Season 4 Dean Winchester Headcanons
Lazarus Rising- Having a reunion with Dean after hell. You wouldn't believe it's him at first but after reassurance from Bobby and Sam you’d run into each other's arms. He'd be holding back tears while holding you like he needed you to breathe, and THE KISS? The kiss is magical and mixed with tears because you just can't believe you got the love of your life back. The relief you both feel is top tier. “Don't worry baby i got you” But really you'd have him and you know this is the start of a hard road of recovery for him.
Are you there God? It's me Dean Winchester- comforting and reassuring him after his fight with the ghosts of Meg and Hendrikson. Slowly running your hands through his hair and singing his praises because he deserves that.
Monster Movie- You’d accompany the boys on this case and actually be the one to get taken by the “vampire”. Once Dean fights to get you back safe you'd laugh at the shifter together after everything is said and done and just be in awe of your lives and the things that happen.
Yellow Fever- You'd also be on this case with the boys. You'd comfort Dean about his ghost sickness and promise to keep him safe from any angsty teenagers that come your way. He really believes you and clings to you for any comfort he can get. You and Sam do the heavy lifting on the case, sharing the load of your worries about Dean together. You can't help but giggle a little when he gets scared of the cat jumping out of the storage thing. Vowing to tease him for it later, and you do when he's okay. “I had freaking ghost sickness okay?! Let that cat try it now and see how little I care…” he'd say.
Wishful Thinking- He wishes for you to be right there with him which results in the sudden urge for you to drive for hours to get to him. The downside of the curse is that you were not happy about the drive or being mind controlled by a coin so you're livid when you show up. Of course when the curse is broken you both laugh at the whole thing together and needless to say he’ll do ANYTHING to make it up to you;)
The Monster at the End of This Book- You’re shocked to learn that you and your boyfriend are full frontal in a book “youve got to be kidding me” was all you could say. You'd be even more shocked to learn that you have fans and they are “shipping” you and Dean. You'd be grossed out to find out that people also “ship” you and Sam. “Ewww” you'd both let out in unison. “Yeah it better be eww” Dean would huff out in disgust with an added eye roll. Dean would secretly re read the chapters where it talks about your feelings towards him, he secretly loves that its written by a prophet how much you love and care for him. It's a huge reassurance.
When the Levee Breaks- You help him try to detox Sam and are there to calm him down when he's alone. He doesn't tell you that he gave himself over to the angels wanting to enjoy his last moments with you. You constantly have a hand on him and just hold him through the whole Sam demon blood detox telling him it's going to be okay no matter what happens.
Lucifer Rising- You're on Dean's side with the whole Ruby thing of course, you always saw through her and got the feeling she was just trying to manipulate Sam for some reason. You were with Bobby when Dean was teleported to the angels and you both were freaking out knowing there was nothing you guys could do. You sat with him panicked, waiting on any signs of life from either of them. Cas pops in to reassure you guys that Dean is somewhere safe which does nothing for the both of you and you freak out telling him to bring him back which then Cas just vanishes with no answers. Eventually Sam and Dean turn up pretty beat up. You're beyond pissed at Sam when you hear the whole story. You're beyond worried when you hear Dean say the devil is out and it's their problem.

I think that Dean and Cas' story is truly a love story. From beginning to end, we see endless little storylines and director choices and writing choices and actor choices, we see their bond builds and builds and breaks and builds again and they ultimately have some of the most epic quotes spoken to them or by them, their story to it's core is a story about love, and how It can change even the most heartless of beings. It is also a story of so many beautiful mergings, between heaven and earth, angel and human, we see two supposed opposite beings literally fall in love infinite times over while trying to save each other again and again, and in so many ways, not always good ways, but all in good intention.
An angel of the lord saves the righteous man from hell. This is where they start. And then he continues trying to explain to him why he deserves to be saved. Why he will do it time and time again. And so he does.
They go to purgatory together, and the whole time they are there their whole mission is trying to save one another, even if it meant sacrificing oneself, because the other one is too important for them to lose, to imagine a life without, to deprive them of continuing to live like they deserve.
