i am going to take this opportunity to address the number one problem i find with fanfiction (and the source material too!! theyre not safe either) about sports animes/manga (blue lock in particular bc ive been obsessed recently).
now it’s not really a problem, but it just irks me. i just get annoyed by it. it makes me want to throw my toaster at the wall, which is bad because then i won’t have any toast to eat (i hate toast). okay, getting on with it:
WHY DO PPL ASSUME THAT SPORTS ANIME/MANGA MCS DONT KNOW HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS IN A ROMANTIC WAY????
like if it’s like,,, hinata from hq i would understand, bc he’s like a ball of anxiety and probably didnt know that women existed until he went to school. but like,, isagi??? nahhh. you’re done. he was literally the most popular kid at his school, there’s no way he doesn’t know how to flirt or smth. when characters like this are portrayed with zero knowledge of females, it makes me go 🤨 bc on god this man has been confessed to before.
AND ANOTHER THING
if they do know how to talk to girls how come they’re always framed as playboys?? not everyone who can flirt is a playboy, stop giving us flirts a bad image please. as a competitive swimmer i love flirting with people but im not dating 6 ppl at once, so please stop this sorcery. especially if they’re in high school, since that makes it feel so creepy.
like i understand that sometimes it gets played up by the author for laughs, but most male athletes talk to girls a lot, and vice versa. nobody is going to be blushing red and having a mini heart attack bc they’re talking to another gender, especially as an athlete. WE HAVE LOW RESTING HEART RATES SO IF THAT HAPPENS ITS LITERALLY BAD??
and on the other hand, we don't always want to date random ppl who talk to us, or seduce them. most of the time we just wanna talk. is that so wrong?

"He's self-centered but he's insecure so naturally, he's petty."
Oikawa couldn't shake that comment off his head as he slammed yet another ball into the opposing court, aggressively wiping on the sweat on his forehead. The university gym was already deserted with all his teammates gone yet he was still doing jump serves as if he wasn't already so good at it. He just needed an outlet.
In his head, he was already thinking of counter arguments to what he heard being said about him. It was one sentence. One! And yet he was working up all his brain cells to think of a lengthy rebuttal to every single word in that single statement.
First of all, he wasn't self-centered. He doesn't just think about himself, or so he likes to think. He was sensitive enough to read the room most of the time and he can actually bring the best out of his teammates to the highest degree. An insensitive, selfish prick wouldn't be able to do that without proper observation and lack of awareness for others.
Secondly, he didn't think he was insecure. He didn't have to lift a finger to get the attention he wanted, and it was human to feel envy for those who are better than him because there will always be someone better. It’s just an inevitability he has to deal with.
And lastly, he wasn't petty. He's always been reactive, he knew that, but that was just reaction if not retaliation to those who want to belittle him. That's what he thinks anyway.
But why you had to say those things about him as if you were a female version of Iwaizumi – his best friend who seemed to get off of being too cruelly honest and straightforward about what he thought of Oikawa – was something he didn't understand.
Of course, he was aware of your blatant frankness. He loved that about you. You were just very insistent on your individuality and you had very strong opinions which you stood by without regard to anything. Most of the time anyway. He actually got a kick out of people's reactions when you say something without filtering your words especially when you were children, but like they say, it's never funny when one becomes the receiving end of anything negative.
The larger dilemma was that you were the only girl he sincerely liked, so much so that he was willing to lay down his pride just to have you and call you his. Solely and irrevocably his. But if you thought of him that way, then maybe you actually hated him. It bothered him to no end.
"What the hell did I tell you about over-exertion?" Oikawa heard that familiar deep voice from the direction of the entrance, and before he knew it, the ball crate was being wheeled away from him. "Enough. It's off season."
"Just letting off some steam," Oikawa stated, smiling Iwaizumi's way despite himself.
"You can do that at Kuroo's party," the other male said with finality. "Be out in fifteen." His last words were laced with a threat, and Oikawa didn't have a choice but to do as he was told. The former was right. If it's just to vent out, he could definitely do that at the party.
He couldn't be more wrong in his life.
The moment he entered the premises of Kuroo's house, the first thing he saw was you. You came in just after he did, but you bumped against him without even apologizing as you walked ahead, waving at someone else. You saw him there, but you walked off anyway as if you didn't.
"What the actual fuck?" he couldn't help but blurt out when he saw just who you were talking to.
You've always been agreeable to him as his childhood friend, but you were ignoring him on top of saying bad things about him to your friends. And now, you were talking to Ushijima Wakatoshi whom you knew he disliked with a passion.
The male simply got on his nerves for the fact that he was better at him in the sport they both played. Oikawa also hated how much the guy hounded him to join their team back in high school, talking about how he would be better off. Like how is it better to be in the same team as Ushijima was when he would just outshine him?
His mind started to run amok with questions. What could you possibly want from Ushijima? Better yet, what did he want from you? Since when were you even close to him? Oikawa almost wanted to throw up seeing how you were being buddy-buddy with the cold fish of a guy, actually managing to melt his severe expressions into a soft smile. Were you going out with him now? He couldn't take it.
Without thinking, he grabbed the shoulder of the person who was holding a tray of drinks, taking two shot glasses in his hand, and telling the person to stay where he was standing. He was able to down six shots while standing there, but before he could drink more, Iwaizumi came into view.
"What do you think you're doing?" he demanded gruffly, telling the poor guy with the drinks to scram.
"Not now, Iwa," he snapped, walking towards the direction of the stairs, rudely telling everyone to get out of his way.
He stayed there for almost an hour, trying to calm his nerves but ending up going feral over this couple who were making out as they pushed the door to Kuroo's room where he was lying down on the bed. To say that he killed their mood was an understatement as he harshly told them to fuck off. Nobody dared cross him being the famous star athlete that he was at the university you both attended. It was, however, useless if he finds himself losing even outside of court to Ushijima who was his equivalent in the neighboring school when it comes to volleyball. It left him with a bitter taste at the recesses of his mouth.
When he finally emerged from the room, deciding to get more drinks, he was still in a foul mood, glaring at anyone who would get in his way towards the kitchen. But his plan was all but forgotten when he saw you standing by the archway that led to the kitchen, leaning there as you nursed a plastic cup against your chest.
For the first time that night, he was actually seeing how beautiful you were, dressed in a crop top and tight-fitting jeans which were tattered in most places. As per usual, you were stuck in your own bubble, bobbing your head to the music as if you weren't aware of all the adoring looks you were getting. Well, you were a person who didn't know her strengths and denied them when he tells you. It was just unfair how he always has nice things to say about you but you didn't think the same way about him.
He closed the distance between the two of you, placed his forearm above your head, towering over you, that infamous smirk plastered on his face.
"Hey, baby," he said in a low tone, leaning down until your faces were just inches from one another.
"Hello, darling," you returned, smiling slightly. "I've been looking for you, but Iwa said you ran off somewhere."
"Have you now?" He eyed you seriously. "Weren't you just ignoring me a while ago for Ushijima?"
He wasn't able to elicit the reaction he wanted from you, and instead, you smirked at him. "Eh?" you responded in a dragged out note. "I wasn't with Ushijima for the sake of ignoring you, Toru. The world doesn't revolve around you."
He stood back in indignation, your opinions of him coming out to the surface. "So why were you with him?" He was aware that his tone made it seem like he had any right to be questioning you of your actions. He had been vocal about his attraction to you, but it wasn't as if he was your boyfriend. Still, he couldn't care less at the moment.
"None of your business, sweetheart," you told him, your words at odds to the saccharine smile you flashed him. He found himself disconcerted especially when you reached up and started fixing his fringe. "What are you acting so jealous for?"
Ah, he thought. It wasn't his place to be feeling that way but he didn't want to respond to your question in any way. So, like he did earlier, he stormed off, sticking to his original plan to get wasted.
He didn't want to say things he will regret even if you were being hot and cold. For a while now, he had the feeling that you were toying with him, but whenever he was around, your actions towards him were always the opposite of your words about him as of late. One time you'd be telling him to go away, but as soon as he does, you're grabbing his arm, telling him to sit still beside you. You'd be complaining to him one second that he was being an annoying brat and then sit on his lap peppering his cheeks with kisses. You'd be with another guy but tell him you're looking for him. You were confusing to say the least.
Oikawa didn't know what happened after he walked away from you. But when he finally came to, he had a throbbing headache and he wasn't in his room. He looked around him, straining to keep his eyes open as he took in his surroundings, shooting up from the bed when he realized he was looking at the familiar layout of your bedroom.
He had been there a million times ever since you were kids, and he had been a witness to all the changes your little corner of the world had gone through. He couldn't help but smile despite his feelings and headache at the thought that what was once a room that looked like it was made of cotton candy was now in scales of black and white, surrounded with things that were just so you.
But after all the changes, you still had that framed photo of you and him in grade school, where he was kissing you on the cheek while you grinned wide for the camera. You were wearing the matching shirts your crazy moms got you, and he knew you still kept them somewhere in your room.
Yes, he told himself, I was there before anyone else. You’ve always been the closest to him even when Iwaizumi came into the picture. Even then, he didn’t seem to understand you well enough to actually lay emphasis on the fact that you’ve known each other since you were in diapers.
Just then, you walked into the room, holding a glass of fizzy water. You were wearing only his old volleyball jersey, padding barefoot on the floor. You specifically asked for it when you both graduated from high school and you've been sleeping in it since then.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," you greeted, sitting down on the empty space of the queen bed which he noticed was also slept on. "Drink up."
"What am I doing here?" he asked after downing the whole glass in one go, setting it on the nightstand.
"I took you home. Your mom would have killed you if she saw how fucked up you were last night." You brushed his hair from over his eyes. "How are you feeling?"
"Like my head's about to explode," he muttered.
You clucked your tongue. "Why did you have to drink so much anyway?"
Instead of answering you, he laid back down on the bed, turning away from you. He had every intention to ignore you after that, but it wasn't long before he felt you coming closer to him, propping your chin on his arm while you draped yours over his waist.
"You're sulking, Toru."
He took the pillow from under his head to hide his head under it. "I don't wanna do this today, Y/N."
"Do what? What exactly are we doing?"
The audacity to ask, he said at the back of his mind, biting his tongue. He didn't say anything and just stayed still.
"Hey, I asked you a question," you continued to badger him. "You've been acting off since a week ago. What's up?"
He refused to satisfy you with a response thinking you ought to realize what it was exactly that you two had been doing, dancing around each other yet skirting around the real issues between you. You couldn't be that oblivious of his affections and you weren't exactly passive either.
Nevertheless, you always had a way of turning things to your favor, and before he knew it, he was falling off the bed after you kicked him off it, nearly landing face down if it weren't for his fast reflexes.
"Y/N!" he whined, remaining seated on the floor as he clutched on his head. He half expected you to laugh at his predicament, but when he met your eyes, he regretted it, seeing the serious expression you had.
"You should know by now that I hate it when I am denied things I want to know especially those which involve me," you told him, cocking your head to the direction of the bed. You sounded menacing, so far from the gentle voice you always used when talking to him. "Stop being a brat. Get back here and talk to me properly."
"You're the one who kicked me!" he protested as he stood up, doing as he was told nonetheless, sitting up and leaning on the headboard.
"So, what's your problem?"
"I'm jealous of Ushijima," he returned promptly his brown eyes also taking a severe quality to it as he eyed you.
You arched a brow at him. "What's new about that?"
"At least before, he didn't have you, too. Now..." He sighed. "You're friends with him now? What was that about last night?"
"Are you serious right now? I had business with the guy."
Oikawa scoffed. "What business are you talking about that he's all smiles at you like that? He only ever smiles around his girlfriend –"
"Exactly," you countered, openly savoring the look on his face when he realized just what he was saying. "He ordered a huge consignment of rare live flowers for his girlfriend so I informed him it had been delivered. Our family as ikebana* artists and horticulturist do that for a living."
"What?"
You shrugged. "You're assuming things again."
Oikawa blinked, feeling defeated at your sound reasoning, but he still has bones to pick with you. "That's not just my problem with you. What are we really, Y/N? I don't get how you're ignoring me and suddenly being sweet. I'm getting mixed signals here. And don't think for a second that I didn't hear about what you told your friends about me."
He narrowed his eyes at you, smirking when he saw how your eyes rounded, finally able to take you off guard like you usually did to him. For once, he wanted you to lose your footing and come clean about what you really thought about him…how you really felt.
"Hmm. What exactly did I say about you?" you asked, the caution in your tone obvious.
"You know it, Y/N. Don't you dare make me jump all the hoops!" he stated, losing his temper.
You shook your head, not understanding where his choleric attitude was coming from. You knew better than to level your irritation with his, and you were so used to his antics that you found yourself almost unaffected by his crusty demeanor. "I really don't know what you're talking about, Toru."
He glared at you. "You told them you think I'm petty because I'm self-centered but I'm insecure. Ring any bells, sweetheart? And don't lie, I heard it myself."
You ran your hand over your face, frustration emanating from you. At the same time, you wanted to laugh because he looked like an angry kitten instead of the fully grown man he supposedly is.
Oikawa didn't know where your exasperation was coming from when he's supposedly the one feeling it but then you nodded.
"I did say that."
"How could you?" he complained, aware that he sounded like a juvenile dipshit but he didn't know how to react to your lack of denial for it. In the end, he just wanted you to say you didn't mean it even if he already got hurt from hearing it.
"How couldn't I, Toru? That's the truth," you stated, no bars held and your voice ringing clear in the air between you. You were really merciless when it came to voicing out what ran inside your head.
"Well, shit, Y/N. Why didn't you just tell me to my face?" He was about to stand up, but you pushed him down, sitting astride his lap so he wouldn't move. He refused to look at you but couldn’t move at the same time cause he didn’t want to hurt you in any way although he didn’t exactly want you close at the moment. "Get off while I'm being nice about it."
"Iwa and I never fail to tell you every day," you started, placing your hands on either side of his face, gently making him look at you.
"You both hate me?" he asked weakly, unable to imagine life without the two of you beside him.
"No." You shook your head. "Toru, no. Of course not. That's just how you are, isn't it? We never asked you to change. We just couldn't help noticing it, and if we don't tell you, who will?"
Oikawa Toru. So used to being fawned over that he doesn't know how to react when he is being criticized. He could admit to that, but it still hurt hearing you say that.
"Sweetheart, I did say those things about you, but you didn't stay long enough to hear the rest."
He pouted, looking away from you. "And what is it?"
You tilted your head so you would be in his line of vision, grinning the moment you realized you had him. "That despite all that, you're a generally kind person who cares a lot for your friends, your team, for me, and even if you don't know how to show it, deep down, you're a sensitive soul. And I adore that about you."
"Really?"
You scoffed. "I love you, Toru. I thought we had an understanding."
"As friends, you mean?"
You rolled your eyes at him, but didn't say anything further, closing the distance between your lips, kissing him fervently and intensely in case the message didn't come across just yet.
He gasped against your lips, caught off guard as usual, but kissed you back with as much fervor, dominating you shortly after your mouths made contact. He nipped and sucked on your lips before shoving his tongue into your mouth, immediately finding yours and delving in to taste you. Oikawa grinned when he rendered you into a panting mess, reveling in the way your hands possessively held him close.
"I waited so long for this," he said against your ear.
"Make up for all those times you missed out then," you told him with a smug grin.
"Heh. You asked for it."
He flipped you both over on the bed making you burst out in a fit of giggles, kissing you stupid, his hands touching everywhere he could reach, your clothes and his mixing in a pile on the floor while he made sweet love to you.
Oikawa Toru. He's self-centered but he's insecure so naturally, he's petty. But he was not just that. He's also the guy you loved to smithereens because you knew that those other facets of him – the good ones – exist.

