I don't think a lot of people realize that lot of their advice to disabled people often boils down to "Get over it." they are trying to be helpful but their idea of helpful is "Just do the thing" because that's what they do. for them they just do things. It comes naturally to just do it.
They don't know how to bridge the gap between you and the task. For them the bridge is already pre-built and stable. For disabled people the bridge is run down, not well kept, it feels unsteady and is hard to get across without being slow and cautious - hell for some people there is no bridge and we need to build it ourselves but we don't have the bridge building tools and no one gives them to us.
"Just cross the bridge." They say before walking over their pre-built bridge. They never gave you the tools to build a bridge to cross.

Let’s say for whatever reason Bella doesn’t heed Edwards warnings about Jasper, for whatever reason, be it out of spite, curiosity or her misreading Jaspers distance in a different way. Maybe he’s just shy, yes that must be it. The more Edward insists otherwise the more curious/ determine she becomes. What happens then? Assuming Jasper doesn’t ignore her attempts at friendship or straight up eats her.
Anon, why do I have the strangest feeling that what you really want out of this is a Jasper/Bella fic?
As usual, my advice is to go and write the Jasper/Bella fic. You'll feel a lot happier than whatever I'm going to give you, I'm sure.
(I also like that Jasper's not allowed to eat her or ignore her even though these are by far the most likely outcomes.)
Edward Gives Jasper the Talk
Edward doesn't know the universe forbids Jasper from either ignoring Bella or eating her. I his eyes, there's a good chance his girlfriend's about to become Jasper's lunch.
Moreover, Jasper is the last person Edward wants Bella talking to. Jasper's lived the full vampire experience, of not only eating people, but turning and murdering fellow vampires for decades and fighting over territory. Edward is not at all at ease with Jasper's backstory and doesn't want Bella talking to him and potentially realizing just how dangerous and monstrous vampires really are. Not to mention that Edward just doesn't like Jasper or trust him.
Edward tells Jasper to back the fuck off.
No, Edward doesn't care if Bella would find it weird/keeps bothering Jasper no matter how much distance Jasper tries to put between them. Jasper can go take a vacation somewhere for a few months/years/however long this thing goes on.
Jasper, of course, then realizes that Edward intends to dump Bella Swan at some mysterious point. Could be a few weeks from now, could be at the end of high school. But it's very clear that Bella Swan's not getting turned and that Edward doesn't expect this to last more than a few years.
Jasper brings up why Edward isn't dumping Bella now and making it clear, up front, that they don't have a future together (would certainly save Jasper a lot of trouble).
Edward throws a hissy fit that doesn't make much sense but boils down to making the most of the time he and Bella do have together and that Edward... isn't emotionally strong enough to live without her yet. BUT HE WILL BE. SOON.
Jasper...
Does not see this going well.
Especially as Alice is convinced that, sooner or later, Bella will be a vampire which means that... Edward's plan isn't going to work.
Jasper Keeper of Secrets and Possible Homewrecker
Well, Bella's still convinced Jasper is her super cool friend (he's not, she just won't leave.) Unfortunately, Jasper now knows something Bella doesn't: Edward plans to dump her any minute now.
And Bella keeps talking about trying to get to know the family better (which is why she claims she's around him all the time), and wanting to really understand this family and be a part of it. Bella, very clearly, thinks Edward's not going to dump her or else will turn her into a vampire.
Any minute now.
More, Jasper realizes that the more time Bella's spending with him is less time she's spending with Edward. And she... Doesn't seem to realize that this is a problem and perhaps a very large red flag in her relationship with Edward.
You shouldn't be dumping your boyfriend to hang out with your boyfriend's scary brother.
Especially when said boyfriend is now very much noticing and getting very very angry and accusatory.
Jasper cracks like an egg.
He tells Bella that a) Edward has no long term plans for their relationship and has no intention of ever turning her into a vampire and will probably dump her come graduation b) if she's serious about dating Edward then she needs to actually spend time with Edward.
Bella is Shocked, Simply Shocked!
Bella somehow did not see this coming.
She loves Edward! How could Edward not know that? And he keeps saying he can't live without her but now Jasper is telling her that he can and that he plans to? Is Bella just some... temporary distraction?
Jasper realizes in horror that he's caused the breakup to happen as Bella sobs next to him (entirely too close and delicious smelling) saying that she should just get it over with so Edward can move on to Tanya and she always knew it was too good to be true!
Edward was just being nice to her!
This whole time!
Before Jasper can stop it, Bella dumps Edward with the "it's not you, it's me" speech and prepares to enter the rest of her life of miserable spinsterhood.
And all hell breaks loose.
You Better Fix This, Jasper!
Alice tells Jasper he better fix his own goddamn mess because he's just lost her her sister and best friend and Edward's wife all because he couldn't keep his stupid mouth closed.
Jasper feels genuinely horrible but legitimately doesn't understand. He was only being honest and telling Bella what Edward intended to do but hadn't had the courage to tell her yet. Surely, for a good relationship, they should be honest with each other.
Alice tells him that this is great, and all, except Edward wasn't being honest with himself either. He wants to dump Bella, but he can't, and he never will really be able to, so all Jasper did was cause a lot of drama about nothing and FIX THIS HUBBY! FIX THIS NOW!
Edward, of course, is livid about all of this and does not take it well when Jasper points out, again, that he was just telling Bella what Edward had told him and clearing the air. Why is this a problem?
Edward accuses Jasper of wanting Bella for himself. HE KNOWS SHE SMELLS DELICIOUS.
(Jasper can't even. He can't.)
Jasper, not sure what's even happening, goes to fix his mess and convince Bella that Edward was never actually going to dump her and the pair are hopelessly in love.
He Can't Do It
In the course of this, Jasper learns that Bella wasn't in love with Edward. She thinks she is, of course, but she doesn't even know Edward's favorite color. Turns out, she knows jack shit about Edward, and seems to have a minimal grasp on his personality.
Every part she lists off that she likes is essentially "vampire" and "pays attention to me"
Oh good god, Jasper thinks to himself.
He can't get these two back together.
Because Edward thinks Bella is genuinely in love with him. It would break him, if he finds out that Edward could pretty much be replaced with any single vampire who pays her any mind. It would be... so bad.
And if they turn her? What if she gets turned, she and Edward get married, and Alice gets her best friend and then all of them find out that Bella has no idea who any of these people even are? What if they all find out then after it's much too late?
It would be a disaster.
Jasper cannot get these two back together.
It Gets Worse
Jasper has to break the news to the family but...
He's learned that honesty is not the best policy. And he thinks Bella's young and stupid, and apparently very into the vampire aesthetic, but she's not necessarily a bad person.
It's not her fault she has a crush on Edward and doesn't realize it's only a crush.
So he... lies.
He tells the family that he agrees with Edward. That this is the best ending for Bella. She has a... bit of a messy break up now, but it's of her own accord, she'll have a human future, and she'll move on.
Edward does not take this well.
Especially as, deep down, he knows that Jasper's repeating his own arguments back to him. Turns out, it's very different when someone else says them as opposed to Edward saying them.
Edward throws a fit and accuses Jasper of just wanting to see him miserable and unhappy because he's jealous of Edward's control.
(Jasper still can't even)
He knows that Jasper's hiding something about this.
(Jasper's not about to admit that it's that Bella doesn't love him and is desperately blocking out that information.)
Edward becomes determined to win Bella back so that... he can dump her... later... on his own terms...
