A Charming Carol
For Meli @perhapsblues for the 2023 Charmed Secret Santa. Happy Holidays and I hope you like your story! (Sorry it's a little late, I ended up with a ton of family stuff, plus this story got a little out of hand length-wise.)
Note: I am not Wiccan or Pagan and have never celebrated Solstice, so I did a little Google research while writing this story to get an idea of Solstice celebrations. They seem to vary a lot, but I made sure to include candles for light and acknowledge the importance of the shortest day of the year. Any outright errors are entirely my own.
Christmas Past
Prue didn’t know how it happened. One minute she was standing in the kitchen, checking the Book of Shadows to make sure she’d added all the potion ingredients right, and the next she felt a blast of heat at her back and was hurtled forward, just managing to catch herself on her hands as she fell to the kitchen floor.
“Ow.”
She scrambled to her feet, ready to yell to the rest of the house that she was fine. But there was no inquiring shout from either of her sisters. In fact, the house was oddly still, with the only sound she heard now being the distant notes of … was that the Trans Siberian Orchestra?
Perplexed, Prue glanced behind her at the kitchen’s island counter to see if the potion had exploded.
The potion was gone. So was the pot it had boiled in and the smattering of leftover ingredients.
And so was the Book of Shadows.
“Oh no,” Prue said. “Oh no, no, nonono. PIPER!”
She stood frozen, staring at the empty counter. How had the Book of Shadows disappeared so quickly and how had she not realized it, and was it the potion or was it a demon or was it….?
“Hey, Mom’s not here right no—who are you?”
Prue whirled around to see two tall young men, one blond, one brown-haired, and instead of bothering to ask them what the hell they were doing in her kitchen, she just raised her hand to throw them out.
Only the blond one immediately brought up a shield of blue light, which seemed to deflect Prue’s powers. Both men—boys really, she could see now how young their faces looked—stared at her with wide eyes. “Aunt Prue?” the brown-haired one said.
“Aunt … Prue—what now?” Prue blinked several times.
“Oh, I think she got blasted here from the past,” the blond one said to the other. “Did Mom ever mention anything to you about this?”
“Rules of time travel, Wyatt, how do you always forget?” the brown-haired one said. “If it goes right, they don’t remember anything when they go back to their own time.”
The blond rolled his eyes. “’I’m Chris and I know all about time travel because an alternate version of me went back in time and saved my big brother,’” he said in a mocking voice.
“Well, I did. You’re welcome.” The brown-haired one turned back toward Prue. “Aunt Prue? How you doing?”
“Not good,” said Prue. “Because I’m not your aunt. I’m not anybody’s aunt. You’re just two demons who shimmered into my house and stole my book and now are trying to trick me by claiming to be family, which, by the way, get a better story next time because I’m not convinced.”
She punctuated this with another sweep of her hand, which she hoped would toss them across the room. Instead, it just made their shield flutter a little.
Even that seemed to alarm them. “She’s powerful,” said the blond in awe.
“Yeah, we knew that already,” said the other. “Listen, Aunt Prue, we really are your nephews, you’re just in the future. In the year 2023. And the Book’s upstairs in the attic, like always.”
“Why should I believe you?” Prue demanded.
“Believe this.” The brown-haired boy tossed something rectangular shaped, which sailed harmlessly through the shield and which Prue caught automatically. She glanced at it. It had a picture of the two boys on it under the digital time—6:00 p.m. exactly—and in the top left-hand corner was the date. Dec. 21, 2023.
She held up the rectangular thing. “What is this?”
The brown-haired one nodded impressively. “That’s what a cell phone looks like in the year 2023.”
“Well, it doesn’t flip open.”
“They tend to not, anymore.”
Prue looked wildly around her. Now that she was paying attention to something other than the Book being gone, she noticed subtle changes to the kitchen. The egg yolk yellow paint on the walls had been replaced with a soft, muted gray. Piper’s snarky hand towels hanging on the oven had been replaced with different towels that were still snarky but didn’t have curse words. The photos on the fridge were sleeker and featured a veritable herd of mostly dark-haired children she’d never seen before.
“I’m … in … the future?”
“Yep,” said the blond. “Now we’ve got to figure out how you got here and how to get you back.”
Prue tried to sound sternly maternal. Or aunt-like. Whatever. “Where is your mother?” She frowned. “And who is your mother?”
“Piper is our mom, Leo is our dad,” said the blond. “I’m Wyatt, and this is my little brother Chris.” Chris held up one hand in a casual wave. “He’s a pro at the whole time-travel thing.”
“And Mom and Dad are visiting Aunt Phoebe right now,” Chris said. “She’s living in a loft downtown.”
Prue let out a bark of laughter. “Phoebe lives in a loft? Who’s paying for it?”
“She is,” Wyatt said brightly. “She’s a celebrity now.”
Prue opened her mouth to say something sarcastic, but then stopped herself. Phoebe had been working hard lately to get her life on track. If everything Chris and Wyatt said was true, then she was succeeding … had succeeded … would succeed?
The point was, she didn’t need her big sister second guessing her.
And Piper and Leo had made it. Prue felt the beginnings of something warm fill her stomach. “So … so you two are … the next generation? Which means … we survive.”
Wyatt opened his mouth, but Chris stepped on his foot. “Yes, Aunt Prue,” Chris said. “The Charmed Ones survived.”
Wyatt lowered the shield and gave her a quick, cautious smile. Prue didn’t miss the way his eyes darted to Chris’s. There was something the boys weren’t saying.
But Prue knew better to interrogate. For one thing, they were limited in what they could say, due to the whole butterfly effect. For another, she probably wouldn’t be able to remember any of this anyway once she got back to her time. And for the last thing, she had more immediate problems.
“Great, so.” She wracked her brains, trying to think what to do next. “This has been fun meeting you and everything, glad to know your parents make it work—and your Whitelighter shield is very impressive, Ch—Wyatt, sorry, it’s Wyatt, right? But we’re in the middle of a major demon hunt—Belthazor, the Triad, the Source—so in order to make sure you two get born and don’t have demons breaking down the door every day, we need to get me back to the year 2000.”
“Agreed,” Wyatt said brightly. “Chris can help you with that.”
***
It turned out working with her nephew was a lot like working with her sisters, except Chris actually listened to her.
“Don’t worry,” he said grinning when she made a comment about it. “It’s only Wyatt I don’t listen to.”
He also had the same power as Prue did, which he demonstrated by closing the attic door with the same casual hand wave she did.
“Cool,” Prue said, grinning. “Can you astral project too?”
“No, but I can orb.” Chris frowned. “Astral projection. What if it was your astral projection powers that interfered with the potion to send you to our time?”
As they’d headed to the attic, Prue had explained to Chris the spell she’d been working on in 2000. A time management spell—with everything going on, the manor had needed a little organization, dammit.
But Prue didn’t think astral projection would have anything to do with that spell. “I move through the astral plane, not time,” she said.
Chris held up one finger. “But time is different in the astral plane. Especially on nights of concentrated magic. Like, say, December 21?”
Prue frowned. “Okay, I didn’t think of that.” She peered down at the Book. It was much thicker in 2023 than it had been in 2000. She pointed to a passage. “And I probably used too much cayenne pepper, which could have reacted with my powers—”
“—And mistletoe—”
“And all of that together on a powerful night like the winter Solstice caused a time travel blip,” Prue finished. “Ok, note to self: no more cooking with cayenne on Wiccan holidays.”
“Better leave the cooking to Mom anyway,” Chris said, closing the book. “Simple accident should require a simple solution. Luckily, I’m an expert at the spell you need to travel through time.” He took a piece of chalk and began sketching a large, long shape on the wall while Prue watched.
While he worked, Prue opened the book and began paging through it, pausing to look at spells and creatures she didn’t recognize.
“It’s nice to know all this keeps going,” she said. After I’m gone, she added in her mind. It hadn’t escaped her notice that almost none of the new spells were in her handwriting. She was torn between wanting to ask Chris how much longer she had and being terrified of the answer.
She looked up to see Chris had drawn a giant triquetra on the wall. “If you call your mother and Phoebe, we can do the Power of Three spell,” she said.
