So I've had these Grunkle Stan crackships on my mind for almost a year now. Could be interpreted as platonic, but I think there's great and fascinating potential if interpreted fully romantic. Full musings and explanations below (Warning: very disjointed and random).
Uncle Chan from Jackie Chan Adventures
Maybe Ford and Stan stumble across the Chans on one of their globe-trotting adventures. Both groups fight off the same supernatural threat and surprise each other with their ease and familiarity with the weird and fantastical.
I feel Uncle is kind of a weird in-between of Ford and Stan. He is knowledgeable but not a nerd like Ford, is generally cranky but doesn't get into trouble like Stan does, although he does have a level of disregard towards authority if it gets in the way of his goals. He's quick to do research instead of impulsively charging into a situation.
I think Uncle's dynamic with Stan would be hilarious. They would argue a lot on how to deal with a threat, but once they agree to work together, they could kick ass. Once he gets past his initial annoyance, Stan would probably enjoy Uncle's quips, even more so when he realizes that Uncle does not say them to be funny, he's just naturally snarky.
Uncle is never shown having any romantic interest or relationships, so I kind of headcanon him as ace, but I think it would be really interesting to see what kind of queerplatonic relationship he and Stan could form.
Jade and Mabel would probably hit it off immediately, and while Jade isn't as studious as Dipper, she also has an enthusiasm for the supernatural so she'd probably get along decently with him. She'd also probably think Stan and Ford are super cool, especially considering their lax attitude toward giving children weapons. Though they do still take the kids' safety very seriously.
Jackie is doubtful of Stan, much like he was with Viper, but seeing Stan look out for the kids would probably endear him a little. Ford might also help ease his worries, and maybe they both could have fun discussion about archeology.
I think Tohru and Soos could get along decently, though Tohru would find Soos' eccentric musings odd at first.
Additionally, Uncle's shop is in San Francisco, practically next door to Dipper and Mabel in Piedmont. The kids would easily visit each other every weekend.
Bruno Madrigal from Encanto
Stan has been to prison in Colombia, so I don't think he'd willingly travel there for fun, and Encanto Valley seems relatively closed off from the rest of the world, so I imagine their meeting is accidental, maybe a result of the Stans getting caught in a storm or something. They stay for a while in the valley while repeating their boat.
Stan might initially be outraged at the idea of the Madrigals not charging anyone for the use of their gifts, but perhaps lightens up when he sees how close-knit the community is. He'd still come up with ways they could show off their powers Mystery Shack style, probably butting heads with Alma in the process, lol. He might encourage Bruno to adapt a more showman-like approach to his seer abilities to make it more presentable and less intimidating.
Bruno and Stan connecting over their shared feelings of isolation from family is definitely what drew me to these two together in the first place. If they ever got serious about their relationship, I can imagine the biggest hurdle would be deciding if they should continue a long-distance relationship, since neither is keen on asking the other to be separated from their family.
Yuuko Ichihara from xxxHolic and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
Major spoiler alerts for both series. It's been many years since I've read them, and Tsubasa had so many plot twists that even CLAMP (the writers) admitted they were confused by the end result. I also might be misremembering some details, so bear with me. Factoring in the plotlines for both series and Gravity Falls would make for an incredible AU fanfic that I unfortunately am not qualified to write.
Due to Yuuko's shop being in Tokyo, a whole ocean away from Oregon, I like to imagine some timey-wimey space mumbo jumbo allowing Yuuko and Stan to meet in the dream realm. Maybe at some point, Yuuko's shop would obtain a door connecting it to the Mystery Shack.
Stan and Yuuko both have a mischievous side, though Yuuko is generally more reserved. They could start out as drinking buddies, though I imagine Stan would probably favor a light beer, while Yuuko loves sake.
They also both use aliases (it is never revealed what Yuuko's real name is), but Yuuko would likely be upfront about it. As their relationship progresses, Stan would probably feel comfortable telling Yuuko his real first name, even after she tells him the supernatural dangers of giving your real name.
While Stan scams his customers, he generally sells harmless entertainment and trinkets, whereas Yuuko grants wishes and operates strictly on an equivalent exchange basis. To quote the wiki, "All of Yuuko's customers must pay a price in order to grant their wishes, which can be no more or no less than the one demanded, or else harm will come to one's way. She is not one to tell the customer the most direct way to solve their problems because in the end, it can only be solved with that person's own realization and resolution to change themselves... Her abilities are not unlimited and may almost seem like a curse as it appears that she is unable to do anything for anyone or grant any gift (other than feelings) without it becoming a binding transaction."
When Stan finds out just how powerful Yuuko is, I think he might react with a mixture of hesitation and awe, especially when she reveals she knows about his past, and Ford being lost in the multiverse. I am on the fence on whether Yuuko would use her powers to bring Ford home sooner, or let Stan continue working on the portal because he's already close to completing it and this would be significant in defeating Bill.
I found that the main villain of Tsubasa, Fei Wang Reed, surprisingly parallels Stan. Both endanger reality to bring back someone who is lost, but while Stan does it out of love and devotion to his family, Fei Wang Reed only did it in an arrogant plan to prove himself a powerful sorcerer. And in Fei's case, the person is already dead. CLAMP's universe establishes that the dead cannot be brought back to life, and Fei's wish to do so would cause the universe to be destroyed. I wonder if Bill would factor Fei as part of his plans.
Stan also surprisingly shares a lot in common with Fai D Fluorite. Both use their twin's name (Fai's real name is Yuui), and for much of the series Fai's tragic backstory regarding his twin is unknown, and he hides his trauma under a laid back exterior. I think Stan would empathize a lot with Fai, after he finds out his backstory.
Kimihiro Watanuki is revealed to have been created to fill a void left by Syaoran after the latter wished to turn back time. I remember Watanuki's character arc involved realizing that people cared about him. "Don't disappear", "Continue existing". Stan would probably take Watanuki under his wing, much like he did with Soos. Watanuki might find life with the Pines family far more chaotic than he's used to, but slowly warm up.
Yuuko is revealed to have died a long time ago and has basically been in magical stasis due to Clow Reed's unintentional wish. When time finally moves forward again, Yuuko eventually passes on. She doesn't return in the canon series, but Watanuki is stated to have also suspended his time to wait for her return. In this AU, maybe she reincarnates in the past and reunites with Stan and the Pines in the present day.

I feel like Fruits Basket had a missed opportunity to write a great arc for Yuki instead of him ending up with Machi. And I LOVE Machi and their romance is really cute but I didn't feel satisfied with that ending for Yuki.
When I first watched Fruits Basket I was sure that Yuki was supposed to be queer-coded and his arc about self acceptance and love was him coming out of the closet.
The reason for that is because of the way Yuki is constantly presented and the way he reacts to other people.
Yuki always gets mad at Kyo for calling him "girly boy" or "pretty boy".
He tries to put up at tough persona to try to appear more masculine.
He has a fanclub with both girls AND boys crushing on him.
Whenever he "flirts" with Tohru it would come off as awkward (I know it's because he considers her as his mom figure but still!!! And yet he has some unspoken rizz when it comes to flirting with guys tho)
Even his dislike of Ayame and not wanting to be like him was kinda him not wanting to come out of the closet (Ayame also gets a last minute love interest to make him more hetero. I thought he was definitely not straight)
It just made sense to me this was going to be his arc. Especially since Fruits Basket is sooo good at depicting emotions. I thought Yuki's arc was him overcoming his hatred of that part of himself and essentially coming out of the darkness that Akito had made him live in.
When the Student council members were introduced I thought Kakeru was going to be both a foil AND a love interest for Yuki. They just had that dynamic and chemistry that made it seem like Kakeru would change Yuki and help him understand his true self and feelings. I thought Machi was the quiet/ weird side character that would have a similar role as Kimi (comedic).
Then the whole Machi x Yuki happened and I was proven wrong. I didn't hate it but....Kakeru and Yuki just had so much growth in their friendship, I couldn't help but ship them.
I would have been happy with even a Bi-Panic moment for Yuki with Kakeru and Machi (who are both half-siblings)
Yuki just had the perfect personality and backstory for a good coming out arc but it never came to be.
(Ps: I am NOT hating Machi and Yuki's relationship. It's just that Fruits Basket had many opportunities to have gay characters but didn't commit to it)

Santa, Dreams, Wishes, and Presents in Buddy Daddies - SPOILERS!!
The way Santa, wishes, and dreams are presented in this series are quite interesting too. Miri never wishes for material items.
Tumblr media
In Ep. 1, she asks Santa to meet her Papa, in Ep. 11 she asks Santa for her Papas to finish their work soon and be at the Christmas Party.
Tumblr media
Neither Kazuki nor Rei had normal childhoods, so they never believed in Santa, but Miri did. Their dream to protect that is so sweet. Taking down Ryo, leaving the Org, and even Rei wearing the Santa outfit...it's all necessary for that dream to stay a reality for them.
Tumblr media
It's interesting how Santa almost works like some kind of higher power in the series, with the way Miri thanks him after she hugs Kazuki and Rei.
Tumblr media
And, I guess, in the eyes of children, Santa kinda is, right? An all magical being that gives you presents and wishes.
But, I can also easily see how this could morph into an issue when Miri gets older, specifically in her teen years that we see her entering in the Daughter Daddies part of the show.
We see Kazuki kind of fumbling and getting into a mess with his lies to Miri when they dropped her off at the daycare. Rei takes note of this as well, and is able to reel in the situation like he usually does with Kazuki.
Tumblr media
Rei sidesteps the issue as well, but he does provide Miri with a goal or something she can actively do for her mother, to keep her mind of of the fact that her mother wasn’t there (in person).
Tumblr media
During the Daughter Daddies part of Episode 12, we see that Miri knows her mother is dead, since she has her picture of her and talks to it (similar in a way to Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket, but likely not to the same extent).
Tumblr media
Kazuki does also mention doing “honest work” now with the diner, but that is a vague sentence. Miri is 14 years old now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they told her that her mother died from cancer and that Kazuki used make money through gambling or something.
Tumblr media
Partial truths.
Raising a teen, especially a high school student, where the mood and atmosphere is different from a junior high school, is so vastly different from raising a toddler. There are different challenges that come with that. Handling hard truths and difficult topics, conversations, and the harshness of reality tends to be key aspects of this time period. Lots realizations about parents and coming to terms with things like that.
So, if Kazuki and Rei did keep the truth about Misaki’s death, their past jobs, and other such related things from Miri in order to preserve her “normal childhood,” then I can see that becoming a topic that could be explored in a potential season 2 or OVA series/episode. Kazuki and Rei struggling to approach the topic with Miri, Miri’s struggle to comprehend and understand it all, maybe even a desire on her part to meet her grandparents, learn more about Misaki, and etc.
There is so much potential there! And that’s just talking about potential dramatic stuff. There is also the more comedic every day stuff (their diner), Miri’s school life, and less intense aspects of raising a teen daughter, especially for two guys. There is a lot of room to explore.
And, of course, if those things never do get explored in an OVA, movie, or Season 2, then at least I know there will be fanfics about this stuff...There probably already are, lol.

For the Fruits Basket asks: 2, 3, 19, and 18/20 for Momiji!
Oh, yay! I'm so glad you asked! (ask game here)
2. This might be the hardest question of all, because all the characters are so richly developed and I genuinely like (almost) all of them! I have a certain soft spot for Yuki and Momiji, of course, as the characters I relate to the most, and a similar soft spot for Ayame and Arisa, because I relate to them in a way as well, though to a lesser degree.
I've been writing a lot of Kyo, Saki, and (weirdly) Hiroshi, so I feel really attached to them right now. I mean, Kyo is a character whose happiness genuinely healed me. Saki's unapologetic weirdness is just the best (and uhhh my friend group in high school had a few people who shared several traits with Saki, so I was bound to like her). And Hiroshi and Yusuke are literally the best part of every scene they're in. (Especially Hiroshi in Cinderella-ish. Seriously, his narration is top tier!)
And Machi and Kakeru have a special place in my heart, too, partly because of their roles in Yuki's development, but also because of the ways I relate to each of them. And, of course, Tohru. I mean, there's so much to say about her, but her deep, deep empathy and the richness of her arc and development are just gorgeous.
I do keep coming back to Yuki and Momiji, though. They're central to two of the scenes that I found most surprisingly powerful; Yuki when he tells Kakeru "that isn't what I want!" and Momiji in his speech to Akito, when he says "a happiness might exist for me!" Outside of the major plot points of the series (which are nearly all centered around Tohru and Kyo), these two moments are, I think, some of the most satisfying developments for any of the characters, period.
(Oops, that turned into an essay 😅)
3. If we're sticking to named characters, I think Katsuya is the only choice. I know Takaya couldn't develop every single character in the series, but Katsuya is one whose development would have enriched not only him, but Kyoko, Tohru, and Grandpa Honda as well.
I think that the Katsuya-Kyoko relationship can be read as problematic and even predatory exactly as written. It reads as romanticized because it's told from Kyoko's point of view. But Katsuya himself remains kind of an enigma, and it's just really hard to like him when we don't even know what made him think pursuing a middle schooler was okay.
