One thing I think the fandom doesn’t do enough is give Peeta a little more credit with with being cognizant of Katniss’s feelings for him pre hijacking. Now do I believe he did think Katniss preferred Gale after the whipping and think he was very selfless about that that night. But I do also think he noticed her avoiding Gale about it and them not acting like a couple at all afterwards. And from the point of her broken ankle to the QQ announcement I always thought that he was noticing the signs of her behavior changing, he just refused to admit it because he was wrong before and doesn’t think highly of himself. And then from the QQ announcement he refused to think about it because he’s accepted dying for her and Gale is an easier solution for him too. I think the hug on the train was a relief for both of them to act a little selfishly and just give in to what they wanted (each other) before dying for the other and to not overthink everything to death like they always do for the sake of others
Ooooh Non coming in with the hot takes! lol
We know that Peeta--or at least hijacked!Peeta who has slowly been getting his real memories back--believes that Katniss is in love with Gale and will choose him after the whipping. We also know that Peeta questioned Katniss whether or not she loved him, whether or not she liked kissing him or kissing Gale.
And I think that this probably tracks for how Peeta was figuring it out in real time. That he knew not all of the Games was an act, that Katniss sought physical affection from him, that she was willing to die for him. But at the same time, all he knows about the kiss between her and Gale (the first one) was that it happened. As far as Peeta knows, Katniss has never kissed Peeta of her own free will but she did with Gale. And she lost it when Gale was whipped, responded to Haymitch's jab about Madge with jealousy, and stayed up with Gale all night, and that Gale had to spend at least days (maybe even two weeks?) at the Everdeens' while his back healed. After, the lack of Gale coming over he can no doubt put the blame on Gale's work schedule. And we don't know that Gale never came over, but it would be odd if he never checked in on Katniss for weeks when not only she's been hurt, but also because he's trying to win her over so he's going to come over whenever he can. And as for their lack of couple-like behavior from Katniss and Gale could also be explained by the increase of Thread's presence and Snow's threat, so that any couple activities they did would have to be hush-hush from anyone else seeing or picking up on.
But the Quell, THAT had to change things. The distance he put between them during training seemed to signal his own preparation to ensure Katniss wanted and chose Gale, so that she'd let him die for her. But once Gale is gone and will only see them as an "act" and Katniss lets her vulnerability show to Peeta...like you said, it was a relief to both of them. Neither broke the hug, it was the attendant coming in. Yet I also think it's important to remember how Katniss also got upset at Peeta for calling her pure and shut him out when she saw what happened to Darius and kept her distance at training (and resenting Johanna showing off her breasts, which she associated with Peeta and the elevator). Then she's back to being loving, and then the cameras were on. All of that to say, even when they're at their strongest (Quell-reaping onward) there's still bumps and difficulties as well as like you mentioned, Peeta pushing Gale forward toward Katniss so that she would live. As for the undeniable married-vibes they give off, as you said, Peeta could also explain those away. That she needs comfort, too, in these last days. That she's such a heroic, self-sacrificing person she would die for any number of people and he's no different. And again that wound he has of not seeing his worth and feeling unloved.
Thanks for sending your thoughts Non!

