I was going through your Laurel tags because apparently I missed a whole lot of reblogs and I enjoy reading tags you put on them, and I saw one you reblogged based on Reba’s ‘Survivor’ song and I just wanted to say: Laurel is a single mom because she basically adopted Thea and was the only one to ever actually make sure Thea was taken care of doing okay. We didn’t get as many moments between them as I would have liked, but I think it was pretty clear Laurel did a hell of a lot more for her than Thea’s own brother did.
i wholeheartedly agree with you, anon! there was definitely a major 'divorced couple struggles to co-parent their daughter' dynamic between laurel and oliver when it came to thea. and an incredibly stereotypical one at that.
oliver…tried. i can give him that. he was well intentioned, he clearly loved thea very much, he did his best to keep her physically safe, but he also continuously made promises to be there for her and never followed through. he always let her down. he always ended up choosing felicity over her when he mattered, he rarely saw when she was having problems, unless they were super obvious ones like her drug use - and even then what did he do when her drug use got out of control? he handed her over to laurel and said fix this for me.
and she did.
because that was just how it was. laurel was the one constant thea had. she always showed up. she always cared about her emotional and mental well being as well as her physical well being. she always made sure there was space in her life for thea.
oliver chose brooding and keeping his dick wet over thea every chance he got.
meanwhile, the only thing that ever took laurel away from thea was death.
it was all very ''disney dad shows up when he wants to, consistently chooses new family, and mom gets to pick up the pieces and clean up the mess over and over and over until she literally fucking dies.''

So there is a "leaked" script that claims Eddie asked Marisol to move in, and is it just me, or is that completely out of character for Eddie? He dated Ana for longer, and they weren't living together. we are really supposed to believe that he would ask Marisol to move in after a few months of dating? Unless Eddie is unable to process anything after learning his Buck. Is dating a man that is not him, and instead of breaking up with her like he planned, he pulls a Buck and asks her to move in with him.
Eddie does not deserve to be stuck with someone like Marisol.
According to 7x04, he apparently needs a live-in babysitter so he can go out with his shiny new boyfriend. So… 🤣 And it took a whole relationship and a blackout before Ana was his babysitter! Just from that much I’m still going, yikes. Like, girl, do you not have friends? Do you not have someone who will tell you this relationship is red flags all over the place? Can we not call up your Folger brother and have him talk some sense into you?
You’re very right though. Eddie deserves so much better.
I have heard about the supposed leaked scripts and I’ll talk some about that under a cut below in case anyone wants to read my thoughts on it.
But what I’ll say in general is that in some of the interviews we’ve been seeing recently especially with canon bi!Buck, Mr. Showrunner had scathing things to say about love interests who are just there to be love interests. He didn’t like that they couldn’t interact with any of the other characters and that they weren’t part of the overall story.
Given we’ve had what, two? offhand comments and maybe five whole seconds of screen time this season with her, if they wanted to actually develop that relationship for the audience, they could have done that. And should have done that a long, long time ago. (For example, see Eddie and Tommy’s relationship. In one whole episode they did more to build that up than they have done for Eddie/allegedgirlfriendconfirmedterf in all of season 6 or 7.)
Instead, they showcased the bond between Buck and the Diazes and the trauma that Eddie and Chris still have over Shannon leaving and them losing her. And also Eddie’s new friendship with Tommy that sounded like they were both spending every day, every moment together.
So far for Miss Homophobe, we have—

