I gotta say, I’m confused by the idea I’ve seen a couple times that it reflects badly on Jimmy that in “Bagman,” he didn’t use the thought of Kim to motivate himself until Mike put the idea in his head. Jimmy is not nearly as hardened as Mike, and he was nearly delirious from heat, exhaustion, and the traumatic events of the previous day. He simply was not in his right mind, and I can’t blame him one bit for not being able to see beyond his own fear and pain. To me, the fact that he had to be told to think of Kim doesn’t say anything about Jimmy’s feelings for her. You know what does say something about his feelings for her? The fact that Mike’s advice worked!

The Forgotten-6
Pairing: Lucifer x Butterfly!fem!reader
Fandom: Hazbin Hotel x reader
Warnings: takes place before Hazbin Hotel, Alternative Universe
Navigation /Seven
Lucifer's life was miserable after falling from grace, the worse part is the woman he loved , Lilith abandoned him,she broke it off with him after two thousand years together.
Now he usually just goes with the other deadly sins, mostly going to the Lust ring.He Indulge in temptations of lust after Lilith left him.
He just indulge in alcohol, may have a few hook ups with different succubuses here and there but no one caught his eye to replace the gaping hole Lilith left in his heart.
he thought he wouldn't find anyone to fill the void until...
Lucifer felt tingling sensations, he knew what it meant. He doesn't want to ,but he is force to go because of his Punishment. He can only see the bad side of humanity,he only wanted was best...
He was engulfed in red smoke,he being summoned to the human realm.
He appeared in a dark room,he was standing inside of a pentagram. He was so tired of this, but there was nothing he could do.
He saw a poor baby lamb infront of him,the poor creature has died due a slash to it's throat.
There were a lot of people in cloaks...
"Oh The Great King of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar-"a man started by Lucifer cut him out.
"let's cut to the chase, I'm a very busy demon..."to be honest Lucifer knows that this were the same people who always summoned him before...
No wait maybe same bloodline it's been a long time...
"yes my lord!we offer you a bride!a virgin!-"
"I'm not interested...and thsi completely waste my time,a bride?why would you think i needed- you know what I'll just go" he transported out of there a fast as he could. He fell down on his knees near an apple tree.
Seriously!
They killed a poor lamb for what to be fucked by the Devil!, that's an stupid to do.it wasn't even any other lamb , it's a newborn.
This what i get for what i done!
He didn't even he was crying until he felt something wet fell onto his lap. He didn't want any of these,he didn't want to be miserable.
"Please i beg ,i want to be happy..."
He just hugged his knees and sob quietly. He knew someone like him doesn't deserve happiness.
He felt something soft brush his leg,he looked up and saw a...
Cat?
It meowed and went closer to him, usually animals are scared of him, they would snarl and bark.
But this cat seems to persistent to be with him...
He was hesitant in touching the cat,he was trying to reach but he stopped midway.the however leaned forward and his hand touched it's head.
He smiled at this,it was like there was something magical about this cat.
"hello?" He heard a wonderful voice called, it sounded music to his ears (a/n: ears what ears 😭😭)
He then saw a beautiful woman, she has beautiful red long hair, turquoise eyes, red round marks on her cheeks...
It's like mine...
And she was really tall...
"hi?"
from the simple greeting bloomed a friendship, Lucifer saw you as a burst of sunshine in dark times.
He did question of how didn't react to his name, usually they would cower in fear.
But you ,you stayed with him without any fear. The things he like about was you tried to always make me happy or laugh.
But his worst fear came when you looked at him with disgust.
When you saw him in his demon form...
Your the only person that he doesn't want to push away, from all of his mistakes it looks like you were a gift.
He didn't even realize it himself of how important you are to him...

[Image description: Two pieces of Better Call Saul fanart depicting Jimmy McGill as a cat-boy and Kim Wexler as a dog-girl. In the first image the two are walking with linked arms. Jimmy has brown cat ears and a tail and is wearing a shiny purple suit, a yellow shirt, red shoes, and a black tie with a repeating Hatsune Miku pattern on it, and giving Kim a cat-like smile. Kim has upright yellow dog ears and a tail and is wearing a black suit and shoes and a blue blouse underneath. She is grinning with her eyes almost closed. Both are slightly blushing. It is painted with warm colors and there is a solid pink background.
The second image depicts the same characters sitting on an unseen surface, cuddling and holding hands. Jimmy is wearing a gray hoodie that has a circular logo with a red among us bean in it and the label “university of,” with the bottom part being cut off. Kim is leaning on his shoulder wearing a pink hoodie, and Jimmy’s arm is wrapped around her back. They are watching an unseen television with content expressions. Purring sound effects are attributed to Jimmy. It is more roughly painted than the first image with less saturated colors, but still a comfortable mood. End ID]

STRAYKIDS AS PETS
(Maknae Line)
Synopsis: How you met him & how it’s going since. (Either dog or cat)
Warning: fluff, mentions of abandonment but of angst not much
Pairing: skz x reader (gender neutral)
Jisung:
Tumblr media
Sheltie dog he is. You met Jisung at a festival. They were selling dogs for a cheap price and most of the people crowding the center were looking to get puppies. Jisung happened to be the only adult dog there. With a huff, he stayed in his cage rather than run around in the small fenced area the other pups were doing. In his mind, he always thought that he would never get adopted. He wasn’t pet material enough for anyone to have any interest in. Or lovable enough at that. Deciding it was best to just try to get some sleep. That was until a group of college teens had passed by. Most of them awed at the cute puppies. You on the other hand saw Jisung in his crate. You didn’t know what to exactly call it, maybe fate but you really wanted the attention of Jisung’s rather than the pups. Making kissy noises to grab his attention. Jisung looks up and sees you crouched down. Your hand out to him, confused. This was the first time in months since he has gotten any sort of attention from a stranger. “Hi” you say softly at him. Jisung slowly gets out of his crate and makes his way over to you. Letting you pet him, you felt how soft he was. His beautiful brown eyes captivating you.
“You should take him.” The man who worked in the sale for pets said. “He’s been with us ever since he was a pup. No one even glances at him simply because he’s older than the puppies.” Jisung felt his heart race. Will this be the day? Will he finally have a home? He didn’t want to get his hopes up but no matter how much he tried to tell himself not to, he couldn’t prevent his tail from wagging vigorously. “Oh I...” you seemed hesitant to say yes. You didn’t expect to adopt a dog especially since you never owned one or taken care of one. You’re more of a cat type of owner. In fact, you have a cat back at home named Minho. Jisung’s tail slowly came to a halt. He knew it. He wasn’t getting adopted today or ever at that. Lowering his head, he tried to ignore the pang feeling in his chest. He really was getting used to the feeling of your soft hands petting his head softly. “Oh alright.” Almost snapping his neck for how fast he lifted it, he saw the bright smile on your face. “Great!” The man said. Jisung couldn’t believe it. He finally has a home, a human to look out for him. Or scratch that, a human he can look out for. Oh how he always wanted a human to give all his love and affection to. He couldn’t keep it in any longer. Jumping in glee, he covers you in sloppy wet kisses. Even if you groaned and tried to get him to stop, he couldn’t. That’s just how happy he was. Jisung absolutely adores you. A lot of the time you will see him admiring you from a distance, if not he’ll even sit by you and just stare. At first you found it weird but you got used to it. That’s how much he loves you. He’ll stick to your side a lot. Minho teases him for being such a clingy dog but he can’t help it. He adores you so much it hurts to be away from you. He has severe separation anxiety. Minho knew immediately the first day when you had gone to work, Jisung looked like he could lie dead any second if he didn’t see you or hear your beautiful voice. Now every time you go out, Minho doesn’t think twice. He goes to him and comforts him, tries to distract him until you come back home. When you do come home, the both of you spend the rest of the night comfortably in each other’s presence.
Felix:
Tumblr media
Felix is most certainly an orange tabby. Your sister had a female tabby who was in fact Felix’s mom. When she gave birth to a litter of three Felix immediately had gotten attached to you. It had gotten to a point where he would neglect his mom, siblings and your sister to just be with you. Once when you had to go home, he had escaped and managed to get in your car. It wasn’t until you got the the first stop light where you heard the soft meow come from him. Squealing as you turn around and we’re met with his small self. Tilting his head as if to say he had no idea why you were so shocked to see him. You made a u-turn and had to bring him back, even though you didn’t want to but you knew it was for the best. Besides, Felix wasn’t yours and your sister seemed pretty attached to the cats as well. When coming back, your sister let out a breath she was holding in. Relieved, but seeing you hold Felix softly and carefully in your hands, she just knew how much the bond you and Felix made was a lot stronger than she could ever make with him. Your sister decided it was best if you kept Felix so you agreed without hesitation.
For over three years now you two have grown closer than ever. You know him like the back of your hand and so does he. He knows your every move, your routine, your thoughts. How you’re feeling, everything. He’s always prepared. He seems to know exactly how to cheer you up and keep you company. One thing that he doesn’t like, is the constant smell of other animals on you. Since you work at a veterinary clinic, you deal with all sorts of animals. So when you come home and he smells all the animals, he immediately rushes to you to scent you all over again. Wanting his and only his smell on you. When you get stressed, Felix knows to give you space so he usually naps on the couch until you cool down. But if he sees you’re about close to break down, he immediately rushes to your side. Running his soft small head to your hand, he loves being engulfed in your arms. Running his head in your chest as you pepper him in kisses and hold him close to you. Falls asleep in your arms, gets real whiny when you let go though. Over all, loves you so much that he hates just the mere thought of ever seeing you cry.