Hi! I’m really excited that you’ve added Father I don’t wanna get married! I must say you’re my favorite writer.
Can I get romantic yandera with Regis? Like Reader is duchess who just recently become a widow. Her husband was the Royal advisor of emperor, so she was forced took that job even before her tears were dried. Emperor dumbs all of his work to her which means overworking, because of that she often pull all nighter and missing meals. Sooner her influence in noble society grew so much that emperor cannot ignore it anymore. So he made reader marry Regis by force, so that regis could take care of her when time comes. Sooner they fallen love even though it was a long and hard journey, and she was the mother that our fl wanted. She always protected fl from anything. Og fl devolved her obsession in og timeline. Of course, where’s the angst? Sooner reader’s health was at the rock bottom, she could barely even take a walk without getting tired only few minutes later. But that trashy emperor still made her work, then emperor decided to get rid of reader and blamed her for treason, reader knowing this day will come just calmly walked towards to Royal knight who were send to arrest her. She was tortured(like many bad things) for few days before being beaten to death, her corpse were a burned and nothing was left. Then Regis after regressing(?) become obsessed with her along side his daughter…
You can just ignore it if any of them made you uncomfortable!
characters: regis adri floyen, jubelian eloy floyen, darius zeferon ashet
cw/tw: torture, death, forced marriage, regression, obsessive behavior, delusional behavior, health issues, hanging, declining health, romantiscized mental illness(if yandere origin or meaning is that of a mental illness)
notes: decided to change reader being beaten to death to just being simply hanged in front of the emperor, i also made it that Regis regressed after killing himself when he killed everyone in the palace, fem!reader, widow reader, romantic yandere
a/n: hskshajwypkvd- i'm your favorite writer?
Tumblr media
-You should've seen this coming before as the widow of the emperor's royal advisor, instead of realising it too late.
-It was soon after your husband's funeral that the emperor out of the blue assigned you the job of royal advisor, seemingly dismissive of the fact that you're not even a week in after the funeral.
-But that kept you from thinking about your dead lover as your papers kept piling from the imperial palace to your beautiful dukedom that you inherited from your late-husband, not caring if you lost sleep or that your complection was worse, work came first. you should've understood that your health was. declining when you almost passed out several times a week
-When Regis heard of it, he knew there was no reason to argue with the emperor, as he could easily kill his daughter, so, with out any complaints, the two of you got married.
-But with your sudden rise in power because of the emperor, your influence over the nobles tremendously also raised. Unfortunately, that made the emperor anxious and in fear of your newly gained power, arranging you to marry Regis from the Floyen dukedom.
-When Jubelian heard of the news, she was exctatic! She's getting a new mother? That's amazing! When you and Jubelian met for the first time, it was surprisingly great! You two planned to meet during tea time, deciding to introduce yourselves so you could get to know each other better, as well as the two of your childhoods
-You soon grew attached to Jubelian, as Jubelian also became emotionally attached to you. But when you found out that Regis was practically never there for Jubelian's entire childhood? You knew what you had to do, after comforting and consoling Jubelian, you went to Regis' office and demanded an explanation to why he basically neglected Jubelian, in which his answer angered you even more.
-And when push comes to shove, you scolded and explained why Regis not being there to "protect" his daughter did more harm than good for almost an entire hour. not even stopping to breathe! Although it was a rocky start at first, your forced marriage slowly turned into one of actual love.
-After him reconciling with his daughter, he wanted to thank you, so he brought you your favorite flowers and desert in your free time, suggesting to go on an outing with Jubelian sometime soon. You, of course, accepted and even hired a painter to paint the three of you on that outing, wanting to capture that moment with your beloved daughter and husband.
-But when the two of you finally fully fell in love, your health suddenly hit the lowest of lows, not even being able to walk for long, and heaven forbid you running for at least ten seconds! Even at the lowest of points in your life, the emperor still forced you to work, treating you like a toy that he uses until it either breaks, or he sees no use for it anymore.
-For Jubelian, you wrote about how you wished you could've seen her grow older and into a beautifuly lady, assigning her as your heir to your dukedom, as well as writing how much you became emotionally attached and how it breaks your heart knowing she'll grow up without a mother again
-And when you actually passed out when working? He decided that there was no use for you anymore, as your health was already horrible, he decided to frame you for treason, demanding that you'd be executed in front of him and only him. (Un)fortunately, you knew this would happen when your health deteriorated even more. before being executed and tortured, you wrote two different letters; one for Jubelian, and one for Regis.
-And for Regis? An apology letter as well as parts where you reminisce about the times you two had together, as well as writing about Jubelian and deciding her to be the one to inherit everything you owned. Of course, you asked the head maid to give the two letters to them after you went to the royal knights without putting up a fight.
-Regis was heartbroken, but couldn't even cry. He now only had Jubelian again, desperately trying to comfort her after she read the letter you wrote her.
-Assumingly by the emperor's orders, you were emotionally tortured, as well as a bit physically, resulting you into becoming that akin to a soulless doll, the way your eyes would usually sparkle became dull, reminding everyone of an abyss looking straight at them, as well as becoming numb to physical pain. After four days of torture, you were hung in front of the emperor.
-And when Jubelian killed herself? That was the last straw for him, murdering everyone in the palace before killing himself. But when he killed himself, his eyes immediately opened, seemingly in the past? He immediately went into his newborn's, Jubelian's, room, confirming himself that he, indeed has regressed
-And with this, he promises himself to never let the emperor cause any pain for Jubelian and you, even if he has to kill the emperor himself, as he already did that in his past life.

in your eyes, what do you think would be the quote unquote preferred type of spouse for both eden and darius? as in behavior, personality etc? im pretty sure they both prefer someone submissive but besides that, do they want someone who's always sub or do they enjoy a little fighting back? do they want someone who just does as they're told or do they prefer the power that comes from forcing them to submit, that kinda stuff... hope this isn't muddled to read, english isn't my first language 😅
Eden pretty much is going to like a tradwife archetype. Does what they want, let's them do what they want, keeps them fed and makes em cum. Eden won't care about your looks, gender or aesthetics.
Darius is much the same, but he gives a big fuck about your looks, gender and aesthetics. As I've stated before, he's got a lot of internalised homophobia and misogyny.
If you can be perceived as Cis Female even with masculine aesthetics, he'll let you get away with a lot and prefers tomboys. He finds the pushback charming but still keeps a tight leash around your neck.
Everyone else, he needs you to be hyperfeminine. He needs you to be as TradWife as possible to stop himself getting self-conscious about the attraction.
Blame his father. Fucking Richard.

It might be terrible, but i like to imagine a scenario where some time after the epilogue, just when Hunter has somewhat healed and got used to his new life, something bad happens that threatens his new life and his family, and Hunter either goes a little feral or just shuts down.
in particular i imagine it as Darius getting injured, maybe because of a plot from remaining Belos supporters or even a freak accident, and for double angst Hunter either shuts down, not knowing what to do, or immediately goes after whoever caused the injury, so later he blames himself for doing that instead of actually helping (as he sees it).
Honestly, while the main threat (Belos and the Emperor's Coven in general) is gone, it is likely things will be a bit of a struggle for a while. On one hand, there's the rogue Coven Heads that still seemed to want to keep the Empire going except with them at the helm, aka, Terra, Adrian and Vitimir, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's not only them, but other scouts who don't love the dissolution of Belos' reign and would like back the power they used to have.
There were some really weird scouts out there, like that one that wanted to straight up kill Hunter for kicking them.
So yeah, I can totally picture some kind of accident occurring and it would make sense if it's, say, the rogue ex-Coven Heads, going after Darius, Eber and Raine since they were the rebels who they could easily blame for "ruining everything", even if they were proven right when it came to Belos' intentions. How they could get the jump on Darius is hard to say since he's, well, Darius, and I love him a lot but my man is a little bit overpowered with that skillset of his. Their best chance would probably do the same thing they did during the Day of Unity and weaponize someone he cares about against him, because Darius particularly tends to panic when his loved ones are on the line.
I could see them potentially targeting them during some kind of family outing because then they have Darius and Eber right there, which means they can also use Hunter and Eber to keep Darius from tearing them to pieces right there if they're fast enough.
What I'm picturing here is they try to take them by surprise and perhaps they DO grab Hunter, Eber and Darius freeze a bit because that's their kid and they might risk many things but they wouldn't risk him, and even if it's a moment of distraction only, it's just enough for someone to attack Darius and injure him.
That would probably only work if Hunter's teleportation magic is a bit flickery and doesn't always work, but I imagine he would absolutely lose his head as soon as he sees Darius bleeding, and while perhaps the smart choice would be to grab him and try to get him away or stay behind to guard him while Eber fights (like Eber would probably tell him to do), considering how protective Hunter is, I think he would definitely have a little moment of shock and then get absolutely vicious with whoever it was that managed to hurt Darius... probably Terra considering those three skillsets, hers is the better suited for that.
Between him and Eber, they can probably at least fend them off and get Darius somewhere safer, but then the guilt is so gonna hit Hunter because while he didn't want to leave Eber alone either, he just sees Darius looking a bit pale and thinks that not only was it his fault, but his first instinct was to attack instead of staying by his side like Darius would probably have done and now he feels like the worst person on the Realms.
They're going to need a long talk about how protecting Darius and Eber is not Hunter's responsibility and it's also not his fault that everyone knows they're protective enough of him that he makes good bait if they can get their hands on him.
(By the way, this comes at a really good time because this lovely fic has a very similar premise to what you described, and if you haven't already, you should totally go check it out)

