of him, driving her fist deep into Misao’s stomach and lifting him off the ground, “Even if I had a quirk, I wouldn’t need it to beat your ass.” Lisa whispers in Misao’s ear before flinging him at a nearby tree. He pushes himself back up to his feet where he’s stuck with a brutal kick to the chest, knocking out any wind he may have had left and pushes him to the ground.
When Misao tries to get up, Lisa shuts him with a swift kick to the side of the ribs also flipping Misao on his side and exposing his vulnerable stomach and kicks as hard as she can. Misao can only take it as the previous attacks left him reeling in pain.
Lisa strikes three times each harder and more brutal, the third strike causes Misao to vomit the contents of his stomach, she rests her arms behind her head and starts walking away seeing as Misao has had enough punishment, “Stay the FUCK away from Cortney.”
“S-s-selfish,” Misao croaks, Lisa turns around and sees Misao shaky trying to get up, she presses her foot on his back.
“What was that? Say that again?” Lisa viciously asks.
“You’re being selfish, what gives you any right to decide what’s right for Cortney?” Misao repeats, Lisa applies weight to her leg without any response.
“I’m protecting her from people like you, she worked her whole life up to this point, and I’m not letting you ruin this!” Lisa retorts, trying to press Misao into the floor but he’s fighting back.
“You say that, but have even given a thought about how Cortney would feel?” Misao counters, fighting against Lisa, “NO, you haven’t, you haven’t given her wellbeing the time of day! She’ll be divested if I went through with it, and that’ll cause more damage than I could ever do if I tried!” Misao fights up to his feet and knocks Lisa off balance and socks her in the face with all his might, she falls down and Misao is now the left one standing.
Lisa stares up at the sky, thinking about what Misao said, then covers her face with her hand, “You’re right!” she says still on the ground, “I was angry that I couldn’t be there to protect Cortney, and just attacked you with that anger for no reason. Sorry about that, it’s a really bad habit of mine.” She points out.
“It’s fine,” Misao says.
“I was blind, and have been a really bad big sister. Listen, you win, just promise me, you’ll make Cortney happy.” She asks.
“I will,” Misao promises, clutching his sides, which are probably broken.
Lisa gets up and puts an arm over her shoulder, “Sorry, let me patch you up, also don’t tell Cortney about this, ok?” Misao nods.
“Also, let me add, you still have to earn my respect.”
I eventually found out and was quite pissed off at Lisa for some time, I had her be Misao’s training dummy to make up for it.

Long (and great) interview with Alisson Becker - translated from Portuguese via /r/LiverpoolFC
Long (and great) interview with Alisson Becker - translated from Portuguese
Q: About the FIFA awards. What does it mean to be recognized by players and legends of the game?
A:My story doesn't differ much from the other players', started from nothing. I played for Internacional since I was 9, step by step, facing challenges that sometimes made me want to give up, but I always had great professionals and people behind me, helping me as a player and as a human - the most responsible for that are my parents and my brother; also my sister-in-law, who has always encouraged me while I was in the academy levels, always took care of me. Then later, my wife, obviously, after I became a professional, she has been my foundation and she's part of everything I achieved. My family, my daughter, I leave all my problems behind when I get home, they are always there to make me happy.
To be there in that stage in front of legends of the game, all I can say is that I'm honored. These trophies are very special, after all the hard work I've done, the criticism and the defeats fade away a bit and it's a honour to be presented these awards as a 26 year old, still young - and there's more to come.
Q:There's a viral picture on the internet of you, Dida and Julio Cesar together. How do you feel cementing your name as one of Brazil's greatests goalkeepers?
A:Those you named, alongside Cássio, Fábio, Clemer are very good goalkeepers and they also deserve to be recognized. I became the first Brazilian goalkeeper to be considered the best in the world and I believe those who have only played in Brazil may not get international recognition but they also deserve it. Dida and Julio Cesar also had outstanding seasons in their careers and to see their happy faces while I was there on the stage meant so much. Also Ederson and Ter Stegen - I felt like a winner already just to be nominated alongside them. Anyone of those names would be a fair winner - that makes the achievement even greater for me. I'm honored.
Q: How do these awards work? Do you have time to interact with other players while being in a room full of great players and legends? It must be very special.
It's very special indeed. Sometimes I felt like a kid looking at all those legends. I met Roberto Carlos, Gilberto Silva. I couldn't meet all the Brazilians who were there because the event is a bit of a turmoil - everyone wants to meet the greats and you're there so close but you feel like there's enough people surrounding them already. I saw Maldini and I wanted to go there and greet him, but couldn't. Also Pirlo, who were on stage. We feel like kids there, because those names made my childhood, they're all idols, not only the goalkeepers, but also the outfield players - which I was very familiar while playing Football Manager, FIFA and PES. To see them made everything even more of a honour for me.
Q: Klopp won as the best manager. Is it special for you to see all his work and also Liverpool being recognized in those awards? Also Van Dijk, who was nominated.
When you win the Champions League, it's obvious that some players will be recognized in the awards. I believe there should have been more Liverpool players in the best XI, but those who won also deserved. I was very happy for Klopp, not only for the award and for being a great manager, but also because he's a great person that everyone adores. You guys from the press know he's a simple man, very passionate about football and life. He showed his huge heart while announcing he joined the Common Goal charity on stage - to promote a social action that helps people - it shows great nobility. I'm very happy for him.
About Van Dijk, he certainly could've won it, but when you're up against Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, it's a bit unfair because people also take in consideration their whole careers and those two are amazing. I believe Messi has done enough to win it - the difference were the titles, Van Dijk won the CL, while Messi won the league and we didn't. Cristiano won a international title, I believe that's why he was among the finalists. He has merit.
For me, either Virgil or Messi would be the correct decision but I was hoping Van Dijk would win because of the player and the person he is. Just like the goalkeeper award, anyone of those would be a fair winner.
Q: How's your work with Jurgen Klopp? How has he helped you improve as an athlete?
A: Klopp, besides understanding football so much, he also knows how to deal with people in a way that I had never seen before - maybe also Tite is a bit like him in dealing with people.
He can communicate with everyone and that's a fundamental part of football. Not only talking, but also with gestures. Sometimes with a face gesture he can communicate more than with a couple of sentences. He's very expressive. My involvement with him is more outside the pitch, in the dressing room, he's very specific and the training sessions are very intense but also very clear, with a clear objective, which is what he thinks it's best for the upcoming game.
The fact that the team is so tight and we know each other so well also favours him. This is the value of our team. If you take a player out of our team, they are for certain going to play well in other teams, but he may not play the same way, because we created a clear style, we know where everyone is gonna be, we run together, we know how each one likes to receive the ball - that's also Klopp's merit, he formed this team and I came here last year and could be part of a winning season. That helped a lot, not only Jurgen but Also John and Jack the goalkeeper coaches.
Q: Talking about your development this past season, why do you think you fit in so well with Liverpool and the Premier League?
A: The decision-making is very important in the athletes' careers, specially when it comes to transfers. It was a delicate moment to leave Roma because I was playing very well, but I came to the conclusion I wouldn't improve much further there. We then made the decision to accept the transfer, also because the Premier League is a very attractive competition, for its competitiveness, quality, organization, clubs, history. It's basically like the Champions League, there are six big clubs to face, also other smaller, but very traditional clubs here in England, which is a beautiful spectacle, but also a very tough one.
I analysed everything with my staff and my agent before making any decision - the club's stability, the potential, the way the team plays, which fits my style, as I like playing with a high line, participating in the play. That's why it matched so well - me, Liverpool and the Premier League.
We haven't achieved what we wanted yet in the league, but this season we have the same chances as last season, it's up to us to seize the opportunities.
Q: Inter's Alisson, Roma's Alisson and Liverpool's Alisson. Do you see many differences?
A: No, not many. Obviously I'm more mature now. What's changed are the things outside football, I'm a family man now. Inside the pitch it's always been the same - my dedication, hard word have always been there. That's important for a high level player, to be there even in the periods when I'm not playing.
My first year at Roma wasn't easy, it was different from my arrival at Liverpool, as I was already well known in Europe, having had a great season the year before. From Inter to Roma, I suffered a bit, the first season I played less than I would've liked, but I improved a lot nonetheless. Today the difference is in my mind, but I still enjoy it as much as I did before, in the beginning. The responsibilities and expectations grew, but I'm also much more prepared and mature than at Inter.
Q:A lot of great things happened in your career last year, but also in your personal life, you had your second child. It was a full year for you.
A: Absolutely, children are a blessing, certainly even better than receiving trophies. I had the pleasure to be present at child-birth, Matteo came to bring even more happiness to our family. It was a very special year, we can feel the love of God in our family.
Q: Helena (his daughter) says your awards are for her.
A:When I go to these awards, I have to leave her at home and I always say that I'm going to collect an award for her, so she doesn't get upset. She loves it.
Q: How's your day-to-day here, with your wife. You travel a lot, and I suppose you like to enjoy your time at home with them.
A: Absolutely, Natalia [his wife] sometimes gets angry at me because when I have some days off, which is rare, she wants to travel, do something fun and I always prefer to stay at home, play with the kids, we have a house that is big enough for us to enjoy. We're very simple people, we don't need much to be happy, only the family around. The weather doesn't help much to go out but we always find a way to have fun and I try to be present with my daughter. These weeks I've been injured, I enjoyed being at home alongside her, we bonded even stronger than before. Now she cries when I leave home, but it's important for a child to feel loved and to be accompanied by their father. Sometimes life's too rushed and we don't pay much attention to our children, but in the future, they end up suffering because of our decisions - instead of reading a book or watching tv, it's better to play with them (while also taking care of ourselves). My wife and I try the best to have a good relationship and that hopefully will reflect to our children. Family means everything to us, family means everything to me. It's what's most precious in life - I dedicate everything to them.
Q: How's the injury? How's the anxiety to come back?
A: The anxiety is big right now. We are at the final stages, I'm doing the normal GK training. Next week I'll be with the team, but it takes a while to get back with the rhythm. It was a long process, a serious injury. The initial time was 4-6 weeks, then 6-8 and now the medics said 8-10. It's has been 7 weeks now and I feel confident, we have to take the time, I don't want to rush and not be 100%. If I feel well next week, I'll be very close to play already. There's also the Fifa dates which we'll use to train. There's a downside but also a good side, as I can prepare for the rest of the season, which is long.
Q:You're certainly following Liverpool. We're seeing a strong start, it seems that the team is even more mature than last year. How do you see the team's development and what do you think you can achieve this season?
A: We've done something hard which is to start the season playing high level, maybe not as high as the last games last season, but we won important games, like Chelsea away, which is fundamental for a team that wants to be champions. We achieve that with our way of play and consistency and that's the difference from a team that only plays for the result. We have our style and we're improving with the way we adapt to each match, and that's what we suffered a bit last year. Even if we had a winning season, we had things to improve and I believe we're achieving it and there's even more. That's what makes our team happy, we see that we can improve, and we see where we can go.
If they asked me at the beginning of last season if we were going to win the Champions League , I would say the same - I don't know, it depends on what we do inside the pitch. We're going to keep improving and we're in the right path to achieve big things.
Quick questions
Q:Who is your best mate at Liverpool?
A: My two best mates are Firmino and Fabinho. We're always together in training and also outside the ground. We try to unite our families so we can spend a lot of time together.
Q: Who's the leader among the players?
A: Henderson, he's the captain. He pushes the team when it's needed and even when it's not (laughs).
Q: Who's the shyest?
A: Fabinho.
Q: Who's the funniest?
A: Wijnaldum. Inside the dressing room he's very funny and playful with everyone.
Q: Who's the most talkative?
A: Robbo! For sure.
Q:Your English is very good then, if you understand his Scottish accent.
A: I said he's talkative, I didn't say I understand everything he says (laughs). Most things I don't.
Q: The most stylish?
A: Well, I like my style. But Bobby is the king of style.
Q: Who's the angriest?
A: I think the one who gets more irritated, with an angry face is Milner, for sure. He's a very serious guy.
Q: Define Jurgen Klopp in one word.
A: Passionate.
Q: A Klopp's speech that impressed you the most?
All his analysis and speeches are very good, he does it very well, also quickly. It motivates you so much when you need it. He can relieve the pressure through his speeches. One in particular that I'll remember forever was the day before the Barcelona game at home. He said something like: 'we have nothing to lose, so choose which story you want to tell your children and grandchildren'. This shows the belief he has on his work and his team.