Seungmin:
Tumblr media
This baby is most certainly a brown Labradoodle. It all started when you were at the carnival your city has every year. Seungmin’s pals (Jisung, Chan & Changbin) already have owners. Since they’re all pretty protective of their human, they had gotten out of their homes to spy on their humans to make sure they were not in trouble. Since no dogs are allowed, they walked to the sides and crawled under the trailers. Eating any of the corn dogs/sausages people dropped on the floor. Seungmin didn’t have an owner. In fact, all four of them were strays at one point. The three of them had found a home & Seungmin was the only one left. It’s not that he wasn’t desirable, believe me so many families/people wanted to adopt him at the foster home they were brought to when getting caught by the pound, nice woman she made sure the four of them didn’t get put down if not possibly adopted or picked up. But Seungmin always refused. He just liked being a stray dog. A lone wolf. Anytime they would adopt him, he would give them so much trouble to the point where they would come back and return him. It’s been two years and it’s still been that way. The boys still come out to see him. After a while, Seungmin had left the foster house and just wanted to live on his own. Maybe even leave the city for a while and see what’s out there. But that idea was cut short when the boys had convinced him to come with them to spy on their humans. He couldn’t help but roll his eyes as they coo’ed at the laughs their humans made. Conversing as they waited in line to get on a ride.
Looking around, he saw all the different people there having fun. Well all except you. You see, you weren’t exactly in a healthy friend group. You were in a group of three and the two other girls seemed to have kept you out of everything. You were standing behind them as they talked as if you weren’t even there. The ride could only let two people on at a time and when it got to your guys turn, you just now realized it and had to get out of the line given that you had no one to ride with. “Sorry” your toxic friends said nonchalantly as they got on. You crossed your arms as you nodded at them. A way to say ‘it’s alright’ even though you didn’t feel alright. You trailed behind them most of the time there and they hadn’t even realized you were there. You felt like a ghost. So you left, not like they cared. You went to buy a hotdog and sat down at the benches they had for people to sit and eat. As the boys were going to leave to go under another trailer and follow their owner’s Seungmin stayed behind. He felt...bad. Which is unusual for him since he usually doesn’t care for humans at all. “Seungmin?” Chan says, “huh?” “You coming?” “Oh yeah.” As they walk off, Seungmin did as well but in the other direction. When getting closer the frown on you only gotten bigger. God, how he hated seeing that frown on you. Walking under the table he poked his head out. Never once has he acted cute but I guess there’s a first time for everything huh? “Oh hey there. Aw are you hungry?” Letting out a soft bark, you share your hotdog with him as Seungmin happily eats the other half you gave him. You rub his head softly, your fingers feeling nice on his head. You felt bad that you had to leave him but you didn’t even realize he was following you until you got out of the carnival. The boys didn’t understand what Seungmin was doing until they saw you. Hope started rising in them. Hope that you would give him a home just like their humans did to them. Since your friends gave you a ride, you had to walk home. Luckily it was only a few blocks away but still you didn’t like walking alone. Hearing the constant click on the cement knowing it wasn’t you, you look behind you and see the brown Labradoodle. A bright smile plastered on your face. He didn’t know what he was doing nor what came over him but as soon as he saw that smile on your face he knew it was his duty to continue putting more smiles on your face. 3 months as passed by and you cut your toxic friends out of your life. With the help of Seungmin of course. He kept barking and growling at them every time they got near you. His black collar with gold writing of his name around his neck. His matted hair now freshly cut and combed. He smells like vanilla and he has a decent sized home with a large bed just for him, (even though he sleeps on your bed. You don’t like that his fur gets on your bed but he still sleeps on it without you knowing) Min absolutely hates seeing you stressed &/or upset. He usually gives you space until he knows you’re ready for cuddles. Then that’s when he slowly crawls his way to you and nuzzles his head under your arm for you to hug him. What a surprise you had when you opened the door one morning and saw three dogs sitting in front of your porch. Barking behind you, looking back and there was Min. Tail wagging as his tongue sticked out. You couldn’t understand what they were saying but it was clear as day that the boys were congratulating Min for finally finding a home and a lovely human to care for.
Jeongin:
Tumblr media
Now, Jeongin. I see him as a Corgi. You met him at the shelter. You were actually there to adopt a cat since you grew up around them more than dogs and just felt like adopting one that day. As you were walking down the hall and looked at the animals locked up. You felt pity for all of them, oh how you wished you could adopt them all. As you walked by, Jeongin caught sight of you. His tail started thumping on the floor as his head peaked out a bit to get a better look at you. ‘Wow’ he thought. He frowned when he saw you crouch down and start petting a kitty. Scoffing, ‘that should be me’ Jeongin thought. “That should be me” Jeongin says. Obviously to himself. His barks starts to get louder to the point where he started causing a scene. The man who was showing you the variety of cats huffs as he apologizes to you. Walking over as he yells at Jeongin to be quiet. Jeongin lowers his head as he gives up. You on the other hand caught a glimpse at him and wanted to get a better look at him. Walking away from the cats, you approached the man. As he goes to apologize for the inconvenience, you crouch down. Making noises to grab Jeongin’s attention. His head perks up as he sees your beautiful self right in front of him. Getting up immediately as he rushes over to you. Damn door getting in the way of you two. His small tail wagged as his short legs tried to touch you. Wanting to do nothing more but be in your arms. Oh how much he wanted you to chose him. For a while there you were petting him. Keeping him entertained as he kept you entertained as well. In the end, you knew he had to come home with you. He felt sad when you walked off and thought ‘That’s it? No goodbyes?’ But his life was complete the second he saw that same man start to unlock the door with you behind him. Rushing over to your legs as he circled around you. Jumping on your legs as a way to tell you, ‘carry me’ It’s been three weeks since you adopted Jeongin and things couldn’t get better. He still has to adjust the new area. Seeing that he’s gotten used to the same four walls keeping him entrapped. He didn’t know how much space there was in the world. Oh and the car rides, 1000/10. Gets very grumpy when you don’t take him with you for any errands to be made. Still gets a bit confused when you tell him bad dog for peeing in the house. But if not peeing inside means that you remain content then he’ll gladly give that up. He growls softly at you when you tease him for his little legs. The trouble he has when jumping on the couch or bed. Thankfully you bought him small stairs making it easier for him to get on. The boy loves you dearly seriously. He starts howling when you take too long in the bathroom because he’s easily bored. And if you’re watching tv and he doesn’t find it interesting, he pushes your leg with his paw. Urging you the change the channel until he’s satisfied. Overall, loves you so much and your 540/10 best human to him.
(So sorry Felix’s was a bit shorter than the rest I couldn’t think of other ways to keep his as long as the others!)

Noragami Reverse Bigbang 2021
Hello! This is my piece for this year's @noragamibigbang. The idea for this fic came from @littlessushi who was my partner for this reverse bigbang. Please make sure to check out her beatiful art! As this was the first time I participated in a reverse bigbang I was quite nervous at the beginning but thanks to my partner's help it was a really great time and I enyojed the writing a lot. Have fun reading! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ »That’s all. Thank you very much.« The young woman took the bag in front of her, bowed politely and left the supermarket she often used to visit on her way home. Right after stepping into the already fading sunlight that warmly lit the surroundings; she stretched both her arms high up into the air, closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. It had been a tough day so far.
Since she had finished medical school and started to work at the local hospital some weeks ago, starting from tomorrow she had her first days off, so she could take things easy today.
‘Alright, Hiyori’, she told herself, ‘time to head back home, get some warm tea and a blanket and just chill on the couch.’
Meow…
Surprised she lowered her arms and opened her eyes to look around.
»Meow…« It took her quite some time to get a glimpse of a tiny black cat. It sat on top of a trash can cover and had its eyes strictly focused her way.
»… me…ow…«, the sound coming out of the small mouth got quite a bit lower after she took some steps into the small cat’s direction.
»Don’t be afraid…«, she smiled, stood still and squatted down while leaning forward a bit. At first Hiyori feared the cat would jump up straight away and run, but it just kept watching her, then the black head rose, the cat closed its eyes and the tiny black nose started to wiggle.
»What’s wrong?«, she asked, knowing well a cat wouldn’t answer. Instead it opened both eyes in an instant: »Meow!«, the big green eyes were now focusing the white bag Hiyori just bought. The woman smiled, stood back up and put one hand into the plastic bag.
»Are you hungry? I only bought some buns, you know?«, she laughed and held a piece between her fingers, so the small animal could reach it without any trouble. When their eyes met again, Hiyori’s smile vanished in an instant and she froze.
Even though the weather hadn’t changed the slightest, the sound of raindrops falling onto the ground reached her ears: raindrops that hit the ground, the roof, the rain drain, her umbrella and the trash can cover.
“I will keep my promise!” Her own words echoed in her ears, “I will never ever forget about you…!”The young woman shuddered and held her breath.
»Ya…to…?!«, she whispered while barely getting any kind of sound out of her mouth and took a closer look at the pair of light green eyes that carefully watched her. The bun she just held dropped on the floor. Just one second ago, Hiyori believed that the cat’s eyes’ colour had changed from green into a deep and light blue – but she was wrong: It was still the same.
‘Why …?’
“Will you really keep that promise, I wonder…?”
Not caring about some people who would probably think she had gotten crazy, Hiyori let the entire bag fall on the ground, turned around and ran.
The park she just entered was still filled with people, mostly families and friends. Many of them already started to prepare their way home, but some were still enjoying their time together. The cherry blossom trees throughout the city had just started to bloom and drew everyone’s attention towards them. Tiny pink petals were dancing through the air, swirling around and lightening everybody’s mood, or so it seemed.
Countless children were running around, screaming and dancing with both leaves and their friends while on the other hand older people were sitting on blankets, drinking, chatting and laughing with their beloveds and family – meanwhile Hiyori was still caught in her thoughts, not fully aware of what just happened or where she ran to.
It was only some minutes later when she finally recognised she ran quite a distance. She abruptly stopped and leaned against a trunk, her eyes still closed to get back a hold of her breathing.
