Potential spoilers below the cut, but a super interesting article.
Some non-spoiler pull quotes:
Tom is my producing partner in a true sense. Before we had any writers or directors, it was Tom and I for months building this story out. We had a 30-page document that was like, This is what the show is: TVA, He Who Remains — even Victor Timely was in that first document years ago. And it’s just carried through. -- This is maybe — not maybe — this is the first Marvel series to never have any additional photography. The story that is on screen is the story we set out to make. -- We were casting, and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was playing in L.A. and in New York, but it hadn’t gone nationwide yet. I think it was going the very next week. We had gotten a call from our casting director who said, “Hey, I’m about to put together a list for OB — just initial thoughts. But before I do that, I really think you guys should meet Ke, and I think it should be Ke. I think you guys should meet with him quick, because probably by Monday, he’s going to have a lot of offers for different things.”
Of the eight live-action TV shows that Marvel Studios has produced for Disney+ to date, only one has concluded with the explicit promise of a second season: That would be “Loki,” the outrageously entertaining series about Tom Hiddleston’s god of mischief and his metaphysical exploits in the Time Variance Authority.
It turns out, those plans were already in the works before a second of “Loki” had ever streamed. As executive producer Kevin Wright explains to Variety, he and Hiddleston began talking about Season 2 of the show while in production on the third episode of Season 1.
“As we were shooting the ‘Lamentis’ episode, Tom and I started having lots of conversations about how this world could build out, how we dive deeper into it,” he says. “A large part of what we wanted to do was not trying to repeat ourselves, and not try to play the hits.” At the same time, he adds, they also wanted to make sure didn’t start Season 2 by “fast-forwarding through the drama” of the Season 1 finale.
And so much happened in that finale. To recap: Loki and his variant-turned-potential-soulmate Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) arrive at the end of time, where they meet the creator of the TVA, He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) — the variant of the supervillain Kang who won a massive multiversal war. To prevent future Kangs from emerging, He Who Remains has used the TVA to maintain a single, sacred timeline — pruning away trillions of potential lives in the process. He gives Sylvie and Loki an impossible choice: Replace him as the head of the TVA, or kill him and bring forth an infinite number of Kangs.
Loki wants the first option; Sylvie wants the second. She wins, kills He Who Remains, and boots Loki back to an alternate version of the TVA, where previous compatriots Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) don’t remember ever meeting him.
Variety has screened the first four (of six) episodes of “Loki,” and without spoiling anything, Season 2 picks up pretty much exactly where the first season left off — before then charting its own storytelling path. The full cast has returned, including Gugu Mbatha-Raw as former TVA judge Ravonna Renslayer and Eugene Cordero as TVA functionary Casey. And Majors returns as well as He Who Remains, in addition to another Kang variant, a 19th century inventor named Victor Timely. They’re joined by new actors including Kate Dickie (“Game of Thrones”), Rafael Casal (“Blindspotting”) and recent Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan as TVA technician Ouroboros, aka “OB.”
Behind the scenes, there have been some changes from Season 1. The series’ original director Kate Herron and head writer Michael Waldron both stepped back to focus on other projects. In their places, “Moon Knight’s” Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have stepped in as lead directors, and Season 1 writer Eric Martin stepped up as head writer for Season 2.
Tumblr media
To delve into the second season of “Loki,” Wright talked with Variety about casting Quan just before his performance in the multiverse spectacular “Everything Everywhere All at Once” changed the actor’s life forever; what the future of “Loki” the show and Loki the character might be following Season 2; and how Majors’ arrest in March for assault did (or did not) affect their plans for Season 2.
What were the discussions like about how to approach Season 2?
I think we had to just keep reminding ourselves that the TVA is a great world, let’s live in the drama of what we’re creating there. Which means not fast-forwarding through the drama that they just decided to stop pruning timelines, but also staying in the emotional turmoil that Loki and Sylvie are coming into this season with.
Also, there were certain things in Season 1 that felt like they were maybe a risk, and we didn’t know how the audience would respond. Once we realized that they embraced it, it felt like a lot of freedom to go further.
What did you feel was a risk?
In a very early draft of the script that Michael Waldron had written, that first Time Theater conversation between Mobius and Loki was maybe a couple of pages. And then a lot of other big Marvel-y action things happened afterwards, and we all went, “That’s not the interesting stuff. This Time Theater conversation is interesting. That’s what the show could be.” If we are really diving into the character-driven philosophy and introspection of self, that’s quite different than the last 10 years of Marvel movies. Would the audience follow us along on that?
Tom Hiddleston famously held seminars on the character of Loki for Season 1. Did he do anything like that for Season 2?
No, because we tried to bring back as much crew as we could from Season 1. It was largely the same team. Obviously, we went from Atlanta to London [for production], but a lot of our department heads carried over, so there was an institutional knowledge that was built in. And Tom is my producing partner in a true sense. Before we had any writers or directors, it was Tom and I for months building this story out. We had a 30-page document that was like, This is what the show is: TVA, He Who Remains — even Victor Timely was in that first document years ago. And it’s just carried through.
So even as Kate Herron kind of handed the reins over at the end of Season 1, there is an institutional knowledge that comes with us being the glue between the seasons.
You mentioned He Who Remains and Victor Timely. You finished shooting Season 2 in 2022, but did Jonathan Majors’ arrest for assault in March resulted in any changes to the show?
No. This is maybe — not maybe — this is the first Marvel series to never have any additional photography. The story that is on screen is the story we set out to make. We went out there with a very specific idea of what we wanted this to be, and we found a way to tell it in that production period. It’s very much what’s on screen on Disney+.
It’s clear that Majors plays an integral role this season, and you just alluded that Marvel usually does additional photography on all its titles. So was there any discussion about making changes to the show, given the uncertainty about what was happening with Majors?
No. And that mainly came from — I know as much as you do at the moment. It felt hasty to do anything without knowing how all of this plays out.
How early into the writing of Season 2 did you decide to cast Ke Huy Quan as OB?
We were in London, so I had at least some version of our scripts. The way the process works, they’re always being rewritten, but OB was in there, and his introduction scene was almost exactly as originally written. I would like to say it was in early spring, which was maybe just two months before we started shooting. We were casting, and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was playing in L.A. and in New York, but it hadn’t gone nationwide yet.
So that that Friday, myself, Justin and Aaron, two of our directors, had gotten on a Zoom with Ke. We pitched him the show and this character. We shared that introduction scene with him and maybe the full script. And then we called in the big guns that Monday; Kevin Feige got on the phone with him and said, “Ke, I know you read the script. I know you talked to the guys. We really think you should do this. I really want you to join the Marvel family.” And he had already made up his mind over the weekend. It was like, “I’m there. I’ve been a huge fan of this for a long time.”
Tumblr media
In Season 1, the show explored several time periods and locations outside the TVA, but in the first four episodes of this season, you stick to just 1880s Chicago, 1970s London and 1980s in the Midwest. How did you come to that decision to focus more on the TVA and building out its history?
Because that felt like where so much of our core character conflict was going to come from. There was so much intersectionality of our characters and what they think of the TVA. Sylvie wants to burn it down because the apple is rotten, as she says. Loki sees it as potentially the only form of defense against whatever else is coming in a war with Kang. Mobius and B-15, they’ve dedicated their whole life to it. They’re not quite ready to give it up. Renslayer feels like she’s been keeping it together, and you get a real understanding of why she thinks she should be the one to get this thing back on track.
We want everybody to be in the gray area — they’re neither good nor bad. They might make bad choices or heroic choices, but they are trying to figure out who they are. The TVA felt like the place where we could maximize that storytelling and learn more about those characters through that. But also stay tuned, because we are going to more places [in Episodes 5 and 6].
Do you think the TVA could start to appear in other titles in the MCU?
I would love that. Look, I’ve been siloed in on “Loki” for almost five years now, by the time this show finishes, and with every filmmaker who has put their hands on the show, we’ve all had the same conversations: It feels like the TVA could really be this exciting connective tool for all of this storytelling. And we’ve only seen a fraction of it. We’re dealing very specifically with this one smaller department with Mobius and B-15 and Renslayer, but you look out at those vistas — this place is infinite. The exciting thing to us is there certainly are more stories to be told there. We’ve carved out our own little corner of the sandbox and built something cool. We’re hoping that other people want to come and play with it.
One of the things I’ve most enjoyed about “Loki” is how it’s telling its own story, but have you considered bringing more of the MCU into it?
Yes, in both seasons of writers’ rooms. It always felt wrong to go too far outside of the box of things that would directly contribute to Loki’s character arc in these two seasons. So that’s why we get [Jaimie Alexander as] Sif in there [in Season 1], we play with the variants in the void and various levels of Asgard-specific storytelling. But while we’ve had nearly 12 hours of storytelling, it never feels like we have enough time. Eventually, just handling the stories of our ensemble and not shortchanging them has always been priority number one.
Now, Season 1 and 2 were always built to be two chapters of the same book. The hope would be going forward, there are more books that we can tell these stories with. I certainly think that we could start doing that.
Would there be a Season 3 of “Loki”? Is the future of the show finite or more open-ended?
I think it’s open-ended. We certainly did not develop this season going, “We have to tee up Season 3” — in the way that we did with Season 1, where there was a very specific, “Hey, we’re coming back.” But I also think that where this show goes, there certainly can be many, many, many more stories told with Loki in the “Loki” world, and in other worlds connected to Loki, the character.