Q: A game?
A: Barcelona at home (laughs).
Q: A save?
A:The save against Napoli in the Champions League, which was one of the most importants that season. I love saves that really help the team, doesn't matter if it's a beautiful or an ugly one.
Q: A definition of Liverpool, as a team, as a club, as the city you live.
A: It's a extremely positive place. There's a phrase that Pep Lijnders uses: 'our intensity is our indentity'. It's a very intense team inside the pitch and we can bring that intensity in our relationships, the day-to-day life and the trainings, which is very important. You can only be a winner if you prepare yourself to win.

TV Shows that I Watched in 2017
Tumblr media
A Series of Unfortunate Events (2 Episodes)
I Nearly forget that I watch this ! I Watched 2 episodes and then something happened to my computer, I don’t remember what ! but I lost interesting, and still with no interesting what so ever to continue watching.
Tumblr media
Samurai Jack (Season 5)
This wasn’t my favorite cartoon back in the day so I wasn’t expecting much out of it ,but oh man ! Turn out to be a really good ! a much more mature story line, I got a little down by the end, But I think it end really well ! The whole story of Jack dealing with his failure and his own wish for Death was pretty interesting, when all of that was solved it kinda drop the ball a little ! and Visually too, by the end the visual aspect of the show is gone ! I remember that some people are really worried about if Ashi and Jack are gonna end up together, well this is tumblr, this is what really important here !! I don’t know/care about the general opinion about the ending of the show, but I guess for other people if doesn’t go the way they want they will rage about it ! which is pretty stupid ! after the success of this revival, some other shows announced a revival,First Invader Zim and then Hey Arnold, The Arnold movie come out just recently,But Invader Zim is still with no date of release, that’s a bummer.
Tumblr media
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex (Season 1)
If we talk about fidelity to the material which was originated, this version of Ghost In the Shell is the more faithful adaption of the comic ! Mamoru Oshii movie was good, but It kinda goes really far from the manga, like this version got more of the political and crime drama that the comic had and it’s more appropriated to the show. The Major of this version is more like the Major of the comic, she have a pretty humorous personality, way more in the comic, The tachikomas are in here and the the whole section 5 appears in most episodes, even trough the main focus is on The Major,Batou and Ishikawa, most on him ! I guess because he’s the most Human Character in the team !
The Show is divide in a main line story,The Laughing Man case, and some others cases, that later on some of they get integrated into the main story, overall is pretty good, I can’t think of something bad about this show, everything is really well craft, expect to the Major Child Spare body, why the fuck she have that ? Why she use that ? That’s was really weird !! Other think that is good and deserve some credit is the dub, the English dub is really good, but only for the main characters, everyone else have a mediocre or bad dub, In fact it was really hard to find subs for this show !
Tumblr media
Doctor Who (Season 10)
This season was bad ! The First half of episodes are ok,but the second is just the worst ! and this season got the worst season Finale so far ! Let’s break this shit down !!
Let’s start with Bill, did she have a arc of a story in this show ?? for most of the time she was just there ! either something happen to her and the doctor have to save her or she was there to do something and say something, but outside of that, she doesn’t have a story ! in comparison to another character like Martha from Season 3,she did have a story, she began travailing with the Doctor, she kinda fall in love with him but he doesn’t love her, things happens and Martha and the doctor solve it ! and by then end she quits because the Doctor doesn’t love her and she get on her life,it’s kinda lame but at least it have some goods reasons, Bill story is like What ?? She travel with the doctor, die and becomes a cyberman, die again and become a liquid alien and then she goes way because the doctor is Dead and her Crush come to get her ?! Is that even a conclusion ? Nardole was even worse, he’s boring, he is a boring comic relief, he was pretty funny on the Christmas specials, but on this he’s like the Doctor’s mom ! and he also have nothing to do ! most of the episode he appear he doesn’t  do anything, So Why put him in there ??
The First half episodes are good, they are most involving the relationship between the Doctor and Bill, again Jamie Mathieson write a really good episode “Oxygen”probably the best episode of this season even trough I don’t think it was his best episode ! Extremys was also good, even trough it had some of the over the top stuff that Moffat like to put ! The Doctor meeting the Pope, The Doctor Fuck the pope, a female Pope ? for some reason they keep trying to make that Doctor have bang half of the universe ! I was expecting at some point Matt Smith say to Clara “hey Clara did I Tell you about when I Bang Joana D’arc ?” and also anything that happens in this episode got nothing to do with the next, Why the monks are running this specific scenario ?? Why they let they own Computer send a warning to the Doctor ??
The Other half of episode is when things start to fall apart, “the Pyramids at the end of World” still a solid episode even trough the most convenient thing happens at the end to let the story have a third part ! This Third part is a Failure, they had a really good premise “the Monks have brainwash humanity to believe they are they rulers and the Doctor is on they side” This could be a really good episode, but turns out to be bullshit, turns out the Doctor is faking he do a faking regeneration just to fuck with Bill, also they really exploit the fact that this is the last season of Capaldi and think they audience are a bunch of idiots that don’t know that will only happens in the last episode ! At least the scene with Michelle Gomez was good !  Mark Gatiss write another bad episode so fuck it,  The Eaters of Light was really good, after two really bad episodes it’s refreshing to have a episode with Doctor Who stuff on it !! and then The Season Finally comes in, World Enough and Time was pretty good, even trough I Got a big issue with The Doctor saying that he have a Crush on the Master when they are children, was that really Necessary ?? did Moffat had to do this so he could appeal the hearth of some horny teenager girl Out there ? did the Doctor really need to say “Oh he was my fundamental school crush”, Was that necessary,no ! Fuck You Steve !! But that’s not even the tip of the Iceberg ! The problems get worse on the last Episode !
The Doctor Falls his the lamest Season Finale so far !! This episode is a soap novel that doesn’t go anywhere !! and also they keep showing the Doctor Contenting his regeneration, Oh he can do that now ? yeah I Guess he can, and only now !! Why Bring John Simm back if you not gonna do anything with him ?? The Only thing that he do is Flirt with Gomez and then shoot her in the back, also that, You expect that Missy story will have some kinda of nice conclusion,Oh ! Missy is turning good ? she will have some kinda of redemption at the end, that since interesting, but Moffat have to end that in a lame way with he Master Shooting himself, Oh ! God Moffat ! get your dick out of our mouth !! that was terrible and we something even worse ! You have the lamest Deus Ex-Machina that I Ever seeing,so the Doctor is dead, cyberBill is about to die and then The Liquid alien girl appears at the end and just transform Bill into another liquid alien, Because she can do that of course !! if this chick could appear anytime to help she could appear sometime before all this shit happens,or even in some other episode where Bill was in danger and she could help, But any way, she get then make in the Tardis,How ??, and she just happens to know how to pilot the Tardis, because she is a Dues Ex-Machina !! and then Bill leaves the Tardis seeing “Yeah Doctor that was fun,But your Dead Now,and my Crush have come pick me up, so Bye !” and the she leaves, The doctor wake and say some embarrassing and unnecessary stuff and go outside the Tardis to Scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO in the snow, because he acting like a kid and does not want to regenerate. Man ! That was terrible ! Fuck You Steven Moffat !!
Tumblr media
American Gods (Season 1)
Adaptation of a book, written by Neil Gaiman,Book that I read in the beginning of the year and I Like reading it,maybe it was the last Book that read this year ! I don’t remember ! But anyway, I Liked this show overall, really competent adaption, just some things i Think Like: Anansi is not a elderly pervert man, that was the whole reasons I like that character, because he was grumpy and every line he insulted Shadow. Other thing I didn’t like was the among of gratuity sex scenes in the show, there is not that among of fucking in book, there is this scene where Bisquis Pussy vore this guy in the beginning and some other sex scene later, in the show they put some more of Bisquis eating people for no reason at all !! she also become a important character now, because in the book she appears and then she appears again and die !
Tumblr media
Michiko To Hatchin (22 Episodes)
Anime is not really my thing, But this year I Try somethings, this and Ghost In the shell are the ones that I Like ! I find this thanks to Tumblr,Yeah !! sometimes you can find good things in this place, It got my attention because of the premise, It happens in Brasil and some Brazilian guy made the sound track, that enough to get me to watch ! and I Like it, one thing I find weird is the Tone of the show, like it begins really cheeky and Funny and on the forth episodes things start to get more serious and then get less serious, and it keeps going like this into the end. The Director of this show Sayo Yamamoto, direct a show that made a huge success last year, specially here on tumblr, the anime about gay ice skating “Yuri on Ice” I kinda wanna watch that now, just because it was directed by her ! By The end of anime I Got that the message was “Girls shouldn’t be running after man that are fucking jackasses” which I think that is true and right !
Tumblr media
Ballroom & Youkoso (4 Episodes)
This was the first deception on trying to get on Modern anime ! It is this slice of life with a bunch of dull characters and dull humor, I didn’t like anything about it, the animation too was really dull, like everything in this show was dull for me ! The whole point that I thought it will be interesting was the dancing part ! but when that happens, it’s lifeless, like Finally the dull Protagonist get to Dance and he does a incredible move where he stand still !! don’t move, dance is all about moving and the first he does is not Move !! in the next episode the “I’m the best” character goes dance, furious because the dull protagonist got some fun not dancing on his place, and the you think is gonna be the most awesome thing into the next Dance contest, but there is only 10 seconds of actual dancing and the rest is just flashing images and the crowd cheering, I Get the impression that I should be doing the same but is so dull !! after this I really could care anymore !
Tumblr media
Preacher (Season 2)
I Enjoyed This Season a Lot more then the first,Like this season have a lot more of the fell of the comic into it then the first and it’s way more resolved in the adaptation part ! finally Jesse gonna search for god ! the they motivations are different, in the comic Jesse what to find God because pissed with him and the TV show he want to do that because he thinks that he is in some kind of holy mission ! The Humor get’s kinda predictable, Because everyone in the world of Preacher is really nasty and terrible person, so you know that something nasty is gonna happen ! One thing that I find strange was the whole Hitler good man thing, every time that happen is said “No Man! what are you doing !!” in times like this, that’s pretty dangerous !!
Tumblr media
Castlevania (Season 1)
Warren Ellis can do anything, he can write a story about dish washing and it gonna be the most awesome thing ever, it will probably involve a alien abduction or a secret organization plot to kill aliens or supernatural creatures ! any way this was another good show with marvelous quality, the only bummer it is so short, 4 episodes, and when it ends it end out of the no where like “that is, more next year” ! I Just wandering what’s gonna happen in the next season ! if Belmonth is gonna have to fight the monster of Frankenstein and mummy ?!
Psycho-Pass (20 Minutes)
Din’t even bother to get anything for this ! I Thought this would be a good show, the premise was good, the design of the characters look like shit ! But maybe the story would be good, but when I Finally watch, damn, that was terrible ! the first episode begins with the villan (I guess) wanking about himself and then it goes for some of the stupid anime shit that ever seen ! I Just could care ! after 20 minutes i Just stop the video and said no ! fuck this !!
Tumblr media
Twin Peaks (Season 1,2 and 3)
My favorite show of the year !! I Got interesting in it when I saw somethings here on Tumblr, and the I decide to Watch the First episode of the Third season, after watching some episodes I decide to go see the other 2 seasons (To see if anything that I saw it will make sense), that was like 36 episodes or something, for some reasons at the time I got nothing to do so had plenty of time of nothing to do ! I Enjoy most of it, it’s like a Soap Novel with bizarre characters and that managed to get me entreating to watch everything and see what was gonna happens with to does characters,You Know like any other show should be ! But It fells kinda flat after they solve the mystery of who killed Laura Palmer, but the whole thing with Window Earl was cool the actor that play him was really good ! I Just wonder how he moved a giant piece of Chest to that, hum that … that place and later they show like 5 people with a crane trying to move that thing from there !
I Also watched the two Movies,Fire Walk with me and The Missing pieces, The Movie are really different from the the TV show, like It doesn’t have space for comedy into it so the Movie is really depressing,You already know what is gonna happen, but even so !! after watching that I watched the Missing Pieces in a vain hope to see if anything that I saw later would make more sense ! Guess what, It Didn’t !! The Missing Pieces is all the scenes that didn’t make to the movie,it also have the scene of the meeting in the Convenience store and the scene with Phillip separated of which other, that for some reasons Lynch decide to put them together to make even less sense !! does that mean that it make sense now ! I Guess !?