How do the kids parents and the twins react to the grimwalkers? You mentioned Odalia was disgusted at the thought of a clone.
What do the kids think of their oret's families and do they end up living with them?
Hazel feels a bit off with Willow's parents, but they love her as their daughter either way.
Gareth is actually a functional teenage boy because Darius and Eber, having experience with grimwalkers, took care of him and assured him that he wasn't a replacement, and was his own person.
Iniko is... doing okay. He holds a sort of resentment for existing because he'll always see himself as a reflection of someone else. Perry was very loving to him, though.
Mica... isn't doing so well. Odalia sees her as an abomination, Alador mourns his daughter that he never got to knew and see her as a way to "restart", and the twins can't help but compare the way she acts with Amity (they lost their little sister, who can blame them). On top of this, she's in love with a person who will NEVER want her back.
So yeah Mica's not having a good time.

About Darius taking responsibility for the Emerald Entrails in ASIAS
>This is absolutely a headcanon reading based on overthinking and overanalyzing minute details. I don't think the creators had actually thought any deeper than moving the plot and emotional bits from one place to another when they made Darius collect the kids (and it's ok, i think there are several very intentional moments that point to Darius being a good guy in that episode, and those are more important, but that's a topic for a different meta).
>But since the fandom has no problem using headcanon readings based on outright absense of information to paint Darius in the worst possible light, and everyone takes it as THE canon, why can't I write a positive interpretation? At least i realize that my reading is not the ultimate canon, and i try to somewhat base it on what information we have about the characters and the world😁.
So, when Hunter calls Darius, why does Darius even go out of his way to call the scouts and then collect the kids personally?
He certainly doesn't have to do it. He can tell Hunter that it is Hunter's own responsibility to deal with the potential recruits, or he can just stall for time and arrive much too late because "he was busy". Wouldn't it be better if Hunter fails to apprehend the children - both for the interests of the rebellion and for Darius's personal gratification, especially IF Darius is constantly as spiteful towards Hunter as he was just after he saw the previous Golden Guard's sigil? (If it is Darius' usual attitude wouldn't he also be spiteful in the phone scene, or gleefully telling Hunter to finish the mission by himself, instead of just acting annoyed/exasperated? Hmmm... but this is also a topic for another meta.)
From Darius' perspective what would happen if he doesn't collect the kids/the scouts don't collect the kids?
The likely scenarios are:
Either Hunter actually convinces someone to join the Covens - and it's not the best thing from the rebellion's perspective or moral grounds, but it can't be a lot of recruits, and there is a recruiting campaign going on anyway, so bothering with them might be unecessary. Or Hunter causes a scene and possibly someone - either he or other kids - gets hurt; maybe even teachers and parents and random scouts get involved. Actually a potential scandal like this might be a bad PR for the Emperor's Coven or cause a divide between the Emperor and his nephew (i assume that most people who know that they are related also think that Hunter is the heir to the throne), so, again, is it necessary to bother?
But Darius choses to get involved, even though at the moment it might be better not to attract attention to himself - both because of the rebellion, but also just in general potentially getting tangled in some public scandal won't be great, right? Especially with the front Darius puts on of someone who doesn't care and hates to be bothered. So why does he decide to get involved? Maybe you can say that he thinks that afterwards Hunter might shift the blame on to him for giving him the mission. Only Darius is planning to let the children go anyway, and that's something that he can be potentially blamed for (if Hunter doesn't change his mind), so it doesn't seem like he is afraid of it. So, instead, maybe he gets involved because he has morals and doesn't want the children - whether the random kids or Hunter - to get hurt.
And, while we don't know how exactly Darius's teleportation ability works (there should be some limitations obviously), he can probably sneakily teleport the kids away from the cells without anyone noticing. Then he doesn't need to be publicly involved. Just have the random scouts who guarded them take the fall... But maybe Darius is willing to take the full responsibility for those children, instead? Maybe he even realizes that the whole situation was caused by him and sees it as his responsibility to fix it without anyone getting hurt.
Also, if the kids just escape on their own, they will likely involve their parents/teachers, and there might be a real search for them by the scouts/Hunter/EC. And, again, it's bad publicity for the government, but in theory it's won't be a bad situation for the Empire's enemies... except that maybe Darius doesn't want to see the kids get hurt.
So, what was his original plan before Hunter intervened on the Blimp?
With the previous part in mind, while i think it is possible that Darius could have planned to let the kids escape once they were closer to Hexside (or more like, i don't think the writers thought very deep about it). I think it's more likely that he would have let them attempt to escape several times, stop the attempts (though he might've underestimated them, lol), then he would declare them unsuited for the Coven and drop them off at school. Then they know that they are free to go because the authority figure let them go, only Darius would likely need to explain himself in the Castle about his decision and why he went against the Golden Guard's judgement.
And I think his plan after the Blimp crashed was the same: if Hunter doesn't intervene Darius scares them, 'decides' they are unfit for the Covens and lets them go. (I know the fandom decided he was actually full on angry in that scene, but i had that scene screenshoted for drawing, and he was already smiling while 'fighting' Willow, and he could have easily incapacitated/restrained them with the abomination - he had a big abomination right behind them - if he wanted; but instead the abomination was just surrounding the kids' rather gently with its arms. Bonus: I like how Darius wasn't even restraining them on the Blimp at all, only the palismen).
Conclusion?
So according to this reading, Darius is taking full responsibilty for the children, even while he knows there might be questions about his judgement and why he overrode the Golden Guard's authority, even when it is easier to just do nothing and simply let Hunter fail or have Hunter and the scouts take the fall for the escape.
And, maybe he only cares about the other children, and Hunter isn't on his mind, but... somehow he isn't really spiteful or gleeful about the situation when he talks to Hunter from the Blimp (after he just collected the kids from the cell). Maybe he throws the cloak at Hunter in a mean way and looks somewhat strict, but mostly he looks sad and disappointed. [And that scene was absolutely intentional imo, and the first time i watched it that's what made it clear to me that Darius wasn't 100% on the Emperor's side, but again a topic for another time.] And if Darius was always acting the way fandom portraits him, he could have easily put down Hunter's judgement right there too, in public, just gleefully mock him and his recruitment attempt right there (or at least look smug that Hunter confirmed his previous judgement). Then tell the other children to get out of his face, not bother delivering them back by himself.
Idk, to me all this doesn't look like the behaviour of a character who is knowingly complicit in child abuse.🙄

