‘We’ve been Jesse and the Rippers! Thanks for coming out,’ Jesse said as a wave of cheers and applause rippled around the club. He left the stage and headed to the small dressing room the venue owner provided for them. It had been a good show. The crowd liked their material and they’d even managed to sell a good deal of CDs. But that hadn’t been the highlight of his night. No, the highlight of Jesse’s night had been the cute girl who’d been watching him throughout. She didn’t seem to be a fan of theirs, but rather someone who had attended the club they just happened to be playing at, but she couldn’t take her eyes off him. And Jesse loved that. As the band packed up their stuff he headed out into the bar to get himself a drink.
He was standing at the bar, waiting to be served, when he felt someone appear beside him and turned to find the girl from before. She glanced at him and smiled.
‘Hey,’ Jesse said.
‘Hey,’ she said with a soft smile, ‘great set. You guys are really cool.
‘We like to think so,’ he chuckled.
‘I mean it. I wasn’t even gonna come out tonight but I’m glad I did,’ she said.
‘Well how about I make your night a little better,’ he said.
‘Oh yeah?’ she smirked, ‘how are you gonna do that?’
‘Well I’ll start by buying you a drink,’ he said with a smirk.
‘Sounds good to me,’ she smiled.
The guys had decided not to stay after the gig but Jesse didn’t much care. He was having a good time without them. He and Y/N had spent hours tucked away in a booth at the back of the club. She was a nice girl. Sweet, funny and smokin’ hot, just Jesse’s type. As the night wore on and the drinks flowed he found himself losing the thread of the conversation as he started getting distracted by her. The way she moved her hair out of her eyes. The way she smiled when she told him something funny. The way her lips formed a perfect pout as if begging for him to kiss her. She was telling him a story, enraptured in the tale, but he had no clue what was going on. He wanted to kiss her. Badly.
She seemed to catch him staring and blushed, ‘what?’ she asked after a moment. Jesse didn’t say anything, instead, he leaned in and placed his hand on her cheek before he kissed her tenderly. She tensed for a moment and then melted into it allowing him to continue. He pulled her to him and rolled his tongue against her lip as if asking her to go further. She responded and soon enough they were making out. When she finally pulled back Jesse watched her carefully. She was smiling, though a little shy, and said, ‘wanna take this back to my place?’
‘Absolutely,’ he said.
They left pretty sharpish after that, taking a cab to her apartment. Jesse figured it would probably be better than taking her home and having to explain why kids' toys littered every room in his house. Or having to explain to Joey and Danny who she was and why she was there. They were barely out of the cab before they were back on one another kissing one another as if their life depended on it. She forced them to break away so they could walk up to her apartment, though Jesse couldn’t help but come up behind her as she unlocked her door, kissing down her neck as his hands caressed her sides.
Once they were inside they were back together trying to make their way to the bedroom without breaking apart for too long. His lips were everywhere, nipping and sucking along her neck as he pushed her jacket off her shoulders. As they got into the bedroom Jesse pulled his shirt off, watching as she climbed onto the bed, lying down and watching him with an inviting smile.
‘Come here,’ she said beckoning him to her. Jesse didn't have to be told twice. He was on her in a shot, hovering over her as their lips reconnected. He made his way down her neck, his fingers tracing along the hem of her shirt before he hiked it up. She moved up so she could pull it off but as she did he noticed something.
Across her stomach were deep purple bruises, tinged with green around the edges where they’d started to heal. He stopped in his tracks and so did she, noticing him staring at her. She could see what he was seeing and nervously pulled her t-shirt down so they were no longer on show.
‘It’s fine,’ she said.
‘Those bruises-’
‘Aren’t a big deal,’ she said going to kiss him again but he pulled back until he was sitting up on the bed. She moved to sit up properly.
‘How did you…’ he said, trailing off mid-sentence. He had his own ideas. None of them good.
‘Let’s just say the last guy was a little rough,’ she said quietly. Jesse felt rage flow through him. He hated bullies. No matter the context. Those who used their fists to get their point across rather than their words. They made him sick. And he didn’t know how anyone could lay a finger on her. They’d only known each other mere hours but it was clear to him how special she was.
‘It’s fine,’ she said placing a hand on his knee, ‘and it doesn't have to ruin anything between us. I mean if the bruises bother you I’ll keep my shirt on.’
‘Bother me?’ Jesse baulked loudly making her wince, ‘sorry. Honey, I’m not bothered by them. Well the look of them anyway. I’m bothered by the person who did this to you. They shouldn’t be able to get away with this.’
‘It’s not a big deal,’ she said self-consciously.
‘Yes it is,’ he said as he placed his hand on her knee, ‘you’re a great girl. And whoever this guy is he didn’t deserve you. He doesn’t deserve any woman.’
‘I know that,’ she said quietly. Jesse could see something behind her expression as if she wanted to say something but she was holding herself back whether in fear of him judging her or admitting to whatever it was.
‘But?’ he said gently. She looked up at him panic-stricken, ‘you don't have to tell me if you don't want to.’
‘No it's okay,’ she said, ‘it’s just…I know it’s wrong. I know I shouldn’t let him in but he talks me around. Every time I tell him it’s done and every time he lures me back in until something like this happens. Then it’s like I see sense. You must think I’m really stupid.
‘I don't think you're stupid. Guys like that are just good at getting their way. They know all the cards to play to make you trust them again. It doesn't mean you're stupid for believing they might be a decent human for once,’ he said. Y/N nodded.
They sat in silence for a moment and she looked up at him with a meek smile as she said, ‘I bet this wasn’t the night you were planning on huh?’
‘Eh,’ he shrugged, ‘I had a good gig, a few drinks and I got to hang out with a pretty girl. I can’t complain.’
‘Still a bit of a mood killer though,’ she said.
‘Maybe,’ he said, ‘but maybe it just gives us a chance to take another run at this whole first date thing.’
‘You wanna go on a date?’ she said.
‘Well, we did take this thing at a hundred miles an hour. Maybe we just need to slow down a little bit,’ he said with a smile.
‘Sounds good to me,’ she replied.
‘Though,’ Jesse said, clearing his throat, ‘I’m still hoping for something.’
‘What’s that?’ she said in a whisper.
‘That I can keep kissing you,’ he said, ‘just for a little while longer.’
‘Like I said. Sounds good to me,’ she replied.

(DCxDP) The obligations of a rogue versus those of a parent (Pt. 4)
Tw: descriptions of body horror, Dr. Crane has PTSD and Does Not Realize, Crane has an actual panic attack and just doesn’t care, the Riddler makes one (1) sex joke about Batman
Will be crossposted to AO3 eventually
(Pt. 1 here) (Prev here) - (Pt. 5 here)
(Masterlist here)
Dr. Jonathan Crane is in his lab, the acrid scent of chemicals filling the air, and his hands are shaking.
Danny’s health, for the first week that he had him, had been steadily improving at an extremely quick rate. However, his healing had begun to stagnate. Danny said that it was because his body had run out of ectoplasm, and that while there was a lot of ambient ectoplasm in Gotham, he needed a stronger type in order to heal.