Obviously, she’s in the next episode and they have a pizza date while Eddie has to stare at his bestest friends while they’re on a date. But at this point, if you want the audience to root for the relationship or enjoy it at the very least, it’s a little late in the game for that? We have nothing to go on and it doesn’t make sense if we’re taking it at face value.
All this to say, if he does ask her to move in with him, there is no way for the audience to buy that it’s genuine, reasonable, or a smart move. It reads like Buck asking Taylor to move in with him because he cheated and he’s desperate and clinging. Even if Eddie and the terf show up and are all happy and handsy and lovey, it’s not convincing. There’s been no development. It would come across like Buck and Ali apartment hunting and being touchy and giggly, and then her dumping him at the end of the episode. It sets up a contrast between what we think is happening and what is really happening. Perceived happiness vs the reality of not knowing each other and their relationship crumbling.
I don’t remember who said it or when it was said, maybe it was Kristen? But I know someone talked about how Eddie rushed things with Ana and they were wanting to do the opposite when continuing his story. Dating someone for (how long has it even been? 2-3 months? Idek? Does Eddie even know?) Mere months and asking them to move in reeks of, “something is going wrong and I have to fix it by doing something rash and ill-advised to keep us together.”
Remind me to do a post about Eddie also being someone who clings and stays because it’s convenient and he doesn’t want to be alone.
It would be completely out of character if it is a sincere, legit thing. However, as a panic response? I buy it. But that also doesn’t bode well for their future. Darn. Hold on, I’ll get the champagne. That relationship is just waiting to be bones. And in an episode called, “You Don’t Know Me,” is where they’re putting their relationship under a microscope? Hildy, cue up the ominous music.
I doubt the glorious day we are free of her will be this week. I think they are just starting whatever they have planned. Unfortunately. I would hope they kept her around and brought her back for a reason like what they did with Eddie/Ana. I want there to be something satisfying about the end and the fact that we have to suffer through this. It just needs to happen quickly because I am so over homophobic terfs who know what fucking show they’re on and what the story is and still persist in their assholish bigotry.
Now? My thoughts on the leaks?
IF we are to believe they are legit, and who knows if they are. But if we are saying they are legit, then Buck comes out to Eddie at the very end and Eddie is surprised. So, Eddie likely wouldn’t be jealous or weird about Buck and Tommy dating if he didn’t even know they are dating. Plus, they just had a whole episode dedicated to jealous!Buck and it would be redundant to immediately take that into, now EDDIE is the JEALOUS ONE. I think they’d have to take the story further for Eddie to really consider how he feels about Buck and Tommy dating.
Maybe it will come down to him being displeased by it (for some unknown reason he just can't put his finger on) and grappling with how he genuinely likes Tommy a lot and that’s a new thing for him and one of Buck’s love interests? But it wouldn’t happen this week. In theory, this week is about Buck feeling like he’s hiding because he just realized he’s bi and hasn’t told anyone yet. Hence, more of the “you don’t know me.”
Obviously, I am rooting for Buddie. All the way. All the time. I like Buck/Tommy just fine but they’re not BuckandEddie. But I think it will take a while before we see anything that might really develop the Buck & Eddie storyline. They’re working on Buck’s bisexual awakening and his first time dating a man. WHERE OH WHERE ARE MY EDDIE STORYLINES. I just want them to do some justice for my boy. Give him something interesting! And for the terf to gtf away from him. :D

I participated in Renegade Bindery's Binderary challenge this past February, and since it ended about two weeks ago it's probably time for me to start posting photos of the finished books, yeah? I made eleven books this year, many of which were multi-volume sets, and I'm going to start with the one that I had the most trouble with, Jane Austen's Persuasion. This project was nothing but trouble, and honestly every time I look at it I see nothing but its flaws. The cover is Allure book cloth from Hollander's (wisteria color; I bought it for another project last year and had a lot left over) with gold metallic HTV for the title and graphics. The last project I did with these materials was a dream; the cloth took HTV like a champ, better than any other project I'd done, and yet this time with the same roll of cloth and type/brand of HTV I couldn't get it to stick. You can see two spots where it's gone on crooked in the above photo, and below the cut you can see additional problems with the spine:
Yikes. It is peeling. I read the book once and it is peeling. I've never had this problem before; it won't always stick at first, but once I get it to stick it stays that way. Not this time.
Top view, with the endbands I sewed that have their cores visible. Again, not a problem I've had before but was a recurring theme this binderary; several of my Binderary books have it. Also platinum silk moire endpapers that were really hard to photograph and have both a wrinkle and a glue stain. It's my first time working with silk moire and I'm not sure I'm a fan, but three of the other books I made also have it and I didn't have nearly so may issues with them. So I think this book may have just been cursed. It's not pictured but the ribbon bookmark developed some kind of mysterious dark smudge in the middle somewhere between me gluing it in and me taking these photos. I do not know how this happened. The gilding went well though. That I can say.
Couple of images of the typeset. I had to print the title page twice because it came out streaky the first time. I actually really like the typeset, which is what makes the rest of the issues with this bind so frustrating. It's pretty! I did well on that part! I wanted the exterior to be just as pretty and I'm upset that it's not!
Fun fact: Persuasion was actually my least favorite Austen when I first read it. But I was in my early twenties then, and I thought it would be fun to bind myself a pretty copy since I didn't own one, and reread it and maybe have different feelings about it now I'm on the other side of thirty. And I did reread it after binding, and I do like it better, and I'm sad that the exterior parts didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. Half the reason I bind public domain stuff is so I can show off my skills to IRL people who aren't in fandom, and not have to explain what fanfiction is or why it has so many dicks in it, and there were so many issues here that I don't even want to do that.
The good news is that this was the low point of binderary and most of the other books gave me results I like better. I'm still doing titles for a lot of them, so we'll see how fast I can get them done and photographed, but I've definitely got more books in store in the near future.

What scene or moment do you feel isn’t discussed enough?
Every time Mickey has to say the end of his sentence directly into Ian’s mouth because Ian can’t wait the extra 3 seconds to let him finish, he needs his lips on that boy’s mouth NOW! They’re so precious and horny and I love that for them!

Hetty: Is that sarcasm I detect? As ghosts we're unable to turn pages of books, I am truly jealous of these... pixels?

