chica is incredibly protective of those she cares about, even if she rarely ever gets the opportunity to show this — given her mostly stationary (and perpetually monitored) state
however there are moments where the stars align so to speak and she’s able to slip away from the prying eyes of staff members to go and check on her friends — whether that’s foxy at the cove or you whenever you stop by the restaurant
this was one such time, where she’d slipped away from her handlers in the middle of a rowdy party to see you where you were waiting in one of the back rooms
the promise of plentiful pizza on her beak and a joy clear in her eyes as she went
only to be stopped when she caught sight (and heard) a group of threatening guests ganging up on you — mocking and goading you for your weight
petty, cruel comments spilling from their lips as easily as laughter, which itself punctuated their bullying
you were just barely hanging onto stability — hiding your discomfort behind a barely-there apathy that she could see through as easily as freshly cleaned eyes
noticing all the obvious giveaways of discomfort immediately
the tremor in your smile
the wateriness in your eyes
the aversion of your eyes as you stared off at a spot on the wall
you were upset and she hated seeing you like this
so she straightened up her endoskeleton, opened her beak widely and made good use of her crackling voice box and squeaky metal joints to terrify them
sprinting a few metres forwards and screeching loudly — the sound causing them to startle and scream before they fled, scrambling over each other and falling over their own feet as they hurried out of the staff room
you, however, didn’t even flinch, more than used to her ‘creepy’ sounds by now
once she was sure that they were gone, she snapped her beak shut and went to stand beside you (her endoskeleton far too rusted to let her sit) — but despite the difference in height and her aged voice box she still tried her best to speak gently and quietly
‘are… you… okay…’
you smiled awkwardly and nodded, mentioning that you were pretty used to this sort of thing by now
‘you… shouldn’t… need… to… be…’
her voice, though scratchy and delayed and filled with static, rang out with the stubbornness you knew her for and before you knew it you were wrapped up in a cold, metallic hug
and she let you voice your frustrations: cry, sob, vent, cuss
do whatever you need, she wasn’t going anywhere because that’s what loved ones are for
all the while she’s reassuring you in that staticky voice, struggling through the broken mechanism because you were more important to her than that
‘i… will… protect… you…’
‘not… alone… any… more…’
‘won’t… let… them… hurt…’
‘care… about… you…’
the more she speaks the less clear she becomes until the mechanism gives up from the strain and she falls mostly silent, crushing you tighter into the hug for a split second before letting go and setting you back down on the floor after forcing you to dangle for who knows how long
you sniffle and joke and she lets out a croaky laugh before she makes an offer that you would never refuse
a single word that made you smile because it was a very her thing to offer
‘… pizza…?’
and besides, all of that venting had left you awfully hungry…

I keep seeing people posting pro-palestine stuff in the met gala tag and it's so annoying 🙄🙄 can't we just enjoy something in peace
Hello, anon!
You know who can't enjoy peace? The palestinians. You come off as very entitled and there is a very easy solution for you. Close your eyes, or filter out the words that appears in the post so you don’t see them, or stay out of the general tags.
I know there are people who are really emotionally affected by the situation in Gaza, who uses Tumblr as a break from the atrocities happening. I get why they don't want to see anything related to that. However, Tumblr is also used by pro-palestinians to spread awareness of the genocide that's happening, and fight peoples apathy. There are room for both on Tumblr. There is no room, however, for entitled, privileged and insensitive people who police and complain about a genocide inconveniencing them, because they want to see rich people dressed up.
It's very simple, curate your own fandom experience. If you don’t like something, remove yourself from the situation. It's not other people's fault what you're exposed to on social media, it's your responsibility to curate your own experience to your own wants and needs.

tbh, i think internet culture has cultivated this international apathy towards people behind these LED screens and i’m not saying this as if i am not also at fault of sometimes forgetting that i am only seeing pieces of people and getting caught up in that as a result. social media is fairly new and with it has arisen a new culture of instant communication that didn't exist up until the last two decades or so. which of course means that there is an adjustment period for all of us, especially while we coexist in these internet spaces alongside the capitalistic isolation of our day-to-day lives. and listen, i'm the first to advocate for people who experience intense and obsessives hypefixations to be treated with empathy as they learn to navigate a world where dopamine hits are just a click away, however, there is a level of personal responsibility that i see so many actively turning a blind eye to.
we cannot control what we feel, but we always have control over how we react to what we feel. it is our personal responsibility to understand what is happening within ourselves and realize that half the shit we say on this website we would not have the nerve to say to someone's face. it goes past the definition of entitlement and trapezes into a phenomenon i have noticed has only intensified in recent years. which is, since we are the only tangible person to ourselves in these online spaces, we put ourselves at the center of each interaction. i do believe so much is lost in translation as we try and interpret meaning behind a screen, but we have the responsibility to create space for clarification and room for miscommunication. we have a responsibility to remove ourselves from the equation, because it's not about how "I wouldn't mind it if someone said this or treated me that way," it's about how someone has said, "this is how I would like to be treated."
you do owe people things, actually. you owe them respect unless they have disrespected you. you owe them kindness unless they have been cruel to you. you owe them grace if you don't know them at all. this is how it is now and you are going to run into a lot of problems in your life if you cannot understand that these aren't "fandom" rules or social ideals imposed upon us by colonialism, this is how you treat people. the culture of demanding someone's time, energy, and attention after they have made it clear to you what their boundaries are and that your desire for instant gratification lays outside of the realm of capability and comfort is, in of itself, a colonial-capitalist belief that you are going to have to work on in order to create a reality that is just and equal.
i'm not exaggerating when i say this, and i am not being dramatic. i am pointing out how this "entitlement" is derived from capitalistic-colonial mentality that affects every area of our lives and is inescapable. most people who i see demanding more than others desire to offer or criticizing others for setting boundaries in ways that make them comfortable are the same people who would abhor a 9-5 and hate when their boss asks them to work outside their scheduled hours, or assigns more work than they can complete in the basic work day. this is to say, this apathy is derived directly from the same system we wish to see crumble and we do have a responsibility to change ourselves to ensure that we do not do onto others the same things we on a systemic scale denounce. this is what it means to be a person on the internet and fandom spaces, creative spaces, etc.
because creative spaces are a collectivist environment by default, you have a responsibility to others and if you think you don't then this is not the space for you.

