Daughter of Phantom, Lady Gotham.
I love Lady Gotham stuff in the DCxDP stories, like a lot, so what if, hear me out (Long post is long, I rambled again)
Lady Gotham is Danny's daughter.
How? How about Danny is hurt (his parents? GIW? Vlad?), like badly, to the point even his core is damaged and the time needed to heal would take years, like a lot of years. Like it was bad that even his Rogues were shocked and shaken. They eventually get him to the Realms but are unsure what to do next. So they're scrambling trying to figure out how to save him.
So when CW appeared he asked to handed the Core because he knows what to do, where to hide him so he can heal they don't question it, everyone in the Realms know CW, the Ancient of Time itself, has a soft spot for Phantom. He opens a portal to a different world, not Danny's he can't run the risk of GIW finding him, to a just beginning world, the new world will help speed up his healing, and with Frostbite's help they set up a healing chamber deep, deep in the ground. Once they made sure everything is set up and safe, they place his core inside the healing pod and return every so often to check on him.
Over time though, above on the surface of that world it's timeline starts. Animals, creatures, humans, aliens, magic users, etc etc begin and with it, because even as a half healing core, Danny's power and ectoplasm starts effecting the area he's resting in (Ghost King Danny? Young/New Ancient/Eldritch Being? Or just an OP Danny?) (Clockwork and even Frostbite showing up every so often doesn't help either, it explains why Gotham is so cold sometimes or why time seems... off)
Anyways due to Danny's power (along with bits of Clockwork and Frostbite), magic of this world, and people beginning to build a small town on top of the land it gives birth to the namesake of the town.
GOTHAM.
CW foresaw her 'birth' and finds her sitting in front of Danny's healing pod. He always knew Gotham would eventually form, the belief/love her people have in her would had given her a form eventually he just wasn't expecting her to form so soon (this is why Danny remains his favorite person, he always did something CW never really see's to often) nor was he expecting her to become Danny's daughter. Gotham looks a bit like Danny, dark hair, blue eyes, pointed ears, sharp teeth, glowing star like freckles, but she also reflects her people, the ones that call Gotham home so her image shifts sometimes. But he can see small hints of maybe himself and Frostbite in the shifts.
She is 100% Danny's daughter via spirit/ectoplasm. If anything CW and Frostbite are like many times removed family members when it comes down to ectoplasm.
She's silent for a moment before she asks if "You and the other come here often to see him... The one sleeping is he my father?" Which CW does confirm, he explains why Danny is healing and who he and Frostbite are and why they show up to make sure he is doing better. How his healing will take many, many years. She goes silent again before saying "Teach me how to protect him. I am new and young compared to others... and yet I already know if anyone desires him for the power he gives, they will stop at nothing. He is my father and I am his daughter, I need to keep him safe just how I know he would keep me safe. This much I know."
CW agrees.
She learns, from her father's allies (CW, Frostbite, Pandora, etc etc) how to defend and fight. How to protect what she loves. She watches over her father and fights off demon's, monsters, sometimes an alien that senses the slumbering power, evil magic users. Etc. She watches over the town and people who named her as well, falls in love with the humans who call her home as well and defends them as well.
She even gets the blunt force of a curse a powerful old entity that tired to place it on her father after she had just banished it from her lands. It's an old powerful curse that CW or Frostbite can't rid of because it would weaken her far to much that they run the risk of her fading, the only way to get rid of it is if she had a family member feeding her ectoplasim to help sustain her. (Her aunts can't because Jazz isn't ghostly enough and Danielle can't because hers is limited due to being a clone (like she has enough for herself but does need to visit the Infinite Realms during her travels to get more ectoplasim to filter in and out). Danny is their only chance because he's constantly filtering ectoplasim in and out and even creating it because of how he died with a portal opening up at the same time)
The curse slowly starts eating away at Gotham, makes it hard for her to have a solid corporeal form because pain (when she has to use this form to fight off others she has to bare through the pain), her appearance starts changing (eyes turn from sharp ice blue to glowing yellow, skin turns deathly sickly pale, her star freckles slowly blinking in and out, hands become inked claws, her dark hair is unkempt and spills like an oil sludge down her body and face) and because Danny is still healing himself he can't help her and she can't see him all too often anymore because she doesn't want to run the risk of the curse effecting his healing core, she does get updates from the other ghosts that visit him and then her. She still defends him though, outside of his healing chambers should on the rare chance something finds it way down to him.