“We don’t need to,” Chris said. “This is my own spell, sort of.” He frowned as he stepped back. “Unless you want Mom and Aunt Phoebe.” He looked at her uncertainly.
Prue chose her words carefully. “How would they react to seeing me?”
Chris gave her a small, understanding smile. “I think they’d be really happy to see you.”

Christmas Past
The last time Phoebe approached the manor with this much trepidation, she’d been twenty-two years old and coming home from New York with no money to pay for her cab.
Now she was anxious about seeing the same person—but in a completely different way.
Leo was in the front seat driving, with Paige in the passenger seat. Phoebe sat in the back with Piper, who grabbed her hand as they turned into the driveway.
Paige had offered to orb them, but Phoebe wanted some time to ground herself. More than twenty years as San Francisco’s preeminent advice columnist, and never once had anyone written her asking what to do when their dead big sister shows up from 2000 and asks to see her.
Leo parked the car, and they all got out silently. Phoebe was still holding Piper’s hand.
They got to the door. “Should we knock?” asked Phoebe.
Piper scowled, looking for a moment like her old self. “It’s my house, I’m not knocking.” She opened the door.
They were greeted by Wyatt, sitting on the bottom step playing on his phone. He looked up and flashed them a grin as Piper and Phoebe came in, followed by Leo and Paige. “Where is she?” Phoebe asked, suddenly desperate to see her.
“In the sitting room with Chris,” Wyatt said. “He made her stay put because she was pacing so much.”
Phoebe started running.
She skidded to a halt in the living room, causing Piper to nearly crash into her. Prue jumped off the couch and for a moment, they all stared at each other.
It was like looking at a video of a Christmas past. Prue looked thirty years old, her dark hair long and lustrous, wearing a tight t-shirt with cookies and milk on it that said I PUT OUT FOR SANTA. She was beautiful. She was home.
Then the Halliwell sisters all squealed like a bunch of teenagers and crashed into each other in a hug.
“I can’t believe you’re here,” Phoebe said, smushed between her two big sisters.
“I can’t believe I’m here,” Prue said. They all squeezed tighter, giggling and sliding on Piper’s slick floor. After several long moments, they let go and Prue blurted out, “You guys look so old!”
“Hey, watch who you’re calling old, lady!” Piper said, but there were tears running down her face. Prue kissed the top of her head, and Piper fit her head in the space between Prue’s neck and shoulder, looking like a little girl again.
“I heard you finally got your restaurant,” Prue said.
“Yeah, after demon vanquish number 60 million.”
Phoebe leaned her head on Prue’s other shoulder, and Prue brushed some of her hair out of her face. “And you’re giving people advice for a living?”
Phoebe stiffened. “Surprised?”
“Not at all. I … actually feel like I should have seen it coming.” Prue seemed thoughtful.
Phoebe sniffed. “Well, I’m the one with the power of premonition.”
“And … empathy and levitation?”
“Eh.”
Prue finally looked away from her sisters to the rest of the people gathered in the living room. Chris and Wyatt were standing back like they didn’t want to intrude on an emotional moment, but Leo and Paige were in her line of sight. Prue grinned. “Hey, Leo. Looking good.”
Leo let out a laugh through his front teeth. “Thanks Prue. It’s good to see you.”
Prue disentangled herself from Phoebe and Piper and pulled Leo into a long hug. When she released him, she turned to Paige. “And you must be Paige.”
It had been a long time since Paige looked uncertain, but as she cast a quick glance at Piper and Phoebe, she reminded Phoebe so much of the first time they’d met that for a moment Phoebe wondered if they weren’t the one who had time traveled. She gave Paige as encouraging a smile as she could, and her baby sister squared her shoulders and turned back to Prue. “And you’re the famous Prue. It’s … really great to meet you.”
She held out her hand, but Prue shook her head. “Sisters hug,” she said firmly, and Paige laughed as the two embraced.
“So Chris and Wyatt explained everything to you?” Piper said shrewdly as they two women released each other.
“Yes.” Prue pushed a lock of hair behind her ear. She looked exactly the same as the last time Phoebe saw her—thirty years old, beautiful, and much more confident than the rest of them. “I kind of figured it out when I noticed none of the new spells in the Book of Shadows were left by me.” She took a breath and let it out slowly. “I was upset, at first, but mostly I just want to see you guys.”
“What time are you from, exactly?” Paige asked.
“December 21, 2000,” Prue said. “Exactly twenty-three years ago.”
“Wow,” Phoebe said. “We’re so old.”
“Belthazor just killed the Triad, and then you killed Belthazor,” Prue said, gesturing to Phoebe who tried not to wince. Somehow, she had never thought about how the last Christmas she’d spent with Prue, she’d been lying to her. “And now we’re trying to deal with the Source. And Piper and Leo are on probation, but it looks like that works itself out.”
“Yeah, after a couple of hiccups,” Piper said.
Leo held out his hand, and his wife took it with a small smile. “It was worth it, though,” Leo said, bending to kiss her.
“And you’ve got amazing kids! I mean, I can’t believe that Chris wrote a working time travel spell that doesn’t even require the Power of Three,” Prue said.
“Yeah, and that spell is ready whenever you are,” Chris volunteered from the corner where he was standing shoulder to shoulder with Wyatt.
“Oh, you don’t have to go now, do you?” Phoebe blurted out.
“Yeah, it’s Christmas!” Piper said. “You can stay for Christmas!”
“Or at least Solstice,” Paige said. “I mean, the power’s going to be really easy to tap into until midnight, so we have a few hours, and even after that we can still get you back, whenever you want. I mean, if you want,” she added. “I know we all look different and you just met me and you probably want to get back to your own time, but … I’d love to get to know my big sister.”
“I do need to get back,” Prue said. “But I think it can wait a few hours.”
“Then let’s do Solstice and Christmas!” Phoebe said. “I have the candles and all the shopping’s done. I can have the girls bring over the presents.”
“Yeah, Henry can bring over ours,” Paige said.
“But I haven’t done the baking yet!” Piper said.
“We’ll just order pizza,” said Wyatt.
“Pizza? On the Solstice? In my house?” Piper said. “Who raised you?”
What followed was a flurry of activity. Piper went to the kitchen to bake cookies and canapes (though Wyatt still ordered four pizzas for everyone). Phoebe and Paige got on the phone with their respective husbands to tell them what was going on and that Christmas would be a couple of days early this year so they could spend it with Aunt Prue. Within an hour, the house was filled with the sound of children’s shrill laughter and the smell of Piper’s baking.
Witches and Wiccans celebrate Solstice a variety of ways, but since the Charmed Ones celebrated it and Christmas—and since demons still tended to crash any bashes they threw—they kept their celebrations simple. As the sun set, they gathered in the living room to light a candle and pass it around, each saying what they were thankful for and expressing their hopes for the coming season of light.
Piper tried to get Prue to start, but Prue patted her knee. “I think it should be you, since you’re the head of this family now.”
Piper’s eyes filled with tears, but she gave Prue a quick smile and began to speak, talking about the importance of the shortest day of the year. As they moved from the darkness of winter toward the light of spring, she said, it was important to hold onto hope and remember what all they had.
“This year, I’m thankful for our family, like every year,” Piper said. “For my wonderful, loving husband. For my talented boys. For my spirited nieces and nephew. For my supportive brothers-in-law. And for my sisters, who have always been there for me.” She glanced at Prue. “Especially when I didn’t expect them.” She continued. “And my hopes for the new year are that we will all stay together and remember how—” her voice caught. “—how lucky we are to have each other,” she finished tearfully, and then quickly passed the candle to Phoebe.
Phoebe took it and spent a silent moment centering herself, like always. “This year, I’m thankful for the peace and joy we’ve had together as a family. For my beautiful girls. And I’m thankful for this time I get to spend with Prue.” She beamed at Prue, who had tears running down her cheeks. In fact, almost everyone in the family was crying now, so Phoebe decided to lighten the moment. “And I hope next year I make lots of money.”
Everyone chuckled, and Phoebe quickly added, “And I hope that we all grow stronger and more confident in our power and our love for one another.”