And sometime during this Jasper realizes, to his horror, that Edward doesn't love Bella either. He, in fact, is doing the same damn thing as Bella herself and seems to know next to nothing about her and just... likes how she smells. A lot.
Holy Jesus, Jasper thinks, what a mess.
It Gets Even Worse
In all this time, Jasper finds himself running between Bella and Edward, and feeling very guilty hangs out with Bella during the breakup. This unwittingly casts him into the role of Jacob Black, where he becomes Bella's source of validation.
Bella develops a crush on Jasper.
Now Alice is very upset with Jasper, accusing him of doing this on purpose, and ruining the entire family. She's so upset, in fact, that she claims there's no way out AND HE MIGHT AS WELL JUST DATE BELLA IF HE LIKES HER SO MUCH.
(He doesn't, he barely knows Bella, she seems nice and all, but this is all very fast and what is even happening?)
Edward comes to see Jasper as his most hated and sneaky rival and I imagine challenges him to a duel. Jasper, hoping to get this over with, wins very quickly.
He shouldn't have done that.
The Cullens as a unit implode. There's much nonsense and drama. And at the end of the day, I imagine Bella's turned anyway, perhaps because of the James fiasco, and Jasper finds himself suddenly married to Bella because everyone's decided he's married to Bella.
He has no idea what's even happening.

Craving that good ol angst so maybe like a senpai x reader where the two get into a fight perhaps?
You were just flipping through the TV channels, like you usually did when you were home alone.
Then, all of the sudden, the front door slammed open before quickly slamming shut, which made you nearly drop the remote. “Jesus what was--?!”
“S-Sorry.”
Glancing over, you saw Senpai walk into the living room space, looking annoyed and angry as he threw his bag onto the chair. You watched as he glared down at his microphone--like it was the most disgusting thing he ever laid eyes on.
But before he could throw that, too, you got up and intervened, gently taking his wrist. “Hey, hey...what’s with the hissy fit? How did your match with Skid and Pump go?”
“Take a wild guess. My mic fucking busted, embarrassing me not only in front of them...BUT IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE GODDAMN NEIGHBORHOOD AND LEMON DEMON!!” He shouted, eyes flashing red with rage. “Stupid brats!! I KNOW they were just smiling behind their stupid masks..mocking me.."
You couldn’t believe how pissed-off he was acting. If it was Keith, you could somewhat understand.
But Skid and Pump? Two innocent kids who just wanted to have a fun battle with your boyfriend? You didn’t appreciate that one bit.
Then again, no matter who he met--he always got irrationally angry whenever he lost a singing competition. But this time he’s gone too far.
“How ironic, ‘cause you’re acting like a brat now.”
“...what did you say?” He scowled at you.
“You heard me.” You huffed. “They’re just kids, Senpai. They’re not gonna take singing that seriously. Did you really try to blame them for your microphone breaking when maybe....you did something to it yourself?”
“I wouldn’t have thought to check...no thanks to you.”
“Excuse me? It shouldn’t be my responsibility. You put yourself into the singing business, not me.”
“But-!”
“Have you always been like this?” You finally questioned, just being spiteful at this point. “Blaming other people for your problems? Have you ever considered taking responsibility for yourself for once instead of whining? Or did the time you spent in that video game make you forget the word “responsibility” altogether?”
The mention of the game is what made Senpai snap right back.
"Don't you EVER BRING UP THAT GAME AGAIN!!" He slammed down the microphone, completely engulfed in red flames as he pointed at you. “You know I try to win these battles FOR YOU. It’s bad enough I lose to Keith..AND NOW IT’S TWO STUPID KIDS IN COSTUMES!!! LET ME BE ANNOYED WITH MYSELF FOR ONCE, ALRIGHT?!!”
“The problem is you’re ALWAYS annoyed with it!! If you can’t handle two kids wanting a friendly contest then..you have serious issues. Just grow up, for fuck’s sake. No one’s out to get you except yourself.”
“......” This time around he had no comeback, but he was still seething with rage.
You, on the other hand, believed you had said enough, so you went to grab your shoes and phone.
“I’m..gonna take a walk, maybe apologize to two certain kids who looked up to you as a brother and a singer.”
He remained silent as he watched you leave, shutting the door behind you.
But the moment everything became clear to him, and he realized what he said, he slumped back onto the couch. He held his head in his hands, wanting to scream and cry his eyes out.
Though he shakily reached for his phone instead, looking through his contacts and finding a number he was reluctant to call.
But he needed to..if he ever hoped to reconcile with you.
“Beep bop--huh? S-Senpai?”
“Keith, let’s just...let bygones be bygones for now. I-I..I really need some advice.."
.............
“So you and Mr. Anime Guy just..walk around the park?”
“Yeah. It’s nice to take in the scenery, especially when the sun sets.”
“..meh, not spooky enough.”
“I know, I know.” You chuckled as you, Skid, and Pump took a walk around the local park. After apologizing to them for Senpai’s behavior, you treated them to some ice cream, which instantly lifted their spirits.
Fortunately they didn’t take his words to heart. They were just kids, after all, who didn’t care that they were wearing costumes during the springtime. The outfits seemingly gave them thick skin.
Before long they went on their way home, exclaiming they were going to rap battle Pico since he was back in town. And you waved goodbye to the pair and tossed out your ice cream after finishing it.
You sighed as you continued your walk, though as you approached the benches, you saw a certain strawberry-blond male sitting there by himself.
But you were surprised to see him dressed neater with a small teddy bear plushie in his lap.
How interesting..considering this was exactly where you first met Senpai.
Back then, he had just entered the real world--scared and confused with nowhere to go. But you took him in and learned about where he came from, what really happened to him..and from there a loving relationship blossomed.
He heard you approach and sat up, giving you a shaky smile as he stood. “[Y/n]..I-I... know I said things I shouldn’t have, and...I admit I’m immature and..there's no excuse for that. You were right..the only person I’m embarrassing is myself."
Tearing up, he bowed his head, bangs hiding his eyes as he offered the bear to you. “I know this won’t immediately fix things but...I-I don’t ever wanna hurt you like I did back at home again. I’m so sorry. I’m..gonna do my best to change. E-Even if you stop loving me, I-I’ll change for you.”
After a few moments of silence, you smiled and took the bear from his grasp, though you pulled him into a hug as well. You could feel him shaking, even sobbing a little, as he hugged you tightly.
You knew he was genuinely sorry.
“Sen..I forgive you.” You kissed his damp cheek. “I’ll always love you..even if we have some spats every now and then. Sometimes couples do and..it's okay. I'm sorry for the things I've said, too."
“I know true love i-is..really just a farce in reality but..you’ve shown me what it could be like.” He pulled away to look at you, his eyes softer and brighter than before. “I don’t wanna lose that.”
“You won’t.”
“I promise I’ll lose the ego and be less harsh on others. Today we start anew.”
And you both sealed that affirmation with a tender kiss.
Senpai knew he had to thank Keith later, but for now he wanted to make the rest of this day all about you.

Dear Mr. Filoni: About Qui-Gon Jinn
Mr. Filoni, I know you are pretty much the undisputed Padawan of George Lucas, but like many students they can sometimes misunderstand their teachings or interpret things from a certain point of view. While I won’t deny you are a brilliant creator who have brought us some amazing Star Wars content you said something a little while back about Qui-Gon Jinn that I think is rather nearsighted and in my opinion incorrect.
“And with the death of Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin loses the father figure who truly could have understood him – and maybe prevented what was to come.”