Once I read a fan fiction where Belos was given a trial and all the inhabitants of the Boiling Isles forgave him. Even Lilith and Hunter. And I really liked the idea that Phillip once helped little Lilith, who had recently joined the Emperor coven, believe in herself. She was a girl who was fond of science and harassed by her peers because of her passion, misunderstood and unsociable. Then he explained to her that her love of research is not just normal, but right and useful, and this is not a reason for shame, but for pride. She blossomed in the Emperor coven and grew into a strong and determined woman.
I began to think about this topic and the author of the fan fiction liked my thoughts. And I decided to share them with you because why not?
I like to think that Belos often spoke words of support to Lilith, and she showed him her research. And that Lilith was familiar with Hunter's predecessor. After all, she's the same age as Darius who was taught by the previous Golden Guard.
And she once accidentally called Belos Uncle, following Hunter's predecessor. But she immediately corrected herself.
Phillip sees in the inquisitive girl a copy of his little self and overcomes his hatred for witches and Evelyn. But at some point he realizes that his mission is under threat and pulls himself together. At some point, he kills the Golden Guard for betrayal, or he dies on a mission. He and Lilith are moving away from each other, Lilith blames herself for this. She's been trying to win back his favor for years, getting better and better.
She doesn't like Hunter because he takes Belos' attention away from her. She's trying, trying, trying... And then it turns out that Belos never planned to cure her sister's curse. Shock, disbelief, the rescue of her sister, the betrayal of the emperor, life in the Owl House, a new friend in the person of Hooty, the appearance of Gwendolyn whom Lilith had not seen for years, a meeting with Philip Wittebane, Luz's journey into the bowels of the mindscape of Belos - quite a lot of events fell on Lilith. But she was definitely a favorite of Belos even before she grew up and he recognized her as the girl who hit him in the nose centuries ago.
It’s a fact that Lilith didn't have a sigil. What if Belos removed it years ago when he befriended the little red witch? He spared her in advance, realizing that he was condemning her to a life on empty islands, unless of course she decided to commit suicide from this. He did not take the palisman from Lilith because he didn't want to take away her friend.
Belos was happy when Lilith chose to save her sister, instead of betraying her and staying by his side. Of course, he knew that she would go back in time after one day he realized that he had seen her before and read about time pools. And after he saw the image of Luz, he immediately recognized Luzura. But he was glad that Lilith decided to save her older sister and was able to do it, unlike Phillip.
Oh, and one more thing. According to Lilith, she hasn't seen her mom for years. And she always had problems with lack of attention. Thus, Belos could be a parent figure for her. Well, more precisely, an uncle figure
What do you think?
Oh Lord.
This is probably going to be a long one.
Yeah, the whole concept sounds all cute and adorable - old man and little niece that he looks out for, and helps mold into a better version of herself...
Right up until you remember that she was a child soldier of a cult, who happened to live long enough to eventually find herself governing other child soldiers, being the poster face of said cult. Yeah, doesn't sound so nice anymore, does it.
And...Blossoming? In what was, and I cannot stress it enough, a militaristic cult? Also, have you actually seen just how miserable she looked while she was in the Emperor's Coven and shortly after leaving it - in comparison to how happier she looked like after being away from it for a longer while?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She probably wasn't even allowed to keep her natural hair color and shape.
If anything, she was constantly trimmed down for the sake of conveniently fitting into Belos' metaphorical palm, only being allowed to fully blossom once she left for good and came back to her loved ones.
"But she said she hadn't seen her mom for years, so surely her family wasn't that--"
I'm just going to let Hunter do the talking for me, though I apologize for the poor audio quality.
First things cults do, is isolate you from your family and friends, so that you both no longer have a support system, and so that you can no longer see what a truly normal life looks like to further prevent you from leaving.
And the seeming lack of a sigil on her?
Animation short-cut. We see plenty of other adult characters, most likely already in a coven, and some even being the Covenheads themselves - without sigils depicted on them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Raine in the epilogue, who despite the implications that they and others witnessed the first ever successful sigil removal, doesn't have their sigil either. Nor does Alador, even though he seemed just as surprised by the sigil removal working.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, most likely the same applies to Lilith - for the sake of faster production or simply because of forgetting, Lilith doesn't have the sigil actively depicted - but she most likely has it regardless.
"But, her keeping her Palisman--"
Yes, because unlike other Covenheads, she needs it for going around. Terra got her plant animal things. Adrian uses the flying balloon ships. Darius simply disintegrates himself into Abomination Goo. Eberwolf got plenty of animals to use as transportation method. Raine kept their palisman by hiding it in their violin, so they don't really count.
But Lilith only really had Mike Socks to go around on.
And when you want an efficient worker, taking away their main method of transport is one of the dumbest things you can do, objectively speaking.
"But the execution--"
You said it yourself. He still needed that loop to happen and it was also a way for him to appear merciful before his followers for sparing two witches. Two birds with one stone. He wasn't actually happy about losing the face of his propaganda and a useful asset.
I'm so sorry for shooting your idea down anon, but Lilith and Belos were never on good terms, nor did they have a familial bond. He was holding the carrot on a stick, and she was the one chasing it, truly believing that it wouldn't be snatched away from her at the last minute.
I get having headcanons, I truly do, but this ain't it chief.