i agree soooo much that the fandom version of gerri is a bit. hm. i feel like the fandom fully misunderstands what roman and gerri are really about, and i get that it's more fun to do it like this for shipping purposes, but i think like. soft dom mommy characterisation and lovestruck roman just do nottt gel with the show at all.
(hopefully i didn't misinterpret your perception of fandom gerri, sorry if you disagree!!)
yea i agree! obviously everybody is entitled to their opinion and i don’t want to start beef blah blah blah etc. but yes i’m always struck by the difference between fandom and canon when i’m rewatching this show. i think unfortunately gerri gets really warped in fandom at times. it kinda bums me out because like i think her motivations are sometimes altered to fit the fantasy of them running away together into the sunset. and i totally get why people ship them and want them to a little different than they are.
but to me, gerri’s whole thing is that she’s got similar greed, lust for power without the responsibility, apathy for the consequences of her actions, etc. as her male counterparts, except that she’s a woman.
and because she’s so intelligent and imo the greatest player of the game in the entire show, she’s managed to use her gender to her advantage instead of just her detriment as often as possible, leaning in to this false softness that lulls logan and everyone else into a false sense of security, allowing her to basically stab someone in the back then be on good terms with them the next episode (think the vote of no confidence in s1). she loves the game. but because that’s so ‘weird’ for a woman, she must have some hidden softness… so people trust her because they think of her as the mother goose, the harmless, benevolent kindly old woman, clever filing cabinet, whatever. even some viewers have fallen for this guise and consider her the ‘nicest’ character!
and with roman, she shows a bit more of her true self than she does with anyone else - she’s more comfortable, she’s more open regarding her thought process, she schemes with him. but that doesn’t mean that she’s been hiding some womanly, maternal softness this whole time that actually wants to fix roman with a hetero relationship or whatever.
i think in s2-3 she a) enjoys flexing power over a roy given that logan is such a tyrant and she’s sort of humiliating him by proxy, b) recognizes the business advantage of having power over a roy, and c) likes roman as a person. she’s not in love with him - she’s fond of him.
she’s a stone cold bitch through and through, not because she has to be to survive in a man’s world, but because that’s who she is. and given what little we know of her backstory (married a colleague, etc.), running off into the sunset with her boss’s son is so far from her goals and interests that it depresses me a little bit.

actually before I do anything. I spent all day at work reflecting on what was different in my life this year compared to last year that I spent most of my time crying in a breakdown between moments of intense depressive apathy.
well.
-I'm on some proper meds that don't make me sick/ruin my appetite or give me worse symptoms with the side effects.
-I'm at a better job, one with proper pay, fair hours, and most importantly, a generally low-stress environment with people I work well with under management that respects me and isn't emotionally abusive.
-I'm working on personal original works that'll let me explore stuff I wanna write outside of fandom blorbo-ness, possibly in a way that'll let me make some extra money thanks to kofi
-My comfort media isn't actively being ripped apart by its creators, causing me constant stress/anxiety and grief that's made worse by how the fanbase(s) around these people use their actions and writing choices as fuel for triggering discourse.
-I haven't gotten a single ableist, manipulative, creepy, oddly controlling/entitled anon trying to nitpick or control my behavior through thinly veiled suicide bait or explicit sexually violent death threats.
so. yeah. it's been a better year for me on the whole. not a Greatyear but. a better one

i ship maiko because pretty,funny, intelligent and overall awesome people ship maiko <3 i think they make a really great couple, it is just very difficult for me to quite articulate the why i like them i suppose, i don’t write metas or anything as i can’t quite put my thoughts and feelings into coherent sentences. i just think they’re the best suited for each other. and i like their aesthetic ok