Eventually due to Danny's and Gotham's natural ectoplasim filtering on the lands, visiting and powerful ghosts, Gotham fighting off powerful beings trying to use her father for power, and the curse on Gotham herself, the town that had been built on the ground above by humans becomes the very city we all know.
Its a whole mixed bag do to so many factors, that's why Gotham is the way it is.
Gotham does her best to keep her people safe from well... everything but due to the curse and the fighting off another person/entity/demon/magic user/etc coming for her father's power, she can't always do much by the time one crisis is over and a new one pops up, she's slowly breaking down the longer it takes.
That's why she has a soft spot for her Dark Knight and his family and allies, they help her from the pain from the curse by trying as both the Wayne's and as the Batclan to fix up her city self, its not enough to really fix her fully but it helps with the pain that eats at her.
She does her best to give them tiny blessings though, but due to her duty of protecting her father she can't always do much (she wept when news of Jason, her second Robin, her rough around the edges bookworm, had died came to her. She couldn't protect him because he was out of her reach. Its why when Joker returned she made it very hard for him to really gain his foothold in her again but had to stop because CW told her if she kept making it too hard for the clown he'd go running off to 'play' with a different hero and that... that timeline would lead the world to ruin. She begrudgingly stopped but when Joker had taken her third Robin, her tiny Tim the one she loved watching shadow her knights, she did everything she could to keep him sane from the pain he had been put in, and lead Batman to the warehouse to save him. Also it turns out her heartbreak over Jason's death, her curse acting up, and her ectoplasim sparking off at the same time it helped bring him back from his grave not fully but somewhat, she was so shocked that she didn't have time to send hints to Bruce to get him when he was taken by Talia and once again out of her reach. She tried hinting it to Bruce that Talia had taken him but by the time he would check on the League, Talia would had moved him)
Gotham, depsite being young in the eyes of many other powerful beings and entities has held her own and kept those that wanted to use her father for power packing. Despite being cursed that is slowly eating her alive she still holds onto the hope her father will awaken and she will finally get to meet him. (She hopes she made him proud, he is a protector spirit core after all and she had been steadfast with keeping him safe all these years).
Things however take a turn for the worse when Gotham awakens from some sort of powerful slumber (she doesn't know what happened?! Did something knock her out?! When did she fall asleep?! Was it magic? Did the curse do it? Did someone or something-) And discovers someone or something had managed to steal her father slumbering core. (So close to healing, so close to awakening according to Frostbite, just a few more days he says. Just. A. Few. More. Days)
She tries to go find him but is suddenly hurting more, her curse has progressed even worse, she can barely stand, let alone fight whoever had her father. And she knows her father's friends won't be back to see her until far later.
And then all of Gotham shakes and shudders when her rage, panic, and terror are felt that early morning.
-×-×-
Deep in the Batcave, Batman and the others are searching for whatever caused that strange almost magical but not (ectoplasm) shudder that morning.
They were expecting a full scale attack. Magical, alien, maybe even all the Rogues in Gotham working together. An all scaled war. They were looking for any signs of it, maybe to by some miracle stop it before it becomes to late.
They however weren't expecting a strange sick looking woman with yellow glowing eyes, oil ink like hair covering her face and body, clawed hands like they had dipped in ink as well, star like freckles blinking in and out on her body and face, sharp ears, breathing heavily and coughing every so often to appear in the cave. Like she had sunk out from the shadows in pure silence. (Even Cass did not hear her)
Nor were they expecting her not to even flinch when they trained their weapons onto her. Instead all she did was laugh, a raspy low laugh, but it held warmth and mirth.