Do you think Loki would ever rejoin the larger world of the MCU?
That’s the hope. I don’t want to — yeah. I think the the sun shining on Loki and Thor once again has always been the priority of the story we’re telling. But for that meeting to really be fulfilling, we have to get Loki to a certain place emotionally. I think that’s been the goal of these two seasons.

Loki Season 2 Episode 5 “Science/Fiction” Thoughts and Theories
            If you have not seen this episode of Loki, then please look away right now. I really like this episode and you should get a chance to watch it.
            I really liked this episode of Loki, or as I call it “Tom Hiddleston’s audition to be the The Doctor from Doctor Who”. The way he recruits Mobius in this episode literally reminded me of how the Ninth Doctor recruited Rose Tyler in first series. It is so nice to see what everybody’s life was like outside of the TVA. I like how different everyone was. Although, I would say OB being a science fiction writer who is also a physicist isn’t really that different from who he was in the TVA. It was really sad when he came out of the time portal to reveal to everyone that it’s been 19 months and his wife had left him and he lost his job. Loki literally just ruined this man’s life. It’s nice to see Hunter B-15 as a pediatrician; it’s not that different from her caring self in the TVA but when we first saw her in the show, this was not what I would imagine her real life was. Casey shocked me the most since he was a criminal in his timeline; the Casey we know in the TVA is completely opposite to his real-life counterpart. I love that Mobius was a salesman who sells jet skis. That would explain why he has this obsession with them. Although, that begs the question of: do the TVA members know some bits of their lives? Because Mobius has this obsession with Jet skis, the same way he kind of does with his real-life counterpart.
            I loved Loki and Sylvie’s conversation in the bar. I think it gets to the point of who Loki is and what he’s been wanting since we met him in Thor. He just wants to be with his friends. Loki, as a character, has always wanted to find a place where he belonged and a place where people would accept him. In the first Thor, we see Loki betray Asgard because he finds out he’s a frost giant. He feels othered by this revelation and he feels betrayed by the people he thought was his people. We even see that in the end of Thor: Ragnarok, where he helps the Asgardians escape Asgard. Sure, he’s doing it to help them but some part of him also just wants to be the hero that gets all this adoration and glory. We also see it in last season’s episode 5 “Journey Into Mystery”, when Loki is talking to the older Loki, who survives the attack of Thanos during Infinity War, the older Loki talks about how he was captured by the TVA because he wanted to come find his brother to see if Thor missed him or if anybody else did. Loki is this kind of sad character that inside this conqueror, malice, and superiority exterior, just wants to find a place to belong. He found that in the TVA. He found a place where he knew for a fact that he’s just this small being in this vast multiverse and there are things he can’t conquer, so he’s finally able to go back to what he truly wants, which is a place to belong and some friends to go along with it.
THEORY:
            You know when this season first started, I didn’t even think they would go to the Loki is the God of Stories route but after this episode, it seems more likely that that is what they’re going to do with him. If I remember correctly, just a few years ago, Loki was reborn as the God of Stories, which made him a being of immense power. Not only does he know that he’s in a comic (I’m pretty sure it was in that God of Stories run that he found out) but he can also warp/ change what ever reality he is on; he can make every story he tells into reality. Now, I don’t know how much of that the MCU is going to adapt or to put on Loki but if he does become the God of Stories then he literally can change the marvel landscape immediately. You know how there are rumors that Marvel has plans to change Jonathan Majors as Kang and to maybe bring the old Avengers back? Well, this is one way they can do it if they want.
            I’m not saying that Loki will definitely be the God of Stories by the end of this season. Although, him having to figure out whether time slipping’s rules are a matter of Science or Fiction, then ultimately figuring out that it’s a matter of fiction kind of points directly to this God of Stories route. Although, I think his powers would be nerfed a bit where he can only change reality by time slipping to the past and changing the reality through that point. That’s why in the first episode of this season, OB can remember his interaction with Loki perfectly because his new time slipping powers made it so that OB wouldn’t forget.
            What did you guys think of this episode? Was there something that I forgot or maybe got wrong? I’d love to know. I haven’t read that God of Stories Loki in a while, so I might be getting something wrong with that, so feel free to add more if you want. If I remember correctly as well, Loki ends up telling Deadpool that he’s in a comic at some point, but I’m not sure when that happened. Anyways, have a good day/night and thanks for reading.

2023 In Review : Authors' Edition
What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again? I wrote my first drabble. Plan to do more as part of my compliments to fanart that I like and reblog.
How many fics did you work on this year? (They don’t have to be finished or published!) 28
What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer? I overuse semicolons and dashes and the first step is admitting you have a problem.
What piece of media inspired you the most? Handmaid's Tale, Snowpiercer (And of course MCU just b/c of Stucky)
What fandom(s) did you write for this year? Marvel/MCU, Actor RPF, Supernatural, Fresh, Snowpiercer, Knives Out
What ship(s) captured your heart? Stucky already had my heart. I really got into other C.Evans and S.Stan characters paired with OFC's, this year though.
What character(s) captured your heart? I liked exploring Curtis Everett and Lloyd Hansen. But I still ride or die for Steve&Bucky.
Did you write for a new fandom or ship this year? Yes!! Lots of new M/F pairings, and 5 new C.Evans characters.
What fic meant the most to you to write? "The Carter Academy for Omega Excellence"--because this was my first commissioned fic and I'm super proud of that. Plus, I've formed a friendship with the person who asked for it!
What fic made you feel the happiest to work on? No clear winner for this one, just a ton of ties. Fluffiest fic was "Angels Are Avian Adjacent"
What fic was the most satisfying to finish writing? "The Merging: A Union" - just b/c I've left the SN fandom and was glad to have given the story an end.
What fic was the most difficult to write? Did you finish it? "Medically Necessitated" - because there is SO much I want to include in the plot of this one and it just is hard to keep it all straight in my head sometimes. Plus I'm rarely in the mood to write it because I hold the tone and quality of the writing so dear to my heart, that I don't want to just phone it in or half ass it. It is not finished (yet!).
What fic was the easiest to write? "Wet Dream" was written as a Bingo fill, and it felt like it came pretty easily.
What were your shortest and longest fics this year? "It Started with Helga the Lunch Lady" - 863 words "Medically Necessitated" - 91,000 words
Rec a fic you wrote or posted in 2023 "Medically Necessitated"
What were you go-to writing songs? "Wicked Game," "Enjoy the Silence," "I want to," "Like U," "Say It," "Falling," "Insomnia," "Should Be Higher," "Daddy Issues."
What were your go-to writing snacks? Kratom, caffeine pills
What was the hardest fic to title? Hydra Sanatorium - the title was actually something else that I decided I didn't like, so it got changed.
Share your favorite opening line A 3-way tie between: 1. "As a gigantic fucking Duh, hiking that last mile home with an ass full of cum is no fun." (BB & his 1001 Fetishes, ch 34), 2. "The Morning When Steve Finds Out What Bucky Wants to do to His Dick:" (Modifications & Improvement of Functions), and 3. "Sebastian’s in the middle of taking a dump when he hears his phone out in the kitchen. “Ah, crap.”" (I Prefer Girls Who're Not Afraid to Cry)
Share your favorite ending line A 3-way tie between 1. "What the hell kind of simp-ass Dom even calls themself something stupid like "Bucky," anyway?" (It Started with Helga the Lunch Lady) 2. "And then, nodding at the box of Midnight Black #106 that the other man is considering, furtively advises, “... don’t do it.”" (Merry & Bright, part 2) and 3. "Well, Bucky utilized his super soldier stealth skills. Steve tripped into the floor lamp." (Good Ol' Fashioned Values)
Share your favorite piece of dialogue I couldn't sort through ALL of the dialogue, lol, but it would definitely be the dirty talk in one of them. A recent one that comes to mind is the sexually tense and taunting back and forth Bucky has with his half-sister in "Make it Stick", or the banter between Ransom and his ex-GF in "Who'd You Have to Blow to Get That Part?"
Share an excerpt from your favorite scene AGAIN, too too many to sort through them all, but I love the scene in Good Ol' Fashioned Values where Steve and Bucky are making love, and Steve is emotional over wanting to be the omega mate he used to be for Bucky, and Bucky tenderly reassures him that he's still the perfect mate: [[“Buck, oh, p-please …”
“Uh huh. That’s right Honey. So soft. You work so hard to go soft for me, don’t you Sweetheart?”
Steve whimpered in a way he rarely did anymore, hands flying up to cover Bucky’s on his neck. “Yes, yes,” he gasped. His fingers curled into Bucky’s metal ones and held on almost desperately. “Please. I can be good. Buck,”
It broke Bucky’s heart a little bit, and he cooed sadly and shook his head. “Aw, Stevie, no.” He changed his pace, slowing down and fucking in deep and staying there to grind them together. “You’re always good, Honey. Always. Even when you can’t.” Steve’s eyes got misty at that, and plaintive, sad sounds started working their way out of his throat alongside the moans. Bucky hushed him. “Shh sh sh, Sweetheart.”]]
Share the final version of a sentence or paragraph you struggled with. What about it was challenging? Are you happy with how it turned out? The last paragraph of Modifications & Improvement of Functions, because the tone of the fic was so lighthearted and so twisted at different points, I wasn't quite sure which tone I wanted it to end on. [[Steve’s old junker of a heart gets another ding in it. He pulls Bucky in close to be the little spoon, and lies there kissing at the back of his neck for a long, long time. “You always work right, Buck. You’re always perfect. I love you.” He traces the edges of the star that’s carved into the nape of his neck, and eventually he whispers, “We’ll go to the piercing shop tomorrow.”]]