A fandom refresher course notes, for anyone that missed the class :)
Fandom, all fandoms is full of humans breathing and very real, with good and bad intentions, who's actions rarely do line up with intentions or the consequences of their actions. Humans aren't anything but messy complex individuals that shape the world purposeful and accidentally.
it isn't toxic if they don't like the same things you like or they don't like something you like. Toxic is only when they start feeling entitled to their version of the fandom. (Prof went off about this, but in summary this included people being entitled to breaking another person's boundaries as well as people sending death threats to creators because the story didn't fit their narrative.)
If there is a place, a story, a person to care about, you won't just receive love, you will receive hate. We all know by now that the opposite of love is not hate, it apathy, there has been enough fanfics about that okay, prof says if you don't know that they are concerned how well you will pass the class.
You only are born with only so many fucks to give, Prof says the mental health department wants to stress to stop giving your fucks to people who don't want it. Put yourself, your mental health first when interacting with social media. If that space you created vibes with other people they will arrive.
Prof also made sure to add the qualification: You can be safe and still make sure you aren't walking over other people or punching down at marginalized people. They recommend firstly: to shut the fuck up and let them speak for themselves, don't drown them out with your outrage in their place, secondly: don't put the prosecution of the guilty over the well-being of the victim
Prof nearly went over class time limit because they started talking about informed discussion and fact checking because of the harm and danger that misinformation and outdated facts has caused.

Look, if you need it, unfollow the blogs, filter whatever fandom that is currently slightly on fire currently, not everyone likes discourse, and fandoms go through cycles of calm and discourse, even if it something that has be around a long time like Doctor Who or something that is pretty young like Dream SMP, it is okay to tap out. You don't have to stay, and anyone that tries to say you have to. Ignore them. if you aren't constructive in your criticism of my points and you are just looking to start a fight, know I will be laughing because you have wasted your energy not mine to let me live in your brain rent free.

Dear everyone!~~!
Now 3 months late since I promised,  I finally bring you a VERY detailed photo report on ‘Elisabeth’ 2019!
DISCLAIMER:
I am not going to retell the story of ‘Elisabeth’; I will skip quite many scenes. For the full story, please look up a synopsis or something alike.
There is actually quite a lot I am not sure whether I remembered right. And Furukawa always changes his performance every few days, so my report does not cover all of Furutod.
Some of these drawings were made in a rush, while for others I had more time.

The Descent

The descent has always been one of my favourite scenes. This number is just so great, a mere memory of it is enough to turn me into one giant goosebump. I was especially looking forward to this, because this would be the first time we see Furukawa Yuta as the role of his dreams; Der Tod.
Though I am no fan of the metallic wings, Furutod’s descent was SO MAJESTIC. The theme of Der Tod started, and from the ceiling a pair of boots descended.
Some ankles revealed itself, the calf... more of the calf... and there was more calf... AH finally some knees. Uw, more legs...leeegs...leeeegs... “WHERE DO HIS LEGS STOP!? Oh, there! No wait, those are his upper thighs. Ah, finally, his waist.”
I heard from someone who counted, Furukawa descends one beat earlier than Inoue Yoshio’s Der Tod does, because otherwise by the time Der Tod needs to sing, Furukawa’s face has not shown yet ( ´艸`)

When Furutod touched ground, his Death Angels undid his wings, and he stepped onto the stage for the first time.
The way Furukawa carries himself as Der Tod is very two-dimensional, in a good way!  When he descended he was like a Greek statue, but when he stepped forward, he gradually came to life. In this photo ⇊ we catch a small glimpse of Furutod’s statue-like face.

Sissi’s Entrance
Manaki’s Sissi was the cutest and most majestic thing I have seen. When she made her appearance as child Sissi, it was very believable that it really was a child standing before me. She was beaming and her eyes were full of dreams. And yet there was this edge in her. It was easy to see how this young girl would grow into a woman who would survive ordeal after ordeal.

Enter the Underworld
During a family meeting, Sissi fell from the tree which wounded her so bad she enters the Underworld. She was escorted by the Death Angels, and at first Furutod did not seem interested at all. “Another mortal who died, nothing new.” When he approached her to take her life, Sissi sought eye-contact with Der Tod, and her eyes were so full of power and life, it was like she - though confused - was daring the lord of the Underworld to end her.

“The Rondo of Love and Death”
The song ‘the Rondo of Love and Death’ began, and I was stunned by how much Furukawa managed to improve his already good singing. He always had trouble with the high notes, and sometimes he would be a bit short of breath. But by ‘Elisabeth’, Furukawa has improved his vocals so much that even the highest notes went as smooth as silk.

This is the first time when Furutod comes fully to life, and for the first time his eyes showed an emotion that was not utttttter boredom. We learn that Furutod is like a spoiled child who would take any opportunity to play. Despite literally being the personification of Death, the only thing Der Tod seems to want to kill is not the lives of others, but his own boredom. To me, Furutod is the first Der Tod that made me realise what this ‘pain’ in the script really meant to him; a lethal apathy paired with the suffering of not being able to end it.
The other Der Tods I have seen are also good; but especially in the Takarazuka version, this ‘pain’ is strongly hinted to be ‘a loveless existence’. A lethal apathy was a very refreshing take for me to see.

♪♬ “Until the day I win your love I will continue my pursuit... I will pursue your love no matter where you go” ♪♬
The song was meant to be a very romantic one, but once sung by Furutod, this pining lover’s song became that of an entitled stalker’s threat song. In the other versions of ‘Elisabeth’, Der Tod is also a stalker, of course. But the emphasis on the romance is usually laid on so thick, one would have to give the situation some extra thought before acknowledging how creepy it truly is.
Furutod however, only allows you room to either interpret it as a problematic kinky-romance, or sheer threat.