"Now, now my knights... No need for that. I come needing help and you are the only ones I will ever trust with this mission..." her voice was soft but harsh, talking seemed to hurt her though for she had to take deep breaths and suppress a cough. Her eyes trailed across them all, despite her sickly look her eyes gleamed with a motherly warmth in a strange sense, something all of them could feel "I can not hold this corporal form for long. Long story short I am cursed, have been for a very long time and whatever happened to me earlier this morning has aggravated it even more and thus I can not stay in the world of the 'living' to do much. My father, the one I have been protecting since my creation from all sorts of terrible and dangerous things, for should they get a hold of him it could spell the end of life itself for he is that powerful, has been taken from his healing chamber. I do not know who or where but I know he still remains in the city, that much I can sense."
She coughed and took a shuddering breath "But alas I can not go to his aid as I once has been able to, this is where you all come in. I need you to find my father, find his core. Bring him to safety. I had fought so many to keep him safe, to make sure he heals in peace for so long, and he... So close. Just a few more days he needed... then I could had finally had met him."
She lightly muttered those last few words, eyes looking lost for a moment before coughing hard.
"Who are you." Batman, Bruce Wayne, stonely demanded but for some reason he couldn't help but feel like he knows her, like from a foggy memory, and by the looks of his family they all could sense the same thing.
The woman, or whatever she was, merely smiled, sharp teeth bared in it as she looked him right in the eyes and said.
"Gotham, my dear Dark Knight. I am Lady Gotham herself. Its wonderful to finally meet you despite the circumstances."

There’s been a recent trend of accidental deaths in the Gotham show business.
They can’t be ruled out as foul play but all the deaths seem to be centered around this one studio.
With some wiggle room several bats have been placed on scene.
Jason is in security, Tim as an intern, Bruce as a celebrity host..
And Dick has gotten the short end of the stick as a lucky contestant.
Constantly being watched by cameras in the house the contestants set in.
Coming up with duets that he will need to write and preform with strangers.
And trying to keep an eye out for anyone suspicious.
Great.
~~~~~~
Danny was actually pretty excited about landing it on the show.
Sure it wasn’t space but it was a job where he could hide in plain sight thanks to a late night visit to the electronics on set. GIW can’t go after him if he’s well known without getting on anyone’s radar.
Add that ever since his accident he has became very flexible and good at singing: he possibly make it to the top two!
That’s enough money to set him for life!
But things keep happening leading up to the beginning of recording.
Things that were too suspicious to be mere accidents.
God, he knows he shouldn’t snoop, he’s retired.
But the guy he shares a bathroom with is acting suspicious.
dp x dc prompt #17
Batman and Bruce Wayne are two separate people, Batman is just a ghost that Bruce picked up and befriended on his travels with a protection obsession who was incredibly lonely. Batman was perfectly happy to follow Bruce home for companionship, and Bruce let himself be possessed at night to protect the city. eventually they were practically inseparable.
Now the GIW has been prowling around Gotham and snatching any spirits they can catch, Jason has already been shot at once, and several other of his(their) kids have been chased down due to being death-touched. Now Batman is missing and it’s up to civilian Bruce Wayne, the Bat Clan, and a friendly midwestern Phantom to track down the GIW and free their friends.
Danny is on the run.
From both his parents/GIW and supporters of the previous king. They do not want a child as the new king.
So Danny is on the run.
Going from town to town. In each and every town he ends up befriending homeless kids, those in bad homes and everything in between. He uses his resources as king of the realm to help as much as he can.
He can’t every stay for long. It’s only a matter of time until one of the group finds him. Especially since he has to open a portal to get the items to help the others.
It’s in Gotham when his parents end up tracking him down. Specifically while in red hood’s territory.
Meeting the new Ghost King
Based on those ideas of Jason becoming the Ghost King.
After Danny defeats Pariah Dark, the crown (who is sentient) is looking for a new king who has the capabilities of running an entire realm. After Pariah, they actually want someone capable of running an entire realm, and someone who in Ghost years isn't a baby.
They find a halfa, with corrupted ectoplasm, running a crime empire, and thus, the choice was made. The crown helps filter away the corruption and starts explaining what new responsibilities the halfa gets as the King of the Infinte Realms.
*some time later*
After finding his footing as king of the dead. Jason starts bringing some order to the Infinte Realms, which eventually leads to diplomacy between the other realms. Since the previous king did jack shit relations between realms have fallen.
