GOOLock: Reloaded
Like the Berserker Reloaded from a while back. I like taking subclasses I find to be lacking but have fun theming and try to make them a bit more powerful/fun to use.
By the way, there is an exploit with Cosmic Madness that can allow you to use it on people on other planes of existence. This is 100% intentional because I think it is funny.

You see, if you enter into a pact with me, I'll grant you supreme power in exchange for your service. And you can in turn grant others supreme power in exchange for their service, and so on. It's definitely not a pyramid scheme. Don't look it up.

Pact of the Wolf (a DND 5e Homebrew inspired by Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Dimension 20: Neverafter)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Death is the Great Equalizer. Though they may slip through the fingers of time, fairies, fiends, and celestials alike know to fear and respect Her, and even the undead can only substract themselves from Her grasp for so long.
Thus, many mortals come to see Death as the paramount example of persistence hunting in the wild: a wolf. This aspect is apparently not distasteful to Her, as the mortals who embrace inevitabilty and forge a pact with Her manifest Her powers through the form of a mighty wolf.
These mortals, nicknamed the Sheep-Clothed, are often only asked by Death not to interfere with the natural circle of life. However, while some of the powers She grants are geared towards dealing death and destroying undead, others have the sole purpose of defying Death Herself.
We can only speculate as to why Death would arm the Sheep-Clothed with the tools to fight Her. Perhaps, like the wolves She is compared to, She enjoys the chase. Perhaps She understands that a natural part of the circle of life is mortals fiercely defending their lives. Or perhaps She wants to teach us that even with the powers of Death at their sides, everyone eventually becomes Her subject.
Oath Spells
The Wolf lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
1st level: hunter's mark, inflict wounds
3rd: gentle repose, phantasmal force
5th: life transference, phantom steed
7th: greater invisibility, mordenkainen's faithful hound
9th: enervation, reincarnate
I Just Love The Smell Of Fear
At 1st level, your patron emboldens you at the familiar sight of someone being terrified to die. When you deal damage to an enemy who is frightened of you within 15 ft using a 1st level or higher spell, you can add your proficiency bonus to the damage.
Hasta La Muerte
At 6th level, you welcome the inevitability of Death, allowing you to partially let go of your life to act one last time. While you are at 0 hitpoints, Before making a death saving throw, you can cast a spell on a creature other than you on your turn. When you do so, you suffer one failed death save.
I Welcome Your Defiance
At 10th level, the power of the Great Equalizer lets you spread Her icy embrace to all your allies, weakening its coldness. When an ally within 30 ft of you fails a death save, you can use your reaction to transfer the failed save to another willing creature within 30 ft of you.
The willing creature remains conscious if they still have remaining hitpoints, but die instantly once they receive their third failed save, no matter their remaining hitpoints. You can only transfer one failed save per reaction.
Waiting At The End Of Every Story
At 14th level, you learn to salvage the raw potential of a life meeting a brutal, early end. When you kill a spellcasting creature, you gain a temporary spell slot of half the level of the spellcaster's highest unexpended spell slot (rounded up).
If you haven't used the temporary spell slot by the end of your next turn, its unstable magical power unravels, dealing you 1d8 necrotic damage per spell level. This damage cannot be reduced in any way.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you complete a long rest.

Dungeons and Dads! Warlock part two: if your dad was the patron! For this one, it varies on how it happened or how you found out.
Archfey? Your dad taught you how to be a lawyer. And a rules lawyer.
Celestial? Dad taught you the ways of god. Specifically, the ways used by the Spanish Inquisition.
Fathomless? Your dad taught you how to fish and gave you his lucky fishing rod.
Fiend? Dad brought you to the cult meeting.
Genie? Your dad spoils you rotten. He loves you very much.
Great Old One? Dad teaches you. About everything. You must know all.
Hexblade? Dad taught you how to duel!
Undead? You’re not actually sure. You seem different from others. You feel a resemblance to the deceased. You’re not sure why or when this happened, but there was that one time when you were hit by a car, but dad assures you that you were just in a coma. After you woke up, eventually you found quite a few books about the occult in your dad’s room.

Pact Boon: The Chalice
While Warlock subclasses tend to primarily focus on theming, pact boons tend more towards the mechanical side of things, informing the general playstyle of a character. The Pact of the Chalice offers warlocks aside from the Celestial a variety of ways to support teammates, with health restoration, status cleansing, damage mitigation, and spell restoration.
I'd like to thank my players for giving me the inspiration to make this happen. Without them, the world would never have had the opportunity to consume this chalice.
Links will be in the reblogs, as usual. Only Homebrewery and Google Drive - DNDBeyond doesn't support homebrew pact boons.

This all started (my homebrew journey) because of this guy and one other guy lol. My friend has a podcast and we all decided to bring one homebrew creation to the table and now I'm many homebrew deep.
Anyway, this is inspired by Fallen Angels and their desire to return to heaven, with some options for what your Fallen Angel patron might be like/what their motives might be!

