I don't know what you expected but I am still not done talking about the infamous fifth episode of the What If...? show.

Spoiler warnings ahead.

Throughout the episode, while trying to pull Steve out of the mind control, Peggy keeps repeating "Steve, this isn't you, wake up" an abnormal amount of times. It's actually sickening how lacking the scriptwriting is, at least for her character.

Bucky interacts with Steve for barely a minute and even then, his efforts to get Steve back display a wider vocabulary than Peggy's throughout the whole episode.

Furthermore, I'd like to break down and compare Steve's words to Bucky and CATWS, and Peggy's words to Steve in What If...?

Steve: "I'm not gonna fight you," and here he drops the shield into the river below, "you're my friend."

Moments later, as Bucky nearly punches him to death, saying "YOU'RE! MY! MISSION!", Steve's calm, collected response is "then finish it, cause I'm with you till the end of the line."

Yes, tear-jerking, we know. Let's move on.

Peggy, having gone up against Steve in a huge (around the same size as the armour Tony built in the cave) metal suit, made of plutonium or something, and still standing straight up, says:

"I don't want to fight you, I can't fight you anymore. I'm done fighting, I've been fighting for so long, to end the war, to forget what I lost...I'm tired. Steve, I want to be with you. I want you, even if this is the end."

Keeping aside the frustrating repetition of the word "fight" in just a few lines of Peggy's speech, let's look at the motivation behind both the dialogues.

Peggy talks about herself. About how she is tired of the war and of losing people, how she tries to forget how Steve isn't in her life anymore, about how she wants to be with him. Her entire purpose is not to save him, but to save him for herself. Her actions come from a selfish point of view, and by the time she says this, she is far from being as battered and bruised as MCU Steve. In fact, she gets away with just a couple of bruises at the most.

On the other hand, Steve's intention was to free Bucky from Hydra's torture, to protect his childhood best friend and lover. He had been shot multiple times, stabbed at least once, had his skin split open in several areas when he dropped the final bombshell. Steve was nearly dying while he was saying all that; yes he would've loved a second chance at life with Bucky by his side, but it was never his primary focus.

His primary focus was making sure Bucky had a second chance at life, even if he himself died trying. It was as if to say "I may die right here right now, but I love you too much to hurt you any further than I already have. You've always been more dear to me than life itself, so if your mission is truly to kill me, you know I'll support you in it even as you're taking my last breath out of me. All I ask for is your safety and well-being."

And it shows in the consequences too - in CATWS, Bucky not only regains just enough of his memories to stop, but also pulls Steve out of the Potomac before he can drown to death and places him somewhere he knows Sam and Nat and the others will easily spot him.

On the contrary, Hydra Stomper Steve barely shows any affection, shock or remorse towards the woman in front of him, but instead, he flies up to the Red Room and destroys it. It is unclear whether he survives the crash himself.

Like I said before, despite Marvel trying their absolute hardest to push StevePeggy as the superior pairing, they still end up portraying Steve and Bucky's (I say romantic, because Steggy mirroring Stucky proves the latter to be a romance) bond to be far stronger than that of Steve with a woman he only knew for a couple of years at most during a world war.

They dug their own grave and cannot crawl their way out of it. Stucky prevails.

Danny is the rightful Ghost King, but since he's not of age he needs a regent who is a) his species, b) his family, and c) an adult. The only adult haftas are Vlad or this Red Hood guy from Gotham that he's never heard of. Since Vlad is not going to happen looks like it's Red Hood, now how to make the guy count as family...

Jason has had a lot of weird shit happen to him over the years but a woman tracking him down as Red Hood to propose a temporary political marriage so he can be regent of a death dimension until her brother is old enough to rule in his own name is a new one for him. Of course he accepted. The only other option was apparently a creepy uncle figure. He's read enough romance to know a forced marriage of a woman to her creepy uncle never ends well. A forced marriage of a woman to a crime lord doesn't usually end much better, but he's ignoring that for now. He's going to woo and romance his spit fire of a wife with respect, spontaneous poetry, his damn good cooking, and by not being a Darcy. And he is going to rock not just this whole regent thing, but also and more importantly the mentoring her brother and his new ward on how to rule this dimension. Competence is always attractive. He runs a tight ship in his crime empire, surely running a dimension can't be that much harder.