Season 3 was incredible, if I was not terrified I would be laughing my ass off, but after 18 hours of pure surreal stuff did i Understand anything of it, mostly of it no, I saw some theories and it make me fells stupid ! Because there is this whole other thing happen and I didn’t even notice, “I’m a idiot for not noticing that early” I said to my self, and I saw some other theory about how this things that seen out of place and weird are in fact critics to state of America. When I finally saw the ending I was not expecting anything different, I wasn’t expecting to end on a good way, every season didn’t end with a happy ending, so this one should be the same ! What i find incredible was the number of people trying to figured out the meaning behind the ending in a number of way’s, but like It doesn’t matter if you watch all episodes at the same time, you not gonna find anything, the only way to figured out is to Interpreted everything you see and figured out how that work !! You have to think about you saw, But if can’t do that, what are doing watching this then ??
Tumblr media
Big Mouth (Season 1)
I Got interested in this after seeing the two teaser, the first one I laugh once, and the second, that was the ending of the second episode, sold me into it. I find it really funny at some parts and not funny at all in others, all that Thing with Jay and his Pillow I think that was the most surreal stuff that I have seen in years !! even more surreal then Twin Peaks. Maya Rudolph was The Hormone Monstress is the high point of this show, she give a lot Charm to the character. A Lot of people didn’t like this show because it was to offensive for then and too ugly !! But like, all this cartoon show for adults are all really ugly !! so like, so what ??
Tumblr media
Mindhunter (Season 1)
I Like a lot of crime investigative stuff, and like most of the show even through there is somethings that kinda seen like they go no where, all that stuff with the tickling, I Though it go to something bigger but it didn’t !! I Though that they will go back to the first case they reject and solve it, but I guess that would be a think for season two. I Like how they handle the arc of the Mindhunter, this whole thing of him being this ambitious agent that want to discovery a new method of investigation and becoming this self centre asshole that thinks that he his the fucking most ! Now that is a Grow of a Character !!
Tumblr media
American Vandal (Season 1)
The whole part of the humor of this show kinda feel flat for me, but the investigation stuff is way more engaging, I like how fluid the whole investigation process how they going finding out how everyone in this school have some dirt in then and how that later affect them ! in the end they come to a solution to get the asshole that was false accused set free, but later he get in jail again because he’s just a asshole, But they don’t solve the mystery,Who Draw the dicks ??  My Guess is that was the History teacher, the cool dude that bad mouth the other teacher, I think because the way he storm out of a scene they show in the last episode.
Tumblr media
Inuyashiki (3 Episodes)
I already have made fun of the two first episodes of this anime, I was reluctant to continue watching this, after the third episode I was done with this, basically what happen in it is a reminder that Bad guy is bad and good guy is good Nothing else happens, the characters does’t haven anything to them they have no charm or anything, they are this bland person with no expression, I guess that they faces never change, they have the same face every time !! I was really expecting something more out of this !! I Guess that I don’t have the age to watch this animes anymore,I can’t go back be a thirteen old again !!
Tumblr media
Genocyber (5 Episodes)
This is some old cult anime stuff, ultra violent and really nonsensical, and some how can be was better any of this other animes that I have watched, is there a lot of more effort put into it by the way,it was kinda fun to watch this and see the stuff happening and just shout to the screen “What ?? Why ?” it made me care that’s the important thing, also the soundtrack is good,is probably the best thing out of it !!
Tumblr media
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (Season 2)
Is kinda sad talk about this, since the show was cancelled, But even so,I don’t have enjoyed this season as more then the first one, It was funny and all,but the whole fantasy world don’t have got me, and this whole another plot of Dirk trying to be a normal Detective didn’t land well for me.I Think that the Third Season out have turn out to be great, also this thing of turning that Computer guy into the antagonist was kinda surprising and out the nowhere !! Also The Creator of the Show Max Landis was accused of Sexual harassment recently, Guess that’s way the show was cancelled !!
Tumblr media
The Young Pope (Season 1 ??)
From all the shows here, this is the one that got the best cinematography of them all !! really stunning photography, Jude Law give a incredible performance in this show,I Guess that i never seen anything else with him,But anyway he’s just awesome ! They gave him a bunch of huge speech to him, so there are some incredible long scene of Jude Law talking about how his character is awesome and can do anything ! also I was kinda confused watching, the initial speech that he give on his dream confused me when he was taking decision that are the opposite from early, I was thinking that he was just pretending to be a huge asshole when in fact he is a huge asshole !! but also sometimes not a total jackass and by the end he have some kind of redemption ! that I don’t understand if they want to make a Season 2 out of this, the whole story of Jude Law is done what more can you go far from this ? But if they wanna do it I’m Fine with this !
Tumblr media
Dark (Season 1)
My Second favorite show of the year, I Like everything about it,the story, the photography.the music, it’s really well put together, a lot people compared this to Stranger Things, and it’s nothing like it ! Stranger Things is this little light harder show that funny and colorful and Dark it’s just Depressing, It’s this show that nothing is gonna go well and it’s not go end in a happy way, The only problem that I got is that I don’t remember any of the names of the characters I Only know the name of the main kid with the yellow jacket that is Jonas. I’m looking forward to the next Season, the show leave a lot of question open, and I wanna know who is going to be our real protagonist !! Also The Director of this show Baran Bo Odar,is the director of one of the worst movies of this year called Sleepless, which I find weird since this show is so good.
Tumblr media
Stranger Things 2 (Why The Two ? Season 2)
Another Show That I don’t think it make it up for the last one, I not part of the cult of adoration of this serie, but I like it I Think there are good and fun to watch and not this Grater masterpiece that people make up to believe. I felt that the some of the same stuff that happened in the last season is happening again in this, Hysterical Mom is more Hysterical, let’s trash Winona Ryder House in some way ! Friends are not friends anymore and get back being friends !! the rest of it was just ok, they the asshole from the last season not be a asshole anymore, guess I Kinda like him now, which make four of the characters that I like in this show,Him,Dustin, the new Hellboy man and Eleven. I Guess that they could’t stretch this for one more Season, but they did !! What gonna happen in the next season ?! Did they gonna turn the asshole of this season into not a asshole and make him have a affair with the mom of the sour face kid ?! is Dustin gonna have more adventures with the non-asshole cool guy ?! Winona Ryder is goona stop being Hysterical ?! (probably no !) Also they kinda ruined Dustin Character in this season, they turning him into fat kid slop comic relief, I don’t remember him being like that In the last season ?!
Tumblr media
Punisher (Season 1)
The last Show that I watch this year, I enjoyed watching, even trough I Don’t think it had the among of shooting that I wanted to have ! From all this netflix super heroes show’s I only watched this,Jessica Jones and Daredevil,I Really don’t care about the rest, But This show is on pair with Jessica Jones in mine opinion.I don’t know much about The Punisher comics so can’t comment on anything of this part ! I Think that Jon Bernthal is great actor, he really give a good performance making the Punisher into this psycho maniac that want to kill people ! He have great Gutural Scream ! I saw video about Sicario and how Dennis Villanueve put this whole section of in the movie so he could Film Jon acting !! Like he is really good, I Think that he is the perfect Candidate to be a New rambo, If someone ever wanna do a new type of Rambo Movie he would be great there !! shooting people and screaming at the same time !

Chapter 2: We have a synopsis! (really?)
Tumblr media
Anything new you want to start in your life, demands even more energy. And, believe me, it’ll to demands even more. The difference later is that you know a little bit more where and when you need to put your energy harder.
The moment I started writing the project, we had just the intention of keeping us busy and artistic creative during a catastrophic moment in the humankind. Artists, definitely and specially the performative/dramatic ones, suffered a lot from all the social restrictions. Actors were incredibly impacted by all this prison. Actors need a stage, no exceptions.
Tumblr media
Without this possibility, we had to move ourselves to a “new” stage. The online stage. But our idea, at first, wasn’t to create a play to be performed on camera. We thought that we could create a series of videos where everyone in the group might perform. As I was studying cinematographic genres, I was really interested in the film diversity.
So, these were the three first drafts of plots that we might perform:
COMEDY- 8 actors who want to make a desktop movie and have no idea of how to do it. They wrote their own scripts – monologues – with one premiss: they have to be based on each other impressions. When they start the rehearsals, they feel themselves exposed through their scripts and conflicts installs.
DRAMA– A jury has to decide the destiny of two children in the middle of a couple divorce. One group supports the father and the other one the mother. As the discussions gets warmer and warmer, they lost the civility and start arguing not more about the case, but about each other’spolitical and social judgements.
THRILLER\MYSTERY - An indoor online funeral in the middle of the pandemia. 8 people, between parents and friends, share their stories about the person who is just dead. Throughout the relates, they start suspect that the person can be not the same. Can it be a strange?
I can’t remember exactly why did we like more of the third one. The third one looked like easier to share the roles between everyone. The moment they choose this one, I started working deeper on a plot. So, one more time, the moment I’m writing this diary (tired, lack of sleep, like many adults between 25 and 60), I can’t remember how I ended up on this project, that follows (update: 23/07):
Tumblr media
A good man is dead
START: A COFFIN… 8 PEOPLE RELATED TO THE DEAD… AN ONLINE FUNERAL… A STRANGE ULTIMATE STREAMING SERVICE OFFERED BY A VIDEO PRODUCTIONS COMPANY.
Synopsis
WinstonLumiére (George Orwels’ 1984)is gone. Nobody knows the reason, but most people think is related to the coronavirus outbreak. He was only 36 and afamous Englishphotographer who travelled around the world taking pictures of normal and famous people.
He was in love by the human nature and its variety, unpredictability and idiosyncrasies. With only 31, he won his first photography award, and this became a sequence of other ones in a row, year after year.
Besides, Winston was a journalist devoted to talk to strangers, create unusual friendships and trip into different and contrasting social levels. He went into the poorest one to the high stakes of society, in a charming, lovely and charismatic way. This exciting and free way of living allowed him to meet loads of people.
On the other side, it had its price. On this funeral, 8 people were invited to pay a tribute to him on a live recording. However, they have no idea who is behind of this invitation and which company is this.
The background story of each character is a story itself, in a particular way. I wanted to explore and use different personal, cultural and intellectual references in each one’s development and personality. Thereafter, as the project has been growing, obviously, I had to change some points on each one’s biographies, but, essentially, they remain the same so far.
The reason from most characters are Irish is that most of the cast met themselves in Dublin and are currently living there, though, afterwards, this territoriality was an unnecessary point.
Plotline:
Eight people are invited to pay a tribute in an online funeral to Winston, a young famous photographer, when they suspect this is a plan to get their personal informations.
Hiswife just discovered she istwo month pregnant. Simone Capitu (de Beauvoir, French, Capitu, the Brazilian Machado de Assis’ most famous character)met Winston when he was travelling to France.
They met during a contest in the middle of the Paris streets. He took pictures of her and then they started to date. He felt in love for her strong support to the feminist ideas, her passion for a cause, for human rights and against poverty.
She loved his adventure and wild way of living, his sensibility and always empathetic perception. She had no time to say about the pregnancy, regarding is unsure who the child father actually is.
She wonder if the father is Dorian (Gray), an Irish bohemian buskering singer that she met during a terrible performance of him at the Dublin’s Grafton Street. Dorian’sdream is to be a professional singer and make a living onthis. To get some money, he works calling people to eat in the restaurant where he works.
Dorian wants to be the father of Simone’s baby as a strategy to get public notoriety, but he is confused about the ethical problematic about that. At the end, he will regret of his pursuit and start studying on an arts school in order to improve his artistic skills, when finally he’ll figure out his path to the fame. (this subtext is still being developed – update: 23/07)
One of this mates was Jane(Baby Jane), a frustrated musical actress who feels miserable to be forced to have a meal in a popular restaurant. She was portrayed by Winston and feel sorry about his dead, evenshe complains about his preference for other famous actress that avoids to mention hername.
Jane is in love for Oscar (Wilde), who was portrayed by Winston as well. He is a young transgender bisexual male model, who is just starting his career at the fashion business. He uses his personal charm and sex appeal with the objective to go further into this industry, and has no reserve in talking openly about what he got used to refer as his “flexible” ethics.
Oscar is divided between the love of Jane and the love of Wendy (Torrance), a weirdo hotel director who promised him to get in touch with the most celebrated models agency in the world. Wendy uses a strange technology that allows him to watch inside all his guests room, in order to satisfy his voyeur desires and get personal details to theultra-secret company where he works to.
