Summary - You’re a medical Trainee on The Orville and are introduced to Ed Mercer out of the blue. 

Contents - No smut, all fluff and cuteness. One swear word.

It had been a few months now since you joined the crew of The Orville, training alongside Doctor Claire Finn in the medical facility. She was as lovely as you had expected, and so incredible in her skill and teachings. You had learnt a lot from her in such a short space of time, moreso than you probably would have under anyone else's supervision. Meeting some of the crew, you had realised they were all genuine people, and you constantly kept your fingers crossed that you passed the medical training. You knew deep down this ship was where you were meant to be.

You were pottering about the Sick Bay, just keeping equipment in check and making sure everything was in working order. Today had been quite slow as regards to patients, so you had some down time to familiarise yourself with things. Claire had taken a break to see to her sons, so you enjoyed the peace while it was present. Gazing out of the window you watched the stars whizz by in the black atmosphere. How was this even real? What a view! The sound of the automatic doors opening broke you from your trance, you turned to see Captain Ed Mercer tumble into the room. He grabbed his arm as he leant on one of the beds, his face twisted with discomfort.

"I need medical attention" he whinged "Where's Doctor Finn?" He asked, desperation in his broken voice.

"She's away right now captain" you rushed to his side, helping him to position himself upright on the bed "Let me take a look" you gently eased his hand away which gripped his wound. The sleeve of his blue uniform had been torn to shreds, and a deep wound left on his skin which bled rapidly.

"Shit" you whispered, the word caused Ed to blink in slight panic "do you know what you're doing?" He asked, realising he was unsure of your name "are you a student?" 

Was he unsure of your ability?

Ed watched your face, reading your eyes as you remained calm, but the ideas in your mind processed rapidly as you tried to figure out the best procedure for this situation. How had he not have remembered you? You were absolutely beautiful, your eyes glimmered and your skin looked soft to touch "arghhh!" He yelled as you pressed the soaked cloth against his exposed wound.

"Just clearing up some of the mess Captain" you smiled as you gazed into his mysterious dark eyes. You had admired Ed since you boarded the ship, how handsome and charming he was. But never had the opportunity to meet him formally, you had known your introductions would happen if you passed your probation. But now the meeting happened prematurely.

"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" He laughed nervously, watching you pull out the Dermoscanner. You hadn't used this unsupervised yet, but had seen Claire use it enough to know its purpose and how it functioned.  Activating the scanner, you ran the beam of light across his wound. Your breathing slowed down with the anticipation, until you felt as though your lungs had stopped altogether, yet your heart pulsed in your ears. You couldn't mess this up, not on the Captain! But it wasn't too long until the surface had fully healed. You took a step back and nodded, admiring your handiwork. Your first solo treatment, and on Ed Mercer no less.

"Wow" Ed smiled as he rubbed the now healed area of his skin "you really know what you're doing. Have you passed probation yet?"

"Nope" you shook your head as you spoke "not long to go though!" You smirked impishly "perhaps you could leave me a gleaming review, Captain"

Ed wasn't sure if it was the way you smiled in this moment, or the cheeky tone of your voice. Whatever it was, it sent a delightful chill up his spine. How had he not seen you before? Your eyes bore into his, and you both felt the sparks flying between you. You drew closer together, like magnets unable to resist one another. The sensation of his sweet breath on your lips made you crave his kiss, should you have such feelings for the Captain? Your lips barely touched when the door opened, causing you to both break the moment. You jumped backwards and fumbled with the device still in your grip, while Ed stood up from his seated position.

"What's going on?" Doctor Finn asked frantically "Captain, is something wrong" she noticed the tear in his sleeve, her brows knotted with confusion.

"Not anymore" Ed smiled and gestured toward you "this excellent medical professional saw to me. I suggest you keep her around Doctor" he caught your eye and winked. You felt your stomach flutter and took your gaze away from his, listening to his footsteps leave the Sick Bay you wondered if Claire had seen how close you had become to the Captain in that moment.