The Soccer Incident
Warnings: A couple swears
Word Count: 2,534 words
Pairing: Junhoe x female!reader
Tumblr media
Koo Junhoe was a contradiction. He was an anomaly in the usual order of things, and everyone seemed to love him for it. He was one of the most popular people in his university because he didn’t quite fit into any one category. He was a physical education major, he was the star player on the lacrosse team, the most sought after male player in the intramural soccer club on campus, he was arguably the most attractive jock in the whole school, and he was the reason there was a Jiu Jitsu club on campus. You would think hearing all of these accomplishments that he was a total meat head jock- there’s no way any man this invested in physical activity could ever be interested in more stationary, softer intellects.
However, Junhoe was also a creative writing minor. He was a part of a small writers group that he had compiled of poetry writers (like him) and fiction writers (a passion he deeply admires but didn’t have the same calling for). He had a few poems published in the school’s English journal, and was never caught without his leather bound notebook for his poetry.
Junhoe was one of the most versatile students in his university- but this never seemed to cross Junhoe’s mind. He didn’t see any reason why people would expect anything else from him. Why were people always surprised when they learned that the star lacrosse player was also a poet? Why were his friends in Jiu Jitsu club always laughing when they saw him scribbling away in his journal before meeting started instead of stretching like the rest of them?
Not everyone judged Junhoe so harshly, and there’s no way he could miss the way girls watched him when he walked around campus. Like he could ever be oblivious when the girls in his writing group created love interests that could almost be his doppelganger. Junhoe’s gay-dar was also almost flawless- it wasn’t just the girls that gave him heart eyes in passing.
However, there was one girl that totally ignored Junhoe— (Y/N) was the conundrum that Junhoe couldn’t figure out. He knew she liked boys- he’d seen her at parties with boyfriends, but she didn’t seem to notice him at all. He’d only tried to talk to her once, and she’d been kind, but she’d been late to class and had to rush off. Of course, it was just Junhoe’s luck that the only girl that Junhoe had eyes for was also the one who looked right through him.
He didn’t know much about her— it wasn’t like he was some stalker. He did know, however, that she was also a creative writing minor and was a junior- just like Junhoe. They had previously been in two classes together, which was how she had managed to catch his eye. She would come to class either dressed to the nines- perfectly designed outfits that matched all the way to the jewelry- or looking like she’d just rolled out of bed- her hair in a messy bun, a pair of sweats baggy and hanging from her waist haphazardly. To him, she always looked beautiful.
The thing that really won his heart, though, wasn’t her look or their similarities; it was the way that she always gave him blunt, brutally honest feedback on his pieces. Most of their others in his creative writing classes either don’t know enough to give good feedback, or were so infatuated with him that they gave nothing but blind praise for everything he wrote. (Y/N) was the only person except the Professor who could give advice that Junhoe could use— ideas that sparked Junhoe’s mind to make even better, deeper poems that expressed exactly what he meant.
Her straightforward nature had won him over, but was also the thing that stopped him from shooting his shot. Nothing scared him quite like the idea of being rejected by her— he could imagine it now and it gave him chills. His mind paints the picture without his consent; asking her out the next time they pass, her blank face staring before it morphs into one of pity, her soft voice explaining she’s not interested, her turning away— scurrying off before he can make it more awkward.
No, he’s perfectly fine admiring from afar. It hurt less; he’d rather her not know he exists than to be another weird boy hitting on a classmate he barely knows.
Fate seemed to have other plans for Junhoe, however. Or, more accurately, his best friend, who happens to run the intramural club. He had shown up slightly early for the club meeting that day and was surprised to see Donghyuk with (Y/N) and her best friend, (Y/BF/N), who was the best female player on the intramural team. He really was contemplating running in the opposite direction as quickly as he could, but he was a second too slow.
“Yo, Jun, come here!” Donghyuk waves him over, a wide grin on his face, knowing exactly what he was doing to the poor man.
With a deep breath and a lot of internal cursing of Donghyuk’s existence, he slowly jogged towards the trio.
“Dong, what’s up, man?” Junhoe had no idea what was coming out of his mouth, or why he suddenly sounded like some of the more asshole boys in his sports classes, but he was too focused on remembering to breathe and not trip to care much. Donghyuk’s eyebrows bounce at the greeting, obviously making the same judgement that Junhoe did, before nodding at him, playing it off.
“You know (Y/B/F/N),” Donghyuk gestures to the two women beside him. “This is her best friend, (Y/N). She’s going to take up Miyoung’s spot while her wrist heals.”
Junhoe nods at (Y/B/F/N), who smiles at him. He doesn’t know where he gains the confidence, but he looks directly at you and says, “Don’t we have a creative writing class together?” The automatic look of confusion makes Junhoe’s heart freeze, then instantly knock impossibly fast against his rib cage.
But then your eyes burst with realization, a huge grin splitting your face. “You mean Dr. Scott’s class? God, I’m barely alive for that class; how are you awake enough that early to know the other kids in that class?” You were laughing with him— though it took him a second to laugh along because wow you were having a conversation.
“I just really like the class— I zone out in most other classes.” It wasn’t a lie, he just didn’t point out you were his favorite part of the class. All his other writing classes over the semesters without you had been almost torture with all the fawning, ass-kissing girls.
“Yeah, Jun is actually a pretty shit student because he’d rather write poems and join every sports club on campus than do his damn homework.” Donghyuk nudges Junhoe, laughing as Junhoe balks at his words.
“Well his poems are good so it must pay off a little! I’ll be the judge today if the same can be said about his sport skills.” You chuckle, and try to ignore the look that (Y/B/F/N) is shooting you that Junhoe thankfully doesn’t catch.
Junhoe is too busy having to physically restrain himself from fawning over your praise. Luckily your friend jumped in just before he could combust with the effort.
“We should go get ready. Let’s go stretch under the shade over there, (Y/N)!” She loops her arm around your bicep, lightly tugging you away from the boys. You wave at them, looking simultaneously absolutely adorable and like you were afraid your friend would kill you when you reached the aforementioned shade.
When you finally turned to look at (Y/B/F/N), Donghyuk whacks Junhoe’s bicep hard, making him wince and rub the abused spot. “Make a move already, idiot. Are you blind, or just stupid? Did someone put you in a particularly tight chokehold recently?”
“Wh-what?” Well that told Donghyuk all he needed to know and he sighed as he rubbed his face.
“She likes you too, dipshit. Just ask her out already.” Junhoe stared at his best friend for a solid minute before he burst out laughing.
His eyes welled with tears as he gasped around peals of laughter, holding his ribs as his sides spasmed from the force of his laughter. He couldn’t believe Donghyuk had said that when he’d just done so much to try not to seem like a crazy person.
“You’re hopeless, I swear.” Donghyuk shakes his head, leaving Junhoe’s still cackling figure to go greet a couple other students in the club who had arrived.
Although Junhoe is able to physically calm himself down and begin to stretch for the game, his mind wouldn’t stop thinking of Donghyuk’s words, and he repeatedly had to stop himself from looking over his shoulder at you to see if you were looking at him too. Finally Donghyuk called everyone to the side of the field to split into teams.
Just Junhoe’s luck that he was on the opposite team as you. He had wanted to work with you to win— the idea of you two playing soccer together and beating the other team made his heart race in a way that confused him. It was just a little passing crush on you, why was he so invested in doing things with you?
Get yourself together, Junhoe, and get your ass out there.
He took a deep breath and huddled up with his team, splitting up positions and delegating who would play when, since there were so many members on both teams that they would change out players. Junhoe was to be the first member in the goal, which he wasn’t ecstatic about, but he accepted it with a grin. He could play any position just as well as the next person, so he knew he could keep the goal safe from the other team. He really would’ve preferred to be out on the field to show off his skills though—especially with you out there. You had pulled your hair from your face and you had shed the light jacket you had on previously to show off a band t-shirt, a group he absolutely adored to listen to while writing that he never would have expected you to like as well.
As he took his place in the goal at their end of the field, he watched you stand next to your friend, laughing at something she said, pushing her lightly. He couldn’t help but smile wide at how happy you looked—totally at ease despite the fact you were about to play soccer with a group that you barely knew.
Donghyuk shouted out a “start game” from his position on the sidelines (he was sitting out this first half, but he would later take Junhoe’s position, as he preferred to stay on the side, watching the action instead of running around). Junhoe’s team was a surprisingly good mixture of members; while not the best players, they seemed to work together beautifully today, and Junhoe’s job was mind-numbingly easy.
The ball almost never came to their side of the field, except for a handful of close calls that Junhoe quickly dispatched with calculated ease. His team was winning 3-0 with only about 10 minutes left for this half before they switched out the members. Hearing this minute warning seemed to light a newfound fire under your ass, however, and you suddenly seemed to learn exactly how to play soccer like a pro. Your goalkeeper had kicked the ball at you after saving it from another goal. Seemingly in a matter of seconds you were one with the soccer ball as you effortlessly handled it all the way across the field to his goal until you were only a few feet from him. You made eye contact and he could see the fire and drive in your eyes for a goal, and he made a conscious decision in that second to let you make the goal. He would let the ball through—what was one small goal anyway, and it was only an intramural game.
However, his plans changed quickly when you punted the ball—hard. Instead of going into the goal cleanly, like he was expecting, it went straight for his forehead, knocking his head back with a sharp thwack sound. He fell to the ground with a harsh groan, his hands coming up to rest on his face as the world spun and warped, pain spreading across his whole head. He lay on his back, cradling his head in his hands, as he grunted out swears that would make his mother smack him harder than the soccer ball had.
“Oh my god, are you alright? Jesus, I’m so so sorry.” Your voice was high and anxious, and racing closer to him. He moved his hands and opened his eyes, squinting against the harsh sunlight to see your face looking down at him. You were sweaty from all the running, and your hair was starting to fall back into your face, but he still couldn’t help smiling.
“God, you’re beautiful, (Y/N).” He didn’t know what that ball did to his head, but he didn’t really mind the sudden courage it gave him.
Your face dropped into shock before you burst out into glorious laughter, your face lighting up into the widest and most adorable smile Junhoe had ever seen.
“You’re crazy, Junhoe.” You brush a strand on his hair from his face before pressing a hand softly to his cheek. He closes his eyes and leans into the touch softly. “No, no, don’t close your eyes. We don’t know if you have a concussion yet.”
His eyes flutter open and look at you with soft eyes. He gathers the last bit of pain-drunk courage to blurt out, “Go on a date with me?”
You nod, looking down at his splayed figure. “It is the least I can do after almost taking your head off with a soccer ball.”
“Good kick, by the way.”
You both laugh at that as you stand, slowly taking his hands and helping him to his feet as well. He winces and places the heel of his hand between his eyebrows, where the most pain is currently radiating.
“Let’s get you an icepack.” You chuckle, putting his arm around your shoulder and walking him towards the nurse’s office. Donghyuk didn’t seem to even ask if Junhoe was alright, he was well aware that he would be fine with some rest and ice. Instead, he just jumped into his place with an accomplished grin on his face, starting the game right back up.
You didn’t need to help Junhoe all the way to the nurse, or stay with him for the 20 minutes he sat there with an icepack to his forehead, but the conversation you had was funny and sweet. And truth be told, you had noticed Junhoe many times in the past and had been drawn to him. You were more than happy for any excuse to interact with him outside of class. And thanks to this upcoming date, you would finally get the chance to get to know him that much better.

You smiled at the phone, then walked into Yosen High, looking around carefully. The school was really big and beautiful compared to your regular, small and old Morioka High School in Iwate prefecture. But you didn’t come here to see the buildings. You wanted to spend the weekend with your boyfriend because you had already talked to your parents and Atsushi’s parents a week earlier about it. They gladly agreed to your trip to Akita so that you could give your tall boy a small gift in the form of your own arrival and a few packs of his favorite (and new) snacks.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that you lived three hours away from each other, and you had a lot of activities at school and after classes, you couldn’t see each other as often as you would like. Of course, you spent Christmas, anniversaries, holidays and birthdays together, but during the school year it was difficult to realize it. You had to be content with conversations on the phone, video calls and hundreds of text messages.
Luckily you didn’t go to school today and took the train to Akita instead. Atsushi’s mother and his older sister were waiting for you on the platform, so you took your bag to their house, took a quick shower after the trip, put on more comfortable pants and a loose shirt, and thanked them for everything, taking only your black bag, wallet with some money, phone and headphones. Mrs. Murasakibara wanted to drive you to her son’s school, but you refused with a warm voice saying that you would be happy to take a walk. You helped yourself with a Google Maps and finally reached the High School building, entering it.
Earlier, you wrote a little with your soft giant’s friend – Himuro – who told you that today the Yosen school basketball team will have another training session and you should come on it. He described the way to the gym for you and said he would keep Murasakibara in the gymnasium for as long as necessary.
Fortunately, you managed to come to training, or rather a short break between games, so you breathed a sigh of relief.
You stuck your head out from behind the wall and looked around the large room.
Although you’ve been to Atsushi’s house more than once, his school was new and strange to you. The same could be said for most of your boyfriend’s team, since you only knew Tatsuya. But they seemed nice and lovely, so you smiled gently.
After a while, however, the smile on your face turned into a small frown when you felt a hit on your waist and heard a girly laugh.
“Oh, sorry. I didn’t notice you, little one.”
You looked up, noticing a girl slightly taller than you. You nodded at her as you looked inside the room again.
“Are you a fan?” She asked suddenly, drawing your attention again.
“No. Not really...”
“Oh. So... You like someone from basketball team? But you’re not from our school, I’m right?” She chuckled as she adjusted her uniform. “Anyway, you can take anyone but not Murasakibara. I like him. And, you know. I was first.” She added in a confident voice, and you raised an eyebrow and clenched your fists.
‘Is she just...’
“Anyway, bye. I’m going to say ‘hi’ to him.” She add at the end, entering the room, swinging her hips.
Most of the team sighed at the sight of her figure, but your boyfriend was busy yawning though, so he didn’t notice her at first. Coach Araki too.
You also shyly entered the room, clenching your hands on your purse and the phone which was still in your hand. You wanted to call Atsushi, but the tall blonde girl was faster than you and patting him on the back. When he looked at her, she give him a pack of colorful jelly beans and smiled.
“Hello, Atsushi-kun.”
‘Did she greet him by first name?’ Your smile faded even more, and your cheeks flushed with anger. At the same moment your presence was noticed by Himuro and the boy with ashen hair. They immediately approached you.
“Y/N-chan, hi. I thought you were lost or something...” The black-haired man laughed softly and then introduced you to the basketball player next to you, known as Kensuke Fukui.
“... Who is she?” You asked hesitantly, pointing at the girl.
“Murasakibara’s annoying fangirl. But he doesn’t pay attention to she. I mean, he doesn’t even remember her name, so don’t worry.” The new boy you met a few seconds ago truthfully answered, and you sighed.
“I came here especially for Atsu, but now I’m afraid to come up to him...” You muttered a bit sad and also upset, still looking at your tall boyfriend and the unknown young girl who was telling him something with big interest.
“As I said, don’t worry, Y/N-chan. I’ll call him. He will definitely be pleased. You know, he was complaining all day about that you didn’t write back to him.” Tatsuya laughed second time, patting you on the shoulder, then looked at his best friend. “Hey, Atsushi! Look who’s here!”
“Ehh? What's it, Muro-chin?” Your boyfriend turned and the two tall basketball players exposed your tiny body, causing purple-haired center to open his eyes wider. “Y/N-chin...” He handed the pack of jelly beans to the girl standing next to him and ran towards you like a little, happy puppy.
Five steps later he was beside you, hugging you to his warm chest, and you kissed his cheek, laughing loudly.
“Surprise, ‘Sushi.”
“Y/N-chin, what are you doing here, huh?” He grunted, picking you up and hugging you once again. “Do your parents know about this?”
“Well, I missed you so much. Everyone knew except you, because it’s a surprise, baby. Oh, I also have some of your favorite snacks for you. I was able to buy a new flavor... salt caramel or something like that.” You laughed, and his eyes flashed with joy.
“I love you.” He muttered. “I hate jellies and she keeps bringing them to me all the time... I prefer maiubo from you. Aaaand I generally prefer my Chibi-chin. Will you stay with me today?”
“I love you too. And, yes. I will stay for the whole weekend, baby.”
“Mmm. I am very pleased.” He hugged you again and then put you on the ground, placing his big hand on your head. “Want to play with us?”
“If your coach and captain don’t mind...”
“They don’t, come on, Y/N-chin.” He grabbed your smooth hand and walked towards the team. “I will introduce you to everyone.”
“Okay, baby.”
“... And you, young lady, please, leave the sports hall. Only players, coaches, managers and people who are welcome are allowed to enter gym.” Mrs. Araki spoke suddenly with her sword in her hand, and the blonde girl escaped from the huge room a moment later with pinky cheeks.

