I use the Procreate app for all of my digital art! ✨

It should be available on any iPad 💗 I personally invested for my birthday this past year and I have the 12.9" M2 iPad Pro, but I'll even occasionally use my fiancé's iPad Mini and the Procreate app on there in a pinch since it's so small and portable~

The only real difference is that performance might suffer a bit, the larger an art piece is or how many layers your work has, depending on the iPad. But if you're just starting out, I probably wouldn't find that to be much of an issue!

There's definitely a learning curve, especially if you're more used to drawing traditionally! It can help to still sketch traditionally (if that's what you're used to) and then upload a photo of your drawing to your tablet to work over digitally (this is personally how I started out and I used to just make little digital doodles by tracing and coloring over my traditional sketches.)

My very first digital art set up was actually a tiny Wacom Bamboo tablet where the drawing space probably wasn't even bigger than my hand, and a super old bootleg version of Photoshop CS2 which was already a version that was 7 years too old for the time (CS5/CS6 was the most updated version by the time I had started on digital art).

Everyone else in my class had the bigger/fancier/professional-grade Wacom Intuos and I remember my professor taking one look at my baby tablet and just going like "how tf are you drawing on that" lmao.

But still! Experimenting and doing little exercises can get you a long way – I would say to approach it with similar exercises you would do as if you were learning to draw traditionally for the first time.

Shade in circles/nail down basic lighting. Gesture drawings. Random scribbles. Just things that help you get used to the feel of digital art!

Test out different textures you can achieve with one brush, then expand it to see how other different types of brushes can behave and add to the experience.

For proof that even just one brush and not the best/most updated tools can work: these are two of my first more "serious" digital art projects I did in college (with my tiny tablet and mega outdated version of Photoshop) and 99% of the rendering was just done with the "soft airbrush" brush.

But even then, we were taught to create our base sketches traditionally and upload them to the program to work over.

Then one day I decided I wanted to just be able to also do all my sketches digitally and just worked on getting used to sketching straight on my digital program. It was then that besides the all-powerful undo-redo buttons, I started to really make use of the transform/canvas flip/liquify features which I don't think I can live without now lol. (Caveat: I'm now a little too dependent on those features so I keep a traditional sketchbook to do silly doodles in occasionally to exercise my hand because sketching traditionally without the buffer of those digital tools is pretty difficult for me now lol.)

That was a little long-winded, I'm so sorry hahaha. I hope something in this rambling could be taken as somewhat helpful for starting out on digital art!! 💗

His episode “Turning the tide” is easily one of my favorites, his introduction is AMAZING like fr it was literally a fucking megabot getting out from beneath the water to rescue a rescue bot??? 10/10 entrance

All that aside, what i love most about him is his personality, like I already have a soft spot for grumpy characters *cough* HW, Ratchat *cough* and he is one of them grumpy beautiful characters, but i think the appeal of his character is enhanced by everything else, like the way he talks sailor style, the fact he’s besties with OP which is pretty interesting and he LITERALLY HAS HIS HELPER BOT SERVO WHICH IS SO ADORABLE

I also find it interesting how he’s so adamant about not changing his ways at the beginning, he’s very resistant to change and that can be for a lot of reasons, but Hightide does give me the vibes of something who witnessed partners and soldiers fall when he was helpless to protect them, he’s the classic case of veteran who’s very strict and harsh but cause he cares deeply

Hightide kinda reminds of tfp Magnus, struggles with adaptation and change, but will do so if it means it’s what’s best for the team he’s on, which we see clearly at the end of his episode, he just needed that extra nudge, an extra perspective in which he sees how that change is positive

I absolutely love his interactions with Heatwave, cause both of them are as grumpy as one can get and neither is up for the other’s bullshit which is hilarious, I do love how they both are really similar in so many ways yet can’t get along for the life of them hdhdhdh

And just like HW, he’s an amazing guy once you get to actually know him beneath all that grumpiness hahaha

What i find even funnier is the fact he’s absolutely up for partying and such, the scene with him literally jumping only to go “Canon ball!!“ in the spirit of All Spark day is everything to me dhhdhd

And can I talk about how much I ADORE the nicknames he uses for everyone?? Comedy gold I could listen to him talk for days

I think Hightide is genuinely a great character, and I’m kinda sad he wasn’t very present in the show, and so far from what i know, no other appearances in other shows which is a bummer, I’d love to see more of him cause from my contact of TF media Hightide is the very first character I’ve seen that’s water based, which makes him unique in my eyes and i think the franchise could use him more

do you have opinions on cbt

Hahaha everyone has opinions on CBT. For the radical queer trauma therapist circles I run in I’m actually pretty pro-CBT. For the average person involved in mental/behavioral health, I’m probably anti-CBT. 