The Imperial Wedding

Franz I and Sissi get married, and Der Tod attends the Imperial wedding as well. I was a very lucky b*tch, I sat only 2 seats away from where Furutod passed us in the aisle.

... he was literally only a meter away from us, and my little dork sister Ò^Ó didn’t see him. Sigh. She was too busy looking at the stage. Which - not gonna lie - was glorious too. But Furutod thoughhhhhhh.

His long cape trailed behind him, the way he walked was so smooth it was like he was floating. We have seen a preview of Furukawa’s float-walk in Kuromyu, where he applied ballet even to walking. I thought that was already the height of Furukawa’s ballet skills; BUT I WAS WRONG! When I saw Furutod’s float-walk from up close, I realised that as Sebas, Furukawa was at least ‘TRYING’ to look human. With Furutod he did not bother.
Speaking of my sister @cutiepeimei , she also sketched the image of Floating!Furutod. He ghost.

The Game is On
After Furutod saw his ‘toy’ become someone else’s, it was like something snapped in his mind. He was very calm at first, solemnly warning Elisabeth that she will be the end of the Habsburg glory.
♪♬ “All misfortune starts here, as of today The demise of the Habsburg glory The downfall of an empire of which no one knows Let me tell you bit by bit, the source of all disaster People are blissfully oblivious of the scent of misfortune The die is cast by your grave mistake Elisabeth!” ♪♬ - Der Tod and Choir
But then after Elisabeth spoke her wedding vow, tears started streaming down Furutod’s cheeks, and suddenly, he broke into hysterical laughter.
He started with a few chuckles under his breath which bled into an uncontrolled laughter. Before we knew, this ominous laughter became a full-out hyena screech, going “iiiiyaaahahahaahahaha!”
The Japanese fandom is rather divided on their opinions on this hyena laughter. I at first didn’t like it either; I found myself pinching my nose willing myself not to laugh in the theatre. Despite it being funny at the time, it was indeed very very chilling. It wasn’t until after I watched other versions of ‘Elisabeth’ (because I just missed Furutod SO MUCH) that I realised I was REALLY missing Hyena!Tod. So I have settled with the opinion of “Hyena!Tod Hell YES!”.

“The Last Dance“
In the interview published in ‘Soen September 2019 Issue’, Furukawa shared with us that he asked costume designer Ikezawa to make this costume military based.
Though all guests attended the Imperial wedding in formal wear, Furutod chose to appear in military uniform because that was the moment he decided to declare war to Elisabeth. Quite a few years had passed between their first encounter and the wedding, and Furutod was done waiting; he was going to conquer his toy actively now.

In the song ‘the Last Dance’, Furutod made his appearance in a cool-headed manner, and he stayed so for... a few seconds. It was like he was trying very hard to remain calm, but his bottled-up impatience just could no longer be suppressed.
As Furukawa said himself before in this interview, “‘the Last Dance’, starts in gentle melody and sets the mood. But then suddenly the rock starts, and both Der Tod and the musical itself transform themselves.”

 Sissi was trying to escape the room, but the Death Angels had already guarded every corner of the room. Whenever Sissi seemed to finally have found a window to escape, a minion would just spin her on her heels and push her back to the boss.
Usually, this scene is one of my least favourites in non-Takarazuka versions, because it is usually performed with too much rape-vibes. Furutod however, was not rape-y at all. In fact, he hardly ever touched more than Sissi’s hands. The scene was devoid of sexual energy - it was just war.
By the end of the song, Furutod saw how Sissi was devastated by him, and seemed to regret for a second that he used the wrong strategy. Had he not scared her, then Sissi might have been less quick to run away from him. It was very refreshing to see a version of this scene wherein Der Tod reflects on how he scared somebody unduly.
Alas, no use crying over spilt milk, Furutod shrugged it off. Before he left Sissi he bowed to her, and with a gentle smile he gestured at the pathway that the Death Angels cleared for her. Furutod reminded Sissi that whether she escapes him or not would be entirely at his mercy, just like now. “Your last dance will belong to me.” ♪♬
“I Belong to Myself”
At the crack of dawn after Sissi’s wedding night, her mother in law Sophie inspects every inch of her, and even blamed her for not having consummated the wedding with her son. Sophie dictates the rules at the Imperial court and strips Sissi of every last bit of her autonomy.

Franz hears the noise from his bride’s chamber and comes to check on her. Sissi cries out to Franz, begging him to save her from Sophiezilla. Franz - the spineless mama-boy that he is - smiles at Sissi, and has the guts to sing the following:
♪♬ “ You have to learn the duties of being Empress You need to repress yourself, that is your life from now on I am your ally, but all of Mother’s advice is for your sake” ♪♬ - Franz
Sissi will swallow none of this bs, and declares that even though her body might now be the Imperial family’s property, her soul belongs to herself alone.
I have seen a lot of whimpering Sissis who turned this power song into a damsel-in-distress-song. But Manaki Reika was full of determination and spite. It was very empowering to see. She was looking up, of course, and it makes sense because the Imperial Theatre has multiple stories of seats. But because of Manaki’s immense presence, it felt like she was declaring her autonomy to a greater existence.