My 10 favourite... beefcake animes!
Okay yes, I realise that this is a rather weird title. I had originally thought to call it something along the lines of my favourite martial arts or fighting animes, but because the animes don’t always fall into that category, I decided to call a spade, a spade (or a beefcake, a beefcake) and admit that, most times sometimes, I just enjoy animes with muscular guys in them. That’s not to forget the ladies though because some of these shows also feature some rather muscular ladies in the mix too. So there’s something for everyone!
Tumblr media
So, in no particular order (because the genres are sometimes different so making comparisons wouldn’t be fair):
1. Street Fighter series.
Hardly a surprise considering that this is a series that has a legacy firmly placed in the gaming world. Although you don’t really need to know who’s who in order to watch these shows, it doesn’t hurt to know a little about the characters before you jump in - mainly because the creators assume that those who watch it are fans of the show. Expect a fair amount of fighting (the name gives that one away), lots of bromance (Ryu and Ken 4eva!) and the eternal fight of good vs. evil (which is usually the plot of every show/movie)! Even if you aren’t familiar with Ryu & co., the show won’t lead you astray so you can watch without worry. Oh and let me just say - Chun Li is ma gurl! If you want to see a woman that’s not only beautiful but can also kick your ass, then watch these shows - especially Street Fight II the movie!
Tumblr media
2. Hajime no Ippo.
One of my most favourite sports animes of all time which tells the tale of Makunouchi Ippo and his rise up the ranks of the boxing world. He starts off as a kid that just wants to get stronger so that he can fend off the bullies who harass him. Sick of his weak self (and after a couple of incidents here and there), Ippo joins a boxing gym, starting from scratch and going through basic training. His coach sees his potential and helps shape Ippo into a power boxer who fights head on and never backs down from the fight. Throughout the series, we get to know the other boxers in the gym as well as the competitors that they face, and we watch them battle it out in the ring. It’s a story with a great balance of sports, a sprinkling of slice of life (well, the life of a boxer) and comedy. And, of course, boxing boys come with boxing bodies... and I’m not complaining! And if you enjoy this and want more, try either “Ashita no Joe” (old school classic) or it’s more recent spin-off, “Megalo Box”. Oh and in terms of strong women - no one beats Ippo’s mom! She’s a powerhouse!
Tumblr media
3. Baki the Grappler.
More of an MMA vibe with this one - it’s about a kid (he’s like 13 when we first meet him) who has been raised to be a fighter since he was born - his mother gets him the best trainers and equipment money can buy. He eventually feels like he’s outgrown the traditional training method and starts to find other ways to become a better fighter, which includes following his fathers footsteps - training the same way he did and with the people he did - and taking on some of the other fighters he meets along the way. After an altercation with his father (using that term rather lightly), Baki’s path eventually leads to the underground fight scene where challengers can test their strength and face off against each other in an anything-goes type of fight, using whatever techniques, power and skills they have at their disposal. And Baki’s ultimate goal? To defeat his father! It’s got some family drama as the foundation, but when it comes to beefcakes, there’s no shortage here - even if it is a 17-year old kid looking like a grown-ass man. Oh, best to be aware that (excluding the OVAs) there 3 seasons of Baki - the anime series from 2001 and the 2018 Netflix version which covers the "Most Evil Death Row Convicts" arc.
Tumblr media
4. Kengan Ashura.
When I first started watching this, the first thing I thought was - ahhh! this reminds me of Baki! And, indeed, there are quite a few elements that are similar. There isn’t any family drama here but there is an underground fight scene where anything goes in terms of fight style. However, the premise here is that the fighters don’t fight for themselves (well, not officially anyway) but that they fight for various companies who settle their business disputes via these types of organised “kengan” matches. It eventually reaches a situation where some of the other businessmen wish to get rid of the current Kengan chairman, and so this chairman organises a huge battle royale for any companies that wish to enter. The prize? The owner of the winning company gets to be the next chairman! This sets the stage for a number of one-on-one showdowns between the various fighter representatives. In terms of background stories, we have two main protagonists and their stories. The one is about a salaryman (turned “CEO”) and his life, as well his relationship with his son, and the other is about a fighter and the vendetta he holds against another fighter for a past incident. Personally, I love the way the fights are presented in this show - not only because of the eye-candy - but because it really does feel like you’re at a grand show! Oh, and unlike Baki, at least most of the fighers are adults.
Tumblr media
5. Golden Kamuy.
Bring on the boys! Honestly one of the most entertaining shows I’ve watched in a while (and one where I demand that there be another season at least!) and also culturally/historically interesting too. It’s set around the time of the Russo-Japanese war and follows the story of Immortal Sugimoto - a soldier who left active service and finds out that there may be Ainu gold hidden somewhere in Hokkaido. The only problem is that the map has been tattooed in pieces, onto the torsos of various prisoners, most of whom have dispersed to different areas. Nevertheless, thus begins the hunt for the map! Along the way, Sugimoto meets various people along the way - making allies with some and enemies with others - all of whom are associated with each other in interconnecting ways. And all of whom are working toward one goal - get the gold! It’s a brilliant show that’s got some fighting, some mystery, some espionage vibes, some comedy (some of which is could be considered dark and/or weird) and some feels. It balances it all out and makes for an interesting and entertaining watch. Oh, and let’s not forget - a very enjoyable watch too! Mm mm mmm...
Tumblr media
6. All Out!!
Another sport anime here, but this time it’s rugby! As someone from a country where rugby is a staple, national sport, this was totally up my ally! The premise is similar to most other school-based sports animes - a kid who’s self-conscious about his height joins the rugby team and learns to get along with the other boys as he trains and works together with them as part of the team. This is not only so that he can help the team improve, but to also prove his own worth. The team goes through training camps and they play against other schools, getting to know some of the opposing teams’ members and establishing some rivalries along the way. It’s pretty typical fare, but damn are these boys stacked! It’s pretty accurate though since rugby is a contact sport which requires some power (and apparently some short, tight shorts) to get the job done. It’s a light watch, but that eye candy is truly sweet!
Tumblr media
7. Tiger Mask W.
From rugby to wrestling! This actually a continuation of sorts to the original Tiger Mask and Tiger Mask II series, building on the legacy and keeping related in the same sphere, but not directly incorporating the older characters. Unfortunately, the original series is hella hard to get hold of but even without it, you can watch Tiger Mask W without much of an issue. So the story is about a guy who had decided to join a wrestling gym and was pretty happy there until the gym was destroyed by another rival gym. Vowing to take that other gym down, he strikes out on his own and eventually joins one of the national wrestling associations, working in their match roster. But it’s all so that he can reach his goal of taking down that other gym by defeating the players supported by them. Enter into the ring various wrestling friends and both friendly and unfriendly rivals (including an old friend - bromance anyone?) and you get plenty of matches, plenty of muscles and some satisfying action! They also don’t forget the female wrestlers, which is a nice touch! Another one that’s light enough to enjoy at face value - much like how you’d enjoy real wrestling too.
Tumblr media
8. Gifuu Doudou!! Kanetsugu to Keiji.
A historical vibe with this one - it’s actually based on the spin-off of the original manga, “Keiji” which was created by Tetsuo Hara. And if that name doesn’t ring a bell, check number 10 on this list and you’ll know who I’m talking about - that’s right, it’s the guy who worked on Hokuto no Ken - and that should immediately give you an idea as to why this show is on the list. It’s a period piece about the friendship between Maeda Keiji and Naoe Kanetsugu - both of whom found their accomplishments on the battlefield. It’s told in hindsight, where they sit together, have a drink or three and reminisce about their younger days and what it took to get to where they are now. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but it was pretty entertaining - especially when you see just how clever these guys were when it came to political maneuvering as well as in a fight. Of course, they’re pretty high in the beefcake stakes so if you like your men manly, then you’ve come to the right era.
Tumblr media
9. Dragon Ball series.
I’m pretty sure that I don’t have to talk about this anime, but in the interest of completeness, let me give you the wiki breakdown about what this anime is about: “The series follows the adventures of the protagonist, Son Goku, from his childhood through adulthood as he trains in martial arts. He spents his life far from civilization, until he is found by Bloomer, a teen girl who encourages him to explore the world in search of the seven orbs known as the Dragon Balls, which summon a wish-granting dragon when gathered. Along his journey, Goku makes several friends and battles a wide variety of villains, many of whom also seek the Dragon Balls.” (source). Of course, this is continued throughout the various series that follow, where Goku has his own family etc. But when it comes to the muscle factor in this show, it’s got it where it counts - everywhere! It’s a classic for a reason so even if you aren’t into beefcake guys, you should still probably watch it if you haven’t already.
Tumblr media
10. Hokuto no Ken.
It just wouldn’t feel right if I had to leave this off the list because when someone says “manly anime”, I’m betting that 99.9% of the time most people think about Hokuto no Ken / Fist of the North Star. It’s the post-apocalyptic era and times are tough, with everyone fighting to survive with what little there is on the planet. Some guys want to be rulers, some guys want to be thugs, but one guy just wants to find his fiancee and do what he can to right the wrongs of the world and make a difference to the people he meets. That one man is, of course, Kenshiro. It’s full-tilt action, usually incorporating martial arts through the various fighting styles of the characters - whether it’s Hokuto Shinken, Nanto Seiken or sometimes just brute force and good old hand-to-hand combat. There’s a few female characters here and there who also kick ass so it isn’t completely one-sided, but they usually end up getting saved by the dudes so take that with a pinch of salt. Post-apocalyptic world or not, these guys sure can maintain their physiques. And when it comes time for a fight, you best believe they pull no punches! If you like pure fighting animes where you get to see people explode each episode, followed by the most epic line ever said in anime, then this is the one!
Tumblr media
Honourable mentions.
...because, can we really do without more muscular men and women in our lives?
1. Terra Formars - if you’re looking specifically for that muscular vibe, then try season 1. While I enjoyed both, season 1 had better animation (for me) and they all looked badass when defeating those nasty roaches - both the men and the ladies! 2. Hinomaru Sumo - a sports anime that revolves around a newly formed high school sumo club and the career path of the main protagonist. Informative if you don’t know much about sumo and, as expected, loads of meaty guys aiming for victory and aiming for the position of yokozuna. 3. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure - another show that hardly requires an introduction and would probably take way too long to explain considering how many Jojo’s there are, but rest assured, the guys are packed, stacked and ready to attack! 4. One Punch Man - if only because there a few characters who fit the beefcake category perfectly, e.g. Suiryu (hello there!), Garou and Tanktop Master to name a few. An anime that’s some parts serious, some part hilarious but always flipping shounen tropes on its head. 5. Sengoku Basara - also, not completely beefed out, but there are a few characters who would make the grade, e.g. Maeda Keiji (dejavu from number 8?) and Oda Nobunaga. Another period anime, based on a Capcom game, that uses a lot of poetic licence to make it an exciting watch with very memorable characters. 6. Free! - “Make us free na Splash! Kasaneta... 👏 👏 !” Swimmers bodies - that is all. If you’ve ever seen a swimmer’s bodies in real life, you’ll know what I mean ‘cos they have muscles in all the right places. A slice-of-life sports anime that revolves around high school boys (who eventually become college boys) who engage in competitive swimming. 7. Air Master - The ladies take over in this one, which is a show that revolves around street fighting and the goal of those various street fighters and martial artists to become number 1 on the Fukamichi Rankings. It’s more of that underground fight scene vibe but the main protagonist is a gymnast-turned-street fighter who takes on anyone who’ll challenge her (man or woman) and usually kick their ass. It’s got a quirky/weird sense of humour to it, but that’s part of why I liked it.
Well, I’m pretty sure that there are other shows that I’ve missed, and mountains of characters who have that A-grade beef, but I tried to choose shows that specifically have that muscular aesthetic as a default setting in the show. Hopefully I hit the mark here, sharing my faves with you, but if there’s some show or character that I absolutely must see, feel free to let me know! Because just like Tanigaki’s shirt, I’m always open to suggestions.

CHARACTER PROFILE: EMI CAVENDISH
I’ve decided to share the profiles for my two Diakko kiddos that I made a while back. Below is the profile for the younger of the two, Emi! The full profile can be read beneath the cut.
Basic Information
Full Name: Emily Hoshiko Cavendish
Nicknames: Emi, Em
Gender: Female
Date of Birth: March 2nd, 2031
Age: 13
School Team Color: Orange
Aspiration: Become a great broom racer
Horoscope: Pisces
MBTI: ISTP
Loving the rush of adventure, Emi is a natural-born risk-taker and thrill-seeker. She loves the outdoors and will do just about anything for a surge of adrenaline. Being rather reckless, Emi often gets injured during these escapades, but is always quick to shake it off and move onto her next adventure. She is particularly fond of athletics and flying on her broom. She can often be found riding it in places (and at speeds) that she shouldn’t be.
Feeling as though her family’s expectations for her are much lower than the ones they have for her sister, Emi is more of a free spirit. She is very much the type of person to act first and ask questions later—the type of behavior that can often get her caught in sticky situations. However, she’s incredibly bullheaded and hates asking for help or showing any sort of weakness. So whenever she gets herself into problems, she tries to get herself out of them, too.
Emi tends to be a bit of a troublemaker both at home and in school. She loves to pull pranks and jokes on her teachers, peers, and family for her own amusement. Emi hates socializing and has a rather small group of friends. She would rather be out on her own than surrounded by people she doesn’t care about at some party. She has a tendency to be rather loudmouthed, brash, and blunt, which can occasionally come off as her being rude.
Emi often feels as though she’s living in the shadow of giants between Diana being head of the Cavendish family, Akko being a famous performer, and Aya being the incredibly intelligent Cavendish heir apparent. She feels unnoticed or forgotten, and occasionally uses her rebellious behavior to gain attention. She’s more insecure than she wants people to realize, and frequently wonders if she’ll ever be as great as the rest of her family.
Despite her flaws, Emi is actually more kind hearted than she lets on. She keeps the few friends that she has very close, and is loyal to them to a fault. She is very naturally gifted at magic and is actually highly intelligent, but lacks the motivation to do anything with it. She would rather focus on the things that she has fun doing than have her nose stuck in a book.
Appearance
Hair Color: Platinum blonde with tea green highlights.
Hair Texture and Style: Thick waves, on the shorter side. Usually pulled back in a low ponytail.
Eye Color: Periwinkle
Eye Shape: Round
Height: 5’2” (157 cm)
Build: Short and athletic. Well-toned, but with rounder facial features.
Interests and Hobbies
Likes:
Broom flying
Athletics/sports
Exploring/adventure
Pranks/jokes
Risks/thrills
Sour foods
Comedy and action movies
Music (especially rock)
Guitar
Dislikes:
School/books
Sitting around/being bored
Socializing/parties
Romance
Dressing up
Rules
Showing more sensitive emotions
Being called “Emily”
Fears:
Forever living in her family’s shadow
Being seen as a disappointment
Snakes
Relationships
Diana Cavendish: Mother. Although Emi was basically attached to Diana at the hip when she was younger, their relationship has grown more tense as she’s gotten older. Emi has a hard time relating to Diana, and the two often have trouble seeing eye to eye. Diana will be the first person to scold Emi for her reckless behavior out of worry, which only results in Emi biting back and an argument breaking out. Emi worries that Diana views her as a disappointment and a problem child. However, Diana loves Emi far more than she realizes and deep down Emi feels the same.
Atsuko Kagari: Mother. Emi has always had a very close relationship with Akko. Akko is typically the one to defuse fights that Emi gets into with Diana or Aya. Although Emi hates talking about her feelings, she finds it much easier to confide in Akko than she does anyone else. Akko is usually the one to reassure her that she has nothing to worry about and that she and Diana love her and are immensely proud of her. Akko tends to approve of and encourage Emi’s more reckless or dangerous behavior (against Diana’s will), claiming it’s important for her to have fun and try to use it as a learning experience.
Aya Cavendish: Older sister. When they were little, Emi admired and spent a lot of time with her sister. However, as Emi began to realize the expectations that people had of Aya, they began to grow apart. Emi often views Aya as being the “perfect child” or the “favorite child”, even though both facts are entirely untrue. When people aren’t comparing her to her sister, they seem to forget about her existence. As a result, Emi has grown to resent Aya and looks for reasons to pick fights. However, even though she might not show it, there is a part of Emi that still admires how hard Aya works and wishes things could go back to the way they were.
Trivia
- Music is Emi’s guilty pleasure. She loves to blast loud rock music from her bedroom (much to the dismay of most people living in the Cavendish Manor). She is even teaching herself how to play the guitar.
- While Emi has been able to understand Japanese fluently since a young age, she rarely speaks it and can hardly read more than basic hiragana. The only person she’ll occasionally speak Japanese to is Akko. If Aya tries to speak to her in Japanese, she’ll respond in English and call her pretentious.
- Emi is incredibly afraid of snakes—a fear that was brought on by Daryl’s pythons roaming around the manor. She claims that they look at her as though they want her to be their dinner.
- Although Diana was the one to give Emi the name “Emily”, Akko was the one who started calling her “Emi” as a nickname. It eventually stuck. When writing Emi’s nickname in Japanese, Akko uses the kanji “恵美”.
- Emi deeply admires Amanda O’Neil, looking up to her as a role model. This stresses Diana out beyond belief.
- Flying is Emi’s absolute favorite activity and she hopes to one day make a name for herself by becoming a great broom racer.

request: Would you write an Iwaizumi Hajime imagine where in HS he had a massive crush on Karasuno's female soccer captain since their second year when he met her because she is best friends with Matsukawa's cousin who goes to Seijoh and was close with the Karasuno VB team so she went to their games and when he starts University, he finds out that she goes to the same one and they get together? {from @ofrosesandteacups}
a/n: this is so so so specific and detailed, I love it! I wasn’t super able to figure out a way to incorporate being close to the Karasuno VB team (and I’m not sure if you meant that for y/n or not) but I hope you like it anyhow! I played around with a new style and I hope it worked well :) lmk what you think! Thank you for your patience, also, and I have my fingers crossed that it was worth the wait :))
notes: this isn’t edited for mistakes so beware. requests are open :) find my masterlist here
pairing: iwaizumi hajime x fem!reader | genre: fluff | warnings: none :) | word count: 2,058
Tumblr media
The first time Iwaizumi Hajime ever saw you, he was mid-stretch in preparation for a small match with Karasuno and you were doubled over with fat tears streaming down your face. It caught him completely off guard. It concerned him, too, wondering if you had just been broken up with by one of the Crows seeing as you were wearing a Karasuno jacket. Though, upon closer inspection, the jacket belonged not to the Karasuno volleyball team, but to their soccer team which only served to further his confusion. It didn’t make much sense that a pretty girl from the soccer team would be supporting her school’s boy’s volleyball team that had practically no fanbase.
And then there was you -- who Hajime didn’t see as having any reason to be there -- straightening up with a huge grin spread across your face as you wiped at the tears with the back of your hand, chatting with a girl in front of you. The smile caught him off guard, too. He’s never seen something so open and genuine and carefree before. He may not have known you, but he instantly knew that he would do anything to see that smile again.
The second time Hajime saw you was at a post-Saturday-practice dinner that he thought was just going to be him, Oikawa, Hanamaki, and Matsukawa. They were at their favorite local place, a little ways out of the way from Seijoh, but Oikawa swore up and down that the walk to it was a good cool down after a hard practice rewarded by delicious food. The rest of them swore up and down that it was because Oikawa liked to flirt with the people that worked there.
Hajime was hunched over a large bowl of ramen (“You sure you can eat that much, Iwa-chan?” Oikawa teased. “Shut it, Shittykawa, I’m hungry as hell,” he grunted. “You know, Oikawa, it’s the biggest boys who have the biggest appetites, if you know what I mean,” Hanamaki said with a wink. Hajime fought back a smile at Oikawa’s squawk as he shoved Matsukawa into Hanamaki) when the high twinkle of the bell tipped off at the entrance of the door, a familiar girl prancing in with you trailing behind. Hajime noticed sweat beaded high on your forehead, the sheen casting an angelic glow about you.
Mattsun noticed you both and introduced the two of you -- the girl was his cousin, Matsukawa Himeko, and a player for Seijoh’s soccer team. You were a player for Karasuno’s, the two of you meeting and immediately hitting it off at a training camp in your first year. (Though Hajime must admit that his eyes and ears only really processed what Mattsun said about you.)
You all continued to eat together. Hajime was staring at you, but he was trying his best not to. There was just something so magnetic about you that it made him feel like he had no other option than to look at you. Not like he would have wanted it any other way.
You caught his eye and grinned, secretively and warmly, lips spread across pearly teeth promising to keep the slip-up between the two of you.
Hajime’s heart jumped, shivers of electricity running down his spine.
The third time was at another game, this time a soccer game that Mattsun had dragged their group out to because he had lost a bet to Himeko and didn’t want to ‘suffer’ alone. Hajime was immediately suspicious as Matsukawa was never the type to care over ‘suffering alone’. In fact, he sounded like he was mocking Oikawa and Oikawa, for once, didn’t complain about it, he only wickedly grinned in Hajime’s direction. For the life of him, Hajime couldn’t understand what they knew that he didn’t but then he was being distracted by the cheers and jeers alike erupting from the spectators.
It was easy to spot you, Himeko having told them to be on the lookout for her jersey number and yours. You guys had worn matching numbers since your first year, at first a coincidence that birthed a wonderful friendship but now a continued tradition. Karasuno’s black and orange looked incredible against your skin, the colors emboldened by the confidence and ease in which you carried yourself while thrown into the depths of a game’s battlefield. You had played wonderfully, effortlessly supporting and scoring goals and cheering on your teammates. You had all of the qualities he would expect of a second-year vice captain. Stunning and regal and light-hearted all at once. Simply incredible.
Hajime didn’t notice, but when you had walked over to greet their group with Himeko, Oikawa, Makki, and Mattsun all had sly grins spread over their lips.
The fourth time was months after your third year had started. There hadn’t been any games to attend -- a fact Hajime lamented -- and so there hadn’t been any reason, any convenient excuse, for Hajime to see you. Yet he didn’t need to see you to still have his mind occupied by you. The two of you had had so few interactions, most of them short and yet so incredibly, impossibly sweet. They were all he could think about, the allure that you offered. And, he didn’t know it, but it was much the same of how you felt.
You were in the hallway outside of the tournament gym waiting with Himeko to congratulate them on their successful game. Hajime was shocked to see you, pausing slightly in his steps before trying to hide a grin and the tips of his burning ears. You smiled and Hajime forgot all about trying to hide his own as he easily returned yours, not giving it a thought beyond instinct.
You congratulated him on his game and he congratulated you on your elected captainship though Oikawa swooped in and rode on his congratulations. Hajime would have been mad if he wasn’t content simply being able to talk to this magnetic girl once again.
An easy casual friendship blossomed from then on. Whenever Himeko was with them, you were sure to be there, too, magnetic smile and all. You all had started to make it a tradition to attend every game that you could. Because you were from a different school -- a rival school, no less -- it was harder for them to attend your games and for you to attend theirs but you did every chance you could. Because of the physical distance, it was harder for Hajime to grow closer to you but he was more than happy being able to say hi to you every once in a while than not at all.
The next time he saw you, third year had blinked by in a blur and suddenly you all were college first years, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and nervous, too. You had all been too busy with your respective sports and worrying over college entrance exams to really do much of anything besides an occasional congratulatory or comforting text for when they were due. So Hajime was beyond speechless to hear your laugh halfway across the globe. He had fully stopped in his tracks, desperately trying to decide if he was crazy and hearing things or just incredibly lucky that his long time crush was here with him in a foreign land.
“Y/n?” He called in disbelief, still trying to wrap his head around that you being here at his school was even a possibility.
Your smile dropped just the slightest, confusion taking over as you looked from your conversation to find the source of your name, not many people knowing it as you had only been there for a little less than a week. And then it fell completely when you spotted Hajime, his own disbelief overriding your previous emotions. “Iwaizumi?” You replied, quiet and shy, not sure that you were really seeing the beautiful boy in front of you.
“No way,” he said, a blinding grin that you had never seen completely taking over his features.
Your friend gave you a knowing smile. “I’ll leave you two alone,” they said, patting your shoulder as they left.
You didn’t have time to dwell on that odd smile before you were running over to Iwaizumi, meeting him halfway and lightly punching him in the arm. “You dog! I cannot believe you didn’t tell me you were coming to America!”
He laughed, playfully rubbing at the spot, “I could say the same thing about you.”
“Even the dog part?” You raised an eyebrow.
“After that punch? Especially the dog part.”
You laughed, still shoving him in retaliation before locking him in a huge embrace. Hajime was stunned. Though you shared a handful of friends and surely were friends yourself, you two had never hugged quite like this. There were more awkward side-hugs and weak high fives than Hajime cared to admit, but nothing quite as solid and grounding and purely wonderful as this. You almost pulled away, worried that he didn’t like the hug, and then Hajime was squeezing you back, holding on for dear life.
You two stayed like that for a while, until the sun had started to set. You were two friends longing for home and for each other and you couldn’t tell which one felt further away.
There was nothing like being strangers together in a foreign world to bring two friends closer. Before, you were both polite with secret glances and harbored feelings on the side. Now, you had no filter with obvious glances and harbored feelings growing exponentially. The friendship blooming between you two was natural and anchoring and dangerous as Hajime could feel himself falling deeper and deeper. To think that you used to be just a girl with a charming smile he had a schoolboy crush on and now you were a woman with a contagious laugh he had fallen helplessly in love with.
There were many nights where you two stayed up together whether it was studying in the library until closing; kicking a soccer ball around and laughing at each other; talking about anything and everything until your roommates begged you to shut up; bumping a volleyball while shouting the scientific names for anatomy; snorting loudly at cheesy movies and crunching away at burnt popcorn.
It was the quiet things, the small things, the non-monumental things that had Hajime seeing you in a brighter light. It was the way that you were his personal piece of home.
It was the way that he was yours.
You were sprawled out on his bed, papers and textbooks scattered around you, pen clenched in your hand as you drummed your other fingers. He had been hunched over his desk, staring and yet, no matter how hard he tried, not absorbing what was in front of him. He glanced over to you, his frown instantly melting into a small smile at the way your eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
“You remind me of home,” he said, gently and suddenly and yet naturally. He hadn’t meant to say it, only think it, but the flash in your eyes made it worth it.
“I do?” He nodded. “In what way?”
In the way that you make me feel safe, in the way that I feel grounded with you, in the way that I ache for you, in the way that I love you.
Hajime looked you in the eyes, searching for what you were really asking. He thought that by now there was no way that you could surprise each other, that you both were each other’s best friend. But he still couldn’t tell what you were asking him. He followed his heart like he so often does with you. “In the way that I’d always like to return to you.”
It was a long moment of just looking at each other, Hajime feeling as if he might not ever breathe again, you feeling as if you could fly. “I didn’t know you were so good with words,” you grinned. “Oikawa always did call you a brute.” And the disbelief of the first day was back before Hajime was throwing a highlighter at you. You laughed, dodging it, coming back to return his gaze softly. “Yes,” you said quietly.
He furrowed his brows. “Yes to what?”
“I’ll be your home.”
“You have been,” he admitted.
“Since when?”
He grinned. “Since second year.”