This corporation sells algorithms to other companies in order to manipulate populations consume and emotional trends and was Wendy who offered this “online funeral service” looking to get private informations.
One of Jack’s guest was Laura (Mulvey), a provocative Brazilian ex-politician, that moved to Europe after a disastrous career and started to get evolved withexcused business. She is hidden on the hotel, as she met him before his death, running from a dangerous mafia that was using her to get favours from its targets with lobby, extortions and similar crimes.
She is tired of having to "use her body" to manipulate men and reach what the mafia wants, but wants to use public notoriety to her self benefit. As the hotel is a phantasmagoric place, she got possessed by a spirit that is trying to dissuade Wendy from her connection to Winston’s businesses, but actually desires her sexually. Wendy will be murdered on the last episode and crime will be expose 225Flix and Cookies and Donuts into an ending crisis.
Tumblr media
In the middle of those impossible connections, there is Benjamin (Private Benjamin), simply the sister of Wiston, who has no idea what all those people are doing on this online funeral and why she accepted the strange invitation to do it, despite she knows her brother’s notoriety.
She is a school secretary and an auspicious scriptwriter with two children that dream to be Youtubers and live the adventures as his dead uncle used to live. She uses her epic imagination to distract them with adventures while complains about her husband absence and incapacity to be a father.
And last, but not least, we have HIM, a negationist, who clams to have dangerous informations about Winston. Slasher films addicted, he is a reactionary fanatic that wants to prove that Earth is flat, the History is wrong, and everyone is just manipulated by external and fantastic forces. He lives with his parents, is addicted to the Powerpuff Girls and uses this nickname because of the homonymous villain.
Is there and end to this “story”? The correct answer is: we don’t know. There are short stories directly or indirectly related to the same guy. We have an ending with all the characters singing together and showing the process of making a film this way. (about this, we changed, as the story, as any other, needs an end; so, even the end might not be the “final” end, is an end “for a while”_update: 23/07)
As you can see, the plot is mixed with different influences that don’t have a clear or logical connection. As I mentioned, I wanted to use the academic knowledge in a practical way. I wanted to “transform” the discussions and classes in an entertainment product. And that’s the result so far. References keep growing and changing and I'll explain better each one in the next chapters.
With this plot, at least, we had a story. Not “perfect”, but we had a starting point. Amateur or not, we could, again, TO ACT.

a short story (part five of five)
CHAPTER FIVE
nathan sat in his usual barstool, once again waiting for a girl who might never come around. he had been doing that for the past five months, just waiting. he knows he would've given up on anyone else, but there was something special about emilia. he felt something for her that he didn't feel for anyone else.
soon after arriving, he got lost in his thoughts. in his lap laid a purple rose he had brought every time he came here for the girl who didn't show up. with every thought of her, he became more and more miserable. he pushed his beer further from him.
"hey, bartender! i'm gonna need something a little stronger," he called. the bags under his eyes were prominent, one look at him could tell anyone that he hasn't been sleeping.
the bartender came over and stated, "one sazerac. if you need something even stronger, i'll get you a death in the afternoon."
"thanks, man. hey, has a girl named emilia come around here?" the man looks at nathan, confused. "uh, she has wavy, dark brown hair, and some pretty bright brown eyes," he continued. "real pretty. beautiful, actually."
the bartender still looked confused. "y'know what, i haven't seen her. i'll check with some of the other employees, see if they've talked to her or something."
"alright, thanks again," nathan replies. he takes a sip of his drink and stares blankly at the wall in front of him.
a few minutes later, an employee goes up to him and says, "hey, my coworker just told me about the girl you're looking for. black hair and brown eyes, right? was she mexican?"
"actually, she's brazilian," nathan mutters.
"what was that, sweetheart?" the employee asks.
"yeah, she's mexican. did you see her?" he grumbles.
"mhmm. she was here with her boyfriend a little bit ago. i gotta go tend to customers, later sweets," she says.
nathan watched her walk away with a look of bereft on his face. and for the next two hours, he drank the night away.
oh, how one simple word can cause so much pain.
emilia left tyler's apartment shortly before she decided she wanted to go to the dock. it was about one o'clock on a saturday morning, and she had parked her car along the side of the road. she followed the walking path, lit up by small lights stuck into the ground. the girl was hoping for the dock to be clear so that she could have some time to think.
when she arrived at the dock, her wish was not fulfilled, as there was someone laying face down on the dock, a half-empty bottle of jack daniel's sitting nearby. the head of a purple rose was floating in the whiskey. emilia picked up the pace to check if they were okay.
when she got close, she called out, "hello, are you okay?" no response. she lightly pushed on the person's shoulder to get them to flip over. who she saw, though, was not who she expected to see.
"emi?" nathan slurred. "what are you doing here?"
"oh my goodness, nathan, what happened to you?"
"what happened to me, what happened to you? where have you been?"
"i thought this was getting better, i thought you were getting better. why did you do this?"
"i-i'm sorry..." nathan let out a breath. "my life, it's a joke."
"no," emilia quickly responds. "no, don't say that. god has a plan for all of us, this is part of yours."
"i don't believe in any of that stuff," he drawls on, a small amount of drool coming from his mouth.
"i do. and i believed in you, i still do. i know that you can turn your life around, nathan."
"look at me, emi," he sobs, "why do i even try?"
"because you have so much to live for!"
"no! why do i even try to forget about you?"
emilia looked startled. "what-what do you mean? nathan, why would you want to forget about me?"
"because i am totally in love with you! and it's pathetic that i have to be totally drunk to admit that!" he exclaimed. "but you don't love me and you never will, because why would someone as smart and sweet and perfect as you love a guy who doesn't even have his life together and drinks away that fact? that'd be foolish!"
"well, i guess i'm a fool," emilia whispers.
"what did you say?" nathan blurts out.
"i guess i'm a fool," she says louder, her voice cracking on the last word.
"no, you're not, you're the smartest person i know! there's no one smarter than you," he slurs, "and you're nice and funny and you're beautiful, and i love it when you start humming a song out of instinct even though you hate it."
emilia's eyes welled with tears, her lower lip trembled with every word nathan said.
"i love it how some days you would only drink wine, and i love it when you would scold someone in spanish because you were afraid they would hear it in english," he hiccups. "i love the things about you that other people think are flaws and i hate that i do. i hate me. i hate you."
she didn't know what to say to that. instead of thinking too hard, she simply pleaded, "you have to stop drinking, nathan. it's bad for you."
"so what, i'm gonna die soon anyway," he mumbled.
"do you want me to leave? if so, i'm sorry but i'm not going anywhere."
"okay, go ahead and make my life a living hell..."
"is it so wrong for me to want to help you?" emilia snapped.
"don't you get it emilia? you're not helping me! you're hurting me! everything started getting worse the day we met!" nathan yells.
"what are you trying to say?" she asks, exasperated. "a minute ago you were going on about all these things you love about me and now," she lets out a breath, "now you're telling me how much you hate me and how i make your life horrible! what are you trying to say?!"
"how do you not know what i'm trying to say? god, you're so dense."
"and you're completely wasted! what are you trying to say?"
"i'm trying to tell you the truth!"
"well, i can't take the truth!"
"so what?"
"so, lie to me," she concludes. nathan held himself up with one arm and looked at her for a solid minute before he dared say a word.
"i want you to stay," he lied, and then flops back down onto the dock. and with that, a single tear falls down her cheek.
"alright. whatever you want."
"you don't give a damn about what i want."
"frankly, my dear, i do give a damn." she runs back to her car quickly and sits in it for at least an hour, completely breaking down.
oh, how one simple phrase can cause so much pain.
morning came and emilia hadn't slept. all night, she was packing her belongings. she was going to leave; she was going home to los alamos, new mexico. everything was ready to go by five a.m., and she was going to take the first chance she got to drop out of college. she wrote a note to elena telling her that she left for home and that she wasn't hurt in any physical way. and as she drove away from laramie, wyoming, her heart finally caught up with her head.
as she drove away, two young people had aching hearts.

Troubled companions
(This short story also contains my OC Alcina)
,,Well, what do you think her nature is?"
Hana sat across the table, facing slightly away from Lucio, all the while chewing her bubble gum. ,,Honestly? I dunno." The Brazilian answered and sighed. The two of them had been trying to figure out what of what nature their new friend was. It was difficult to say for sure however. She just showed signs for both an Alpha and an Omega! How were they supposed to find out when even wracking their brains did mot help in the slightest? Noticing the frustration on their faces, a certain cowboy joined Hana and Lucio at the table.
,,Whats with the long faces?"
Both the Korean and her companion turned to Jesse and started to explain what kept them so busy. After they were done, he just laughed. ,,Well, why dontcha just go ask 'er?" As innocent as this simple question just might have been, he was quickly shut down. ,,We can't do that! That would be intrusive. Plus, she might feel insulted." Hana sighed again. ,,She's right. Haven't you heard what she did to that Alpha that got a little to touchy on her?" Lucio added. Jesse briefly remembered the rumors he heard. Apparently, one of the Alphas here had been very annoying and flirty towards a certain Italian lady. Said lady snapped when the Alpha tried to touch her, sinking her right fist into his face, causing his nose to break and bleed. Almost every Alpha steered clear of her afterwards. The cowboy nodded. He for once sure did not want to find out what Alcina would be like when insulted.
A few minutes later and a certain British girl and a gorilla came along. Both noticing the long faces of their companions, they sat down and asked what was nothering them. After a few minutes of explaining, both Lena ans Winston joined in on the topic, thinking about the question at hand. But no matter how much they discussed, a solution did not came to mind.
Talking, Angela and Reinhardt strolled into the room, shortly followed by Phara and Symmetra. All four of them stopped talking at once as they saw their friends clearly troubled. Again, the incoming members joined and the situation was explained. Even Angela did not know the answer, for the ashen haired woman had not been to the infirmary for a major check up yet. And altough she said that maybe they did not need to know, she could not help but wonder too.
As they all sat there, barely exchanging words and theories, Zarya stepped into the room. After her, Ana and Jack. The situation was explained and like a virus the question spread itseld onto the other Overwatch members. Even Hanzo was not spared as he got into the hall, soon joining the other at the table. Lastly, even Genji, Zenyatta,Mei and Mimosa sat there. Everyone had their own theory, but neither of them could come up with answer. And altough they did not like admitting it, they could not help but thinking about it.
The room had a strange aura about it, the frustration clearly hanging in the air. Suddenly, the door opend one time, this time revealing the person in question. She quickly took notice of her grumpy comrades and sat across the table on the only empty chair still available. Questioningly, she looked around, before finally speaking up.
,,May I ask what causes all of you to look so very gloomy?"
Of course, no one answered, but instead exchanged sneaky glances, unsure of what to do. The room was again filled with silence and Alcina got worried. ,,Did anything worrying happen?" Her Italian accent came out a little more as she worried, making her temper even more apparent in the minds of the others.
Time seemed to get by painfully slow, until someone finally spoke up. ,,Your nature.." It was almost a whisper, but enough to turn shocked heads in her direction. Hana had spoken up, sheepishly looking away.
,,Excuse me?" Alcina seemed a little taken off guard. ,,We were wondering about your nature. I mean, you seem so much like an Alpha but you smell so sweet like only an Omega would and we did not dare ask you so-" She had hurried out the words but stopped when laughter filled the hall. Not hers, but Alcinas laughter. She laughed out loloud, gleefully. At some point it even seemes like tears prickled her eyes and she held her stomach, almost curling over.
Puzzled, everyone just stared at her. After a few more minutes and her laughter ebbed away, revealing a bright smile as she wiped tears from the corners of her eyes.
,,That was it? That was the reason you've been so akward around me the past few days? You had me worried! I thought something terrible had happened. You could have just asked, you know!"
A little bit embarassed, Hana spoke out again. ,,But after what happened last week with the Alhpa-" ,,That guy was an obnoxious wannabe casanova. However, I consider you to be my friends. You know me, I would never hurt my friends."
,,So... What's ya nature then?" This time Jesse was the one to talk.
,,I'm an omega." Alcina said and promptly everyone started talking. Some exchanged money for won or lost bets, others just were joyful because the had been right and others just seemed relieved for their question has been finally answered.
The rest of the evening was spent gleefully talking as all the Overwatch members sat around the table.
A rare sight, indeed, but a sweet one.