19. Oh gosh. You're going to get a few long answers, I fear. 😅
I have several favorite fanworks! Off the top of my head:
Ripples, by @proseprincess
So, canon divergent AUs are probably my favorite type of fic, and I especially love fics where one canon event changes, and everything that follows changes due to something like a butterfly effect. In this two-part series, Tohru never met Kureno in the park, which changes everything that came after in a big way. I love that this tackles some massive changes to canon, yet they all feel grounded in the world and characters we all know. The second installment is incomplete, but still very worth the read IMO, not only because part 1 ends with a massive cliffhanger, but because it's just so inventive and unlike anything else I've read. Maybe my very favorite fanwork.
I'll be Standing There By You, by Eboni_A
This is a beautiful, devastating AU told from Yuki's point of view where he finds out in the final weeks of her life that Tohru has terminal cancer. We see Yuki drop everything to come and support Kyo and be with Tohru in her final weeks, we see Tohru die, and we see Kyo and Yuki (and everyone else) try to keep going afterward. It's heartbreaking yet hopeful, and the author made relatively recent comments about a potential sequel! Fingers crossed!
Inertia, by miss_coverly @lesbian-kyoru
This is another canon divergent AU where Kyo and Tohru become friends with benefits before the curse breaks. It's honestly shocking how beautiful this work is. The prose is gorgeous, the angst is dialed all the way up, the sexual tension is dialed even higher, the characterization is crystal clear, it's honestly a masterclass in POV, the sex is sexy, and I could go on and on. I never thought a blowjob scene would make me cry, yet it did.
The Pursuit of Repeating History, by RiddleAfar @mistergrass
So, when I first started reading fanfiction, I stuck strictly with canon-compliant works. Then, I dipped my toes into canon divergence AUs like those above, but I heavily resisted reading anything with alternative pairings.
Then, I got curious about that one really popular Yuki/Kyo soulmates AU fic, and gave it a read. By the end of the first chapter, I couldn't put it down. And when I was finished reading, I knew I had to check out everything else by that author, which is how I ended up reading The Pursuit of Repeating History.
This story honestly showed me the power of fanfiction. The author legit crafted lore for the Fruits Basket universe. And the "lore" chapters (I think they're referred to as "intermissions") are each beautifully-told stories in their own right. But the author also grappled with how the curse might work, and I think they did an incredible job. I'm actually rereading this beast right now!
We'll Work it Out Together, by inheritanceofgeek @mrsmarymorstan
Okay, I'm a sucker for anything with lots of Hiroshi and Yusuke, and this story is probably the most Hiroshi-and-Yusuke-focused story on Ao3. (Probably worth mentioning the author's sideblog, @2d-iendfrays which is an absolute treasure!) In it, Kyo figures out he's asexual, then figures out he's demisexual, all with the help of his two wholesome buds.
Like almost all the authors on this list, inheritanceofgeek has some other really fantastic works that are worth checking out, from sexual humor to Yuki/Machi smut to a touching piece about new parenthood.
How Can I Thank You, by SharkFairy77
Another brilliant Yuki/Kyo piece, in which Yuki hosts Kakeru and Komaki for dinner (at the apartment he shares with Kyo), and at the last minute, Kakeru asks if Machi can come. (Machi is Yuki's ex in this universe)
The piece starts with dinner prep, and then dinner, and the character writing is just incredibly spot on. I loved the arc of the story through the dinner, and the way Kyo and Machi come to an understanding.
But then, we get into some A+ YukiKyo smut.
I'll Be Here, by Blanche2023 @biancanekoyokai
(Full disclosure - I beta read this work!)
This is a very sweet and sad piece about Kyo's first few days in Kazuma's care after his mother's death. Blanche's characterization is outstanding, and she handles tricky things (like writing a young Akito who's also performing head-of-the-family duties) in a really clever way.
I don't think there's enough pre-canon fic out there, nor enough gen fic, and this piece is just beautiful.
Escaping the future, by Modzy78
I really love the way Modzy78 thinks about the Fruits Basket universe, and her take on the canon-divergence of "what if Tohru never confessed to Kyo" is inventive, suspenseful, fluffy, and just such a fun read! I also really love her other canon divergent AU Cursing the Cursed. And Modzy78 is honestly a superhero for the fandom.
The Talk, by Geoduck @drgeoduck
Honestly, Geoduck has a ton of works you should read, but I'll mention this one because it's probably the funniest thing I've ever read. And then it somehow gets even funnier!
The Ones Who Walk Away From Sohma House, also by Geoduck
If you're a fan of Ursula K. Leguin (my very favorite author!), then you are probably familiar with her famous short story, The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, and this short fic is an absolute must-read.
no one is lost, by emphasis
Momiji bumps into Ritsu in a gay bar. Not a pairing I ever imagined, but an excellent fic that puts Momiji in the position of "elder queer" to Ritsu. (Honestly, I wish there were more Momiji-as-elder-queer fics!)
Some other favorites:
The Night We Met, by pettyimperfections
Hold On, by Danyu
Heart Strain, by Kitty0430
I think about you all the time, by lucybeee @riceballcatfb (incomplete)
Making Nice, by Itsalreadyhalloweenright @riza-rin-rose (incomplete)
What's a White Lie Between Friends (& My Family)? by AnxietyAvocado
My Hands on You is Just a Fantasy, by unscheduledmakeouts
This Air is Blessed, by KyoDoodles
Please, Let Her Live, by @goldfishoflove
And that isn't even touching the dozens of phenomenal Yukeru fics! Just a small selection of Yukeru favorites:
fit back in, by @luftballons99
woebegone, by a-bigail @yunsoh
The Other Side of Paradise, by reconquer @yukisohmasmokesweed
If I Ever Feel Better, also by reconquer
if i do anything i regret tonight, no i didn't, by sacrificialParsnip (another fic where Momiji is an elder queer!)
i wanna be dyed with your colors, by halfhope
Like Fireworks in the Night Sky, by Princely_Hairdos (incomplete, currently being updated!)
President Perfect, by draebelle
tongue tied, by b_o_i (note: heed the warnings!)
And if you're familiar with OnigiriCat4Ever's canon continuation series, Always and Forever, some of my favorite works from that series include My Brother, Truth and Consequences, You Don't Understand, I Want to Understand, and all of their smut (collected in a separate series called Tohru and Kyo's Amorous Adventures, plus one explicit Hajime/Mutsuki fic).
And, of course, I'm really proud of my longfic, Bloom Within Us, and wrote it because it's the sort of thing I'd want to read. It's currently in progress, and I took a break from writing due to a family emergency, but I'm back at it and hope to start regular posting within a month.
uhhhh so I think I'll have to make my Momiji headcanons another post (hopefully tomorrow) because this got long! 😅 Thank you again for asking!

Tohru Adachi x Fem Reader SMUT
As terrible as it sounds, I've come to find after watching the Persona 4 show and seeing bits of the game, Adachi has become one of my many guilty pleasures *I'm a low key simp lol* which means smut time. The premise of this oneshot takes place before the events of the game. The reader moved to Inaba and is Adachi's nextdoor neighbor. He's always very sweet, helpful, and just an overall good friend. But after a night of drinking with him and Dojima, he shows his true colors. This shit gets kinda dark so reader beware, also it's a long one. Minors this definitely is not for you, please walk away. Enjoy my dears.
WARNINGS: 18+, MINORS DNI. Mentions of murder (not spoilers), mentions of previous sexual encounters, drinking, physical flirtation/touching, jealousy, dubcon, possessiveness, HEAVY degrading, manhandling, neck gripping/light choking, control kink, oral (m receiving), slight bondage, inappropriate use of the "L" word, Adachi kinda being an unhinged jerk, unprotected sex (p in v), rough sex, overstimulation, creampie, friendly neighbors to purely sexual partners.
You casually made your way down the street to your home after a long day of working at the local coffee shop. It had been a steady day, seeing all your regular customers for their morning coffee, trying to keep up with the busy lunch hour, and students coming in during the afternoon to hang out after school. There wasn't much else to do in Inaba, being as small and rural as it was. People would entertain themselves by going to the local shops on a daily, and whenever there was event you'd expect everyone you knew to be there. That was something you learned quickly when you first moved to Inaba over a year ago, not knowing to the full extent of how rural it truly was at the time. You moved from a more populated area where you had more than enough options to keep you entertained. Arcades, shopping malls, restaurants, and a sleuth of pubs.
But when you moved you were met with a beautiful countryside that went on for miles, there was a forest where you could camp out, a beautiful river that was just on the outskirts of town, and a friendly community. But it was lacking in what you were used to, just a few local shops, a traditional inn, and a Junes. Not that it was a terrible thing, you chose to move away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You wanted to live in a more peaceful, reserved area where you could focus on yourself and pursue being a better person overall. Something quiet and simple would be a good change of pace, so you thought anyways.
The first few months were the hardest, with the community being so close-knit, it was hard to make friends. You weren't outcasted, but everyone seemed to have a group of people they hung out with, and they weren't looking to expand it any further. The one person who seemed to really want to connect with you when you first arrived was your neighbor. His name was Tohru Adachi, a lower ranked detective for the Inaba police force. He was a very plain looking man, on the thinner side, in his late twenties, with dark hair and a kind face. The first few days after moving in he introduced himself and offered to help you get moved in and settle. Seeing that no one else was offering, you graciously accepted and the two of you quickly became aquatinted with one another.
Once you were able to land a job at the coffee shop, you found out it was his and his superior, Ryotaro Dojima, favorite spot for downtime when they weren't stuck in the office or out on a case. The three of you became very close and would spend a good bit of your time together. Whether it was Adachi stopping in after work for a cup of tea, or the three of you went out for supper, or spending your breaks with them at the shop, it seemed you and those men were inseparable. You and Adachi especially. Although he was shy at first, often tripping over his words, chuckling nervously, and his face a flushed mess. You actually found it to be very endearing at the time. But he gradually grew comfortable and calm. You were confident when you told others he was your best friend. In fact your colleagues would pick on the two of you when they saw you together, saying how you two should get a room. You tried not to let it bother you, but you were only human. You didn't look at your friendship as anything more than the two of you having a good connection, it wasn't about sex or anything beyond that at time, and you were more than sure Adachi felt the same way. He would reassure you everytime comments like that were made, telling you not to worry about them and that they were just a bunch of bitches.
The months pressed on, you worked, spent time with the boys, explored the sights of Inaba, and made a few more friends along the way. But you felt yourself longing for something more, something physical. You never went out looking for it though, nor did you ever insinuate anything to any of your friends. Not wanting to make things weird or awkward, you just pushed the longing down and carried on, but it was more obvious then you realized. The prolonged hugs you gave to the boys when you'd see them, lingering touches of admiration when you'd comfort them after a long, hard day of work, and the look of need hiding behind your soft eyes. Dojima, seemly not interested in any kind of sexual relationship with you, ignored those signs and treated you as he always had. Adachi however, found it hard to control himself and the urges to fulfill your needs. He wanted to reciprocate the touches you left, to satisfy your every need, and have you becoming undone beneath him. But like you, he pushed it down. He pushed it down as much as he possibly could, until he couldn't anymore. There were a few nights where he'd come over to visit, and the two of you broke down for each other, turning those visits into spending the night. It wasn't anything miraculously special, just a friend helping a friend. You both agreed that it wouldn't be an ongoing occurrence and that you didn't want it to affect your friendship, so you kept visits like that as scarce as possible. When they did happen, the two of you did what you had to do, and he'd be gone by morning as if it never happened. And things went back to normal after that, nothing more, nothing less.
You approached your home hastily as rain clouds quickly formed above you. The forecast said it was supposed to rain but not until later on that afternoon. Pulling out your keys and opening the door you made your way inside. Taking off your shoes and hanging up your jacket, purse, and apron, you sighed a sigh of relief. You made your way to the bathroom and prepped yourself for a shower. Removing your sweaty work clothes and throwing them in the hamper next to the bathroom room door, you stepped into the shower and turned the faucets. Letting the hot water hit your body with ease, you grabbed your loofah, squirted some tropical scented soap into it, and began washing your body. Letting the loofah lightly scrub at your skin you thought to yourself what the plan would be for that evening. You assumed you were probably going to spend it alone, considering the boys had been pulling late night shifts the last few weeks. The last time you saw them was a week or so ago at the shop, both beaten down from the lack of sleep and frustration of the case slowly going cold. They didn't give you any major details of the investigation so they wouldn't have you worried, just that there had been a homicide towards the edge of town. You found out more from news sources, being the nosy little thing you were. You found out the victim was business man, he wasn't a local from what the reports said. His car, along with his body, had been found on the side of the road by a few highschool kids who were going to the river. He'd been beaten to death with his own tire iron, they thought the motive might have been money, but they didn't have much to go off of other than speculation. No fingerprints, foot or tire tracks, nothing. Cases like that always seemed to really piss off Dojima, and he normally took it out on his subordinate. It was awfully common for him to do that, Adachi had always been an easy target for Dojima ever since they started working together. You felt bad for the poor guy, being constantly picked on and even belittled at at times. You'd find yourself telling Dojima to ease up on Adachi and let him try to be more independent. He'd never listen to you though, it was very much a 'in one ear and out the other' situation. Switching your train of thought back to what you were going to do that evening, you rinsed off the soapy suds and proceeded to wash out your hair. Humming to yourselves quietly as you massaged the soap into your scalp. Indecisiveness plagued your mind, not wanting to make any definitive choice in case you got invited to go do something later on. You finished out your shower and followed it with your after shower routine, then putting on some house clothes, which were a pair of jogging shorts and a loose t-shirt. Making yourself a small snack, checking your phone for any messages, and popping in a movie, you settled in and on your couch for the afternoon.