They always tried to keep the other one safe and close, without knowing truly why that is what they wanted.
The angel rebelled for the human. He kept doing everything for him, and the human did everything for the angel, trusted him, made him his family, and taught him what family truly meant.
They were each other soulmates, which was confusing and took some time for the angel to comprehend since he never had a soul to begin with. Maybe the human made him grow a soul, even if only figuratively, but either way, he couldn't deny the truth once it set in; it was the love he had for this human that changed him, changed everything, the entire course of the universe.
So yeah, Castiel, Angel of the Lord, Celestial being of Heaven and the Divine, let his love change him. And he became other things, like Cas and Huggy Bear and Sunshine. He let the heaven in him fall in love with the earth and never came back to the heartless soulless being he once was. He loved now and was in love, and it was so much it was enough to make him happy.
And Dean loved Cas. He loved him a lot. He saw praying as begging but only prayed to Cas. Only begged Cas to see him and understand he needs him, because love is too big a word, or too small, or too hard to let out of his throat. He let himself be hurt by Cas both physically and emotionally because as much as Cas cared for him, there were times he did not know the best ways to show it. He trusted him time and time again and gave him the benefit of the doubt until he couldn't find it in him anymore to hold against his own anger and lost it. Lost his angel to his anger while he froze in place. But he woke up in time, and prayed again to his angel to come to him, to save himself, because he loved him, he loved him so much that he let his anger die and let himself cry for his love. And Cas came to him and heard his prayer, but not the love that was too scared to be set free.
And then it was time. It was time for Cas to save Dean one last time, and the only way he could do that was by confessing his love and being happy and then abruptly being taken away forever. And he shared it all, everything they never talked about so openly before but always fucking felt and knew was there. Because not only he always loved Dean, he always really saw him, saw it all, and knew it all, but understood better than anyone that this Righteous Man did everything for love and out of love. Cas not only fell in love with the earth or with a human but with the most human aspect of this world, which was love. Dean was love incarnate, and Cas was always in Awe of him
So they loved and loved and lost each other, and it hurt like hell to think they would never have their happy ending.
But Dean and Cas had a fan base. A full on Fandom of people who loved them truly and wanted them to have a happy ending. And the writers aren't the only ones who matter in this story. We changed them too.
In my eyes, and I'm sure that in many of yours as well, Dean and Cas are happy and alive. They are together and in love, like they have always wanted to be, like they deserved to be. And it is good, and sweet, and safe, and sound.

Happy Dean Winchester's 45th birthday week, and happy Friday! I was absolutely blown away by everyone's incredible posts for Dean this week, you guys. It made me all emotional.
Back with my fourth week of fics I've read and loved recently. If you missed last week’s you can find my previous rec lists here for more!

american oracle by @handsliketruth and whiskeyjuniper (@satinsolace) I spent all last Sunday reading this one and it was such an immersive experience! An earthquake shakes something loose in the bunker, seemingly trapping Dean, Cas and Sam inside with it as they attempt to fix what's gone wrong, only the bunker isn't going to make it easy for them! Super creepy, twisty, reality bending and really beautifully, unsettlingly written. Whatever's happened is messing with their minds, and the creeping horror of real or not real persists, but even through that the Dean and Cas of it are really fascinating in how they navigate their intense feelings for each other. I was also incredibly impressed with how the effects of canon wrapping up were woven into the plot in such a powerfully potent way, exploring fate, free will, and the future. Really a stand out (and I know a lot of you have been reading it because I found this fic open in no less than three separate tabs in my bookmarks when I came to read it myself. So adding one more rec to the pile!)
Slouching Towards Bethlehem by @norahastuff (art by @logsdrawsthings) is a brilliant and seamlessly written missing conversations DCBB fic set in seasons 4 and 5. The dialogue is so on point for that era Dean and Cas, at times I had to remind myself what came from the show and what was brand new. As they navigate their way towards the apocalypse, and Cas watches over Dean in reality and in dreams, it seems hard to find solace. But in getting to know one another better, they both question their parts in the grand plan, and also find peace, connection, and company in their deepening bond.