The Justice League and Justice League Dark get invited to a banquet in the Ghost Zone. The invitation states that the most prominent figures and people of each dimension will be there to establish relations between not only each other but most importantly the Ghost King. As a way of helping maintain balance and peace between all the realms.
The Justice League sends in the main trinity (Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman) plus Zatanna and Constantine for magic support. They arrive and immediately get a tag with their name and realms number.
The guests start to get a bit nervous as the banquet continues, and the king still hasn't shown themselves yet. That is until a ghost introduces himself as Phantom, the Fright Knight's squire, and announces the tge arrival of the new Ghost King: Jason Todd.
Most quests are surprised by the normal sounding name, while the Justice League are surprised by the familiar face.
Teaser for a DP x DC fic I’m currently writing:
——
Damien knows his father loves him. He’s pays attention to his hobbies and schoolwork, pays attention to his injuries and frames and hangs his artwork around the manor.
But,
His father didn’t choose him. The rest of his siblings are here because father chose for them to be. Damien was sort of dropped on his lap. Father could have obviously just kicked him out, Damien is a rather capable child and could fend for himself, but his father has to much of a golden heart for that.
His father loves him, but didn’t choose him.
It shows in small ways, as how it is normally Richard who takes him to school events or on “bonding” trips to zoos and aquariums. Or how father will gift him things close to his interests, but just slightly off from things he would actually use. Such as a katana with a bit less weight than he prefers, or a set of compressed charcoal when he prefers charcoal pencils as they do not stain his hands. Such things shouldn’t bother him as they do, but his father is the so called “world’s greatest detective” and a member of the Justice League, one would think that he would know the preferences of his children.
——
This is literally a first pass I haven’t even proofread yet
But if I post about it then I’m legally required to write it thems the rules
Danny being immortal didn't allow much leeway in life. Turned half ghost while in puberty did allow him to keep growing until it ended, in both powers and body. In fact, he grew exponentially, taller then his dad, as powerful as clockwork, if not more. For a bit he didn't know if he would stop. But he did, he knew he did. His friends and family kept growing and changing while he seemed to be stuck in time. The world had kept spinning without him and he was stuck looking 20 for eternity.
He remembers holding Sams hand when she fell I'll, surrounded by wires and a beeping monitor. Wheeling Tucker around when he broke his hip and his children were to busy to visit him. Planting Jazz's favorite flowers along her grave, knowing she left the world too soon.
Ghost took years to form, if they even formed into a ghost in the first place. So he waits, he's not exactly dead when the dead exists, but it's always lonely when your closest lover on dies.
Instead of focusing on that, he travels instead. Danielle had got bored of exploring the cosmos so he joined he in expiring the infinite realms. There's portals that leak into different dimensions. That he finds himself hopping through. Creating new bonds along the way and having as fun as possible.
He changes things around to make the ghost zone as comfortable as possible. Being crowned king has its perks and he waits patiently until his friends arrive
What if Danny's more powerful than he realizes? And what if the Fentons don't pay an electric bill?
The Fenton parents knew their ghost portal and other experiments would take a lot of energy.
The ecto-converter wasn't the first of its kind.
Of course not. It was just their latest model—a more portable, more universal model.
They had always had an energy converter and overflow storage container built into their ghost portal. Their electricity bills would have been through the roof otherwise.
They had temporarily plugged in several cords to provide enough electricity to power the portal on, but, once it was open, they had always planned on sapping the ambient ghostly energy to keep it running.
It had worked perfectly. In fact, they hadn't received an electric bill since.
Within a month, someone from the electric company had investigated, scratched their head in confusion, replaced their meter. And, when the new meter never changed from the row of zeros, the company shut off their service.
Not that the Fentons noticed. They weren't using it anyhow.
---
Danny had struggled to control his new ghost powers. He worked hard to learn them, and slowly built up his stamina and strength.
He'd always barely won his fights, only just managing to be good enough.
He viewed himself as being of average strength. He was on the same level as the other ghosts he's met.