how do you know what class you're in?
Your social class in the UK?
I think it’s really hard to define, and I honestly think most people in the UK “just know”- although I also sort of know that’s a stupid thing to say.
There are economic factors and there are cultural factors, and it’s also down to your family history. And there are classes within classes too- you can be upper middle class, or upper working class, for example.
The following is semi-serious, semi tongue in cheek, and I’d love my followers to chip in too!
Working class: Your family have traditionally worked in non-professional jobs. These might be skilled trades, service/hospitality jobs, “unskilled” jobs or casual work. These days, they might be self employed, but they would be unlikely to employ someone else. There are varying degrees of financial comfort, and these days, your family may own their own home but you’re not “wealthy”. It’s unlikely your family have assets or investments beyond one property and cars (if they are doing well). If you’re younger than about 35, you or your siblings might have gone to university, but no-one in your parents’ generation has. Your parents probably have a degree of debt beyond a mortgage (if they have one). You probably spent time in childcare when you were young because your parents had to work.
You probably speak with a regional accent and use dialect words. You also use words like serviette, desert, pardon etc. Someone in your family is really into football and supports a team that isn’t in the premiership- if they are into rugby then it’s rugby league unless you’re from Wales or Cornwall. Your female relatives are probably quite house-proud and take a lot of care over their appearances. You probably have a hobby, but it’s probably not one that requires a lot of expensive equipment.
Family and community are important to you- it’s likely you haven’t moved that far from where you grew up (unless you were really desperate for work). It’s possible the area where you grew up is pretty deprived, although it may be increasingly a victim of gentrification, depending on where you are from. Your family home may have been a council house or rented, and it’s very likely that your housing didn’t always feel secure.
If you celebrate Christmas, this was probably really important to your family and your parents might have gone a bit overboard with this, even (especially) if they couldn’t afford it.
At some point in your life, you’ve used the word “scab” as an insult- even if you didn’t know what it meant.
Middle Class: Your family have traditionally worked in more professional jobs. These may not require a degree (especially historically), but we are talking things like accountant, lawyer, doctor, teacher, civil servant etc. They earned a salary rather than being paid by the hour. Some degree of their assets were probably inherited, and they may have some investments e.g. shares or a buy to let property, but this isn’t the whole of their income (unless they are retired and have a decent pension too). Your parents owned their own home, and are/will be mortgage free by the time they retire. You probably had regular foreign holidays growing up. Your parents are likely to save up for big ticket items, rather than get into debt. You’re not the first generation in your family where people went to university. It’s very likely you had a stay at home parent for part of your childhood.
If you speak with a regional accent, it’s probably pretty soft, and it’s likely you don’t use a lot of regional dialect words. You call your midday meal lunch, and your evening meal dinner. If you go to the pub to watch a sports match, it’s more likely to be the six nations than a football game. But it’s equally likely you aren’t into sport at all. Your parents probably made you get swimming and music lessons growing up, and you may well have a hobby- possibly one that requires a bit of financial investment on your part. You like to think you have a sense of style, but you don’t like to look like you are “trying too hard”.
Your family probably don’t all live in the same place, and you may only see them relatively rarely. It’s likely your parents have friends from uni or NCT classes who to some extent take the place of family in your life. You may not have a strong sense of community and it’s very possible that if your parents live rurally, you might have moved to the city for work. You’re probably not very religious.
At some point in your life, you have sneered at someone for being a “chav”. It’s likely you’re quite insecure and there’s lots of things you don’t think of as “classy” and try to avoid.
Upper-middle Class: Your parents are pretty wealthy and almost definitely went to university. You went to a well known university. They likely went to private school and you probably did too (although not a super famous one). If you didn’t go to private school, you went to a grammar school, church school or the most sought after “comp” in the county (your parents probably moved house to get you in). Someone in your extended family or friendship circle owns a second home, or at least a really nice house in the country. You/your parents almost definitely have inherited wealth and assets, as well. You/your parents may just work in a well paid job, but they may also own a medium to large size company. You probably had multiple holidays abroad each year (and it’s very likely you went skiing). If one of your parents’ cars broke down, it would have been very easy for them to replace it, without needing to save up or get into debt, but you don’t have any fear of debt, either. It’s very likely you can get a job through “connections”. It’s likely they employed a cleaner and possibly a gardener, and maybe au-pair or nanny as well.
You speak with an RP accent, and you might have “pudding” after your “supper”. It’s very likely you play a team sport of some kind, probably rugby, cricket, hockey or maybe lacrosse. You might row, or ride horses, or sail. You’ve always been able to do whatever expensive hobby you like, and money has never been a barrier to progressing. You may well shop in charity shops, and brag about the bargains you find there. You may drive an “old” car, but it’s probably a 4x4, genuinely vintage, or quirky in some other way. You have inherited jewellery and possibly some home furnishings. If you’re talented in some way, (sport or artistic) you were probably given every opportunity to persue this.
Networking is important to you and you feel part of a community. You’re probably quite socially confident. It’s likely you know some of the people you work with socially as well. You probably expect to live a reasonably traditional lifestyle, and you’re less likely to be part of a “sub-culture” (unless you’re making a career as an actor or a musician). You probably observe religious festivals, but you don’t go regularly to a place of worship.
On some level, you probably think “poor” people bring it on themselves through poor decision making.
Upper Class: Historically, your family were rich enough not to have to work for a living, and someone in your extended family owns a very large amount of land. You’re related to someone with a title. You went to a well known private school and you may have boarded. It’s likely your family own multiple properties- some are rented out and some you live in. Some or all of these were inherited, rather than bought. You may have a “private income” of some kind. Your family may have had to “diversify” in recent years, and you may actually be working more than your ancestors did. You might have gone to a well known university, or you might have gone to somewhere like RAU. Your family own multiple cars, and one of them is probably a 4x4. It’s likely your family employed “staff”. At some point since the second world war, your family may well have had to sell off property etc- but your money worries are “how do we avoid selling off land” not “how do we afford to replace the washing machine”.
You talk like you are from the 1940s, and everyone you know has a stupid sounding nickname. You use your own form of impenetrable slang- probably specific to whatever school you went to. You’ve probably been hunting and you know someone who plays polo. You go to events like Royal Ascot, Henley Regatta, the Boat Race and Goodwood etc. You ski. You’ve been on multiple long haul holidays, and you probably went on a “Gap Yah”.
Everyone you know knows everyone else you know and you’re suspicious of people who you don’t have acquaintances in common with. You’ll get married, in a church (you are CofE and white) and having children is fairly important to you. You’re probably involved with some kind of charity work.
You pride yourself on not being a snob, because you got on well with the people you met in Africa, but you’ve never actually spoken to someone who grew up in a council house.

Shiratorizawa Academy is known as one of the top schools in the prefecture, not only because do their students excel in sports; they make sure that they excel in academics as well. Students are expected to perform their best, especially those who were accepted through the school’s sports scholarships.
Student workloads increase as they reach their second year and third year, while the first years were still lightly breezing their way through high school.
So when morning practice came (Y/n) was quite surprise when most, if not all, the upperclassmen regulars were looking quite sluggish. They were quiet, as she had observed from her spot on the bench, as they entered the gym already in their practice clothes and started stretching.
She blinks, surveying the area to look for her fellow first year to see that he was as energetic as ever. Nevertheless, she just shook her head, dismissing it as some sort of morning blues; morning practice starts quite early so she understands if they were wishing that they were still in bed.
However, when afternoon practice came, she can still see that they were still looking a bit tired, stressed, was what she would call it. They seem to be back to their normal state however, as Tendou was already bothering the others like he normally did.
“Ne, ne” she called, catching Goshiki’s attention “Are the senpais okay?”
Goshiki blinks at her question, as he stood beside her observing them himself. Unfortunately, Goshiki was not blessed with the same skill set as her so he just shrugs his shoulders and said, “They seem fine”
“No, no. They look…” she paused for a moment as if trying to look for the right words to say “…tense”
Goshiki hummed, rubbing his chin “Now that you mention it, Shirabu-san does look a bit cranky than usual”
“Right? Right?”
“But Ushijima-san’s looking fresh as ever though” he pointed out as they turned their attention to the said captain, who as usual was donning that serious and intense look on his face as he talks to Semi. They sweatdrop, before turning to look at each other.
“It’s probably because they have more requirements than us, I remember Tendou-san complaining about another research paper yesterday”
They stayed quiet for a moment before (Y/n) spoke up “What do you say we throw them a surprise party?”
He turned to look at her in surprise, as she continued to explain “We haven’t done anything fun since the training camp and I’m sure the senpais would like to have a break once in a while”
At this, Goshiki immediately agreed to her suggestion, she claps her hands in delight before she started to write the idea in her notebook.
“We’ll talk about it later at dinner, but for now, let’s keep this a secret okay?” he nodded his head, jogging back to the court as Coach Saito blew the whistle, signifying that break was over.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
Later that evening, the two of them sat at a table separate from the ones the other regulars were using. Normally, they would eat their meal with them, however, they need to start planning early if they want that party to be a success. By now, they had already picked out the date, choosing the last day of the month as it was a day off for the team, decorations had already been decided as well as the food they were going to serve.
“But, where are we going to get the money though?” Goshiki questioned as he read through the plans.
(Y/n) drummed her fingers on the table, biting her lip. Racking her brain for any ideas to raise money.
“Good evening Goshiki-kun, (L/n)-chan” they turned their head to look at the voice to see a familiar face.
“Good evening Higuchi-san” they greeted back, giving the girl a light bow. Watching the female’s retreating figure as she walks away, taking a seat at the table her friends are occupying.
“Doesn’t she have a crush on Kawanishi-san?”
 (Y/n)’s eyebrows furrowed “She does?”
Goshiki nodded his head “I remember she asks me for a picture of him before, she even offered to pay me just for a single shot…“ Goshiki paused, his eyes going wide before he turned his head to the girl beside him.
“You know what I’m thinking right?!” he asks excitedly as (Y/n) nodded her head vigorously, immediately writing it down on her notebook
Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Reon watched the two with curiosity “What are they doing?” he asks, turning to look at the people sitting with him.
“They’ve been busy talking since practice was over” Yamagata answered, watching Goshiki talking animatedly, his hands moving around making weird gestures as (Y/n) nodded her head. Occasionally writing on the notebook she brought with her as if taking note of everything he was saying.
“They didn’t even eat their food” Shirabu pointed out as they all turned to look to see that indeed, not a single one of the dishes on their tray was touched. The food tray looked liked it was pushed aside as the two of them were too busy talking to each other.
Letting out a sigh, Semi cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted “Oi! Eat your dinner first before doing anything else!”
This caught the duo’s attention as they immediately abandoned their little conversation and started gobbling down their food.
“You don’t have to yell at them you know” Tendou tutted, wagging his finger at him.
Semi clicked his tongue in response before finishing his dinner “If they don’t eat anything, they’re going to keep bothering me to give them a snack later”
“They’re bothering you because they know you’d give in anyways” Yamagata teased, grinning at him.
“You should really stop babying them Semi-san” Kawanishi added, giving him a blank look.
“…and you should not buy too many of those snacks, they are unhealthy” Ushijima just stared at him as the others snickered.
“All of you, shut up”
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
Days already went by and Goshiki and (Y/n) decided to put their plan into action. The first few days were used to gather the money they needed, Goshiki was in charge of taking the pictures while (Y/n) was tasked of looking for buyers, it wasn’t even hard considering that majority of Shiratorizawa’s female population and a few from the male have a crush on either one of the boys in the volleyball team.
Goshiki, however, was having some trouble, he had to sneak around so he could get a few exclusive shots since the girls were more than willing to pay a very high price just to have a shirtless picture of either one of them. He got caught, once or twice, but he told them that it was just for a scrapbook project for his English class.
That earned him a few suspicious looks from Shirabu.
“They’re onto me you know” Goshiki said one day, as they met up during lunch to discuss the progress of their plans.
(Y/n) just hummed in response, swiping through the pictures he took “Don’t worry, they won’t find out”
She handed to him back his phone as she opened her bento box and placed it in between them “We have enough money now, so we can start buying the things we need”
Goshiki nodded his head, taking a piece of egg roll from their shared lunch.
“I also told Sagae-kun about our little fundraising project and he told me he had a female friend who wants to take a picture with you” she wiggled her eyebrows at him, her voice teasing as a blush slowly appears on his cheeks.
“R-really?” he asks, not even daring to look at her in the eye.
“Uh-huh” she leaned in closer to him, whispering in his ear “She said that she watched you play so many times before, she even said you were cool”
She leaned back, eyeing the boy as he gaped at her. She chuckled patting his back.
“We’ll meet up with her later so keep you bangs tidy, okay ace?”
She let out a laugh as Goshiki rapidly nodded his head before stuffing his face with his lunch.
And so later that evening, after practice, Goshiki and (Y/n) hurriedly stuffed their belongings into their bag as they speed walk out of the gym to meet up with Sagae at the gate. However, this didn’t go unnoticed by the other regulars because once they were out of the door, Tendou called out.
“You two are in a hurry, where are you going?” they turned around to see the others walking over to them.
“We’re just going out to buy something” (Y/n) scratch her cheek as they just stared at them, giving them a look that clearly says they weren’t buying it. She nudges Goshiki with her shoulder as he immediately followed with his own reason.
“I-it’s for our project” the fact that he just stuttered was enough to convince them that indeed they were lying.
“It’s already 9 pm, curfew is in an hour” Ushijima stared them down, they gulped. The look on his face was scary and he wasn’t even trying, that natural intense and firm look he has had never been a problem before, so they wondered why right now they were getting scared.
“We’ll be back by 10 promise!” they didn’t even wait for a response as the both of them dashed towards the gate, grabbing Sagae by the arm who had been nervously watching the exchange and ran out of the school campus.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
The next day, Semi looked around the gym to see that they were missing a few people, notably their first-year manager and their proclaimed future ace.
“Something wrong?” Reon walks up to him as the setter just keeps on looking around the room.
“It’s been 30 minutes since practice started and (Y/n) and Goshiki aren’t here yet” he answered, as Reon also looked around, just noticing that the two weren’t actually present.
“They’re in detention right now” they heard Kawanishi answered, as he walk towards them with Shirabu in tow.
Reon and Semi’s eyes widened in shock “Ha?!”
Shirabu sighed, placing a hand on his hip as he explained “Apparently, those two idiots came back around 11 pm, so they had to call the guard to let them in”
Semi facepalmed as Reon just shook his head, before walking away.
Thirty minutes later, the two missing first years came in through the door panting, yelling out a greeting to the people inside.
Stomping over to them, Semi grabbed them by the collar of their shirt and dragged them to the corner of the gym.
“Explain” was all he said, crossing his arms as he watches the two exchange looks.
“I uh-uh” the both of them couldn’t even form any words as their mind went blank. By now, Yamagata, Tendou and Shirabu had joined Semi, and with the three additional pairs of eyes, it became too much for them.
Fortunately, the gods were feeling a bit nice today.
“Tsutomu, go do 100 serves!” Washijo-sensei yelled.
“(Y/n), I need your notes from last week” Coach Saito called, as the two immediately excuse themselves and ducked away from the four. Letting out a sigh of relief, thankful for the distraction.
After that little incident, they were required to give detailed information whenever they were out doing something that was a little too questionable, this tested their creativity in making up elaborate excuses to cover up for their actions. They had probably explored every inch of the school grounds as they try to find the safest place to hide as they make the decorations, to avoid any more questions.
Finally, the day of the party came, and since there was no practice, (Y/n) had to convince Coach Saito to let her borrow the gym keys. It wasn’t hard considering the fact that he was busy talking to the phone when she approaches him. She didn’t even have to explain herself when he immediately handed her the keys and shooed her out of the faculty room.
“Dinner is served at 7 pm so we need to be done by then” Goshiki said as they make their way to the gym, carrying the boxes filled with their decorations. It was already 4 pm and the students were using this time to study while those who have clubs were already practicing.
“I’ll pick up the food later at 5:30” entering the gym, they close the door behind them and immediately started decorating.
Goshiki was in charge of hanging the streamers and lights since he was the tallest between the two and the only one who could reach inaccessible places, while (Y/n) prepared the table and chairs. Covering them with cloths she borrowed from the drama club and started skirting it, creating some light frills to make it look less plain.
Two hours later, the two of them were finally done. The table was already set up with foods, drinks, and eating utensils while the firefly lights from above flickered, as a soft tune from the speaker played in the background. They stood at the side, watching the result of their hard work, still not believing that they were able to complete it all with just the two of them.
“Now, all we have to do is call them” Goshiki shot (Y/n) a grin as she mirrored him.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
“This is tiring” Tendou complained, laying his head on the table, taking out the hair clip from his hair and placing it on top of his book. Currently, they were in Ushijima’s room, having a group study for an upcoming major exam, and since all of them were scholarship holders, they have to get grades higher than the required average.
Looking up from his notes, Ushijima turned to look at the time to see that it was already 6:20 pm, and they had been studying since 3:00 pm.
“Let’s take a break, we will resume after dinner”
With that, they abandoned their study materials and started scrolling through their phone, when a message from Goshiki came through their group chat. It was a picture of (Y/n) laying on the floor with her eyes close.
‘She passed out! We’re in the gym right now, please help’
Was all he sent before they were immediately running out of the room, not even bothering to ask him for more details. Once they were out of the dorm building, they were met with an equally worried Shirabu and Kawanishi and by the look on their face, it was clear that they had read the message as well.
So they run across the campus, reaching the gym in record time.
“(Y/n) are you alri-“
“SURPRISE!” they stop in their tracks, staring at the two first years standing in the middle of the gym, wide smiles on their face.
“What’s going on?” they ran to the two, inspecting for any injury.
“What’s all these?” Reon gestured to the decorations, as the others waited for them to explain.
“We notice that you guys were looking so stress so we decided to throw you a surprise party” (Y/n) explained, suddenly feeling shy.
“You two did all these for us?” Semi asks in disbelief as the two nodded their head, beside him, Tendou wiped a tear from his eye before tackling the two for a hug.
“You guys are the best kohais ever!” was all he said as the others immediately followed suit and the hug immediately became a messy tangled of limbs. A few more tears were shed, mainly from Shirabu and Kawanishi, but they wouldn’t even admit that anyway, while Yamagata and Tendou just wailed. Semi, Ushijima and Reon who were a bit more in control with their emotions, tightened their arms around the group.
“Come on, come on let’s eat” pulling away, Goshiki started pushing them towards the table as they stare at it in awe.
All of the dishes displayed on the table were all their favorite, as they had noted, with two cakes at the side and a few drinks. Gathering around the table, they said their thanks and started eating. Filling their plate with different kinds of food, not wanting to waste the effort their precious juniors had made.
From the sideline, Goshiki and (Y/n) observe the lively chatter their seniors were making, taking in the smiles on their faces.
Feeling a hand on their head they look up to see Ushijima giving them one of his rare smiles “Thank you” was all he said, there was no need for any long speech because just one look at him was enough to confirm that he was grateful for the surprise.
Grinning at each other, they shared a fist bump before they too started piling food on their plate.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
“So where did you get the money?” Semi questioned, turning his body away from the table to look at them.
The two stayed quiet for a moment, not knowing what to say.
“We did a few odd jobs here and there” was Goshiki’s answer, as he let out a nervous laugh, elbowing (Y/n) to the side who almost spit out her drink in surprise.
“That’s the 15th lie you’ve told us this month, tell us the truth” Shirabu gave them a pointed look, daring them to tell another lie.
(Y/n) and Goshiki gaped at him, who knew he was actually counting.
“Well?” by now, everyone was already looking at them, and having no way out, and no more excuses to tell, they blurted out.
“Wesoldexclusivephotosofyoutoyourfans”
They blink, not understanding a single thing (Y/n) said. Taking in a deep breath, she looks at them in the eye and repeated.
“We sold exclusive photos of you to your fans”
The silence lasted for a whole minute before Tendou decided to say something “Really? That’s cool!”
“Are they high quality?” Ushijima followed, a look of genuine interest on his face.
“You’re not even concerned as to what kind of pictures they sold?” Reon said exasperatedly.
“How much did you sell it for?” Kawanishi questioned, as he looks at the two.
“Around 800 to 1,000 yen”
“You should’ve charged higher”
Semi shook his head at what Yamagata said, giving them a disapproving look.
“You’re all bad influence, every single one of you”