A Fic About Dean’s 45th Birthday by @scoobydoodean both does exactly what it says on the tin AND made me cry lol. After Mrs Butters plants the seed in his head that he's too old to celebrate his birthday, Dean gets a little upset, but he doesn't let on to anyone. The poor man just wants to be appreciated and celebrated on his birthday! But he feels guilty about causing a fuss, and anyway, he can still show his love through making sure everyone else's days are marked for the occasion. But on his 45th, his family is acting a little suspicious, and they seem to want him to stay away. Angsty, sweet, give that man his krispy treats!!!! Check out Dean with Scoobies.
found it here in your love by nevernevergirl (@yorkesteins) is another Dean's birthday ficlet, but taking a 180 spin on it. Cas has plans. LOTS of plans. Dean deserves to be celebrated. But some pesky snow has derailed Cas' thoughtfulness, and despite his best intentions he's awfully upset about letting Dean down. "In which learning to live your life after nearly two decades of saving the actual world is a process. They're doing it together, though." Sweet, domestic, heartwarming love (even when there's a tantrum involved.)

i know game of thrones will go down as one of the worst endings of all time, but as i rewatch supernatural...it's hard for me to see anything more heartbreaking than this
on the one hand, i believe in the fact that writers have to tell their story. on the other hand, i think when you have a show going on for this long, it also belongs to the actors, it also belongs to the fans. and i think just objectively, what a fucking disservice to cas and dean.
this isn't even about deancas (which yes, to me, they are the greatest love story ever told). but forget them as endgame. just. cas dying for the love of his life, because the deal was that when he let himself be happy, he would be killed. dean being killed in the most ridiculous, dumbest, stupidest damn way imaginable, and then we don't even get the payoff of seeing him and cas reunite in heaven.
all that pain, all that loss, all that heartbreak, to watch an angel who risked it all for a man die, and then for that man who just wanted to be happy and be with sam and cas, to be happy and normal, had to die. he never got peace in life, he never got peace in knowing that he could just live. he was so happy and full of wonder and joy and life, and could not live.
we spent fifteen years listening to dean pushing away his trauma, and after saving the world, really saving it, after losing one of the people he loves most of the world - he dies, and we just have to tell ourselves that sure, he and cas are hanging out in heaven together.
anyway, dean winchester and castiel deserved better. they deserved to live, and to love.

dreamy drabble day 1: dream
—
“you’re living the dream, man.” sam slapped dean on the shoulder before joining eileen in the car and starting the engine.
cas wrapped his arm around dean’s waist as they watched them drive down the dirt road away from the lakehouse.
“was this your dream?” cas asked.
“hm?”
“when you were younger. did you dream about a life like this?”
he watched dean’s eyes glance up towards their home, and run across the garden that they’d built together. his arm tightened around cas’s shoulder.
“honestly? it wasn’t something i ever thought about. i just knew it would never happen for me. i saw dad and i just… i figured hunting was all i’d ever be good for.”
cas turned in dean’s arm so he could face him. “you know that’s not true.”
dean’s eyes crinkled at the edges. “i do now, angel.” taking cas’s face in his hands he pressed a soft kiss to his lips. “thank you for showing me how much more i could be.”
cas shook his head affectionately. “you were always more than you could see. you deserve this, dean. you deserve to be happy.”
eyes shining, dean leaned his forehead against cas’s. “so do you. i’m so glad you’re here.”
“there’s nowhere else i’d rather be.”

Destiel fic recs
Well, it looks like the brainrot is permanent and there is no cure. I can't seem to get enough of these dudes. Please enjoy the fruits of my unending obsession with another rec list.
Love Bites by @malmuses (Explicit, 34k)
I don't know why I love a tiny creature Dean, but this fic had my entire heart from the first chapter. Not since OctopusDean said bloop has a Dean been this adorable.
Dean, a vampire in bat form, gets injured by Cas' menace of a cat (affectionate). Cas nurses him back to health and, as Dean heals, he finds himself more and more enamored with his savior.
Cas is delightfully awkward and Dean is entirely smitten and it makes for an adorably soft dynamic. Plus I want to put bat!Dean in my pocket. He’s so cute.
