#but what would they do after Ryland died?
Text
ok so I was thinking about how since Eridians live for much much longer than humans (I think the book said 600 human years?) and since Ryland would have obviously died on Erid what would they do with his body? (because obviously they're not just gonna keep it there) Would they bury/cremate him? Would they give him Eridian funeral/ do to him what they do to Eridians who have died?
Also, since Ryland must have known he was going to die there and would die long before Rocky, would he have gone over what he'd want to happen to him after he died? Would he donate his body to science for Eridian doctors to study?
and what happens during Eridian funerals anyway? What do they do to their companions/loved ones when they pass away?
AHHH SO MANY WHAT IFS!!! SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!

Backstory
Evie didn’t get the start most would consider ideal.
Her parents were part of a tribe of Gur traveling across Faerun, slaying monsters and earning money where they could, even if certain townships looked down on them. Unfortunately, her father, Ryland had a habit of living up to the stereotypes. If people were going to see them as cut throats and thieves, might as well be a good one. Evie never got the full story, but eventually he crossed the line and was forced to leave the caravan. Her mother soon followed, loving him too much to leave him.
So, Evie was born in the back room of a tavern as it was the only place her father could find that wasn’t a tent in the middle of the woods. It didn’t do her mother much good either way as she died not long after.
Ryland did what he could, at least at the start. Evie would later reflect with vague memories of an Inn, the smell of rosemary and her father tucking her into a straw bed. Those memories wouldn’t last, however, as they were over taken by a blur of different ceilings, tent canvas, the night sky, hard dirt and stone cobbles.
He taught her how to pick pockets and use those big blue eyes of hers to gain sympathy of the local tavern keeper for an extension on their bill. Sometimes he’d leave for days at a time, swearing he’d be back sooner than he ever was. They wouldn’t kick a little girl out on the streets now would they? He just needed to earn some extra coin.
It wasn’t usual for Evie to be put to work then, cleaning and sweeping, a little mouse scurrying here and there searching for crumbs and trying not to get stepped on. Eventually the little tavern mouse was being called Tav rather than her given name; a name she could hardly argue against, especially once her father left one final time, never to return. She was eight years old.
It was long after she was told to find a new place to stay. Her father was behind on payments and the owner didn’t want a Gur pick pocket hanging around his customers. That first night, alone on the street, was just about the worst of her entire life. For some time after those streets would be her home as she did what she could to eat and find a safe place to sleep, day after day as she searched for even a roof to have over her head.
Some merchants and tavern maids took pity on her, letting her stay for a time and earn her keep, but something would inevitably go missing and the finger would be pointed at her. It wouldn’t matter if they found nothing in her pack or in her bed roll or if the item was found a day later, she would be out on the street all over again.
This continued for years until she was about twelve years old working at an inn where a company of bards and actors came to perform. The leader, a tiefling named Lyric, was an extremely talent musician and Evie found herself absolutely entranced. The owner of this particular inn wasn’t especially kind and she knew she’d be accused of something sooner rather than later and so that night she snuck into the players caravan to left.
She was discovered the next morning, but rather than leave her in the middle of nowhere, Lyric took pity on her. So long as she earned her keep and didn’t slow down the caravan, he didn’t see the issue.
He taught her how to play once he discovered she had a talent for music, gifting her a violin. He wasn’t an warm man, but neither was he cruel. He was simply her mentor and just about the only stable force in her life. But like so many things, that would not last either.
When Evie was about seventeen, Lyric and a few other of the players were caught attempting to steal from a rather rich lord in town. He hasn’t told the others of this plan. The only reason Evie and the rest were able to escape was because another one of the group saw the arrest and warned the others to scatter. Evie was left again without a home or even acquaintances to rely on. All she had was a pack with five days worth of rations and a violin. But she would be alright, she’d been alone before. At least now she could make her own way.
Even so, every town she passed through, each new face she met, she found herself looking for something she couldn’t name. The bonds she made always felt temporary, slipping through her fingers the harder she held on. Still, she had to try.
Nothing in her history, however, could prepare her for an illithid ship and the group of weirdos she’s find herself apart of. There are worse ways to get to know people, although she’s having trouble thinking of what.

What do you think would happen to Ryland in the Eleanor/Tristen Au?
Okay! So my delay in answering this is that I wasn't sure what the Tristenor AU would look like as there were so many different ways it could go. Would Asshat still become king and have all his kiddos or would he die young? Is Tristen still the heir to the throne? Would he have to abdicate to marry Eleanor? Would Donovan be the new heir, would the monarchy be abolished, or would Druzar merge with Trenton? Would Ryland even be born?
--
Tumblr media
So in order for us to have this lil lovely Tristenor family, the main change is Asshat dies young. In the canon timeline asshat becomes king at a 30ish after his parents and brother/sil were in a care accident. In this universe, Asshat dies from an aneurism shortly after marrying Rhea. Rhea was pregnant with Tristen at the time so sadly he will be an only child (no Donovan, Ryland, or Blaze).
--
Going one step further, Asshat's brother, Theodore (the OG CP) ends up succeeding their father. He has three children: Alice (CP), Richard, and Lorna. Asshat and Theodore's sister, Alessandra, stays a working royal. I'd like to think that she'd still marry the same dude and have the same kids.
Below is a picture of King Theodore and his family
Tumblr media
Top row (L to R): Lord Derek Bearden (husband of Lorna) Prince Richard, King Theodore, and Crown Prince Zachary (husband of Alice)
Middle wow (L to R): Princess Lorna, Princess Maricela (daughter of Lorna), Princess Patricia (wife of Richard), Princess Olivia (daughter of Richard), Queen Nathalie, Crown Princess Alice, Prince Sebastian (son of Alice), and Princess Marjorie (daughter of Alice).
Bottom row (L to R): Prince Carlton (son of Lorna) and Prince Robert (son of Richard)

May 27 - Day 7 Aftermath
Frankly, Fiorenze supposed, realistically, it all could’ve gone worse.
That didn’t mean it had gone great, but it could’ve gone worse.
She’d let her anger take over in the field — anger at her failure, anger at her circumstances, anger at Sheizara Tel’vaiel, anger at not knowing what to do, anger at the anger. The primalists and the Zaqali bore the brunt of it as she hammered her targets with wave after wave of brute, arcane force. It was a little unhinged, and she felt better in the wake of it, but that could’ve maybe gone better. More focused was a good goal for next time, less riding the wave.
Xylaes and Garren could’ve died. They didn’t, somehow. It had been hard to see exactly what happened from how far away she’d been, but they were miraculously perfectly fine. It wasn’t any of her business what had transpired, but she would be lying to herself if she said she didn’t want it to be.
But it couldn’t be her business yet. Xylaes wasn’t thrilled, as expected. There hadn’t been any time to really reconcile any of that before they had to move into action. That could’ve gone better, too, but she’d done her best to keep her distance and tried to lessen her overall presence by keeping her mouth shut, minding her business, and maintaining as low a profile as possible in the early hours — which had been pretty easy, considering how tired she’d been from the gallery.
That exhaustion compounded.
Sitting around the fire well on into the evening with mercenaries from other bands who happened to be in the same area had been nice. They were able to swap stories and check in, trade potions, drink and food. Xylaes had come by briefly after his watch had ended, and it was a little stupid how happy it made her just to hear him laugh at Ryland’s bright commentary on the nature of being pounded.
One by one everyone drifted away, back to their individual camps, leaving them alone together. That could’ve been better. But it could’ve been worse, too. They were both, probably, exhausted. She certainly was. And she hadn’t really known what to say— sorry might’ve been a good start, but the tension was harder to navigate than she’d expected, and he did need to go check on Garren.
She set up her own personal tent out of line of sight while still being within the camp boundary, and attached the demi-plane magical Penthouse spell to the back wall of that tent before retreating inside. The meals Keranna had packed her could wait; she wasn’t particularly hungry, she hadn’t been particularly hungry for months, and the shed weight had made her look much more willowy and lean, like Pyraelia.
But the lights would stay on overnight in the demi-plane magical Penthouse, and the sleep she desperately needed would come faster than not. Everything could’ve been better. Everything could’ve been worse.
Tomorrow would be tomorrow’s problem, and that was enough for now.

ooogh, horrible horrible ideas for Naz in the story chapter I need to write...
What Lies Beneath spoilers
Nastazya and Marcus' Lion's Arch home, sitting on the couch there. Mid-catastrophising, and Marcus trying his best.
---
"I'll be the end of the charr, killing and corrupting is what I was born to do... Those voices were right, they all were! Bangar only went after Jormag because I had Aurene! We went into a civil war, lost so many of us and got us corrupted into frost legion all because I was the spark to the flame!"
"Naz, you know that's not fair on you, you didn't have any choice! Bangar's who mobilised them, not you!"
"But he only did that because of ME! We lost too many, Rytlock and Crecia lost Ryland, Ursa and Patia lost Maxim. I had to kill Elexus, even got Almorra killed! Who knows how many more warbands lost their families all because I'm this DAMNED DRAGON 'CHAMPION'!"
"Nastazya! You need to calm down, that was all far out of your hands! You're not the one to blame!"
"How the hell am I not to blame?! Everything went to shit all because of who I am, even before I was the 'Champion' I still got Faust branded! Tullia, Graw and Clio all died because I had to rush in to a brandstorm, all just to kill my own branded mother! I was always like thi-"
"NASTAZYA! STOP!" Marcus yells, utter sorrow laced in every word. He quickly pulls her near, nuzzled beneath his neck while he attempts to comfort her. Left paw brushing down the back of her neck, he can feel her quiver as her sobs begin, and soon he shares in this. "Nastazya... Please... It's not your fault, it's NOT your fault... I don't know what you saw in that Haze, but it twists you, twists what you know."
"Marc... It- it was all so raw. I can still feel the impact, that those words were true." Nastazya mutters amidst her weeps, bringing a hand up to grip upon her mate's arm for support, for consolation.
"...The Haze, it... made me think Mallyx was in my head, even saw Kalla's warband as demons. And that wasn't true." The next words, he's unsure to share. But if he can't do it, he can't expect his mate to either, so with a light-voiced tone he reveals. "...It also showed me you, you... blamed me for abandoning you to chase after Rytlock in the Mists. You blamed me for letting Balthazar kill you, and still do to this day. Is that... All true?"
Nastazya falls stock still, her cries catch to silence. Now she knows all of that is not what she feels, she's just happy Marcus is still here by her side after everything. "What...? No. No, no, that's not true at all-! Why would you even think that?"
"Because the Haze made me, just like it's making you blame yourself right now." His embrace around his mate's neck and back grows a slight tighter, his breath staggers followed by a sniffle. "You see? It's not true, you're not to blame. You aren't..."
Ragewelder is silent for a while, meekly nuzzling her snout in the crook of her mate's neck. "...Burn me, how the hell are we meant to get through this? It all feels too much. How are we-?"
Furyclash cuts off his mate's words before she starts falling into another spiral, he needs to support her above all else right now, he needs her support at that too. "We'll get through this, Naz... We always do, always have done..."

WIP Wednesday - The Tragic Tale of Madalena Trevelyan (née Lavigne)
Tumblr media
Born in 8:88 Blessed Age to Isabeau and Tielo Lavigne from Hunter Fell, Nevarra. She's essentially considered a princess of Nevarra but is very unlikely to ever rule since she's 32nd in line for the throne. She was the only surviving girl (her mother had 3 other girls that all died shortly after birth) and middle child with 3 older brothers and 2 younger brothers:
Quirin (8 yr older)
Hendrik (4 yr older)
Brandon (1 yr older)
Nikolas (5 yr younger)
Theo (11 yr younger)
When their family started to suffer financially from some ill-placed investments, they decided to use their ties to the Chantry and Nevarran crown as a bargaining chip when seeking a match for their only daughter. Luckily, it just so happened that word had gotten out that the renown Teyrn of Ostwick was also seeing a match for his eldest son, Ryland, as he had just came of age for marriage. Seeing as the boy was only 3 years older than Madalena and belonged to a powerful family, Tielo knew what he had to do.
Betrothed at the tender age of 13, Madalena didn't meet her future husband until they married three years later. However, during this 3 year courting period, it was encouraged by Madalena's mother to have them write to one another to ease the girl's nerves. Since it was a tradition that the bride and groom were not allowed to officially meet until their wedding celebration, Ryland's father allowed for this to happen.
Over the course of the three years, the two youngsters fell in love and were overjoyed when their wedding day finally came. Within months after their wedding, Madalena was found to be pregnant with their first child, Sara.
Very skilled at herbology like her mother, Isabeau Lavigne, she became quite a skilled healer and often concocted tinctures, salves and other remedies. Ryland's father didn't like that his daughter-in-law was "acting below her station" by interacting with slaves, commoners and other undesirables since he thought it embarrassed the Trevelyan family. however, Ryland knew that his new bride had a gift and knew how much she enjoyed it so he let her continue.
After giving birth to their first child, Sara, Madalena was weakened and bedridden for a while. During this time, Ryland's father was worried that she would die without producing a male heir for their family line and advised his son to tread lightly. Ryland ignored him and doted on his wife and paid for the best physicians to care for her. She recovered but it left her weaker than before. Not that this stopped her from using her gifts to help others, despite her Father-in-law telling to save her strength since she'd need it to produce an heir. Within their first 10 years of marriage, Madalena had suffered multiple still births and miscarriages which was only made worse by the constant pressures from her Father-in-law, Council and others to produce an heir.
Shortly after Sara's 3rd birthday, after Madalena had just gotten off bed rest from her 2nd miscarriage, Ryland had gotten fed up with his Father's constant demands for him to set his wife aside and marry somebody else to produce an heir that they had a falling out and his father was sent away from Ostwick Palace to one of his other estates along the coast of the Waking Sea.
During these first 10 years, Madalena devoted her time and energy to her makeshift clinic and spending time with Sara, making sure to sit in on her studies and teach her about her home of Hunter Fell in Nevarra. Nearing her 11th year of marriage, she finally became pregnant and gave birth to another healthy baby girl whom she named, Emely.
About 3 years before becoming pregnant with her second child, Madalena was walking through the Agora (marketplace) in search of supplies for her clinic when she passed a live slave auction that caught her attention. Every one of the slaves being auctioned off by the Rivani slave owner were elves; One of the elves was clearly pregnant. Outraged, she stepped forward and bought the entire group, much to some of the men in the crowd's dismay. Once bought, she had her guards help them take off the barbaric collars the slave owner had them wear and gave them a choice of freedom or possible employment at the palace. Most chose freedom and left but a handful, including the pregnant woman, chose to work since most of their loved ones were slaughtered by the slave owner's men when they attacked their Dalish camp.
So she could keep an eye on the pregnant woman and her condition, Madalena offered the woman a position as her lady's maid. They grew close and Madalena delivered her child, a healthy elven baby girl. Unfortunately, the woman passed away before she had a chance to name her child so she named the baby after her late mother, Evelyn. As the child grew, she made sure that the little girl was well cared for and taught her alongside her own daughter and another elven girl who was a couple years older named Daphne.
Despite being weakened more by the birth of her, she continued to follow up on the girls and treated them as her own, despite the disapproval from the Council.
The next year, Madalena became pregnant once more but with twins! A bittersweet moment for the Teyrn and Teyrna since it sapped her energy to the point that she was bedridden for most of it since the previous two previous full term pregnancies had weakened her already weak constitution. Despite the disapproval of the Council, Ryland was by her side and constantly checking in on her, worried.
Eventually, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy and girl, whom they named Leon and Alena. (Alena, or Lena, as most know her as, later becomes the Inquisitor!)
Unfortunately, the birth of the twins was a mixed blessing. On one hand, they finally had a male heir to continue the Trevelyan bloodline and rule Ostwick but on the other hand, the double birth nearly killed Madalena. For a year, she laid in bed, too weak to get up or do anything. Ryland had the best physicians in all of Thedas come to the palace in hopes of helping her but to no avail. As the twins were about to turn 2, one of the physicians suggested an experimental treatment they may help. For a while, it seemed to be helping her S.she gained enough strength to be able to sit up in bed. Ryland often ordered the cooks to have his and his wife's food to be sent to her room so that they may eat together. Before long, Madalena, with the aid of her lady's maids, was able to stand and walk to the nursery to see her three younger children and sit in on a couple lessons with Sara, Daphne, and Evelyn.
However, this was short-lived as she started losing strength and was unable to get out of bed once more. Desperate, Ryland had heard of a witch/mage who could cure any illness. He seemed her out and brought her to the Palace, offering riches and everything she could want to cure his wife. The witch tried what she could but before long, Madalena finally succumbed to her illness. She passed away at the young age of 29 when her twins were only 3 years old.
Furious and heartbroken at his wife's passing, Ryland had the witch locked up in the dungeons and charged with the unlawful use of blood magic and murder. She was set to be executed but disappeared from her cell and was never seen or heard from again.
As Ryland went into mourning his wife and secluded himself from his children who reminded him of her, the Council ruled that the two Elven girls who the late Teyrna saved would be taken away from their studies with the Teyrn's eldest and taught to serve, "as is their place" with the rest of the servants in the household. Both girls would train to become ladies-in-waiting to the two youngest Trevelyan girls.