Remnants of a Stash (Warlock 2/5)
Surprised we didn’t get something like this in Fizban’s, so I made it myself! Draw upon your inner dragon and get a patron that probably won’t wanna eat you.

Subclasseptember 2023, Day 22 - Eye Tyrant Warlock
Pay no attention to the giant eye behind the subclass.
A Warlock whose patron is a monster was a no-brainer, especially one like a beholder. Another option I had was a Tarrasque Barbarian; maybe next time.
The name of the game was features the replicate the vibe of a beholder as best as I can. So cool eye rays on top of Eldritch Blast, an always-awake sentry, and the capstone being an antimagic cone.

Pact of the Monarch
Have you ever wanted a different sort of patron for your warlock character? Have you wanted a sturdier warlock? Look no further! The Pact of the Monarch has you drawing your magical abilities from a powerful liege. This is the part of the Paradox Pack, a set of subclasses that subverts expectations. If you want to see the other two and much more content, consider paying my Patreon a visit!
EDIT: Aloofness was reworded to what it was supposed to be.

Warlock, with the intonation of a motivational speech: Anyone can be a villain!
Warlock: The capacity for evil lives inside everyone, and the fight against it is a battle people can lose! If someone does not constantly put the work in to be good, they CAN become evil without even noticing it!

the last line of this post got me thinking about dnd-ifying tortall (i know about the tortall rpg but here im thinking specifically about dungeons and dragons 5e)
Kel is certainly a paladin. Aly is a rogue no question. Daine is probably a wildshape druid with some sort of archery feat/outlander background.
Alanna is giving me trouble, though. She's both a fighter and a mage, and very adept at both. I guess in order, her fighting improvement happens before spellcasting improvement. It's feeling very cleric, but that's certainly not the type of character Alanna is. The descriptions of her magic, though, are pretty close to sorcerer, but that doesn't seem right either.
Any ideas?

Otherworldly Patron: The Absolute | Become a thrall… erm true soul of Baldur's Gate 3's absolute
Tumblr media
PDFs of this and more can be found over on at my Patreon here!
Welcome to 'Inexorable' and what could be any more unstoppable than something which is absolute… ignoring the fact that the absolute is capable of being defeated. But yeah, become a true soul and expand your mind
Expanded Mind
Just the basics, by psychic and cast spells with your mind changing the spellcasting stat because it felt on brand.
Authority
The narrator saying "Authority" has been branded into my mind, I couldn't not add it. I did have to generalise it since I can't mechanically guarantee branded cultists. In the end, this is somewhere in between suggestion and command. It is, however, not a charm effect, so feel free to do terrible things to elves. And if you wonder why I let you harm people with it… fight the gnolls and get back to me.
Absorb Intellect
This was one of the illithid powers you can unlock, but since this isn't a video game, I can't just give you free healing. So instead, some risk reward. The higher the int of the target, the juicier the brain, but the more likely they are to resist this effect
Detect Intellect
This is a power from the elder brain in 5e, except not up to a mile. So I broaden you mind a little further
Psionic Transportation
The fly power is something you get if you choose to absorb the astral touched tadpole, so I made it the capstone
Exalted Mind
I like the idea of your otherworldly patron making you capable of expanding past your mortal limits, this doesn't actually increase you intelligence, but it does make it possible
Far Reaching Intellect
People like more range, right?
I will not be Denied!
I always like the idea of messing with creature type restrictions. And most undead and constructs are controlled anyway, so why not?
Psionic Backlash
This is based on two powers from baldur's gate, mushed together.
Psionic Barrier
Psychic shield instead of force shield. Seemed neat.
Psionic Passenger
Why not treat your mind controlled thrall like a familiar
Mind Blast
Yet another power, except as a spell, so I could scale it like one :)
And now to plug my stuff. I release homebrews weekly over on my Patreon. Anyone who pledges $1 or more per post don't have to wait a month to see them, and also help fund my being alive habit.
At the moment, they have exclusive access to the following:
Martial Archetype: Knight of the Fallen Oak
Words of Power
Maelstrom Hammer
Sealing Rituals
I also have three classes, and a splatbook over on DriveThrueRPG to check out:
The Rift Binder. A class specialising in summoning monsters and controlling the battlefield.
The Witch Knight. A class that combines swords and sorcery in the most literal way.
The Werebeast. A class that turns you into a half beast to destroy your foes.
d'Artagnan's Adventurer Almanac. A compendium of races, subclasses, feats, spells, monsters and more!

This warlock patron is called a Trickster. A Trickster is a powerful otherwordly entity: resourceful, cunning, prone to mischief, manipulative, and deceitful. A Trickster upsets rules and conventions, delighting in pushing boundaries to further their goals.
Tricksters occupy a wonderful and delightful place in mythologies and folklore across all of human cultures, and I think that because often they are powerful with magic abilities, but often not gods, they make perfect Warlock patrons.
This warlock subclass is very unique, mixing abilities similar to a druid (shapechanging), divination wizard (changing rolls), and the rune knight (making others the targets of your attacks).