She passed the candle to Leo, who passed it next to Chris (“I’m thankful I finally get to meet Aunt Prue so we can bond over our kick-ass power.”) and then to Paige (“I’m thankful to meet Prue and find her as warm and down-to-earth as I always hoped, while still being the hot, bad-ass goddess I was always a little intimidated by.”) and on and on until finally Prue was the last one holding the candle
“I’m thankful for this opportunity to see my family,” she said. “To see what we become.” Her voice caught, just like Piper’s had. “And I know now that I don’t have much longer left, but … I am so happy to see the legacy we have. And I’m sad, but I’m not afraid.”
She handed the candle back to Piper, who said, “So mote it be,” and blew out the candle.
Food and a much less quiet, more chaotic Christmas celebration followed. No one had bought presents for Prue, of course, but she still somehow ended up with elf ears, a sparkly Santa hat, several pieces of both store-bought and homemade jewelry, Parker’s old phone, and a lap full of chocolate coins. Phoebe and Paige’s kids sat around her in a circle listening to her tell stories while Piper filled and refilled everyone’s plates and Wyatt made a circle of white lights float over the Christmas tree.
As midnight approached, the younger children nodded off on the living room floor, while the men started discussing football. The sisters retreated to the kitchen to help Piper clean up.
Prue put an arm around each Piper and Phoebe. “I just want to say I am so proud of you guys.” She glanced at Paige. “And you too, although it sounds like you were always going places.” Paige grinned.
Phoebe put an arm around Prue. “We couldn’t have done it without you,” she said in a slightly higher voice, the kind she used to use when Prue was alive.
“Yeah, not without our big sister,” agreed Piper.
“Also, not to give too much away about the future—”
“I already know I die—”
“But you have some kickass astral projection stuff coming up. Also a demon wrestling match.”
“Ugh,” Prue said. “That makes me feel sore just thinking about it.”
“And Piper’s going to table dance!” Phoebe added.
“Don’t tell her that, it’s bad enough living through it once,” Piper said.
At midnight, the sisters, including Paige, went upstairs to the attic with Chris. To Phoebe’s surprise, Prue gave her nephew a tight hug. “Proud of you, kid,” she said.
Chris grinned broadly.
Another round of hugs went between the sisters. Everyone was crying again.
“I’m going to miss you so much,” Piper said, squeezing her eyes shut and burying her face in Prue’s shoulder.
Prue sniffed and wiped a tear from her cheek, but said, “You’ll see me again. Just, like, summon my ghost or something.” Piper let out a watery laugh as she released her.
She hugged Paige next. To Phoebe’s surprise, Paige was crying too. “It’s been so great meeting you,” she squeaked through her tears.
“You too,” Prue said, squeezing her tightly. “I’m glad to know the Charmed legacy is in such good hands, though.”
Last, she hugged Phoebe. Phoebe sank against her, inhaling the smell of her perfume that brought back memories of being in college and confused and in love with Cole and in awe of Prue. Prue kissed her hair. “I’m so proud of you,” she whispered in Phoebe’s ear. Phoebe could only blubber unattractively.
Finally Prue stepped back and smiled at all of them. “I love you guys.” She looked at Chris. “I’m ready.”
Chris handed her the Book.
“Hear these words, hear the rhyme, heed the hope within my mind,” Prue read slowly. “Send me back to where I’ll find what I wish in space and time.”
The triquetra on the wall suddenly glowed blue, and all the air in the room seemed to hum. Prue gave them one last smile, turned to the portal, squared her shoulders, and walked through the shape on the wall.
There was a sound like a gust of wind. And then Prue was gone.
***
Christmas present
Prue ended up back in the kitchen, looking at a now empty bowl of potion, trying to figure out both what had happened to it, and if she’d just had some sort of dream, and if those two things were related.
She raised her wrist to push her hair back and saw a childlike bracelet she’d never seen before around her wrist. Between pink and purple beads were some with blocky letters that said PEYTON.
“Peyton?” she said.
At that moment, Phoebe walked into the room. Her hair was blond and she was twenty-four. “My finals are supposed to be posted tonight, and I have no idea how I did,” she groaned, helping herself to one of the early Christmas cookies Piper had left cooling on the table after an afternoon of baking. “Are you prepared to continue supporting me if I flunk out and have to do college all over again in another two years?” Prue continued to stare at her bracelet. “Who’s Peyton?”
A small suspicion was growing in Prue’s mind. “Did you cast a time travel spell?”
“No, why?”
Prue held up her wrist and shook it. “Because I just time travelled. How else do you explain this?”
“Usually you don’t remember time travel,” Phoebe said. “Why do you think you went back again?”
“Something about too much cayenne in this potion… maybe? I don’t know, I just have a feeling, that’s all.”
Phoebe sat on the table and dangled her legs. “Do we need to go to the Book?”
“No, I … I think we should fine, as long as it doesn’t happen again.”
“Well, do you happen to have a feeling about my exams?” Phoebe said hopefully.
She meant it as a joke, but Prue looked at her, beginning to smile. She wasn’t quite sure why, but she was absurdly proud of her little sister.
Phoebe reached up to her face self-consciously. “What? Do I have something on my nose?” A small smile crept across Prue’s face. “No. But I think your exams are going to be just fine.”

When Piper woke up on Christmas morning, she was smiling. She knew that it was far too early to want to be awake yet, but she couldn’t help it. She’d been looking forward to the holiday for most of December and was determined to make it a memorable one. Her sisters and their families would be over for lunch, and they would have the big family celebration then, but the morning belonged to her and Leo and their kids. The thought alone made her happy, even if it was ridiculously early in the morning.
Leo stirred next to her in bed, reaching out for her with his eyes still closed. He pressed a kiss to her neck and Piper responded by kissing him on the nose.
“Morning,” he mumbled sleepily. “What time is it?”
“Early,” Piper whispered. “You don’t have to get up yet.”
Leo nodded and pulled her closer, encouraging her to press in close to his body.
“You don’t have to get up yet, either,” he said. “It’s warm in bed.”
“Uh huh.”
“Cozy,” Leo insisted.
“I want to get up before the kids,” Piper replied, smiling. “I was hoping to have at least one cup of coffee in peace before the mayhem descends. And I’ve got to get breakfast ready and make a start on lunch.”
“Already?” Leo complained. “You haven’t got five minutes to spare for a quiet moment with your husband?”
“How about you come downstairs and we both have a quiet moment with a cup of coffee?” Piper countered. “You can bring a blanket if you’re worried about the cold.”
Leo snorted and pulled her closer. Piper allowed it for a minute, enjoying the rare opportunity to cuddle uninterrupted before she sighed resignedly and pulled away.
“Leo, I’ve really got to get up.”
“We should put a coffee machine in here,” he grumbled. “Best of both worlds.”
“Maybe for next Christmas you can ask Santa for a minifridge as well, that way we can really make it feel like a hotel.”
“If we were in a hotel, we could order room service and we wouldn’t have to get out of bed at all.”
“And just ignore our three darling children?” Piper said, laughing. “Just try it and see how long they let you get away with it.”
“They ignore us!”
“That’s their job! Our job is to pay attention and their job is to ignore us until they need something.” She pressed a firm kiss to his cheek and tried to pull away again. “The beauties of parenthood.”
“They should really warn people about that before they do it.”
“There are no adequate warnings for parenthood,” Piper murmured fondly. “Now, are you going to let me up or am I going to have to resort to violence?”
“No violence on Christmas, Piper.”
“I’ll try my best,” she promised, “if you let me go make coffee now.”
“Later.”
“Leo—”
“Tell you what, how about you stay with me now and I promise to distract the kids for the entire duration of your first cup of coffee?”
“Yeah? And what do you get in return for such generosity?”
“Your love and affection, Piper,” Leo said, the hint of a smirk on his face as he finally opened his eyes. “That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
Leo’s hand crept slowly up the back of her shirt, rubbing her skin in soothing circles. Piper rolled on top of him with a grin and braced herself against his chest.
“You’ve got fifteen minutes,” she said, leaning forward to kiss him. “Make it count.”
An hour later, Piper was sitting calmly in the kitchen sipping her coffee while Leo attempted to prevent the kids from opening their presents before breakfast. From what she could hear, some heated negotiations were going on with Wyatt attempting to advocate for all three of them being allowed to open one present each before breakfast and then the rest after. There were accusations of unfairness and appeals to the spirit of the season. Leo had already resorted to the time-honoured tactic of desperate parents everywhere by yelling, “Because I said so!”