And so, that led Dr. Crane here.
He had stolen the research notes from the Penguin years ago regarding his experimentation on him.
(He quite vividly remembers the sound of bone creaking and groaning as it twisted, lengthened. The squelching of shifting tendons and muscles, the strange fabric-like tightening of skin. The feeling of going from man to monster, of losing all claim to his humanity.)
Danny had called him Liminal, part ghost. He had said that he was transformed by, among other things, a kind of synthetic ectoplasm.
Danny needed ectoplasm.
Crane had the research notes. He had every ingredient necessary. And yet, attempt after attempt failed.
The chemical smell burns his nose. His hands tremble.
Dr. Crane is not afraid.
He doesn’t feel fear anymore. He’s tried to, many, many times, but nothing has worked. And yet, his hands are shaking still.
(The horrifying sensation of vertebrae pop-pop-popping along his spine, growing and lengthening. The unbearable itching beneath his skin as toxin glands begin to form. The feeling of his teeth sharpening and elongating, of his skull growing, of his vision changing and brightening. The awful stench of chemicals. The awful stench of ectoplasm.)
Jonathan takes careful note of his shaking hands, his blurring vision, his accelerated heart-rate and shallow breathing.
(Human hands. Human vision. Human heart and lungs and organs.)
He takes note of them, but he does not let that distract him from the task at hand. Danny is not a chemist, but Jonathan is.
The boy knows enough about chemistry in theory, but he won’t go anywhere near Crane’s equipment. He seems to have some sort of intense fear of laboratory settings, probably developed during his stay with the GiW, and Crane is willing to respect that, if only because he cannot afford to lose him.
As such, Crane is the only one qualified to do this. And, unfortunately, if he isn’t successful the boy may very well die.
He heats the chemicals to precisely the right temperatures, adding each one to its correct container.
Dr. Crane thinks of the Scarebeast, that creature born of cruelty and greed and a sense of superiority. That creature which he tries to ignore is a part of him, that can never be removed. A damage which cannot be undone.
He pours the contents of a small beaker into a larger flask, watching the liquids swirl together. The stench in the air is becoming closer and closer to the one burned into his memory.
Crane’s whole body is wracked with unpleasant sensations. It’s truly unfortunate, he thinks, that despite his mind’s lack of fear, his body still reacts so harshly.
Jonathan’s eyes wander, eventually settling on a purple and green card sitting innocently on the corner of the table.
Right.
Even if they wiped out the GiW tomorrow, and even if Danny could survive without ectoplasm, he would still be in danger.
Crane has to get him back to good health. It’s the only way he can be sure that the boy can defend himself properly.
The solution in the flask begins to foam, and Jonathan does not hesitate as he adds the final ingredient. He pours the mixture into a new container, capping it and placing it into a freezer set to -40 degrees.
Hopefully this time he got the timing right.
Jonathan tries to relax, the ventilation in the room slowly but surely clearing the familiar smell from the air.
He thinks of the letter.
Surely, he thinks, that man can come up with some better material for his jokes. Or, at least something new.
Same old threats, same old attempted poisoning.
Aiming his threats at Danny, though, that was new. New and utterly unacceptable.
Scarecrow did what he had to.
He doubted that his solution would last forever, of course, as with that man it never did. As such, he would prepare both himself and Danny for the inevitable moment that his choices came back to bite them.
However, for the moment, they were safe. Danny could rest and recover, and Jonathan could figure out a plan to minimize possible damages.
Jonathan is no longer shaking.
He’s exhausted. This is his fifth attempt today, and each one leaves an unfortunate strain on his mind and body.
With a sigh, he settles himself into his seat at a nearby desk, opening up his computer and logging his most recent attempt. He still has to wait for it to chill to know if it was successful, but he can always update the logs later.
Once he’s done, he stretches, joints popping loudly as he walks to the freezer.
When he sees the results of his tireless work, the ghost of a smile flits across his face.
Success.
Jonathan picks up the jug of ectoplasm and leaves the lab, which is in all actuality the basement of the new apartment that he moved himself and Danny into after receiving the note. The scrappy old woman who was his landlord had told him that as long as he paid her five hundred dollars up front, she would let him set up in the basement without any questions or cop calls.
And so, the most expensive apartment in the Narrows was his.
At least, he thought, the distance between the basement and the apartment was short enough that Danny didn’t have to sit in while he was doing his labwork.
Jonathan knew that he didn’t exactly have a strong grasp on the concept of ‘lab safety,’ proven by his built-up immunity to almost every toxic chemical he’d ever encountered, and he doubted that Danny should be around such an environment.
He was back to the apartment quickly, not bothering to hide the self-satisfied smile on his face. Danny is sitting in his armchair, trying to read one of his books. Danny looks up, ready to greet him, when he sees the jug in his hands and pauses.
“Is that..?”
“Synthetic ectoplasm,” Jonathan says proudly, “I found the Penguin’s research notes and decided to recreate it, since you said that you needed it to heal properly. I’m not sure if it’ll work the same as what you usually have, but I hope it’s helpful all the same.”
Danny is standing, now, and looking at Jonathan with a strange look in his eyes. He looks, Jon thinks, like he’s about to cry.
Then Danny is rushing forward and wrapping his arms around Jonathan, his scrawny form shaking.
Jonathan is, for a moment, horrified. Did he do something wrong somehow? Why is this child, who’s so afraid of touch, hugging him?
And then he hears Danny’s voice, and he knows that it was all worth it.
“Thank you,” he’s mumbling, over and over, “thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you so much.”
“Of course,” Jonathan says softly, because what else can he say?
The boy cries in his arms for a while, and Jonathan briefly wonders what his life must have been like before, if a person like him can be seen as a comforting figure.
Then, Danny pours himself a small glass of the synthetic ectoplasm, putting the rest into the small fridge which had come with the apartment, and he settles back down, sitting in the armchair once again.
Jonathan sits opposite of him, and they chat with one another as Danny drinks.
Danny talks to him about the stars and tells him about different spaceships, and Jonathan makes sure to pay attention and ask the boy questions.
He doesn’t miss the way that Danny lights up every time he asks him something about his interests. He’s so passionate, so smart, a trait that he seldom sees outside of his fellow rogues, and Jonathan wants to encourage that.
It’s…nice. Peaceful, almost.
And then the front door flies open, because Jonathan isn’t allowed to have nice things.
“Jon,” a familiar voice rings out, “what the hell?!”
Danny is frozen in place, clearly terrified.
Jonathan heaves a sigh, turning to face the nuisance who’s entered his apartment.
“Eddie,” he drawls, “to what do I owe the pleasure?”
Edward’s face is red with anger as he invades Jonathan’s apartment.
“Oh, I don’t know! Maybe it’s the fact that you sent a bunch of rogues a cryptic message and then dropped off the face of the earth for two weeks! I was worried, Jon!”
Jonathan hums in acknowledgement.
“I didn’t think it was that cryptic,” he says, picking up a book in order to pointedly ignore the Riddler.
“Oh, of course you didn’t, you straw-stuffed hickory dickory dickhead. I swear, you’re always—” he pauses, finally having noticed Danny sitting opposite of Jonathan, “—who is this?”