Thor: Thor far prefers the moving picture box, a whole world is contained in there -

Thor: Also plenty of attractive people, removing clothes because of increasing temperature.
Sass: Actually...television may be a far better use of one's time...
Isaac: Well, I for one am far more partial to the written word than the trivial tales of man versus temperature. I imagine I'm reacquainting myself with the plays of Shakespeare or one of the great poets.

We also have this fine lake on our property (where there's absolutely nothing like a dead body submerged in it or anything like that)

Alberta: Well, when I was alive I had to wash my clothing myself, and not with these new-timey automatic washing machines, so I won't even complain about doing it.
Flower: Besides! Washing Machines are fun.

Now, usually the well-stocked and appointed kitchen of Woodstone is the domain of yours truly, but here in the game, our heroes are free to use it.
Alberta: Eating something prepared by Flower? Boy, that could end up very interesting, if you know what I mean.
Sass: Yeah, I know exactly what you mean, Alberta, and I'm not going to risk it.
Flower: Come on, guys, I'm not going to slip weed in your food, I mean unless you want me to.
This is something that will not happen at Woodstone, where all state and federal laws are strictly followed.

While I was definitely more critical about horse progression initially because it looked a Lot worse than it turned out to be I am still incredibly critical towards the features excessive reliance of taking already existing freely available features and now putting them behind a grind (there's no reason the faster gallop should be locked other than SSE needing Something There, no matter how easy it is to get, and it's also a bit of a Theme that I'm very very worried about but that's for a whole other rant)
And more than anything this shows itself in the Level 7 rewards. It is nothing but plain stupid to lock the gaits + moves behind a grind wall. I've already said that it's shitty to have something which the player already pays extra for at the beginning be locked behind extra time but that's not even the only problem with it.
Like. SSE. What the fuck were you thinking locking Gaited Horses behind a Training Feature. Like. The one thing which Still gets misinformed as being something riders Force On Horses? Something that real life people actually have to defend because gaited horses Are natural and Aren't trained Nevertheless abused to be gaited. And I'm mostly saying this because a lot of SSO players. do not know a lot about horses. And it's a very common misconception even in horse circles that gaits are Always forced upon horses and that simply isn't the case.
It's especially really fucking yikes with the Tennessee walker, which I'm pretty sure is 90% responsible for the misconception anyways, because while the Tennessee *is* naturally gaited when you say "tennessee walker" most people automatically think of Big Link which is basically the poster child of horse abuse and has been ever since it became a thing people knew about. So why in the absolute god damn hell is any, but Especially the tennessee walkers (who generally are a lovely representation of the breed because it actually features its natural gait) gaited horse in a subtle but already terrible way playing into this misconception.
Like it's just The most baffling choice ever and all of it is so clearly traceable to SSE wanting to make the feature big and significant but not having enough ideas to fill every other level with New Stuff so they resorted to locking old features anew which. Y'know. Turned out to be fucking stupid on so many levels.
#Once again I am Incredibly critical of the horse progression even if as I said my opinions have softened since the start of the year#But my critique remains about this particular choice#Locking gaits and moves is stupid both because it's shitty from a pure consumer level but also because it's such a batshit stupid decision#with some actually kinda terrible implications if u read too much into it#And horse game players#Love#Reading into things#sso#ssoblr#Meh fuck it maintag have a take#I haven't had one of those in a while I need to get back to my opinionated roots

Aaaand that's a wrap on that! I'm intrigued and I feel like this episode answered absolutely nothing but raised a whole lot of questions, which is, well, what a first episode should do. The animation is really sharp geez. I generally prefer 2D animation but there's a lot of character to the expressions and motions - I think they really pulled it off!

First fic: The Curious Case of Emma Cassidy. The very first fic I'd been inspired to write in years, and my first OUAT fic. I joined the fandom at the end of season 3 and was mildly obsessed with New York City Serenade, and wanted to explore what would have happened if Neal had joined Emma and Henry in New York (he didn't come over with the curse! Why would he have had to go back to the Enchanted Forest?). I think a lot of people skipped it because I was a new and unknown writer in the fandom (fair!), and because people mistakenly thought it was Neal/Emma fic (not fair, read the tags! Or as it was originally only posted to FFnet, read the pairing!).
Last fic: David Nolan Fucks Up Christmas. Written for OptomisticGirl herself! Goofy OUAT Christmas fic where Emma and Killian get snowed in at IKEA, because apparently people DID get snowed in at IKEA that year, although not on Christmas Eve.
Only once: Not totally sure here, since everything I have on AO3 is either Captain Swan or Captain Charming. When I used to do Kinky Prompts, I'm sure there were some pairings or groupings I only wrote once. But since that's not on AO3 anymore (and I don't have a copy, please don't ask for one), let's go with the divisive background Leopold/Regina pairing from With Affection.
Favorite fic from the fandom I've written in most: That'll be OUAT since everything I have on AO3 is OUAT. I have a lot of ones I like a lot, but I'd say my favorite might be Powerful Magic. I worked really hard on it, and I feel like it came together really, really beautifully.
Fic I wish more people read: Killian Jones, Concertmaster Extraordinaire. It's not perfect by any stretch, but I really like Killian's character arc and wish more people gave it a chance.
Fic I agonized over: LOL gotta be Falling Slowly. It took forever, and was very plot-heavy, and every time something changed on the show, I'd have to go back to the drawing board. I eventually gave up and wrote an author's note that was like, "Look, this is canon through this particular episode, I fucking give up."
Fic that sprang fully formed: You'll Know it's Him. I was spoiler-free after season 4 of OUAT, so I knew nothing about season 5B besides whatever people could guess from the finale of 5A. I knew that nothing I was going to write would come close to canon, but I just had this idea and had to get it down.
Work I'm proud of for any reason: A lot of them (particularly Powerful Magic; Killian Jones, Concertmaster Extraordinaire; and Falling Slowly listed above). But I think one that's not listed that comes to mind is Strange Bedfellows (which was a close second for "Fic I wish more people read"). I like the structure of the story, and while the twist is not really a twist, it was a lot of fun to put in anyway.