This implies several things, the first is that Anakin never had a father figure in his life. Or, rather that he lost the father figure he truly needed. In many ways this is implying that if someone grows up without a father (or a traditional father figure) then they are missing out or won’t have a stable childhood. What about all the people who are raised by single mothers or grandparents or aunts/uncles or by their older siblings?
Pixar’s Onward is a great example of finding a father figure through an older brother, it highlights that just because Ian never had a chance to meet his father didn’t mean that he lost out on a father figure in his brother Barley.
“I never had a dad, but I always had you.”
Tumblr media
Saying that Anakin lost the father figure who truly could have understood him also just spits in the face of a young man who also lost his father figure in that moment and gave up everything to raise Anakin.
Let’s unpack that a little bit. Imagine if you will you’re twenty-five years old, you’ve worked your ENTIRE life for a particular goal which is to be a Jedi Knight, traveling the galaxy doing the most good that you can while discovering who you are on your own. Then maybe down the road when you are ready to settle down and possibly train/raise an apprentice you’ll take one on. Suddenly the only father you’ve ever known pushes you aside for a child he’s just met (without even discussing it with you first) and then uses his last words to push this child on you, making him your responsibility, thus shattering your chance at the freedom of a true Knighthood.
Tumblr media
By all rights Obi-Wan could’ve given Anakin’s training over to the Council, the boy was in no way his responsibility. Much like an adult sibling doesn’t have to take on the responsibility of raising their minor siblings if their parents die, they could give the children over to the state and have a chance at a normal young adulthood instead of being thrust into being a parent before they are ready. But, Obi-Wan didn’t do that because he A.) Respected/loved Qui-Gon too much not to fulfill his final wishes, and B.) Knew it would be better for Anakin to take the boy under his wing.
I will say this until I am blue in the face: OBI-WAN WAS A FATHER TO ANAKIN!!
In fact, in Episode 2 Anakin refers to him as a father/father figure multiple times and it is clear their relationship while Anakin was a Padawan was that of a Father/Son. It isn’t until Anakin is knighted and they are peers that you see their relationship shift to that of brothers.
Tumblr media
Am I saying that Obi-Wan didn’t make mistakes when raising Anakin? Absolutely not, but would I argue that Anakin was missing out on a father figure because Qui-Gon died? No, I would not.
The second part of that quote claims that Qui-Gon Jinn could’ve been someone who understood Anakin and might’ve been able to prevent what was to come. I 100% believe that would not have happened, while I think Qui-Gon Jinn is a very interesting character there is no indication in either canon or legends that he would’ve been a good influence on Anakin. In fact, quite the opposite. Here are the top ten reasons Qui-Gon would’ve been a terrible father influence for Anakin:
1. Qui-Gon Jinn thinks the rules don’t apply to him: While many fans applaud Qui-Gon (including apparently you, Mr. Filoni) for going against the Jedi Council and being a “Maverick” I would argue that more often than not it was to his or his mission’s detriment. This is not to advocate that the Council was 100% correct or that Jedi shouldn’t question things, but there is a difference between questioning authority figures and flat out being obstinate. This is something Anakin excels at even with being raised by the rule abiding Kenobi, imagine how bad it would’ve been had Jinn raised him.
Tumblr media
2. Qui-Gon Jinn was selfish: There are several examples of Qui-Gon using the guise of “the will of the Force” in order to get his way. Are we honestly supposed to believe that somehow this one man was more in tune with the Force than any other Jedi (including 12 powerful Jedi who were on the Council)?? And, if he truly believed in following the will of the Force then why did he constantly bend the rules to make sure the “Force” went his way - an example of this is had he actually believed it was the will of the Force that he free Anakin, he wouldn’t have had to make the chance cube go the way he wanted it to go. He flat out cheated so he could get his way.
3. Qui-Gon was dangerously reckless: Many Jedi are reckless, even Obi-Wan said to Yoda in ESB “so was I if you’ll remember”. But Qui-Gon was reckless in ways that was pretty astounding. For example, EVERYONE told him that his plan to get off of Tatooine was dangerous and frankly stupid. Couldn’t they have just sold the Naboo ship and then purchased a clunker that would get them to Coruscant? Honestly, that would’ve probably hidden them better from the Trade Federation in the long run...but no, he instead decided the best course of action was to put a slave child in mortal danger, thus also placing all of their lives in the hands of a boy who had NEVER won a race before. Now, it ended up working in his favor, but even still those few days spent fixing up Anakin’s pod and then the race itself delayed the Queen from getting to Coruscant which meant more people died on Naboo all because Qui-Gon refused to see any other solutions.
Tumblr media
4. Qui-Gon was often a bully: our Maverick had no problems throwing his weight around to get what he wanted. The Council meeting with Anakin is a perfect example, he didn’t get the answer he wanted. So he put his hands on his hips and refused to leave the room until the Council caved to his demands. Another example of this is in Claudia Grey’s Master & Apprentice where he refuses to do his duty as a Jedi and fulfill the mission simply because he had a vision. He doesn’t discuss this with the Council or with Obi-Wan beforehand, he just decides for himself this is how it’s going to be and then throws a hissy-fit when he doesn't get his way. Or how about he is the one who cheated to get his way in winning Anakin and when Watto calls him out he threatens to get the Hutts involved? He just bullies his way to getting what he wanted.
Tumblr media
  5. Qui-Gon never saw the bigger picture: Master Jinn’s whole thing is to focus on the here and the now, and while that’s great advice (especially for Obi-Wan who often looks too far a head) it also means that Qui-Gon often misses the big picture. An example of this is in the book Master & Apprentice where he wants to free the slaves on Pijal’s moon, but Yoda has to remind him that there is a bigger picture and they can only act if it’s in their mandate. He says this not because the Council doesn’t want to free slaves, but because there are incredibly complex consequences and if they were to just do whatever they wanted/could do as Jedi it would cause all kinds of issues for others and while he could maybe free a handful of slaves now it would cause countless others to suffer in the long run. But, Qui-Gon wouldn’t accept this, because he refused to see the bigger picture - he refused to look at anything except what was right in front of him.
6. Qui-Gon has a history of failing his Apprentices: Now, I know this isn’t Canon at the moment, but by the time we make it to TPM Qui-Gon has already done severe damage to 2 former Padawans, and is in danger of having history repeat itself. Xanatos was his second Apprentice right before Obi-Wan, and this Padawan was extremely powerful and Qui-Gon insisted he be trained, but the boy fell to the darkside because he had been too old to start training and had a healthy attachment to his family (sound familiar?). Qui-Gon was so devastated by his fall that he went back and reputed his first apprentice, Feemor, claiming he was such a failure of a Master that there is no way his first apprentice should’ve been knighted. He basically in his grief pushed aside an apprentice who while on paper wasn’t anything special, but was kind and dutiful and a true Jedi (sound familiar?). He then begrudgingly takes on Obi-Wan (only after 12 year old Obi-Wan offers to kill himself to save others) and then time and time again tries to basically pawn off Obi-Wan onto someone else (even as far into their relationship as the Master & Apprentice book). Then, when it finally looks like the Kenobi/Jinn team have figured out how to work well together Qui-Gon has to literally be reminded that his Obi-Wan even exists because Qui-Gon is so blinded by Anakin’s power!! How in any way does this seem like a better father figure option for the emotionally needy Anakin?