JAZMINE HARPER - TV TROPES
manipulative bastard
The Manipulative Bastard is the master manipulator of people, in essence, a character who manipulates others through their emotions, perspectives, psychologies and any other way they can get them dancing to their tune. This is the guy or gal who gets off on playing head/mind games—clever and dangerous and lacking comedic overtones (usually). She always has a plan ready, but rather than do any work, the Manipulative Bastard prefers to play on other characters' emotions and mental states and then watch the victims destroy themselves as they waste their energy on fighting against fake dangers or their friends.
are we surprised? with a lack of loyalty to others, including her own family, jazmine will gladly step on others and use their weaknesses to her advantage to get what she wants. she’s been a manipulative bastard since she was a child, ever since she first discovered how much her mist control could control the perceptions of others. observant and resourceful, jazmine has no qualms using her talents to gain unauthorized information about others and using it for her personal gain. she views people as her pawns, and her selfish way of thinking gives her little guilt about physically or mentally forcing others into submission. this is a trait she’s picked up from her own father, which we will delve into in the next trope.
daddy’s little villain
mention of emotional abuse tw
She's the daughter of an Evil Overlord, who shares her parent's ambition, cunning, and cruelty. She could be anything from a simple Spoiled Brat to an Overlord in waiting. She's also likely to be a Princess (since even villainy is improved with that), although she will still prefer wearing black or dark colors over pink.
jazmine’s mortal father can largely be thanked for the way she is now. from as young as she can remember, he was training jazmine to be a powerful force in both the demigod and mortal world. while he raised her to think she could accomplish anything she worked toward, she was mostly a pawn to satisfy his thirst for power. he didn’t care much for her as a daughter; mostly for what she could do for him. she started to recognize this during her formative middle school years, consequently turning her childhood role model into her worst enemy. when she started rebelling against him and acting out, he sent her away full-time to a camp on the other side of the globe. since then, the issues only progressed, eventually leading to a falling out in which she hasn’t seen or spoken to her mortal family in many years.
this upbringing has fueled her desire to constantly be the best in her fields of expertise, which is partly why she quested for years in hopes of some type of recognition. with the heavily hidden hope that she could one day rub in his face that she had succeeded without him, all her life she has fought to try to ‘prove her worth’ to others despite being the daughter of a minor goddess (or titan). because her father only loved what she could do for him, she places everyone in two categories: the puppets, and the puppeteers.
and she will never be the puppet again.
broken ace
He's tall, charming, strikingly good-looking, well-spoken in five languages, and classically trained in even more instruments. But inside, he's an ugly, writhing mass of self-hatred and Parental Issues. Expect him to have at least one bizarre trait or ability that should not be overlooked, as well as an unhealthy attitude about love, life, and humanity in general. He most likely doesn't have anyone that loves or respects him for what he really is. This may be justified. This character is usually male, but not always. Also, he may just be a perfectionist crumbling under his own standards. The chief difference between the Broken Ace and the usually female Stepford Smiler is that the Stepford Smiler wants to appear normal at all costs, often to the point of hurting herself emotionally (or because she's sociopathic). This guy has the same setup, but is more talented and wants to be the best, loved by all, and accepted.
although the timeline wasn’t as accelerated as she had hoped when she was a child, jazmine was making waves in the world of deities before her last quest against zeus had occurred. now, as a semi-retired quester, she is captain of the football team and starting to make a name for herself in the mortal fields of business and sports. despite the air of nonchalant superiority that she constantly tries to present, she is in a constant state of despair. right when she starts to undergo some development in her relationships with others, they leave, and she is constantly failing her own impossibly high standards. she’s crumbling, and at any point she is ready to run away again.
ice queen
Much like a Tomboy, the Ice Queen is a major character archetype which is somewhat hard to define. Her signature characteristic is that she is cold; the ambiguity comes from what "cold" means. She has a cold heart, a frosty demeanor and very often a resting bitch face; she attracts but will never be wooed. The Ice Queen is considered dangerous to love because she will not (or cannot) love back. She's not much for friendship either, preferring to be alone. Situations where an Ice Queen "thaws" and learns to enjoy the company of others are so common that they have their own trope.
she’s cold and takes no shit. she holds people at a distance, even those that could potentially be considered friends. she doesn’t believe in unconditional love, and she believes that most affection direct toward her is generally a ruse to get her guard down. she’s unnecessarily rude to others, almost relishing in the negative reactions at times, but to her, she’s just keeping it real.
the trickster
A trickster is a character who plays tricks or otherwise disobeys normal rules and conventional behavior. The Trickster openly questions and mocks authority, encourages impulse and enthusiasm, seeks out new ideas and experiences, destroys convention and complacency, and promotes chaos and unrest. At the same time, the trickster brings new knowledge, wisdom and many An Aesop. Even when punished horribly for his effrontery, his indomitable spirit (or plain sheer foolishness) keeps him coming back for more. Tricksters can be anything from gods of chaos, bedeviling heroes for a few laughs, to master manipulators who use cruel ploys and sadistic choices. They can also be heroes (or more likely Anti-Heroes) who make up for a lack of strength or bravery with manipulation, planning, or just plain cheating. The trickster is often a Master of Disguise and may have magical or super-powers. They're often found Walking the Earth.
although this description was much more relevant when she was younger, jazmine has a penchant for drama and chaos. she genuinely has fun engaging in pranks and tricks, and she gladly lifts a symbolic middle finger to authority in any chance that she gets. in middle school, she was nearly expelled from a mortal school because of all her tricks, and she spent a sizable portion of her adult years before eonia traveling and engaging in casual mayhem. when she isn’t getting revenge or fulfilling a paid request, she generally has fun toying with others.
deadpan snarker
A character prone to gnomic, sarcastic, sometimes bitter, occasionally whimsical asides. The Deadpan Snarker exists to deflate pomposity, point out the unlikelihood of certain plans, and deliver funny lines. Typically the most cynical supporting character. In most cases, it is implied that the snarker would make a good leader, strategist, or consultant given their ability to instantly see the flaws in a constructed plan. More often than not, their innate snarkiness is the only thing preventing the other characters from comprehending this for themselves. In other cases, the Deadpan Snarker resorts to sarcasm because they're the Only Sane Man. Tends to be shot a Death Glare when they go too far (and probably isn't without one of their own, either). Note that due to the definition evolving, the "Deadpan" part of the title has gradually become The Artifact and a deadpan delivery is no longer a necessary part of the trope.
jazmine is no stranger to delivering biting remarks coupled with foul language. she’s quick to point out flaws, opting for the brutally honest approach more times than not. she’s aware that her language can hurt others, but she finds it easier to escape the frivolities and get to the point. depending on the person, she exaggerates this trope by trying to draw out a bad response from them, mostly for her own entertainment. people already view her as heinous, so why not embrace the reputation, right?
survivor guilt
death mention tw
You might be the Last Of Your Kind or someone else made a Heroic Sacrifice for you or you lived through a Restricted Rescue Operation, but whatever the reason, you're going to feel a massive sense of guilt.
although the quest with adelphie and celeste was technically a success, with the trident successfully being returned back to poseidon, the team had faced major losses. adelphie had lost her life, and celeste had suffered debilitating injuries. physically, jazmine suffered the least, and it’s a guilt that she continues to carry.
aloof big sister
to the majority of the hecate family, especially @rostameu
He's smarter, stronger, faster, more talented, and more refined than the hero, and — just to add insult to injury — he's probably sexier, too. His only problem seems to be moving his face out of that expression of bored, dignified disdain. And he just happens to be the elder brother of one of the main cast, which often gives them a raging inferiority complex. Will most likely double as the Ineffectual Loner and Noble Demon, thereby running the risk of becoming an Ensemble Darkhorse. May or may not be evil, strictly speaking, but is almost guaranteed to fight against the protagonists at one point, and spout off Cryptic Conversation to prove how much better informed he is. May or may not be a Stealth Mentor and/or consider his younger siblings annoying. Often an integral part of a mysterious organisation, and may be the Enigmatic Minion or even a Hero Antagonist in that case.
OKAY, so the running joke with jazmine is that she dislikes her siblings, which is very true tbh. i’m not going to speak for rostam and say most of that stuff actually applies, but jazmine is very cold toward her younger brother and views herself as much better in every way. with loner tendencies, disdain toward her brother, and shady side hustles, she matches this trope very well, and it was only fitting to add a trope about disliking siblings to jazmine’s task. and yes, she’s technically one of the youngest right now but hush.

