hi! there’s a completely unnecessary and dramatic ramble below. read if you so please
or just ignore me lmao
you were warned lol-
so the only words people ever really use to describe me are things like, “nice”, “kind”, or “considerate”
which is very kind of them and that’s how I want to act and be seen as…. but not if that’s the only noticeable or discernible thing about me.
am I really that boring and forgettable? or is being kind and considerate of others and their feelings just that hard to find?
I don’t know. but it’s made me feel absolutely terrified to break this image i’ve somehow accidentally built for myself.
It legitimately seems like if I say “no” to someone or say something that gets misunderstood or taken the wrong way, that then no one will like me ever again because apparently all anyone sees me as is “nice”
and if i’m not nice….. then i’m just nothing I guess

I’m starting to hate STSG so much solely for the fact that I cannot consume any content of my faves without them always being brought up or inserted into the conversation in some type of way
I just wanna hyperfixate on Hikara and Itafushi yet the most toxic and unhealthy ship is brought up more in their tags than them themselves

I'm very sorry to the blog runner for getting personal here, but I feel it's necessary necessary get across what I want. I think I have a fair reason to be uncomfortable with Hey Melissa, as someone who, in childhood, had a girl force me to play dog with her by tying a rope around my neck and yanking me along by the makeshift leash that was so tight it left indents in my neck. Forgive me if that story hits a little too close to my trauma! I have nothing against the story's existence or the people who love it, I'm glad! But no one has the right to diss what legitimately triggers other people as "not being able to handle horror" just because they have different limits to you. I know for a fact Killer Track was a difficult episode for some people who have issues with unreality and superstition, and Perky's Buds was hard for people with emetophobia, and I've never seen anyone claim those people just "can't handle horror." Yes, Hatchetfield is horror. A big mixed bag of light and heavy horror. And everyone has different limits of what they can take, different things will effect different people differently. I'm sure every Hatchetfield story will hit badly and upset someone out there at some point, even ones the majority would consider the most tame. Being upset by something specific doesn't mean we can't handle horror, it means we can't handle that specific topic. And no one should have to disclose their trauma to be "valid" for being upset by something. We should all be a little more respectful of things like that.

MGSV really is *so* misogynistic it is honestly hard to believe. It has ONE named female character, just one. And holy shit, the things they make that single woman do.
I don't know what happened. Or how Kojima thought what we was doing was defensible.
I could just link to the introduction of the SKULL snipers from Mission 28 Code Talker but even that I feel is so unbelievable to see with your own eyes that it would exit the mind as soon as it stopped playing.
Literally every criticism made during that era toward's this game is accurate. Every single one.
It might legit be the WORST example of "male gaze," literally literally ever. Out of everything.
If MGSV had outright no women in it whatsoever it would be better than what this is.
The cutscene for when Big Boss comes to Mother Base after not showering was what sealed it for me.
And the fact that there were people back then who thought they could defend this perhaps makes it even more deranged.

Anyone else find it weird that we never see Adam and Ilia interact? Even in the dc comics and Adam short the most they ever do is stand next to each other. Not a single word ever exchanged. Why?

"We therefore need to separate out the 'facets' of [Anne de Pisseleu's] life, the way she was perceived by different groups and individuals. According to these, she could be viewed as an ornament to the court, a grasping favorite, a desired patroness, an able businesswoman, later on as a pillar of the reformed church and cantankerous old woman. At different times and over a long life, Anne de Pisseleu played all these roles."
David Potter, "The Life and After-Life of a Royal Mistress: Anne de Pisseleu, Duchess of Étampes"
#historicwomendaily#I wanted this to be my first post on this blog for this new year because I love her! So much!#She's absolutely captivating and had such a colourful and unapologetic life#anne de pisseleu#french history#Francis I#16th century#my post#queue#I can't believe I haven't posted anything about her before - she's probably one my top 10 most interesting historical women#She's ridiculously overlooked & underrated which is bizarre considering how infamous and wildly important she was during her life#But instead her vital impact on Francis's reign and on the informal 'institution' of the French royal mistress is often completely erased#or trivialized in historical accounts - both general and academic#And when she *is* noticed she's demonized (and thus dismissed) as capricious/duplicitous/vengeful/selfish etc#as Kathleen Wellman* points out: a lot of this is due to her ties to Francis I - who's considered the most important French Renaissance Kin#So Anne's power and impact is diminished and downplayed in order to preserve and lionize his reputation#but she's simultaneously viewed as the villainous who's responsible for his mistakes. It's inherently contradictory :/#(not to say that she was pristine or faultless or anything - ofc not - but I think you get what I'm saying)#and of course she was seen as 'the epitome of the deleterious effects of giving women too much authority' during her time so that probably#plays a key role in how she's currently perceived#she's also sometimes viewed as a sort of 'prelude' to Diane de Poitiers - which is ridiculous because it's *Anne* who set the precedent#for a lot of things Diane and later royal mistresses are now renowned for. But her spearheading role and immense impact is never#highlighted or credited as much as it should be.#Oh well. At least David Potter and Tracy Adams are doing a great job with her. Props to them they're fantastic :)#(btw I genuinely think that people who are interested in Anne Boleyn should look her up I think y'all will really like her)#(Both Annes were direct contemporaries and I think they had a very similar style)#*Wellman's book had lots of errors and assumptions but eh

this is like #9000 on the list of stuff bendis fucked up, but the one niche thing that i would personally stone him for is erasing post-infinite crisis daxam in favor of just turning them into Generic Alien Race #3467. for lots of reasons, but mostly because that whole mesoamerican futuristim-inspired thing they had was Neat & could've so easily been made into something really, really cool in the right writer's hands
and like yeah, admittedly it was only around for all of like 5 minutes in 2009, so it was pretty unlikely that anyone would pick back up on it, but it was still at least still technically a canon thing! it was swept so far under the rug that most people never saw anything about it, but it was there!! there was a chance, however slim, that someone could do something with it!!! until bendis!! and now it's completely gone, and they're just blandass stock image aliens!! hate!!!

I find it hilarious that most of the discussion about The Hunger Games a few years ago post movie was “Why does everyone talk about the love triangle it wasn’t that important talk about everything else, the themes, the other characters” and then flash forward to now all people talk about wrt The Hunger Games is the love triangle and shipping

It’s a crazy situation because obviously he needs tenderness. He needs physical contact from someone that isn’t a demon throwing his ass across the room. But I just KNOW he’d be so fucking weird abt it
Like you put a hand on his arm and he goes so stiff he feels like a corpse. Might even get snippy abt it. Chapter 2 Yumi briefly touches his hand (albeit on purpose)(with the intent to get a reaction)(staring) and he is just clenching his jaw like a bear trap. Also staring.
I just. Every time someone tries to get closer to this man in ANY way, he barks and puffs up or he lies and misdirects, but something about physical touch would cause him to be so so unwell. It’s too honest. He wouldn’t even be able to do the classic Raymond ‘get the fuck away from me wait what you’re leaving 🥺’ bit. He’d just retreat into himself. Might even confuse the feelings of danger, of his racing heartbeat and sickened stomach, as anger in the moment. But he fucking knows better!! He does!!! He’s not angry he’s terrified. Digging into that deeper he’ll find what he’s scared of is exactly what he wants: someone to see and know him completely

Imagine if there was a South Park game that was completely choice based and just had the most ludicrous choices that have the largest impact. Like if you chose to wear one thing over the other, or chose to hit Clyde or leave him be it just has the most impact on the story compared to a choice of killing one person over another