“My apprentice,” Jonathan replies, dreading the upcoming headache he was no doubt going to develop from Edward’s company, “he’s helping me hunt down the GiW. His name is Danny.”
Edward gasps dramatically.
“You—an apprentice?! And you’re letting him sit in the old man chair?! You don’t even let me sit in the old man chair,” he wails, draping himself over the headrest of the couch with a flourish, “Jonathan, I thought I knew you!”
“Edward,” Jonathan says, “get out of my apartment.”
“Oh my goodness, this is incredible. You’re becoming the bat!”
“I am not becoming the bat, Eddie, now get out.”
Edward has a shit-eating grin on his face as he waltzes over to Danny. Danny, who seemed terrified when he first appeared, is now looking at him with obvious amusement written all over his face.
“I mean, look at him! The hair, the eyes, the scrappy build. If you put him in one of those traffic light vigilante costumes, he could easily pass as a Robin!”
“I’m not doing this with you today, Eddie.”
“Riddle me this, Jon: I am a treasure hidden inside of a chest. You can break me, or steal me, or give me a rest. I can flutter, or pound, or attack, or drop, but if you don’t have me, you’re certainly fucked. What am I?”
Jonathan pauses for a moment before he groans, dropping his head into his hands.
“Eddie.”
Danny sits still, a confused look on his face as he repeats the riddle silently. Then, his face lights up in delight.
“A heart!”
“Jon, I like this one,” Edward says with a smile, ruffling Danny’s hair, “you are correct! A heart, something that I wasn’t aware that our dear Jonathan had!”
“Eddie, stop.”
“No, no,” Edward says, “I was worried about you, you deserve this. I mean, you even missed girls night! You never miss girls night!”
“Girls night?” Danny asks, absolutely delighted.
“Oh, of course,” Edward says, sprawling over on the couch, dangerously close to just laying in Jonathan’s lap, “we have it once a week. I’m invited because of Selina and Jon’s invited because Harley likes him.”
“And what does girls night entail, exactly?”
“Eddie,” Jonathan groans, “please.”
“Well,” Edward hums, “we usually paint our nails, or watch a movie, or gossip about the other rogues, and occasionally, we tell each other about any ‘encounters’ we have with Batman,” he says, raising his eyebrows up and down.
Danny’s jaw drops.
“Edward, shut up,” Jonathan says, an irritated tone in his voice that wasn’t there before.
“No way,” Danny says, “I thought that Batman, like, hated you guys or something. You mean he actually..?”
“Oh, the Bat is much like a bottle of liquor or a cheap cigarette, in that he was made to be passed around.”
Danny chokes on air.
“Edward Nygma,” Jonathan hisses, getting out of his seat and looming over the man, “get the hell out.”
Edward pales.
“Leaving, leaving!” Edward says, dashing away from Jonathan. He pauses, turning to flash Danny a quick smile.
“Remember Danny, I’m your favorite uncle! Not any of the other rogues, me!”
With that, he leaves, the room falling completely silent.
And, as per usual, that silence does not last.
“You full-named him?” Danny asks gleefully, “and it worked?”
Jonathan just sighs, sitting down on the couch and rubbing at his temples.
“Please, don’t take anything Eddie says seriously. He’s a moron.”
“Dr. Crane, please let me come to girls night with you,” Danny pleads, his eyes sparkling, “I promise I won’t embarrass you.”
Jonathan groans.
“Of course you won’t, Eddie will do it for you.”
“Come on, please?”
“I think we’re a bit busy with the GiW at the moment,” Jonathan snaps. He pauses as he notices the crestfallen expression on Danny’s face.
This boy is going to be the death of him.
“Perhaps, though, when all that is taken care of…”
Danny cheers, grinning wildly, and Jonathan is not at all relieved to see him happy again. Certainly not.
The rest of the day is relatively normal.
Danny works on trying to get information from the GiW database while Crane refines his his fear toxin, both preparing for a raid on the GiW base they located in Gotham.
It was only a temporary base, nothing of note, but there was a chance of discovering more bases through it, and that wasn’t something either of them were willing to give up.
Still, something like this would take time. Rushing would only lead to failure.
Late in the night, long after Danny is fast asleep in his room, Jonathan pauses.
The GiW are not the only threat out there. They aren’t the only threat to him or to Danny. Perhaps it could be helpful to reach out to someone with greater resources than himself.
He sends a quick message to Red Hood.
Hopefully, he thinks, everything will go smoothly.

Steddie first kiss scenario
Accident: mistaken identity due to Steve being absolutely hammered | wc 893 |
Two hours into a Harrington house party, Eddie was getting near the end of his inventory and his social battery. The cup of punch-colored alcohol he'd been nursing had kept him nice and fuzzy for a while, but with the end in sight, he dumped the rest down the kitchen sink, tossed the cup in the trash, then turned, opting to walk out the back yard rather than navigate through the packed house.
But his progress was stopped in an empty hall by the man of the house himself, Steve Harrington.
A very drunk Steve Harrington, at that, considering the extra droop of his pretty eyes, lazy smile, overly loose movements, and the way he crashed into Eddie, pinning him against a small table, slurring loudly, "Nance! There'y'are."
He looked and smelled absolutely sloshed as he swayed further into Eddie's space.
"Steve, wha-"
"Been loogin for y' everywhere."
Before Eddie could even do anything, Steve's hands were buried in his curls and pulling him in until their lips met and - wow, that was definitely Steve Harrington's rum-soaked tongue in his mouth, making his stomach swoop, the heat from Steve's flushed face igniting a fire that tore across Eddie's skin, burning faster with every movement of Steve's lips. Lips that were soft, unlike the fingers curling, pulling Eddie's roots enough to make Eddie's hips press into Steve's, make him want to moa-
"You taste different. Like smoke and.....and peaches, hv'you been smoking?!" He frowned and shook his head. "S'not good for you."
He paused in thought as Eddie's heart hammered in his chest, mouth and scalp tingling from Steve's onslaught. His brain refused to make sense of anything happening. Were he not half propped up by the table against the wall and Steve's hold, Eddie would probably be on the floor.
"Wanna smoke now, achlly," Steve said as he put enough space between them to pat at his pockets before realizing with a laugh, "Oh wai', you've got 'em!"
He started patting at the pockets of a very shell-shocked Eddie as he continued to ramble, "And peashes. Where'd you ge' peashes? Y'llergic to the fuzz. You 'idn't eat that, d'you?"
Steve patted a little too far over the front of his jeans, making Eddie, honestly on the verge of blacking out, yelp. Steve giggled out, "Ticklish," then added, "You're taller," before pouting, "Ugh, your pockets 'r so full. When d'you put jeans on?" Steve let out a frustrated whine before huffing, "God, I can't find'em, just - "
Steve paused then smiled like he remembered the secret of life, and muttered, "You've got the smoke."
And just like that, Eddie's face was smooshed between Steve's hands, breath barely ghosting over Eddie's lips before he breathed Eddie in, eyes closed, probably imagining nicotine flooding his system.