Before you knew it, the hours passed and dusk fell upon the little town. The rain had started some time ago and the rhythmatic pitter patter of the raindrops on your roof, as well as watching the light rain itself, caused you to doze off. You weren't asleep long though as the vibration of your phone against the coffee table stirred you awake. Snatching it quickly, you saw the caller ID; Adachi. You answered,
"Hey man," you said groggily trying to wake yourself up a little more. You heard some shuffling and the gruff voice of Dojima in the background.
"Hey Y/N, I didn't wake you did I," he asked worriedly. You smiled to yourself at his concern for you.
"No no, I was just dozing off a little, nothing to worry about," you said standing up from the plush cushion and began pacing the room.
"Oh good, I was afraid I was interrupting your beauty rest," he said in an amused tone. You gave a quiet chuckle in response to his corny joke.
"No, I'll get plenty of that tonight. I was just sitting down for bit after work and the rain made me sleepy. But that's not important. So what do I owe the pleasure of hearing that lovely voice of yours," you asked in sarcastic tone. But you had to admit everytime you heard his voice it was like a shot to the heart. You really liked him a lot, probably more than you should've, but you set your boundaries and you didn't want to hold him down from his career. Besides the friends with occasional benefits worked out well enough for the both of you. You heard his voice hitch in the back of his throat as he spoke,
"Oh well Dojima wanted me to let you know he invited us to his place for drinks tonight as a way to try to decompress from the case," he stated in disappointment. You could hear Dojima say something to him in the background but couldn't make out anything other than 'sorry sir' from Adachi. You quickly thought it over, seeing them would be nice, but drinking a bunch would not be the best idea because you had to work the next day. But you figured it wouldn't hurt to go over for a few hours, maybe cook up a hot meal for everyone and catch up.
"Yeah sounds good. I'll make us all up some beef bowl. I won't say too long though, only because I have to work tomorrow," you told him blatantly. He sighed slightly under his breath, but perked right back up,
"Alrighty sounds good to us. I'll pick you up in about 15 if thats alright?"
"Yeah sounds good. See you in 15." You hung up the phone and quickly made you way to your bedroom. You went to the vanity and quickly spruced yourself up a little, you brushed out your hair and put on some mascara just to make yourself look more presentable. You stayed in youy house closes, seeing as you were just hanging out anyways, you might as well stay comfortable. Walking to the kitchen you sat in one of your wooden chairs and waited for the remainder of the time, playing around on your phone.
There was a knock on your door, you jumped slightly in excitement as you rushed to open it. Waiting on the other side was Adachi, wearing his normal suit and a slightly crooked, scarlet red tie with a light yellow poncho, but no umbrella. His face lit up when he saw you, though his smile couldn't hide the disheveled look he carried. You could tell he hadn't had a night of proper sleep in days from the case they were on, and with Dojima constantly on him, it was safe to assume that wasn't helping either. He had a bag in his hand, probably the supplies for beef bowl you planned to make later on.
"Hey, would you like to come in and out of the rain" you kindly asked him as you gave him a quick hug. He hugged back,
"Yeah, thank you." The two of you made small talk for a little bit before leaving your home and making your way to his car. Sharing your umbrella with him, he asked how your day was. You told him it was just like any other day. You asked him about the case and how it was going, he told you it seemed to be headed in a good direction and that they had some solid leads, be he couldn't go into any further detail. You both got into his car and drove in the direction to Dojimas.
...
Later into the evening at Dojima's you had made them a traditional beef bowl dish, with their help of course. They had quite a few drinks not too long after you all ate, while you stuck to your one glass. Nanako was visiting with a friend for a few hours, so it was just the three of you, not sure of when she'd be back you saved her a bowl just in case. You all talked very casually for the first few hours, talking about all the drama from coworkers at the coffee shop and how things were at the station. They both talked about how the case seemed to be headed in the right direction but they weren't gonna get their hopes up too high.
Dojima had more than his fair share of booze when 9:00 rolled around. He was a blabbering, red mess, talking about how he wished life was easier and how much he hated being a detective. It wasn't that type of thing that bothered you though, what bothered you was that he was being way more physical with you than ever. You sat the in the middle of the two of them and Dojima's hand found it's way around your shoulder, waist, and eventually your thighs. His hand gently caressing the front of them, sometimes drawing circles with his thumb. He even told you how cute he thought you were when Adachi briefly left the room. You didn't say anything though, knowing it was just his repressed thoughts and need of physical contact. You patted his hand as a hint to try get him to stop. He didn't get it though and his hand moved further up and closer to your inner thigh. His other hand snaking around your waist as he brought his face closer to yours. His breath reeking of whiskey as you wriggled away, looking over to Adachi, who was sitting in the corner with his bottle. He was uncomfortable, it may not have showed on his face, but you could see it in his eyes. This wasn't the impression you wanted to make, you loved Dojima dearly as a friend, but already having something kinda sorta established with his partner, you didn't need to make things complicated by bringing him into the mix of it all. You abruptly stood up getting out of Dojima's grasp. You took a shallow breath and looked at Adachi,
"I'm gonna go get a start on those dishes, " you said as an excuse to get yourself out of the room and away from that situation. Adachi's eyes never left your form as you disappeared into the kitchen. You filled the sink with soapy water and let the bowls, utensils, and frying pan soak for a few minutes then began the cleaning process. You scrubbed, rinsed and set everything in the drying rack. When you finished up you heard someone stumbling into the kitchen, you groaned disappointingly to yourself when you heard his slurred voice,
"Hey there kiddo, why did you get up in such a hurry," he asked as he struggled to walk over towards you,
"I needed to clean up these dishes," you said making little eye contact. He came up to you and lightly touched your cheek,
"You're a good kid Y/N. Someday you're gonna make an amazing wife," he hiccuped as he leaned his body into you for a hug. He wrapped his arms around you and for being drunk his grip was very tight,
"Thank you Dojima," you said and you hugged him back. You knew he meant well and that he wasn't trying to be weird, at least you thought that was the case. The man hadn't been touched in any way since his wife died, that you knew of anyways. And you weren't about to deny the man a little bit of physical connection. There was a gentle knock at the door before it opened.
Dojima quickly let go of you and scurried back to the living room, it was Nanako. Which meant it was time for you all to head out and Dojima to get some rest. You told Nanako you left her a bowl of supper in the fridge if she wanted it and offered to help her with anything if she needed it. She gave her thanks to you, but said she was fine and wished you and Adachi goodnight as she helped her father to bed. You and Adachi said goodnight to Dojima, even though he didn't respond to either of you. Adachi grabbed his poncho and took your hand in his as you went outside to his car. The rain was still coming down pretty good, although not too much different from earlier in the day. When you both got in, it was quiet, neither of you saying a word. But from what you could tell he was deadpanned and emotionless, just staring at the windshield watching the rain fall on to the glass. This wasn't normal for him, but you had a pretty good idea why it was coming out in that moment. Guilt flooded into the pit of your stomach as you spoke,
"Adachi, I-"
"Why did you let him touch you like that," he asked. He was very monotoned with a hint of jealousy mixed in. You let your head droop a little and moved your hands into your lap,
"It wasn't anything serious," you said meekly. You took a second to give him a side glance. His hands gripping the steering wheel and harshly turning over the ignition. He put the car in drive and pulled out of the vicinity, speeding off in the direction of your homes.
"Nothing serious?! He wasn't practically on top of you. You might as well just had let him have you right there. Not to mention the way he was looking at you," he rebutted, venom lacing his voice as he spoke. His knuckles were white from gripping the steering wheel so hard. When he mentioned it, you thought a little more about what he was saying. You didn't really look at Dojima while he was touching you, you thought that if you made eye contact it might have progressed even more. Sighing heavily,
"I didn't think it was that big of a deal. He didn't mean anything by it, he's just starved for some physical contact, it doesn't mean it was sexual," you said barley above a whisper so he'd hear you. He scoffed at your response,
"Don't even try to convince me that it was just some friendly touching. You may think he looks at you as just a friend, but let me tell you something Y/N. He's been wanting to fuck you for a while now," he said looking out his window for a moment. The feeling of resentment filling the small space between the two of you. You didn't want to believe what he just said, not once did you get the impression that Dojima wanted any kind of relationship like that with you.
"If that's the case why hasn't he said anything?" The side glance he gave you was terrifying. The anger fuming in his eyes was enough to make you cower back into the seat as far as you could.
"I'm not sure, why don't we turn around and go back to his place so you can ask him," he spat at you in an angry, heavily sarcastic tone. You looked at him with wide eyes and confusion on your face. This behavior was so unlike him, for as long as you'd known him he was always kind and calm. He never struck you as the jealous type when the three of you were together, infact he seemed to be completely ok with the way Dojima acted towards you. He muttered something under his breath that you couldn't make out. Wanting to reassure him you you spoke up,
"It's not like I'm gonna go seeking him out after tonight, an besides with how drunk he was he probably won't even remember what happened," you said looking out your window.
"I'll remember what happened," Adachi said quietly. He didn't wanna drive it home too hard but he'd remember everything. How it was Dojima's hand around your waist, Dojima's fingers running up your soft thighs, how it was Dojima that had the courage to openly flirt with you in front of him. His blood was boiling at the fact that you didn't do anything to stop it either, in Adachi's eyes, you were his and his alone, even if he never said it out loud before. But in the heat of his anger and frustration, something bubbled up from deep within him,
"If anyone should be touching you like, it should be me." Your head snapped back in his direction, completely taken back from his statement. The tone in his voice shifted,
"And only me." The seduction poured off his tongue like honey in those three little words. Those said words going straight between your thighs as he glanced over at you. His once soft grey eyes turned a bright golden yellow, almost as yellow as the poncho he wore. You held your breath. He smirked and looked away from you back towards the road, your houses weren't too far away now, maybe two minutes away or so.
You were afraid, but not in the way you'd expect to be. You weren't afraid of the way he was acting, but the way his actions had an affect on you. His assertiveness and coy attitude aroused you in a way you never felt with him before. Not to say when you had sex that it was bad, just very casual. There was just no real insensitive to it, he would come over, have a drink or two, and take you to the bedroom. And he was always very sweet and gentle with you those handful of times you were together, but what was happening in that moment was pure jealousy which brought out the aggression. And deep down you liked it. You squeezed your thighs together to try and hide your arousal from him, hoping your home would come into view soon.
As soon as you saw your mailbox your heart nearly leaped out of your chest. Hoping you'd be able to get inside and take care of the little problem growing between your legs on your own. Adachi pulled into your driveway and put the car in park, turning off the engine. Your heart stopped dead in your chest before you could even take your seatbelt off. He unbuckled and looked at you,
"Well?"
"Well what?" You were beyond confused at what was happening as you cautiously unbuckled your seatbelt. He chuckled darkly at your obliviousness,
"Aren't we going inside," he asked as he moved his hand over the console and closer to your thigh, the same thigh Dojima caressed earlier that evening. You looked at him, confused at what he was asking.
"We? Adachi you know I have to work in the morning, and you do too," you said trying to sneakily open the door, only to find it locked. Your breath hitched as fear began to flood your body,
"That may be the case, but, I think you owe me something for the whorish performance you put on tonight," he said devilishly as his hand harshly gripped your thigh. A surprised but pleasure filled gasp erupted from you,
"Adachi please I-"
"You what? Want me to fuck you right here in the car," his breath low and sinister as his grip loosened and ran up your thigh. But unlike Dojima, Adachi had an affect on you. Your breath was heavy as you did your best to hold back the moans wanting to escape your lungs. You tried to hide how much his touch made you melt, but it wasn't working,
"You like this don't you Y/N? You like that I treat you so roughly. If not, just tell me to stop, even though we both know you don't want me to." He was right, you didn't want him to stop, but your better judgement told you it wasn't right.
You squirmed under his touch as his fingers moved dangerously close the heat between your thighs, digging his fingertips into the soft flesh. All of this was so sudden, it was like seeing you being imitate with someone else flipped a switch in him that completely turned his personality around. You shivered ad he left little circles on your flushed skin with his index finger,
"Judging by the way your body's reacting, I'd have to say you're really enjoying this, aren't you slut" he chuckled deeply as his hand left your thigh. Those words had your heart pounding against your ribcage, you didn't want to admit it, but you found all of this new behavior from him extremely hot. You let out a few pants and caught your breath, your thighs squeezed together tighter than they've ever been. Your face was a deep crimson as you faced him. His eyes glowing and an cocky grin spread across his face,
"Look at you, you're already so flustered, and I haven't even really touched you yet," he said bringing his hand to your chin and roughly kissing you. After that, all your better judgement faded away as you kissed him back. But it wasn't a gentle kiss, it was rough, sloppy and full of lust. He lightly bit at your lower lip, making you gasp. He took his opportunity and shoved his tongue into your mouth and down your throat. You let out a high pitched moan as your body relaxed. His tongue dominated yours as your vision began to get hazy from the lust growing within your core and lack of oxygen. He quickly pulled away, leaving a thin string of saliva connecting the two of you. As you took a few breaths once again he opened the divers side door, closed it, and walked over to your side. He opened the door and leaned down, whispering in your ear,
"Why dont you show me how much of a slut you really are Y/N," his breath hot against your ear. He took your hand and pulled you up from the seat of the vehicle, slamming the door behind him. He rushed up the cobblestone walkway and to the front door of your home,
"Open it," he said anxiously. You could tell he was eager to get inside. You rummaged through your purse for your keys and opened to door. He rushed past you as he grabbed on to your arm dragging you behind him. You barely had a chance to close the door before he pulled you through the darkness of your home and to your room. He turned the lights on and pushed you on to the bed, your body falling against the cushioned mattress with a soft thud. He threw off his poncho and shoes, tossing them aside into the corner. He stood at the edge of the bed looking at you with half lidded, lustful eyes,
"Why don't you be a good little whore for me and strip." You felt the heat rise in your body at the thought of stripping for him like this. He'd seen you nude before, but the stripping was just an afterthought. You began to pull off you t-shirt when he said,
"Slowly," the same cocky grin on his face from before. You began to take it slower, putting some sensuality in it as well. After removing your shirt and shoes you teased the hem of your shorts before slowly pulling them down over your legs. Leaving you in your underwear. You hesitated for a few moments before looking at Adachi,
"Did I tell you to stop?" You shook your head.