Why Claiming Hunter is Beyond Redemption Because of What He Did in Any Sport in a Storm (and other episodes) Doesn’t Make Sense
Before I start this essay, I just want to make it clear that I have nothing against people who dislike Hunter or Any Sport in a Storm. Both of them mean a lot to me, but I understand that everyone has preferences and there is nothing wrong with that. However, I wanted to write this essay because I’ve seen a couple people state that Any Sport in a Storm makes Hunter a terrible person, disregarding information in and outside the episode. Again, you don’t have to like Hunter, but stating that he’s a terrible person is objectively incorrect.
What people need to realize is that Hunter, for his whole life, was desperate to prove himself to Belos, his fellow Emperor’s Coven comrades, and even himself, that he was worthy of being a valuable member to the Coven he was in. He was also used to obeying orders all his life, and the whole “recruitment” thing was an “order” given by Darius. We know Darius didn’t mean it that way, but Hunter interpreted it as such, because his environment is so awful that he doesn’t understand social interaction well. We see that this in this episode, Thanks to Them, AND the deleted scene from Clouds on the Horizon. People act like Hunter went out of his way to do this like Eclipse Lake. He didn’t. He only did it because he interpreted it as an order from Darius.
Willow blaming herself is framed as the wrong approach. It makes sense if you know her character. Willow always blames herself when she feels that she failed. And Hunter didn’t mean to make her feel this way at all. It helps Hunter realize what he did was wrong. She was also never about proving herself to Hunter, only the professor. She helped Hunter show the team because she knows from her conversation with Hunter that he needed help.
It wasn’t about proving herself to Hunter. It was about giving Hunter a new perspective and helping him. Hunter clearly cared about the team. He thinks the Emperor’s Coven is good. He thought the team would thank him for it later. The way he speaks is off putting but it’s because Hunter is bad at social interaction. He doesn’t understand how friendships work and he has good intentions for them, even if he was also looking out for himself. The exchanges with Gus and Skara prove this. And he thought that task would help him get his sigil. But even then the episode clearly shows that Hunter values doing the right thing, and once he realized what he did was wrong, he fixed it immediately. Again, he was ordered to do what he did. Disobeying an order like that is huge in Hunter’s position. And Hunter was willing to take a potentially lethal strike from Darius as well as accidentally show his Palisman in order to protect the team. He was being incredibly selfless and he admits he was at fault this way. Sure he doesn’t directly say “I’m sorry” but sometimes actions speak louder than words.
As for Willow forgiving Hunter? First of all, she doesn’t completely forgive him. You can see she’s upset with him at the end of ASIAS, but she wants to give him another chance. She hopes to see him again (“52 weeks before Caleb’s next day off”) when Hunter is out of the Coven. We see that Willow is still skeptical of him in Labryinth Runners, along with the rest of the team. They care about him because they know he cares about them, but no one tries to vouch for Hunter until he brings up the breathing thing, which was the proof Willow needed. After Hunter helps Gus, THAT’S when the school trusts him to talk about the Day of Unity.
Second of all, Willow’s softer response makes perfect sense if you know the episode and her character. Willow understands that Hunter was in a messed up situation due to their exchanges, and she tries to help him because that’s her main goal in life. She wants to “be strong to protect the ones she loves.” She relates to Hunter because he wants to prove himself, just like she did.
There are two other things that people seem to forget as well:
1. Hootys Moving Hassle. In that episode, Willow peer pressured Luz to do a conjuring at Hootys House so she can prove herself to Amity. Willow was in the wrong and she realizes by the climax of the episode, just like Hunter in ASIAS. She would understand why he did what he did.
2. Amity did something wrong to Willow and it took YEARS for Amity to make amends, all the while Willow was bullied. Hunter found out what he did wrong and fixed it very quickly. He took responsibility faster and Willow would appreciate that because of her experience with Amity.
And this all from just Any Sport in a Storm. We’ve seen sympathetic moments from Hunter in Hunting Palismen and Eclipse Lake as well. Even if Hunter didn’t end with being the complete good guy in those episodes. In Hunting Palismen, we see him bond with Luz and despite him about to betray Luz, he instead decides to back down and let Luz take the Palismen, even though he needed them to please Belos. We see this further when the first thing he tells Flapjack is “you shouldn’t be here, it’d be bad if Belos saw you.” Again, he clearly values doing the right thing.
Eclipse Lake is definitely Hunter at his worst and least sympathetic, but what it shows is that Hunter is in a dire situation where if he doesn’t prove Belos, he’s as good as gone. That’s why he betrays Amity to get the key and threatens Luz for it. The threats Hunter makes are not out of malice. If they were, he would have started with them in almost every situation he was in. He only uses threats when he has no other option. So trying to claim Hunter is a bad person for said threats doesn’t work.
I feel like people also need to realize that Hunter was more than willing to put himself in danger in order to keep people safe in both Labryinth Runners and Thanks to Them. Hunter literally exposed himself to a group that would have taken him back to Belos AND sacrificed himself in an attempt to take Belos down. You could also throw Clouds on the Horizon and Kings Tide in there as well with how much he protects Willow and Gus in the background.
Has Hunter done bad things? Absolutely. I’m not justifying those actions. But frankly he clearly has earnest intentions AND has done so much good to help his friends that holding his character back for said bad actions just doesn’t make sense anymore. I feel like a lot of people are just blowing them out of proportion or neglecting to see his character progression.