The only reason he'd defeated Pariah Dark was that suit's 100x power boost (or had it said 100%? he wasn't too great at math), and he'd been completely drained afterward. Everyone knew Pariah Dark was above and beyond any other ghost. Undefeatable. Danny definitely wouldn't have expected to win in a fair fight, and hadn't been sure he even could with the suit.
He'd defeated his alternate future self, but that was mostly due to his parents' gadgets (plus his resolve to never turn into him). The guy hadn't even been that powerful—he was just a slightly older version of Danny, after all. There was no reason to think being away from home for a day would make Danny stronger, or that his alternate self being under the Fenton Works' roof for a day would make him weaker.
Besides, he's been away from home other times and nothing had changed then. Like when he and his mom were stranded in Colorado. ...Yeah, he'd been wearing a specter deflector most of the time—but still. And his dad and sister hadn't mentioned the power going off back home, and if Danny were powering their house, then of course the lights would've gone out. It's not like a bunch of ghosts would've randomly shown up at the house, just to recharge their battery or something.
And there was also that time his whole family had taken a vacation out west and left the house alone for days. Even with his parents putting Fenton Works in low power mode, everything would've shut off before they'd gotten back. It's not like, say, Vlad had come over to bug their house, and then spent hours upon hours with a bunch of his ghost stooges digging through his parents' blueprints and research ...right?
He could think of at least three ways, right off the top of his head, Vlad could've found out they were going on a trip, and he does not want to think about that.
Aaanyhow... the point is—there is absolutely no reason that him going to college in Florida would lead to, after just his second day of classes, his family being completely without electricity. Or for his eyes to start glowing bright green even in his human form, or his hair to start floating on its own, or for ghosts to start showing up from ghost portals that keep appearing around Danny for no reason and those ghosts bowing to him, or any of the other crazy things going on right now!?!!?1!
Seriously—what is going on?!??!!!!
Something I find super weird is that despite how much Danny Phantom content exists, there seems to be a sizable lack in Halfa!Jazz AUs.
Which is a big shame because while Danny's obsession is to protect people, Jazz's would definitely be to give everyone therapy.
dani’s obsession is with finding herself. she was created first to be an exact copy of danny, and then to help create an exact copy of him when she turned out ‘wrong’. so that makes her determined to be her own person - she just needs to find out who that person is, which leads her to travel the world and wander, just trying to figure out who she’s meant to be. it’s not exactly trying to be perfect like vlad seems to think danny is, but just being different.
Danny's guardian
Ectoberhaunt 2022, Side Chaos. Prompt: Wraith
Summary:
Wraith: The word has no certain etymology. J. R. R. Tolkien favored a link with writhe. Also compared are Scots warth and Old Norse vǫrðr (“watcher, guardian”), whence Icelandic vörður (“guard”). See also wray/bewray, from Middle English wreien. Perhaps from wrath as a wraith is a vengeful spirit.
Vǫrðr: In Norse mythology, a vǫrðr (Old Norse: [ˈwɔrðz̠], pl. varðir [ˈwɑrðez̠] or verðir [ˈwerðez̠] — "warden," "watcher" or "caretaker") is a warden spirit, believed to follow from birth to death the soul (hugr) of every person.
Concent Warning: Death, but then again, it's Danny's death that gets mentioned, does it really count?
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o
In the backyard of Fentonworks resided a tree, it wasn’t the tallest tree of them all, standing at 70 feet tall, with a white trunk filled and patches of light brown, no knots present in any part of it’s bark and branches twisting and going up and down, side to side, leaving all the leaves to give the tree as a whole a dome shape stretched to the top, leaves which are more often than not dark green, with some of them that haven’t fully grown yet being light green. Its roots spread deep underground, with all of them being thick as well.
This American Basswood has been in this lot for quite a while, with it being 85 years old, and despite it not being the strongest tree, it has managed to stand tall and proud all the time, no matter the weather nor the condition of the place.
From the roots of the tree rose a light, which was tinted green and barely illuminated its surroundings. From said light eventually a baby was formed, one that remained invisible all the time for the human eye. Said ghost floated away from its tree and eventually came upon a window, from which it remained a respectful distance away as it saw the baby whose appearance it was copying sleep peacefully.