"Then keep going," he said sternly. You unclipped your bra and let it fall off your shoulder before tossing it to the side. Hesitating again before taking off your panties,
"If you stop one more time, Im going to have to punish you like the whore you are. Do you understand?" His voice never faltering in his threat. You quickly nodded as you finished stripping down for him, leaving you naked and vulnerable. His breath hitched at the sight of you. Your cheeks flushed, breath heavy, and uncertainty in your eyes, it made his cock twitch with anticipation of ravaging you mercilessly. Claiming you in a way he hadn't before. He motioned you to come closer to him, which you did. His hand traced down your cheek before roughly gabbing your jaw, a pained groan leaving your throat.
"Tell me Y/N, who do you belong to?" His eyes burned into yours waiting for a response.
"You, Adachi," you said looking away in embarrassment. His grip tightened on your jaw,
"Fucking look me in the eyes and tell me who you belong to bitch." Your eyes met with his again.
"I belong to you Tohru." He let out a satisfied grumble after hearing his first name falling off your tongue. He let go of your jaw harshly while chuckling. His hands moved to the clear bulge in his pants, running his fingers over the outline before slowly unzipping his trousers. He pulled his cock out of his boxers and through the fly of his pants, giving it a few stokes. He was a lot bigger than you expected him to be when you first had sex, not that you were complaining, you would just forget sometimes at how big he was. The tip a light pink color, veins protruding just beneath the skin of the shaft, you wanted to look away from the embarrassment you felt, but you knew better. His hand coming into contact with a handful of your hair brought your attention back to him,
"It's not gonna suck itself," he said as he forced your mouth down on his cock. You gagged as he forced his way entire member down into the back of your throat. He gave you a long, strained groan as he began a rough, steady pace. His grip on your hair tightened as he rammed his cock in and out of your mouth. One of your hands wandered to try to get him to slow down and be a little more gentle, but his free hand grabbed yours and gave it a squeeze,
"Don't you try and fight back, I'll will use you how I see fit, do you understand whore?" You looked at him as his pace quickened, pleasured moans spilling out of him as he fucked your throat. You held back your gags as best you could, tears forming at the corners of your eyes from the force behind his thrusts. The thrusts were slowly becoming sloppy as he was losing control, he muttered some curses under his breath. You looked up at him with your half lidded eyes as best you could as he his thrust got sloppier,
"That's right, look at me while I fuck your throat you dirty little slut," he gasped out. His breath hitched and he moaned loudly as he unloaded into the back of your throat. You choked on the slaty substance, needing to take a breath.
"Swallow it," he gritted between his teeth. You did your best to take all you could, although a good bit dribbled out on to your chin. He pulled out of your mouth and released the grip on your hair, you coughed harshly as you took a few deep breaths and wiping away the mixture of drool and cum. Before your could gather your composer, he pulled you up forcefully and pushed you further back on the bed by your pillows. He began to slowly and seductively remove his tie. Taking your wrists together and bringing them up to the headboard as he tied them up with the scarlet fabric. He made sure that it was tight and secure so that you wouldn't be able to move. Running his cold fingers down your wrists, arms, and then your neck. His eyes still the bright Golden color as he looked you in the eyes, for a split second you could see the softness in him, a small soft smile fell on his lips. But in the blink of an eye it was gone and his grip tightened on your neck. You gasped in fear as he came closer to your face.
"You look so fucking good like this, tied up and trembling under me with my hand around your throat. You're such a dirty little bitch aren't you" he whispered to you as his free hand traveled to your chest. He tweaked your hardened nipples, making your squeal and squirm under him. He gave the same treatment to the other, pinching and pulling harshly. The reaction he got out of you was trance inducing, the way your face heated up and how you gave him loud moans of pain and pleasure. His grip now aggressive enough to choke you as he took his hand away from your breasts. His free hand caressed your face as he lightly choked you,
"I can't wait to fuck you so hard you can't get up after," he said as he took his hand away from your face. He took a step back, removing his and from your neck and taking in the sight before him. He removed his pants, boxers, and suit coat, leaving him in his undershirt which he unbuttoned. He chuckled once more, crawling on top of you. His cock harder than before as he teased at your very wet entrance. The tip of his cock brushing your your clit swiftly, making you moan tenderly.
"So sensitive" he teased. Before you could respond he roughly, fully sheathed himself inside of you. He didn't let you adjust to him though as he kept going in fully. You yelped repeatedly as mix of pain and pleasure flooded your body, and though it was painful not being able to adjust fully at the start, but after a minute or two the pain subsided. Adachi looked deeply into your eyes once again as he took your legs and pushed them apart. The look he gave you was pure, unadulterated lust. It shook you to your core as he squeezed your thighs to keep them spread apart, so hard you were sure he'd leave bruises. His grip combined with his rough pace made you moan and plead for him,
"God you're such a disgusting little whore, taking all of my cock in each thrust, just as you should," he groaned sinfully. You looked anywhere you could but his face, embarrassment and arousal worn all in one blatantly on your face. His words made your body quiver, everytime he degraded you it was a rush that you couldn't explain. You knew you shouldn't like it, but being called such profanities from him made you feel special in a sick way. He took a hand away from your thigh, relief washing over it from being held in place for as long as it was, only to be met with his harsh force on your jaw. He held you in place so he could keep your eyes on his,
"Look at me," his voice stern. You nodded lightly as you watched his face contort in pleasure as he fucked you as hard as he possibly could.
"All you're good for is my pleasure. You're just my sweet little cock sleeve huh? Answer me slut," he inquired, almost as if he was begging for it. You tried your best not to let your feverish moans drown out your answer, you felt you orgasm coming on quicker than you expected to,
"Yes Tohru, I'm just your little cock sleeve," you squealed. Your walls spasmed around his cock as you came at your own words.
"Cumming already? Don't think I'm gonna stop now just because your slutty self decided to cum without my permission," he said as he took his other hand off your remaining thigh,
"Keep them spread." His hand moved to your clit and slowly began to rub the sensitive nub. You screamed in response to his actions, with the pace at which he was pounding and touching you knew he would only get faster. You wouldn't last. He let a satisfied groan slip from him as you began to unravel, sweat beads forming on your skin, your moans were constant and desperate. His fingers began to rub more harshly, and you felt another orgasm approaching, he could tell by the look in your eyes it was coming,
"You can cum, and keep cumming you dirty, disgusting whore." And that's exactly what you did. You came on is cock over and over again until it hurt. Your wrist pulled harshly against his tie, hard enough that it would leave markings. You wanted to push him off so you could recuperate and catch your breath, but he wasn't having that. Tears forming in your eyes and falling down your face as the overstimulation was too much for you to handle. At that point Adachi was pounding you mercilessly,
"That's right, cry for me you stupid whore. Cry for me while you cum all of my cock. You've soaked my cock entirely, you dirty bitch. Fuck you keep this up I just might cum for you, would you you like that? Huh?" You nodded as your body shook uncontrollably from the constant orgasming. But you were no longer moaning in pleasure at that point. You were moaning and squealing in discomfort and full, fat tears rolled down your cheeks and on to Adachi's fingers. His thrusts became erratic and sloppy, he was close,
"Tell me Tohru," you cried out. He looked at you with confusion across his lust filled face. You wanted him to finish selfishly so you could finally feel some relief.
"Tell me how I'm a terrible whore. And how much you hate me for it. Tell Tohru!"
"No, I love you my dirty little slut." His statement, through all your discomfort, like many he had said to you that evening, threw you off.
"I love that you're my whore. And to show how much I appreciate my whore, I'm gonna cum inside you," he said, his breath hitching. His pace still as fast and rough, but sloppier than ever. He was so so close,
"Please Tohru cum inside me," you cried and pleaded to him. His groans began to get more frequent after those words left your swollen lips. He gave a few more sloppy thrusts before uttering,
"Fuck I'm gonna cum," he moaned. You moaned loudly with him as you felt his cock twitch inside you and he stopped rubbing your red, overly sensitive nub. His hot, thick cum spurted out and painted your walls white, and what couldn't fit gushed out of you.
"Take it. Take it all, whore," he sighed taking a breath of relief as he finished out his high. He pulled out of you, letting the mixture of both your fluids flow out of you. He reached over you and untied your wrists, letting them fall gently to the bed. You took a few sighs of relief as you pulled yourself up and walked to the bathroom to grab a clean cloth to wipe yourself down. You looked in the mirror when you turned the light on, your face tear stained and light bruises began to form on your neck, wrists, and thighs. You cleaned up and dragged yourself back to your room, cloth in hand for Adachi. But by the you got back he'd already put most of his clothes back on and sat on the edge of the bed waiting for you. The soft, calm aura returned to him once again.
"Adachi?" You looked at him as your eyes began to get heavy and it was getting more difficult to stand up. Stumbling into the bed, Adachi stood up and tucked you in, giving you a light kiss on the forehead before leaving.
"I always knew you were a little whore," he chuckled half jokingly. You lightly chuckled with him, feeling yourself drift away.
"I love you Adachi." He gave a 'hm' in response.
"Goodnight Y/N." He rubbed your head where he gripped it earlier that night before getting up, turning the light off, and leaving you to sleep by yourself. You sighed, knowing you'd have have to call in tomorrow due to the bruising and struggle to walk. But it was alright, you go to spend the evening with him, and that's all that mattered to you.

FULL EPISODE: Kevin 11 ⌚️ Ben 10 ⌚️ Cartoon Network
@the-ravenclaw-werewolf
Here are a few questions I would like to ask you about The 40′s reaction to this Ben 10 episode. (Take your time with this one)
How do you think The 40 would react to:
- Ben’s initial attempt to play the Pre-release version of the new Sumo Slammers video game by saying that he’s a “beta tester”, only for the security guard to be unconvinced.
- Ben obviously ignores his grandfather’s warning of using the Omnitrix to sneak into the room to play the video game only to lack the foresight that he’ll be caught if the security guard hears the noises coming from the room (which is what happened).
- Ben being unremorseful of the fact that he got him, his grandpa, and his cousin kicked out of the hotel by saying it’s “no big deal” despite losing possibly over $350 (under ¥50,000 according to the 2023 converter), since it was a 4-star hotel in New York; all because he wanted to play a video game that hasn’t been out yet.
- Adding onto the above question; the fact that Ben tries to justify his misuse of the Omnitrix by stating that [he] used the watch for good over 100 times and why can’t he just use it for his own benefit for once, only for Grandpa Max to criticize that mindset; “it’s not about how many times you use it, it’s how you use it.” To my interpretation, Max was warning Ben of the dangers of developing a slippery slope regarding power misuse from the Omnitrix (e.g. like a person trying to limit themselves on the use of something addictive only to continually abuse it to the point there’s no more restraint).
- Ben being grounded by Grandpa Max from being allowed to enjoy any Super Slammer stuff for two weeks, with Ben calling out the unfairness of it only for Grandpa Max to retort that it’s also unfair that they got booted out of a 4-star hotel that he already paid for (especially with the implicitly of why they got booted out in the first place), with Ben giving a lame retort that Max should just take it out of his allowance (even he doesn’t get an allowance)
- Ben escalates the argument to the point where he lashes out by telling Grandpa Max that he can’t tell him what to do all the time since it’s his summer time to enjoy life and that he isn’t his father to both Grandpa Max and Gwen’s shock. Especially the reactions of the members of The 40 who suffer from parental abuse to where if they speak out of turn even just a little it’ll warrant big trouble (i.e. Nagisa, Zuko, Killua, etc.) and those who are estranged from their parents/grandparents and/or lack them (i.e. Edward, Senku, Legoshi, Tohru, etc.). (Also, given the majority of the characters being Japanese or the fantasy equivalent, “honor thy parent” is a huge deal along with having the utmost quiet respect for authority figures regardless of their true feelings in East Asian cultures)
- The obvious emotional hurt that Grandpa Max felt from Ben saying that he isn’t his dad (as seen where he’s stammering afterward that if he was his dad) and Ben being completely unrepentant of it because he only cared for his own feelings.