Hungarian Independence
Sissi’s life was getting harder and harder. First, her husband was very busy, so the couple did not have any time to produce any children. By the second year, Sissi finally gave birth to a baby girl, but the baby was immediately taken away by Sophie. Not only did Sophie go full Disney Villain by stealing a baby, she also took the liberty of naming the child after herself.
The state was in turmoil, and Franz had trouble keeping everything together. He was willing to make a last bet on his wife’s charms, and asked Elisabeth to come with him to Hungary.
Here, Sissi saw her chance to make a move, and demanded that she would only come if Franz made his mother return baby Sophie to her. Defeated, Franz finally made his first move.
Franz was supposed to show himself in a speech wherein he declares Austrian authority over Hungary. Sissi however, showed herself in a dress in the colours of the Hungarian flag, and greeted the Hungarian people in Hungarian language and acknowledges Hungary as an independent nation. Using this political move, she managed to single-handedly win the favours of the Hungarian people who were fighting for self governance.
The Hungarian revolutionaries however, were VERY unhappy with this development. While they would have been seen as ‘heroes who fought for independence’, they would now be reduced to ‘ungrateful rebellions’.

Elemer, played by Uehara Takuya (Grell) made his move to assasinate Sissi, but was stopped by Furutod. Furutod hid Elemer’s hand that was holding a gun with his cape, and showed the revolutionaries that the Imperial guards were very close by.

Furutod gave the revolutionaries an assuring pat on the shoulders and created an opening for them to escape the guards. The revolutionaries thanked him heartily. Furutod scoffed, reminding the audience once more that Sissi’s life and death was entirely in his hands.
Just like Furukawa explained marvelously before in this interview, Furutod is “an entity that represents both life force and death; death has no meaning to human beings if there is no life, after all. Death’s power ultimately, comes from his authority over the termination of someone’s life.”
Sissi seemed to be very full of herself after she won the popularity of the Hungarian people, but Furutod would not allow her this joy. His Death Angels appear with a small coffin and presented it to her like a gift box. They opened the ‘gift’ and revealed the corpse of baby Sophie to her mother.
Sissi screeches in pain and anger, and Furutod wrapped his arms around her, again with tears streaming down his face.

Now in my eyes too, my love for you shines But in my arms rests another Elisabeth, quickly acknowledge your love for me And realise that you will lead his Empire into ruins” ♪♬ - Der Tod
Furutod is easily the cruelest interpretation of Der Tod I have seen... and I have seen MANY. (Ack, I forgot to draw this scene... might add it later.)
Ultimatum
Sissi’s produced 3 children by now, but all were taken away by Sophie. Her only son Rudolf was but a young child, but he was being literally being whipped into discipline by Sophie. Whenever the boy would say he wanted to see his mother, Sophie would whip him, and tell him his mother is a bad influence.

Sophie did not like Elisabeth’s success in Hungary, so she had been controlling every aspect at the Austrian court.
Sissi’s had enough, and wrote an ultimatum to her husband, demanding that he needed to choose either her, or his mother. If he did not comply, then her legs door would always be closed to him.
Franz takes the letter, but did not know what to do, and left. Sissi did not seem to have a lot of faith in Franz to be able to stand up against Sophiezilla either, and almost crashes.
Then in her lowest moment, Der Tod appeared and showed her the understanding and compassion she could get nowhere else. He sings in a cooing voice:
♪♬ “Elisabeth... cry no more Rest embraced in my chest Now is the time you can finally be free in the eternal world where time never ends” ♪♬ - Der Tod
He touched her very gently, only ever guiding her with his finger tips, never pulling her. Here he respected her bodily autonomy which her husband would not.

Sissi seemed to be falling for the temptation, and Furutod got carried away because for the first time in years, he seemed to be a bit more successful. He forgot to maintain his gentle act, and pushed Sissi down a bit too forcibly. Sissi snapped out of the dream, realising her seducer was not unlike her husband who’s been trying to force himself onto her, and pushed Der Tod away.

‘Milk’ is such a powerful song...! Yamazaki’s powerful and slightly drunk voice is PERFECT for Lucheni... eternal sadness that 2019 is probably his last time as Lucheni...
Austria was suffering from famine, and the price of milk had sky-rocketed. Lucheni here poses as a milk merchant and sells milk to the starving people. There was barely enough milk left for one small jug however, and the people raged even further.
Lucheni then explains that all the milk is gone because it got into the bathtub of the Empress, who was using food to maintain her beauty.

After having successfully fueled the anger of the people, Lucheni then ships cans and cans of milk to the Imperial palace, where Sissi was having her beauty routine.
The Mirror Hall
Franz could not really keep it in his pants anymore, and finally decided to confront his mother. He gathered his courage and approached his wife, to tell her that she will have her authority as the children’s mother back, “so please, please sleep with me again.” Though this is exactly what Sissi wanted to hear, Franz started another train of spineless excuses for how he was toootally not a coward for NOT standing up against his mother, but that he merely had to abide his duty as the Emperor.
Sissi makes another power move. She showed herself in the iconic Empress Elisabeth dress, and presented herself so majestically she manages to shut her husband up. (Sorry, my art here cannot quite represent just HOW majestic she was...)

