In addition to its other sins, capitalism is so inefficient and wasteful. It's like "get $200 today, but in 5 years lose $100 a week for the rest of your life."

The true cost of just one environmental pollutant, say lead, or PFAS, can be hundreds, thousands, or even millions of times the profit derived from their use, and yet if a capitalist can externalize those costs and pass them on to others (stealing), they do.

It seems like a good time to post this story I wrote...

They always made sure that the man in the lab coat was white and over 40 when he led the Senator into the lab. He gave the Senator the standard introduction about research protocols, about how important the experiment was and the fact that Senators, Billionaires, and other Elites were best to be studied to find out how the best kinds of people think. He sat the Senator down at the little table and pushed a button.

The wall panel at eye level flashed and revealed a screen. The screen showed a bird’s eye view of a bustling city sidewalk. The view appeared to be coming from a camera hovering and flying above. The Senator at the table looked at the screen and watched it with a bored look on his face. The man in the lab coat affixed electrodes to the Senator’s head, explaining that they were going to read brain activity during the experiment.

The man in the lab coat produced a small remote with one button. “If you push this button, you will get a million dollars.” The Senator looked at him with interest. “But the drone filming,” the man in the lab coat gestured to the screen, “will shoot and kill someone on that sidewalk.”

“Would I get arrested?”

“No, this is a military drone is flying over a Middle Eastern city. Most of the people down there are civilians.” The man in the lab coat placed the remote down on the table. “I’ll leave you alone, so you can decide what to do on your own. The reward will come out of a slot in the room—there’s no way for anyone to know which button you pushed unless you tell them. Knock on the door when you’re ready to leave.” The man in the lab coat left the room.

The man in the lab coat heard a soft beep on his monitoring equipment. He grabbed a clipboard and walked into the small room.

The Senator’s body was slumped on the table, completely lifeless. The man in the lab coat wrote something down on his paper. He looked almost like he was smirking. They were eight for eight so far.

Homelessness is a threat used by capitalists to keep you working hard for less than you are worth so that they can live comfortably off the excess wealth that you generate for them.

For the wealthy to feel secure in their affluence they must ensure that society is structured so that those who work are afraid of destitution. They will do anything to keep social safety nets from staying in place or being developed because your fear is their profit.

You will work for less because you do not want to lose your home and become stigmatized and rejected by society. It is the goal of American Capitalism to control you by fear, and then soothe you with the notion that you are somehow better than people who make or have less than you.

It is a lie they tell- that you made all the "right" decisions whereas someone else made bad decisions and therefore homelessness or poverty is their punishment. Wrong. This can happen to anyone. You can do all the things you were told would lead to affluence and still become a victim of circumstance and lose everything.

If we do not help those who are struggling, if we do not care for our fellow humans and provide what they need when life gets hard, we are not just hurting them but also ourselves, because we are still being controlled by that fear, and letting ourselves be the tools of the wealthy individuals who use us.

The way that Shadows House is about how the rich exploit the poor and desperate for everything yet that exploitation isn't innate; the fact that exploitation is taught to their children and how the shadows are meant to dehumanize their """living dolls""" and try to stop them from maintaining individual personalities while the soot children themselves are given form in these poor children's likeness. The fact that living dolls drink "coffee" and that's what brainwashes them into being completely compliant and dependent on the ideology of the Shadows being superior to them in every way and thus the House cannot be questioned. The fact that shadows are meant to steal their human "doll's" very face in the process of becoming an adult. The fact that becoming an adult means killing someone deemed "lesser" than you. The fact that what's truly seen as radical are the shadow children who decide Not to exploit and harm their dolls, who treat them as individuals, cherished family, and dear dear friends. The fact that for a shadow to become an "adult" they have to kill this cherished person. I am Thinking So Many Thoughts