let’s say vegas and moonjo are acquaintances in someway.
maybe vegas studied in korea for a while and noticed some people in his uni going missing, maybe moonjo was involved with the korean mafia and vegas had to secure a partnership, maybe moonjo and jongwoo relocated to thailand to start a new life.
either way, they meet, they hit off, they exchange dental torture tips. vegas looks at moonjo being an absolute simp for jongwoo and thinks ‘rip to him but i’m different.’
then pete happens.
I go a little insane every time I think about what you sent here, honestly. It opens room to so many questions... Where, when and how Vegas and Moonjo could have met; their impressions of each other and the influence their partners have over them; Pete and Jongwoo’s own impressions of Vegas’s and Moonjo’s relationship… I mean, can you imagine the four of them in the same room, having a friendly chat? It has the potential to be really entertaining, and also to go so, so wrong.
But let’s stay focused (I'm trying! I'm really trying!).
First of all, I think the idea of Vegas getting exposed to the Very Normal Relationship™ of Moonjo and Jongwoo and his inner response to it being “that could never be me” is SO funny. Especially if it's not because they're weird, but because they're cringe. Count me in on the maiming and the torture, the manipulation and the emotional instability, but finding religion in a lover? Yikes. That’s the real crazy.
Bonus points in that scenario if Vegas and Moonjo were acquaintances before Moonjo found Jongwoo. It would totally go against Vegas’s expectations. Which is to say, no fucking expectations, have you met that guy? Moonjo cares about no one. At least Vegas has Macau, and his father (that doesn’t care about him in return, but one day he will, of course). Moonjo is completely alone. By choice. He can’t stand anyone. Not even the woman who raised him. Even the people he entertains himself playing mind games with, are eventually disposed of and forgotten. Vegas might find himself in a position where the two of them are able to (almost) see eye to eye, and socialize, but he would know better than to let his guard down around him. That’s not a man you can trust your life with. Or your head. Definitely not your head.
Which probably makes Vegas wonder, as of meeting Jongwoo, just who would be stupid enough to trust their heart with him?
And here comes the shocker, for Vegas, and maybe for everyone who has ever crossed paths with those two: that’s not what happened. Jongwoo isn’t some naive darling that fell madly in love with Moonjo without knowing what he was in for; he’s not a pet Moonjo is keeping around until he finds a more amusing one (that would be Kihyuk). Jongwoo actually did something extraordinary, when he didn’t even have the intention to: he made Moonjo vulnerable. He’s the one that got Moonjo’s heart in his hands. And for Vegas, who met Moonjo pre-Jongwoo, that is… bizarre. Surreal. Unbelievable. It makes no sense, because Moonjo is supposed to be like Vegas, and people like them never show weakness in front of anyone, because they know, they learned, that when you do that, you get hurt. You lose. You die.
But Jongwoo changed something in him. Moonjo could die by his hands, and he’d still feel like he won. There’s no bad nor wrong between them, therefore, he’d take anything Jongwoo gave him. There is no one else besides him, and no one after. Jongwoo changed him.
And yet, he didn’t change. For the rest of the world, Moonjo is still the same. He still lies, he still kills, and he still regards everyone with the same indifference he always did—only he has Jongwoo by his side now, and to him it makes all the difference.
Vegas wouldn’t know what that feels like. He doesn’t even want to. Rip to Moonjo, but he’s different. He’d never let someone have so much power over him. Maybe Moonjo can afford that, because, after all, he has nothing but himself and his art, but Vegas is a businessman, who has a legacy to carry on. One day, he’s going to rule an empire, and it’s going to be all his. He doesn’t need, doesn’t want to be helped or understood by anybody that’s not family. He’s different from Moonjo, and he’s different from Kinn. They are fools. They’re going to be betrayed, or killed, or left. They are going to suffer, they are going to lose, and it’s going to be their own fault. Vegas is better than that. He does the betrayal, the killing, and the leaving, before it’s done to him.
And for some time, that's all he believes in.
… Then Pete happens. Vegas happens to Pete, Pete happens to Vegas, and Vegas finally gets it.
When he loses, but Pete stays by his side, that makes all the difference.