Why I'm not watching the owl house series finale:
The Owl House, as a series, is just kind of disappointing. Like the writing is just bad. And it's frustrating, because it has so much potential, and then just does almost absolutely nothing with it. I watched the first season and thought it was ok, with the beginning of season 2 especially drawing me in. It kept hinting at bigger world building reveals and plot points and then... Never did anything with them. Things that could have been interesting are brought up but then never elaborated on. And I kept watching, hoping for them to expand on it. But it just never happened. I realized with one episode left, I wouldn't get what I wanted. And it wasn't just because the show got cancelled; the writing was just... Bad.
Some smaller examples include Darius and his relationship to the past Golden Guard, which could have helped explain his motives and build on his character and relationships with other characters. He was one of my faves too lol so maybe I'm salty about that, but the pieces were there, they just never did anything with them.
And the frustrating thing is this wasn't just with one of their million characters they had and never actually expanded on, this shit happened with major plot points and world building aspects, like idk, your main villain?? And like, the literal giant organism everyone lives on???
Speaking of which... The Titan :))). The TITAN. THE THING THE WORLD IS LITERALLY BUILT UP ON. KING'S DAD. Is never properly expanded on. I've seen people talk about the finale and I think they elaborate more in it? But to wait until the finale it just feels like there could have been so much more done. What about all the murals on the walls, the mysterious circumstances, the fact that everyone is literally living on what appears to be a giant corpse? That's fucking cool as hell. And they hint that there is more. But they never really do anything with it. It's just touched on shallowly and we never get any real answers. Its disappointing.
Second example oh boy here we go.... The main villain of the show, the bastard himself, Belos. The fact that his backstory with Caleb was explained through blurry portraits that most people wouldn't even notice (Hollow Mind) is just like, what? And a few words from Masha. But that's it. The most enjoyable part of the second special for me was when Belos was having fucked up hallucinations and literally digging up more corpses and destroying another grimwalker and shit, because he's fucked up and complicated and has potential to be an awesome villain. And showing that is like fuck yeah! This is interesting! But they don't expand on it enough, they always seem to cut away before they really actually explain anything. If half your story has to be told through tweets and podcasts to make any sense, then... You simply aren't writing your story well. I need actual content. That's why I love the fan content for this show so much, because they expand on all the things the show never actually does.
There are so many characters, so many plot threads they just do nothing with, and it's frustrating. I know it's just a kids show and I'm probably putting too much energy into this and need to touch some grass or whatever. This isn't even all that articulate and I could go on about how willow and gus get sidelined, etc. But it's been said before. It's just frustrating seeing people say there is nothing wrong with the show at all/blaming it all on getting cancelled when really it could've been so good. But they just... Dropped the ball.

Fullmetal Alchemist Chapter 86
Yeah, Alphonse is possessed.
Tumblr media
The reason behind blowing up the train is muddied a bit. Graman is keeping the East and North troops behind to determine if Bradley was killed. Miles thinks Graman is plotting to use Roy and Olivier as scapegoats to seize power for himself.
Honestly, either Graman was or was not behind this. If he was, then Miles is totally right about Graman's plan. Graman set up the President's assassination as an excuse to renege on his part of the operation just long enough so he can come as a peace-keeper rather than as a conqueror.
But if Graman wasn't behind this, I would blame Roy instead. His team is operating because Wrath and Pride, the two strongest Homunculi they are aware of are gone. And the men who set up the explosion are all from Roy's Ishbal team. If this is true, then Roy would have been the one who tipped Bradley off about Graman to lure him into the trap.
It's ultimately speculation though. I don't think it's a spoiler to say we never find out who set up the bomb.
Jelso and Zanpano's first fight with a Homunculus was Envy. Not to be outdone, Darius and Heinkel's first fight was with Pride.
Some details about how Pride's shadow works:
The shadow is able to move off a surface
The shadow can apply force (it held Greed in place)
The shadow cannot cut diamond-hard surfaces
Tumblr media
So while we don't know what it's made of, Pride's "shadow" is a physical substance that might theoretically be manipulable. It also has certain qualitative physical properties. At the minimum, I can argue it's power is less than 10 on the Mohs scale.
But Pride's power in general is weird. He needs some light source to use his powers and his shadow seems to need darkness to extend itself out. When he first appeared to Hawkeye, he stayed in the shadow of that crevice and let his shadow extend out from it. And here, he needed to hide in the shadows and keep Al's shadow in the darkness to control him.
I guess if I was to make sense of the senseless, Pride's shadow is able to freely travel through darkness up to a certain limitation. But it requires light to be more active. It's some substance that activates under light energy, but is probably vulnerable to damage from light sources if spread too thin.
So his shadow uses the darkness to safely travel far distances and then acts in response to light sources.
Or maybe not. I'm kinda talking out my ass.
Hohenheim totally knows what's up and he put that fire out himself.
Tumblr media
Pride's body appears to not bleed. Greed referred to it as a vessel so "Selim Bradley" is similar to Father's body. It is just a human-like shell housing something else.
Gluttony can't go one chapter without being silly.
Tumblr media
And this is the first time Lin and Greed have willingly cooperated on controlling Lin's body. Last chapter, Lin was able to detect Pride even when Greed was in control, but he had to wrest control to warn Ed. So Lin and Greed have separate senses of awareness.
Gluttony has been previous defeated to the point he was taken completely out of commission. But no one was able to handle his super mode. So that was still a looming threat.
So how do you deal with an opponent who has a wide-range instant kill move? You block them from using it.
Tumblr media
It's the final arc so everyone is returning.