“Another night safe from the dangers of that house.” the ghost spoke, smiling softly as he said so, only to frown upon thinking something else, “Or at least for now.”
He began floating away from the house and back to the tree it resided in, leaning himself against its bark as it had done plenty of nights before. “Oh if only I could spare him of his fate.”
“You know you can’t.” another voice joined him, as he felt a medallion slip onto his neck and landing softly on his small chest, said medallion occupying the totality of his torso. Beside him floated calmly a ghost with pale blue skin, purple cloak covering his face and the sound of clocks chiming from both his wrist and chest, both of which showcased a variety of watches from different time periods.
“I know Clockwork, that doesn’t mean that I have to like it,” the ghost who was faint to the sight thus far showed himself, showing that he was indeed a carbon copy of the bay in the room before, however instead of having his black hair or blue eyes, he had white hair and neon green eyes; not to mention that their skin was darker than the human counterpart, “it’s always sad to see a young human pass away, and even though he’ll survive, a part of him will still die.”
“That’s why you’re his Vǫrðr, you’ll be able to help him and protect him once the time comes.”
“In this time and age the correct word is Wraith and you know it.”
“Yes, however due to Dungeons and Dragons, your kind has gained an unfair stigma, one that I wish would have never started to begin with, but alas, it is unwise to change history and avoid those negative connotations to bleed in to begin with.”
“Anyways, have you only come here to stop me from trying to do something stupid or is there another reason?”
“Perspective as always Phantom.” At this the master of time, who now resembled an infant much like the Wraith in front of him, lowered himself until he was touching the roots with his own tail. “You know that young Daniel’s future is full of hardships, and those will make your job of protecting him difficult as well; what I came here for is to give you a warning, and something else as well that will help you once the time comes.”
At this Phantom stilled, looking straight in the only good eye Clockwork had. “... I’m listening.”
“Not so young Vǫrðr, the warning you’ll need to heed and remember is that soon this tree won’t be safe for you…” watching how the face of the young wraith paled, Clowork changed into his elder form and continued, “... the Fenton’s defenses might be lax and weak right now, but eventually by the time young Danny reaches the age of 10 the backyard will be within the range of detection of the security system.”
“B-but that’s not going to be healthy for me, being forced to be far from my tree when Danny is in his home where I won’t be able to protect him even then. How will I be able to accomplish my purpose when that happens?” a quivering voice was heard when Phantom opened his mouth, and even though he regained a semblance of control by the end of it, some tears could still be seen on the rim of his eyes.
“You’ll find a way Phantom, do remember where you come from when the time comes, and you’ll be able to keep yourself healthy alright.” Clockwork became an adult once more, and once the transformation was done he continued speaking. “What I’m giving you here is a gear that’ll be able to deactivate the house’s defenses, however do remember that it’s a one time use item, so don’t waste it.” That last part was said with such intensity that it caused Phantom to gulp and nod nervously as he received a gear with the initials CW etched inside it.
“The day Jack and Madelline Fenton finish the portal, and before it actually begins, you’ll need to be there present,” emphasized the Ancient, pointing with his staff to the Wraith, “if you want to properly protect your charge when the time comes, you’ll need to be next to him, and that gear will be the only thing that’ll allow you to get inside that house. It lasts for 24 hours, so that should let you do everything safe and sound and get used to the future.”
“Understood” replied Phantom, only to float down and phase said gear into the ground, next to the roots of his precious American Basswood. “Anything else before you leave?”
“Yes, this won’t be the last time we’ll meet Phantom, and I’m looking forward to the time where we find each other’s faces once more.”
“Thank you for your help Clockwork.”
“You’re welcome Phantom, goodbye.” And with that, the ghost left, taking with himself the medallion that was sitting on the torso of Phantom.
The years continued to fly by, and Phantom’s appearance changed alongside Danny Fenton’s, always being a carbon copy of himself with the differences in his hair, eyes and skin color. Eventually the day where the Fenton’s security system began reaching the backyard, Phantom became nervous and couldn’t think on what to do, until he recalled Clockwork's words and phased himself underground. Thankfully the defense system couldn’t detect anything underground, so he was safe there, but sadly he couldn’t defend Danny from anything that happened inside that house anymore; Phantom had no more option but to have faith that Danny had enough common sense to avoid dangerous objects and that Jazz would protect him whenever he could not.