Boyfriend of Thursday by mnwood @deancasheadcanons (Explicit, 40k)
Look all I'm saying is Dean deserved to be a little slutty (affectionate). This one is a romp and a delight. Dean Winchester doesn't do monogamy or commitment. Instead he has a regular hook-up every day of the week.
But when he and his Thursday call it quits, he's looking to fill the open position. It feels like he's in luck when he runs into a hot dude at Chipotle. But Dean discovers that maybe his Boyfriend of Thursday is worth breaking the rules for.
I love an openly bi, confident Dean and this Dean definitely fits the bill. This Dean is really fun and in some ways very vulnerable and he is deeply respectful of his hookups which makes it a great read. This one could have gone the other way, making him shallow and capricious, but despite his rules and his rigid system, Dean deeply cares and that makes it really fun to read.
The side characters are fantastic, plus there is positive representation of polyamory and some really interesting casting that makes this one super entertaining.
Passing Ships by quiettewandering (Mature, 78k)
Something about Dean and Cas going against fate to be with one another has always made me a little feral, so it's no surprise that a fic based on the concept that Cas, a cupid assigned to get Dean together with his soulmate Lisa, fails spectacularly when he falls in love with Dean himself would immediately draw me in.
The Cas in this fic wants so badly to do what's right, but he can't help but care about the humans. He hits all the right notes for me and i had at least ten breakdowns over him. And Dean is also just so enamored and such a disaster and you just wanna smoosh their faces.
I Can See Your Halo by redamber79 @imbiowaresbitch (series, 2 works, Explicit, 9.8k words)
This one is s-p-i-c-y and just a bit sacrilegious in the best way. Um, let's just say the author explores some novel uses for the angel blade and Cas' halo that will live inside my brain rent free for a very long time. Ahem
It also serves as a fairly delightful fix-it with a really fun resolution that will also have a condo in my mind.
It's scorching hot and a really fun read.
In It For The Long Haul by @ltleflrt (Explicit 25k)
This is the fluffiest, softest fic to soothe what ails you. Dean, a long-haul trucker, meets an intriguing waiter at a truck stop and starts reordering his life to find ways to see him again.
This fic is just pure sunshine. Cas keeps choosing meals to make Dean happy. Dean keeps blushing and flirting. The angst is low. It's really just a good time for everyone. A soft story about liminal spaces and finding someone to share your life with.
Racing Stripes by tiamatv (Mature, 37k)
I'm admittedly a sucker for a sci fi AU, but even if I wasn't I would still love this absolute gem of a story. Dean is one of the top racers in the world, finally about to live out his dream of racing in the difficult and high stakes Chicago Race. Unfortunately for him, revisiting Chicago also sets him on a crash course with the love of his life, Cas, who left him years ago for the promise of an education and a future, and even worse, Cas' dad who is dangling the same for Sammy in front of Dean’s nose.
The worldbuilding in this fic is immaculate. An abandoned and rotting Chicago is almost it's own character, and there is a quiet desperation in the story of people who have become beholden to corporations to survive. The action sequences are also gorgeous with the pivotal race being so cinematic I felt like I could see every twist and turn. And don't get me started on the gorgeous weaving of canon into the fic. It was so clever.
But the standout for me is the gentleness in Dean’s characterization. The way he wants so badly to do what's best. The way he longs for Cas. There is just something gorgeous about Racing Stripes Dean that made me want everything good for him.
Listen, I tell you a mystery by bathilda bagshot (wellthengameover) @the-lions-mouth (Teen, 25k)
Thee Dean and Mary parallel dissertation, this character study has everything. Mary trying to conform to cisheteronormative ideals while feeling the pull of hunting and a particular redheaded angel. Teenage and Stanford Era Dean to tear your heart out. Dean and Mary finding something of each other. And a happy ending for Dean and Cas.
It's told in snippets. Vignettes that delve into trauma and hope. They build an absolutely beautiful parallel story, gorgeous for their intersections and the places they diverge.
