here they are! i'm more into mcgood rn but ofc i'll always love dorlene, my loves <3 marlene really carried the writing of this microfic so props to her tbh

"Bungee jumping," Dorcas sighs as she gets hooked up to her harness. "I can't believe I let you talk me into this." Marlene is standing next to her practically vibrating out of her skin. Dorcas knows Marlene has an adventurous spirit but she honestly never thought she would be this excited about bungee jumping.

"You're going to love it," Marlene says with far too much confidence. Dorcas is still a bit nervous but she promised she would follow through and plus, she loves flying, how hard could this be? It's just that she isn't allowed to bring her wand with her so if the cord were theoretically to break, she wouldn't be able to catch herself. Of course that's ridiculous because the cords are magically reinforced anyway but- "Babe?" Shit, she wasn't listening to Marlene.

"Sorry- zoned out there for a sec," she apologizes. Marlene just smiles and shrugs it off.

"No worries, you ready?" she asks, motioning down to the cliff above the river next to them. Dorcas looks up and sees Marlene with her short pigtails swaying in the wind and the pure joy and excitement on her face and suddenly she's sure, and ready.

"Let's do it," Dorcas grins. Next thing she knows the two of them are hurdling towards the river below them and Dorcas feels sick to her stomach for only a moment before the cord catches and she's flung back up into the air. Then it's the most fun she's ever had, flying through the air seemingly with now restraints just floating around in ecstasy with the love of her life. She would marry Marlene if she asked, she realizes. On their second bounce, Marlene turns to her.

"Dorcas!" she shouts, and Dorcas looks over to see Marlene grinning like a madman. "Will you marry me?!" She's serious. Of course she is. She's Marlene, and Dorcas loves her for that. Any normal person would see this as insane but Dorcas just hurls through the air laughing and screaming woooo!

"Yes!" she shouts back, and the two of them bounce through the air giggling and overjoyed.

"Fuck yeah!" Marlene replies throwing her hands up, and Dorcas can only smile. Truly an engagement story for the ages.

one of the most infuriating things about becoming an adult is when you realize that it actually is 10x easier to solve problems by making a phone call vs literally any other communication method

#I was forced to get over my hatred of making phone calls bc of this #one 15 minute phone call is the equivalent of 5 back and forth emails #also if you don't know exactly what you need help with you can just ask and you can get real help #instead of just desperately clawing at faqs on websites #it's infuriating that it works so well #ramblings

Keep seeing that post where OP starts like 'Thinking about...grieving the undead' and then adds on about like. Real life situations where people have not died but have left your life and you would have reason to grieve them.

All respect, that's an important concept, but that is not what I am thinking about when I read 'grieving the undead'.

I think we should have a turn of phrase for "I'm not in the right, but I AM annoyed with this situation, so I just need to go bitch to a friend about this before I suck it up and go do the right thing" because more and more I'm finding this is a critical element of functional adulthood.