The Supernatural Love
Like a Movie:
September 25th 2021
"Welcome to my world, guys. Let me introduce myself. I am Olivia Summers. I am 19 years old. I am currently studying at UCLA in Music. I am in my junior year of college. No, I didn't go to college early. I just bumped up 2 grades. So I went to college at 17.
We all know that every fairytale ends with a happy ending. Mine is happier than you could ever think. Continue to watch my vlogs if you want to know what happened.
My parents died in a car accident 2 years ago. I have no siblings. Well, I have a second family. They would adopt me but I thought being their sister would be kinda stressful. Do you guys know who they are? It's the Lynches. Let me tell you guys how we all met. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Flashback:
August 20th 2018
I was walking through the streets with my friends after the filming of Alex And Ava. [{(Spinoff of Austin and Ally. Not a real show. I hope it is soon.)}] We were going to Starbucks when someone crashed into me with a skateboard. Before that, I saw a pair of the most beautiful hazel eyes and a "Watch out!"
We crashed and stared at each other for a while.
"Uhmm......." My bestie Emily [Emily Chavez] coughed. We broke out of our trance. We got up and I brushed the dirt off my jeans.
"I am so sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going." He said. Hey, it sounded familiar.
"Clear-" I looked up to see THE ARDEN HALE staring at me.
"OMG! You're Arden Hale!" I looked behind him to see all of the Hales.
"And you guys are the Hales! OMG, my dream is coming true!" I said
If you don't know Arden Hale is the most famous person in this world. He has made many movies and all of them are like no. 1 on every movie chart. He and his family are also vloggers. So, I know all of them. Charlotte and Oliver Hale are the mother and father. Then the sequence is Noah, Birdie, Elijah, Arden and Ryland Hale.
"Do you know them?" Emily said.
"Who are you? These are the people I talk to you 24/7." I said.
"Hey, how are you?" Ryland, the youngest sibling said.
"I'm good. How are you all?" I said.
I earned a "We're good" from all of them.
"Hey, Olivia. I gotta go. Mom's calling." Emily said.
"Okay, I'll see you later," I said as she walked off
"Okay, I'll see you guys later," I said as they walked away.
"It's always good to meet a fan. What's your name?" Arden asked.
"I'm Olivia Summers." I said.
"That's a really pretty name," Noah said. I smiled.
"Thanks. Hey, is it cool if I take a selfie?" I asked.
"Yeah sure. come here." Ryland said. Everyone huddled in close to each other to fit the frame.
"This pic is so going to be my wallpaper," I said.
"Can you send that picture to us?" Birdie asked.
They all took my phone and put in their numbers. I was smiling on the outside. But on the inside, boy was I screaming.
"Hey, you know what we should do, let's go hang out and get to know you better," Elijah suggested.
"That's not a bad idea. I would love to know more about you guys." I smiled.
That's how I met this lovely yet wacko family.
Silly Noah
Cute Birdie
Caring Eli
Cray cray Arden
Nice Ry Ry
I have a great relationship with all of them, especially Noah, Birdie and Arden. Before you suspect anything, no I don't have a crush on any of the Hale boys. They are my best friends. I would choose them over anyone any day. I love them so much.
Noah POV:
I heard my best friend talking about us in her vlogs. Let's eavesdrop. What? It's my thing.
"Well, I have a second family. They would adopt me but I thought being their sister would be kinda stressful. What do you know it is? It's the Hales. I have a great relationship with all of them, especially Noah, Birdie and Arden. Before you suspect anything, no I don't have a crush on any of the Hale boys. They are my best friends. I would choose them over anyone any day. I love them so much." She said,
"Hey, that was sweet!" I yelled.
"Thanks, Noah! I told the truth." She yelled.
I left her to film her introduction video. I am so proud of her. First, her casting in a tv series. Second, is her vlog channel.
I went to the backyard to play table tennis. I saw Elijah playing alone.
"Hey man. Mind if I join in?" I said.
"Be my guest. I don't have anyone to play with." He said as we started our tournament.
2 hours later:
"I won fair and square," I said.
"You distracted me by saying that Olivia was filming, it's not fair," Rocky yelled.
"What's with all the yelling?" Olivia came in.
"We were playing table tennis and he won," Rocky said.
"Oh, Noah. Honey, what did you do? 'Cause, let's face it, you're not a very good table tennis player." Olivia said.
"Well, I did nothing. I won fair and square." I said,
"Let me give you an example of how bad you are. You lost a damn table tennis game to Ryland who is like, 7 years younger than you!" Olivia said, basically yelling. Eli smirked.
"THAT WAS 1 TIME!" I said.
"What's going on?" Mom came.
"Well, Noah and Eli are fighting over who is the winner of table tennis." Olivia frowned, crossing her hands on her chest.
"Let me tell you who won. Noah won. Give the poor guy a chance, Eli. Now, I don't want to hear any more arguments." Mom said.
"Well, I agree with mom. Give him a chance." Liv said. She calls my mom her mom and my dad her dad because she's been living with us for so long that we are her family.
Eli pouted as we all went inside laughing and Noah did his victory dance.
This is what happens pretty much every day, just like in a movie.

pairing(?): Danny Johnson (Ghostface) x Reader
Notes: This was originally part of that Danny x reader x frank story I told y'all that Im working on, but I changed my outline so I cut it, which is why it starts and ends weird and is short. I was going through some of my old writings I've done and found it and decided to post (ik Im lazy ) bc we love Danny and it satisfies me .
TW: SA attempt, very gross pervy character, depictions of the murder of said character tho, blood. It’s Ghostface duh there will be murder
You should have known allowing one of the school jocks to take you out on a date, which took a lot of convincing on his part, would have ended terribly..
“You fucking bitch!” Ryland yelled, his hand holding onto the bleeding nose. His eyes followed your movements as you quickly stepped back after his release on your arm, hand falling by your side in shock by your own action.
At seeing the blood coating his fingers, his eyes rapidly changed from shock to fury as he continued to step towards you, his fist clenching.
“I told you to get your hands off me !” You panicked as you felt like your option to simply walk away from the boy diminished with the way he was stalking towards you. Eyes darted around the isolated area. You felt like an idiot for letting him drive you out here but you didn’t know the boy was going to try to force himself on you .
Ryland only wiped at his nose roughly before grabbing you by the shoulder and shoving you backwards harshly, a pained yelped echoing through the woods once your back collided with the grassed floor. You felt the breath forced out of you by the impact, groaning as you felt him tower over you.
“What-what are you doing!” His hands gripped your legs after an attempt to scoot away, pulling you towards him as he sat on them. His hands reaching towards your shirt, successful pushing it halfway up your stomach.
You felt sick at feeling his hands touch the side of your stomach, palms pushing against his chest as hard as you could. “What the fuck! Get off me!!”
“Cmon, don’t be a prude. I promise you’ll enjoy it.” He placed his hand over you mouth at a weak attempt to shush you as he began to kiss your beck neck. Each contact from his lips burned on your skin, breath quickening once you realized he was really set out on what he wanted to do.
Feeling his hand slightly loosen around your mouth, you took the opportunity to sink your teeth into the side of his palm and pinkie. The metallic taste falling on your tongue before the sound of his pained yell entered your ears and the hand was pulled away.
Ryland gripped his hand in shock before bringing his other hand up and quickly slapping your across the face. The force causing your head to snap to the side , banging onto the ground for the second time.
Your swore your vision blackedned for a second, the pounding against your skull making it hard for you to focus fully on fighting back. You really were helpless. His hands grabbed onto the waist of your jeans , causing for you to weakly move your heads towards him.
The pathetic attempt of saying ‘stop’ died on your lips at the sight of a cloaked figure behind the brunette that was too busy concentrating on the zipper of the pants. Your eyes widened in horror focusing on the white mask stuck on that frightening expression that you’ve seen before.
Ghost face simply tilted its head, a sharp knife appearing in a wave.
Ryland finally noticed the look on your face, eyes brows furrowing in confusion before turning to look at what you caught your attention. He didn’t get a chance to process before the hand with the knife was brought in one quick motion, slitting the boy’s throat.
You watched in shock as the boy hands came up to hold his throat, blood slipping between his fingers as the force in the swing turned him towards you once again. His eyes nearly bulging out of his head as he looked towards you helplessly
His body convulsed as he coughed, blood splattered from his lips onto your face. You merely only flinched at the contact, body frozen in terror. Your body began to feel numb as you watched him attempt to stand up but only was successful in stumbling towards the side, his knees digging into the grass as he tried crawling away.
ghostface simply walked slowly behind , shaking his head slightly. The boy’s gargling and attempts at breathing was the only source of sound surrounded them, any life in the woods hiding themselves, as though watching the whole exchange.
He didn’t notice any of this in his struggle to reach his truck only a few feet away. One hand not holding his wound reaching towards it. A foot collided to his side, forcing him on his back. A strangled cry vibrated from his chest when the masked killer finally plunged the knife in his chest, pulling it out and bringing back down with more force.
You finally managed to tear your eyes away, body gaining back its senses. You flinched at every sound that the knife made slicing the boys skin. It felt like a life time before it finally stopped and Ryland body went limp. His glazed over eyes stuck on the sky.
Your ears caught on your own heavy breathing, whole body shaking as you stared a spot in the grass. The sound of footsteps surrounded the still night before Ghostface knelt in front of you, his gloved fingers sliding across the sharp metal, wiping the blood away. You finally looked up at him, eyes looking right at the blackened eyes on the mask.
“Are you going to kill me?” A whisper , not daring to break eye contact. Ghostface stayed silent for a few moments, before a hand reached up, ignoring the flinching, and placed on you cheek.
“We’re going to have fun.”

February Daily Writing Challenge 2022 Day 3 - Shine
Warnings: Mentions of drugs/overdosing/death (This references his performance at Glitter is in the Air found --> HERE!)
Two weeks ago
It was never easy for Ryland to speak about his past. His hardships weren’t all that different from anyone else’s on Azeroth; everyone had their own journeys filled with loss, guilt, grief, and uncertainty. He would rather laugh and enjoy the time he had left with his friends and found family; life was too fleeting in this world and he wasn’t without enemies. The future was never promised.
But everyone needed their own personal outlet, it wasn’t healthy to bottle up all the emotions all the time. The last time Ryland attempted to do that was after the unsolved and unexpected murder of his new fiancée, Sela. He found himself overdosing on dusts and spent a few terrible days in a run-down clinic; it was a less than ideal solution and he learned his lesson. It didn’t cure the grief, in fact, it only made it worse.
It was dance that eventually brought him out of the hole he had dug for himself. The shine of a bright spotlight had become a safe space to Ryland. It was there he was able to express a variety of emotions without ever having to say a word. And it helped. Whether it was showcasing his skills alone on the stage, go-go dancing on a platform in a loud nightclub, or even blending in with a crowd of sweaty bodies writhing to the beat, this was home to Ryland. It was just a fun hobby when he was younger, but now he realized this was what he was meant to do.
Ryland rolled onto his back and stared up at the aerial hoop hanging above. After joining the Tarts he had spent the vast majority of his free time practicing and polishing his moves. Today, he was working on….falling off the hoop and slamming onto the mat-covered ground. It was an important part of the storytelling in his routine, even if not everyone would understand the reason behind it. He had to make it look unexpected and painful; ripped away from his grasp with brute force.
Because that is exactly how it felt when it happened.
It was the story of his relationship with Sela: About how everything was beautiful and almost perfect, and how they were always there to support one another. Then suddenly she was ripped away from him without warning, leaving him off balance and clumsy, barely able to stand. It was a difficult routine, both physically and mentally, but it was something he felt he needed to do. Especially since it was during this time of year that she died. It was just as much for him as it was for her, even though he was still left with many unanswered questions.
Once upon a time Red offered the attempt to reach out to Sela in the afterlife. Knowing Red, it wasn’t an offer made lightly or given to many; he kept the knowledge about possessing such skills very close to his chest. It was perfectly feasible that she could be found and able to respond given the circumstances of her death. There was a lot of unfinished business there, most importantly who did it to her and why. What if he didn’t like the answers? It may not provide the closure he needed, but may open the door for revenge. Was it worth it though? Maybe just to talk to her one last time and say goodbye. The idea had been tabled for years and the thought only brought about anxiety. Perhaps one day.
Reluctantly forcing himself upright, he scrubbed both hands down his face and rubbed at the side of his thigh. The fall felt better that time, but would still leave a bruise. Bruises were something he was unlikely able to escape in this particular instance, such was the life of a dancer. Lowering the hoop, he lifted himself up into a seated position. Time to start again.

I finally finished Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
I am the world’s slowest reader; it took me over a week to finish it. I create a picture of the scenes in my head like I’m watching a movie, which my family says is weird. Apparently when they read, they just see words, but surely they’re the weird ones, right? Am I an outlier or them? Is this one of those things we’re you say the word “apple” and ask someone what they think of, and some people say they see an apple but others say they just think of the concept of an apple?
I’m getting off topic.
I really liked this book! It is my second favorite of his three; The Martian will always be on top (it’s one of my favorite books of all time, next to World War Z and The Time Traveler’s Wife), and Artemis has my favorite setting, but Project Hail Mary had all the science I love without it becoming incomprehensible. The main character is super smart, he picks up on things, he figures stuff out, he isn’t like other generic audience-surrogate protagonists who aren’t allowed to know anything the reader doesn’t know. He is ahead of us at all times, but he doesn’t feel like a Mary Sue because he makes mistakes and explains everything in simple enough terms that you believe he could do everything he does. The book holds the reader’s hand with the science, but not in a patronizing way; one of the blurbs on the back said it was like reading a book written by your favorite science teacher, and it’s not wrong!
I love Rocky. That little alien rock spider holds a special place in my heart, and I really hope they make a movie of this just so I can see what Andy Weir intended him to look like. The picture I have of him in my head is basically a big orange-brown roomba with legs. Minor spoiler warning: I also love that his mate didn’t leave him after all the decades he was gone. Happy ending!
I freaking HATE Stratt. I wanted Ryland to punch her in the face; I wanted him to return to Earth just so he could have the last laugh while she’s old and decrepit and dying. I don’t think Weir will ever expand on this book, but I would love to read about what happened on Earth while the Hail Mary was gone. The socioeconomic and geopolitical implications really pique my interests; I’ve been getting into war stories a lot recently, and the apocalyptic food shortages implied in the text would certainly kick off World War III, though we learn at the end of the book that whatever vestiges of mankind survived the wars eventually solved the astrophage problem with the data the Beetles collected from Adrian (that sentence makes sense if you read the book)
Weir is an optimist. I don’t want to call him naive because he’s way smarter than me, but his books represent a side of humanity I forgot existed. Everyone works together, countries cooperate to solve problems and save lives, people can look past their petty squabbles and collaborate for the greater good. In reality, Mark Watney would have died on Mars, Artemis would be run by the Brazilian Mafia, and Earth would destroy itself before fixing the astrophage problem, but in Weir’s books it’s like every problem is solvable if you science the shit out of it.
I wish more people had read Project Hail Mary by now so I can geek out about it with them! If you’ve read it, feel free to hit me up.
The only problem I have is that Weir just hand-waves the xenonite. He never even tries to explain how Rocky’s people create super-diamond-metal out of the inert noble gas xenon. He lampshades it, says it doesn’t make sense, and leaves it at that. I guess he sort of had to do that. It’s a MacGuffin, integral to the plot but there’s really no reason we need to know how it works, just that it works regardless. Any technobabble explanation he came up with would feel half-assed, though I believed his technobabble explanation about neutrinos and germs living on the sun, so who knows? Xenonite works because it needs to work. C’est la vie.

Okay, throwing some thoughts out here, so miscellaneous Icebrood Saga: Judgment spoilers under the cut!
I AM SO GLAD BRAHAM IS STILL ALIVE. HOLY SHIT. I so wanted to be able to give him a hug when we found him and pulled him out of the snow; why wasn’t that an option? (Kidding in terms of gameplay, but I’m definitely writing a fic at some point where Kerra gives him a hug. Or it’ll just live in my brain. One way or the other.)
I had a feeling that if Braham survived, Ryland would too, and yep, I was right. And he got stabbed because of course, and of course it was Rytlock, and of course he stabbed him with Sohothin. There’s most likely a lore and/or pain post to be written about that one.
I liked that Ryland kept the ice-saw and that it didn’t change back to a flame-saw after Jormag died. Ryland didn’t change without Jormag, so why would his weapon?
I’d missed the instanced content where you can actually talk to people, so I was super happy to see it come back. I don’t absolutely hate the DRMs, but I definitely prefer instanced stuff when it comes to the story.
Aurene using the magic from the ley lines to sever the champions’ connections with their dragons was really neat and I liked that concept! Actually using the fact that she’s a prism for magic, hell yeah! (And we got to do the crystal-wings thing again, which I was very much a fan of!) And having some of the magic go to what I assume is Steve the deep sea dragon made sense and is a decent jumping-off point for EOD.
The aesthetic was excellent, and I loved the art! Primordus and Jormag had excellent designs, and the attacks seemed good to me (though Jormag will absolutely freeze your ass off if you don’t get out of the way in time, be warned).
I almost got exasperated when they were like, “whoops, you have to hit them more than once!” But it wasn’t actually tiresome for me when I went to do it, and they had less health after the first time, so it wasn’t a pain, either. (And it makes sense--it’d take more than one hit to take down an Elder Dragon.)
This could have just been me (‘cause I know I’m not the most experienced player in the world), but Braham was harder to fight than Ryland--and I don’t mean in terms of “I don’t want to fight you” (though that too of course) but in terms of literal mechanics. He moved and jumped so much and it was harder to bring his health bar down. Not super difficult or impossible or anything, just harder than Ryland, which I thought was a neat parallel even if it’s just for me.
The Commander is a hypocrite. Yep, 100% agree, Braham. You still need a nap. And a hug. Anet, let us hug Braham, please.
Aurene felt guilty, and she shouldn’t (in terms of I don’t want her to--it’s definitely in character). Not everything is your fault, sweetheart. Along those lines, I liked that we got to talk to her at the end! And Braham, and Gorrik and Taimi and Jhavi!
Taimi and Braham need to actually talk about things. I know they couldn’t fit in every conversation, but that’s one I would have liked to see, and it’s one I hope they have in the future.
Can’t wait to see Taimi and Gorrik’s research and what they find out (even if we know or can guess at some of the answers).
Ryland insulting Rytlock and Crecia was expected, for sure, but it’s also interesting because he’s insulting who they were at the beginning of the saga, not who they are now, because he doesn’t know enough about them now to give them updated insults.
It also made me very curious if we’re going to get updates on the Khan-Ur situation, which is by far not the most important thing going on and I’m glad they didn’t focus on it here, but I still would like answers at some point.
I just thought of this but Crecia trapped Ryland in flame in a parallel to how she protected Smodur from him earlier in the saga, right after mentioning Cinder. Ow.
And for everyone’s Commander who’s terrified of fire (Kerra included), fighting Braham has an extra nightmare attached to it, so...fun times.
What happened to the Frozen? Are they free? Still trapped? My guess is free since it was magic Jormag ice and Jormag is dead, but that wasn’t answered (I don’t think) and I really would like to know!
Also, what exactly was the death toll from Jormag and Primordus throughout this whole thing? I don’t need super specific numbers, but estimating is hard and my only conclusion is that it was a Lot, which is slightly too vague for my brain.
Is Aurene going to end up as the only Elder Dragon? Can she hold that much magic alone? The fact that the next part is called End of Dragons continues to scare me.
Gonna end this with: I thought this was a decent finale! I almost wish it could have been longer, but that’s more because I love doing story things and crave more of it than because I thought it was badly paced. (I do think they could have made it at least a bit longer, though, and I would have appreciated that.) They didn’t kill Braham, which was my biggest fear, and he gets to recover and be okay. Two Elder Dragons are dead, as is Ryland, and we’ll be going to Cantha eventually.
First living world season that I’ve been around to play during the release of the ending chapter, and I’m pretty satisfied with it! I’m sure I’ll come up with more complaints later since my default mode is positive, and I still have questions, but overall opinion at this point: pretty good!