Eddie would make a run for it if he were able to move, but he couldn't will his body to do anything but buzz from shock yet sing for Steve's touch.
Steve opened his eyes, and he took a long, glazed-over look at Eddie's face, settling on his lips.
"You kind of look different. Your lips....they're bigger." His eyes closed slowly then grew comically large. "D'you eat the fuzz, Nance?!" Steve panicked, then looked Eddie in the eyes again, and took a shuddering breath. "Your eyes, though, they....th' look, look kinda brown like -" Steve's face softened "- like his."
"Steve?"
To Eddie's immense horror, a very confused Barbara Holland had appeared behind Steve.
"Barrrb! Hey, guess what? Nance's been smoking!" he giggled.
"What?" Barb's eyes flicked back and forth between a very panicked, frozen Eddie.
"She tastes like smoke! Nancy Wheeler, smoking!" He cackled gleefully, but made it known that he was proud of her by turning back to Eddie and slurring, "You're so cool, 's like it's Halloween. Dressed up like Munson? Y' look so cool, baby." And he swooped in and kissed Eddie one more time.
"Okay, Steve!" Barb shrieked and pulled him away. "Let's get you some water!" She shot Eddie a wide-eyed questioning look and steered a stumbling Steve toward the kitchen.
"He's so wasted, he thought I was Nancy!" Eddie rushed out quietly, which made Barb snort.
Eddie's face burned, numb to everything except where Steve had touched him. Which was kind of everywhere, actually, so he felt on fire. "And it happened before I could even- I didn't know what to d-"
"Eddie!" She cut off his rambling, then sighed. "Don't worry, you're fine. You're fine. Understand?" She was waiting for a response.
Eddie, head still swimming, nodded cautiously.
"Good," she said, letting some of her tension melt away, which Eddie tried to copy. "Doubt he'll remember any of it, anyway. I know I don't want to."
Eddie winced at that.
"No, it's not you, it's just-" she huffed then shook her head. "Don't worry about it. Drive safe, Eddie."
And just like that, she was gone.
Eddie followed suit with Steve's voice echoing in his head, an overlapping manic cacophony of
"Your lips....they're bigger."
"Your eyes, though, they....th' look, look kinda brown like...like his."
"Dressed up like Munson? Y' look so cool, baby."
Two kisses because Steve thought Eddie was his girl.
And her best friend had seen the second.
Actual fucking kisses because Steve thought he was his.
Thought Eddie was his.
Said he tasted like smoke and peaches.
Eddie drove home in a daze.

“It’s cold." “I know. I know, but we’re going to be alright. Do you hear me? You’re alright now. You’re going to be okay.” “I want to go home.” “We can’t go back home. We’re—we’re orphans now, remember? Nobody’s waiting for us back there.”

soooo I have not watched BvS, and so when you mentioned the lake house in the Coral series, I was picturing a traditional lake house, like maybe a log cabin structure with some traditional furniture and so on. Partly why I was confused when you said Bruce pushed up the mattress against the windows to create some privacy and a “den” of sorts.
I finally googled it today and realized WHY it felt so exposed. Like, it’s literally a glass house. Like Phillip Johnson’s Glass House. I felt so dumb for not looking it up beforehand to understand what it looked like. When I googled it, I had to remind myself that the Glass House is in the middle of an open field of grass, not on the edge of the lake because they are so similar lol.
Don't feel dumb! I've been getting a lot of asks about that series and I've realized that I haven't been adding as many visual cues as I could for those who haven't seen BVS. I know it's kind of fallen out of style, but I sometimes debate just cobbling a moodboard/manip together just to prep people going in (for Lex's appearance, the lake house, etc).
The lake house itself is fascinating to me. There's a lot of symbolism wrapped into its appearance in BVS and what it says about Bruce, where he is, and what he's left behind.

I know my sketching skills leave a lot to be desired, but I've been thinking about creating a rough diagram of the nest as I envision it to help folks when they're reading ASOH. But again, my sketching skills need some more development first...

Lucky | Feysand
It was a throw away comment and Feyre knows it.
“Stop leaving glasses out!” Rhys had said, half laughing, tugging the end of her ponytail and dropping two cups and a mug into the sink.
Rhys makes her a cup of tea every evening, and it’s one of the hundred little ways that Feyre feels spoiled. She does like to keep a glass of water on the night stand, and where Tamlin hated it when she worked, Rhys has always supported her career. So they both leave early in the morning and more often than not, there’s a small collection of glassware in their bedroom.
It's completely fair that Rhys would prefer that she take them to the kitchen in the morning.
So why is it that the comment unsteadies her?
“I’m sorry,” Feyre says, and rushes to the sink. Her hands shake on the sponge. “My brain doesn’t function in the morning, I’ll remember to wash up before bed.” She goes for casual but it comes out breathless, and the Rhys looks over with a frown.
Maybe it’s because she’s been here for four weeks but doesn’t trust this yet.
Not Rhys- he’s been nothing but gorgeous, and patient, and kind. He’s so completely sure about her and in some ways that’s the most wonderful thing about him. And in some ways, it’s a lot of fucking pressure.
Rhys comes to stand behind her and puts his nose on her neck. Closes his fingers over her wrists until she stops moving, and wraps his arms around her waist.
“That’s fair,” he murmurs. “It’s not a real gripe.”
Some nights, Feyre lies awake in the dark, long after Rhys has fallen asleep, and tries to deep-breathe the fear away. It never works. But how can she tell him? It’s not his fault. The problems are all in her head.
“I’m sorry,” Feyre whispers, and she doesn’t mean the glasses.
She knows it’s not realistic, but it’s hard to fight the urge to be as perfect as possible, because she’s never had it so good, and the fact that it could break any day now is more than enough to keep her guts in permanent knots. She’s been holding her lips closed over the anxiety. She’s been trying so hard. She’s brittle enough that the shallow criticism lands like failure in her stomach.
“It’s okay,” Rhys murmurs. He picks up a tea towel and dries her hands, dragging her waist away from the sink. “You’re safe, honey.”
Sometimes Feyre forgets that Rhys does know. Knows better than most- after all, he’s known Tamlin longer than she has. Still, she’s both embarrassed and relieved that he can read her so easily.
“I didn’t mean it,” Rhys says. “Please leave cups in the room. It means you live here and that is so wonderful, to me.”
Rhys sits down on the couch and pulls her into his lap. Feyre hides her face in his chest and wishes, for the thousandth time, that she was better than this. That her fear of Tamlin’s anger would not be an unwelcome third in her and Rhys’s house.
“Hey,” Rhys whispers. “Don’t be sad, beautiful girl.” He slides his hand under her hair, and touches their foreheads together. “You’re okay.”
And then he kisses her, and it helps.
Feyre takes a deep breath, and kisses him back. It’s difficult to be here, it’s difficult to let herself be loved like this. But touching Rhys is always easy, and soon her fingers find his collar and his jaw and the raven curls at the back of his head. And she can feel him smile against her mouth when she tugs him closer.
“Does this help?” he asks. Feyre just nods, and kisses him again. The rough of Rhys’s palms walk up her back, under her shirt, until his hand rests behind her neck.