What's something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story? That a 16 year old character may NOT be written engaging in even non-explicit sexual relationships in a Tumblr fic. I had to reformat a few details to be safe (but I increased the age gap super much instead, so nah nah! 😝(Got my abusive Tumblr Staff Troll 🧌to thank for that one.)
What did you use to write? (e.g. writing programs, paper & pen, etc.) Google Docs. Sometimes I'll jot something small down straight onto a Tumblr post.
If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year? I'm just really satisfied with the themes and unique way the narrative handles the subject matter in Modifications and Improvement of Functions, I think. As well as how I navigated the half-sibling incest depicted in "Make it Stick"
Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic? When I achieved 5 in a rows on Bingos, I posted the masterlists. First time doing that!
How did you recharge between fics? Sleep, binge eating, elliptical machine/gym, Youtube videos.
If this were an awards show, who would you thank? My supporters who have commissioned fics, my most frequent commentors/rebloggers, and the people who supported me when the Tumblr Staff Troll 🧌 started abusing her position. (@smlmsworld, @autumnrose40, @pia-bartolini, @pandafishao3, @albymangroves, @rogersbarneses, @cobaltmoonysart, @justsupersarahthings (@and the others who I probably forgot!)
What’s something that you want to write in 2024? I have a fic I was writing for the @stuckyhistoricalfiction challenge that I never finished because of an injury/recuperation, but I truly love the fic concept and what I have written so far, so I'd like to finish that this year, even if it's just a shorter version than I'd planned. I also had two fics I was supposed to write and another fic I was supposed to draw for, for the @stuckybangs, which I didn't complete due to the injury. I'd love to collab with those partners and fulfill their visions! BUT MOST OF ALL: I want to finish up many, if not most (or all 😅) of my WIPs that I have going. I love them all so much and have no intention of letting any of them remain unfinished forever!

'Loki' Head Writer on Season 2 Finale and MCU Future (esquire.com)
I think this more than enough proof how unsalvable this entire series always was going to be. Because they made the TVA fascists, they were based off of 1984 and had straight up nazi coding. Remember all the art promotion? But then they honestly call Mobius someone who's like a company man, who sometimes breaks the rules, but really he just wants to live his life. Mobius was a fascist for hundreds of years and never spared a single person or even tried thinking of another way. I don't understand how some can be so unaware of what they've written.
Oof, that interview was painful to read.
The bit about Mobius just comes to prove these people don't understand the ramifications of the stuff they have written. We saw Mobius as that "company man" in S1 and I have no idea what they have done with him in S2, but if he didn't have his own beliefs challenged then this character is in the exact same spot as the first S1 episode.
Most of the time, these writers keep moving their characters from one place to another but when it comes to characterization, they always end up the same way they started. The character is taken from point A to B but... has said character really learnt anything about themselves? Or are they just going through the motions, reacting to stuff happening to them and taking on roles that don't ever develop their own personal story?
Mobius is never challenged, he was a company man who in his own words didn't get hung up on "believe, not believe", he just "accepted what is" - which basically means he took everything the TVA said to him as the absolute truth - so he NEEDS to have those beliefs challenged. He has to be written as someone who feels guilt, regret, remorse, who understands his role in the machine, and who is changed by the story. But the writers never did that because it wasn't in their plans to tell a story against the TVA - as Wright said, the TVA is their Shield. They're the good guys! 🤦‍♀️
Now, what Martin says about Loki: "The big idea was taking Loki from a lowercase-g god, to a capital-G God" is slightly insulting. Loki IS a God. But the rest is even worse: "[...] he gets his throne—but it's not a throne he wants anymore. This is a duty. He's doing this so everyone else can have their lives. He's giving up the thing that he wants most so that everyone else can have their free will."
So, that's basically the worst possible story you could tell about him? He "gives up" what he wants most? So this is yet another case where Loki doesn't get what he wants? He gets a throne, that he never wanted in the first place and we've known that since Thor1, and he has to sacrifice himself, his life, his future, his needs... so that everybody else can have their lives? It's a confirmation of this...
Tumblr media
I don't know what to tell you. As a Loki fan that is not what I wanted to see. I haven't watched S2 so I have no idea if he takes on that role willingly or not, but this is Loki sacrificing himself yet again while those who did A LOT more damage than he ever did get away with it scot-free. And probably even the TVA is saved and protected and not burnt to the ground, right? Ugh.
Oh, and there's one more thing that blows my mind in that interview. This part:
Q: On a macro level, where would you say Loki Season Two fits in within the overall Marvel story? Eric Martin: "I actually don't know what the overall story is going to be. Things are so siloed off."
Marvel should be telling the head writers of their series what the overall story is. The MCU is supposed to be a "connected" universe. It doesn't surprise me that the latest phases are all over the place when these people have no idea what the main story is.

Loki S2E3:
I like how the first half of the season is directed on saving the TVA, as opposed to last season's agenda of destroying it. The irony is way too funny.
Gotta say that Loki, Mobius, B-15, D-90 (?), Casey, and O.B. running the TVA is the best thing ever. They're all amazing together. I hope Sylvie decides to come back this episode and stick around. Looked like she was thinking about it.
Ooh, interesting spin on the MCU logo theme today.
RENSLAYER SIGHTING.
She is so out of place there omfg.
"That's it?" Pretty underwhelming, right?
Miss Minutes changes colors 👀
OG He Who Remains as a child is something I didn't know I needed.
Literally everything revolves around that book, doesn't it? Wait- doesn't this mean O.B. should get credit for helping create the TVA??
"That's gonna be an awkward reunion." I love Mobius.
"Well, maybe she got it out of her system." Lmao. Doubt it. Might not try to kill them, but she's definitely no friend right now.
The thing I love about Mobius & Loki going on missions in the timeline is that we get to see so much more of their dynamic. They're definitely one of my favorite duos ever.
"Thor isn't that tall." 😂
Renslayer talking to a ghost clock in a bag is way too funny.
"Don't let her see you." So, either this is going to go like the Andor finale or she is totally going to see them. Noted.
Whiplash at seeing adult Victor Timely as opposed to the little boy ten minutes ago. This dude literally dedicated his life to controlling time.
NO COMPUTER, I DON'T WANT TO UPDATE JAVA RIGHT NOW.
Okay, I know Jonathan Majors is being accused of domestic violence or something, but the guy is a great actor. Not that that excuses him of any crimes he might've committed.
ARE THEY GOING TO KIDNAP HIM?
Mobius, this is such a bad idea, my guy. His ambitions are already too powerful. He'll just take over again.
"I don't do partners." THE LOOK ON THE OTHER GUY'S FACE. 🤣
Oh, great, he's selling it.
Is Renslayer seriously about to find them out because Loki stepped on a dude's foot?
Loki has absolutely no patience and his solution to that problem was the best thing ever 😂
I can't believe they ACTUALLY managed to sneak up on her.
Renslayer and Loki & Mobius fighting of talking to Victor is the funniest thing ever. It's like they're fighting for custody, except it's their younger father or something and he knows literally none of them.
And there he goes. 👀
"We just wanna talk!" You are literally chasing this man.
Victor is such a trickster.
SYLVIE WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE.
I wonder if He Who Remains remembered Loki and Sylvie fighting over him back when he was Victor still.
"Well, your machete hasn't solved any problems thus far." Ouch. She literally did deserve that, though.
This moment is the S1 finale all over again.
Giant ghost clock. 👀
Well, at least Miss Minutes had fun.
Victor and Renslayer really did fall in love, didn't they? Huh.
Is Miss Minutes seriously jealous of Renslayer right now? Lmao.
He just called Mobius a butler 😂
"Loki helped murder your variant." He did fucking not, stop manipulating the poor guy.
"Take him! He's all yours!" I almost spat out my soda.
Ooh, boat. How romantic. The writers planned this.
"I always knew my ideas were good. I just didn't have the technology to make them really work." Shit, now I feel bad for him.
The look on his face after she said "partnership."
LMAO.
I KNEW HE WAS GONNA DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT. 🤣
But also. Miss Minutes seems to despise her, so yeah. More of her manipulation is happening.
SHE WAS JEALOUS.
That is the weirdest love triangle ever.
........Why do I feel like Miss Minutes is trying to manipulate him into giving her a body so she can kill him and take over the TVA personally?
There was definitely an "I love you" in there. Holy shit.
Ooh, prototype pruning-baton.
How the hell did Loki & Mobius find them?!?
Victor has to think they're all crazy by now, doesn't he? And he'd be right tbh. Poor dude.
AND THERE'S SYLVIE AGAIN.
This guy is having a rough few days, honestly, what the fuck.
Sylvie, it's not okay to shape people into murderers by trying to kill them before they've committed the crime.
"I can make my own choices." 😭
AYYYYYY.
Respect, Sylvie. Respect. No way letting him leave much less live was easy.
Oh, okay. Well. Wasn't that unexpected. I mean, she wanted to go to the End of Time, didn't she? There she is. Enjoy the corpse.
LMAO AND SHE'S STUCK WITH MISS MINUTES AGAIN.
WAIT, I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THE SECRET WAS.