7. Qui-Gon Jinn has a history of Attachments: The specific example I have is again from Legends, but it shows how Qui-Gon allowed attachments to become dangerous. He had a childhood friend who he fell in love with, they decided that they could handle being committed to each other as well as the Order so they “pledged themselves” to one another (my guess is basically this is like a Jedi marriage so to speak). Sounds beautiful right, and it is, but...But his love interest Tahl was injured on a war torn planet where the children are so sick of their parents' civil war that they form a third army and go to war against the adults. Tahl is caught in the middle of this and is gravely injured. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are sent to rescue her, and Obi-Wan is sickened by the sight of children fighting and wants to stay and help, but Qui-Gon is so blinded by his attachment for Tahl that he for the first time EVER actually follows his mandate and tells Obi-Wan that they weren’t sent there to help the children, but to rescue Tahl. Obi-Wan who is only 13 doesn’t understand so instead of taking the time to really explain it, Qui-Gon just LEAVES his young apprentice behind on a war torn planet. Now, I’ll admit that Qui-Gon did give Obi-Wan a choice, to come back to Coruscant or to stay and fight, thus leaving the Jedi Order and Obi-Wan did make the choice to stay. But, it was Qui-Gon’s responsibility as the teacher to fully explain the situation to Obi-Wan and let him know that they could do more good if they were to go back to the Council and the Senate and try to return with supplies and reinforcements. But no, Qui-Gon just yelled at him, disregarded his feelings and told him their mission was to rescue Tahl. He didn’t bother using this as a teaching moment for Obi-Wan because he was so concerned about his attachment. And then later when Tahl actually died, Qui-Gon nearly fell to the dark side and it was Obi-Wan who saved him.  And then Qui-Gon went on to decide that because of the pain that had been inflicted by losing Tahl he’d basically give Obi-Wan an ultimatum when it came to the woman he loved (and basically downplayed it as nothing but a crush). Now, say what you want about how Obi-Wan handled Anakin/Padme’s relationship - maybe pretending it wasn’t happening instead of confronting Anakin about it wasn’t a healthy/smart choice, but at least he didn’t downplay it and make it look like Anakin’s feelings weren’t real or valid.
8. Qui-Gon refused to apologize: There are several examples where Qui-Gon refuses to accept any responsibilities and won’t apologize. One such point is in TPM where he basically traded his current Padawan in for a newer/shinier model in front of the entire Council (which if this alone isn’t enough cause to prove the man wasn’t the best father figure…) he then refused to even approach Obi-Wan about it, in fact the twenty five year old Apprentice who had just been tossed aside for a supposed prophecy came and apologized to Qui-Gon!! Another example is back in the Jedi Apprentice books where Qui-Gon leaves Obi-Wan on the war torn planet (as mentioned in #7) it is up to Obi-Wan to make it up to Qui-Gon and prove his worth once again. I’m not certain given Anakin’s tendency to need constant affirmations that this would’ve been a good combination.
Tumblr media
9. Qui-Gon was manipulative: Oftentimes we see Qui-Gon manipulating people to get his way (I’m not talking about Jedi Mind Tricks). In TPM he manipulates Watto to win Anakin’s freedom, he even manipulates Obi-Wan into taking on the burden of training Anakin by making it his dying wish. He is not above manipulation if he gets his desired result. We see Anakin does the same thing, so one could argue Qui-Gon would’ve only encouraged this behavior.
Tumblr media
10. Qui-Gon cared more about the prophecy than the boy: I’m not saying that Qui-Gon didn’t care about people, or even Anakin, in fact he was a very compassionate character. But, all of his arguments to have Anakin be trained was that he is “the Chosen One” not once does he talk about how the boy needs training simply because it’d be dangerous to leave such raw power alone in the galaxy without training, or that it would be the right thing to do. He doesn’t ever talk about how learning to be a Jedi would actually benefit the boy. Every single time he brings up Anakin needing training is because of the prophecy. Now, as far as it looks in both canon and legends Obi-Wan tried incredibly hard to not bring up the prophecy to Anakin (except on Mustafar), Obi-Wan would bring it up to Mace/Yoda but that was about it. Obi-Wan wasn’t blinded by the prophecy because until ROTS it didn’t really appear that he even believed in it - he believed in Anakin for who he was as a person. Something we just didn’t see with Qui-Gon.
Tumblr media
Now, Qui-Gon has a lot of great qualities, I am not denying that, but to say that he would’ve been the father figure Anakin needed is just misguided. If you believe in the idea that there is a will of the Force one could argue that Obi-Wan training Anakin was that will, otherwise Qui-Gon wouldn’t have died.
Also, Mr. Filoni, why is it that Anakin supposedly suffered because he didn’t have a father figure yet you turned around and gave Ahsoka a brother, not a father? Are you suggesting Ahsoka suffered as well because she didn’t have a father figure? Or, was Obi-Wan by this time finally “old” enough to be considered a father figure?
Tumblr media
This idea that Qui-Gon Jinn would’ve been the fix it to Anakin’s issues is just silly and once again places the blame of the Jedi’s destruction in the hands of the Council and specifically Obi-Wan, thus not forcing Anakin to be held responsible for any of his actions.
I’m sorry, but it’s not a theory I buy due to a lack of evidence.

Cornholio4 here again asking for advice, but if you think there is any list of possible scenarios where adrien can be called out since marinette gets it done so much in the show? I will credit you if I use them
Well...canon already gives us so many instances where he could be called out, it’s just that he never is, regardless how lousy some of his actions have been. But your phrasing makes it sound like you’re asking for other options.
I’d say hit him for the passivity. Something much like in Despair Bear where a problem COULD be solved if Adrien would just speak up, but he won’t so it isn’t. Maybe have it be involving a classmate suffering some unfair punishment for something they didn’t do which Adrien could easily prove them innocent of if he would just…y’know…DO something. But he doesn’t. I’d say have it be Marinette, but seriously, she’s been through enough so why not someone else here? Or even Alya? Regardless of whoever is taking the fall, they KNOW that Adrien could have resolved the matter, and for once, he isn't given a pass for wanting to stay out of it. “I thought we were friends. Friends are supposed to stand up for and support each other. So where were you?”
Adrien keeps getting dragged into things he doesn’t want to do with someone he doesn’t care for (Lila) which keeps him from the things he does want to do with people he does care about (Nino, Alya, Marinette). Adrien gets a wake up call about needing to be assertive in his Adrien life.Better yet, have someone not taken with “Perfect Model Boy Adrien”. All you really have to do is just throw in one person—just ONE person who doesn’t like Adrien and the plot practically writes itself. Not out of jealousy. Not because of an ego. They just think Adrien is a self righteous jerk who sees fit to judge other people for how they respond to things he doesn’t have to experience himself.
I made a previous post regarding the issue with Lila specifically in regards to Nino and I think you could really make use of that in terms of calling Adrien out. The fact is that Adrien KNOWS Lila is lying and has done nothing to so much as give Nino a heads up that she may not deliver on her promises to him. That’s going to break Nino’s heart—not just that he was lied to and played, but that Adrien let him be. Nino calls Adrien out because that is not what a friend does. He then gives Adrien the same silent treatment Adrien afforded him.
Adrien throws yet another hissy fit about not being in the loop about the Miraculous, this time in regards to the identities of Rena and Carapace. He complains about feeling he’s not trusted. Master Fu can be the one to call him out.
Have him accuse Ladybug of being jealous again the way he did with her in Volpina and have her just go off on him about how that was not supportive or being a good partner when he ignored her warnings and immediately trusted a stranger over her—especially in suspicious circumstances like her getting rid of a meteor there had been no evidence of even existing not even an hour before Volpina’s “grand appearance”.