“I have less anxiety when you’re touching me,” she admits, and Rhys chuckles softly.
“That’s good,” he says, and in the next moment he’s lifted her up out of his lap and laid her back down on the couch cushions. He settles easily between her legs, and every time it’s a thrill to Feyre that he’s hard because of her. His mouth wanders from her lips to her throat to her collar bone and back up.
“I’m not mad,” he says, because that’s always what she’s afraid of and he knows it. “Of course I’m not, you’re such a good girl, how could I be?”
And like clockwork those two words make her brain slide, and her eyes close as his tongue travels the indent that runs from under her sternum to her navel.
“Please,” Feyre breathes. Rhys just looks up at her from under the ink of his eyelashes, and continues kissing down her stomach. “Please,” she says again, and this time he leans up and kisses her heavy on the mouth.
“That’s such a pretty word on your tongue,” he tells her. Feyre doesn’t respond, she’s concentrating on Rhys’s belt buckle and the button beneath it. He glances down, and then gives her a pitying look. “My poor darling,” he says. His teeth graze the corner of her jaw. “You need this, huh?”
Feyre wins her battle with Rhys’s zipper and slides her hand down the front of his jeans. She’s rewarded with a shudder that rips across his shoulders, and it only makes her melt further into the couch.
“Yes,” she whispers.
“You need it?” Rhys asks again. He grinds against her palm and she loves how even when he’s in control, he comes undone a little under her hands. “You need me to fuck it better?”
“Yes,” Feyre says again, and now she shoves his jeans the rest of the way off him, and Rhys pulls his shirt over his head in one motion. He gets his mouth on her throat and his hand on her breast, and Feyre’s limbs reach up and around him to pull him closer than skin. He drags her tights off, agonizingly slow, and then her shirt, and every inch that’s exposed is immediately pressed up against the warmth of him, searing but sweet.
“Tell me how much,” Rhys says, and it’s only the cotton of her underwear that’s between them when he rolls his hips against hers. Feyre closes her eyes, speaks against the slant of his cheek.
“Too much,” she says. He hooks her leg over his shoulder and Feyre’s back arches up off the couch. “And too often. You have no idea…” she trails off, trying to press up against Rhys as he moves all too slowly.
“Too often?” he asks. His fingers drift down, toying with the waistband of her panties.
“All the time,” she gasps. Her hands scrabble on his shoulders as he drags the elastic down over her hips.
“I wish you’d tell me.” He starts to kiss down over her breasts, but Feyre pulls him back up to her lips and slide her tongue against his. He groans softly in her mouth, and she pulls her knees up the sides of his ribcage, digs her heels into base of his back. “I wish you’d lean over, while we’re watching TV, and tell me how bad…” here Rhys pauses to draw a shaky breath because Feyre is wet against his naked cock, “…you need to be fucked.”
“I’m telling you now,” Feyre argues, and lifts her hips to prove her point.
“You are,” Rhys concedes, and presses up against heat of her. “And you’re doing such a good job.” He pushes inside her, and Feyre’s head drops back against the cushions. She breathes in, and it feels like a long time she’s been holding her breath. “Look at me,” Rhys says, and when she opens her eyes he’s watching her face change when he moves out and back in. His hips punch forward when she meets the violet of his gaze, and Feyre gasps.
“That’s it baby,” Rhys murmurs. “Keep looking at me.”
It’s easier said than done- Rhys’s eyes scald her and every time their hips touch her mind slides.
“Come on honey, you can do it.”
Feyre’s eyes snap open, but somehow there’s five hundred years in that stare and it’s a lot to bear. She tips her head back and throws her arm over her face.
And then Rhys’s fingers close over her throat, and it’s strange that this makes her feel safer, that it always makes her feel safer when he’s holding her down because every other moment she’s on the verge of floating away altogether.
“Is that better?” Rhys asks. His eyes darken above her, and she loves knowing that he likes her like this.
“Yes,” she breathes, and his grip tightens.
“You’re so good,” he tells her. “My good girl.”
Feyre can’t help it, she moans at the praise and the sound pushes Rhys’s pace up. This time when her eyes squeeze shut he lets her. Sits up on his heels to get a deeper angle and puts his teeth on her ankle.
“You want to be good for me, don’t you?” Rhys asks. He slides his thumb against her tongue for a second, before touching it to her clit. She can’t answer, because he keeps his rhythm while he talks to her and it’s knocking the breath from her lungs. “You look so pretty like this, baby.” His eyes rake over her, hooded and muddled, and there’s nothing quite so intoxicating as watching him look at her.
Rhys leans his forearms on either side of her face and leans down over her. Feyre’s hands come up automatically to follow the muscles of his back. She thinks he’ll kiss her, but when she tilts her face up he just flicks his eyes down to her mouth and then back up. He slows down now, moves in long, languid strokes that make Feyre feel like she’s drowning.
“You know,” he murmurs. “You can always tell me if you need this.” This time he does kiss her, and the next time he speaks it’s right next to her ear. “I’d drop everything and bend you over. Empty your head just like you like.”
Feyre‘s nails dig into Rhys’s shoulders and he shifts again, moving fast now and breathing shallow.
“Come on baby,” he says, and she can hear the strain in his voice. “Feel good for me.”
She doesn’t need to be told, he always feels good and today is no exception. Not when the snap of his hips makes a steady undertow that she is fast being dragged in by, not when the smell of him this close is enough to drive her to distraction, not when she can feel him start to chase his own release and knows that she’s the one making him feel like this.
“Give it to me,” she whispers. “I want it, want to feel you…”
But Rhys just laughs and shakes his head. “You first, angel.”
Feyre is tempted to see if she can make him lose control, but the way he moves is too good to ignore. And, she’s never one to pass up an opportunity to show him how good she can be.
“Right now,” Rhys says, under her ear, and honestly it’s so easy with him. Feyre breaks in between one breath and the next, and it’s a thing that wrings her out over and over in the cage of Rhys’s arms. It’s somewhere in the aftershocks that Rhys comes too, and she hasn’t told him but this is the part to Feyre that feels so intense she never quite feels like she’ll survive it. But of course she does, and minutes later the world filters back in and the couch cushions are scratchy against her back and there is sweat in Rhys’s hair and her heart is still beating painfully hard in her chest.
And Feyre feels calm, in this moment, which is rare but increasing. She presses her nose against Rhys’s forehead, where he’s half dozing on her chest, and tries to remember the feeling of it, because there will be a next time that she feels anxious and afraid, but if she’s very lucky, and she has been very lucky, there will also be a next time for this part right here, and that makes everything worthwhile.