[For context, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a famously evidence based type of therapy which works by targeting thoughts/cognitions. It theorizes that thoughts cause behaviors which cause feelings which cause thoughts all around and around in a spiral of doom for which the easiest intervention is targeting the thoughts. It can be very regimented, hence it’s easily studied, hence why it’s so “evidence based.” You basically identify “cognitive distortions” like catastrophizing (I failed my exam and so I’m going to fail out of school and live in a cardboard box) and reality-check them (it’s one exam in one class and I can still pass the class if I get a decent grade on my final). You also identify the thought/feeling/behavior spiral (thought=I failed -> I will be homeless, feeling=fear, shame, behavior=avoiding the professor and anything associated with the class.) It’s definitely bigger and more complicated than that, but you get the idea.]

For a lot of people with anxiety and with OCD especially, it can be so life changing. 

For a lot of people, especially people who are trauma survivors or whose presenting problems are connected to trauma, it can feel like gaslighting. 

(Fun fact! Part of the reason TF-CBT (trauma focused CBT) has such solid evidence behind it is that it ignores the wild survival bias in its studies. People who have a lot of trauma or really intense PTSD tend to drop out. Those who stay mostly have success with it and provide happy little data points)

I think certain parts of CBT can be so useful – noticing thoughts, identifying cognitive distortions, checking in with reality – and I think using the triangle with clients (the little triangle of “thoughts,” “emotions,” “behaviors”) can be super useful, and I do it fairly often.

Personally, I find a lot of my clients can do (most of) the mental/cognitive work on their own – what they really need help with from a trained professional is actually a felt sense of safety and emotional processing which require therapeutic flexibility and other modalities -- and a longer period of work.  

Some people like a very concrete, structured approach, especially if they’re new to therapy or skeptical of the value of therapy. Also, a lot of people only can access therapy for a short time and a lot of people only want to be in therapy for a short time, and you can make changes quickly with CBT. Also, from the therapist end, there are a million free CBT trainings and workshops you can do vs. most other modalities where you have to pay $1000s for trainings (on top of getting a graduate degree). 

Insurance companies and payers in general LOVE CBT because it’s structured, evidence-based, and short-term. You also require clients to do homework, which is basically like extra therapy time you don’t have to pay the clinician for. You can also train people in it pretty easily. I think it’s important to understand *why* CBT is held up as the best/standard therapy type now, and it has a lot less to do with CBT itself and more to do with service provision and structural factors around paying for therapy and with what can be effectively researched. 

I’m reading Richard Schwartz’s “No Bad Parts” right now about Internal Family Systems therapy, and I’m now thinking of CBT within that framework. Basically, CBT is an effective part of the overall therapy system but it’s being asked to do too much, and so is overfunctioning and causing problems. We really should just let it settle into its own niche. 

It’s not my therapy niche! But it has a place. 

(If you were asking about Cock and Ball Torture therapy that would probably fall under the category of “experiential” therapy. Not sure it’s really been studied, but I’m sure there would be enthusiastic participants.)

I literally have no idea where it came from but modern au, you’re a patron at thatch’s bar, you go there often and are friendly with thatch bc he’s a nice guy. Friends with Luffy. You go to said bar, having a great time with your friends, whitebeard crew shows up bc it’s thatch’s place obvi, but some other crew busts in trying to pick a fight. Somehow you get yoinked as a hostage bc the other crew wants to fight somewhere else (a trap duh) and it’s not a situation where they can get you out safe so they’re like yes we’ll fight you at this location but Marco is like I wanna come too, prolly cause he feels responsible maybe you were by the whitebeard crew bc you were luffy’s friend or you were flirting with Marco and that’s why you got snatched