Example: Naraku and Kikyo; Alina and Darkling; Petyr and Catelyn; Dolores and William
In Love with the Mark
A man who works for some really big, bad guys. He may or not believe in their ideology; that is not the point. He is there for the money and he prides himself of his professionalism. For some reason, this organization working on the shadows have “business” to deal with this ordinary everyday woman. So he is hired to stalk, threaten, or even kill her. Turns out, Stalking is Love, and he develops feelings for his target. That doesn’t stop him from keeping up with the job, thought. He had to be undercover to get closer, so cases of Used to be Lovers/Friends are probably included. You will likely hear from a character In Love With the Mark the quote “It wasn’t personal.”
Example: Jack/Angela; Jackson/Lisa; Vincent/Anne; Tom/Lizzie (Jacob/Masha); Skye/Ward
The Queen and her Champion
Woman occupies traditionally feminine roles of power and the man is an example of masculinity for others. She uses clever words, social understanding and schemes. He is her sword and her armor, but nothing more. Because of their different stances, he is bound to be close to her he protects, but never with her.
Examples: Maly and Alina; Zelda and Link; Lancelot and Guinevere; Rhaenyra Targaryen and Criston Cole; Daenerys and Ser Jorah; Every Elizabeth Tudor romance, Queen Anne and Aramis; Lucrezia and Cesare; Cersei and Jaime.
Art Inspires Love
When character A realizes or falls (more) in love with character B after watching him dance, sing, or doing something artistic.
Examples: Frollo/Esmeralda, Christine/Erik, Hap/Prairie, Isaura/Leôncio, Anne/Vincent, Sandor/Sansa and Babydoll/Blue Jones.
Supernatural Connection
The characters have a psychic or physical connection. Maybe they can communicate through telepathy or can feel each other’s presence and emotions when they are nearby. There might be a spell connecting their hearts in a way one can only die when the other one does. Maybe they are twins. Whatever the reason, these characters are bonded in a way no one else could be.
Examples: Kylo x Rey, Nuada x Nuala, Darkling x Alina and Cersei x Jaime.
The Frollo Effect
A guy falls in love with a girl he is suppose to reject, repulse or dehumanize, and fights against it. By trying to suppress it, her converts love into hatred against her and himself, and probably punishes both hoping it will make the feeling go away. It does not work and the guy starts doing things he never thought he was capable of in order to deal with this unbearable need. He is usually proud, rational and very in control of himself until she comes along. Her initial dismissal as a suitor commonly starts out as social expectation - in which the characters are from divergent social segments and ideologically separated -, but it’s always a expectation the guy has over himself, regardless if anyone else imposes this on him.
Examples: Esmeralda x Frollo (Gypsy and priest), Amon x Helen (Jew and nazi), Isaura x Leôncio (Slave and master), Daisy x Ram (Sister and brother), William x Dolores (Host and guest) and Hap x Prairie (Subject and scientist)
Bonding undercover
When the bad guy pretends to be a normal person long enough to befriend the good girl and make her fall in love with him. This is usually how tragically two-sided vxh happens, because she gets to know his other side before the bad one gets in the way, but they can still have a happy ending because it also establishes they could have the base for a healthy relationship if only he could abandon his malicious quest. This only happens when the girl develops deeply romantic feelings for him; if it's only a crush or devilish attraction (Red Eye, The OA and Agents of SHIELD) than it doesn't count. She must be sobbing on the floor when this is done. May also involve an amnesia period in which the antagonist approaches the hero as an old friend or a lover.
Examples: Steerpike and Fuchsia, Christine and Erik, Kiara and Kovu, Elizabeth and Tom, Dracula and Vanessa
Generation Parallel
A love story doesn’t end up well. Years later another generation repeats the first one in a slightly different manner. Most of the time, the parallel between the two affairs means the characters from the first one have the chance to develop as we wished they would, and that their love might have grown roots under a different field. Sometimes it just means shit happens no matter the circumstances, and that people will make the same mistakes of their elderlies despite that they should have known better by now. If we are talking about the first generation’s offspring (Incest not necessarily included), it might mean their love is on their DNA and they would fall over and over again under different names and places. In any case, this trope is the romantic side of History Repeats Itself.
Very common theme in incest, because their birth requires a previous affair between their parents, but it only counts if it is a story on its own, full of ups and downs, and people talk about it. If it’s not mentioned or important to the plot, there is no point in calling it Generation Parallel.
Examples: Jaime and Cersei (Joana and Tywin), Arya and Gendry/Jon (Lyanna and Robert/Rhaegar), Catherine and Hareton (Cathy and Heathcliff), Abby and Henry (Wakefield and Sarah), Rey and Kylo (Padme and Anakin), Isaura and Leôncio (Almeida and Juliana), Leonardo e Marina (Pilar e Murilo).
Roaring Rampage of Romance
Love that starts a war and the main plot. Characters that destroy cities and galaxies because Love Made Them Evil, because they are trying to be with whom they love or to secure their safety and happiness. It might be on purpose, in which they have foreseen the consequences but choose to take them anyway as a means to an end, or it was accidental. There may be decades of conflict and the count of a hundred corpses, or maybe a famous massacre with a handful dead extras. Maybe a murderer is hunting down everyone on an Island so that he can be alone with his beloved. Anyway, innocent people that had nothing to do with them nor interfered with the couple’s happiness will suffer the collateral damage.
Common trope among royalty, since marrying or bearing the children of someone you were not supposed to could have disastrous consequences to the State, still people would do it for love.
If the character is causing the rampage in search for something else, like power, and to secure his beloved is an incidental bonus, it isn’t considered Roaring Rampage of Romance, unless he is doing it because Love Has Made Him Evil. Alina/Darkling and Nuada/Nuala, for instance, don’t fit this category.
Examples: Penny Dreadful, Inuyasha, ASoIaF (Rhaegar x Lyanna, Jaime x Cersei, Petyr x Catelyn), Harper’s Island, Westworld, Notre Dame de Paris, Wuthering Heights, The Phantom of the Opera, Bram Stroker’s Dracula, Apollo and Cassandra, Star Wars (Anakin and Padmé)
Taboo Tropes
Incest
Self-explanatory. Cousins will not be considered incest in here. I’m brazilian.
Subtrope: Decadent Aristocrats
Ho Yay
Homosexual couples
Age gap
Ships with age gap between then, 10 years at least. Supernatural/immortal beings won’t be taken into account unless the other part is a child or coming of age.
Wife Husbandry
A man adopts or temporarily takes care of a little girl. She may or not develop a precocious crush on him. Little girl grows up into a extraordinary and desirable woman. She had him on a pedestal all these years and has been saving herself for him. Man is distressed bc he can’t reconcile the image of the child he cherished as a father and the provoking woman she turned out to be. He mostly resists her advances, but they work that out by the end.
Example: Older!Mathilda/Leon AU, Nancy/Hartigan (Sin City), Veronica/William (Final Girl)
Development Tropes
End game ship
Is not everyday an OTP becomes end game
AU ship
A.k.a. “Canon? Who needs canon?” ships. OTPs that had a lot of potential but were ruined by canon. So either I ignore the end they were given, either some parts in the middle. Unlike Not Canon ships, these were meant to be romantically involved, but the way it was executed ruined it.
Secondary Interest ship
That One Scene ships are the ones with nothing shippable except for one or two scenes. Sometimes is not even canon and are more anti-recs than anything, but it’s still about villain x heroine, so it’s relevant to this blog.
Not canon
Word of God stayed silent and, according to my best judgment, the subtext was not enough. If something sexual or romantic happens between the characters but isn’t based on desire, such as the villain seducing the heroine for his advantage, it’s not canon.
Example: Scream (Billy/Sidney), Kim Possible (Kim/Shego), Mulan (Mulan x Shan Yu), World Without End (Carys x Edward), Sky High (Layla x Warren), Star Wars (Obi-Wan x Padmé), Richard III (Anne x Richard), Tesis (Angela x Bosco)

Power Sculpt review!
Let me preface this review by telling you these two astonishing things:
I sweat condensate like a beer at the lake on a scorching summer day during this workout.
I had to take a few breaks during this workout.
So, away we go!  Here is my review of Power Sculpt lovely people.
Total Time: 36 minutes
Equipment: none
Tumblr media
Warm-Up
The warm-up is two minutes of bouncing side to side, shoulder rolls (while bouncing), talking about how the moves are ‘seriously fun’ and challenging, jumping jacks, windmills to stretch the legs, hip rolls, and torso rotations.
Tumblr media
You have 9 rounds of work – each round is 3 minutes – 3 moves.  The moves get tougher but the time you spend doing them get shorter.  Oh boy, okay, 9 rounds.  I got this.
Round 1/9
Hip Drive Through
Lift your legs up, create a triangle by crossing one leg behind the other, and roll yourself up onto your knee.  You roll back and alternate legs.  You need to drive your hip forward when you get to the top.  Apparently this is taken from Brazilian Jujitsu which has a lot of floor moves – according to Joel at least.
I laughed the first time I saw it but eventually figured it out.  Squeeze your glutes at the top.  My daughter asked me what a glutes was and I told her ‘tooshy’.  She got it after that.
Tumblr media
Jumping Firefly
Push your weight back into your heels, push yourself forward and bring the knee to the outside elbow. Push yourself back and bring the other knee forward.  Keep your chest low, your core tight, and pretend you are Superman crawling through the night under barbed wire.
I appreciate this move without the push backwards.
Tumblr media
If you want to be a perfectionist:
Tumblr media
Half Monkey Circle To Guard
Get into a wide squat, reach hands to ground, circle your body to the other side, stand up slightly but stay in the squat and bring your open hands up into ‘guard’.  Reach down and circle around the other way.  Do this repetitively.
Tumblr media
Round 2/9
Switch Roundhouse Kick
Step back, step forward, load the arms to the back, curve the kick around the back and to the front and bring your arms across to ‘chop’.  Basically – hop kick.  You ‘have a whole minute to get it right’.  This is fun because I imagine kick a tree or someone that made me really upset.  Just kidding.  Or am I?
Look how unenthused my daughter looks:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ground to Fighter Stance
Start with stomach on the floor, push yourself up into your fighter stance, and get back down.  This is basically a burpee without the jump people.  Joel ‘has springs in his shoes’ like a crazy guy – so watching and admire that guy.  I would appreciate this move more if you did not let your stomach flop on the ground.
Tumblr media
My daughter told me to find the springs in my shoes.  I told her to go clean.
Tumblr media
Low Stance Switch
Get in a low squat stance, keep the legs loaded, jump your feet in and out as you rotate left to right. Your legs will start to burn – get lower if they do not.
Tumblr media
Take your break - Joel says ‘the water works just got turned on’.  Fair enough - my heart rate is up.
Round 3/9
Ginga Hop
Get in a lunge position, arms to the side, jump side to side and land in the opposite lunge.  This is a 60 second move so they tell you to slow down. Focus on your form here - keep the weight in the front leg heel, chest up and core tight.
Tumblr media
Alternating Clinch Knees
Reach your hands up into your clinch, pull your knee up, hips drive through and bring your hands down to your hips.  Alternate sides and start doing the Running Man.  Remember to lean back and keep the core tight.
Tumblr media
Triple Alligator Push-Up
Well this sounds lovely. Stagger your hands and feet, do three push-ups, alternate and jump your hands and legs so you can do the other side for three push-ups.  Repeat this by alternating sides every three push-ups.
Tumblr media
Awesome guys.  This is simple.  No - it’s not.  I eventually curled into a ball for a few seconds and ended up modifying them.
Tumblr media
Round 4/9
Roll Jumps
In your dominant fight stance, roll back and jump, roll forward and jump, continue to roll and jump.  Keep the chest up and land softly.
Tumblr media
Plank Skaters
Get in a high plank on your hands, step one foot over the other bent leg, and tap to the diagonal, alternate sides.  Keep your core tight, back flat, and eyes forward.  Do not screw up your spine more than this program will do for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Half Superman Push-Up
This is a push-up with an alternate arm and leg raise at the top.  If you raise the wrong arm or leg you will know because you will face plant. Continue to do these push-ups alternating sides.  If it hurts more than it works - modify.  Good luck to you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Round 5/9
You start over from the top my friends!  Yay oh yay!
Hip Drive Through
Jumping Firefly
Half Monkey Circle to Guard
Round 6/9
Switch Roundhouse Kick
Ground to Fighter Stance
Low Stance Switch
Round 7/9
Ginga Hop
Alternating Clinch Knees
Triple Alligator Push-Up
Round 8/9
Roll Jumps
Plank Skaters
Half Superman Push-Up
Round 9/9
‘Oh here we go!’  This is your last round and it is a ‘burnout round’ of three moves as Joel calls it.  Then you can ‘take a shower’.  I chuckled.  That’s the plan Joel.
