Y'all. My roommate has Disney+ that I sometimes watch stuff on.

They had a pride section.

A pitiful pride section.

That included Gravity Falls.

The show that Alex Hirsch had to fight tooth and nail for representation for and was denied.

Is now in the pride section for Disney to say "we're not biggots" one month a year.

I'm literally so tired of this.

And yet so proud of the shows that did get the representation they fought so hard for.

The Owl House created by Dana Terrace has the most representation I've ever seen in a kids cartoon by Disney and it got cut short in the third season.

Disney is the epitome of commercialized pride, steeped in corporate greed and so desperate for ratings they'll do whatever they think people want to seem wholesome when really it's just evil.

Happy 1-year anniversary to Watching and Dreaming!! I cannot believe this show has been over for a year now, and I honestly wish it would've gone on longer. I love this show so much. Random rant because I love this movie

Disney was on something when they made this. idk what but it was something and it must've been good if they were able to make one of my favorite movies of all time(and I fucking hate most/almost all Disney movies.)

Disney itself back in the day was pretty bad(and still is ngl) but a lot of the movies besides the princess ones were pretty good depending on the story. Idk maybe I'm picky about movies and shit but Atlantis: The Lost Empire was a good fucking movie

The sequel? Not needed, pretty sure no one asked for it, but also pretty good. The story was pretty good and the animation was just as good as the first movie

It's been a couple years since I've watched either movies but goddammit I've always loved this movie specifically

I hate/very much dislike disney for many many reasons but the fucking movie was just a masterpiece

I am a student of International Relations and last semester I did a whole research paper on Mexican cultural diplomacy, while researching, I realized that one of the main problems for Mexican foreign policy is the international image they have of us, Mexicans, and our culture.

Many people think that we are a stereotype, an offensive caricature and that it is okay to make fun of mexicans and our culture. And obviously that's wrong, so wrong. And it truly affect us, not just individually but as a country.

We deserve better.

So yeah, I'm angry about "Oye primos" because perpetuates offensive stereotypes and blantly mocks us.

And no, my problem is not about one of the characters being named "Cuquita". That was my great grandma's name, dude. It's the nickname for women called María del Refugio and everyone called her that, not a common name in current times, but it exists (in most places in Mexico Cuca or Cuquita doesn't mean pussy)

My problem is that they present mexicans as ugly, stupid, dirty (cause dude, the house is so fucking dirty and neglected) and lazy. And we are not any of that.

I was born, raised and currently live in Mexico and I know my people ain't ugly or stupid or dirty or lazy. I know a lot of people that get up at 5 am to work and it's not cause it's 💫trendy💫 and dude if you're mexa you know that we clean like crazy and really take care of our homes. And people here are so beautiful and kind and smart and talented, but we don't have as many opportunities.

And terremotos are not a joke, they're tragedies and are truly traumatic. My best friend lives in cdmx and earthquakes have her constantly anxious and scared for her life.

And if we, Mexicans, are criticised and mocked for not speaking english perfectly... Entonces hablen español BIEN en sus series y películas (cause dude, coco is a whole other issue) sobre mexicanes y latinx, no?

Ni perfecto se les pide, porque sabemos que es un pedo hablar español, pero vaya, mínimo un "Oigan primos" / "Oye primo".

Pero qué cosas, no?

Reverse-Reverse! #1: "Tangled"

Y'all, I LOVE the movie "Tangled". I mean, Disney is the best. Who wouldn't love a movie about an old lady kidnapping a child and gaslighting her? And then, one day an older man breaks into this teenager's home and takes her to a tavern filled with old murderers and thugs, who dance with her and touch her hair.

Later on, when Eugene's trying to be all sweet and better, he gets knocked out and shipped to jail to be hanged, while Rapunzel is chased after by two men. The men try to put a bag over her head and kidnap her, so they can sell her off. Seriously, human trafficking!

Then Mother Gothel goes medieval and puts some heavy-duty CHAINS and cuffs on Rapunzel, which she was just storing in the back room in case of emergency. And we can't forget about the cloth around Rapunzel's mouth.

The mother who knows best attempts to murder her daughter's bf of less than 48 hours. All stabby, and chaining him up for good measure.

And honestly, the worst part, was when Mother Gothel kicked Pascal. Like seriously, animal cruelty. At least he gets revenge when he pretty much murders her by making her trip and fall off the 40' tower.