"Well I see" Claire smirked, a knowing look in her eye. She took the Dermoscanner from your grip "Have I taught you how to use one of these unsupervised yet?" She laughed, placing it back into its holder. Your cheeks flushed pink, unable to think of anything to say in this situation "I apologise Doctor Finn, I used my initiative in the moment and..."

Claire interrupted "it's fine! Honestly. I'm impressed if anything" she smiled warmly towards you "I haven't checked the medical files today, can you please update them for me?"

With a nod you took yourself to the desk and took a seat, adjusting yourself comfortably in front of the computer screen. You tapped the pad to awaken the screen from its resting mode and a message popped up. It was from Captain Ed Mercer -

"Thankyou for helping me today. Meet me in the Mess Hall at 8pm for a drink"

Biting on your lip you felt your cheeks flush warm again. 8pm it was.

New Year, New Requests!

I think I’m going to make a choice that might not be popular but with the new year here, I think I’m gonna delete the requests I have and sort of start over. I mean sort of because I’d be willing to do requests that had been requested and continue some of the wips I started but only if the requester comes back and lets me know that they’re still around and wanting the fic. I’m doing this because, you know, new year new requests and I haven’t posted a fic in a long time thanks to my blog being hidden for 3 months. I know I have a lot of requests that I’m scraping and I’m sorry about that but it’s very overwhelming and I hope you understand <3

That being said, I’m putting the requests below the cut for those who requested them to remember which ones are theirs and to let me know! But Peter's shy and awkward because he thinks no one like her would like someone like him because they're so different from one another. I love everything about newly-human!Cas in season 9 (and Cas’s hedonistic tendencies in general). I have to imagine that, as a human, he just feels things with an intensity that angels just don’t feel, as if with human lifetimes so condensed, their senses are intensified to make up for it in a way that would be overwhelming for a hugely powerful/nearly immortal creature like an angel.

So give me any story about Cas’ exploring and fully embracing the sensual pleasures of sex (with Dean). I love Season 9 canon-divergence fics where Dean lets him stay in the bunker. Perhaps after his first taste of sex with April, Cas wants to add to his experiences by having sex with a male-bodied human/someone he deeply cares about (ie, DEAN). Dean may still be struggling with his own internalized homo/bi-phobia but it’s hard for him to resist Cas with his insatiable curiosity about how the human body works, having no filters/no taboos and just wanting to taste/touch/experience until he/they both are completely overwhelmed.

The ship/canon where I will eternally want tentacle smut! Michael seems so ashamed of his fire-squid demon form. I want him to find out that Eleanor actually finds it kind of a turn-on and would love to find a way she could...experience it. Since we know Michael can create simulations/realities (like he does in “The Trolley Problem”), maybe he can create one where Eleanor can see/experience a version of himself that won’t, you know, destroy the entire neighborhood or burn her to a crisp?

Julie and the Phantoms (any) As said in my sign-up, platonic shenanigans are my favourite for these characters :) I love them all to about equal amounts and wouldn’t mind any combination of these characters. Fluff would be show-stopping bc I’m losing my mind about the softness that is canon and definitely enjoy expansions of that but feel free to let your creativity roam!! The Orville (Kelly Grayson, Ed Mercer) I'd gladly receive any kind of content for Ed or Kelly or both, romantic or platonic doesn't matter to me. The part I loved most about these two characters in canon is both their capability as captain and commander, as well as the complexity of their friendship and their romantic relationship. Ever After High (Raven Queen, Apple White) Unlikely friendship and entertwined fates is my jam. I don’t know what else to say about these two. Enola Holmes (any) I love that movie a whole fucking lot. My favourite parts were all the family-themed bits, and I don’t necessarily mean blood-related. The sublety of the romance was also great. Enola and Sherlock interacting with each other in regards to detective work needs special mention because if you choose these two for your fic, that was my favourite part of their canon relationship. I’ll always have a soft spot for anything family related tho, both blood-related or found, so you really can’t go wrong in this fandom.  RYAN H. BAILEY, a native of Park Forest, IL, has been living in Texas since 1996, and currently resides in Fredericksburg, TX with his wife Tommie and daughter Rachel. He has been acting since his first year of college in 1994 at Lewis University near Joliet, IL, when as a student merely working in the theater scene shop, got caught playing the piano backstage one day and was asked to read for the younger lead role of Buddy in The Diviners, and he has been hooked ever since. Ryan has had no formal training, and since moving to Texas, he has performed in around three dozen community Theater Productions throughout the Hill Country area. Some favorite roles include Camille Chandebise in A Flea in her Ear, Max in Lend Me A Tenor, Smee in Peter Pan, Rapunzel's Prince in Into the Woods, Pharoah in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Feste in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Sancho in Man of La Mancha, Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace, Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way To The Forum, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Amadeus, and most recently Garry Lejuene in Noises Off! Ryan has also played a variety of the roles originated by Jaston Williams in two separate productions each of Greater Tuna and A Tuna Christmas, the most recent ones being produced in 2015 at the Fredericksburg Theater Company. Additionally, Ryan enjoys nature photography, woodworking, playing piano, drawing, model building (basically anything artistic), and multiple other aspects of theater, including directing, light and set design/construction, musical direction, and original music composition for plays. Ryan is currently employed as a surgical technician at Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, TX.