- Seeing Ben throwing a temper tantrum and having the gall to believe that he’s being unfairly punished by his grandfather for simply wanting to play a video game while conveniently forgetting that 1) he ignored the security guard’s warning that he isn’t allowed to play and Grandpa Max’s warning to not sneak in to play the videogame and misuse the Omnitrix for an illegal activity, 2) got him, his grandfather, and cousin kick out of the 4-star hotel that Max had already paid for (and it’s definitely a lot given it’s for a one night stay at a 4-star hotel in New York), and 3) finally straight-up tells his grandfather that he isn’t his dad in a fit of rage despite Grandpa Max being his paternal grandfather and his current legal guardian during the summer trip.
- Seeing Ben then blowing off to the arcade while telling Gwen that he “doesn’t speak dweeb” when she tries to stop him, while Ben and Gwen do have their typical squabbles, that moment should be considered mean-spirited after the argument.
- After witnessing Ben’s horrible behavior during and after the argument and then him taking off to the point that some members of The 40 would lose their patience and seriously considering harming a 10-year-old.
- Ben meeting Kevin Levin for the first time and The 40 getting a bad vibe of him, especially when the latter displays his powers by forcing an arcade machine to spill out tokens.
- Seeing Ben getting his ass knocked down by one of the gangsters when the latter tries to defend Kevin, despite his lashing out at Grandpa Max not long before.
- Learning of Kevin’s description of his powers to absorb energy (from anything) and dish it back out when he has to...or wants to.
- Seeing Kevin living on his own in an abandoned subway station hearing Kevin’s blasé attitude explaining to Ben that his parents were long gone as they weren’t too thrilled to have a freak for a son, and his adding that that means he doesn’t have to answer to anybody. And Ben’s reply that it sounds good to him.
- Thinking that while Kevin being a bit smarter than he lets on and easy-going behavior in regards to his parental abandonment despite being 11-years-old can be chalk up to a form of psychological defense mechanism, The 40 would still think that there might be more to the backstory what Kevin revealed to Ben, either willing, unwilling, or a combination of both as his sociopathic tendencies are seen later in the episode.
- Seeing Ben and Kevin bond over not wanting to listen to authority figures and the obvious toxicity of enabling each other’s worse aspects. Leading to...
- Seeing Ben and Kevin sneaking into a warehouse at night and trying to steal the new Sumo Slammers video game only to have to run when security comes knocking
- Seeing Kevin getting suspiciously focused on the Omitrix after hearing Ben’s mention of it “sending out a special energy” upon activation, and him immediately proposing a partnership of doing crime together with Ben happily accepting.
- Watching the scene goes to Grandpa Max and Gwen seeing how much Ben is going to be in for it with Max being very pissed at Ben’s worst stunt yet and Gwen telling herself that she should be enjoying Ben’s upcoming misfortune with their Grandpa but can’t bring herself to.
- Seeing Kevin and Ben’s first stint as partners-in-crime by causing a train collision to steal money, only for Ben to point out that 100 innocent people will die with Kevin nonchalantly replying, “No pain, no gain”.
- Seeing Kevin making it clear that he won’t reconsider his plan and Ben coming to an epiphany of his own selfishness and trying to stop Kevin one way or another.
- Seeing Kevin getting the drop on Heatblast and absorbing the Omnitrix’s energy and turning into a half-Pyronite hybrid and him declaring his motive of making anyone who called him a freak pay.
- Seeing Kevin absorbing Four-Arms DNA and becoming a 3/4 Tetramand hybrid, with him and Ben fighting evenly for a while.
- Four-Arms nearly timing out and unleashing a brutal beatdown on Tetramand Kevin which causes the latter to start “crying uncle” despite enjoying the brawl between them beforehand.
- Seeing Tetramand Kevin gets surprisingly remorseful from the power high and when Ben tries to help him, Kevin reveals that he was faking his remorse and calling out Ben for naivete while trying to pry the Omnitrix off only for the watch to send a feedback loop to defend itself.
- Seeing Ben genuinely apologizes to Grandpa Max for everything that happened in the episode and the latter solemnly accepting it as they’re family and nothing will ever change that. Though Grandpa Max does tell Ben that his trust is something he has to earn back, which Ben quietly accepts as again, he did go too far with him stating that Grandpa Max isn’t his dad and did commit a crime with Kevin by trying to steal the new Sumo Slammers video game.
- Seeing Kevin plotting his revenge story and showcasing that he did absorb the 10 alien DNA from the Omnitrix.
- On a side note, the absurdity of the Sumo Slammers videogame being so important to the point that a security guard has the Tennyson Family banned from the hotel due to Ben sneaking in to play it without a pass and warranted a SWAT team in response to Kevin and Ben breaking into a warehouse to steal a few pre-release copies.

貴方の視線感じて シャツのボタン 弾けて 私のインスタを眺めて 貴方のため息聞こえて ♡
So, where is he?
The chime of the automated doors resounded, following it was the sound of them sliding open. You had stepped inside the store. As you did so, your polished heels clicked against the tile. An aesthetically pleasing sound to the ears.
Even at the entrance, you were met with the refreshing scents of fresh fruits and other fancy products. A fitting atmosphere for a well received everything store. Praising it almost made you feel guilty, for the crippling shopping district across the way. It was on its last legs, and here you were complimenting its multimillion dollar competitor. Though you held pity for those family-run businesses, you had to admit the hyperstore was nice and convenient for the quiet town. After all, you did almost all your shopping at the same superstore back in S-City, so you held a bit of a bias.
Upon entering the place, you turned the corner and spotted a familiar face in the corner of the entrance, residing by the windows and elevators. Found him. It was as if he was trying to hide from you, but judging from your talks, most likely Dojima. It’d make sense to duck instead of a building, especially under the guise of work. Though, is it really a good idea to hide out in the store his partner’s daughter loves to shop at? A charming grin of amusement graced your lips as you approached your fellow coworker.
“An avid shopper of Junes, are you?” You said in a playful tone.
Adachi turned his head at the sound of your voice. Judging from his growing smile and the straightening of his posture, he seemed to light up upon seeing you. Perhaps he was glad you graced him with your presence. “Oh, hey (Y/N).” Chuckling at your remark, he gave you a wry yet kind smile. “You know me, their deals are pretty irresistible.” He joked back.
Following the two uncanny and mysterious murders in Inaba, the police force figured they needed more hands on the strange case. As such, you were transferred out of your bustling city to come to this quiet little town in the countryside. They believed that since this was a unique string of murders and disappearances, they might as well put the best detectives in the country on it. It was astonishing how many of the finest were shoved onto this single job. You even met Shirogane’s kid here, as aloof as she is on the case.
Adachi was another detective that you met while working on it. You already knew Dojima pretty well, but him… not so much. It wasn’t until you were assigned this case that you met, and became acquainted with each other.
Though, a link quickly bloomed between the two of you after you first caught him slacking off. It was at the Junes entrance, when you finally decided to take your break that you ran into him. Adachi begged you not to tell Dojima, and you promised it would be your little secret. After you hit it off, the two of you would occasionally run into each other there. Once you got work done, you’d drop by and check up on him, and spend time chatting.
Your bond grew from there, and you started to grow attached to the guy. While he might not be the type of man you usually take interest in, his mild-mannered, less than average character was admittedly endearing. It was adorable.
Incidentally, it doesn’t appear the attraction was one sided either, as tensions seemingly run high when the two of you interact. You might’ve flirted with him once or twice and he reciprocated it.
“So? Get any work done?” You asked smoothly as you crossed your arms. The facetious smile on your face grew as you curiously watched him. The two of you already knew the answer to that, but it was still entertaining to ask.
“I should be asking you…” He replied with a weary gaze, his eyes glossing over your form. Your composed, elegant demeanor heavily contrasted his rugged one. It’d be a challenge for an onlooker to guess the two of you were in the same field.
Contrary to Adachi, you’ve been hard at work on the case. Where he was coming up short, you were there picking up his slack. It was a painstaking endeavor in his eyes, but you did it with ease, and all with an unwavering, nonchalant disposition. Even Dojima would compliment you ever-so often for the help. You think it would annoy Adachi that a woman was showing him up, especially in a male dominated profession like the police force. Surprisingly though, that wasn’t the case. He had taken a liking to you.
Unlike the cruel Dojima who constantly put him through the ringer, you had always been sweet to Adachi. From being pleasantly cordial in conversation, to looking after him with work or the bullying he received from his partner. Though it was unexpected at first, Adachi saw your kindness as refreshing, like a cool oasis in a scorching desert. Since you were so charming, it was only natural that he often found himself wanting to see you again.
It didn’t help Adachi’s uncontrollably growing feelings that you were pretty. Seriously, it was hard for him to wrap his head around how your occupation was the same as his when you looked like a supermodel. Despite the difference in age, you could probably give Risette a run for her money.
Not to mention how enigmatic you were. All of these things he just described were only surface level. Nobody really knew your past or the intricate workings of your personal life. The mystery was intriguing to almost everyone in the department. How surprising that such a nonchalant woman could be just as mysterious as one of the Shiroganes. To think you two were acquainted was so surreal to him.
Diligent, precocious, and caring… and then on top of that you were a knockout when it came to looks. And you knew how to cook. You were exactly his type, just like he said to Yu Narukami once before in a conversation describing his kind of partner. Well, Adachi didn’t outright say he wanted you, but halfway into his description he realized that it lined up with your traits almost verbatim. It was impossible to deny it anymore. You were his type, and even more stacked on top of that. It was hard to imagine this wasn’t an alternate reality. His ideal girl, somehow, had come along. How on earth did you ever come across each other?
Ever the skeptical nihilist realist, he figured it was too good to be true. A perfect woman such as yourself would’ve had someone by now, because who wouldn’t scoop up a catch like you? To say he was shocked when he learned you were single was an understatement. He was floored, nearly spitting out his coffee when it came up in conversation.
You said you were focused on work, but if the right guy came along, you’d fully devote yourself to treasuring him. While Adachi’s negative experiences with dating and women had him begging to differ, it was slightly intriguing to hear you say that. It was exactly what he wanted.
“...Uh, (Y/N)?” He spoke up, catching your attention. You hummed, confirming you were listening.
“Shouldn’t you be, uh… working?” He asked, raising his brow. Though it might’ve come off as an imposing or awkward question, he genuinely wanted to know. His thoughts wouldn’t leave him be otherwise. “I’m sure you’ve got better things to do right now than talk to me.”
A soft, airy chuckle escaped you, as if his statement was absurd. Your eyes locked with his, and you smiled. “Isn’t it obvious? I like spending time with you. You’re pleasant to be around.” You replied with an honest answer.
Needless to say, Adachi was taken aback by your response. It was awfully sweet, so much so that he thought he heard you wrong at first. “M-Me? Really…?” He blinked in surprise. He studied your expression, trying to search for some sort of deception in your eyes, but he came up empty. You were being sincere.
His self-doubt made your heart flutter. It was amusing, but also cute. Meeting his eyes again, your alluringly warm smile returned. “Of course. I like you, Adachi.” You said simply.
Just as you anticipated, Adachi turned bright red at your sudden declaration. He was so shocked he didn’t know how to react. It’s as if you knew the right words to say to render him flustered. The implications behind your words could always be interpreted as innocent, but knowing the type of woman you were, you said that deliberately to throw him off base.
Alas, amidst his growing garden of feelings, his stubborn cynicism was hellbent on fighting him to the bitter end. It didn’t make any sense. A pretty girl having an interest in him? There’s no way.
“Somehow, I find that hard to believe.” He confessed, against his better judgment. Though he was still smiling kindly, there was a clear reservation in his voice. The man found himself ensnared in a quandary. While he admired your boldness, he was also wary of it. There were too many women out there that took advantage of guys like him, and he wasn’t looking to be used.
That had you blink in surprise. Of all things, you didn’t expect a response like that. Did something happen to him before? A case of rejections, or a bad breakup? It made you curious, and intrigued.
“Is that so…” You hummed, holding your chin. Strangely, you couldn't find yourself being deterred. If anything, that sounded like an invitation. Looking up, your eyes met and you cocked your head about an inch. “How do I prove it to you then, Adachi?”
Prove it? The man was surprised at the challenge you posed to him. While anyone with eyes could see you were playing around, he could also sense a hint of seriousness in entertaining him further. Both of you seemed to be testing the waters now. Dancing around any sort of candid confrontation, beating around the bush for the sake of mind games. Keeping your cards close to your chest, both of you refused to show your hands. How far were either of you willing to go until it came to a direct love confession?
For a moment, he was at a loss for words. Thoughts spurred on by desire, he was already thinking of less than ethical answers to your question. But, he really shouldn’t. If you truly like him, that can wait.
Adachi paused to think, then he straightened himself and stepped an inch closer to you. “Well… you could always hug me.”
Now it was your turn to be caught off guard. With a bemused look, you dropped your arms to your sides. “Hug you…?” You echoed, blinking curiously.
He grinned with a curt nod, as if the jump in bases was completely normal. “Yeah. We’re friends, aren’t we?” He asked, his innocent tone masking his intentions. In a manner of speaking, he had turned your own technique against you. “What better way to prove our friendship than a hug?”
In any other conversation, the both of you would’ve begged to differ. It was a fairly intimate gesture, not something for acquaintances that recently hit the ‘friends’ level. Especially given the context of your amorous exchange. However, that’s precisely what the two of you intended.
“I… I guess you’re right…” You agreed aloud with a pondering expression. Admittedly, you didn’t see your conversation heading in this direction from the start. Thanks to that, you felt your heart pound loudly in your chest every time you looked at him. Resisting temptation was harder than it looked. At this moment, you were on the losing end of the game of sustaining your bravado.
