Just got into and finished the latest episode of Buddy Daddies and now I want to write an AU with Rei sick…
Like just imagine, Rei hiding any injury or illness due to his upbringing. Basically carrying about his day/ week as normal as Miri had a small cold so why would a child illness bring down an adult. He passes out at one point and wakes up to Kazuki standing over him/ Miri crying in the background because something is wrong with Papa-Rei. Talks of childhood abuse, scars, nightmares, depression, Rei’s fears of becoming his dad, past relationships and how they became friends; yada yada. Obviously, Kazuki being nurturing as he seems fatherly/ caring- but he came from a broken foster system so there’s that. High fever, puking, headaches, nightmares, crying and/ or emotional angst, Rei not being okay with the amount of attention he’s receiving and consistently trying to convince everyone he’s fine and to leave him alone. And of course, Miri being the adorable and sometimes obnoxious 4-yr-old that she is :)
I saw the news clip on insta earlier and the anime I used in this video was the first thing I thought of when it happened 😆.
oh I apologize about the iphone6 thing on the anime video. it was the only video that was dubbed. the other videos either had the Japanese with English subs,or it would be dubbed but had the subtitles from the Japanese vids so the captions were incorrect as they used diff words so had to use this one.
I might look into why my subs don't work when I use Crunchyroll on Roku.
Since Season 2 has officially begun its release, I decided to rewatch Season 1 with all of the critiques and admiration that have developed since the shows conception.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a refreshing take on the shonen genre with seinen elements. The animation is amazing, the action is consistent, and the chemistry of the characters already challenges it predecessors. JJK also avoids some of the pitfalls of shonen such as the overuse of fan service, romance obsessed female characters, and unrealistic motivations.
Watching this episode, I remembered a critique someone shared that made them hesitate to finish the show. No judgement, I've writtmw off many an anime I've come to enjoy or even favor (My Hero Acadmeia and Naruto, for sure). Their problem? Yuuji is a "coerced" hero.
Now, I understand the moral conundrum of the forced hero who is pulled into a mess not of their making and has no choice but to deal with it, or face the consequence. Where's the consent? Is it heroic if someone else made the choice for them?
But by the 2nd episode, there are several examples of how Yuuji enthusiastically and determinedly accepted his new path to fight curses and save lives.
1. In episode 1, Yuuji jumps into the fight to save his friends with little hesitation. After his grandfather's death. He was committed to using his strength to help others. That motivation remained consistent throughout the series. He could have ran home or waited outside the school like Megumi told him. Instead, he tapped in and tapped ass. Then, he stayed to help Megumi.
He ate Sakuna's finger willingly in order to have the power to beat the curses. And he was agreeable to joining their cause when he was finally given an ultimatum which already aligned with his motivations.
2. Yuuji is tested to see how committed he is to being a jujutsu practitioner. It's not an easy life, and the typical shonen "I want to save people" does not fly with the senior sorcerers. They did not admit Yuuji as a student until he came up with his own reason to fight curses outside of someone final death wish. Because at the end of the day, he's the one who has to live with that decision.
I went to the premiere of Solo Leveling in LA last night, and before the screening they had photo ops stuff for the attendees. They had a sword replica from the show on display at the bar, worth like 15k, like wtf. Anyway, this guy goes to the photo op and one of the staff brings him the sword to hold for pictures. and only him.
and then he also takes pictures with the 2 producers from Japan, one from A-1 studios and the other from Aniplex, while holding the sword and then they put it back. Then during the Q&A before and after the screening, it was only the producers, moderator, and translator on stage.
My wife and I want to know who this guy is!! Is he a VA for the show? Another person who worked on the anime? My wife had a theory it might be a member of TomorrowxTogether but idk about that. So I’m posting the pics she got of the guy from a distance to see if anyone might know who he is! He has to be someone he got to hold the expensive as hell sword!