Thinking of any sport in a storm again and how funny darius side of it is.
Like, he literally is his own bane of his day off.
He told hunter to find new recrutes or whatever. He really should have known that hunter
A) would do exactly that and
B) take some drastic mesures to achieve it
And then a bunch of kids straight up crash his ship, which can't have been fun either.
Darius could have made things so much easier on himself if he ignored hunters pleading but told the emerald entrails "this is ridiculous, i'll just drop you off back at school"
(Obviously it all worked out for the best but darius has no one but himself to blame for his troubles that day lol he was basically asking for it)

Day 4: Reunion
@sergeantsporks
Small footsteps stamped through the halls nearby. Darius let out a sigh of annoyance. The Titan below really wasn’t content to let him wallow alone. No, the knife had to be dug in further.
“Hey, Darius!” Hunter said, his voice akin to a factory whistle. “The hems in my cloak came out.” He smiled as he showed Darius the broken threads hanging from the bottom. As if the clean cut through them wasn’t obvious.
“Well,” he said neutrally as he walked away. “You know where the royal tailor is.”
Hunter followed, falling into step with him. Darius knew shaking him off wouldn’t have been that easy.
“I was thinking you could do it.” Hunter said as he fidgeted with his gloves, his cloak having been dropped and trailing behind him. “You know, like last time.”
Ah, yes, last time. It was probably in poor taste to mention last time had ended with Belos branding him and giving him a nasty slash across his cheek. Darius stole a glance at where it was now scarring and would probably remain there for the rest of the boy’s life.
“Maybe you don’t know where the royal tailor is.” Darius said curtly, eyes straight ahead. “You seem to think that’s what I am, at least.”
Hunter flinched at the acidic comment. Darius kept on walking, pretending he didn’t notice. What he said might not have been called for, but did it really matter in regards to his end goal? If he wanted to keep the child safe and away from him, he may as well let the boy start hating him.
“But…” Hunter said, trailing off as he came to a halt.
Darius turned and saw Belos with his hand over Hunter’s shoulder.
“Hunter,” he said, his gaze never breaking from Darius. “You know better than to pester the Coven Heads.”
“Yes, Uncle.” Hunter said, his voice thick as he furiously blinked away any tears that may have formed.
Belos finally turned and steered Hunter in the other direction. “Come, child, there’s still much to be done today.”
Darius forced himself to stare at the wall as Hunter looked back before turning the corner. The wall and him had a debate and eventually agreed. He had to be cruel to be kind. Logically, there was no other way. Belos didn’t want Hunter hanging around him, that much was clear. And that kid infuriatingly didn’t seem to realize his uncle was a monster. If he didn’t want Hunter to end up like his predecessor, he had to keep him at arm’s length. Darius ignored the nagging feeling that he didn’t need to be vindictive to achieve this, because he wasn’t, not really. It was just one mean comment the kid had probably already forgotten about.
*
Darius toed a piece of gravel as he stoked the embers of the campfire. This is what he wanted, wasn’t it?
He sent Hunter away from him, away from the Head and to Bonesborough, in case things went sideways. It seemed so perfectly logical at the time. Keeping the kids away from the Head meant keeping them safe.
Brilliant idea that turned out to be. He nearly choked out Alador when found out he had been taking them directly to the Head. Alador was only still alive because Raine curtly reminding Darius that he and the kids were only going after Eda's own kid. While Darius shut his mouth, he still silently seethed. He never could accept that sometimes bad things just happened, he always had to find someone to blame.
Always wanted someone to blame. Hunter probably would've been able to attest to that. Darius had long since given up trying to convince himself he was being cruel to be kind all those years. Cracks in that theory became all to clear that night they tried to enter Belos' mind, and after the Day of Unity it all came tumbling down like the debris that may very well have buried their children.
Some of the parents still believed the kids had made it out somehow. Eda pointed out her portal door was there. But Darius was ever the pessimist. If he believed Hunter was dead and it was all his fault, it wouldn't hurt as much if it turned out to be true.
Even so, it's not as if he didn't yearn. On this, like almost every other night, he looked to the stars and silently prayed.
*
Darius was out of breath by the time he ran back to the base. Even so, he still looked around frantically, nearly shoving Alador as he hugged his daughter.
They were back. He almost couldn't let himself believe it, but here they were.
As he scanned the room, he saw him. Hunter, hanging by the corner and passively looking on, with some much shorter hair and outfit that reminded Darius he needed to teach the boy how to dress himself.
He saw Darius and waved awkwardly.
Darius wrapped his arms around him, hoping he would never have to let go again.