 TIM LEAVON is an American artist better known for his work as a stage and film actor. He first burst onto the stage as the Mischievous Monkey in his 2nd grade production of The Mighty Circus and has been essentially reprising that role ever since. After being unceremoniously removed from his high school theatre program and leaving The University of Montevallo without a BA in theatre, Tim found a home in the bustling theatre community of Birmingham, Alabama where he first appeared in Equus at Theatre Downtown, winning the award for Best Actor by the Hobo Awards for his role as Alan. He then went on to fortuitously appear in productions of Greater Tuna and Tuna Does Vegas at Terrific New Theatre under the legendary Carl W Stewart. He spent a year touring as a lead cast member with Birmingham Children's Theatre Company. Tim is also a cast member of Birmingham's premiere improv comedy group Ugly Baby with whom he has appeared at the Del Close Marathon in New York and the Spontaneous Combustion festival in Atlanta. He was also featured with Ugly Baby as one of 3 'Funniest People in Birmingham' in B-Metro Magazine. He then moved to Los Angeles to study the film industry, appearing as lead in films Roomies, Shepard, You Have Arrived, and Halloween Hell House. He can also be seen as lead in the web series Web-Camelot and L.A. Nites. He completed improvisational and character training at UCB West and Groundlings Theatre and has since returned to Alabama as their Native Son to start his Production Company Cool Beans who's first projects include We Are Frogs Now and Courtin' Carl.

 Will Mercer grew up in Wimberley, TX, playing the piano and singing in church. As a High School student, Will was an active member of the Speech and Debate team, competing at the State and National level. Will attended Texas State University where he earned a BA and MA in Communication Studies. After college, Will spent 25 years in corporate America serving in leadership positions in the areas of Training and Development, Change Management, and Leadership Development. He now works for himself as an Organizational Development Consultant and Software Developer focusing on small and mid-size business. In addition, Will has taught in the Communication Studies department at Texas State University as an Adjunct Instructor for 28 years. Will was honored to receive the Outstanding Alumni Award from the department in 2009. Will has been performing in the vibrant Central Texas community theatre scene for many years. Some of his favorite roles include Wardell in Sordid Lives, Inspector Kemp in Young Frankenstein the Musical, and Clifton in Who's in Bed with the Butler. In 2015, Will had the opportunity to tackle Greater Tuna. Will ?rst met these characters in 1985 as an audience member at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, TX. It was the ?rst live, professional theater he had experienced. Needless to say, he fell in love with the theatre and the show. Playing Thurston, Elmer, Bertha, Yippy, Leonard, Pearl, R.R., Rev. Spikes, Sheriff Givens, and Hank resulted in Will receiving the 2015 Best Leading Actor in a Play (Comedy) from BroadwayWorld Austin. Will currently resides in Austin, TX, with his husband of 3 years. Will has two grown children who also live in Austin. He enjoys cooking, coffee, and making great theatre!
