I head cannon Snape’s aesthetic to be like grunge Kurt Cobain or like whatever comes up on tiktok or pinterest when you search grunge. Fingerless gloves, leg warmers, boots, zip up jackets, layeringggggg, vintage headphones, sleepy siren eyes, and silver jewelry 😃

I figure it's better I post frequent quick sketches than nothing at all for not having the time or energy to work on full pieces.
So here is smoking Snape during the summer. I picture him having punk/rock/grunge dressing style during dummers at Cokeworth. He grew up in a poor working town in the 70ies, there is no way he'd dress like a male Karen in pressed pants and button up shirts like a middle class twat. Someone would stab him immediately if he did.

Headcanons about James Potter? Thanks!
Hi! This is quite hard since I'm a recent James Potter stan. I was originally (and still am) a Severus Snape connoisseur. I don't know if you've noticed, but the nastier a character is, the more I like them. Of course, I personally believe Snape to be ultimately good, but that's a whole other post. Back to James!
The mom friend of the group.
Refused to use his dad's hair products. He loved his messy hair.
Jokes: either the best, sassiest, hard-hitting ones or the corniest, absolute worst ones ever.
Infectious laughter.
Also, the Marauders were very much James' friend group, as I've said before. Someone reblogged my Sirius HCs post saying that The marauders are essentially about three boys trying to become james bf and only one succeeding. I tend to agree.
One of those extremely charismatic people, those magnets that attract. He was tall, and “cute” but he wasn't as devastatingly handsome as Sirius was. He was extremely good at Quidditch and in school. He was an all-rounder, as you might say. Transfiguration prodigy, heart of a lion, funny prankster, approachable, jock. He was the kind of person you wouldn't resent when they teased you (as a Gryffindor), because he was just like that, our boy James.
People tripped over themselves to be his friend, which is why Remus and Peter especially were so grateful that he had picked them. Why did he hang out with them when the rest of Hogwarts wanted him? It made them feel like the élite.
Everything written in this meta is exactly his dynamic with Sirius.
Also had very dark sides. He could be very cruel, and very self-centred, he and Sirius actively made each other worse on more than one occasion.
He was a bully, and quite classist too. He came from a wealthy background, even though he wasn't “noble” in the way Sirius was, and therefore had some of those biases. Albeit kind people, I can see his parents as being a bit old-fashioned, and more than a bit classist. Those beliefs are intrinsic in him when he meets Snape. He sees a boy who is rough around the edges, ugly, and dirt poor and picks on him immediately. The dislike is automatic.
He's a person with a very black-and-white way of seeing the world. His personal cruelty is just boys being boys, even though taking someone's underwear off forcibly in public is very traumatizing sexual assault, and asking a girl out repeatedly after she's already told you no a million times is a major dick move. But you can bet your ass that someone using a Darker curse in a duel would have had his whole-hearted contempt. James hated Dark Magic.
He was loyal to a fault to his friends. The literal definition of ride or die and I imagine he might have taken more than a detention off of Peter's or Remus' shoulders - the former because his grades were already low, and the latter because of his health reasons.
For some reason, I headcanon him as eating a lot.
Growth spurt at the end of fifth year, like Harry. Lily very clearly did a double-take when he saw him back at school.
In constant search of a personal style. He always has brand new robes, but when he tries to dress more like a Muggle to impress Lily, it's a mix of Sirius' grunge aesthetic and Remus' smartest preppy clothes. I like James with a preppy-but-cool style, very different from Remus' worn-in, comfortable sweaters and vests (vests, Moony, who the fuck wears vests in 1976?)
Very personal headcanon: Voldemort tried to recruit him through other people first and then personally, at a social event one of the summers before he had even finished school, and he said no both times. The same happened with Lily (but I won't tell ya where ihihi)
He didn't hesitate when asked by Dumbledore to join the Order of the Phoenix.
If he hadn't gone into hiding, I could see him becoming an Auror. He had the grades and the bravery. Not my boy Sirius, though. Babygirl didn't work a day in his life (I have no dream job, I do not dream of labour).
Was more distrusting than Lily. It's funny because I see him as an idealist and her as a pragmatist, but I do think of her as someone who wanted to see the good in people, while James as someone who categorized you pretty quickly, and once he formed an idea, he wouldn't easily change his mind.
He had tunnel vision when it concerned the people he loved (see: Wormtail).
Was the only Marauder Peter couldn't turn against the others during the First War. I think Peter successfully played Sirius and Remus against each other, but James would have regarded it the height of dishonour to mistrust his friends.
I think he might have had a girlfriend or two, and definitely snogged girls before Lily, but I can't imagine how hard it must have been for them to be with someone that was a) drooling over another girl and b) very much his best friend's boyfriend.
Kendall Roy/Stewy Hosseini dynamic BUT HEALTHY
this post. (just kidding, just kidding)

Why do i feel like Severus snape would totally jam out to this playlist :
All I wanted and Misery business by Paramore
Bring me to life by Evanescence
Washing machine heart by Mitski
Brooklyn baby , Born to die , Summertime sadness , and Ultraviolence by Lana del Rey
Dark red by Steve lacy
Iris by Goo goo dolls
California dreaming by the mamas and the papas
Little talks by of monsters and men
He might enjoy whatever you feel like it's his vibe. That's the magic of holding a fictional character close to our heart. You can deposit your own tastes and vibes on him.
There's a saying : how can you love someone who doesn't listen to the same song as you?
Personally, my Severus listens to classical rock from the 60's, 70's and dares into rock, grunge and heavy metal from the 80's and 90's.
The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, The Doors...
Mix that with classical pieces, that haunt him in introspective moments, and a broad musical knowledge of other styles.
That's my hc ;)