He actually already has a plan on how he's going to handle the whole 'The USA declared war on the dimension he's regent of' thing. It's simple really he goes to the next family dinner and causes chaos. The faces everyone will make will be glorious when he drops that he's lord regent of a dimension, the USA is at war with his dimension, and it's such a shame that no one can meet Jason's wife or ward till there is a peace treaty. Then he just needs to sit back and watch the entertainment as his siblings realize he has forever won the position of favorite child by being the first married and first to give Bruce a grandkid. Also you know the chaos of Bruce willing to wage a one man war if necessary so he can meet his grandson. Jason figures it will take at most a month for the government to cave.

And like a cherry on top he's going to get on a medical treatment plan for the pit. Everything is looking great for him.

Finally...we have come to my dearest couple of all time 😌 There many kind of relationships, certainly, not many can compare to the sweetness of Usokaya. They understand and trust each other. They have dreams of their own and support each other to follow them. They care for each other and would do anything in their power to protect the other. So different yet so similar. Without a doubt: they are like a match made in heaven 😊 When I started watchin ONE PIECE, I really enjoyed Ussop's introduction arc and more than anything, his relationship with Kaya. There are much better arcs later in the series certainly, but I cant help but come back to this in particular from time to time and most of the reason why is because of these two 🤭 Many years have passed and yet I haven't found any other couple that makes me feel so much positive thinks like Usokaya. my unpopular opinion is that imogen/fearne would be more interesting at this point in the campaign than imogen/laudna. Not saying that's it's more likely (than any ship, frankly), just that i find the pieces more compelling

Agreed! What if we were both Ruidusborn and dealt with parental abandonment as a direct result of that and were in the process of learning how to treat other people well instead of acting mostly on our own whims/convenience and had only just recently left home and were figuring out where we fit into a world that is incredibly exciting but at times makes us uncomfortable and we were both girls.

Does it matter if it’s LawLu or LuLaw?

Top/Bottom heated discussions feels so irritating! Especially when it’s about fictional people who have less than 0.00001% chance of being an end couple in canon.

Heteronormative projection on “queer-sex” aside, the whole thing feels like people have a very juvenile understanding of what sex is! When we evaluate and present sex and participation in sexual activities from the tinted lenses of penetration we are limiting sex to one category: intercourse! But the End goal of sex is mutual pleasure and excitement.

Some people can get orgasm with nipple stimulation. Some people love thigh fucking! Some can get wet by kissing alone! Sex is diverse!

I am especially venting because of my OTP fandom LawLu. Why is top/bottom talk lurking in LawLu fandom again?

Just draw, write and read whatever you want you idiots. LuLaw is not real! Everything about the ship is our projection! Anything we add to a ship pairing is fiction! So being adamant that shorter one has to be bottom and taller one top is so so so so limiting! What about a bottom who always rides? What about a top who likes to being guided in bed! We need to break our perception of sex from the notion a mortar and pestle! Intimacy is not limited to the pov of dominance and submission, nor is top/bottom parallel to passive and active participation!

Like dealing with anti-LawLu was not enough! Now we have to again see top/bottom “discourse” resurfacing! It’s fiction; our OTP will never be canon, and cribbing about preferred position or and insisting sexual role as gospel truth is just laughable.

Yes you are allowed to enjoy a specific dynamic. So are others. Some love LawLu and some LuLaw: both are valid because it’s fiction and shipping is fun hobby! Creating ruckus about who gets to spread whose legs is very juvenile!

And I am not free of criticism! Initially when I started as a fanfic writer, I wrote top Law and bottom Lu; the LawLu fandom was young then and I didn’t know about sex much either especially the implications behind the top/bottom dictums! As a closeted teen I was typing away my fantasies and I went with LawLu flow because everyone I knew and interacted with was writing LawLu then, without thinking I went along.

But over the years as I read more, talked with others and wrote more I began to understand sex is not rigid! It is about fluidity and when I am shipping I want enjoy and present that fluidity to my readers!

Now I can’t see top/bottom role being fixed between Luffy and Law or any slash ship I indulge in. Hence now by default every LawLu fic of mine has Switch dynamics! Because they are people who will like to see and experience every aspect of sex and pleasure!

And Luffy is Greedy he will like it both ways and every other ways one can enjoy intimacy. And Law definitely is a Giver so he will give both ways and more too!