Maybe one where reader and Jesse are in an established relationship-she and Jesse are spending the night in babysitting Michelle and her friends. One of Michelle’s friends has a huge crush on the reader and doesn’t like Jesse one bit so he spends all night playing silly pranks on Jesse whenever he and the reader are being cute together. Honestly, I’ll read any Jesse x reader prompt you write lmao I love your writing style and I’ve been rewatching Full House and falling in love with Jesse again! Thank you in advance and I apologize if the prompt is silly ❤️

‘Hey Danny,’ Y/N said as she stepped in the front door. She was drenched and given the sound of the rain pounding the street outside it was no wonder why. ‘No bother,’ Danny said helping her out of her long coat so he could hang it up, ‘I’m only due to leave in five minutes anyway.’ ‘Actually, I think you should leave now. I only live 10 minutes away and it took me half an hour to get here the weather’s that bad,’ Y/N said. ‘Are you sure? I mean Jesse’s not home yet it’ll just be you and the kids,’ Danny said. ‘You know I can look after the kids without Jess right?’ Y/N chuckled causing Danny to look at her rather sheepish. ‘Actually, it’s not just my kids,’ Danny said. ‘It’s not? How many are there?’ Y/N said now worried. ‘Oh, only one more. Michelle’s friend Cody from down the street. And Steph and DJ are out for the night so don’t be too worried,’ Danny said. ‘Phew,’ Y/N said. ‘Yeah it’s funny actually,’ Danny said as he started to don his coat, ‘once Michelle found out it was you and Jess babysitting tonight she practically insisted on having her friend round.’ ‘I hope they’re not planning on running amuck,’ Y/N giggled, ‘you know how much of a pushover Jess is when it comes to her.’ ‘Well, that’s why I made sure you were included. He listens to you,’ Danny said. ‘If you think he’ll take my side over his lil munchkin you’re mistaken pal,’ Y/N said just as Michelle and Cody came through from the kitchen.
‘Hi Y/N,’ Michelle said with a smile. ‘Hey guys,’ Y/N replied with a smile as Michelle took a seat on the couch. Cody waved at the woman and then took a seat beside Michelle the two of them instantly knitting their heads together in hushed whispers. ‘Now listen you two I want you to be good tonight,’ Danny said. ‘We will,’ Michelle said. ‘And just because you’re being babysat tonight doesn’t mean the rules are any different,’ Danny reiterated. ‘We know,’ Michelle said. ‘And be nice to Y/N,’ Danny finished. ‘We will,’ Cody said looking at Y/N with a small smile. ‘They know,’ Y/N said, ‘come on you make a move or you will be late.’
Y/N shepherded Danny to the door as he put his coat on in a hurry. He was still rambling as Y/N pushed him out the door. She turned to look at the two young ones on the couch with a smile and said, ‘right who wants to order a pizza?’
The night was going swimmingly. The kids had wanted to watch a movie and eat pizza so Y/N had ordered and they had all curled up on the sofa with the sounds only the sounds of Disney and the rain outside. Michelle had told her all about her day at school. She loved Michelle. Out of all of Jesse’s, her boyfriend, family the littlest Tanner had been the one she was most afraid to meet. But since they had met many months ago the pair of them had been great friends. Michelle had taken a minute to come around to her but eventually, they had both realised that anyone who loved Jesse as much as they did couldn’t be too bad. Cody on the other hand hadn’t said much. Instead spent his time sitting beside Y/N watching her quietly with a smile.
As the credits rolled on the Little Mermaid Y/N sat up properly and stretched reaching out for the plates and the empty pizza boxes on the coffee table. ‘Right,’ Y/N said, ‘you two put something on the TV whilst I clean this place up okay?’
As she stood up and walked to the kitchen Michelle launched herself onto the floor and started chattering away, reaming off TV shows for Cody to choose from. Y/N walked into the kitchen and placed everything on the side as she walked to the fridge. She opened it looking for something to satiate her sweet tooth. As her eyes roved over its contents she felt a pair of arms come around her.
‘Hey,’ Y/N murmured recognising that touch in an instant. ‘Hey,’ Jesse said kissing her neck as his arms squeeze her middle tightly. ‘What time do you call this?’ she said turning around and raising a questioning eyebrow at him. His blue eyes twinkled as he smiled at her. ‘Later than I planned but they needed me at the club,’ he said leaning in to kiss her on the lips, ‘can you forgive me?’ ‘I don’t know,’ she said kissing him back, ‘kiss me again and I’ll start thinking about it?’
Jesse chuckled as their lips met again. Y/N’s arms wrapped around his back her fingers running through his hair as if it was a reflex. Jesse pulled her closer as the two of them got lost in the kiss. Suddenly, reality crashed around them as they heard the sound of a glass being put on the counter.
‘Gross,’ Michelle said as she put her cup down. She and Cody were standing in the kitchen both watching the couple with horrified looks. ‘Hey munchkin,’ Jesse said immediately swinging out of boyfriend and into Uncle mode as he ran over and gave her a hug. She hugged him quickly as Y/N quickly sorted out the debris she had left on the counter feeling red in the face. As she did she noticed Cody watching her with a pout.
‘Uncle Jesse, can we watch who framed Roger Rabbit?’ Michelle said. ‘Sure munchkin,’ Jesse said. ‘I don’t know Jess,’ Y/N said, ‘it’s getting late. I said we should watch TV not another film.’ ‘Please uncle Jesse,’ Michelle said with a pout. Jesse looked between his girlfriend and his niece who were both watching him carefully. ‘How about we watch one more film and then straight to bed? But you gotta promise you’ll go straight to bed okay?’ Jesse said. Michelle punched the air and agreed running back into the other room to set up dragging Cody behind her.
‘Don’t say anything,’ Jesse said as Y/N came to him shaking her head. ‘I wasn’t going to,’ she said as she grabbed hold of his elbow pulling him towards the living room, ‘but I better hold on to you, you know just in case you hit the deck from being such a pushover.’ ‘I am not a pushover,’ Jesse said as they entered the living room where Michelle had already got the titles rolling.
‘Sure you’re not,’ Y/N said. She stopped in her tracks as they reached the couch as she spotted that Cody and Michelle were sitting in the middle of the couch leaving no room for the adults to sit together. Y/N leaned back towards Jesse who had now stopped behind her and whispered, ‘how about you get them to move then?’ ‘Hey guys how about-’ Jesse started though Cody cut him off. ‘You can sit here,’ Cody said patting the seat beside him. ‘Actually buddy-’ Jesse said. ‘Sit down uncle Jesse you’re blocking the TV!’ Michelle said. Y/N chuckled as she sat down next to the younger man, ‘thank you, Cody.’
As Y/N settled down on the opposite side of the couch to her boyfriend she heard a yelp and watched as Jesse leapt up off of the couch spinning around frantically as Cody and Michelle burst into giggles. ‘What’s the matter?’ Y/N said as Jesse started looking at the seat of his pants which was now covered in pizza stains. ‘I sat in pizza!’ Jesse grumbled, ‘and these are my best jeans.’ ‘Just take them off and I’ll throw them in the washer.’
Jesse nodded and headed back to the kitchen Y/N in tow. Once they had disappeared out of sight Michelle and Cody leapt up off the couch and ran to the door making sure the adults were distracted.
‘You’re right,’ Michelle giggled, ‘that was funny.’ ‘I told you,’ Cody said. ‘What else can we do?’ she said. ‘I have an idea,’ Cody whispered. And then the two of them got to work.