When Franz wanted to get close to her, Sissi stopped Franz with but a mere hand-gesture. Though Sissi presented herself as a very elegant and perfect wife, her words carried a very strict warning that Franz should not mistake her as his property just because she’s happy he showed her basic decency.

Franz was not the only one who was impressed, Furutod too had to begrudgingly admit he was one-upped by Sissi. Now that Sissi had determined to live on regardless of the hardships, Der Tod was forced to literally stay in the background, watching Elisabeth reconquering everything that was stripped away from her bit by bit.

A personal note for US followers
Let me preface this with everyone is absolutely entitled to their political opinions. We’re a democracy.  Have at it.  e pluribus unum and all that jazz. 
You are encouraged to get charged up over things that matter to you, that impact you, that upset you.  You should be engaged in the political dialogue and have a position on things.  You should be informed by facts rather than vitriol and conspiracy.  Apathy is the antithesis of all of that, and I’d rather have you engaged than not.  
But I will make ONE POST before I go back to my little corner in this fandom.
I am a professional. I have lived and breathed the policy world here in DC for years now and was studying for years prior and have accordingly always tried to be an objective party. I have seen what good policy does; I have seen what bad policy does. I have had the privilege of mentorship and leadership - civilian and military - who swing in both political directions and bring with them an additional 10, 20, 30, 40 years of experience on top of my own. Collectively, we’ve seen some shit (lol).
The so-called “deep state” that people like to bandy around doesn’t fucking exist. Know what does exist?  Thousands of career civil servants and military personnel around the country and the world just doing their fucking jobs, regardless of who’s at the top. Established professionals both in and out of the government who have dedicated their LIVES and careers to doing right by this country on both sides of the aisle, championing their respective issues and concerns and proposals. A veritable army of people - political and otherwise - who have sworn an oath to the Constitution to defend this country and everything it stands for.
The three branches of our government are INTENDED to balance one another. If they’re holding you back, they’re doing their damn job.  We’re not supposed to agree on everything all the time.
Absolutism and bigotry is toxic to building sustainable options. Complex problems need complex solutions.  This requires nuance, time, and empathy.
We are not alone in the world and we can’t act as such.  Actions we take and things we say impact others...sometimes immediately and directly.
Knowledge is power.  And the people can and should speak TRUTH to power.

Hahahaha I laughed anon.
While some people certainly are a lot reaction wise, I think even boring/typical/uninteresting stunt stuff like this has become very frustrating and anger-inducing for a fandom where many are already frustrated/restless/anxious. People already don’t feel communicated to, especially after how the past few years have gone, and don’t know what is happening re music and scheduling. They don’t feel the urge to be as invested, and stunt stuff doesn’t promote excitement or investment for most people. At this point it’s promoting anger or frustration or even apathy.
So while this isn’t a big deal stunt wise, and while I do not think we are entitled to music or even music news until it’s time for it, I basically think stunt stuff is a Bad Idea at this juncture.

If Jaune does end up being connected to Salem do you think it'd be through a different relative or through Salem and Oz's kids (connecting him to Oz too) like somehow one of them survived potentially? Also! Is there anyway you'd like to see it go down particularity if it happens? And how it could effect the characters and story? Also also sorry for the lowkey spam I don't have many peeps to talk to RWBY about and your answers and thoughts are really fun to read and fascinating too!

And honestly I kinda have no idea with Jaune? Just logically based on what we know. I really don’t think any of the kids survived. That battle blew up everything around them and if there was even a possibility one of his girls lived I’m sure Ozpin would have gone back for her. So I highly doubt anyone is a direct descendent of Ozpin and Salem. Jaune can’t be a direct descendent of human!Salem either because all of humanity 1.0 was wiped out... and Salem doesn’t seem the type to go starting another family after murdering Ozpin and declaring war on all of humanity...
From what I’ve seen, the fandom seems to think there’s a connection between Jaune and Salem because a) it’s Tyrian dropping hints (given his obsession with Salem he’d be interested in Jaune by extension) and b) because of their family’s similar crests...but I’m not seeing how a direct connection easily fits into the lore we got this volume. Not to say that there isn’t one, just that my tired brain isn’t seeing it lol. 
The emblems could just be a red herring. Tyrian might be interested in Jaune for any number of reasons, particularly since his family is an old one with huntsmen in his ancestry. He could be tied up in the war, Ozpin’s past lives, etc. in numerous other ways. 
And oh god, anon, I’m so sorry for sounding like a broken record but the ONLY thing I want with any specificity is accountability for the gang and a shred of human decency for Ozpin. Let the kids admit that they messed up. Especially given this new ‘we don’t need adults’ mentality, they have GOT to acknowledge that there are people around them with more power, more experience, more knowledge, more maturity, that they should really listen to at times; that the adults around them make these choices for good reasons, even if the result isn’t always what they intend. They need to admit these mistakes so that they can grow. Taking Ozpin’s past like that and treating him like they did afterwards was a cruel, childish, entirely unnecessary form of betrayal and I’ll be so disappointed if RT never gets us to a point where someone admits that. That no matter how entitled they felt to Ozpin’s secret, at the very least doing it that way was beneath them as huntsmen and as human beings. Ozpin has heavily implied that he’s been met with nothing but hatred and fear when people learn about Salem. That’s what he got this time around too, but I need the gang to give him support for the first time, both for him and their own development. Better than the previous generations and all that. 
Also if we could get some Renora after Volume 4′s step forward, some legit support for Oscar not stemming from panic about the Apathy/him running away, AA (or the Remnant equivalent) for Qrow, and an acknowledgement of Yang’s anger issues considering that was such a huge part of the volume’s first half and then they just dropped it? Yeah. Those would be great too 👍