Piper knew that her brief window of peace and solitude was almost at an end, but she was happy to rejoin her family for the festivities anyway. She gathered a plate of waffles and another of sausages and bacon and left the kitchen, wincing a little at the abrupt increase in volume as she approached the dining table.
“Wyatt!” she called, drawing the attention of all of them. “Can you bring the eggs to the table, please?”
“But—”
“The sooner we get the food on the table, the sooner we eat and the sooner we get to presents,” Piper interrupted him, arranging the plates of food neatly. “Now move, no one wants cold eggs on Christmas morning.”
Wyatt darted into the kitchen quickly.
“Chris, honey, can you bring the bowl of fruit salad? Oh, and grab the maple syrup, as well. They’re both on the counter.”
Chris followed his brother into the kitchen and the familiar sound of bickering emerged soon after.
“Melinda, do you want to help Daddy set the table?” Piper asked her youngest, who nodded enthusiastically and began tugging Leo over. “Good, then we’re almost ready to eat.”
Piper dodged her sons on her way back into the kitchen as they both carefully carried their assigned foods to the table. She scanned the counter and quickly spooned some oatmeal into a serving bowl. Then she opened the fridge and retrieved the orange juice, whipped cream and milk, handing them smoothly off to Leo as he came into the kitchen looking frazzled.
“Coffee?” she asked him sweetly.
“Please,” he replied, leaning forward to press a soft kiss to her lips. “I’m exhausted already.”
“Pace yourself,” Piper said, making her way to the coffee machine. “You’ve got a long day of family fun ahead of you.”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way,” he called over his shoulder as he left the room. “Wyatt, get away from the tree!”
Piper heard the grumbling of her oldest child followed by the spirited interjections of her middle child, never one to pass up an opportunity. She smiled as she poured herself another cup of coffee and then retrieved a cup for Leo as well. She carefully arranged both cups of coffee in one hand and the bowl of oatmeal in the other, sweeping one final glance around the kitchen.
From the other room, she could hear Leo reminding the kids to thank her for her hard work when she came to the table. An almost unbearable swell of love and gratitude filled her chest and she found herself blinking back tears.
“Mom!” Wyatt called out. “Hurry up!”
“Yeah, Mom!” Chris added. “No one wants cold eggs on Christmas morning!”
With a laugh, she shook her head and left the kitchen, humming It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year under her breath as she went.

“How did you convince Derek to let you host a Christmas party at his loft?” you questioned, laying on Stiles’ bed as you crocheted. Stiles spun around in his desk chair and occasionally put more red string on his “murder board.”
“Because of my charm,” Stiles turned towards you, clicking a pen in one of his hands. You paused your crochet project to look at him with exasperation. “Okay, fine; I promised to leave him alone for a month and clean his car.”
“That sounds more accurate,” you chuckled, resuming your project. You let out a huff of annoyance as Stiles threw a paper ball at your head. “Why is this so important to you?”
“I thought you liked Christmas.”
“I love Christmas; I want to know what has got you in the overt Christmas spirit this year,” you asked pointedly. You started another row as Stiles let out a short breath.
“We’re all graduating, and I’m worried that we’ll never spend another holiday together again,” Stiles admitted, scooting his chair back to slap a new magnet on his board. You dropped your project, scooting to the end of the bed so you could look at Stiles. He refused to make eye contact.
“I’m not going anywhere,” you sighed, touching Stiles’ shoulder. “Even being friends with you couldn’t get me to leave this place behind.” Stiles smiled, covering his hand with your own. You knew Stiles was nervous that we would all go our separate ways and never speak again, especially with him attending the FBI academy in the fall. Even the people you knew Stiles would pretend not to miss (Liam, Isaac, etc.), as his friend, you were fully aware he would miss everyone.
“Y/N…thanks for always being my friend,” Stiles sniffled. You jumped off the bed to hug him, Stiles laughing as you almost tackled him.
“You’re my best friend, buddy boy– you can’t ditch me,” you collapsed on the ground at Stiles’ feet, a smile covering your face. “Now, what must we do to prepare for this party?”
“Well, Lydia has got most of it covered. I did manage to convince her to do one thing, though, as a gift for you,” Stiles held his hands in front of him like a movie villain, and you started to get very suspicious. You got back up on the bed, curling your legs into yourself as Stiles gave himself a drum roll. “I got Isaac to be your Secret Santa.”
“You what?” you screeched, eyes growing wide.
“Look, even though I think Isaac is the worst, I know you’ve had a crush on him for years. This is why he will be giving you a gift this year.”
“That’s not very secret.”
“I’m also setting up mistletoe all over the loft. There will be other casualties to my mistletoe plan, but I will happily sacrifice that for your happiness.”
“I…have no words,” you gulped. You liked Isaac since you first saw him, even before he became a wolf. And then he joined your pack, everyone started hanging out together, and your crush grew stronger. You jumped at the opportunity every time you got to do stakeouts or other missions with just Isaac. You didn’t believe that he liked you back, though. You were human, a lot quieter than the other pack members, and also prone to word vomit when feelings of awkwardness arose.
“This way, you’ll have something he got specifically for you.”
“Unless he gives me a gag gift because he doesn’t care.”
“If he does that, then he’s not worth your time. I’m saying that as your friend with the knowledge that you are a great person,” Stiles grins. He turns back to his laptop, feet propped up on the corner of the table and fidget spinner in his other hand. You had a slight smile as you returned to your project, and that smile didn’t leave your face as you spent the rest of the night with Stiles.
The party happened a week later. You, Kira, and Mason had spent time getting a bunch of decorations to make it look more festive and then left Lydia to boss Parrish around on where to put things up. Lydia had a vision; none of you dared ruin it. It gave you time to go home and get ready anyway. You dressed in a simple burgundy sweater with jeans and boots but bothered putting on more makeup than usual. You even clipped your hair back with some star clips you found in the back of your drawer. When you returned to the loft, your jaw almost dropped with how pretty it looked. Twinkly lights and tinsel covered the available surface area, and a tree was in the back with presents already stacked. There was a table with all the amuse bouches one could wish for, and the scent of cranberries and oranges filled the room.
“Happy holidays, Y/N,” Peter said from right next to you, giving you a minor heart attack.
“Someone invited you?” you exclaimed, earning an eye roll from Peter.
“I’ve been tasked with taking coats,” he sighed, already bored. You handed him your jacket and quickly left, not interested in being another meal. Malia was by the dining table eating all the different meats and cheeses.
“Merry Christmas, Malia,” you said, grabbing an olive and popping it in your mouth.
“Who knew food could be so fancy?” Malia mumbled, not taking a breather before eating more. She looked like a kid at a candy store, and it made you laugh.
“Food is still food, just prepared differently,” you responded. You watched in slight admiration as she chugged a glass of champagne before eating half a block of cheese. You wished for her metabolism so you could eat so openly.
“I like the pigs in a blanket the best,” a voice said behind you. You turned around and felt your heart catch as you saw Isaac, a slight grin on his face. He was dressed in a blue henley, and the lights reflected brilliantly off his eyes. “Although, I’m more a fan of the blanket.” He proceeded to suck off the bread part of the pig in a blanket, leaving you with a confused expression.
“Did you seriously just suck the bread off?”
“I said I was more a fan of the blanket,” Isaac answered, finishing the rest of his snack with an expression that read duh. Before you could react to whatever that was, you were handed a holiday cracker by Lydia, who was running around and gifting them out. These were wrapped in a green and gold floral print and tied with red ribbon. You held your cracker to Isaac, looking at him with a raised eyebrow. He took the other end of the cracker, and you both pulled, the contents exploding from inside. You happily picked up your kazoo and paper crown before helping Isaac open his Christmas cracker. You traded your kazoo for his deck of cards before putting your crowns on.
“Let me help,” Isaac said, positioning the paper crown on your head at the perfect angle. His fingers brushed down your hair as he stepped back, and you felt a blush coat your cheeks before you could stop it. “Look, now you’re a king.”
“Not a queen? Or a princess?” you asked cheekily.