I think for me the thing that I would imagine hurts Archer the most is realizing that Eleanor is ultimately okay with letting Ryland raise Aubrey as his own. That she isn’t willing to leave her husband, and let Archer raise his own child. She’s putting the crown and her duty to the crown (because at this point that’s what her and Ryland’s marriage is, despite the love that used to be there) over him and their child. To me that’s what would hurt the most. She never had any intention of letting Archer be a part of Aubrey’s life if she turned out to be his. And I think all these years Archer secretly was holding on to the hope that Eleanor would sacrifice it all for him and their love. But sadly she isn’t willing to do that. She wasn’t willing to when she agreed to marry Ryland for her family. And she isn’t willing to now that she and Archer share a child. It’s really sad and I hope Archer realizes that, because no matter how much Eleanor loves him she will never love him as much as he loves her. Archer would throw away his entire life for Eleanor. But she’s never been willing to do the same in return. It can be argued her sleeping with him and having the baby realizing it could be his was her throwing her life away for him. But to me it’s not the same, because even though she imploded her life for him in reality this severely is limited to a select number of people and Eleanor will still put her duty to the crown first when all is said and done: and that means keeping Aubrey’s true parentage a secret and carrying on with business as usual.
Everything Eleanor has done has been for the sake of the crown/her duty...but for reasons you've pointed out, that's not always the right choice. AND we have to remember that right now the crown is her mother, so her mother is to blame a bit as well. SHE'S the one that made the deal with asshat for the marriage, SHE'S the one that had ample opportunities to back out the arrangement. Eleanor felt that if she was the one to back out that she'd be disowned and/or that the throne would pass over her to Everly's family. It was impossible for her to know what was the right choice....Things also started falling apart after Eleanor's grandmother died. Grandma was a better source for guidance for Eleanor than her mother was, without that guidance Eleanor was left to flounder and HOPE she was making the right choices.
As for the rest...Eleanor is only human...her heart has always wanted one thing while her brain understands duty comes first. But we shall see how Eleanor handles the Aubrey thing moving forwards...