R Reverse Lunge, Clinch Knee
Reverse lunge, clasp your hands together in front of you and pull them into your knee as you drive the knee up.  Repeat this until they show you the next move.
Tumblr media
Jericho gets excited and decides to add a pop at the top.  Joel thinks that is just fantastic.
Tumblr media
Push-Up, Leg Check
This is a push up with a knee to each elbow and repeat.  This is hilarious - I was on my knees doing these.  Sweat was in my eyeballs and my daughter was tying a jump rope around me and saying ‘ew your back is sweaty’.
Tumblr media
Guarded Squat, Squat Jump
Do a squat, squat again and jump up out of it.  Make sure you come back into the squat when you land.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To make things harder - place your child on your shoulders:
Tumblr media
Cooldown
This is about two minutes of stretching including a standing hip flexor stretch with an arm across the body for a shoulder stretch, quad stretch, hamstring stretch, chest opener, and an upper back stretch.
WHY IS THAT GIRL IN THE BACK NOT SWEATING?  Who are these people?  Are they working out in a 30 degree room?  Why am I drenched and they are not?
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts:
This workout was the most difficult in Core De Force that I have done yet.  It could have been that I was tired and was low on energy this morning but I did take a few breather breaks.  I also modified some of these moves to my knees.
I burned around 350 calories in 36 minutes which is pretty good if that is what you are interested in.
Tumblr media
My daughter and I had Supergirl shirts on so we had to take a flying photo:
Tumblr media
Give it a shot - try your hardest - it only lasts 36 minutes.  You will be happy you did.

BEST MOVIES OF 2016
Aquarius
Tumblr media
We ascribe a lot of meaning into the personal possessions we collect and the places we live over the years. That seems like it might be a tough concept to convey in a cinematically compelling way, but director Kleber Mendonca Filho pulls it off with his latest movie. While his previous film Neighboring Sounds took a broader view of a Brazilian neighborhood, Aquarius focuses on a single woman and her longtime apartment, creating a 145-minute epic and political parable out of it. And it features the performance of a lifetime for actress Sonia Braga as that woman Clara.
Arrival
Tumblr media
For reasons that are easy enough to understand if you’re familiar with both films’ plots, Interstellar is the Christopher Nolan film most people associate with Arrival. But really it’s closer to Memento in that both are ingeniously structured films built to surprise and pack an emotional wallop in its ending. It’s guided by everything from maybe Amy Adams’ best turn to Denis Villeneuve’s assured direction to its capable production design and score. And it, along with the upcoming Blade Runner 2049 and Dune remake, suggest Villeneuve may be our next great science-fiction filmmaker. We’ve come a long way from the dopey giant spider of Enemy.
Green Room
Tumblr media
As a lover of both punk music and genre films, Green Room is a brilliant combination of both. It gets punks better than nearly any other movie — how they’re less likely to be spiky-haired Sid Vicious types than relatively mild-mannered folks (including Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat and the late, great Anton Yelchin) concerned about charging their phones, finding gas for the car and getting to the next terrible gig. Then it takes the worst possible one in an isolated neo-Nazi venue and devises an expertly claustrophobic scenario out of it. In a banner year for close-quarters thrillers (see also: Don’t Breathe, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Hush), this one stands tall.
The Handmaiden
Tumblr media
Speaking of expertly crafted genre films, there’s the latest and greatest from Oldboy director Park Chan-Wook. Reimagining Patricia Highsmith’s Victorian-era novel Fingersmith, The Handmaiden lets the filmmaker play with a formal dress period setting and formal chops anyone could appreciate. But there’s also the lurid details of his previous work, including explicit lesbian sex scenes, sadistic behavior and some unsavory actions involving a wooden puppet and bells. The result is the kind of combination of high art and the low-minded that we don’t usually get on screen outside of Brian De Palma and Paul Verhoeven.
Manchester by the Sea
Tumblr media
Manchester by the Sea is a portrait of death and grief that’s so devastating at times it can feel nearly unbearable. It’s also one of the funniest films of the year, in ways that often directly connect to the former. It’s about the ways the world can be so cosmically cruel you can’t do anything but laugh bitterly; your dead brother is in a freezer, you have a huge new responsibility to take on when you’re a wreck, the goddamn stretcher won’t even fit into the ambulance. That’s an incredibly tough emotional high-wire act to pull off, but thankfully this has the singular talent of Kenneth Lonergan behind it, as well as unforgettable performances by Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams.
Moonlight
Tumblr media
When I called Carol the best American Wong Kar-Wai film last year, perhaps I spoke too soon. The gorgeous third act of Barry Jenkins’ sophomore feature Moonlight, along with Carol and the Lily Gladstone/Kristen Stewart segment of Certain Women, seems to suggest that diner scenes are the best cinematic settings for romantic longing. Yet Moonlight also has much to say about race, sexuality, family, even Florida. Its ability to successfully span all of this subject matter over three different time periods makes it one of the most skillful cinematic feats of the year.
O.J.: Made in America
Tumblr media
Not only did we get two films about Sarasota newscaster Christine Chubbuck this year, we got two sprawling epics about O.J. Simpson. One could quibble about whether O.J.: Made in America should be considered television or cinema — it was primarily viewed as a five-part event on ESPN, to be fair — but I’d argue it’s a film whose eight-hour running length gives it a scope few documentaries can compete with. In Simpson’s history, it encompasses race, gender, fame, the judicial system and more. By the time it gets to its truly pathetic final hour, it convincingly makes the case his life story is one of America’s greatest tragedies.
Paterson
Tumblr media
In a year where “the working-class” and “the elite” were endlessly, needlessly pitted against each other, this lovely story of a bus driver who also writes poetry begs the question why. It’s also gently, nonchalantly inclusive in its diverse cast of characters in a way that feels like a salve in these turbulent times. It’s gripping even as its plot revolves around a normal guy’s work week and a dramatic climax that hinges on a misbehaving dog. Jim Jarmusch has long been one of our best filmmakers; this and Only Lovers Left Alive suggest he may be getting even better with time.
Toni Erdmann
Tumblr media
A prankster dad who sports fake dentures, a wig and an obviously false alias to get closer to his workaholic daughter has all the trappings of an obnoxiously broad comedy. Yet in the capable hands of Everyone Else’s Maren Ade, it becomes one of the best, most idiosyncratic films of the year. It’s a showcase for some wonderfully absurdist comedic set pieces (naked party! “The Greatest Love of All”!), a cutting corporate satire and a genuinely touching family drama. Hiring Jack Nicholson and Kristen Wiig for the American remake isn’t a bad start, but it has its work set out to achieve something this singular.
The Witch
Tumblr media
The Witch hasn’t made a huge number of end-of-year list appearances, perhaps because it’s been one year since its theatrical release and two years since its Sundance premiere, perhaps because of the seemingly growing backlash against “indie horror.” No matter: it’s one of the best films of 2016, indie, horror or otherwise. The most memorable moments may come in the unnerving final act, as things truly get hellish. Yet arguably even more impressive is how compelling its slow-burn build is, aided by debut filmmaker Robert Eggers’ assured direction and the convincing Puritan period details.
Honorable mentions: 20th Century Women, Cameraperson, Certain Women, Christine, Elle, Hell or High Water, Indignation, Love & Friendship, The Mermaid, Microbe & Gasoline, My Golden Days, The Nice Guys, Right Now, Wrong Then, Silence
Still haven’t seen: I Am Not Your Negro, The Red Turtle, The Salesman, Things to Come, Tower

The Living WWE Legend Ric Flair - He Is Wrestling
When we gaze over the winners of this previous Money in the Bank matches in WWE over the previous 3 decades, you will notice that all of them neglected to secure a place in the primary event. The three wrestlers that have won cash in the bank in the previous 3 years are CM Punk, CM Punk back, and now Jack Swagger.
The issue with WWE's new notion is that they allow a wrestler who doesn't have enough credibility yet, to win the Money in the Bank match. What I mean is that neither Punk nor Swagger were constructed properly prior to their big wins. When they win, the audience doesn't care and the fact that they were even world champions at one point gradually dies out.
The first two winners of this match, Edge and RVD were properly built up before their triumph. To put it differently, they did possess the correct credibility that a wrestler needs to become a main event wrestler. And the two of them did become primary event wrestlers following their triumph. Mr. Kennedy was also treading the proper path, however, he was released by WWE within an episode.
WWE can easily turn this around by just putting in more effort in building the wrestlers before they really acquire the briefcase. This season at Wrestlemania 26, the real winner of the Money in the Bank match should've become Christian, or Kofi Kingston. Both of these had the suitable building required.
I realise that WWE is simply making these wrestlers win those games in order to increase the surprise speed of the fans. But in the process, they're ruining these wrestler's future principal event spots. When a wrestler's first effort in the primary event is messed up, then it's really hard to get WWE management to make the fans accept the wrestler in the main event again.
This situation can easily be turned around in case the current WWE management would take off their idle caps, and put additional effort into making future principal event wrestlers. Hopefully, Vince realizes soon that the Cash in the Bank concept is getting ruined, and determines to do something about it himself.
Ahead of Inoki's rise to fame, wrestling in Japan was little known outside of Japan. Inoki showcased his abilities all over the world for a number of decades, and in doing this he made audiences in America, as well as several different countries around the world, take note of wrestling in Japan. Upon retiring as a supeurstar, Inoki has stayed in the wrestling industry, as a wrestling promotor, and Inoki has revealed himself to be a man that has made a huge difference to professional wrestling.
Inoki's first sport was actually not wrestling, and instead he started his sporting career as a baseball player. This was short lived, and by age 17, Inoki had a position at the Japan Wrestling Association, where he'd learn the trade from which he would move onto create a legacy. In the time he had been the protege of Rikidozan, who perished due to stabbing whilst in America. This left Inoki alone, and up till 1966, he fought in the shadow of this larger, more powerful superstar, Giant Baba.
DID YOU KNOW? Antonio Inoki won the regional Brazilian championships in Discus and Javelin, and then the All literary championships in both Shot Put and Discus?
Tumblr media
Inoki subsequently went on to create Tokyo Pro Wrestling, which was Inoki's first preference at being the surface of a provider. During this period of time that he gained much of his experience. Although this business was not moving ahead, other companies now became conscious of exactly 30 WWE Wrestlers Who Died what Antonio Inoki could provide to their businesses, and due to the financial troubles in TPW, the company folded only a year after Inoki had started to lead them. From here he returned to the Japan Wrestling Association, where he'd started his wrestling career seven years earlier.
It was during his second stint in the JWA that Inoki first faced a superstar who had been held with high esteem by fans in America, in the shape of a true wrestling legend, Bruno Sammartino. He was now tagging with Giant Baba, and through a tag match in which Bruno Sammartino had been involved, Sammartino asserts that Inoki attempted to "shoot" on him during a match, which means that Inoki was landing actual strikes on Sammartino. Sammartino responded by beating Inoki, leading to Inoki walking out to the game, clearly displeased with the response from the then world champion. But at this stage in his profession, Inoki was still learning a great deal about the company, and he would start to become recognized by wrestling fans from 1972, when after being chased by JWA, he went onto create New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Whilst in NJPW, Inoki ended Bob Backlund's reign as WWF Champion, but this reign isn't recognised. Under contentious conditions, Backlund regained the name the next day. The championship belt has been provided back to Inoki, but he refused the title along with the record books show Backlund's reign lasted from 1978-83, in spite of the fact that he lost the championship to Inoki, along with the championship was vacant for twelve months. Inoki has turned into a name being said all over the world, and his martial arts career was taking off simultaneous to a similar taking off of his wrestling career.
Tumblr media
DID YOU KNOW? Antonio Inoki and Ric Flair battled in North Korea in front of a presence of 170,000 fans, together with Inoki being victorious over the "Nature Boy".
Inoki started his martial arts career by squaring off from Willem Ruska, the Olympic judo champion in the Netherlands. With this event, Inoki was put through physical torture during this match, almost falling victim into a entry defeat on several occasions, as Ruska persistently secured on armbars and sleeper hold, but it had been Inoki's resilience that won the "World's Top Martial Artist Deciding Match", as a result of TKO following three consecutive back suplexes.