As her emotions calmed down and the surrounding sounds started to reach her consciousness again, she carefully blinked and reopened her eyes. Even though she could still feel her heart pounding against her chest, her breathing tempo went back to normal and her brain had started to work properly again. Even her hands had stopped shaking.
‘What’s wrong with me, all of a sudden?’ She led out a heavy sigh and watched the children play on the grass right in front of her eyes. Hiyori couldn’t help herself but bring back a smile to her face. It felt like ages, since she last went out for a walk during the Hanami. When she was younger, she used to go out with her family and play with her brother and friends like those kids did just now. Later, when she entered middle school, she used to come visit the blooming trees together with her friends, but since she went afar to study to become a physician, she simply didn’t have the time to take a relaxing walk around the park.
Just now, when her eyes tried to follow the petals swirling through the air, she felt like a heavy weight was lifted from her chest – a feeling she hadn’t felt in quite a while. Like a vanishing mist that lay upon her soul for the past… days… maybe weeks… or even years?
»This place sure is amazing, isn’t it?! We definitely have to come back here again next year!«
»You bet we will!«
»For real?! It’s a promise! You better not forget, okay?«
»Of course I promise. How could I forget something that important?!«
The three people, walking by Hiyori who still leaned against the trunk of one of the biggest cherry blossom trees around, laughed and giggled up until she lost sight of them.
»… a… promise…?« Hiyori murmured, softly pushing her body away from the cherry tree trunk. Slowly she continued her way through the park, passing by several trees – some of which were lit by nearby street lamps that had just been switched on one second ago. As she moved on, the amount of people crossing her way decreased, until she finally found herself at the edge of the park, looking over a beautiful riverside, while the sun had continued its way, so it was just about to touch the ground in the far distance now. This caused the white and pink petals swirling around Hiyori’s body to be touched by the fading sunlight, turning the already beautiful view into an even more mysterious one. The tree right beside her, which had its trunk wrapped up in a mat of straw, didn’t seem to be one of the strongest or biggest ones she passed today, nevertheless its petals rained down and spread across – some of them might even reach the other riverbank.
She carefully approached the tree and put her palm on top of its somewhat familiar bark.
‘So warm…’ She lifted her eyes and waved her gaze to the treetop. In an instant she could feel a fresh breeze of wind playing with her hair.
“The Sakura’s in full blossom.”, her own voice echoed in her ears. She shrugged.
“Whoa… they sure are pretty!” It was the voice of a young man, maybe still at a kid’s age. Startled, Hiyori took some steps back from the tree she just put her hand on and searched her surroundings.
“They are… Let’s come back next year, too, okay?!”
“Definitely…” The blonde boy beside her, his eyes sparkling in joy, nodded, still gazing at the big cherry blossom tree. Just one second later he snapped out of his current mood, turning his attention to the back while shouting: “Yo – You dumb old stalker. We did you a big favour by letting you come with us, so you better be careful!” Following his voice, Hiyori turned around as well. Some meters behind them stood a young man dressed in a black track suit. His gaze was locked on the cherry tree as well, but in contrast to the boy, his eyes didn’t sparkle, nor was there any joy visible on his face. His expressions hadn’t changed since Yukine spoke to him, he didn’t even spare a glance on the two. Hiyori couldn’t help herself but feel unease: It was rare for him to put up that kind of face. She wanted to ask him, wanted to know if something happened she didn’t know about, but on the same time she didn’t find the right words to do so. His mind seemed to be in a place far away from here, would he even bother to answer?
Then suddenly, he started to mumble some words. Not loud enough to understand completely, even though she really tried. The wind made the young man’s black hair cover his eyes, so she couldn’t get a hold of his expression anymore. ‘What’s wrong??’ Just as she started to make a move to turn around and walk in his direction, some of his words made it through to her.
“… huh? … can’t even remember… when I last saw…”
‘When?’
“What are you rambling about?! Cherry blossoms are everywhere in Japan…!” The boy’s voice snapped both of them out of their thoughts.
“Hmph… Dumplings over flowers for me any day.”
Without any further word, Yato headed straight to the bento boxes Hiyori prepared for today, sat down on the blanket and pinched a bit out of the box next to him. “SO MUCH FOOD!”, he picked up one of the sausages shaped like an octopus. In contrast to his appearance just some moments ago, he wore a big grin on his face, his cheeks rosy from excitement.
“Ahh, just looking at these adorable octopus hotdogs makes me warm with Hiyori’s love…”
“Wait ‘til everybody gets here, okay?”
“Everybody?”
Just as they spoke, a bunch of people appeared in the far, strictly heading for the cherry blossom tree they prepared the picnic at.
Hiyori couldn’t help herself but giggle at the images that just flashed before her eyes. Both Yato and Bishamon sure were energetic that day. Everyone else probably had a lot of fun, too!
»You should quit drinking that much if you lose the capability to control your actions, you know? Don’t blame me, Yukine or anyone else for the things you did!«
Hiyori had turned around, rolling her eyes and both of her hands rested on her hip.
‘At least he doesn’t make that gloomy face anymore.’
The annoyed look on her face vanished and turned into a happy smile as their eyes met.
»Whatever… this day turned out to be a lot of fun, huh? Well… it was even more chaotic as I could’ve ever imagined beforehand…«
After a short pause, she continued: »Yato…!« It was just then, when she finally realised that neither Yato, nor Yukine nor one of the others had been with her to begin with.
In front of her eyes there was still that cherry tree which had a small part of its trunk covered, the same petals dancing around her body and the same river some steps ahead.
»Right…«, she told herself, »… it’s already been some years.« ‘How could I forget? … Again…’ The whole amount of energy she just felt some minutes ago had already left her body, so she leaned against the tree behind her, slowly sliding to the ground. In silence, tears had gathered in both of her eyes, blurring her vision before they rolled over and left a wet mark on her face.
Back then she couldn’t even think about a life without them – a so called normal life. A life where she simply went to school to learn, have fun with her classmates and friends and then starting to think about her future goals.
After she was hit by that truck when she was trying to save this reckless god running over the street to catch a stray, she tended to leave her body from time to time. Even now she couldn’t fully understand what happened back then. As a so called half Ayakashi she could jump up high and her kicks were even stronger than Tono’s. Yato had promised to find a cure for her state. ‘Right… I even payed him the five Yen he requested.’ As time went by, she had started to stop regretting her new state and used the power given to her to help her friends and fight. What started as something alarming and scary turned out to be a way full of friends and mysteries to solve. Never could she have imagined that it would not stay like this forever.
Even though Tenjin had warned her to stay alert and thus suggested that cutting ties with Yato and everybody else would be for the best, she refused and stayed. She wanted to stay by their side – by his side. After she almost forgot about everybody once, she treasured her dairy even more, closely paying attention to reread and write something down every single day.
‘Why did I forget about them again? Did he cut the ties for real this time? That night?’ – He didn’t, she just remembered. After her cord was heavily damaged and her physical body had gotten weaker, Tenjin brought up the matter of cutting ties again.
“I’m sorry… if it wasn’t for me, your condition wouldn’t be that bad right now…«, Yato stood some steps away from her, his eyes strictly directed to the floor. It wasn’t easy to understand every word he said, because his voice was about to start trembling any moment. To cover up, he kept it low.
“That’s not true! Why do keep blaming yourself for things you can’t change?!!”
Hiyori’s voice was filled with anger and despair. If he really wanted to cut the ties that connected the two there wasn’t much she was able to do against.
“Yato…”, after a while she lowered her voice too, slowly closing the gap between them until she was able to touch his chin with her fingertips. Gently and yet firmly she lifted his head so his eyes had to make contact with hers. His were cold and without the sparkling deep blue she loved about them the most. His face was covered in bruises from the many fights he had to endure and despite her having bandaged them the best she could, he really looked like someone who should rest rather than standing here at night, chatting.
“… please.”, she continued her talk, “I don’t want to forget, I will be fine, I’ll-…!”
She felt cold sweat running over her face and her breathing was unsteady and fast. It was just at that moment, when she suddenly felt dizzy and was about to tumble. Yato quickly had put his arms around her waist and pulled her close to his chest. She could feel every finger of his tightly holding onto her shirt while desperately trying to cover the fact that his hands were shaking.
“Please… I don’t want to forget… again…”, she whispered and could feel him strengthen his grip even more.
She tightly wrapped her arms around her knees as she remembered what happened more than six years ago. Her condition kept getting worse, so everyone suggested it may be best for her to continue living a normal life. That’s why she decided to sign up for medical school far away from Kofuku’s house. If she studied far away, kept her distance and regained her health, she would be able to meet with them again – at least that was what she had hoped for.
Her condition did indeed get better throughout the years passing by, she felt a lot healthier now and
could not remember a single day she left body again. ‘But… I ended up forgetting about them… about all of them nonetheless.’
‘I wonder… are they still arguing day for day? Fighting evil spirits? Did they get into a fight again and got hurt? Are they… still ali-…!’
Hiyori stopped her own thoughts, opened her eyes wide and held her breath while covering her mouth with both her hands.
“The only kinds of believers Yato could ever relay on were those one-time customers, not to mention he was never really blessed with a good shinki… I’m sure he had his fair share of fears and doubts. I bet there wasn’t a day when his mind was at ease, since he had to cling to one person’s memory at a time to stay alive…”
‘Right… without his lifeline, an unknown god like Yato would…’
Her chest hurt and her head was filled with dust. Hiyori could feel her knees shaking, as she tried to stand back up on her feet again. After she forgot about him during the past six years, did he…? No…
»This can’t be… right!« Hastily the woman grabbed the bag she was carrying her mobile in; at least she tried to. Where she remembered her bag to be, she could just grasp thin air. She must have lost her bag after encountering the black cat next to the supermarket this afternoon.
»Damn…!« With one jump she ignored her still shaking knees and jumped back on her feet.
