why beatles why now

I'm exactly 3 weeks out today from incidentally pressing play on Peter Jackson's Beatles LOTR one ramblin' night and watching for maybe half an hour tops before before being so flooded. Flooded with the memories that in fact I knew every Beatles song back in the day--my first musical love as a teenager that I had just wandered off eventually from and forgotten. Flooded with the flash realization that every notion I'd had of the band AND their songs back then was highly restricted by my youth but also by the simplistic band mythologizing and lack of direct media of the 90's.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but surely I can't be the only one with this mind melting experience. How did you get here, blown away by the Beatles in year 2024?

which is very kind of them and that’s how I want to act and be seen as…. but not if that’s the only noticeable or discernible thing about me.

am I really that boring and forgettable? or is being kind and considerate of others and their feelings just that hard to find?

It legitimately seems like if I say “no” to someone or say something that gets misunderstood or taken the wrong way, that then no one will like me ever again because apparently all anyone sees me as is “nice”

Want to know something crazy? My regional Planned Parenthood's FB page has been catching flack from EVERYONE for using "uterus owners" and "birthing bodies". Obviously, the restrictions in our state proves women don't own our uterus and it's disrespectful to call anyone who wants an abortion a birthing body. But I was surprised to see a lot of trans men calling out this language as denying their personhood and disrespecting their dysphoria, but whoever runs that PP's social media page was getting angry with the trans men and yelling at them not to use their dysphoria to police other people's language. ???? So it's not about being inclusive after all? None of this makes any sense and I can't believe how much time everyone's wasting lecturing every female person how they talk about themselves.

my printer is bluetooth, but very dumb, so when I send something, it might be a few hours before it actually wake ups and prints

I am easily distractible and often forget that I sent something to the printer, because it has been a few hours

I have an edison style bare-bulb fixture over my couch where I sit and write/work most of the time, it is often the only light source besides my computer

I live alone and do a large amount of work at night.

the electrical wiring in my house is not great, and when the printer kicks on, all of my lights flicker while a creepy rattle-crackle-breathing noise comes from the shadows of my bedroom.

my pre-existing lack of chill about this combination of things is why I do not/have not/will not actually watch the show.

guillermo del toro’s pinocchio is a beautiful film but my god no one has adapted that story like neverafter. you can never look at it the same way again after listening to lou wilson, a black man, explaining that he chose to play as pinocchio because it’s a story about a little boy who isn’t allowed to make mistakes. that in pinocchio's story, he is fundamentally barred from childhood at once upon a time. he must earn something that everyone else is granted from birth. the other boys get to tell lies and play and get into trouble, but when pinocchio does the same thing there are grave and violent consequences. his pinocchio is trying to understand why the world is so unfair, why the rules are so different for him, why everyone else gets to be a real boy.

and I think about it every day.

Studying linguistics is actually so wonderful because when you explain youth slang to older professors, instead of complaining about how "your generation can't speak right/ you're butchering the language" they light up and go “really? That’s so wonderful! What an innovative construction! Isn't language wonderful?"