It was then time for the biggest and most anticipated match in the history of mixed martial arts, as Antonio Inoki went head-to-head against world champion boxer of the time, Muhammad Ali. The game turned out to be an anti-climax, as Ali's camp enforced numerous rules on Inoki, that the Japanese wrestler was confined to performing slipping kicks for the whole game, and spent almost the whole fight on his spine, as he knew that the rules imposed on this game meant that Ali couldn't throw a punch to Inoki whilst Inoki was down. Inoki was three points up in the final bell, but had all three eliminated due to being penalised. Ali was hospitalized after the struggle, and Inoki was left at an multi-million yen debt, and so was made to continue fighting mixed martial arts matches to repay it.
DID YOU KNOW? Muhammad Ali reportedly saw Inoki training because of their match, and asked "OK, so when do we perform the rehearsal?" And after Inoki responded "No, no. This is not an exhibition. It's a real fight!" Ali subsequently proceeded to enforce rules saying that Inoki couldn't handle or throw Ali, and could just kick him if one of Inoki's knees was in contact with the mat.
Inoki fought twenty MMA fights in total, against top opponents in all sorts of fighting. He fought with the Olympic judo champion, the boxing world champion, in addition to the guy that took the name from Ali, being Leon Spinks. He also took on Andre the Giant, who maintained that Inoki did not represent wrestling well during MMA fights. Inoki responded by fighting Andre, and also back suplexing that the behemoth before winning by TKO. Inoki only had one loss in the end of the MMA career, to Shota Chochishvili, also Inoki put the record straight a month after by beating Shota by entry. Antonio Inoki's MMA listing in the conclusion of his career is 16 wins (9 KO, 5 submissions, 2 pins), 1 reduction (1 KO), 3 draws.
Tumblr media
Inoki has since sold his 51.5 percent discuss in NJPW to Yuke's, also has launched his third wrestling firm of his career (Inoki Genome Federation). Inoki began trading talent together with TNA, together with superstars such as Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar holding the main championship belt of the new, the IWGP title. Inoki was also included in the WWE Hall Of Fame Class Of 2010, which makes him the first Japanese wrestler to be inducted.
Inoki has been in charge of putting Japanese wrestling on the map, in addition to kick-starting mixed martial arts, which today has a larger fanbase than ever. Being inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame is merely a little testament, into the huge mark that Inoki has abandoned on the wrestling industry. I've been James D, and you have been reading about the career of the man responsible for New Japan
Pro Wrestling, and Enormous evolutions in Japanese wrestling and MMA.

Throughout the Attitude Era of the WWF from the 90's, it was always going to be problematic for a young celebrity to burst on the scene and make a name for his or her But that's exactly what Andrew "Test" Martin failed, which was down to his amazing athletic body, coupled with his ability to make his presence felt when he was connecting with the fans. Martin captured the attention of WWF management, and it was from there that his livelihood became phenomenally huge, with fans from all over the world realising his gloomy and tragic passing in 2009.
During the 90's, Test met up with Bret "The Hitman" Hart and it was from here that he made the decision to start training to join the WWF. With Bret Hart just recently becoming a casualty of the Montreal Screwjob at this point, it appeared that he was eager to get his own protege, in the form of Andrew Martin, performing at the business that he had been headlining PPV's for, within the last decade. As well as from Hart, Martin also had help in creating his own wrestling skills from Dory Funk Jr., who also trained superstars like Edge, Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle, who were also breaking through in the exact same time as Evaluation.
Test made his debut as a bodyguard, but soon after that he tasked with the WWF Champion at the time, being The Rock.
This was a narrative that got Martin noticed instantly, and unlike the Hardy Boyz who came through the ranks at a similar time, Test was becoming a household name overnight. This showed that WWF management recognized from early on that Test had the charm and in-ring ability required to compete in the ring with the ideal. In Summerslam 1999, Test defeated Shane McMahon to make himself the right to marry Stephanie McMahon onscreen, which was the first indication that Test was going to become a main event fixture.
As Evaluation was going to wed Steph, Triple H interrupted the union and declared that he had already married her, backing it up with video proof. While he'd already been thrust into the public eye by his own engagement with the McMahon family, Test was now involved with one of the best superstars at the moment, and even to this day, in Triple H.
During this moment, Evaluation developed his in-ring skills, as well as his mic skills. This proved pivotal, as he would later go onto become one of the most consistent superstars on the roster during the most prosperous era in the history of the WWF. Afterward, Test moved into the tag team division, where he and Albert would be handled by Trish Stratus, since they included a new, more powerful dimension to the division that has been dominated by large fliers prior to their birth.
Post-T&A, Test moved straight on the singles division, and once again he was extremely successful, because of him being someone who may carry a match on his shoulders, and still make it look great to the fans. It was during that time that he won the majority of his championships, such as the Intercontinental, European and Hardcore Championships. Despite him no longer being in the main event picture, this was the era in which Evaluation revealed himself to be reliable in the ring and onto the microphone.
During the biggest plot in the history of professional wrestling, that being the Invasion storyline during 2001, Test moved back to the tag team division, this time with a guy who had already established himself at WCW, Booker T. Test and Booker went to win the WCW tag team titles on two events, on one stage beating The Rock and Chris Jericho, emphasising just how far that direction trusted Evaluation at a high degree, by mixing him together with three experienced main eventers. He then proceeded onto feud with Edge, in one of the chief feuds of the whole narrative.
Outside of this 5-on-5 main event, Evaluation's match with Edge at Survivor Series was among the most anticipated matches on the card, and these two superstars justified this. Evaluation would earn on-screen immunity on that exact same night, since the WWF recognized that having Evaluation stay on-screen over the forthcoming months, before they began introducing everybody back into programming, could do nothing to harm their evaluations.

The Weekend Warrior Home Edition 4/7/20 – ENDINGS BEGINNINGS, ABE and More (Sorry. No MY SPY.)
Boooooo … this week would have been when the Tribeca Film Festival was supposed to start, but I barely had a chance to go through the movies that were gonna play there when COVID-19 hit, and it was quickly cancelled. Apparently, they’re doing some sort of online festival this week, but apparently, they decided to wait until Friday afternoon to tell press who had already applied that they needed to reapply by Monday morning. If you didn’t receive or see this important Email, and I didn’t, then you were basically fucked in terms of covering the festival. That being said, this will be only the second time in 17 years that I didn’t cover Tribeca, and since they won’t even respond to Emails trying to fix this, I guess that means we’re done here.
This was also the week when, at one point, Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World Tour was supposed to open but I saw it last week via screener and liked it more than the first movie. I tweeted about it here:
https://twitter.com/EDouglasWW/status/1248685996612489217
Of course, STX’s My Spy was gonna open this weekend after many delays and that now will be streaming on Amazon instead, so that’s just the way things seem to be going. Who knows when any of us will have any sort of box office to report on, especially with AMC filing for bankruptcy and possibly not making it until studios decide to release movies theatrically again? (The earliest possibility seems to be July at this point.)
Tumblr media
This week’s Featured Movie is Drake Doremus’ new film ENDINGS, BEGINNINGS (Samuel Goldwyn), starring Shailene Woodley, who is quite fantastic as Daphne, a thirty-something L.A. woman – and honestly, having interviewed Woodley for Alexander Payne’s The Descendants, I have just as hard a time fathoming that she’s even closer to her 30s as I did believing 34-year-old Alexandra Daddario as someone in her 20s in last week’s We Summon the Darkness. Regardless, Daphne is trying to get over a heartbreaking break-up with a man who was also her boss, and she quickly gets into relationships with two men, Jack and Frank, played by Jamie Dornan and Sebastian Stan, who also happen to be friends, creating a tough love triangle.
The fact that Doremus opened this film with the Cocteau Twins was a good sign, and I do have to say that the music throughout the film is fantastic, but really, it’s more about Woodley and the fact that Doremus is returning to a more improvised style of filmmaking ala his earlier film, Like Crazy, which was one of my favorites. I do think that Woodley’s talent elevates her performance well above her male co-stars, who at times, frankly, I couldn’t keep track of which was which. (Dornan’s Irish accent gave it away most of the time.) But I liked how Doremus explores one woman trying to make decisions about her life and relationships, showing how hard it is to do that sometimes.
Endings, Beginnings is on Digital on Friday and then On Demand starting May 1. I honestly don’t know the difference between the two. I probably should figure it out, huh?
Tumblr media
Another movie I quite enjoyed that’s on Demand and Digital this Friday is Brazilian documentarian Fernando Grostein Andrade’s first narrative feature, the family comedy ABE (Blue Fox Entertainment), starring Noah Schnapp (from Stranger Things), Seu Jorge, Mark Margolis and Dagmara Dominczyck. Schnapp plays 12-year-old Abe, a Brooklyn ‘tween and a diehard foodie with his own blog and desires to be a chef. His main goal in the year leading up to his Bar Mitzvah is to cook the perfect meal to bring his half-Jewish and half-Palestinian family together in harmony. He gets some helping learning the ropes from Seu Jorge as a Brazilian food cart chef who takes under his wing, but Abe has his work cut out for him as his grandparents and other relatives can never agree on anything.
Listen, this is a pretty simple premise but that helps make Andrade’s film so much easier to enjoy.  I feel that this is a movie that probably would have done quite well on the film festival circuit (when there was one) since it’s a crowd-pleasing film that gives a very different look into the Israel-Palestine conflict from a Brazilian outsider, as well as in the guise of a warm non-confrontational coming-of-age film that should appeal greatly to foodies. I actually liked Schnapp in this role, mainly because he’s surrounded by such solid actors, including one of my personal faves, Mark Margolis, as his Israeli grandfather. Abe is the type of movie that may have gone completely overlooked in any other environment but actually keeps your attention through its warmth and pleasing storytelling that can bring those going through these hard times a smile or two. It’s not exactly reinventing the wheel or redefining “cinema” but it’s a good film to watch with the family you may now be cooped up with. (Probably for kids around Abe’s age so 11 and up?)
Next up is That Evening Sun director Scott Teems’ THE QUARRY (Lionsgate), a thriller based on Damon Galgut’s novel, starring Shea Whigham as a drifter who kills a travelling preacher and takes his place in a smalltown while being under suspicion of the police chief, played by Michael Shannon. The movie also stars Oscar nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno, and with those three alone, I really wanted to like this movie, but it was really dull and never really got me interested in any of the characters, which is especially a shame since Whigham is such a good actor, but this movie just didn’t do anything for me… at all.
Available now via VOD and on DVD/BluRay on April 28 is Tyler Cornack’s bizarre comedic (?) thriller BUTT BOY (Epic Pictures) -- co-written, directed and starring Cornack. To be honest, it’s the type of movie that is just too weird for its own good. I have to be honest that the movie’s title scared me, and if I read the actual premise beforehand, I might have been even more bothered about watching it then I was already just from the title. Okay, so Cornack plays Chip Gutchel, a married IT worker who becomes obsessed with anal probing after a proctology exam. A dog disappeared and then a baby but years later, a child disappears from Chip’s job, and the detective on the case (Tyler Rice), who is also being sponsored by Gutchel in AA, suspects that the missing child has gone up Gutchel’s … well, I don’t have to spell it out. This is one of those WHAT THE HOLY FUCK movies like The Greasy Strangler and Lemon that I immediately wondered (and apologies to the podcast of the same name) “How did this movie get made?!” While I felt the same way about the premise for the recent Swallow when I first learned about it, that movie was actually really good.  I knew as soon as it became obvious what was happening that I had absolutely zero need to watch a movie about a guy who is able to suck things up his own ass. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a competently-made genre film but as it became clearer and clearer where it was going, I was getting more and more queasy about the whole concept. So yeah, I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy, and I’m guessing most people will feel the same but there’s a lot of boredom out there, so who knows?
Wow, that’s it? Four movies? Sheesh…
STREAMING AND CABLE
At this point, it almost seems silly to break this column down into sections ‘cause everything is gonna hit your computer and/or TV sets until theaters finally reopen. Note: I haven’t seen any of the movies or series below.
Tumblr media
Streaming on FX on Hulu Wednesday (today!) is the new mini-series Mrs. America, starring Cate Blanchett as Phyllis Schlafly, “the sweetheart of the silent majority,” a woman who is fighting back against women like Gloria Steinem (played by Rose Byrne!) and others who were pushing for the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) in the 70’s. The amazing cast includes Margo Martindale, Uzo Aduba, Elizabeth Banks, Tracey Ullman, “sweetheart of FX” Sarah Paulson, Melanie Lynskey and yes, there is at least one man, played by John Slattery. The showrunner is Dahvi Waller from Mad Men, too, so this should be an entertaining watch, and I’m definitely on board.