‘It doesn’t matter if we’re supposed to cut ties… I don’t care…’ Her body ran back into the park she came out of some minutes ago. All its ways were lit by streetlamps, now that the sunlight was almost completely gone for today.
‘I have to call him… I have to know whether he and Yukine are safe… Please – be safe!’
The tears had flooded her eyes, making it difficult for her to follow the path she was heading properly.
‘Please…’, she begged in her mind, not able to think of something different anymore.
»YATO-…!«
Some birds that were sitting on nearby branches to enjoy the last warmth of the sun flew away in fright – not because Hiyori suddenly shouted out a name into the dark, but because of the sound of two bodies crashing into each other. The uninspected impact made the woman stagger backwards; therefore she was now sitting in the grass, heavily breathing.
»I’m terribly sorry… I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings. Are you hurt?«, the calm voice of a young man dispelled the rising panic occupying her mind.
»No, I’m… I’m fine. Sorry.«, she answered in a low voice and raised her head. Since it already got dark and the last piece of sunlight couldn’t reach the centre of the park she was now in, the big cherry blossom trees around her were all lit by some streetlamps. One might say the contrast of the dark night with its deep blue sky made a beautiful contrast to the white and pink petals still swirling to the ground, but Hiyori didn’t care about anything like that right now. She was looking into the direction the young man’s voice had reached her ears from. Even though she could only see his silhouette because he stood right in front of one of the lights, he had a somewhat calming aura around him. As she took a closer look she noticed he wore some kind of tracksuit. Maybe he was one of the students or freshmen who spend their time after work for some fitness runs through the park.
‘Whatever… I have to hurry!’
As she made a move to stand back up again, the person in front of her came some steps closer and made something swing right before her eyes.
»This happens to be yours, doesn’t it?«
Just now she realised that it was indeed her mobile phone the stranger was holding. She nodded.
»I figured.«, he replied and straightened his back again, »Well then…«
»How did you kn-…?«
»Be careful – tonight’s gonna be a gloomy night.« The young man in front of her avoided to answer her question and turned around, just to be gone not even a second later.
»Wait!« Hiyori put her hand in front to push her body on her feet again, when she realised her phone lying right before her eyes. Hastily she picked it up and unlocked the screen when she suddenly paused. Attached to the upper right of her phone, there was a small keychain she did not remember putting there in the first place. It was a golden crown which was attached to a thin string, shining even in the pale light of the street lamps.
The tears that had stopped once she fell to the floor continued to run all over her face, as she embraced the small keychain and squeezed it close to her chest.
»Thank god…«, she murmured and couldn’t hold back the sobbing that echoed through the dark, while a gentle wind, which brought a lot of cherry blossom petals with it, gently caressed her body, as if it wanted to give her at least a little comfort.
************************************************************************
Close to the riverside the young man was looking back at the park full of cherry blossom trees, when the woman’s whispers reached his ears and a relieved smile hushed over his face. He closed his eyes and turned around to leave.
»Stupid… I won’t disappear that easy.«

Blind Haruka Nanami AU
Uta no Prince-Sama AU
When I first watched Prince-Sama all those years ago, I legitimately thought the poor girl was blind until it was established that no, she was not XD. It was the style of her eyes that threw me off at that time. So, I decided to make an AU out of this old misconception of mine!
In the first episode, Haruka mentions to Shibuya Tomochika that she had poor health as a child. Seeing as she as young, in this AU she was born legally blind. Not completely blind, just... legally blind. This is probably not the reason she had poor health, but it certainly contributed to it.
At the beginning of the series, she has a Golden Retriever Seeing Eye Dog named Hayate; yes, named after her idol Hayato-Sama.
She also has a long white cane with a red bottom; this means she is not completely blind. However, it is usually folded up in a purse or pocket and she only takes it out if it is truly needed. She wears sunglasses on sunny days.
Some things will not be true to real life. But when is anime ever?
Episode 1 synopsis below! It’s mostly the same as the original episode with changes to account for Haruka’s blindness, but that is because we must set the stage! (Spoiler: The ending is very different!) Ready, go!
Episode 1 synopsis
When Haruka begs the guard's to let her in, Hayate sits there making puppy eyes at them. She doesn’t grab the guard, but people watching coo at Hayate, same with the guard behind the one talking to Haruka. The guard then asks why a blind girl would even bother taking such a test for a prodigious school. She tries to defend herself and this is where Otoya steps in.
When Otoya starts talking to her and sees her eyes for the first time, he blushes thinking they look cute. He reaches out to pet Hayate, but then sees his vest and pulls back.
Haruka helped the lost girl by taking her around town until they found the child’s mother and retracing the child’s steps. Hayate helped to calm the girl down enough to get her to work with them.
Ren says his whole spiel, but then adds that are famous composers who have created music even with disabilities like Beethoven, so why couldn’t she take the test?
Haruka took the test in a specialized room, with previously set accommodations. A dictator read her test out loud to her, and for passage questions, she was given a brail booklet.
She met Tomo after the test; they were both released around the same time and Tomo immediately latched onto Haruka. They met outside the school before term started.
She had to keep asking Tomo what was happening during the entrance ceremony, who was more than happy to with over-exaggerated hand movements and sounds.
When Otoya recognizes her in the classroom, Haruka says ‘Oh! Based on your voice... you’re the first boy that helped me, right? Thank you!’
She asks to ‘see’ his face by tracing it with her fingers. Otoya agrees with a blush and fidgets his hands while she traces his face. He becomes even more embarrassed when she asks if he is okay because his face is really hot.
When Shinomiya jumps to latch onto Haruka, Hayate growls in warning pulling her away while Masato grabs her hand at the same time, but because of the unbalance of Hayate pulling, is unable to knock Otori into her place... So Shinomiya faceplants into the desks.
When talking about Elizabeth, he finally notices Hayate and immediately starts petting him, saying he is just like ‘his Eli’ while Hayate growls at him. Otoya pulls him off, berating him while Haruka begs him not to do such a thing because he’s working. When Shinomiya becomes confused, Masato points out his seeing dog vest. Shinomiya has a sudden realization and apologizes profusely.
Haruka notices the classmates negative perception of them. She clenches Hayate’s lead and says she’s going to sit back down. The others look at her confused.
When Ringo-Sensei comes in, Haruka sees a blurry image of him and assumes from the long hair he is a woman, even with the masculine sounding voice. She still becomes shocked when Tomo tells her he’s actually a man.
When Ringo comes close and slams on her desk, before he can say much Hayate growls and barks at him. That’s when he realizes Haruka is his blind student and his reprimand becomes less harsh.
Ringo has automatically labeled Haruka as weaker in his mind. This is going to color both his interactions with her and her perception of him, as well as lower the classes perception of her.  He also mentions that the headmaster wishes to see her after class.
Hayate growls at people that get too close too quickly. He especially growled at Tomo when they first met but mellowed out around her when he realized she wasn’t a threat.
When Haruka says that they do not have a TV in her house, she also offhandedly mentions that she doesn’t really enjoy it that much.
During lunch, Tomo reads out the options to Haruka, who can not read the small text.
When Shou catches her card for him, he asks, rather rudely, what was up with her eyes, then saw Hayate. This is when Ren comes in and reprimands him for being rude to a lady.
After lunch she’s led by a teacher to the headmaster’s office. Saotome mostly wanted to explain accommodations she would be getting at the school, in account of her... deformity.
Haruka decides that she does not rather like the headmaster.
She would be getting things like a brail copy of the menus, special rooms for tests, dictators, extra help every Friday, a permanent ‘hall pass’ so she could ‘take care’ of Hayate easily, among other accommodations.
Saotome sees her disability as a PR grab; they have a blind student whom they are helping to succeed. The press will love it! He doesn’t really care about Haruka as a person.
He tells her he will be seeing her at the end of every week on Saturday to discuss how things went during the week, for he is a gracious headmaster. This is non-negotiable, so she agrees.
Hayate doesn’t like Shining Saotome.
Haruka arrives back at the room late; mostly because she was forced to find her own way because there was no one to help her.
Tomo helps her put away her belongings.
When telling the story of the first time she heard Hayato, Tomo points out that Hayate’s name is very similar. Haruka then explains that she got Hayate shortly after this experience and named the dog after Hayato. Tomo deadpans.
After Tomo leaves to get them drinks, Haruka only notices the cat because of it’s meowing. The cat gets close enough to Haruka to allow her to pet him and feel his body shape, while he touches noses with Hayate, who is also curious of this cat who doesn’t smell like a cat.
When Haruka feels around his collar, he tries to get her to come with him by trying to pull her hand while it’s grasping his collar. This fails. Multiple times.
He then tries to steal her handkerchief to get her to leave the room. Hayate, who thinks the weird cat is playing, instead takes it back out of his mouth, wagging his tail and falling into a playing position. The cat tries again, multiple times. This also fails.
Hayate’s vest has been taken off, so now he wants to play.
Exasperated, the cat soon just gives up and stays with them for the night. Haruka wouldn’t be able to tell easily if he left, and he doesn’t want her confused and wondering about his health!

Jaskier x Female Reader series  part 1
[again a reupload because the first time, tags decided to not work, fun times ~] [ reuplaod x2 POOPDIE DOOBTIE tags just dont want to work these days, do they]
Summary: This is an AU, where Y/N is a young woman, trying to make ends meet with her freelancing writing job. She lives in her small Nottingham studio apartment along with her cat Apollo. Things change when one evening as she is waiting for her taxi, she meets what she thinks is Joey Batey, but the man in front of her is convinced he’s Jaskier, a character from her current favorite show. Y/N now has to figure out what to do.