I can't believe season two is halfway over already...

hello friends! so i've hit a writing slump again, and last time i did my valentine's blurbs challenge it really helped a lot, so i've decided to do it again, but with a summery theme this time!
i'm gonna dump a bunch of prompts here, and you can send requests with any mcu + chris evans + sebastian stan character (and feel free to send me any characters i haven''t written for yet! <3) along with the number of the prompt you would like
my plan is to start these on may 21st, and post every other day (ish) until june 21st (the first day of summer!!) - which puts me at around 18 blurbs <3 and since this isn't valentine's day centered like the last one, i'm open to any genre - not just fluff!
requests for this challenge are closed!
masterlist for this challenge can be found here!
1. "you're cleaning this up, right? since this was your idea." 2. "can we wait a second? i wanna take a picture of you right now." 3. “are you doubting my acting skills?” 4. “it must be hard with your sense of direction, never being able to find your way to a decent pickup line.” 5. meeting as the best friends of their two friends who want to go out together, but not alone 6. getting set up together by mutual friends 7. meeting each other at a kissing booth 8. being caught in a romantic situation by their friends and coming up with a ridiculous explanation for why they are not a couple 9. “i fell in love with you.” “no, you fell down the stairs. you should really learn to hold your liquor.” 10. “do i really have to spell it out for you? i love you! are you happy now?” 11. "you’re so fucking annoying! and- wait, are you hurt?” 12. “when you shut up i almost like you.” 13. there no more seats and character a has to sit in character b’s lap 14. “you know I hated seeing them touching you.” 15. “i told you i’m not good at dancing.” 16. "i know it’s late, but…i couldn’t stop thinking about you.” 17. you feel any pain your soulmate feels 18. “i want to deserve you. i’m trying to deserve you.” 19. “you can't get down, can you?" 20. “do you mind if we stay like this for a little longer?” 21. “you could have warned me!” 22. "i’d like it if you stayed. 23. the AC is out and it’s the middle of summer 24. “you almost died, you asshole!”  25. “i don’t care what you think— as long as it’s about me.”  26. “why do you only call me when it’s convenient for you?”  27. “that sounds a lot like ‘goodbye.’” 28. “stop pretending like everything is fine!” 29. leaving cute notes for the other on the fridge 30. “is that a hickey?”  31. “wait, you think i’m cute?”

Tags: m/m, cc/cc, dead dove, dc comics rp, marvel rp, 21+
TW time: Hurt/comfort, torture, noncon, dubcon followed by comfort with their partner possibly upon rescue.
Howdy, I’m a 30+ year old looking for more RP partners. Not replacing anyone.
I generally tend to write a lot when the mood strikes, but can adjust for those I'm writing with. 3rd person and 3rd person omniscient are the writing styles I regularly use. Will do 1st person upon request but it feels less cooperative to me.
Preferred RP Platform: Discord. Will give discord if we mesh well through tumblr messaging.
Pairings: Preference is M/M
Those who wish to RP with me I’d prefer if you were:
21+
Don't really mind ghosting, but I might just ping you a bit to check if you're okay if a long period of no response happens. Life tends to continually interrupt fun and I understand not having time for things.
No restriction on post length, but would prefer assistance in world building and scene setting. Avoiding one liners as best practice unless it's a conversation between just two people going back and forth. I generally go overboard in some of my posts with length.
Communication: Please let me know if you don't like or have other plans for what's happening. I am perfectly okay going back and modifying my post or rolling back actions if need be. RPing is about both people having fun.
Someone open to doing a lot of plot, not just pwp
Info about RP's I'm open to at the moment:
Main pairing(s) CC x CC
At times having OC's thrown in as villains and antagonists, or random background characters by both of us.
Fandoms searching for right now:
DC - Batfam mainly. I would like to play as one of the Robins. Mainly Jason or Dick. Pairings: JayDick, but honestly I prefer to call it BlueJay, Tim/Kon, Tim/Jason, Jason or Dick / Roy Harper, Batman / insert super powered person or one of the older not blood related robin’s here.
Marvel - I mostly play as Gambit when using the comic universe, but can do MCU characters.
Crossovers between DC & Marvel are also good in my opinion. Down for some AU’s as well.
Willing to do: a/b/o, and playing a switch and not just a bottom
Prefer not to do: Me playing the only top.
Some slice of life fluff and cuteness here and there would also be sweet. Not everything can be awful and dreary the entire RP after all. I enjoy a happy ending.
A couple of the ideas / possible plot points / specific scenes. None of these are a must, but if any tickle your fancy please let me know. These can also be mixed and mashed together or not used at all. Just thoughts. .
- Happy vanilla pair who love each other and are doing their super hero thing and now and then they need to give each other stitches or help change bandages because heroeing is dangerous. - Character gets captured while investigating and gets put into a show in an underground sex club.
- a/b/o batfam with either Jason or Dick covering up that they’re an omega.
- Cadmus captures someone and tries to get information out of them or get DNA so they can possibly make mutant clones and such as Cadmus do.
- Aliens and evil meta humans.
- Prince / Knight AU.
- Knight or king / concubine.
- Trapped in a wall

Writing question, so you're getting it in your askbox: how do you structure a screenplay if you aren't planning on using the Save the Cat method? Do you just build as you go until you get to the climax? Or are their other techniques?
Usual caveat that I am not some big important expert on the film industry, and if my personal opinion bothers anyone, the door is that way.
A screenplay is a story just like a novel is, and there does have to be some kind of structure. Unfortunately Save the Cat has taken that structure and boiled it down to a page-by-page formula that now everyone is expected to follow. Producers and executives just read that one stupid book and so they take the script and say oh I want it to follow this exact formula page by page because I am incapable of just reading a script and deciding if it's compelling or not, I need to make sure it'll do n u m b e r s at the b o x o f f i c e and they want to prepackage films like they're microwave meals.
The way even the good MCU films all feel the same and sound the same and look the same is a microcosm of the Save the Cat effect on Hollywood. You cannot be a slave to a formula, but that's exactly what all the studios want you to do, and it's now what all screenwriters are being taught from the beginning, so it's all they know.
Here is what your story needs:
A solid beginning that answers the question "why now? Why is the story starting here in this moment and not at another time?"
To challenge your protagonist and either force growth (remember, you can grow in the wrong direction, too) or show compelling stagnation (watching a character refuse to grow can be interesting, too, although it's trickier to pull off).
To present you with questions and then answer them - in a murder mystery the question is either "who did this?" or "how will we catch them?" In a romance it's "will they get together?"
To entertain. It must hold a person's interest.
Truth. There must be something real about your story. A real emotion, a real conviction, a real question, a real pain, a real something. Honestly, I think part of why Top Gun: Maverick was such a smash it was that Tom Cruise was so clearly having real fun making it. The audience can feel that.
There are different structures you can turn to. Try them all out. The more you write, the more you practice, the more the structure of a story will become instinctive. You won't think "oh, here's the 'call to adventure'" and "and now we've hit the climax." That will be internalized. But if you are a slave to the formula, as Hollywood has become a slave to the formula of Save the Cat, then you won't be telling actual stories. You'll be churning out product.
There's a short story by Roald Dahl called "The Great Automatic Grammatizator" about a machine that writes stories and ends up replacing human writers. You punch in a basic set of requirements or formula and the machine spits out a complete story for you. If Hollywood could invent such a machine, they would, because they care about digestible predictable bullshit. Even "artistic" movies are called "Oscar bait" for a reason - there is a type of movie that follows a certain formula, and they are "Oscar bait" formula.
There is a distressing artificiality to movies nowadays. Even the sex in movies feels artificial. Compare this to the films in the 70s and 80s where we had natural bodies and erotic thrillers and open ugly tacky unafraid unashamed bare skin and sex.
"How do you structure your screenplay" - why are you all concerned with how your story is structured? Write the damn story. When your first draft is finished, you can look at it and see what's lacking. It's exactly the same as teachers who "teach to the test" - don't "write to the structure."
You're initially taught a structure when you first start writing the same way you're initially taught to follow the recipe when you cook. But no actual good cook follows the recipe to the letter. They add personal flair. Exchange out ingredients. Add or subtract ingredients. Etc.
If using the Save the Cat structure helps you as a beginning screenwriter then by all means read it and try it out a couple times. But don't make it your god the way Hollywood studios have. The day you turn art into a formula, art dies.

Similarities List PART 2
Again, after lots of research has been done, deep thought (it took like half an hour just for one list) and lots of reading, here's the second part to this.....
Small note: SO SORRY FOR NOT HAVING POSTED IN A WHILE :(
MINORS DNI BEYOND THIS POINT
DICK GRAYSON (DC), NEWT (TMR) AND MATT MURDOCK (MCU)
Tease them, they will collapse into such big bottoms
h a n d j o b s
One day they're forcing you on your knees and ordering you around the next day they're sobbing and begging you to touch them
PRAISE KINKS. SO MUCH. SO MUCH PRAISE KINKS
...choking kink im sorry but its true
So soft and sweet
The sex depends on the mood
If its set to cute and fluffy, they'll hold your hand and kiss your face and body as they slowly move in and out, cute soft talk along the way, praise and shit and they're the sweetest beans ever
-"Would you like me to continue my princess? Or is that enough? I'm here to do what you want, just say it"
"Use your words love" bc its their power move
Your pleasure >> theirs
It usually cute love making more than full out sex
BUT ON A ROUGH NIGHT
If the mood is set rough or angry oH BOY ARE YOU IN FOR A NIGHT
Rough. Just rough.