We could also get an instance of seeing some of the more Chat-like behaviors in his Adrien self. Like having him start something with Nathaniel over the comic because it’s implying Ladybug having interest in Illustrator over Chat Noir. Adrien can be petty but it’s always hand waved as being okay when it’s him.
And if anything, please PLEASE have someone call him out for his “high road” position of NOT doing anything about clearly harmful actions. He didn’t do anything about Lila playing his friends. He didn’t do anything about Chloe nearly murdering a train full of people. So many times he just stood aside with little more than a token line when someone is doing something bad.
Those are just some possibilities. I hope those helped.

The Goth’s Law offices.
18+  slight adult content.
7:45 pm
Judith who was still outraged at how she was yet again portrayed by the media; storms down to The Goth’s Law offices, unannounced of course to try and speak with her lawyer.
A young women with bright red hair and glasses that were seemingly to large for her face, sat behind the front desk. She was quickly shuffling through papers and beginning to collect her things to head home for the evening.
Judith throws open the two front doors which makes the secretary jump in her seat and throws the papers she was working so hard to organize up into the air.
“Oh, Miss. Ward. We weren't expecting you.” she said nervously while trying to recollect all of the papers. “I was just about to lock the doors.” She smiled looking up at her.
Tumblr media
Judith angrily folded her arms across her chest. “Hello, Anna, Where is your father? He has been avoiding my calls for the last 3 hours.”
Anna looks up at Judith with a faint smile. You could tell she was exhausted. “I’m so sorry Miss. Ward, he has been in meetings all day.”
Tumblr media
Judith scrunched her forehead.
“Well you are his secretary, you could have returned my calls or at least informed me.” She scowled.
Taken aback by Judith’s rudeness “I am so sorry Miss. Ward, I haven’t been in the office all day, I was sent to our other location to help handle some filing that needed to be done.” She says shifting nervously in her seat then pauses.
“It’s a complete disaster over there.” she giggles. “But I guess that’s what happens when you hire new interns.”
She paused. Unsure if Judith was going to let her finish.
“Especially Baby Ariel.” She laughed rolling her eyes. “Poor girl, just can’t seem to figure our how to use our filing programs.”
Tumblr media
“She couldn’t find her way out of a paper bag if she wanted too not to mention her failing out of the spot light, what makes her think she can work a real job.” Judith huffed and rolled her eyes.
Judith and Baby Ariel are enemies.
“Help is hard to come by...”  Anna said looking down at her keyboard.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get snippy with you.” Judith said apologetically realizing that she did in fact snap at the poor girl. “It’s just urgent and I really need to speak with him.”
“Don’t worry Miss. Ward, I understand why you are upset.” She responded still smiling.
Tumblr media
“Follow me, he should still be in his office.” Anna replied getting up from her desk.
“Thank you.” Judith smiled back.
Tumblr media
Brushing out the wrinkles from her skirt Anna walked around to the other side of the front desk and around the half wall. Judith followed. Walking up to the office you could see his doors were wide open and a middle-aged man worn out from stress sat behind the desk typing away frantically.
“Oh good dad, You’re still here.” Anna smiles at her father, who then looks up from his computer over his glasses at her. “Miss. Ward is here to see you.” she continued.
Removing his glasses he rubs his eyes. “Thank you.” He suddenly says waving Judith in and Anna away.
Tumblr media
Anna turns to Judith. “I will be leaving soon so if you need anything before hand just give me a shout. I will be at my desk finishing up a few things.”
Judith looks over at Anna and gives her a faint smile then pushes passed her with her nose up in the air and storms directly into his office.
Tumblr media
“Judith!” Andrew smiles at her, rising from his desk chair.
“Save it.” She growls holding out her hand to stop him
“I’m sorry I haven't been able to return any of your calls.” He begins to say. “I have been in meetings all day, I’m sure Anna informed you. Have a seat.” He responded gesturing Judith towards the couch with a tired wave of his arm.
Angrily she sits.
Tumblr media
“So what brings you here so late in the evening.” Andrew asks her turning off the monitor to his computer.
“I’m guessing you have seen the papers.” Judith spoke with attitude.
“Ah, Yes. Judith, I have told you many times that you need to try and lay low until things blow over.” He rubbed his temples. “People are still outraged at your last stunt, so of course they are going to be out gunning for you.”
Tumblr media
Judith frowned.
“I am a celebrity, how do you except me to lay low, when I have movies that I need to audition for, award ceremonies and parties to attend.” She responded getting angry.
Andrew rubbed his forehead and put his arms up on his desk sighing heavily.
“There must be something you can do!?” she replied. “What else am I paying you for.”
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry, but you knew this could happen....” he began to say “And what is going on with Max? Some of the articles must be true if you’re in here.” He smiled leaning forward in his chair and rubbing the back of his knuckles.
“Max just showed up there is nothing there, and never will be, and as for the drugs I don’t know how anyone would know what I am taking except for my doctor.” She scolded pointing angrily at him.
“Well, The only thing I recommend that we can do legally is you can put a restraining order on him.” He sighed. “But other then that there isn't really anything more I can do for you as far as the media goes.”
Tumblr media
Judith rose to her feet. “You’re fucking kidding me?” she shouted. “You are supposed to protect me from all allegations and what you’re basically telling me is you can't do shit?!”
Andrew leaned back into his chair and sighed heavily.
“Miss. Ward...” he responded getting all professional.
“Don’t you Miss. Ward me.” she grunted back.
Tumblr media
Putting his hands up to his head he lost his composure.
“Judith, You need to stop acting like your are a teenager! Take responsibility for your own actions. The only advice I can give you is stay out of trouble!” he replied raising his voice to her.
“Excuse me?” Judith answered with a shocked expression on her face.
“I’m sorry Miss. Ward. It’s just late and I have a lot of things I need to finish.” He said taking a deep breath in through his nose. Which whistled as he did so.
Tumblr media
Judith crossed her arms and stomped her foot hard on the tile. Her wooden sandals clapped hard and the noise echoed out into the hall.
“I can assure you Miss. Ward, Stomping your foot and throwing a hissy fit isn’t going to fix anything.” He replied turning back on the monitor to his computer and resumed typing. “Now if you wouldn't mind. I would love to get home soon to my wife it has been a very long day.”
“How can you sit there and just let this happen!” she yelled angrily not breaking eye contact.
“As you’re lawyer I can only protect you from so many things Judith.” he replied still not looking up from his computer screen.
Tumblr media
Not knowing what else she could do, Judith held her hand to her head. “I feel dizzy.” she lied.
“Then please, sit down. We can try to discuss things like adults.” Andrew replied looking up from his computer to make sure she was still standing upright.
Tumblr media
Realizing her dramatic attempt didn’t work. “Look Andrew... you and I both know that there is a lot more you can do.” her voice suddenly changed. “Remember the last time, When I tried to stab Max in the eye.” she continued, walking around behind his desk.
Running her finger along the glass desk top she sat down, crossing one leg, over the other.  Andrew shift uneasily in his chair, still trying to keep his eyes on his work.
“Come on.” She coaxed. “Don’t you remember.”
Andrew slammed his fits down hard on his desk. “God damn it Judith.”
Tumblr media
Turning his chair to face her, she places her foot in between his legs and pulled him closer.
“We had such a good time.” She whispered softly “Do I need to refresh your memory?”
“Judith...I....” Andrew began to say.
Judith held her hand up and placed it gently on his chin, pulling his face closer to hers.
“You helped me once before.” Judith breathed “I’m sure you can help me again.”