Warnings: Swearing
Word count: 1,413
Note:
This is just an intro kind of thing, setting the setting (wow, great wording me) and Y/N first meets Jaskier. I had this idea at work, and I really want to write it, I know it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you find it interesting, you can ask to be added to a tag list! Other parts will be longer, posted every two days. I will continue doing other random imagines as requests are still open, but this will be a multi-part thing going on.
ALL feedback is appreciated. You can leave it anonymously on my ask page.
ENJOY! xxx
I click off Netflix, with a warmth filling my heart. I just finished rewatching The Witcher for a second time already. I get up to clean my room, gently humming Toss a Coin to Your Witcher to myself. I live a small studio apartment, a struggling artist is what I should call myself.
I specialize is writing, and as a freelance worker, I get to do works on anything, from how to grow your peas to why foot fetish is good for your health. A weird bunch of people come to me, influencers preaching nonsense. What I truly enjoy, however, is poetry. Writing art, not whatever people bark at me.
But I have to make a living. I made a promise to the stars I would make it on my own.
I glance back at my laptop. I enjoy my days off, treating myself to fine shows like The Witcher. I go play the song I was humming, and it fills my apartment, as I clean the kitchen counters and do the dishes. I decide that I might go out tonight, I need a break from this small room. I need to breathe.
I have this sense of adventure, wanting to do something - anything. Watching people go on adventures for eight hours straight makes my life seem so boring and bland. Much like Jaskier, I wanted to be heard. I wanted someone I could write about, and the world would be forced to listen. The world couldn’t help but fall in love, too.
Hours pass by, as I begin to get ready, applying gentle makeup on my face. I throw on a flowy skater style dress, that’s pale blue. I smirk remembering Jaskier wore pale blue, and then cuss myself out for getting so enticed in fictional character. I can fall for someone who isn’t real, not again. I’ve been the girl with a helpless crush on many characters.
Won’t happen again. I am content with being single. Plus, I have my cat. I glance around my apartment, looking for Apollo, my ginger boy I named after my favourite Greek God. I see him on a windowsill, staring out into the world. My beautiful boy. Roach to my Geralt.
“Be good tonight, Apollo.” I say, but the cat pays little to no attention to me. “Mommy will head out.”
I let out a sigh when Apollo doesn’t even look at me. Being a cat mom, you get used to it, but I prefer it when he’s in his happy mood. Then, I can’t get him off me. I whistle, making him look at me. His green eyes scan me, as if asking why I dared to disturb him.
“Keep our home safe, okay?” To my surprise, he meows in response, before looking out the window again.
This cat never ceases to amaze me.
I make sure to leave enough food and water for him, before I leave the apartment. The smell in the corridor makes my nose physically hurt, and I wonder if Dave, my neighbour, is passed out drunk somewhere again. I sigh, rushing from my third floor, to get relief of fresh air.
The streets are dim, but not too dark. I clutch my purse tighter, knowing there still are some sketchy people, even if it’s still light outside. I call a taxi, glancing around the empty streets. Until I hear someone grunt behind me. I turn on my feet, reaching for pepper spray in my purse, but get struck by a surprise.
Before me stands a man I just spend hours watching. Or the guy who plays him. Joey Batey. Dressed in full Jaskier attire, though. The red matching set he wore in episode six. He has his lute in his hands. Our eyes meet, and he looks scared out of his mind.
“Joey?” I ask, trying not to attack the actor with fangirling, who looks around, to see if there is someone else behind him. When he realizes it’s just us, he raises his eyebrows.
“I’m sorry?” He asks, looking around some more. Confusion paints his face as he looks at me once more. “Where am I?”
“Nottingham.” I say, but it doesn’t seem to clarify anything for him, as he raises his eyebrows even more.
“What is this Nottingham?” He takes a step back. “Who are you, exactly?”
“My name’s Y/N.” I raise my arms in the air, showing I mean no harm. “Joey, are you okay?”
“Who’s Joey?” His voice shakes. “I’m Jaskier.”
“I’m sorry, what?” Now I’m the one, raising my eyebrows. My phone beeps, informing me the taxi will be here in 5 minutes. Joeys, Jaskiers, eyes drop to the gadget, as he looks mortified.
“What is that?” He scoffs, taking a step back again. “You’re a sorceress. This is an illusion. Bloody witches keep ruining my days.”
“I am not a witch, Jo… Jaskier.” I correct myself but I can tell he’s not convinced. He grips on his lute tighter, eyeing me down.
“Where’s Geralt?” His voice is quiet. I feel dizzy, wondering if someone was smoking something funny up in my apartment building.
“Not here, as far as I know.” I squint, looking around, trying to see if I see Henry, dressed as Geralt just wondering the streets of Nottingham. My phone beeps again. Taxi is three minutes away. I see Jaskier stare at it again, so I slide it in my purse. “We can go to my place, you could rest, see if you feel better tomorrow?”
“I am not going anywhere with you, witch!” He puts on a brave face. I watch him turn left, as his face drops. He has no idea where he is. What exactly did he smoke?
“Jaskier. Please.” I plead, not sure what to do. I can’t pull out my phone and google ‘how to help people who are high off their mind’. That would probably give him a heart attack. “Trust me.”
“How can I trust someone who put me in this mirage?” Shit. I guess I will have to play along.
“I don’t know where I am either. I woke up in here, and I tried to find a way out. Until I just settled.” I say whatever comes to my mind as I see Jaskier slowly relax. How naïve of him, “If you are here too, maybe we both can figure something out. Maybe Geralt and Yennefer can help.”
“You know Yennefer.” His voice grows cold and I realize I messed up. I stare at him, not sure how to get him on my side again. The taxi is probably a minute away, and I cant leave Joey alone, not when he is this much out of his mind. But I cant take him clubbing either.
“I know the Continent. I heard your songs, Jaskier.” I plead, looking around. I don’t hear a car just yet. “Toss a coin to your Witcher, o valley of plenty.”
“You know my songs?” He seems to relax again, and I become anxious to get him off the street.
“Please come with me.” I plead, rushing to him.
Before he can respond, I grab his hand, dragging him inside. I hear him grunt, at what I can only assume, is the smell. My phone begins ringing, alerting that the taxi is here. I don’t stop, dragging him to the third floor. I struggle at the door, as my hands shake. When I eventually get the key in, I practically push him inside, locking the door behind us.
I take my phone out, answering.
“I am so sorry, sir. I changed my mind, my um, cat, started throwing up.” I blabber as Jaskier is fearfully looking around. “I might need to take him to the vet, I can’t go out. Please charge my card for your time to come here and have a nice evening.”
I hang up, my heart beating slower. If any sane person saw us, especially saw Jaskier, they might have called ambulance or police. Imagine the news.
“The hit show’s “The Witcher” star was found high out of his mind in the streets of Nottingham. Joey Batey, reportedly, kept saying he is Jaskier, calling everyone sorceresses.”
Wonderful. I look at him now, not sure how to refer to him. My phone dings again, and I look at it, swearing. But it’s a notification. From Instagram.
Joey Batey just updated his story. I open it, to see it’s a picture of him and Henry, with a caption ‘catching up before season 2’. I lift my head, swallowing hard. Jaskier turns around to face me, and my heart drops.
What is going on?

Still I See you, Celestial
Read on AO3
Tony was in the lab when he got the alert. Music was blasting through the room as he hunched over a circuit board when his phone screen flashed with the notification that the integrity of Peter’s suit had been compromised, and that the graphical processing unit of its AI had been damaged, rendering her useless.
“FRI? Baby monitor,” he frowned, putting down his tools and turning to his computer.
The screen lit up with a live feed from Peter’s suit, and Tony swore under his breath when he saw a haze of fire. The boy was staggering through the burning building, coughing and panting with arm around a young woman who was struggling to stay upright. Within seconds, Tony was in one of his suits, the feed now coming through in front of his eyes as he took off from the tower, speeding through the air towards the blinking red dot on the map.
Tony watched as Peter managed to get the woman to a window and not-so-gracefully swung them down to the ground where a crowd of people where watching anxiously. He let out a breath of relief once the boy was out of the building, only to swear again when Peter then looked back up at the building and scale the wall, scrambling towards an open window.
“FRI, patch me through,” he ordered.
“Mister Stark?” Peter’s raspy voice spoke up.
“Kid, you gotta get out of there,” he said, approaching the building.
“I gotta make sure everyone’s out,” he coughed, racing through the building, dodging falling debris.
“FRIDAY, are there any people left in the building?” Tony asked, eyes darting over the information the AI presented.
“No, Boss.”
“Everyone’s out, Spidey, you can come out now.”
“Okay, Mister-“ Peter cut himself off abruptly. “Wait, I hear something.”
“The main structural support system of building has been compromised and will likely collapse at any minute,” FRIDAY supplied.
“Fuck, kiddo, you gotta get out, it’s about to collapse.”
“No, Mr Stark, there’s someone else here, I can hear it-“
“FRIDAY’s scanned the building, it’s clear,” he interrupted harshly. “Now get the fuck out of that building right now.”
“No, Mr Stark, I can hear something!” Peter insisted frantically.
“Kid,” Tony said sharply, preparing to go in there and drag his stubborn ass out of that building. “I’m not fucking around. It’s clear and about to collapse - you need to get out.”
“Just a minute, I gotta-“
Peter voice was cut off by a series of creaking, cracking and clashing as the building crumbled, and with it, Tony’s face. The man let out a strangled cry and dove into the ablaze rubble, not paying any mind to the sweltering heat the fire produced.
He almost vomited when he reached the boy. He was lying on the floor, his head turned away from him… and a metal rod pierced through his abdomen, blood pooling around him. The cherry on top was the small bundle of fur tucked under his protective arm, looking around anxiously and meowing loudly. All this for a fucking cat.
“FRI?”
“The object has not pierced any vital organs, however, Mister Parker is losing blood rapidly,” the AI reported.
