HER!!! I definitely had the most ideas story-wise for her that changed from the original canon out of anyone else in the cast

Obviously design notes under the cut-

Alright, a lot of this was trying to synthesize her MH and EAH designs together, but leaning towards the EAH side for reasons

Im also grafting MH Cupids personality onto EAH Cupid. I feel like she was wildly underutilized, and her only arc had to do with her crush on Dexter that I personally found irritating. So, I'm dashing that, and giving her back her serious business attitude when it comes to her job

She's very lively and bouncy and friendly, but she also has a disturbing capacity to be terrifying. Really taking after her Dad there.

Speaking of stealing MH traits, I'm giving her badass crossbow and pink eye glow back

Also! Apparently Cupid is a bone elemental, whatever the hell that means in the monster high world. I'm guessing that involves some control over bones, but I'm interpreting it a little differently. I wanted to keep it tied to Greek mythology, so I decided that, technically, her destiny is to be a psychopomp. Her natural magic revolves around the dead and guiding them to their final resting place, but because of her family she uses those natural inclinations to guide people to new relationships

The shawl with the wing shapes is enchanted to keep her wings hidden. They were given to her by Cupid, but they combined with her natural magic a little... Unsettlingly. When she takes it off the wings burst out and unfurl

She doesn't have a crush on Dexter, but they are super close. Dexter considers her his most trusted friend besides Darling. Instead of the gag being that Dexter is into Raven but Cupid is into Dexter, it's that Cupid is trying SO HARD to get them together, but neither one of them thinks that the other would like them because of wild self esteem issues, so no matter what scenario Cupid sets up neither of them do anything romantic. It drives her up the wall.

I like to think that she's aro/ace, but is still a total romantic. She just loves love! Even if romantic love isn't personally her thing

Also when she uses her natural magic her arms slowly turn black, like ink in a pool of water

Those headphones are permanent. Is she listening to something? Recording her podcast on the go somehow? Is nothing playing at all and she just wants to confuse people? Are they sound proof? You don't know!

Okay wait imagine what eah would be like if they chose another mh character to be the transfer

Like obviously it wouldn’t be any of the main ghouls but characters like Operetta, Rochelle, Elissabat, Jinafire - heck even astronova could have been instead of Cupid

I wonder why they chose Cupid. Because there are lots of other monsters who you could argue could be fairytales more than Cupid. Maybe Cupid was originally supposed to be an eah character but they decided to use her for mh and then didn’t really have anything to do with her in mh so they put her in eah.

Ok so…does anyone actually understand what C.A. Cupid is supposed to be? the only info i can find is that she’s supposedly some kind of “bone elemental” but i’m pretty sure that’s not really a thing outside of monster high. and what does bone elemental even mean? she’s certainly not a skeleton, but is her “flesh” made out of bone? in the same way an earth elemental might be made of stone? if anyone has any theories please let me know, but here’s my half-baked take:

Her monster species could be inspired by the Spartoi, a race of warriors made from the teeth of a dragon in Greek mythology. I believe they could be considered “bone elementals”, as they are physically made of bone. (but again if anyone has more fitting theories or corrections lmk lmao)

I don’t know too much of them, but their depictions seem to range from regular men to full on skeletons. why not compromise and say they could be something in between? a person with flesh that is made of bone? which seems like what a “bone elemental” would be. it wouldn’t be exactly accurate to the original myths, but monster high has always twisted its folklore and mythology around a little bit. (such as zombies being sentient, vampires able to not drink blood) plus, there’s this little paragraph on Cupid’s wiki page, i can’t speak for where this info comes from or how accurate it is but��

…if it’s true, it honestly sounds a bit like the Spartoi. i mean, created to care for dragons? they easily could’ve been created from the dragons teeth! like imagine the mother dragon gives a couple of her teeth to make into Spartoi to care for her children! that would be kinda cute & would make these mysterious bone elementals a little more grounded in actual mythology/folklore. but that’s just a thought that i have, & i really don’t know enough about greek mythology to say for sure, but it’s fun to theorize cus i always love expanding the world of monster high :3

They really missed out on CA Cupid, they should have made her face rounder (instead of giving her Ghoulia’s sculpt), they should have made her hair similar to the movie version, they never looked more into her bone elemental past, and they never gave her her crossbow and a dozen bolts from the movie either. Tut-tut. So I made it, seven or eight years ago, so it’s been squished and squashed in storage and the gold heart no longer moves back and forth. But! She looks pretty cool with it!

The crossbow was made with paperboard, thread, and computer paper. The bolts were made of paper clips, paper board, computer paper, and tissue paper.