Andrew trying to look away just couldn’t take his eyes off of her.
Tumblr media
Pushing him back hard into his chair she lifted her leg up onto his desk and leaned back.
Tilting her head she rubbed her hand along the inside of her thigh moaning slightly. “Come on, there has to be some way I can convince you.” She smiled looking back at him.
Andrew nervously clasped his hands together trying not to fall for her tricks as he did last time.
Tumblr media
Realizing her seduction attempts were failing she moved her position so she was now sitting on his lap sideways and facing him.
“Miss. Ward...” he tried to say.
“Shh. Let me take care of you, because you do such a good job taking care of me.” she said holding her finger up to his lips.
She could feel his hot breath as slowly placed her finger into his mouth and he sucked it gently. Running her now wet finger along the outer part of his lips, he just couldn’t contain himself, and he pulled her close and kissed her hard. (Insert more dirty things here, damn Tumblr rules!)
Tumblr media
Pushing away from him Judith kissed his neck and slowly eased down onto her knees. Andrew placed his hand on the back of her head and breathed heavily. She looked up at him with a smile and slowly began to unzip his pants.
“Try and be quiet.” She smiled. “We wouldn’t want your Daughter to hear now would we.”
Tumblr media
Grunting, Andrew lifted her head to look up at him. “Make this quick.” he smiled leaning back in his chair.
Judith grinned from ear and ear and lowered her face down onto him and began to suck. Andrew tilted his head back in pleasure, grabbing her by the back of her hair he began to deeply moan trying to muffle his noise through clenched teeth.
Tumblr media
(Insert dirty sucking noises and moaning here. Add some dirty talk if you want. Again damn tumblr ruining my flow haha.)
Tumblr media
Suddenly...
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” Anna said who now appeared standing in the doorway looking as red as a tomato.
Judith glanced over then slowly rose to her feet. She wiped her mouth, and Andrew quickly zipped up his pants getting the zipper caught slightly then frantically tugging it hard so it zipped shut.
“Anna! Hi, I uh....” Andrew tried to speak.
“I was just coming to let you know I was leaving...” she interrupted looking down at the floor.
Tumblr media
“Don’t you knock?” Judith said angrily looking down at her nails semi disappointed that they were cut short.
“Judith that is no way to speak to my daughter.” he scolded. “I’m sorry honey, please let your mother know I will be home soon.” he smiled.
Tumblr media
“Ok, and Miss. Ward, I am so sorry for interrupting. I was very rude of me...” Anna replied softly.
Raising her hands to her hips. “Good, you should be.”
Anna stood there awkwardly for a moment. “Well, Take care Miss. Ward. I’ll see you at home Dad.”
Anna turned to leave, still red as a tomato and potentially scarred for life.
Tumblr media
“Hold on one second Anna, I was just leaving myself let me walk you out.” Andrew responded guiltily smiling at his daughter.
Turning back to Judith. “I have to go for the night, but I will try and figure something out for you ok?”
Judith held her arm and looked at the floor. Sighing with relief. “Thank you so much. Really, I appreciate it.”
Tumblr media
Sighing loudly. “Anytime Judith. oh and also in the mean time. Try and stay out of trouble!” He smirked grabbing his suitcase and heading towards the door.
“You are the best!” Judith smiled blowing him a kiss.
Anna rolled her eyes. Grabbing his coat Andrew turned off the lights to his office and made his way to the front door. Saying Goodbye to Judith he watched as her limo pulled away. Locking up tight he turned and gave his daughter a hug.
“Please don’t tell you mother.” his voice shaking and his grip tightening.
Tumblr media
Anna kissed her dad on the cheek. “I won’t, I promise.”
“I love you kiddo.” He smiled at her before giving a quick kiss on the top of her head.
Anna smiled gently, “Love you too dad.” then she ducked into her car and drove away.
Andrew turned to his car and leaned over the hood. Slamming his fist down hard he shouts.
“DAMN IT!”

FAQ Update
Changelog:
Updated questions- gave a little more reasoning behind them.
Addded new questions.
Added more categories (listed in table of contents)
Added Table of Contents
Updated the following questions:
Why did you stop writing the magic business posts?
If you have worked at least One (1) customer service job then you should have everything you need service skills-wise already. You know, the whole “customer service” voice, “don’t scream at the customer” and all that 101 level stuff.
Additionally, someone with decent business savvy/potential would continue despite obstacles, and that’s the mindset you need if you want to run a business successfully. I cannot give someone the confidence, social skills, guts, critical thinking, and tolerance for criticism that running a business needs.
Also- most of the info I said was Business 101, all of which is easily googleable.
Why don’t you write beginner posts??
I don’t want like writing unoriginal shit that has been regurgitated by everyone else.
They’re literally e v e r y w h e r e, like 99% of magic blogs are beginner oriented/friendly, and if someone complains that they have trouble finding beginner posts then that means they really aren’t looking hard enough
As the about says, this blog is not oriented towards beginners
A lot of beginners are straight up rude (intentionally or not) through actions such as not checking the FAQ, expecting help and throwing a hissy fit when I can’t or don’t want to help them) and I don’t want to deal with that.
A lot of beginners do that thing where they’ll start sucking an experienced person’s dick, and by that I mean they won’t think critically about the information given, and  they’ll stop forming their own opinions, etc.
No matter how much you prod and help beginners, they will never advanced beyond being beginners unless they take it upon themselves to research, form their own opinions, have better critical thinking, etc; you can’t “give” that to someone.
Because of the above, I don’t want to attract beginners to this blog
I don’t fucking want to.
Can I rant/vent to you?
Are you someone that has spoken with me regularly several times over the course of at least a few weeks, and are therefore a friend I have a personal connection with?
>If YES, go ahead.
>If NO, don’t. Why are you trying to rant to a total stranger on the internet????? I am not your friend nor your therapist. It would be far more in your benefit to find a good friend or a therapist to vent to, as they can give you personalized advice that I cannot.
I say this because I have had absolute strangers, minors in particular, come to me out of the blue with extremely personal stuff that I cannot help with in any way, such as depression, mental instability, suicide thoughts, and it’s like dude. Where on my blog did I say I was a licensed therapist?? I am not a therapist nor will I ever be.
Can I still send you an ask if the ask box is closed?
Take a minute to think on what the ask box being closed means. Trust me, the answer is not complex.
This post is too long! Can you put it under a “read more”?
No. It takes only a few seconds to scroll past a long post on mobile and on desktop you can just press “j” to skip a post entirely. Also, if the original post were to be deleted, everything under the ‘read more’ is lost forever because tumblr has shit coding.
Added questions:
How 2 git gud/how to stop being a beginner?
General growth tips:
Critical thinking and magical practice are not inherently diametrically opposed/mutually exclusive.
Try to see arguments/disagreement/criticism as an opportunity to learn more instead of a Personal Offense/Invalidation
Learn to actually argue/debate. Research your basic fallacies and try to avoid them; the biggest 6 I see with magic stuff are the association fallacy, fallacy of composition, hasty generalizations, ad hominem, cherry-picking info, and ignoratio elenchi. But really, research all fallacies because hooo boy are they present a LOT.
Form your own fucking opinions. Be open minded; consider others’ opinions/experiences but don’t believe in them wholly at face value. Accepting and believing are two different but related things; accept but don’t believe, just yet.