Generator Rex - Rewrite!
So I’ve mentioned and drawn things tied to my rewrite of Generator Rex, made between me, my friend and brother. I thought I’d give a basic timeline in what happens in this version through the notes I have, so feel free to read and see what we have to offer. I hope you enjoy what we’ve made, and feel free to ask any questions because I have probably left out many things still. Warning, this does get quite long to read, so you’ll need the time to do that, lol. I am also in the process of writing the Ben 10 Rewrite me and my brother wrote, though that is far longer so it will be a while for it come out, but let me know if you are interested in seeing it! 💙
-History-
Prior-Nanite Event
Violeta, as a child, is adopted by Abuela, raised in the small village/family she looks over.
A young teenager Black Knight, back when she went by her real name Ebony Hale, lived with her single father, who she was close to. Unfortunately, during a break-in gone wrong, he is killed by a burglar. Sadly, not enough evidence was found to convince the suspected murder, despite Ebony’s claims, mostly because of the corrupt and lazy criminal justice system. She is placed into foster care, and starts seeing all the dark sides to the world, due to troubling systems and powerful people, causing Ebony to grow this need for control and dreams of setting the world straight in her own ways.
Van Kleiss is kicked out of his home around when he turns 18, unable to live up to his parents’ expectations, doing what he can to scrape by in life, taking odd jobs and even living out on the streets a few times. He has many failed friendships or relationships of any kind, and starts to distance himself with people because of this.
Ebony jumps around studies, learning things such as law, psychology, basically anything that ties into her goal of making the world what she thinks is best suited for it.
Violeta meets Rafael Salazar during her school studies at university, the two becoming friends and eventually sparking a romantic connection. Violeta is also introduced to Rafael's long time friend Gabriel Rylander.
A young Six is found and taken in by One, and begins his training with the other members.
Van Kleiss is involved in a horrific accident that takes his arm. But during his recovery with a prosthetic, he meets Cassandra who is his physiotherapist, who manages to build a connection with him, the two even eventually falling in love.
Early in their marriage, Rafael and Violeta have their first son, Caesar Salazar. It would be another 13 years before they have their next one, as the family gets busy with travelling due to all the job opportunities they get.
Plans of the nanite project slowly start to become something over time.
Rex Salazar is born during the time the family is staying around Switzerland. A few others like Noah are also born around this time or closely to this year, including Circe from both Van Kleiss and Cassandra.
At the young age of five, Rex and his family are brought onto the nanite project by the suggestion of Rylander.
Van Kleiss’s wife, Cassandra, unfortunately, contracts an untreatable disease and passes away. This is the start of Van Kleiss building up his walls once more, but he tries to ignore his guilt and grief for the sake of himself and his daughter.
After doing his best to hold his life together and finishing up his schooling, Van Kleiss ends up joining the nanite project in honour of his wife. He has many strained relationships with his co-workers due to misguided judgement on both sides, even gaining quite the rivalry with Caesar. However, he and Circe end up befriending Rex, and Van Kleiss somehow ends up babysitting the two quite often.
Meanwhile, a young girl named Emiri (Breach), is adopted into a family, even gaining a younger sister named Mary.
New main nanites are made for the project. The first being the Alpha Nanite, which is the leading nanite that can control them all, used mostly to keep them under control or pass out orders or new updates. The other is the Omega, which can control a selected group of nanites that are nearby, but it is also the key to using the Alpha, as only those who have access to the Omega can have access to the Alpha. The Omega is mostly used for maintenance and testing, perhaps to select out nanites that need fixing or to make the Alpha do something.
Unfortunately, Rex and Circe sneak away at one point when Van Kleiss is distracted, keen to play hide and seek. Rex ends up finding himself in a nanite room with the Omega, and after messing around with his soccer ball, get caught in a lab accident. Heavy damage if done to his body, and the nanites in the room were broken out of containment and were altered by the lab damage in some ways, finding themselves in Rex. When the others finally got him out of the room and into the medical centre, a decision was made to keep the nanites in Rex, and have the Omega help in his recovery, making him the first patient to be using the nanites. He survives but with...unusual side effects, giving him technological powers that let him control tech around him, and even understand and talk to it, including the nanites. This also drives a wedge between the Salazars and Kleiss family, so whatever peaceful grounds were forming them are gone, even if Rex still tries to remain friends with Van Kleiss and Circe.
Eventually, a new member joins as an assistant, Ebony Hale. She mostly takes care of the minor things, and even ends up becoming the new person to watch over Rex, and the two do form a friendly dynamic with each other. However, what the scientists don’t know is that Ebony is really a spy for the Consortium, their main benefactor, as they wanna keep an eye on how the project is going.
Rebecca Holiday, a young and wild college student, learns that her parents died in an accident, and ends up having to take care of her younger sister, while studying. She calms down in her wild ways, and pushes through so much for her sister and herself.
After a while, it is eventually figured out that one, there is a spy among them and they don’t know who, and second, the Consortium actually plan to be in the ones in charge of the nanites, including the Omega and Alpha, as that would give them a lot of control over the world. Given they are greedy rich businessmen. With this learned, the series of events that lead to the nanite event begins to unfold.
Nanite Event
The scientist begins to debate what to do about the project. One section of the team suggests they simply destroy everything to do with the project, deeming it too dangerous for anyone like the Consortium to get their hands on, people like Peter Meechum and Rex’s parents agreeing to this. Another section of the team suggests finding away to remove the Consortium from the plan and get another benefactor, just being careful with the project as there is too much to just throw away, people like Rylander and Van Kleiss agreeing to this. And one other section of the team didn’t really care if the Consortium did get their hands on it, as this was what they were paying to do, Caesar actually being in this group (He was often too absorbed in his work, which made him narrow-sighted unfortunately.). After much debate, it was eventually settled to just end the project.
However, Ebony caught wind of this, and informed the Consortium. Wanting to save the project, they hired arm soldiers to...clean up the members of the project, planning to replace them all with a new team eventually. But Ebony secretly did not agree with this, as she has been doing her best to play both sides, given she had her own plans for the nanite project. Plus, she will admit that she had formed some quite nice relationships with members of the project, so she ended up quietly tipping them off to the up-coming assault anonymously.
The day comes when chaos comes. Some members had already fled, like Rylander and Meechum, who wanted to find their families and vanish. The rest stayed behind to begin destroying all of their work, even Caesar who, while not agreeing with it, helped out in the end. But when armed soldiers started coming in, killing scientists, time was running out fast.
It became apparent they didn’t have time to destroy the Alpha or the Omega, not with the resources they had. So a plan was devised that someone would take the Omega and flee, as without it the Alpha was mostly useless on its own. But the plan ended with giving Rex the Omega, as his connection to tech and the nanites meant he could hide it in him longer than anyone else could, and would head to the docking bay where Caesar would meet up with him to fly out. It was quite a harsh debate, wondering if it was a good idea to put Rex through this, even his parents hated to do this, but they couldn’t risk letting the world being controlled by these people. Van Kleiss and Circe were originally going to accompany Rex to the docking bay, as they had been planning to up and leave too, but a surprise attack from the soldiers caused everyone to split, including Rex with the Omega.
Distressed from everything, Rex finds himself stumbling his way around, unable to focus properly due to everything going on around him, and the effects of the Omega being inside him. He does run into a group of soldiers at one point, but he is let go by them when Ebony appears. The soldiers knew she was the spy and working with them, so when she ordered them to just let the kid by, not knowing what he was hiding, they let Rex go. Ebony supposes she did owe Rex after everything going on…
Van Kleiss and Rex’s parents get into an argument about all that happened, especially with how they involved Rex in everything and how this project went in the end. Van Kleiss leaves the room with his daughter, planning to run, when he is confronted by soldiers, who demand he open the door to where the Salazars were, or else they would kill him and his daughter. Van Kleiss ends up agreeing, despite how hard it was, and ends up letting them kill Rex’s parents as he tries to shelter Circe from everything.
Caesar finds his way to the docking bay where his ship/mobile lab is, but sees no signs of his little brother. He looks around and sees and hears everything the Consortium has done to his home, work, friends and family...It makes him feel guilty and hurt for being so narrow-sighted, for actually thinking it was ok to let these people have control over the times. He wants to go back in to find his family, his brother, but he realises that with everything going on, the lab is about to explode. Due to all the gunfire, violence, scientists messing with machines and computers, and even Rex’s stress affecting the Omega which affects the nanites around him, everything was about to burst. With a heavy heart, Caesar flies off just as the labs explode, creating the nanite event.
Some others managed to escape just before everything went off, including Ebony and some soldiers, but most others don’t survive. However...some were protected by nanites that infected them, as they begin to spread across the globe. Rex also survives thanks to his nanites and the Omega, but all the trauma and stress results in him losing his memories, as he couldn’t handle it, with the nanites wanting to erase it all as a means to ‘help’ Rex cope, in a way…
The mysterious nanite event in history has been marked down….
Post-Nanite Event
The entire world, of course, falls into a panic when people randomly begin turning into monsters after an unknown explosion occurred, the source of the mutations discovered to be tiny machines called nanites. Governments are quick to try and calm the public, and begin starting research on how to stop the nanites and cure those turning into creatures. But fear starts to take control of the world pretty quickly.
Broken from what happened, the small surviving members of the nanite project split off from each other. Peter Meechum returns to family life with his daughter, Rylander tries to confront the Consortium but ends up going on the run from them, having to abandoned his family to keep them safe, and Caesar goes into hiding, in despair over all that he’s lost, believing his parents and Rex to be dead. He isolates himself from the world, working on personal projects to distract himself over the years.
Meanwhile, in Abysus, Van Kleiss discovers his connection to the lands and learns what the nanites are doing to the world. After everything he’s gone through in life, he starts to grow this odd idea that this is the next step in humanity, that it’s time to start fresh and starts his plans on making the entire world creatures like him. Slowly, he builds Abysus into a haven for those who have turned and are still sane, or are sane enough, Abysus turning into this strange yet beautiful overgrown jungle-like place. Circe stands by her father’s side, as he’s all she has left, even if, at times she grows doubtful of who her father is becoming.
Rex, however, wanders out of Abysus sometime after the nanite event, with no memories of what happened. He blacks in and out for the first few weeks, losing his memories over and over again due to the trauma of everything, his body and mind weak but slowly start to recover. But, every time he’s evolved in something highly dangerous he can’t handle, or is close to death, his nanites kick in and take control, kicking him alive until they find somewhere safe to change him back, but this results in him losing his memories again. The Omega, still inside him, slowly begins to evolve and connect with Rex in a deep way that does not notice for a long while, unaware of what’s inside him.
After a few months, Rex somehow finds himself in Hong Kong, first meeting and befriending Tuck. Tuck used to live with his father in an auto shop, but after some bad run-ins with some gangs, his father is killed and Tucks ran out onto the streets, eventually turning EVO. The two of them are picked up by Quarry, who has been making EVO gangs and sees potential in the two, especially Rex. Their team begins to grow when running into ‘Chen Tsui’, who they end up calling Cricket. She uses to be from quite a rich family, that sadly had high expectations for their image, and kicked Cricket out of their home when she turned EVO. Then they run into John Scarecrow, who had quite the sucky life before due to neglectful parents and bullying issues, and eventually ran away from home before turning EVO. Rex and Scarecrow end up butting heads alot. Finally, their last member is Walter Martin, who ends up getting the nickname Skywdd. His parents died when he was very young, and so he was raised by his loving grandmother, even when he turned EVO. However, she passed away one night and while Skywdd called to have the body removed and buried properly, he ran before anyone came as he knew him being EVO would cause problems. The five of them become quite the trouble-making team.
Meanwhile, Emiri’s family undergo many issues when their hometown is invaded by EVOs, the main one being an overgrowth of plants. Sadly, her adopted parents are killed, while she ends up turning EVO, her mind and memory becoming iffy, broken, now having powerful portal powers. She and her adopted sister, Mary, end up fleeing and have to survive on their own, Emiri soon going by the name Breach due to not properly remembering who she once was.
Governments around the world begin to put money towards creating a group called Providence, an anti-EVO force that not only removes and capture dangerous EVOs, but also research on finding a cure. The Consortium become key benefactors towards Providence, with no one knowing their true involvement with the nanites past.
After her sister turns EVO, Holiday convinces them not to kill Beverly by helping and working at Providence, eventually working her way up to become the assistant to their leading scientist Doctor Fell, even if she doesn’t agree to their methods of research.
After some time, Rex starts to drift from his friends in Hong Kong, feeling this longing to be somewhere, to find out who he really is. He tosses around the idea, but after finding some clues that point him in the direction of America, Rex decides to hand over his leadership to Quarry. He hates to leave his friends behind, but due to some emotional manipulation from Quarry and Scarecrow, Rex truly believed it was the best thing for his friends, and that Quarry would protect them. But after he vanishes, Scarecrow pretends to be him for a voice recording, planning to blackmail him if he were to ever return.
The Six’s mostly tried not to get involved with the whole world burning due to the nanite event, but things take a turn when One turns EVO. The group splits, either continuing their mercenary lives, or to find One help. Six ends up joining Providence, after his old friend, Robinson White, convinces him to join the cause, especially when he mentions they’re looking for a cause. Six used to be one who didn’t care much about the life of others, he will admit, but after what happened to one and now actively helping people around the world...he does start to question how this war is affecting people, especially with them killing EVOs who use to be normal people.
While working at Providence, he ends up running into Holiday fairly soon. She catches his interest due to her speaking up about finding another way to look for a cure, even if Dr.Fell and White put her down. Six ends up agreeing with her, to her surprise, and a silent partnership begins to form between the two as they make plans to try something new. They just need something to work in their favour…
Then, one day, they are called to flush out a bunch of EVOs in a ruined city. Things are going normal for them, as normal as they can be, when reports of a mechanical EVO is seen running around, something that looks like a person wearing a parasitic robotic suit. Wild and dangerous. When the EVO shows itself, Holiday and Six are quick to realise that underneath the mutations, there is a young boy. They urge Providence not to attack him, but a twitchy soldier causes a fight to break out and the group is forced to split, with Six guiding Holiday away from the fight. But the two end up running into the strange tech EVO, though after some peaceful gestures, they actually get him to calm down, only for him to turn back into a young boy. Confused of course, they decide to try and take him back to Providence, only for them to learn three things. One, he has no memories beyond knowing his name, second, he is still EVO, and third, he can cure EVOs after saving Six from one.
Holiday and Six decide to keep him a secret for now, not trusting White and Dr.Fell with Rex. They plan to later move him somewhere safe, and for the next few days do their best to hide what Rex is, using the excuse of Holiday looking after him until he can maybe recover some memories.
Rex becomes a bit of a handful, due to his powers sometimes affecting the tech around him, befriending an EVO chimp called Bobo, and even getting scared when learning that Dr.Fell dissects and kills EVOs. However, despite how hard they tried, White does eventually learn what Rex is. White and Fell try to do to Rex what they’ve done to all the other EVOs, but a fight breaks out between them with Six and Holiday. After a brutal fight, it ends with White saving Six, him getting bleached with Nanites, but narrowly saved by Rex.
With the discovery of Rex becoming more open to their benefactors and governments, things change up in Providence. Holiday becomes the new leading scientist, Six becomes Rex’s mentor and partner, Dr.Fell is fired and White becomes the new leader of Providence due to being the one person who can’t turn EVO, now going by the name White Knight.
Meanwhile, the Consortium, knowing Rex’s old ties to the nanite event and where Providence is heading, decide to call in their old Spy, Ebony, to join Providence to keep an eye on things in the background. She agrees, them not knowing that she too is making her own plans when see where Providence is going.
Meanwhile, Abysus has grown to be quite the EVO community, many EVOs seeking refuge with Van Kleiss after he offered them shelter. His main group by his side is called The Pack, which consists of him, Biowulf, Skalamander, Breach and his daughter Circe. And yet, despite how pleased he is seeing his Kingdom grow, seeing the good he has provided for the outcasts like him, he still acts distant, not wanting to build up any more personal connections due to his bad history with them...Circe being the only person close enough to him, and yet even that is cracking.
Found at the age 13, Rex begins to train for the next 3 years in secret from the public eye, becoming Providence’s secret weapon.
-Generator Rex Series-
Season 1
After training for 3 years, Rex ends up introducing himself to the world after a quite large EVO invades a town. Word spreads quickly through the media when learning what Providence has been hiding, and the reception is quite mixed. Some finally glad there is a somewhat cure and help, some terrified for hating the idea of having an EVO help, some thinking this will go down hill quickly, and some merely standing by to see what will happen.
Rex has, unfortunately, become a bit of a rebel, as he is tired for hiding away all the time, curious about teenage life styles and wanting to feel more human. He does, after all, want to learn about his past and who he is. This results in him wandering off after a mission at one point, and running into a boy named Noah Nixon, the two bonding over some basketball, mostly because Noah didn’t know who Rex really was. Not until Six came to pick him up. However, this does cause White to take notice of Noah, seeing how he managed to get Rex to stay still for once, and reaches out an offer to help keep Rex in line, saying Noah will receive payment and help in the war. Noah ends up agreeing.
Word reaches out to Van Kleiss eventually, and he is surprised to learn that Rex is alive. He decides quickly that it would be a good idea to get Rex to join Abysus, as not only is he an EVO like them that suffers from negative gazes and comments from the general public, but also because he would be useful due to his EVO powers, Van Kleiss knowing he has the Omega in him. But there are hints that a part of Van Kleiss may or may not still care about Rex, but he mostly denies this. Other EVOs in Abysus are also eager to have him join, wanting to welcome their new members. So The Pack, minus Circe, does eventually snatch him away and offer him a chance to join Abysus, and Rex does get tempted, especially when Van Kleiss reveals he knows who Rex once was, but turns away when learning that Van Kleiss wishes to turn everyone EVO and fleds. Van Kleiss realises he’s gonna have to start pushing it if he’s going to get Rex to join.
However, a lot of what Van Kleiss and the other EVOs said does get to Rex, who starts butting heads with Providence more, especially after learning that his friend, Noah, was a spy for them all this time. While he and Noah do make up eventually, it’ll take some time before Rex starts to trust Providence again, especially with him and White often arguing at each other. Really, it’s mostly thanks to Six and Holiday that Rex hasn’t up and ditched Providence yet.
Circe does eventually run into Rex again, flabbergasted by the fact her childhood best friend his alive, and does yell at her father for not saying anything sooner. However, he convinces her to not tell Rex anything about the past, telling her they need him on their side and they must do what they can, even if they have to be harsh about it. Still caring for her father, and not having a backbone for herself, she does agree to help with him, often trying to convince Rex to join as she does feel like the world is unfair to EVOs like him, her and the others, but Rex often pulls away from her and instead tries to convince her to leave Abysus, noting that while Van Kleiss may think he’s doing the right thing, he’s clearly pushing everyone away out of fear, including his own daughter.
Rex also develops a secret friendship with Breach, after some mishaps of her kidnapping him, then the two of them saving each other at separate times, and Rex connecting with her when seeing there is more to Breach than a broken person.
Still being a spy unknown to Providence, Ebony starts pulling her strings her own way in secret, even anonymously reaching out to Van Kleiss to be a spy for him, doing her best to play all sides.
Rex runs into his old Hong Kong friends, reconnecting with them and trying to help them deal with Quarry. There is an issue that splits him and the others when Quarry tells them Rex was the one to ditch, along with playing the voice recording. But Rex eventually comes back to help them, while also learning that Scarecrow tried setting him up, mostly because Scarecrow thought it was unfair that Rex gets to forget everything bad he’s done or gone through, and gets to ditch everyone behind to get what he wants. Eventually, Quarry is captured, while Scarecrow runs off, and Rex and his friends reconnecting once more.
Eventually, Rylander is found, still having been running from the Consortium all this time. However, he’s not quite himself, under a lot of stress after what happened, and doesn’t tell much to Rex before he’s killed by mistake during a brief scuffle with Van Kleiss. However, Rex does know that he does have family out there, even a brother.
Eventually, Van Kleiss does strike Providence directly, and manages to swipe many of Rex’s own nanites, that not only improve his powers and keep his nanites stable, no longer dying when out of Abysus, but he also gains the power to turn people EVO. However, something happens to Rex with his small amount of remaining nanites, as if he’s body is under some kind of stress. It’s revealed that the Omega is inside him, and has upgraded his powers to defend him and fill him back up with his nanites, helping him win the day. Though Providence does need to go under some repairs.
Season 2
Rex has become quite well-known by now, his public image not so great due to people’s fears towards EVOs, and people like Hunter Cain causing some uprising. So whenever Rex does hang out with Noah, he wears a ‘civilian’ outfit that Noah, Claire and Annie picked out for him.
Meanwhile, Caesar, who has still been in hiding to this day, finally catches wind that his brother is alive, along with the Omega still being with him (Caesar hadn’t really been paying much attention to the news up until now.). He runs into Providence, finds his brother, and does try to leave, though Rex convinces him to just stay at Providence. Rex is excited to finally have family back and some connection to his past but...his brother wasn’t exactly what he was expecting, as Caesar, as much as his loves his family, does seem to often put his work first without realising it, and is more keen to create something to prove he can do it, rather than how it can benefit people or the consequences of it. But, he does try to connect with his little brother, even if it’s hard for the both of them.
Rex’s EVOs powers start to develop more, in a noticeable way. Not only is he getting new builds, but his connection to nanites and tech become something more, even starting to get strange dreams from the nanites, as if they’re trying to warn him or tell him something. He is mostly use to this way of life, though it is strange for an outsider to see.
With Caesar back, Rex starts to get hints about the past, and not the good parts of it. This mostly comes from Caesar’s one off comments, but he’s mostly keeping things a secret for some reason, while Van Kleiss gives him hints and clues, even stating things for Rex that what happened in the past wasn’t happy, and that Rex’s dreams to have the family he wished for isn’t going to be what he wanted, especially since Caesar struggles with connecting and family life. It seems Caesar doesn’t want to tell Rex much, for fear of them growing more distant if Rex were to learn the truth about how distant and busy their family used to be in the past, especially between the two brothers, and exactly what went down to create the nanite event.
Tired of waiting, Rex does start to call out people like Caesar and Van Kleiss here and there more often than he did before, and even starts snooping at times to find his own answers, but he doesn’t seem to dig up much.
Eventually, things come to a head between Providence and Abysus when Rex finally convinces Breach to leave the Pack, after seeing how harsher Van Kleiss has become, the man getting frustrated that things aren’t working out (Along with secretly trying harder to push away people he starting to get attached too). After a fight, including a point where Breach snaps and her powers go highwire, Rex manages to calm her and eventually Van Kleiss gives up and lets her go, calling her a traitor, becoming more aggressive due to his lack of control, along with parts of him not wanting to let go.
Circe follows soon after, finally unable to take anymore of what her father is doing, leaving her for own sake, even if it’s hard for the both of them. Rex does his best to support her, and eventually takes her to live with the Hong Kong Gang, knowing they can help her and give her a home she deserves.
After losing two key members of his team, Van Kleiss ends up recruiting Scarecrow to join The Pack, using the man’s shapeshifting ability to help him out many times. Van Kleiss is also becoming more desperate to reach his goal, becoming more snappy towards everyone, especially to those who try to reach out. Rex does call him out on this many times, but Van Kleiss just pushes him away in the end.
Eventually, Van Kleiss decides to take proper action, heading to purgatory, where Rex normally offloads his nanites. He activates them and plans to create another nanite event, one that will turn the majority of the world in EVOs this time, given there aren’t enough nanites there to change the entire world, but he was planning to deal with the rest later. The Pack and Abysus members protect him as he begins his plans, and by the time Providence can reach him, he’s already started the meltdown that can’t be stopped. But Rex decides to try something, planning to enter Purgatory and connect with the shield system, going to make it cover the entire building to contain the explosion, and hopefully if his nanites protect him, he will then proceed to shut down every single nanite that is let loss in the shield, even if it takes him weeks, months of even years to do stop, maybe even dying in the process. Of course, everyone tries to change his mind, not wanting to lose him, but they know it might be the only way. Rex does succeed in stopping another nanite event from happening, trapping him, the nanites and Van Kleiss, as he begins to shut down each nanite.
Season 3
Six months end up going by when Rex finally finishes, shutting down the shield with no more wild active nanites that could cause any harm to be set onto the world. He is quickly greeted by Providence soldiers who had been waiting at the sight, taking him and Van Kleiss to Providence. Van Kleiss is taken somewhere else, while Rex is taken to White Knight’s room, learning how long he’s been gone. However, he learns that someone else is in charge now, Ebony Hale, who now goes by Black Knight, who happily greets Rex back to Providence. There she explains that White Knight went rogue, while people like Six and Holiday left after losing Rex, and they don’t know where they’ve gone. Caesar and seemingly Bobo are still around, and Black Knight convinces Rex to take his old job back.
While working at the new Providence, Rex starts to learn a few things, including a little more about the original nanite project. Black Knight even shows him something they found while he was away, the Alpha nanite, which had been damaged during the nanite event, sending out signals that were causing the random mutations. It is in the process of being repaired, but they need the Omega to finally stop the mutation order and fix it completely soon. Something feels off to Rex, and he assumes right when Black Knight and Caesar suddenly turn on him, saying they just want to remove the Omega from him, but Rex doesn’t trust them, knowing something is wrong. A scuffle breaks out, and when Rex is knocked out, he is unknowingly saved by Six and Holiday, learning also that the Bobo at Providence is a fake and spy for them.
Six, Holiday, Bobo and White update Rex on a few things that happened. They explained to him that the Consortium took control of Providence, claiming they failed too many times, putting Black Knight in charge. However, they learn what they’re really after is full control over the Alpha and all nanites in the world, and there are rumors of a project called ‘The Meta Nanites’ going around, though they don’t exactly know what they are. For now, Rex finds that him and his group have to be on the run and in hiding for a while now. He also learns that Providence is now mind controlling EVOs, presenting it as something good to the public, when really it’s something horrible in reality, hunting down any and all EVOs they find.
Rex starts running into old friends and people, learning how things have changed. Circe and the Hong Kong Gang are on the run from Providence. Noah has to be careful as Black Knight knows of his connection towards Rex. Abysus is now run by Biowulf, who still had faith in what Van Kleiss built for them. Members of the old nanite project are being tracked down, along with any blueprints and info that could help fix the Alpha. Breach hopping around the place, helping EVOs get to Abysus where they can be safe from Providence. All a mess really, with Rex being the centre of it all due to him having the Omega.
Tensions are high between Rex and Caesar, as Rex is convinced that Caesar is helping them because he wants too, like in the past where he didn’t really care who had the nanites as long as he got to do the project. Caesar tries to explain things, but is still distance and lying, not telling the whole truth still.
Meanwhile, Van Kleiss refuses to help Black Knight or the Consortium, but after the fight in Abysus, they catch Circe, and use her as leverage to get Van Kleiss to help.
There is a brief time where Providence catches Rex, having Caesar make the Omega talk to them through Rex, planning to remove it from him with simple voice commands. But to everyone’s surprise the Omega has evolved quite a bit since they last saw it, the piece of tech deeply connected to Rex to the point it seems to only follow his command, wishing to protect “The Catalyst”, and is unable to be controlled by any member of the original project, taking control of Rex and helping him escape (With subtle help from both Van Kleiss and Rylander).
The Consortium starts getting more involved personally, much to Black Knight's annoyance, but she still puts on a front to keep playing them and everyone else.
Eventually it is discovered that The Meta Nanite project is really just creating five different Omegas, so that each Consortium member can have one to control the Alpha and all nanites in the world. This is the main reason they keep trying to take the Omega from Rex, in hopes to clone it.
After a partially bad battle, the Consortium and Black Knight eventually confront Rex, pushing him too far physically and emotionally which results in Rex accidently turning them EVO. The Consortium turned into a hybrid monster and Black Knight turning into an EVO that can turn solid and into a liquid form. Narrowly, Rex manages to escape, while Black Knight gets the Consortium under control, ‘promising’ them that they can be cured eventually.
Things reach to a head when the final battle takes place, everyone aiming to get to the Alpha and taking the Omega first. Unfortunately, Black Knight and Consortium’s new forms provide an issue, especially when they also used mind control EVOs. However, Caesar ends up mildly sabotaging them, managing to free half of the EVOs before he is caught by Black Knight. He reveals he’s been playing them, as there was no way he was actually planning on helping the people who killed his family. Black Knight too reveals that she doesn’t want to help them either, instead was helping herself the entire time, and takes control of the operation and throws Caesar away.
Because half of the EVOs were freed, Van Kleiss joins the battle with any members of Abysus around, still wanting to create the EVO paradise they all wish for. This results in the fight being four ways, Abysus’s side, Providence’s side, the Consortium Side, and Black Knight’s side. Rex is caught in the middle of it, but after much growth with his nanites, he allows himself to go full EVO, even at risk of losing all his memories. The fight reaches the point where Rex, Black Knight, Van Kleiss, White Knight and the Consortium reaching the Alpha, all of them realising that Rex has full control of the situation and it’s his choice to make, each leader prompting him to follow their goals. After a long debate, Rex reaches for the Alpha and fixes it, now able to take full command over all nanites in the world. But instead of curing everything, turning everything, or mind controlling everyone, he merely stops the process of any new mutations from happening, though does cure people like Black Knight and the Consortium so they don’t become a problem again. Rex knows that he can’t make a sudden massive decision that will do something bad to the world, even curing it would create unwanted side effects. Instead, he wants to take the time to use the Alpha to cure/fix what needs to be fixed, but in a safe and slow manner. After all, what the nanites did to the world is not going to be an easy fix, and sadly some things are going to stay.
Black Knight and the Consortium are arrested, while Van Kleiss and members of Abysus flee back home, needing to make plans but...maybe willing to listen if Providence wants to make a deal. The Alpha is handed to Providence, with White Knight taking back charge, and begin making plans on how to set the world back to normal, or as normal as it can be, Rex still being the one to hold the Omega and able to control the Alpha.
While not perfect, Caesar and Rex begin to try and patch things up, deciding it might be time to actually start being a family, though with people like Six, Holiday and Bobo also involved (And Six and Holiday would totally be dating at this point).
Rex also reaches out to Van Kleiss, with the help of Circe who wants to reconnect with her dad, and while things aren’t good between any of them, there are hints it could be better in the future.