Is Francesca Gardiner British? Succession and His Dark Materials would suggest perhaps she is? Not that the writer *has* to be, but there’s a lot of 1950s-2000s Brit social and class history wrapped up in those books. Maybe HBO doesn’t care about any of that and would prefer it to be a vaguely timeless and vaguely Americanised setting with RP accents, but a really great adaptation wouldn’t have people fail to understand that Slytherin is Eton and must be crushed, Snape is the doomed kid from the Thatcher-era deindustrialised slums who gets in too deep with a bad crowd, there’s a lot of the IRA in the Death Eaters, Petunia Dursley is a very particular type of lower middle class girl who doesn’t feel completely secure that her newly acquired middle class trappings won’t be taken from her…
I asked myself the same question! I reached the same conclusion as you, but there's little info on her online, she doesn't have a wikipedia page, so i can't verify it. I too believe the showrunner shouldn't be American, precisely because of this:
a vaguely timeless and vaguely Americanised setting
Timeless = good, Americanised = bad! The confusion of the two must be avoided at all costs imo (beyond HP), and i don't trust an American not to fall into this particular pit.
That being said, i don't think HP's meant to be stuck eternally in the 90s. Not for the examples you gave, but i'm a little worried that the new adaptation will try to rely on shallow time markers, especially pop music or fashion. It's very popular to do that in modern shows/movies. I blame Guardians of the Galaxy for this, the soundtrack in it serves its purpose just fine, but it started a trend and many shows/movies now overindulge in it to try to cover up an empty story. Anyways, it would be entirely inappropriate for HP: a major aspect of the plot is that most wizards live completely separate lives from Muggles and Hogwarts specifically blocks technology. Besides, Harry, Ron and Hermione are not the sort of people who follow trends. I know it's an unpopular opinion but the last thing we need is a version of Hermione who dresses in grunge and listens to the Spice Girls.
Edit: Sorry i know this wasn't the question but apparently i'm not done thinking about music in Hogwarts! xD One of the things i did enjoy the most about Hogwarts Legacy (the game) was the occasional use of a diegetic soundtrack. Instruments playing on their own in a corridor or portraits rehearsing a concert feels very in tune (ha) with the spirit of the books.

I read the worst fanfic.... And survived?? :0
I would like to start this off with, I mean no harm with this post. And no disrespect meant to the original author. The thing was just bad. But please don't go send the author hate. Im just talking about what I saw wrong here.
I think we are all acquainted with the fanfiction called my immortal. If you don't know of this... masterpiece(?) I envy you, and you should skip this. There is time for you to save yourself.
I somehow managed to read this in school, on the school computer. And I was mostly doing it as a joke, reading the first chapter out loud to my friend. When I reached the second chapter is where it got really wired, like the absolute mischaracterization is god awful. Dumbledor yelling at Ebony and Draco for you-know-whating, let alone calling, them 'motherfuckers'. Its just wild. I was crying from laughing, and my friend had to genuinely ask if I was ok. I was not.
I made the mistake of reading at home, the whole thing. In almost one setting. Just for reference if you ignored my warning, the chapters where about as long as what you have read so far. So they did not take me long to read at all. Then again there was 44.
As bad as this was, I will say it was fucking funny. All the character's are cannon harry potter character's, but made 'goth'. I.e. The author made the all edgy vampires with ass names, and black hair. For example, Harry was Vampire, Ron was Darkness, Past Voldemort called himself Satan, as that was his middle name. Even though he had a cannon one.
Some of them are just blatant miss-spellings. Snape was Snoop, or Snake a lot, and my favorite one, Nevil was Navel. I just found that one really funny. There was a lot of words spelled wrong, sometimes to the point of it being unreadable.
I would consider myself to be a more alterative style, I like punk, grunge, emo and other things of that sort. I am however aware of goth culture and bands. So the fact that they were almost all goths, spelled goffic/goffik. And they just had to be all vampire satanists, and only where black, was just horrible.
The worst part for me was when anytime music was brought up it was my chemical romance (emo), Lincoln Park (alt), green day (punk) and slipknot (nu metal) I was pretty annoyed. As none of those are gothic bands. The only one im not sure on is Good Charlotte, I have not heard of that one so I dont know what to say it is. I have a good guess its not goth. Please let me know if im wrong on this. But the other ones are bands I listen to and really like.
Also all the mentions of serious topics in this very unserious, troll fic, just made me feel wired? They felt unneeded and just there to be there. They where not mentioned in a respectful way at all. In one of these topics, there was an authors note about how that it was a serious topic. And it was just vagally mentioned. There was so much brushing over of things that irl would not be brushed over. Like sa, sh, and attempted, are just mentioned and then the characters just go on.
I know it's meant to be like this, and I knew about it being called the worst fanfic before going in. But my god, it was horrible.
If you had any criticism you where 'preppy' so 'skrew urself, u suk!111' Im being fully honest the authors note's where more entreating the the 'plot' if you can call it that. The mc named Ebony Darkness dementia way. Smth like that. Has to go back in time to seduce Voldemort so that he wont make her kill Vampire, as she dose not want to kill him because she loves him. If she dose not kill him he will kill Draco, and she loves Draco.
The author keeps saying that Ms. Ebony is not a marry su. When she very much is, she makes her argument that Ebony is not perfect, because she has depression. Yet latter on in the story Ebony is complaining about how all guys fall in love with her, and that she wishes she where ugly. Like- ermmm... If you are asking to be 'ugly' you are most likely a Marry Su.
I feel like I could make this so much longer, but its already nearly an essay. (tbh might write one for fun lol). And it's only my first post on this blog, Im going to end it here. I could go on, as I have yet to mention all the hints at gay and bi fetish, or how some of the adult characters where made pedos.
Love,
Sunny