On a more lighthearted note, was the timeskip (aside from being a shorthand for large leap in character motives) mostly to age and beef Eren up, because it would’ve been harder to pull off this Messiah on the Hill moment if Eren were still a skinny fifteen-year-old?
“But as a result [of adapting to turbulent times] our prestige has been reduced to the point where we’re now derided as a pack of wretched, money-grubbing vixens.” Hey now, Lady Azumabito, what’s wrong with being a money-grubbing vixen
“Armin and I were there when the bomb went off; we almost got killed by the blast.” But whether Eren instigated the assassination or not (I suspect not) seriously I do not fuck with any version of Eren that would let Armin or Mikasa die what happened to the boy who was ready to have an all-out brawl with Levi on the chance Armin could get to live?????
Another mild bit of knowledge I recently had was that Eren would eventually look older and have long hair. In S3 Part II, I was incredibly convinced that that would come as a result of defection based on Armin’s death. And I’m not saying timeskips are always pointless, but they are often used to get around the fact the character you wrote just Wouldn’t Do That

I can’t believe this series has beaten me down so hard with its bare fists that I feel like 80% of the world dying is not the worst outcome. That is OBJECTIVELY AWFUL. I guess it helps that there’s no death/fighting scenes for last third of this episode. It’s just been so unbearable that if I’m not crying or actively nauseous, it’s some kind of victory. What a horrible show
Are we suggesting Eren has been reincarnated as a bird? Sure, fitting for a wings-of-freedom Scout metaphor moment, I suppose!
I’m not going to comment on the mid-credits scenes. This show has put me through enough. I have followed it through to its conclusion, and its conclusion was as brutal and absurd as the rest of it. Goodnight!

Gåsmamman Gustav and Linus part 2
With season 6 around the corner (yay) it's time for my second part of my Gustav and Linus relationship post.
I'll definitely do a final one when season 6 is finished though. But here goes nothing.
Season 4 is probably my favorite (along with season 3) but for Gustav and Linus' relationship it's not a good season at all.
6 months has passed and Sonja wakes up from her coma. She was shot by speedy and since then everything has been turned upside down.
We quickly learn that Linus is in foster care and Gustav is MIA from the hospital. We soon find out that he's going to be a police officer and in school.
He's pretty much not been in contact with his family since Sonja got shot which is yikes. Look man I know your resent Sonja but leaving your brother in foster care without even keeping contact? That's shitty. Now I know Gustav is super messed up but still.
It's not a great start for their relationship and you can immediately tell things are not what they once were and the brother's are more distant than ever.
It's so sad that not even his siblings know about Gustav's new life. It's like he's so determined to leave everything behind that he also abandons his siblings in a time where they all need each other.
Again I don't blame him for trying to find his feet again but did he have to cut all ties?
While it seems like Linus is doing fairly well with his foster family, little by little we learn about his struggles. His football coach is trying to groom him and at first he manages to say no.
But as Sonja comes back into his life more and more and the focus is on him getting back with jer you can tell everything is taking a toll on him. Eventually he can’t say no... it's so sad to see the coach manipulate him and making him feel special only because he's so vulnerable. I can gurantee this would not have happened had he had more of a relationship with Gustav.
Menawhile Gustav refuses to see Sonja which I still get to some extent. But I do get annoyed that he's literally acting as if he doesn't have a family and just spends his time with his new girlfriend and her family.
You can definitely tell there's a rift between the brother’s as they reunite. Gustav can tell something is wrong but Linus doesn't trust him the same way anymore. Gustav apologises for abandoning Linus and you can tell that he feels super guilty. Linus forgives him but the damage is already done and when he then overhears what Speedy did it's the nail in the coffin for Linus.
Oh that boy is in need of an adult in his life. His foster parents are great and they are actually pretty stable but his home environment is not and Sonja trying to get him back only makes it worse. The little bit of stability he had is suddenly gone with Sonja giving him hope and then fucking up.
But it's nice to see Gustav showing up for him at the meeting with child service. He clearly cares about Linus and tries to be there for him. Once again it's so sad to see Linus have no idea that Gustav is studying to become a cop? But he's so happy for him it warms my heart.
As Linus gets more and more involved with dealing and gets into more and more in trouble it gets even more obvious that there's a rift between them. I think that this started already in season three and stems from Gustav's resentment towards Sonja. Back in season 3 he moved out and when Juana died he didn't really recover which damaged his and Linus relationship.
Both him and Linus where let down by Sonja that season. Linus because Sonja was so neglectful towards him.
But the difference is that Linus immediately forgives Sonja and wants to move back home with her. He's clearly alot more attached to Sonja, just like he is with Tanja. Gustav on the other hand has a different kind of separation anxiety. He basically changes girlfriend every second.
Unenviably Gustav gets more and more dragged back into his old life, both because of Sonja and because of Linus.
And while he annoys me at time he still stays fairly loyal to his family. I think it's interesting though how that changes with every season and as his and Sonja's relationship gets more and more strained you can tell it takes longer and longer for him to fall back into his role.
But he still does it in season 4 and consequently he finds himself witnessing Linus shooting speedy. This is after Linus has watched Tanja kiss someone else and his foster parents have given up on him and the dinner with child service has gone to hell. He's faith in Sonja has also been left in tatters.
He's so vulnerable and I kinda hate how his foster parents handled the situation.
And then we have the aftermath which might me one of the nicest moments in the entire season maybe the entire series as Nina and Gustav goes to find Linus after he's fled on his moped.
I love their scenes at the motel. Linus is in shock and his older siblings come to his rescue. So well acted and beautiful.
I also love Gustav and Nina teaming up to get the gun while Linus gets scrubbed down my Lukas.
This is the sibling content I want and need. Pure gold.
And this is the Gustav I need. The one that's fiercely protective of Linus and takes care of him. I get so many season one and two feelings from the rest of their interactions.
I especially love of Gustav is just their in the aftermath of the shooting when Linus is obviously struggling to cope. With a show like Gåsmamman with many characters and an intense plot these little moments are so important and I love how we still get to see them.
From Gustav playing ticket to ride with Linus and Tanja to him lying next to Linus as he sleeps.
We also see him finally forgive Sonja. Maybe he senses what's about to happen...
Ugh and then we have the final scenes with Linus breaking down in Gustav's arms and Gustav rushing to his side. He's in full protective mode and all his focus is on Linus which we've seen so many times before.
At his very core Gustav will do anything for his family but I think especially for Linus and this is a little moment that showcases it so well.
He doesn't care about himself and his own heartbreak. He just holds his little brother.
Again a well acted scene that makes my heart hurt. Joel and Linus work so well together and their on screen chemistry is brilliant.