Spider’s Web
Tumblr media
So for those of you who don’t have me on AO3, I have an Oikawa/OC/Iwa story up on there and I REALLY want to make it into a poly relationship, that’s just not the direction for that particular story. That being said, I’m most likely going to pull a lot of inspiration from there. However, if you have my AO3 account and are reading Proper Dose, please please please don’t spoil any of it for anyone else. Things that haven’t been posted on there (namely the OCs relationship to Oikawa) is going to be included here.
Enough rambling.
Edit: I am going to FIGHT the tumblr text post editor that WOULD NOT save every time I went back to format this.
Warnings: language and NSFW!
Tumblr media
Nobody understood the dynamic, the gall, you had dating both Iwaizumi Hajime and Oikawa Tōru. That was okay, it wasn’t anybody else business but the three of your own.
It started out in your guys’ second year of high school. You had class with Iwa for the last two years and would eventually move onto the third together as well—many thought he was a shallow piece of shit, Oikawa included, when they learned that the Seijoh ace was dating the captain of the cheerleading team, let alone top of their class. Aoba Johsai knew you as nothing more than that.
Iwaizumi knows better.
He knows the long, hard hours you put into your sport; the literal blood, sweat, and tears. He knew the struggles you faced with home life and your parents thinking your “sport” was a complete waste of time, regardless of the fresh bruises and cuts you came home with every day, they made sure to tell you as such. And he knew you took everything out on yourself — the frustration of constantly trying to make your family happy while struggling to do so for yourself — never wanting to take refuge with another person, until he came along.
To him, it seemed almost natural to be with you—you were almost Oikawa’s female counterpart and that was a love he had long swallowed and repressed. The drive, the ambition, and the self-discipline, or lack thereof, was eerily similar, too similar for Iwaizumi’s comfort. At first, anyway.
You and Oikawa didn’t get along at first. His stand-offish attitude, especially to you being cheer captain, rubbed you the wrong way. He thought you were shallow, even more so than Iwaizumi after you two started dating, and the only thing you were going to do was break Iwaizumi’s heart and he wouldn’t stand for it. However, when his ACL got torn in second year, you were the first one at his side besides the ace.
“If you’re important to Iwa, you’re important to me too,” was all you responded with when he asked why you were waiting him for the ambulance. Iwaizumi had to, unfortunately, carry out the remainder of the tournament without the captain by his side.
And so, the spider’s web began to thread.
Tumblr media
You and Iwaizumi were only dating for a year and some change before hitting a breaking point. For your safety, he had begged for you to quit your club after colliding with another girl on your team in your third year, that you had nearly dislocated your now insufferably swollen jaw. Despite the collision, the Aoba Johsai cheer team had made it to regionals after six long years of rivalry with Shiratorizawa, but the success didn’t matter to the volleyball ace. “You’re going to get hurt, [name]!”
“But I didn’t, and I’m not fucking quitting!” Despite the care and support Iwaizumi Hajime had always given you, the two of you were at odds as the two of you and Oikawa were walking back from your prefectural qualifier held at the Sendai City Gymnasium. Oddly enough, Oikawa of all people acted as the mediator that day.
“Iwa, what do you love about [name]?” He had asked his best friend.
“Her passion, mostly. But right now—“
“So if you force her to quit the one thing she’s passionate about, is she going to be the same person?” You could have cried that day. Shit, you did cry because never in a million years did you think Oikawa Tōru would be coming to your defense, especially not about this. But he understood, better than anyone, what it meant to be completely devoted to what you do and he would be damned if the boy he loved more than anyone would take away the one thing that you cared about the most.
It didn’t make sense to anyone but Oikawa. However, he knew that if you lost the one thing that motivated you in life, you would no longer be the person that Iwaizumi loved, and that hurt the captain deeply. While Iwaizumi didn’t necessarily appreciate that Oikawa came to your defense, he understood the logic behind his reasoning. “I’m only saying this because I love you, but let her do her thing.” The captain added to his ace. Iwaizumi had no idea that he had meant it literally at the time.
Since that day, you and Oikawa became quite close. He understood a part of you that, despite the passion that Iwa had for volleyball as well, the ace just didn’t understand the dedication the both of you had. You both loved what your sport and what you did. You also both loved Iwaizumi Hajime and never had an intent to let him go.
“You know, Iwa may complain that you’re too much like me, but I think that’s why he likes you.” Oikawa had said one day when they two of you were out on a friend date. It was a regular occurrence for the two of you, considering that there were times you needed to get out and away from your parents and Iwaizumi just couldn’t be there. That was okay; he was his own person too.
“I don’t disagree with you, Oiks.” You were aware of how the volleyball captain felt for your boyfriend—you would be stupid not to notice. But it didn’t hinder your friendship with the man in the slightest; if anything, it intrigued you further. “Sometimes, I feel like he’s only with me because I’m like you.”
And so another ring to the spider’s web is added, as the couple slowly captures their unsuspecting prey.
Tumblr media
“Okay, what the fuck is going on with you two?” Iwaizumi Hajime is pissed. It’s in the middle of the inter high preliminaries—just after Seijoh beat Karasuno. You’d gone up to congratulate the boys on their win, giving a long hug and peck on the cheek to the volleyball captain who has now become one of your best friends. It wasn’t hard, once Oikawa got over the qualities that you shared, the very same ones he hated in himself.
There were things about you that made the two of you different. For starters, you embraced freedom, something that Oikawa could never do. That freedom and liberation to be yourself so fully, so unabashedly, kind of made you a badass in his eyes, one almost equal to the object of his affections. Granted, not many other people at Aoba Johsai cared for this attitude of yours—it made you untouchable, unapproachable, like you somehow thought that you assumed yourself to be better than them. Whereas Oikawa was your opposite in that regard with everyone thinking much higher of him and yet he never felt that he was enough. In layman’s terms, Oikawa strives to reach the pinnacle, where as you sat at the top only to feel alone and isolated until Iwaizumi Hajime came along.
“Whaddya mean, Iwa?” Oikawa responds light-heartedly and the man in question knows that he’s playing around. Grinding his teeth against each other, the ace grabs the both of you before dragging you guys into the hall. He’s red with anger and you’re unsure if the capillaries in his eyes are going to burst from the pressure.
“What the fuck is going on with you two?” He repeats.
“Baby, nothing is going on—“
“You expect me to believe that when I see the way you two hold each other—“
“It’s because he can’t hold you, Haji.” Oikawa snaps his brown eyes towards your shorter frame, wondering when and why you would even consider betraying him right now, of all times. “I’m comforting him, Hajime. Win or not, he doesn’t get to be held and kissed by the person he loves, just the next best thing—his girlfriend.” The captain wants to kill you; wants to run and hide because he can’t take the intensity of the situation. It’s not exciting or thrilling like when he’s normally presented with a challenge—this is nerve wracking.
“What?” Is all the ace has to say. His olive green eyes are now locked on his best friend and the king is in checkmate. “I’ve been in love with you for years and after finally moving on you decide to say something to my girlfriend?” Oikawa wants to run. Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing he hates more than seeing Iwaizumi mad at him — genuinely, truly mad at him. It was the whole reason that Iwaizumi was the only person that could get through to him in the first place.
He becomes defensive, saying the only smart ass remark he can muster. “She’s not complaining, is she?” Wrong move, Oikawa.
“More importantly,” you interrupt before the two of them glare so hard at each other that the sexual tension overrides their rationality, “you both finally admitted to being in love with each other at some point in time.”
And then they’re quiet. Another thread in the web drops.
They lose to Karasuno and it is the end of their high school volleyball career. At this point, you aren’t sure what’s worse—the tragic end or the fact that you were granted permission to ride the bus home with them and the two of them are currently hiding their faces in your shoulders in the back row of the bus. The three of you are the last to get off after arriving at Seijoh and you stay for the meeting knowing that Iwaizumi was going to walk you home after. He didn’t need to announce it, you knew by the grip he had on your hand during the entire meeting.
The team parts ways, leaving you in the comfort of your boyfriend and your best friend. “We doing this?” You look at both of them, noticing the way they refuse to look at each other. In a sense, it makes your heart hurt because you’ve grown to love both of these boys so much. Iwaizumi, the boy who saw you for what you were underneath your prickly exterior. He knew you underneath fake smiles and even faker conversations. He knew you for you.
Then there was Oikawa. The boy that unknowingly saved you by saving yours and Iwaizumi’s relationship. The boy that, after months of misunderstanding you, knew how to make you bloom and grow into the person you were and wanted to continue being. The boy that wanted to see you flourish not only for Iwaizumi’s sake, but because the two of you helped each other grow in ways that others could not. He knew what you wanted to be, and he knew he wasn’t going to stop being a part of your life until you got there.
Saying nothing else, you grab both of their hands before taking them to a place that had become a home to the three of you. Caffe Veloce was your destination of choice this evening, figuring that talking about such sensitive subjects on school grounds wasn’t necessarily the best place to converse. It was far from foreign for you, to be holding the hands of them both. In Iwaizumi’s absence, Oikawa often held your hand when you went places together—mostly so that he could have the physical touch he often craved. Eventually, it just became a habit.
Despite the chilly, October evening air, the three of you had opted to sit outside so that nobody could eavesdrop on the conversation. After all, walls tend to reflect sound whereas the open air allows the vibrations to fade into nothing. “So, who wants to start?” You ask, as if you asking about how their day had gone rather than to talk about the underlying tension that had been eating the three of you alive for the last two months.
“Start with what—“ Iwaizumi is uncomfortable. He feels his girlfriend and his best friend of many years both staring at him, feels the way his heart his pounding in his chest like it isn’t doing its job of providing blood to his body. The thrumming in his ears is deafening.
“I love you, dummy.” That was a first for you, to hear Oikawa call him a name that’s met with bitter distaste. It’s a first, but it is a sign of growth. For Oikawa Tōru, he has always placed his best friend on some sort of pedestal, always regarding the man to god-like status and listening to his direction like gospel. At the end of the day, Iwaizumi Hajime is but a simple man. A man that the captain has been in love with for as long as he can remember.
“You can’t do this to me,” the ace simpers weakly as his resolve crumbles with a fragility foreign to him, “you know that I’ve been dating [name] for the last year—“
“And I love her too, Iwa. I wouldn’t have been able to even say this to you without her.”
“Aw,” you coo to the captain, “I love you too, Oiks.”
“This is too fucking weird.” Iwaizumi spits out, folding his arms over his chest and turning away from you both. Oikawa pretends the words don’t hurt but it’s nearly impossible to ignore the shards of his glass heart dropping from his chest into his stomach.
“Haji, just hear me out,” you say cautiously, gingerly holding one of his hands in yours, “if anyone can make this work, it’s us.”
There was pattern in the web becomes more intricate, as another spider adds webs to the loom.
Tumblr media
The three of you graduate—Aoba Johsai, class of 2012. It’s a beautiful ceremony, but your parents never came to watch you walk. Instead, you’re filled with love from Iwaizumi and Oikawa’s family, neither of them knows your guys’ little secret. They knew you existed, Haji’s family knew you two were together and Oikawa’s knew the two of you were close friends, but they never even had the thought the complex and complicated web of your relationship existed.
After rigorous debate, the three of you settled on attending university and getting an apartment together. It’s strange, at first, like the three of you are truly seeing each for the first time in your lives. In a sense, you are, as the three of you share many firsts together. Like the first time you all sleep in your collective king size bed—the boys had given you the short lived honor of taking the space between them. After all, you were the one that brought this all together.
The first fight was probably the worst memory, yet one of the best at the same time. While fighting was normal between Oikawa and Iwaizumi, as their childhood anctics had yet to be put to rest, there was now an intricate level of intimacy that had broken free of the former and every insult hurled by the latter had been a nail in the setter’s coffin. “Haji, you need to chill out. You’re hurting Tōru’s feelings,”
“You always take his fucking side, [name], and I’m so fucking tired of it. You were my girlfriend first when he didn’t give a rat’s ass about you so why are you choosing him over me?”
“Asshat, I’m not picking a side, I’m picking our relationship over anything. And our relationship includes you, me, and dumbass so for the love of fuck, please stop actually hurting his feelings because then we lose a part of our relationship!”
“Why did you have to ruin it by calling me ‘dumbass’, babe?” Oikawa whines, the edge he was feeling from Iwaizumi’s anger tampering off with the way you handled him. One thing that Oikawa Tōru loves about you was the way you knew just what to say when it came to Iwa. It was another major distinction between the two of you. Simmering down, the former ace clenches his teeth as he claws at his scalp with his jagged fingernails.
“I’m sorry guys.” He says quietly, knowing that you’re right. At the end of the day, the most important thing was this strange, twisted relationship he’d landed in. But this relationship had you and it had Oikawa, and that was all Iwaizumi ever wanted.
The spider’s web is almost completely threaded.
Tumblr media
The best memory overall was the very first time the three of you made love together, and it had nothing to do with the fact that there were three of you. It was the fact that three of you were so consumed and in love with each other that not a single movement felt wrong or rushed—everyone finally belonged to each other. There was no doubt of who loved whom more, an insecurity that had long gnawed at the back of your mind, which prompted the aforementioned evening.
“You guys have each other—you always have. I’m just kind of...here,” you had told them once after the two of them had returned from a movie date alone. At the time, you were curled up on the couch watching corny teen romance movies after coming home from a long day at work with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s that you’d demolished easily in the two hours you were left to your own devices.
“Honey,” Iwaizumi plopped beside you, taking the empty cup from your hand and setting it on the coffee table before pulling you into his lap with ease with his arms encircling your waist. “We have each other because we have you. Don’t ever think that you aren’t important to us too.” His words are meant to be encouraging, you know that they are, but you swear you hear little voices in your mind telling you that you were the one not cut out for this lifestyle. Knowing he’s not getting through, Oikawa rests on the arm of the couch, one leg swaying as it doesn’t quite touch the ground while his hands grasp one of yours.
“Babe, we only went without you because you were at work. We missed you the whole time,” you can sense the contradictory sentence coming, “but when you’re busy, Iwa and I take the time to explore being together too. You had a whole extra year and half of dating him—there’s things that I don’t know about him as a boyfriend that I have to learn for myself too.” Judging by the silence, Iwaizumi is worried that Oikawa had said the wrong thing even though he’s still holding you. But he couldn’t have said the wrong thing because it’s entirely true and all three of you know that.
“I love you guys.” You tuck your head underneath Hajime’s chin, simultaneously squeezing Oikawa’s hand in comfort and in search of forgiveness for your almost bull-headed attitude.
“We love you too, princess.” The former ace adds softly, his jaw moving along the crown of your head as speaks.
“Why don’t we show you how much we love you?”
Tumblr media
The three of you being together is a clarity you’d never experienced before—truly a feeling unlike any other. The way that Hajime is tentative and rough at the same time, making sure they every millimeter of your skin is bruised and bitten with purple affection, whereas Tōru seeks to bring you reassurance with encouraging whispers while caressing your breasts. Your back is to the former captain’s chest, allowing him to nibble on your bare shoulders while he holds you down as Iwaizumi has his face between your thighs.
Had it not been so intimate, you probably would have pushed to skip all the foreplay.
But Iwa has his face between your thighs with your legs dangling off his shoulders as he’s nipping and biting at the flesh on either side of him. Each bite makes you help from sensitivity, while Oikawa does his best to pinch and tease your nipples while filling your head with loving words. “We’re gonna take real good care you,” he croons sweetly as a whimper escapes your throat.
Iwaizumi gives a tentative lick to your folds, cautiously peeling them back like a flower, as if he had never done this with you. In some capacity, you suppose that was true. Carefully, his tongue swirls around your swelling clit, taking his sweet time to coax your reaction. “Haji!” Instinctively, you press your thighs together, nearly crushing his head but the man between you likes the pain. Oikawa brings a hand gingerly underneath your jaw before his fingers dig into your skin, pulling your attention away from Iwaizumi and onto him.
“I want to feel you.” And his lips are on yours as if it were the first time you had ever kissed. While he’s still holding your chin, his tongue is laving against your slightly chapped lips, almost as if to soothe the dryness, before he slips in. You aren’t sure what’s more distracting—the strange, intimate way that Oikawa Tōru is exploring your mouth with his tongue or the fact that Iwaizumi Hajime was mirroring the exact same treatment on your cunt. Their movements are slow and steady and you’re wondering just how they know that the other is moving this cautiously.
But slow and steady and cautious has never been Iwaizumi’s style in bed, no matter how much he tried to make the moment last. For just a second, he pulls away from your lower region swabbing his middle finger around his mouth and inserting it into you without warning before his tongue comes back to join the party. Were it not for Oikawa’s mouth covering your own at the moment, you’re sure that a string of profanities would be leaving your mouth with the way Hajime’s finger is pressing and reaching for the weak spots that his tongue cannot reach.
Oikawa’s freehand travels down from pinching your nipple to threading themselves into Iwaizumi’s hair, encouraging him to bring you closer and closer to your first orgasm of the evening. The ace didn’t need to be told twice. Rather than swatting off Oikawa’s hand, Iwaizumi blindly grabs his wrist with his own free hand, pulling the setter closer so as if to signal to him that he needs to be pulled harder. Adding another finger inside of you, Iwa sets a punishing pace, entirely turned on by the burning feeling in his scalp and the muted moans of yours that his best friend was covering up.
There’s almost no rhythm to his work, or so you believe. But Iwaizumi is a meticulous man, and he would be damned if he didn’t love a woman properly. His fingers are nearly fucking you open, alternating between scissoring you and pushing on that spongy bundle of tissue that makes you want to scream, all the while your clit is being rolled between his teeth with an occasional suckle, nearly sucking the oxygen straight from your lungs. You pull away from Tōru, eyes half shut as broken cries leave your chest while you try and regain your breath. “We love you, [name],” the setter mumbles along your skin, pulling even harder at his best friend’s scalp to tell him to finish you. Iwaizumi pulls away from your warmth, his chin drenched with saliva and your juices and Oikawa swears up and down he’s never seen the man more attractive than he was in that moment.
The ace pulls his fingers from inside you before the flats of three of his fingers are wildly, furiously, rubbing at your sensitive clit because all he wants right now is to hear you scream. But you live in an apartment and have neighbors and as much as they both want to hear you beg and cry for them, Oikawa shoves three fingers in your mouth to keep you quiet. “Don’t ever think for a second that we don’t love you,” Iwaizumi grits out between his grinding teeth, his hand moving at breakneck speeds knowing you’re so goddamn close.
“Fuckfuckfuck—“ you’re chanting out around Oikawa’s fingers while his free hand migrated to languidly stroke the man bringing you to your end. That caught his attention real quick, as Iwaizumi crashed his lips onto Tōru’s. It was rough and loving at the same time, much like the ace himself. Your orgasm ripped through you like a tsunami causing you to bite down on the captain’s fingers. Whiny whimpers escape through your muffled slew of curses as Iwaizumi’s speed slows before he pulls his soaked hand away from you, Oikawa doing the same with your mouth before he pins Iwaizumi down onto the bed, overcome and overwhelmed with need. Luckily for him, you’re incapacitated at the moment, giving the boys a chance to show each other their love as well.
It’s captivating to watch, you muse internally, the way that Iwaizumi goes from manhandling you to delicately cradling every part of Oikawa that he can touch. The way their tongues are swirling together and the way they’re both stroking each other’s cocks to alleviate an ounce of pressure—it’s so intimate. It’s so goddamn beautiful. Despite Tōru claiming they were going to show you how much they loved you, this worked just as well because there’s a part of you adores the way they love each other just as much.
Like watching a fly become trapped in a spider’s, large, billowing web.