“Pretty sure you could be whomever you want,” Isaac replied, hands in his pockets as he looked down awkwardly. For a boy who wasn’t always the best with words and frequently struggled to pick up social cues, he somehow managed to find a way to flatter you. Before you could respond, Stiles clinked his glass to alert everyone to Secret Santa starting. You found a spot on one of the couches, curling up into the corner. Malia sat beside you, offering you a candy cane she stole from somewhere.
“Thank you guys for bothering to show up today,” Stiles started, fingers anxiously tapping the side of his glass. “I’m happy to be included in this group of people, and…I don’t intend to lose you guys even when we graduate.”
It was one of the more severe things Stiles had ever said, and you could tell that it took a lot of willpower not to break into a joke. Everyone clapped and yelled kind things, though, and you knew it relieved some pressure from Stiles’ chest.
“Alright, let's start this party as we trash Derek’s loft!” Stiles clapped as Derek glared from the back. “Chill out, big guy; I was kidding.”
You had to give your friends credit; they put together some perfect gifts this year. You were excited as you had Kira the crochet fingerless gloves you had made in pink and black yarn.
“It has a mitten cover that you can button back,” you explained as Kira excitedly put them on and cooed over how soft the fabric was. Liam did try to steal them at one point before you promised to make him a pair.
You were shoving a cookie in your mouth when Lydia announced that it was your turn to receive your gift. Avoiding Isaac’s gaze, you watched as Lydia brought over a small box wrapped in brown paper with a silky ribbon. You anxiously untied it, carefully peeling the paper away. You were greeted with an emerald green velvet case that you opened with a small gasp. Inside was a simple silver chain with three different charms on it. One of the charms was the Celtic ruin for protection, another a car with a Christmas tree on top, and finally a coffee pot.
“I think I remembered that your family uses that sign for protection all over your home,” Isaac mumbled, a flush coating his cheeks as you finally looked up at him. “And the car is for when we were sent to get the Christmas tree, and you argued with the seller for trying to overcharge us. And the coffee pot is because of how you complain about needing coffee every time we hang out.”
You could feel your eyes tearing up as you looked at the thoughtful gift. Not only was it perfect, but Isaac gave it to you and put a lot of thought into it. You sat up, enveloping him in a hug that caught him off guard. Your face was buried in his shoulder as you inhaled the sweet vanilla scent that seemed to follow him. He tentatively hugged you back, bringing you in even closer.
“Isaac,” you sniffled, pulling away. “It’s perfect, thank you.”
The smile that covered his face was infectious, and you knew that if you sat there any longer, you would combust into giggles and likely start screaming (something Stiles has witnessed you do whenever Isaac would do something personal and pleasant for you). You excused yourself, exiting to the kitchen to get some water. As you poured yourself a glass, you also went to the hot cocoa bar and stole a snowflake marshmallow to nibble on.
“Are you okay?” you hear Isaac ask in the doorway. You turn to face him, softening at the look of concern coating his features.
“I’m fine,” you reassure. “It was just a perfect gift; I didn’t want to get too emotional.”
“I’m glad you liked it,” Isaac whispered, looking down at an invisible spot on the floor. “I wanted to get you something that showed I cared.”
“I know you care,” you smiled, leaning against the counter.
“I mean, like how I care about you,” Isaac breathed, slightly shaky. You furrowed your brows as your brain struggled to catch up. Isaac looked at you, waiting for realization to set in. When it finally did, your eyes widened to the size of saucers, and if the counter didn’t support you, you would’ve passed out. Instead of saying something, you glanced at the kitchen doorway's opening where Isaac was standing.
“Mistletoe,” you whispered.
“Huh?” Isaac looked confused, glancing around before finally glancing up. Conjuring courage you didn’t always have, you stepped right up to him and pulled him down for a kiss right under the mistletoe. He made a noise of surprise before finally placing his hands on your waist and kissing you back.
“Happy holidays, Isaac,” you smiled, pulling away and looking up at him from under your lashes. His hand cradled your cheek before kissing you again, this time with the confidence of a boy who found his footing. You melted into his embrace, arms wrapping behind his neck and burying in his hair. One of his hands held the small of your back while he preserved your jaw, deepening the kiss. You let out a happy sigh as you let Isaac kiss the living daylights out of you as you thought to yourself:
This is the best Secret Santa ever.

Christmas Fics 2023 (Part 8):
Keep It Like a Secret by PacificRimbaud - M, one-shot - He regards her with interest, cool as the ice in his G&T. “What do you want?” On close inspection, he's a bit deadly. It's the combined power of self-regard, an open ear, and a cunningly tailored suit. Hermione wants— “An expiration date would be nice.” She suctions up the watery dregs and signals for more. “Let’s say I want . . . a year. Exactly one year of monogamy without the possibility of further commitment."
When Love is Found by Biirdiee_Rose - T, one-shot - “You’ve read Charles Dickens— yes?” “Yes, I read Great Expectations when I started exploring muggle literature.” “Well, he wrote a book called A Christmas Carol.” She bends down to grab a few gifts from beneath the Christmas tree. “Ah, so we’re from the book then—” “Sort of,” She interrupts, “Then they made a movie of it with these little puppets called The Muppets, and it was my favorite.” - Hermione and Draco go to a muggle Christmas party with the theme to dress up from a favorite Christmas movie. Hijinks ensue.
Mutual, I'm Sure by LadyUrsa - E, WIP - If Draco Malfoy could have one wish in his life, it would be to not be a Veela. Wait, no. It would be to not have Hermione Granger be his mate. Fuck, at this point he would settle for Hermione Granger just being aware of the painfully obvious fact that she was his mate. But only as long as it resulted in monogamous bliss. And getting a cat. ** Two meddlesome best friends, two idiots who are bad at feelings, and a snow-filled Christmas reunion in Vermont. The only thing this White Christmas is missing are some musical numbers.
Cookies, Spice and Other Mushy Non-Practical Stuff by Trombones - G, one-shot - A very short Christmas Dramione one shot. Featuring your favourite Harry Potter snow man, a haughty but caring Draco and a Hermione that can't help but be won over by his charms.
The Well-Traveled Sage by MarinaJune - M, one-shot - Bookseller Hermione Granger, some shop holiday decor, and Draco Malfoy in need of a last-minute holiday gift.
An Ode To Falling In Love by Ada_P_Rix - M, one-shot - He gave her a lopsided grin then, his hair falling into his eyes as he looked down at her. "I think you're drunk." He observed her after a few moments, his eyes glassy as she rolled hers up at him. "And I think you'll regret the hangover in the morning." Hermione gave him a look that had him raising his eyebrows at her. "Amongst other things." "Well you know what they say, Granger-" Malfoy stumbled slightly, causing her to cling to his arm and pull him further against the side of her body as they walked along to the apparition point. "The truth always comes out when you're shitfaced," another grin from him had her shaking her head; Hermione had never witnessed him being this intoxicated before. "All kinds of nasty little secrets end up spilling out with the alcohol-induced vomit."
Santa Baby by Biirdiee_Rose - E, one-shot - “Now, if I were to say yes to this whole…thing, what do I get out of it?” She asks hesitantly, hating the way he perked up immediately. “My, my, Granger— how Slytherin of you.” She narrows her eyes and he relents, surely very aware he did not have the upper hand in the situation. “You’ve been shot down for funding time and time again for that very generous Wolfsbane project–” Now it was her turn to perk up, spine straightening as she leans over the desk, hands clasping as her brain puts together what he’s offering her. “If you agree to this, agree to being my girlfriend until at least after Christmas, then I will fully fund your Wolfsbane project for the next two years.” - Draco Malfoy needs a favor, and Hermione Granger seems to be the only witch around to fit the bill. Attempting to get out of yet another marriage contract, Draco tells his mother he’s dating the one and only Hermione Granger. One little issue, they’re not actually dating. With a good old fashioned bribe of funding the Wolfsbane Project she’s been trying to start for years, Hermione reluctantly agrees. No need to worry dear readers, it’s not like they’d develop feelings for each other or anything… Right?
The Christmas Party by arielle_reads - M, one-shot - Robards hosts a Christmas party for the Ministry but his gift-giving plan goes awry when everything gets swapped. Firewhiskey shots are introduced and Draco worries someone else will get the present he chose for Hermione.