Finally the time came though, where Jack and Maddie announced that they would turn on the ghost portal, and when they left the house dejected for their daily patrols. Jazz was outside at the time Danny invited Sam and Tucker inside, and Phantom knew that it was time; recovering the gear from its hiding place, he threw it at the house and, after waiting a few seconds, went inside in search of Danny. He eventually found him, but by then he was already donning his own hazmat suit. Phantom began floating beside him and put his own hand on top of his shoulder, and they both entered the portal together, even if only 1 of the 4 beings present really knew that. A flash of light, some molecules rearranged, and one fusion between a human and his Wraith later, and Danny Fenton-Phantom was created.
After School Ghost Theory 101 with Professor Fenton
Switch to light mode or Classic Blue to get the full transparency effect!
[Image ID: A four page comic that starts with Danny Fenton standing in front of a whiteboard holding up a white cat. "Question: Do ghosts purr?”
Tucker: “Danny when was the last time you slept?” Danny: “Irrelevant.”
Danny info-dumps: “The answer is yes, but also no. Technically, all beings that possess a core are constantly "purring", a.k.a. Core Vibrations. Core Vibrations are a nonverbal, emotion-based communication system between Ghosts, similar to how some living species use pheromones to communicate. The exact tone of each ghost is different the same way people's voices are different. Humans can only hear these vibrations when the frequency passes through their audible range (20Hz - 20KHz), hence the 'purring' sound. When the range dips into infrasound (16 - 20Hz) it can cause feelings of fear and unease in humans that they often associate with ghosts and the supernatural. Also known as the ‘Heebie Jeebies.’”
Danny, wiping off the whiteboard: “Any questions before we move on?"
Danny’s audience consists of Wes Weston, Tucker Foley, Sam Manson, Danny’s clone Ellie, and Dash Baxter in a classroom. Wes is seated at a desk at the front taking notes. Tucker is sitting on Sam’s lap playing on a Switch, Ellie is sitting on a desk behind them. Dash is asleep at the back of the room.
Ellie, now holding the cat: “Is this Vlad’s first cat!?” Wes: "Could you tone down the floating eyes before the next part? They're kinda distracting." Danny: "What eyes?" Wes: “Please stop gaslighting me.”
A transparency trick on the last page reveals dark shadows and eyes all around Danny when viewed in dark mode. /.End ID]
An Extended Image ID is available under the read more because it’s over 1k. Side by side light and dark mode versions of the transparency trick is also available under the cut.
[Extended Image ID: The post contains a four page comic. The first page shows two comic panels with white borders. The top panel features a bedraggled looking Danny Fenton from the waist up holding a disgruntled fluffy white cat. There are bags under his eyes, his hair is messy, his arms are covered in bandaids and cat scratches, and his nails are painted black. He’s wearing a white shirt with red sleeves and a red oval on the front. In a large green text bubble he says “Question: Do ghosts purr?” A small orange text bubble under it asks “Danny when was the last time you slept?” “Irrelevant” Danny replies.
In the bottom panel Danny is standing on the far left side of the panel in front of a whiteboard in a classroom with the cat under his arm. He’s wearing baggy jeans with holes in the knees and his classic white and red Converse shoes. The whiteboard behind him has partially erased doodles around the edges including some flowers, stars, and Phantom’s DP symbol. There are a few balls of paper on the floor. Partially out of frame on the wall behind Danny is a poster of  Einstein and above it a clock. Pointing at the whiteboard with a marker Danny says “The answer: Yes but also no” His words are written on the whiteboard. Under the words is a drawing of a stick figure and a green bedsheet ghost with a circle between them. The circle is surrounded by green squiggly lines radiating out from it. Under the circle, an arrow is drawn pointing to it with the words ‘core vibrations’ written on the board. A green text bubble in the space under the whiteboard says “Technically, all beings that possess a core are constantly "purring", a.k.a. Core Vibrations.”