Season 4 wasn't great. I've LOVED every other season but for this one the characters were off, the jokes fell flat (if I hear one more fart joke I stg) and the huge time skip wasn't great either.
The whole season feels like they could have condensed it down to 2 episodes but they decided to add a million characters and plot lines that didn't matter.
Idk. It looks like they overworked the batter and the fluffy pancake we were promised is now flatter than a witch's tit.
I mean, still technically a pancake. So I'm not mad, just disappointed.
disclaimer: i LOVE the dragon prince, i loved seasons 1-3 and i enjoyed season 4. here's the deal, season 4 is a fun season and i enjoyed watching it. i do think, however, that the writing got a mediocre a little too often for it to be worth the 3-year wait. if you disagree with me, i am more than open to hear thoughts and counterarguments. seriously. i think discussion is healthy and it's something i actually really enjoy because i like talking. also, i'm way too tired to have people yelling at me/to yell at other people with a different opinion than me...i am a college student and i am already dying so please, be respectful. i am not trying to actively insult anyone who liked season 4 and i am also not vehemently hating on the show [criticisim != hate] i'm more than happy for the people who enjoyed the season and i really do like to hear thoughts. with that out of the way, hello anon, here's a wall of unorganized text that attempts to convey my feelings overall
since i am an actual child, i laughed at the jokes but that's beside the point. i get where people are coming from when they say they were poorly timed and/or didn't land well
but on the topic of jokes, season 4 had me laughing at a lot of things i....shouldn't have been laughing at. and honestly, it makes me feel like an asshole lol but i'm sorry some of the more emotional or intense scenes are just really goofy with the way they were executed and yes, if someone wants me to, i can go in depth with this, but for the purpose of this ask (especially since it wasn't focused on the humor in the first place) i won't give my thoughts here
i'm going to be very blunt: tdp has kind of backed itself into a corner if there isn't a twist or some sort of major consequence for rayla leaving. if rayla leaves for 2 years and nothing comes from it other than relationship drama, that's a bit yikes. i'm not saying that everything should have been resolved this season, but the show doesn't even try to tell the audience that something bigger may be happening. if there IS a bigger consequence, the show doesn't properly hint at it/set it up, and THATS where the issue is. when it gives us nearly nothing to speculate off of, we have no idea where her character or the story is going. <- this is not a catalyst for mystery, it's frustrating because everyone (especially rayla) feels out of character and for what
also, this is a nitpick, but callum letting rayla go after viren in episode 9 was not earned.
anyways, the season had to reintroduce us to the characters that we haven't seen for 3 years, and it has to inform everyone about the 2-year time skip. the time skip, in my opinion, was not done well. time skips are used to grow up the characters and introduce new characters, environments, and potential plot points for the rest of the story that is being told. the dragon prince does not do this very well. yes, there are new characters, but they aren't even necessarily relevant for the rest of the story, so it feels like wasted time. the candle woman and the n'than dude show up and then drop off of the face of the earth never to be seen again. terry is fine, but i do think it's a bit odd to give claudia, someone who has gone off the deep end, a really goofy and lighthearted boyfriend (he's just there to keep her morality in check a little bit, i.e. giving rayla the coins). i think overall, a lot of things happen in season 4, but it feels like a very small portion of said things actually set up for the future.
i've been avoiding bringing this up, mostly because i'm lazy and i don't want to find exact quotes from the show, but i'll bite. the writing for seasons 1-3 felt authentic and natural. the writing in season 4 felt so on-the-nose, shallow, and almost preachy.