Tony knew he couldn’t just pull the rod out if he didn’t want Peter to bleed out in seconds, but he had to move him and fast. He crouched down, absentmindedly taking note of Peter’s ragged breaths, and used a laser to cut the rod a few inches away from his skin, throwing the excess aside. A small part of him was grateful he was unconscious, because he was sure that the pain he would be experiencing would be excruciating.
Tony glanced at the terrified cat and let a small huff before grabbing it by the scruff of its neck and placing it on his shoulder, where it clung desperately, sliding around on the metal. He then gently scooped Peter’s limp body up and brought them to the crowd, where he unceremoniously shoved the cat in some kid’s arms and took off towards the tower, already barking orders at FRIDAY to alert Helen Cho and prepare a team for surgery.
He couldn’t help but glance over Peter’s body as they flew, taking in the burns and bloody tears in the suit. The eyes that were usually white were grey with ash and dirt, and Tony struggled with Peter in his arms for a moment while he pulled the mask up over his mouth and nose so he could breathe easier.
When he landed on the balcony of the tower, he stepped out of the suit and ran into the medbay, where Helen was pulling on a pair of gloves. Before he could say anything, the team of doctors had swarmed them, gently transferring Peter’s body to an operating table and rushing him into theatre to perform surgery. Tony followed right behind them, unable to take his eyes of the boy, who was getting paler by the second.
He was stopped abruptly by Helen’s hand on his chest, her expression determined.
“You can’t go in there, Stark. You have to let us help him now. You can watch if you really insist,” she offered, gesturing to the window into the operating theatre, “but… I really would advise against it.”
Tony wanted to argue, to demand that he hold his kid’s hand through the surgery, to tell her to get fucked because he wasn’t going to fail Peter again. But he knew, logically, that acting out would only cause problems, and frankly, he didn’t have the energy or capacity to fight one of the only people who could help Peter now. So he simply shot a helpless look over her shoulder at the team of doctors peeling the suit off of him and pulling out various medical instruments.
“Is… is he going to be okay?” he asked desperately.
Helen looked at him sympathetically. “You know I can’t promise that.”
Tony couldn’t think straight, only stare blankly at Peter as the doctor turned into the room, the door sliding shut behind her as she started directing everyone about. He stumbled slightly over to the window and leant against it to steady himself.
“Tony?” Pepper breathed, running up to him and pulling him into a tight hug. “How is he?”
The man just shook his head, not trusting himself to use his voice. She pulled away and placed a hand on his cheek, brushing her thumb against his skin comfortingly. Her hand found his and squeezed it tightly as they turned to watch the scene play out in front of them.
Tony watched as they treated and covered his burns and cuts. Watched as they tried to remove the metal, only to end up having to tediously cut it from the muscle that had started to heal around it. Watched as the blood pooled, despite the attempts to put pressure on the wound and prevent the flow.
Then Peter’s heart stopped and, for a moment, Tony thought his had too.
He couldn’t do anything but stare in pure horror at the straight line on the heart monitor, alarms blaring in his ears. His knees gave out underneath him and he placed his hands over his mouth, eyes burning with tears, chest heaving with sobs that he wouldn’t let escape him. He could faintly feel Pepper’s arms around him, her fingers weaving into his hair, could vaguely hear her voice… but he couldn’t concentrate on any of that. Only the lifeless child in front of his eyes.
Peter was dead. His kid was dead. And all he could do was watch his entire body jolt with each dose of electric current they forced through his chest, desperately trying to get his stupidly oversized heart started again. When was the last time he’d told Peter loved him? He sure as fuck didn’t say it as often as he should have. Had Peter died not knowing how much he really meant to Tony? Of course he had, because Tony never did tell him. Sure, he’d said ‘I love you’, but that hardly encompassed everything he felt for the boy who had stubbornly wiggled his way into Tony’s heart.
Peter was the most selfless person Tony had ever met. He was so kind, generous and good and had so much potential. But now he was gone, and Tony wouldn’t get to see him off on his first date, or graduate high school, or go to college, or get married-
Tony froze when a steady beeping met his ears. It was the most beautiful sound he’d ever heard. He staggered to his feet, trembling hands pressed against the glass, staring at the pulsing heart monitor in overwhelming relief.  Realising that his world had started moving again, Tony collapsed into a chair with Pepper by his side, and watched them complete the procedure. At some point, May arrived, having left work early when Pepper had informed her of what had happened. Tony expected her to yell at him, to hit him, to refuse to look at him. But instead, she had hugged him, and sat down beside him without a word, staring anxiously at her nephew.
Helen was the first to come out, and informed them that Peter was now stable and would make a full recovery, and proceeded to list the full list of injuries and told them she’d be around if they needed anything.
May was the first to go in once Peter had been transferred to a recovery room, and Tony insisted she have some time alone with him. Although it came across as him being polite to May, in truth, he was just hesitant to go in, despite how desperate he had been to be with Peter before. Maybe it was because he’d realised how terrifyingly mortal Peter was, or because a part of him still didn’t believe that this was real - that this was a figment of his imagination he’d come up with to cope with the fact that he really was dead. Or maybe it was to do with the crippling guilt because why did he waste time telling Peter to get out when he could have just dragged him out? When had Peter ever been one to listen in situations like that? If only Tony had gotten there faster, if he had built the suit better, if he had-
“Stop it,” Pepper said softly, pulling him from his thoughts. She was gazing at him intently, waiting for him to actually step into the room. “I can practically see you stewing in self-loathing, but none of this is your fault. And don’t even try to argue with me.”
“I just… I always feel like I could be doing better, I feel like I could have done better,” he replied pathetically.
“You did everything in your power to keep Peter safe-“
“But it wasn’t enough, was it?”
“Tony,” she sighed exasperatedly, “if you weren’t there, he would have died in that fire. You got him out in time so he could be saved.”
Pepper drew him into one last soft, sweet kiss, and gently guided him into the room.
Peter was connected to an array of machines, and had an endotracheal tube coming out of his mouth. His dirty face was still pale, but had regained colour since Tony brought him in, and was covered in bandages, yet he still looked incredibly peaceful. May was curled up in the chair beside his bed, clutching his hand in her own. The woman gave him a small smile and gestured to the chair on his other side. Tony rested a hand over Peter’s free hand, before letting out a sigh and taking a seat. Now that he was here, he didn’t want to leave in case something happened, he needed to make sure he was safe and alive. He took comfort in the steady beeping of his heart monitor, unable to keep the echoes of the flatline alarm out of his mind.
Tony reached forward to take Peter’s wrist and feel his pulse underneath his fingertips. Just to make sure. And when he made eye contact with May, he pretended not to notice the knowing look in her eye. At some point, May had reluctantly gone to bed as she had to get up early for a double shift the next day and needed to make sure she was well-rested, despite being tempted to call in sick.
Throughout the night, Tony stayed there, persistently refusing Pepper’s pleas to eat and drink and sleep. Even when she brought down a tray of food and a glass of water, along with a pillow, he refused to move. Instead, he tapped away at his StarkPad, jotting down ideas to better the suit in terms of puncture resistance, flame retardation, smoke filtration… maybe an in-suit defibrillator? At about 3am, Tony decided that Peter’s face really needed to be cleaned, because it was still covered ash and dirt and that wouldn’t do. So he got a cloth and some lukewarm water and gently started wiping the grime off Peter’s face, soothed by the youth it restored.
The man then returned to his position of one hand on Peter’s pulse and the other typing one-handedly on the screen. By now, the rhythm and tempo of his heartbeat was ingrained in his mind, and that, along with the steady beeping and sound of Peter’s assisted breaths eventually lulled him to sleep.
Tony awoke late the next morning to Helen checking over Peter and swapping out the drip. He noticed the tube was gone, replaced by a cannula, and wondered when that had happened.
“He’ll most likely wake up in the next few hours,” she spoke up, realising he was awake. “He’ll be in and out for a while, though. I’m amazed at his healing, even for an enhanced. I’ve never seen anything like it. He’s a very lucky young man.”
At first, he thought she meant Peter was lucky to have his powers, but then the real implication of her words sunk in and he swallowed. If it weren’t for his healing, he may have been dead by the time Tony got to him, unable to be saved. He would have died for sure.
He did die, some voice in the back of his mind supplied.
About an hour later, Peter stirred and was conscious for approximately fifty hazy-as-fuck seconds before passing out again. He woke up a couple more times with slightly better results, however it wasn’t until a bit after 2pm that he fully regained consciousness. His eyes blearily blinked open and trailed around the room, landing on Tony, who offered him a glass of water without saying anything. Peter gratefully took a few sips and looked at Tony anxiously.
“Is everyone okay?” he croaked.
It seemed that during all that time, Tony had plenty of time to churn his anxiety and fear into anger and frustration. He wanted to explode, wanted to demand why Peter didn’t follow his order because despite all the guilt he carried, it was still easier to lash out.
“You mean everyone aside from you?” he asked bitterly. “Yeah. Even that fucking cat.”
Peter’s lips pressed together and Tony knew he hadn’t masked his frustration nearly as well as he’d hoped. He also knew that he’d struggle to not snap at Peter, and decided that it’d be better for both of them if he just got himself out of there.
“I’ve got to go take care of some SI stuff,” he said abruptly, getting to his feet. “I’m… I’m glad you’re okay, kid,” he added at the slightly hurt expression on Peter’s face.
He glanced at him one last time before walking out of the room and taking the elevator back up to his floor. Pepper wouldn’t be back from her meeting for another couple of hours, so Tony busied himself with making coffee, responding to emails and working more on his designs for a new suit for Peter.
Maybe rewatching the footage from the incident over and over wasn’t the best idea, but Tony needed to analyse everything he could to make sure he wasn’t missing anything. So over and over again, he watched Peter stumble through the haze of fire, watched him fall through the floor, watched the broken curtain rod pierce through his body.
