#fictional character death
purlturtle · 2 months
Text
Inspired by a post that's making the rounds again:
Video game characters absolutely included - *anyone* fictional you've cried over. Also animal characters, or pet animals, or characters whose role wasn't very big (don't care, cry is cry). If a fictional death affected you to tears, it counts. If you only shed one single tear, it also counts. If no tears came but you felt like crying, you may use your own discretion to decide whether that counted or not.

i have been restraining myself from telling anything about tma to my brother after I accidentally spoiled tim’s death by sending one of my qprs a “TIM STOKER IS FUCKING KAYAKING” post and he worked out tim fucking died
it’s been hell. i NEED to tell my brother about the funny spiral man. ‘teehee’ has been my best deflection against elaboration. my brother would want to work for the magnus archives

Bad News For Captain Boomerang Fans (Again)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like we're only getting Captain Boomerang as a corpse so far. See y'all next month for more disappointment.
Also I fucking guess Identity Crisis is canon again for some fucking reason. It shouldn't be since Owen doesn't seem to exist anymore and he's kinda the reason why it even happened in the first place, but it's whatever I guess.

⚠️Major Spoilers for the last of us game 2⚠️
.
.
.
.
When I first watched the last of us I quickly watched the cut scenes from the first game. Than I watched random ones from the second game. Including Joel's death. And god I have never sobbed over a fictional character death this long before. It's been 3 weeks at most and I still cry almost every time I think about it. Or just watch random clips from the game. Like I don't even know why I just do. Like I've cried over fictional characters deaths, but Joel Miller is the first one that I've cried this much for. Like dear fucking god. My very being hurts.

Honestly, what's so hard about writing living parents? It's not that hard, I do it all the- *pauses* Er, hold that thought.
*Counts the number of parental figures in my WIP*
*Counts how many of them are actually parents*
*Counts how many of them are still alive*
I've done it!
Once.

please don't mistake silence for hatred. please don't mistake unanswered plotting messages as indifference, or a lack of enthusiasm towards you. considering the ages of most roleplayers, many of us have bills to pay, families to take care of, medical conditions to treat, appointments to make, classes to take, homes to clean, and lives to live away from the computer that are far, far more important than writing on tumblr — life has a tendency to get in the way of hobbies and fun things like this. be patient with your fellow writers. if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. of course you can set your boundaries, keep your space comfortable, and softblock whoever you wish, but do so while recognizing it's probably not hatred or apathy that keeps them from leaping into your dms with message after message. they probably love this hobby just as much as you... but sometimes life gets in the way.

It occurs to me that as much as Ed wants to be able to be vulnerable and not have it used against him, Stede wants the same thing. He was bullied as a child and bullied as a man, and his reaction was to retreat into his fantasies where he was tough and strong, embodied in pirates. He tries to make those fantasies into reality and finds that he really doesn't want to commit the kind of violence that he would have to "to be like Blackbeard," then learns that "Blackbeard" is actually an unhappy man named Ed searching for a better, kinder life and identity.
But Stede still wants to be able to defend himself. He wants to protect people he loves. He also wants to be able to cry openly and be gentle and kind and not be mocked for it. He finds that with his crew, who at first think he's ridiculous and then will do anything for him because he'll do anything for them. Then he finds it with Ed, who embodies all the masculine attributes that Stede wanted to find in himself, but who also badly wants softness and kindness without fear of pain.
Stede is entirely able to be vulnerable with Ed. He can play games with him and not be laughed at, and tell stories and be listened to, and say the softest things like how he loves "breathing the same air" and Ed will just smile and melt. It takes them a little while to get there, but it's so lovely that Stede finds someone who will be disappointed when he stops talking and who loves him for all the things he thought he had to conceal about himself.

Everything has an end - all but the work.
The endless work of Death.
When did it all begin? They ask themself in those quiet moments when the whispers of departing souls and the weight of their untold stories become too much to bear.
But they chose to forget, and now there's only the work.
Eternal as Death is – a constant through the ages, an unending presence – there lies within them a yearning, a quiet longing for the essence of life. To experience the vibrancy of existence, to savor the rich tapestry of sensory wonders – sight, touch, taste, feel. Yet, how can the Reaper ever sow?
But now, the currents are shifting. Stirrings from an epoch long past, from a time before time itself held meaning, are beginning to resonate. Something ancient is awakening, calling out to Death, urging them to remember the forgotten dawn of their existence, to confront the genesis of their endless watch.
Will you hold their hand at the end?