^ ezran says this and yup, that's enough on that topic, no need to explore it further. i think the writing overall was just so lackluster and forced compared to previous seasons. again, i could elaborate on this but i've gone on for long enough in this post so if someone wants me to just ask...might take a really long time for me to respond though getting my thoughts in order takes forever.

So they like this movie,love Scar as a villain BUT dont think it as good as Little Mermaid,Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin

Siskel REALLY loves it ,Ebert just likes it.Also it is apparent Siskel likes serious Bond films,Ebert likes more fun Bond films
Hot takes:Siskel say it is a return to forum to the style of the Connery Bonds,which I think even if you like the film that is a stretch .They also say its non stop exciting,which I find odd cause I always consider it one of the more lowkey Bond films.Siskel also says it is as thrilling as Raiders of the Lost Ark which Is SUCH a hot take.Also Siskel liked the villains,which I know for a fact is a hot take,cause Bond fans call Kristartos one of the worsr ,especially Siskel saying Kristartos is better then Moores previous villains would have Bond fans tilting their head .

”Is it a married man? I promise I would never judge you. You can tell me.” You gasp in horror when she starts speculating, giving you that look again that you haven’t seen since college – when you had that crush on that jock from the swim team senior year. They were wet and hot in your defence – every woman’s weakness. Everyone who tells otherwise is a liar.
Her hand finds yours on top of the table to console you but you pull away with a disapproving look.
”Oh my god. That’s not it!” You pick up some fries to shove into her mouth before she could speak more nonsense.
It’s annoying how she tries to nitpick everything you say just because you said it’s complicated it doesn’t mean it has to involve a married man or a sugar daddy! It could be worse than listening to her trying to figure out your mystery crush.
At least she has no idea it’s his brother that you have secret feelings for. You shudder just by thinking of this morning with his dick wedged in between your buttcheeks.
It’s futile to think about the what-ifs. Nothing would have changed if you decided to stay or not a little longer. You just saved yourself from some awkward conversation where you would be friend-zoned or worse – sister zoned! You’re way past the point of feeling guilty about thinking about Jin whilst you’re with your best friend. You’re not concerned as you get lost in your head.
You never really breached the topic with her – but you know she wouldn’t be thrilled for you to have the hots for his brother. It’s stupid but her reaction when one of your friends brought up you dating him in the future is still a sore spot. Them. Together? Yikes. Childish, you know it but it still affects you more than you would like to admit. Not that Seokjin would ever return your feelings.
”Are you excited about our trip?” Glad for the change in the subject you let out a relieved chuckle. Genuine excitement showing on your face.
Of course, you are excited!
It’s been ages since you went to Jeju (except for that one family vacation) and this time it will be just you the girls and the boys – no parental supervision. You yourselves are grownups. Just friends on a summer trip. Everyone has been busy and working hard so some time to unwind will do some good for all of you. It’s also nostalgic as the first roots of your affection towards Jin bloomed on the Island as well. You’re excited to go back now that you’re all matured.
The problems you had back then seem to be minor things compared to what adult life rolls your way as a challenge.
You share some excited chatter about the resort she got her hands on. You heard it’s quite spectacular and has a beautiful view of the ocean. You collect your trays when you’re done and head to the mall to buy some bikinis for the trip.
Time always flies by when you’re together and you step into your shared apartment with Jin in the late afternoon with a heart less heavy.
It’s still one of the favourite parts of your day. When you can smell the freshly made food and be greeted by Jin’s smile as he asks you to join him in the kitchen. You move in sync preparing the dishes seamlessly as you know what the other wants. You cooked together so many times but your heart still flutters when he prefers your help in the kitchen even at gatherings.
”You left early this morning.” The knife in your hand halts for a moment but you regain your composure rather quickly. You keep cutting the vegetables in relative silence as you try to come up with what to say and pour the cut pieces into a frying pan to stirfry, acting busy. You didn’t think he would comment about your sudden disappearance. Did he miss you? Was he disappointed when he didn’t find you in his arms anymore? Or. Is he testing the waters? He probably woke up with a boner and was wondering if he made you uncomfortable but doesn’t want to create an awkward situation by asking you outright? Right? That’s probably it-
”I was just getting ready for the trip tomorrow. Jiah and I went shopping. We didn’t have anything to wear to the beach.”
Seokjin acknowledges your words with a small hum as he’s focused on marinating the beef sprinkling it with various spices.
”Can’t wait to see you in it.” His smile is innocent and his intentions are probably as pure as snow so why are you blushing so hard? You and Jin saw each other in swimwear – went to the beach before with mutual friends – before but your approach the previous years was more cute than sexy. You don’t know what possessed you to go all out this year but Jiah whistled when you come out of the changing room. She said whoever your secret crush is he’ll probably go blind from your beauty so you’re counting on that.