He started preparing designs for a fabric that was completely fire proof and was much more resistant to tearing. It would be hard to balance that with making sure it was still comfortable and easy to move in but he would make sure it worked. He improved the protection around Karen’s GPU so Peter wouldn’t be left without her again. He made plans for adding a filter in the mask so that Peter wouldn’t have to suffer the consequences of smoke inhalation again - he hated the sight of the ugly tube coming out Peter’s mouth and the implication that he couldn’t breathe on his own that came with it.
“Hey,” Pepper smiled at Tony as she walked in, pausing to take her heels off. “FRIDAY said Peter’s awake, how is he?”
“Uh, okay,” he replied distractedly, eyes still trained on the screen when she came up and placed a kiss on his head.
She pulled away and stared at him for a moment, eyes narrowed slightly as they went between the screen and Tony’s tired face. “How long have you been up here?”
“Um, about two hours.”
“And how long has Peter been awake?”
Tony hesitated in shame. “About two hours.”
“You’re hiding from him,” Pepper responded flatly, folding her arms.
“I’m not hiding,” he scowled. “He disobeyed a direct order and almost - no wait, sorry - did die.”
“I know you’re angry, Tony, but you need to go down there and talk to that poor boy, because he can’t be alone right now. I don’t care if you’re mad at him, you need to swallow your pride and make sure he’s okay.”
“He died, Pep, because I wasn’t good enough. He’s better off without me.”
“Okay, so let me run this situation past you - Peter is in that burning building, but you’re not there so he bleeds out or- or burns to death. Is that what you mean by better off?”
“He wouldn’t have been in there if I never got involved.”
“That’s bullshit,” she said calmly. “That whole fiasco on moving day with that vulture guy showed that no matter if you never met him, he would still have been in that building. But he wouldn’t have the suit and probably would have died before he could get even half those people out. When will you get it through your head that he needs you? I know that you’d move heaven and earth for Peter-“
“But he doesn’t know that,” Tony interrupted quietly. “He- he could have died and he wouldn’t have known how much I-“ he cut himself off and Pepper took a deep, steadying breath.
“So you hide up here? Is this you showing how much you care about him? By hiding when he needs you most? You’re right, Peter could have died on that table without knowing what he means to you, but he came back and now you have the chance to tell him and you’re abandoning him! God, Tony you’re a dumbass sometimes. Get your ass down there and talk to him.”
Tony buried his face in his hands. “Fuck, you’re right. What am I doing?”
Pepper pursed her lips and ran her fingers through his hair. “It’s going to be fine, honey.”
He nodded and pulled her into a tight hug, then pulled away and kissed her softly. “Thank you.”
When Tony arrived outside of Peter’s room, he hesitated for a moment before walking in. Peter was staring at the television, but looked over at him with an unreadable expression when he entered.
“Hey, Mr Stark,” he greeted softly, voice still hoarse.
“Are you sure you’re supposed to be sitting up already?”
Peter frowned slightly, glancing down at himself or a moment before meeting Tony’s eyes again. “Yeah, it’s fine.”
Tony couldn’t help the childish ‘hmph’ that escaped him at the word ‘fine’, because things were not ‘fine’ by any standard.
Peter’s gaze dropped and his hands fidgeted. “I’m sorry, Mr Stark, I know I should have gotten out when you told me, but I heard something and I thought there was someone else inside.”
Tony was well aware that people shouldn’t bottle up their emotions, because that never ends well. But it was hard to avoid it when he didn’t even realise he was doing it. He never did until it was too late, and now was one of those times.
"That ‘something’ was just a fucking cat, Peter. And I told you to get out and you didn’t listen to me!”
Peter scowled. “Because I thought there was another person trapped in the burning building, forgive me.”
“Don’t take that tone with me, I told you it was clear!”
“Well, it wasn’t,” he replied petulantly.
“Four-legged creatures don’t count.”
“Well, that’s rude,” he muttered.
“Are you fucking kidding me?!” Tony burst. "I know you have the urge to protect every living thing on the planet, but you can’t risk your life for a fucking pet, Peter.”
“I didn’t know it was a cat, okay?” Peter defended, his lip wobbling. Tony’s face softened slightly, beginning to think he was being too harsh. “I don’t regret it, though,” he added stubbornly. And Tony exploded.
“You would have died if you weren’t you, do you not realise that?” he snapped.
“Yeah, well, right now I’m beginning to wish I wasn’t,” he mumbled angrily.
“What did you just say?”
Peter just glared at him.
“You disobeyed a direct order-!“
“I don’t care!” he interrupted defiantly, swinging his legs around over the bed to face Tony. “Do you not realise that? I got those people out, that’s all that matters.”
“NO, ITS NOT!” Tony yelled. “YOU MATTER, PETER. Jesus Christ, I got in there and saw you lying unconscious and bleeding, I thought you were-“ he cut himself off and took a deep breath. “Fuck, Pete, you gotta look after yourself sometimes.”
“Like you?” he replied coolly.
“I don’t want you to be like me! Can’t you get that through your thick skull?”
“Yeah, I get it, Mr Stark, you want me to be better… but I saved all those people and I’m fine, I don’t see-“
“YOU’RE NOT FINE!” he roared. “YOU DIED ON THE TABLE WHILE I COULDN’T DO ANYTHING BUT WATCH. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW THAT FEELS?”
This was clearly news to Peter, who’s face dropped at hearing he had died. At the last sentence, however, he glared harshly at Tony and stood up furiously.
“I KNOW EXACTLY HOW THAT FEELS!” he shouted, jabbing a finger at Tony. “I watched uncle Ben bleed out in front of me and it was all my fault! Thats why I have to do this! I don’t want anyone else to die because I failed!”
Well, that was annoyingly familiar.
“You can’t save everyone, kid!” Tony argued. “And I get it, you can’t let go, but I can’t let go of you. I can’t lose you, Peter. What happened with Ben sucks horse shit, and if you could go back in time and prevent that happening you would, wouldn’t you?”
Peter stepped back in offence. “What kind of question is that? Of course, I would!”
“Then can’t you see that this is why I’m doing this?” Tony begged. “I’m just trying to protect you. If I tell you to get out, you need to get out. You barely came out alive and I can’t do that again, I can’t. And you won’t always be that lucky. If you keep pulling shit like that, one day you’re gonna- and I can’t-“
Sometimes, Tony could feel pain attacks slowly tugging at him, drawing him under like quicksand. But this one seemed to snatch him, plunging him under the icy water with no warning.
“Mr Stark?” Peter spoke up, eyes watching him anxiously. “Mr Stark, you gotta breathe,” he pleaded, guiding the man into the chair and crouching in front of him. “C’mon, deep breaths, follow me.”
It took a few minutes to bring the man back down, and when he did, he stared fixedly on Peter in front of him and reached out to gently take his wrist to feel his pulse again. The boy glanced down at his wrist in confusion, but his expression softened when Tony turned it over and placed his fingers over his pulse point.
“I-I’m okay, I’m right here,” he whispered, guilt crashing over him in waves at the fact that he had caused this. “I’m sorry, Mr Stark, I’m so sorry.”
Tony shook his head and let go of Peter’s wrist. “No, kiddo, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have yelled at you. That was… I hated how my dad acted and yet here I am screaming at you.”
“I was being selfish.”
Tony barked out a shaky laugh. “Kid, you are anything but selfish. You’re terrifyingly selfless. You’re so good, Pete. You’re too good and it scares me because I know you’d risk your life over and over for random strangers, which is unbelievably heroic but I still hate it.”
“I know... I’m sorry for not considering your feelings. I was so wrapped up in thinking about Ben, I didn’t consider what you were going through. I guess sometimes it’s just hard to think that... never mind.”
Peter looked away, biting his lip and Tony frowned.
“Uh-uh, none of that. What were you gonna say?”
“I just... I know that you say you love me, but…”
“You don’t think I love you?” he asked weakly, feeling his self-hate coil a little tighter around him.
“No. I- I know you do l, but sometimes…” Peter trailed off and Tony’s heart clenched when he realised what he was struggling to say.
“Anxiety tells you I don’t?”
He nodded, still not looking at Tony. “It... it makes it easier, when I’m in situations like that, to think that I’m not important to people.”
Tony swallowed and leant forward to place a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Oh, bud. I’ve been there, done that. But trust me, I’ve learnt that it’s better to keep the important people in your life in your mind because it gives you an incentive to make it back home. If you go into missions thinking you don’t matter you won’t try nearly as hard as if you know you’ve got someone waiting at home for you. And you have ‘em, kid. You’ve got May, Ned, that scary girl you like... Pepper, Rhodey and Happy all love you, even if Happy pretends not to.
“And I love you, kid, so damn much it scares me. When… God, when you flatlined during surgery, I- I couldn’t breathe, I… couldn’t stop thinking about how you had died not knowing truly how much you mean to me. I don’t tell you I love you enough and it’s something I’m trying to work on-“
“It’s okay, Mr Stark,” Peter interrupted softly.
“It’s not. It’s not,” Tony shook his head insistently. “Pete, you’re… you’re like a- you’re like my- my-“
“I know,” he said, giving the man a small smile. “You don’t have to say it, I get it. I know that you're not a very affectionate person, but that's not a flaw.”
He shook his head frustratedly. “No, kid, I want to say it. You’re like a- a son to me. I care about you more than I ever thought I would and I love you more than you can imagine. And I’m so sorry for getting so angry at you, it was just- it was just my fear twisting out of control and pouring out in an ugly fit. I’m really proud of you, Pete. I am. I admire you so much. But you gotta stop being reckless, okay? If I tell you to do something, it’s for a reason. I can’t let anything happen to you, Pete. You’re way too important.”
“Okay, I’ll try,” Peter promised. “And I love you too, by the way. Ben was the closest thing I had to a father after my parents died and then- and then all that happened now that’s- that’s you.”