Its no longer sweet and love making
-Full out pounding
Again. Handjobs.
They will make you fulfill every one of THEIR pleasures before they move onto yours
There's the occasional bondage (who's tying up who? Well that's a good question)
 But its never too much
Oh the praise kinks drive them crazy
"Oh? You won't beg? A pity, and here I was ready to give you some fun"
Consent is everything to them
AFTERCAREEEEEEEEEE
They will cling onto you after sex
Cuddles >>>
Fall asleep almost right after
Soft morning love making is their favourite
They take you out for breakfast on the weekends
Fridays you go out for a fancy dinner
Sundays are lazy movie days
Bruce knows Dick is a soft angel but this is on another level
Villains. Dick is so protective. Like so much
Constantly calling you to make sure you're okay
"Call me as soon as you get home"
"If there's even ANYTHING suspicious you call me do you understand?"
"If there's any problems and you see Batman. Run the other way. I don't care what it is, I don't want you to get hurt"
If you do get taken-
No sleep
Always up planning
Alfred tried coaxing him to sleep but he wouldn't listen
"If I sleep I waste time, and I don't know if she HAS time"
He cries every five minutes
Damian joked around about the Joker having taken you
Dick literally went into a panic AND anxiety attack + a mental breakdown all in one
Damian got grounded
You getting captured by Wicked
Same effect
Crazy
Loses his mind
Constant breakdowns
Matt. Ohmygod the devil of Hell's Kitchen, losing the love of his life???
Prepare New York you've got a new villain on your hands
He'd lose his mind
Forget work he's 24/7 looking for you
No mercy on anyone, at all, will and has destroyed everything in his path to find you
Nearly broke up with you a bit after that, realizing how much danger he puts you in
Basically. If he loses you, he will have his villain arc and kill every single person on this planet until he finds you and you are safe and sound in his arms
They love buying you sweet little gifts
Getting suffocated by your thighs while you sit on their faces >>>>>
Such softies
Again super protective
Always taking care of you
SUCH SWEETBEANS
No toys. Unless you're okay with it but they prefer not to
Bottom behaviour on tired days
Again, can go from these hardcore tops, fucking you into oblivion to wanting you to fuck them into oblivion
I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH
PRAISE KINK
Vocal.
They love hearing you make all the pretty little noises just for them
Its like heaven to their ears
But they're also very vocal
Cuddling while they work that usually ends in needy soft sex
~~~~~~~~ - Clem (and a bit of Atlas)
Everyone claiming Miguel isn't funny.
Miguel himself calling Peter in the MCU a 'little nerd'.
Nicknames / quips is such a Spidey staple. Personally, I do think he does have some humor hidden deep down but for the mission, Miguel swallows down anything to derail his plans for stopping anomalies and having worlds collapsing on itself.
He's not there to have fun. Being a Spiderman for so long has dulled Miguel's senses even more than Peter B. Parker, since even that worn down Spidey could still be sarcastic and humorous at times. Probably was more open with making jokes in his own universe before everything hit the fan, as in his canon event happening.
Then again, the next movie might go over his past a little bit more and this can be blown out of the water for not being right. As for right now, there is room to expand on this.
Secretary!Spiderman; Getting you ready before a meeting
Tumblr media
MCU!Peter
He plans for everything and goes miles to make it convenient for you. To ensure this he asked Peter 2 and Peter 3. Peter 2 told him the importance of starting the day right, that he always had to send his boss a morning checklist. Peter 3 said to make sure their ready and comfortable, he also left to take his boss to lunch.
Tells you to prep the day before and will help you wake up. Straight up asks for a key and waltz into you house bright n' early. While you shower he lays out a suit and bring breakfast from that coffee shop around the corner you like. While he drives he'll brief you on the power point.
He's in charge of helping you during the meeting. Has Ned on speed dial in case anything goes awry. Is very proud when the meeting goes well. Takes a huge breath of relief.
TASM!Peter
Briefs you on the people at the meeting. Who you need to impress, what they like, if they are known for interrupting people, and if you match their basic biases. So basically he gossips.
Will help you make the presentation and stays after to do it. After making it you edit, and edit, and edit some more until you can say it's full-proof. Or more importantly, fool-proof.
And to pat you both on the back you guys go out to eat. Wherever you want. The Chinese takeout place? Done. That local Italian restaurant with owners who love you? He'll call them before hand to tell them your coming. Oh, that fancy restaurant that's really hard to get into? Give him five minutes, he'll call in a favor.
Trilogy!Peter
He will inform you of it the day before so you can be fully prepared. Dry-cleaned suit, shower, and breakfast is what he expects before you roll into the office. Will reprimand you if you got less than seven hours of sleep. Before you go he runs a comb through your hair.
Sits in the meeting very leisurely. Leans back and writes on his iPad. When you look at him he'll mouth you reassurance and helps you power through. If he sees someone tapping out he'll ask you to restate your last point and kick them under the table, keeping an innocent smile.
If your tired after he'll make sure no one bothers you for the rest of the day. You deserve a reward for your hard work so he'll even take half of your paperwork.
Peter B. Parker
He tells you about meetings days in advanced, if you don't remember it's your fault. Well, technically it is his fault as your secretary. He has an emergency kit in his desk for just this reason. Hair gel, hair ties, lint roller, mints, lip balm, cologne, and a nice looking watch. He'll get you ready in 20 minutes, you'll be good.
He'll tell you to wait around the corner and peak at the meeting, when he comes back he'll give you a few points to hit. "The old guy with the blue tie is pretty easy, talk a little down to him, he's kinda dumb and you need him onboard. But watch out for Jennifer, she's cutthroat. If she starts tearing you down stand your ground, she'll mess up and when she does ask her to repeat herself. And remember to hit the four points. Good? Good. Let's go."
Afterwards he ruffles your hair and tells you good job. Then immediately ruins the moment by taking you to the gym. After a good workout he takes you to a diner that is to die for. He pays too.
Miles Morales
Fully focuses on the contents of the meeting. You will be fully briefed on the power point so you don't trip up. Even if you are not giving the presentation he'll brief you, so you look smart. No one will know you had a day to think of all those in-depth questions.
Doesn't think about your appearance until you complain about it a bit, saying you had to rush out of the house. He panics for a second and fusses over you, apologizing he didn't notice. Saying he didn't think about it, letting it slip he forgot because he thinks you look great always.
When you check on him later he's in the zone drawing. Looking over his shoulder you see yourself in the meeting. They're very flattering and make you super cool. Freaks out when you make yourself known, shoves it under his keyboard and turns to you with a guilty smile.
Loki Season 2 Episode 6 “Glorious Purpose” Thoughts and Theories
          If you have not seen this episode, then please look away. I loved this ending, and you should be able to watch it without getting spoiled, so please read this later if you haven’t seen the episode.
          This is probably one of the best endings that an MCU Disney+ show has ever had. I was worried coming into this episode because sometimes the MCU just kind of does a big fight scene in the last two episodes of its series then they call it a day. This didn’t happen here, which I’m thankful for. Sure, you can have problems with this ending. I can think of a few but to me it works. What basically happens is Loki, after trying numerous times to save the TVA and all universes in existence, finds out that the Temporal Loom was always a failsafe. If He Who Remains Dies, then it is set to blow everything up except for the sacred timeline. That’s why He Who Remains is so confident that he’ll come back because he knows that everything will pretty much reset, and he’ll be back on his throne in no time. Loki’s only true choices are to side with He Who Remains and play his game with him OR he could destroy the temporal loom, which will/might cause this multiversal war.
          Loki ends up choosing his own option, one that’s based on what Mobius and Sylvie has told him, he decides to destroy the temporal loom; sit on the throne at the end of time; and he becomes the guiding force for these multiversal branches to grow.  He basically becomes the Yggdrasil tree, but if the Yggdrasil tree encompassed all of the multiverse and not just the nine realms that make up one universe.
          This was such an amazing episode. Loki time slipping back and forth to try to prevent the Temporal Loom from collapsing was such a fun sequence. I think Tom Hiddleston really gave it his all in this series. The sequence with him as he walks towards the end of the gangway to destroy the Temporal Loom was amazing. The temporal radiation pealing away his TVA uniform, and we slowly see his Asgardian robes and helmet forming was such a good visual. Same with him on the throne weaving the multiversal branches together. Loki basically got what he wanted by the end of this episode but at a cost. He finally got to be on a throne, and he made sure that his friends are safe.
By the way, Tom Hiddleston basically completes his transformation as the Doctor from Doctor Who in this episode. He literally learns everything he knows about mechanics, physics, and engineering, then the next time we saw him he was as smart as the Doctor. Well, he kind of acted like how the Doctor would act I thought.
I like how because of the events that transpired this episode, the TVA seems to now be a force that helps multiverses grow and a force that is trying to make sure that Kang doesn’t destroy the universe. I think they’re going to prune his variants from the timeline or at least just stop him in some other way. Also, I’m sure that the TVA is good hands with Hunter B-15. I think she will be a great leader along with Casey and OB. I’m pretty sure we are going to see them again (or at least I hope so). Especially, if a He Who Remains Variant is involved.