Magical Merry Mistletoe by greyditto - T, one-shot - What happens when pureblood tradition, a Yule party, and a Secret Santa gift exchange all take place in the same event? Naturally, Draco's nearest and dearest conspire to get him what he always wanted...
Icy Truce, Warm Hearts by Serpent_Sortia - E, one-shot - The war has been raging for years but things are starting to go the Order's way thanks to the information provided by a spy high amongst Voldemort's ranks. Hermione is called out to meet the mysterious informant on a snowy Christmas Eve so he can deliver important news... until their meeting spot is compromised.
Messing with Christmas and How to Fix it by Astrangefan - not rated, one-shot - Hermione has been homesick for a home she no longer has. She finds some old decorations at Grimmauld and brings them back to Hogwarts. Draco likes what she's done, but says it in a way only Draco Malfoy can say and everything goes wrong. Now he has to come up with a grand gesture to apologise.
The Holiday by LunaLunaria - E, one-shot - A remix of The Holiday (2006) featuring cinnamon roll with hidden depths Neville Longbottom, chaotic manic pixie Pansy Parkinson, hyper-productive, seduce-me-with-your-brain Hermione Granger, and literary bachelor with a side of snark and sentiment Draco Malfoy.
Wolfsbane and Mistletoe by yes_a_witch - E, WIP - Seven years after her 8th year at Hogwarts, Hermione is feeling lonely. Ron and Harry are both happy with their new families, and her work is meaningful yet taxing. Though she has branched out and made new friends since school, none provide that sense of community she’s been missing. When Malfoy invites her for Christmas with the Slytherins everything changes in ways she never expected.
‘Twas The Night For Traditions (Some Old, Some New) by megiswritingsomething - M, one-shot - Christmas Eve traditions were sacred for Hermione, Draco, and Scorpius - such a shame Draco is nowhere to be found as the night drawls to a close… OR The one where Hermione reads ‘‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ to Scorpius while reminiscing about their Yuletide traditions. Meanwhile Draco is MIA on urgent Christmas-related business.

A Thing for Angels

Merry Christmas, @toxicanonymity! I'm your secret Santa for the Pedrostories 2023 Holiday event! I hope you enjoy your gift.
Summary: You and Dieter spend your first night together after a lovely Christmas date. It turns out you two may have more in common than you realize.
Pairing(s): Dieter x F!Reader, mentioned Dieter x Anika x Kate
Notes: This is my first time writing Dieter, and I hope I did our racoon boy justice. This is set after the movie, so Dee is trying to stay sober, but he and Anika and Kate are doing the poly thing, both inside and outside of their trio. Reader is mentioned to be like Anika in some personality ways, but doesn't have to look like her.
Warnings: Mentioned past alcohol and drug abuse, fingering, oral sex (f!receiving), slightest bit of edging, missionary PiV sex, aftercare, description of injuries, Dieter already being a bit lovestruck, mention of the pandemic
Tags: @toxicanonymity, @grogusmum, @writeforfandoms, @oonajaeadira, @phoenixhalliwell, @autumnleaves1991-blog, @blueeyesatnight, @hopeamarsu, @lavenderursa, @littlemisspascal
Anika and Kate had found their local chapter of sober poly events last month, and while they’ve both had plenty of dates, Dieter had been worried that he would strike out if he went to an event alone. Thankfully, at tonight's holiday gallery, he had met you – gorgeous, charming you. He briefly thought he might know you from somewhere, but even if he couldn’t place it, the two of you had a fabulous evening. Now, as you’re pulling him through the door of your house and into a bruising kiss, he knows he’s going to be thanking his wife and his lady for their diligence for weeks to come.
He doesn’t blame you for wanting to go to your place, not his – you’re dressed in a gorgeous outfit, but you’d mentioned near the end of the gallery showing that your feet were killing you. Dieter, as much as anyone, knows how important it is to get home and being able to relax. The relieved slump in your shoulders as you break away from him and get out of your heels doesn’t surprise him at all. You’d mentioned that you used to work an active job, and you’re still not used to not wearing sneakers all the time.
Your smile is somehow even more dazzling than it was at the gallery. “Well, this is the homestead,” you tell him. “It’s not the biggest, but it’s affordable and in decent shape.” Dieter sees what you mean. This apartment is small, but he can see that it’s well appointed and that you have a good workspace. There’s even room for a nice artificial Christmas tree that you’ve decked out in rainbow lights and candy canes.
“Need me to help with anything else?” he asks. You nod, and he moves behind you, helping you shrug off your coat and scarf. You’d worn a rather daring shirt tonight, and Dieter doesn’t miss the opportunity to nibble and bite at your neck once it’s exposed to him.
You giggle at his affections at first, but the laughter morphs into a low moan as Dieter trails his hands down your front, one cupping your breast and the other holding your belly. You’d known what the plan for the night was; Dieter had been upfront with you about that, but there’s a world of difference between anticipation and actually having a pair of competent hands on your body.
You can feel the warmth of Dieter’s breath as he chuckles against your neck. “You like that?” he asks. “You gonna be wet if I unzip those jeans and touch your pretty pussy?”
“Why don’t you find out?” You mean for your voice to come out sultry and husky, but the sound is more whining and desperate than you would have liked.
Dieter doesn’t seem to mind, and with practiced fingers, he gets your jeans open and pushes them and your underwear down your hips. You would worry about stumbling, but Dieter has a strong arm around you. “I gotcha…and how ‘bout that…” He takes a finger and slips it between your pussy lips. “Knew you’d be soaked…”
He knows that if he really pays attention, he could get you off right here in your front hallway, but you’ve invited him into your home – the least he can do is attend to you properly. As you whine in his arms, he rests his chin on your shoulder. “Can we go get comfortable?”
----------
Comfortable apparently means that within five minutes, you’re sprawled on your back, completely naked, gripping your bedsheets tight while Dieter feasts on your cunt. You know he knows what he’s doing, but it’s not just the technique that has your back arching with every swipe of his tongue. It’s the mix of sensations that’s bringing you to the edge over and over again – the coolness of your sheets, the smell of Dieter’s cologne, the way his messy curls are brushing against your thighs…Dieter is enjoying himself too, if the way he’s moaning into your flesh is any indication. “Fuck, you taste good…” he mumbles. “Like…like I don’t know what, but ‘s just perfect…”
“Deeeee,” you moan. “Dee, please, I wanna come…”
“Can you hang on for me, angel?” he asks as he pulls away. He hates withholding anything from you, but he can feel how hard he is and he wants you to get a proper ride out of him before the night’s over. “Wanna give you my cock…”
“Ok…” You scoot back, and Dieter takes the chance to shuck the rest of his clothes and crawl on top of you. In a different context, you might feel like a prey animal being pinned down by a lion, but there’s such a lightness in his demeanor that it’s more like a gentle rain falling on your skin.
“Hey,” you smile, cupping his cheek.
“Hey yourself,” he smiles back, and he turns his face to quickly kiss the inside of your wrist. “You still ok?”
You nod, and his grin widens. “Awesome – c’mere…” He hitches one of your legs around his hip, and you both groan as his cock rubs through your folds. “You ready for me?”
“Yeah…oh FUCK!” Your fingers dig into Dieter’s shoulders as he lines up and slowly pushes inside of you. He’s not so big that you’re in pain, but you always have a slight adjustment whenever you sleep with a new partner. Dieter kisses your cheek in reassurance, still maintaining that careful pace until he’s seated as far as he can go.
“Can I move, angel?”
“Please!”
“Good girl…” With that, Dieter sets a thorough but unhurried pace, feeling how your breath hitches as he passes through certain parts of your pussy. “That the spot?”
“Yes…” that whining edge is back in your voice, but again, Dieter doesn’t seem to mind. Instead he grinds deeper with his hips, making you cry out from the stimulation both inside and on your clit. “Yes yes yes yes!”
“So good for me…” he says, punctuating the statement with another thrust. “Dunno how I got so lucky…can you come for me?”You barely get the words out when you feel the knot pop behind your spine – your orgasm washes over you like a warm bath. You don’t normally come so quickly, but you certainly don’t mind – especially not when the handsome man above you looks like he’s not far behind you. You wrap your arms around him, kissing him deep as he spills inside of you.