You tapped your foot anxiously, looking to the ground. They couldn't legally keep you here for over 72 hours. You looked up at the clock, looking at how long it's been. Only two hours.
You groaned, laying on the metal bench, uncomfortable.
“Miss, there are some agents here to see you,” you heard the deputy say, walking into your cell.
“Yeah, no thanks,” you crossed your arms, sitting up.
“Yeah, well, you kinda have no choice, come with me,” he said, moving aside.
“Or what?” you replied.
“Listen, freak, no one has time for you to act like a brat. Get your ass up and come with me,” he said more fiercely.
You scoffed, and rolled your eyes, trying to hide your hurt, as you got up and followed him.
He walked you to an interrogation room, where two men in suites were. They were something, but definitely not FBI agents.
You cautiously sat in the chair across from them.
“Hey there, I’m Agent Ryland, and this is my partner, Agent Perry,” the taller man introduced himself.
You squinted, looking at them.
“Can I see your badges?” you asked.
“Yeah, sure,” you saw him take his and his partner’s badges, handing them to you, then gave his partner a look.
You looked down at the badges, smirking to yourself. They were definitely fake.
“Here,” you handed them back.
“Okay, so, tell us what happened,” the other man sat on the table.
“Didn’t you already talk to the sheriff? Or any of the deputies?” you asked.
“Well, yeah, but we’re trying to get the whole story,” the taller man replied.
“Fine. I was on a run, I couldn't focus on my studying and I needed to get away from people. Then, I heard a man screaming. So, like any sane person, I ran to him, and he was dead. Then, the police showed up about 10 seconds after, saw me there, and arrested me. The end,” you explained, kicking your feet up.
“Okay, was there anything weird about the body?” the taller man asked.
“Uhm, besides the stab wound?” you raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, anything at all?” he asked.
You thought for a moment, thinking back to the body.
“I think I saw a wound on his neck, sort of like a bite or something,” you remembered.
“A-A bite?” the other man asked.
“Well, I don't know, it looked like a bite to me,” you shrugged.
“Thank you for your time,” the taller man smiled.
“Well, it's not like I had a choice,” you rolled your eyes.
“....Right,” he replied.
“Okay, freak. Done in here?” the deputy asked, walking into the room.
You saw the two agents give the deputy a look.
You ignored their reaction and nodded.
He grabbed your arm, taking you back to your cell.
----
“Maybe it was the kid,” Dean shrugged, looking at Sam.
“No, I don't think so. Maybe it was a vampire,” Sam suggested.
“What type of vampire stabs their victims? Maybe there wasn’t a bite, maybe she made the whole thing up,” Dean sighed.
“No, you saw her, Dean. There’s no way she could pull off a murder,” Sam crossed his arms.
“Fine. How about we go look at the body?” Dean asked.
“Yeah. Leave in 5?” he asked.
“Let’s go.”
----
After whatever happened, the sheriff had some “clarity”, and finally realized it wasn't you. You were released from the jail, but there was no way that someone wasn’t gonna bother you about it at school.
You groaned to yourself, as you put your backpack on, getting ready to go to school.
----
“Hey, freak. My dad told me that you spent the weekend in jail. You killed someone else?” a boy walked past you.
You ignored him, looking up, as you saw people staring and whispering at you.
You took a deep breath, walking to your locker. As you opened it, a bunch of papers fell out of your locker, all saying the same thing.
Freak, Murderer
Go kill yourself next time.
You held in your emotions, as you picked them up, throwing them all away.
You closed your eyes for a second, walking to your first class.
----
“Hey, freak, did you really kill someone?” you heard someone say from behind you.
You kept your head down, as you continued paying attention to your class.
“Miss (Y/L/N), stop talking,” your teacher called.
“I didn't say anything!” you exclaimed.
“Young lady, are you talking back to me?” your teacher asked, as the whole class turned to you.
“No, I didn’t say anything before,” you argued.
“Ma’am, I would just leave her alone, if I were you. Maybe Freak will murder you next,” you heard a girl say.
“That’s enough. Detention, Miss (Y/L/N),” your teacher called.
You took a deep breath, as you shut your eyes, wondering when things would change.
----
“It was a vampire. The stab wound didn't kill him, that was just a cover,” Sam ran into the hotel.
“Oh great, because we love vampires oh so much,” Dean said sarcastically.
“Yeah, now we just need to find where they are,” Sam sighed.
“Let’s go talk to the kid again,” Dean said.
“Why?” Sam asked.
“She was hiding something. Maybe she knows more than she was telling us,” Dean replied.
“Yeah, okay. Let's go find her,” Sam agreed.
----
You heard a knock on your door, cautiously walking to answer it. No one really visited you.
“Who’s there?” you asked before opening the door.
“Hey, it’s Agents Ryland and Perry,” they replied.
Oh great, the fake FBI agents.
“Look, I didn't kill that man,” you owned the door, sighing.
“I know, we believe you. Are your parents home?” Agent Perry asked.
“My parents are dead,” you replied.
“O-Oh, I’m sorry for your loss,” he replied.
“Look, I don't really want to know why you guys are here. You said you believed it wasn't me, so why are you here?” he asked.
“Just a few more questions,” he said.
“Hey, I've had a long day, and I don’t really have time for this,” you sighed.
“We’ll be quick,” they both walked into your house.
“No, no more questions,” you said.
“Look, kid,” he started.
“No, look, dude,” you mocked.
“I don’t want to answer any more questions, I have that right. Leave me alone, now, before I call the cops on you,” you crossed your arms.
“You’re gonna call the cops on the FBI?” Agent Perry raised an eyebrow.
“I’m not as dumb as all the law enforcement in this town, I know a fake badge when I see one. Now leave,” you said.
“Listen, kid, there's more at stake here than you realize. We’re trying to help your town,” Dean started.
“Let them all die then, for all I care,” you replied.
“Look,” Sam tried to speak.
You grabbed your phone.
“Three, two, one,” you counted down.
“Fine, we’re leaving,” Dean said.
He pulled Sam’s arm, as the two of them walked out.
“She’s definitely hiding something,”
----
“Hey, freak,” you heard a voice say as you opened your eyes slowly.
You groaned, looking around you.
Your head was killing you, and your arms were tied up above your head.
“Who are you?” you said.
“Well, I’m a vampire,” he said.
“Vampires aren't real,” you replied, tugging on your chains.
“Maybe this will prove it to you,” he hissed, showing you his fangs, as he bit in your arm.
You let out a scream.
“Mmm, your blood. It's different. You’re something special aren’t you,” he said, walking around you.
“Please, let me go,” you said, getting scared.
“Aww, is the little freak scared?” he teased.
“I-I’m not a freak,” you said, as your eyes started watering.
“Well, everyone sees you as a freak. You’re different from everyone else, and you know it,” he said.
“I’m not a freak,” you repeated.
“Yes, you are! You’ve seen so many people die, you've killed so many people!” he yelled.
You held in your cries, as tears fell from your face.
“I-I never killed anybody. That’s just a lie,” you said shakily.
“I’ve watched you for a while now, kid. I know everything about you. You killed your parents,” he laughed.
“I didn't kill them!” you yelled.
He slapped you, as you gasped.
“You’re sick,” you spat.
“No, I’m just hungry!” he yelled, biting in your neck as you let out a cry.
“Hey, eat me, you son of a bitch!” you heard someone yell, as he turned away from you.
You let out a shaky breath, as your vision blurred.
“Oh, great. Winchesters,” he sighed.
Dean walked near you, holding a machete in his hand.
“One more step and she’s gone,” he held a knife to you.
You tried your hardest to hold in your cries as a whimper left your lips.
A few seconds after, you heard a slicing noise, as the knife fell to the ground, along with his body.
You let out a cry, as Sam undid your chains, as you fell to the ground, while Sam held you.
“It's okay. Shhh, it's okay,” he comforted you.
“It’s okay.”
----
“Dean’s getting rid of his body. How are you holding up?” Sam asked, sitting next to you.
“Uhm, okay,” you said softly.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” he asked.
You shook your head, looking forward silently.
“Does it hurt?” he asked.
“I’m fine,” you said.
“It’s okay to talk about it. I know it’s a lot to get through,” Sam gave you a look.
You jumped slightly, as you heard your phone ring.
You took your phone out of your pocket, reading your messages.
You’re a freak and a murderer. You should be in that jail cell
I can’t believe they let you out of jail you freak
You felt your eyes water as you turned off your phone, putting it back in your pocket.
“You know, whatever those people say about you isn’t true,” Sam started.
“Maybe,” you replied.
“It's not. Look, I don’t know what the problem with that deputy was,” you stopped him.
“It’s not his fault. Everyone calls me a killer,” you sighed.
“Why?” he asked, turning to you.
“When I was a baby, maybe 6 months old,” you started, as Sam tensed up.
“My mom died in a fire, in my nursery. When I was 13, my dad was murdered. People talk,” you said shakily.
“W-What?” he asked, shocked.
“And then, there was this one time…. I don’t…. something happened, I had a dream that someone died, and I told someone. Then, he died, and they all blamed me,” you closed your eyes.
“Kid, y-you’re not a freak, you’re just psychic,” Sam said.
“What?” you raised an eyebrow, turning to him.
“I am too. Or at least, I was. You’re not the only one with powers like that,” Sam explained, he stood up and started pacing around.
“Why me?” you asked.
“Well, it’s kinda a long story…… how often have you had those dreams?” he asked.
“Since my dad died,” you answered.
“I thought all of us were, well, either dead or still dormant,” Sam said.
“Sam,” you jumped as you heard a gruff voice, seeing a man appear in front of you.
“I-Is this a good thing?” you asked nervously.
“Yeah. It’s a really, really good thing. What's your name, kid?” he asked.
“(Y/N),” you replied.
“(Y/N), you're not a freak. You’re a psychic. And, if you let me help you, you can be a hero,” Sam smiled.
“How?” you asked.
“I’ll help you. Me and Dean both,” Sam put his hand on your shoulder.
“Why do you want to help me?” your eyes watered.
“Because I know how you feel. When I was your age, people called me names, people called me a freak. Things were crap. I don’t want that for you. I want to help you,” Sam said.
You wrapped your arms around Sam, giving him a tight hug, as he hugged you back.
“Everyone makes me feel like I’m a monster,” you said shakily.
“You're not. You’re normal. You’re not a monster,” he stroked your head.
You nodded your head as your tears fell freely. Because, for the first time in a long time, you felt okay. You felt safe. You didn’t feel like a freak.

THE WHITE SUN AT MIDNIGHT | J.BLACK  Ch. 23
Paige woke up that night through an ear-piercing scream. The door barged open to reveal Jake and Charlie, both with messy hair and worried faces. When Charlie finally returned from Harry’s that night, Jake insisted that he stay there, and Charlie compromised by making him sleep on the couch. The two males walked over to the shaking girl and slowly sat down beside her.
“Want to tell us about it?” Jacob asked, and Charlie rubbed his daughter’s back. Charlie wasn’t much of a talker; everyone knew that, so he just stayed quiet. Paige sniffed and brought her knees to her chest.
“Just reliving something,” the girl answered vaguely, and Jake glanced at his imprint’s father. Charlie lifted his shoulders with a puzzled look.
“What was it?” Jacob continued, and Paige looked over to Charlie and then to Jake.
“Something that happened back home,” the werewolf whispered. The two knew Paige didn’t want to talk anymore, so they nodded and got up. They were about to walk out when Jacob stopped Charlie.
“Hey,” - Charlie looked back at the shifter - “can I . . . .”
Charlie sighed. “Fine, but no . . . . ya know,” he muttered awkwardly.
“Yeah, yeah, of course not. Thanks, Charlie,” Charlie patted Jake’s shoulder before giving him a warning look and closing the door, making sure to leave it open slightly.
Jake huffed and walked towards his imprint, who had her head down, tears spilling down into her lap. He pulled her into his chest as he sat behind her. That’s when she burst into tears. Paige wanted to remain strong, but how could she? Her father was dead.
“Can you please tell me? I hate seeing you like this,” the Black purred into her ear.
Paige gulped a lump in her throat and mumbled, “it was about my father.” Jake tensed. He never dared asked about what happened to bring her to Forks; Bella lied by saying Paige wanted to see her. Jake knew that wasn’t true because why would Paige care about her step-sister she’s never met?
But Jacob had to say something. Ask her something. “Why did you come to Forks, Paige?” he inquired after much silence. This time Paige froze, which caused a rush of panic to run through Jake.
“I- . . . . I can’t tell you. I’m sorry,” she whimpered.
“Does it have something to do with your father?” with his words, Jacob pulled Paige slightly closer, afraid that his question would hurt her.
“Kind of . . . . kind of not,” the Claymore replied. “Before my father died, I made an arrangement with the Beta of our tribe’s pack. And after my father died and the Beta became Alpha, and he ordered me to fulfill the order,” she finished, and Jake frowned; she sounded so sad and so betrayed.
“But you weren’t even phased yet,” Jake stated.
“I know, but I thought my decision would make my father happy. Plus, I had nothing back home. Besides my tribe but I didn’t see the point anymore. Once my father died, the Beta became chief too since I was too young, and a lot of my friends left Montana soon after. The Millers being some of them. But most of them already lived here in Forks,” the blonde explained. “Only Mr. Miller stayed to be with the tribe, and Maria being Maria stayed with him.”
“Wait, Ryland had another sister?” Jake cut in, and Paige nodded.
“The night my father died, she was kidnapped and later found in the woods . . . . dead,” Paige choked out, and Jacob raised his eyebrows, turning her around, so she was facing him.
“Do you know how the two died?” Jake’s interest in his imprint’s backstory was quickly growing inside him.
“When they found Maria, they saw bite marks on her neck. She was completely drained of blood,” Paige answered.
“So a vampire killed her?” Paige nodded.
“And my father . . . .” the shifter licked her lips and stuttered.
“Hey, you don’t have to tell me,” Jake said and placed a comforting hand on her knee.
“No, no, it’s fine,” she rushed out. “That night, I heard struggling coming from his bedroom and went inside to see what was wrong. And all I could see was ginger hair and white skin. And then,” - Paige snapped her fingers - “his neck was snapped.”
Jake gulped; he couldn’t imagine losing his dad like that. And having seen it too. “I’m sorry-”
Paige scoffed. “I got enough of those. I don’t need more pity,” she snapped.
“But only a day after he died, the Beta became Alpha and chief. He gave out orders to everyone, some not even shifters. His current wife tried to stand up to his foul actions, and she ended up dead in seconds. Rumors went around that the Beta was behind my father’s death, and people asked him about it,” Paige couldn’t hold back her next grimace. “And he confessed to it. He told everyone that he made a deal with a vampire that if she killed my father that he would give her a meal.”
“Maria,” Jake whispered, trying to put every piece of the puzzle together. “Do you know who the vampire was?”
“My father allied with the Cullens. He often contacted Carlisle to keep in touch because they were good friends. The Beta learned of this and told the vampire that there was a reason she would get pleasure out of killing him. She wanted revenge on the Cullens more than anyone,” Paige clarified, and Jacob’s eyes widened.
“Victoria killed your father?” He exhaled, Paige frowned.
“The Beta then ordered me here, giving me excuses like Bella and her depression and the Millers. He sent me here so I could phase. That’s the only reason I’m here,” the girl added.
“But you’re phased already . . . .”
“That means that he’ll get impatient soon and come get me,” Paige finished for him. The werewolf’s heart shattered. He couldn’t lose her. He just couldn’t. He wouldn’t.
“Then why are you still here if he wanted you back right away? I mean, based on how you described this guy, he doesn’t seem like the kind of person who would just let this go!-” Jacob panicked, and Paige shushed him gently. She placed her hands on the sides of his face and smiled softly.
“I stayed because of you, Jake. You, and Bella, and Charlie, and the Millers, even the Uley pack. You guys are my new family,” Jacob’s lips perked up slightly, and he brought their foreheads together.
“I’m not going to let him take you,” the Black claimed.
“I know. But you have to be ready for when he comes. Because Kambie’s coming, and he doesn’t leave without a fight.”

Amy came down the stairs on a fine morning, only to sigh when she saw Avalon sitting with her legs up on the couch, a blanket draped over her while she slept all awkwardly and shifty. As Amy moved towards the couch, Rory walked in from the kitchen, having already awoken and was even having a drink of tea.
"Did you do this?" Amy looked at her husband in assumption.
"Yeah," Rory nodded, "I came down last night for water and...she'd fallen asleep this time. I didn't want to risk waking her up by moving her so I just...put a blanket and..." he sighed.
Amy looked down at Avalon and gently pulled the blanket more up, "At least she fell asleep this time," she tried to cautiously move Avalon's head to the couch arm to give her more comfort.
"Yeah, 'at least'," Rory shook his head and turned back for the kitchen.
Amy gave a small sigh as she tried to make her granddaughter as comfortable as possible without disturbing her much needed sleep. But Amy knew that no amount of sleep (however much needed) would make Avalon feel better. It had been a few weeks since the Doctor left them on Earth and it seemed like it would be a long, long time until he decided (if he ever would) to come back.