Speaking of which, this episode showed me how conniving He Who Remains was. He basically had all of these fail safes and plans to make sure that he is in power. Also, I think this showed us how powerful and smart a Kang variant could be better than Quantumania did. I liked Quantumania but I don’t like how Kang was defeated there. Yes, it showed what one Kang variant could do on his own which is what I really liked about the movie, but I don’t think he should have been defeated there.
Mobius and Sylvie played a big part in Loki’s decision in this episode. They basically told him to make the harder choice even though it comes with great burden, especially if these harder choices would be the good and right thing. I hope these two get to live their lives to be honest. I hope Sylvie is somewhere out there finding the family she was taken from or at least living a life that she would be happy with. I hope that mobius is somewhere in the water riding his jet ski. I just want the lad to live his life and be happy. I’m also glad he got to see what his real life was like. It was pretty sweet when he chose to just pass the time in there for a bit.
By the way, just a random fact, there were things here that was said by He Who Remains and some other characters that was also said in The Marvels. I immediately picked up on it because I literally just saw it a few hours ago. I’m sure it’s not connected but it was weird to hear the same things.
THEORIES:
          I don’t really have many theories for this episode. I do think that we will see Loki again at some point. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be the way that Marvel is going to try and get back the old Avengers like Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. There’s been rumors about them getting the old team back and I think Loki would be the way to do that if they want.
          Also. Mild Spoilers for The Marvels, but something happens there that this one character says is impossible, but this episode answers why that is possible now.
          I hope you enjoyed reading this. Thank you for reading. I have a migraine right now, so I hope this all made sense. If there’s anything you guys want to talk about, or you think I might be wrong on certain things then please let me know. I’d love to know what you think.
ok I got around to the cinema tonight and can now do a full review so THOR: LOVE & THUNDER SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!!
first off, let me just say: TAIKA. MOTHERFUCKING. WAITITI. this man has done so much for the Thor movies and has really brought so much richness and colour into the MCU. this movie was equal parts funny and emotional and I had such a blast watching it!!!
I’ve seen a few people say that it doesn’t feel like a cohesive movie narratively and to that I’d say I disagree completely; it’s just not as cohesive within the larger story of the MCU. Personally, I don’t think that takes away from the movie at all!! I never felt like there was something missing, it does a good job at being a very solid standalone movie. Thor as a character has always thrived in his solo movies far more than in the big plans of the MCU, I find. When he gets tossed into a group setting such as the Avengers, he ends up becoming more like the butt of the joke (hence, the offensive fat Thor bit they had in Endgame). I find here, in his solo movies, they maintain that himbo energy while also letting him have depth and be serious when necessary.
There are a few other smaller things to cover before the next big things I want to discuss, such as the POST CREDITS SCENEEEE. As a Ted Lasso super fan, seeing Brett Goldstein as Hercules a) made me scream in my seat, and b) makes SO MUCH SENSE. He’s here, he’s there, he’s every-fucking-where, and Mr. Roy Kent has a growl and bark to him that makes his energy so perfect. AMAZING CASTING!! And now that Cristo Fernandez AKA Dani Rojas was a bartender in the end credit for Spiderman NWH, the Ted Lasso -> MCU pipeline has been created and can only get stronger from here! My heart is bursting at the seams!! Also, round of applause to the screaming goats because that never failed to make me laugh. And no, I’m not just saying that because it was inspired by the Taylor Swift goat parody of I Knew You Were Trouble. And finally, I’d like to shout out Taika for making me fall back in love with Thor and Janes as a couple because this is the movie that really gave us the dynamic and love between them that the others never could. Here, they felt real and earnest and truly connected. The chemistry with Chris and Natalie was very solid and I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m going to miss their relationship a lot!
Now let’s talk about the next big thing: the queer rep. This is where a lot of people are divided, with some saying it was super gay and some saying the representation was underwhelming and disappointing for something that was “marketed as a super gay film”. However, I’m not sure I agree with either of those statements. Was it super gay? No, not at all. There were definitely some much appreciated confirmations of queerness with more than one character I suppose, but none of it felt worthy of it being marketed as extremely gay. That being said, there is a difference between Taika and Tessa calling it super gay and it being specifically marketed as super gay. At no point in any of the interviews or promos did they promise deep and prominent queer exploration. It’s also worth noting that Disney has a lot of control over the story, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Taika had wanted to make it even gayer and the higher-ups had said no. Also keep in mind that there WAS allegedly a version of this movie where Valkyrie’s whole storyline was romantic and she had a love interest, but Tessa didn’t want love to be the center of Valkyrie’s story and wanted a different route, so they rolled with it. So overall, the movie didn’t contain as much queer content as I had anticipated, but I don’t think it was a baiting attempt or a downside to the movie in any way. We got what we got, and even though it wasn’t a gay extravaganza, what we got was very solid.
The part of this movie that shines the most though has to be Christian Bale as Gorr. Not only was he completely fucking terrifying, but he was also, at the same time somehow, a villain I could sympathize with much more than Thanos. This movie was all about love and loss and how they intertwine, and Gorr reflects that just as much as Thor does, though in their separate ways. And let’s just take a minute to appreciate the differences between Gorr and Thanos because!!! hello!!! Thanos kills his own daughter for a goal of his that is purely economic/practical (in his mind) whereas Gorr literally makes a vow to kill every single god in existence just because his god didn’t save his daughter!! That is so beautiful!! And to think that I was more scared of Gorr than I ever was of Thanos, and yet still simultaneously more moved by Gorr. And in the end, he HAS to do the right thing!! His motivations and beliefs REQUIRE it!! If he had used his wish to kill all the gods when he could have used it to bring his daughter back, he would have been willfully refusing to save her and would therefore have been a hypocrite and just like the gods themselves. This movie did a fantastic job of answering the question: what happens when a villain’s motivation is, truly and without falter, love?
Overall, when looking at the bigger picture of the MCU, this movie does not contribute much and probably isn’t the best of the best. But I think I like it better that way??? It’s a movie that shines beautifully on its own, whereas something like Dr Strange MOM (even though it also found its strength in the director’s strong stylistic tone coming through) had its faults even if you did look at it as a standalone movie, which is why this one is just so much more enjoyable. I would rate this movie a solid 8.7/10
WIP Update - 31 Aug 2022
A fairly productive week  - I touched 6 fics (4 WIPs & 2 new works) for a total of  2024 words.   @psychiccatpanda  and I posted Chapter 4 of our Stucky --> Stuckony non-traditional a/b/o WIP  and a Steve POV ficlet where he learns about asexuality over on Ao3 and I wrote & posted  a Stony a/b/o ficlet for Flash Fiction Friday that also fills my Omega Steve square on  my Steve Rogers Bingo card.
I’m up to 12 active WIPs  (with a couple of maybe TBCs)  with my current   deadlines being my submission for the @reforgedzine  and  @avengersbingo .
See below cut for the WIPs  (arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc) I am working on  -   feel free to send me prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding any of these projects   (or any other WIPs I’ve got out there) – they really help feed the Muse and keep me motivated!
Suck-tember [ Runs thru 30 Sep]
As you might guess from the name,  @suck-tember  is a writing event focused on oral gratification.   I read through the list of prompts and decided to try to combine a few with my bingo squares.
* Day 2: Swollen:  Finished the rough draft of Chapter 2 of Mutual Pinning    this morning;  it’s basically ThunderShield (Steve/Thor) smut with a focus on oral sex, leading into a third chapter of full on sex.   Currently sitting at 1361 words.
Reforged - A WinterIron Zine [Deadline 12 Nov]
I got accepted to submit a  1k-3.5k fic for this project, and have submitted a basic idea & completed my first checkin.    Am poking at it little by little; it’s sitting at  1901 words - so  just over halfway done word-wise.   Plot wise? That’s still TBD…  I have very broad strokes in mind that are going to be tricky to get done in the words I have left…   :: eek::
Avengers Bingo [AvB] (Runs thru 24 Dec)
Five fills posted and 0 WIPs - I decided to further challenge myself on this 16-square card by pairing up each square with a unique combo of 2 original MCU Avengers, with the final square being PolyVengers. With the help of the STB Enthusiasts Discord folks - I’ve got all 16 squares  planned out, at least in terms of who to write about, and half of them have some sort of idea or crossover square to go along with them. Feel free to toss other plot  bunnies my way…
* A3 - Reunited  -   Clint & Natasha  -  Endgame Ronin scene?
* B1 - Death - possible crossover with  MWAP Crying  and SRB Bruce Banner squares - post Snap Bruce & Steve  mourning?
* B3 - Road Trip  -  Bruce & Thor  - Post Grandmaster, pre-Thanos  space shenanigans
* B4 - Age Gap   - Thor/Tony - possible crossover with TSB One Night Stand  (obvious title: Thunderstruck)
* C1 - Opposites Attract - Clint/Thor  - there was a fun Tumblr  headcanon going around about a Bumbling Foreigner whose ignorance of  local customs  results in him flirting with/proposing to the prince -  this seems like a perfect matchup!
* C3 - Reincarnation AU  -  Natasha & Tony  - post-Endgame.
* D1 - Friends w/ Benefits  - Clint/Steve - crossover with MWAPB Hawkeye/Clint Barton and possibly SRB - Never Have I Ever
* D2 - Romeo & Juliet AU  -  basic idea:  Steve (jock) & Tony  (geek) trying out for title roles in R&J - despite their respective  FWB groups thinking it’s a terrible idea.  Title:  Two Polycules, Alike in Dignity
*  D3 - Bed Sharing  -  Bruce/Natasha - AoU compliant.