On the second page there are two blocks of text, each followed by a drawing. The page background is a pale, greenish-grey with subtle scuff marks imitating the look of a whiteboard. The first block of text at the top of the page reads “Core Vibrations are a nonverbal, emotion-based communication system between Ghosts, similar to how some living species use pheromones to communicate. The exact tone of each ghost is different the same way people's voices are different.” Under the text, imitating the look of dry erase marker, is a drawing of two simple ghosts smiling and waving to each other. They both have a small green circle drawn on their chest area with green squiggly lines radiating out from each ghost. Between the two cores, two parallel arrows are drawn, facing opposite directions. Under the arrows is the text “core to core communication.”
Under the ghosts is a second block of text reading “Humans can only hear these vibrations when the frequency passes through their audible range (20Hz - 20KHz), hence the 'purring' sound. When the range dips into infrasound (16 - 20Hz) it can cause feelings of fear and unease in humans that they often associate with ghosts and the supernatural. Also known as the ‘Heebie Jeebies.’” Under the text a red arrow points from the words ‘heebie jeebies’ to a simple drawing of Dash Baxter holding a flashlight and looking scared. There is a cobweb with a dangling spider drawn to his right and a bunch of green blob ghosts behind him to his left. In blue text the blobs say “you forgot to update your mailing address with the IRS” and “you filed your taxes incorrectly.”
The third page once again shows two comic panels. In the top panel Danny takes up the centre. He’s stretched across the whiteboard in a dynamic pose erasing the drawing of frightened Dash with a big swipe. One hand is braced on the board as he looks over his shoulder and asks “Anyone got questions before we move on?” If the image is viewed in dark mode, there are five, messily drawn eyes of varying sizes surrounding Danny. If viewed in light mode, the eyes are absent.
The bottom comic panel reveals Danny’s audience to be Wes Weston, Tucker Foley, Sam Manson, Danny’s clone Ellie, and Dash Baxter. In the bottom left corner, Wes sits slouched at a desk at the front of the classroom with papers and an open notebook spread out over his desk. He’s wearing a red zip up hoodie with white sleeves. His hoodie is unzipped showing a green shirt underneath that matches the colour of his eyes. At the desk beside him Tucker and Sam share a chair with their focus on Tucker’s Switch and not Danny’s presentation. Tucker is sitting in Sam’s lap with her arms around his waist and her head resting on his shoulder. Tucker is wearing a red beanie with short dreads, goldenrod yellow turtleneck sweater, green cargo pants, and white shoes. Sam is wearing a black crop top with a fishnet layer over top, purple pleated plaid skirt, artistically ripped purple leggings, and black combat boots with bright green laces. Tucker has the tips of his dread dyed green and purple. Sam has streaks of purple, green, and orange in her hair. Ellie is sitting cross legged on top of a desk two rows behind Sam and Tucker. She’s wearing a cropped hoodie with the same colours as Danny’s shirt and black track pants with white and red shoes. Her hair is tied in a high ponytail and she is holding the squirming fluffy white cat up in the air. At the very back of the classroom behind Wes’ left shoulder Dash can be seen asleep slouched over his desk. Wes has one hand resting on his desk holding a mechanical pencil the other partially raised with his hand open. In a beige text bubble with red text he replies to Danny’s question with an unimpressed look on his face “Could you tone down the floating eyes before the next part? They're kinda distracting.” Under his text bubble a small blue text bubble from Ellie asks “Is this Vlad’s first cat!?” If the image is viewed in dark mode, there are three visible floating eyes off to the side of the panel. If viewed in light mode, the eyes are absent.
The final comic page is a single, full body shot of Danny standing in front of the blank whiteboard. He’s looking over his shoulder, slightly turned with his back mostly towards the classroom and the eraser in his hand. He has an incredulous look on his face. If the page is viewed in dark mode, the background looks dark and Danny is surrounded by dozens eyes of in all different sizes. If viewed in light mode, the eyes are absent. In a green text bubble Danny asks “What eyes?” In the bottom left corner Wes replies “Please stop gaslighting me.” /.End ID]