A Family-Filled Fun Day
Yesterday felt like it was the perfect way to spend a day with our kids before we leave to go out of town.
In case you don’t follow us on Instagram, we mentioned earlier this week that we’re leaving to go out of the country today actually (!), and it will be the longest we’ve ever been away from the kids. And we’re nervous. We’ve never been away from them for more than three of four days, so the thought of being gone eight or nine days feels strange.
We keep asking them if they will be okay or if they think they will miss us too badly and be sad or scared, but (luckily) they just keep saying they can’t wait for us to leave so they can do things like stay up a little later and chew gum, haha. They will be staying with our moms as they take turns watching them for the next week and a half, and they are a little less strict than we are, which I’m happy about. Everyone needs a break every now and then.
So I think we’re the ones who will have a hard time being away from them for so long, which I am also happy about. I would much rather us be the ones crying over them than the other way around.
Yesterday was spent with fun and exciting times with each of the kids in a totally unplanned way. We started with Allan.
His entire 2nd grade class took a field trip to our farm!! That’s right, we had 40 or so eight year olds running around Ocoee Farm and it was the biggest burst of joy for a few hours. They all took turns petting the chickens and holding goslings (they found a way to keep pooping on me over and over again). They fed the sheep and pigs carrots and celery and laughed/screamed when the donkeys sneezed on them.
Allan had a blast showing the kids around the farm, his playground when he gets home from school every day. I know how much joy he must have felt to have all of his friends and teachers in his happy place, a place he’s been to a million times but that they’re seeing with fresh, curious eyes. To him, it’s his backyard. To them, it was the reason for an entire field trip.
There was time for a Q&A and PJ answered about 100 questions on the pavilion about our animals and the farm. It was so cute to hear their little questions about everything and nothing. I love the way kids’ minds work. So curious. And PJ did so well!! He used to be a camp counselor and is used to speaking to and educating groups of kids, so he was a natural. All his old training came back to him, or seemingly never left? Either way, he was fabulous.
Beau was there to help out, too, and even grabbed some photos of the morning. Thank you so much, Beau!!!
After that, we got a message from Anna’s teacher saying they would be getting out of school early because their A/C is broken and it was 80 degrees in their classroom. Yikes. So we headed to the school to get her. We spent an hour with our girl, just the three of us, as we listened to her tell us about her day and watched her eat her new favorite snack: a giant heated-up-in-the-microwave marshmallow. The girl has an affinity for sweets.
After about an hour and a half, it was time to head back to school for Riah’s kindergarten program. It’s crazy to me that he will be in FIRST grade next year. What? How? When did this happen and where was I? Our youngest son can’t be in first grade already. Time hasn’t made sense for the last few years, but the fact that he will be a first grader in just a few months is something my brain can’t comprehend.
We sat in the first row as he and his classmates performed quite a few songs in front of a crowded auditorium of proud parents and supportive family members. It was the cutest. Riah had the biggest smile on his face the whole time, in between looking a little reserved and nervous. He did so well, though. There was also a slideshow of the whole year with the background music being “Never Grow Up” by Taylor Swift, which was a perfect choice by his teacher, if I do say so myself.
Then it was time for certificates. The principal called each of the kindergartners’ names and they took turns walking across the stage, collecting their certificate in the process. Before kids, I had always thought of kindergarten graduations as pointless and silly. Now though, I thought it was the sweetest thing ever, and I know we were both so proud of him for such a wonderful year. He has had the best teacher and we wish she was still going to be in the same position next year so that Anna could have her!
After his program, we checked him and Allan out of school for the rest of the day to spend it together at home before we all headed out to eat and go to Walmart for last minute things before our trip.
Now we are at the airpot waiting for our flight, and I am writing this from one of the seats in the terminal. It’s only been a few hours but we’re already missing them so badly. Walking through the airport and seeing all the little kids running around with their little suitcases is only reminding us of traveling with our kids, and how much we love it. They do so well in airports and on planes and it really is so fun to travel and take them places and show them somewhere new. Hoping for a lot of that this summer!!
Next time we check in will be from Barcelona, so here’s to a safe flight!!!