“Underoos, I- fuck, did you pull a stitch?” Tony stared at the growing red stain on the bandage around his abdomen in panic. “FRI, get Helen.”
“Huh, guess I did,” he replied nonchalantly. “Is that bad?”
“Yes, it’s bad! You need your blood inside your body.”
“Wow, they really don’t call you a genius for nothing,” Peter sniggered.
“Oh, shut up, you’re grounded.”
“Why are you out of bed?” Helen demanded, storming into the room and pushing Peter back onto the bed.
“His fault,” Peter grinned, pointing at Tony while the doctor just rolled her eyes and got out a small kit to restitch the wound.
“You were the one who felt the need to stand up suddenly to make a point, you drama queen.”
Both Peter and Helen paused to look at the billionaire with raised eyebrows.
“Right, pot kettle,” he murmured, scratching his goatee.
“What can I say?” Peter grinned. “I take after you.”
“You’re a little shit.”
“Also you.”
Tony reached across and flicked him on the nose, causing him to jerk away and laugh.
“Dude.”
“Don’t ‘dude’ me, young man.”
“Okay, dad.”
“You’re grounded ’til you’re thirty.”
“I don’t even live here!”

The Cat is a Troll
Thursday, 16 September 2032
It was already evening, and I was still stuck in the traffic, as Apollo called me and asked if I was on my way home. He wanted to know, if he should warm up our food already or if he should wait some more.
I told him that he could start, since I was almost at my turn and even though traffic was bad, I would soon be home. Then we hung up and I started humming a melody.
This day had been fucking stressful up until now. I had to present two cases in court and the latter one was absolutely nerve-wrecking. Not because it was a hard case, no. The main witness just could not shut up and it was almost impossible to get them to stop talking again. Even the judge was getting annoyed by it and had to ask for their removal.
But now the night was finally dawning, and I got to see my sun again. My sun, who just called me to ask if he should make me dinner. I felt a smile forming on my lips and quickly glanced at the silver ring on my left ring finger. It was still new and shiny. And I still felt the sweet contentment rushing through my veins when I looked at it.
I really longed to see my husband again and apparently for once life time was kind to me as it flew by and I reached my destination a bit earlier than expected. Quickly I went inside and straight into the kitchen, where I was hit with quite the sight.
Apollo Justice, the owner of the small law firm Justice & Co. and former official legal council for the reconstruction of the khura’inese legal system, was standing on a kitchen counter, while our lovely cat Mikeko sat on a cupboard and unimpressed stared down at him. He meowed at him and Apollo mumbled something angrily in khura’inese. Cautiously he stretched and tried to reach the fluffy animal but exactly as he had almost got hold of him, Mikeko simply took a step back and started peacefully licking his pawn as if he was mocking him.
I had to bite my lip in order to keep myself from laughing. This was absolutely hilarious. It got even better as I realized that Vongole was also in the kitchen and stood behind Apollo down on the floor watching him closely like I did.
He let out a little bark and immediately my red lawyer growled frustratedly: “Oh can you do it better, Clams? Can you? Then please, do it yourself! Go on! Get this stubborn creature down here!”
And at that I could no longer contain myself and started laughing. That caused Apollo to stumble and he almost lost balance. Immediately I run over to him and supported him by holding his legs still, so he would not fall down.
As soon as he was no longer in danger of falling down, he turned around and told me loudly with a beet red face: “Fuck you? What the hell is your business with sneaking up on me and then giving me a heart attack? I almost died!”
Before I could say anything, Mikeko jumped down from the cupboard on the counter, quickly slid around Apollo’s legs, and finally jumped down on the floor ignoring my existence while gracefully exiting the room.
Both of us looked after the cat in bewilderment. This animal had the same vibe as the “Then perish” meme. He was godlike.
Anyway, I took a step back and as Apollo very carefully sat down, I told him: “Well, to my defence I was quite overwhelmed with the scene, which was unfolding in front of me. It was kinda bizarre and your backside is also very much distracting.”
I winked at him and he puffed his adorably pink cheeks. But suddenly he cracked a smile and shook his head. He took my hands and drew circles with his thumb on their back.
I had the urge to lean on him and lay my head on his shoulders. At first, I tried to resist, but as Apollo drew me closer and grabbed me around shoulders, I gave in and buried my head in his shoulders. It was nice being in a lower position than Apollo for once. Leaning on my sweet small partner was really comforting.
And then an alarm clock went off and the little man slid down from the counter in order to get our lasagne out of the oven. I let out a tired huff and set up the table. Apollo followed soon with the lasagne and a bottle of red wine together with two glasses.
“Oh wow”, I said in as I stemmed my hands in my hips. “What’s there to celebrate? Have I forgotten something? Or am I in trouble or both?”
He only shot me a slightly offended look and answered while filling my glass: “Can’t I just drink some wine with my husband? And also, you look like you had a shitty day, so I wanted to make this evening a bit nicer for you.”
“Can you call me husband again? It sounds like music in my tender ears”, I pledged and stepped close to him.
A sneaky smile appeared on his lips and softly touched his shoulders and let my hands wander down to his chest. His face came closer to me and he whispered smoothly: “My husband. I’m going to drink some wine with my handsome husband, Klavier Gavin. Did that make you happy?”
“Very much so”, I replied and pressed a small kiss on his lips.
We parted again, toasted on us, drank our wine and started eating our lasagne. He asked me about my day and I could get some steam off. Then he told me about how his new intern Tam had managed to get into a heated discussion about musicals with an over fifty years old man. Said man had come into their office for a defence request for his son who had been accused of identity theft and had been in a horrible mood before the kid had started talking with him.
Apollo himself had been out, when the guy had first entered the office, because of he had been called to a crime scene for another case and only met the man as he came back, while his lovely intern was cheerfully describing the hidden meaning of ‘Wicked’ to the eagerly listening man in his early fifties.
Apollo had only ever praise for the young woman. With her fiercely gentle nature she was quite a strange character, who was absolutely intriguing. And so, they had won a new client in no time even though Apollo had not been there to meet him first.
“Frau Abelen truly is a treasure, isn’t she?”, I said to Apollo after he had ended his story.
“She sure is. And she’s also really talented at defending to be honest. I have taken her to court with me several times and she’s a complete natural. Sharp mind and an insightful point of view. One day she’ll make a great lawyer”, he told me as excitement glimmered in his eyes.
Quickly he had stood up and put the lasagne bowl on the counter. I took our used plates and wandered over to him, carefully putting the plates next to the bowl and then hugged my man from behind.
“Of course, she’ll be great! She will have learnt form the greatest lawyer after all”, I whispered in his ears and got a slightly embarrassed laugh in return.
He wiggled himself out of my hug and turned around, so he could see me. Nonchalantly he laid his arms around my neck, tilted his head to the side and smiled at me.
“What is it with you today? You’re always rather smooth but this is fucking brilliant. Do you want something from me? Something involving our bed room? Hm? You little horny rock star?”
Well, now, that was simply unfair. He had no idea how attractive he was when he started talking like this with that sort of smirk and that voice. And complimenting me at the same time. Dear god, this man was the end of me.
I leaned in for a kiss, closed my eyes and felt how Apollo’s lips came closer and –
“Meow”
Confused we turned our faces towards the counter and discovered a very judging cat starring at us from inside the lasagne bowl. I felt my jaw drop, while Apollo simply raised his eyebrows, as we watched how Mikeko came out of the bowl, stretched and then jumped down from the counter and yet again left the room as gracefully as an Olympia ice skater.
“This cat is the ultimate troll”, I huffed under my breath as I made a step towards the kitchen in order to get some towels for the tomato stains the horrible cat just had left.
Yet I did not get further than that because Apollo broke down laughing in tears, what I observed in cluelessness. As the laughing continued, I got worried and asked a bit lost: “What exactly is so funny about this?”
I saw how Apollo attempted reply, but it took him quite some time before he was able to calm down enough to answer me.
“Ah, sorry, but – I – well there was just an image popping up in my mind of a fantasy troll Mikeko with the quest of cock-blocking us and it seemed so fucking ridiculous to me at the moment.”
I blinked several times before I actually registered what the man just had told me and needed several more seconds before I understood what he had said. And then I started laughing violently myself, what led to Apollo starting to laugh again. What made me laugh even harder and made it way more difficult to stop laughing again.
I did not even know why I laughed in the first place. The image was not really that funny, but somehow it was the most hilarious thing when I had heard Apollo say it. And it still was hilarious when we stopped laughing and started to clean up the mess Mikeko had caused. Vongole even helped us as he liked up some of the tomato trail the naughty cat had left behind.
When we were finally finished, I let myself drop on the sofa in the living room and stared at the pictures on the coffee table. It was one of Apollo and me on our first date, several with Simon, Nahyuta, Apollo and me in it, some of Trucy, Thalassa, Athena and Herr Wright and also one of Rayfa. I leaned forward and took the one up where Simon sat on said coffee table, made peace sign and I was sitting in front of him on the floor, smiling brightly.
I decided we needed more pictures. There were too little of Kay, Sebastian and Frau Skye. I wanted to see more of them. They belonged into this household.
A black-white ball of fluffy hair appeared in front of me. I smiled and fondled the spaniel half-breed behind his ears. Ultimately, he laid down on my feet and I got the chance to lay back again.
Peacefully I sat there, humming a melody for a new song in my head. Life was good. Even kind right now. I appreciated that.
I heard Apollo come closer, a purring mass in his arms. I opened my eyes and saw how he sat down next to me with the cat on his lap. Mikeko slept peacefully just as Vongole did and I gave Apollo an amused look.
Then I reached over to the cat, petted him and told Apollo: “Both of them might be trolls from time to time. But I would not want to live without them anymore.”
“Neither would I”, Apollo agreed and kissed my cheek. “They are just as much part of this family as you and I are.”