besties i hate to break it to you but izzy has literally Not Changed That Much compared to s1 like sure he's moved on and is learning to not repress his shit as much but his personality is exactly the same. we're talking about the "daddy... daddy..." freak. the creature who hate-flirted with stede in s1 with "plumb the depths *slutty curtain touch*". Like if you couldn't stand him in s1 and now think he's ok only because he's a "completely different person" maybe what happened is that your reaction to him was too visceral and people who seem cunts sometimes are people with shit going on (in his case his husband was cheating on him while he tried to take care of the household ok) that deserve some grace

oh god... the karasunos. part one
because of this post, I remembered I never *talked* about the family in depth. Only Akira. SAD! I'm really bad at writing posts.
Anyways. The Karasunos. They're a Japanese family who happen to get screwed over by gods all the time. Again, SAD! Whether it be being cucked by the god of alcohol, getting trapped in a time loop by the time god, or becoming the eye of the goddess of the house, these lads are silly and very unlucky. So unlucky. (THIS IS A REALLY LONG READ)
I do need to clarify: because I haven't fully figured out all the names yet, some characters have placeholder names. Naomi Karasuno, Ryūji’s sister, is different from Chihiro Naomi Karasuno, who goes by Naomi, who is Akira's half-sister. I'm going to rename Naomi sr. soon.
For now, I'll outline the basic family tree, how old they are, and their cause of death. I don't care about Ken's parents so we start with Ken and co. God, how should I do this?
Benjamin "Ryūji" Karasuno:
born on June 9th, 1924, presumed dead on December 1st, 1960 (36)
Death unknown
Tidbits: Married to Megan Hano (deceased), left behind a son. Oldest brother of Ken and Naomi Karasuno. Legal name is Benjamin, but his birth name is Ryūji. Fought in ww2 for the Allies. Suffers from PTSD and depression. Is missing his right leg, although he has a prosthesis.
Naomi Karasuno, Sr.:
born on February 2nd, 1925, died on January 17th, 1955 (31)
Deadly accident
Tidbits: Left behind a daughter named Ana. Middle sister between Ryūji and Ken. Was a successful actress, starring in a number of movies. Mental health was a major issue she struggled with. Also struggled with physical health (was often sickly). Was very close to her little brother.
Ken Karasuno:
born on July 4th, 1931, died on September 7th, 1952 (21)
Beaten to death
Tidbits: Dated Charlotte Beauregard (deceased). Left behind no children. Was fascinated with movies, baseball, and planes when he was alive. Utterly alone for most of his childhood. Corpse was missing an eye. Majored in psychology in college.
Mein Gott. I love all these idiots. I think this clears up a lot of the weirdness about the Karasunos. Ken *is* the hot great-grand-uncle I mentioned in my Akira post! He is. He's attractive. Ryūji is also attractive. I like men. BUT I ALSO LIKE WOMEN NAOMI SR IS VERY PRETTY SHE HAS KIND EYES AND NICE HAIR.
I'm a little hesitant to actually get into their backstories. I haven't discussed Akira and his sister either because I'm afraid their backstories are too gory for Tumblr. Uh... Just as a hint for Ken, "He spent 3-4 years in the Japanese internment camps when he was around 11 to 12. So that sort of filth has been with him for a *while*. I really thought about the Corruption’s influence on him not in the Jane Prentiss bugs and filth way, but that the Corruption also represents toxic relationships. Ken clings to relationships all the time." is an actual paragraph I typed up. I actually get sad recounting Ken's death and his backstory, so I'm pretty hesitant to talk about it. Sorry. Basically: I didn't give the lad a break. I haven't really worked out the specifics of Naomi Sr's individual backstory.
So! I'll talk about Ryūji. My beloved! He deserves a break. His leg was blown off when he was 19, in ww2. So he has a prosthesis! He returned home from the war much different than he started, and he often fought with his little brother. He met Megan when he was 26, and they started dating when he was 27 and they got married when he was 29. When he was 28, the news broke out that Ken was murdered. At 32, he heard the news about Naomi sr's death.
His mental health had already suffered greatly over the years, but Naomi's death was the last straw. So his search began.
He didn't have a very good grasp of the arcane, and how that works in my universe, but I'm pretty sure he encountered Noche (my god of death) at one point during his recovery from his leg getting blown off. So he did know magic existed. He began researching stories of necromancy and the afterlife, fairytales, and any sort of 'folktale' he could get his hands on. His research often appeared as a component of his ramblings as he talked on the radio show he hosted, barely discussing the weather and news while he dedicated all his time to figuring out one question: how could he fix everything? How could he get his siblings back?
This question was answered when he stumbled upon an artifact: a pocket watch owned by Alistair, the time god. It had the power to turn back time. If he prevented Ken's death, wouldn't everything be oh, so better? Naomi sr.'s health wouldn't have declined. He wouldn't have so much grief. And his little brother and sister would be back. So he set out to steal Alistair's pocket watch.
After having a heated argument with his wife (she was in the right, tbh, he was obsessed but tbf to Ryūji he is VERY mentally ill), he left the house on his quest for the pocket watch. Which he never achieved.
Before he could use the pocket watch, Alistair warped into existence, stopping Ryūji before he could do anything. As punishment for his theft, Alistair sent him to a time loop inside of Alistair's little dimension (I'll explain later), where ryūji has been for 60 years, repeating the same day, over and over again.
At least he has a cat.
I'm going to make more Karasuno posts later. Not in order. But an important note idk if I said before: Ryuji is Akira's great-grandfather. Woah, connections! I like Ryūji a lot. He's silly when he's not stressed. His pet cat is named Whitney and she is very fluffy and stinky :)