He smiled again, but there was a faint smugness to it. Like a lightning charge, your faint nervousness had invigorated his confidence. So even you had a shy side. It was interesting to him, to say the least. Meanwhile, Adachi’s change took you aback, since you’ve never seen him like this before. “Well then, how about it? A big, warm hug for your good pal Adachi.” He insisted.
You paused for a moment, heart skipping a beat at the predicament you were in. If you weren’t preoccupied with your own shyness, you would’ve laughed at his phrasing. The dynamic was shifting, but you could bring it back. Crossing your arms, your smile returned. The offer was very tempting. “Hmm… but that seems a bit sudden. Maybe if you ask a bit more politely, I will.”
Adachi shot you a look of disbelief. “Ah, come on (Y/N). I thought you wanted to prove yourself. Why do I have to ask for it?” He sighed wearily.
“Asking politely is no fun anyways. I think you should just go ahead and throw yourself at me…” He uttered aloud before pausing. By accident, he let his intrusive thoughts slip. You raised a curious brow.
‘Throw… yourself…?’
And just like that, Adachi’s true thoughts apropos to you were revealed. With little effort too. You couldn’t help but grin smugly at this newfound info. Well now…
His blatant confession was amusing, and while you wanted to entertain the idea, you didn’t want to give yourself to him just yet. That’d be far too easy.
Upon realizing it, he was about to take it back, but then you parted your lips.
“Oh, I’ll throw myself at you… if you ask me to.” You insisted, raising an index finger. “After all, I have to know if you truly desire such a privilege.” Your voice took on a coy yet methodical tone as you teased him.
Adachi chuckled softly upon hearing that. It’s no surprise that you liked to play hard to get. That said, unlike the other women he’s courted in the past, the chase was admittedly pretty fun this time around. He thought about your terms methodically. If that’s the case, and it was clear by now you were into each other, he was more than happy to indulge himself.
“Fine, if you really want me to ask…” He caved in, exhaling before meeting your gaze. The things he did for love… “I’m really craving a hug right now, (Y/N). Please?” He faintly lifted his arms invitingly after asking.
A smile graced your lips, pleased at the small victory. “Of course…!” You said with an innocent beam. You approached him, and securely wrapped your arms around his neck in a loving embrace. The gesture was naturally warm, as if you were supplying your longtime boyfriend of a few years with his daily need of affection.
You drew closer to his ear, dropping your voice to a soft whisper. “That wasn’t so hard, was it?”
“Yeah…” He muttered, your sudden sultry demeanor sending sparks to his lower half. He never could’ve predicted the two of you getting this close. His arms snaked around your waist, while his hands found its place around the small of your back. You certainly proved your devotion right then and there.
It felt so right to have you in his arms. Now that he had you, he couldn’t find a reason to let go. His heart is racing from the proximity, and he feels your soft chest press against his more sturdy one. He felt like he could get lost in your affections.
You drew back slightly, to meet his eyes and rest your closed hands on his chest. “You’re so gorgeous…” Adachi murmured quietly as he studied your features. He couldn’t help himself. The compliment accompanied by the husky dulcet voice made your heart speed up.
After staring at you for what seemed like forever, he couldn’t take it anymore. Fully surrendering to his impulses, he leaned closer to you, his gaze falling to your lips. His heated, amorous actions didn’t go unnoticed by you. You smiled fondly, and grabbed him by his tie. Gently, you tugged him closer and pressed your lips against his.
The two of you were kissing. Your synapses resounded, as if a repressed euphoric sensation was finally released. It felt so right, perfect even. Though his lips were chapped, they were nice against your soft ones.
Adachi’s arms pulled you closer, and held you tight. Having your frame in his arms was heaven to him. Craving the feeling of your lips, he deepened the kiss. He had been waiting for this, and finally his desires were coming true. For a moment, he lost himself, trapped in his thoughts. The only thing present was you and him. His sense of reason seemingly slipped away.
Pleasant shivers ran down your spine as he touched you. You could kiss him for eternity. Melting in his embrace, you continued to explore his mouth. Caught in the moment, your bodies were intertwining. A romantic, impassioned scene you’d only find in movies.
For a split second, you broke away to breathe. Panting, your cheeks were burning sanguine. Adachi’s were the same. He caught his breath, admiring the flushed look on your face. “Oh, (Y/N)…” He crooned softly. Just as he imagined, you tasted divine. Your lips were incredibly sweet, like a sugary dessert. If he’s not careful, he could get addicted. He leaned closer for another kiss.
“Ms. (L/N)? Mr. Adachi…?” A younger boyish sounding voice called out your names. Identifying it, you released Adachi’s tie.
The two of you quickly drew back a safe distance and turned, spotting Yosuke Hanamura staring at the two of you in confusion. What made matters worse was that Nanako and Yu were behind him, and they were just as bewildered.
“What’re you guys doing?” Yosuke asked with a friendly, yet unsure smile. If he didn’t know any better, he could’ve sworn the two of you were doing something strange. The two of you looked dangerously close there.
As for you, you figured the three of them must not have seen you kissing, but they could’ve caught a glimpse of you being extremely close. They could easily draw the conclusion from there.
Adachi let out a strained sigh. “Ah, crap.” He muttered under his breath as he adjusted his suit. Being caught in a public place so obvious was embarrassing. He felt like an idiot. His only saving grace was that it was just them and not Dojima. Standing next to you, he gave the kids a friendly wave. “Oh, hey, guys. We were just chatting.” A nervous smile was on his lips.
Unlike Adachi, regaining your composure was easy. Loosely crossing your arms, you chimed in with a kind smile. Your sunny disposition reverted back instantly. “Yep, we were just discussing cases.”
Just talking? Honestly, Yosuke found that hard to believe, given how it looked. Maybe his eyes were tricking him, but he could’ve sworn something else was going on. He would’ve begged to differ, considering how awfully close the two of you had been a moment ago. Maybe he was just dirty minded, but he had an inkling of what was going on between the two of you. Seriously though, he couldn’t believe it. Adachi with you?! How did he manage that?!
However, Yosuke doesn’t say a word, since Nanako was with them. The teenager had his moments, but he was mindful not to be weird around her. Unaware of the awkwardness protruding the air, the young girl smiled at you. “Hi, Ms. (L/N)!” She’s very fond of you.
You returned her grin and gave a small wave. She’s an adorable kid, and you’ve grown to love her. At this point, you’re like her aunt. Needless to say, the interactions between you two are very heartwarming.
Unfortunately for Adachi, he’s not holding his own against the two boys. Still, he smiled at them. “Nice to see you, kids. How’s it going? Aren’t you studying hard for the exams?” He asked.
Yosuke chuckled nervously with a nod while Yu rolled his eyes. The scene was painfully awkward.
Like Nanako, you feigned ignorance to the awkward situation. By now, you had calmed yourself on the inside to reflect your outward appearance. You were relieved the kids didn’t see anything. But to be fair, you were making out by the Junes elevators, so it’s not like you were trying to be discreet.
“Are you about to do some shopping at Junes?” You asked Nanako with a gentle, almost mother-like tone. The little girl beamed with an excited nod. “Uhuh!” Nanako said. The next time you weren’t busy, she wanted to invite you along.
Your gaze returned to all three of them. “Well, don’t let us hold you up. Have fun~!” You chuckled, sending them off with a sincere smile.
Yu and Nanako said their goodbyes and took off to go inside. Yosuke muttered something along the lines of ‘lucky bastard…!’ and followed them out. And with that, the kids went inside the store, leaving the two of you alone again. Smirking with amusement, you turned to Adachi. Though you covered your mouth, you failed to suppress a small laugh. That was pretty close.
Adachi let out another sigh as he met your eyes. His shoulders went slack. “I don’t think they were fooled.” He confessed. Chances are they’ll be talking about that later with their friends. Though he was embarrassed, there was also something exciting about other people knowing you were with him. In any case… “We should finish our conversation somewhere else…” He suggested, eyeing the doors.
That was for the best. The last thing you’d want was your pleasant talk to be disturbed again. You held your hands behind you. “Lead the way, detective.” With a grin, you replied coyly. You were ready to see where this would go. Adachi felt a rush of heat running down his neck at your coquettish tone, and he guided you out.

actually re: that last reblog, i think you could have a lot of comedy potential with the ex-zodiacs having a basic affinity for their respective animals even after the Curse breaks.
-Tohru finds a stray dog in need of medical attention but can't get close to it bc it's so scared of humans, so she calls Shigure and begs him to help. Shigure ends up driving several hours just to coax the dog into visiting a vet, then has to stay for several more hours bc he's literally the only human being the dog will trust. Kyo is less than happy about this but he can't do anything while the dog is growling at anyone who comes within ten feet of Shigure and itself. Shigure uses this to his advantage and gleefully annoys everyone in earshot.
-Momiji has a similar experience when the class pet (a rabbit) escapes and gets lost in the school. he nobly volunteers to search for it with his "rabbit-whispering powers," but unfortunately finds the rabbit dead after accidentally eating rat poison. Momiji feels so bad that he goes outside and catches a wild hare to replace it. no, Momiji doesn't see a problem with this. yes, the teacher, principal, and local animal control obviously object. it doesn't even fit in the cage.
-pets are a pretty loaded topic in all ex-zodiac households. the kids all go through a phase of begging for a pet, but obviously none of their parents want to regularly look at a physical representation of their old trauma. even people like Hatsuharu or Hatori aren't safe bc if someone like Yuki or Shigure pops in unexpectedly, you don't want them to find your pet mouse or dog staring back at them. i think most of the parents just have a no-pet policy, but i'm sure at least one household ended up going "fuck it" and getting a chinchilla.
-one time Rin got roped into chaperoning the twins' school field trip to a farm, and experienced every horse girl's dream when a ferocious barely tamed horse in the stables decided she was its best friend. cue the horse girl movie cliche montage except Rin fucking hated the attention and refused to pander to any of it. she ended up kicking the horse out of frustration, resulting in a stern lecture from the farmhands and a second (slightly awed) lecture from the teacher. Rin is no longer asked to chaperone field trips.
-Kyo was quickly banned from cat cafes as a teenager for obvious reasons, and to this day he can't convince his old hometown to lift the ban. the other Sohmas use this to their advantage regularly (especially Yuki, who always gets bitten by the cats but thinks it's hilarious to go with Tohru and wave at a fuming Kyo through the window).

Kyo Sohma X Reader: Protective [fruits basket]
Tumblr media
You love your school friends, but one has always been a little more protective than the others.
Even though I’ve been at school since the beginning of the academic year, I’m still not adjusted well with the students. Some students still treat me with disrespect and no remorse. I’m happy to at least have supportive friends like Tohru, her friends, and the Sohma’s; especially Kyo.
For whatever reason, he’s been very protective of me as of late — as weird as it is to put it that way. Truth be told, it does get on my nerves sometimes. His support is appreciated and all, but I can also take care of myself. Though none of this is to say I want him to change. I wouldn’t change my friends at all.
It’s currently the morning of the school day. I’m putting away my shoes in my locker when Kyo, Tohru, and Yuki walk up to meet me. Yuki gives me a wave, partnered  with a "Good Morning" and Tohru says a quick hello in passing. The two of them head to class, though Kyo hangs behind with me.
"So, Kyo, How's your morning been so far?" I ask him. He scratches the back of his head.
"Annoying. Yucky Yuki's already ticked me off," he says.
"Oh, is that a new record? I’m sure he’s done worse sooner," I say sarcastically.
"Haha," he feigns an unenthusiastic laugh. "What about you? No one's tried to mess with you yet, have they?"
"Kyo, I can handle myself. Besides, no one gets violent. Just a couple of crude words,"
"I want to make sure you're safe,"
"I know, Kyo. Thanks,"I say, resting my hand against his shoulder. "C'mon. Let's get to class,”
The two of us start our trek to class. I noticed Kyo trying to hold my things for me, and while I appreciate the gesture, I tell him I can take care of things myself. We arrive at the room well before homeroom starts and claim seats with Tohru, Uo, Hana, and Yuki. Of course when the teacher actually gets here we’ll have to move to our assigned seats for the whole day, but for now some light chit-chat should be fine.
“Hey, you guys. Where's Yuki?” I ask, noticing his absence.
“He had some prince business to attend to. He’ll show up later,” Uo explains.
“I hope he’s doing alright,” Tohru says.
“Me too. He didn’t seem to want the student council position to begin with, much less to be the president. I hope he knows if he’s struggling he can come to us. That goes for all of you, as well,” I say.
“He’ll be fine. He was practically born for the role,” Kyo says, rolling his eyes. This, of course, earns him a quick jab to the ribs, courtesy of myself. Our chatting continues as the class waits for things to begin. For some reason, I thought it would be a great idea to drink a huge can of an unhealthy, sugar-filled beverage first thing in the morning, and I start to regret it as I feel a strong need to pee.
“So close to class? Excuse me guys, I’m going to use the restroom quickly,”
*
Yuki walks into the room just as class is about to begin, but sees you are nowhere in sight.
“Good morning everyone. Where’s Y/n? Didn’t she come to class?” Yuki asks before finding his seat.
“Now that you say that, it has been a while since she went to use the bathroom,” Hana notes. “Do you think she’s alright?”
“Orange top! Go check on Y/n!” Uo demands.
“Hah?? Don’t you tell me what to do!”
