So, I just had a dream about Mr. Puzzles (SMG4). It's very weird, so brace yourself. - Mr. Puzzles/Reader Fanfiction I guess??? created by: HazelMist's Unconscious

Um, so…I just had a strange dream with Mr. Puzzles. Specifically, a dream where he announced the new PuzzleVision merch. It was a 1960s style commercial…kind of, I guess. I have barely watched any 1960s commercials, so I'll just say It was black and white, except for Mr. Puzzles smile. and the commercial was animated.

So In the start of the dream, I wake up. and see In my notifications, that SMG4 uploaded a video. titled "NEW PUZZLEVISION MERCH!" I was extremely excited and hoped they had made a plushie of Mr. Puzzles. so I clicked on it, and uh...this Is how the commercial was.

So, he Is first walking down a lonely street, and see's someone leaning on a pole. uh, that person was Y/N... And they were wearing a plain T shirt, with oversized baggy pants. Not very fitting for the 1960s, but 🤷‍♀️. Mr. Puzzles noticed them, and walk right up to them and said

"Well, hello there my dear~! I'm your friend Mr. Puzzles, and- Oh god, what the hell are you wearing. Your outfit Is so boring, It makes an Average Joe look special."

Uh…Couldn't tell If my unconscious was insulting me or not, because I enjoy wearing plain T shirts and baggy pants. Then Y/N looked down in embarrassment. Then Mr. Puzzles grabbed their hand, and kept walking. but Mr. Puzzles was so tall, that Y/N was almost tripping. but then he stopped, and looked right at Y/N, and suggested

"Hey, I've got the solution to your problem! Why don't you buy some of the latest PuzzleVision merchandise? Your fashion sense would be amazingly blinding! Why not try on our Mario's Mysteries T shirt? Blue's clues and Mario fans would be confused by your stunning (not bootleg…) shirt, and you would attract many PuzzleVision fans!"

The shirt was basically the Mario's Mysteries thumbnail, Then he handed Y/N the shirt, and they responded "W-Wha..? but I don't even watch-" Then Mr. Puzzles cut them off

"Oh, and If you didn't like Mario's Mysteries, we have T shirts of our other episodes too! It would normally be 300.000.00$, but since you are special to me~ I'll make a discount! It's now only 30.00$!"

The shirts were also the thumbnail of the episodes. Then he threw them In a dressing room, and Y/N came out with the Once upon an SMG4 T shirt on. Mr Puzzles clapped his hands excitedly and said "Oh my dear! You look absolutely gorgeous! And If you get cold with only a T shirt, Buy our Mr. Puzzles Hoodie! It's 50.00$!"

The hoodie was a picture of Mr. Puzzles sitting in a chair, with his legs crossed. with a smug face. then afterwards, he said to them

"And I will be going soon, but If you want to keep me with you forever, then you should get…"

Then he pulled out a Mr Puzzles plushie, except It looked kinda weird. He didn't have his bowler hat, and he didn't have his color bar smile, It was just a straight line for a mouth. Anyways, he continued

"This adorable version of me, In plush form! Take It with you everywhere you go! Or If you don't want to get it dirty, just keep It on your shelf! But If you aren't the plushie collector type, Here Is an awesome figurine!"

It was a figurine of Mr. Puzzles doing a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure esque pose, with his maniacal face. and then he showed another figurine.

"Oh, and here Is another action figure of….that one inkling guy!"

The figurine barely looked like Oneshot wren though, and It wasn't even an Inkling. It looked like someone tried to recreate Wren In Plotagon. and didn't Western Spaghetti already have It's own merch? I kind of forgot what else Mr. Puzzles said, but he showed some Mr Puzzles Pins and Keychains that were both In chibi style. they were really cute! not like that Oneshot Wren figure…And after showing all the merch, He said

"Now, Let's skip time to a few weeks, and see how much these items have affected you!"

And then there was the Spongebob time card that said "2000 years later" and we are back with Mr Puzzles and Y/N, Except he is holding a microphone now, and asks them

"So, how much have my great merch helped you In life?" and then Y/N says something like "Nothing much has changed-"

and then the commercial rewinds, and goes back to when Mr. Puzzles asked that question. and then Y/N says "Oh, I feel much more happier now! with my amazing T shirts, I have so many more friends, and everyone wants to hang out with me! and I am enjoying your company, In plush form! Thank you, Mr. Puzzles!"

Then Mr. Puzzles responded "You're welcome! Have a great day, my darling!

Then, the commercial cuts to a blank screen, showcasing all the merch. and some strange announcer voice, that was definitely not Mr. Puzzles, their voice was very deep. says something like… "Go buy the new PuzzleVision Merch In smg4.store today!"

And then the video finished, and I was very confused of what I just saw. but then I might have waken up.

and uhhh…I think thats all I remember. If you made It this far, thanks for reading me ramble about some nonsensical dream I had last night. I probably dreamt It because I am TERRIBLY DESPERATE to have a Mr. Puzzles plushie. If I feel like It, I might try to make an animatic based on this dream. I might post It on Youtube. But I dunno, would you actually want to see that?

I would love to hear what you have to say about fashion history aestheticizing history! I no longer work in the industry, but my last long-term job was in film/television costuming, specifically 20th century vintage, and we were also involved in the vintage fashion market, and some of her way people really into vintage fashion and how they approach history in a romanticized way based on aesthetics alone is genuinely alarming in a way that is ignorant at best and reactionary at worst - I know everyone rightfully complains about how Gatsby parties miss the point, but I also remember reading about a racist vintage party with a 1930s Shanghai theme where people were encouraged to dress up as white and Japanese colonizers, and recently, I saw something about a Fall of the Weimar Republic party that really made me wonder if anyone involved knew what that entailed beyond glamorous 1930s aesthetics.