Discernment
Be wary of people who hide behind their years of experience! It's variety of experiences, not length, that matters more. Someone who's only had good experiences for 10 years knows less applicable knowledge than someone with 5 years of experience who’s had both good, bad, and outright ugly experiences, and has used various methods of working rather than the same one the whole time. On top of limited applicable info, the person who has only had good experiences will usually be biased and not able to see multiple viewpoints.
Be wary of people who generalize when talking about a spiritual species instead of investigating more, and believe their very general and shallow info is The Only Truth(™)
#notALL and bofa are your friends
Take everything you read on them with a grain of salt/use your better judgement- /especially/ on tumblr. And be wary of emotionally fueled people trying to make informational posts.
There is rarely if ever an #ALL
Be wary of minors
Be wary of 20-30+ year olds with the emotional maturity of a toddler (unable to take criticism, lack of critical thinking). Double if they think their magic experience gives them an excuse to be immature because ANY criticism of their info is instead a Personal Offense and Invalidates Their Entire Magical Path And Years of Experience  ;;((
Be wary of experienced people who get on their experience high horse. Signs include: I can’t write ANYTHING because it’s all WAY TOO SACRED/ADVANCED (aka I don’t know how to write/word shit but I won’t admit it/I am unable to analyze my experiences to synthesize widely useful or applicable info.”), getting SUPER offended if someone has a different working method/approach than they do
be mature enough to accept that criticizing/analyzing/rationalizing info is not the same as bashing or invalidating it
Being able to tell when people who consider themselves/are considered more experienced than others are full of shit and actually don’t know shit (ex- “you need to be able to astral if you want to work with any spirits”)
Do magic with what you want, do what you want with magic
How long have you been practicing?
I won’t say. It’s better to judge experience level from information given rather than years. I think my posts do a good job at showing my experience.

10 Things I Learned Writing FanFic
(Bonus Blog Post: Also on Twitter as Thread!)
I'm going to try and do a TEN THINGS #WritingCommunity . My experience in writing is probably the "new wave" as I started in fanfic. When things get tough, I try to apply things I learned in my over a decade there to now. YMMV So, TEN THINGS I learned writing/reading fanfic!
1. Sturgeon's Law Exists y'all. Sturgeon's law states that 90% of everything is crap. I don't care where you publish this is true. Especially in fanfic circles were newbie writers are posting their precious first draft writing babies. You have to dig to find good stuff.
2. REVIEWS =/= quality. AKA being POPULAR doesn't mean that the story is good or well written! Sure, 90% of writing is crap. AND PEOPLE LIKE THAT CRAP. Because crap is subjective, especially as you're learning, growing & forming opinions. Someone out there found merit in it! YAY!
3. THERE IS ROOM FOR EVERYONE. The thing about fanfic & about indie publishing is that there is no gatekeeping. There is no arbitrary "this is what is selling" rules to adhere to. And that means everyone is allowed even if YOU don't like it personally.
3.1 that means everyone is out there trying to find their readers, their tribe, their MARKET. That's great b/c that means a lot of voices (female, LGBTA+, POC) can be heard! Indie and Fanfic let's writers take RISK and have an AUDIENCE. (Even if they are hard to find sometimes.)
4. About Reviews. Only 1 in 3 people are going to leave reviews (if you're famous) and only 1 in 10 are going to make it past the first chapter. It doesn't mean your work is bad. All it means is your work wasn't for them! That's okay! see, there is room for EVERYONE.
4.1 MOST of my reviews were very short to the lines of "write more" with maybe a PLEASE tacked on. When I was active, I tried to thank every reviewer regardless of length of review. The long reviews of "you made my day" quality were few, far between and cherished. This is normal!
5. SOMEONE IS ALWAYS GOING TO DISLIKE YOUR STORY. And sometimes, they're going to be vocal about it and leave you that bashing review. That just means your story wasn't for them. Onto the next reader that appreciates you and what you do!
5.1 as a writer, you are the star of your own narrative. Bad reviews are people trying to clip your wings. Unsolicited constructive criticism and outright bashing helps no one and only causes people to stop writing. I don't care how good your intentions are if you do this, STOP.
5.2 The thing about bad reviews that are "constructive" is that the book I've written is already published. I can't/won't change it. And the "constructive" review will not apply to the next book. And no amount of positive openings makes unsolicited advice sting less.
5.3 Your intentions are to mean well and "this will help." Well, buddy, I've had a beta reader/editor for the last ten years and I can tell you right now that I trust her a lot more than I trust you oh random stranger on the internet.
5.4, a PUBLISHED Story or book is a PRODUCT. A review for a PRODUCT in this case is for the reader and not the AUTHOR. As an author, I may not do more than scan your review for your star rating. So please, pitch your reviews to other readers.
Okay, MOVING ON.
6. BACKLOG/EXPOSURE is EVERYTHING. People can't read your stories if they don't know you exist. The people who become Big Name Fans in fanfic circles are those that are constantly putting themselves out there in the public eye by writing.
6.1 True story! The reason why 50 Shades of Grey was first so popular as "Masters of the Universe" twilight fanfic is because James posted 100 or so words each DAY as a CHAPTER so her fanfic was constantly at the top of the "updated" pile. James is in marketing.
6.2 True story 2! When I ran a pairing community on LJ (FFX-2), a "new to us" writer came in, posted a story and then complained she got no feedback elsewhere b/c she was a big name fan in DIGIMON. We didn't know who she was, we needed more exposure to her to interact more. It felt like to ME (and several others in my circle) that she wanted to be an overnight sensation in our group b/c she was so huge in the Digimon fandom. We took exception to this! Those of us who were big had put in a lot of hard work to be that way!
This leads to...
7. BEING FAMOUS IS WORK NOT FUN. By the time I left fandom, I had run up to 3 communities, worked on a review website, wrote over 50 works, all of this in my spare time while doing an INTENSIVE college schedule (Fashion) and I was BURNT OUT.
7.1, this led to a lot of things being lobbed my way. Accusations of favoritism. I got cussed out. I had people throwing hissy fits at me. I did some things I probably shouldn't have being a young 20 something.
7.2, Trying to build a network of authors to create these communities was tons and tons of emailing and invitations and soliciting and keeping my name up there on the "recently updated" on ffnet and putting in my communities in my Author's Notes. It is exhausting!
7.3, so if your goals are to be the NEXT GRR Martin, think about all the interviews and conventions and emails he's fielding on TOP of trying to write his books. There are reasons most authors don't do more than the convention circuit/have 1 social media. THEY HAVE WORK TO DO.
8. CALL OUT CULTURE IS BAD. The morality police, the grammar police, the "think of the children" police, it's all bad. It's why we can't have nice things. And guess what, in five to ten years, it's going to change ANYWAYS. It's simply a waste of time and energy that does nothing.
Calling back to 3...
9. TROPES AREN'T BAD. Tropes exist for a reason to help ease storytelling. Tropes are plot hooks and the coat hangers we build our stories upon. No matter what, you use tropes even if you're LAMP-SHADING them. People like tropes.
9.1 Tropes are nice fuzzy warm blankets that make readers feel comfortable. Maybe "Only one bed" is overdone, but for readers who LOVE "only one bed" they're going to devour every fic NO MATTER the quality. All they see is MORE STORIES FOR ME TO READ WHEE!
9.2, I'm saying here to an extent ORIGINALITY is overrated. Because given HOW MANY stories have been told and how much WRITING is being published, having that "original" idea or telling something in an "original" way is next to impossible. So, write what you WANT.
10. MY EXPERIENCE DOESN'T INVALIDATE YOUR EXPERIENCE. My experience in my writing career is simply my experience. It's not wrong. Just as yours is yours and yours isn't wrong either. It's simply what's happened to us on our writing journey.