And the baddies they’re like fine fine but it’s seastone cuffs. They got beef with him or something so they were down, plus having one of their fighters tapped out seemed smart

So you go off with them and both of you are just subconsciously trying to protect the other Marco even has you come sit on his lap bc the sketchy van you’re put in has stuff all over the floor and you’re wearing shorts/skirt and it’s conveniently freezing in the van so like, y’all can warm eachother up

And the baddies are like oh wait is it the Phoenix’s gf is that why he wanted to come and they’re taunting like oh the things we could do to your little gf and Marco is like just remember the cuffs won’t be on forever

Anyways they drive y’all around until the meeting time maybe taunting or roughing poor Marco up a little and finally they all meet up at this trap location except obvi the whitebeard pirates are gonna kick ass and come to the rescue and they take you back with them to heal any injuries/make sure you ok

Oh no one of the baddies gets away and starts posting all over the dark web about the phoenix’s weakness and everyone is like oh you’re in danger guess you gotta stay with us for awhile

And Marco was so nice so you just have a huge crush but he somewhat avoids you bc he feels responsible so you’re like oh he does not like me back oh ok

And idk they’re loosely mafia ish so some shenanigans ensue of people coming after you but Marco is always there to protect you and the tension is off the charts

An Author friend of mine - far more successful and suited to the job than I am - said something once that really sticks with me.

The ideas are the easy part, writing is the hard part.

Some people will come to her with ideas, and want some sort of 50/50 deal for doing "half" the work, and honestly, no matter how well fleshed out the idea is, it's barely going to be 5% of the process at best.

I don't share that to put your idea down, not even a little, but I do mention it to highlight that you're not wrong. Turning ideas into stories is the hard part, and honestly I always love seeing that truth understood too. (Real fun is when you apply that to other things and realize that certain types who have "great ideas" are rarely the ones who make them reality, but they really want to continually tell you how great their ideas are changing the world >.> )

So - I have to admit I have a Mafia AU Marco story I'm slowly working on. It's pretty complex so far, intended as a slowburn anyway, and I really want to incorporate this idea into it. I just love the vibes.

AND - lol - one of the points I wanted to sort out for it was specifically having the reader end up in the Main House for the Whitebeard Mafia family. This idea is PERFECT, a few adjustments for the reader type and the AU itself, and the vibes are there. It's a Devil Fruit AU too, so >.>

the reader as a hostage gets Marco as a "hostage", they're supposed to let her go at that point, but someone gets the brilliant idea that the girl keeps the bird inline, and Pops' prize bird keeps the other boys inline, so they're keeping both.

The idea of the doomed kidnappers thinking the two are together works, it'll be the 2nd or 3rd time they've met and yeah, there's been flirting, but nothing committal. So her staying at the Main House for protection still leave Marco with a sour taste - he does like her, but this situation isn't fair. He's too laid back and experienced to blatantly avoid her, but he makes sure there's always someone else around, excusing himself before his brothers can "leave the two of them alone" or anything.

In this particular story the reader is an adopted kid of Big Mom's, trying to get away from the mafia life to some degree, and more than that to avoid being married off for whatever reason by Big Mom in the first place. (this is grumbled about in the first chapter, so it's not some big reveal). That certainly adds another layer to things, especially if Lin-Lin sees it as an in to tie the two families together.

Why did you start writing? I’m honestly curious bc of your major and how busy it seems, like would you be able to balance writing and working in your chosen career field? Or is writing just a hobby and something for right now but not something you’re going to stay doing? (Sorry for these random and long questions!)

V I thought you were going to bed 😂 but random questions are fun so don’t apologise I like having convos like these it makes me think.