--
A few positions and orgasms later, you’re asleep after having a nice hot shower. Dieter is staying the night, and he’s looking around for something to sleep in when he sees a photo of you in an EMT uniform in a frame on your dresser.
Suddenly it clicks for him how he knows you – years ago, you and your crew had saved one of his buddies when he’d fallen off a balcony during a nasty bender. George’s face had gotten plenty fucked up, but thanks to you all, he’d been prevented from a more gruesome injury. No wonder Dieter likes you so much – you make him think of Anika, cool in a medical crisis.
You hadn’t mentioned still doing that line of work when the two of you had talked earlier, and Dieter wonders if the stress of the pandemic made you leave the medical field. However, that’s a question for the morning. As he pulls on a large T-shirt and snuggles into bed with you, he starts mentally planning what he can make for breakfast. After all, what do angels eat?

Happy 28th! Here are all the lovely fics I read this month:
Temporary Fix | dbeaux | [234k] Whether it’s a company event, a date for the day, a hookup, a vacation companion, or even just someone to spend time with for a few hours, whether it’s formal, extremely casual, or somewhere in between, no matter what the requirements, you provide when and what your needs are and leave the rest to us. - Temporary Fix Harry needs someone to go with him to his parents' yearly event. After months of debating and one drunken night, he wakes up to find he submitted the application. He knows it's unfair to subject someone to his life, but when his eyes land on Louis, he finds himself drawn to him. Is it possible that Louis could be his saving grace? Louis doesn't need anyone. He's better off alone, so why did Zayn send in his application to Temporary Fix? Louis has secrets...lots of them, and he intends to keep them. After all, no one needs to know, but after he meets Harry he finds himself wondering if he can let go and trust again. Can Louis let Harry in? Can Harry accept him once he knows everything?
Behind Smoke Stained Curtains | jaerie | [19k] It was a particularly lonely night when Harry walked through his door with a flurry of snow. He was a little rough around the edges with a trucker hat pushed down over untamed long hair. He looked a little greasy, a shower definitely not in his recent past. His tan Carhartt work coat was smudged with dirt and oil and caked with grime, his hands shoved deep in his pockets. The scent was overwhelming as soon as he walked in, unmasked alpha from days on the road stewing in a cab of his own pheromones. Louis was sure it was so deep into the fabric of his coat that no amount of washing would ever truly remove the stench. The worlds align when Louis meets an alpha from the road with as many secrets as he holds himself.
see-through, need you | HoldingOnToChaos | [50k] Louis has a crush. He’s also a 19 year old virgin. Determined to get some experience before he goes out with his crush he enlists the help of his ex best friend—known in the university to get around, and star football player, Harry. Harry agrees to help Louis practice and learn, and Louis always has been a good student. -- OR the one where himbo Harry helps virgin Louis practice fucking.
Heart Beat | allwaswell16 | [33k] Hideaway Haven is the place that Louis has always called home. It's also the place that Harry had tried to leave behind him. When Harry returns to start a music academy in his hometown, he finds himself face to face with his high school crush—and his charming daughter who wants to learn to play the drums. A 2023 Advent Fic ~ Now complete!
Santa Baby (one little thing I really need) | we_are_the_same | [3k] When Louis himself had first heard those words - all the nurses at the A&E have a secret line to Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve-, not nearly long enough ago to be considered a child himself, but long enough that he hadn't really felt like an adult all the time, he’d laughed them off. Thought they were sweet, of course, but just a line, something said to appease the kids who ended up having to stay overnight. Something to explain the presents that parents brought to the hospital on Christmas morning, or that were waiting for them at home, if they were lucky not to have to stay any longer. Something that would allow a little bit of Christmas spirit in the sometimes sterile rooms of the hospital. But that was before he’d met him.
Ride My Sleigh Tonight | kingsofeverything | [9k] In exchange for free food and drinks at Liam’s office holiday party, Harry pretends to be his boyfriend. But this is not that story.
The Busker | Chelsea Frew (chelseafrew) | [7.5k] A snowstorm has trapped artist Louis at home on his birthday--Christmas Eve--and on Christmas. Louis anticipates a lonely holiday. A mysterious stranger appears on Christmas morning, however, and Louis doesn't have to spend the day alone. But where did the man come from? Why does he seem familiar? It's a Christmas mystery.
Sunlight and Shadow | Cryinginacoolway_2931 | [88k] Foster dad Harry isn't lonely. He really isn't. Caring for children in crisis is his calling, and he doesn't need anyone to help him. That is, until he does. Louis, a handyman who craves love and a family more than anything, might just be the missing piece he never knew he needed.
Where All Roads Lead | Rearviewdreamer | [7k] Harry's Christmas takes an unexpected turn when he discovers a misplaced holiday card in his letterbox. He never thought that braving the snow to return the card to its sender would be so worth his while.
Santa, Baby | Throwthemflowers | [16k] Nothing in Harry’s life has gone to plan. From giving up his art dreams in favor of a stable 9-5, to singleness, to a bought with cancer that left him infertile, Harry finds himself wishing for a Christmas miracle. When one seemingly occurs, Harry meets the sperm donor of his dreams and begin to imagine the impossible. But not everything with Louis is as it seems, and soon an elusive art agent is adding to the chaos of Harry’s very unexpected holiday season. Set against the backdrop of New York City, this hallmark-style rom com is filled with a bit of drama, a drop of angst, and a touch of Christmas magic.

Mini-blurb based on an answered ask by @sparkbeast20.
CW: blood and gore (in both the fic and the art).
would you lie with me (and just forget the world)
When taking out the trash, it’s more efficient to do it all in one go.
Karasu’s Confession Corner ✨
Seeing Karasu, one of Mammon’s crow familiars, at your windowsill isn’t an uncommon occurrence. He likes to stop by sometimes to hang out with you, but today he’s acting oddly for some reason…
Written for the OM Secret Santa 2022 event. Features Mammon x GN!MC.
let us die young (or let us live forever)
Life in the Devildom living with seven demon lords is pretty darn good. If there’s one thing you’re sure of, it’s that you’re loved, wholly, irrevocably, and forever.
Halloween 2022 fic.

Based on this scenario.
Bad Days ✨
You didn’t sign up to be their therapist, least of all their punching bag.

CW: suggestive content but nothing explicit.
crawl to the in-between (part 1, part 2, part 3/?)
While recovering from an attack within the HoL, MC slowly finds out that there’s more to the Devildom than meets the eye.
This AU’s still a work-in-progress, summary to be updated.
forever valentine
Satan gives you flowers every Valentine’s Day.
Spin-off from this scenario (spoiler alert!) with a V-Day twist.
soft kitty, warm kitty
You sing Satan to sleep.
Lyrics taken from Big Bang Theory.
cum laude (commissioned art here) ✨
Season 1 AU. Snapshots from a year in which the human exchange student actually acts like one instead of playing demon family therapist.
Dedicated to all the goody two shoes MCs out there.
Inner Demon ✨
The one where the human exchange student gets possessed by a lesser demon.
Crack-ish fic inspired by this post. CW: mild body horror.
Cuddle Puddle
Technically every week is considered “hell week” in the Devildom, but this particular one has Elleroy ready to throw in the towel and call it quits.
Written for the OM Secret Santa 2021 event. Features Satan x M!OC x Asmo.
of electric rodents and demon butlers
Pokemon AU. Wooing a demon butler who hates rats on principle is a little tricky when you have an electric rodent on your team.
Self-indulgent Pokemon AU.
so wake me up (when it’s all over)
Your demons turn against you.
Halloween 2021 fic.
hear me cry > original, alt ending ✨
The one where the brothers team up to catch you.
Inspired by the Masked pop quiz. CW for alt ending: violence, blood.
Into The Woods > part 1 (commissioned art here), part 2
It’s like with Lilith all over again. Hindsight is 20/20, but given the circumstances, Lucifer has no qualms repeating history.
Inspired by The Nature of Sin.