Before we start there are gonna be huge spoilers for S3 of The Owl House
Picture of the day:

A fanfic made by me😘
Title: For the future
Details: This fanfic is about Hunter finding puppet Darius while walking through the collector's castle and after they fight with collector and Belos the puppets are free including Darius. Before you say ANYTHING the collector is out with king and Eda and Lilith can't hear him outside while he sees puppet Darius. I understand it makes no sense so please lets not speak of it.
Quietly, the Hexsquad and Camila wakes through the sky castle. They wanted to explore and check everywhere to make sure they don't miss anything. Luz decided that it'd be good to split up in groups of two. Luz was with Hunter, Camila was with Gus, and Amity was with Willow. Hunter walked past something he didn't notice "Wait Hunter! Look theres this huge hall with.." "pictures of collectors?.." They both looked at each other before Hunter started walking down the long hall. "I'm going to go see whats over there. You say here and run down the hall if you see something" Luz held stringbean and nodded then turned to look at the paintings.
As Hunter reached the end of the hall he saw figures. [What is that?] He thought to himself. He went towards them and saw familiar faces. It was the coven heads..and they were puppets. They were all drenched in glitter and color. Hunter looked at a large purple man and was a little shocked. "Darius?.." The puppet blinked as slightly moved its hand. Why could it do that? "What did they do to you.." Hunter just wanted to cry. Some happy tears and some he had be holding in for a very very long time. He was happy to know that Darius is still in one piece. "I'm so. so. sorry I didn't do anything to help you. any of you."
Hunter blamed himself. He blamed himself for helping Belos with the day of unity. For hurting so many people. Hunter helped Belos hurt so many, He himself hurt and hunt so many witches. "I'm so sorry..I hurt innocent witches just because I was stupid enough to believe I was special and that a Titan cared. That Belos cared." (The special part reminds me of Luz lolzies) He fell to his knees and just looked at the coven heads. The puppet coven heads. He lost himself in his bad thoughts and just blocked off any noise or anything he could see or hear. This was his way of getting to world to just stop spinning. It was his way to try not to give into the bad thoughts and just block them out.
Luz ran into the room of coven heads and stood there in shock "oh my god..." She looked at Hunter who was sitting on the floor covering his ears and curled up trying to shut everything out. (Btw he was getting overwhelmed with guilt and bad thoughts) "Hunter?" She slowly walked up to him and put her arm on his shoulder. His eyes widened as he jumped and quickly moved away "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!" Hunter sighed and stood "its fine. Did you hear something?" "Yes and so did Willow and Amity we think the collector is back" "We have to go then. Quickly." Luz nodded and began running out of the hall.
Hunter took a look back and took a deep breath. He turned and ran out. The puppet's eyes had a little bit of a shine.

Okay, so weird question... But I know Phoenix is your baby and that you love talking about him, so here we go!
What would Phoenix have done differently from Hunter during the events of "Hunting Palismen" if he had been in Hunter's place?
Like, he's still the Golden Guard in this hypothetical scenario. So would he have... Recaptured the palismen? Exposed Kikimora for trying to assassinate him? Turned Luz over to Belos?
I guess it would all depend where he's at in his golden guard journey? Like, if we just shifted everything a bit, and Darius is now close to Luz's age, and Phoenix is in the middle of mentoring him, things are going to go differently. He'd be like "oohhhhhhhhhhhh that's a. that's a Darius age person. Hm." I think he'd still take the palisman, but he'd let Luz go because she's just a kid.
But if we took Phoenix from where he was at age sixteen and plopped him down into Hunter's shoes, I think he would have knocked out Kikimora and then gone after Luz, yeah. He wouldn't have let her go, or he would have kept going after her and the palisman until he was too injured/it was too risky to do so. If it was a choice between getting the palisman or capturing Luz, he'd choose the palisman because they were his mission, but if he could feasibly get both, he would.
He already knows that he doesn't have room for mistakes--Belos wouldn't have "missed" in the throne room if it was Phoenix instead of Hunter. At sixteen, he's only just officially become the golden guard (although he's been in training for a few years), so he doesn't have the established credibility to fumble a mission like this. He'd also currently be in his "not overly cruel, but efficient at what he does" time period where he's blank in the personality/morality department and just carries out orders, so there's no way Luz would be able to change his mind and appeal to his better side. He also didn't share the interest in wild magic that Hunter did, so there wouldn't be any bonding factors there. I'm not sure if he'd even MAKE the truce with Luz or if he'd just attack and knock her out then attempt to steal the palisman back from Kikimora by himself.
If he successfully got the palisman and Luz, he probably would expose Kikimora and get her demoted at the least and imprisoned/executed at the most, but if he failed, then no. It would seem like he was making excuses and finding someone else to blame with little proof other than his word against hers.

And I decided to share them with you, because now I'm sending them to almost every Belos Fan I know. And I'm ashamed that I didn't share them with you, despite the fact that I found out about you earlier than about others.
That's an interesting take in things : o
I for sure think though Belos was too obsessed to view things in any sort of different picture regarding witches though. The man was too obsessed and stubborn at the boiling isles to think in any other way at any moment v.v. the only reason in my story he started to have doubts was because he had almost got killed by the collector, so he was "recovering", Gus unlocked countless of memories he had tried to forget, and was getting overwhelmed with so much that was going on : o. If he didn't go through all what i listed, he would still be the stubborn racist jerk that took control of the boiling isles x.x, hahaha