About shipping
Not all about Widdershins, but in general. Ok, I’m not shipper, and I have never told people “Don’t ship it” bc a) I hate when someone says “Do” and “Don’t” to me and so I don’t say things like that, myself; b) it doesn’t work anyway and so, senseless.
But I got disturbed by (certain kinds of) shipping now and again, and I can explain which kind exactly. I’m disturbed every time I hear: Hey, these characters are ready to die each for other!/ Character A says in the canon they’ll going to Hell for character B! /There is a word “love” about them in the canon*!/ Character A hold Character B’s hand (put his hand on B’s shoulder) in emotional support! - now it’s obviously CANON PAIRING!
* For the right context, in this case it’s Tolkien’s Silmarillion.
These things make me hurt, and not because someone ships some characters “in the wrong way” or (in some cases) misinterpeted the canon. It hurts me as a sign of the certain tendency, to indermine/dismiss/just ignore feelings/love of non-sexual/non-romantic character. Friendship included. I did hear the statement “There’s no such thing as friendship” from shippers, once. :/
So, I’m wholly OK with reasoning “Sharpe must have sexual attraction for/crush on Knott bc he flirts with him and blushes from his touch”, not so OK with “...bc Knott’s touch made his Sharpening go away”, and really NOT OK with “Knotty's prime motivation for doing all this stopped being just about not wanting to hang anyone, a good long time ago”. It doesn’t mean I think Knott wouldn’t return Sharpe’s feelings, in fact, I suppose he would and I prefer it this way, for Sharpe’s sake. It’s just “Knott cares about Sharpe/wants to save him for sake of himself/has personal feelings for him” doesn’t equal “romantic love”, in my eyes.
And speaking about purely fandom things, yes, everyone’s entitled to make their fun as they wish... but when I see that a hundred random fics about X and Y (not being a canon pair) has 99 X/Y, I feel... apathy, I guess. It’s not as if I *need* X&Y fics, I can write them myself. :) Just a little sad feeling.

I have been silent on here for a long while now, and neglected many amazing friendships. I often find myself complaining about my loneliness but at the same time too emotionally exhausted to keep even the most basic contact with more than 2 or 3 humans at a time.
I have been through a lot this year, which is an understatement considering I had already been through a lot before. Life just keeps finding new ways to shit on me. You think you have hit rock bottom but the truth is, things can always, always get worse.
It gets exponentially harder to remain optimistic when your dreams are constantly being torn down, each time you even dare to dream something nice is finally happening for you, it falls apart almost immediately. After a while you just learn to stop wanting things.
I have become so despondent of everything that used to bring me joy. All I feel is apathy. I used to find refuge in fanfiction, in fandoms, in writing meta and making edits, etc. I used to find a sense of purpose in those things. If nothing else in my life was right, at least there was something I enjoyed, was good at, and had complete power over my levels of accomplishment on it.
These days I try to imagine what it might feel like writing fanfiction and getting a review, or discussing meta with my friends, or making an edit and getting notes. I try to remember what motivated me to care about that and I come up blank.
I'm constantly asked what I want in life, and I remember the things I used to say but I can't connect to them anymore. I don't really want anything in life, because I don't feel I /can/ want things. Every time I have dared to want something, it falls apart despite my best efforts. I'm too scared to ever want anything again.
I'm genuinely scared of this aimless state I'm in. I'm getting antidepressant medication and it helps somewhat, but therapy (the essential treatment) has not helped at all, I cry my heart out and receive the same advice, I keep being told to shift my perspective, to try harder.
I'm trying so hard already. I want to be optimistic, I really do think it is in my nature to hope. I believe it when people say it's up to you to be happy with what you have and I try so hard. I swear I do. I keep wanting to believe that pessimism is just a defense mechanism and I have to be strong and brave enough to want things despite the odds.
I do believe that you can't sit and whine about how shitty your luck has been, of course there are people out there worse off than me. I make an enormous effort not to think like that.
But is it too much to ask to have one thing, just one thing, work out nicely just once? Is it too much to ask for at least one dream to not be crushed? Just one chance to have a beautiful thing I thought could be mine, just one. Am I truly horribly lazy and negative and selfish and entitled, for wanting just one thing to work out for once?
I know life owes you nothing just for being a good a person. The universe really is cold and chaotic and empty and so, so unfair. I know it's up to you to make the best of your lot in life. I am trying, God, I am trying so hard, I swear I am. It just seems like it's never enough. I just wish I could get a break for once.