Sports fest – an idle time for most but to the athletes of the school.
Kamo Noritoshi was one of them, an archer for the school team and currently representing class two-six. It was a jovial time for most as there weren’t any homeroom activities, but to him, it was yet another one of those boring days in school. It wasn’t new to him nor was it a rare chance for him to get to play unlike the other students as almost every month, he’d join inter-school competitions, most of which were a piece of cake to him. He’d been slinging a bow and arrow since he was five after all. They were the best team there ever was to grace the school grounds and unless they graduate from the institution, there was no way they’d be beaten. It was routine, thus the boredom.
He glanced at his watch. It read exactly half past two. The game he was supposed to be in was already starting, but instead of being in the archery range to shoot some arrows, he was wandering inside the school building, particularly that of the freshmen’s area. It was way quieter there than the other places in the area since all of the students on that floor were excited for the games unlike the upper-class students who found the events of the day tedious. He couldn’t agree more with them. He couldn’t understand why there were such frivolous events apart from the necessary ones. They were of no importance to him and since his class had gotten into the finals, he wasn’t needed anymore.
He treaded his way through the quiet hallways, his footsteps echoing. The surroundings were quite eerie especially that the green glow from the sunlight which was being filtered by the ostentatious greenhouse cast itself across the pristine white walls. He walked the length of the plant conservatory where a few meters of turf had been laid out as a part of the semi-indoor landscape when a strange figure caught his eyes. His stroll halted as he turned on his heels to see what it was, pressing closer to the glass wall with his curiosity overriding him. He squinted, adjusting his vision to the brighter light.
On the grass, he could make out the shape of a person, lying down as if unconsciousness caught them in the middle of a promenade. He arched a brow when he noticed a glistening tuft of long hair on the grass. It was female student – you specifically. Alarmed, he ran back to where the entrance to the greenhouse was and frantically searched for you, thinking you were injured or ailing. He found you on the same spot. Hoping that you were fine, he knelt down beside you. You were lying on your side, your back to him, vulnerable to every single danger that the school grounds could expose you to.
“What are you doing here?” Noritoshi whispered to himself. Ever so carefully, he tried to turn you over so he could at least recognize you. He noticed your hand which held a crimson cravat. A senior, he thought. What was a senior doing at the freshmen’s area? He smirked. Then again, he was a junior and he was there.
Even after you turned over so you were lying on your back, your luxuriant tresses covered your face like a veil. Sucking in air, he reached over, but before he could even touch you, you began stirring. Your hands reached over to your face and brushed your hair absently from your face. A soft sigh escaped your mouth, the creases on your forehead caused by the disturbance slowly smoothing into a peaceful mask as your breathing steadied, your chest rising and falling at an even pace.
Noritoshi scrambled back, frowning when he realized that you hadn’t fainted. You were deliberately there, sleeping. He smiled in amusement, about to leave when a soft breeze managed to make its way through the open vents of the glass dome, rustling the vegetation along with the your dark hair. Suddenly, he found himself taken by the sight of you slumbering before his feet. Your lean, long legs were slightly bent to the right, barely concealed by the short skirt that was your uniform which clung to your hips deliberately, tracing your delicate contours.
His eyes trailed upwards to your face, cheeks lightly flushed and glowing with a healthy tinge of faded roses, lashes thick enough to cast shadows on your cheeks and lips that were the shade of cherries, slightly fuller on the lower part, all framed by sable hair that had lush curls near the tips, scattered on the grassy ground in reckless abandon. You were beautiful…like a garden nymph.
He was enthralled, no other words. He found himself unable to move, wondering where he had seen such a face. He doubted it that you’ve encountered each other since he never really went to the senior department. Aside from that, he never bothered to look at the people in the school long enough in all his two years stay in the institution unless he had something to do with them. He blinked slowly. For the first time, he found himself breathless for someone and he wasn’t expecting that he’d see it in an unconscious girl in the greenhouse.
Thump. Thump.
He swallowed hard, feeling his heart racing the more he stared at the nameless goddess in front of him. With his body finding a mind of its own, he found himself leaning over you until your faces were but a measly inch away from each other. Slowly, his eyes began to droop until they closed, making his lips touch with your slightly open ones. He’d never had the urge to kiss someone so badly and now that he had the chance, you weren’t even responding. He relished the feel of your mouth against his, yielding and soft like candy floss to the slightest of pressures.
What are you doing attacking an unconscious person? Isn’t that cowardly, a nagging voice in his head said, making him snap out of it. He inched away from your sleeping figure and swallowed hard, shaking his head, eyes wide when he realized what he just did. It was so uncommon for him to be losing his mind over anyone. I didn’t just do that.
He glanced at the you, trying to clear his head. He sat down on the grass just beside you, looking up. Frustration took over him, chastising himself for the recklessness of his actions. He thought of how it would look like if the you actually woke up and caught him red-handed. He shrugged the thought off, just glad that you didn’t.
Minutes turned to hours and he still stayed there. The urge to protect you was strong and yet he wasn’t really protecting you, was he? What if it was your first kiss? How he dreaded the thought that he stole it and he didn’t even know whether you liked it or not. He felt loathing for himself when he realized that he was as good as an offender, harassing the you while you slept.
His eyes made its way towards the your tranquil form again and to his surprise, your eyes were open, hazel ones that reflected the canopy of leaves above you. You looked rather disoriented, but even as your vision wandered to him, clear and bright under the afternoon sun, enhancing your features, you exhibited no surprise.
His guilt took the best of him and made him inch away from you, watching as you stretched your arms and blinked sleepily. You pushed yourself up and regarded him with a sleepy smile.
Finally, the goddess spoke. “To what do I owe the honor?” you asked.
Puzzled, Noritoshi shook his head slowly. “Excuse me?”
You sighed, but was happy to repeat yourself. “I said –”
Noritoshi was torn between laughter and frowning. “I heard what you said, but…”
You giggled a bit, narrowing your eyes at him before covering your mouth to yawn. “Now I know why girls fawn over you.”
His brows shot up. “Excuse me?” he said, this time with more edge to it.
Your eyes widened a bit and you fidgeted with your cravat, your shoulders tensing. You winced, returning his gaze with your left eye closed and your right eye slightly squinting. “Shouldn’t have said that.”
Noritoshi shook his head. “No… You don’t get it…”
You relaxed. “What don’t I get?” You lightly scratched the back of your head. “Sorry. I just woke up…er…which you already knew.” You shook your head and rubbed at your eyes.
His head tilted to the side. “You know me.”
At that, you burst into bubbles of laughter. “School team archer, Kamo Noritoshi, who outshines the captain? Who wouldn’t?”
His heart fluttered. The fact that you knew him made him feel glad and guilty at the same time. You knew him and with beauty like yours, he couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that he never noticed you before. He shrugged, your words finally sinking in and he momentarily forgot about what he did. “Not really…”
“And yet I hear rumors about you having to hide in the men’s lavatory because a mob is chasing after you. You’ve got to be kidding me.” You straightened up. “Come on. No need to be humble.” You were easy-going and cheerful, that much he’d figured out. And you also liked to talk. You apologized for your comments and asked, “What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be playing?”
He flashed you a half smile. “I didn’t want to.” He shrugged then. “What about you? Aren’t you supposed to be cheering for your class?”
You blew a raspberry. “I’d rather sleep.”
“Figures.”
You stood up. “I’m going home. Nice talking to you.” You began to make your way out of the greenhouse, waving with your cravat. “See you around.”
Noritoshi stood up and before he could even realize what he was doing, he seized you by the wrist, stopping your progress. You turned around and eyed his hand on yours which he quickly withdrew. “Sorry,” he said breathlessly.
You smiled. “It’s fine. Do you need anything?”
“Your name…” he mumbled.
“Pardon?”
He looked up. “Your name. I…uh…I didn't catch it.”
Your eyes twinkled as you chuckled. “I didn’t mention it.”
Noritoshi’s face heated up and he didn’t need a mirror to tell how badly he was blushing. He looked down.
You bent down slightly. “Are you alright? You’re red,” you said, a confirmation of his thoughts.
He nodded. “Yes. I-it’s hot…that’s all.”
You giggled. “It’s Y/N.”
“Huh?”
“My name is L/N Y/N.”
Y/N. Pretty. He nodded. “L/N Y/N. Thank you. It’s nice to meet you.”
“It’s just Y/N,” you half-whined and pouted a bit. “Do you want me to call you *kohai?”
He shook his head, feeling the slightest annoyance when you suggested it. “N-no.”
“Then call me Y/N and I’ll call you…”
“Idiot?” he said absently, shook his head upon realization and chuckled awkwardly. “I’m kidding.”
“Noritoshi?” you offered, the way his name rolled out of your tongue making him want to hear it more.
“Okay.”
“Noritoshi it is. Bye, Noritoshi.”
You started to walk away again, but he realized it was his chance to make it up to you although you didn’t know what has happened. “Y/N.”
You turned on your heels and looked at him. “Yes?”
“Mind if I walk you home?” he blurted out.
You took his hand. “Not at all, but we should get going before your fan girls start chasing after me.”
Noritoshi chuckled and led the way. You both exited the gate and you just directed him to where you were going, your shoulders touching from time to time as you walked. You didn’t live far from the school just a few blocks and soon, the of you were standing in front of a dainty-looking house with two floors surrounded with lawn and fences the color of faded limes.
“This is me,” you said. “Thank you.”
“Uh…”
“Do you want to walk me to my door?” you asked, voicing Noritoshi’s thoughts out.
“S-sure.”
You chuckled. “Are you always this articulate?”
He chuckled along with you, suppressing the urge to smile like an idiot until you’ve reached the door.
“Thank you,” you said again.
“You’re welcome and…”
You clasped your hands behind you and tilted sideways, your hair falling over your shoulder like it had a life of its own. “And?”
“I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“Nothing.”
You frowned slightly. “Whatever it is, it’s fine.”
Noritoshi placed a hand behind his neck. “I’m going.”
“Okay, but before that, I’m sorry, too.”
“Huh?” He was confused.
“I’m sorry for this.” Without warning, you wrapped your arms around his neck, stood on your toes and let your lips meet in a bold kiss.
Noritoshi’s eyes widened, but he’d soon grown accustomed to your lips which he already kissed while you were sleeping. Chills ran up and down his spine, as the urgency in your kiss heightened from just a simple contact to a kind of potent wanting. His arm found its way around your waist, holding you closer, not caring if anyone saw you as long as he was happy where he was at the moment.
He was still dazed by the time you pulled back, but contrary to his expectation for you to move further away, you leaned closer to his ear and said, “Naughty Noritoshi stealing a kiss from sleeping Y/N.”
He froze. You knew.
Finally you stood back from him, gave him one last peck on the cheek and winked at him as you opened the front door. “See you at the greenhouse, kiss thief.”

When I read HQ, I decided to research a little on volleyball but of course, my knowledge is just a tad bit better than a novice. There are players who are short, the shortest is only 5' and a half? Can you explain why there would be no Hinata or Hoshiumi in real life?
Hi!
I will try to answer everything, hopefully in a comprehensible way.
There are many questions you've asked beside this one so I will try to put it all together, if you don't mind (you remember your asks anyway...so it should work).
For the part where you quote one of my posts where I tell the Horrible Greedy Mangaka (the author whose name I despise) said like he renounced at developing Lord Kags more, it's from one of his final interviews explaining the future careers (?) of all the players he put in the National Team. He said basically regarding the player who should have been the most talented since the start "he's already great, so what else was there to add"? - which is IDIOTIC because no matter how great of a talent/player you are you NEED to best yourself every day. The more talent you have, the higher is the climb you are destined to have (instead Furudate basically let him stay the same or almost the same as he was at 15 years old: IDIOTIC, as I said.
Furudate has no real perception of the greatness in sport so that was just a way to say "I can't understand a thing about superiorly skilled players, so I cannot say anything more about the character I was meant to refer at as a great talent, and therefore let's leave him in the dust and create a protagonist with zero realism and make people (who cannot understand the sport nor appreciate it fully) identify with him. It will bring me way more money than be truthful, and it's gonna work way better than try to understand the real dynamic of a sport."
This is something that I will never EVER forgive him for. He vilified real volleyball and created fake suggestive ideas about it in people who basically have never ever seen a real match and worse, who have never ever PLAYED it for real at decent level. All of this smells so fake to me, it makes me angry STILL to this day if I rethink about it.
About the height of players, (hoshiumi, Hinata, both under 1.80 by far) sorry, but in no real team of male volley players at ANY good or great level you find people short the way midgets Furudate loves to boast are. This because in modern volley power is the most important quality. It's not even debatable. Shorties are deficient in elevation, weight, strength, power. They will simply get blocked in series, no matter how fast or jumpy they can be. Just take a look at any CEV game, and judge for yourself. In the past 15 years, the heights of team roasters have constantly grown. It's a basic rule which is followed because IT WORKS INFINITELY BETTER AND MORE than any other asset.
Just take a look at the beast roasters in National Teams or in the best volley Leagues in the world (I am Italian, I watch the best players play every year here) and midgets are nowhere to be seen. The more volley develops, the more height and power do count and amount.
Furudate tried to tell a fairy tale: but sport is not a fairy tale: sport is a real path of real, quite heroic and symbolic life.
To play is one thing, if you are short. To play at the greatest levels is another thing. Furudate has so little knowledge of real volley he dared to claim a beach volley training can best your skills. FALSE to the highest. Beach volley is a funny thing, it's an athletic circus, but there are NO connections with the depth and the complexity of indoor volleyball there. Strategy, which is a vital part of indoor volleyball, and which exists because you have MANY players and possible way to make them interact, disappear fatally in outside volley. And this makes the two games like night and day.
Schemes in beach volley are dire at best, and although it is a funny and entertaining thing to play and watch, the ball, the court/ball/net dimensions, the rules are DIFFERENT and there is NO way a real top volley player would ever switch between there and the beach, or viceversa. They are two different sports with little in common, and maybe some help in training there can be found for female players (slower and less athletic than their male counterparts and by definition less powerful and strong), but in male volleyball the skills you can hone by training in beach are virtually ZERO. Especially when you are a top player. You can relax and have fun with beach volley, but it's like having a drink in the heat when you wanna relax. It's nothing like the real thing you wanna do, it's just a break you get some fun in.
Furudate then put everybody and their sisters in the National team, at the end of his AWFUL "final arc" (as i call it, the Fairy Tale Midgets Arc). PATHETIC. It was also blatantly absurd to have as many players as he had become pro. Even in smallest leagues the percentage of players who transition from high school playing to pro are like 1,02%.
In HQ there would be like 20% or something, even around 25% if you count smallest and foreign leagues. It's all part of the fairy tale I despise.
If you want to create a para-sport manga then create a fake sport: one like Blue Lock or Prince of Stride: or you start by putting alienating elements like superpowers (like in Kuroko No Basket, which is clear is only inspired by basket, then it goes for the superpower route but OPENLY), and you stop trying to fake realism in your opera.
They are all valid choices: all, ban the one The Greedy Mangaka did: pursue the money of delusional, not educated readers honing them into believing what they are following and reading avidly is somehow REAL and near to reality of the sport the manga had to depiction and describe.
I call this lying to the incapacitated and I will forever despise ALL of the way HQ became after Inarizaki arc (the best arc of the series, the one that gave me hopes before everything turned out impossibly wrong).
I won't even mention the hate I felt when one of my top characters became even a Country Traitor just to keep having 1264322 setters around.
In NO Country more than Japan to have one of the best characters become a foreigner would have felt wrong and fake.
Japan has a strong, very strong Country Pride and to ditch it to play a sport instead than fight INSIDE your Country to become a valid choice is like calling yourself weak, scared and hypocrite.
And Furudate The As*s dared to make Oikawa (my Oikawa!!!!! The Prideful, talented Oikawa) THIS kind of loser, ditching his roots because he didn't feel he could have reached National Team in Japan??????
PATHETIC.
Fake, Offensive, Pathetic.
No real Japanese would have ever ditched his Nationality to play. Not a single one (because in Japan to become a foreign citizen you RENOUNCE to your first Nationality and this is more or like a capital sin in Japanese mentality. And Oikawa became THAT kind of traitor. Unbelievable. Such a beautiful, deep character trashed to become a belittling loser so into his own world and frustration he couldn't manage to fight for his own place in his own home country. All this is so profoundly anti- sport I can't even detail it. It's just a void of real sport spirit and again it makes me angry any time I think of it.)
Ok... I think I wrote a lot (sorry... I didn't expect this to be this long but it's above than me. If I start to think about this all, I still as bitter and angry and disappointed as ever...).
I hope some of your questions were answered and I hope in a readable way... I am sure I filled this with typos and mistakes but I always write in a rush and it's not easy when this is my third language ... sigh!
Have a nice time and hopefully I made myself clear and cleared your doubts on this all.
Hugs, K.

Fencing Primer
Fencing is a combat sport, done using one of three weapons: foil, épée or sabre (more recently lightsabre fencing has been recognised as a sport in France, but has not yet reached widespread acceptance). In the simplest terms, the goal is to touch the opponent with your weapon before they do the same to you. Each weapon follows a slightly different set of rules, allowing for different types of strikes, targets, and techniques.
In general, fencing bouts (assaults in French) take place on piste (a long strip) and are typically played in either a first-to-five points or first-to-fifteen points format. Most high-level matches are fought using electric sensors on the body and swords, but traditional fencing (with touches judged visually by a referee) is common at schools and universities, especially for first-to-five matches where the electronic setup would take longer than the bout itself.
A typical fencing competition follows a structure familiar to anyone following the World Cup: competitors are put into small groups that duel round-robin, and the winners of each group are ranked and seeded into a single- or double-elimination bracket.
Compared to many other combat sports, there are few divisions in fencing: there is no separation into weight classes, and men and women can sometimes compete in the same tournaments (though the most prestigious ones tend to separate them). For younger fencers, tournaments tend to be separated by age groups in two-year groups (to avoid giving the people who have had more years to train too much of an advantage).
Team format:
While most fencing takes place purely as a one-on-one activity, a format for three-versus-three is also recognized. It is made up of a series of assaults such that each member of a team plays once against each member of the other team. The first bout is a first-to-five between the first two players, and then they are replaced by a member of their team, with the score still persisting, and playing as a first-to-ten, at which point the players rotate again and play first-to-fifteen, with the pattern continuing until the ninth bout is played and one team reaches forty five points first.
Etiquette and the role of the referee in fencing:
Fencing is very strict about following the rules of sportsmanship and fair play, to the point where arguing with the referee is punished by docking points, and bad behavior such as refusing to shake hands with the opponent results in immediate disqualification from the tournament.
At the start and end of each assault, it is mandatory to salute the opponent (and it is good practice to salute the referee as well), and to shake hands (using the ungloved off-hand) with the mask off.
The referee has a very important role even when electric sensors are in use. Fencing (with the exception of épée) uses “right of way”, or “priority”, to adjudicate who gets a point in case of simultaneous touches--or even, potentially, to disqualify an earlier touch in favor of a later one. This requires a sharp eye and a thorough knowledge of the distinct rules of each weapon. Referees may describe the chain of events for each point, accompanied by codified gestures. In most settings, their ruling is final, but in some high-profile tournaments like the Olympics, athletes can request an instant replay.
Right of way overview:
In  épée fencing, the only thing that matters is who struck the other person the fastest. One consequence is that there is a good deal of back and forth since both fencers are looking for an opening. By contrast, in sabre and foil fencing, there is a set of rules in play that incentivize seizing the initiative, and forcing the opponent to cede it, because even simultaneous hits may result in only one fencer being awarded the point. This known as “having priority”
In the simplest turns, a person who initiates the attack first (typically) has priority. Seizing priority can be as simple as being the first to move towards the opponent, or moving much faster than the opponent. When an attack fails (the person launching the attack comes up short, is parried, or is feinted into attacking), the other fencer typically claims priority (unless they continue retreating, or do not begin to move towards their opponent). This is why a riposte is such an effective maneuver if executed correctly: even if the opponent were to try to strike again (a remise in technical terms), due to priority, the fencer striking with the riposte would be the only one to score a point in the case that both hits connect.
Keep in mind, scoring the point even without priority is still possible, for instance by catching the opponent off-guard with a counterattack, although in the case that they are paying attention this will likely backfire. Even so, being able to constantly threaten to catch the opponent with a counterattack slows them down significantly and prevents them from being able to just run the other person off the piste. In addition, it makes it much more likely for them to whiff the attack, or to be less committed to it.
The typical fencing equipment:
For a ‘dry’ assault, the fencer will typically wear a (bullet-proof!) fencing jacket covering the body, along with a glove on the main hand, a mask (helm) with a ‘bib’ to cover the neck, and breeches (short pants). Female fencers typically wear a chest protector or plastic cups under the jacket. Optionally, the fencer may use dedicated fencing socks (knee length) and shoes (like sneakers, but more resilient to the wear and tear from lunging), in addition to a cup to protect the groin area. As a rule, the ‘dry’ equipment is stark white, but other colors are allowed (with the exception of black, which is reserved for coaches, and tends to be more padded than the standard version, to allow students to practice strikes on the coach).
For ‘electric’ assaults, on top of the previous equipment, the fencer wears a lamé (an electrically conductive jacket, with specialized target areas that differ between weapons) and electrical wires running to the weapon and lamé. The electrical wire to the weapon runs under the lamé and through the glove, connecting directly into the hilt of the weapon.
The heavy equipment can be difficult to wear and stifling during training. For first time fencers, the gear can be one of the most difficult parts to get used to.
Relevant information for Miraculous Ladybug:
Adrien, Kagami and all the rest of the students at D’Argencourt’s academy practice sabre fencing. Unlike foil and épée, which are thrusting weapons, a sabre is meant for slashing. Every part of the blade counts for scoring hits, and the appropriate hit zone goes from the waist up, including the mask and the sleeve of the main hand (the only excluded part is the off-hand).
This is perhaps particularly relevant for Kagami, who also practices kendo (where slashing is preferred over thrusting), so this is the version of fencing with the most overlap, although of course they are far from the same discipline.