Man With a Plan (Steve Rogers) Bingo [MWAPB] (Runs thru 31 Dec)
Nine fills, 1 WIPs and several Vague Ideas/potential cross fills with other bingos.  Prompts cheerfully accepted!
* B3 - Farmer’s Market  - now looking at a crossover with TSB Doing Groceries. Moodboard + ficlet?
* B4 - Powerless AU  - if Sunqueen and I decide to continue   Wrong Number, Right Call ,  this would be a good fit.
* I1 - Steve is here for TFAtWS  - this might go well with my BBB  “Oh, hell no"  square - Steve trolling  Bucky & Sam by sending the old man in with his shield?  (moodboard & ficlet?)
* I5 - Dogsitting - possible crossover with  BBB “Run”  square - Steve & Bucky dogsitting for Lucky?  (moodboard + ficlet)
* N1 - School AU/Teacher AU  - if I decide to continue on with Technicalities   - I could fill this square  :: ponders::
* N3 - Online shopping - this might be fun as a crossover with BBB Thighs  Sam buys a revealing swimsuit for Bucky as a gag that gets Steve in a tizzy.
* G3 - USO Tour  -   posted   Not Broken, Just Different   -- a crossover with  @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt [#FFF164 A False Confession] --  to Ao3 this morning -  Steve POV internal monologue/identity issues of sorts that came in at 601 words.
* G4 - Canon Divergence post CA:TWS - possible  crossover with BBB  Kill List – Bucky wreaking havoc on Hydra bases and  Steve & Sam catch up with him
* G5 - Friends to Lovers -  might use this for Chapter 3 of Mutual Pinning
* O1 - Crying - see AvB Death square above
*  O2 - Sex Pollen  -  Teenage Groot pollen =  aphrodisiac  hi-jinks. Quill & Gamora  warn the  couple (stucky)/throuple (Stuckony)  ahead of time, so no  dub-con.
* O3 - Hawkeye/Clint Barton  -  see AvB - Friends w/ Benefits  above.
StarkBucks Bingo - Round 3  (SBB_R3) - Ends 31 Dec
5 fills, 1 WIPs and several Vague Ideas - soliciting plot bunnies or other kick-starters.
* B1 - “I wouldn’t mind wasting my time on you.“  - Possible crossover with  BBB - KINK: Seduction Mission?
* B3 - AU: Canon Divergence - probable crossover with TSB Endgame FixIt
* B4 - AU: Dealer’s Choice - Filled this with Chapter 4 of   Flawed Hypothesis, which posted on Friday and came in at 1077 words.
* I2 - Mistaken Identity - crossover with TSB K5 - Protectiveness -  “The Mechanic, The Soldier & The Artist” - mob/assassin AU with a Mr. & Mrs. Smith twist?
* I4 - Canon: Avengers Academy  - will probably do Stuffed Marvels sketches of Tony and Winter, as I know very little about the game/canon.
* I5 - Matchmaker Bots - possible crossover with TSB Occupational Hazard
* N2 - Blanket - Thanks to the July BBB Discord party , I have an idea for combining this with my TSB   AU: College square and BBB Funeral square.
* G3 - “This might as well happen.” Going to see if I can squish this into a Stucky –> Stuckony spur-of-the-moment threesome fic inspired by a series of posts with @needyoucap over on the STB Enthusiasts Discord server that in turn led to their WIP  Steve & Bucky’s Sexy Bucket List.  My version (alternating POV)  is sitting at  1049 words and will also fill my TSB square  Hindsight.
* O1 - Royalty - crossover with TSB - IronWidow  &  BBB   AU: Arranged Marriage -  pick Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion  back up?
* O6 - AU: Biker  - Grease 2  fusion  anyone?  😁  I watched the movie a couple of weeks ago and took notes -  It’s not gonna be a faithful adaptation, but hopefully fun - tho am having a tough time deciding who is Michael (probably Bucky, tho a case could be made for Tony)
Hero Hardships Bingo  [HHB]  (Runs thru 31 Dec)
Signups re-opened for this non-fandom-specific event  (see @herohardshipsbingo for details) so I grabbed me a card!   Still trying to match squares up across my other bingos, but I have a few Vague Ideas already, including one WIP
* I3 - Unimaginable Grief  – I‘m thinking an post-Endgame Rhodey POV would work nicely here…
* N5 - Forgetting who you are because of who you’re expected to be - This should fit nicely with the in-progress Tony POV chapter of Flawed Hypothesis,  @psychiccatpanda  and I are about 574 words into Chapter 5 at the moment. Current Last Line: But Tony was a master of hiding discomfort and he fell into the role of charming omega once again.
* O3 - Dating a civilian -  this would fit perfectly with another chapter of Takin’ What They’re Givin’ (‘Cause I’m Workin’ for a Livin’) , for which I currently have a basic plot point or two rolling around in my head.
Bucky Barnes Bingo - Round 4 [BBB_R4] (Runs thru 7 Jan 2023)
Ten fills,  two WIPs  & ideas for everything except one square  - Working on a Column B bingo to start.
* B2 - Funeral - see SBB N2 - Blanket  above
* B3 - Sam Wilson|Falcon - this would be a good candidate for a continuation of After One Or Two False Starts
* U2 - AU: Roommate  - Still wanting to use the Meet Ugly prompt: 02. I bought a house three months ago but I’m finally moving in and discover you’ve been squatting because you’re homeless    – probably WinterHawk with  recovering!Bucky being the squatter in Clint’s apartment building.
* U4 - AU: Arranged Marriage - will probably pick Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion  back up for this one.
* U5 - Kill List -  see MWAP  - G4 - Canon Divergence.  Post CA:TWS above
* Y2 - Never the fall that kills you -  this might be the title for a reverse hanahaki WinterIron prompt from @lacrimula-falsa ….
* Y3 - “Run”  -  see MWAP I5 - Dogsitting above.
* Y4 - KINK: Seduction Mission - crossover with SBB - B1 - “I wouldn’t mind wasting my time on you.”
* ADOPTED1 - Peggy Carter - possible crossover with  N4 - Soulmates  (WW3some shenanigans!)
Steve Rogers Bingo - Round 2  (SRB_R2) - Ends 31 Jan
Nine fills posted    – thanks mostly to the @steverogersweek event!  Zero WIPs at the moment, but happy accepting plot bunnies here as well.
* A1 - Never Have I Ever -  see AvB  Friends with Benefits
* A4 - Touch Attention/Denial  - possible chapter 2 of   Mutual Pinning (ThunderShield sexytimes)
* B1 - Omega Steve -   Posted  A Not-So-Mere Relic  - a Stony a/b/o ficlet (Tony POV)  here on Tumblr last Friday as a crossover with @flashfictionfridayofficial‘s prompt  #FFF165 A Mere Relic; it also fills my TSB square  KINK: Alpha/Beta/Omega Society and came in at 815 words.  It will get posted over on Ao3 sometime in the next few weeks.   Thanks again to  @deehellcat  for the idea of Alpha!Tony with an heirloom collar!
Which is sadly why I think I failed to have a great time. The only Sam Raimi movie I know to my knowledge were his Spider Man movies. Like...I knew of the Evil Dead Series, and though I enjoy the paranormal, horror isn't exactly my fave genre. Because of this, to me the final end credit didn't have the same effect as Deadpool's fourth wall breaking 'go home already' thing, and felt like they were calling me a loser nerd with strong 90's/early 00 when it was a more serious insult for waiting for the second credit seen that has now been established as a Marvel thing. Like yeah, they really did make me feel like I wasted my time there and got shamed for it rather than it being a treat. Maybe Sam Ax fans liked it, I didn't. Add that the retcon/ignoring of WV.... This movie was just a lesson to me to temper back my expectations of MCU movies by a LOT going forward.
Do you buy your comics physically or do you read them online? I've been trying to get more into comics but with there being a lot of them, I never know where or how to start.
Yeah. Honestly, I'm seeing this fairly often when it comes to this movie actually. I've seen exactly what you're saying from quite a few people. I think the age/genre gaps of what Raimi does missed the mark with a fair amount of people. Sam Raimi has a style and a "brand" at this point. and if you aren't old enough to know it i guess or don't follow him outside of things like his Spider-Man movies then you kind of "miss" some of what makes a Raimi movie a Raimi movie.
I will say.... While Evil Dead movies are "horror" genre.... they are very COMEDY too. and Campy. So, you might enjoy them more than you think??? as I am NOT a horror genre fan either and I like them a lot. (tho i also grew up on them a bit and love Bruce Campbell) Campbell's cameo was FUN for me.
but I've also admitted I left the theater before the second credits scene, where you said you felt basically insulted, because I was so excited about Clea's introduction I like... just couldn't comprehend anything else after and took off. I did not give ONE shit about what came after that and LEFT. I didn't get the "are you dumb? the movie's over" experience from Campbell's character. I'm sure with the director and actor it was meant as a fun little moment...... but you are NOT alone in feeling a bit let down by it... even insulted. And that is definitely not what you want to feel as an audience member. I'm sorry it left that mark on you. I wish a Doctor Strange movie had given something more fulfilling.