“It’s okay, I’ll do it,” Tohru suggests, but Kyo rises from his seat before she can.
“Sit down. I was going to check on her anyway,” Kyo says. As he goes to leave the room, the teacher stops him.
“Haven’t we been over this? Quit trying to skip my class,”
“I’m not trying to skip nothin’! I’m going to check on Y/n. She went to the bathroom a while ago and she’s not back yet. I’m doing your job here,”
“Just go. Don’t cause trouble,” the teacher excuses him and Kyo heads off.
*
The bell rings and I know I’m late for class. But it’s not completely my fault. Two students, a boy and a girl, had stopped me on my way back from the restroom. I don’t know their names, but they’ve stopped me before. They’re not really my biggest fans. I stand there against the wall as they ask and say to me things no one should ask or say, cruel words I would rather abstain from repeating. But it doesn’t really affect me. I stand there with no reaction as they berate me. Turn the other cheek, you know?
“Hey!” The interjecting voice is immediately recognizable to me. Kyo. His eyes are narrow as he walks up to the two students and I. “How about you shut your mouths? The both of you,” Kyo offers.
“Kyo, it’s alright, I got it,”
“No, I think these idiots need to learn who they’re talking to,”
“Kyo I said I got it alright? Getting aggressive isn’t going to change their perspective so let’s just head back,” you say. He grabs my hand, passing the two students a dirty look as he drags us away from the scene and back to class.
*
The bell rings, concluding the school day and letting the students out. To be truthful, I’ve been avoiding Kyo a bit. I’m not mad, just a bit annoyed. It’s great having such a considerate friend, no one has ever looked out for me the way he does, but when he steps in for me it looks like I can’t handle myself. I open my shoe locker, pulling out my things to leave. When I close the locker door, Kyo is leaning against the ones next to it, looking down at the floor.
“I’m sorry,” he says. I cross my arms and lean against the lockers myself.
“About what?”
“I know you don’t like it when I get really protective of you,”
“Yeah, what were you even doing out there?”
“You hadn’t come back yet and we were starting to get worried. I was starting to get worried,”
“You’re a good friend for staying by me, and I appreciate what you do for me, wanting me safe and happy, but I can fight my own battles. You can stick up for me, but you don’t need to act responsible for me,”
“I know. I’m trying to not get annoyed by them, it’s just…” Kyo trails off, debating his next words, “I don't like when people make fun of the person I like"
“What?”
“Gosh, ya need me to spell it out for ya?” I stare at him for a moment before realizing.
"You… like me? More than a friend?”
"Well duh. Why wouldn’t I?” I shrug.
“I don’t know. It’s not like you flirt with me. I don’t remember you telling me or asking me out,”
“You seriously never noticed?”
“Didn’t have a clue,”
“Well, then you must be really dumb because I made it really obvious,”
“Hey!” I say, nudging his arm. “I guess like you too… dumb dumb,”
Kyo smiles. He stands up straight, extending his hand to me. “Want me to walk you home?”
“Sure,” I say after rolling my eyes. I take his hand and we walk off the premises together. I guess I should pay more attention to things.

Sooooo... This took much longer than expected in terms of research. And just as long to rank. HOWEVER!-
*Drum rolls*
The 40 Mom Tier List:
Ranking the Mom's of the 40 Characters!
S Tier:
Tamako Yukihira - Taught her son that making mistakes is part of success, introduced her son to a new passion for cooking, etc. Cool Mom points for sure.
Rachel Phantomhive - Even she had asthma, she tried her best for her family while she alive. Took care of her children, disciplined them when needed, and took joy when her sister played with them when she couldn't. She was even there for sister when her husband died and tried her best to cheer her up.
Hiroko Kastuki - She's a caring and supportive Mom. AND SHE'S ALIVE! S Tier for sure. :D
Hinata's Mom - Same as Katsuki's Mom. Caring and supportive. We like supportive Mom's in this household.
Nanako Hasegawa - Top Tier Mom, supportive of her son's passions and offered advice during his feed with Reki. She even asks for advice from her late husband's photo when it comes to her son, which shows how much the two mean to her.
Kie Kamado - Took care, supported, and raised of all her children while she was alive, so that counts for something, right? S Tier.
Kotoko Fujioka - Someone Haruhi tries to model after, so that counts for something.
Mitsuko Serinuma - Supportive and caring of her daughter and son, especially with Kae's biy troubles. She even supports her otaku's shenanigans without much of a fuss from what I've seen. Of course, she got worried when she locked herself in her room, though.
Senna - Cares for her child avatar or not. Supports her even though it sometimes means letting her go perform her duties as the Avatar, no matter how dangerous.
Trisha Eldric - CARED for her family and supported them even though she was mourning her husband all the while.
Sachiko Fujinuma - Known to be caring and dedicated to her son.
A Tier:
Ursa - Look, aprt from taking care of Zuko however she could, she was also part of how he remained strong after all those years and taught him that trying even though things get tough was a strength of his. But Azula. Enough said there. Plus, if you want to include the comics, then much more of a reason may be.
Inko Midoriya - She takes care of her son and supports his decisions even though it takes convincing sometimes, say how she wanted to keep him from U.A. that one time. Buuut, as much as it pains me, she did sort of unintentionally cause some issues to form in Deku the day he was prescribed as quirkless. So A Tier instead of S Tier.
Kurumi Saiki: Now, she's personally one of my favorites; she is part of why Kusuo rarely ever uses his powers for wrong reasons. BUT, she also sometimes fails to be an actual parent to both her children who were probably barely raised, if at all because of their fastmature news compared to her and Kuniharu. Not to say she didn't try, but considering Kusuke and Kusuo's sibling hood, Kurumi get A Tier. Still like her though.
Sukuyo Mankanshoku - Now correct me if I'm wrong, you guys (I wanna finish this fast, and I've hardly watched Kill La Kill before sorry), but she seems like a sweet mom. She takes care of her childern, discipline, and even makes meals fo Ryūko as if she wer her own. But she has shown to be a bit oblivious like Kurumi when it comes to the safety of her children, so that's probably one of the only reasons she's not in S Tier.
Kyoko Honda - Reeeeally wanted to give her S Tier, but even if she helped form Torhu moral compass and all that with her wisdom, she did go into a depressive state once her husband passed away leading her into neglecting Tohru and even considering suicide. So, A Tier is the least to do here.
Mrs. Kageyama - A little overworking and doesn't know that her son is hanging with Reagen of all people in all honesty(no offense to Reagen dudes), but supportive.
Kuchel Ackerman - Worked as a prostitute sooo... She cared for Levi, she did, but if only she reached out to someone to take care of him while she was getting sicker. Not saying it was without reason, but she unintentionally did leave her child to starve if it weren't Kenny. Well, I'm not giving her B Tier, but I'm not giving her D Tier either.
B Tier:
Maho Fujiwara - I didn't find much on her and I've never watched much of Love is War, but since she's diplomat, overprotective, and Chika barely mentions her, Imma say she tried her best, but could do better. Feel free to tell me if I should move her up or not.
C Tier:
Yugi/Hanako's Mother- Now I tried to research about her but... well after her son left, well she sort of-... Well, committed sewerslide. Yikes. She only gets D Tier because she didn't treat them like nothing while she took care of them.
D Tier:
Hiromi Shiota - Projected her desires onto her son by making him present as a girl so that he could live a life she wanted. Not very caring or nurturing if you ask me. Then again, she not F Tier.
Leano - Chose her appreance over Legoshi. If you know then you know.
F Tier:
Raygo: No. Just no. NO. (If you know then you know)
Isabella: Season 2 didn't do it for me, so she gets F Tier as she deserves.
Kikyo Zoldyck - Do I really need to explain this one? Do I REALLY need to explain this one? N-O.
Iruma's Mother - Yeah, if you read the first ranking of the Dad's, you know what she did. No S Tier for her.
Bonus, some honorable mentions here:
Kya, Midori Nendo, Mrs. Nanase, and Mrs. Neogi
@the-ravenclaw-werewolf , you like? Please help me fix the ranking if you feel I was too harsh/soft on one of these Mom's. Remember to take a break please! :D

ranking my favorite marinette pairings
okay, so, i am a HUGE multishipper. like, i greatly enjoy shipping characters with different people. since marinette has chemistry with pretty much most of the cast in some way, shape, or form, i figured i'd rank my personal favorite ships with her that i'm fond of.
Tumblr media
5. feinette
coming at #5 we have fei and marinette! i think this is a very unique rarepair and their relationship and dynamic in the shanghai special is adorable! the only reason they're so low is because i just prefer the others with marinette. i think we really need more of them together, as they were the highlight of the entire special for me. overall, very cute, just not my favorite!
Tumblr media
4. marigami
if you asked me to make this ranking a year or two ago, i probably would've put these two lovely gal pals higher up. but my opinion of them has changed drastically since last time so.
i think their relationship is so amazing. the "sunshine x grumpy" dynamic is always something i enjoy (hence why i love tohrin for the same reason). aside from surface level stuff, marinette really shows just how much she cares for kagami. she's her first friend, so naturally, marinette wouldn't want kagami to be left lonely with no one. and knowing marinette, she'd do everything in her power to make kagami feel comfortable and happy when they're together (see mr. pigeon 72).
at first, kagami needed time to warm up to marinette, but she really made a strong impact on her life (gee, i wonder who that reminds me of). i especially like how marinette wanted to get adrigami back together, when that probably wouldn't have even crossed s3 marinette's mind. her willingness to be there for kagami is why i love these girls so much. and kagami actually appreciating marinette's friendship is so wholesome. don't ask me about s5 i like to pretend that season doesn't exist, especially with regard to kagami and how her character was handled.
Tumblr media
3. zoenette
first off, i just want to say, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH?? zoe's crush on marinette is so so cute and i REALLY like how they handled it in adoration. zoe's confession was so heartwarming and marinette's reaction and reassurance was wonderful.
zoe, who had practically NO ONE when she moved to paris, is automatically befriended by marinette, who didn't even know who she was and was so welcoming to her. marinette cares so much about zoe and worries for her because she doesn't want her to be a doormat to chloe and wants her to stand up for herself.
eventually, once zoe does, marinette is so proud of her and it really reminds me of the time when tohru congratulated yuki for standing up to akito, but i digress. she can see just how far zoe has come since she first arrived and her growth is everything. their relationship is built on support and trust and that's what makes their dynamic so compelling and sweet.
Tumblr media
2. alyanette
MY BABIES. i am a sucker for the "best friends to lovers" trope and this is basically that, just without the "lovers" part. they support each other so much. their level of trust is put to the test in s4 when maribug tells alya her identity. alya, in return, helps marinette out even more than she already has. marinette NEEDED to tell someone of the burden and heavy weight that's been put on her shoulders, and i think alya is the perfect candidate.
contrary to popular belief, alya is an AMAZING friend. she's the one who gets marinette out of sticky situations and doesn't get upset easily if she slips up (see the mime). despite not knowing what marinette is up to at times, alya still puts her full trust in her because she knows that, at the end of the day, marinette will make the right decisions.
i could ramble on and on about these two, but you get my point. also, i can't be the only one who could just FEEL the tension in the air rising during their oh so very intimate scene towards the end of the reverse special. no, just me?
Tumblr media
1. adrienette
to no one's surprise, adrienette comes crashing down in first place. i love these two SO MUCH. they care about and love one another in different ways. marinette shows her love through gift-giving and grand gestures. adrien shows his love through words of affirmation and by spending time with someone. they would go above and beyond for the other. adrien confronted AND blackmailed lila about marinette's expulsion and her treatment of her in order for marinette to come back to school. (honestly kinda reminds me of haru when he went and confronted akito about what she did to rin). marinette went to adrien's house numerous times to save him from a possible dangerous situation, i.e. oni-chan, gabriel agreste.
in oni-chan, lila sneakily made her way inside the agreste mansion and lied to nathalie about adrien needing to get some extra homework done to bring his grade up. obviously, she has an ulterior motive: to get close to adrien. marinette, hoping to prevent this, follows them. unfortunately, with no luck, she wasn't able to get inside. this does, however, showcase the lengths she's willing to go to for his safety.
another instance of this is in gabriel agreste, after chloe maliciously recorded a video of marinette and her friends talking about gabriel being a bad parent. knowing what this would do to adrien, chloe was planning on showing the video to his father to get him out of school, DESPITE the fact that chloe would never see him again (it's very telling that chloe does NOT care about adrien or what he wants in the slightest, and would rather fulfill her satisfaction of revenge for shits and giggles).
in contrast, marinette, despite sneaking into the mansion uninvited, comes up a plan with her friends to ensure chloe does not show the video. note that her goal was NOT to hurt adrien but to save him from chloe's clutches. this was not out of jealousy in the slightest. the video ends up not getting shown, much to chloe's determination, and adrien is safe, which was marinette's goal from the start.
i could list so many different instances where marinette and adrien show their tenderness for each other but we'd be here for hours. their relationship means everything to me. and as much as i love the other dynamics, adrienette work the best in canon, (again, not going to mention s5) and, unsurprisingly, complement each other really well.

Why am I encountering Akito Sohma discourse in 2024, soon to be exactly 5 years since the premiere of the second anime adaptation?
Not naming names, only commenting on the garbage takes here.
