My Weekly Workout Routine (For Now)
I am constantly a sucker for reading about people’s routines. I think we all are. We want to know what people are doing that is bringing them peace or keeping them organized or helping them be productive. We want to know what is making them feel like they are doing more, being more, achieving more, loving more, and we in turn want that more for ourselves. The thing is, we read these routines…

Day 30 of doing my best to be productive
Oh, wow, i've been doing this for about a month???? Really??? That's wild. Anyway, I have a bunch to do today and here's what I did:
Read for my English class (twice, since I accidentally read the wrong section).
Read for my forensic psych class.
Started my chapter 7 reading for developmental psych (turns out it's due next week not this week).
Re-read some of the book I'm teaching.
Worked out for the first time in over two weeks. (By the way, I HIGHLY recommend emkfit's videos on YouTube. I did a bit of dance in high school and so I find her dance workouts really fun and engaging - she even has one called something like "take it easy low mental health days workout," which I usually do whenever I'm feeling extra low)
Graded some of my student's work.
Finished my laundry from yesterday.
Made a few handouts for my students.
Had a zoom meeting for my club.
Had a work zoom.
Had a book club meeting.
Goals for Tomorrow:
Get to work on revisions for my essays.
Start writing the essays I have due next week.
Have a good day at work tomorrow.
I am very tired, so I'm going to go help out a friend with some work and then pass out!

hello ying !! you mentioned working out in your recent posts so i'm here to ask any advice or basic workouts you could give to a total newbie? feels kinda daunting, my only movement is walking around the house and playing w the dogs kshdsjjsbsj
hi lovely!!!! howre u doing hehehe
i think its great that you’re taking the first step!! yes it definitely is daunting, but yk — starting it is half the battle won ❤️ personally i found that doing workouts that i actually love are really good for me!! here’s some youtube videos i use, for example /
— a broadway workout tailored for HIIT / tabata (emkfit)
— a hamilton 20 min dance workout (kyra pro)
— a medley of songs for dancing (youtube!!)
— happy cardio 12 mins (pamela reif)
honestly youtube is FILLED with beginner stuffs and it def can be overwhelming so i recommend sticking to one video for a while (at least thats what helped me!!), i remember starting regular workouts and all i did was pamela reif’s happy cardio for 12 mins 😭 it was familiar enough that i wasn’t scared to try an entirely new routine, but still heart pumping enough to give a good sweat after :,)
another thing that i really recommend is setting your goals, bc the stronger your motivation is, the more likely you are to accomplish it (yes i know, you’ve heard this so many times. BUT ITS TRUE!!!) eg. a very vague goal would be “i want to lose weight” and thats just…….. how… huh. its not bad, but sometimes its just too vague to be properly motivating :( perhaps something more tailored for yourself would be “i want to lose weight so that i can feel more comfortable in my own skin, and i’d feel better about myself because i know i’m becoming a healthier version of me.” then we further pin it down by exploring ways you can reach point B. maybe it’s something like “i want to lose weight so that i can feel more comfortable in my own skin, and i’d feel better about myself because i know i’m becoming a healthier version of me. some steps i can take is making an exercise plan for myself, and i’ll make time to exercise twice a week, for XX minutes each session.” something like that!! it sounds SUPER overused and oversaid by a lot of people but i really promise, it works 😭😭 also an accountability buddy is rly useful (irl or online!!)
one last thing is that i honestly recommend to just stop whatever you’re doing (if you’re at home and not doing anything impt) if the motivation to exercise comes around. yes it will hit you like a truck. maybe it comes when you’re watching netflix. but please use the stupid timing of the motivation to work out bc trust me its worth it!!! but also take care of yourself, don’t exercise on an empty stomach and always take regular breaks to drink water and stretch ❤️

why are so many yt workouts titled with “burn fat!” or “lose xy calories!” like ma’am some of us want to work out simply to keep their body healthy and not to attain a ridiculous body ideal

Ok tumblr, a few months into quarantine, I got into fitness bc I knew I wanted to stay in shape especially in a time where I can't get out of the house often. I looked for videos I could follow until I found Chloe Ting! I did her 2 week shred challenge and a few more of her videos. They were all great!! Eventually I wanted to try something new. That's when I got into Pamela Reif. Her planned out schedules are fun to follow too! However, I was getting tired of the usual plain exercises, so I looked for something new. That's when I stumbled across the Mamma Mia HIIT Dance Workout from EMKFIT on Youtube! I tried it out and oh. my. goodness. It's amazing. When I was doing the workout, I didn't think the usual "WHEN WILL IT EEEEND. IT HURTSSS" thoughts because this dance workout really kept me going. Emily, the one who runs EMKFIT, really engages with the audience and keeps them going. This is another thing I enjoyed about her content. Upon exploring her channel, I found out that she has HIIT dance workouts to other artists too! (I'll link some below 💓) Sooo with that, I'd like to say that I hiiiighly recommend Emkfit's channel to take a break from your usual workouts! Her videos really do make me happy. Enjoy the workouts!!

Please enjoy my terrible attempts to get a good picture of this outfit. Woke up with terrible cramps but a shed Irkutsk anyway. Did a dance hiit from my new favorite YouTuber emkfit to 90s pop songs. She’s fun because the hiit style means she can explain the dance moves so even my slow learning self can keep it up and it’s a good level of fun flailing so it’s a good time

My bad anxiety day go tos are Great British Bake-Off (not fictitious but alas), Miraculous, and New Girl. I also really like to read easy ya romances like stuff by Kasie West or Morgan Matson.
6. say three nice things about yourself (three physical and three non-physical).
I have pretty hair, I have one dimple which I think is cute, and my legs are longggg. I’m smart, I’m empathetic, and I’m always willing to help.
11. What’s your ideal date?
Museum and lunch! I did this with my ex and it’s one my favorite dates I’ve ever been on! You have plenty of time to talk and I love museums. Plus, you get a sense of people’s humor. Also I love food and history so . . .
24. what’s something you do to de-stress?
Generally, I like to read to de-stress, but when it’s really bad and I can’t stand still, I like to dance. I’m a big fan of Emkfit on YouTube who has dance hiit workouts and the playlists are themed. So I find one I like and I do that for 20 minutes, and I get some of that bad energy out.
25. what’s the best personal gift someone could give you (playlist, homemade card, etc.)
I’ve never really thought about it. I think a playlist? Just something that shows that they know me and thought about it bit.
26. what movie fictional world would you want to live in?
First thought, Percy Jackson. But like … monsters? Idk. Maybe Harry Potter but like after the events of the books? (Ignoring the disaster for canon that Cursed Child was) I want magic but I want to live lol