So in terms of starting to write, I’ve always loved creative writing since primary school and I found I was quite good at it by the time i reached high school (my english grades were tops). Like every time we had a creative writing assignment I’d smash it because I’m quite a creative person and have always found it easy to put things into words. I’ve come up with plenty of concepts the main four or five would be —

1. Scorchrose (which is quite complex and it’s about a vampire named Caelius Scorchrose who buys slaves from the black market of Rorrim (which is the realm that’s opposite to earth) so he buys them to kind of keep them safe in a sense because monsters of Rorrim are very unforgiving and will do anything and everything to humans because they can. So the main character Amara (she’s black and IK HOW IT LOOKS NO THIS IS NOT A NOD TO SLAVERY I SWEAR i just wanted to create someone that looked like me yk) is bought however she’s a bit different, she smells a bit different and it’s not often they get high quality blood through the black market auction so everyone jumps on this opportunity but Cae is the highest bidder naturally (he’s the founder and owner of a pharmaceutical company that deals in both Rorrim and earth) and then they’re relationship transpires — i made a map of Rorrim and everything (social classes, primary monster species, all with their own little kingdoms and laws, etc.

Let’s not talk about the werewolf orgy (where we get this is hotter with context I swear 😂 we get to meet Dimitri(os) for the first time (yes he’s the leader of the species)). I have a few unfinished scenes floating around my laptop for this story (yes I have some of the orgy scene written) — I can go on and on about this story

2. The Butterfly Effect which is now a mammon fic on my blog of that same name but it used to be a larger story of a prince/ royal or someone of that social class and a tracker. Now this whole story included topics of racism because there were two races called the Etherians (which is our tracker, her name is Seeris (Sear-ris)) and the Kertisian (Ker-tee-jan (pronounce the j like in jean) (which is our royal, his name is Dante). So the whole first chapter was what happens in the fic but the kicker is that you see Dante is engaged to a Kertisian well he just bred with an Etherian so uhh guess who’s pregnant. It was gonna be a whole lot of drama kinda delving into the realm of racism and social class, and SCIENCE I was gonna geek tf out with it but never got to finishing it. My first reader of that story was @the-australian-editor hahaha the way she loves that story.

3. Octavia which was really a self insert cause I was obsessed with the idea of space pirates. So this concept was turned into ‘Catch Me If You Can’ with Geto. The Geto fic was from a particular scene I was compelled to write. So that one was about captain y/n (in this case) and her crew stealing from the Paragon (think of them as the top 1% of those who roam space so your government officials, celebrities, kings, queens, etc.) and their whole journey being on the run. And who better to go after the captain of the notorious Octavia (that’s the ship’s name) than her ex lover. I made names for the different species of aliens that make up the crew and basically wrote little profiles for them and where they came from (and what those planet environments were like)

4. Honey which I scrapped entirely, it was gonna be your typical mafia love story. So Honey is set in Valencia, Spain and Honey the main character she’s been adopted by a family (she doesn’t know that she’s adopted - her birth parents gave her up when she was an infant). She works in the museum there and she meets a strange old man, who invites her to dinner (she refuses at first but in this case you can’t actually refuse the don of the biggest mafia in Valencia) so she goes there for dinner and she meets this man’s son, after a while she finally asks what this is all about and the father says “well according to the deal your parents made you are to marry my son”. It was a very loose and kinda cliche plot so I scrapped it.

5. Ray and Camille doesn’t have a title offically, but it’s about two opposites the sun and the moon. So Ray is born from a coronal mass ejection from the sun during a solar hurricane (the amount of research I did for this was insane, cause I wanted it to make logical sense) so the earth is not actual earth it’s like a pooh’s version of earth for the plot. So baby boy is from the sun and in the year XXXX he lands in Abadonia, more on the outskirts in this sweet black lady’s yard (she’s our mother figure of the story as is common for all beings from outer space). She raises him and as Ray grows he discovers his powers of light and heat (the sun) and uses them to become Abadonia’s hero essentially. Now Camille is cursed, our villainess and Ray’s arch nemesis. Her whole role is to bring about the end of the world (think enchantress from the suicide squad how she possessed Cara Delevingne’s character and wants to fuck shit up). Her curse comes from the moon, it was put upon her by her family who dealt in some shady magics. The whole thing is about their power struggle of being polar opposites, and the drive to stop Camille (does he kill her or does he try and save her from her curse). But yeah another scrapped idea cause it’s very very loose and cliche.

But as for why I started writing on tumblr, really it was to share my creativity with someone, anyone who was willing to read. I love story telling and I’ve had a lot of ideas over the years and I thought why not give it to an audience. Fanfic writing pretty much created a safety net because it has such a large demographic so it ensured my work would be read by someone and it’s easy to write these characters into a unique and creative narrative. Then the more I wrote the more I actually enjoyed writing fanfics and it grew into such a cool community so quickly, I met mutuals and now we’re here.

