I really love reading all those genshin fanfics with Fontaine’s characters but sometimes, as a french, I am a bit trigger by the way some people write wrongly some french words… I saw a « Mon chéri » to designate a female reader…
Here a free french lesson:
Mon - is a masculine pronoun
So when you say « Mon chéri » it’s toward a male character
If you want to designate a girl you have to use the female pronoun : Ma
And so the full sentence is « Ma chériE »
Do not forget to put the « E » at the end because it’s a girl for a guy, no need to.
And if you want to designate severate persons:
- You use the pronoun : Mes
You can use it to definite both girls/boys/girls and boys /Any genders together!
BUT
Be careful if you want to say « Mes chéris »
You will need to put the E if it’s a group of girls : « Mes chéries »
If It’s a group of boys and girls do not put the E Because the male win so just write: « Mes chéris »
If you want to use it for the pronoun « Them » feel free use any versions.
Well everything I said works for any genders, and are masculine word so you don’t use the Ma.
To conclude:
MA : Female Pronoun - Use only to designate a female word or person.
Examples: Ma fleur (My flower), Ma princesse (My princess), Ma choupette (My little One? There isn’t a real translation but it’s a sweet french nickname you can say to your lover), Ma moitié (My half), Ma copine(My girlfriend), Ma femme (My wife, My woman)…
The word my Ma moitié works to designate any gender.
MON: Male Pronoun - Use to designate a male word or person. Is the most utilisate!
Examples: Mon coeur (my heart or sweetheart), Mon amour (My love), Mon ange (My angel), Mon bébé (my baby), Mon sucre d’orge (My candy… but it’s like ma choupette doesn’t have a real translation), Mon choupinet (My little one?), Mon copain (My boyfriend), Mon homme/Mon Mari (My man/My husband)
All those words are usable to designate any gender expect for Mon copain/Mon homme/Mon mari
MES: Them pronoun or to designate severate persons or stuffs !
Examples: Mes amours (My loves), Mes princesses (My princess), Mes copains (My boyfriends), Mes copines (My girlfriends)…
Do not forget to put the « S » at the end of each word!
[Update] - (forgot to say it..) MON/MA/MES are possessive pronouns! So you only use them to say something for yourself !
Examples: J’aime ma copine (I love my girlfriend)/ Ce sont mes amis (Those are my friends)/ Je lis mon livre (I read my book)
You can also use the word « Petit » (little) between the pronoun and the word, personally I find it a bit more romantic and sweet to use like: Mon petit coeur (My Little heart), Mon petit ange (My little angel), Ma petitE fleur (My little flower), Ma petit(e)-ami(e)(My girfriend/boyfriend), Mon petit sucre d’orge, Mes petits coeurs (My little hearts)…

I just realised that thunder/storms in French mean love at for sight,
And that is what happens to Benedict and Sophie when they meat for the second time (I don’t think it was intentional though)
more lightening bolt than thunderstorms...
coup de foudre has a literal and a figurative meaning, though the latter is more common within the english language.
Figuratively, un coup de foudre indicates “love at first sight,” which I think makes perfect sense an for Benedict and Sophie is very appropriate as in RMB Daphne talks about it being like a "lightening bolt" because of the way Benedict has clearly described the feeling of falling in love with Sophie at some point...
but it's literal meaning is is a “bolt of lightning” or “thunderbolt"
i love being able to share my french degree and my knowledge in the most random of places haha
I think i might have to steal this for a title of a future Benophie fic haha

I am amazed by the fact my little french lesson about MON/MA/MES got so much success and helpful for some of you!
I am to the point to think if I should write a new lesson every day for people who like to include in their fanfics or for the ones who would like to learn french…

One thing I haven’t heard being talked about yet is that you just feel completely differently about music when you actually understand the lyrics. Some french songs I used to LOVE just don’t hit the same anymore, and others are so much more special because I can understand the gist upon the first listen. Persistent language learning never runs out of rewards <3

Let's Talk About Girly-Kei Substyle Names!
Since this style has been gaining some popularity in j-fashion communities, I wanted to do a small lesson on how to refer to different styles of girly-kei. I've noticed some strange names being assigned to this style, and I want to clear up any misunderstandings people may have about these terms.
There are many labels people put on this fashion style, but for some reason it's anything but girly. It's understandable how some terms could be mistaken for the name of the fashion, especially since some stereotypes associated with these styles have heavily contributed to the wrong terminology being used. Examples of terms that have been associated with girly-kei are...
Ryousangata: (meaning a "mass-produced" type of person, who's heavily involved in wota culture)
J*rai-kei: (a stereotype referring to an emotionally unstable person who "explodes like a landmine".)
Subcul: (It used to have the meaning of "poser" in Japan, but nowadays it is used to refer to any type of alternative fashion. While this one is more harmless, it doesn't do any good to refer to a style that already has a name as just "subcul fashion")
In the girly-kei community, we label these colour combos a bit similarly to lolita substyles. So, let's name some some girly styles that have been getting popular!
Sweet Girly: This style consists of sweeter elements, such as ruffles, bows, hearts, and cute prints. Sometimes, you can find sweet girly sweaters with plushie embroidery! Bijou details are also popular with this style, as the jewels seem to compliment the overall cuteness of these outfits!
Dark Girly: This style focuses on more darker/edgier elements, and these outfits seem to have a more gothic look to it. Characteristics such as chains, leather, and religious imagery can be found in this substyle. Despite the name of this substyle, the clothes don't need to have a dark colour palette. Just as long as they fit the criteria!
French Girly: This style is meant to resemble a more European style of fashion! This elegant style also maintains a sense of simplicity, as their silhouettes and designs tend to be neat. As you can see, berets are especially popular in this substyle, but other accessories such as pearls, gold jewelry, and hairbands are also used in these outfits.
I find that among girly discourse, some argue that "girly-kei" is way too broad of a term, but that's where you can have fun with your outfits! It's not a requirement to specifically adhere to a certain substyle when wearing girly-kei fashion, and honestly just wear what makes you happy! A lot of these substyles can overlap as a result, which can create pretty cool outfits!
Referring to these substyles by their proper name not only sounds nicer, but it can help erase stigma around wearing girly fashion as a whole.