Unholy
You haven’t said a word since you were moved back into your old room, but that’s okay. You’re in one piece, your burns are healing nicely, and there’s cream in the medicine cabinet for the scarring on your wrists and neck. The charred, bloody stumps on your back can wait; all Luke cares about is getting rid of the damned marks those accursed bangles had branded into your skin as they melted off.
Inspired by an answered ask from @obeythebutler.
the years start coming and they don’t stop coming > part 1 (commissioned art here), part 2 ✨
In which Lilith’s return distorts her brothers’ perception of time.
The original replaced!MC AU except we have Satan on our side.
Keeper
"Will one million Grimm be enough?” / “...How much is that in human currency?” / “Good point. One million American dollars it is then. We can say we sold everything at a charity auction or something.”
Inspired by the Angelic pop quiz.
Schrödinger (commissioned art here) ✨
Many ghosts dwell within the House of Lamentation alongside its demonic inhabitants. One in particular takes sick pleasure in tormenting Belphegor. (Alternatively: when the you that disappeared from Mammon’s arms isn’t completely gone)

July is almost here and along with it, Christmas in July 2023!
This year's prompts are more detailed than previous years'. This event is open to every fandom, ship, and rating.
Have fun!
Advent calendar. Instead of chocolate, Person A is sent an Advent Calendar full of charming confessions, ending with "I love you" on December 24th.
It's better to give than to receive. Person A draws their crush Person B's name for Secret Santa. They're so concerned with giving Person B the perfect present that they don't realize their Secret Santa has done the same.
Binge. Single Person A spends a whole day watching Hallmark Christmas movies but instead of relaxing, they remind them that they are painfully single. What happens when Person B drops in out of the blue?
Make a wish. Person A does everything in their power to make Person B's dearest wish come true.
Naughty or nice? Being nice will get Person A in Person B's good graces, but being naughty is so much more fun.
Happy Holidays. Being forever single never bothered Person A before, but this year not having anyone to bring home for Thanksgiving rankles. Can they find true love before New Year's Eve?
Do you want to build a snowman? Person A and Person B would build snowmen together when they were kids. After they grew up, Person A moved away from their hometown for work. When they come back years later for the holidays, they're awakened one night by a snowball hitting their childhood bedroom window.
First snowfall of the season. Everyone's forgotten how to drive in the snow, including the guy who rear-ended Person A. Thankfully, Person B knows how to calm them down and will give them a lift.
Home for the holidays. Person A thought they'd be alone for the holidays but Person B (their secret crush) invites A to spend the holidays with them and their family.
Comfort and joy. It is Person A's first Christmas since a major loss and Person B does everything they can to make it a good one.
Make it sparkle. "You wrapped presents today." "How can you tell?" "The table is covered in glitter." "Ooops." "Did you wrap anything for me?"
Nobody loves you like family. Person A has been home for the holidays for all of one day but their family is already getting on their nerves. Person B offers them a chance to escape.
The most wonderful time of the year. Grinchy Person A hates Christmas. Can Christmas-loving Person B change their mind before Christmas Eve or are they a lost cause?
It's become a tradition. Perpetually single Person A and their equally single best friend Person B escape their respective families every Christmas Eve and spend time together. What happens when Person A brings someone home to meet their family?
Silent night. Person A has laryngitis at Christmas, it's up to Person B to take care of them. Thankfully, they know Person A so well that words aren't necessary.
White Elephant. Person A gets something at a White Elephant party that they neither want nor need, but they know Person B would love it.
Ghost of Christmas Past. Person A regrets breaking up with Person B years ago and is determined to win them back.
Office romance. Person A asks their SO Person B to host their office's holiday party but Person B would rather have a root canal without anesthetic.
Under the mistletoe. Person A is the last person Person B would want to kiss, so why does everyone try to get them under the mistletoe?
Peace on earth. Person A steps outside to get a breather from the boisterous gathering only to run into Person B doing the same thing.
Joy to the world. Person A goes to Person B to tell them some very good news.
Taste this. Person A is making their first big family Christmas dinner by themselves. Their SO Person B offers encouragement but is hopeless in the kitchen so they're the designated taste tester.
Blue Christmas. "Who breaks up with someone December 23rd?"
Do you hear what I hear? Person A is awakened to the sound of caroling outside their window, led by Person B.
It's a Christmas miracle. The least likely thing to happen, happens and at Christmas, no less.
A candle in the window. It's a cold December night and Person A is lost driving around an unfamiliar neighborhood. A candle in the window of a house convinces them to stop and ask for directions. The homeowner is their acquaintance Person B.
Winter Wonderland. Person A is snowed in with their crush Person B.
Many happy returns. Person A runs into Person B in line to exchange unwanted gifts.
Become one with the couch. Laid-back Person A convinces perpetual-motion machine Person B to just chill with them a couple of days after Christmas.
Milk and cookies. Single Person A leaves cookies for Santa as a joke. Someone ate them overnight and left a present under the tree. Could it be … their best friend Person B?
Out with the old, in with the new. Person A breaks up with their less-than-worthy SO on New Year's Eve. Does a kiss at midnight from Person B foretell a better year ahead?

AO3 Wrapped
Happy New Year everyone!! Although 2023 has been hard, it's nice to look back on everything we've achieved over the year before starting 2024. So here are all the fics I wrote this year!
Grishaverse
things we don't say (14k)
Inej's phone has been silent for two months.
OR
Inej and Kaz have broken up. Jan Van Eck has locked Wylan in the house and pulled him out of the university, preventing him from marrying Jesper.
There's only one logical solution to the two conundrums: a heist.
I love this series and this felt like a wonderful conclusion to characters I adore.
meet-cute (3k)
meet-cute
noun
(in a film or television programme) an amusing or charming first encounter between two characters that leads to the development of a romantic relationship between them.
One meet-cute isn't enough for Jesper and Wylan. Here's the story of their first two.
Inspired by the series, I thought I'd write a little bit of wesper fluff, never realising I may never see them again :')
dream of better nights (1k)
Nina hasn't fought so hard and so long to let Matthias stay in Hellgate.
I couldn't leave them apart like that!
Fairytale of Ketterdam (2k)
Kaz has dreamed of seeing Inej again for two years.
He wasn't expecting to find out she's coming home from an idiot. An idiot who's kidnapped him. An idiot who wants to ruin the Feast of Saint Nikolai by destroying Kaz's family.
Luckily, Dirtyhands - for the first time in a long time - has backup.
A little Kaz-centric fic for the Grishaverse Secret Santa!
The Last of Us
hold me close to your heart (2k)
Joel convinces Ellie to come back to Jackson before they rush into a cure. And in the meantime, he's tasked with the very important job of finding her new nickname.
AO3 went down immediately after I finished TLOU and then this happened!
Safe as Houses (7k)
Making it back to Jackson doesn't promise Joel and Ellie safety. But it does offer them one thing the open road didn't: a home.
This was so much fun to write... Joel and Ellie are just Tony and Peter in a different font!
Marvel
the ripples they cause (111k)
There is exactly one person who remembers the name Peter Parker, and that’s Spider-Man. Although the spell prevented the multiverse from tearing itself apart, Peter’s problems are far from over. The number of people calling for his arrest grows every day, and it’s not easy to live your life when you no longer exist.
Luckily for him, the apartment above him belongs to two really good lawyers, and they know every vigilante in the city. With their help — and the assistance of two Avengers intent on rising from the dead — Peter may just be able to find his way in this strange new world.
I started this in 2022, but finishing it in May this year was one of my proudest achievements. To write a novel-length fanfic and finish the ending I wish No Way Home had meant a lot, so thank you to all the wonderful people who commented and egged me on!
what it means to be a person (currently 28k)
Nearly a year after the spell that erased Peter Parker, he finds himself chained to his old mentor. Literally.
Tony Stark has been running from his memories of Thanos for two years, burying himself in work and spending time with the family he nearly lost. But when a cunning new villain kidnaps Spider-Man to get to him, they’ll have to work together to escape with their lives.
But Spider-Man is just a kid. A kid who seems to have the answers to every hole in Tony’s memory. And he’ll do anything to protect the one person who might finally let him rest.
I just love making everyone cry. Both at my update schedule and emotions.
According to AO3, I wrote a whopping 173,000 words this year! Here's to even more fanfic next year 🎉
