Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

It's been in the 90s (°F) all week where I live, but catch me drinking hot drinks.

1 shot of espresso

1 tbsp Pumpkin spice syrup

1 - 1 1/2 cup steamed milk

Milk foam

Notes: I used 6oz of regular coffee instead of espresso as I do not have an espresso maker.

I used 2% milk. Generally, milks with higher fat contents get frothier more easily. Oat milk is known to be a good vegan/non-dairy substitute that still froths nicely.

Pumpkin Spicy Syrup:

I followed the second recipe by Living Well Mom because I did not have any allspice on hand.

1 cup water

3/4 cup pumpkin puree

1 cup brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla (I used imitation vanilla because it's cheaper)

2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp ground cloves

Whisk all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the mixture begins to boil, turn down the heat to simmer for 2 minutes. Use fresh or allow to cool and jar. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

Use 1 tbsp of syrup per cup of coffee, add more syrup to taste.

Steamed/Frothed Milk:

Add 1/2 cup of milk to a saucepan. Heat to approximately 150°F/65°C. Use a milk frother to create foam. This is the frother that I have.

Assembling the Drink:

Add espresso to a mug.

Mix in pumpkin spice syrup to taste.

Pour in steamed milk.

Top with foam.

Dust with cinnamon if desired.

I saw that post recently about that fall drink, apple cider, chai, and caramel. Well, I tried making it, and the milk in the caramel immediately curdled cause of the apple Cider so like.... how are you supposed to make it? advice appreciated

I didn't have any caramel sauce on hand, but I attempted a makeshift Fall Drink anyway. Because I misremembered the post, I ended up using a packet of powdered vanilla chai latte mix and one of powdered spiced cider, and just pouring in hot water, for an even simpler version.

It's actually very good as is! The spices blend well, and the milk and vanilla end up really enhancing the thing. I'll have to pick up some caramel soon, try adding that in.

(I should probably try the original recipe, using chai bags, but I've consistently had trouble with tea from bags. I always forget it's steeping, or I take it out too soon, or something; the upshot is that I have terrible tea afterwards. It's weird. Probably growing up Mormon doesn't help; I don't have the tea experience others do.)

This is my homemade cider I made in Mid-October. It will be sacrificed in the name of Fall Drink™️. First we make it boil so it’s warm enough for the Chai Bag.

(Author’s Note: Homemade Apple Cider is the only Apple Cider I have had. It tastes like Apple Juice)

Actually now that I think about it, you could just make Apple Cider by heating up Apple Sauce and draining the mushy bits.

Made fall drink w/ local honeycrisp cider for pumpkin carving time & about to again, before trunk-or-treating, because omw was it so good.

The packet stuff is still good, but this is next level – prime holiday fare.

I added a dash of pumpkin spice seasoning to my coffee yesterday morning. Smelled great, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it in terms of flavoring. When I go to the store this week, I am going to get some things to make a pumpkin spice simple syrup that I will add to my coffee. If it turns out any good, I will share the recipe. Would you guys be interested in autumn themed recipes? I want to bake and cook more autumn recipes this year, and if anyone is interested, I will definitely share those here.

Here’s how I want robin in the next battinson movie:

The very first scene is Bruce and tiny Dick Grayson sitting across from each other at the dining table, staring each other down in silence, both clearly grumpy about it. Alfred is in the background watching them with concern. The silence lasts about 20 seconds before Dick speaks.

“Let me fight crime.” (said with all the petulance of a pouty 10 year old)

Bruce replies immediately. “No.” (this is clearly an ongoing argument)

Immediately cut to the next scene where Dick, wearing the iconic Robin suit, is having the time of his life swinging across the city while Bruce frantically tries to keep up with him while yelling at him to be careful like an anxious mother