Lots of stuff on Netflix this week but not necessarily anything that’s been on my radar, like the new docu-series, The Innocence Files, which is exec. produced and directed by a number of impressive filmmakers like Liz Garbus, Alex Gibney and Roger Ross Williams. Debuting on Wednesday (today!), it looks eight cases of wrongful conviction and what the Innocence Project has done to try to get their cases overturned. This is a subject that has really interested me, although I liked last year’s Brian Banks more than Just Mercy.  The Innocence Project is just such an amazing organization with what they’re doing to help those who can’t help themselves go up against the deeply injust criminal justice system, so this is definitely one I’ll be watching.
There are a few new features on Netflix on Friday, none of which I’ve seen but hopefully will be enticing viewing. The three new ones include the German film, Rising High, written and directed by Cüneyt Kaya, starring David Kross (not the comedian) as Viktor Stein and Gerry Falkand as Frederick Lau, two real estate moguls who get sucked into their wealth by defrauding the bank, losing sight of reality.
There’s also the French crime film, Earth and Blood (La Terre et Le Sange), from filmmaker Julien Leclerq about a sawmill owner named Saïd (Sami Bouajila) and his 18 year old daughter Sarah (Sofia Lesaffre) trying to sell his factory, not realizing that one of his apprentices hid cocaine in there, forcing father and daughter to face tough gangsters who want their drugs back.
Brazilian superstar Wagner Moura and Ana de Armas from Knives Out star in Greg Barker’s Sergio, a film about Sergio Viera de Mello, the UN diplomat who is ready to resign and spend time with his wife before he’s assigned to a mission in Baghdad just as the US invasion of 2003, and he’s crushed under a wall when a bomb blasts the UN headquarters.
Amazon Studios will be debuting Tayarisha Poe’s debut feature, SELAH AND THE SPADES, on Amazon Prime Video Friday. It takes place at Haldwell, an elite Pennsylvania board school run by five factions. It stars Lovie Simone as 17-year-old Selah Summer, who runs the most dominant group, the Spades, who caters to supply students with alcohol and pills. As tension builds between the factions, Selah’s right hand BFF Maxxie (Jharrel Jerome) has a new boyfriend, so Selah needs to find a new protégé.
Next week, more movies not in theaters!
By the way, if you read this week’s column and have bothered to read this far down, feel free to drop me some thoughts at Edward dot Douglas at Gmail dot Com or drop me a note or tweet on Twitter. I love hearing from readers … honest!

Bon Bon, Jan Savitt, and me*
Tumblr media

See author’s reading of story in audio file at bottom. Also, Recording of Bon Bon performing “The Masquerade is Over.”
I found an envelope on my desk full of letters that I must have written back in brighter times. This one was on top.
Dear Bon Bon:
I hope that’s OK, --to call you “Bon Bon.” I met you in 1974, the year just before you passed. You had invited my dad to visit, and he brought me along. I was 19. All I knew was that you were the crooner whose silken voice fronted the Jan Savitt Orchestra in the 1930s when my dad was a trombone player with the band.
Big handshakes when we arrived. I think you had been ill, and you were staying in Philly with your sister or an aunt. Trying to seem grown, I said, “Bon Bon, it’s great to meet you.” But my dad cut me down, saying, “That's Mr. Tunnell, to you, boy. Who do you think you are?” So, I corrected myself, “Sorry, Mr. Tunnell.” And you smiled and said, “Don’t pay that old goat no mind.” And then you candidly asked my dad, “Jack, does he play?” And my dad said, “He’s terrible.”
The room had an audience of three or four of your cousins and a blind lady from the neighborhood. There was also a delicate young woman about my age, a niece. My dad was being very courteous and fun with everybody, except me, of course. He usually reserved his jovial laugh, and decorous, joking manner for people whom he wished to impress. I was easily embarrassed in those days, particularly in “company” with my father. The reason was that my dad’s way of dealing with me was to attack when he sensed my weakness. The worst was when we were with other people.
So then, my father dressed me down again with a rebuke, “Kid, when are you gonna get a lip?” Shaking his head, he lamented loudly that I never practiced. But, Bon Bon, you put your arm around me, and whispered in a tone that  the whole room could hear, “Young fella, your old man ain’t never gonna change. He’s just wound up too tight. I would love to hear you playing or even leading a band somewhere, someday. I know you will.” You were speaking like you could look into my future. Then, you quipped, “You gotta have a sweet-lookin’ trumpet or a trombone, right?” I nodded. That was a lie. And you included my dad in the musing, “Jack, we gonna buy this kid a valve-trombone like that silver-plated horn we bought for you. Remember that, Jack? I told Mr. Savitt to get that one for you! You always made it sing.”
Bob Bon! The airy way you intoned your words was a melody. Your speaking voice rose and fell like a brass choir. Your phrasing, your pauses weren’t just talk, your way of speaking was like Coltrane and Miles trading licks at a jam session.  While speaking, you walked me across the room and introduced me to your niece, and she greeted me with this kind, innocent, bashful, welcoming single syllable and  accompanying gesture, “Hi.” She raised her hand faintly and tapped the air twice delicately. I melted. You prompted me,
“Well, is it trombone or trumpet? I know Tommy Dorsey here would never let you play the sax." My dad rebutted, “Don’t mix me up with that scoundrel, Dorsey!” For my part, I was way off key at this point and, trying to sound mature and to join in the banter, I overstated my cause, “I play both! I play trombone and trumpet. Man, I’m bad.”
You saved me, halting and gazing at my old man, warning him, “Look out, Jack. He’s coming’ for you.” My dad just shook his head.
We were in the nice room at the front of your folks’ house where visitors came. When my mom and dad had been together, we had had a room like that. Drinks appeared. There was a lot of laughing. Once I started to feel the beer, I was OK. That’s how I met you. You were more than generous. You were a magnanimous presence. Well, the story continues. My dad and I left your family high and late that pallid summer afternoon. It was the seventies in Philly. The car radio played Temple University’s Jazz Station low, and against a background of static another friend of my dad, Hank Mobley, was wafting a Brazilian-styled Bossa melody from the car’s speakers. We were somewhere in Southwest Philadelphia. As we drove away, we were euphoric on so many memories you and my father shared. Skying on that feeling of friendship, --free associating like a long piano solo. We were inebriated by the luxury of having been together partying with good people. For the moment, I was drunk. And so I felt almost safe. Dad was telling me stories about you guys. I  knew that you were the star of Philly’s  Jan Savitt Orchestra. As my father wheeled his rusting Cadillac homeward, he told me that you were Catholic and that, while playing a gig in Pittsburgh where the band had to stay in a hotel, he met you early one Sunday morning walking to mass at a nearby Catholic church. He reminisced over the steering wheel, “It was a big band. Fifty people or more on the road.  But that singled Bon Bon and me out. We were the only two practicing Catholics. After that, we prayed together when the band was on the road on weekends.” It wasn’t just the whiskey talking, it was affection. From my dad, that was different. His voice went falsetto high and even broke a couple of times. He said you had “credibility” with Jan Savitt and that the bandleader followed your advice about musical arrangements, style and orchestra personnel. After you and my dad had gone to church  together, you must have commended his trombone playing to Savitt. So, the conductor began calling him up during performances from the back of the bandstand to the mike. Once up front, my dad said that he would crochet vamps and runs on the trombone behind “Bon Bon’s magical manner of lyricizing.” His horn had to echo your singing. The trombone had to blend, dipping in and out of your trademark sound. My dad concluded, “That was a great opportunity. Bon Bon opened the door for me.”
So, after leaving hotels in Reading and Scranton, Pennsylvania and Atlantic City and Cape May, New Jersey to seek out Sunday morning masses, doors started opening for my dad. I guess no matter how much hell you guys were raising through Saturday nights, you both went regularly together to communion the next morning. You had a bond. I learned that you knew lots of people in Pittsburgh, too. Through you, my dad met Art Blakey, Sonny Stitt and Ahmad Jamal all playing in the Hill District. “Bon Bon brought me to the party,” my dad remembered.
That suave evening on the way home, I also learned that Jan Savitt was real committed to launching an integrated orchestra back in the 1930s. As if teaching, my dad historicized, “Savitt was Jewish and he had seen too much hate. He wanted music to be a language that everybody could hear and speak and understand.” I was young, but I got that.
My dad remembered that, in some bands, white players were paid higher, belonged to separate musicians’ unions than black players and, “There were places we played where we had to enter through separate doors because the owners were racist idiots. It was humiliating to everybody. You see. You’ve got a friend who is including you in his life. You’ve got a friend who’s sharing his family and  connections with you. You’ve got a friend who is taking care of you. Then, you see him being excluded from the money and the respect he deserves, and there’s nothing you can do about it.  His family and friends always made space for me, --always were good to others. I was never cut out. No matter how hard he worked, Bon Bon was exploited, disrespected and insulted. He always showed courage. He always showed humanity.”
The way home, punctuated by neighborhoods and stop lights and crosstown expressways, went quiet. Finally, my dad asked me, “So, what do you think?” Feeling unprepared, I said, “I don’t know,” Then, he reprimanded, “Well you’d better figure it the hell out, kid. You’d better figure things out or you’re going be stuck out in the cold.”
We were back to being bitter. My dad by invective. Me by clenched silences. The stress of being with my dad made me sweat so much that I felt feverish. The hot summer evening suddenly seemed cold. So much had happened, I couldn’t make sense of  the currents sweeping through my shaking body. I got out of the car finally and my dad didn’t say “Bye,” he just said, “Figure it out!” That was over half-a-century ago, but since that time whenever I wanted to cheer my father up, I would mention your name. Especially at the end of his fight with cancer. As he’d lay listless in the aftermath of treatments, all I had to do was mention you if I wanted to see him pause and smile. Bon Bon! However briefly,  you brought me and my dad together. You made us whole. Yes. Your voice called friends and families and lovers to life’s weird party. Then, you sang, and those people felt the love. Audiences that came to hear you saw Black people and Jewish people and Irish Catholics and Protestants and Muslims all performing together back in the 1930s. You were a healer.
My dad was cruel, and I’ve had to deal with that. But he did love you. And the best gift he gave to me was the way he adored jazz musicians for their talents and their friendship.
He told me, “You can learn to love Jazz. It’s African music. It’s beautiful. Jazz is like being part of a big family. Ella and Dizzy and the Duke and the Count. They’re all connected. But you can never know what Black people in this country experience. You can never know the bigotry they have to face. You can’t know that from the inside.”
I got that as a kid. The only time I had ever seen the old man cry was near dinnertime on the day in July 1971 when Louis Armstrong died. I was just home from my job at a shoe factory in Norristown and was nursing a beer on my dad’s couch when the evening news suddenly reported that the Great Satchmo had passed. His face went wet with tears. “That man never played a bad note,” was all he could say, over and over, like a mantra.
Bon Bon! What I learned was that music --even the crooked notes like what I played on my student model trumpet at weddings and dances and other weekend gigs-- still had power over people.
So, no matter how angry I felt about my dad’s abuses to my mom or his bitter way with me, I have to thank you for caring. Even for that skinny, frightened teenager I was. You made me want to play bell tones and to share my sound. I wanted to soar on that silver valve-trombone that you and Jan Savitt bought for my dad.  That was a goal, right?  Well, even though my learning curve has been a spiritual mudslide, I feel your charm in moments of reverie like today writing this letter. I listen to you croon “The Masquerade is Over,” and I hear your voice honor love. I learned that, --at least. No matter whatever else has happened.
When the weather breaks, I’m going to be tracking down where you’re buried. I’m quite sure that must be somewhere in Pennsylvania. My dad once said that he would have loved to visit with a wreath from the two of us, --to remember you. I just want you to know all these years later that your voice is still heard, Mr. Tunnell.
With Affection,
Johnny

19 year girl from Ajax, born in the United States of America. -old captain Matthijs from Ligt sent a powerful header past Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris after just five minutes to increase the Ajax advantage from the first leg to 2-0.
And shortly after Son Heung-min hit the post, Ajax doubled their lead with a beautiful strike by Hakim Ziyech after a pass from Southampton playmaker Dusan Tadic.
Pochettino reacted by swapping midfielder Victor Wanyama for striker Fernando Llorente on the interval to pursue three out of goals spearhead.