And there is a gentleness to it all. We see Mary and Dean in various states of distress and desperation. We see the effects of the cupids bow and poverty and loneliness and completely fuckery. But there is never any judgment, just kindness in the way they are written.
This one made me cry real human tears and it's definitely one that will haunt me.
A Judicious Application of Free Will by Annie D (scaramouche) @no-gorms (Explicit, 57k)
This is an older fic, but I swear Annie D has such a good grasp on Dean and Cas (or is possibly psychic) that there are elements that will make you swear it was written post canon. This one is hard to describe because it ends up with some gorgeous narrative twists that I don't want to give away. Suffice to say: Dean meets a handsome recluse, Cas, whose past threatens to engulf them.
It's twisty and ambitious, with so much heart. Canon is woven in to the story in unexpected ways and it's ultimately one of those fics that you don't want to put down.

Summary: Cas has been getting progressively worried about Dean’s drinking for a while but mentioning it only causes tension in their marriage. The sudden death of Dean’s father brings everything to the breaking point. After a particularly bad fight, his husband seeks solace in whiskey and flirty women in the aftermath. When Cas finds out, he decides he’s had his fill, packs his bags, and leaves.
Sam lives in California and has built a career as a well respected addictions counselor. When Cas calls to tell him that Dean is missing on a bender and their marriage is likely over, he drops everything to come to Kansas to find his brother.
Dean clearly needs help. Sam convinces him to go with him to California and go through a rehab program. Dean only agrees because Cas refuses to have anything to do with him unless he stops drinking permanently. If he can't, their marriage is finished.
Along the way, Sam and Dean discover that their father left them with more than just painful memories of a traumatic childhood. Their half-brother Adam might be exactly who they need to help pull all the fractured pieces together. Cas is giving Dean one last chance to turn things around. Nothing is easy, but maybe it’s still worth fighting for.
Excerpt: “You know the only difference that would have made was that you would be as miserable as he was.” Cas grabbed both of their toothbrushes and toothpaste from the ensuite bathroom, tossing Dean’s his way.
“I could’ve tried harder to get him to quit, go to rehab or something.” The toiletries went in the bag with some deodorant, a flannel, and some denim. He shot Cas a dirty look when he heard him huff in exasperation.
“How many times did you ask him to quit? Remember when Sam flew in for an intervention? He’s a professional addictions counselor and the only thing that happened was that Sam flew home with a black eye and a refusal to ever come back.”
“That’s just because they’re too much alike and can’t stop themselves from fighting.” Dean was starting to raise his voice. Cas wasn’t having any of it.
“No,” he knew he sounded snarky as shit but was so very tired of having the same argument about John Winchester’s parenting skills. “It’s because your father is a narcissistic asshole with undiagnosed mental health issues that he self-medicates with whiskey.”
Dean walked around the bed to where Cas was and grabbed his arm. The grip wasn’t rough but it wasn’t gentle either. His green eyes were anguished and pleading.
“Don’t say that, he could be dying right now.”
Somewhere deep down Cas knew he should be feeling guilty about just how little empathy he had for John right then. He’d feel more compassion for a complete stranger than he did for the man who had hurt Dean again and again, both as a child and as an adult. He felt a small flash of resentment at having to defend Dean from his own negative thinking. “It was always going to be this way with him, Dean. Every counselor you’ve ever had has told you the same thing for years. You are not responsible for fixing him. Don’t kill yourself trying to be accepted by someone who doesn’t even deserve you.”

Suptober 2023 - Inspired
Dean and Castiel stand together in the dimly lit bunker, their eyes locked in a silent exchange of emotion that has remained unspoken for far too long. The weight of the world outside currently rests heavily on their shoulders, but at this moment, it is just the two of them.
Dean clears his throat, his voice rough with vulnerability. "Cas, there's something I've been wanting to tell you, and what with fucking Death pounding to get past that door, I guess it’s inspired me to tell you before it’s too late."
Castiel turns his head slightly, his piercing blue eyes searching Dean's. "What is it, Dean?"
Inhaling a deep breath, Dean takes a step closer to Castiel. "I... I don't know how to say this, all pretty and how you deserve to be told, but I realize something. Something I should've realized a long time ago."