Lena watched her sister make hasty strides in her bedroom, gathering things she would need to take to Amy's and Rory's. Lena couldn't believe the Doctor had left them all back on Earth but after hearing Amy's explanation, she understood why. It made sense. At least her father said it out loud.
Ryland applauded the Doctor for making the sacrifice, something that infuriated Avalon. She swore she wouldn't talk to him in her life if he ever said that again. Nothing justified the Doctor leaving them so he could go die. Lena argued for both sides and since Avalon would never yell at her, she got away with it.
"How long are you going to stay with Amy and Rory now?" Lena crossed the room to help Avalon close the suitcase on the bed.
"Until that idiot Fairy Tale Man comes back. I can't have him sneaking a visit to them and not have me there," Avalon muttered and turned back. "He doesn't want me to find him, ha. It's like he didn't even know me. What I want, I get. And I refuse to let him die."
"But Avalon, what are you going to do?" Lena was genuinely afraid of what Avalon would come up with to get the Doctor back, or to at least catch his attention.
"I don't know but I've made some calls, I'm going to get leads," Avalon stopped by her writing desk, practically swiping a hand over it to dump her writing tools into a small duffel bag.
"From where?" Lena asked.
Avalon didn't answer with words. She just smiled and sealed her duffel bag. "You can come with me if you'd like."
"What, to Amy's and Rory's?"
"No. To meet him."
Lena raised an eyebrow at Avalon. She was scared. Avalon on her own was already chaotic but now that the Doctor had thoroughly pissed her off, Avalon was a force to be reckoned with and there was no stopping her. God help him when he came back.
~ 0 ~
"Who are we meeting?" Lena asked Avalon when they entered her favorite coffee shop.
"A friend," Avalon found an empty table by the glass wall. "Sit." She patted the empty chair beside her and decided to order something while they waited.
"Avalon, I know you're upset-"
Avalon made a noise. "Oh, I am not upset. There is no word to describe what I'm feeling right now."
"My big brother just wanted to protect you…"
"I know that. I understand him, I love him for that...but he should not have to die, alright? I know that if he doesn't figure out a way to stop the Silence he's going to sacrifice himself. I won't be the reason he dies, and I most certainly will not let Kovarian win like that."
"I'm sorry Avalon but what are we supposed to do against the Silence? Truth be told, the Doctor is the only one who can defeat them."
"I want to keep him from doing something stupid," Avalon put her bag on the table. She was deeply terrified of what the Doctor could do on his own when he felt like there were no more options. She wasn't angry that he left her, she was angry that he thought it was the best option. She was so tired of having everyone trying to protect her. If something bad was going to happen to her, it would happen regardless of who was around her. Right now, she just wanted to get back to the Doctor and help him search through all the options he had. She wanted to fight at his side. The Silence had hurt her and her friends and she wanted to hunt them down for it.
"Hello ladies," Lena heard a familiar voice, a flirty voice. She knew who it was even before she looked up.
Captain Jack Harkness stopped in front of the table with his signature smile. Avalon rose up from her chair and hugged him. "Hi Jack."
"Oh my big brother would be having a heart attack right now," Lena mumbled her breath while she watched them hug.
"It is really good to know that you're back," Jack patted Avalon's arms and sighed. "You have no idea how bad the Doctor was when he called me."
"Of course he would find me," Avalon shrugged. "And now I need you to help me find him."
"What?"
Avalon motioned him to grab a seat as she sat back down herself.
"What's happened?" Jack asked, eyes flickering to Lena who seemed more nervous than ever.
"I'm assuming you know all about the Silence now, right?" Avalon asked.
"Yeah, sort of came up when the Doctor called me."
"There's a date that's coming up. April 24, 2011. According to some all mighty future news, that's the day the Doctor dies."
"Come again?" Jack made a face. "He doesn't die."
"He will, because we've seen it happen before," Avalon glanced at Lena. The latter sighed and nodded to confirm the story. "On that day, a future version of the Doctor will invite earlier versions of ourselves to meet him in Utah. We'll have a picnic by Lake Silencio and then a mysterious astronaut will rise from the lake...and she'll shoot him."
"She?" Jack caught on.
"She doesn't know," Lena said before Avalon could open her mouth. As soon as she did, Avalon threw a glare at Lena.
"I do know," Avalon reiterated despite the numerous arguments she had with Lena, Amy, Rory and even Ryland.
"What?" Jack felt like a broken record but until he got more information, that's all he had.
Avalon sighed and looked at him. "I've been going round and round in my head about who that astronaut is and every time I end up thinking it's me. I don't know what version of me it is but I think it's me."
"Avalon, I hardly thinking-"
Avalon knew he was about to side with Lena and, thus, everyone else, so she cut him off. "Jack you have to listen to me. Everyone else thinks I'm crazy but you...you know a thing or two about memory wipes and timelines…"
Lena cleared her throat and mouthed a quick 'She still doesn't know' to Jack before he decided to let it slip who her mother was.
"Kovarian wiped some of my memories when she had me kidnapped. I've thought long and hard about this and I think I finally realized why she would do that. What if…" Avalon paused. It still made her stomach churn thinking about the possibility. She leaned forwards on the table, lowering her voice so that only Jack and Lena would hear her. "What if Kovarian made me do something so terrible that the only way she could send me back without ratting her out was to wipe my memories first?" Jack opened his mouth to respond but Avalon quickly shushed him and begged him to really think about it. "She didn't have to wipe my memories but she did. Why?"
It was the age old question that no one could answer. Even the Doctor had been left blank when they talked about it.
"I...I admit that there is a truth behind those words…" Jack began, "But don't you think you would've been sentenced to jail?"
"Not unless she covered her tracks. How do I confess to a crime I don't remember doing? How do I rat my allies out if I don't remember anything? Who's to say that she didn't kill any loose ends before wiping my memory clean?" Avalon thought she was making some very good points...and Jack might believe that she had.
"Avalon, even if this was true...what about it? What do you plan on doing?"
"Well, first I want to exhaust all my options before I go with the obvious. I want to find the Doctor and I want to help him fight the Silence. I want to know why they took me, why they targeted him. And above all, I don't want the Doctor to be alone." Avalon's gaze lowered to the table. "Because when he's alone, he starts to let all the guilt come through and there's no one to remind him that he's not at fault for what happened to me, to River, to Amy...and if he lets that happen, he'll do something stupid." When Avalon raised her eyes to Jack, they were glimmering with tears. "I can't let that happen. He's helped all of us so many times. It's our turn to help him."
Jack could get on board with that. He smiled at her. She sounded just like anyone who'd had the fortune of travelling with the Doctor. Of course, seeing her determined face told him it was far beyond what the Doctor's other friends felt for him. "You love him, don't you?"
Avalon sighed. "Yes, but please don't downplay everything I said before. I'm not doing it because I love him, I'm doing it because he deserves someone to fight for him."
"I agree with that," Jack straightened up in his chair, giving her a mock salute. Avalon smiled. "What do you need from me, ma'am?"
Avalon beamed. She glanced at Lena with newfound excitement. Lena could only inwardly sigh. This could either end really well or really bad.
"Alright, I know that Torchwood's closed down but you have ways of getting to the 51st century, right?"
"Yeah, vortex manipulator. Don't tell the Doctor I got it working again. He'd take it from me."
Avalon thought for a moment before saying, "Hm, maybe I should just stick you to the bottom of a fish hook with the manipulator and just wait for the Doctor to come."
Jack laughed at her. "You wouldn't!"
"Try me!" Avalon smirked.
"Oh Avalon, it's good to see you again," Jack said as he sobered from his laugh.
"Yeah," Avalon said quietly, her smile falling short but still a smile nonetheless. It was good to see an old face, even if said face had been on the receiving end of many, many screams. She'd make that up to him later on.

Several days passed by and in those days Avalon had heavy contact with Jack about possibly sightings of the Doctor. She even wanted to start looking into Kovarian's sightings...and that's where the Ponds had to draw the line. How they would deal with it had to be an extra type of smart because otherwise Avalon wouldn't listen to them. So they went about in a whole different way.
"River?" Avalon was puzzled with her appearance but then she realized she must have come visit her parents. It was only natural. Avalon let River into the Ponds' home and took a quick peek outside into the street...just in case. "Amy and Rory are at work."
"Ah, Amy found a job?" River asked, though Avalon presumed it was just a formality seeing as this was an older version coming to visit.
"Yeah," Avalon shut the door behind them. "Something about perfumes. Got lucky."
"Hm," River came straight into the living room like she knew there was something there. Avalon's work had been spread around the coffee table and the couch itself was buried under more of it. "Seems to me like you've been pretty busy yourself."
Avalon followed her and folded her arms, susiciously eyeing River. "Where are you from?"
With a smile, River turned to her. "Couple months after I visited you all at Demon's Run."
"So then you know exactly where I am," Avalon said quietly, watching River's smile fade. "And you know what I'm trying to do."
"Yes, I do."
"You didn't come to visit your parents, did you?"
"No, I did not." River picked up a random paper off the couch and gave it a quick skim. "Avalon, you are a wonderful writer but all this needs to stop. You can't go looking for the Doctor and much less Kovarian herself."
"I would think that you of all people would understand why I'm doing this," Avalon came forward and snatched the paper out of River's hand. "He's out there, River, on his own. He knows that he's supposed to die and I just know that he will try to sacrifice himself for us."
"I know very well how the story ends, Avalon, and for that reason I beg you to stop. You don't know how deep this goes-"
"Excuse you, I was kidnapped by Kovarian. I think I know just how deep it goes!"
"You spent a few months with her, I spent my entire life with her!" River snapped, quieting Avalon for the next few minutes. "I know exactly what Kovarian planned and how she did it, because where I stand she's already done it. Trust me when I say that you cannot change these events. They must happen."
"Why!?"
"Because they need to, because if they don't, very important people cease to exist," River swallowed hard as she thought back to those moments. They weren't always good but just looking at her daughter made it all worth it. Avalon had no idea what her future was like and it all depended on the Silence's interference. It was a twisted story but it was sadly the reality.
"What?" frowned Avalon, understanding even less of what was going on. "The hell are you talking about?"
"Spoilers my dear," River sighed. "But please listen to me. I know how hurt you are but I promise you that I know what I'm talking about. If you interfere in any way, you will jeopardize the timelines."
"River, with all due respect, I don't give a damn," Avalon declared and turned away, striding out of the living room.
River shook her head at her. "Oh, you are definitely my daughter," she mumbled. "Avalon!" She called after the woman and stormed after her. "You need to listen to me!"
"I really don't," Avalon was in the kitchen trying to find something to snack on from the fridge. "I don't listen to anyone."
"I admire your bravery - or stupidity - but this is not what the Doctor wanted when he left you here."
"Well, I wouldn't know, would I?" Avalon slammed shut the fridge door, ignoring the quiet thud it gave, and turned to River. "Because he hasn't even tried talking to me in these last months! I've had to make do with what I have here and it's not exactly a picnic! I don't know if he's okay, if he's hurt, if he's...moved on." Avalon let a shuddering breath out.
"Moved on?" River repeated, now looking at her daughter like she was the crazy one. "You think he could do that? Oh sweetie, you have no idea. This is what I mean when I say we can't interfere with the timelines. There are important things that happen - people, Avalon - that will be there because we let things happen the way they're supposed to. I swear to you that the Doctor could never get over you."
Avalon seemed to lose the fighting mode she had on - she'd been needing it against everyone lately - and moved over to the table. "Kovarian said some things when she, um, when she had me watching the Doctor's history. She mentioned that one day the Doctor would leave us - Amy, Rory...me - and that we would just be another bunch in his long list of companions."
River silently grabbed a char next to her. "That's not true."
Avalon used to believe that before the Doctor dropped her off like nothing. "How would we know? We're not with him, are we?"
"I just do. I'm from the future, right?"
"Kovarian said there was a girl after us," Avalon went on, clearly discarding River's last words, "She's the one who brings the Doctor to wherever it is that terrifies the whole Silence. The Doctor moves on from us, forgets us…"
"That's not true," River shook her head. "You know it's not."
"I don't know anything, River," Avalon sighed heavily as she placed her elbows on the table and rested her chin on her hands. "Not anymore. I don't know where my Fairy Tale Man is, I don't know what he's doing. For all I know, he's figured out a way to stop everything and he's just...moved on. The story with Avalon Reynolds finished for him."
"Now stop that!" River actually scolded, letting her mother side slip out. "You know that's not true. Kovarian wanted to mess with your head and I'll be damned if that happens. You have to listen to me, Avalon. The Doctor is just trying to keep you safe from the Silence and it would break his hearts if you got yourself hurt trying to look for him."
Avalon met her look with a pretty serious one. Everyone seemed to think she was doing this blind, like she had no logical reasons for it. Yes, she was afraid that perhaps the Doctor really was done with her, but she really did want to help. It was just the longer it took to find him, the more crazy ideas her mind started coming up with. But in the end, there was one sad reality that she carried with her every day. "He's already hurt me, he broke my heart leaving me here." What was worse is that he had still kept his promise to her. He would be with her until the day he died. She would be there, just not her current self.
River had nothing to say to that and even as Avalon got up to leave, she couldn't think of anything comforting to say.
~ 0 ~
More months passed by and despite Avalon's heavy insistence for River to stay away if she was going to be against her work, River kept stopping by. Amy and Rory were thankful for her visits because they had thoroughly given up trying to stop Avalon's search. She was going to get herself into trouble that they wouldn't be able to pull her out of. She'd already given them scary moments as it was.
They'd been particularly terrified when Avalon disappeared for days. They thought maybe the Silence had found her instead but then she reappeared with River who had brought her back nearly by the ear. Amy and Rory had never seen River act like such a mother at that moment. She had found Avalon lurking through a planet known to have a church filled with Silence. River knew exactly what that church was and while it was one of the benign sects of the Silence she didn't trust that there wasn't one traitorous Silent amongst them. In another moment, she would commend Avalon for even finding out about that place but for the current moment, she was furious that Avalon had gone in there on her own.
"I HATE YOU!" Avalon stalked up the staircase when River let her go. Amy and Rory had long ago set up a room just for her and now she would be using it to lock herself away.
"I'm taking this," River waved a familiar vortex manipulator in her hand. "Avalon knicked it off Jack. He was proud that she'd been able to sneak it off him but I'm not sharing the sentiment."
"She's definitely acting like versions of you," Rory mumbled.
Amy agreed with a nod. "What are we going to do with her? I don't think the Doctor planned on her being this...this determined."
"No, no, he planned for it," River hated to admit it. "He knows exactly who Avalon is and that's why he's been extra careful not to make outstanding appearances."
"Have you talked to him?" Rory eyed River suspiciously. He wouldn't put it behind the two to have secret meetings about all this timeline and Silence stuff.
River looked at her father for a long minute before completely glossing over the answer. "He's keeping an eye on her but...we all have to pitch in."
"Thing is, Avalon's not a child. She's got feelings and she's pretty damn smart," Amy folded her arms and glanced at the staircase. "She's able to trick us with minimal effort."
"We just have to keep trying," River said, shrugging her shoulders. "I've done a lot to keep my daughter safe, this is just another of those moments."
From that point on, everyone agreed to keep a heavier eye on Avalon. As annoying and frustrating as it was, Avalon wouldn't try to hurt them. She knew they were trying to help but she would keep doing her search no matter what.
~ 0 ~
It would be one day that somewhat calmed Avalon for a moment. It was no ordinary day and that's why it managed to ease her.
She sat on the couch with a tattered blanket over her legs - an old childhood blanket - and gazed at a beautiful rose gold rose with bright green leaves in her hand. It shined as if it were metal but each time she touched one of its petals, a soft pink dust sprinkled from it...like fairydust. As hurt as she felt, she couldn't help but smile each time the dust would fill the air.
"Happy birthday Avalon," she heard from behind. Avalon shifted a bit to see River coming in with a tempting gift in her hands. "Big 24!" She leaned down and kissed the top of Avalon's head.
"Has it really been 2 years since America?" Avalon shook her head. That really seemed like a long time ago.
River scooted Avalon's legs so she could sit on the couch. "Oh, do you remember the last time we celebrate your birthday? What was it? You're 21st? Oh, what fun that was!"
"Yeah, I got so drunk that, that night is very blurry," Avalon sighed but with a content smile. It had been a fun night.
"Still, I know there's a small get together Amy's fixing up in the backyard for you!"
"I'm not really up for the celebration but I'll just let it happen for them. They've been so nice letting me stay over even when my house is just a couple blocks down."
River smiled lightly. "That's a good girl. Here, open my present!" She handed the gift to Avalon and motioned her to unwrap it.
Avalon set her rose on her lap then pulled the wrapping paper off the gift. Her eyes widened when she found a porcelain doll. It had bright orange hair like she had, curly too, and dark eyes. It had a green period dress and a small tiara over its head. "Oh my God…"
"Do you like it?" River had to control herself so she didn't look so eager for her reaction.
Avalon looked up with twinkling eyes. "You remembered!"
"That you always wanted one of those dolls but never got them because Lena was scared of them," River laughed. "I figured Lena's old enough to understand not to go into your room."
Avalon had to laugh at that. "Right." She fixed some of the orange strands of the doll's hair and smiled. "Thank you, River. I love it."
"Happy birthday, sweetie," River leaned over to hug her tightly. "I know it's been a rough year but you are so strong. You'll make it through this."
Avalon would love to believe that but the truth was this year was kicking her ass. She set her new porcelain doll to the side and picked up her rose-gold rose again. "I got this in the morning."
River raised an eyebrow at it. "Oh, that's fancy." Avalon brushed her fingers over the petals and allowed for River to see the sprinkles of 'fairydust' fly from it. "Ah," River's eyes widened. "That's from Aurals." Avalon gave her a puzzled look, obviously not in the loop about the place she spoke of. "It's a planet. You'd love it. They're the only planet to grow those types of flowers. They look like they're fake but they're actually very real. Where'd you get that from?"
Avalon said nothing as she reached for a white card on the coffee table. She opened it up and reread the letter she'd practically clung to earlier in the morning. 'Happy birthday my Ava. I'm afraid that by now you either hate me or, well, you're hunting me down to kill me.'
River snorted, nearly laughing. "That man…"
'I know that you're very upset with me but please understand that I did not 'leave' you, I had to give you up. I was trying to save you one last time by letting you live in peace while I search for those bad people who hurt you. But today is your day, Ava. Twenty four years ago, a little princess was born and she took life by storm. I love you Avalon, please remember that. Never doubt that. Happy birthday my love."
Avalon looked up with teary eyes. "Signed by 'Your Fairy Tale Man'." She drew in a deep breath, controlling those tears that wanted to come out. She'd cried earlier and she wasn't interested in doing it again. "He was here, River. He was here at some point and he left me this...but he didn't' even talk to me."
"I suspect he knew if he did, he wouldn't be able to leave anymore," River said. She didn't need to be from the future to know that.
"Well, I wouldn't let him leave," Avalon sniffed. She held her rose close to her chest.
"Oh c'mon, no pouty face," River pointed at her. "That's not what the Doctor wanted from you, especially today. It's your birthday!"
Avalon sighed and looked at her rose. "Yeah, it is…" Maybe she should look at things from a different angle, at least for today, and focus on the part where the Doctor actually came back. Even if it was just for a moment, he had been there for one moment and just for her.
She might still be a little special.