Yeah, and on top of it not really being a true Doctor Strange movie. it still kind of just skimmed past or seemed to kind of ignore some WandaVision stuff, so I get you there. If we were gonna focus on Wanda like..... then.... let's go all in then!! let's GO! but they still just... skimmed it a bit. and then we ended up with this movie that was this kind of limbo between Wanda and Strange and left me, personally, feeling a bit wanting for more from either or both of the characters. We didn't even get a true parallel story for them, given how they skimmed Supreme!Strange's story and over the "hypocrisy" of Stephen using the Darkhold (which could be and might be revisited in future movies) but. it just didn't feel... like... a complete... or whole story. because it just danced around between Wanda and Strange and didn't complete any of their interconnecting threads, imo.
I would definitely temper legit expectations of MCU movies. Like, just try to understand... these are not actually long long term thought out arcs, they're actually very much like comic book story arcs/events.... ignore how much interviews with Feige will try to sell you that they've thought all this through years and years in advance. They're also here to put butts in seats, so even if planned out they WILL adjust just to get more butts in seats.
On the Comics themselves. Let me make a separate post for that right after this that I hope you see because this post is already long, as I get longwinded about Doctor Strange
Story Structures for your Next WIP
hello, hello. this post will be mostly for my notes. this is something I need in to be reminded of for my business, but it can also be very useful and beneficial for you guys as well.
everything in life has structure and storytelling is no different, so let’s dive right in :)
First off let’s just review what a story structure is :
a story is the backbone of the story, the skeleton if you will. It hold the entire story together.
the structure in which you choose your story will effectively determine how you create drama and depending on the structure you choose it should help you align your story and sequence it with the conflict, climax, and resolution.
1. Freytag's Pyramid
this first story structure i will be talking about was named after 19th century German novelist and playwright.
it is a five point structure that is based off classical Greek tragedies such as Sophocles, Aeschylus and Euripedes.
Freytag's Pyramid structure consists of:
Introduction: the status quo has been established and an inciting incident occurs.
Rise or rising action: the protagonist will search and try to achieve their goal, heightening the stakes,
Climax: the protagonist can no longer go back, the point of no return if you will.
Return or fall: after the climax of the story, tension builds and the story inevitably heads towards...
Catastrophe: the main character has reached their lowest point and their greatest fears have come into fruition.
this structure is used less and less nowadays in modern storytelling mainly due to readers lack of appetite for tragic narratives.
Tumblr media
2. The Hero's Journey
the hero's journey is a very well known and popular form of storytelling.
it is very popular in modern stories such as Star Wars, and movies in the MCU.
although the hero's journey was inspired by Joseph Campbell's concept, a Disney executive Christopher Vogler has created a simplified version:
The Ordinary World: The hero's everyday routine and life is established.
The Call of Adventure: the inciting incident.
Refusal of the Call: the hero / protagonist is hesitant or reluctant to take on the challenges.
Meeting the Mentor: the hero meets someone who will help them and prepare them for the dangers ahead.
Crossing the First Threshold: first steps out of the comfort zone are taken.
Tests, Allie, Enemies: new challenges occur, and maybe new friends or enemies.
Approach to the Inmost Cave: hero approaches goal.
The Ordeal: the hero faces their biggest challenge.
Reward (Seizing the Sword): the hero manages to get ahold of what they were after.
The Road Back: they realize that their goal was not the final hurdle, but may have actually caused a bigger problem than before.
Resurrection: a final challenge, testing them on everything they've learned.
Return with the Elixir: after succeeding they return to their old life.
the hero's journey can be applied to any genre of fiction.
Tumblr media
3. Three Act Structure:
this structure splits the story into the 'beginning, middle and end' but with in-depth components for each act.
Act 1: Setup:
exposition: the status quo or the ordinary life is established.
inciting incident: an event sets the whole story into motion.
plot point one: the main character decided to take on the challenge head on and she crosses the threshold and the story is now progressing forward.
Act 2: Confrontation:
rising action: the stakes are clearer and the hero has started to become familiar with the new world and begins to encounter enemies, allies and tests.
midpoint: an event that derails the protagonists mission.
plot point two: the hero is tested and fails, and begins to doubt themselves.
Act 3: Resolution:
pre-climax: the hero must chose between acting or failing.
climax: they fights against the antagonist or danger one last time, but will they succeed?
Denouement: loose ends are tied up and the reader discovers the consequences of the climax, and return to ordinary life.
Tumblr media
4. Dan Harmon's Story Circle
it surprised me to know the creator of Rick and Morty had their own variation of Campbell's hero's journey.
the benefit of Harmon's approach is that is focuses on the main character's arc.
it makes sense that he has such a successful structure, after all the show has multiple seasons, five or six seasons? i don't know not a fan of the show.
the character is in their comfort zone: also known as the status quo or ordinary life.
they want something: this is a longing and it can be brought forth by an inciting incident.
the character enters and unfamiliar situation: they must take action and do something new to pursue what they want.
adapt to it: of course there are challenges, there is struggle and begin to succeed.
they get what they want: often a false victory.
a heavy price is paid: a realization of what they wanted isn't what they needed.
back to the good old ways: they return to their familiar situation yet with a new truth.
having changed: was it for the better or worse?
i might actually make a operate post going more in depth about dan harmon's story circle.
5. Fichtean Curve:
the fichtean curve places the main character in a series of obstacles in order to achieve their goal.
this structure encourages writers to write a story packed with tension and mini-crises to keep the reader engaged.
The Rising Action
the story must start with an inciting indecent.
then a series of crisis arise.
there are often four crises.
2. The Climax:
3. Falling Action
this type of story telling structure goes very well with flash-back structured story as well as in theatre.
Tumblr media
6. Save the Cat Beat Sheet:
this is another variation of a three act structure created by screenwriter Blake Snyder, and is praised widely by champion storytellers.
Structure for Save the Cat is as follows: (the numbers in the brackets are for the number of pages required, assuming you're writing a 110 page screenplay)
Opening Image [1]: The first shot of the film. If you’re starting a novel, this would be an opening paragraph or scene that sucks readers into the world of your story.
Set-up [1-10]. Establishing the ‘ordinary world’ of your protagonist. What does he want? What is he missing out on?
Theme Stated [5]. During the setup, hint at what your story is really about — the truth that your protagonist will discover by the end.
Catalyst [12]. The inciting incident!
Debate [12-25]. The hero refuses the call to adventure. He tries to avoid the conflict before they are forced into action.
Break into Two [25]. The protagonist makes an active choice and the journey begins in earnest.
B Story [30]. A subplot kicks in. Often romantic in nature, the protagonist’s subplot should serve to highlight the theme.
The Promise of the Premise [30-55]. Often called the ‘fun and games’ stage, this is usually a highly entertaining section where the writer delivers the goods. If you promised an exciting detective story, we’d see the detective in action. If you promised a goofy story of people falling in love, let’s go on some charmingly awkward dates.
Midpoint [55]. A plot twist occurs that ups the stakes and makes the hero’s goal harder to achieve — or makes them focus on a new, more important goal.
Bad Guys Close In [55-75]. The tension ratchets up. The hero’s obstacles become greater, his plan falls apart, and he is on the back foot.
All is Lost [75]. The hero hits rock bottom. He loses everything he’s gained so far, and things are looking bleak. The hero is overpowered by the villain; a mentor dies; our lovebirds have an argument and break up.
Dark Night of the Soul [75-85-ish]. Having just lost everything, the hero shambles around the city in a minor-key musical montage before discovering some “new information” that reveals exactly what he needs to do if he wants to take another crack at success. (This new information is often delivered through the B-Story)
Break into Three [85]. Armed with this new information, our protagonist decides to try once more!
Finale [85-110]. The hero confronts the antagonist or whatever the source of the primary conflict is. The truth that eluded him at the start of the story (established in step three and accentuated by the B Story) is now clear, allowing him to resolve their story.
Final Image [110]. A final moment or scene that crystallizes how the character has changed. It’s a reflection, in some way, of the opening image.
Tumblr media
7. Seven Point Story Structure:
this structure encourages writers to start with the at the end, with the resolution, and work their way back to the starting point.
this structure is about dramatic changes from beginning to end
The Hook. Draw readers in by explaining the protagonist’s current situation. Their state of being at the beginning of the novel should be in direct contrast to what it will be at the end of the novel.
Plot Point 1. Whether it’s a person, an idea, an inciting incident, or something else — there should be a "Call to Adventure" of sorts that sets the narrative and character development in motion.
Pinch Point 1. Things can’t be all sunshine and roses for your protagonist. Something should go wrong here that applies pressure to the main character, forcing them to step up and solve the problem.
Midpoint. A “Turning Point” wherein the main character changes from a passive force to an active force in the story. Whatever the narrative’s main conflict is, the protagonist decides to start meeting it head-on.
Pinch Point 2. The second pinch point involves another blow to the protagonist — things go even more awry than they did during the first pinch point. This might involve the passing of a mentor, the failure of a plan, the reveal of a traitor, etc.
Plot Point 2. After the calamity of Pinch Point 2, the protagonist learns that they’ve actually had the key to solving the conflict the whole time.
Resolution. The story’s primary conflict is resolved — and the character goes through the final bit of development necessary to transform them from who they were at the start of the novel.
(all information regarding the seven point story structure was copy and pasted directly from reedsy!)
i decided to fit all of them in one post instead of making it a two part post.
i hope you all enjoy this post and feel free to comment or reblog which structure you use the most, or if you have your own you prefer to use! please share with me!