‘Right,’ Y/N said coming back into the living room, ‘where were we?’ She came and sat back down next to the kids who were now giggling to one another, ‘what are you two laughing at?’ ‘The movie,’ the pair said in unison. Y/N eyed them suspiciously but accepted their story as she sat back to watch the film.
A couple of minutes later she heard Jesse coming onto the landing. She turned her head to look at him, now dressed in sweatpants, and smiled as he started to descend the stairway but as soon as he was there he was gone. He clattered down the stairs hitting everyone on the way down before landing at the bottom of the stairs in a heap.
‘Damn it,’ Jesse said as he lay at the bottom of the stairs. ‘What the hell happened?’ Y/N said as she rushed to his side. Michelle and Cody climbed up on the couch to look over in fits of giggling. ‘This damn thing,’ Jesse said as he fished a roller skate out from behind him. ‘Are you okay?’ Y/N said helping him up. ‘Yeah,’ he grumbled, ‘knock it off you two.’ ‘But it was funny uncle Jesse!’ Michelle said. ‘She’s not wrong,’ Y/N said earning a scowl from her other half, ‘I’m just saying.’
As she got Jesse to the couch Cody and Michelle climbed down. ‘Why don’t the pair of you go and play in your room?’ Jesse said wincing as he sat down. ‘But you said we could watch a movie!’ Cody protested. ‘Yeah well that was before I almost broke my neck on Steph’s roller skates,’ Jesse said. ‘Jess is right guys,’ Y/N said, ‘go and play in your room okay?’
The pair of them stomped off up the stairs that Jesse had just fallen down as he lay down on the couch. Y/N perched on the seat, ‘are you okay?’ ‘Yeah I just don’t know what happened,’ Jesse said, ‘I moved Steph’s skates this morning.’ ‘Maybe she used them today?’ Y/N said. ‘No, she’s been at her friend’s all day. I dropped her off,’ Jesse said. ‘You think it wasn’t an accident?’ ‘You take a life insurance policy out on me that I don’t know about?’ Jesse laughed. ‘Like anyone would pay money for you,’ Y/N said. ‘Hey I am a catch,’ he smirked. ‘A catch with a bad back,’ Y/N said leaning down to kiss him. He kissed her back his fingers dancing along her chin. ‘Not fair,’ he said as she pulled back out of his reach. ‘Well, we’re still on duty. How about I go and make sure the kids are in bed and then we can continue our movie night…in bed,’ she smiled getting up and heading towards the stairs chuckling as she heard Jesse sigh, ‘have mercy.’
As Y/N made her way upstairs she could hear giggling coming from Michelle’s room which was then followed by a loud scurrying no doubt them leaping into bed. She smiled to herself but as she reached for the door her smile disappeared as all of a sudden there was a crash as water rained down on her.
There was a fit of giggles and the sound of running up the stairs as she realised what had happened. ‘What’s going on here?’ Jesse said immediately bursting out laughing which was joined by Michelle. ‘Jess it’s not funny!’ Y/N said elbowing him. He winced but his mirth didn’t disappear quick enough for her liking. ‘You’re right,’ Jesse said with a smile, ‘Michelle it’s not funny.’ ‘What on earth possessed you to do this?’ Y/N chastised. ‘It was a prank,’ Michelle said. ‘Well, it’s not very nice!’ Y/N grumbled. ‘It was Cody’s idea!’ Michelle said, ‘they all were!’ ‘You agreed!’ Cody said. ‘All?’ Jesse said. ‘Wait was the roller skate your idea too?’ Y/N said looking at the young boy, ‘you know you really could’ve hurt somebody! How could you be so stupid!’ ‘I was just trying to get you to like me!’ he said and then he jumped out of bed and shoved past the two adults who were standing in the doorway. ‘What the-’ Y/N started but Jesse cut her off. ‘I think I know what’s going on. I’ll sort it,’ Jesse said and he quickly turned around and followed him out the door. Jesse left the room and headed to the bathroom and knocked on the door gently.
‘Go away,’ Cody said as the door knob turned and the door opened gently. Jesse stepped into the bathroom to find the young boy sitting on the tiled floor. He sighed and sat down beside him trying to ignore the snotty whimpers coming from the kid.
‘I don’t want to talk to you,’ Cody said. ‘I know,’ Jesse said, ‘you don’t like me right?’
Cody looked at Jesse but he didn’t say anything.
‘Because you like Y/N right? Like, like-like her?’ Jesse said looking at Cody’s face. It was red now and his eyes were bloodshot. He nodded. ‘I just wanted her to like me,’ he admitted dropping his gaze as he fiddled with the bath mat underneath them both. ‘Hey, I get it, man. Sometimes love makes us guys a bit nuts,’ Jesse said, ‘my first week around her I could barely speak. I wanted her to like me so bad.’ ‘How did you do it?’ Cody asked perking up a little. ‘Well I’ll tell you how not to,’ he said looking at Cody who looked at him his eyes wide egging him on, ‘Pranking me? That’s not going to work.’ ‘Why not it made her laugh?’ Cody argued. ‘Yeah, but it can go wrong. Someone could get hurt,’ Jesse said. ‘So how did you get Y/N to like you?’ Cody asked. ‘I was myself. I try to make her happy. I make sure my hair looks amazing every day,’ Jesse chuckled bumping his shoulder on the boys. ‘So if I do all that she’ll like me?’ ‘Yeah,’ Jesse said, ‘but I gotta ask that you don’t.’ ‘Why?’ Cody replied. ‘Because there’s no way I can compete with you,’ Jesse said.
Cody seemed to mull it over for a moment and then he nodded. ‘Fine,’ he said as he stood up, ‘I think I’ll get Michelle to like me instead.’

House M.D. but it's when Wilson says House's name

Hello! I have come asking for you to info-dump about the the modern human au. I full of brain rot of them (especially after the last thing you posted about them, damn) Maybe you can tell us a bit more Sally!!
lucky for you, i've been full of that good ol brainrot As Well! thoughts! feelings! ideas! i got em!
so since we're already on the subject of the Crash Arc, allow me to expand on it for a moment before i get to Sally Thinkings! if you've read the snippet, you may have noticed the extent of Wally's injuries was not listed yet. well! he got messed up with a capital F! since it's fiction and i'm god in this scenario, i'm veering slightly away from realistic damage, immediate & lasting. bc lets be real. if i stuck to "this is as realistic as i can make it", then Wally would be aaaaaabsolutely fucked. it was a bad crash in a very unsafe vehicle at high speeds. like - this is what happened. a drunk driver hit Home going 70 down the freeway. swerve, fishtail, tumble down a (small, shallow, really its more like a glorified ditch) ravine with trees and rocks and shit on it. absolute miracle that Wally didn't die in the crash, let alone during the solid half hour (slightly longer) he was trapped in Home before someone noticed the crash site and called emergency personnel. Wally "hanging up" on Barnaby was actually the impact jarring him so he slipped and hit the end call button. but yeah without going into technicalities and detail, Wally has some lasting damage in his dominant hand. It takes extensive physical therapy for him to be able to paint/draw again at the same level he had been at. the hematoma hadn't done a lot of brain damage that wouldn't resolve itself with time. in my mind, when Wally wakes up in the hospital, for a few days he's very confused and his memory is shot. he'll wake up, interact, then go to sleep, but when he wakes up again its like waking up for the first time again. he just can't retain memories for a bit. he's got some severe brain fog. his mood is also kinda fucked with - he's uncharacteristically irritable with low patience, etc. these are all things that clear up with time, but in my mind Wally has chronic migraines going forward. bad ones! and there are days where it's harder fr him to concentrate. and yk. a teeny bit of chronic pain where his shin bone was pinned back together and where his hand was essentially crushed. but other than that he's fine going forward! good days and bad days!