If we’re talking about the topic of my degree that’s really for stability reasons (and I really love science), if I could do creative writing I would but I just don’t see myself becoming an author hahaha it’s a very competitive and brutal occupation, not to mention making it big is difficult as well so it’s safer to do science because there will always be a need for science and I’ll never be without a job.

I think writing is more so a hobby than something I’d do for a job long term. I just really enjoy writing and sharing it with everyone and that’s enough for me. I’ll definitely do this tumblr and writing thing for as long as time lets me, I got plenty of juice in the tank so I won’t be stopping anytime soon 😊🤎.

Beel is a really hungry, active, an emotionally mature man who treasures family, naive and childlike.

When Beel first met you, he thought you would get along with Lucifer the most.

Beel thought of you as someone cold, and maybe a little intimidating because of the mature frame you presented yourself with. He thought you must be some high ranking official of Diavolo.

But Beel could see something quite off. You were... struggling. In something. He notices that every time you talk to someone like Mammon or Levi, you sharply remark them in a harsh tone and way, and then when they leave dejectedly, your frown. Frown... to yourself it seems?

He straight up went up to you with a poker face while munching on his burger. “Why do you look upset after you speak to someone?”

You were a little shocked by his sudden comment, but you looked at him with a frown, eyes a little softer however, “I never mean to be.... harsh..”

Beel blinked. From that point onwards, Beel was truly the only person who gets pass your blunt comments. You don’t mean it, and he assures you he’s alright. By talking to him a lot, getting over your rudeness and getting over his own guilt and be happy with where he is today... you and him feel a lot better. And you two are so truly inseparable.

He flashes you a clumsy, lighted with pure joy grin, crumbs sticking from the corners of his mouth like a goof, as you scoffed, but wore a small, genuine smile. <3

Belphegor:

The clever trickster and liar, grudge holding, proactive, efficient, sensible and mellow, rebellious and introverted Avatar of Sloth,

with a truthful and honest, forgiving, passive, I won’t say foolish but you’re more emotionally intelligent, quite harsh and blunt (perhaps unintentionally-), obedient and extroverted human.

How did this even combust well?

Belphie never understood this either. How in Hell did he manage to even befriend a human, much less someone of the complete opposite of him?

While he’s okay with you as acquaintance in the beginning, he was quite irritated by how bubbly and talkative you were. He’ll interrupt you by mumbling curses, lightly throwing a pillow to ask you to back off. He thinks you were quite naive to let him out of that cell, and you’re talkative nature, stereotypically to him, reflects that.

Belphie also thinks you’re really soft. You accepted that you’ll die because of him, and listen to what Lucifer says always. Such a doll, he thought.

Belphie dragged his way down the stairs, yawning as he lazily blinked. He sees you down at the living room... eating and having some crazy fun with a video game on silent..? Yo- Lucifer isn’t even up at this hour- How tf are you awake? How tf is HE awake??

Well, Belphie doesn’t really care by this point, but he walks up to you with a glass of milk he poured for himself. “What the fck are you doing..?” “Playing Levitating Adventures from Levi. Wanna play?”

He blinked. That... used to be him, Levi and Beel. They rarely do that nowadays. He shrugs, plopping himself on the couch as he took a control, playing with you. Eventually, it just became yourself playing as he quietly cheer for you, well, in a Belphie way- 

Belphie quietly listened to you ramble about your day, Beel, what Barbatos made, what troubles Mammon caused, Luke baked a cake with Solomon and so on, like what he does with you one every other day after this event.

He looks down, and suddenly hits you with the question. “Are you... mad at me for... you know... killing you..?” You blinked at him. “Well, I’m alive now, and your intentions had meaning I can’t wrong you for. I mean, having someone die because of a species... I don’t blame you.” He grabbed your shoulders in fast motion, looking at you with eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

“BUT WHY?! I- I-” he lost his ability to speak. You placed a hand on his arm, and gently guided them back to his side. “You... looked so sad that... I couldn’t do anything...” He stares at you with an unreadable expression.

