THE ESCAPED WOLF. PERILOUS ADVENTURE OF OUR INTERVIEWER.
I love this title so much every time. Ah yes, the perilous adventure of being... *checks notes* ...lightly pranked by a zookeeper and his wife after a nice meal.

In the spring of 1897, novelist and poet Stephen Crane was working as a war correspondent for the New York Journal covering a possible war between Greece and Turkey. In between dispatches he posed for this photograph in an Athens studio.

Cutting from "The Daily Graph", 8 August — One old fisherman, who for more than half a century has kept watch on weather signs from the East Cliff, foretold in an emphatic manner the coming of a sudden storm.

I’m actually pretty surprised that people of Whitby want to adopt that dog so much if they know he killed another dog (Unless it’s not widely believed and it’s only correstpondents opinion?)
Anyway if that coal merchant also thinks that he probably is heartbroken and annoyed that rest of town ignores what dog from ship did to his dog
...AU in which coal merchant kills dog Dracula in revenge for killing his dog

This is an original 1953 photo of the Kentucky Derby as they turned for home. Dark Star is leading (arrow pointing). Next is Correspondent who is second at this point but will fade to fifth. On the rail is Native Dancer who is third at this point and will finish second. The last arrow is pointing at Invigorator who is fourth at this point and will finish third.

Dracula Daily Liveblog: August 9
Tumblr media
Would the Count, in the form of a dog, be more inclined to drink the blood of another dog? Or is human blood all that he would want even in dog form?
Tumblr media
As he should. What a lovely and kind thing for a town to do for a stranger they don't know. It's a nice ending for a good man.
Tumblr media
In another universe, the Count (dog) does indeed become adopted by the town, and has to go solve mysteries with the Correspondent, all the while keeping his vampiric nature hidden from those he cares about. Alas, in this universe Dracula is a horror story, and not a crime procedural.

I love our Correspondent's voice! The choice to make them a lady journalist was great, adds such a fun element. It can be another dimension to why Mina clipped out their article - not only is it interesting to her of its own accord, but this is the kind of writing that she admires and wants to emulate, full of details and engaging. And they did a great job of sounding professional and yet still giving a very dramatic and atmospheric (yes, pun intended) description.
The weather audio in the background was excellent. I especially loved when the line "Then without warning the tempest broke" led to huge rolls of thunder and tons of rain and waves, it was excellent.
I love the edge of pride at "your correspondent is a fairly good runner," (and the wet splashy footprints!), as well as the little edge of frustration when other people still got there first.
The thunder rumbling for Mina!!
"Lucy was very restless all night, and I, too, could not sleep." So once again, no one gets any rest.
And Mina's voice getting worn as she worries over Jonathan... everything makes her think of him, and she is so afraid for him. :(

We've seen a lot of artworks portraying the heroism of soldiers, but don't forget the sacrifice of our war correspondents as well.