sports run deep in your family. your grandfather, your father, your older brother : the triple threat of sports, each cutting their way through their own league ( the mlb, the nhl, and the nfl — RESPECTIVELY ). you were never as gifted as any of them athletically — good enough, smart enough, but nothing more than a decent athlete that could hold your own. no, instead you picked up a camera and this is how you fit in.
AESTHETICS: she is like the summer nights when the stars are far away and the fire is dying out, the sun’s warmth a comforting memory and all the potential of tomorrow ready to be spread out before you ( worn out timberland boots, pink lipstick, short and flowy dresses, fireflies in a jar, a denim jacket covered in patches, the heat of a sparkler against your fingers, do no harm but take no shit, coy smiles because you want something, the smell of balsam and pine needles )
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘
— she was adopted when she was just under two years old from turkey when her parents decided they wanted a little girl, so the clearwaters have always felt like her family to her. she knew the greater part of growing up that she was adopted, it just never was an issue for her. recently, though, she has felt like she should reconnect with her native middle eastern heritage.
—  the clearwaters are a triple threat in sports : her grandfather retired mlb player and coach, her father a retired prominent defenseman in the nhl and current dartmouth men’s hockey coach, and her older brother michael ( 26 and always mikey to her ) is making a splash in his third year in the nfl as a wide receiver.  however, her parents made sure she and her brother had a ( fairly ) average “middle class” bringing up, though they had their fair share of money in the bank. didn’t have to struggle, really, but didn’t get everything she wanted either. had a summer job scooping ice cream for two years in high school.
— grew up in norwich, vt, real big on nature and hiking and all that jazz. she’s always down for an adventure and to go hiking.
— when she was ten she got one of those kid’s polaroid cameras ( u know the ones where the film is only a little bigger than a postage stamp ) and she was obsessed. she worked her way up through cameras over the years, having a natural eye for it.
— one of the first games she ever shot was one of her brother’s high school football games which sounds sweet but it was actually because she was so bored out of her mind and wanted something to do. needless to say, though, that was the start of it. some might say it was kind of inevitable she gravitated toward sports somehow — she was a clearwater at heart. since then she has gained a lot of knowledge and respect for all different kinds of sports.
— for college she was torn between dartmouth, nyu, and halston. she ultimately chose halston because it was somewhere new, though the elite photography program at nyu was hard to pass up.
— her freshman year ayla was at as many games she could physically get it every weekend, shooting and shooting and shooting, until eventually the office took notice of her. her sophomore year she split time between the men’s hockey and football teams ( and a few other games of other sports where she could grab them ). a couple of her photos have been used for the banners outside the football field and hockey arenas, one across the header of the football team’s website, and several in the yearbook, including a two page spread shot of roo carlson that she’s very proud of.
— PROFESSIONALLY, she has managed to shoot a few kings, dodgers, and lakers games as well. she’s held an internship with the la galaxy from the spring of her freshman year to early fall of her sophomore year. she then accepted an internship with bernstein associates, official photographers of the la kings, clippers, dodgers, and lakers, this past summer.
— she does a little freelance work as well ; mostly for friends or friends of friends, though she’s been considering lately trying to make her skills and business available in a more professional manner to begin building an image for when she graduates. she does do a lot of photographing for herself — a lot of candids ; she thinks they capture the true spirit of a person moreso than when they’re posing or prepared for a photo.
𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐂
— just got a new camera + lens ( nikon D500 + fancy zoom lens ) last summer as an early birthday present to herself. she practically become one with it over the course of the summer and she’s rarely separate from it. that thing cost her so much money and is her baby okay.
— she hopes someday to be the team photographer for a professional team, hopefully in one of the “big four” ( mlb, nfl, nba, or nhl ), and she thinks her prospects are looking very good.
— she played field hockey and lacrosse through high school.
— ayla thinks she’s better at shooting people. part of what she loves about being a sports photographer is how active and unpredictable it is to shoot a game. she’s had to learn a lot to try to predict what she can. they say you make your own luck and for a sports photographer that is true. part of it is down to chance, but there are things you can learn about the game in order to increase your chances of being in the right place at the right time.
— very much a morning person. has never had a problem waking up in the morning. typically goes for a run at sunrise, and has showered, gotten ready for the day, and is at a local cafe shop editing photos / making graphics and drinking an iced mocha by 8. truly couldn’t be me…
— you can often find her watching practices, not just to practice shooting but to learn more about what makes each team and player tick in order to improve her ability to predict their tendencies ( which in turn makes her chances of getting a good photo go up ). she takes her craft very seriously.
— she has a policy of not sleeping with or dating players on the teams that she shoots — it’s called professionalism, boys !! she likes to be respected and somehow doesn’t think that sleeping with the players goes very far for her in that regard. that doesn’t mean the players don’t try, though...
— she has struggled a bit with people who think her opportunities have only arisen because of her family pedigree ( which some have gone so far to tell her they’re “not her family” — which, don’t even go there, lads... ), and that has made ayla work all that much harder to prove that she’d gotten where she has on her own merits.
— so desperately wants to be that girl with tons of cute aesthetic plants in her room but tragically plants always die in her care no matter what she does. probably has gotten one of those tiny tabletop sand zen gardens to make herself feel better tho she still keeps trying with plants. so far the only ones that have lived any length of time are the air plants. there is no hope.
𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘
— she’s generally well liked, with a hint of sass and humor. she comes across as a bit of an air-head at times, but that’s part due to a persona she put on from a young age. she has an observant eye that drew to her photography in the first place and will often allow her to draw certain conclusions about people.
— ayla has a very down to earth outlook and approach to life, often taking things as they come. she’s adaptable to situations, but manages to usually stay to the original path she saw for herself.
—  she’s well versed in all the sports she shoots, something that tends to surprise a lot of people, but how is she supposed to be good at her job if she isn’t ? if she gets bothered during games she typically shuts people down with wide eyes and some obscure bit of knowledge in her cute, raspy lil voice. dareisay… elle woods, what like it’s hard ? energy ?? she’s a hard worker, and strives for everything she posts or hands in to be perfect.
— a few of her downfalls include her narcissism and need to be liked. she looks to look and feel pretty, by her own standards, and is a queen of the self-timer and remote self photography : has two instas because of it – one for her sports photography and one that’s a “personal” and mostly just pictures of herself.
— her need to be liked is something she doesn’t even realize. she likes to be seen in a positive light and it can on occasion lead to her agreeing to do things she doesn’t really want to. at the same time this is constantly in conflict with her desire to be independent and be her own person.
— she also just believes that everyone just does like her because she is a likeable and very down to earth person — both of which are true for the most part, but reveals the blurring line she has between confidence and arrogance. she can be quite judgmental at times, especially towards those who are overly dramatic, but they’re confined more to just thoughts than any actual voiced words or actions. in a way, this feeds into a sense of her own self-arrogance.
𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄
—  alya stands at 5′3″ with a slim but athletic build. she has a runner’s body, deceptively strong, lithe, and built for distance.
— warm brown eyes that look like they’re laughing more often than not.
— her hair is naturally brown, but is dyed to have blonde highlights near the bottom. often styled half up & half down, kept down and loose, or in a messy bun.
— she does not need glasses or contacts and has no tattoos.
— piercings & jewelry: both lobes and cartilage. often wears simple black studs in all of them ; has an affinity for simple silver rings, often wearing two on each hand ; a black timex watch she bought for $20 at target that’s waterproof
— style : she’s almost always wearing the same pair of beat up timberland’s she’s owned since like sophomore year of high school. she likes to be able to move easily ( bc homegirl absolutely cannot walk in heels at all ). despite this, she also likes to look cute at the same time, often pairing them with short, flowy sundresses or skirts + crop tops. when she shoots games, however, she’s dressed rather practically in skinny jeans, a crop top, and a cardigan ( if necessary ).

— pretty girl like you ( any ) : someone who does not understand why ayla is “wasting” her talents on sports and thinks she should try moving into the fashion or modeling business. i don’t think this is necessarily a negative connection — it could be well intentioned, or maybe it is truly just meant to be scathing.
— you & me were never meant to be ( any, female wld be real lit tho 👀 ) : an ex from her earlier years at halston. i imagine they broke up either before the summer of her sophomore year or early in her sophomore year. there’s not much ayla loves more than her photography, and i think maybe they didn’t understand. could have been mutual, could have ended poorly, could have just.... fizzled out. pretty open !! i’d just like her to have an ex.
— you just don’t get the message ( male ) : someone who is just relentlessly pursuing her ( not in an overly creepy way, y’know tho ). someone she’s told no multiple times and yet he still keeps trying rip. — TAKEN BY OWEN
— my brother, what ? ( any, probably female tho ) : just someone who is a big fan ( honestly fan or like... fan 😉, y’know ?? ) of her brother and she’s like please stop my poor ears don’t want to hear this.
— and i just love to vibe ppl !! ayla is a pretty friendly and outgoing person so... let’s just have at it :)

When Sylvie and Johnathan got pregnant with their second child, they weren’t ready for how different their experience with the boy would be from his oldest sister. Starting by his premature birth (by a whole month) in the middle of the holidays. He soon proved to be strong through, he wasn’t a quiet baby by any means, Gabriel tested his parents’ will power and patience every night when he made them have a taste of his healthy lungs at three in the morning, sometimes not keeping quiet the whole night. He would hear those stories continuously while growing up, especially when he brought girlfriends home to meet the family. He still thinks they are Sylvie’s finest way of making him feel embarrassed as any good mother should. It’s needless to say that he grew up surrounded by what most people envied: a good, supporting family. He was incredibly close to his parents, even closer to his sisters. His proximity with all that female energy made him inevitably stray away from some male stereotypes which didn’t make school any easier for him. He spent too much time with his mother in Carmichael Roses, which made him learn everything about flowers, including the best of each season, and as a teenager helped with their shipments for a while. The rest of his time would be spent in a green field, playing and falling in love with golf alongside his father and his older sister.
Gabriel never felt like he was a child as the other children around him. He was loud and rambunctious, yes? However, his mind was far too scarce for him, he was disruptive in class, impatient, he was forgetful of his tasks and had a difficulty in concentrating, not to mention, he constantly complained about his difficulty in reading and writing. It would take a while for the family to  this as more than a kid just being a kid, thankfully, his parents paid his symptoms much mind, and when Gabriel’s grades started tanking in elementary school, before everything got worrisome, he was sent to a therapist and diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. From that moment on, both Sylvie and Jonathan would do everything in their power to make sure that it wouldn’t hinder him in any way in his future and that he would have a chance as any other kid would, even if he was already behind by a grade from the rest of his classmates.
From the moment he was diagnosed, Gabriel remembers working harder than ever just to fit in. He was still made from the same mold as his older sister, but as a young boy he couldn’t feel more different if he tried. His diagnosis translated into anxiety to deal with most social situations, but over time, and with the proper support, not only from his family, but medically speaking, he got better. Gabriel understood that quite possibly he would never be able to function the same way other children did, and it was perfectly fine. Both himself and his parents were completely against medicating him as a child. For once they were afraid it would cause some sort of dependency, and for Gabriel, he was scared of the side effects and that instead of giving him just enough to concentrate, it would numb him out and he was not interested in that. Therapy, stress management and educational support, not to mention cognitive behavioural therapy became normal in his life. His parents hired tutors to help him study after school in attempts to keep up, but he was always a step behind no matter how hard he tried. His difficulty with learning words and how to write properly, paired with a brain who thought too fast for how slow he was able to scribble words on a page, or read them for that matter. He hated math, the symbols confused him to no end and he thought that if he never had to see math in his life, he was fine with it.
As a part of his therapy, though, to learn how to concentrate better, his therapist told him not to abandon golf, in fact, she prescribed him more time on the field, as he had described a sense of peace and quiet whenever he was swinging a golf club.
Golf would soon become his whole life, much to his father’s happiness. It was as if he was someone else when he was on that course. He managed to get the queues without having to read anything on a board and his mind had its own way of processing what his hands needed to do, the exact amount of force he needed to put in to make sure that his swings were precise. Besides, it was nice to see people praising him, instead of being concerned over something that if he had any say in it, would never hinder his professional path. It was clear that he wanted to be just like his father and it was also clear to see that Johnathan took it as a compliment, especially when he saw his son had a natural talent for the game. Gabriel would want to start competing as soon as his father and his teacher thought he would be able to do so. Competitions brought a different side of him and made his fear of failure and being a disappointment flourish. He didn’t win every tournament under his belt, by any means, but it wasn’t until he was ranked high enough to participate in the 2000’s masters that a loss hit him so hard.
Coming back home as a second placer did not bode well with what he demanded of himself, thinking that because he lacked in certain areas of his life, he needed desperately to compensate in others. Everything pertaining to Gabriel needed to be handled carefully, it was easy to see that the boy didn’t treat himself kindly upon failure and naturally, the family had been wary of it, with reason too. After the failure in the masters and with other competitions approaching, he turned to performance enhancers. There was no denying his head felt more in the game, and he did better in practice. It wasn’t until the next year’s masters that he even attempted to take one for an official competition. He was busted, of course, his reputation tainted and he never saw his father as disappointed with him as he was at that moment. It was agreed that maybe he should take a break from the game, handle the penalties that were put his way and try another time, in a few years perhaps. Not knowing what he would do with his free time, Gabriel turned to working for Carmichael Roses, helping his mother with shipments and anywhere he couldn’t mess up. Golf had put him in a certain place at the school’s social hierarchy, but things definitely changed after his use of drugs hit the national news.
His next few years in school were a way for him to rebuild his reputation. He stopped using the enhancers and logged in extra hours in the therapist’s office to try and deal with the feelings properly. He got himself his first girlfriend, which would not end well on both parts, and while he wanted to follow the family’s footsteps and aim high for Stanford, he knew it was an unnecessary risk for his well being and years of treatment to try and fit in alongside people who were, for the lack of a better word, overachievers. By the time he was 17 years old, he had returned fully and carefully to golffing and because of the game, and how he was so good at rebuilding his image (alongside a marketing team, of course), Gabriel landed a sports scholarship to UCLA. Getting a superior education and having something to fall back on was Sylvie’s condition to let Gabriel play his game. It would soothe her heart, she used to say, but he was pretty sure that after the stunt he pulled on her, she would never stop worrying again. His father, on the other side, had forgiven him entirely after he apologized and swore to him he wouldn’t take anything. Truth be told, Gabriel missed the way golf made him feel, and while he had his fun while working at Carmichael’s, nothing quite compared to the thrill of being recognizably good at something.
His time at UCLA came with a nasty break, but breezed through. He was happy for the scholarship, although it wasn’t really necessary. He was the first, in a long time not to attend Stanford, but his parents seemed to be okay with it. He was trying and while he was going through college for his mother, there was nothing that could make him feel interested there. During the four years of university, Gabriel concentrated more than never in what he was there for. The close proximity with Catalina, made him able to commute and be home to practice with his father whenever the man could. Soon he would be making headlines again. Sports channels predicted a larger than ever return, because up until his 18th birthday, he had been only playing in minor tournaments, ranking himself up again, rebuilding his reputation from the ground up and handling all sorts of jokes from his peers. He would go on to play his next masters at 19, this time coming home with a victory, and that scene would repeat itself for the many years to come.
It wouldn’t be easy, but by the time he was 24 he managed to get his degree in psychology and the whole family was there to see it. Among every trophy and medal he had conquered so far, getting his diploma meant more to him than Gabriel was willing to admit. It meant, more than anything else, that he had conquered his childhood difficulties, and while he would always live with them in one way or another, he had spent years learning how to make himself better. Ever since he had enough money to do so, Gabriel has been very vocal about his support for organizations who do their part for kids who went through what he did and did his best to educate other people on what that meant for him and what it would mean for other children who had different experiences and harder experiences than he did. For years and before starting his own organization once he had a good influential level, he was a spokesperson for children and their parents. Especially those who weren’t as lucky as him. His condition was also one of the reasons why he chose his degree, and what made him even more proud to have gotten it. After his diploma, Gabriel would once again settle back in Catalina, despite his constant travels, the island would always be the home he would return to.
The next year, one day after his 25th birthday, Gabriel would receive a call in his parents home telling him of the passing of his best friend. Few things had been pivotal in changing the way Gabriel thought about things, or caused disruptive changes in his life. Peter had been someone he knew since he was 2 or 3 years old, he was always with the family, almost glued to Gabriel’s hip in a way and he had commited suicide. Gabriel was devastated and numb at the same time. He would spend his next few months (and the rest of his life) doing everything to support Peter’s family, but even when everyone had moved on, he didn’t. He got depressive and reclusive, only leaving home for practice and even then, he took too many weeks off the game to process what had happened. While Sylvie and Johnathan had raised their children in a free environment, as a young boy, Gabriel had turned to the catholic church for many answers, he was regular in his attendance to Sunday church, he had a good relationship with the community, he went to the confessional weekly and thought that all those rituals brought his mind some peace, but once Peter passed away, there were no answers his church could give him. He went soul searching, he took a break from the game, traveled places, met new religions, but none quite spoke to him like spiritualism. He doesn’t know now if he considers himself to have broken up from catholicism, but he definitely found a place that gave tranquility to his heart when nothing else had done ever since Peter died. Gabriel’s depression gave place to peace and he was able to close that chapter in his life.
From late 2013 to middle 2020 Gabriel collected trophies and ranked high among other golf players such as his own father (who had retired to take care of his family) and Tiger Woods. He got endorsements, appeared (much to his chagrin) in underwear commercials. He was officially sponsored by Nike for the 2014 Rio Olympics and while he didn’t come home with a gold medal, he knew how to deal with that now. Despite his romantic slip ups, and those were many, Gabriel didn’t lose his place as a hopeless romantic, saying in many interviews, he wanted what his parents had: someone to be with him for the rest of his life.
Enter Rebecca. They would meet at a journalist and players get together after a particular game, during interviews. Truth be told, Gabriel never cared for any sport other than golf, but he would listen to her going over football plays forever. He was struck from the moment he met her. He would ask her out on a date, which would not go good, and be fairly surprised when she was the first one to contact him the next day. They would be together for three years total before Gabriel popped the question. He didn’t do it in the middle of the field, or anything for the world to see, it was just between the two of them. She would go on to plan the wedding alongside his mother and while being a romantic at heart, Gabriel knew better than to put himself in the middle. As the wedding approached, Rebecca changed, Gabriel brushed it off for wedding jitters, since the nuptials were so close. It would be an intimate ceremony, just the family, no media, no press, no nothing. It wasn’t until he knocked on her dressing room door on the morning of their wedding that he found a small note. She had ran away with her best friend, and claimed to be in love with him. Gabriel never took such a high leap again, but he still made some minor mistakes for love over the next few years. He had to go through some awkward press conferences after he was left.
Gabriel was thankful to have his game to fall back on. Rebecca had been a big part of his life for the last four years, but he needed to move on. In some ways, he was happy that she was happy. Was there anything he could ask more? He started prepping for the next Olympics and ranking high enough to be a part of the team. He was okay with being resumed to the one thing he loved the most (aside from his niece and nephew, of course). Being left at the altar only hyped people’s interest over him, his PO box had never been more full and he had good laughs about it.
Around November 2020, Gabriel got into a car accident with another friend. They were just making a short ride from his parents’ house to his friend when a car came straight towards theirs. In an attempt to get rid from the collision, Gabriel’s friend swerved and they ended up hitting a tree instead. His friend had the seatbelt on, but Gabriel, because the ride was so short, didn’t. In attempts to soften the blow and buffer the impact, he put his right hand on the dash, which caused him to dislocate his shoulder, shatter his thumb, broke his wrist and tore a ligament. A concussion cost him his consciousness and he would only wake up hours later after the surgery was done. Naturally, he was worried about his game, and was relieved when the doctor explained that the injury wouldn’t cost him his grip or his swing, but he needed to be careful, take it easy and not overstep himself and injure himself further. It would take him months to return fully and he needed to be patient with himself, although patience wasn’t exactly what Gabriel was known for.
Since the injury took him out of any future competitions, Gabriel has moved back to Catalina full time now, getting himself an apartment in Lafayette Square, large enough for him and his big ball of fur. His mother has been overwhelmingly around, but he doesn’t complain about it. His time is both devoted to his physical therapy and everything he needs to do, but also he has been spending a lot of time on the organization he has helped fund about two years ago and became his baby. The Smile Foundation came from an effort to help underprivileged children with learning disabilities to reach their full potential, Gabriel spends most of his time now at their building close to his home and makes sure to speak to children and parents alike. Since it’s non-profit they thrive out of other people’s volunteering and donations, and they have been offering a good space. Naturally, Gabriel is doing everything in his power to return to where he left, but it doesn’t mean that for the first time in forever he hasn’t been enjoying some off time from the game.