10.1, If people are getting emotional and telling you that your experience as a writer is WRONG, then they are the ones with the problem. Not you. You can ONLY relate what you've experienced. If they haven't experienced it, then good for them.
10.2, if they keep INSISTING that your experience is wrong all b/c THEY haven't experienced it, then they lack EMPATHY and are NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. They don't DESERVE YOUR ENERGY. They are a tiny player in your life and easily shut OFF.
10.3 As LONG as you're willing to stand behind what you write on the internet, social media/books, and it doesn't HURT other people, then there is NO REASON why you can't curate your experience to mute/block the naysayers from your life. It can be abusive harassment.
10.4, NO ONE deserves to be abusively harassed and personally attacked over their experience and their writing. NO ONE. Being kind, being empathetic, listening and learning only costs you the pain of BEING WRONG. I say pain, because it actually HURTS the brain to admit that you are wrong. The ego/pride PHYSICALLY can't take the idea of being WRONG. This is why people lash out. This is why people act hurt when confronted about it. They don't like PAIN. Pain is our body's FEAR reaction. "Something hurts. Don't do that." Being wrong means giving into our pain/fear & having to change! We also don't like change. Don't let THEIR FEAR control you/your EXPERIENCE. As long as you aren't hurting anyone, that is on them. Not you.
10.5 Those who don't get you, don't deserve you! Find those that do and KEEP ON WRITING.
I also write books. So, check out my Awesome Amazon Profile for Sons of Anarchy for Urban Fantasy and Kick Ass Warrior Princess stories featuring #werewolves.

Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Your Anger
Tumblr media
“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 4:26-27 This might be the best advice anyone ever gave you. No, not mine, but the words of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4.
Tumblr media
When my wife and I were married, we made a pact that only one of us was allowed to be angry at a time. And, we would never go to bed angry with one another. It was a given that disputes were inevitable. So we devised a plan for resolving conflict. Back in 1971, we weren’t what you would call Bible scholars. We carried the name Christian and attended church. I suppose you could say we were running on the general principles of the faith, doing the best we could. As was so often the case, I relied on my grandmother for wise counsel. She’s the one who told me, “Don’t let the sun go down on your anger.” There’s more indispensable advice in our focus text. “In your anger do not sin.” In the process of blowing your top, you risk giving “the devil a foothold.” When you lose control of your emotions, especially when the target of your frustration is with another person, you are opening the door to Satan and saying, “Come on in.” Anger leads to sin easily and swiftly. It causes us to do and say things we shouldn’t, and it often leads to irreparable harm. Anger is not the language of love, but the language of hate. Anger destroys relationships and our Christian witness, which is precisely what the Devil wants. Nothing pleases him more than to destroy good and godly relationships, cause enmity and strife, and ruin reputations. In my 69 years, I have never known anybody who didn’t get angry. It is a basic human emotion common to everyone. But it must be managed, or unwanted trouble and hardship is sure to come. Paul’s statement anticipates anger. He says, “In your anger…” When it happens this is what you do about it. Manage it. Keep it under control. Don’t allow it to cause you to sin. It is better to spend an entire night without sleep than go to bed mad at someone, especially those you love. Don’t we owe the people we love the benefit of working at reconciliation BEFORE that little flame turns into a consuming fire? When I get angry, it’s not an attractive sight. I become irrational, say stupid stuff, and have been known to kick or throw something of value, like a lamp. I’ve never pitched a graceful fit. In my defense, I’m not a hothead, and I seldom get angry. Maybe that’s why my hissies are so awkward. Limited experience. Here’s the thing. Anger hurts others. I sure don’t want to hurt anybody and I would imagine you feel the same way. But even though you and I have no intention of hurting others, Satan lives for it. There are many things we can do to control anger. Bridling the tongue comes to mind. Just find what works best for you to prevent transitioning from anger into sin. Deal with it before it becomes a destructive problem. Even if you’ve been married for a long time, it’s not too late to take advantage of Paul’s wise counsel. “Don’t let the sun go down on your anger.” I promise, it works. Heroes and Zeros: Neyo vs Mo'Nique
The Heroes and Zeros this week is a singer who put a fellow artist in his place, and the zero is a B-List celebrity and her husband who both need to turn it down a notch. Hero - Neyo You know how you have some men who feel that they are God’s gift to women. They believe that they always have something important to say and have no filter in letting women know what we need to do in order to get and or keep a man. Tyrese is one such individual, and he continues to get a lot of flak for constantly giving his two cents where it is not needed nor asked. This week’s hero is Neyo because thankfully, he subtly clapped back at the fellow singer by letting him know that women do just fine in the relationship department and don’t need his help. Recently, Tyrese posted a photo onto his Instagram with the caption, “Men only. Give the ladies some relationship advice.” Naturally, swarms of know it all men gave their thoughts on what women should do to be better in relationships. Then swooped in Neyo with one simple, very true comment, “Don’t listen to any of our advice. Do what you want.” I wish more men like Neyo understood that they have very little ground upon which to stand in telling us what we need to do in a relationship. Granted, sometimes women do the most and have a one sided view about romantic expectations, but the last group of people we need or want to hear from are misogynistic men who feel they have the answers to everything. Most of the time the kind of advice they give to women about what we should be doing is self-centered ideals on how we can please better please them. Mind you these are the same kind of men who cheat on their girlfriends with multiple women and then turn around throwing hissy fits when said girlfriends steps out one time after all the bullshit. When it comes down to it, you have to have some kind of credibility with the group of individuals you offer “advice” to if you want to be taken seriously. And while I’m not saying that Neyo’s track record is squeaky clean, it is refreshing to know that there are men who don’t shy away from telling their homeboys when they are wrong about women. For standing up and saying what women already know, Neyo is this week’s hero. Zero - Mo’Nique Here’s the thing, I know exactly how it is to be wronged and want to get back at the people who hurt you. But at this moment, Mo’Nique AND her “boo thang” need to “simmer down now.” She and husband Sydney Hicks are this week’s zeros because of their need to continue their messy call out of the people who “white balled” her in Hollywood and for bringing unrelated people into the drama for the sake of attention. Now, I gave the comedienne the benefit of the doubt when she first made her shocking statements about Oprah, Tyler Perry, and Lee Daniels during a set on Mother’s Day weekend last month. But here recently, during her podcast, she has used the situation to, I don't know, bring some relevancy to her hurting career, and it is just an overall bad look. Especially since she felt the need to tell the world that big-time black actresses like Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer, in essence, don’t get paid shit for the work that they do. According to her, their names came up during a conversation with Tyler Perry, who called her from the Bahamans after hearing her explicit rant. She said during her live stream that the media mogul remarked, “‘I was shocked to know what Taraji P. Henson’s quote is and what Octavia Spencer’s quote is. I was shocked to know how low their quotes are…’” At this point, her continuing to talk about it is old. Coming back to the public and rehashing the conversation she had about it is tacky. Is she trying to clear her name? Is she trying to show people she’s not this monster of a diva the industry tried to make her out to be? I don’t know. What I do know is nothing she is doing right now makes me want to see her work. In fact, the careless manner in which she speaks about the situation only serves to support the notion that she is, indeed, difficult to work with. I’m sure a host of other people, are left wondering what her end game is in all of this. Not that she cares what we think, which by the way, is probably the kind of attitude that got her the reputation she has in the industry. For being super petty without a purpose, Mo’Niuqe is a zero.