“Belph-” he suddenly hugged you, stuffing his face in the crook of your neck. “Belphie..?”

“Don’t say a word,” he whispers, “just... I...”

You smiled softly, wrapping your arms around him as well. “Sorry is hard to say, but know that I’ll always forgive you.” <3

tokyo revengers idol au hcs part 3 that no one asked for AGAIN here’s part 1 and part 2 to get a better understanding.  this is what the members would be doing alongside their idol promotions+ what they would post on social media  toman tbh these guys are all just so damn funny on their own that they would constantly be invited to comedy variety shows. maybe perhaps doing something similar to seventeen or wanna one where they even have their own variety show on youtube (ie. seventeen’s-going seventeen series or wanna one’s show on mnet)  mikey-he would post basic food pics like of his parfaits or taiyaki but also it’s rare because he’d constantly forget his password. however on important days he’ll post long emotional and sentimental posts that hit you in your feels thanking his members and fans always. he also has a youtube channel posting random funny vlogs. draken- he has his own personal soundcloud to upload solo mixtapes/songs feat diff members. posts photos of his bikes and different tattoos he would be getting. responds with 1-2 words to fans during fansigns or ig comments but like mikey, once in a while, will also write heartfelt posts thanking everyone.  baji- his ig feed is filled with animals + dance practice vids. also has his own soundcloud too. trolls his members by commenting on their stuff. “delete this u ugly mf no one wants to see this”.  takemichi- very chatty, (sometimes too chatty where he’ll end up accidentally spoiling their next album info) and interactive on social media to his fans. tries his best to respond to most comments or ama ig stories questions. posts a lot of selfies and photos of his members. king of fan service.  chifuyu- beautiful photos of the sky a lot on his ig (in canon he wanted to be a pilot :,) ) along with cute soft selfies. (which baji and kazutora troll and comment being like “damn....u ugly AF!” “lmao stop pretending to act cute u loser”  kazutora- his ig is filled with pure chaos. just pics of him catching his members slipping (sleeping photos where they’re drooling or have their eyes slightly open or making ugly faces behind the scenes). also has photos of cursed memes and memes made by fans. he’s a literal enigma.  mitsuya- very wholesome ig photos- lots of photos of his family, group photos, sometimes cool artsy edited selfies. occasional photoshoot photos.  hakkai- ig is filled lots of #ootd photos and occasional photos from his modeling or acting gigs (he’s the visual, duh!) gets a lot of sponsorships from big brands.  pah-chin: has a joint youtube channel with peyan. they do silly challenges but will sometimes post dance videos (feat. baji) since they’re the main/lead dancers. fans love him because of his “matter-of-fact” responses that are funny without even trying. bonten because this group’s concept and aesthetic is mysterious, mature, artsy, gloomy, and dark they will take this concept to the grave. (minus a few exceptions) they are invited to variety/talk-shows but never make an appearance because they want to keep the air of mystery around them. (it’s a good marketing technique).  mikey- does not have any social media. he does have a private account to lurk around but no one knows what it is.  kokonoi- has a youtube channel but it’s locked and you have to pay to get into it. posts super short vlogs and teasers. thats it. (the ultimate scam! but their fans love them too much to notice). lots of sponsored #ootd posts on ig.  kakucho- he would be modeling ONLY high fashion brands and high end editorial places. his instagram is just his exquisite and expensive modeling photos whether it be candid backstage photos from shows, candid runway walk pics/vids, pics of diff photoshoots you name it. doesn’t really comment much.  ran- visual. similar to kakucho- modeling ONLY high fashion brands and editorial places. instagram is filled with modeling photos but also some artsy scenery pics he took.  rindou- posts short artsy dancing clips (like modern dances in black&white filter) on ig.  sanzu- since he’s the other visual, he also posts a lot of his modeling/acting photos on instagram. also pretty chatty (he’s the exception) on social media and loves teasing and trolling fans. posts with a lot of random cute emojis on everything. “just ate lunch and now im off to practice hehe 🍜🍇🤟💃🤠🧚‍♂️💞🦋” no one really knows why he uses random emojis but it’s just endearing lmao.  kanji- no social media at all.  akashi- manager....or if you made him the rapper in this au then he too would also not have any social media.