Castiel's brow furrows in both hope and fear, but he remains silent, waiting for Dean to continue.
"I love you, Cas," Dean confesses, his voice barely above a whisper. "I love you more than I've ever loved anyone or anything."
Castiel's eyes widen, and for a moment, Dean fears he’s made a terrible mistake. But then, a small, almost imperceptibly sad smile tugs at the corner of Castiel's lips. "Dean," he says softly, "I love you too."
The tension that has built up between them for years dissipates in an instant. Dean closes the gap between them without another word, capturing Castiel's lips in a gentle yet passionate kiss. It's a kiss that speaks of years of longing, battles fought side by side, and a connection written by God himself.
As they pull away, Dean rests his forehead against Castiel's, their breaths mingling in the cool, stale air of the bunker. "I don't care what comes next," Dean whispers, gesturing at the pounding at the bunker door. "As long as I have you, I'll be ok in this life or another."
Castiel smiles, a tear glistening in the corner of his eye. "It's you and me, Dean. It always has been, but I made a deal with the Empty to save Jack. The deal was that it would take me when I felt true happiness. Your declaration of love has made me happier than I ever thought possible. I'm so sorry, Dean."
At that moment, Death breaks through the door as the Empty oozes through the bunker wall and swallows her up. With lightning speed, Dean reaches for his pocket knife and slices Cas along the neck. The Angel's grace flows from the wound and dissipates through the portal opened by the Empty.
Both men freeze as the Empty surrounds Cas' body, only to slither away, dissatisfied, back through the portal, leaving Cas unharmed.
Both men stare into the now-closed portal in disbelief. Dean speaks first:
“Cas, I'm sorry I had no right to take your grace, but there wasn't time to ask questions, and Angel, I can't live without you. Can you forgive me?”
“Dean, I would choose you in any scenario, in any circumstance, in any universe. Human or Angel, it doesn't matter as long as I can love you.”
Dean cries into Cas’ shoulder while Cas runs his hands down the hunter’s back.
"It's ok, Dean. It's over. We win."
And so, amid a world filled with monsters and a vengeful, punishing God, Dean Winchester and Castiel find peace in each other's arms.

Your question got me thinking, though. First, I'm realizing I need to do a full series rewatch because I know there are destiel moments I can't think of right now while I sit here Cas-squinting at my screen. And honestly, I haven't watched the show since it ended, so my recall ain't so great at this point. However, there is one exception to that, which actually leads me to my answer--
My hands-down, favorite destiel moment/episode has gotta be Tombstone. It's the kind of domestic, wholesome destiel content that I live for. Seeing Dean come so abruptly out of his crippling depression to play cowboys with his best friend, grumpily ask Cas to make him coffee, Cas lovingly doing it then waiting for him to drink it in his most impatiently patient "I love this asshole so much what is wrong with me" kind of way, only to then sit in the car together talking about one of Dean's favorite movies where Cas then quotes Doc Holliday's most memorable lines, nearly giving Dean an aneurysm is, quite simply, perfection. I could live in that sequence forever (and sometimes I try to!). Not to mention the heavy Romeo and Juliet Star-crossed lovers imagery bringing us in at the start of the episode.
It stands as the only full episode I've watched post-series, and I do put it on quite often. (Is that weird? Don't answer that.)
But, there are obviously gonna be otherDean/Cas moments that hit differently for different reasons and therefore are my favorite because of that variable X (Cas' beautiful confession, for example), but I feel pretty confident in saying my go-to happy place will always be Tombstone.

Now five years later, a little foray onto the internet to promote his shop leads Dean to a very interesting corner of Tumblr, and a mysterious online friend who only knows Dean as his #Fiance Anon. What happens after more than a year of increasingly fond anonymous correspondence?