Yes long, posts like this happen now and then.
It’s occurred to me during the late nights like this that all of this is armour. That people aren’t growing further apart directly because of technology or that we’ve thicker or thinner skin about things around various issues--they are barriers we’ve put up. Some of them are more subtle and others are quite literal, in general it seems like a jumble of all the things we’ve aggregated, conscious and unconscious cultural design.
Things like emergent wearable tech, beginning with portable music moving to the discreet and miniaturized, ballooning into smartphones, watches, tablets, influencing portables, and integrating into shoes and clothes. They are things that seem to build up a type of tech that tracks, covers, and are held relatively close to the body by mimicking the existing barriers that we’ve become socialized to accept, but with a sensory interface that has become pervasive.
The effect of people sealing themselves off psychologically is a mental, emotional, and physical one. It’s easy to see why VR, robotics, and direct digital to physiological interfaces are prevalent and actively being researched again. We are easily drawn in to a very solitary space even when we’re communicating with people. One such symptom is verbal and written communication becoming especially tangled with short forms like text and audio into video, gifs, emoji, and even carrying multiple conversations simultaneously across platforms.
Screens draw the vision with imperceptible flickering business and cool light; on the tactile side we have touch, cursors and brushes, and textual inputs that give real and simulated feedbacks; while our brains are stimulated with a boatload of written, generated, and created works that bombard us with almost everything possible we could want to experience visually, audibly, and intellectually. And when novelty runs out there’s the minutia of something else to follow.
Is it any wonder how quiet some places and public transit can get? People withdraw to a favourite or new album, fandom, an episode of something topical, the news, gossip, a book without pages: the person’s physical location (and really, the object of interest’s physical dimensions) stop mattering. They could be in bed, on vacation, or on a space station, and it wouldn’t matter.

What it reminds me of is when road rage became a media sensation. Not the strange fascination people had and still have with hair-trigger bursts of violence, but because it was the reaction of people being shocked back into the present moment.
Consumer vehicles in the 1980s and 90s through to now have developed with this immersive design language and technology in mind. Enhanced and assisted controls, refined transmissions, state of the art audio and digital displays, climate controls, sound dampening, and other functions that conceal and seal us in a physical and psychological bubble that distances us from the reality that we’re moving and controlling vehicles, passengers, and sometimes more weight than we want to think about moving at legal speeds.
That is not to say people are less responsible, aware, or responsive; something unexpected happens and it breaks though causing a instinctual reaction of panic or anger like being startled awake or a hypnic jerk.
With the way we are starting to understand less obvious sources of stress and fatigue from sources like diet, lifestyle choices, existing life and social/economic circumstances, but particularly technology and sometimes what it’s shielding or depriving us, I believe there’s a link to those situations with the unbridled comment rage and obsession people have on social media.
Streamed 24-hour news and content cycles, work, leisure, pleasure, entertainment, and social interactions have been forming digital niches for decades now, and new ones appearing all the time. Ballooning echo chambers enhance the polarizations of a compressed world of social, cultural, political, and economic difference; worlds that are continuously in contact, exchange, and clashing with each other while on the same dimensionally flat and virtual space. This doesn’t dismiss any of it as superficial and immaterial when they can actively grow and connect to create real life experiences.
In a way it begins to explain outgrowths of popular culture like binge-watching, idol culture, virtual spectating and e-sports, media/intellectual property franchising, even the soft pop adoption of things like spoilers, trigger warnings, social justice and opposing reactionary movements. Sure, there’s older parallels and similar roles in older media and interactions, but now there’s an increasingly tense breach. On one end, the intense desire and ability to immerse beyond personal limitation to an new extreme (with multiple perspectives, narrative outcomes and specific situations as in video games or a concert, psychological or altered experiences, the perfect persona/character to leverage creative obsession, moral superiority in an  expansive argument, or an entire creative work all at once), with overload to the point of exhaustion or degrees of trauma.The latter explains the loss of enjoyment, hyper-critical, and lacking sense of novelty when confronted with so many choices, highlighting where we have very few options and issues beyond our ability to cope.

It ties into less direct phenomenon like cultural appropriation, plastic surgery, expansive popular body modification, as well as self-referential culture like hipsters, memes, and faux social “irony”. Cultural appropriation, misuse of cultural property, and plain prejudicial racism highlight the clearer and the ambiguous borders of cultural protectionism blockades. Depending on the context and severity, it can also illuminate the complex dynamics of where advantages are, who can effectively claim ownership, and who feels entitled to abuse and take. There aren’t pointless fights and returns to the consistent experience of threat of loss or lack of respect to a less powerful community identity.
Tattoos, piercings, surgical mods and manipulations continue as traditional sensory, cultural, aesthetic, and ritual experiences yet have been tuned very differently. Appropriation of social purpose, conservation of styles as well as techniques and designs, purpose, narrative, or communal resonance can become secondary to aims of achieving a sense of conformity, visual/functional manipulation, producing or enhancing ambiguity, and intentional divergence. Literally embedding a sense-barrier of a design that draws attention, repels it, or visually/mentally/functionally changes

People have become less particular about how they want to react or deal with situations. Apathy and affected uncaring becomes part of a circuit of actively, over-invested and corresponding counter statements. It’s a world where we’re bombarded with filtered and unfiltered, poorly fact-checked opinions that stack up and we replicate them in a race not to be accurate or correct, but to rebuild the crumbling barriers as they fall.