but enough about that! You Want To Hear About Sally!
i imagine that she becomes quite successful in the theater industry. i'm not too familiar with it myself, so i'm gonna be uh. Vague about it? but she starts her own theater troupe - it's a bit of a commute from home base to the town she works in, where the theater is located in, but she makes it work! of the group, she's probably away more than any of them. working on shows, traveling to work on other ones - i like to think she's been on Broadway! she probably has had opportunities to do tv/movie acting, but idk... i feel like Sally would be like "nah. live shows or nothing". maybe at some point she takes up voice acting gigs, as long as she can do them from home. she probably has her own little room-turned-VA-studio thing. idk how that works either! it seems right! but yes Howdy's store's automated messages and advertisements are in Sally's voice. she's probably picked up a temporarily modeling gig here and there.
so Sally is very very busy. Poppy is supportive. everyone is, and they all love to help out when they can - and reel Sally in when the "stardom" starts to get to her head. they do their best to acclimate to occasionally getting jumpscared by her voice in a grocery store or in. idk. fashion shoots. victoria's secret billboards. that last one was a joke! maybe. i think she would.
i also like to imagine Sally like... getting some sort of award and then spending a solid five minutes naming her friends, thanking them with specificity, and then plugging their own stuff. they probably have a rotation for who accompanies her as her plus one for events and parties she may or may not be invited to. she's not like... a Big celebrity but! she's Known and Liked! she has Connections! i like to imagine her and Wally looking dapper as fuck at a Venue...
so the friend group typically stays together, with Sally going off to do her Things the most. she makes sure to schedule time to be with her friends and girlfriend/wife/Poppy between work and gigs and etc. she somehow finds a balance with Ease. or apparent ease... someone get this girl a vacation...

the sea and the sky and you and i
relationships: gregory house/james wilson words: 8k summary: Wilson keeps secrets, and House avoids him. Everyone said House was gonna be the death of him.
Wilson gives himself six months to live. It’s not the worst prognosis he’s ever given. He goes through all the regular emotions, starting with pissed off and ending up mostly resigned. Everyone said House was going to be the death of him. This is probably what he deserves.
So he goes to work. He meets with patients. He does his clinic hours. He avoids House, but not enough to look suspicious. He goes home to the condo, he goes to bed early. He wakes up and does it all again. The good news is that these last sixth months are going to feel like forever. And House has always called Wilson an optimist.
The nights are too long this time of year. Wilson spends hours in bed, staring at his ceiling. Especially now. He feels feverish, a lot of the time, and it makes it hard to sleep, too warm under the blankets, too clammy to go without. He sometimes wakes up with blood in his mouth. The petals aren’t too frequent so far, and he’s yet to choke out a whole flower, which confirms he was right about his timeline. For now, he has some discomfort, some inconvenience, some moderate humiliation. Things could be worse.

House M.D. One-shot
Tw suicide Tw self-harm Tw assisted suicide Tw Overdosing Tw Drug Use
House keeps living after Wilson's death just so he can keep his promise to Thirteen.
He struggles after Wilson's death, seeking comfort in drugs and alcohol, anything he could get his hands on.
He laughs to himself one night, thinking, "They all thought I had a problem with the pills. Look at me now. A proper addict."
He floats around, never staying in the same spot too long, just trying to survive from one high to the next. When the drugs aren't doing enough, he takes to other forms of self-harm. What's it matter if he can't use his hand properly anymore after breaking it so many times? Nothing matters anymore. His leg hurts, his hand hurts, his head hurts, his heart fucking hurts.
He lives on the edge, breaking the law every single day but never exposing himself enough to risk getting arrested again. The closest he gets to anyone from his old life is when he stands in the back of Wilson's funeral. Wilson's mom is crying, and House feels like he should say something, but he can't bring himself to step up and speak to her. He overdoses that night, multiple hard drugs running through his veins.
He hallucinates Wilson. His wavy brown hair and big brown eyes, throwing out some witty remark. House overdoses again, this time on purpose after that, just to see Wilson. He's living on borrowed time.
Every time he sees Wilson, he wants to grab his shoulders and cry.
"I was supposed to go with you."
"I promise I'm coming."
House doesn't believe in an afterlife, but when he's sprawled out on the dirty floor of some abandoned building high out of his mind, he likes to pretend that he'll see Wilson again. House died when Wilson did, and all the important parts of him left with him.
Weeks drag out into months, and months drag out into years. House has no idea when it is. Time means nothing once you're dead. Eventually, he figures it must have been enough days, enough months, enough years, for him to find her.
Thirteen looks almost as bad as House does once he comes face to face with her for the first time in years. She stands huddled at the door, nothing but skin and bones and an oversized sweatshirt. Her face is shrunken in, and her hands are shaking, and she stares at the man outside her door with awe.
House doesn't remember when the last time he shaved was. The years of hard drug use have taken their toll, and he would wager that he weighs less than Thirteen does. He looks like a dead man, and at first, Thirteen thinks she's seeing a ghost.
"Looks like I'm right on time." Even his voice sounds different, hoarse and gravely and broken. It shocks Thirteen out of her stupor, though, and she knows immediately what he's referring to. "We thought you were dead."
"I am."
"God House, what have you been doing?"
"Waiting for you. I made you a promise, didn't I?"
A look of understanding crosses her face. "I guess you are right on time." She's ready. She's been ready for a long time. The disease has progressed to the point that it's taken over her life. She's got nothing left. She's said goodbye to everybody already, planning to take matters into her own hands.
She lets House in, and then she starts to laugh. She can't stop laughing. Tears roll down her face, and her cheeks turn red, and her face hurts. House looks at her fondly. He's always felt paternal towards her.
Once she composes herself, she answers the question she knows he wants to ask.
"It's just - I don't know how you knew, but you did. I already picked today."
House smirks, it looks more like a grimace, but the intent it there. "I guess I'm just that good."
Thirteen has more then enough drugs, and when House brings them all out, she looks at him knowingly. She ends up laying on the couch, both of them quiet as he injects the drugs into her bloodstream. House lays on the floor after that, using the rest on himself.
They wait in silence until Thirteen speaks suddenly. "Do you think there's any chance of a heaven? Honestly. None of that bullshit edgy stuff you used to always say."
House doesn't answer right away, and when he does, his speech is slurred, the drugs finally settling in. "I hope so. I hope he's there."
His body feels heavy, and he struggles to move. It takes a few tries, but eventually, he manages to reach up and catch Thirteens' hand in his own, lacing their fingers together.
His time is up.