This is one of my all time favorite AUs because of the author’s fun and familiar incorporation of Tumblr and their brilliant characterizations of everyone and the incredibly witty banter that had me giggling throughout their story. We vividly see Dean’s and Cas’ characteristic self-doubt from Dean’s point of view that has them pining anonymously on Tumblr for a year and correspondingly tugs at our heartstrings and wish that we could lock them in a room together. I really enjoyed reading Sam’s big brain at work, and although he is a bit too prying, it was amusing and sometimes comical how he enlists their found family on a project to bring personal happiness to his older brother by sussing out Dean’s anonymous crush. The interactions between Dean’s found family are playful and thoroughly help to flesh out the story while offering us some comic relief amidst the mutual pining. Readers will adore the Cas and Charlie dynamic, as well. I also love the immediate profound bond Dean and Cas felt for each other even though they didn’t meet in person. It’s through these anonymous Tumblr communications that give them a safe environment to be more revealing about themselves to each other than to the people in their own lives.
The author’s style of writing is always so comforting and leaves me in a state of joy by the last chapter. Even though Project Beyonce is filled with fluff and humor, this story is also about Dean and Cas saving each other from a life that isn’t quite fulfilled and believing they are worthy and deserve happiness, especially with each other. Readers will definitely be invested in our boys’ journey, and luckily for us, the author has created this into a Tumblr Anonymous series with more stories and timestamps, so you will surely become very attached and fall in love with this Dean and Cas!

Happy 15th anniversary to Cas's first appearance and to his first meeting with Dean
15 years ago, Cas met Dean and Dean met Cas, because Cas gripped Dean tight and raised him for perdition. Cas figured out quickly Dean didn’t think he deserved to be saved. And Dean didn’t think Cas was telling the truth when he said he was an angel. Cas thought Dean’s problem was that he had no faith. He told him good things do happen but Dean didn’t believe him.
But this morning, on the 18th September 2023, now that they defeated God years ago and are living together, they woke up together in their bed. Cas first, and he looked at Dean for a little while. Dean sensed Cas’s gaze on him and woke up, smiling. Cas smiled back and started to talk, resting on his left elbow and facing Dean.
“We met 15 years ago, Dean.”
“Hmm – I know.” Dean answered with his eyes still closed but turned his body to face Cas. They are both resting on their side, face to face. Cas instinctively puts his hand where Dean wore his handprint once.
“I’m an angel I saved you because you deserved it, and I’ll do it all over again.” Cas stated, laying a soft kiss on Dean’s forehead. Dean opened his eyes to look at those blues focused on him, and cuddled up against Cas. He rested his head on Cas’s chest and Cas surrounded him with his arms.
“I know, I’ve faith in you, Cas.“ Dean replied, laying a kiss on Cas’s heart, where he stabbed him 15 years ago. “You’re an angel,” Dean continued, kissing Cas’s neck, “my angel”, he whispered in Cas’s ear. Then, he positioned himself above Cas’s body and locked eyes with him before he added, “and good things do happen.” They both smiled and Dean captured Cas’s lips with a mix of tenderness, possessiveness and love.

So last year during @crowstielweek, I wrote a four-chapter Cas&Juliet friendship short fic in solidarity. It was not a submission, because the story took place after Crowley's death in the end of Season 12 (Cas grieved for him though).
But since then I reopened it, and now it's on chapter 31. Crowley has been resurrected. It's WIP but there are only a few chapters left.
Still not crowstiel though, just friendship and mutual support (I can't write ships).
cw: some of the chapters are very sad, including mentions of suicide and suicidal thoughts. But there will be a happy ending (which is not my typical style. I made an exception for Juliet).
Winchesters are the villains in this fic--though not 100%, more like villains out of prejudice rather than malice.
Heart of a Hellhound
Summary:
"Sam, Dean, we have been through much together. But if you come near Jack, I will kill you. Because he is my child."
Backdrop of this fic is a post Season 12 finale AU. Crowley died to trap Lucifer, but Cas made it out. He took Jack and got away from the Winchesters because, nothing had changed, the Winchesters wanted to remove Jack’s grace, and when that didn’t work out, wanted him dead. While on the run he encountered Juliet the hellhound who was grieving for Crowley. Cas, Juliet and Jack hid from the world in a remote cabin in the woods, but the world would not leave them alone. They dealt with Asomodeus, the angels, and another encounter with the Winchesters. They fought to live freely as who they were, and with the family they deserved.