Gladly. Though may I start by saying the concept of a "Fall of the Weimar Republic party" makes me as a historian of the German speaking world feel more than a little sick to my stomach.

I think it's very necessary to caveat a bit by saying that I'm not going to say that fashion history is bad. I respect it greatly as a discipline. Nor am I above history bounding. I own corsets (one of them even has steel boning.) I have scrolled wistfully through the American Duchess website before remembering that a graduate student stipend does not allow for period accurate Edwardian leather boots. I'm not going to say that I have the high ground to be the fun police. I don't.

My issue is really the popularity of it over other ways to engage with the past. It feels as though the history content creation sphere that isn't men telling you numbers about world wars is heavily skewed towards discussions of clothing and aesthetics. And most of them are about the upper class and what they would wear at a particular time.

And this wouldn't be an issue if it was an entry point to understanding history more broadly, but at least from my observations it doesn't seem to be. The only piece of historical misinformation I see routinely corrected in comment sections is when someone suggests that women in the past didn't love their corsets. And believe me, that is not the only piece of misinformation out there by a long shot.

My concern is that the aesthetic and vintage clothing has become a surface level way to engage with the past in the same way that military bros do with the specs of tanks. It becomes trivia about what hem lines or silhouettes identify an era. It's not the patterns of consumption or the labor conditions that create those garments.

The fact is that this is more often than not (and I can think of creators who go out of their way to not do this) the fashion of a privileged class that we still have. So, this aesthetic version of the past is the idealized version of the leisure class. So, whose lives are we imagining when the majority of the history content online is about fashion?

I literally drew this in the mobile sketchbook app with no fancy tools (aka anything you need to actually make a drawing good. Stylus, a drawing surface bigger than that which can fit in your hand, etc.) I'm too broke for that stuff. So it's pretty messy, but I hope you like it!

@mistofstars asked me what i think Heide was doing in the 15 years Roland was comatose and i'm gonna try to answer that. Disclaimer: this is not gonna be serious at all.

1. First possibility: just like the writers probably think of her Heide displayed all the characteristics of a NPC and was either standing around in a corner in the house or sitting at Rolands hospital bed so that Leo can have the same conversation over and over again:

Heide: Hallo Krankenhausbesucher, Roland ist durch einen tragischen Unfall vor langer Zeit ins Koma gefallen...

Heide 1: Mein Mann hat bei einem Brand zu viel Rauch eingeatmet. Wenn mein Sohn ihn nicht aus dem Feuer gezogen hätte, wäre er jetzt tot.

Heide 2: Adam war mein Sohn, er ist kurz nach Rolands Unglück verschwunden...

2. Second possibility: We know of one (1) hobby that Heide has and it's the only thing she did for fifteen years meaning that she is probably a yoga expert by now.

3. Third possibility: She went on a shopping spree buying tiger bed linen.

4. Fourth possibility: She played interior designer and designed the house meaning that the horror of the Betonklotz™ is actually to her taste and her (wrong)doing.

Harpentine owl house edition!

I have been fixating on Grace and Raphael for a while, and I ended up making a little toh au with them :] my guys :]

On their original story, Grace Harper comes from a family of vampire hunters and is one himself, Raphael Constantine is from a well known family of vampires, and their families have had a very bloody feud since they met. Through this, they decimated each other until Grace and Rafa were the last of their kin. Grace was hired to kill Rafa, but horribly gets the job wrong and instead falls in love with him (also this story does have some mature themes so, yknow, would reccomend minors to avoid the stuff i don’t share here that i post on my artblog)

More stuff under the cut

So on this AU, I changed things quite a bit. Grace is now a coven scout, due to family pressure. He would rather just take care of beasts and be a gardener, but oops gotta carry on the family’s expectations on you now that you’re the only one left alive.

Rafa is from a family of wild witches and he follows on this tradition, pretending to have a sigil and be on the plant coven. He has a quail palisman, and I know how close he looks and seems to be a Clawthorne but that was purely coincidence dsnjdnsfnjds. Also he is a half demon because I’m not sure how I could convey a bit of the vampire-ness (since vampires in the story have pointy ears)

As for how their chasing thing would happen, it’s not something fully in depth but I think I can keep their family feud thing by the Harpers keeping it a secret that the Constantines are wild witches so that they are the only ones who will hunt them down.

But slowly Grace opens himself to see stuff from Rafa’s perspective and how the coven system is pretty fucked up. He already didn’t like it, but quietly accepted as how things are. Rafa just helped him do something with this resentment. And a hot boyfriend too in the process fdjnnjdfnjds

Some bonus stuff, I put a bit of the modern au of them having been friends when they were younger, but quickly Grace changed schools and went to Glandus. Took a while for them to recognize each other though, since in this mean time Rafa transitioned + changed his name, and Grace has also transitioned (but kept his birth name) + is wearing the scout uniform when they meet again.

I realized that Glandus would have been a very fitting choice that his family would have made, since they want him to be competitive and aggressive, exaclty what Glandus encourages. He does not have a good time there.

He’s on the beastkeeping track because in the story he has an affinity with animals and also has a gardening spin, and Rafa also loves gardening, so their coven tracks were pretty easy to figure out. Basically why this whole idea started

This was a fun exercise, I had a lot of fun seeing what would change and what could be slightly shifted to fit the toh universe :3