"Why are you so happy today?" Amy asked then suddenly received an elbow on her side. Rory passed by with a sharp look on his face. She shouldn't question why their granddaughter was so happy, not unless they were looking for Avalon to do the opposite.
Avalon ignored the little moment as she planted her bag on the kitchen table. "I...sort of got a job," she announced. She expected their similar surprised states but she didn't expect them to look so funny. "It's not the end of the world if I get a job, is it?"
"No, no, but…" Rory said, clearing his throat, "We just didn't expect you to...get one."
"Yeah, you hate Leadworth," Amy leaned against the counter, eyeing Avalon suspiciously.
"I do," Avalon made sure to clarify first. "But I figure it's time to stop being a freeloader. Plus, remember that little girl that loved my public reading I did last year? Aurora?" They both nodded. Avalon hadn't stopped talking about that little girl after the event. It truly warmed Avalon's heart to know that a child loved her story so much. "Well, she's six now and I bumped into her in Mrs. Kepner's bookstore. She recognized me and she started going on about how much she would love for me to read more of my stories. Mrs. Kepner thought it was a good idea and so she offered me a job at the store. I'll be doing the public readings with the kids and if I happen to come up with new stories, I'm more than welcomed to read those too."
"Avalon, that's great!" Rory exclaimed, rushing over to hug her first.
"Yeah," Avalon chuckled. "I figure I might as well do something productive while I search for the Doctor."
Amy would gladly take the compromise. She came next to hug Avalon. "I'm really happy for you. It'll be good for you."
"We'll see," Avalon shrugged. "At the very least it'll keep from going crazy and murdering people." Because, oh yes, she remembered exactly what kind of people lived in the town. It was why she barely left the house. At least in the bookstore there'd be more kids and teenagers, people that weren't aware of her reputation. Though she would inevitably have to deal with adults, she knew it would just be for a small time.
"Well hey, how about we celebrate by going into the city?" Amy asked suddenly. "We can have lunch over there and maybe do a little shopping-"
"Ooooh, I could do some shopping," Avalon nodded fast. Both gingers missed the way Rory scrunched his face. Those two at a mall would take bloody forever. "I really miss the wardrobe the TARDIS had for me."
"C'mon!" Amy exclaimed. "Rory, get the credit cards!"
"Yay," Rory muttered as he followed the two women out.
"We should call River," Avalon said, making him groan.
"God no, I'm staying behind!"
"No, you're not," Amy said and so it was.

"Jesus, Avalon, did you leave anything for the store?" Rory struggled to carry the new bags Avalon came out with.
"You're over-exaggerating," she patted his cheek and looked around. "Where's Amy and River?"
"They went into the department store," Rory said, nodding towards the store at the end of them. Both his hands were occupied with her bags, Amy's and even River's.
"Yay! C'mon!" Avalon grabbed one of his arms and pulled him towards the store.
"No, no more! My arms are going to fall off!"
"Oh, you're over-exaggerating!"
"I'm really not! I haven't felt my right arm in over an hour!"
Avalon rolled her eyes and led them into the store. It was pretty crowded but they eventually found Amy and River near the perfume area.
"Oh, is that your perfume!?" Avalon practically shrieked, attracting the attention of several of the customers. She ignored them all as she ran towards the glass counter. She grabbed the purple perfume from River's hands and sprayed herself.
"It's a sample, Avalon," Amy said and snatched the bottle from her before she used up the entire thing.
"But it smells so good!" Avalon exclaimed, trying to take it back from her. "For the girl who's tired of waiting! Killer slogan!"
"Yeah, that's quite a real line for us," River said quietly. Amy looked over Avalon with an agreeing nod.
"Oh! Amy!" They heard Rory's shout. He had dropped half the bags he was carrying and things were rolling.
"God, he's helpless," Amy sighed and handed the perfume back to River to go help Rory.
"You go help too!" Avalon plucked the perfume from River's hands and motioned her to 'run along'.
"I think not!" River forced her to put the perfume down on the counter. "C'mon, maybe we can find a nice present for Lena. Her birthday's coming up, remember?"
"I know," Avalon rubbed the side of her head. "I'm clueless on what to give her."
"So then let's look," River whistled for the saleslady to come help them.

Two hundred years later would find the Doctor posing as a department store employee and handling a visit with Craig Owens and his new baby son. In all his time of existence he never thought he could end up in a place like that and he'd gotten around plenty of times. Unfortunately, trouble always seemed to follow him as well, no matter how old he got. There were Cybermen in hiding and he had to discover where they were before things got bad, even if that came at a price of dealing with an irritated Craig. But sometimes he had little lucky moments in which something good happened. Right now, as he gazed upon his former companions, Amy and Rory, he knew it was one of those lucky moments.
They'd been picking up shopping bags that Rory had dropped - he wondered why Rory had that many bags in the first place - and then suddenly, a little girl had come up to Amy asking for an autograph. It took the Doctor a few seconds to realize that somehow that Pond had gotten herself a perfume after her.
"For Ellie," Amy smiled and handed the notepad back to the girl, "I like your hairband," she remarked as she stood straight again.
Ellie touched her headband and beamed, "Thank you," she said as she returned to her mother only a couple feet away.
"Can we take a rest...please?" Rory asked Amy and held his arms out with the shopping bags, making Amy laugh. "I can't feel my arms!"
"Yeah, alright," Amy decided to take pity on his misery. "But that's what happens when you get a daughter and a granddaughter. We outnumber you." Rory rolled his eyes but he was mighty better when Amy gave him a kiss. "Avalon! River! Time to go!"
"In a minute!" came the irritated response from Avalon.
The Doctor's hearts nearly stopped when he caught sight of Avalon by the perfume counter. It'd been 200 hundred years since he last saw her. He didn't know how he could've made it this far but he knew it was because he hadn't seen her. It took every last bit of his will not to come get her from Leadworth. He had to remind himself that he needed to keep her safe and search for the Silence, but that search had come to an end a while back. Now he was just drifting through until the moment came. It was why it'd become even more difficult to stay away. He knew his end was coming, there was nothing he could do to change it, so why not spend his last moments with Avalon? He didn't want to hurt her. The Silence had done enough of that. But it seemed like the universe was giving him one last gift before his end.
"God, River, you have terrible taste in perfumes!" Avalon had just sent the saleslady away.
"Excuse you and that mouth of yours!" River huffed. "I do not!"
Avalon raised the bottle she was eyeing and sprayed it to the side. "Dogs wouldn't walk through that."
River's face almost made the Doctor laugh and give himself up. He'd never seen her like that and he was sure that the only reason she was holding back was because it was Avalon on the receiving end.
"You are rude," River finally spoke after a few moments of silence.
"Tell me something I don't know," Avalon shrugged. She tucked some hair behind her ear, allowing the Doctor to see she still wore his watch on her wrist.
He swallowed hard. All he had to do was take a step towards her and she would see him. He was aware that she'd done everything to find him, even going as far as calling in Jack Harkness to help her (that might have made him a bit jealous, just a bit), and while it was tempting to go back to her...he couldn't do it. He was dying, that was the truth. He had to die in order for the world to keep going. If the world kept going, then Avalon would be safe. If he died, the Silence would leave her alone. That's the reason he kept away in these last days.

It was late when the Ponds got back to Leadworth. Rory happily let each woman take their bags into the house while he went to grab himself some wine. Yeah, he deserved that.
"You're so mean, Rory!" Avalon shouted from the foyer.
"Yup," he agreed as he searched for the wine glasses in the cabinets.
Amy dumped her bags on the living room floor, not even trying to make it to the stairs. "Okay, I'm so tired."
"I can keep these here, right?" River gestured to her own pile of bags behind the couch. "Stormcage doesn't exactly allow for all this stuff."
"Oh, but they allow you to escape every now and then?" Avalon arched an eyebrow at her.
"Your mouth is on an extra one today," River wagged a finger at her.
Avalon cheekily smiled and moved to gather her stuff from the table. She heard her phone buzz in her bag a moment later. She left the papers in a somewhat neat pile and pulled her phone out of the bag. She read the quick text she'd gotten and gasped so loudly that she worried her grandmother and mother.
"What, what was it!?" River quickly hurried around the couch to meet her.
"I, uh, I got myself in contact with some people on New Earth. They're like your version of detectives and they just got word of a possible sighting of a Silent."
"What? That's stupid," Amy frowned. "How would they even remember them?"
"Because I told them about the chip that Kovarian used on me. They've made their own version - that's not the point! I have to go!" Avalon only made it two steps towards the doorway before River held her back.
"Are you deranged!? You can't go hunt down the Silence!"
"It's just one!"
"It doesn't matter! You can't go there!"
"Yes I can!" Avalon wrestled free from River's arms and turned around to face her. "And you're not stopping me! Nobody is!"
"Avalon, you need to understand this! We've been over this! The timelines-"
"I DON'T CARE!" Avalon screamed. "I don't give a crap about timelines, not when it can stop the Doctor from dying!"
"The people, Avalon. The people that I'm talking about would cease to exist!" River was now fully terrified that this time she might not be able to stop Avalon from going off in search of the Silence. Amy could see that fear from her spot too.
"What people, dammit!? You always say that but you never say who! For all I know you could be lying!" Avalon shook her head. "I'm Gmgoing to New Earth and there is nothing you can do nor say to stop me!"
River watched her turn and leave. Her mind was spinning, everything was spinning actually, and the only thing she heard was 'Don't tell Avalon, don't tell Avalon, don't tell Avalon!'. She couldn't let Avalon near the Silence, it was the biggest task she had and it was the only thing she could do for her daughter in a life that hadn't exactly allowed her to be a Mother. But right now Avalon was going straight into danger and she could not allow it.
"Avalon, stop it! Come back!"
"No!"
River hurried out of the living room with Amy hot on her trail.
"What is going on?" Rory emerged from the kitchen to see Avalon practically sprinting towards the door.
"Avalon, stop! You can't go to New Earth!" River continued to call after her. Amy came rushing after her and now with Rory.
"Why not!?"
"Because I know how everything ends! I know what happens and what must always happen!"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm not listening to anymore of this!" Avalon grabbed the door knob.
"You need to listen to me because I'm your Mother! I know what I'm talking about!" River actually felt like she would combust in that moment. Everything was on fast mode and she didn't register all the words she'd said until after she had.
But Avalon had heard the very moment she said it. Her hand had frozen midway as she turned the door knob. She turned her head towards River, catching sight of Amy behind them. "What?"
River brought a hand to her forehead. This wasn't how she pictured this moment but she had to do it. Anything to keep her safe. "I'm...I'm your Mother, Avalon. I-I know it's hard to understand but it's true. I'm your mother, I know exactly what the Silence is planning because they planned it around me...around us. And I'm so sorry but everything has to happen the way it already has...otherwise you cease to exist."
Avalon didn't say anything. She couldn't. Nothing was making sense right now. River couldn't be telling her the truth. She looked at Amy and Rory for some help, but they had these weird faces. She wanted them to tell her that River was lying, that she was just saying the first thing that popped into her head to stop her from leaving...but they kept quiet. In fact, they were looking at her with sympathy.
"Oh my God," Avalon felt sick to her stomach. "You're not...you're not lying…"
"No, no, I'm not lying. I'm so sorry," River said, taking a step towards her but she saw the exact moment the anger crossed Avalon's face.
"You abandoned me!" She pushed River away. There was a part of her that told her this was all familiar. The sick feeling in her stomach felt like it'd already been there for the exact same reason.
"No, no I didn't!" River reached out for her, wanting so desperately to touch her daughter.
"You left me with my uncle! You have no right to tell me what to do! You've…" Avalon brought her hands to her face as a sour laugh slipped through her lips. "Oh my God, now it makes sense. Now I get why you were always so determined to be around me, to...to make me stop this search." She dropped her hands but pointed a menacing finger towards River. "How dare you come into my life like you didn't abandon me! And how dare you try to tell me what to do! You have no right, none at all, to tell me anything!"
"Ava, how about you calm down and let River explain everything?" Rory thought he could use his special relationship with her to bring her away from the door. He was right. For a second, Avalon faltered. "I'm sure this isn't how she wanted to tell you."
"It wasn't," River agreed quickly.
"Look, I'm not mad at either of you," Avalon said to him and Amy. "I told you not to tell me anything. And would you like to know why?" She flashed a glare at River. "Because I thought it was unfair how my 'mother'-" she did quick air quotations with her hands, "-left it all with you two and the Doctor. None of you deserved to carry that burden." There were tears pooling in her eyes and she fought against them with everything she had not to let them out. "My mother was supposed to tell me that herself but then again she wasn't supposed to abandon me."
"I didn't abandon you, Avalon," River tried to say again without getting interrupted. "I had to give you up."
"Oh my God, if I had a penny for every time I heard that…" Avalon shook her head, quickly wiping off some stray tears.
"I know, I know it's all difficult and you're angry but if you would just come back I can explain everything."
"No, it's too late," Avalon warned River to stay right where she was. "I am 24 years old and how old are you? Far from the age you were when you had me, I'm sure. You never said a word to me! You are not my mother! Emmalina Reynolds is." She quickly pulled the door open and ran out before anyone could stop her.
"What are we going to do? Are we going to let her leave?" Rory hurried towards the door.
"She's not going anywhere," River cleared her own tears off her face. "The manipulator is with Ryland. I'll give him a quick call…"
"River, I'm so sorry," Amy hugged her daughter. She wished she could've done more than just stand there but it felt like it was something River had to do, no matter how painful it was.
"It's fine, I'm…" River wouldn't bother finishing the sentence. She had to act fast. "I have to call Ryland...and maybe someone else too. Scuse me." She sidestepped Amy and went back into the living room.