Life After Death is a Slice of Death Romantic Drama that takes place within the afterlife. It’s rated 18+ for depictions of violence, sexual themes, alcohol use, explicit language, and, of course, death.
Tumblr media
You’re dead.
It’s still something that you have to get used to. That you were happily, or at least you told yourself anyway, living your life within the world of the living only to end up in the world of the dead by nightfall— Elysium isn’t exactly what you were expecting, the bustling city being an eclectic mix of various points in history, but you’re certain you could be in worse places.
Making a new “life” within the walls of the ever-growing city seems an almost impossible task.
That is until a kind stranger, garbed in Victorian-Era clothing, offers you a place to stay at the Silver Towers; an apartment complex that has all walks of life seemingly crammed into its well-structured walls.
Will you be able to find your place among the new ensemble of people? Will you be able to find a connection with someone that you had never been able to create in life?
Only time will tell as your afterlife commences.
Tumblr media
Customizable MC: Name, appearance, gender (female, male, and non-binary), sexuality, smattering facets of your life before death, and more!
Detail how your MC feels about their death and the world that they’ve left behind? Happy, sad, angry?
Discover all that Elysium, and its many Districts, have to offer as you meet more and more people.
Engage in a romance with 1 of 6 romantic options— from the kindly stranger to an ancient warrior. Each one gives you an insight into a world that seems so far from your own.
Forge friendships that will last through time.
Follow your MCs journey as they discover what their Life After Death will truly entail.
Tumblr media
Edward/Elizabeth Clarke: A soft-spoken individual, with a heart of gold, and a penchant to help those in need. They also happen to be the very individual that offers you a place to stay within the Silver Towers. [PROFILE]
Kaspian/Kassandra Drakos: Hot-blooded and slightly obtuse, Kas is an individual from Ancient Greece; a Spartan Warrior that still has some of their old teachings ingrained in their very being, even after all these years. [PROFILE]
Jace/Jade Reed: Your new roommate who, fortunately for you, seems to have come from the same time as you. With a sunny smile and excitable disposition, they’re clearly a person that anyone could go to if they needed a shoulder to cry on. Only time will tell if they have one as well. [PROFILE]
Yvan/Yvonne DeLuca: The owner of the most influential club within all of Elysium— Afterlife. A rather on-the-nose name, of course, but that doesn’t stop the lines from forming throughout the night. With ambition running through their veins, and a silver tongue, nothing has ever made them slow down. [PROFILE]
Gabriel/Gabriella Caelius: An Angel sent from Heaven to watch over Elysium— a post that seems to have been subjected to for quite some time if their total apathy towards the city at large is anything to go by. It’s clear they want nothing more than to leave, but aren’t able to. [PROFILE]
Celian/Céline Keres: The Mayor of Elysium, maintaining order within a place that is simply a waiting room for most of the inhabitants within, who has a reputation for being cold; not wanting anything to mess with the city they love so much. Of course, another moniker is commonly attached alongside their name— The Grim Reaper. [PROFILE]

Main d20 fandom that hates on kipperlilly for being mentally unwell, for being angry and confiding in a trusted adult about said anger and then dying and coming back serving a distorted goddess of conquest and rage im so happy for you not ever having a genuinely fucked up thought because being an angry person and having thoughts of wanting to physically harm someone because of something truly childish is not a hell i would wish upon anyone but lord have mercy should any of you meet someone irl like that i hope you treat them with respect knowing that feeling insurmountable anger and not being able to truly understand why you are that way is not something that anyone who feels that way wants.
And i personally hope i never meet any of you and i think some of you should analyze how you talk about fictional characters with very real mental illnesses because YES it’s fucked up that she was jealous of riz for having this tragic backstory, but have any of you considered the fact that she was working through it with jawbone and then she fucking died and is in service to a corrupted god of conquest and rage and lost her closest friend and now has so much anger in her that she is now forced to put somewhere
Anyway apologies for the rant/wall of text i just find kipperlilly and the rat grinders as a whole very interesting and knowing how others perceive primarily kipperlilly deeply annoys me, especially now that im completely caught up with fhjy, and if some of (or most of i know how i sound most of the time) this reads as condescending or similar it’s because i was a bit upset when i started writing it lmao i have since calmed down