Tumblr media
No duh on "being abused doesn't justify abusing others", but you might want to tell that to all the stans and simps for (usually male) villains who were abused and took their inexcusable actions towards others even further than Akito would've ever dared to yet they get their crimes downplayed or even defended and rationalized with "the abuse they suffered made them into people who act this way, don't judge the way any abuse victim internalizes and externalizes their trauma from the abuse they experienced, there is no 'perfect victim' y'know?", and are said to "deserve better" or "deserve" redemption.
The idea that Akito "got away with everything Scot-free" seems like a really poor reading of the story based on only the notion that if Akito is not dead, locked up in a penitentiary or asylum, or left completely alone and miserable forever by the end of the story, she faced zero consequences for her actions. Totally disregarding how almost the entirety of what the 2019 anime has as its final season was reality coming in to smack Akito around repeatedly and make her face all the natural consequences of her actions, of how she'd lived her life and ruled over her family as an abusive tyrant. See this? All of this?:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is all Akito's karma. It's from the punishment she wrought for herself. The misery she passed around through her family came back around in full, and she had to watch her entire world, the world of the "eternal banquet" she was promised and believed herself entitled to, gradually unravel along with her own mental and emotional state.
In the anime at least, it hits a crescendo that's regretably so brief and silent that it's easy to miss, but when Akito has mentally shut down and is just sitting there moping beside Shigure, we're shown a bit where she suddenly gets up, like she just hit a breaking point and without any thought, just on pure instinct and emotional impulse, she walks to the screen door and hits her head against it. Given her frail, shaky body language, and the mix of alarm and pity that lurks beneath Shigure's still calm facade, I'm to assume that Akito is wailing and screaming. She's having a full psychotic breakdown.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"She never apologized, never made amends, never did anything to deserve anyone's love and forgiveness". ...I'm sorry, this person really stopped watching after Tohru got put in the hospital, huh? In the last couple of episodes, Akito did nothing BUT be apologetic and set out to make whatever amends she could, including undoing all remaining bonds and breaking the Zodiac curse! She did nothing to "deserve" anyone's love and forgiveness even at this point because now she at last understood she was undeserving of such things and was entitled to nothing, especially nothing from her victims, after the way she'd behaved and the many sins she'd committed. Forgiveness is earned and granted, never "deserved", and it's always a choice whether or not to grant it, so anyone who'd never forgive Akito for as long as they lived would be entirely within their right to do so, and so would be those who did make the choice to forgive her. Neither is invalid. And love is never a matter of "earned", "deserved", or "owed", and to think that it IS is ironically adopting a very Akito mentality.
Also have to go back to that "she never apologized" thing. Really?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Really?
And if "that Tohru, of all people, befriended her despite the horrific things she did to her (not yet and in fact he'd just rejected her) husband" disgusts anyone, than Fruits Basket was never the story for them and Tohru was never a character they were going to love. That moment, and that gesture from Tohru, was one of THE core pillars of the entire narrative, something everything had been building up to from the very beginning. Tohru looked deep inside the cruel, childish, deranged, abusive, controlling, possessive, selfish, cowardly, downright evil pseudo-god that she, and the entire Sohma family, knew as Akito Sohma and she found who Akito Sohma truly was: a sad, abused, broken, twisted, pathetic, wretched, needy and terrified child who'd suffered through an upbringing in which she'd never been allowed to forge a single human connection with anyone else that was not dependent upon her status as the family head and the bonds with the Zodiacs that was her promised birthright, and was thus left with so much vulnerability, so much mental and emotional instability, such fear of living her life in the world as the woman she should be, as the human being she should be, that she kept concealed beneath the armor of a wrathful god who she felt could be comfortably in control of everything in her life and keep it all from slipping away from her and leaving her all alone with all her internal anguish and misery. It's that Akito Sohma who Tohru reached out to and extended the offer of friendship, to become her first ever true human friend in her life, no string attached and no bonds or godhood required. Because that's what Fruits Basket was always all about: the existence and value of love. family, and friendships as forged, mutual, equally consensual connections between humans rather than as some divine mandate upon animals or some commodity to be horded by a god.
Tumblr media
Already took shots at "she gets away with everying and does nothing to deserve anyone's love or forgiveness". On the belief that Akito needed to be jailed for her crimes, that is actually something I can agree with and see as a weakness in the series' ending. Once the Zodiac curse was broken and Akito was no longer "God", there'd now be nothing standing in the way of some of the Sohmas, the family members and servants alike, pushing charges against Akito for all the worst things she'd committed against them. We should've been told that such legal action was taken and that Akito knew it was coming and accepted it, being fully ready to accept accountability and justice for her crimes. When last we'd see her and Shigure, they could be doing a round of community service together! That would've been perfect! But Takaya didn't go that route, and I think what we did got was also satisfactory: Akito had lived her life with power, privileges, and freedom with which to do whatever she wanted but was also a prisoner of her own damaged psyche and of the broken family system she was born into and had to play such a large role in perpetuating, so by the end, it's now flipped so that Akito has been internally set free, is healing and finding inner peace, but without the Zodiac curse, the family headship in a lonelier, harder, constraining position but she voluntarily endures with it so that she may live the rest of her life atoning for the sins she'd committed when she was "God", all at a distance from family members who mostly will never forgive her, never think any better of her, and are glad to be free of her. So the idea that Akito's fate not being punitive enough being akin to a slap on the wrist is misguided. It's a lifelong committment to restorative justice and not getting all she desired that Akito's made, and she has to endure it while being romantically involved with Shigure, which honestly feels like a punishment worse than prison!
Piss the fuck off with the "blatant abuse apologist" claim, too. This is the same bullcrap spewed towards Kohei Horikoshi when he gave Endeavor a self improvement/atonement arc. WIth both Endeavor and Akito, the narrative is never at any point remotely pretending that their actions are anything but monstrously abusive, toxic, cruel, harmful and wrong. They're bad and so the abuser is made to feel bad about having ever done them and must face up to all the natural karmic consequences that will inconvenience their lives. An anti-abuse narrative that does not keep it as simple and black-and-white as "the abuser is 100% Bad Person, it's a problem that they exist and hurt people, the solution is to remove them from life entirely" yet still condemns the abuser for their actions and champions their victims ability to move beyond them, find healing, peace, love, and happiness in lives better than what the abuser could ever hope for, is not in the slightest bit "abuse apologism": no apologies or excuses for the abuse are being made.
Tumblr media
Not Akito-related, just showing how this same person truly feels about Fruits Basket on the whole due to how "problematic" it is. If it's not for you, fine, and this is actually 100% correct regarding Katsuya Honda being a sociopathic predator who fucked a child student of his yet it get beyond inappropriately framed as a beautiful, romantic, loving thing within the narrative. But when it reaches this hyperbolic "the entire series has no value, it's irredeemable media and deserves to be trashed" level of vitriol for the work...nah. That's not agreeable.
And then there's this anon who called in to say:
Seeing you rightfully call out the utter bullshit of Akito's "redemption" has me heated. The story becomes irredeemably bad the moment the forgiveness shit is pushed.
Let me say this much: there was no "redemption" or "redemption arc" for Akito. She had her big epiphany and recieved personal salvation from Tohru's approach to her, and from then on she turned herself towards self-improvement and atonement for her many sins while finally living a true human life of her own. Atonement /=/ redemption, as all avenues for her to redeem herself for her abusive acts directly to those effected by said abusive acts got closed off a long time ago.
And forgiveness is entirely another matter from redemption and atonement. Tohru, Kureno, Shigure, Momiji, Arisa, and Saki chose to forgive Akito. Literally no one else was shown to do so. Rin even said outright she could never forgive Akito after everything she did, and in the anime at least, she was positioned as not in the wrong for that.
Takaya is on my shit list for life for how she handled Tohru's character, she is my favourite I love her compassion for people and her determination to never give up despite how difficult things can be plus her learning to move on from her crippling grief resonates with me. The ending Takaya gives her is fucking vile Tohru forgiving and befriending Akito is bullshit and my mind is never going to change on that.
"I love her compassion for people." "Tohru forgiving and befriending Akito is bullshit!" Do...you not see how these are conflicting ideas? "Tohru is wonderful for how much empathy and compassion she has for people...wait no, not THAT people!" How do you miss that big?
The sole reason Tohru wants to break the curse is because she sees how much her friends are suffering under Akito's abuse both mentally and physically. She would never be so inconsiderate of their feelings as to befriend the person who hurt them so much.
And she also saw how much Akito herself was suffering under the curse and the role that was forced upon her from birth. Also, how is choosing to befriend her friends abuser inconsiderate when they don't need to factor into it at all? Tohru doesn't try to force Yuki, Kyo, Rin, Momiji, Hiro, Kisa and the rest to also be friends with Akito. She at no point even considers that possibility. What's between Tohru and Akito is kept purely between them, away from Akito's victims. Tohru understands that they'd never be comfortable around Akito due to having a history with her that Tohru herself does not have, and while she wants to help Akito move past her pain and put in the good work to make reparations for her sins, she's not going to ever downplay how vile those sins were and how badly they hurt people, nor would she put up even the pretense of giving absolution of them to Akito.
That's not even getting to my other major problem with this storyline Tohru never even learns about half of the horrific shit Akito does to her friends, Takaya intentionally has her character be left in the dark. Not to mention how abusive akito is to HER!
Why does it need to be Tohru's business to know absolutely every horrible deed Akito ever did to every person she was ever horrible to? Akito did that shit, it happened, there's nothing Tohru can do that could possibly change that or make any of it better. And oh dear, are we getting into the "antagonistic behavior = abuse" bullshit again?
She manipulates her the first time they meet and then at the beach house she threatens her and scratches up her face. Tohru outright admits she is scared of her. Then towards the end of the story akito then has the audacity to blame her for the zodiacs not loving her despite that being the consequences of her own disgusting actions. She shows up at the house to hurt and potentially kill Tohru, she slaps her multiple times, stabs her and pushes her close to the cliffs end directly putting her in danger. Akito almost gets the poor girl killed. Akito spends the entire story being an abusive monster to Tohru and the people she loves. And nearly leads to multiple characters dying, Takaya really wants us to think a friendship Between the two of them is cute because they both relate to being lonely????
Ah yes. Yes we are. Most of what's described above is Akito being a cruel villain and acting as a threatening adversary to Tohru, with actions that are clearly reprehensible and uncalled for but are not inherently "abusive", as Akito is treating a stranger badly and making enemies with her rather than being in any relationship in which she can treat her abusively. The hardest into abuse it ever swings is when Akito is holding a knife to Tohru and physically strikes her, and that's when Akito is in the midst of a full-blown psychotic episode.
And that the characters apparently aren't that different to each other??? When they clearly are. Tohru is a kind and compassionate person who helps those around her while Akito is a manipulative snake who treats those around her like they are her possessions. Tohru grows up being bullied and alone. Akito is a child abuser and commits multiple attempted murders. Trust me Takaya these characters aside from them having tragic backstories and fears of abandonment are as far away from each other as you can get.
Tohru was brought up to be kind and selfless, to the point of seeing her own self as lesser in value than others. Akito's upbringing shaped her into becoming cruel and selfish, to the point of seeing others as possessions for her to keep hold of, to pleasure her with a sense of superiorty as a cover for her own poor self image and lack of self-worth. Tohru was left alone without her mother and was ostracized by her peers. Akito was left alone without her father (as her own mother would never give her the time of day) and was "othered" by literally every person around her. They're foils. Akito is a broken reflection of what Tohru might've become if Kyoko had not put in that effort to be such a kind, loving, nurturing parent, and Akito always envied Tohru because she reflects the girl she might've been had she been allowed to be, and not internalized everything wrong with the Sohma family nor adopted her mother's own internalized misogyny.
The friendship is disgusting, Akito is an evil bitch period she is not Tohru's problem or her responsibility. Also Uo and Hana being friends with her after they find out she nearly killed their best friend and Kureno was also so gross. The characters do some of the most OOC shit in order to give Akito one of the least deserving redemption arcs i have ever seen. It is truly some of the most atrocious, insulting writing, Takaya should be embarrassed for thinking this was an acceptable way to end the story.
If you want to get technical, none of the Sohmas are Tohru's problem or responsibility. It's not on her to "fix" them or be their therapist and savior, she doesn't owe them anything. She chooses to help them out of compassion, empathy, and a desire to do right by others, to see true justice done and freedom, peace, and happiness assured for the people she cares about in their lives going forward, With Akito too, she did not impose or make her into her responsibility; she extended her hand. She offered Akito a choice. The friendship would not happen if Akito decided she was unwilling to put in the effort to do her part and accept the care, help, comfort and understanding offered to her by Tohru. So yeah, you can blame Akito for that too, even though it's not a wrong thing of her to do whatsoever! Uotani also did not become Akito's friend, more like a friendly acquaintance. Hanajima did follow Tohru's lead and befriend her, and considering she knows how it feels to internally tear yourself apart with self-loathing over guilt from having hurt people to the point of cursing your very identity and existence, I'd say her decision makes sense.
I haven't read the spin off but Akito having a child just reinforces that she is still the same selfish person she has always been. Her wanting to have children but deciding not to because of how they would suffer due to her terrible actions would actually mean she has to live with the consequences of what she has done. but of course we can't have that.
Meh. Not much a fan of that spin off and I'm kind of hoping we don't get it adapted into an anime. Some things are best left open-ended.

kagura is very gentle when it comes to animals, especially bugs and spiders. she’ll carefully scoop them up and bring them outside instead of killing them