Avalon wandered - stumbled - through the park. She'd barely made it back to her house when all of a sudden she was bombarded between Ryland and Lena. No doubt River had called them in advance to tell them what happened...and to tell them not to let her have the manipulator. She was essentially stuck on earth because of River. She was confused, weren't 'mothers' supposed to want the best for their kids? River failed in all aspects.
She'd began to remember the same moment happening a long time ago with Kovarian. She'd already known this information - Kovarian had told her right in the beginning that River was her mother - but she was made to forget. She had all those pictures of River throughout her life and none of them showed a shred of someone who was a mother. She never came for her daughter.
"You never cared…" Avalon drew in a breath as she came to a stop in front of the duck pond. The ducks were idly swimming by like nothing.
River abandoned her as a newborn. What right did she have playing the 'mum' card now? Here she was trying to make her life better after all the crap she'd been through and River just waltzes in and tries to dismantle it?
Avalon stifled a sob. She shouldn't cry for that woman, but maybe the tears weren't all for her. The past two years had been terrible. So many things had happened. This was the tip of the iceberg and the worst part is that she didn't even have the Doctor around.
She let herself slowly fall to the ground to sit against the rock wall of the pond. She brought her knees up to her chest and sniffled. She just sat there for God knew how long, thinking about everything that had gone wrong in her life. How could one person have this much misfortune? She didn't understand...or maybe she did. Maybe this was her punishment for the way she was when she was younger. Maybe if I'd grown up with my actual parents I would've turned out differently, she bitterly thought. How would her life be if she'd grown up with Oliver Reynolds and River Song?
Her thoughts were cut off when she heard a wheeze in the air. There was even a light breeze to accompany it. She raised her head, staying completely still before her mind thought things that weren't true. She was so angry, so sad, that her mind wasn't completely there. But she'd heard right. Her ears were working perfectly and were her eyes. The TARDIS had materialized across her and slowly, the Doctor emerged from it. The look on his face told her everything.
Somebody had called him. Avalon closed her eyes. That meant River could have always called him.
"She is a goddamn liar," she spat with all the hatred she could muster.
"My Ava…" the Doctor cautiously approached her. He didn't want to get too close to her because this was his last stop and he would have to leave again. She was crying, though, how could he resist?
"When did you first find out?" Avalon asked quietly. She flinched away from him when he sat down beside her. She'd spent a whole year searching for him and now to have him next to her felt odd.
"On Demons Run," he answered just as quietly. "I thought you were Amy's and Rory's child but it turned out the Silence had your files because you were River's daughter."
"I may be her daughter but she is not my mother. Mothers do not abandon their child, they do not lie to them…"
"Avalon, none of us know why River gave you up, but I can imagine it wasn't because she wanted to."
"How would anyone know that?" Avalon finally looked at him. The moment she did she had to take a moment just to remind herself that he was actually there.
He looked at her as well and offered her a small smile. "Because I was once a father and I know the look a parent has when they know their child is hurt. I don't know why River gave you up to Ryland but she didn't do it because she didn't love you. Quite the opposite, actually."
"I don't believe it," Avalon took in a breath. "If I had a child, I would never leave them."
"Even if it meant they would be completely safe?" The Doctor knew the challenge the question posed and he imagined it was the same challenge River had to have faced in her past. "Avalon, you don't know what it's like being a parent. There's this drive in you - an instinct - to keep your child safe no matter what. I had that, Amy had that on Demons Run, Rory had it while we searched for Amy and Melody. I'm guessing River had that the day she gave you up. But you know, all we can do is speculate until you go and talk to her."
"No," Avalon said on the spot. "I saw the pictures Kovarian had of her. She didn't look like she missed me a lot."
"What do you mean?" frowned the Doctor. "Kovarian told you this?"
"She did, and then she wiped it away like the rest of my memories. She had all these pictures of River having the time of her life without me. I don't want her - I don't want her to be my Mother." Tears flowed from Avalon's face. "Please don't make me go back there. I don't want to see her." She practically threw her body over his for what she intended to be a hug.
Still, the Doctor held her in their awkward half-lying positions and held her tight. Two hundred years was a long time to go without touching her. "I am very sorry, Avalon. No one should have to suffer the way you have."
"Just say you won't leave me again." She was holding him like her life depended on it, her eyes screwed shut. "Say you won't, please."
"You know I can't do that, Ava. I love you but...Time says I have to die. If I die, then the Silence leaves you and your family alone. They just want me."
Avalon pulled away to look at him. She studied his eyes - as much as she could with her blurred vision - and saw something new in them. Resignation. "How...how long has it been?"
"Ava…" He preferred not to look at her right now.
"I deserve the truth, dammit. Tell me!"
"I'm 1,103," he answered quietly.
Avalon let out a noise of horror. She slowly picked herself up from the ground, prompting him to do the same. New tears had filled her eyes as she studied him. He looked so tired. "I said I wouldn't let that happen. I wouldn't let you be on your own, especially for that long."
"It wasn't on you to stop anything, Avalon. I had to do it." He couldn't help himself. He had to touch her again. He reached out for her body and was relieved that she'd let him. He was able to wrap an arm around her waist and bring her body to his. He rested his forehead against her, taking a moment to smell her lavender scent again. "Do you know that in a thousand years, I've never really had anyone affect me the way you have?"
"I make everyone sick eventually," Avalon sighed.
"No," he managed to chuckle. She would say something like that. He brought his free hand up to her chin, taking a gentle hold of it. Her skin was still just as smooth and warm as he remembered it. "You're the only one who's ever kept up with me even when I was unbearable. And I've had my moments." Now it was Avalon's turn to smile, even if it was through her tears. "You remember our heist?"
"Yeah," she felt a rush of heat when she remembered their insane snog session in the middle of it.
"You and I...we've had the best adventures together. Make that into a story, will you? Maybe it'll inspire some other person to sweep their loved one off their feet."
"I don't want to write about you as if you were gone," she sniffled. "Please don't go." She curled her hand around his arm that was touching her face. "I don't want to lose you a second time. Watching you die was the most painful moment of my life. Please don't go to that place."
"You have no idea how much I would rather stay here with you, with my Ponds, but I have somewhere to be, somewhere Time needs me to be," he pushed a few strands of her hair out of her wet face. "I just needed to come and say goodbye properly."
"I promised myself that I wouldn't let you go to that place. I tried doing my best to keep you from going there…"
"You did everything you could and you have no idea how much that means to me, but it's time to stop. It's okay to stop. I figured everything out, darling. I know that I have to be there."
Avalon felt her heart breaking all over again and she was getting tired of it. Nothing seemed to work right. He was just giving himself up like that, like he had to...like he had to go face that astronaut. "Do you...do you know who the astronaut is?" She whispered.
The Doctor lowered his head for a moment. He had worked it out after his long search, after his long talks and research, but there was just one thing he still never figured out. The letter. That damn letter that warned Avalon of what was coming, no one had the answer to it.
"Doctor?" Avalon called, pulling him out of his thoughts. "Did you?"
"Yes," he ultimately said. "But I can't tell you, I'm sorry."
Avalon sighed. "That's a shocker. No one can tell me anything, no one can tell me the truth...can anyone tell me anything?"
"I love you," the Doctor said, offering her his best smile, as if they were in the middle of another date. He loved that it still made her smile. He stroked patterns over her cheek. "It's been 200 hundred years and you have no idea how much I've wanted to tell you that in person again. I love you my Ava."
Avalon leaned into his touch. "I love you too."
"I do have to go, though. I just wanted to say that one more time," the Doctor swallowed hard and looked her in her sad, teary eyes.
"...there's nothing I can do to stop you anymore?"
"I have to, I'm sorry."
Avalon was scared out of her mind but it seemed like he had made his choice. She just had no idea how she was supposed to let him walk away again. "There's so many things we could've done together. You said you were taking me to, um, Akhaten?"
"Right," the Doctor nodded. "You would've loved it."
"We could've pulled another heist," she bit her lip and leaned on him.
"And watched Rory have a heart attack?"
Avalon smirked. "We would've won this time." She let her fingers tap over his chest, something she missed doing too. "We would've been on the same team this time, you and I...we would've won the whole thing."
"Yeah we would've," the Doctor grinned at the image of them pulling a second heist with the worst shenanigans they could come up with. He pulled her hands off him and held them tightly in his. He stared at her smirking face and felt the air leave his body. She was insanely beautiful and she had been with him. For a short moment in his life, she had been with him and they'd been happy.
Timetogotimetogotimetogo. He needed to get out of there because he was one second away from whisking her off into the TARDIS to kiss forever.
He let one of her hands go and snapped his fingers. The TARDIS doors opened up but instead of walking straight for them, he needed to do something first. He was going to leave but he had to do it right this time. He couldn't sneak off like the last time. Avalon didn't deserve that.
"Would you dance with me?" He asked her. She blinked at him, naturally expecting him to say anything but that. She took her hands out of his. "Would you dance with me, Ava?"
"Dance?"
He nodded. "I'm going to die, but I have to dance with my princess first. Can't imagine leaving without one."
New tears came to Avalon's eyes. He was really going to do it. Don't waste your last moment, the voice in her head warned. She couldn't waste it. These were her last moments with him that she would remember forever. She took his hand, squeezing it tightly.
"Play us something sweet, will you?" The Doctor called to the TARDIS, or so it seemed. A few seconds later a familiar tune started playing.
Avalon laughed lightly. "Once Upon a Dream."
"Our first dance together," the Doctor reminded her, not that she needed to be reminded. It was their first dance as friends and their first dance on their first date. As if she would ever forget that. He put an arm around her waist again and started to sway to the song.
Little by little, Avalon let go of his hand and brought her arms around his neck. She rested her head against his chest, wanting to be as close as possible to him. "I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream. I know you! The gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam. Yet I know it's true, the visions are seldom all they seem…"
The Doctor laid his cheek over the top of Avalon's head, smiling contently for the first time in a long time. He would always love her beautiful voice.
"...but if I know you, I know what you'll do. You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream," she sniffled. "Do you ever sing?"
The Doctor hummed. "That...would be a no. I don't sing."
"I wish you would," Avalon looked up at him. "We could, um-" she forced herself to smile, "-we could've sang 'A Whole New World'. That would've fit us, huh?"
"I think so, yeah," the Doctor chuckled. They just didn't have the time anymore. Time's up. He brought a finger under her chin then leaned down and kissed her. She quickly kissed him back.
A whole year waiting and searching for him had seemed to lead them to this moment. She wished they could do this forever and ever. Their arms wrapped around each other so tightly there was no chance of moving. Avalon remembered all the sappy movies that had those really long, passionate kisses and she would make fun of them all the time. Who knew that she'd end up having one of her own? It was a terrible moment when they had to end it. They pulled away what was necessary to look into each other's eyes, silently saying goodbye to each other.
"You have been my best story," Avalon whispered, having to bite her lower lip to keep herself from bursting into sobs right there and then. "Is there not another story?"
"The next story will be you living happily. Maybe writing a couple stories here and there...and going back to that sweet family who loves you so much," the Doctor tapped her nose. "Try to talk to River, okay?"
"Try to stay alive?" Avalon played her final card which was just to ask. River did say to her that he was never able to say 'no' to her. Let's see if she lied about that too. She cupped his face and leaned closer to his lips. "For me?"
The Doctor swallowed hard. She was far too close for him not to try and kiss her again. The TARDIS wasn't that far away from them, was it? Out of time! Right. He had to focus...but she was looking at him, pleading with him to listen to her.
Maybe…
Avalon pressed one final kiss to his lips. "Goodbye, Fairy Tale Man."
"Goodbye, my Ava," he smiled softly...with tears in his eyes. He forced himself to step away from her, one of the hardest things he had to do. He looked at her one last time, shuddering a breath that wanted to lead to more tears. He turned away and walked back to the TARDIS.
Avalon hugged herself as she watched the Doctor disappear inside the TARDIS. Seconds later, she heard the wheezing noise as the box started disappearing. Her eyes might as well have been water wells by that point. She would've let herself cry right there and then if she hadn't noticed a figure standing behind the de-materializing TARDIS. It took her a few minutes to realize what it was…who it was.
"Hello Mother," the adult Sapling smiled at her and waved with one hand.
Avalon's eyes widened, immediately figuring he must have hitched a ride with the Doctor. Those two had played such a sneaky surprise on her. She ran up to him, throwing her arms around his much taller figure now that he was an adult. "Oh my Sapling! You've come back!"
"I had to," the Sapling hugged his mother tightly. "Father said you would need me."
Avalon could only nod against his wooden chest.

51st century, Luna University.
A very young River Song sat in a study with a table full of books and several official files in front of her. With a hand over her stomach, she dropped one of the files and picked up her opened diary to see a date written in one of the pages. She had looked it over at least a thousand times, along with the research she'd done, and she just couldn't figure it out.
"Tick, tock, goes the clock. And what now shall we play?" She heard a strange voice in the room say, "Tick, tock, goes the clock. Now summer's gone away."
"Hello?" River called. "Oliver? Are you playing a game on me? I don't like them."
Kovarian appeared from the shadows of the room flashing a smug smile at River. "Such a lovely old song. But is it about him?"
"You know about the Doctor?" River raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the strange woman. She thought she seemed familiar but...her mind was a bit fuzzy sometimes.
"So very well," Kovarian nodded and smirked at the long stare River was giving her, "Don't try and remember me. We have been far too thorough with your dear little head. I brought a gift, though" she informed as she reached across the table to take River's diary. "Well...gifts."
"A...what?" River blinked.
Kovarian smirked again as she came forwards and picked up River's diary off the table. "So they made you a doctor today, did they? Doctor River Song. How clever you are. You understand what this is, don't you?" She turned the diary around for River to see.
"According to some accounts it's the day the Doctor dies," River answered quietly. "But that's what they are, just 'accounts'. Rumors."
"By Silencio Lake on the Plain of Sighs an impossible astronaut will rise from the deep and strike the Time Lord dead," Kovarian recited with a great smile, as if it were her favorite story...and perhaps...
"It's a story, that's all," River shrugged, though she seemed nervous.
Kovarian sighed casually and set the diary back on the table, "And this is where it begins," she informed, "My gifts to you," she snapped her fingers and immediately a door opened from behind where two of the Silence entered holding a very familiar woman.
"What the hell is that?" River's eyes widened at the sight of the Silence.
"Your owners and, currently, hers," Kovarian gestured back.
"You let me go! Let me go right now!" Avalon kicked and stomped as she was brought in by the creatures. When she saw River she paused but then a deep fury marked her face. "YOU!" She tried going for her, shocking River until Avalon started to yell, "You're not my Mother! I don't want you!"
River swallowed thickly. "How did…?"
"Oh, shush child," Kovarian waved the ginger off and focused on River. "I'm about to make a deal with Mummy."
"Let her go right this instant," River ordered but dared not stand up at the moment.
"Here is the deal, Melody Pond," Kovarian set her hands on the table and leaned forwards, "Those stories of Lake Silencio are all true. The Doctor will be there and he will be shot. An astronaut is to rise from Silencio Lake and it will. The only thing I haven't decided is which one of you will it be? You...or your daughter?"
"I don't understand, how do you know who I am? And how do you have Avalon? I watched the Doctor take her into the TARDIS. She's safe!"
"Ah, time travel my dear. This is just before Berlin. I have your younger self waiting for orders in Leadworth," Kovarian's lips curled into a devilish smile. "I made you what you are and I also prepared a back up. I have trained your daughter to do the task, brainwashed her, everything I need to get this right."
"I am not her daughter!" Avalon still fiercely yelled. "You left me!"
"I didn't do anything," River weakly argued, much too confused to put up a proper defense. As far as she knew, she hadn't left her daughter all.
"Yet!" Avalon snapped. "You abandoned me!"
"I haven't!" River slammed her hands down on the table as she got up from her chair, letting Avalon see that she really hadn't.
Avalon went into shock and fell silent. River was pregnant, very pregnant. She hadn't done anything yet, none of the things Kovarian had shown her. "Oh my God…"
River settled a hand over her stomach. "I'm almost due," she said with a half smile. "And I will never abandon my child."
Before Avalon could say anything, Kovarian stepped around the table for River. The woman quickly backtracked the same step. "Someone is getting into that astronaut suit and doing the deed. I allow you mercy by giving you the freedom to choose who will do it. You can climb into the astronaut suit and shoot the Doctor dead, sparing your poor daughter the atrocious act of killing her love. However, if you decide to keep your baby daughter - I won't judge - then I will have that one-" She pointed back at Avalon who couldn't be more terrified at the prospect, "-be in the suit. She shoots the Doctor and then she's off to Stormcage. I'm sure you could arrange visitations."
River felt a deep fury fill her insides, something she had to be truly careful about given her state. "You will not touch my daughter!"
"Ah, so is that your choice then? You take her place?"
"N-n-n-n-n-no! No!" Avalon started once she got the idea. "She doesn't accept anything! And neither do I! I would rather die than kill the Doctor! Shoot me right now!"
"I would but I'm not interested in finding out how many regenerations you have right now," Kovarian dismissed her and continued on with River. "Well then? I don't have all day, and neither does the Doctor actually. You or her?"
"I won't do it," River said, nearly making a promise to Avalon there and then. "I'm not killing him..."
This did not settle well with Kovarian. "Perhaps another persuasion tactic is needed - my second gift. Bring him in!"
Two more Silence walked into the room dragging in a young ginger man. Avalon and River immediately recognized him.
"Let me go! What the hell are you anyways!?" The man angrily pulled and pulled against their claw-like hands.
"Uncle Oliver?" Avalon struggled against the Silence holding her. "Why-why are you here? Why is he here!?" She threw a glare at Kovarian.
"Oliver?" River had recognized him perfectly, and now looked even more terrified than before.
"Make the decision, Melody Pond," Kovarian began to warn again.
"R-River they're crazy!" the man, Oliver, was struggling hard. "They're talking about murder and our daughter and I-"
"Daughter?" Avalon repeated just before Kovarian's roaring voice went over hers.
"MAKE THE DECISION!"
"NO!" River exclaimed.
Once again defeated, Kovarian struck with another strategy. With one swift move she had pulled out a gun and shot Oliver on the chest. The man collapsed on the ground.
"NOOO!" River nearly lunged forwards as she saw this happen. The tears were quick to fill her eyes and spill down.
Avalon had gasped with horror. "No, no! You didn't have to do that! Why - why would you do that!?"
River tried reaching Oliver but Kovarian blocked the way. "Please…" River begged her. "He's dying…"
"Yes, what a terrible thing you just did," Kovarian said flatly. "How will she ever forgive you?"
River swallowed hard as she looked over to Avalon. "Please...that's her father. Let her be with him. It's his last moments."
"My father…?" Avalon repeated. Her head was spinning and this time it wasn't because of all the electric shocks she'd gotten recently. "He's my…" She met River's teary gaze and watched her nod. "Oh my God!" She wrestled free from the Silence to run to Oliver. She fell to her knees beside him. "I-I...I don't know what to do, I'm sorry…"
Oliver had very little energy left but he had enough to recognize her. He had seen her already before, once. "My Avalon…"
She swallowed hard and nodded her head. "They say...they say you're my Dad. Is that...is that true?"
Olivia struggled to smile at her, hoping to answer her question. "You have my hair."
Avalon leaned closer to him and nodded again. "I...I guess I do?" Oliver groaned and shuddered a breath. Avalon barely understood what was happening but her eyes were giving out tears. She was so sad; sad over him. "You're my father and you're dying. I've killed you!"
"No, no," Oliver reached out as if to hug her so Avalon cradled his body as much as she could. "My beautiful Avalon. You grow up, you'll be safe...and happy…"
"No, no, no, don't talk like that. If it's all true then-then that means we have a lot of catching up to do. Stay with me please," Avalon pressed a kiss to his cheek, feeling a faint tickle over her skin from his light beard. "You're my Dad, you have to stay with me." Oliver smiled at her one more time before his eyes fell shut. "No! C'mon! No!" Avalon called for him to wake up, pleaded him to, but he was completely still.
River was despondent as she looked over her desk to see Oliver still and eyes shut. "He had...nothing to do with this..." She said to Kovarian in a frail whisper.
"I wouldn't have had to do that if you had just obeyed," Kovarian glowered. "You know the rules. You listen to me or else. Who I shoot next is all up to you."
River's eyes flickered to Avalon beside Oliver. She was crying so terrible it broke her heart. Her daughter had just watched her father die, held him. "What happens to her? If I obey, what will happen to my daughter?"
"I'll wipe her memories of everything that happened to her in these last months then I'll send her to Leadworth where she'll meet your younger self. I hear you guys had a blast in Berlin," Kovarian smirked. She knew that no matter what happened she had already won. Berlin had already happened.
The door flung open again and this time several soldiers stormed in with the famous white astronaut suit. Avalon actually screamed at the sight of it, already terrified from what happened and what she already watched happen.
"Not that! Please, not that!" She held her father's body closer to her, as if somehow he would still be able to protect her. "Not that!"
Two soldiers came to rip her away from her father's corpse and for the suit. River screamed at them to stop while Kovarian laughed. "It's time to choose Dr. Song, we've simply run out of time!"
Author's Note:
It's all going down in the next chapter ladies and gents! So excited to see your reactions! It goes without saying that things will be very different from the show and of course it'll be angsty. Also, just a clarification for the time the passed by. When Avalon says it's been 2 years for her, she means in the TARDIS. Obviously in Leadworth it's still 2011 but for her, it's been 2 years since the beginning of this story!
